Ok so every time I/ we bash hendo calling him not good enough, he scores a goal? Somebody is a avid reader of this site shutting up us trolls ;)
Wonder when migs will start reading here, lots of appreciation for him on here.
Swear to God if he ever plays again in goal I am not watching the game.
Infact there should be a movement if migs starts the game fans should walk out of match. Will help klopp phasing him out ASAP.

24 Sep 2017 19:52:06
Keep ripping into him as he could be our leading scorer for the season as we haven't got a striker that can score.

24 Sep 2017 20:11:01
"Infact there should be a movement if migs starts the game fans should walk out of match. Will help klopp phasing him out ASAP. "

Perhaps we should fly a banner from a plane too?

We're better than this akshit please.

24 Sep 2017 20:01:57
So has anyone ever been in an electric chair for 90 mins an survived, I did yesterday watching Liverpool don't know how many times they going to put me through this haha!

24 Sep 2017 20:36:40
Mignolet has made 14 saves this season in 5 games. It's just a shame he's also conceded 11 🙈. He's also attempted more punches than Anthony Joshua of which he's probably only connected with 2 of them and I've seen vampires deal with crosses better than him. We should call him jigsaw as he goes to pieces in the box.

24 Sep 2017 20:42:40
Well I will reply briefly to win anything you need a striker that's scoring 20+ goals per season then the rest chip in I can't remember the last time we had a striker than stugg and Suarez so please correct me if am wrong.

24 Sep 2017 20:53:26
You missed 'he couldn't catch a cold' Who was it that said the old ones are the best? They were very wrong.

24 Sep 2017 21:03:32
Ha ha ha jigsaw jayden didn't the newcastle fans used to call lee clark that.

24 Sep 2017 21:55:26
Harry what is your point? Henderson is 27. So for the first 3 years with us he was still a young player, And he has spent the last 2 seasons in defensive midfield or on the treatment table. He had one season at about 24 years old where he was played as a box to box midfielder and he scored 7 goals and created 15.

You are the first person to start banging the drum that he is a ball winner though. So why are we now judging him on goals?

You slagged him off for weeks and after he scored, rather than give him a break for a few days, you have started slamming him for not scoring more, when it isn't his bloody job in our team. I urge you to look up how many Mascherano, Alonso and Lucas scored mate. Alonso got 19 in 210 games. Lucas got 7 in 346 games. Mascherano got 2 in 139 games. Henderson actually has 24 in 248 appearances. So he is well ahead of even Alonso in terms of goals per game, who took the odd set piece or penalty and played in a much better and more stable LFC team.

Really don't know why i have to do that to explain to you that deeper midfielders don't score goals. I would've thought it was common sense.

24 Sep 2017 22:09:21
The team needs balance a midfielder who doesn't care about anything but sniffing danger all our midfielders do the same job if we had a sitter wid 2 in front would b a lot better also s big dominant center half and full backs who can defend 1st then attack, also have to agree with above post we need a proper centre forward, all the teams from 1st to 6th have this or strengthened those areas except us criminal.

24 Sep 2017 22:48:32
Mk am with u there, also how unselfish hendo is the amount of times he been one on one and give it to the likes of firmino, harry just doesn't like the lad yet i think he was our best player sat night mate.

24 Sep 2017 22:57:50
Do we not score enough for you hailstones? Your post is terrible mate, we score at will why do we need another striker? Harry, I can't believe you are now judging Hendo on how many goals he's scored! It's like judging Couts on how many defensive headers he wins! Yes he can do it but it's not what he's there for!

24 Sep 2017 23:00:39
hendo will be fine. it's become popular to say he doesn't or can't pass forward. I remember a numpty in my high school football team would just lump the ball forward at any time, aimless and hopeless. I'd be calling for the ball at wingback and he'd just say - "why go backwards, we can go forward" well he was crap, and that way of thinking is crap.

I've always thought hendo would be more useful in a box to box role, . r at least influencing the play higher up the pitch. sam as Can. playing in that 'deeper" position works against his natural instincts, and I think is delaying his development in that position.

25 Sep 2017 00:46:19
I think Henderson normally does a decent job as the deeper midfielder but is more suited to the box to box, as does Can and Wiji and Grujic and Keita and Ejaria. Whether by intent or poor planning or lack of prioritization in a DM, i don't know but i certainly think we would benefit from having a good one in the squad.

25 Sep 2017 03:17:25
I saw Hendo playing plenty of forward passes on Saturday. Great player who reacted when the critics were on his back. Chuffed for the lad. People say he isn't vocal enough but about ten minutes of air time on bt sport was Hendo shouting at someone. His goal was very coolly taken.

So that's forward passes, vocal and goal scorer. Not to mention all the tackles, interceptions and switches he played. That performance was why I like Jordan so much.

25 Sep 2017 03:19:46
The twenty goal a season post was written by a moron who surely must know salah is almost half way there already and the season has barely started.

25 Sep 2017 03:25:05
I thought comparing Henderson to other midfielders was futile, wasn't it MK?
So why compare him to alonso, mascherano and lucas!

25 Sep 2017 04:56:43
Deep midfielders doesn't score goals! Yes!
But they do shield the defense and control a footbalmatch ductating from the deep. Something he doesn't!
Lack of goals was the main reason he was dropped deeper.
Where do you think he will play if the club buys a proper holding midfielder! He won't replace Kieta / Wiji / Lallana ( Klopp's pet) upfront nor he would displace a proper holding mid! This is his final year!

25 Sep 2017 05:57:14
Harry - Henderson wasn't dropped deep due to not scoring enough goals - he was dropped deep because we lack options in that department.

Besides scoring goals isn't what we need him for - when he's played right he's great at getting the ball forward, seeing out the right plays and tackle through. His work rate is top and we all know how valuable he is for us when fit and played properly.

I don't think you're right about him not being able to replace any of the players you mention. Keita hasn't even arrived yet, I am excited too, but let's see how it pans out when he's had a game for us. I'd also take a fit Henderson over Wijnaldum all day every day. Lallana and Henderson might not offer exactly the same, but they still offer equally to our team.

Besides he has time to improve in the holding role, it's a long season so let's see it all out before we even start to talk about next season.

25 Sep 2017 06:44:43
Yea! Come next summer we will have options in the deep and I ll see who he replaces up front! Wijnaldum and Lallana are Klopp's pets! There is no chance Hendo would replace anyone of them! Our midfield for next summer would be a holding mid - Keita - Coutinho ( fi he stays ) .

Can you tell me h is he better than Can in the deeper role.

{Ed001's Note - what makes you think Can will be here?}

25 Sep 2017 06:59:35
You just said yourself that we'll bring in a holding midfielder next season. If we assume that you're right (I believe so too) there's really no point in discussing whether or not he is better than Can in the holding role. Neither are going to play there next season.
Besides it seems most likely that Can won't be a Liverpool player come next season.

Whenever Henderson has been fit he has played for us. Add to that, that he is our captain this alone should tell you that he won't get dumped.

25 Sep 2017 07:24:30
Hendo is wasted at DM in my opinion. Probably the best midfielder we have to do the job because he's disciplined but offers more going forward than others in the team. People seem to forget how good his link up play is when giving and receiving in and around the oppos box just because his job nowadays is to keep the ball and pass sideways. If we buy a DM (or two) next summer our midfielders to compete for those two advanced CM positions should be Couts, Hendo, Wiji, Keita and Lallana. Milner, Can and Grujic will likely leave I'd say.
Still don't think Bobby is a striker by the way!

25 Sep 2017 08:11:26
The Red

Till we bring someone in that is January / Summer. Play Emre Can there! Who knows he might change his mind by end of December.
Can is technically a better player than Hendo any day of the week!

25 Sep 2017 08:47:28
Wiji and Lallana are Klopp's pet yet in your next sentence they are dropped next season! Make your mind up!

25 Sep 2017 09:53:03
Spot on, MK. To "some' on here, Hendo can do nothing right. He has a great game all around like Sat?, "they" say he did not make any forward passes which is patently false. They say he does not score goals enuff. Well, he gets us the winner on Sat But "they" come back and shift the narrative again, saying that suddenly he does not score enuff goals. People need to cut the BS and get right to the point here.

"These" people don't like Hendo. In fact, they hate his guts, period. In "their" eyes the boy can do nothing right. The boy has played multiple games for us while carrying an injury BUT that's not enough for them. It will NEVER be enuff so I suggest people move on from such disingenuous and dishonest posts from the Hendo Haters. They will never change nor learn.

25 Sep 2017 09:56:48
Making my mind he will have more pets next summer!

24 Sep 2017 19:19:22
watching Liverpool play should come with a health warning, we need to learn better game management, yesterday we were 2-0 and then 3-1 up, that should be enough for most teams to build a platform for victory, we seem to take it upon ourselves to throw these winning positions away, I agree with the posts about mignolet I also think both lovren and matip need to be replaced I hope ed001 is right and overtime we have a brand new centre half partnership, I wouldn't hesistate to play Gomez there right now, frankly he couldn't do any worse than the senior players. Plus points for me were countinho, and I thought sturridge was very sharp when he came on, as for salah he was once again superb, missed a sitter no problem, brilliant header to make up for it, with the beard he reminds me of jerry Garcia, 6 goals already and plenty more to come, the return of mane is also timely, however unless we sort our defence out I fear the attackers efforts will be in vain, over the course of a season we will need to win those ugly scrappy matches 1-0, we won't with such a poor backline.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 19:34:53
Spurs were 3-0 up and ended up hanging on. Away games are tough in this league, no ones ever beaten until the final whistle.

24 Sep 2017 20:07:00
You're both correct KK7 and Ingsy. However, we still have to do better defensively and keep those clean sheets cos we are the only team on the planet that can score 3 goals esp. away from home and STILL not win or maybe even lose and like Watford, it almost happened again last night due to pathetic individual errors by a pathetically incompetent GK. A new CB, good CB pair will not help you if you have a crap GK who scares the life out of his defence and breathes panic into the whole backline. These are were our issues lie.

24 Sep 2017 20:07:52
spurs have a better defence than us ings, we are dreadful in that department, there is no getting away from it, at this rate we are on course to concede 50+ goals, something has to change and soon.

24 Sep 2017 20:25:29
I agree with you Bingo, I don't think mignolet should ever play for Liverpool again, he is awful in every department, I don't care how many penalties he saves, should we keep milner around just because he happens to be good at taking them? I think not, also notice how quiet the sakho fan club is now after that display at the weekend, he truly is being punished now having to play for roy hodgson, if only he had not acted like a buffoon he could be playing for us today.

24 Sep 2017 20:39:24
Weren't Spurs down to 10 men. Last time we had 10 men we conceded 5. We also conceded 3 against the mighty Watford with 11 men. Actually over the last few seasons we have been conceding 50 odd goals a season. But yeah let's ignore that and compare ourselves to Spurs over 1 game.

24 Sep 2017 21:25:29
Spurs have a better defensive record than us because they are set up defensively and hope Kane, Alli and Erikson can get the goals which they do. Our defenders are not as bad as you think. They are lacking confidence but I truly believe that's largely down to the hammering they get from the fans every time they make a mistake. It just breeds more mistakes. Migs doesn't help he needs to command his box much, much better. But he won't because he doesn't have the mental aptitude to do it. He's a technically decent keeper and a top bloke but with a weak mentality. His hesitancy causes panic then once that sets in it's hard to get rid of but these defenders have proved at other clubs they are very good players.

24 Sep 2017 21:37:08
Yeah unfortunately Spurs almost throwing it away has nothing at all to do with our near capitulation.

24 Sep 2017 21:41:17
Bingo indirectly abusing the manger who keeps picking the " crap " " incompetent " and " pathetic" GK and center backs and abuse other posters when they criticize the team ☺️☺️☺️. What a legend!

24 Sep 2017 22:52:29
Harry, why do you feel the need to go over the top and take it to the extremes time and time again?

25 Sep 2017 09:58:08
Harry, I thought you would never respond to any of my posts again. Have you had a change of heart? Pls, confirm so I can either continue to not respond to any of your comments or if I can resume and respond to the gibberish you just posted.

25 Sep 2017 15:14:31
Bingo red you should continue. You guys make for great reading. Harry is my favourite poster but I enjoy your comments.
You both make good points so as long as you you can keep the banter friendly I say continue.

{Ed002's Note - You haven't noticed it is simply tedious rubbish from the both of them?}

24 Sep 2017 18:14:41
Some say our defence is poor,
But to those I say learn to adore,
With demi-gods like Lovren, Klavan, Flanagan too,
There is no need to feel blue,
Sure we may concede two goals per game,
But with our attack there is often no shame,
Klopp is a fantastic man,
I'm sure he has a master plan,
To get the boys a title win,
Our Champions League hopes are not so thin.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

24 Sep 2017 18:27:57
Decent poem mate. Not sure anyone has ever described Flanagan as a demi god though 😂.

{Ed025's Note - demi moore more like..

24 Sep 2017 18:40:56
I would never compare the useless six-toed bugger to a thing of such beauty and talent. Moore has nothing on our Jon.

{Ed025's Note - but i dont have visions of him half naked at a potters wheel zoom..

24 Sep 2017 18:57:12
he should have played swayze's character in fact as he is more of a ghost than him on the pitch.

24 Sep 2017 19:03:57
Dont worry ed I'm sure flanno will get a move to stoke soon and you won't have to imagine it, as I'm sure that's that's the go to pose for the new signings there, like touching the this is anfield sign or standing next to shankleys bust at liverpool.

{Ed025's Note - i remember dennis wise and vinny jones writing "so what" on that sign DR S....that did make me smile mate..

24 Sep 2017 17:01:22
Hi. Sorry, not football related question. I'm from Malaysia and planning to visit anfield stadium for the first time (first time to visit UK actually) . If my bus from London arrived at One Bus station at 11:59 p. m., it's save to walk to The Z Hotel? Sorry for my bad English.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - 10 to 12 minutes according to Googlemaps.}

24 Sep 2017 17:12:27
Thanks admin.

24 Sep 2017 17:58:05
He’s asking if its safe to walk to the hotel at night and not the time it takes to walk to the hotel!

24 Sep 2017 18:14:52
Its ok. At least he/ she replied to my question. I appreciated that.

24 Sep 2017 18:35:54
It's pretty much city center there Rodish so you'll be sound. Liverpool is as safe or not as safe as any other city. Keep your luggage tight and wallet in your front pocket. Standard! 👍.

24 Sep 2017 18:46:43
Yes you should be fine, you can be on major roads all the way there and, despite what some people like to say, Liverpool is a pretty safe city. I'd be terribly ashamed if anything happened to you while you were here, it's a friendly, safe city, except for a few idiots that exist everywhere. I think you'll have a great time here in Liverpool 👍.

24 Sep 2017 19:17:20
Get a taxi mate.

24 Sep 2017 19:38:13
Just keep your wits about you. Every City has idiots. I hope you enjoy your stay.

24 Sep 2017 22:41:17
Just make sure you keep away from those Everton fans, especially the ones wearing shirts with "25" on the back 😎😎.

25 Sep 2017 00:27:31
Haha. Thanks for all the replies. can't wait to visit your lovely city and anfield especially.

{Ed002's Note - It is a light year or two from a lovely city but the team are doing well right now, so please, please enjoy. Sadly, the rest of the fans bitch about the team constantly and don't agree, but they all want to perform an unnatural act on Klipperty. But there we go.}

25 Sep 2017 19:48:22
Can you play centre half, Rodish?

24 Sep 2017 15:33:18
First of all thanks to Ed01 and Ed02 for the great insights

Even after a win, i couldn't be feeling happy with the result. Still worried about how our defense work as a unit. More than the defenders who makes me so frustrated is Mignolet. The discomfort he passes on to his teammates is huge. He simply does not know when to pass a ball to a defender or when to kick it long. Too many occasions he simply pass the ball to the nearby defenders when they are being tracked closely by opponents, causing some panic in the defense. Is that so complicated? Other thing i could notice is, he always needed an extra touch before he could clear the ball. It is always a risk if the opponent striker is going to hunt for the ball every time you have the ball.
Every long kick he makes never finds the teammate, to contrast Ward's long shots to be much better

I hate to be so negative on our player but he is never learning nor working on his mistakes.

This is a much needed win tough, i strongly believe we will turn things around

Regards
Rakesh LFC.

If you want to add a positive as you feel bad, he saves almost half the penalties against him in the premiership. 7 out of 15.

24 Sep 2017 17:16:20
And is the creation of a lot of the penalties that are given away in the 1st place. Yesterday was a prime example. Don’t get me wrong love the guy, but just watching him puts the fear of god into me anytime he’s near a ball, never mind what effect he has on the others in front. I must ad as well that I would put Moreno into the very same category as well. Two great lads who try very hard but there’s better players there already and I’m shocked they are not regulars.

24 Sep 2017 18:23:23
Difficult to beat Rafa's record.
Picked a different team 99 times in a row. 100th game he picked the same team 😃.

24 Sep 2017 20:09:53
we still had a better defence though ron.

25 Sep 2017 00:29:48
Guys,

We should be careful with what we wish for.

Karius looks worse than Migs and makes everyone nervous but is a better entertainer. Rem when he let the ball in almost without any pressure.

It has to be Ward or Migs.

Cheers.

24 Sep 2017 13:20:19
Ed01 just out of curiosity what would you think of matip moving to a dm, by that a mean with him good on the ball the passing side shouldn't be a problem and he wouldn't be last line of defence, or do you think he would be out he dept?

Believable0 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - he is far too sluggish working back to play in an area of the pitch that requires much more running than the centre of defence. Not a good idea for me. He would be overrun there.}

24 Sep 2017 13:36:00
Also not aware enough to play Dm for me knuckles. You never see matip looking around him off the ball.

24 Sep 2017 13:39:25
Yeah a hear you ed01 mate, do u have a prefered option on who you think we should be looking at for dm?

{Ed001's Note - I just answered this on the thread for the match review mate.}

24 Sep 2017 13:50:37
Lots of people seem to think that if a CB is good on the ball but not great defensively they should move I to midfield.

At DM you need to be good on the ball and great defensively and generally work a lot harder.

It's the reason that John Stones isn't a DM or Phil Jones. They aren't DMs they are just poor defenders.

24 Sep 2017 14:08:18
Matip used to be a dcm reddawn.

24 Sep 2017 14:09:01
Why don't you go and buy one in January? Till then play Can there!

24 Sep 2017 14:12:03
Seen it ed01 cheers, agree superred like a say it was just curiosity incase anybody thought he would be capable of stepping up pal.
Dawn curiosity on think mate two diffrent options fella. Not sure about stones but didn't man u try jones in that position mate?

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate and Jones played DM a lot before United bought him and played well there. There is nothing wrong with the lad as a player, he is a good defender, just loses his head every so often and goes into rash challenges. Worst thing is, from his point of view, is that he always ends up picking up an injury doing so.}

24 Sep 2017 14:28:45
Harry i don't have that kind of money to just go buy a dm mate, sorry pal.

24 Sep 2017 18:23:52
What about a DF knuckles? 😉.

24 Sep 2017 19:17:26
A have got enough for a sunday dinner ron mate and with my credit score they wouldn't give me a pot noddle on tick so am busted mate ha.

24 Sep 2017 20:49:56
Superred i didn't know matip used to play there pal, but that alone probably answers my question he mustn't of done well in that position.

24 Sep 2017 12:54:40
I didn’t finish my post oops but we’d still have: Ings, Woodburn, Kent/ gray, Moreno, klavan and probably a few others left. That said would seriously challenge in all comps. Currently we don’t have enough depth and our defensive problems are likely to cost us this season. Hopefully Klopp can address this and sign better defensive players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 14:10:04
Klavan lol? Ings who hasn't kicked a ball for 2 years! Oh my word! And boy we are left with only 3 competitions.

24 Sep 2017 11:47:48
Hi Ed.
Thanks for the match report, a very good analysis of a typical LFC performance.

While I agree with you on Salah being a good exciting signing, Do you think he needs to improve a bit defensively?

I re watched the game and couldn't see one instance when he provided any cover in front of Gomes or tracked back

I know a holding midfielder would reduce the need, but until we can convince Can or Hendo that a holding midfielder should play laterally across the pitch cutting out these threats at the earliest opportunity before they become a goal threat.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he defo tracked back a few times, but it is not what matters. He is there to threaten in behind, that is what prevents the opposing fullback getting forward, more than him tracking back. Chilwell does not want to sit back and defend, he wants to charge down the flanks at will, but he barely got out of his own half. For me Salah did well forcing him back and that is far more use to us, at least in games like yesterday, than him dropping deep into his own half to help out.}

24 Sep 2017 12:32:12
Joe is definitely coming along nicely Ed. You can see small improvements everytime he play's.

{Ed001's Note - I really like Gomez to be honest. I think we have a diamond there, just needs some polishing up.}

24 Sep 2017 12:39:40
I believe he needs to improve on this too. He seems to have the same defensive mentality as when Henderson joined the club. He sort of makes himself big and pretends to be defending. He's very easy to go past for such a quick player. I think Chilwell got past him every time he ran at him. It was something they used in the second half when they were getting back into it.
But as ed said these might even be his instructions. I think they're wrong though. Seeing as he's nearly always got a youngster behind him - Gomez or TAA, and in my opinion both not in their favoured position. The midfield behind him should also be covering across don't forget.

24 Sep 2017 13:18:53
Spot on regarding Gomez.

24 Sep 2017 13:35:42
Future Liverpool captain?

24 Sep 2017 13:39:20
I remember salah tracking back near enough to our own box. Of course ed is right, salah's attacking threat keeps opposition fbs pegged back.

I thought salah had another fantastic game.

24 Sep 2017 13:50:05
I like the impact salah has had since he arrived, i know we tryed to sign him a few years ago when he went to chelsea but cannot help thinking it was a blessing in disguise he signed for chelsea at that time. By that a mean he was young and didn't settle well, and don't think he would of had the same impact a few years ago. A could be wrong like but cannot help but think the time of signing he was perfect.
Hopfully he will carry on as he is and turn out to be a legend of the mighty reds.

24 Sep 2017 20:17:55
Timing is everything, Knuckles. I can guarantee you that we would not have gotten the Salah we have now had he come to us in 2014 as he was 21 and not yet the finished article. The Salah we have now, IS the finished article and will only get better which can only bode well for us. And to those who said he was not tracking back last night, I propose they watch the game again and focus on Salah the whole time and then come back so we can discuss.

24 Sep 2017 20:43:31
Thats what a ment bingo by getting him now as like u say we wouldn't of getting the same player back thrn mate.

24 Sep 2017 11:18:54
If you think our game was bad, anybody watch Fenerbahce Vs Besiktas? That was entertaining to say the least!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 16:05:58
Aye, 5 red cards! LOL!

24 Sep 2017 10:46:37
Ed1, excellent match review. One question though: on a scale of 1 to 10, how likely is it that Klopp drops Mignolet and realises Ward is the best keeper at the club?

Cheers in advance.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - 3.66r.}

24 Sep 2017 10:53:06
Slightly higher than a third ed? There's hope!

Why do you think that he is so blindly faithful to Mignolet? Is it because he doesn't rate Karius and Ward?

{Ed002's Note - It is because Klopp has not skillset related to buying nor coaching defensive players, overlaid with him saying stupid things such as "Karius is number one" (last season) and "Mignolet is number one" (this season). And don't forget, Klopp named a fourth goalkeeper in the Premier League squad.}

24 Sep 2017 11:03:16
Do you think he now feels 'duty-bound' to back him then?
I'm assuming the 4th gk is Bogdan?

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it Nick. Last season he made it clear about Karius being number one and he was hardly used in the end. I know fans consider him to be a "world class" coach, but frankly he isn't. He really needs help sorting out the defence and good defensive coach will I am sure improve thym. Rodgers also kept away from having a defensive coach and at this point in his Liverpool career the club were getting better results. His decision making with buying defensive players (he credits himself with Caulker, Karius, Matip and Klaven whilst admits scouting staff have identified the forward players for him to look at (remember he took on alternatives to thos he picked) has been poor. The Sakho situation was handled very badly indeed. Other sides have benefitted from the improvements that defensive coaches have given them - Arsenal with the likes of Bould and for a short while Keown, Liverpool for a short-period with Stevie Clarke under Dalglish even, Dennis Lawrence reshaped the Everton defence, Chelsea has Luca Conte, etc., etc.. From my perspective they need to do something if they are going to challenge - which they are clearly more than capable from an attacking point of view. And yes, Bogdan is in the squad.}

24 Sep 2017 11:01:18
Excellent review Ed. The way you described Migs performance yesterday was 1st class. I started playing football at 7 and we were always thought to win the ball 1st even if you have to take your own man with it you make sure you win the ball. The way that you worded the review about Migs is excellent surely it's only a matter of time before Karius or Ward get's in. As for Wijaldum again a perfect review Ed.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. It is difficult to find different things to say now about some of the players!}

24 Sep 2017 11:07:52
Didn't he buy Hummels for Dortmund? I'd say that was a decent little pick out ed?

{Ed002's Note - No. Is this some sort of joke?

Hummels joined Dortmund at the behest of Zorc because then manager Thomas Doll needed the defence strengthened as the club were dropping down the table. Klopp wasn't even at the club at the time.}

24 Sep 2017 11:09:10
He is probably hoping that more competition for the position will result in better performances?

24 Sep 2017 11:19:27
Klopp does need help with the GK situation. Playing a GK some people claim he does not rate ahead of Karius (his own signing and proclaimed No.1) and Ward (a player he refused to let leave on loan) is just sheer stupidity. I don't buy the 'phasing out' that Ed001 says is happening. Klopp needs to show some b***s and ignore what the media says about bringing Karius back into the fold and just do it. No coach repeatedly plays a player he does not rate (Migs), so unless Klopp has lost his marbles completely, he should take help to solve the GK situation before we end up with 3 unhappy GKs at the club.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has announced Mignolet as his number one goalkeeper for this season. Move on.}

24 Sep 2017 13:47:11
You don't think klopp is a top manager ed02? I nearly always agree with the eds but on this I can't. Those 4 games we didn't win were not down to klopp. In each game the tactics created tonnes of chances, the players missed those chances sadly. If we weren't creating then I'd be worried. In one breath you slate the signings like klavan caulker and then say that the reason klopp has bought good players (ie mane salah I guess) is because the scouts find them for him. So it's their fault that we signed klavan caulker, right?

{Ed002's Note - I am not talking about those last four games. I am saying what I have said for years - Klopp is not the world class manager you think he is. You didn't read what I said in the post about the players.}

24 Sep 2017 14:35:39
superred what has kloop achieved larely to be considered world class? . how many trophys? how many teams he started from scratch and made them world beaters?

24 Sep 2017 18:02:08
Lol why would you worry if the players weren't creating no chances. It's just like the players at the back not stopping goals. You mean the scouts force Klopp to sign those players! A manager can say NO to any transfer!

{Ed025's Note - thats not actually true harry..

24 Sep 2017 18:47:46
not world class but has the potential to be. klopps biggest problem at liverpool was thinking he could win things with rodgers squad. Things are slowly improving as new players arrive. now we just need to replace the keeper and get a good defender or 2.

Im fine with matip, but lovren does not suit us at all. he's been mediocre since he joined. and klavan was bought with chump change who's quality actually reflects the money we paid for him. A class keeper and a class defender could make us a proper team.

we are only going to improve as migs eventually gets replaced, keita arives and a quality defender bought. We are definitely improving dispite the defence still being crap. Once we invest some serious money in defence and get some quality players for once, then we can judge klopp fairly.

{Ed025's Note - but he has had plenty of time already ryan and refused to address the keeper or defence situations mate, if your fine with matip then your not quite as savvy as your username suggests mate..

24 Sep 2017 19:13:14
Klopp does seem a bit ignorant thinking he can turn poor players into good ones but we've definitely went forward since he joined. It does seem he's learning. Im happy we are no longer playing milner at left back and other players are finally being considered. there's an obvious plan in place to enventually replace migs. A quality defender was tried in the summer, its not like he doesn't recognise the problems.

Its easy to aprreciate matip when you have players like lovren and klavan. I think matip should be tried with a quality centerback before we think about replacing him. At the very least he's a decent squad player.

24 Sep 2017 20:31:25
Wiseryan, I don't buy that whole notion of Klopp trying to win things with BR's players. That makes little sense as he has nothing to gain by focusing on BR's signings whereas he can get his own. He may try to improve some of them as they are talented by empirical evidence, he has improved several of them like Can, Lallana, Hendo, and Origi. Even Cou got better while Lovren and Moreno went from crap to decent (not a high bar but still) . The ones who could not hack it are gone or will be gone. What he needs to do now is continue to improve the squad with the right players who fit the way we play and not stop gaps as those don't work.

I do agree that Matip is decent but that is it. Partnering him with a better CB like say VVD, could be interesting cos in a CB partnership, being able to make up for each other's flaws in quality, having a good understanding of what each other's strengths and weakness and being able to compliment each other is more important. We shall see.

24 Sep 2017 23:52:03
Bingo, I remember back when klopp signed he thought the squad was good enough and told the owners he could make it work, one of the reasons klopp was chosen as manager apparently.

Obviously that's meant klopp has had to give the players time to fully assess them which meant it was always going to be a rocky time. Klopp took this challenge knowingly but really did overestimate our squad. If he were at a richer club, he would have just replaced the players not good enough by now.

24 Sep 2017 09:32:46
Harry Wilson is still scoring for fun. Hope he get a look at some point. Very well taken goals against Spurs u 23.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 09:51:43
Come our 10th game this season we will have played 4 of last seasons top 5 teams! Where as Utd will have played 1 that being us! So when people say judge us on 10 games I'll not get buried down on it! We've had tricky games and nvr did things the easy way! We are far from out of this comp!

Believable15 Unbelievable1

24 Sep 2017 10:22:17
Isn't it the top teams that we always do well against? Going by your logic, the coming games against lesser opposition will be even more difficult and more points dropped.
I'm not saying our season is doomed but we have not prepared well enough for this season. The defence is all over the place, the team lacks mettle, grit and leadership whilst carrying too many passengers playing too games too many like Migs, Klavan, Lovren, Milner etc.
The situation is not ideal but I hope Klopp can keep us afloat of a top 4 berth until Jan and the sign some decent defenders to salvage a top4 place and hopefully at least a quarterfinal appearance in the UCL.

24 Sep 2017 11:04:48
I agree buzzer I was just stating people getting carried away with Utd etc when they've not played the teems we've played!

24 Sep 2017 11:46:52
*teams.

24 Sep 2017 13:56:39
Buzzer if we carry on our good run against the top teams then we will be in a very good place this year, as we are better equipped as a team to deal with those park the bus and defend the draw teams mate.

24 Sep 2017 15:50:38
knuckles, let's wait and see if we are well equipped to beat the 'park the bus teams' on a consistent basis before making big claims like that. Its too early to say if we have dealt with last season's problems since we have only beaten Palace who were likely to be happy with a draw at Anfield. We still ended up dropping points at Watford and got trampled by City. Early days, but as a LFC fan, I can only hope Klopp knows what he is doing.

24 Sep 2017 19:08:33
The constant is the failure to deal with the lesser teams, ultimately that cost Rodgers (not the Chelsea game) and Benitez in seasons where the title was there for the taking. Last season it made 4th place a real struggle. LFC may beat the other top 6 sides but those sides tend to do a better job against the weaker teams.

24 Sep 2017 19:20:22
Yeah got you buzzer loud and clear a should of said in my opinion we are better equipped. well don't forget not just palace we also got beat of liecester away last season and have won there this season pal.

Leicester v Liverpool Match Review - A Liverpool Perspective

24 Sep 2017 07:43:36
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Leicester v Liverpool Match Review - A Liverpool Perspective

Believable8 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 07:56:23
Wijnaldum should never play away games. Half the people watching the game would not have even known the guy was on the pitch!
Completely anonymous throughout the game and offered zilch going forward, always choosing to play backwards or losing the ball right in the middle of the park. Very disappointed in Gini. Not sure if he has been instructed to play differently in away games but it is baffling how his performances vary so drastically in home and away games.
If someone's going to make way for Keita next season, its Gini.

24 Sep 2017 07:59:53
Thanks ed, who is Tris Burke btw?

Totally agree about Hendo, he rrally needs to be playing box to box to maximize his talents. Can is the same for me. But is what it is until we bring in someone more defensivley minded. But ed, is that even a possibility? I don't recall but its not felt like we've really prioritized a defensive minded midfielder in klopps time? Or I could be wrong.

Thought chilwell was alright, beat couple times but has express pace and does defend.

For us, the consensus for us watching is that we just switch off too much that leads to errors. That combined with a general lack of awareness and we are always prone to giving up silly goals. Gray had the rin of the field in the lead up to vardy's goal, and none of can, coutinho or moreno were alert to it or even alert to communicating the risk. What can klopp do to fix this besides personnel!?

So, in the meantime let's keep building and developing this team. They're not that far away!

{Ed001's Note - that would be me mate.

It is a possibility that Klopp will look to bring in a more defensively responsible midfielder, he has usually had someone sitting in front of the defence in the past. I expect someone to be targeted for the role next summer, as it is clear the midfielders we have are unable to figure out how to play in tandem.

Personnel looks to be the way to fix it, though there are things that can be done to improve communication and teamwork, the players have to the natural aptitude as well.}

24 Sep 2017 08:32:44
I sincerely hope Klopp makes some changes in the midfield esp. since Cou and Can will be gone, we may need to bring in a defensive minded midfielder as Klopp has played with one in the past.

Also regarding Wiji, I'm a huge fan and yes, he is a very good player and he was brilliant for us last season with goals and assists. However, he was dire last night. In the first 10 mins, I did not see him touch the ball once. He was anonymous for almost the whole game as it looked like we were playing a man down in midfield. Milner came on in midfield and touched the ball 92 times and played 8 key passes (not a stats guy BUT come on) then tha shows how dire Wiji was all game. Must do better.

24 Sep 2017 08:20:17
Cheers for the reply Tris!
Ye I'd be super excited for a defensive type player in midfield. My feeling is that will be as crucial as bringing in a top CB. We get so loose as a midfield so often, be nice to see some solidarity there.

{Ed001's Note - either we keep one fullback deep on attacks, like the old days, or we play someone holding in there, because the midfield just can't be trusted to sort it out between themselves, sadly. Pep tried to come up with a variation by asking the fullbacks to just move inside in front of the centre backs last season. I never saw the point in that, as it then means the centre backs are getting dragged out defensively into fullback areas while fullbacks are in the centre. Just gets messy, as he discovered.

And you are very welcome Faith.}

24 Sep 2017 08:28:34
Great response, Ed. I read your review and on Migs, you took that appraisal of his performance right out of my mouth. Ed01, can you help me as I don't know how Migs became a professional GK? I simply don't know. He makes at least, two mistakes every game that could or actually cost us goals. Yesterday, he made 3.

He dallied on the ball with Vardy flying in and got caught out. Had Okazaki chipped him, it was a sure goal. Then on the first goal, he should have been MUCH stronger coming out and should never have let Okazaki touch him. But he's a nice guy but has he never heard the saying, "Nice guys always finished last"? . Poor goalkeeping there.

It was the penalty that took the biscuit for me. Vardy was getting nowhere near the ball. Had that been Ward or Karius, they would have been bombing off their line to either pick that up or clear that into row z and clean Vardy's clock if he dared stick a foot in cos I have been on the receiving end of some of those hence, why strikers never get anywhere near balls like that cos a GK is known to be out to hurt you if you as their box is their territory.

But what does the "nice guy" do? He jogs out leisurely, gets his STUDS on the ball, the ball barely goes two feet and Vardy clatters into him and the pen is given rightly as well. Complete disaster of a GK. I don't care if he saved it or not, he is to blame. Klopp needs to act NOW cos from this day forward, any mistakes Migs makes will no longer be his fault. It will be that of Klopp for continuing to persist with a disaster of a GK.

{Ed001's Note - technically Migs should be a good, solid goalie. The problem is that he does not communicate, he is too nice to just smash people out of his way when the ball is thrown in. Shame that such a nice guy is failing because he is nice though!}

24 Sep 2017 08:54:16
What I don't understand is why the people in the media don't seem to see how terrible he is. I just read a match report where he was given a 7 and they only really commented on his penalty save. Did they not see his perfect assist for the vardy goal?!

24 Sep 2017 08:48:32
After yesterday's game I hope Leicester get relegated.
Bunch of cheating thugs.

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh that ron, they battle to make up for a lack of quality but to label them thugs is just wrong, liverpool were cruising at 2-0 yesterday but then capitulated because they lack the steel that leicester possess, maybe if liverpool had a bit more of that they would be closer to the top mate..

24 Sep 2017 09:12:06
Good review Ed - would like to see the current side play Can deep, Hendo roaming box to box role and Coutinho upfront - agree Hendo far more effective given the run of midfield while Can has the potential to be effective from deep, just needs to learn to be more disciplined.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

24 Sep 2017 09:58:35
Another cracking match report Ed 01.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

24 Sep 2017 09:40:13
Sorry 25 but that's the way I saw it. Leicester's physicality went beyond the rules yesterday. Vardy's late lunging tackles were completely out of control and could easily have broken someone's leg. Morgan was man-handling Matip, how is that allowed? 2 players man-handling Lovren at a corner. Okazaki hanging off Mignolet's arm for the first goal. Chillwell throwing an elbow at Joe Gomez who bizarrely got yellow carded for it.

It reminded me of Wimbledon circa 1988. The ref had absolutely no control of that game and looked completely out of his depth.

{Ed025's Note - leicester are a physical side ron and football purists may not like it but its about getting results mate, teams also know liverpool can be a soft touch at times which is why they struggle more against the lesser lights shall we say, maybe they just need to man up a bit..

24 Sep 2017 09:42:36
Bingo, it's posts like that that make me despair. If Migs was half as bad as you're saying then he wouldn't be playing professionally. He's a talented but flawed keeper and he's got to where he is by hard work. He's been at the club for four years and he's still first choice, he's clearly doing something right that you either can't see or are just ignoring.

24 Sep 2017 10:09:55
Surely gini gets dropped for mane. courts in the middle.

24 Sep 2017 10:25:40
Putneyred am sorry but I don't want mags anywhere near our goals again he is shocking and the team has no confidence in him it's time to change and stick to it.

24 Sep 2017 09:42:29
Totally agree about Migs ed. He made four terrible mistakes yesterday: first was when he took too long over clearing the ball and Okazaki should have scored, second was when he flapped at the ball off the corner to concede the first goal, third was the save from Gray's shot to Vardy, keepers are taught to push the ball clear not into the centre of the goal (perhaps a little harsh there), and then fourthly was his lack of bravery to concede the penalty, use your hands Simon! I just fear that the penalty save will be enough to keep him in for the next league game. Also you can clearly see that the nervousness from Migs transfers to the defenders as well and the fans.

24 Sep 2017 11:27:59
Excellent review ed01.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much mate.}

24 Sep 2017 12:17:26
They got the right result yesterday 25.

Don't usually give a monkeys about other teams but I really hope they go down.

{Ed025's Note - i thought liverpool deserved the win ron..just, but leicester won the league only 2 seasons ago and with some aplomb, i dont think they are as nasty as you think mate but your entitled to your opinion..

24 Sep 2017 13:29:16
Eds, who's your choice for holding mf?

{Ed001's Note - we should have gone for Kessie really but that ship has sailed with him joining Milan in the summer. Maybe Dendocker or Weigl would be decent enough options. Demme of RBL looked good with Keita or one of the two Leicester players, though Ndidi is not in good form, he is only young and the whole team is struggling. He is playing well enough they decided to send the other one I would consider, Mendy, out on loan. Both of those players look capable of stepping up.}

24 Sep 2017 14:01:48
With Burke as a surname there's definitely some OIrish in your family history, we're probably related 😆.

24 Sep 2017 14:02:19
To be fair, ed001, if the Milan gamble doesn't pay off this season, Kessie might be available or want to move.

{Ed002's Note - Kessie won't be moving.}

24 Sep 2017 14:29:46
Is diawara from napoli a good choice?

{Ed002's Note - Amadou Diawara won't be moviong to Liverpool Angus.}

24 Sep 2017 17:30:08
On the subject of Migs bottling it, I recall him doing the same against Hull last year. Its unforgiveable for me.
People don't chose to make mistakes but they do chose to bottle it.
On Leicester physicality, there were a lot of comments after the Mane incident about the game having changed etc I prefer to simplify it by saying I expect some consistency. Clearly there isn't a conspiracy but there is a number of refereeing performances that seem to be contradictory to the rules. We seem to be suffering from decisions that just don't seem to be given elsewhere. Are we not allowed to moan about them? Personally I'd like to see our players moaning to the ref a bit more, it might be distasteful but I do think it's effective. We are just too nice and we are not good enough to be that nice!

24 Sep 2017 20:50:54
Putney, your post is what brings me despair. If you think Migs is playing cos he's better then you are deluding yourself. Ed01 has said that Migs is being phased out gradually and I guarantee you that at some point this season, he will be benched for good and sold in the summer. If not, why do you think Ward was kept and Karius plays CL? I disagree with that approach BUT there you go.

Migs is not half a scrap as I say he is. He IS as crap as a lot of us KNOW he is. How? Cos we are seeing his errors with our very own eyes. In the last two games alone, Migs has made FIVE GK mistakes. Had we lost that game last night, who do you think would be getting the blame cos it will definitely not be the players? It will be him and Klopp for persevering with a disaster of a GK. Talented?
Nonsense. Karius and Ward are talented. Migs is NOT and will never get better.

I shudder to think how he even became a GK as he is not even capable of doing the most basic of things like kick a ball accurately. Karius made two mistakes in 10 games and got kicked out of the team cos the fans turned on him. Mig's LFC career has been littered with errors that have cost us goals and points well in the double digits BUT he is first choice. What is fair about that? Him saving the penalty is a false argument and misnomer cos HE caused it with him bottling a challenge and not wanting to get stuck in with Vardy. A true GK would have hoofed that into row z and cleaned Vardy's clock in the process. But what did Migs do? He bottled it and had he not saved that penalty, would you have posted what you posted? You're the one who is making excuses for a failure of a GK whose record in his LFC career is abysmal and why he will be sold this summer.

24 Sep 2017 07:32:47
A few thoughts from the game

- scrappy most of the time but the battling from the boys in red was superb, we were happy to get stuck in at last and do the hard stuff, particularly Hendo who was outstanding
- just goes to show you don't need to play pretty football to win a match, Coutinho was excellent in the first half, as was Salah, taking your chances is everything
- also lovely Cameo from sturridge, nice to see an early sub and plenty of time to influence the game which he did
- on the negatives Lovren started really poorly but at least started to improve towards the end but remains a constant worry
- Migs did some really good things but again a few brain farts and we nearly lost the match, still needs to be replaced IMO
- Gomez struggled too but patience is in order as he's young and did some good stuff too
- midfield looked better with Can deep but Gini was anonymous in first half, we miss Lallana

Overall really happy with the three points and something to build on - being able to battle it out in a tough away game, and rebuilding confidence at the back is everything. A win was crucial but still no mean feat away at Leicester.

Well done last lads!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

24 Sep 2017 07:44:37
Someone needs to hypnotize Wijnaldum to think every game is played at Anfield. He was crap yesterday! I would play AOC / Grujic instead of Wijnaldum in away games!

24 Sep 2017 07:54:19
Oh my days have you heard yourself?

24 Sep 2017 08:35:36
Agree with your post globally, SG and I thought Gomez was solid at RB as he is not one. As for Wiji, he was not absent for the first half. He was absent for the whole game. Btw, this is coming from a huge Wiji fan.

23 Sep 2017 23:21:05
ed025 this is not a question on refs performance but usually when a player fouls a goalkeeper. It usually goes in goalkeepers favour.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - sometimes you get them and sometimes you dont K69, but lets not think its a conspiracy against liverpool mate..

24 Sep 2017 07:06:35
We were awful but we won! All that matters right now is points and we bagged 3 points!

{Ed001's Note - awful? Not sure which game you watched mate, we were not awful, not outstanding but far from awful.}

24 Sep 2017 07:41:53
Some of our players wouldn't get into a Sunday league team let alone PL! Our attack is yet again carrying the entire team!

24 Sep 2017 07:56:47
I'll ask the question again have you heard yrself? Did you watch the right game? definitely no great but definitely not awful.

24 Sep 2017 08:39:23
Aside from the baseless and overreaction on this thread by some after an away win on a ground where we were promised abject humiliation, Ed25 is correct. Migs fouled Vardy cos he was dumb enough to handle the situation like the pub league GK he is. That's not the ref's fault. Had he done his job, cleared the ball with authority, we would not be here.

24 Sep 2017 08:43:14
We once again scored 3 goals away in the premier league against a very organised defence in Leicester. That's no mean feat Harry.
I've tried to analyse the goals we conceded too and you can pick holes in the defending for every goal of course but I don't think we defended badly. The first goal was obviously a foul but you could say the defenders need to win the header anyway. The second Gomez got done (that will happen to every player more than once in the PL) and Moreno tucked in too far giving Gray too much space. Then Migs should've tipped it over rather than out.
But then isn't that how goals are scored? You could say great turn from Albrighton, good cross and Gray peeled off the back well and great strike. Good save from Migs but good poaching instinct from Vardy.
We need to be careful of criticising ever single goal we concede because every team concedes goals it the nature of the game.
Even Harry's defensive crush Spurs conceded 2 to a very poor West Ham team yesterday and were hanging on in the end. If that had been us people on here would've been going mental!

24 Sep 2017 04:18:11
Hi guys, I was worried about today's game. Even though it's very early in the season I think today's win was crucial in the sense that we can't afford to lose/ drawmany games or we risking falling behind the top 4 and not catching them. City Utd and Chelsea on all looking solid and threaten to break away.
And our top 6 form will need to be as good as it has been to have a chance of a top 4 finish.
Frustrating to be thinking this way when we have one of the best attacking players in the league. But, as we all know our goals conceded is unacceptable. Why we didn't turn our attentions to a top keeper once we missed out on VVD still baffles me.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

24 Sep 2017 07:40:10
Coz we have 4 keepers at the bay and the club had no intention to sell anyone of them!

24 Sep 2017 20:33:52
That is simply not true, Harry. can't sell Bogdan, probably true. Not received offers or turned down, Ward, probably but to say 'no intention' is not correct.

23 Sep 2017 23:30:04
Hey ed001 I know your a busy man and spend so much time writing out the match reviews, I would like to help you out with that.
All you need to do is copy and paste this paragraph for the remaining games of this season:

"Liverpool today where brilliant going forward, however we where terrible yet again at the back, Migs! . "

Your welcome ed001, have a great night 😁.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - harsh but true.}

24 Sep 2017 06:09:27
How long is it going to take before Migs gets phased out? We have been hearing this for the past 18 months now. Why not just stick with Karius or Ward and let them make mistakes whilst learning from those mistakes? We all know Migs won't get any better so this 'phasing out' process is just a waste of time imo. Sell Migs, give the other two a chance and tell the crowd to shut their trap and not get on Karius or Ward's backs if they make a mistake.

24 Sep 2017 06:57:28
I was very impressed by Ward in the week. Came for balls that Migs wouldn't have. He needs a run in the team to gain confidence and experience at that level. I'm not a mignolet hater but I feel that Ward showed in the cup he is worthy of a go. (Although at times I wasn't sure if it was really him or Danny from McFly)

24 Sep 2017 07:41:27
Agreed Indian. Why not give karius a run in the team maybe 5 games he can't be worse than migs.

The keepers are very exposed though with no DM and a back 4 that are badly organised we could neuer in goal and still conceed goal after goal.

Don't understand why we don't pull in a defensive coach to do what klopp clearly can't get sorted. We don't have bad defenders just no organisation.

{Ed025's Note - you have bad defenders beddoe...honest..

24 Sep 2017 07:53:42
Keep Karius in the champs league and give Ward a run of league games, that way we give them both a fair shot for No1, then the best keeper at the end of the group stage is our no1 can't say fairer then that IMO.

24 Sep 2017 08:55:58
I disagree with that Ed. These defenders have shown in other teams that they are decent players. They have a lack of confidence right now and that causes hesitation which leads to mistakes. We need to play the same back 4 every week so they can gain confidence and understanding.

{Ed025's Note - i agree that less tinkering on klopps part would certainly help ings but its hard to change attitudes, matip is lazy and lovren reckless, the full backs are decent going forward but lack defensive quality which should be the main priority for all of the back line, that makes a poor defence in my book mate..

24 Sep 2017 19:13:41
To be fair Ed25 fixing the full back issues is even tougher cos 90% of top full backs these days are dire defenders who are there to basically be wing backs, and a lot of them aren't great at that part either. Defending just doesn't seem to be high on the list of things to develop in full backs these days.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree freshst, it seems like the art of defending is a dying one mate..sadly..

24 Sep 2017 00:06:00
Happy about the result, but boy we're we lucky. Sad to have a world class attack and relegation worthy defense. I hate to say it, but I just can't see us winning any trophies as long as we have klopp. We have to get 3 goals to have a chance at a draw and 4 to guarantee a win. and before anyone says 'we scored 3 today and won, thank goodness migs saved the pk and the other wasn't called. We can't rely on luck and our attack staying fit/ uninjured/ in form forever. Defenses we titles.

How were we lucky? Leicester weren't exactly laying siege to our goal, Mignolet made a great penalty save, that's what he is there for. Both teams had missed penalty calls, 3-2 was a fair result, some people may have red tinted glasses but others have the opposite and only see the bad in this team. A victory away at Leicester is a very good result and we deserved it.

24 Sep 2017 01:21:18
so if our defence kept 38 clean sheets and our attack never scored that would give us 38 points don't think we would win the title with them points. defences don't win titles alone its 50/ 50 attack win titles to.

24 Sep 2017 01:34:05
Migs touched the ball. I don't think it was a penalty. Who said we were lucky? Leicester were lucky we weren't 5 0 up in the first half. Great away win, klopp still getting slated (only 4 0 will please some people) it's laughable. We WON! . Thought Hendo was FANTASTIC! Great performance from the captain. We'll done boys! Ynwa.

24 Sep 2017 04:32:22
Migs is still a liability imo. Karius may make mistakes from time to time but its blatantly evident our defenders have way for faith in his abilities than they do with Migs. Every time there is a loose ball or cross in our box, there is hesitation and lack of confidence with the way Migs and the defenders deal with the situation.
The goals we have conceded with Karius have been individual defensive mistakes on the part of our defenders, while Migs was part of a collective bunch of errors leading to sloppy and avoidable goals.
Time for Klopp to give Karius and Ward a chance now. Migs is below LFC standard and needs shipping out.

24 Sep 2017 08:00:02
Love the optimism Suppered but it was a stonewall penalty for me.

The issue for me is we prove we can defend it is just stupid mistakes week in week out, it's like they all have at east one mistake in them and at the minute we are getting punished.

1st goal migs flapped,

2nd goal migs with paper mache hands

Penalty migs just cleans him out luckily, as shown on motd Vardy isn't the greatest penalty taker and just smashes it.

Actually there appears to be a common theme, anyone else notice it.

24 Sep 2017 08:19:53
I think what lfcphio meant was that title winning teams have solid defence - he is absolutely correct Red Steve.

24 Sep 2017 09:47:32
Superred, not a penalty? Are you for real mate?

24 Sep 2017 20:59:40
Superred, that was a stone wall pen, no question about it. Worst thing is that it could have been totally avoidable had Migs came bombing off the line and could have picked up the ball with his hands as Vardy was nowhere near it. Instead what did Migs do? He came out late, jogging leisurely towards the ball (all this time Vardy is on his bike speeding towards him) and barely gets a touch of the ball with his STUDS of all things and Vardy clatters into him and the pen is rightly given.

That is what happened and it is indicative of the disaster of a GK Migs is. He is incapable of doing the simplest of things. Had that been Ward and Karius, none of that crap happens as they are better and more talented than him BUT Klopp for some dumb reason, continues with him instead of benching him for good. Migs has committed 5 errors in the last two games alone. What else does Klopp need to know?

23 Sep 2017 23:01:17
Watched the match in the pub as usual, had a good sort of day (atleast we won) Had 5 bets Kane, Lukaku, MOrata, augero and Salah, so day paid for itself with a few quid left over, but dam watching the match among a load of fans the tension is palpable even when we are winning 2-0, so ill give you my summary of the game.

Simon Mignolet: im over him now its like watching saloms lot when you was a kid and the young brother scrapes the window and im scared all over again, he never looks comfortable, I know you can say he saved the penalty but all keepers study penalty takers and Vardy always goes to the middle so chances are if they remember what the study they save it

Joe Gomez: the sooner he plays at centerback the better it will be for him he's learning bad habits, it might be the system we play he is always trying to nip in first, he and Moreno need to learn as a defender defending comes first but he was solid enough except for the time albrighton skinned him.

Alberto Moreno: its hard when your best performing defender is Moreno, i know he might have done better for their second but so should others have

Joel Matip: Wasnt that bad today not marvellous sill looks a bit lazy but that be how he moves that big frame mad one vital block and i must say marking vardy ain't easy

Dejan Lovren: a friend best summed him up after the 15th minute he looked at me and said he thinks Lovren plays for the bookmakers, how an international can't pass a ball gets attracted to the ball like a moth to light and he's like a kid you tell not to eat sweets always makes the wrong decision

Emre Can: not an overall bad game for Emre good energy covered well enough but too many unforced mistakes its likes playing chess and thinking of what he wants to do 3 moves later

Gini Winjaldum: Really going through a bleak period looks unconfident and still slowing the game up too much

Jordan Henderson: I know ill get hell for this but i still think he snot at his best might have been best of midfielders today that's not saying much yes he scored, yes he covered plenty of ground but still going to get someone murdered with his underpassing and always closing our guy with the ball down needs to give more options.

MIDFEILD: on a sidenote, i know it looks a bit chaotic how we press but there is a method to the madness, one guy presses the player with the ball and the other pressers cover the passing lanes cutting his options of a pass down forcing the turnover, so when our midfielders are ontop of each other as they have been lately the get played around like what is happening frequently lately

Phillippe Countinho: It was a bit like the waterboy when the guy is holding his nipples when the ball is in the air you just knew he was scoring that freekick, i think he is trying hard to prove himself to everybody and is showing flashes i believe he is still a bit off full fitness he became the top scorer of goals from outside the box today with 16 goals

Mohammed Salah: I don't mind him missing sitters i just feel he will get enough chances and will score eventually, must say his header was class

Roberto Firmino: Hard working as usual unselfish work rate, its hard when your playing up against two monsters like morgan and Maguire (impressed me a bit) when your just 5'11".

SUBSTITUTES
James Milner: Id rather see Grujic get the chance but shows good energy and his experience was needed when we looked to be getting the gitters
Daniel Sturridge: showed some good flashes and worked as hard as he can done well. Only one criticism and its not his fault his lack of energy off the ball when Leicester had it made morgan and maguire look like Lothar Matthaus striding out with the ball
was there a third sub can't remember

OVERALL
I think we need go out and buy some seat belts at least until January its going to be a roller-coaster ride, we always look dangerous but we take too many chances in defence, and no matter what the experts say i don't think our defenders on the ball are as comfortable as people think, our midfield need to stop acting like they are in each other pockets, yes you need to work like a unit but you can't get played through as easy as it happening because they are on top of each other.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

24 Sep 2017 00:19:25
I remember Saloms Lot it scared the crap out of me wasn't David Sole in that? Oh and your right so does Migs but let's get over the ref rant people we won.

24 Sep 2017 02:20:23
Leicester are a team of thugs and cheats and the manager is an absolute idiot. Klopp has been getting a hard time lately which I personally think is well out of line. But Shakespeare subbed the two players who can deliver good bills into the box in mahrez and Albrighton. What a mong. I think Leicester may have nicked a point if those two had stayed on. It's all very well bringing on tall forwards Shakespeare but not for the players who supply them!

Migs gets a lot of stick and rightly so but he saved a penalty and won us the match today. He has earned a respite from abuse for a few days. Hendo has taken a lot of stick lately and I thought he was sensational. A bit unsure with z couple of clearances but overall would have been my man of the match after pipco. That is why we told Barcelona to jog on.

Amazing player, the space he makes for himself. Danny s was a great sub. Kept the Leicester back four thinking and was unlucky not ro score. Look it was a win. If every game ended like that we would win every trophy up for grabs. Thought matip was ok today, never a free kick, vardy looked for it and won.
