Hi Ed's can you please fix the writing on the banter page? When using a iPhone to view the page the writing is too small to read without zooming in and scrolling for an hour.

Thanks Ed.

P.s the writing on the rumour page is ok.

Hi ed's, just a quick question, that i hope you can answer...
A couple of days a go, Lewis Hatch said on twitter that he had been released. I was just wondering whether or not you know if anybody else had been released, and if so, who?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Perhaps someone else can help.}

I'd like to see Rafa back, this time he'd have the backing of the Board and possibly Dein as DOF. He tried to sign Dani Alves and David Villa but finances stopped him. Am sure he could find us a goalscorer and train Carra to be his successor. Bit of home form and put away a few more chances and we'll be back to Champions League

Rafa loves buying big players but our owners are not ready to pay big wages so in my opinion won't work

People seem to forget that rafa wants total control cant see him and a dof working personally , also are you saying bring back zonal marking ? andy.

Actually you are wrong Rafa did not want Alves. I have a letter from Rick Parry stating that Rafa wanted other options. I used to write in to complain about the signings and used to submit my views on players we should buy. I once wrote about Etoo before he signed for Barcelona and Rick Parry wrote back that they dont rate him as highly as I do?? He went on to sign for Barcelona and was African player of the year for 2 years..... Or maybe it was Parry who was lying and trying to blame Rafa.

Ed, If Chelsea win the CL and finish 4th. Would they have to play in qualifying rounds or straight into the group stages, because they won it?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - CL winners go straight in to the Group stages.}

Who cares!!

Forget Chelsea Blair. They r not gonna win against bayern in their own backyard. Did u see how bayern owned madrid over both legs? N madrid's squad was twice as expensive as bayern's.

Why all this talk of a new manager we have one end of story !

True, but in that case, why all this talk of any new signings at all?! We have plenty of players!

davethebutcher

Why all this talk of a new manager? Its cos the one we have isnt good enough.

Why all this talk of new players? Same reason, some of the ones we have arent good enough.

I don't know why people are always goin on we need munain, soldado ect. I think we need to look at some of the German internationals, they're physical, have no fear and young. A lot of the German team at the last world cup held their own pretty well. Just a thought

They don't like to leave Germany.

Didi did left Germany and was dictator of our midfield in early 2000, wasn't he?

Sorry Ed, I'm not having it for one minute that Kenny would work under those conditions.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - then you clearly have no idea of the man's love for the club.}
----------------------------

I think I know how Kenny feels about the club Ed, and as you don't know the man either you don't know any more than me.
He loves the club and for that reason alone I don't think he would allow it to be run in a way that may jeopardise it. Apart from that he's old school and also very stubborn and sure of his own abilities.
I'll say it again I'm absolutely convinced that he wouldn't work under the system you suggested just as I'm convinced he will not accept a move upstairs for the same reasons I outlined above

Chris in Tamworth
{Ed001's Note - ok mate, you believe what you like, but you are wrong, very wrong.}

Please share with us your knowledge of why I am wrong

Chris in Tamworth

Will Kenny be allowed to dictate the style of play etc etc then ed001 ?
I don't get it - if the Americans don't trust him as manager, how can they then give him an over-arching role like DoF ?
Though, for what it's worth, I'm with you ed001. I think that Kenny would definitely take the job.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - it wasn't about Kenny being named DoF, but about whether he would put up with a DoF deciding on the style of play. Chris is of the misguided opinion that Dalglish would never allow anyone else to have any input.}

Ed001 you are totally wrong. Kenny has been trying to play the same 442 he has always done throughout his managerial career.

The system we deploy is clearly all down to Kenny and no way was Commoli responsible for matters on the pit {Ed001's Note - if you say so, I am sure you must know much better, oh nameless one. But, quite simply, you are talking nonsense, based on lack of knowledge of what exactly a system is and what a formation is. Please don't try and argue when you can't even tell the difference between two basic facets of football.}

Ed001 after having a couple of conversations this morning I can assure you that your assumption that Comolli set the style of play and Kenny just coached the players is miles off. Oh by the way I thought I'd show you this that Ed002 posted yesterday...
{Ed002's Note - I suspect that the influence of Comolli over the style is being overplayed.}
Yet again I find myself awaiting your apology

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Sorry Chris, I won't let it happen again.}

Ah, OK, apologies.
But isn't that what's more or less been happening anyway with Kenny & Comolli ?
I was under the impression that you thought Kenny would be moved upstairs ed001.
It's all highly confusing. Lol.
The Real KB
{Ed001's Note - not necessarily upstairs, but to another role. I would prefer him to move upstairs, if he is moved at all though.}

Lol Ronaldo and Messi both missing the penalties, who would have thought. But I'll admit watching Ronaldo Miss was fun. Neuer is top class, without a doubt the best goalkeeper. He will (or has) win Bayern the CL title. Go Bayern!

Tekneek

Bit of luck, Chelsea's loss of Arjen Robben will come back to haunt them.

If chelsea park the bus against bayern, they r due a thrashing. Robben, scweinsteiger, n kroos r some of the best long range shooters in the game.

I just want to know if anybod believes we need a DOF? Is it necessary or just the way our onwners want to go?

All these players could be gone by the start of next season. Big chances are afoot

That will do for me !

Do you have the 100+ mil for this lot then?

Not rafa though

Where's Carra

25 Apr 2012 22:28:56
Sad for Xabi not going to CL final. It means he's only wn it with Liverpool. Unbelievable really. Wanted to join Real to win the CL but can only claim the 2005 CL trophy with with a club from a provincial city and far away from the galmour of Madrid. Ironic but true!

I'm not sure thats entirely true, didn't he leave Liverpool because Benitez tried to offload him to buy Gareth Barry?

Bazingaa

Don't u mean ha' ha'

I think you're on the money there Bazingaa.
I'll be long in my grave before i ever work out the thought processes behind a decision like that one...

Red7.

Alonso left liverpool cause rafa the rectum tryed to offload him to juve to fund a move for barry.
mrbrown

Didnt rafa and xabi fall out when xabis wife was expecting there child and xabi wanted to be at the birth but this clashed with a lfc game, rafa arguing , that lfc paid xabis wages , so he should play. also , i recall , that rafa wanted barry before any talk of xabi leaving , h&g pulled the rug over money which, then left the alternative of xabi being sold. steviep48 godbless 96 all reds

Maybe this is just wishfull thinking, and don't rant about it but...

If Jose Mourinhoi was to leave Real Madrid do you think we would be in with a shout with any players?..

Xabi Alonso?
Mesut Ozil?

Just a thought, cheers!

Yeah..to be fair it is just wishful thinking lol, but wouldn't it be nice.

Bazingaa

The question is.
WHY IS JOSE MOURINHO SO SUCCESSFUL?
Has anyone else ever wondered that?
AVB worked for Mourinho, but wasn't successful at Chelsea. So why is he the Special One

I had exactly the same thoughts but with KD as DoF.

Boxer

I think if he STAYS, we've more of a chance at these players. If he leaves, the new manager would be a complete person for selling those 2... But either way i'd say they're unlikely...

Red7.

I dont want Alonso back or anybody who left the club when we were doing quite wel

Hi, Having been a supporter of LFC for 30 odd years, through the fantastic times and the not so fantastic times, I cannot believe the constant calls for Kenny to be removed at the end of the season. In little over a year he has cleared out loads of 'third' raters that would never / should never play in the first team, that LFC kept on the books, aquired especially over the last 4 years or so! Costing us a fortune in wasted wages. We have won nothing for 6 years, now we have one cup and very possibly another this season, guaranteed european football next year in the europa league which will be great to 'blood' new players into european nights at anfield, we win it and theres another cup and possibly the super cup. We have a team making 12-15 chances every single game! If we had bought a 'defoe' (using him as an example) last year or another seasoned 'poacher' he would have scored 40 goals this season, its the only thing thats held us back, just one piece of the jigsaw, one! We are 200% better off this year than last, in Kenny I trust, but thats because I am old enough to see the long game that he is planning for, if I was the clubs owner I would be very happy with our progression. As KK has only spent a nett 30million or so (purchases less sales) I think he will be able to buy a good striker. I think we can afford a cavanni or a soldado, etc. Don't bother with the 'we're not in CL so they won't come, they are footballers offer enough and they will come! Less hangers on third raters more money available to pay the 'wages of quality' and next year we will be much better in the league as well, we may not win it but I think we are on the right track and it will come to fruition under dalglish sooner than later. YNWA

I will very much agree with this opinion of the situation as it is true he has brought silverware to the club, restructured all the players e.g. got rid on unnecessary deadwood, and got us playing attractive football.
but what you must understand is that the owners are not willing to sit on their laurels.
when hodgson was sacked last year, it was not the initial intention of making kenny manager, however the call from the liverpool supporters pursuaded them to bring him in for the remainder of the season to steady the ship so to speak and he did that by bringing a feel good factor getting the best out of players.
however after heavy financial backing to him, at present said signings havent done as well as should be for that kind of money, not to mention some bizarre tactical decisions, the suarez affair, the decision not to bring in a more clinical striker in january stating that "he was happy with the squad" and obviously the league position. the owners objective was to get back into the champions league this year. at present we sit a long way off that and they feel that it is in the interest of the club to bring in a knew manager a move kenny upstairs, dont get me wrong i love the guy and he has done so much for the club but he has failed to meet objectives. which is why there is talk of him leaving the position of manager.

in my honest opinion i think he could be put into better use by becoming part of the youth scouting and youth system. i do not know which manager would be possible, i would like to see a youngish manager who has a long term plan, therefore not ala jose mourinho.
in the summer there will be changes, for better. it is clear the the owners are not messing around as shown by the sacking of some of the backroom staff.

all i can say is that Liverpool are in safe hands with the owners and they are in it for the long term not to make a quick buck. and we should be positive about the future because there is much potential within the club and it will shine through in seasons to come.

hope you enjoyed my opinion of this and that i haven't bored you with this.

Kind Regards

The Southern Red

P.S i am still baffled by kenny's decision not to use some of the youth in these final matches, they are not important and it would be good for them. seeing that many defenders on the bench against west brom just made me question kenny's decision making for the team.

Totally agree. Just guessing that as we are not winning games that we should he will play better players in next couple of games. If we win fa cup then can see some younger players for chelsea and swansea games.
Another southern red

Your absolutely right OP, Kenny got rid of the third raters, and bar a couple of exceptions, he brought in second rate players. Im expecting that we will also finish lower than out current 8th position. How anyone can call that progression dumbfounds me.

Steve

alonso's amazing pasing unbelievable
why oh why

Why?

1, rafa
2, money
3, real madrid
4, rafa

And for those that want Rafa back - remember he thought Barry was better than Alonso. And people question Kenny's buys! Nick.

Why did we have him?
1. RAFA

Why did we lose him?
1. Rafa
lol

Bazingaa

Why did we lose him?
1. rafa

He did not think Alonso was better you bonehead.

The owners wouldnt give him any money and there was interest from real for Alonso so rafa thought he would sell him for 30 mill and that would free up money for 2 quality players.

We would have got Barry for around 16mill and that would have left another 15 mill for a quality wide player...Benitez was thinkin about the bigger picture.

Main reason he left: Rick Parry

BthekingB {Ed001's Note - how was it down to Parry? It was down to Rafa trying to sell him to Arsenal and Juventus that he was unsettled. But the main reason he left is because Real Madrid came in for him, that was the main reason.}

He tried to offload alonso for 16 million to juve or arsenal and buy Barry for 18 million

Xabi had just had a bad season for us! Rafa tried to offload him he could'nt Xabi had a blinder of a season 08/09 Rafa told him he want's him to stay! but Real came knocking! so as Ed001 say's the true reason Xabi left was going to Madrid!

Hi eds
In the summer Liverpool should make a move for a young replacement goalkeeper like Toni courtois the bright young prospect from Sporting Lisbon as backup for Doni if he should leave on a free in the summer.
Martin Kelly was never a right back and whoevers manager in the summer should start to train Kelly up into an experienced centre back for the future. At right back Isla should be a great replacement as right back. Agger and Skrtel have been amazing at centre half this season but Coates (who is just finding some form) and Kelly are great for the future. Enrique has arguably been are most consistent player this season and I am almost certain he would of kept his place in the team next season. Lucas should be a definite starter next season as he is back from injury and hopefully be fully fit. Gerrard at his best could make it into any team in the world (except Barca.) I think Munian should be added to the team and would be worth the large chunk out of are transfer budget. Downing is also finding form so will probably be a starter next season. If we can keep Suarez it will be a successful transfer window. Soldado should be added to the squad and be played in front of Suarez as a goal poacher. Matt Phillips should be added for the bench but Luuk De Jong should not be added as it would be unfair to ruin carrolls opurtunity just as he finds form.

Thanks
Scousered

I think Isla, Phillips and Soldado are realistic at around 40 - 45 million. Sales should reach £15 million from Kuyt and Johnson, plus others. Adam may also go and be replaced, possibly by Elm. Muniain will probably be priced out of a move, but a creative player of some type is crucial this summer.

Papa G

I thought Chelsea owned Courtois

Scousered, 2 goals in your last 10-12 games hardly counts as good form. Luuk de Jong is already a class or 2 above Carroll and will only improve further. I think de Jong would be an excellent buy for LFC.

Steve

Gerrard would get into any midfield including Barca.

If only they had a Gerrard in midfield Barca would have won the other night

Apart from Messi what Barca player would outshine an on form Gerrard

Seems a simple answer - NONE

25 Apr 2012 21:16:14
why is aquilani returning such a negative? hes a creative midfielder. let him get into shape and hopefully he'll play well. if he doesnt release him. personally, i would start working my ass off if my AC milan dont want me on loan and liverpool want to release me. I would want to prove that i am a good and creative midfielder that can earn the respect of the fans. also, liverpool should lower his wages until he mans up

Because he doesn't want to be in England, he has made that perfectly clear, I'd rather cut our losses then have such negativity in our squad, winning is as much about attitude then talent, we need players that want to win...for themselves, for the fans and for the club.

Bazingaa

It is a negative because he does not want to play for us and if he does not leave then he is still on our wage bill, at i believe around 80,000 a week.

Kind Regards

Kaka on loan next season wasting his time warming the bench at real just an idea the type of deal you could see The likes of arry pulling off for spurs he would be ideal and provide creativity we need, not a rumour just something I think could be possible and would like to see happening anyone agree

This idea is mouthwatering here we have a player who rarely plays who after reaching a level of fitness would take the premier league by storm, if Real are after Suarez we need to make it part of th e deal to take kaka on loan who would entertain us fans in the classic footballer way and move us forward as a football team

Kaka is an amazing player but he is now 30, would cost a fortune in wages, has had a lot of injury problems, i think that he would struggle with the physical side of the prem

25 Apr 2012 21:04:16
If suarez and/or carroll were to leave would the figure macca previously suggested (5) of the number of players we'll try to sign go up to say 6/7 or has their possible departure been taken into account?

Cheers,

Who else on hear thinks Gary Neville is a pretty good pundit? I am beginning to lose my hatred for him slowly....or am I falling in Love with him....lol...jokes aside I think he is doing a great job! His reaction yesterday to Torres goal was pretty funny!

Killerpool

When Torres scored and Ratboy made that noise Killerpool mate. I thought the missus had put When Harry Met Sally, on my Tivo box. He done a better noise than Meg Ryan ever could. I imagine that's the noise he makes when his other half (Becks) gives him a bell, all the way from LA.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I was going to cancel my sky subscription because of the appointment of Neville I'm glad I didn't he has won me over. His comment on David Luiz being controlled by a 10 yr old on a playstation was one of the best and most intelligent descriptions I've heard from a commentator for years. I hate to say I was wrong!

50/50, he gives good insight into what a cbk is thinking in that minute of the game. how that player must be thinking and why he did what he did ect. You only get that from a ex player.

I really don't think his speaking and communication skills are that engaging

That was a classic bit of commentary that has set up his TV career.

I looath ratboy and i now wont watch any of the pre match / half time talk that he/it is in total cretin................andy.

Is it me or is there more vitriol on this site directed towards Macca than there is towards Andy Caroll, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam combined! Im no sycophant far from it but Macca (and some of the eds) is the only one on this site that is credible and enlightens us with the transfer titbits we all have 5 finger shuffles too! Give Macca a break, he doesent need to disclose his insider knowledge. He does it altruistically...Lay off him! Miami_Red

Eds, who in the current crop of midfielders in the world would you say is most identical in terms of technical ability to Steven Gerrard?
Also IMO to replace Gerrard you would need two players. Christian Eriksen and Javi Martinez would be brilliant replacements together despite both them being unlikely due to the certain reasons already outlined by you.

Cheers,
Hassan {Ed002's Note - I can't easily answer that but I am sure that otehrs will chip in Hassan.}

Jay spearing is our only box to box midfielder. Though he cannot offer as much as Stevie did attacking. But can very much offer the same defensively.
AnfieldUSA

Very few midfielders do what Gerrard does. Lampard plays a similar but worse game. Though he's completely different physically, Yaya Toure's quality at attacking and going forward and incredible engine make him siliar, but he's not as good a passer. You get very few box-to-box midfielders playing abroad, butt perhaps one who comes close is Eriksen

Red Ollie

Oh sorry.i thought you meant crop of mids we have.
AnfieldUSA

Shelvey or hendo

I am a season ticket holder and can not believe the lack of support for J Henderson his last 3 games have all produced excellent performances from him in 3 different positions at least.
My pal who I go to the games with suggests he does not drive forward through the middle to create anything I still say who does ? We have been tottally spoiled by having a player like Steven G who can do this, no other team in the premier league have this style of player so dont judge Jordan against S-G because it isnt going to happen.
Be patient let thing develop we are long term on the right track constant changing managers and squad players is not the way forward.

Defensively, Yaya.
Going forward and his attacking passing, i'd have to say Kaka. But as for a like for like... i feel he's on his own in that category.

25 Apr 2012 19:19:32
Macca what about Unai Emery he has told his players he will not be with them next season he most have a job lined up ? seen it a day or two after u told big changes are on the way ?

Well macca as emery would say ..you are awful...but i like you..

Kenny Dalglish will still be manager at the start of next season.
He was brought in to steady the ship, create a younger and cheaper squad, challenge the top four spot and try a win trophies.
Now here's the thing..
He has won a trophy, got to another final, lowered our ridicules wage bill, brought in younger and plays attacking football.

I see those who attack Carroll and Henderson then call for Kenny's head for the prices the club paid.
To be fair to kenny.. He wrote a list of protential talents who could be value to the club for future years. On paper at that time he was correct. Carroll was a no nonsense cf with superb afield ability and a sweet left foot and was scoring for fun.
Henderson was a talented prospect who is England under 21 captain with the reputation as the next young Lampard.
It was Comolli who agreed the transfer fees.
Remember how everyone slated Lucas and Rafa for buying him. Now Lucas is superb and you want Rafa back because he's now the best.
I'm sure next season Carroll and Henderson will show their worth and Dalglish will prove why he's the gaffer.
Our league position isn't great but everything around it is.
Big changes happening soon but that's about player personnel, coaches, advisors and scouts. Their should be stadium news before next season kicks off too.

Physic red

Physic Red.. it wasn't to challenge for Top 4. It was to get into the top 4 for sure.. a must. We failed that, largely due to opposition camping in their own box. He will get it right but I believe we need to get some real wingers in and sign this Jackson Martinez to stand in the box for the whole game.

BthekingB

You are wrong even kenny knows he won't be manager at the start of next season and to be fair he took as a club man and what was best for the club

25 Apr 2012 19:13:02
Just a question really so many rumours bout kenny leaving as manager in summer. Macca and eds do u actually want him to go?personally id be gutted.ok league hasnt been good this year but so many new players this year av played their 1st full season together. Carras age caught up with him, gerrard been injured alot, suarez got himself banned, weve had defensive injurys constantly and carrol has only now started to look like he did at newcastle. With all this we have still got to two cup finals and to be honest the only game id say we were actually terrible in was the one against bolton alot of the other games we just havent finished our chances. I think he should atleast be given a few years. Just when i read these rumours it sounds like people actually want him go? Lots rant bout getting rafa back who i did like but he built a good team then wrecked it just look at the mess he left behind even the youth we ad to get rid of as they wernt good enough and on huge wages.

Lee {Ed023's Note - I would love to see Kenny stay and put all the bad luck we had this season right but whatever the owners decide I will respect}

I agree that Kenny should be given plenty more time but Ed0023, I think that the owners should be treated with some healthy scepticism. Kenny loves our club and would do anything he can for its best interests. The owners are essentially purely about profit and we can only hope that they make the right decisions that will bring success on the field to make them their profit.

Simsimo

For the manager position, it's not so much a matter of who loves the club the most, but who is most capable.

I doubt Fergie, Mourinho, or Wenger are sucessful because they love their clubs more than the owners. It really has little to do with it.

It's a shame J Terry will miss the Champions League final as I would love to see him crying again when they lose.And they will lose.

Actually you will see him lose - on the 5th! That's the only final I care about.

The CL final? I think Chelsea will win that.

I would hate to see Chelsea win final with the judas in their ranks, as this could possibly make Suarez think about moving also.

I actually expect Chelsea to win both the CL final and the FA Cup.

Hey Eds,

Have FSG looked at Carr from newcastle for DOF, seems to be doing a cracking job up there.

Ta {Ed002's Note - We really don't know what approach they are going to take.}

Carr is good friends with Ashley, may take a lot to prize him away...

Just to throw my hat in the ring reference Macca's credibility.

I'm on the site several times a day but don't post as much as I used to. 'Macca's Rumours' is the first link I go to as his information is normally spot on. He is the first to admit that we might not actually sign a player but are chasing them.

I distinctly remember Macca mentioning Coates and Bellamy 3 or 4 days before it was mentioned anywhere else (to the point I was baffled as to why we were trying to sign Colin Coates, a 27 year old Irish CB).

It seems to me the vast majority hang on your word Macca and certainly the regular posters. I certainly appreciate your info mate, so don't let a few doubters put you off.

Cheers

Bit random like but could macca actually be stevie G's bezzie mate PAUL McGRATTAN ????

He is stevie g himself

I doubt it, Paul McGrattan never stops banging on about Torres coming back.

Steven Gerrard has a slight groin injury and will only
play one more game this season..i wonder which one.

Does anyone know the odds for Aston Villa to get relegated? The same question for Birmingham to get promoted? I've got a funny feeling that these 2 Birmingham clubs will switch places!

K. Bennett {Ed002's Note - Surely some sort of gambling site would be the place to find such information out?}

Villa are 5-1 to go down, K mate. Birmingham are 11-4 to get promoted, nice double there mate. If you are going to have a flutter.

Hi Man City fan here. Ive been reading some of the comments on here about some of you wanting a change of manager & i cant understand why. When kenny came in you were in a mess he came in to help the club he loves it was always going to take time. He made some signings some havnt worked out but that is the case every where he has won you a trophy might win you another one yet but some want him out. Give the guy a chance i no what im talking about my club has chopped & changed for years & got no where. Some of you will tell me it has nothing to do with me & maybe you are right but i just think here is a guy that loves the club hes not here for the money hes here for your club so get behind kenny & wait & you will once again be the club you used to be.
BLUE MOON.

I agree 100% with you going through managers will get us no where

Nice of you to take the time to give a positive viewpoint mate, and I for one appreciate it. And I agree with it too- I'm not sure Kenny has had a totally free hand to play as he would've wanted this season, so really he's not totally to blame for tactical failures anyway.

cheers {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure any do.}

Doesn't Ed001 support LFC?

K. Bennett {Ed002's Note - I think he used to, but I am not sure he does any more.}

How can you change your team.You pick one team,and stay with them.You dont chop and change {Ed002's Note - Why not? Clubs change players and managers, why not fans as well? Most American based sports work off a franchise basis and can even change location. The Brooklyn Dodgers moved acroos America to California and became teh LA Dodgers as an example. Many of the Eds change the teams they support each season depending on who they expect to do well.}

Lol il make sure i repeat that statement to other people hahah

Ed002 is clearly being sarcastic! Ed001 is a liverpool fan to my knowledge.

Is this happening? Can you guys not feel a slight tug on the leg from ed002?

Square tomato {Ed002's Note - Damn, busted before I could mention the launch of teh green and red Liverpool Argyle kit from Warrior.}

Now how does that not surprise me ED002, unless you were trying to be sarcastic. But anyone who swaps and changes their football team, are just glory hunters. I have followed LFC since 1974, because of living in the south west and life changes I have only managed to see them 5 times, but that does not make me want to follow anyone else. Shame on anyone who changes their club like a pair of socks.

I wholeheartedly apologise ed002.

Square tomato

Ed007 the celtic fan knows a thing or 2. {Ed002's Note - He is not a Celtic fan, he is a Third Lanark supporter man and boy.}

I was under the thought that ed002 is a lady and married to ed001? Have I been wrong all these months?

ed001 what positions would you like us to sign and what player in that position?

also if kk leaves what manager would you like to replace him

thanks and keep up the good work {Ed001's Note - right wing and striker, realistic signings would be Soldado and Phillips, with Honda to help fill gaps in the squad. I really don't know what manager I would choose.}

Ed 1 is Honda realistic as I would love him also? {Ed001's Note - realistic as in he is available to buy, probably not realistic as in we seemed to have lost all interest in him. I really don't understand why though.}

Hey ed001 I keep seeing you sing the praises of Phillips. I have never seen him play (I don't think) is he really that good? Personally I think just about any proper right winger would be an improvement on what we offer on the right, but would he really take us forward and offer a new dimension in attack?

Many thanks

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - I think he would good for us, he can cover other positions as well, Blackpool have played him just about everywhere. He is quick, direct, decent crosser, and is a willing runner. Still a bit raw, but unlike Zaha, for instance, he has shown real signs of making progress technically.}

25 Apr 2012 16:28:04
Firstly congratulations Ed 002. Now in all honesty I believe the owners will probably go foreign (possibly even Rafa back) but I would like to hear ED 001's thoughts about this. Toshack and Roy evans (i know Ed 001 is a massive fan) had to oversee the changing of the old guard at Wales and bring through a very, very young side, and although they never got to see the results they deserved, Garry Speed was begining to reap the rewards of all the work they had put in.
The point is, what would you think about Tosh as DOF, Kenny as manager with Roy alongside him?
We need to bring the kids through over the next couple of seasons, they are respected in the game, Tosh has Spanish contacts and speaks it ( always good with our acadamy staff) since his days as real manager.
Not the current glamour names people on here will want though.
RNred {Ed001's Note - I don't know about Tosh, Roy Evans I would love to see back, the style of football under him was breathtaking. I never really got to see the style of football Toshack favours, so I can't really give an opinion on it. Though he is very well liked in the Basque region, so perhaps it would enhance our chances of attracting a few from Bilbao!}

Interesting! Toshack,Evans and Kenny. I like all 3 mens philosophy and views on Football.
I shall sleep on this and click agree or disagree tomorrow.
kidmillions

I'd like to see Roy Evans back at the club, was the manager when I first started supporting Liverpool, and he did have them playing some awesome football. Feel he was pushed out the door by the Houllier appointment, and he's always come across as an intelligent and passionate man when talking about Liverpool.

Rugby Parker

Ed is Bielsa a realistic choice of manager for next season? would we consider him and would he be interested in joining us?
cheers,
Josh {Ed002's Note - Perhaps a slim chance but we cannot say if he would be interested or not, particularly if another very good option is available to him in Italy.}

We all wait with baited breath on Kidmillions views!!

I'm not too sure how much money Bielsa is on in Bilbao, but i have my suspicions that it is in the "bugger all" category. A while back, when he left the Chilean national team, he was reportedly being targeted to take over for the australian national team, for - what i can only assume was a lie - 750K in aussie dollars. But all reports were that he was going cheap, and may well be VERY affordable.

A Gooner here...very surprised at how you have done in the league and your problems are not too different to ours, except we have RVP to thank otherwise we wouldnt be where we are. However unlike us, you have a trophy and hopefully beat the Chavs for your 2nd one.

Some supporters are worried that if Barca couldnt break down a 10-man team, then what chances do you guys have against them with all 11 men. Well, firstly, Barca lost the tie in the 1st leg IMO, and yes the stats will say it was a clean sheet, but their finishing in front of goal that night was not too dissimilar to how you guys have done in front of goal throughout this season, where you created loads of chances (like you did against us at Anfield) but couldnt score.

We had 10 men in the 2006 final for about 80mins, and they hardly created much until Larsson came on, and Henry should have made it 2-0 but thats history. Bendtner should have scored for us last year which would have knocked Barca out but didnt, so I'm just pointing out that Barca are not invincible by any means and they didnt have Villa or somebody like Eto'o to help them.

I really think you guys can win at Wembley, because players like Gerrard and Suarez will be up for it, and if you can put some really good crosses in, then the likes of Carroll can be a threat. I still wont buy into all this determination and grit tosh because Chelski have been so damn lucky and as a Gooner I believe Liverpool can and will succeed in both matches (FA Cup and league).

Good luck !

They will have to actually play football against us because they didnt last night.

I am a LFC supporter from South Africa. I have visited Anfield about 6 times and I have had the honor of playing soccer at the Academy with Jan Molby. When I asked him about Andy Carrol and the summer signings he told me that Kenny must have seen something in him but I could see that he was being neutral. When I had a chance to ask him at Anfield about where Gerrard's best position was he said behind the main striker. Why does Kenny insist on playing him in the middle? He does not have the discipline to play in the centre. Henderson played well against West Brom but he doesn't have a good partner. He has a lot to offer though. Maybe grab Rodwell from the blues and let these 2 play together. Works for England! Another thing against West Brom where was the heart??Bellamy and Downing where disappointing!

I think gerrard, like the rest of the team is missing the security and the tempo lucas provides.

Rodwell?? Seriously?
He is as injury prone as aurelio, n definitely not an improvement on spearing. Another OVER HYPED ENGLISH PLAYER.

Just goes to show you the difference in some footballers. In our squad alone, we have a fat Italian who is too lazy to train and has had no desire to kick a ball to earn his ridiculously high wages, and a stand-out human being like Dirk who leaves everything on the pitch to make Liverpool successful, and uses his money and influence to do good across the globe. God bless yi Dirk, you will go down as a Liverpool legend, I have no doubt.

Rugby Parker

Fat Italian? which one? If you mean Aquilani, 1 he is not in our squad, and 2 he showed his class when he got to play for us, not his fault the last 2 managers didnt want him. Would have him in our team above Adam any day, and now AC wont play him so they dont have to buy him. I would go all out to persuade him to give us one year to see what happens.

When will these 2 learn that they are dealing with a British court. And not a corrupt Texas court.

" A British High Court judge today said he did not trust two American businessmen who used to own Liverpool Football Club.

Mr Justice Peter Smith said Tom Hicks and George Gillett had "demonstrated" that they would "abuse" the court process if it suited them.

Texas-based Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett lost control of Liverpool when the club was sold to New England Sports Ventures “ headed by another American businessman, John W Henry “ in a £300m deal in October 2010.

The judge criticised Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett when hearing evidence at the High Court in London during the latest phase of litigation launched following the sale.

He refused to allow Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett to have "full and unrestricted" access to private documentation featuring in the litigation because of fears about "potential misconduct".

The judge said an American lawyer representing Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett had twice misled an American court in October 2010 following the Liverpool sale.

He said Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett had given "no credible explanation" for that lawyer's behaviour and suggested they had taken a "Manuelesque “ 'I know nothing"' stance.

"I do not trust your clients," the judge today told British lawyers representing Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett in the current High Court litigation.

"(They) have demonstrated ... that if it suits them they will abuse the process."

Hi Ed,

1- Do you think players like Adam & Downing is available for sale? [keep hearing Villa will be spending some cash in the summer & significant changes expected there and they are trying to get Adam & Downing on a double swoop]

2-Any Clubs interested in Andy Carroll so far, I heard Totenham has interest in him? [Adebayor Replacement]

Cheers

Bosco {Ed002's Note - I doubt Downing will be sold; Adam I don't know. Carroll you will need to wait and see what happens.}

Alot of our fans are blaming kenny but kenny has got bigger job on a small budget if you see our net spend its like 30/40 million at the same time our owners are reducing wages and our fans demand decent players but decent players coast decent wages if you see facts then kenny has done good job and plz don't compare to newcastle they have higher up their wage compare to last season and I personally believe they have a rollercoaster season

I believe its just paper talk regarding spurs and carroll, they have interest abroad not at home

no one knows whos coming in but this is a list of who should go:

GK:
doni
jones

def:
wilson
darby
johnson
aurelio

mid:
cole
aqualani
amoo
maxi

fwds:
eccleston
pacheco

12 players to leave LFC, its a lot not sure it will happen. Think 1 of the keepers will stay and another will be brought in. Not sure Johnson will go - has it too good at LFC so unless Kenny doesn't want him i think he will stay. Maxi is a great squad player - yes he is paid a lot compared to others but his goals are worth it when he plays. Eccelston needs a chance in the starting 11 in these final games of the season before we should totally write him off. As for the rest I think they will be let go, contracts bought out or sold.

Too many conspiracy theorists on here, it matters not whether Commoli or KK picked the system or who was in charge of transfers, weve played with what weve got and were finishing where were finishing, we cant change it, Ive been as guilty as anyone for being impatient with the whole thing but to be honest maybe we should all get back to just being fans, were not always going to be in agreement with transfers etc but its not gonna stop us supporting the club either, 3 trips to wembley in a season will do even if we have been poor in the league, lets just look forward to the cup final and see what happens pre season, One way or another we know there are gonna be big changes somewhere............

Hi,

I just saw Macca's post where he is trying to justify that he is in the know and is not lying about the Liverpool targets and news.

I think Macca does not even need to justify himself as most of us on this site know how you have provided with vital information days before it has actually come out in any news website and it has mostly been right.

The ones who are doubting the real Macca are deluded and do not know what they are talking.

Macca, Cheers mate!

Regards,

Ashish (fan from India) {Ed023's Note - IMO Macca has proved enough that he has legit contacts but newcomers to the site will question and no matter how much you're right people just love to question people for 'attention'}

Macca is spot on and we should be pleased that he shares what he can on here. Noting that certain things are desired (even when they don't happen) is perfectly understandable. I, for one, don't doubt the integrity of his posts - along with the Eds. thanks, whoever you are Macca.

Macca/Eds in Jan it was said that we tried but failed to loan Luc Castaignos from Inter and Macca has recently backed this up. 25 Apr 2012 13:16:30
Eds,another question about Damien Commoli and Dalglish if you wouldn't mind answering it? If we are playing a totally different style of football this season,and that's down to D.C,then now that he's gone wouldn't it make sense to let Kenny use his own style and method as it proved successful last year? And surely with the success K.D has had with his playing style in his managerial career, he would be upset to forfeit his brand of football for a system that clearly isn't working? Or is it a case of do as we say,or lose your job from the owners? And lastly if the style was set by D.C,and Kenny got to pick his choice of Damiens players,is the criticism of him this year slightly unjust? If he is more or less getting his players picked for him in terms of transfers,and his style of play is dictated by his DOF?! Doesn't leave much room for Kenny to be Kenny,if you ask me. I'm probably reading too much into things,but would appreciate any input you may have! Thanks! WelshBoyDave {Ed002's Note - I suspect that the influence of Comolli over the style is being overplayed.}

People who are saying that Chelski will win the Champs League need to stop.

What is the main reason they won against Barca? 10 ---> 9 Defenders and a Cech in goal. How are they going to do that against Real/Bayern when half of the "heroes" from the that game are Suspended/injured?

On a more important note, if i am correct, those suspensions dont carry across to the FA Final. I am one worried LFC fan because if Chelski can defend well enough with 10 men against one of the best attacking teams in the world and we struggle to put goals past teams like Wigan and Bolton, it doesnt bode well.

I know this season swings in our favour when it comes to Chelski but that game last night added fear for me about the FA Final.

I can just see a boring 1-0 defeat for LFC with 20 shots on goal 2 missed penalties, 4 deflections of the woodwork and a winning goal from Torres to really hammer the nail home on this season for us.

Tell me if any of you other beautiful fans dont have that thought sat in the back of your craniums?

Like it " Your crying it in ". Nice one.

Waro

Have you not learnt anthing about English football being unpredictable?
Also we are massive underdogs for this final and if anything that suits us...

But are they going to sit back in fear against us like they did against Barca?

What does Roman want FA Cup or European Cup. If the manager wants the job next season his best bet would be to concentrate on the League (get a better position to finish) and go all out on Europe.Save the squad for the big match in Europe.

Barca the so called best team in world football beaten twice by the 5th or 6th best team in england hmmmmm somehow i just dont think they are best team in the world i think they play the best football but they are not the best team i dnt think barca could handle the premier leauge neither could messi just my opinion i think madrid or bayern best teams both can play long ball or nice pass and move not being funny but i hope chealski win cl imagine wot it would do for the premier leauge i think i would attract a cosiderable amount if talent to the english teams again just my opinion. STEMLOCC1 {Ed023's Note - They got beat once and had 83 percent possession when drawing last night. They're still the best football side I have ever seen}

What a tragic post

They got beaten by the better footballing team!

If you can write rubbish I can too. STEMLOCC1 you have proven you lot have lost the plot.

Chelsea went in with a game plan, executed that game plan with an extreme amount of luck and an unbelievable amount of determination and now have the opportunity to win the Champions League. All of you claimed we had no chance to beat Barca over two legs and look what happened. Say it again about Bayern or Real, but sign your posts.

You do realise Messi; a man who is considered by some the best ever at 24 years of age, hit the bar... from the spot... to win the tie. If he hits it Torres isn't open in acres with Barca still pushing for the goal that they would've had already. One of a bag of chances that could have gone in on another night. Its the beauty of football. Chelsea have proven this year in Europe that we are a force and have unbelievable heart.

It was big of some to pass well wishes on CFC page, and the Chelsea Appreciation Day on here is superb, I spoke to some people and they are putting on an Exhibition Match on the 5th of May just for you lot.

Melbourne CFC

Ed23 they probably are still the best team but ... Barca's team last year was better than this one. Far better balance, more variety in attack and could defend. They still pass the ball fantastic but it was all a little predictable. For me Fabregas' signing has unbalanced the team which against better sides such as Milan, Chelski and Madrid has created issues...

Richards

Too right Ed. This is a daft post of FIFA 12 type thinking.

Where are athletic Bilbao? 8th? 7th? They beat our Champions and this years leaders! Are you trying to say, by this logic, that Bilbao is the best team in the world?

No taffy,you miss the point. You go around having a pop at people who don't agree with your glowing praise of one of our biggest rivals. Honestly if you want to sing chelseas praise then that's fine but to have a go at other liverpool fans because they don't agree with you is pure idiocy! This is a Liverpool page after all. It has nothing to do with being bitter,I couldn't care less how chelsea get on when it doesn't affect us. Simples. So your point is rather pointless. You put your own congratulations on Chelsea on,fair enough. But to have a pop at Liverpool fans for disagreeing with you is a bit silly on the liverpool site. You sounded like a blue,in all honesty. But whatever,its done now and I don't want to start arguing with my fellow reds! As Kenny says,we are much stronger when we stick together! So accept my apologies for calling you a twonk,hardly any need for name calling because I disagree with you,because two wrongs don't make a right do they? WelshBoyDave

I Believe Macca has become a symbolism of abuse due to his rumour sucess and our fan base being given to much information. People should realise that things change if macca gets a few details wrong so what its runours. People are seeking to much information in a period of the season where we have a important game coming up, and behind the scenes little will be going on in order to keep the squad motivated and ready for the FA Cup final. To slag off a individual and doubt this whos is doing his best to provide you with information is ludicrous. The fact is if we continue to question his constantly hes going to get sick of it and bog off.

Cheers Eds and macca fantastic site

He seems to have gone A.W.O.L. since the semi! p.s. Was informed last nite that as part of the Jelivic transfer everton and rangers will be playing a pre-season game which will be advertised as EL BRASSICCO!

having a heated debate with a friend over chelsea's performance last night, we are both season ticket holders at anfield and he refuses to give chelsea any credit for last night as they 'parked the bus', but i say you have to give credit where it is due, i thought the performance last night was outstanding, drogba a player i think is everything that is wrong with football, the shift he put in last night along with ramires was unbelievable, my philosophy with any sport is win first look good second, in years to come history will show chelsea went through and no one will remember how, i think some liverpool fans forget the miracle of istanbul in 2005, in my opinion we were the worst side to ever win the european cup but we won end of, and thats all that matters and it is probably the greatest night i have ever had as a liverpool fan.

Contradictary nonsense.

Re: Instanbul

First half we were the worst team in CL history...
Second half we were the greatest team in CL history...

no team has ever had to come back from that kind of deficit in such an important match...I'm not sure if I'll ever see something like that again...

What lots of people dont see was that Chelsea didnt beat Barca it was simply Di Matteo who outwitted Guardiola.On the night Guardiola's plan failed and he must now figure out a way to beat teams that defend like that. If you were to send both teams out there without tactical advice Barca would hammer them

Liverpool champs league final against ac more of a comback than last night.
Dragon 3383

Djimi traore and harry kewell have a champions league winners medal because of that night, no side with those two in it can ever be called a great side, i would actually say the team in 2007 that lost the final was a far better side than the 2005 winning side.

2001 uefa cup semi final. 0-0 at the nou camp. we parked 2 buses. Just sayin. . .

I got alot of abuse yesterday for saying i felt happy for nando its obv you guys still love him so deeply or you wouldent be botherd about him and just let go of the past id rather have surez over nando any day so please dont tell me to go to the chealski page you only make a fool of yourself not me. STEMLOCC1.

You're right mate. I was as gutted as anyone when Nando left and in a way still am, and although it's been some fun watching him fail I honestly do wish him the best. He did great for our club and although I heard he had a bit of a fall out with us when he left, but I think he deserves some respect for being such a beast while with us. Last night I criticized every touch he took, and then he scored! So really it's fair enough to him, and I wish him the best of luck.

Thanks, Ell.

Please go to the Chelsea page, why would we want back a striker that over TWO seasons has only managed a goal every TEN games??? Please talk about Liverpool related issues, i am fed up of people like you who have this obsession with ex-players that left years ago, and now play for another team, get over it!

PS, Why would you tell people to not say something because it makes them look a fool? If you are frightened of the reaction to your posts, then stop telling people how they feel about a certain player, when they do not feel that way!

Could it really be the City of Londons 1st European Cup in 57 years ?

It will be interesting to see if the Londoners actually have it in them to win on the biggest stage .

Qwerty

They would have a better chance if it was over two legs and they could park the Bus.
Can't really do that in a Final.
I think they'll get exposed in both Finals.
kidmillions

'' the City of London '' I just hate to be pedantic Qwerty, lol
But get your RSBitter facts right...
Perhaps simply Londoners would have been more accurate.............
unless of course it was the ''TOWER OF LONDON 11'' that was playing rotfl:)
Anyway good luck to ANY English team in a Euro CL Final ;)

DeepblueT

It is remarkable how all London football clubs have failed to win a European Cup in 57 years of the competition .

The Midlands have 3 and the North of England have 8 European Cups .

Only time will tell whether Cockneys are actually capable of winning the biggest club game of all .

I know some of the fellow Reds here, don't want to hear about Chelsea.

But one has to give credit where it is due, Chelsea did a fantastic job last night, nullified the 'so called' Barca wonder attack, and defended really well.
Like I said give credit where it is due, and Chelsea is worthy of praise today.
I for one was happy to see Torres score, and essentially clinch it.
Barca, really only have one approach to the game, one game plan, and that did not work.

I am also happy for Di Matteo, who has really done a great job in a difficult time.

I wish Chelsea well in the final.
Food for thought.

I was watching it and really reminded me of our struggle to beat teams this year at home but hey credit to chelsea they did there job and got the win and i dont agree with rat face that it was one of the biggest nights in europe lol.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggguuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh as he would say i really did crinch when he did that lol
k-h

Two legged tie against Barca suited Chelsea tactically, they were able to just sit behind the ball home and away.
And even playing defensively in the last 3 games. Barca hit the woodwork 4 times and missed a penalty and Arsenal hit the woodwork twice.
So don't worry fellow Reds. Them tactics won't work in a one off Final.
They will have to come out and play; which will expose their dodgy defence? Which we were able to exploit at the bridge, when they had to come
out and play, twice earlier this season.

Ed, I was struck by a comment made yesterday, about Comolli's influence on our playing style, and I'd be really grateful for more detail if you can.

I had previously thought that the DoF was a glorified chief scout and transfer negotiator, and I did wonder why the title sounded so grand in comparison to the role itself.

But a reply yesterday made it clear that Comolli also had the authority to influence the team's playing style and tactics on the pitch too, and that he really was in overall charge of LFCs on-field activities.

But it was also suggested that Comolli hadn't been using his full influence when Kenny first took charge last season, and that Comolli's increasing influence on tactics etc might partly explain why our football was less effective this season.

I was wondering how a DoF and head coach will really work out- for one thing, you need two guys who really get on well, because the manager is just implementing the system and ideas given to him by the DoF, right?

Most PL managers would surely hesitate to work under a DoF, don't you think? One of the reasons they get into the job is so that they can express their own football ideas and philosophy on the pitch, not just to implement the policies and directives of a DoF.

If the DoF and manager are closely aligned in terms of ideas, it might work. But don't you think its inherently flawed to have the man calling the shots one step removed from the players, and the guy who works with them day to day is kind of a middle man, simply relaying instructions from the Dof?
It just doesn't seem sensible to me, but I'd love to hear Eds and other people's views on the extent of Comolli's on-field influence over the months, and the DoF role in general.

TC
{Ed001's Note - how it works, and I have to admit I had always believed the same as you until I looked into it following Comolli's departure, is that a DoF decides the style of play. Barca, for example, had their style of play decided by Johann Cruyff, he set out to the head coach how he wants the players to play. For instance, if he decides the way to go would to whip in a cross to the back stick every time the ball was at the byline, that would be how they would play. The coaches job is simply to teach the players to follow those instructions and to make subs and tactical changes during a game. Read this: http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/04/moneyball-statistics-and-damien-comolli/ and http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/apr/13/secret-footballer-moneyball-stoke-liverpool for a better idea mate.}

Cheers for the question TC and for the answer Ed, I've also been wondering about this so thanks to you both for clearing it up!

Ell. {Ed001's Note - I was shocked at how much power a DoF actually has myself, I always assumed they had little overall power at a club.}

Sorry Ed, I'm not having it for one minute that Kenny would work under those conditions.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - then you clearly have no idea of the man's love for the club.}

Thanks for the reply Ed, and tbh Comolli's dismissal does make more sense in the light of him having such a profound influence on playing style, as well as the less than spectacular transfer finance management (i.e. Henderson could probably have been signed for a lower fee).

It also makes me think people should stop calling for Kenny's head quite so loudly, since he is just doing his best to follow the tactical directives he was given by Damien. To give Kenny credit, he's never once publicly voiced any doubts about what he was told to do by Comolli, or criticised the guy- he takes all the flak himself.

It also makes me wonder why the owners would think that Comolli (who was essentially always a scout) would have the experience and skill to decide on-field playing style and tactics at a major club, when he has no previous significant managerial experience?

This idea is a bit off the wall, but I wonder if the poor chance conversion rate is partly attributable to a team trying to adapt their attacking tactics to suit a policy laid down by a man they don't meet every day?
Could it be that Kenny let them play with more freedom, and in a more natural and individual way in early 2011, and so they tended to be in a better position to get on the end of a goal scoring chances? Sometimes its seemed to me like the forward players are slightly 'disconnected', not enough of them getting into in the box (compared to last year), not enough clever one-touch passing compared to last year, etc.

I still think the DoF structure is inherently flawed, giving decision-making authority to a man who sin't in daily contact with the players in training, and who therefore isn't closely in touch with how things are changing and progressing, and who can't adapt and react to circumstances, but I'd love to hear people's thoughts.
I know lots of top European clubs have that setup, but I have my doubts.

Ed001: Did Comolli ever play football himself at any level. To my way of thinking, unless you've played the game at whatever level, how can you possibly fully understand it.
This is the problem with half the referee's "They know the rules but don't really know the game."
kidmillions {Ed001's Note - I am sure he has played the game, he would have had to at school, at the very least. The problem with referees is nothing to do with playing the game at all. Who would want to be one? They get nothing but abuse, no matter what level of the game they officiate at. That game is only going to attract the wrong type of people, most of them will choose to do it because of the power they have over footballers that were better than them at the game.}

Spot on chris

I have to say though, shouldn't it be the Manager's job to do all this? Obviously there could be some assistance behind the scenes but I've got to say I'm pretty gutted about this DoF stuff. Kenny is the manager, he should be controlling almost everything, surely!? Isn't that what the managers job is?

Thanks, Ell.

This is rather alarming, IF kenny goes in the summer, what manager would want to come in and work under those conditions ?

Wow, is any one else amazed by this! How on earth can this work? Ed what were comolis credentials then, would you suggest all these people calling for kennys head need to have a re think then? {Ed002's Note - I rather doubt much of the influencing aspects of these posts. Director's of Football have responsibilities that vary from club to club and many focus on co-ordinating scouting, overseeing contractual issues and dealing with the lower tier sides. Certainly some clubs, and Barcelona is an example, have utilised a very experienced coach in that role and allowed him to influence the style of play. Others, take Manchester United, do not have a Director of Football and some, like Chelsea, have a Director of Football with an entirely different remit.}

Whatever set up the club decides, the right people must be in the right roles in order for the club to progress.

The Academy set up with McFarland, Segura and Borrell looks like it is beginning to bear fruits, now we need to get the right people to deliver what we all want which is a Liverpool side capable of challenging and winning top honours for years to come.

Hi ed's great website. Just to make an point regarding MR Torres.
The way torres left LFC was not best, however he was great player for liverpool, he does seems to a lot of stick at moment. If we just go back to Mr Owen he refused to sign a contract with LFC when Rafa came also snubbed LFC for N.UTD and then went to M.UTD!!
Mr Torres is a cracking player only left to win silverware. Players do make mistakes !!

Morning Eds
Lots of talk on here about Kenny stepping aside and who next manager will be but I personally would like to see us promoting from within ie Carra getting his shot!
There isn't a man walking this Earth that is more commited to our club, has the all round footballing knowledge, has the passion and with the King already there to guide him into the hot seat now is the time to go back to our old ways and give the lads that have shown there worth on the pitch a chance in the dug out.
His playing days are drawing to a close and the thought of him pulling any other shirt on for a lower league club just doesn't sit right!
We all dream of a team of Carraghers!!

LFCRule

Do you want liverpool to be relegated

I very rarely drink but I have a bottle of brandy that I will crack open the day this self serving , media freindly cart horse leaves our great club and takes his cronies with him

I remember when Carra first got in the side at right back, he was awful and used to get horrendous stick for never going over the half way line, scored two whopping og against manu at Anfield. Rafa came Henchoz left. Carra played alongside Big Sammi an absolute Brilliant centre back. Since Sammi has gone Carra has gone back to being awful and also age has caught up with him.
Carra shouldn't be let anywhere near coaching for LFC.

I keep reading that people still doubt me and believe i am just trying to spoof people..

I have just read an article that surely adds a bit more credibility to my posts..

This is what was printed about Luc Castaignos who i said we where trying to sign in January,

According to esteemed Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, Liverpool are aware of his situation, and he has previously held a secret meeting with Kenny Dalglish regarding a move to Anfield...

Surely now people will agree that things can change, i thought he would sign but he did not..

Cheers

Morning Eds and Reds,

Just thought i'd say congratulations to Chelsea last night. Going to Nou Camp and qualifying was a tall task in itself but to do it with 10 men is a brilliant effort so well done.

I've noticed the amount of people slating Chelsea and their fans, mainly because of what happened during the 1 minutes silence but for other things as well. I'd just like to say I know Chelsea fans who are good mates and Chelsea fans that i can't stand. Same with Man Utd fans, same even with Liverpool fans. I 100% condemn those fans that were chanting during the silence, it was sickening, completely disrespectful to the players, the tea, the fans and most importantly, the families of those who lost loved ones. There is no defence for these scum, but lets be brutally honest here, lets labewl them as scum and not as chelsea supportes, football supporters or anything else because true supporters of any club to respect the attrocities that other clubs go through. You only have to look at different forums, social networking sites ( which i can't stand may I add ), responses to newspaper websites etc to see the support the fans of other clubs offer us on the anniversary of Hillsborough every year. And many of them Chelsea fans.

All i'm saying is enjoy football for what it is. Whether it be a past time for you or a religion to you, don't judge every fan by the minority, brainless, uneducated, scum fools that all clubs have pretending to be supporters, even ours. There will always be someone bringing the name down of a club, company, race, religion, country, to judge everyone by their standards makes us nearly as bad as them.

So on that note, once agrain congrats to Chelsea, enjoy this feeling as you won't be this happy at the end of the FA Cup Final (touch wood), and reds, lets give them last night and we will show them what Barcelona couldn't in Anfield south very soon.

Hey everyone, I had an idea.

I think it is well known that Liverpool will be staying at Anfield, and I know there is an issue with the surrounding area and how it could be regenerated/rejuvinated.

Why doesn't the club look into building a Liverpool Hotel. Offer match bundles and themed rooms. We can already see some of the other franchise opportunities liverpool have been pursuing like the Boot Room restaurant. How about sleeping in a bed room with 5 replica European cups before watching a derby the next day.

We can see other teams spreading their brand which is great for business, for some like Madrid building a resort well that's a tad insane.

Let me know what you guys think and any other ideas you would have for the area surrounding the stadium.

That is one of the most interesting posts I've read on here in a little while.
It'll probably happen.
And, to be honest, the day it does is the day I will stop going to Anfield.
Can you imagine, a Joe Fagan bedroom, a Ronnie Moran Suite ?
Probably the sound of the phone ringing will be the old Kop roar.
What a truly, truly horrible corporate future lies in store.
A parody of the old, true Liverpool FC.
But good post though.

EDS can u pls post in rumours

I dont like Chelsea in any way shape of form however I think that was 6 champions league semi final in 9 years and if people be honest they probably desrve a Champions League win.
I remember a few yearsago when they played Man U in the final mot of us wanted the to win.
We may not like their fans we definatley dont like their players or the attitude of their fans and cant stand their x manager Mouriniho.
If it came to a straight choice between chelsea and Madrid I would take chelsea purely as I DESPISE Mouriniho more.That said I hope Munich win.

Sky Bet has Daniel Agger as 6/4 to move to Barcelona in the summer. First I have heard of it. Are there any rumors to this effect?

If the owners sold all our best players then there will be a lot of empty seats at anfield

It would be very worrying if players of Daniel's calibre were sold, and it would be very revealing so far as FSG's intentions are concerned.

I'm just wondering what is going on with the England job?
Stuart Pearce is going to be GB manager, really bad decision on someones part. This was a chance for a premiership manager to play at national level. It would of been great to see someone else like SAF, the job could of been taken by someone who wouldn't of normally done the job for national team.

Harry Redknapp, - I can't see him giving up club football. Tottenham was made for him. it's near to east-end of london for him. easy team to manager. Why give it all up for a job where they sack you after the cup-comp-ends. (he may take it on as one off affair, which what I think he is planning on doing with FA. He seems to be playing chicken with them. Are they going to call him bluff and get someone else)

Luis Felipe Scolari - Scolari would be my first choice, he has been their and done it. Wont need time with the players. they will play for him

Rafael Benitez, - rafa of 2005 could do the job, but this unemployed liverpool signing on version wont. he was poor at inter tactically, but is a cup manager.

Roy Hodgson, - rubbish defensive manager
Steve Bruce, - not up to it.

David Moyes, - not up to it
Glenn Hoddle, - wouldn't accept it
Gianfranco Zola/steve clarke - great PR man. him a Steve Clarke might be a great combo.
Sven Goran Eriksson - Dirty old man
Ian Holloway - I he would be great at the interviews.

Jose Mourinho - I wouldnt expect Jose to manager any other team than Portugal.

Hoddle would grab it with both hands!

I revkon David Moyes would do a terrific job. If you think about it, the last 2 managers who had a significant stay (not Mclaren) were Sven and Fabio Capello. Both are tactically very good, but England still struggled and underperformed under them. What they need is a motivator, there is a lot of talent in England and all they need is someone who has the ability to get the players up for a match. Which is why Harry should get the job, tactically he brings next to nothing to the table. But he is one of the best motivators around, he has the ability to turn underperforming players into very good ones. Just my thoughts anyway.

This final reminded me of the Liverpool-Chelsea final of 2005. Very tense for all Chelsea fans. I remember how scared I was that night... especially when Gudjonson smashed one from about 6 yards past the post! Good luck Chelsea, hope you win it!

BthekingB

BthekingB we may not always see eye to eye but I would be glad to be the first to say thanks. Alot of you boys have been over on our page to congradulate us and to wish us luck in the final. Shows some real class. Obviously May 5th tones will change but I am very impressed by those LFC fans who can show support to a rival club in Europe.

AnfieldUSA is a dead set donkey!

Yes fab win for chelsea we all have to repect you for that.ynwa

I admit, deep down inside me I wish that chelsea do win it and tottnham or new castle get fourth. Know why? Football fans should, not plastics.

hi Macca and eds ,
You previously mentioned that the plan was to sign 5 players in the summer. I'd like to know IF suarez and/or carroll are moved on would that figure increase to say 7 or would replacements be within the 5?

Thanks
redblood {Ed005's Note - Macca said we wanted 5 players in the Summer but from what I seen he mentioned 5 as in how things stand, so I'd imagine if we sold Suarez or Carroll depending on how much we'd get we would seek replacements.}

Just wondering, Macca said 5 players have been scouted for our team. how are we going to afford 5 players? (very cheap player £8m X 5 = £40m) but this will be a waste of money. Decent players start at £20m if your name is lfc. people jackup the prices on us because where a big club. 5 x 20m = £100m mark, So we must be selling some players in order to fund this mass change up in the playing squad.

Iv ear marked a couple G-Johnson, £14m, Kuyt £8m, Gerrard £22m, Skrtel/Agger £15m. (i think cbk needs more pace) £59m player sales+ 38m (transfer-pot) = £97m. I don't think Carroll is worth more than £10m at the moment so I don't see him going anywhere until he improves for us.

If we sold Suarez, lfc could easily end up getting relegated next season. All our play seems to go through him.

Players come and go and teams adapt to a new style. Suarez (who will not leave unless we get another stupid amount for him) actually sometimes hamper our play and goal chances as he holds the ball too long. But he does create a goal out of nothing (when we finally start converting). We will not get relegated you muppet (meant in gest)

Hi Eds,
Just a random question re Torres situation at Chelsea. Is he looking to leave or are Chelsea actively looking to sell him at present. Don't want him back but it would am interested to know.

Many thanks

JTR {Ed005's Note - Not very sure. Perhaps Ed002 would be better to answer. }

Thanks, Ed0002? any insight? {Ed002's Note - Nothing has been deceided, but if he wants to leave he will be allowed to if an acceptable offer comes in from a club he is willing to join.}

Ed firstly then fellow posters,lets open the debate on the 5 signings success so far by grading them over whole piece at club.Only my view,so hold your bitching.Im merely canvasing views.Mine-Carrol-was 3 outve 10/,now 5.5 outve 10
Hendo-was 4 outve 10/,now 5 outve 10
Downing-was 5.5 outve 10/,now 4.5 outve 10
Adam(on what seen till injury)-was 5 outve 10/latter half of games pre injury=4 outve 10
Enrique-was 8 0utve 10/,Now 5.5 outve 10
Hardly rip roaring success.Carrol made improvement of late.But hardly see him as top drawer ever.But hope proved wrong.Must do better-All and Kenny signing wise.Would only be a view ladies

Enrique has a resale value of £11 million, the others we would end up losing money on. I cant see people paying 20m for downing or henderson, or 35m carroll. These players would have to be in the best form of their lives to get that kind of money.

Then only teams like Bara, Real, Man City would want them for £20m. Can't see us making a profit on them, unless they improve and move up into super elite players. Then why would you sell them?

We over spent on Henderson and Carroll and Downing.

Downing worth £14m, but villa bought him less than a session ago. We should have bought him from middleborough.

Henderson, Steve Bruce took the piss with us on Henderson £20m price tag. knowing that we where liverpool fc, plus they needed to wholesale change their team. We should of walked away and waited for them to come to us, and paid them in performance based fee. They get £20m if henderson hits targets. ect. Otherwise he too is worth £14m max.

Lee Cattermole would of been a better signing

Enrique resale of 11m?? lol

His value if anything has gone down mate

Ole {Ed005's Note - After the season he's had at Liverpool? I very much doubt it.}

Can't really moan about Enrique when you compare him to the likes of Traore, Insua, Dossena and Konchesky...

As abramovich has this burning desire to win the champs league. Is there any chance that Chelsea win and he walks away from the club as job done and he's no longer got the biggest bank balance to buy success it would leave CFC in a hell of a mess?

Not saying I want this to happen but it makes the mind wonder!

TSB

Almost worth them winning it.Return to what they always were

Hi Eds & Reds,

Is it me or are people a little presumptuous in thinking Madrid are gonna reach final, i think Bayern are well capable of doing to Madrid what Chavski did to Barca.

I tipped Bayern to win it a while back, and put a sneaky fiver on it at tidy odds, i think they ll win it

Rebel_Red

I said bayern would be the only team to be able to beat barca on a GOOD day for barca. barca has been in a train wreck lately and you could tell that from the game tonight, barca took absoulutely no chances if they did not see a big gap. they knew chelsea could park the bus. shooting ffrom outside the 18 should have been a gimme. my opinion. but i think bayerns got this

WTF?! When have this become a chavs love-in forum? Please keep it sane, people! Singred

I agree SingRed mate. We should get back to slagging off our manager, players owners and anyone else who works at our club.

I'll get the ball rolling, Suarez is Sh!t.

We are sane. It is blind hatred towards other clubs that is insane.

Chelsea did fantastic and deserve our respect , we may benefit from their involvement in the c.l. final and i am glad barca got beat they think they are above every one look how they dealt with mash and fab in the transfer market.
