Watching boca juniors match and when they nearly scored they all come rushing down to the front of the fence at once looks pretty dangerous

Do they have some sort of safety measures there? I mean its a great atmosphere but looks like an accident waiting to happen

Would there be a chance of a few players being loaned out this new season? Players like Coates, Morgan and Sama? {Ed002's Note - Sure, but it is too early to say which players.}

Shelvey + 4 million for Diame. that's the deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Surely it should be Shelvey for Diame and 4m!

Agree0 Disagree0

If Shelley gets a right head on he could be one of the best in prem. West. Ham could have a bargain

Thanks for the answer earlier Ed, one more question if I may. Like you I think Joe Allen was great at the start of the season and the fell away really, This is about the time Henderson replaced Shelvey in the side and more importantly around the time Lucas started to come back from injury. Do you think BR is struggling to get the right balance in the centre with the different attrbutes of his midfielders? and given how Henderson, Gerrad and Lucas ended the season, and amount of attackers he has ahead of them, how do you see Joe fitting in? and do you really see another CM signed this window?
RNred {Ed001's Note - Allen was tired, it was clear he was struggling with the increased demands and pressure, I don't see any issue there. It was a team finding its feet with a new system, impossible to judge until he is given a chance to slot in next season.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair enough Ed, I agree next year will be interesting. I'd be surprised to see another CM in though to be honest, if Shelvey leaves then maybe a deep/holding experienced one, but I imagine 3/4 first team players this window, 2 defenders and a right sided attacker.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed do you think hendo has moved ahead of him in the ranks I mean he comes across the better and more effective footballer

Hendo has come on so well I think allen is not needed

Personally I think allen was a mistake alomg with borini couldve had much better for the money, esp. Allen {Ed001's Note - Hendo has moved ahead of him while he was out injured, yes, because he played well. He needs to maintain and improve his play though, to stay in the team long term. As for Allen, I still think he could have a role to play, once recovered from injury and back to the form he showed early in the season. They are different types of players and both should be able to play alongside each other. In fact, on paper, the pair should compliment each other's ability.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hando, Downing and Enrique all took a season to lift, why wouldn't we give Joe the time as well? He showed early that he is capable and the season is long so you need a number of options all over the park. Whether he makes it or not, time will tell, but let's not be too hasty to write him off just yet. Andy K

Agree0 Disagree0

Could next year will be the unveiling of two current players? big season for Borini and Allen.

All Borini needs to do is just to score 10goals in all competitions along with a few assists.

Like this season has done with three (Enrique, Henderson, Downing).

Agree0 Disagree0

I still have high hopes for Allen. He is a very good player and I would want us to keep him.

It's been said here already. Excellent at first, his confidence dipped a little when asked to play Lucas' role, and he seemed to become rattled in possession.

When he feels comfortable with the system (and in his own skin), I feel he can do a good job in either of the 3CM slots. At times it just seemed like he was trying too hard, and growing frustrated to easily. A bit like Hendo and Lucas really. But he shares their positive attitude and will to improve.

Criticizing Borini just seems ridiculous to me.

He, Suarez and Sturridge are very good central options. Just because he missed most of the season doesn't suddenly make him a bad player.

BJH YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen has had an almost full season and, with Augusts good performances aside, been pretty poor. Why is he always defended? His positional sense is bad, whenever he plays our back four is left massively exposed, he concedes as many freekicks as he makes clean tackles and, for a person labelled the welsh Xavi, struggles to pick out a team mate 5 yards away. He has been bad this season, look at every game he played and then every game he didn't - we play better and look better when he isn't in the time. We've shelled out 15mil on him so we have no choice but to give him another season but his form needs to take a dramatic upturn - he hasn't been good enough and anyone saying otherwise is kidding themselves.

Can he makes the grade? Honestly I do not know, the signs aren't good but a solid pre-season and who knows, maybe he can find his place in the team. Personally Henderson would be getting the nod every single time over Allen if I was manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Allens natural position is where Gerrard is playing. Completely different players but I think Rodgers was worried about Stevie's legs at the start of the season and Allen was an insurance policy. Gerrards fitness amazing leaving Joe to play in positions he's less comfortable in. I have faith he will be a big player for us.

Been a while since I posted on here. People seem happier so I think it is safe again.

Just a question, not necessarily Liverpool related: I just read about Monaco being bankrolled by a billionaire, and how they are going to build a super club. Anyone else think football is going to hell? Every year there is another billionaire who is willing to take a random club to superstar status by throwing millions around. Certainly we have learned that players can easily be bought. I think it is really destroying the fabric of football, and financial fair play rules seem to be a bit of a joke.

Just a random rant. If we were bankrolled by a billionaire I might feel different, but I don't thinks so. Probably feel sleezy!

Coop

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Honestly? No. I don't think it's going to s***, I thinks it's been there for a while and this is just a natural progression. Eventually the balloon will grow too inflated and it'll pop and will be felt around the world. Until then I sense it will continue to grow.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 18:58:15
FFP will be a joke. city, chelsea, PSG, UTD. they are going to spend. whenever they wish.
I am so happy. Everton is not being bought by any billionaire.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree Coop. Unfortunately that's football these days. It's a rich playboys playground

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree for the most part, but it will make it all the sweeter when we get back to where we belong. Also, we are not a small club despite not being owned by an oligarch, and our fans tend to be more spiritual about our club, and understand what it stands for. I'm not sure how I would feel if people started supporting us if we had simply bought success. I prefer to do it the hard way!

Agree0 Disagree0

Monaco and PSG weren't ever really small clubs, I think it's helping to make it more competitive. Before it was only Chelsea with a billionaire, now there's a bunch of clubs and it'll make us more inventive and find a creative way to win back our spot at the top some day. And we'll definately have to earn it.

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet ironically the two teams in the finals tomorrow are both majority member owned. Money doesn't necessarily equal success (although it doesn't hurt either).

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair PSG are the only big club in Paris and have always had a large following and Monaco, historically, have also been a large, successful clubs. Whilst they have been fortunate to garner the attentions of Billionnaire's to suggest they are just random clubs picked out by wealthy people is wide of the mark - they have been chosen specifically and, for better or worse, will likely become prominent on the European stage once more.

Personally I would hate us to be taken over by a Billionaire, it'd destroy the fabric of our club and I honestly believe success can be achieved without an obscene bankroll. Time will tell I guess but I'm much happier supporting our club in its current position than I would be if a billionaire was just mucking around with it. Look at Chelsea - so hollow and devoid of character its sad, used to be a respected club and now successful but completely lacking in substance. The day we have plastic red flags handed out at Anfield is the day our club has died.

The new Europa league where the winner gets champions league would really help Liverpool. Hopefully Spurs win it but I'd rather qualify by finishing in the top 4 and preferably top!

Just a question for the Ed's. A few months back we were told there would be new about the stadium from the chairman. Saying by may they would explain the next phase of stadium plans? Thanks

YNWA {Ed002's Note - Once the planning application is made it will be in the public domain.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When do you expect the plannin permission to be made ed? {Ed002's Note - Probably in about a year.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That's sad, think its obvious that the Americans are reluctant to pump money into the stadium and will quite probably look to sell before the pressure on them to do so becomes too intense.

Quite disappointed by the continual lies we've been fed about stadium expansions, new stadiums, etc etc just never seems to end and I have no faith in FSG following through with there schemes to redevelop Anfield - if they were serious about it the wheels would already be in motion. Instead there are mere delays and stalling tactics, a great shame. Without an expansion or new stadium we will not be able to challenge at the very highest level.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 years and counting we've been trying to build a new stadium.

Totally farcical

Rafa Benitez confirmed as Napoli Manager. good luck rafa. Champions league once more.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LoL, mate are you saying if rafa was manager we would be playing CL? its because of him we have fallen behind and still recovering.
Get over it and get over yourself

Agree0 Disagree0

I am surprised Rafa has joined Napoli. De Laurentis is a nutter, and if Rafa starts playing politics with him, he will be dumped.

Also, Napoli buys players through a committee/chairman and the manager has not much say in it.

This will be an interesting event to keep an eye out for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, it could mean Napoli are in the CL and Rafa is taking over them, hence why he'll be in the Champions League again. You've literally just put 2 and 2 together and got 5398.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lfc fall out wasn't started by rafa, it's was by hick and gillet, I want to know from every single fans hu wanted rafa out before hick and gillet, I 4 once have 2 c fans outside court worrying in throwing them butter out of our club, and the best example that it's not rafas fault we have and have spent more more money than wot rafas spent in durin his full tenure at Lfc, for example arsenal can sell all the players they want because non of other team manager including brendon r at Wenger and rafas level. Manager like brendon they only know good football no plan b or c, and crap when it's come on buying players.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 20:28:53
Harry mate just ignore them son. We all know you mean well geez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right Harry, good luck Rafa. Back in Champions league with Napoli, and he did well this season, and which Chelsea players did he sign again??

Agree0 Disagree0

To the nameless poster, are you suggesting that Sturridge and Coutinho are crap? Andy K

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge came because he was long term Lfc target and not brendon, that's way brendon always criticized him when we don't have a good game, because he want 2 make his point of view on unwanted player on his list, but bcouse of Suarez ban brendon realise that he shudve mess on players like sturr, if he want 2 mess then mess wit players like Allen and borini his puppet, hu he always tries on pricing them but he still can't find a word simple they r crap signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the no name poster: rafa never had a plan b either his whole plan was defend like crazy and hope Torres will score from one of the scraps he was fed from our defensive play or that Stevie would bang a screamer in.

I wanted rafa gone 2 and a half years before he left, didn't like his brand of football andthe silly wages he was paying players was crippling us.

Grateful for the memories but some people have rose tinted glasses when it comes to rafa. We could also throw in that he helped force out one of the most talented midfield players in the last 30 years.

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

To the poster talking nonsense about Sturridge - Rodgers scouted him extensively and asked a number of players involved within the England set-up their opinions on Sturridge i. e. how he trains, does he work hard, does he like boozing, etc etc etc so to say he was bought without Rogers consent is just ridiculous. Rodgers wanted him in the summer but his hands were tied. Get a grip you stirrer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool scout players for years and keep an eye on their progress we have tried in the past to sign several players to no avail first time then gone back for them i. e tony hately and the awfull julian dicks.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 15:44:27
Rodgers talks about getting "winners" in this summer, so I would guess that he will look to sign players from Ajax and Porto. These clubs normally produce good young technical players that would suit the new system that Rogers is trying to develop. This does not mean we will end up with Eriksen, Fischer or Martinez.
I would be happy to see one of De Jong, Otamendi, Danilo or Defour come in.

The Yorkshire Red.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 May 2013 16:38:29
Danilo is a RB and we have enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

Otamendi is a wierd one - I hear good things about him but he is anonymous every time I see him play! Does anyone watch enough of Porto to tell me if I'm just a bit unlucky? In fairness I usually see them smashing teams so not much for him to do

Agree0 Disagree0

More about the mentality of players rather than the fact if they've won anything

Agree0 Disagree0

True but Kelly keeps pulling his hammy whilst playing there during sprint up the wing, Wisdom is also suited to playing in the middle. Johnson can't defend and is the only right footed full back that plays better on the left (He should also get a few games playing as the right winger forward as this is where his best work is done) and Flanno is a good few years off being good enough. Plus if Danilo did come in and showed half the work rate of Lucas, or the flair and creativity of Coutinho he would put all our right backs in a box. But don't 'gazz' your insightful comment really set me straight. Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is talking about the mentality of the players as much as their medal collections. Throughout the season we have heard Gerrard, Suarez and even BR mention that the squad needs more experience and question the policy of bringing in just youth. Toure is one and I imagine a couple more will come. Look at the difference players like Garry Mac, or Laurent Blanc made to young sides. We need to Add strong leaders/personalities now to the great young players we have, because we never had enough in place to start with. This window has me interested. Sturridge has a point to prove after his last 2 clubs, Courthinio after Inter has something to prove, Toure after last season, Br seems to be getting attitude as well as talent, and now experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

Otamendi is not good enough. He is positionally so weak, it's unbelievable, not particularly strong either and is really rash in challenges.

Stay well clear.

There is little point dealing with FC Porto, they inflate the transfer fee for every player they sign, usually from South America or cherry picking the best talent in Portugal, which is why they have made profits from player sales over 250 million euros in the last few years.

It's a well run BUSINESS.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 13:50:40
Either people here watch a lot from loads of leagues or there asking for players they have nether actually seen play. I remember last year when everybody clamored for the next great thing Gaston Ramirez. I might be wrong and people watch a lot of football, but apart from Liverpool games and other games of interest I don't watch to much.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't speak for others but the majority of the time I'm at home, football is on my TV

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd watch more European football than premier league!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its because people play football games mate. Everytime fifa/pro evo/football manager make a player that gets really good in the future a large majority of people on here think we should sign him. Takes me back to the gourcouff rumours a few years back (was really good on pro/fifa). I'm pretty sure he hasn't hit the heights he was ment to at lyon. Maybe i'm wrong, (edd002?) and oh yea he's pants on pro/fifa now so no one wants him anymore!
this is why everyone is after coutois and ter stegan, they are the two best keepers on fifa 12, you see Borussia Mönchengladbach who ter stagen plays for arne't on tv very much apart from bundesliga highlights so how do they know how good he is! there is one more people like and that youtube highlights, a few minutes showing there best bits and people fall in love with the player. you tube highlights could make anyone look world class. Even your nan, no offence.
there are some very knowledgeable people out there that do know a lot but i'm pretty sure I make a good point.
thoughts anyone,, edd's?

Agree0 Disagree0

5 gold stars

Agree0 Disagree0

Billynwa, people have this incredible thing called "The internet" in which they can stream live football from all around the world (illegally though!), so not everyone is just looking at games like FIFA, Football Manager and PES and getting their "scouting knowledge" from there. The majority yes, but there are many who watch insane amounts of football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Through my industry I end up in Italy a lot and Spain quite a bit so I watch a fair amount of those games. I'm friends with a couple of ex players in Italy and get free tickets a lot to some clubs.

I can honestly say I've never watched a single Russian league game and very rarely watch Holland. Last 2 years I've watched Germany quite a bit as I like to bet on games in their league. There'll be plenty of others like myself that watch other leagues.

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool fans do tend to watch a lot of games. This is part of the reason why they are respected for their views on the game. (not all of them obv. )

This year I watched some Ajax games in Holland, A few Serie A and Italian cup games, A good few games in Spain, games in Brazil and Argentina and even the final of the MLS. I watch all the LFC games, youth games too.

I haven't watched any German footy though - but there's always European games to see them play - and I know quite a few people who watch more than I do.

Who remembers hoping that their team was on 5 live commentary on the radio and thinking it was great!

This 'internet' is crazy, you really can watch the most obscure games - but I am skeptical when people are throwing out obscure names from the Ukranian league - or claim they watch it regularly - likewise for the Russian league.

but then again, I have tuned in before just to see McGeady play, a bit like Keane in the MLS.

Saw a great game there earlier this season with 'the Galaxy' against Kris Boyd's Portland Timbers - damn good it was too. Very entertaining.

There's something timeless about watching Serie A though. Give a few leagues a whirl I say. There are some good players and teams out there.

Maybe we could get in Kris Boyd as a backup striker?

BJH YNWA

ps - Only Joking. You know what part.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've got friends all over the world so I tend to get a lot of info off them about players. Obviously I don't have friends in every country in the world but I got loads of German friends, a few Italian, a few French, tons of Japanese friends, tons of Korean friends, a few Chilean friends, a few Spanish friends, etc etc etc the list goes on. I don't have the time or energy to watch footy from Russia or anywhere else so getting info from those who do is all I got.

Guys. Seriously. Don't you remember what happened last year and at Christmas! 99. 9% of the rumours you will here are rubbish. Last summer we were linked with a load of well known players then, Bang, out of nowhere we signed Assaidi. Same thing happened at Xmas. All you could see on here for the first few weeks was Sneijder rumours then, Bang, Coutinho is in the door! i'm just saying that even when you hear we are "heavily linked" or "in talks" it could end up being a diverson to throw other suitors of our real target

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whats the difference between a diversion, and journalists either just making up rubbish or getting the wrong end of the stick?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 May 2013 01:34:45
No professional football team would be un professional enough to use other players names as cover for their signings. Plus plenty of people, myself included, mentioned coutinho way before he signed. I even posted 6 or 7 months before saying inter staff had asked coutinho if he fancied Liverpool and then again 2 months later to say he'd started learning English.

Plenty of people post and are aware of signings before we sign them. Just read Macca page

Nevada

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, clubs will sometimes go to the media with a false story. It's quite common in fact.

Hi Ed's

Just a personal view from myself really and I wanted to see if anybody agrees. From a striking perspective, Liverpool's main target this summer should be Tom Ince. I really don't see us needing an out and out striker, just somebody to attack the wings and come inside. Ince is the best person for this role that I can think of and I believe we should make him priority. With Suarez coming back after his 10 game ban, we don't need another number 9. But I think we can all agree that we are going to have a cracker of a season for 13/14!

Cheers, Big Red

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post Paul - but let's leave it to the club scouts and BR to decide if we buy your son or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

So with Assaidi, Courthinio, Sterling and downing in the side you think the priority is another left sided attacking mid?
Id rather we got someone for the other side myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the theory but not the actual player

Just for anyone who's wondering the Lucas Piazon rumours should be disregarded. They only came about after an interview in which he placed doubt over his Chelsea future by basically admitting it wasn't the best place for his development due to lack of playing time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And what about yourself, how much is westham's offer for you?

Agree0 Disagree0

West Ham have not offered anything for Jonjo Shelvey as of yet. However, as I have previously stated, if the right bid comes in, (unfortunately) it will result in Shelvey being sold. I believe a bid in the region of £7m will be enough to prize him away from LFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with texter that Shelvey will be sold. It will be better for his career if he moved and had more playing time with another club.
He's not getting a proper run in the first team due to the players ahead of him.

Also would the team loaning the players contact other teams or do teams looking for loanees contact the relevant team?

Hi Eds. why don't we look at Thomas Vermaelen. noted he has not had the best of seasons. but he was playing when Arsenals defence was chaotic to say the least. At times he has been outstanding scores goals and at 5m must be worth considering

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is this serious? vermalen? arsenal captain?

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't the Arsenal captain any more, Arteta is and Mertesaker is VC I think. He's barely played since mid-year

Agree0 Disagree0

Everytime Arsenal sell their Captain he goes on to win a Title so Welcome Vermalin

Vermaelen is past his best. Also too similar to Agger imo. We need beast like Papa, not another ball playing cb.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was looking at cheaper alternatives especially now that they got Coutinho as THE SALE OF THE CENTURY. Their trying to pull of same trick and if it doesn't pay off for them then they'll jump on Eriksen. They need to get a move on though because I feel this is the only time we could get him otherwise we could pay near double in a years time.

I think Michu is still sale of the century - I'd rather have Coutinho but he isn't quite 4 times better!

Hi Eds, appreciate all the hard to work! Just wondering if you know whether Brad Jones is likely to leave? Also, have FSG ever looked or are they looking at employing a senior management figure to oversee their operations in England? I know David Dean was talked about a while back?

Thanks again,
SamL {Ed002's Note - Jones is ecxpected to stay as far as I know. The club were looking for someone to help out on the football front.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd agree with the ed there. He only signed a new 'long term' deal recently.

He has done an admirable job as backup, and seems happy with the role and with life in Liverpool.

The following is an extract from when Jones signed his new deal:

He may have grown up in Perth but Jones has been a lifelong Liverpool supporter and when he was asked earlier this season whether he would ever think about moving to a club of a lesser stature to simply play games, his response was emphatic.

‘This was not just a move for me, it was like an achievement, ’ said Jones. 'There were two things I said when I was eight years old; one was that I was going to play for Australia, which I have, and the other was playing for Liverpool, which I’ve done too.

'There is something about coming in (here) every day that makes everything you have sacrificed worthwhile.

'I would not walk away at all if I was given the opportunity to stay. For as long as the manager wants me at the club, I am willing to be here. '

I don't think Brad will expect to be No. 1 at LFC next year if Pepe leaves.

We have other priorities to address imo. Brad is a 'keeper' - in each sense of the word.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 May 2013 10:23:38
Both are excellent players. Strootman will be heading for UTD, Erikkson is a possiblility, But remains very less.
I would personally go and get Honda since his contract expires in december for 6 mill with a decent wages. he would be an excellent adidtion in the attacking role of his versatality.
Erikkson is not effective in wings, But Honda would be brilliant with countinho and suarez behind sturridge.

Stoke keeper Asmir Begovic has claimed he is on his way out of the Britannia Stadium and on his way to Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old has had an excellent season for Stoke which has led to him being linked with a move to both Arsenal and Manchester United but in an interview in Bosnia he claimed he was Anfield-bound.

He said: "I want to start preparing on July 10, with all the players of Liverpool. "

We should loan Suso to Malaga since they will probably sell Isco and won't take Lucas Piazon on loan next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Isco is sold, do you not think they will use at least some of that money to buy a replacement rather than hoping that a Liverpool youth player will on loan will fill the gap?

Why not harry? its actually a blessing in disguise that we don't have europe next year, only 1 game a week, while spurs will play up to 3 games a week. I hope Coutinho and Sturridge play all 38 games, we will have 30 goals and 30 assists combined!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 May 2013 11:18:04
Joao Teixeira will make the step up as well next season I recon and Suso, Sterling and Wisdom will not be going out on loan anyway.

Coutinho-Sturridge-Suarez (that is a world class attack in every single way you look at it)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we will play Coutinho all 38 games. With Sturridge, Suarez, Downing, Henderson, Sterling and possibly a new winger/forward coming in, we are well covered for eventualities.

Hey eds,
just wondering, do you think there is a possibility we can get benteke and eriksen? in my opinion both are achieveable, as benteke may want to leave because villa are in the relegation battle, so surely if an offer was made he would take the chance to play for a bigger club? and eriksen looks destined to leave this summer. Both player are quick, skillful and both are very young, and would fit into our play nicely. A front 3 of benteke at striker, suarez and eriksen behind, and coutinho and sturridge on the wings, with gerrard in holding midfield would be a certain champions league team in my opinion. is this too optimisitc, as both would probably cost around £15m each, meaning total of £30m, and with carroll looking to have sold for £15m plus the likes of spearing, coates, pacheco etc, with an additional £20m from the owners, surely we can afford this? we would also probably have enough money left over to bring in kolo and another younger centre back, with a new goalkeeper if pepe leaves. Any thoughts {Ed001's Note - I am bored of these kind of questions, they have been answered multiple times and are just pointless.}
