Any stadium news?

All those who have supported Carroll take a bow. All those who have knocked the new signings hang your head in shame. Starting to gel. And I'm sure others will be worried. Stoke stole it against us then got robbed by only drawing with man u. While all our players put a shift in.

We beat Wolves at home 2-1. I wouldn't get carried away yet.

Negative as always, Ash

For the Everton game next week who would you put Coates or Skrtel. Agree for Coates Disagree for Skrtel. Me personally i think we should put Coates.

Ghandi Floss

If Glen is fit, i would like to see Kelly play CB. I think he's played enough games to merit a place, playing in his natural position.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Yeh definitely

Ghandi Floss

That would be fine but who would you play at right/back if johnson isnt fit?

If Glen isn't fit, maybe play young Flanno at RB?

Hi im going to answere my own question ,why cant we have both(godin)

24 Sep 2011 22:32:52
Hi eds guys/gals here is the question,would you like our team to play beautiful football just like arsenal did for what 6years and not win anything,or would you like us to play not so great (like today) and end up in the top four and maybe win a cup,Im afraid we all know that answere.(godin) {Ed001's Note - I would rather we played good football and won, like we did in the late 80s under Dalglish.}

Sensible answer, ED. I want no compromise. I want both. Great football and winning. Other teams are doing it so why can't LFC?

BooDaBooze

Hi Ed1 I agree as you can see from my post above,but that was not the question. {Ed001's Note - my point was that your question was pointless, I want both, it is not a mutually exclusive thing. You can play well and win things, otherwise Stoke would be European champions.}

Took my little lad whose just turned 5 to the game today. He had a great time but I was a nervous wreck.

I could not believe that the mighty reds were allowing a bottom of the table side to dominate possession and sitting deep inviting pressure.

From where I was sat I could not see what contribution Henderson made from the right. All our good stuff came down the left and their main threat was down our right. We need to play someone whose offensive instinct will occupy or nullify the opposition on that side. Stop being so stubborn Kenny. You know Hendo is not a right winger. Kuyt has played their effectively and so can Bellamy.

Come midday next Saturday I will be anxiously awaiting Kenny's team selection- let's hope it's the right one.

Wow, tough crowd on today's performance !!

End of the day, 3 points is all that matters, and to be totally honest, compare RESULTS, against last year and there is a noticable improvement, so come on, cheer up, enjoy the win and take it as a good shot in the arm for the next game.

PS, previously I noticed that when we used to go through a bad patch, it used to last all month, however this only lasted 2 weeks, so again, I'm looking at this as a positive

I'm going to ruffle a few feathers but Man Of The Match today was Lucas - outstanding performance playing in a position of little glory.

Carroll is also improving - his 'off the ball' play is starting to show. He only had to move today and the Wolves defenders went with him. He's also looking sharper/

Sometime in the next few weeks someone is going to get a real good hiding.

My perfect signings in January would be Eden Hazard and Simon Kjaer.

Suarez Carroll

Downing Lucas Gerrard Hazard

Enrique Agger Kjaer Kelly

Reina

Kjaer? No thank you!

maka

Kjaer has failed to produce fine form after his great stint at Palermo. He doesn't seem to be a very good option. I would rather have Ezequiel Munoz(Palermo) than him. But I don't think, we need a new cb. We already have plenty there. YNWA

Simon Kjaer? You must be joking. Besides, he just moved to Roma in summer.

Hi ed i was at the match today and was thinking we r in need of a new stadium, i love anfield but its to small we could have sold another 45 000 tickets today, do u think there will be any news coming up about it? {Ed002's Note - At some point reasonably soon it is expected that there will be some news.}

I'm trying to find out why the new stadium hasn't already been announced. 100% gunna happen.

I cant believe my eyes when i read half the comments here ,our heroes came out today and made a big improvment on last week and got a result i for one am very proud , i think Kenny is doing a great job managing Suarez preventing him from burnout but keeping him hungry enough for the next match

Absolutely. Good win, we fought for it and deserved the three points.

That is if Suarez does not burn himself out with his childish tantrums, first.

Again the only reason we didn't win convincingly today, is we didn't take our chances. Roy you were right to be a bit worried mate, this seems to be happening too much in the last few games (except Spurs). 3 points is 3 points, you don't get anything by playing lovely football but not sticking the ball in the net (which happened against Stoke). We had to stop the rot of losing PL games, no matter how we played. Todays game was a big game for us, just imagine if we lost this game? The anti-LFC media and some "fans" would have had a field day, if we got beat today. But we didn't, we won, we got 3 points.

The Suarez thing dosn't bother me whatsoever. But i can see both sides of the arguement. He wants to play every game so when subbed, of course he's going to be upset, but he still overreacted IMO. But should Kenny have taken him off? I wouldn't have. Not when there's 10 mins left and we are only 1 goal ahead and Wolves were putting on a bit of pressure on us. I would have taken Charlie off, put Stevie in alongside Lucas, then we would have had the best of both worlds.

I would love to see young Jordan in the centre, alongside Lucas when Stevie isn't there. We are getting over run big time in midfield when Charlie is playing in the 4-4-2. And i think that Jordan could do a better job than Charlie, and maybe Jordan could show more of his great ability, that we all know he has.

Thought Andy Carroll had a good game today. His fitness is getting better, game by game. Just in time for the Toffee and Manc games, it could be a good October for us.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Speak to you soon, i'm off to the Manc site.

"And i think that Jordan could do a better job than Charlie"

You or I could do a better job than Charlie, Mr Mayne.

Matthew...

Pray tell me all about hendersons ability, and who are these we all your talking about who Know of it.redman1

I could Matthew, no way you could mate. It could be worse i suppose, we could have Anderson (f*ck me he's crap).

Blair Mayne YNWA

The ability he showed for Sunderland redman1 mate. He was fantastic for them last year, and is rated very highly. Just be patient mate, give the kid a chance.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Actually he was great for half the season and then his form dipped badly and he doesnt seem to be able to get it back lets hope its just a matter of time

24 Sep 2011 20:19:50
Fair enough we didn't play great today but whats point of dominating a game like we did at Stoke and losing. Isn't it the sign of a good team that you still win when your not playing great. I bet Utd fans wasn't moaning as much when they scraped in a lot closer game i might add when they beat West Brom. We seen glimpes of the real Andy Carroll who was massive at both ends of the pitch. Lets stop moaning and be happy we beat a team that did us hear last year. Jonson6

Pleased with the result today but if we don't sort the centre of defence out? Teams better than Wolves will make us pay again (Spurs)
It doesn't matter who plays in the Midfield there always going to struggle through the latter stages of games because of the work there having to put in.
The defence marshalled by Carra is sitting too Deep.
They should be pushed up to condense the play so when we lose possession the midfielders can cover more economically and effectively to retrieve possession.
Remember the days at Anfield when the opposition couldn't get out of there own half because we had defenders quick and bright enough to to condense the play. Major problem with Carra and Skyrtle there not good enough and too slow and it's impacting on the rest of the team.
kidmillions

Couldn't agree more. i sit in line with the 18-yd box in the paddock and got a great view of the second-half defensive frustrations including pepe losing it big-time with carragher!
matt jarvis was a handful and exploited the weakness at right-back. skirtel is brainless and continues to give needless free-kicks away just outside the box.
flannagan at right-back with kelly at centre-back instead of skirtel or just coates instead of skirtel would've been better. can't see the reasoning behind taking suarez off ....especially as it pisses him off so much. personally, id've swapped carroll for kuuyt, henderson for gerrard and given coates a run-out for skirtel. but i'm not kenny and my opinion counts for nothing.
we won today but it was too close to be truly enjoyable. okay, we could have won 5-1 but equally could've lost 3-2 !
assuming everyone came through today unscathed, my eleven versus the blue-noses would have to be;

........................reina..........................
flannagan......carragher..kelly.......enrique........................lucas..............................kuuyt......gerrard......adam.....downing
........................suarez........................
subs; doni,robinson,coates,henderson,spearing,
bellamy,carroll.
(i'm assuming agger, aurelio and johnson won't be available)

Was not imprssed with our midfield defensively or our centre back pairing. Skrtel was poor, Adam was poor as was Hendrson. To be honest not one of Downings best either. I was pleased with Carroll effort and link up play, much better from him.

I watched the Everton game earlier and if we play the team that started today at Everton, we will lose. Reality is Adam is not up to bossing a Derby midfield, just to slow and not physical enough. Gerrard needs to start and to be honest I would use Bellamy and Suarez to pull the around.

Totally agree i thought we were poor today midfield was awful?

Yes, but then why did your manager play Rodwell in midfield and sell all his strikers without buying new one's? ;-)

24 Sep 2011 19:52:39
suarez wants to play , thats all , he does not like being subbed as he feels he can score a goal at any time, and to be honset i argee with him , but kk has to do what he feels is right and us fans just worry , we know suarez has that edge about him , but its a team game as well , just hope the team improve more and stevie gets a good 45 mins at least next match . a good 3 points today against a hard working side........lfc

"Suarez just wants to play."
This is just rubbish excuse for rotten and unprofessional attitude. If all players act this way, there will be chaos in football.
I can't even believe why fans are making up excuses for such an unprofessional behavior. It is beyond belief.

24 Sep 2011 19:15:57
Hey guys,love the site !
Just wanted to clear up why suarez cast an upset figure when on bench today...I believe it was because he is determined to score and is passionately competitive...your thoughts??
Cheers
J lfc7

You guys should just quit trying to make ridiculous excuses for the unprofessional behaviors of Suarez in front of the public.

Don't be surprised that what he is doing is a deliberate ploy to send signals to either Barca or Real Madrid to come and get him because he is not happy at LFC.

BooDaBooze

Don't really care his reason mate as long as he doesn't do it again or I would drop him for a few games then sell him if his attitude doesn't change. He is supposed to be a role model for youngsters and acting like Balotelli is pathetic. He actually had no excuse, scored a great goal, had a good game, his team won BUT another f#cking sulker. Did they not allow substitutions in the Dutch league?

Big up for Andy today! Great all round game.

How can you treat Suarez as a f#cking sulker. This guy is playing with his heart, he is giving 110% in all games. He loves to score goals and wants to score more for his club but Mr Dalglish is slowly killing his confidence by substituting him.

24 Sep 2011 19:37:57
lads, i was glad of the 3 points today but was very dissapointed with the performane, couldnt believe how much possession wolves had at ANFIELD, our overall tempo seemed to be slow, not the one touch quick passing I thought kenny would bring back. when the opposition has the ball we seem to be standing off rather than snapping at their heels to get the ball back, Adam & Lucas seem to be exposed in the middle of the park as i think Adam is a bit slow to cover the ground, maybe needs to play in a 3 man midfield to be more effective. Bello should have started on the right with hendo in the middle, hendo will come good still very young and hes playing out of position which cant be good for his confidence. Wolves were there for the taking, game would of been wrapped up at half time if the right team was picked. Love king Kenny and wanted him back after Roy Evans left but im not sure about some of his decisions and team sheets lately. Hope it comes together though.

Love your post right on except for henderson, nice to read someone who makes sence.red man 1

Doesn't matter who's playing in the midfield;
if your defence is sitting too deep your conceding the initiative to the opposition and giving your midfielders a harder job to retrieve possession.
We should be more compact and when we move the ball out of defence they should be pushing up and condensing the play.
But it ain't going to happen with Carra and Skyrtle.

I wish folks like you would quit trying to do Kenny's job for him. He is the manager, not you.

I'm not going to laugh at the mancs...nah! I will! Haha!

Told you the mancs had it easy so far...first credible away team and they look all over the place...their next away game is against us; best chance to sock it to them!

SingRed

One of us lost to stoke and one got a draw. maybe you should wait until next week before anyone is laughing.

And the team that lost played slot better than the team that drew... just sayin

24 Sep 2011 19:27:43
Hi everybody, I think I am not the only one who feels gutted with our performance today. The win will not erase the poor performance of our players today. What the hell with King Kenny for continue playing Hendo and big Andy and leaving Kuyt and Gerard on the bench. Mr Dalglish is so stubborn with his choice and I really feels that with this team we will not beat the blues and the Mancs in the forthcoming games.

Mauritian LFC fan {Ed001's Note - how can he start a half-fit Gerrard? That would be idiocy of the highest degree. He needs to be eased back in, not thrown in.}

Do you think Kenny doesn't really rate Kuyt Ed? Surely he would not just play Hendo ahead of Kuyt because he is his own buy. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have a squad - players will play when tactically the most appropriate time is.}

The editor is correct. I really wish some of these arm-chair managers would give it a rest. As for Andy Carroll, having attended today's match, I can assure those who do not have the good fortune to possess a season ticket that the big chap played rather well today, justifying Kenny's faith.

Red Owl

Yeah. Kenny should quit being "stubborn" and listen to little geniuses like you whenever he wants to make a team selection. Yeah, right.

BooDaBooze

Kenny is very stubborn all the players that played with and for him will tell you how single minded he is.. But this what makes him a good manager.

After reading all the post today I can make out that we were not 100% but great thing was we won.
It is so important that we win those matches even if we don't play well because we can't play barcelona like every match.

Win every game performances will follow with confidence rise from wins.

But that defence need work and should be more tight.

Red indian
Ps-good night all.

Bud, even Barcelona don't play like 'Barcelona' every match if you have been watching them lately.

Barca only have 8 points from 4 games and are in 5th... guess they all calling Messi a flop and starting to question Guardiola as well like our fans... ;-)

24 Sep 2011 18:56:32
A couple of thoughts about today's game.
We again missed a hatful of great chances which would have made the game far more comfortable. The period just after they scored when Suarez, Carroll then Downing all failed to convert was particularly galling. I have a feeling though that if we start to take our chances we can put 4 or 5 past teams on days like this. It's an old cliche, but it's true that the problems start when we stop creating the chances, not when we fail to take them.

Secondly, our midfield looked really light at times today. I don't know if it's because Lucas didn't have a great game, but we struggled to win the midfield battle on many occasions, particularly in the 2nd half. We shared possession when we should have dominated it, and for a while it seemed that Wolves were first to every second ball. The solution to this problem could be putting an extra man in the centre of midfield (Lucas, Adam, Gerrard) and bringing Gerrard on did solve it. But when we need to play 2 in midfield, we need the wide players to be getting more involved in the centre and we need a defender to step up and make that extra man in midfield; without Agger, we have no one who does this.

Thirdly, and on a much better note, Carroll was superb. Linked the play well, created chances throughout. Deserved a goal and should have got one, but apart from hitting the post he barely put a foot wrong for me. Brilliant

Red Ollie

Very well summed up mate.

This above clearly shows how some fans need to supprt LFC and get their heads out of kennys behind.

If suarez was so tired then why play him against a championship side brighton in carling cup when that was the best time to give him rest.
Someone also said a brilliant thing kenny was protecting lead that's why he took of suarez let me ask you when rafa used to do this then he was called negative now kenny doing this is a a tactical genious eh.
If someone offers 4th now we should bite his hand and take it because if we continue leaking goals and our top player and goal scorer remains unhappy I wonder how long and difficult this season will be.
For me at this movement in time kenny is a liverpool manger who needs to deliver results like any other manger.if we want to get ahead of united again we must be ruthless and look forward rather then admiring past.

Its scares me that after so many signing its once again our 31 years old captain is once again the man that fans and manager is looking up to for reviving LFC.
I know I will be called many names after this post even a manc but for me LFC is more important then kenny.

Red till dead.

Red indian
{Ed001's Note - it is widely known that the fitness coaches have advised that Suarez is taken off towards the end of a match.}

How can you write a post about keeping Suarez happy and then sign off Red till dead? Do you support Suarez or Liverpool? No one is bigger than the club - if we need to take off our most creative player to protect a player than so be it.

JRG

Obviously not that well known to Mr Suarez though Ed.

His behaviour when subbed was pathetic and really annoyed me. He scored a goal and played well. Clap your f#cking hands, jog off, wave and take a seat lad. Your team won so smile. Does he play for the team or himself?

And is it just me Ed or does Reina seem to be a little disinterested of late?

Fensh {Ed002's Note - I think it is just you.}

That's true Ed, but if he's tired, he's tired and needs as many minutes as possible off the pitch until he recovers. There will come a time when we are chasing a game and taking him off won't be an option. Then what? Brighton was a perfect time to rest up if he is not fully fit.

Ash

It just looks like Luis is frustrated. We all know he wants to play every minute of every game, but it could come back to bite him in the ass, come March, April. There is a genuine fear of burnout from our medical team, but still we need to play him. I think this debate could continue, untill Luis pulls up with a hamstring, or tiredness kicks in. Only our medical team, management team and Luis know how fit he is. So me thinks we should let them decide what's right for him.

The midfield looked better when Gerrard came in. He looked sharp and made some good runs

SingRed

Don't be ridiculous, he was on for ten minutes and touched the ball about three times

Lucas & Adam are too slow to make fwd runs and keep up with play. Henderson can, but runs the wrong way. Feel for the lad, he looks so unsure and nervous.

But to his credit, he does have a set of lungs like Kuyt and keeps trying.

I agree after being off for what 6months i was just happy he could run,he looks as if hes going to be fine, fingers crossed (godin)

24 Sep 2011 18:14:14
I did not see the game but it looks like again he was not happy being taken off.
My question is what our great man manager kenny is doing.
Suarez is 1 world class creative player who would walk into any club side in world and it looks like there is clear lack of communication between player and manager.
next may be kenny and DC sell him to chelsea too and will buy a hardworking 25m british player.
We have been considing goals since preseason and when me and others were told we are poor then we were branded as mancs and told its only preseason now in last 8 compititeve matches we have kept 1 clean sheet.
We have lost 18 matches of 21 in which we have been behind.
Its not about kenny so please don't make it about him what matters is LFC.
Nothing else.
And kenny like any other manger will be judged at the end of season.
For those who dream with open eyes with this leaky defence and spurs, arsenal fighting for 4th it will be a hard fight for champions league which should be bare minimum for kenny with the way he has spend the money and amount of it.

On other topic good to see flashes of old nando returning the runs are a hint.poor red card though.
Remember class is permanent form is temperory.
Red till dead.
Red indian

How is it good to see Torres returning to form. I would of been quite happy to never see him score another goal for chelsea

'I did not see the game' Red indian if you've seened the game, you'd know that we were fast tiring and overrun in midfield. Bringing Stevie on made a difference; there was more ball retention and looked sharp, as was Carroll.

Don't forget Luis played almost 80mins midweek. Carroll was definitely fresher. BTW the gaffer makes the call; if the player being subbed is not happy, the player is wrong. We don't need another Balotelli. He didn't even applaude the support or shake hands with his team mates. That's very negative. This is a team game, not a Luis show. He can learn a thing or two from Kuyt, who never sulks when he's subbed or is a sub

SingRed

How can you comment if you didn't see the match? they're too many clowns on this site making idle comments when they haven't a clue!

No its just a case of the player didnt want to be taken off an thats a good thing

red fanatic

Red Indian: if you love Torres so much please go support Chelsea.

Suarez needs a head slap to check his ego. Kenny was spot on and to be honest Carroll contributes more defensively than Suarez and Suarez needs to go work on his finishing which isn't good enough imo. Carroll was MOTM for me today.

A couple of points

Raise your hat to Thomas Healy aged 6 who made his first pilgrimage to Anfield today. Hope the boat home tonight leaves pier head on time and isn't gale force 8. Good work Paul on the next generation of Reds.

Also it appears the FA had the balls on the radiator again for the Carling Cup Draw.

Aldershot - pull out the warm ball and keep old Whisky Nose happy (You can guarantee it will be live on BBC because they are friends again).

Good result today, and stop being negative towards players and the team.

Amazing how one man being brought off has completley overshadowed 3 points. And the great Steven Gerrard making his first Anfield and Prem outing in 6 months. No offence to Ajax and the great things they've achieved in Europe and at home as well. But this is Liverpool and no one not even Luis Suarez is bigger then us. Jonson6

24 Sep 2011 17:47:06
A shaky second half again, but they'll work on that I'm sure.

And remember- after 6 games last year we were on 6 points and in 16th place, prior to going down to 18th place in October.

10 points from a possible 18 isn't title-winning form, but its better than 6 points from 18, and we're still only 3 points behind Chelsea- well in touch.

Couple of tough games coming up, we're really going to have to fight to get wins out of them, so get behind the lads.

24 Sep 2011 17:43:13
Suarez looked absolutely knackered, he was always going to be the one coming off.

Good game by the team, allowing that goal was poor though and we need to keep the foot on the gas! That said, Suarez needs to work on his fitness.

24 Sep 2011 17:41:15
What are the odds on Utd getting a penalty, a goal from an offside position and Stoke get denied a blatant penalty and have a goal wrongly disallowed? Evens?

I'll say 1/3

Definately worth a punt or 300.

24 Sep 2011 17:40:05
Too many miss can cost you a point. Lucky wolvs not score the 2nd one. we just change 2 player why? Bellamy can have few minutes. U have to test your player always to keep fresh team in the field.

24 Sep 2011 17:31:43
glad to get the three points but must say we should improve our finishing. we created many great chances today but scored only 2. Carroll was quite encouraging, today. He could have had 2 of his own. Hope, he'll get better and will hammer those chances(last min). YNWA

24 Sep 2011 17:31:25
as i said after the brighton game our back four are playing too deep, which makes it hard for the midfield to control the game.we need to hold a higher line,to condense the play and control the game more,enrique had a steady game, and i was pleased at suarez's reaction to being subbed it shows his commitment to the cause,on a plus note its 3 points and we can only get better {Ed001's Note - we can't play a higher line without faster centre halves.}

Agreed, thats why,it makes it very nerve jangling watching

I really think we need a new centre-back, who was real pace and is comfortable on the ball. Agger is perfect for this and our defence looks about 10 times better with him in the ranks, but there's no one else and unfortunately Agger appears to be made of glass. I really think we should try to sign Cahill in January; fast, dominant in the air and assured in possession

Red Ollie

Skrtel is just a quick as Agger (yes not as skillful but not a lot are) and had a decent game today imo. Carra is the problem, we all know it.

Five points more than the equivalent games last season when we just fell short of fourth place. That counts as progress; the best is still yet to come.

24 Sep 2011 17:30:26
something has happened to suarez over the summer. either the club, the fans, his agent or he himself has got it into his head that he is the biggest thing in liverpool. no one is bigger than the club and if he doesnt realise this then i can see him growing more and more frustrated until he demands a move.

I'll have to agree with the OP. I am not liking what i am seeing in this Suarez's attitude. His wings need to be clipped right now before they get out of hand. Acting so petulant in public glare is putting the club and the squad in bad light.

BooDaBooze

Understable that it could be interpreted as such but more likely that he feels he's on a roll and wants to maximise his time on the pitch. A little selfish but a common trait in many great strikers. I'm sure Kenny will see his strop as a positive and use it to our advantage. L19red

24 Sep 2011 17:29:44
Happy with the result today but felt we sat to deep and allowed wolves to much of the ball, teams like these should not be able to get the ball off us. Andy Carroll's best game by far, Henderson looks lost on the right and think kuyt needs to start. Everything good we do comes from the left. Charlie Adam doesn't do enough in the middle for me and is a player who needs time on the ball, doesn't get stuck in enough, gerrards back soon tho.
The defence needs improving as I think we would struggle against top strikers but hopefully we can improve.
Still we made plenty of chances and probably should have scored 4, 3 pts the main thing tho

I think the solution isn't starting Kuyt on the right, but narrowing the midfield, pushing Suarez wider and pushing the full-backs forward. Suarez can then create chances from the right and be in a position to finish off moves from the left, where, as you say, most of our chances come:

Gerrard--Lucas--Adam
Suarez--Carroll--Downing

That is also my best front 6.

Well done today Liverpool, we must start taking our chances though and killing off opposition, we seem to keep playing well for 45mins and then taking the foot off the gas.

6 games played and only 8 goals to show for it and 8 goals conceded says it all, Suarez has been superb in all the matches yet he keeps being substituted.

Carroll and the rest of the team need to start contributing with some goals. Henderson needs to be benched and kuyt should take his place for me, I would also rotate Carroll with Bellamy instead of Suarez.

Curled1

Bellamy for hendo, unless hendo improves himself. And hope to see all 3 subs being made. lolz :)
Hope, Kenny can work with suarez's sub problem. He never likes to be subbed. I must say, I too don't like him being subbed. lolz :)

Fair play to all the lads today
Thought AC had his best game as a 'team' player
He covered some ground and you can see that hes trying his hardest. Perhaps not the typical striker role but well played lad. Bit by bit boys...
Biggest concern.. ' Fans'-again nearly silent for most of second half ! We are all quick to have a view on the team but we need to have a look at ourselves .
Thought we could have done more for the team today.

We're better away to be honest ... a different take on it this week then :
Verdict LFC .Good effort room for improvement
Fans. Could do better and more consistently

What rubbish fans cheer and get excited at what they see, give us something to shout about ,henderson should not start we are not good enough carry him, redman 1

It goes both ways!

There's only one Andy Carroll
One Andy Carroll
There's only one Andy Carroll

Hi eds we all know suarez hates to be pulled off ,would have been nice for him and gerrard to get a few minutes of game time together and see our main men leave happy.(godin) {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I have no sympathy with Suarez, there was absolutely no need to react like that.}

Suarez matter is Realy going wrost. he even leave the pitch same time the match finish. he looks unhappy some one go and talk to him and make him understand the reson of taking him off.

Ed I agree with you but we knew his temperament before he signed,and he is not going to change maybe we should bend a little,I know the stock answere,but there are exceptions to every rule,and this might just be one,until we are less fragile. {Ed001's Note - no, if he doesn't want to be part of a team we will find someone that does. No one player is bigger than the club and never will be.}

I think it's really weird that Suarez doesn't like being subbed, because some players love it. For instance, I have it on good authority that Ashley Cole loves being pulled off by his manager after a long hard workout

Red Ollie

Ed you just gave me the stock answere.

What was Carroll thinking at the end. Just have a smack and finish it off why try some stupid tricks.

Having said that, we looked good up to about 65 minutes we looked tired by then. Henderson was still missing but at least was involved more. Carroll tried too, another positive to be taken away. Now please try harder. Only then will you fulfil your potential to become legends.

Thought the defence did well. Special mention to Enrique, whom was fantastic. Skrtel looked assured back in his usual CB position. Carra slow as ever, this game doesn't change my opinion that he should be dropped. Kelly looked the quality he should be, mature and calm as ever. Showed signs of rustiness given how he had picked up his yellow card but I guess it can be forgiven given he had just come back from injury.

Gerrard looked really hungry and sharp, the good old Stevie G we all know. Adam and Lucas did their respective jobs well, and Downing linked up well with Suarez. Henderson improved a lot, but more can be expected from a player of his ability

Suarez played well, good goal and played really well with his movement, looked angry when he went off, and I'm not surprised given his desire and ability. Perhaps Kenny thought he needed a rest. My comments on Carroll are the same as my comments on Henderson.

On a side note, we look fantastic on the counter attack.

Keith YNWA

Carroll played well today. Can't understand why he didn't went with the shot in the last minute. Could have been a goal or atleast could have troubled goal keeper. Suarez reacted a bit too much, though. Hope, there's nothing more than that, in to it. Hope, we'll improve more in the coming weeks. YNWA

Carrol dont find a space to kick it. and He like to score one thats why try too much. but this is 1st time Carroll play like £35m player. Suarez is unhappy hope Kenny have few word with him

How the hell could Henderson be missing but involved more?

24 Sep 2011 17:10:09
I dont care what anybody says, Henderson is not worth 16m. People keep saying give him time he will be good in a few years, we could have had bought quality player who plays in the same position who would be a worthy first team NOW not in a few years, only that he dosnt posses the one trait which is important to kenny, being British/having prem experience. All these foreigners who people say will take time to adapt, dont seem to be showing that at man city at the moment their tearing up this league, we need to bring in some extra flair as we only have suarez atm. Anyway regarding hendo, a poor bit of business in my opinion but i guess he's here now so we'll have to be patient.

Harry LFC-4-ever

I dont want to burst your bubble but comparing us to city is rudiculous 1. as they pay crazy wages so of course they are gonna get money grabbing players 2. they are currently in the champions league and as much as i hate to say it can attract a better class of player. I agree patience is needed with henderson but support is aswell.
StudentRed

I want comparing us to city or saying pay £200,00 wages, their are plenty of players with flair and quality at poorer club who would be available for a good price. Its just we havnt got any because we seem to be affraid to go abroad with the fear that they will 'flop', i was using city's foreigners as an example of how good those "lightweight" can be in the premier league.

24 Sep 2011 17:09:34
Kun got also got subbed today. Did you see him goin off it like that. And your telling me Kun doesn't care. We all love Suarez. As much as he want to play the guy has not had a break. If he gets injured, it'll why be does K.K keep playing Suarez when he clearly needed a rest. I'm sure that it wont be long before he's completing 90 every game but their must a a reason other to do then football why he's got the hook early, i dont know, maybe the sports science people are tellin k.k if poss 70 to 80 mins. We've got an international break soon. Dont know if Uraguay have a game lined up. I hope not. Maybe then Suarez will be given 90 every week because. Shrek's out of Utd's game with a hampstring i dont care, he'll break down if he just plays and plays and plays which until he has some kind of rest he will do unless looked after correctly which with who our next 2 games are against. Jonson6

24 Sep 2011 17:08:24
People complaining about Suarez being substituted! You have got to be kidding me. When a manager is trying to defend a tight lead the flair player is always the one to come off as they are more likely to lose possession.
Also are you saying KK should ask him before subbing him in case he doesn't want to come off! No one is bigger than the club.
Most people on here Wednesday were saying why is Suarez starting he must be knackered and needs a rest - KK subs him this match and everyone is up in arms!

JRG

Agreed. Suarez reacted a bit too much. Hope, there's nothing more, in this.

Suarez is a emotional player. u have to deal with it, He want to be a part off the game thats good sign but he must accept that Gerrad will do a bit extra help in Defance thats why Kenny put him. Hope this unhappyness will gone soon.

24 Sep 2011 17:06:07
Carroll, Gerrard, Carra, Suarez and Enrique were class today. Reina needs so much more confidence, he is starting to scare me.

24 Sep 2011 17:05:33
I really hope KK has a talk with these guys about them fading in the second half sitting on a one goal lead.
We nearly paid the price with Brighton, and again today.
We have to sort it out or it will cost us games.
Even gerrard couldn't change the pattern of play much- we need more determination in midfield, and we have to stop bottling it when we go ahead.

Jesus, we won and still there's waves of negativity. Not the greatest 2nd half performance, but still probably created more clear-cut chances than Wolves, and should have been out of sight with Downing chance. Suarez wants to score or set up in every minute of the game, it's clearly his nature, so of course he's not gonna be happy being subbed, but Stevie G needs the minutes, he wasn't gonna come on for anyone else with the game as it was, and Kenny will explain that to Suarez when he's calmed down. Progress every year and i have no doubt this won't be the only contract Suarez signs for Liverpool.

Cheer up fellas.

few points to make:
1.why was henderson on instead of bellamy?
2.why take suarez off when he was causing all the damage?
3.skrtel needs to be dropped
4.carroll played great best game so far.link up play was good.
5.carragher was good no nonsense display.
6.is this are best team atm:
--------------reina-------------
-kelly-carragher-coates-enrique-
----------lucas-gerrard------
--bellamy-----suarez--downing---
--------------carroll-----------

Me too, wanted to see bellamy playing today. Henderson was not much involved again, today, but must say much better than last week. Hope, he will keep on improving. YNWA

24 Sep 2011 16:59:55
What the hell is wrong with suarez, ok nobody likes being taken off but there is no need for the bad attitude and storming off straight down the tunnel as soon as full time whistle is blown n after all it was the last 10 mins n he was coming off for stevie, think kenny wanted to leave Carroll on to try boost his confidence a bit.

24 Sep 2011 16:59:46
Why the hell does Dalglish constantly sub Luis Suarez? He is clearly our best player by a country mile and I cannot remember the last time that Suarez started and finished a match for us. Today, Suarez was involved in all of our best play yet he's taken off yet again. You can see how unhappy he was at being taken off today, he was livid. I'm sorry to say but we need to keep our best players happy here, if not, I can see Suarez wanting to leave sooner rather than later.

Suarez only had 1 week on holiday. If you want to see Suarez pull his hamstring then be my guest.

3 points obviously isn't enough. Would you rather we lost but played really well?

Fantastic effort by wolves! Love it when the lower teams make a match out of it!

Are you mad ? we scrapped through and you call them a lower team where does that leave us,we have to improve to regain what we consider our rightful place, chuffed we won ,a long way to go yet.

HEY LFC FANS....

just check out my post at 12.42 today

i didnt like this game at all.............i thought it was the wrong choice...and so do many other fans..given that we have bellamy and kuyt on the bench who work so well with luis...

we struggled......got pinned by wolves...WOLVES....for godsake...and henderson was missing and offered sweet FA..

i told u that we would struggle with that 11....

will kk stick to his guns?? if yes...be prepared for more frustration guys!

Erm, I'm sorry nameless, but we won didnt we...?

What's frustrating is the amount of full stops in that post

why does kk always take off suarez.......when he is tormenting the wolves defence.

shocking..i dont care what anyone says...i do support liverpool but its so frsutrating to see crap performances when we have a decent team and that certain players shouldnt be playing at the moment...

if i was crazy..no-one would share my opinion..but yet again..henderson plays and suarez does more than caroll..

Good first half performance after a nervy 5 minutes, Andy Carroll looking like he's getting more used to KK's style of play, and is having a really solid game. I have to admit i'd get Bellamy on for Henderson before the 60 minute mark, think Wolves will crumble with AC dragging them all over the park, and Suarez, Downing and Bellamy attacking at pace. Not saying Hendo's playing too badly, just think the pace is the key in this game.

Get in aboot 'em!

3 Goals in 3 Games, 2 Penalties and 2 fatal mistakes in the current (wolves) game with 22 minutes on the board, what does Jamie Caraghar have to do to get out of the starting 11. He has been trying so hard to get benched by KD is just so unfair on him. Look at Flanagan, despite a great season last year, he just had to make 1 mistake this year to get his wish and be booted out. Meireles and Aqualani did not even have to try at all and they were released. But the boss is just not listening to Cara. Maybe Cara should complain for discrimination at work.

KK, please, bench Carra. Isn't it bloody obvious he's not good enough anymore!!

I just want to make a point on bellemy being on the bench! If we are needing a player to come on in the 2nd half to make an impact, then we have no better player to do that!
if Carroll was on the bench he wouldnt make such an impact if he came on as long balls could come into play.
If Bellemy comes on he will scare the life out of tired wolves players

really disapointed with the team selection today, hate to be a pesimist but i would much rather have seen bellamy and kuyt on the pitch, i think it gives us a lot better attacking options than sticking big andy up there to lump the ball to. Here's hoping i'm proved wrong and we win 3-0.

SideShowBob

I can't understand why he's not starting Bellamy and Kuyt, unless its to build confidence for Carroll and Henderson in a less pressured game than the derby will be.

All I can think is that he knows something that rest of the world doesn't- maybe he sees things in training, who knows.

Really hope it doesn't backfire with a poor performance.

24 Sep 2011 14:19:44
The Reds team in full is: Reina, Kelly, Enrique, Carragher, Skrtel, Downing, Henderson, Lucas, Adam, Carroll, Suarez. Subs: Doni, Gerrard, Bellamy, Coates, Flanagan, Kuyt, Spearing.

Just been reading the comments on the LFC website - have to say I am embarrassed to be honest. Some people saying they actually hope we lose can you believe that? These people are not fit to support Liverpool FC.

Hey LFC FANS.....

as i said at 12.42pm TODAY....

it seems kk has gone with carroll and henderson..and left out bellamy an kuyt...which i feel is more dynamic and fluid with downing an suarez as the four.......

so i guarantee a very difficult and tough game for us......

I dont agree with kk team..its clearly his first choice..why henderson playing on the right..adam needs to improve..and caroll needs to do much more in the game

i will support........but i am frustrated with kk first choice 11

Waiting & wanting to see what Magic King Kenny puts to bring the strong, giant & ruthless striker that caused havoc to English Premier League defenses back from Dead.
Come on Andy Carroll, YNWA!

I agree Carroll's a terrific player and there's a lot more we haven't yet seen from him, but at this point Bellamy has the edge on him in terms of his form, so surely it has to be him as first choice?

Howard Webb is the most shocking refree in the game agree or disagree

He's a legend.... HERBIE(MUFC)

You're watching City-Everton? I came to say that exact same thing. Absolute disgrace.

Jack D.

I think most of them are pretty useless to be honest. Look at Gerrard on the edge of the box against Brighton- anyone could see the defender just fell all over him, and yet Gerrard was penalised!

Seriously, most of them are complacent, weak-minded fools, and a disgrace to their trade.
Fortunately the PL has a lot of financial clout and the clubs are going to get fed up with half the games being decided by the blind refs lottery system, and something will be done to tackle the poor standards.

Cheers mate :)

lucas must sit this one out henderson adam gerrard downing with gerrard on the right henderson adam in the middle downing on the left

We would die without Lucas.

Agreed, without lucas our back 4 will have even less protection than it has already, i really like charlie but he can't play the defensive midfielders role like lucas can.. we'll just end up with a massive gap between midfield and defence.

hey lfc fans.........

desperate for liverpool to win today....but that negative nervous part of me thinks...........if carroll...or henderson play instead of bellamy and kuyt...we will struggle IMMENSELY and it will be an even game...or a slim 1-0 win to us

anyone share this view?

for me...spearing and lucas in midfield...bellamy suarez kuyt and downing = 3-0 win to liverpool

adam and lucas....with henderson downing carroll an suarez= tough tough game and at best slim 1-0 win..or 2-1.......

Spearings had one game and gave away a goal..... (i do love him though) so don't have a go a Hendo

-McMenemy

Im not having a go...im just saying that..spearing or shelvey should be given a good run and maybe we will all see a better combination in midfield..

You have to go with what works mate, and anyone can see that Bellamy is more of threat up front than Andy at the moment.

Once Andy hits better form the decision will get much harder, but as things stand surely we have to start Bellamy?

I'm just glad we have enough options to have to make a choice. This time last season we had a reluctant Torres and a lightweight Ngog.

How times change, eh?

Okay Comrades! It's match day and here's how to watch it live for those of you unable to get to the game.

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

RED LENIN

stop picking on the new players? i only mentioned henderson and charlie adam cos neither have impressed at all and i believe they are costing us points in games by putting so much pressure on the defence because the cant keep the ball and henderson disappears in every game ive seen him play, he doesnt look good at right wing and he doesnt fit the bill to control the cm position so really he should be used as a sub until he improves. Downing has been really good, supplying great crosses but no one to get on them, as for suarez he is our best player so how can you slate him sorry? always puts in 110 % and without him we look average, to say he had a bad game at spursis just an insult, didnt hav any support especialy with 10 then 9 men, but still caused the spurs defence problems, he missed a few but every striker who puts in so much effort is allowed that arent they? RedTurk

Caused spurs defence problems? What console are you on? at 11 v 11 they were giving us a football lesson, just pleased stoke knocked them out the cup didn't really fancy going back their!

I'm sorry but don't see us getting fourth. We have a poor defence and misfiring forward.
Spurs have by far the better team and squad.
As seen last week during 4-0 defeat they better than us.
I can Spurs even beating Chelsea to third.
I think it's gonna take us minimum 3 years to get into Champions League and maybe ten to challenge for title.
Lot of work to do. Let's not get carried away.

24 Sep 2011 10:48:53
i believe we are 3 quality players away from premier league glory and these 3 are a right winger, attacking midfielder to replace gerrard and a top striker to partner suarez for the long term or even a front 3 with carroll if he comes good. Right now, any player who performs below par should be subbed, i.e. charlie adam and jordan henderson they should not be playing simply because they are new buys or alot of money was spent on them, kenny has replaced carroll cos hes performing poor but he should do the same with these 2 becos they not any better, also i feel we play better and look more solid with a 4-5-1.RedTurk

Well then Lucas needs to be dropped too. He is also part of an underperforming midfield. He is the DM, and we conceded 4 vs the Spuds, did he play well?

Suarez has been poor last couple of games. Do we drop him too?

What has Downing done lately? Drop him too?

Stop picking on the new players. The whole team was toss vs Spuds.

Bellemy is perfect for right wing in my opinion.....as for today, if we stick with 442 like jk has been playing I would go with this: reina, Kelly, carra, coates, Enrique, bellemy, Adam, Lucas, downing, kuyt, Suarez.

good morning eds,

i havent commented on here for a while , because ive been so angry with the so called fans that we have got.
the moaning has been so disgraceful.
i think if we do not get 4th this season i think the fans should take somke of the blame.
and not just the players,
no wonder some of the players are playing with no confidence. even before they played they were been condemned.

so come on fans get behind the lads .
in kenny we just.
rant over,

you are doing a wonderful job ed, so thankyou.

chrissy

Blame the fans when the team plays sh#te. Good thinking there.

There is some truth in this- if the Kop was silent, it would affect the players performance.
One of the reasons Stoke have such a good home record is their fans at the Britannia never seem to stop singing and shouting, and it adds to the atmosphere and gives the players an extra charge.

I think the fans at the game are definitely are responsible for supporting and encouraging the team- it is sort of their job to do that, if they want to see the lads win.

I really take my hat off to the fans who kept singing right to end of the Spurs game, even though with nine men we had no hope of winning, they didn't stop.
That's what support is all about- through the good times and the bad.

And to some extent, the fans who comment in online discussions should also think twice before writing players off because they have a bad couple of games. Its times like that when they need us most.

Exactly like the fans who travelled all the way to the Ataturk Stadium in 2005 and completely drowned the Stadium throughout the CL final, ESPECIALLY at half time when Liverpool looked to have been well and truly beaten. You'll never get a better example than that occasion. Absolute classic!

Rein , Kelly , carra , skertel , enrique , Lucas , Adam , Henderson , downing , Suarez , Bellamy . 3-1 the red men .

Must say its the most likely one. KK doesn't like to drop Hendo or adam. I hope that both bellars and kuyt are in the starting line-up. Would love to see coates there, too but its very unlikely.
Doesn't matter who starts, hope we are getting a good win, today. Best of luck. YNWA

I've just spent all afternoon going through our Club's players who played a pivotal role in laying the foundations for the success of LFC - Alex Raisbeck, Elisha Scott, Harry Bradshaw, etc; the post war players like Ian Callaghan, Roger Hunt, Billy Liddell, Albert Stubbins; the 70's Liverpool legends like Dalglish, Emlyn Hughes, Hansen, Souness, Clemence, Alan Kennedy and Ray Kennedy, Keegan and Toshack; the dominant 80's machine who continued raking in the success - Beardsley, Barnes, Rushie, Houghton, Whelan, Aldo, etc. It really is good looking back at the way our Club has been shaped since 1892 (It really swells you with pride!)

Now now lads, let's not have another spat- one man's hobby and interest is another man's sheer boredom, and there are all sorts of histories people get interested in. Why not LFC?

Remember, we'll all feel the same way when the first reds goal goes in this afternoon.

24 Sep 2011 00:49:56
Tomorrow is going to be a tough game. I really hope that Bellamy and Suarez are up front and Gerrard comes in for 20 mins or so at the end, preferably with us up by 3 goals. I think we will dominate possession but our defence is too susceptible to counter attack due to lack of speed. Thank god for Lucas. Funny how he made everyone forget Mascherano so quickly.

Would like the peoples take on playing a CM strictly as a DM. Is it really such a necessity in todays game, especially when at home? Do you not think it can actually cause us to play a little too deep and allow teams to come onto us too much?

Utd dont play with a designated DM as such, they play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 with two hardworking CM's who get up and down the pitch. Now Kenny likes a 4-4-2 but then I think Lucas needs to do a bit more than just hang back, protect the back 4 and get the ball from the back. To me Lucas is only suited to a 4-1-4-1 or Chelsea type setup playing the Mikel role.

Thoughts anyone?

Not slating Lucas, just think maybe 4-4-2 doesn't seem to suit the role he is being asked to do. I would actually really like to see Lucas with a more free role getting fwd more and finding those Brazilian skills. {Ed002's Note -

Oh yeah Mascherano, he isnt fit to lace lucas's boots, i think this young man will be the brazil captain in a few years, he is immense

Adam (slow, bad tackler and a bit lazy at times) and Lucas (hard worker but slow and bad tackler) are not an ideal CM pair for a 4-4-2 to me.

Throw a spanner in the works and play Henderson & Gerrard in CM. More pace in the side.
