Just watching the Chelski game and wondering if we dodged a £30M bullet with Willian?!
I haven't seem him play well in any CFC televised games yet.
Anyone agree?

He certainly hasn't done much of note for them as of yet, no.

I got Ed003 to give us a quick rundown on Robbo's performance so far on loan at Blackpool:
{Ed 003’s Note - Quick update on Jack Robinson’s loan at the seaside from the view of a Blackpool fan, Obviously it is very early but it’s fair to say the lad has had some moments already, most disapointing for him was the red card away at Bournemouth after collecting two yellow cards which was very harsh indeed, the second ‘foul’ was ridiculous as he was trying to avoid the opposing player and the first was just a run of the mill foul which most refs wouldn’t have produced a card. He also gave away a penalty on Saturday against Leicester which again seemed harsh as Drinkwater was looking for a tackle to come in and fall to the ground at the first opportunity (yes we have simulation in the Championship aswell).
Now to the better things He follows the managers instructions to the letter, unfortunately he won’t be seen marauding down the line as this is not the style being played here anymore however he does join in but not quite beating a man and getting to the byline and crossing, more finding space to deliver and I must say his delivery has been excellent with left and right foot and the biggest surprise was his long throw in’s (assist for the winner v Barnsley). His pace and tenacity in defence has been invaluable he was given a stern test v Watford with the lively and very good Anya against him in which I felt he held his own over the 90 mins.
My summary is after joining in a difficult situation with lack of defensive numbers and no settled defensive unit at first he has done very well and the negatives I mentioned are just the usual things young players learn from and I’m sure he will, I’ll give him a 6.5/10 at the moment.
You can get the chance to watch him on Friday on Sly at 7:45pm v’s Huddersfield, don’t forget to wear Tangerine though lol.

Cheers Ed 003. }

Anyone else worried about Stevie G's current form?
Other than the odd free kick and successful Hollywood ball (which he tries too often), he hasn't looked great. His career was built on drive and passion but not sure his legs have still got it and the deeper role is just encouraging wayward passing. I just don't think he can adapt his game to become a Pirlo type midfielder. Hate seeing this happen to the man who gave us so many memorable performances but it is a worry. Do the Ed's know what the feeling is inside the club? {Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any issues with his performances, other than from himself, he is unhappy with his own form.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree mate, too many long passes which don't come off.

Agree0 Disagree0

In my opinion Stevie G hasn't been the same player since the 2012 Euro Championships. Whilst I doubt Stevie will ever openly admit it, but Roy Hodgson's ludicrous team formation (and tactics) completely burnt him and Parker out, with their ageing legs never really recovering.

Obviously Gerrard wants to go to the World Cup in Brazil so whilst that dream is still alive we (Liverpool) will suffer - he simply isn't going to retire from International Football, and in many respects I don't blame him.

Whilst I don't blame him, I honestly believe that if England qualifies for the World Cup in Brazil then Stevie 's Liverpool will be in effect over.

This season we have seen him drop further and further back often picking the ball up off the defenders deeper then Lucas, now that's fine to a degree, but one thing that has become more apparent (especially in the second halves of games) is his inability to track and pick up runners, once he has been beaten then there appears no energy or life in his legs to get back, he seems a forlorn figure.

I was exceedingly worried that this might be the case this year hence my advocation for a mobile, energetic midfielder to be brought in, however this didn't eventuate; don't get me wrong I'm not writing Stevie off completely (he is Mr. Liverpool), however R

So, Roy's formation at a tournament almost 2 years ago have ruined our captain for life?
I dislike Woy as much as the next guy, but that seems to be clutching at straws!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes now mr average who shows occasional glimpses of his past, but those glimpses are getting fewer

Agree0 Disagree0

If Frank lampard can still play the attacking road I'm sure Steven Gerrard can he is younger and it's his natural position playing deep isn't working

Agree0 Disagree0

I am hoping it is tiredness from playing an average of about two games a week since the beginning of the season.

Stevie G is clearly not capable of that anymore.

Now we will find out of BR has the knack for resting and managing aging players that SAF had, and which Italian clubs have.

Moyes has hinted he's gunna ring the changes for Tuesday. I still expect Rooney to start.
We should keep our strongest line up out, if this was a champions league game we would. I'd give sterling a go not sure why everyone is saying he's not good enough I thought he was great when he came in lady game Moses sterling Suarez sturridge I'd go for.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hahah "lady game"?

I would start Sterling yes. He had a very good pre-season and is ready for another start I think.

I would also play Sakho and Toure at CB; Toure is a good organizer and will guide Sakho through, unlike SKrtel, who is not really a leader.

I would also pair Aspas with Suarez up front and even though Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson could do with a little rest, I expect all to start.

Finally, Kelly will start, I am sure. He wasn't involved in the U-21 squad yesterday and I expect him to start, probably with Flanagan on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol it was a typo! Agreed Kelly toure sakho Enrique - Lucas gerrard - Moses Suarez sterling sturridge
(tho I'd prefer Allan out there for Stevie an I do see Hendo being dropped)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Gerrard might get rested. He has been "distracted" for a few weeks.

Just watched the Adam Morgan goal, wonderful, hope he gets a loan move in the near future to aid his progress. Good to have a positive after feeling so down at the weekend. I do have the feeling tomorrow's game could be a strange one, I can see a lot of changes for both teams and should an explosive start by both teams not result in an early goal it could settle into a bore draw. Hope I am wrong and fingers crossed for a win.

top 4 will be difficult we need tottenham/arsenal/man city to be in europe after winter, teams in europe often lose points after playing in europe midweek.
My feeling is that manu and chelsea will make top 4 because at home both hardly lose points.
Time will tell if alberto and illori will be starters for us but we spend 14mil on them when we needed starters.
aspas is 26 years old and does not have the qualities for a top team like us.( another 7 mil)
If we play gerrard week in week out he will last another season maybe 1 more, we should have got a player like ( eriksen) so we could have rested gerrard when needed and get the best out of him for at least 3 more years.
Borini had his ups and downs but I watch italian football he is a pure goalscorer in the box and has pace and only 21 injuries and confedance is his problem.
we should have spend aspas money on someone else and kept borini.
Sterling and ibe are both young and need time, and I believe ibe will have a better future than sterling because ibe has a better ball control and is stronger.
i do not want to complain but our strongest team will be last seasons team with moses on downing position.
Cl football is not only important for financial reasons it will help keeping our best players.
next season will proberly mean suarez leaving and coutinho won't hang around much longer and we will need to start all over again unless we get top 4.
arsenal made it last season and bought ozil, tottenham bought some really good players.the other 3 are stronger than us in the long run.
on the day we can beat anyone but I am afraid we will come short again.
we are just a 2/3 class players short, and we have had that problem for the last 25 years.

A very mangled post, sorry.

Ilori will be an excellent player. He is among the new breed of central defenders, pacey, agile and comfortable on the ball. He might not be a powerhouse yet, but with intelligence, anticipation and reading of the game coupled with his excellent athletic physical attributes, I am sure he will prove to be an outstanding player.

Alberto, I am less sure of. But, he is young and only starting out his senior career. If we are patient with him, and also if he remains patient with us, he should have a good chance of turning out to be a good player.

Got a feeling Ilori will start tomorrow

amazing goal by morgan.
can any one see him as a future of lfc.
along with him who are the other academy players who could make it to the lfc 1st team in a couple of years?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He has no chance for one

Agree0 Disagree0

He probably needs a loan.

There are many at the U-18's level and and some at the U-21 level who are doing well at their respective levels. It's how they make the step up that is important.

U-18's: Chirivella, Canos, Ojo, Kent, Wilson and O'Hanlon

U-21's: Rossiter, Paez, Jones, McLaughlin, Pelosi and perhaps Dunn

are the ones that come to my mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can borrow Morgan a fiver as long as I get it back

Did everyone see Morgans goal for the u21's? Great goal from just inside the city half. Not sure if I'm allowed to post youtube links, apologies if I'm not but it's worth a watch:

We won 2-0 probably not the best performance but a great result, I'd say Ryan McLaughlin looks ready for the first team squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought it was an excellent performance with a very very young team.

Hi guys, here in peace

Just curious as to Liverpool fans views on suarez now, based on the start you've had this season, would you have been ultimately happy had you sold suarez this summer and got the money? Or do you feel he will still be needed in the long run?

Also can you see him coming in and taking the team even further, or do you think you will suffer with villa's problem of trying far too hard to play through one player?

Like I said when benteke limped off for us on saturday, it could actually be a blessing in disguise as it has forced the entire team to play, and both teams are good enough to win without their star striker.

P.s. Keep up the clean sheets mignolet is in my dream team! (Until we visit that is)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally I would have preferred to have sold him in the summer and brought in a few other targets instead who actually wanted to play for Liverpool (e.g. Turan). Not only would it have been nice to have players who actually want to play for Liverpool but we could have used a few extra attacking options over the last 6 games rather than one who has been sat in the stands.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally would want him to have been sold abroad earlier in the summer for £40-50m so we could have reinvested in 2-3 high quality players and had an overall stronger squad and starting XI (think we are a bit light on wings and midfield when we get injuries).
Didn't happen but coming back think he will make the team better, simply because he is are best player and can produce a bit of magic. Think the team may suffer a bit at first but when we get all our players back (in particular coutinho & johnson) and sturridge fully fit think they will play as a team much better than how we are playing ATM. Sturridge & Coutinho linked up well with Suarez at the end of last season and aspas did pre-season with the added width from having johnson and enrique push up will show people the actual quality of our side. With added directness from Moses and options of a more direct wingers (ibe and sterling) a midfield to control possession (allen) or strengthen our midfield (henderson) and with a stronger defence than can dominate the aerial battle (sakho & toure).
Just think mignolet, johnson, toure, agger, enrique, lucas, gerrard, coutinho, saurez, moses (or aspas), sturridge would be a great XI with options for different teams or to come off from the bench and change the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate, I would not of minded either way, if we sold him it would be nice to think the monkey would of been spent wisely and a couple of class players bought.
But.
Now he has stayed with us, I hope he plays his socks off, probably to impress future suitors, I'm not to worried if that is the case. As long as Louis plays his heart out for the team, as he did last season, I will be happy.
If then at the end of the season he feels he needs to move on? So be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have preferred if he had gone and we re-invested the money on others.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im hoping he will be sold in Jan for 50m+ and the money reinvested in a DM and a more clinical striker with a better attitude

Agree0 Disagree0

It would have been very difficult to purchase any player(s) half as good as Suarez with the ridiculous prices being quoted.

I for one am happy Suarez stayed. I lost a lot of respect for him after his outbursts but you can't deny his talent.

Can't wait for the game tonight and hope he hits the ground running

Saw sahko and ibe in the bedroom club in Manchester last night (couldn't get past the body guards for a pic) can't really see them going out until 4 in the morning on a Monday then playing on a Wednesday. Nothing special I know but I thought i'd pass it on.
Redgrant.
