Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

24 Oct 2010 23:55:10

We should not need to buy big names. big names cost too much and its always a gamble whether or not they fit into the team. we should be looking hard for raw untapped talent and developing the player to become a big name. right now we have a great starting 11, albeit with some confident issues, so we don't really need another superstar, just a kick up the arse and a reshape, bleed the youth through and we're sweet. just a couple of examples, wigan, palacios and valencia, dirt cheap, went for massive profit. manure, hernandez, again, cheap as chips but a smashing wee player, going by transfers right now, hed be worth a fortune in a couple of years

50 mill for Tores? I'd take it and run.

I'd also take 50 mill for Torres and run too.

Whatever you all think of Hodgson he's at the greatest club in the world so get behind him give him some time, then we shall judge him! !

P.S please sign Banega he's f* k*ng class!

24 Oct 2010 23:25:08

Maxi was great today, he was a menace and showed how good he can be when he applied himself.

Hopefully he will play like that more often and proove that he is a quality player that can suprise everyone just like luis Garcia.

The greek was also good today.

I think we should give hodgeson til mid december to prove himself. today we created loads it could of been 5-0 but for robbo. hodgeson has gone bk to rafas way of gerrard of torres not cole and it worked. Although not amazing maxi had made a huge improvement on last week. and meirles looks brill he helps lucas and gerrard perfeclty. u all say hodgson can't attract good players well sorry look at meirles and cole 2 great signigs with proven quality he never got a striker coz he couldnt bayern blocked gomez west ham blocked cole as did spurs wiv pav. and at the end of the day i would rather have average players getting results than world class players off form. give roy a break sure i wouldn't of appointed him personaly but lfc looked a new side toda even without johnson and kugt.
the reason aqua left was coz he is S* *E as was dosena voronin u name em all s* t. poulsen isalsso bad but how was roy suposed to know? he has worked wiv him b 4 so he knows he must have somthing.
have trust in roy and lfc

You made a few spelling mistakes:-

Wow liverpool battered blackburn, the rest of the premier league are shaking in their boots. Face it your glory days are COMING BACK SOON, Gerard has many more seasons in him, and Tores! well he is well worth more than 50 million!
roll on top of the table for liverpool. EASILY

And sorry i attacked Liverpool i am just SO fed up of living in your shadow it's made me deeply BITTER so i have to come on your pages to try and attack you to make myself feel stonger because i am weak!

Yes, why is it that all those that were calling for Roys head yesterday are now backing him to the hilt after one good performance against an under strength blackburn side who have only one once at anfield in about 25 years.

This is one of those games that's a home banker, bit like west ham, we'll defo win against them as well next month.

24 Oct 2010 23:03:27

Just watched MOTD and we looked so much better. Positive football will always get you results. OK we need some new faces but we do have quality, from Reina all the way up to Torres; Reina, Agger, Johnson, Meireles, Gerrard and Torres would get into most teams in the world. A left back, centre back, two wingers and a striker would make our team very dangerous. Hopefully our owners know this, and will put their hands in their pockets!

24 Oct 2010 23:02:19

Will the RAFA bridage just F-Off now and support Inter if your all so in love with him you old love birds.
The future is ahead of us and doesn't involve him regardless of who the manager is.

24 Oct 2010 23:00:58

The greek played well and should be in the starting line up in future. The guy defends well and is a good threat up front, best defender upfront since Hypia. Kelly RB and Jonson should play RM

New owners should open academy in usa call it Liverpool fc usa and any good ones get sent over to us and play in our academy that way with new rules they count as English

To the person who said this :-

What a pathetic, fickle bunch most of you are, all of a sudden its "lets all get behind Roy" yesterday was all about how soon we could get him out.
One half decent result does not change a thing, we are still in the bottom 3 and as a team we do not have a devine right to always be in the "big four".We still do not have the right manager to take us forward and to be honest his words of "here for the long haul" filled me with dread. If you are happy with mediocre possible signings of the likes of Carlton Cole then so be it, you are all entitled to your views and opinions, but this is Liverpool F.C, not Fulham or Stoke or any other mid-table team(no offence to them). We need a manager who can secure the services of our major players and who can encourage the services of other world class signings, Roy is not that manager.

Joe Fagan ( Triple winner in 1984 ) 11 points in 11 games - have you been a supporter for 5 minutes? Hodgson is still here - so is Torres, Gerrard, Reina and all the others, no one has left yet - rumours ( uncorroborated of course ) say they are all unhappy with Roy Hodgson. Let's see on January 1st - and by the way I really don't believe Hodgson is up to the job - but I'm a realist - I cannot see anyone who knows what the EPL is all about and available -and please don't say Ryjkaard, Pellegrini - and all the other failed European managers. This is the Einglish football, with English mentality.

John

Regarding the Joe Fagan thing, 11 points from 11 games apparently. . . .Smokin' Joe was Liverpool through and through(Roy Evans apart, he was the last of the bootroom boys) What Joe didn't know about the club wasn't worth knowing. . . can u say the same about Roy?. . . I don't think so! !

A question for the earlier post? - What top football club is owned by FOOTBALL PEOPLE?

Chelsea - a Russian Oligarch
Arsenal - American and Russian major shareholders ( I think )
Scum - Glazers
City - an Arab Sheikh
Spuds - American Businessman
Villa - another bloody bunch of Yanks
the list goes on

At least our new owners are the sports team ownership business.

A certain breed of liverpool fan has become obsessed with the exotic, Frank Rijkaard is a bigger gamble than Hodgson was. .as is dalglish. .football has moved on it is more like a game of chess now. .get rafa back, everytime he spent big he got it right

Please god no. . . .u think woy is in the same class tactically as Rafa and Rijkaard. . . wot have u been smoking?

24 Oct 2010 21:59:25

I listened to 5Live commentary of the game today. Before we all get carriedaway, our hero and legend Jan MOlby who was commentating, stated at the end that he thought it will be a long and difficult season for us and worryingly added that we will have to fight and battle for every single point.

There is still a long way to go-lets hope today is the start of that journey!

I am one who does not feel kelly is good enough for Liverpool FC. Was shocking against Northampton Town, imagine what Prem players will do to him.

id say you are like all players he needs more time in the frist team to muture

He may have been "shocking" against Northampton but he more than made up for it away to Napoli.

He was up against 3 so called world class players i.e Cavani, Hamsik and Lavezzi. Especially Hamsik who had to be substituted in the 2nd half as he and the rest wern't testing young Kelly at all. And remember his natural position is centre back.

In short mate i don't think you know what you're talking about as i think that Kelly is a better RB than Johnson who cost £17 mill.

Roy Hodgson: "I understand Rijkaard has just been sacked from Galatasaray - he must be a great manager to have been sacked by Galatasaray. What you are talking about is Frank Rijkaard's agent who is putting his name around. It's all speculation. I had two and a half years of that kind of thing at Inter Milan when every day there would be stuff in the newspapers that someone was going to get my job."

signed Roy Hodgson (won a game)

Hi ed, what did you think about todays game?

Starting line-up
o J. Reina
o J. Carragher
o S. Kyrgiakos
o M. Škrtel
o P. Konchesky
o Lucas
o Raul Meireles
o M. Rodríguez
o J. Cole
o S. Gerrard
o F. Torres
{Editor's note - It was a brilliant result. Let's hope it kick starts Liverpools season}

24 Oct 2010 21:42:54

For all your RAFA lovers - another great performance from Mourinhos all conquering team under him - oops a 1-1 draw at home to Sampdoria - his reputation is certainly following him - in his last year at Milan.

24 Oct 2010 20:57:59

Hello ed i would like to say what one good game can do for the confidence, if woy could of got them playing like that against every one i don't think he would have a problem but i think the damage has been done and i think the incident that happened with carra and torres was more to do with the performance than roy , his signing except meireles who i think is a real player konchesky and poulsen will never cut it in a liverpool shirt to very poor players who would struggle to get in most teams in then prem , konchesky is a accident waiting to happen and lucas is a much better player than poulsen and i was made up for lucas today as he had a very good first half even though i will be giving him lots of stick next week no dought hope not but probally will. meireles was my man of the match today never stopped and impresses me more and more every week. i would of rather bought a left back for the money from konchesky and poulsen

24 Oct 2010 20:49:15

Lets not get too excited about result as it is only manure reserves br but look at the performance, t'was alot more intense, we closed down quicker, more energy, didn't drop too deep all the time and used the width better. . .these were all any man could see needed to be done so Roy still needs to go as the replacement can see what they have and try using there methods on certain players to see if they're just playing in wrong positions, then he'll beable to make better judgement on transfers (if any) in Jan as i wouldn't trust Roys. . . sorry nice bloke and all that but wrong man for l.f.c

I want to see our too young spaniards on the pitch more often. I think both could do a job for us. My idea is to set them on each side of Torres. Suso is left footed and could play a RF role similar to what Messi does for Barca while the right footed Pacheco does the same thing on the opposite side. I think with this three headed attack we could play some very nice stuff and both Torres and Gerrard would be well supplied. This is how it would look:
- - - - - - - - - - - -Reina- - - - - - - - - - - -
Johnson- - - - - -Kelly- - -Agger- - - -Konchesky
- - - - - - - -Mereiles- - -Lucas/ Shelvey- - - - -
- - - - - - - - - - - Gerrard- - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - Suso- - - - - - - Pacheco- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Torres- - - - - - - - - - -
If either of them is not quite up to it yet then Joe Cole can fill in on either side but I think if they are given the chance then they will shine. We have two of the most talented young players on the planet as is evident from Pacheco's performances with his U21 side this summer but we let them go to waste. What do you guys think?

Would like to see this

Reina

Torres

24 Oct 2010 20:44:41

Very happy with the performance tonight, however let's not forget it was only our 2nd goal from open play in the league all season. We still need some flair and creativity.
IMO in order of importance we need; striker, left wing, right wing, left back, centre mid.

To fill those positions we should be targeting 1 of the following from each position;
Striker; Llorente, Lukaku, Suarez, Aguero
Left wing; Turan, Young, Capel, Dzsudzsak, Hulk, Mata
Right wing; Turan, Young, Wijnaldum, Sanchez
Left back; Taiwo, Cissokho, Coentrao, Marcelo

OUT- Babel £8mil, Kuyt £10mil, Poulsen £3.5mil, Konchesky £4mil, Jovanovic £5mil, Aquilani £13mil
Total: £43.5mil

IN- Taiwo £8mil, Llorente £20mil, Turan £14mil, Sanchez £18mil
Total: £60mil

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Taiwo
Sanchez Gerrard Meireles Turan
Llorente Torres

Jones, Kelly, Aurelio, Carra, Kyrgi, Wilson, Maxi, Lucas, Shelvey, Cole, Pacheco, Ngog

Only watched the first 30 mins, and given that time, it's the first time in a long time I've been disappointed with a 2-1 victory, simply because i think we deserved more. If you had offered me a 2-1 win yesterday i would have bitten your hand off, but we should have won 4 or 5 nil if not for another crap goalie finding his form against us. grinning from ear to ear today about the 3 points, it's looking good my friends.

24 Oct 2010 19:03:54

Although it would have been nicer of course to score a couple more, there is nothing like a win, no matter what the result was. Next week hopefully we can beat Bolton, and I would definately take 1-0. Two straight wins before Chelsea, and the crowd behind the team, and anything is possible. Look what we did at Man U AWAY, even if we didn't win.

Well done Nando today, we are all behind you, you are best striker in the world, and we will get you another quality striker to support you!

And fans, remember the lines;

They say our days our numbered, we're not famous anymore,
But scousers rule the country like we've always done before!

Time for roy is running out,
leaving fans in pain and doubt,
the hicks and gillett curse is gone,
but roy you seem to amble on,
your clueless look,
and aimless stare,
on match day you should not be there,
in LFC you do not fit,
so do the decent thing and quit.

But stay you will, until your sacked,
as we the Reds fall further back.
Shanks, Sir Bob look down in shame,
but is it really you to blame?
I am sure you've also done your part, to break our team, and break our hearts;
Theres more then enough blame to go round, at Anfield our most hollowed ground.

Weakness shown, tempers flare, but that won't get us anywhere. It's time to fix things that are broken, and it has to be more then mere words spoken.
For deeds are stronger then words you see;

we are one we are L.F.C.

What is going on in Roy's head? He's asking for time and he's asking for fans to get behind the team, but he's not doing anything to help himself. Is he trying to get fired?

This is basically the team that has failed to deliver from the start of the season. .change it up Roy! Carragher at right back? Maxi on the pitch? Lucas as an anchorman?

I hope they prove me wrong today. . . but my word am I pissed off!

Connor wickham will not join liverpool in a cut price deal just cause he supports them! gareth bale was a gooner so why didn't he join them! and the so called carp uouth team players you mentioned would probably make your 1st team on a regular basis considering the carp that you have at the moment! townsend will without doubt become an oustanding player who has already attracted the attentions of man utd and chelsea but with the lad a season ticket holder (family) hr won't go! so if were talking carp youth then look no further than your own jj shelvey! chelsea, arsenal, west ham qpr with their money and spurs all looked and turned him down! now if he's looking good at the drool the rest of your team must be shocking!

I have to say one thing. . Being a Red that Lives down South, I would do anything to have the opportunity to go to Anfield and cheer our team on, and im pretty sure there are 1000s like me. but there are 40,000 that are lucky enuff to go every match and its up to you to scream, shout and sing and make Anfield the fortress it used to be! . Weve had a couple of rough years with protests taking over but now is the time to get behind the team regardless of how bad they are playing, regardless of what we think of the manager, You have to show them that we are still there, we are still expecting and we are still proud of Liverpool FC!. maybe then they will remember too and kick start this season, You have to do it for all of us that are not lucky enough to be there with you! Sing up Kop! Sing up!

I reckon the Reds are only a few signings away from having a half decent team. In Jan if we got a quality wide man and a striker we'd be a different proposition. The rest of the playing staff additions can come in time, but we do have most of the parts already. NESV will provide the funds for some transfers, as nobody would plan a takeover of that size without the necessary plan in place to improve the business. I see a lot of similarities to Spurs when Harry came in and changed them round. Is Roy the man to do it? Can he attract the players with LFC in the position it's in? Doubtful. He's been very naive so far and he won't get the time to put it right - the hysteria in the media has started and that can't be stopped now. Let's give it to a foreigner, who has a good track record and can't speak that much English - it's the only way they get some time. Someone posted on here saying Brian barwick to be next CEO - will Capello be following him lol ?!?

Me - i thought u said johnson was happy?
my friend - he is
me - that's not what the papers say. .
my friend - . because the papers are always right!
me - yeah, appreciated, but how can u b sure have you spoken to him?
my friend - mate, i spoke to him like a week ago, im not gonna ring him again its total bulls* t. They reckon he wants to go abroad! It's c* p he loves liverpool. If you're looking for someone that's unhappy its probably agger, and its only because he hasnt played much, not cos he wants to leave. . . (conversation moves to other subjects. )

conversation i just had this morning. Admittedly my friend isn't nostradamus, and he isn't actually johnson either, but il take his word and judgement of johnson's psyche over the press' any day of the week. Duckula

"24 Oct 2010 10:10:43

Editor I hope you don't post this out, i am from singapore and get to know Pepe Reina when Liverpool squad tour singapore few yrs ago. We keep in contact once in awhile online (Msn) and i can confirm Reina is clearly unhappy with the situation and want to leave. He don't want to specify in detail but mentioned too many changes for his dislike, not playing to his strength and he think he being lied.

What do you mean not playing to his strengths! He's a goalkeeper for god's sake, he saves the ball, and he does it brilliantly.
Oh by the way, he has another 5+ years on his contract. .
Sooty"

Reina's game is much more than simply saving shots. His quick distribution has set up many goals and his willingness to come out and clear has meant our defence can push further up the field. Both have been apparently curbed under Hodgson.

24 Oct 2010 11:31:22

I keep reading that Frank Rijkaard was sacked by Gala, but as far as I can see he quit. Maybe there is something in this. I think come Monday morning he will be our new manager win lose or draw. I'm hoping anyway can't be any worse.

24 Oct 2010 11:22:02

Hello ed and fellow liverpool supporters, once again players unrest, tension in the changing room, players wanting to leave. . . Well what can I say? These people have lost every bit of honour and respect for each other. Like I have said on here before on this site, if you want to leave then go. We don't want or need people like you. It should be a privilege to play football and even more so if you are good and lucky enough to play for liverpool fc. What do all you think about my views?

24 Oct 2010 11:16:39

I really want to back Roy - I really do - so I'm giving him one more chance to get it right. And I'm going to make it as easy for him as possible.
After all the recent poor games, Roy, you can have one more to prove yourself to me as worthy of managing Liverpool.
It is at Anfield. There are no major injury worries to compromise your team selection. It is played on the euphoric wave of the recent takeover. It is against a struggling team (one place above us) who's manager is synonymous with long-ball philosophy (so no major tactical battles). And you have a team of internationals who have been laughed at by the media (and Evertonians) and have a lot to prove. Oh. .if you need any extra motivation, your neck is on the block, we're in the relegation zone and you have made the worst start in god knows how many years.
Prove us wrong, Roy, please. We know you have the experience, and there's a serious lack of quality managers to replace you. . but please show us the reason so many top level people backed you for this job as we haven't seen a peep of your abilities so far.
Now a win against Blackburn shouldn't be too hard, should it?i think many feel like you do mate, we'd all love hodgson to turn it around, to suddenly find a 'magic' ingrediant. But i don't think you or any of us 'hopefulls' will even get to kick-off before our faith is lost. This is due to the fact that the team sheet will be public knowledge by then and carragher will be playing right back because it would be "unfair" to play someone else! Hodgsonhas shown his intent. Every time he has had the chance to pick from a pretty much full strength squad his selection and tactics have been rubbish! What's that saying; 'a leopard doesn't change it's spots'. We should only support a manager if we believe in what he is attempting. I don't believe in his selections, his tactics, his methods and above all his reasoning and so i don't believe in the man and i want him gone.

I also think that any manager who comes in should have to contractually agree to their desired formation and tactics. So if they say 'total football' then come in and just revert to hodgson-esque rubbish then we can sack them without financial reprimand. (ok this last bit is ludicrous and would/ should never happen, but it's just a reaction to how frustrated i am!).

I see this match going only 2 ways:

1) a win equivilant to our west brom victory. After which hodgson says how important the victory was against an 'oranised' and 'tough' opponent and that we can now build on this win and go on a good run, yada yada yada. Or

2) not a victory! after which hodgson talks about how we continue to improve in our play and how we created more the 2nd half (obviously) and how we need to stick together, yada yada yada

What Roy should do is call in Reina, Johnson and Torres and show them their contracts. He should ask them straight out if they intend to honour those contracts and if so to endorse them. If they do not wish to HONOUR their own signatures they should be removed from the first team set-up immediately. None of them have performed particularly well this season anyway but the manager appears to b afraid to drop any player with a name. I've said it before if there are any players that are not going to be good enough in January they are not good enough NOW and should also be dropped. We have complained for years that no-one has come through the academy - that is because they have never been given a chance. It's time that we had someone with GUTS at Liverpool.

Right can all the people that keep saying aguro please stop the only reason for us buying aguero will be if torres leaves. i watch a lot of spanish footy and aguero is to similar to torres running channels etc and two player making the same runs will not be good we need a striker to compliment torres ie a poacher. if your gonna waste that sort of money higuain would be better or even bent who will be in the the box more often than not.

24 Oct 2010 11:02:18

Editor - I am hearing reports that Pepe Reina, Torres & Johnson are all angling for a move out of Liverpool in January, apparently there is no team morale.

Why would they be so unhappy after a takeover? Do you think they have been told that there will be no money made available? Personally i cannot understand why they want out right now? Have they been tapped up?

It is true, all 3 have contacted agents regarding moves away. Other players are not happy with the team set up/ tactics/ training methods etc. This was from a VERY GOOD scource last Wednesday. If something doesn't happen shortly then i am afraid that there will be a mass exodus of players that we DO NOT want to move away. - - Very disheartened red who has supported the club since 1971.

. . . . i take it by "I'm hearing, " and "This was from a VERY GOOD scource ( i take it you mean't source). . .
That what you actually mean't was you've read today's papers?

I don, t bother with the newspapers. full of sh$$e. I can only tell what i know. these are the facts not rumours or speculation. the truth will come out and i don, t care if anyone refuses to believe them. I am saddened that the "leaks" are coming from squad members but such is life nowadays. It was allways kept inside the club years ago but not any longer. goodbye

Hi ed, posted before but never mentioned how much i enjoy reading this site, good work mate!

i am praying for a win today, just hope we can do it, you can only hope that 3 points today will lead to a boost in confidence to get a win next week, id be happy with a draw against chelski after that.
as for roy i feel sorry for him, he was never the right man, and his career is effectivley over if he gets the boot from us. but never the less, we as lfc fans are somewhat sentimental and we have to realise, if we don't get minimum 7 points from next 3 games, he has to go.
i cannot see even with the funds who we can sign who will make the desired inpact. i think the answer lies within a good upbeat attacking manager, who can change the shape of our team. i can't think of a manager who could come in and do the job, i'll get slated no doubt for this, but roy should get keegan in for a few weeks at melwood and work on attacking, lets be fair, it is his one strong point. with roys unambitious tactics, we need a shot of adrenalin going forward. just to see how it goes. no immediate sack and more bad press for liverpool. we gotta try something. .

the only realistic man who can come in and not be under pressure would be pellegrini, the guy who ran madrid. i believe he'd make us more appealing to watch, could bring in a few exciting players, but ultimatley i don't see this guy delivering a title. sadly, i don't see anyone bringing us a title except for mourinho, but that is a longshot.

as for players, maxi / the greek / konchesky / lucas / poulson / jova are not liverpool players. i don't want to over quote all the names mentioned on this site, as i think we are dreaming and there are not any great english players knocking about for real money. although you would think that NESV will want to make a marquee signing. . AGUERO would be my dream acquistion but i doubt very much

some players id like to see (obviously not all):

ARDA TURAN
CHRIS BRUNT
KEVIN DOYLE
AFFELAY
BENZEMA
LLORENTE
AGUERO

my team for jan

gk REINA

rb KELLY
cb CARRA
cb AGGER
lb WILSON

rw JOHNSON / AFFELAY
cm GERRARD
cm MERAILES / SHELVEY
lw TURAN / BRUNT

st TORRES
st DOYLE / BENZEMA

subs
jones
kuyt
skrtel
joe cole
pacheco
suso
plus the either or's above

it should be flat back 4
shelvey / merailes box to box, living in the centre circle
gerrard occupying a free role when in possesion and without possesion, dropping back in, don't want to see him dropping 50yds to get the ball and making a forward pass.
torres and another a standard front 2. if turan and johnson / affelay are playing on the wings, and i mean wingers to the line and cross with 2 players in the box, surely we can score more goals. theres never anyone in the box, torres comes wide to get the ball and nobody in there at the moment, its bobbins and negative. if 2 in the box its something to aim for, and gerrard picking up any scraps 20yds out with his typical stevie g wonder strikes.
we have one of the best keepers in the world. reina is a reliable keeper. a consistant back 4 will mould together with reina creating a strong defensive unit. and the central midfielder, whether its shelvey or merailes they would create a solid back 6 and then 5 for attacking.

id like to know everyones thought on this. if we are going to draw or lose like the rut we are in at the moment, id sooner see us go down in glory attacking. take the brazilian approach, you score 3 we'll score 4, anyways that's my opinion.

hope we can turn it round soon. cmon redmen! !

Ed do you think the owners have something up their sleeves regarding the managerial issue and they haven't tell roy about it yet? because roy seems so confident that he's gonna be here for a long haul. pity him T_T

{Editor's Note: There will not be any conspiracies.}

24 Oct 2010 10:33:39

Surely it is the board that appoint a new manager and at the moment we do not have a board!
Sadly this means Roy will be with us longer than I had hoped.I just hope the new board have the sense to react quickly. No matter what happens today I do not believe Roy can ever turn things around. The morale at the club seems to be just far to low.
A new manager will have his hands full lifting the morale of players and staff to where it needs to be so they had better choose someone with a positive outlook and do it s.a.p.

Over the last few weeks every game is a judgment game for Hodgson according to this site.
It took 5 years for Benitez to get negative press while it's only took 3 months for Hodgson.
It took 6years for Benitez to start to get 55% of fans against him while Hodgson has already got 80% of fans against him in just 3months.
It took Benitez 6years to lose the dressing room yet Hodgson has managed this in only 3months.
Benitez had war of words with Ferguson while Hodgson is Fergusons friend.
Fulham are playing better football under Hughes and seem organised yet after a decent cup run with Hodgson you fans wanted him. Hang your head in shame those who wanted him

24 Oct 2010 09:43:43

Today is judgement day for roy, not only does he have to win to keep his job, but also the team will have to play well to convince the owners he can turn things around. if not then he will be asked to resign in the morning, roy has came out and said that he won't quit so nesv will have to terminate his contract! hiddink will be put in place to manage the team untill the end of the season. nesv will go all out to get jose mourinho, and will offer him a huge 3 year contract and 100m to spend to come in a do what he has done at every club he has managed, build a winning team in a short amount of time.

24 Oct 2010 09:25:25

Roy is the only person to blame for this mess. The owner situation should not effect the players and is resolved now so no excuses. Our team is the same as last season minus Mascherano! These players are internationals and good individual players. Roy plays too cautious and worries about losing, but this is leaving us sitting too far back and letting the opposition pile on pressure.
He needs to stop sticking with the same players and play people in their right positions!
The teAM today will be
reina
carra
Greek
skrtl
konch
Lucas
mireles
maxi
cole
gerrard
torres

maxi, Lucas, Greek should be dropped and replaced with jova, shelvey and Kelly! We need pace, youth and flair

24 Oct 2010 09:20:02

I have lost all respect for Hodgson now. His swipe at Rikjaards ability and agent is not what we expect from a liverpool manager! At this time he should be focusing all his efforts on improving the style of play and results and team morale, not trying to save his job by discrediting others and defending his past record! Prove it on the pitch because so far you havent!

{Editor's Note: Interestingly, a few days ago Roy Hodgson was being trashed by the fans for not taking a swipe at Sir Alec Ferguson for talking about Torres - so whatever happens, half of the fans are not going to be satisfied.}

24 Oct 2010 08:59:47
Riena has said to the owners he does not want the 68 year old pensioner going through his training regime hogson put this dude incharge and Riena is fuming, Johnson can go what a waste of money, Torres is not even intrested anymore he looks like his already going i blame hogson for everything his taken my club and wrecked the team morale i say let blackburn beat us so he gets sacked then get Donadoni, or Hiddink even Hiddink part time could do a better job then hogson he is useless his signings are poor he can't take a draw away to Napoli and say that's a brilliant result if we loose today it will be to much pressure on the owners he has to walk on

24 Oct 2010 06:51:50

I keep hearing that Andy Carroll is on top of Liverpool's agender come January. Have you heard anything Ed?
Also that Reina ( United/ Arsenal target), Torres ( Barcelona/ Inter target) and Johnston ( Real Madrid/ AC Milan target) are all considering a January move away from Liverpool. I know our policy is " if they want to move then move" but surely not these players! It seems under Hodgson negativity is getting worse. What do we do?

{Editor's Note: Andy Carroll will not be on anyone's agenda until his off-fieldd antics are resolved.}

24 Oct 2010 06:46:08

Alot is being written in the papers at the moment about players unrest and in fighting (what a surprise the papers with negative liverpool stories) the fact is we are on a bad run and confidence is low bringing more pressure on the players. Any sort of win today and hopefully a goal for torres will be a massive lift, follow with a win next week and we will be mid table and looking at the teams above. I don't think hodgson is the right man but while he is there we have to get behind the team and do what we can to help witch is support and cheer them on. Im not enjoying being a liverpool fan right now but that is what i am and what i always will be. So come on 3 points today and lets see where we are at Christmas.

24 Oct 2010 03:16:33

Well doesn't look like Roy's resigning any time soon, and to be honest I am frightened by his "in in for the long haul" comment, frightened about the state he will eventually and inevitabally leave the club in.
A lot of people are calling for a Mr Frank Rijkaard. He's perfect in a business sense. There's no compensation to be agreed with and we don't have to go through certain channels to speak to the guy. His style of play is good as well, as we need to be attacking teams. However, I am surprised no-one has threw Roberto Di Matteo's name into the hat. The guy has took over West Brom and done what Tony Mowbray, Bryan Robson and Gary Megson failed to do; get them playing football. They were known as "the Arsenal of the Championship" as they play a lovely passing, attacking, fluent game and has taken a very mediocre side into the top 4, pending results later today. He's already achieved great results with a win over Arsenal and a draw against Man Utd and would be a lively character in the dressing room. Compensation wouldn't be too much of an issue as WBA aren't exactly the richest team, a few million ought to be enough and no doubt RDM would take the job and be up to the challenge.

I'm gonna say something that I never thought Id ever have to say in my life, and I am ready to be told off for saying it. . But I think i actually want us to lose to Blackburn today! ! . . . I say this cos I think this is the only way the board will act now in getting rid of Roy rather than letting him totally destroy us all the way through to january when we'll be so heck*d everyone will want out and no one worthy will want to take us over! !. .I swear Ed. I'm fealling so scared about what Roy is doing to the team, and all todays reports about Torres not getting on with Roy and Reina being unhappy cos Roy has appointed a 68 year old to lead first team training are breaking my heart. .They're saying this 68 year old actually takes one on one training with Reina! . .Imagine that!?!?. . . I'm trying to figure out if I'm more worried now or when we were in court with Hicks?!. .I really don't know! SI

I think this are the cliques in the first team right now

Want Roy Out: Reina, Agger, Torres, Kuyt, Jovanovic

Supporting Roy: Carra, Gerrard, Konch, Johnson, Cole(English players)

Caught in between: Skrtel, Greek, Poulsen, Lucas, Meireles, Babel, Ngog, Youth Players, Maxi

I find the support Roy is receiving from other managers quite amusing. Its a given most of them know their football so surely they can all see Roy isn't up to the job with the squad at LFC? . Therefore would it be fair to say they hope he stays on and Liverpool go down? A healthy vibrant LFC with possibly a bit of cash to invest is just too much competition. My distorted view is they know NESV look good for the fight and with a core nucleus of talent already there (if they stay) and a few quality additions plus a savvy manager. (and its all a realistic possibility) there's no telling what damage we could do. I doubt all the other managers are that twisted but you have to be a little cynical thesedays. For what its worth. . It is Roy's fault. Nobody is happy. They weren't that unhappy at the start of the season. They weren't that unhappy under H&G and Rafa. What's different? Yep. Roy. And I like him. In some respects I find the whole affair quite sad for him and the club. On the other hand maybe Roy is cunning and a bit more ruthless than we think. Should our sympathies be kept in check? He's been around. He knows the s* t that can go down at this level. Maybe he just had a look at the permutations and took a punt to see if he had the minerals. It works. great and I'm getting paid handsomely. It doesn't work. blame the owners blame Rafa, take the 3 million, chill out, enjoy the cash and time off, wait to see what happens at the end of Euro 2012. He has proved he can do it in Europe so I think he might do well with England. I'd have to respect him if that was his thinking.

Managers get sacked all the time. its the nature of game. Managers live and die by instant results. Its easier to sack a manager than 11 players

RE: Pepe Reina, Torres & Johnson are all angling for a move out of Liverpool

Anfield is turning into a career killer for world class talent. I don't blame them for wanting out. The best want to play with the best so sponsorship deals still flow their may.

It was going to happen. I thought the new owners would of put big statement out about buying players. or gotten a manager in of world class standing.

Roy Hodgson was at the Bolton game today to prepare for our match against them next week.
I've got a copy of his notes:

~Playing style:
defensive, counter attacking, rely heavily on set pieces.
~How to play against them:
Sit even deeper than them, but leave Torres up front alone, isolated, so he has no support and has to take on the back 4 by himself. Play Skrtel and Kyrgiakos at centre back so Bolton get lots of free kicks from their clumsiness.

~Key Players:
Martin Petrov (LM) - Great crosser and fast - Glen Johnson to bomb upfield and not get back, Kyrgiakos and/ or Skrtel to come across and make a rash challenge to stop him
Johan Elmander - Strong and good in air, with some pace - Torres to mark from corners.
Kevin Davies - Very Strong and good in the air - Joe Cole to mark from corners.

~What to tell the media when we:
Lose - Bolton are a great team. I don't think anyone could have expected us to beat Bolton at The Reebok. There are a lot of positives to take from this, it was a good performance. Torres is almost fully fit and will start scoring again soon, if I don't sell him to my good friend Alex before then.
Draw - It's an excellent result for the team, we're improving every week. It's a dream come true to come to Bolton and earn a point.
Win - N/ A

At the bottom there is a picture of a heart with "R.H 4 S.A.F" written in it.

This is what Uncle Roy came out with yesterday. . .

"Rijkaard has just been sacked from Galatasaray - he must be a great manager to have been sacked by Galatasaray! What you are talking about is Frank Rijkaard's agent putting his name around. It is all speculation."

This coming from a man whos club is in the bottom 3 and got Blackburn relegated shortly after he got the sack!.

The mans arrogance is starting to p*ss me off to be honest.

When was the last time u won the Champions league then Roy? ?. . .

24 Oct 2010 00:05:24

I'm not being flippant, but does anyone else think the pressure of the job has turned Hodgson slightly unstable? The statement after the derby was that of a man at odds with reality and his willing inability to fend off a question about Torres to Utd was just weird. In the past couple of days we've had an assertion that the owners back him all the way which smacks of cheap politicking, and his latest, a bitchy aside at Rijkaard, seems most unlike him. He's lost all composure.

RE: Realistic Managers

0. Javier Aguirre
1. Frank Rijkaard
2. Roberto Di Matteo
3. Manuel Pellegrini
4. Bert Van Marjwilk
5. Slaven Bilic

You forgot to add the mexico manager who resigned at the end of the world cup. He has publicy said that he would like to work in the english premiership as his next job.

He took over from Sven-Goran Eriksson who made a mess of the mexico national team and Havier Aguirre was able to get them to the world cup and played well against agentia. Every player played well for mexico in world cup. Average prem players like "Gio Dos Santos" for tottenham looked like world-class talent under his leadership.

He also did a great job at Atletico madrid in his term at the club laying the foundations for success.

I also think Manuel Pellegrini has gone a great job in spain working with what he had.

Psychic i'm not, but whoever posted this team, if you move johnson and pacheco to just behind torres u would get 4-1-2-2-1, WHICH IS PROBABLY THE SAME TEAM AND FORMATION THAT RIJKAARD WOULD PLAY!. Good call whoever posted this. (He used 4-1-2-2-1 at Barca btw, with eto'o upfront.
