Can no one find out any emails or anything for any rich sheikhs that would be interested in buying the club because right now we need someone like that with the money to sort us out?

Torres gets paid somewhere within a whisker of a 100k a week to stick the ball in the back of the net for the biggest club side in this land.

I didn't know that Torres played for Manchester Utd.

really mate, he plays for a small, under-funded premiership team.

All of the cry baby plastics forget that this lad had our club's motto etched on the inside of his captains armband at Athletico. None of you understand anything. Gerrard is LFC's true warrior hero. The only true great who will never win a league title. How many does giggs have? Ged all day.Bennyboy

Is this moment being lead by a cab driver?

whats the next move for liverpool fans. If the Fans target people over the weekend, Then bankers won't be able to use emails ect on monday morning.

Gordan geko, someone reminded me greed is good, now its legal. How do we keep wall street out of it. We should increase the pressue on Hicks.

RE: Torres + Liverpool + leaving

would Torres be that figure of hate.

No Torres is a great player/ has been a great player for LFC. Hicks has lied to him, like he lied to fans.Hes upset, like the fans are upset.

His pitch performace is great. He is a class player who makes class movement and play. At the moment he is not being supplied with the ball.

He is not a disgrace to the shirt. Hicks is the disgrace. football is a game of 11 players. If 3players are of quality that you are at, then its diffucult to win games, stay motivated ect.

Would Torres become that same figure should he leave? . . .YES! Why?, because his attitude at the moment is a disgrace to the shirt. He may be one of the most prolific goal-scorers we have had in recent times, but his current appraoch is nothing like the Torres we know. How can he use lack of investment in quality as a reason for being unsettled when he is one of the main culprits? If he isn't playing well, he isn't interested. If he gets kicked, he doesn't like it and if a game doesn't take his fancy, he decides he is injured. I have lost a lot of respect for Torres and patience is wearing thin. Should he decide to leave, his memory (for me anyway) will be of a moaning little wimp rather than a top-class striker

I was discussing Torres at work today and i completely agree with you, his attitude stinks. If he had the attitude and determination of Tevez he would be amazing, as it stands if jan comes round and 40-50 mil is offered i will not be dis-pleased if he goes, we can get two strikers who would bleed to play for our club!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I disagree IF Torres has been lied to again i wouldn't blame him IF he wanted to go.

No one in our team is playing well at the momment so why not say the same about them. For me Carragher has been 1 of our worse performers this season, so does that mean that Jamie's attitude is a disgrace?

Torres had problems before and after the World Cup he needs time last week in the 2nd half he assisted both goals and played a lot better with no service what so ever.

I said at the time when the Chelsea, Man.City and Barca rumours were doing the rounds that if a bid came in for him of 60-70 mill then i'd take the money and RUN.

Why? Because we could've got 2 strikers and a pacey winger (Arda Turan) for the money we received for him and would've had a better squad all round.

He stayed loyal and now people are having a go at him. IF that's the case then start having a go at the rest of the team as they are all playing crap except Pepe of course.

Great minds Blair. Great Minds.
Did the same thing but was put on Rumours page after yours was put on Banter page. Very funny New Street Journal article.

Is the noose closing in? At least Hicks is suffering from some chaffing.

I hope it is Dirks i like this article because this was on probably the most financial reporting newspaper in the world. Anyone who is anyone in the banking sector will have hopefully seen it and will distance themselve's from these fraudsters that are H&G.

Ed, what do u think is the most likely outcome in the takeover situation?

also ed what do you think the scores will be against sunderland , utrecht and blackpool
thanks
west midlander red {ed's note - the most likely outcome is a sale going through next month. The scores I will go for are: 1-0, 3-1, 2-2. I think Blackpool's desire and energy will be enough to give them a draw.}

Red for life! {ed's note - Kuyt was one of Holland's best players in the World Cup, amazed me that he showed such good ability.}

Yeah, How does that work? For Holland he looks perfectly good for the Dutch, yet for all his running doesn't look half as effective for us! So what's the difference? Better players? Less pressure? Possibly a more attacking role, knowing he has a player behind him who can defend?

The Irish Rover {ed's note - probably a mix of those things, plus receiving better passes, having more options when on the ball, all those things make it much easier to play football.}

I took this off Wall Street Times (sorry for pasting but very good reading).

Mr. Hicks, co-owner of England's hallowed Liverpool FC, is on the run from a mob of angry fans who blame him for the team's tailspin. The 118-year-old club was one of England's best when he bought it in 2007. Since then, the crippling debt load he took on to buy Liverpool has strained the team's finances and contributed to its woes on the pitch.

Now, Liverpool faithful are waging a fierce campaign to evict the American owner. Their strategy: Scare away banks and other financiers who might throw Mr. Hicks a lifeline, starving Mr. Hicks of needed cash and forcing him to sell. To do that, they are using the tools of the digital age to track Mr. Hicks' efforts to drum up money, then bombard would-be lenders with thousands of irate emails, phone calls and Tweets.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. Hicks learned firsthand what it's like to be the prey in a digital hunt.

Around 3:40 p.m., as Mr. Hicks sat on a sidewalk bench in midtown Manhattan, he was spotted by Liverpool native Paul Wilson. It occurred to Mr. Wilson, a 35-year-old financial consultant, that the offices of Deutsche Bank AG and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. were on the same street. He guessed that Mr. Hicks and his son, Tom Hicks Jr., might be visiting the banks to plead for funds.

So Mr. Wilson whipped out his BlackBerry, snapped some photos, and zapped the images to his wife, Erin McCloskey. Then he trailed Mr. Hicks walking into the lobby of the building that houses Deutsche.

"I didn't throw my coffee on him, but the thought did cross my mind, " Mr. Wilson said Wednesday.

Ms. McCloskey quickly posted the photos on Twitter and explained the circumstances.

Over in Liverpool, the Hicks sighting was like an open-net goal for Alan Kayll, a 40-year-old cab driver who is a ringleader of the anti-Hicks campaign. Mr. Kayll quickly penned a form letter to J.P. Morgan and Deutsche officials urging them not to help Mr. Hicks refinance roughly £200 million ($313 million) that is owed to Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, stemming from his purchase of the team.

"If you join Tom Hicks in raping and pillaging Liverpool Football Club, then you will be making a very powerful enemy, " his letter read in part. "You are facing an energized, well-informed mass of Liverpool fans from around the world."

He posted the letter online, along with the email addresses of executives at Deutsche and J.P. Morgan.

An hour later, a senior J.P. Morgan executive had already received 30 emails from Liverpool fans, with new messages landing every few minutes. "It's totally viral right now, " the executive said, deleting emails as they arrived. Public-relations staff at Deutsche said they received hundreds.

Neither bank is in talks with Mr. Hicks, said people familiar with the situation. Through a spokesman, Mr. Hicks declined to comment on Tuesday's events or his stewardship of the team.

The team's financial woes have hurt its performance. Liverpool finished last season in seventh place, a disaster for fans accustomed to being in England's top four. A team official said this week that the cost of servicing its debts is depleting club resources. Fans argue that makes it tougher to recruit top players.

Meanwhile, in Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon, the melee was just beginning. Adam Eljarrah, an 18-year-old Liverpool fan attending New York University, saw Ms. McCloskey's Twitter messages. He showed up outside Deutsche's skyscraper on Park Avenue. The pre-med freshman carried a poster, popular among Liverpool supporters in England, declaring that Mr. Hicks and his co-owner are "Not Welcome ANYWHERE."

Mr. Eljarrah says he loitered outside the building for about 45 minutes, hoping to confront Mr. Hicks. Around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Hicks emerged. According to a person familiar with the incident, the younger Mr. Hicks spotted Mr. Eljarrah—identifiable in his red-and-white Liverpool scarf—and told a nearby cop: "This guy is trouble."

As the police officer intercepted Mr. Eljarrah, he says, he waved his sign and yelled, "Get out of our club!"

Liverpool fans aren't the only ones lashing out at American ownership. Manchester United fans have mounted a campaign against the family of American businessman Malcolm Glazer, which owns the team and has loaded it with debt.

In Liverpool, fans who are angling to remove Mr. Hicks are sporting scarves bearing a "Thanks But No Yank$!" slogan.

Lately, financial institutions have borne the brunt of Liverpool's rage. Fans have been flooding RBS with letters and phone calls urging the bank to seize the club and give Mr. Hicks the boot. Top executives' inboxes sometimes have been hit with several hundred emails per day.

A few weeks ago, some fans started a Facebook page encouraging people to boycott RBS. Mr. Kayll, the cab driver, drew up lists of financial institutions Mr. Hicks is believed to have approached, posting them on a website he helps run that urges fans to help oust Mr. Hicks.

The site features an image of a blood-drenched RBS logo. The site's motto: "We will go as far as we need to."

Despite the site's menacing slogan and graphic, Mr. Kayll says his group is "totally against violence. We're a group of passionate fans trying to save their football club. All professional people with families."

The campaign hit Stephen Schwarzman, the billionaire co-founder of Blackstone Partners, whose GSO Capital Partners hedge fund considered participating in a deal to help Mr. Hicks refinance the RBS loan. By Monday, GSO had backed out of the talks. A Blackstone spokesman, Peter Rose, said the emails (including thousands aimed at Mr. Schwarzman) didn't affect GSO's decision not to participate in the deal.

That wasn't the message Mr. Kayll got. Driving his cab in Liverpool Tuesday morning, he says he received a call from London-based GSO executive Michael Whitman. Mr. Kayll says Mr. Whitman told him GSO lost interest in part thanks to the pressure campaign. "He said, 'We understand the passion of Liverpool supporters and obviously took that into consideration, '" Mr. Kayll says.

Mr. Whitman didn't respond to requests for comment. Blackstone acknowledges that Mr. Whitman and Mr. Kayll spoke, but deny he said the email campaign forced GSO out of the deal.

Still basking in victory hours later, Mr. Kayll was euphoric when the Hicks photos from New York dropped into his lap. He crowed: "We know his every move."

Is a Fan Ballout of LFC possible?

Is credible persons organising this moment?

24 Sep 2010 18:36:38

ED who supports LFC can you see us doing a Leeds? {ed's note - no, we are not in the same position as them at all. The club is in good shape, apart from the owners and the debt they have laden on the club. Once they are removed, either through a sale or the banks taking over, we will be ok I believe.}

- - - - - - - - - -
Well said Ed. I just wish the more people would realise we are in this situation mostly for one reason - the leveraged buyout by Hicks and Gillett in Feb 2007.

24 Sep 2010 19:14:47

Three Merseyside MPs have met with Liverpool FC to raise concerns over the club's future.

Liverpool supporters Steve Rotheram (Walton), Alison McGovern (Wirral South) and Derek Twigg (Halton) have all raised concerns in the House of Commons over the rammifications of the sale which will seal Tom Hicks and George Gillett's imminent departure from Anfield.

On Thursday, the trio met Christian Purslow, the club's managing director, to discuss issues raised by supporters and constituents in recent weeks as the sale process continues to drag on with only weeks remaining before the Royal Bank of Scotland's loan deadline expires.

Fans continue to remain anxious about the long-term future at Anfield following the Americans' failure to ensure that the club remained debt-free following their takeover in 2007.

However a statement from the group revealed that they were satisfied with the outcome of the meeting and felt that Purslow, along with fellow board members, commercial director, Ian Ayre and, chairman, Martin Broughton are doing all they can to find the right buyer for the club.

"We are grateful to Liverpool Football Club and Christian Purslow for agreeing to a meeting so that we could discuss the current situation regarding the potential sale, " it read.

"We are conscious that a crucial deadline is looming which has increased the anxiety of supporters, thousand of whom have contacted us, and we are keen to do all we can to see the club in a sustainable financial position.

"We came away with the clear view that everything possible is being done by Chairman, Martin Broughton, Managing Director, Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre to secure a buyer that will be right for Liverpool Football Club and will take the club forward.

"It is important that the Club gets things right this time regarding its future ownership and we believe the independent members of the Board deserve the backing of the club's supporters."

All three Labour MPs signed an Early Day Motion in June to highlight Gillett and Hicks' failure to 'exercise responsible stewardship', citing the failure to fulfil their promise to build a new stadium in Stanley Park as one of justification for 'a positive strategy to take the club forward'.

Rotheram, who was Lord Mayor of Liverpool before being elected as Walton MP, added: "The future of Liverpool FC and the building of a new stadium is crucial to the regeneration of the Anfield area and I emphasised this during our meeting with Christian Purslow.

"We need to bring an end to this saga and the uncertainty that has helped create such horrendous conditions for residents living in the area.

Hi ed, just like to say how you doing and what a great website you have here, my first question is what's this stupid rumour going around that pepe reina could be off I don't believe it myself but I think he's been our best player over the last 5 seasons, do you think there's any truth to the rumour, my 2nd question is do you think roy will be here after the takeover happens because his transfers haven't been the best so far I mean poulson(although I think he played ok against the scum) and konchesky who got ripped apart by pace by an average nani and my final question is with all this due dillance(might have spelt that wrong) going on we do have interested parties willing to buy liverpool fc so why won't hicks or gillet except there bid before its too late and the banks takeover.

Kingplfc
{Editor's note - Firstly I am one of the Ed's and I am the one who supports "scum". I do not think Reina will leave the club. Why would he, I think he likes the club a lot and will be the next captain for the club. Secondly I think Roy will stay, there is not much you can do with limited funds. Also watch Nani in the next few games and he is not that "average". Liverpool would be a lot better with him}

24 Sep 2010 19:03:54

Last night was the first chance I had to watch the Northampton game, and my opinion most of the players were n't as bad as I've read in here, and the tactics(manager) was most at fault, from the start of the game our defensive line was on our 18 yards, why at home against a league 2 team , we playing so deep and defensive, having watched the united game just before that, their defence was on the half way line even when their opposition had the ball.
This defensive mentality was apparent in all our games, and when our midfield or forwards get the ball they are too deep and get swamped by the opponents and in the few cases when one of them dare to cross the half way they are often isolated and again surrounded with no support or route out . .
I do not accept the fact that we suddenly have 20 players of league 2 standard, all players do not loose their form suddenly unless there is something wrong with the tactics or coaching.
Until Roy (change) or get changed (taking Sami lee with him) I can't see us winning any games - not comfortably any way.

Roy

Okay fellow reds;
if we bought Torres last summer for £20-23m and he had played like he has this season would you now be saying get rid what a waste etc etc
yet i bet most of those same supposed fans would still currently beleive he is the best striker in the world when fit and are giving him time to 'get fitness up' to 'find his form' etc
well do us ALL a favour and give roy the same consideration! !
its not yet his team its not yet his style of play its not even october you muppets!
for my money sell the injury prone prima donna and get two good strikers who will play more than 60% of games.
if its form we should give him time just like roy but if its attitude he can go with all you sad doom merchants and nae sayers and jump in the mersey. .if you even know where that is! !

24 Sep 2010 18:37:44

Liverpool have had fewer managers in 120 years of football than most clubs get through in a decade. Knee-jerk reactions to managerial appointments have never been our style and it's served quite well so far. Give the bloke a chance and get behind him starting tomorrow!

Kuyt was instrumental in the dutch team all the way thru. .and utd only had 1. .howard webb. look at the scum , the likes of macheda and say welbeck have had more opportunities than ours and done really well. .what does purp do? farms out 1 to sunderland and benchwarms the other. . what i mean is all these youngsters are good but not as good as some of us think. you would be lucky to properly blood 2 a season. . If it is agreed that Torres will be allowed to leave in January, the problem for me in the last summer was that he wanted to stay in the Premier League with Chelsea/ ManCity. If he was to move abroad to Italy or Spain (Inter, AC Milan or Barca), and as long as we were properly compensated (offers above £40m) he would go with my goodwill. I would hate for him to play for another EPL team though (like Fowler and Owen). {ed's note - where did you get that rubbish about him wanting to stay in the Premier League?}

- - - - - - - - - - - -

I thought it was believed both Chelsea and ManCity had made big offers in the summer and Torres had a preference for England over Italy where he'd be kicked to death and Spain where Barcelona would not outbid the two English clubs and he wouldn't play for Ath. Madrids arch rivals Real. Sorry if this is wrong but I think Guiillem Balague said this on the radio before the world cup. {ed's note - Balague just says what will be the most controversial these days. The English game is far more brutal than the Italian, he gets kicked far more here than he ever would in either Italy or Spain.}

- - - - - - - -
BALAGUE IS THE BIOGRAPHER OF RAFA BENITEZ AND NORMALLY WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT LIVERPOOL IS WHAT RAFA THINKS ABOUT LIVERPOOL - HENCE VERY NEGATIVE ABOUT EVERYTHING LIVERPOOL, PUSHING STORIES ABOUT CERTAIN PLAYERS BEING UNHAPPY (REINA HAS THE SAME AGENT AS RAFA) AND APOCALYPTIC THEORIES SURROUNDING THE OWNERSHIP. WHAT PRICE JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Also for Balague everything was bad at Liverpool before Benitez (under Houllier), after Benitez (under Hodgson) and everything bad during the Benitez regime was the fault of everybody else but Benitez.

Why Roy still using Maxi, he is completly waste. Give Bable chance on the right! !

ED? Can you tell me the name of one player in the world who can replace alonso.? {ed's note - Banega, I have been watching him for Valencia this season and he has been excellent.}

And he must be affordable too? . Is anyone from liverpool watching him .? . And any takeover news.? keep me posted. |AJI| {ed's note - we were having him watched under Rafa, no idea why we never moved for him when he was available for less than 5m and instead we bought an injured Aqualani. Sorry, no news on the takeover front, it is just wait and see on that now.}

Talking about our players in the world cup. I am talking about the quality. . You need to possess some quality to reach a world cup squad which 90% of our squad managed. So its not that we lack quality in our squad. I was highlighting this.

Breathtaking PHOENIX

Red for life! {ed's note - Kuyt was one of Holland's best players in the World Cup, amazed me that he showed such good ability.}

24 Sep 2010 17:49:09

Only my second post but I would like to make an observation. . I think its pointless debating Roys position at the moment as he will surely be given much more time.
However, I do think many managers thrive with the No.2 that suits them - Clough/ Taylor as a perfect example -and struggle without the right person in that role. Some of Fergies worst times at United have been when the No.2 role was vacant or the wrong person was there. I also think Rafa suffered and maybe never recovered from the fall-out with Paco.
I know Roy wanted to bring his No.2 from Fulham but was originally knocked back. .I think. Could this and Sammy (who allegedly is not altogether popular with the players) be part of the reason for him settling in slowly, and possibly not getting his message across to the players as he would like?
Just a thought. . . .

I think Carra should be dropped because we play to deep with him in the team. Will R H drop him? No chance. Gyan and Bent are very good strikers. I will be surprised if our defense will be good enough to keep them from scoring. Pepe will need to be at his best. Lets hope we can outscore them.

Plastic fans are quite easy to spot. They normally jump on here after a quick burst of Champ Man and start spouting off about this and that. Usually involving talk about our league position in September or banging on about us not signing this player or that player. Asking us to hit believe for Rafa, quoting the Daily Star for facts, listing their dream elevens and generally behaving like adolescent girls. Get a grip on yourselves, this isn't a frigging game on your x box this is reality. So you don't think Woy is up to the job. So what are you going to do about it? Cry and cry until he has gone? How about giving the bloke a bit of time before casting your unfounded superior opinions. If any of you had ever held a high pressure role in your lives you would know that it takes a while to find your feet and settle in before you start achieving your best. Seems that high pressure to most of the plastic brigade is deciding whether to have coco pops or rice crispies for breakie wekkies. Get real and stop giving this club a bad name! Bennyboy

We had 4 players at the WC final but wat contribution did they produce reina en babel didn't even played a single game in the entire tournament kurt only scored once en torres didn't score any at all

24 Sep 2010 17:11:48

I got to agree with you ed. . Too slow for a wing back. . Was suggesting a worst case scenario . So that leaves us with kelly at right back which is not bad at all !
Ed what do you say on the rest of the strategies? {ed's note - I think the 4-4-2 with Johnson right back in the changing room watching on tv is about the best strategy.}

24 Sep 2010 17:07:42

To the guy who suggested the 5-3-2 formation.
Well. At present we can say we are following a similar formation. Cos johnson and konch do alot more attacking and find themselves caught out while defending. And a difference is that cole played a left wing role against united.
So unless you put better wing backs I don think your formation will work well.

Thats my opinion.

Meireles should be used at central midfield along with gerrard next game. . Cole behind torres in the hole. Jovanovic left wing . Johnson in right wing - although this won't happen. I opt for him here cos of his defensive inadequacies . And hence the right winger will have added responsibility to cover for glen's blunders which only kuyt is capable of. Not babel-guy is lazy . Maxi is useless.
Kelly or carra at right back. Rest of the positions fill itself.
I ll attack and go for goals in the first half. 2 atleast. I ll let the quartet of torres gerrard meireles and cole thrive for 60 min without negative plays of other central players like lucas or poulsen. 60 min I ll bring in poulsen and go for possession control . Poulsen for cole. Meireles in the hole. Jovanovic replaced at 65 by ngog. If we are in a comfortable lead I ll withdraw torres , shift ngog as lone striker and pacheco in an attackin midfield role in the left flank.
Ed your thoughts on my objective?

Why don't we try this formation? ?

reina

skrtel carragher agger

johnson konchesky

gerrard poulsen merieles

cole torres

defence is solid, attacking wingbacks who know how to defend, solid midfield with both defensive and attacking qualities, cole with some guile and craft and fernando's finishing! what do people think

24 Sep 2010 16:49:22

What's wrong with Torres?

1) Bad service. As a forward I know that if you don't get decent service from the midfield, about all you can do is stand around waiting for a break. It looks like you're not interested, and I've been on the receiving end of a number of bollockings for not looking up for it, but in truth it's just that I couldn't get the ball and there is little else I can do but close defenders down when they have the ball, which Torres is doing. The two times we released Torres against Man U all they could do was take him down, and that's how we got our goals.

2) Still injured? I don't think he is. I think he's had so many injuries that he doesn't trust his body again yet. He's been pulling out of challenges and not committing himself as much as he used to. I broke my leg in a car accident and I was back playing football 8 months later. It took me another 3-4 months before I actually trusted my leg not to break again when I went into challenges. There's nothing you can do to combat this fear, you just have to keep playing until you trust it again.

3) Doesn't care? No way. He's a Liverpool fan, and although I'm sure he's frustrated with the mediocre players that populate Liverpool's squad (like we all are), he would still do his best to ensure we win (like we all would).

Bottom line is that I think it's a combination of him not getting the service he used to get, and not trusting his body fully. I'm not going to say that he'll come good in the next match, because people always say that and it doesn't happen. It's more complicated than simply being unfit and it could be a few months before we see the true Torres that we're used to. Hopefully I'm wrong and he comes good tomorrow. Let's just pray he doesn't get any more injuries.

One is whether Royal Bank of Scotland can take control without the business falling into administration - which would lead to a nine-point deduction for Liverpool to its Premier League tally (and, right now, would leave it with an interesting minus four points, which is a bit surreal).

Jeez can this really happen?

No.
All debt etc is not on LFC, they are on kop holdings and other "laundering" type companies, they will go into administration, NOT LFC! .
BUT that decision lies with the FA i believe. . . . . nuff said !

Can I please throw an alternative perspective to the Torres debate.

Here is a guy, who over the past 2 and a bit seasons has been blighted by injury, caused on international duty almost every single time. The last injury during the world cup was caused by a burst of running and then a damaged abductor.
Anyone who has played footie at any level, who has had a bad injury would know that it does play on your mind slightly about how much stress you can put on a previously injured area of the body, coupled with the fact that certain tissue and ligaments never heal exactly to the same level they were at.

I therefore suggest that Torres's recent poor(ish) form may be more psychological as much as physical and also, perhaps, the management are encouraging Torres to increase the stability and strength as well as fitness gradually, rather than being rushed back to save the team, as he has been over the past few years, which overall will mean a fitter, stronger Nando over a more prolonged period of time. This guy loves the club and the fans and is a proud player who would not just sulk consistently like what Masch did.
I accept we are not currently in a position for this type of luxury, howeverI say that we will all start seeing Nando back to his best over the next 5 games. At the end of the day, the games he has played this season have been his pre-season and now is equivilent to the start of the season.

My specticles may still be rose tinted! ! !

I think at this moment, we should all be putting our efforts into something far more important than "what if's" and "when this happens", and that is SUPPORTING our team. The atmosphere at Anfield at the moment is appalling in comparision to what I remember it years ago. And from past experience we all know that when Anfield is a vocal intimidating place that the team is pretty ruthless on the field.

So why don't we all start getting behind the team we have NOW (afterall, it's the team we're going to have for the rest of the season, bar a few possible changes come January), and maybe that team will start performing like we all want them to.

So, enough of the slagging off and the supposed "I know what will happen next week, next jan etc" and start getting behind the team you all "say you support", because in my opinion, some of the comments that I read on hear aren't those of true LFC fans.

This is the most sense anybody has ever posted on this site i'm sick to death of the s*it atmosphere at Anfield myself these days! I know we're going through a very hard time at the minute and sometimes it is hard to motivate yourself to enjoy the games but Jesus Christ our clubs famous history was built with raw passion WE NEED THAT PASSION BACK! I posted a few times of my dismay with the appointment of Roy Hodgson. I am not a plastic fan. place of birth liverpool first match attended Leeds home evening kick off 1978. season ticket holder since 1985. I have an opinion and should not be called plastic, because i disagree with decisions the club have made in the past, and yes they still have my support. I disagreed with the sell out to the yanks was I wrong? I would love to have seen Kenny Dalglish given the Job again.Hodgson is a defensive coach period. Aurelio was let go by Rafa because of his injury record. Roy H brings him back another decision that I thought was wrong. Injured again what a surprise. This site is for people to give opinions. Not to insult fans who have different views. I know R H as a difficult job with lack of funds but He should have let go of Babel Kuyt Spearing Greek Lucas. Bought top class winger forward and Left back. He didnt. What do you think Ed am I plastic, for having theses opinions?

If it is agreed that Torres will be allowed to leave in January, the problem for me in the last summer was that he wanted to stay in the Premier League with Chelsea/ ManCity. If he was to move abroad to Italy or Spain (Inter, AC Milan or Barca), and as long as we were properly compensated (offers above £40m) he would go with my goodwill. I would hate for him to play for another EPL team though (like Fowler and Owen). {ed's note - where did you get that rubbish about him wanting to stay in the Premier League?}

- - - - - - - - - - - -

I thought it was believed both Chelsea and ManCity had made big offers in the summer and Torres had a preference for England over Italy where he'd be kicked to death and Spain where Barcelona would not outbid the two English clubs and he wouldn't play for Ath. Madrids arch rivals Real. Sorry if this is wrong but I think Guiillem Balague said this on the radio before the world cup. {ed's note - Balague just says what will be the most controversial these days. The English game is far more brutal than the Italian, he gets kicked far more here than he ever would in either Italy or Spain.}

Beleiveble for Roy Hodgson
Unbeleiveble for Rafa Benitez

Im starting to wish we STILL had Rafa around anyone else.

Better Manager but the players didn't like him. However he could attract better players than Hodgson I think.

If we are going to have a change of manager if/ when owners come in then it will be Manuel Pellegrini, or of course, Sam Allardyce! But then again, he would be better suited at Madrid.

Rafa Benitez

So the fans who want Hodgson out are plastic fans!Lets think about that we're not happy because our great club is 16th in the league , 10points off top after 5 games, northampton knocked us out of the league cup, he's style and tactics are shocking. His premiership record is not good, blackburn sacked him what did he do with fulham, so what he got them to the europa league final who gives a s* t, we're LIVERPOOL not a mickey mouse club, so if this makes us plastic fans what the hell are the clowns who keep saying give him time i wouldn't call ye liverpool fans , if ye are so called fans then you have to accept that Hodgson's appointment was a mistake, we haven't played well under him due to his bad tactics and off field problems are no excuse and we're better off with him gone.

And to sharkey.

Fernando Torres will be disliked for his attitude towards the end of his anfield career. I would tell him stop being a kid '' el nino '' . Cos everyone in the board are trying their best for a quick sale to ideal owners.
Roy is doing his best with the money he was given.
And when its not possible , what ever we have got have to pull up their socks and show what they are made of. Includin Torres. And for god sake. Our team has got 4 players who were in the world cup finals. And many excepting few played a part in it. And that shows our team is not that bad as well. Its how they are utilised that matters.
And torres is getting back to full fitness. I would take No excuses from him after that. If he frowns then , I would include him in the list of those who failed this season. Cos a person of such class doesn frown and complain. He plays his part perfectly like gerrard has done. I can understand torres's sentiments if he scores 30 goals , plays all season and still the team fails to reach 4th. But if he doesn , if he s fit but yet frowns and lets his attitude affect his performance then I ll have none of it.

And if does happen before torres's departure , I would well agree with those who are upset with him.
Btw am a torres fanatic who has been loving him and his football even when I was at athletico. Breathtaking Phoenix.

To the guy who took the eg of harry redknap taking charge when spurs were in relegation zone and bringin spurs to top 4.
I agree with you on this . Cos its an example to be taken as a model of return to winning ways. . But . . .
But . . I also agree with the rest of the fans who are slagging off roy hodgson. As for my views on him . I like him. He has started pretty well although the results don't show it. And I think its too early to look beyond him. However The irritation shown by the fans are cause of the situation we are in.
1. Ownership issues: Doesn look like it will be solved before january. Or even if it did it might not necessarily help . The ownership issue is surely affecting the players and their focus is not on football. This could further affect our confidence which has reached rock bottom. And could result in more defeats.
2. Losses like the northampton defeat will have a bad negative impact and will lead to poor play.
And if roy's job is to get us back to top 4- he needs to be proactive, stern, positive , aggressive in his ideas and look for attacking football. Which I ve not had a glimpse of. Half time team talk should be inspirational. It should be a season where players give their hearts out. And not frown. Torres, being the best eg.
He needs to attack from next game onwards.
Else we are bound to slip to 8th minimum. Lose torres , gerrard , reina for sure. And will never ever attract big players even if we had more money than the city owners if these inspirational figures arent there. Forget it. And I see us slipping to 10th and getting relegated as early as 2013-14. And you guys know what happened with leeds.
And mind you . Spurs managed only a top 10 finish that season. Which we can as well. But we can bid goodbye to those guys and forget our chances ever again.
So . Simply put. The matter is serious and needs a bigger inspired recovery than spurs which I believe our legendary club can pull off . If roy manager to calm down torres and get him smiling again.
And guys. Patience is important too. Go support the club like never before. We need european nights atmosphere every week. Starting sunderland we can surely get into a k game streak beene chelsea, Buildin up confidence and who knows we can debt chelsea as well.

I also want to put a few people straight on Woy. This guy has been in charge for a sum total of eleven games. And some plastic fans are already calling for his head. Get a grip. Whether he is the right man for the job is a different debate entirely, the guy is a decent man and deserves to be treated the LIVERPOOL way. I didn't see too many other high profile Manager's queuing up for the poison chalice. Its not his fault he has inherited a mediocre squad full of players who don't care about pulling on the Liver Bird. Sure some of his tactical choices have been a bit dubious but he needs time to work out the best set up of the team. And unfortunately, the best way to learn this is in genuine matches. Our true fans get behind our people and like it or lump it Woy is one of us now.

I'm sorry fella but we are not a top 10 team in world football. Being a supported club, I would agree a top 10 if not top 5 in the world. But we only managed to finish 7th in the premiership. So were only just top 10 in England.

It's interesting seeing fans complain over the current squad and blaming Rafa or Roy for the current squad situation.

I think we have to look a bit further back and consider some points:

1. 2008 - 2009 - January, Robbie Keane sold - no one brought in - we are rumoured to receive 12-15m.
2. 2009 - 2010 - Summer 2009, just finished second and we have approx 7 players leave and 3 brought in - appox net spend £0m.
3. 2009 - 2010 - January, Dossena & Vorinin leave for approx £6.5m and Maxi brought in on a free (prob cost us a £1.5m signing on fee though).
4. 2010 - 2011 - Summer - at least 5 players sold for approx £32m + at least 4 high earners gone on loan unlikely to return. 7 players brought in for approx £22m (+ likely signing on feews for J Cole & Jovanivic).

I think we need to look a bit further back than that mate. 2 words, GRAEME SOUNESS and I don't mean the playing side of him.

I have lost a lot of respect for Torres and patience is wearing thin. Should he decide to leave, his memory (for me anyway) will be of a moaning little wimp rather than a top-class striker!"

That is something that has happened since he has been with us. When he first came I was amazed at how little he complained as lumps wer being kicked out of him. Something has drastically affected his attitude and that 'something' I believe is promises the club have made to him which haven't been honoured.

He has a gripe at the moment with how things are going, I think he needs to be reminded that he has a big part in what is going on, lack of goals (how many has ngog got, weaker compettion alright but what about attitude, earning over 100tho a week surely self honour should make you try let alone your supposed love for the game Kop out springs to mind

Sharkey lad I don't rek Torres would be dislaiked in the slightest if he moved on unless he went to Man Utd. The lad is class an like Gerrard and Carragher deserve better for their talents. That being said you play to fight and we could bring in a few players should he go to boost the squad. The whole picture may be better without him. But I personally would never like to let a player of his calibre go especially with the efforts he has made for us.

I have seen a few posts saying carragher is past it. I also remember seeing a few saying sammi was past his best in his last season at us.

We do have prospects such as Wilson and Kelly but i don't think either are ready to be thrown in a the deep end just yet. Kelly is getting alot of games and could be ready for starts by next season. Wilson coming from SPL will take a bit longer to get upto speed.

I personally wouldn't drop Carra just yet, but i would play Agger along side him. The lad is a defender with aa bit of class, can play it out from the back, come forward with it, and it looks far better than Carra just playing 50 yard passes to no one.

Also seen alot of posts saying Roy to be sacked. . . 5 gamess in I don't think we really have the money to get rid off him if we wanted to. unless this is Hicks way of becoming sole owner, Manager and 2nd striker to Nando. (its not gonna happen)

WHATS WRONG WITH MOST OFF YOU GUYS, 75% OF YOU SEEM TO SLAG THE CLUB, PLAYERS, MANAGER OFF AT ANY CHANCE YOU GET, LEAVE IT TO THE PRESS OR THE MANC FANS TO DO THAT. . . .SOME POSTERS ARE TALKIN SENSE WITH THE GET BEHIND THE TEAM AND ROY, I TOTALLY AGREE, GIVE EM SOME CONFIDNCE FOR GOODS SAKE. IF ANY PLAYER DID READ THIS SITE THEN GEESE, IS IT ANY SURPRISE THEY AINT PLAYING THAT GREAT AT THE MO. THE WHOLE BRING RAFA BACK THING, I WAS ONE OF RAFAS BIGGEST FANS BUT HE IS GONE, ROY IS IN THE HOT SEAT, GIVE HIM ALL OUR SUPPORT AND WE WILL COME GOOD. CITY HAVE ALL THE MONEY THEY WANT BUT THEY ARE COUPLE A POINTS AHEAD THATS ALL. THEY AINT PLAYIN GREAT ATTACKIN FLOWING FOOTI ARE THEY? ? OH AND THERE OUT OF THE CARLING CUP ALSO. . . . THE POINT IS WE COULD HAVE NEW OWNERS WITH LOTS OF CASH BUT DOES NOT MEAN WE WILL WIN EVERY GAME. THE TEAM NEED SUPORT NOT SLAGGING OFF. ALL WE NEED TO DO IS GET BEHIND EM WIN OR LOSE AND WAIT, HAVE A BIT OF PATIENCE AND IT WILL ALL COME GOOD. P.S. Just a quick flash back for those that seem to be suffering from memory loss. Spurs were bottom of the league when Ramos was in charge, Harry came in a few signings later he's in the top 4. So for all those depressing dooms day nastradamous types, just chill out take your happy pills and support our club. I used to think we were the best fans in the world, some of you have made me doubt that recently.

well said mate , we are only five games in three of which were against good teams two defeats were away, so chill have faith and get behind the team, the players have to be feeling down because we are feeling down, and all were doing is putting needless pressure on roy and the players if we don't have confidence in the team how the hell do you expect torres and gerrard to have confidence in there team mates?

24 Sep 2010 10:16:27
Liverpool can only afford to lose 4 games this season, to have any chance of CL footbal next season, thats the target set for a top 4 finish, its not going to happen, lose more than 8 games no europa league football, this could happen, win a domestic cup, and you gauruntee europa cup next season, that leaves just the FA cup now, and its not even, the end of september, now we know why Torres wants to leave.International Rescue.

An interesting scenario is emerging regarding Fernando Torres. Reportedly not too happy that the club have let him down by not buying some players who were up to his standards, his agents/ representatives are again doing the rounds to see if somebody is interested in making Liverpool an attractive offer in January. So a question. All other players who hint at leaving or actually leave Liverpool become instant hate figures to the fans – rather like the owners and the coach. Mascherano and Kuyt are prime examples. Players who don't perform to the highest level consistently also become hate figures for the fans – Babel and Lucas to name but two. So how will the fans react to a player, who is by no stretch of the imagination performing well, and also wishes to seek success elsewhere? A hate figure before the weekend's game?

Sharkey.

"when has fernando torres ever been a hate figure?"

No one suggested he has been – the question was will he become one if he leaves.

"he never will be. . ."

Good, so he never will be a figure of hate.

"when he leaves us, unless its to another premier league side he won't be. ."

So he might be then. Ok.

"kuyt was never a hate figure. .when the talk of him leaving for inter milan happened, some fans got behind it saying this and that, he was never a hate figure, ever"

Read the posts from about a month ago – the archive is full of hatred for Kuyt once it looked likely he was to join up with RB in Milan.

". . mash is different to them, he made it clear he wanted to leave. . he was hated because we are a team that prouds itself on loyalty, he was not loyal. . ."

So the fans do hate players then.

"do you honestly ever think that nando would be booed playing for us?i always thought you were alright, but this crap certainly makes you on par with other crap talkers here. ."

Obviously you did not read my original post. I did not say I hated the player or the fans hated the player – I only asked the question to see if the fans would hate the player. You say they would not. Then of course you say that they might hate him.

Oh well.

Sharkey.

"Sharkey, your post regarding hate towards players is full of poor examples. Kuyt is not hated - he is just not rated by the fans as a right winger (rightly so)."

Kuyt is the best example given. If you go back about a month or so in the archives of this site, you will find the "breaking news" that Kut was interested in joining up with Rafa Benitez at Inter. Within minutes he had turned in to a figure of ridicule and hate. It is the perfect example of Liverpool fans turning on a player.

"If Torres leaves because the club have let him down by not fulfilling promises, fans may be a little bitter, but it has not come without warning - everyone knows if we as a club perform poorly this season, he is gone. If at January that looks likely, I think Liverpool will take a good offer for him - good business, but some fans won't see it that way - guaranteed."

I agree with this but still question the concept of "player power" - and not just Torres at Liverpool, but others. The club should not feel it necessary to make promises to any player about transfers. Holding the club to ransom like this is doing the same to the fans.

Sharkey.

When will it all end!how much more of this can you take?the club is imploding!surely footballs governing bodies should be looking into this farce, if only to make sure this never happens again, Liverpool may not even make the Europa league next season, and as things stand, the value of the club is rock bottom, Liverpool are only worth the value of the debt and not a penny more, Torres will leave, if that means selling to the highest bidder, then it must be done, if only to finance the start of a recovery, theres even some Mancs out there feeling sorry for Liverpool, it may take 3-5 years to make it back into the top four, it may take 3-5 years just to get back into the Europa league, the suppoters have to face reality, this is gonna be painful. Roy Hodgson being sacked. .r u kidding me

He is way better than Rafa who used negative tactics. One thing we have to look at now is the loss of Mascha and his boots r way bigger to fill. Poulsen and Meireles and Gerrard are just being tried in rotation to see which combi works out best.

Look at results, they r not bad - Arsenal v dropped 2 points for a mistake. Man City, u can imagine the team morale in the dressing room with Mascha's tnatrum. Then Birmingham is always tough. Man Utd we played a real terrible first half but the second was good and intentions were clear. In the games we dropped points, JOE COLE was suspended depriving us of a player to feed Torres.

Let us wait and watch against Sunderland at Anfield and then see the class of Hodgson. The most important thing about the manager is his honesty. U have to applaud the man for his post match conferences where he tells what he feels and does not make stories or statements to please the fans like RAFA did last season post March.

Hodgson is the man, we can already see the different football we play now than the last year.

"Losing touch with reality . . "

There's rumour and there's banter, plus a bit of rumour and then a bit more banter.
Then there are the unbelievable postings on here that pass as banter!
Are some of the posters aged between 11 and 13 and not really conversant with reality?
Do these posters think we are all bored senseless, sitting in the pub with half a cider and non-stop texting our so called 2, 874 mates on t* tBook or TubeFace?

I like a bit of football banter; I sometimes enjoy Adrian Durham on talkSPORT (or 'say something as controversial as possible Adrian to encourage people to call in so we make a good few bob on the phone calls') and a bit of Stan Collymore is fine. (Hate Ronnie - I need to say hello to EVERY guest even if they are not talking to me so they know I'm important and a boss presenter on the radio! - Irani, but when Brazil gets more than a word in that doesn't include "pal" or "mate" he can be sharp) . . BUT what passes for banter on here is sometimes frighteningly banal and stupid.

Try the: "here is what I think will be our bestest ever line-up if we get the money."

Reina
Lahm Carra Terry Cole
Turan Princess Diana Gerrard Messi
The Pope Torres Ronaldo

. . . and this is not far off some of the fanciful rubbish we read!

Try the: "when we get the £999,000,000,000,000 buyout from The Vatican Bank, then we can give the manager £600,000,000,000 to spend on players and . . ! ! ! ! ! !"

Or try the: "we are still the most famous, the most successful and most envied team in the whole history of football or of all time" (although nobody told me time had ended?).

This sort of babble and tosh I hear from the 12 year olds on the train and outside JJB Sports.
I just want to read a bit more of the intelligent stuff on here, the sort that people DO post about the finances, the management and the future.

I don't want to read about Roy Hodgson's supposed speech impediment (rude and not funny); I don't want to read about Shelvey as a fantasy lover for some bloke's missus (funny but a bit crude); nor do I want to read drivel about billions being given to a fantasy manager to spend on a dream team. That's for schoolboys and blokes of 27 who wear trackies and have mates 12 years younger because they can't stop thinking they are 'lads.'
If I wanted to read or listen to that sort of fantasy/ not going anywhere/ rubbish/ drivel/ not offensive ramblings I would either watch Match of The Day or talk to some 13 year old in Manchester or Sunderland!

More of the great postings and more banter that is informative and interesting please.

I think the fans of our great club need to come together a bit more. Been reading a lot of the aggressive and nasty comments being made on here in the recent past directed at both players and our new manager and I for one would like to say this is NOT the Liverpool way. The Southern press are loving the opportunity to report our imminent demise and our fans are getting caught up in the panic. Stay strong and get behind the team whether you agree with the current regime or not. Our job is to support. Be careful what you wish for people. . .!

Yonks will not lose the club to the banks, as thay will set up a quick fire sale to get rid and save face.Yonks will now take as little as £320m, give the banks £280m and walk away with £40m

A fan buyout is plausible, it has to be done via a credit union where fans invest their share, and the total invested is used to purchase the club, pay off any debt and provide additional funding for stadium, players etc.
A scheme has been set up by Save Liverpool, who have recently merged with SOS, and are fronted by finance professionals. I suggest that any fan interested visits the websites, subscribes to the mailing lists, and registers their interest in owning the club.
I think the current proposal is shares worth £500 each, max. 1 per person, 1 vote per share, with the club run in a similar way to Barcelona.
Can anyone provide links? Ed?

The problem I see at the moment is that we do not have a manager that inspires anyone or leads. When i looked a Roy on Wednesday all i could think of was "the Wolly with the Brolly" a man bereft of ideas or a plan B to get us out the mess.

For a Liverpool manager to tell us it's "a good point" away to Birmingham and then not stand up for El Nino when he was accused by Fergie of cheating makes me sick to my stomach - more interested in not upsetting his buddy than defending our players and club. We are supposed to be LIVERPOOL FC regardelss of who owns us we should still be out on the pitch fighting for what and who we are. Roy needs to stop trying to be so bloody diplomatic and come out fighting. Say something to get people going and inspire us to beleive not only in him but also in the team again. I had the feeling before the appointment that he was the wrong man and he has done nothing since to change my mind, regardless if its been such a short amount of time.

24 Sep 2010 05:27:30

Sharkey, your post regarding hate towards players is full of poor examples. Kuyt is not hated - he is just not rated by the fans as a right winger (rightly so). The fans know it's not his fault he is played out of position. Mascherano - the bitterness of some fans towards him stems from the way he went about leaving (having a whinge and refusing to play), not that he left. I wouldn't say that Babel is hated - most posts I've read seem to ask for him to be given a go up front as a striker. People still rate him but are resound to the fact he won't get a go as he is not a top class striker so are fine to see him sold. Lucas - this is a strange situation - whilst most fans don't rate the lad, the anger is more directed at the managers for selecting him, more-so than the player himself. If Torres leaves because the club have let him down by not fulfilling promises, fans may be a little bitter, but it has not come without warning - everyone knows if we as a club perform poorly this season, he is gone. If at January that looks likely, I think Liverpool will take a good offer for him - good business, but some fans won't see it that way - guaranteed - LIVERPRES

did any of you really think we would be top of the league now . . i didn't anyway, ?
be real. .we are 5 games in, we have had some tough games, roy hodgson is a top class coach, he is the best english manager around. arry' might be the best in some eyes but i think he's a w* ker. .

Lol!

Lucas has been one of Liverpool's best and most consistent player. Too even think he hasn't is idiotic and shows any lack of knowledge. His passing ability is very good, his tackling ability and intelligence to foul when need too is even more intelligent. He is easily the next Gilberto Silva but with a better attacking game in which he was actually an attack minded player before he joined Pool.

No rumours just reply to Sharkey. well done mate, I for one will be more than happy to donate/ buy whatever to save our beloved team. a little experience that I have regarding buying a company. it's true liverpool share is not public so you cannot just go and buy them, how ever if we fans unite and form a company under trusted management (I for one will nominate ed and the king) and collect the money than we can submit the offer. and to answer the ownership and fund is a simple one really, every company has stock owner, so we set a amount that we need to collect let say $ 1 billions : $ 10 than the management will issue 100 millions stocks that every fans can buy. to make sure it still owned by the fans no one can buy more than 10 stocks. ed please provide a page for this. and for Sharkey come out and take a bow mate, I'am Agus a proud fan from Indonesia.

24 Sep 2010 03:41:23

What about this for a team?

Reina

Johnson Carragher Shawcross Lahm

Cole Gerrard Meireles Turan

Torres Aguero

Total overhaul yes, but the big names - Turan, Lahm, Shawcross, Aguero - are all under 27 (only Lahm is over 22) and might not cost as much money as you'd initially think. If we get new owners, I'd like to see these players, plus Steven Defour as a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard, come into the club. All have been linked with LFC in the past.

24 Sep 2010 03:24:02

Reds lack creativity, guile, guts, that cutting edge that even teams like Sunderland, Birmingham, Newcastle and as we've seen Northampton even have! !

I thought Roy was very close to be spot on with his line up, however I said before the match Jonjo should have been in the starting 11 and Gerrard on the bench. .JUST IN CASE!

Do you think we need an overhaul? NO! Remove players who are not needed. 1. Babel (has not shown anything, even when given the chance in the Cup to show what he can do!) 2. Lucas (send him on loan. .why not?) and get A RIGHT and LEFT WINGER WITH ATTACKING PROWESS for goodness sake! What does Arda have to do to sell himself to Liverpool?? He's openly said that he wants in. . well. . .BUY HIM (sell Babel and Insua and even Plessis!)

I also heard that Guardado and Mata will available in January and both can cross and create havoc on the Left!. .I've been screaming for Malouda for years while at Lyon and look at him now. Being a Marseille fan as well, I've been screaming for Drogba and look at him now! Same with Defoe when at West Ham and Bent while at Charlton. .We should have gotten at least one of them and we would be! This 16th place makes all of us sick and Roy, Torres, StevieG and Co need to bring us back to the light. Forget all the ownership problems. WE WILL GET GREAT OWNERS, it's just taking awhile. Hate to say his name, but Fergie aint complaining about his owners and he's got problems, so lets forget the yanks and play FOOTBALL!

For those wishing rafa was still here - if that was the case, we would have:

- No Joe Cole
- No Raul Mereiles
- No Paul Konchesky
- No Steven Gerrard
- No Torres (possibly)
- Insua at starting LB
- Lucas starting every game
- No opportunity for youngsters
- Same boring negative tactics as LY
- 2 holding midfielders against every team
- a manager whinging about the owners
- no chance of winning anything

So to sum up, for some points we are no better off under Roy, but for many, we are much better off - i'll let you all decide. We are NOT worse off under Roy in my opinion - LIVERPRES

Unsigned threw up an encouraging post at 24 Sep 2010 01:02:51:

"(Firstly, you cannot be a trust and be floated on the stock market. Secondly, you cannot float a company for any amount that you like – a valuation has to be agreed. And the problem with a floatation of Liverpool is the value of the club. )

Im sure RBS could freeze the debit on the club, issue Debenture bonds for 400m to start building new 90'000 stadium for LFC that would secure the clubs future earnings frm casino, shopping complex, youth development + scouting ect. From the frozen debit money we could pay the reasonable Bond rates. (New Owner. philanthropist could do this)

Then RBS could float the whole lfc on London Stock Exchange for 700million and let the fans purchase a share in the club. 400m + 300 = 700m valuation.

(is certainly not something that RBS could or would do)

considering RBS is owned by the goverment, i believe they should have some kind of social responibility towards lfc. It can't all about getting your money asap. New Owners, philanthropist could do this for the club they loved. It can't all be about ownership

(problems would still remain about how to pay for a new stadium and how to pay for any new players. Effectively the club would need to pay for those matters from profits)

Well if LFC has a new 90'000 stadium build, casino, shopping complex. it will be able to substain itself as a business. Player purchases will be only those that the club can afford to purchase. Well clubs should live within their means.

Investing in youth + scouting and a policy of purchasing would secure the clubs future from reckless 100m player purchases.

(As soon as money was borrowed to pay for the stadium, the effective value of the stock holders' shares falls - but it would obviously come back over time. You would also find that large institutions would own the bulk of the shares and they will be against any borrowing that cannot be repaid in the short-term).

This would be the beauty of LFC being owned by share holders, pension funds. They hate risk and we would get ride of this culture of risky borrowing at lfc."

Good for you - and I really do hope it comes true. Perhaps a floatation for the future is a real option, and I think it is. The rest, perhaps over the longer term, but some how I doubt it. The neat thing is you are being positive - and I think that it what the club needs. A fresh outlook with the fans behind the coach and players. Get off this hate trip and maybe the team can sort themselves out.

Sharkey.

Quality player, but I am just not sure him, or Navas for that matter, would fit in well. I think Joaquin, especially now he is back in form, would be a much better player for the Prem.}
