what is with people thinkin aguero would won't to join us?? it;s going to take at least another 2seasons before we can even think about challengin for the league! kenny should go for james mccarthey, shane long, arda turan and a good solid left back and another centre half, qualify for the champs league next year and then we can start to dream about the likes of aguero in the red shirt!!

24 May 2011 23:33:59
Young to United (15m) Elia to Liverpool (13m) ... Source TalkSport and @LFCTransferSpec & @KOPSOURCE (Twitter). I said it all along tbh

24 May 2011 23:17:46
Juan Mata is probably coming from what the twitter rumours says.

Is it likely that Alexis Sanchez would come to us?

Mata

Sanchez Suarez

I would pay over the odds to see these play on Anfield.

24 May 2011 23:15:54
Ed, can you explain the Ken Aguero thing please? I started using this site just after it came about and ive always wondered what it is? thanks. {Ed001's Note - it was just a joke that was run with after someone made a typo of Ken while referring to Kun Aguero. It just became a running joke on the main site and has never fully gone away.}

24 May 2011 23:15:25
Stu...... You ain't got a clue obviously. Warnock or konchesky. Dann or the Greek? Parker or spearing? Adam or Lucas? Keane or Ngog? these are all improvements on what have played in the 1st team this year. All proven in the premier league. Yes you can go and pay over the odds for a foreign talent but you have to be sure before doing so..... There's to much money in the game.

24 May 2011 23:13:38
Why is mirror reporting that chelsea will pay 20 mill for aguero . ? If aguero is for 20 mill and he wage demand is 120K ( according to the mirror ) then LFC would have already done the deal with AM. Freaking stupid paper.

Ed001 I totally disagree with the erm no comment. Robbie Keane is a far better player than Ngog I know Ngog is young but we have young players coming through. We have suarez and Carroll we just need a player who can provide decent backup. Keane is the man on the cheap. I've heard this loads lately suprised it weren't posted. {Ed001's Note - Keane was not good enough at his peak, he is certainly not good enough now.}

24 May 2011 23:02:52
AMAZING HOW THE RUMOURS HAVE CHANGED FROM LAST WEEK, WE WAS GOING TO SIGN ALL THESE TOP CLASS PLAYERS, NOW EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT THE LIKES OF KEANE, LONG AND WARNOCK????????? CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON :( :( :(

24 May 2011 22:59:49
Evening Eds and all,

Not sure anyone has mentioned this player before...

What about Aguero of A Madrid? Not sure if Eds have heard of this player before? He is argentine, 21 and a striker?

Eds not sure you've been asked this before and a bolt out of the blue, but what's your thoughts? Chances out of 10?

Ha ha, sorry Eds.

Bazzaa {Ed001's Note - I don't think I have heard of a Sergio Aguero before, is he any relation of Ken?}

24 May 2011 22:59:13
firstly great site :)

but two things annoy me, , , , , , , I want aguero as much as anyone but please stop the ten posts a second garbage ( editors your heads must be melted ) ... i hope he signs and i know yous don't think he will, but you also didnt think suarez wd ( thats not a pop at yous, just sayin that anythin can happen ) ........ so please leave aguero to bed for the time being, if something happens we will now.........

Secondly, , , will people stop posting prices for players on a free........ were not goin to pay 7 million for owen, hes on a free....... people arnt going to pay 4 for the greek , hes on a free ...... and so on and so forth......

My old school teacher fought alongside the original Blair [Paddy] Mayne in WW2 in the desert near Tobruk. They were both founder members of the SAS. My teacher acted as navigator for Captain Stirling and he has told me some amazing stories involving Blair Mayne, a sporting hero in Ireland and an even greater hero during the war. Their exploits made me feel extremely humble. Now in his 90s, my teacher is still going strong. Perhaps one day he will allow their true story to be told, but for now I have too much respect for him to even reveal his name. I know this has little to do with football, but I just wished to say, Blair, if that is your true name, your mother chose well and that you should bear your name with genuine humility as you have a great act to follow.

'Liverpool will sign Stephen Warnock for around 3 million from Aston Villa on a 2 year deal. Scott Dann will sign on a 4 year deal from Birmingham for a fee of 6 million. Scott Parker to sign on a 2 year contract for around 6 million. Charlie Adam will sign from Blackpool on a 5 year deal for around 10 milion. Robbie Keane will sign on a 2 year deal for around 5 million. These are the signings for Liverpool this summer. Liverpool will let all the dead wood go."

Signing dead wood to get rid of dead wood?
Kean hasn't even been considered for the shortlist...
Scott Parker has maybe one more season in him before fading into oblivion of filtering down the leagues.
Adam is not consistent enough but I would sign him as backup (He actually still IS on the list).
When you realize what kind of budget we have for next year, you will not believe it. The reason is simple - There is no budget at all. There is an open cheque book. If there is someone who's worth the money, he will be brought in. Including Aguero, yes that bloke with so called high wages demands. He hasn't had a chance to state any wage demand at all yet and people already jump to conclusions. He's not beyond the impossible.

24 May 2011 22:41:37
im sorry why would brad friedel sign for us ?
he's played over 260+ games in a row
he's 40 and will only sit on the bench next year so might as well retire its ridiculous {Ed001's Note - because he is bankrupt and needs to extend his career, he has already been told he won't be first choice at Villa next season. What he has on the table are a number of back up keeper + coaching offers to look at. Plus a signing bonus. Does it make sense now?}

Maybe friedel

24 May 2011 22:28:46
Do you think this would be a good squad. Starting 11 - Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Meireles, Gerrard, Lucas, Kuyt, Carroll, Suarez. Subs - Friedal, Kelly, Dann, Agger, Adam, Maxi, Keane. How do you rate the chance of these signings......Friedal, Dann, Enrique, Adam, Keane.

24 May 2011 22:27:03
E.D. At this moment of time who are we most likely to sign??

Looking forward to your replay

LFC'S MANGO {Ed002's Note - Marveaux.}

Roberts-------------Coady-------------Robinson
---------Gerrard-------------Suarez------------
---------Shelvey------------Meireles-----------
----------Suso--------------Sterling-----------
--------------Defoe-----Carroll----------------
---------------Long-----Kuyt------------------
--------------Morgan----Ngoo-----------------

Freidel will be quality back-up till Gulacsi/ Hansen are ready.
Dann is a quality young Centre back. Also a Liverpool fan!
Vargas is an awesome left wing back.
Marveaux is also better suited to a left wing back position. He reminds me of a French, left sided Glen Johnson every time I see him play.
If you Doubt Defoe and Carroll partnership, how many goals did Defoe score last year alongside Crouch up front? 24 i think. Carroll is a Crouch like player, but who scores more goals. Long is also a excellent Forward. 24 years old. Could be the Aldo!

I don't think Flano or Robbo are ready for the first team yet. They should train with them, and get the odd bench appearance, but our tiny squad is what has caused them to be launched in the deep end. If Flanagan grows a couple of inches, I'd like to see him as Carraghers replacement eventually, as i think Kelly would be wasted in Centre back. Ayala is class and must start getting some game time!
Spearing, Lucas... I've seen some right dodgy rumours banging around. They've both just signed extensions!
The third players down are last resorts. The second are subs/ squad players. The first are obvious.

Ino most of you will be screaming Aguero. Tbh Defoe is better value for money atm, but if you want imagine over Defoe with Aguero. I'd personally love it too, but Defoe is more reasonable. Vargas could be staright swapped with Leighton Baines, but again, thats unlikely as Baines is an Evertonian.

To summarise, 3-3-2-2 formation, or 5-3-2 depending on how you view it.

Brad Freidel - Free
Dann - £6m
Vargas/ Baines - £15m
Marveaux - Free
Defoe/ Aguero - £8m/ £35m
Long - £7m
6 signings. Expect all others to be accademy players. We aren't screaming out for more match winners, just more balance.
Gerrard, Suarez, Carroll, Meireles, Kuyt, and even Johnson and Agger are all match winning players. Add some balance to them and you've got a class team. Defoe and Aguero can both be match winners as can Vargas.
Sterling will be as good as Messi. He is a right footed English/ Jamaican version of him!

Watch this space, although its just guesswork tbh lol. All deadwood will be shifted, we all no who the carp is so i won't bother listing them.

YNWA! (Adam)

I have never understood why 99% of followers of this site post the tripe that agents and publicists put out about not joining a club because of no CL Footbal.

If a player is so good and has a pick of so called top CL clubs he will be fortunate to be picking betweem Barca, Real, Bayern M, Arsenal, MU, Chelsea, Milan x 2 or Roma.

So if a players agent says he won't join us becasue he wants CL Football - the player is either absolutely Top Drawer and could walk into any team / system at any of the Top 10 performing European Clubs or is happy to go and play 8 Wednesdays at Kluj, Trabsonzspor, Rangers, Halpoel Tel Aviv, or Buraspor -Galatasary may get a look in.

Wake up - the clubs sign the players not the other way round - look at the the CL clubs and think of a player who could walk into the squads of the top sides. It doesnt make sense.

If the deal is right for the player and the player is right for the club buy him.

Colin Kazim Richards = Regular CL goal scorer !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liverpool are in talks to sign Elia, numerous sources have reported this! this rumour has been doing the rounds since January i expect it to hit the papers this week! another signing which seems extremely likely is scott dann! he has always been one of kennys top targets ! not to mention he has a house on Merseyside !!

24 May 2011 22:15:14
"I think u will find they will start doing that when the financial fair play rules kick in mate! you need to chek the facts first, have a look in january to see how many and how much money we wer willing to spend!
RedTurk"

Sorry just got in from work and this was a reply to my post last night.

RedTurk, I'll have to bow to your knowledge of how much we were willing to spend. The actual fact is we spent what we collected. Which is exactly what Henry said the club would do and that's my point.

The big issue is how much FSG are going to throw extra into the pot. Being a realist you cannot expect much more than £25M. If they allow the manager to have the majority if not all of the money raised from sales then at the very best you are looking at an extra £25M (that is being extremely generous).

So what will £50M get you in the summer considering Mata is being priced at £25M alone? I beg all posters to think before they bug the Ed's to death with a wishlist of 11 players costing £125M.

This notion of mega spending mustn't be allowed to get any bigger. I warn you all now. You will feel a massive anti-climax come August and the knee jerk reactions will come thick and fast.

Before they do though, look in the mirror and punch your own lights out for being such a stupid tool.

Heed my warning.

Bob the Red

Is it me but is Hulk very very overated - as I've never seen him have an exceptional game in the Champs League and he kept giving the ball away in last week's Europa League final? What am I missing? {Ed001's Note - I feel the same way, I have never seen him play well.}

why do we all think that we will sign players in the next week or 2 weeks. Deals take time to conclude (just look at Suarez deal for example!) and clubs will push for the best deal for them therefore dragging them out. I doubt any players will sign before mid June.

24 May 2011 21:52:42
I have a genuine belief that Liverpool will make a statement of intent this transfer window. Two big name wingers will be signed, my view two of three out of Mata, Hazard and Young. This is in addition to the free signing of Marveaux. We will also be in addition of a left back, either Enrique or Juan Vargas. Potentially with a playmaker such as Diego. The only other signings we will make will be if we sell players, such a a new centre back. With the sale of the mentioned names which will generate a fair amount of money, especially if Aquilani goes. This means that we will only be spending in the region of £50m on improvements to a side which certainly looks like it has potential to do some damage next season.

Ok slaughter me if you like but am I the only person who thinks the money it would take to buy Kun could be better spent putting the finishing touches to building a team that will fight for each other not just Galaticos a la Madrid, M City?
Look Kun is a good player but two wingers, a centre half, left back and creative midfielder must be better value than 1 guy. For years we were told we were a 2 man team (Torres & Gerrard) surely we don't want to make the same mistakes again? What if we sign Kun and no other quality in the other positions and he goes and gets injured?

Ed am I going mad or are some of my fellow posters just not old enough to remember the Liverpool teams of old - no over inflated egos, just great players working hard for each other, the shirt and the fans.

C'mon are we not the club who built foundations on Shanks idiollogy that the some of the parts is stronger than any one individual - we always say the club is bigger than any one person....Lets sign several top quality players with the right team ethic and work rate. We need players with both skill and the heart of a Lucas, Kuyt - we have that in Suarez, more of the same now for the wings and left back please KK.

Im sorry ed but im soptimistic about aguero and i know there are argumets about where will play him and the answer is simple.
4-3-3

-------------MEIRELES---LUCAS-------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------GERRARD-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------AGUERO-------------------SUAREZ----------
-----------------CAROLL/ ST signed----------------

Thats right aguero and suarez and WF sound good. Another striker signed to give carroll competition i have no idea who.
also in DANN, ENRIQUE, DOWNING, ELIA
Dann-6m
Enrique-8m
Downing-10m
ELia-10m
Striker-12m
46m- still 4m leftover from NESV budjet and money raised to pay for aguero (plenty of player sales)
with those signings the squad looks alot better and has a acceptable cover for evry position.

MAxi leaving could have an impact on aguero deal tho :/

Domestic transfers between clubs in the same association (eg England or Scotland) can take place as soon as a club completes its last competitive fixtures.

However, many transfers or signings, although agreed and announced at this time, will not formally go through until 1 July because the majority of players' contracts expire on 30 June.

Outside of the transfer window, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis (such as if they have no goalkeepers available) with special dispensation from their competition's governing body, for example the Premier League.

Players who are out-of-contract free agents can be signed outside of the transfer window if they were unattached when the previous window closed, although most leagues have their own deadlines for clubs to register players to play during the season.

The transfer window does not apply to clubs below Blue Square Bet Premier level.

{Ed002's Note - It is actually up to each FA to decide when to open the window.}

I have realised who we need to supply big andy.

He may not come under FSG's new policy, he may also mate played for the dirty mancs most of his career but he can still put in the balls!

(take this with a pinch of salt)

David Beckham anyone?!

I've becomea proper addict, from 7:30 in work, dropping back in for bout 20 min's per hour- Top, top site. Ed's you're funny guys but how do you put up with some of the tripe is amazing?

I think we should not get carried away with KK & FSG; yes there's money, yes we've got rid of the other yanks and KK is at the helm. There is a big but here....

We need better players than we have already (as per KK on radio merseyside said in interview) and based on the ones I hope go;

Poulsen - Half chewed gob-stopper
Javanovic - Pack of chewits
N'gogg - portion of chips
Cole - Coal (1 lump)
Johnson - please...anybody?

I hope Agger stays, Sato and Skirtl (all as cover) and I hope Aqualani comes back - he played well all things considered - he was creative and set up lots of assists. Problem is he could'nt get into any form with Gerrard. But is that not similar to our current #4 Merelles - he and Gerrard are nor always in sync?

And why do LFC fans want Adam or Parker or Nzogbia or Young or Cahill - AVERAGE players at best. Good with small clubs but no more (Hodgson was the same).

If Pepe stays thats great, and we all know what positions need buying in, wingers, LB and mid. Any more is a bonus so for me it's 3 or 4 players max.

We need to clear out - but not all will go (unfortunately) and we need great players not big names and we need to stop speculating, if you have a good rumour - post it - if you read it in the paper - don't.

I must admit, the rumours that go; my dad's mate, cousin, is the cleaner for the tesco where John Barnes bought milk in allerton road 10 years ago and he sold a pie to an irish dog called phil who said woof so that means Torres and Alonso are both coming for £30 and bottle of grey goose in alma de cuba! {Ed001's Note - mmmmmmm chewits! I love chewits.}

I don't get were all this Aguero talk is coming from? Please, please tell me people arn't listening to Kraptalk (If that's the sh*t he's saying now). We don't need Aguero, we need WINGERS. Givin the choice between 2 quality wingers or Sergio Aguero, then it's the 2 wingers for me. Givin the choice to play Aguero or Suarez with Carroll, then it's Suarez for me. So were is Aguero going to fit in? We bought Carroll in January and will buy WINGERS, to get the best out of him in the next few months. I'd be very supprised to see any striker costing between 25-40 mill, come in the summer. A striker is not our priority WINGERS are. If we buy Aguero or any other striker and play 4-3-3 then what was the point of buying Carroll?

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. WINGERS!

24 May 2011 21:15:20
Ed, do you think Aguero is possible with his wages and the transfer fees?

I would say a STRONG "No".

How is he different to Suarez as a player?......Plus does he have the necessary mental toughness to become a great player??

I feel he is very similar to Pato ??? Lots of show and glamour but NO great "End
Product".
------------------------------
1) Does he have the mental toughness? - He grew up in a poor Argentinian neighbourhood, and is much like Tevez and Suarez in his 'win at all costs' attitude.

2)Is he like Suarez? Kind of, but he's not EXACTLY the same, he is stronger than Suarez, but they both have different play styles.

3) No end product? 77 goals in 176 games in a poor Atletico side says it all really. 20 in 32 this season.

24 May 2011 21:15:04
We are paying £7 million for a player who is out of contract? I find that highly unlikely. Imbecile.

one striker
Ashley Young > out Aquilani

Sylvain Marveaux > out El Zhar

Matthew Jarvis > Jovanovic
Chris Humphrey > J Cole
4 wingers

Charlie Adams > out Gerrard
1 creative mid
Scot Parker > out Poulsen
1 defensive mid
Jose Enrique > out Degen
Stephen Warnock > out Konchesky (carra semi retirement stage cover)
2 lbk
Gary Cahill > out Kyrgiakos
1 Cbk
Brad Friedel > out Renia
1 GK
-----------------------------
How many times...we will not be signing mediocre players like Jarvis, Humphrey or Warnock, we have money now, why would we want to sign players that would turn us into a mid-table club?

LooK let's put this to bed about Aguerro - He is not coming to Liverpool, he is going to Real Madrid. I live in Madrid and all the radio stations, Marca, AS, etc are reporting that Real Madrid have come to an agreement with Aguerro. When marca reports it, it means it will happen
---------------------------------
HA! Surely if you live in Spain you'd know by now that Marca is Real's propaganda machine.

Don't believe anything that paper says, they're always printing lies about Barca, and are just trying to mess with Aguero's head.

Re Kun aguero

FSG transfer targets are young, good sell on fee & high quality player.

Torres was a gud investment with double profit, Suarez has already increased his sell on value. High quality, high profile players generally do.

Aguero's fee would be deemed an investment to these guys, he is only
22, how much could you sell him for
in 4 years & still in his prime? 80m?

Re his wages - the group said they would increase the wage bill. His wages could be supplemented by linked investors we know the group are encouraging 2 invest.

Who are we going to pay the 7 mil to, his dad?
He's gonna be released from MUFC and is available for free, unless GOD intervenes.
But Kenny does want him, and Alonso. My source is very clear that this has been discussed at one point.
I also heard from another, less reliable source who gets it right every once in a while, that Carra and Gerrard both spoke with Kenny about the possibility of bringing in both players and the response was good.

in my opinion guys i would love Liverpool to sign augero it would be fantastic but would the owners stump up the cash to buy players in vital areas as well and in my eyes i don't see that happening. I would love to see Liverpool bring in some british talent as well as one or two forgien players.

The british players i would sign are:
Gary Cahill - ( great replacement for jamie and he has basiclly been transfer listed by owen coyle with him sayig they would listen to offers. 15 mill )
or Scott Dann - ( 8 mill my worry is if he is good enough for liverpool)
Charlie Adam - ( 10 mill great passer evryone knows about him)
Downing - ( good winger which is what we need)
etc.
Plus young talent like Conor wickham plus let ours shine through plus a few forgein players like mata and vargas

We are going through a transformation of Liverpool footbal club under Kenny trust in them and we will go far

24 May 2011 20:55:15
Just a thought but if aquaman fancies Italian football so much then why not offer a cash+ player deal with udinese fr Sanchez? It's unlikely to work as we can't offer CL but if we pulled of Sanchez and hazard we'd have the two brightest European prospects in football! Wishful thinkin never hurt anybody, but essentially, we need some quick, skillfull wingers!

Think am going to take a two day break lol from this site almost every post aguero aguero aguero like some kind of crazy obsession, it's toasting my brains.

So many other talented players liverpool can sign geez and some of you guys need to stop giving the eds carrots you expect them to know everything you ask a question and you don't like the reply then faulty reply's start.

Kenny will bring some talented top quality players and the team will be alot stronger next season.

kelly........dann...............agger..........aurelio
...........gerrard......lucas....merieles.................
......aguero...........carroll..........suarez............

with no injuries!! and obviousely if there were injuries, put johnson left back, and we also have flanagan, robinson carragher etc.

Not a lot of players to sign and not so much money apart from aguero who would be worth it.

I would say this could be a title winning side, what do you think?

would this work? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't in my opinion aurelio and kelly can push up if needed and act as full backs...

Ed your thoughts? would this work? even if it isn't realistic!

to say we are out the running for ageuro i would say is abit much, i think if KK has a real interest in him i think there is every chance we can get him, his best pals with maxi, he supports liverpool and would love to play along side the legend Stevie G and he really likes liverpool as a city. So if liverpool are willing to pay a the fee requested i don't see any reason why he wouldn't consider.

but i do agree with Ed i don't think it will be in the next few days.

as for signing wingers ed would you say we have definately lost out on Young? i think he'd be a great addition to the squad..i would also like to see the likes of lennon or defoe at the club? how true are the defoe rumours?

owen back are you insane
never ever would any true liverpool fan want that scummy traitor back not a chance

we need to get shut of the following

shelvey (awful)
poulsen (awful)
ngog
agger (injury prone)
cole
kyriagos (mistake prone)
maxi rodriguez ( played good the last 2 games but 2 out of 38 not good enough )

the above players will never help liverpool regain the title and we have put up with medioka players far to long

we need

n zogbia proven in the epl and under the wing of the king would be a great asset

gary cahill young english and strong replace for the injury prone agger

charlie adam great british leader i think he will fit in excellently at liverpool

scott parker many people say they don't no where he willl fit in, but he is class his team where relegated and he still won an award

eden hazard outstanding winger

next year i would love

reina
kelly carra cahill johnson
parker
hazard gerrard nzogbia

kuyt the king
lucas the legend
meireles
skrtel

both are very Direct wingers with a good cross, another player of the same is Dzsudzsak for LW.

Please can you explain.

Just flicking through the channels to watch the Ireland game and on SS2 there is some testimonial for a t**t called G. Neville, however at the point of going through that channel to my surprise Alberto Aqualani is playing for juve.
I thought that the Italian league had finished which meant that he should return back to us??

INS: Marveaux, Mata, Aquilani, Friedel, (other signings to satisfy our problems - I can't think of and will not guess who etc.)

OUT: J.Cole, Ngog, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Jones, Krygiakos, Darby.

All the rumours are great to read but id really love to hear of teams interested in our dead wood. Thee must be 10 - 15 players in the squad that are not good enough, and if we could rid the place of them and with the money the owners will invest we could get 3-4 top players to go with the youngsters coming through. Why all these rumours bout enrique, is he better than johnson (no) if johnson goes right back coz god forbid we signed enrique, what happens to flannagan?, if kelly can do as good a job as he has at rb in the centre do we need a cb. Midfield is where we need to rebuild we have a world class captain and quality in meireless and the rest of midfield players are reserves players at best, kuyt carrol n suarrez backed up by an old pro like van nistleroy will do the job up front. Midfield bolstering 1st kk lets get the title back at anfield

Aguero would be the answer to our prayers......if we hadn't already signed Suarez. Yes he is a fantastic player but if we are going to spend money like the sort he would cost, lets fill a role that we need to first. What is the point in spending 75% of our transfer budget to have the best strike force in the world with no supply?????? Ed's, if you could sign one player, regardless to availability, rumours linking them to other teams, who would it be?
I think if we are looking to spend 35-40m on one player do it on Hulk. Yes he is probably going elesewhere for £25m but with our current team I think he would bring in what we have been missing, adapt very quickly to the physical side of the premiership and link up superbly with Suarez and Carroll. And 35m money better spent than on Aguero in a position that we have already got more or less sorted. Great site as always, views ed's?

{Ed002's Note - I guess I would probably have to say Mata.}

heard 2 people now saying camolli is buying from a lot from the french league - his old club st.etienne 12m for matuidi: an athletic physical presence that we have missed in central mid field, plus he's 6 foot so can challenge better at kick outs then lucas, also a possible move for team mate payet for 8m but that maybe a back up plan, marveaux is pretty much nailed on and sakho as laft back for 15m which is better value then enrique, the big name is mata for 25m, possible moves for jones and dann but they might leave them until jan or next year as sakho can cover too, pretty good first team tho

Lets look at this Aguero thing logically,
Its going to cost a fair amount of £'s to prise him away from Athletico even if he wants to leave. His wages are going to be higher than anyone else in the squads, surely looking towards the 200K a week bracket.

Then if the seemingly impossible happened and we do make him our "Marquee" signing, then what? Drop £35
Carrol? Or Suarez who's been lighting our last couple of games virtually on his own? I honestly don't know what formation you would play to fit the lot of them in because neither Carrol or Suarez are going to want to be a bench warmer.
Also I see Champions League football being an issue a player of Aguero's calibre is surely going to want to play on the big stages in the largest competitions?

To sum the Aguero transfer up, I personally think its very optimistic, Dont get me wrong I'm not saying Liverpool can't attract the highest quality players, but with no Champions League is going to hinder signing the best at the present moment. Fingers crossed and we pull of what would be one of the biggest Coups our club would have ever achieved!

Cheers for reading.

Aurelio states on lfc.tv that he's ready to fight for his position... someone needs to tell him that he's way too injury prone to be fighting! The lad would break a nail if he worked in an office!

24 May 2011 18:51:15
Never have I laughed so much as reading fans get over excited about the possibility of some signings, can't do anything until the international window opens apart from british transfers, c Adam seems to be a good bet but he is on international duty, let the eds sort out the proper Rumours, rather than optimistic tripe. Cheers to all the eds, especially ed002.

Sorry Eds! I forgot to enclose this rumour in my previous post! I was informed yesterday that Everton are arranging to meet representatives of Michael Owen to disguss a transfer! would this make him the most hated player in Liverpool's history? Has anybody else heard this one? Just another striker to clog up Evertons ever growing injury room which irionically is already full of strikers. Thoughts ed's? LOVE IT!

Owen never cared for the club, that showed in the way he left for Real M, so, who cares!

Hi Eds - can you please post this, as it is 100% accurate.

I am a UK journalist working in Spain and I can confirm that Sergio Kun Aguero will indeed be signing for LFC over the next few days.

That's all I have.

LJ4

What a pile of shizzle! "that's all i have"
HA!!! Love it

Mr T

Yes - this is all the information I have. Nothing else has been revealed. I cannot give any details about the transfer as they haven't been disclosed, and they certainly wouldn't be given in any detail to a journalist.

I can assure the information is accurate and that he will be a Liverpool player by the end of the week. I work on the outskirts of Barcelona and the news is gathering pace here. There is no particular source, but the information our company has received is accurate.

I hope the editors can confirm my location to allay some fears of another mis-placed rumour.

Best regards,
LJ4 {Ed001's Note - his IP does put him in Catalonia.}

Thank God that there is actually somenone who isnt telling bull and if he or she is in catalonia then why would he or she lie about it huh so there is probabl;y a better chance of signing Kun now and better yet that he is liverpool fan so all this cr@p about champions league football would not matter to him as he would come to the club he would die for. So as far as I care i would expect to see Kun next season

Okay - I for one would be gobsmacked if Aguero singed for Liverpool! However, if he did - what a statement that would make to the rest of the premiership!

Kun is certanly someone that would make Reina smile if he was talked about as a transfer!

Then top that with MATA I would be impressed!

Guys, you are all forgetting about Aquilani. He is still a very good player but he needs to be given the chance. just watch a few vids of him on YouTube. Especially LFC V Atletico. He owned the game with his amazing passing ability and decent long shots. Still only 26 so still improving. Keep him Kenny!

This is what Aguero is quoted as saying by SSN:

He said: "After five intense years, this stage for me personally is over and I have to give way to a new one.

"I'm about to turn 23 and I have everything before me. Suffice it to say that this is not an economic issue but strictly a sporting one."

Hmmmm, "it's not an ECONOMIC issue but a sporting one". Can this put to bed all the talk of him being a money grabber?.

I still think he'll be our player next season and i'll continue to dream until i find that he's signed for someone else.

Just been watching some of the games and goals from the Reserves and the Academy this season - and trust me we have some talented youngsters I think Flanno and Robinson are just the tip of the iceberg.

Hopefully we can hold on to them and I also hope some of the lads get a run in some of the cup games next season.

Out of interest who would want to sign Sergio Aguero, sure he's a great player but £45m+ is a lot on one player, if we signed him i expect we would only sign 1/ 2 possibly 3 other players and they would all be fairly cheap signings no more than £10m really.
Whereas if we didnt sign Aguero, we would be able to possible buy 3 more players all great quality who don't have inflated prices just because Chelsea and MAn City are in the hunt for them.
Bel - Aguero and 1/ 2 squad players
Unbel - 5/ 6 great players

24 May 2011 17:08:08
To the guy who said suarez wants out because no euro football... Do you actually think he would of signed in first place if thats all he wanted!! Everyone knew it was an uphill task for europe this year and EVERYONE knows that this summer liverpool will be looking to acquire good players and push on in the league!

Calm down guys, revista la liga is probably announcing de gea to united, although we can still hope for aguero...

regarding Aguero (or anyone for that matter) am I right in saying that even though the window is closed you can still agree deals for players but nothing is official and or cannot be registered until the window re-opens?

Just that Real Madrid have announced the signings of 3 players already {Ed002's Note - English and Welsh transfers can go through but others can only be agreed subject to the window opening etc.}

24 May 2011 16:55:57
A few months ago it was looking very likely that Reina would be off in the Summer. After talks with DC and Kenny he has been convinced that the club's going places. I don't have any sources or contacts, just a very strong feeling that at least one of Aguero or Mata will be signing, and quite possibly both.

24 May 2011 16:52:14
I think the rumours about Aguero signing may actually have some relevance. I have been informed he has previously visited the training facilities at Melwood and was impressed with the whole set up. His agent was also sold on the idea of his client moving to Merseyside its just a case of wether Liverpool are sold on his price tag. If we are, i believe there is a very good chance of us signing him however his wages seem to be the stumbling block in any negotiation. Forget about the transfer fee for one second, we could probably compete with that. Im kinda suprised how much my source, who is a former chief scout at the club, currently in Germany has backed this transfer to go through. Ill go by his words as always, any views, critisisms are welcome

Many thanks

Just heard a sickening rumour, apparently Chelsea and City have put 50mil bids in for Suarez and he might leave coz of lack of European football and we will use the money for Aguero coz he's got his mind set on joining us. Hope Suarez doesnt go but hope we sign Aguero, Imagine Kun and Suarez strike force defenders will be having nightmares.

Why would Suarez want to leave because we haven't european football when he knew this when he signed four months ago and then the chances of us finishing 5th was very very slim?

I think people should maybe remember that there will still be the 25 man squad rule next season. This season we were unable to fulfil our allocation and were forced into filling the squad with U21's.

This lack of squad depth needs to be addressed. I would say we need to have at least 3 or 4 players arriving than departing this Summer. However, the downside is that it will be tougher for our youngsters to make the breakthrough.

My thoughts are that FSG/ Kenny will spend big to try to get back into the top 4 this season & then focus on 1 or 2 transfers each Summer with 1 or 2 youngsters allowed to come through.

If we fail to breach the top 4 by the end of next season, then I think the club will concentrate on building through the youth & not throw any more money at the problem.

So, for me, the club will go all out this Summer to get in 2, 3 or even 4 game changing players. Who they will be remains to be seen - if I could choose, I'd want Marin, Mata & Aguerro but like everyone else, I'll just have to wait and see...

To the people saying LFC wont be buying world class players coz we havent got the money are talking nonsense!FSG will be putting a lot of money on the table tis summer and LFC minority share holders from America will be doing the same! Lebron and co! FSG put massive amounts of money towards the Boston Red Sox, buying the best baseball players and revamping there whole stadium and winning the world series, something they hadnt done for 83years. Their ticket prices have increased by 4% as have LFC's for next season, The world class players we bring in will bring massive amounts of revenue on shirt sales. We have a lot more fans in America now and Lebron and co will be doing all they can to promote our beloved club in America. FSG are extremely proffesional business men with pure winning mentality.Expect worldclass players to be heading to Anfield next season people LFC are going places! {Ed002's Note - LeBron James will not be putting money on the table for Liverpool at all.}

Why some folks come here and suggesting that our Liverpool has not able to attract the Big name players as we don't have Champions League football or Europa League. It is absolutely Rubbish. In January, we have attracted one of Best players in the World Luis 'THE PRINCE' Suarez even though we were in Relegation Battle. Is Manchester City offered Robinho European Football when they Lured him from European Giants Real Madrid.
I say we don't need marquee Signings. We need players who play for Team (UNLIKE CR7) and Fought for the Great Red Shirt..

It doesn't necessarily mean it's true because you are located in Barcelona. Most of us are located in Liverpool and are saying he will not be signing, but again it doesn't necessarily mean it's true. Your company has received information but in the next breath you say there is no particular source.

In response to another comment, I can't remember the time or person, but it was somebody having a dig at someone over their spelling. Totally uncalled for.

How do people say liverpool haven't got the money, like aguero's wages for example. I'm not saying we will sign him. The main reason would be because we haven't got champions league football to offer him. The Liverpool owners have stated we have got money to spend, money is not the problem. Kenny as also stated we have money to spend and also that is not the problem, he also stated that they are ONLY going to bring in QUALITY players who will improve the squad, so either way to buy quality your going to need the money. Also, if we couldn't afford him or his wages or any other big name wages, we simply wouldn't state we want quality players! Lastly, didn't boston red sox just buy one player for like £100million? Not to sure about it myself to be fair but if its true am sure the owners have money

Thank you..

Thanks eds! {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the Red Sox have to do with anything. Prices given for baseball players are not transfer fees. Also, you do realise they have income from at least 81 home games per season.}

I have visited Liverpool and can confirm that what I saw confirms what I am reading on this website, you are all full of s**t!! All this rubbish about C.Adam at the airport and Aguero definitely joining, pull your heads out of you backsides. Adam is in Dublin and Aguero is going nowhere near your club.

Dream on deluded numpties.

This is not a rumour. Anywhere there are lot of fuss lately regarding Kun so called potential move to LFC.Even more so now that he has confirmed that he be moving this summer.

I think LFC would surely put in a bid/ offer for his service but whether LFC gets him or not is another matters.I for one believe that LFC will try their very best to secure his service. He is one player that will tick in all the right boxes with regards to the new Owner transfer policy. Might be a long shot but we never know.Imagine K

24 May 2011 15:19:27
Liverpool will not be signing any so called big names! So please got over all these pathetic rumours. Once again they will only sign scraps left over by the rich clubs. Hence the like of Charlie Adam etc etc.

We can't offer european football and there is no garuntee that we will get back in to europe any time soon. Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea (and maybe even Totenham) all have bigger wallets than we do and can all offer European competition.

There will be no "marquee" signings or anything of the sorts. expect the likes of:
Downing
Friedel
Dann
Nzogbia
Lennon

That is all.

24 May 2011 15:13:19
With regards to the post earlier regarding Dale Jennings at Tranmere, he got released by Liverpool a couple of years back , he was marked down as one for the future but away from football got in with the wrong crowd and his attitude was wrong.I heard he was about to be shown the door at Tranmere but came back to pre season training last year with a complete new attitude and is now showing the potential he has

24 May 2011 15:12:08
why would Aguero come to us? I can't see it to be honest....Adam, Downing and maybe Lennon, a few young'uns eased in, I would like to see Defoe also on the firm and get rid of the dead wood (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE)

I live in Madrid and my daughter and Sergio aqueros are the same age(we live in the same place) and as far as i know his kid will attend the first year of pre school in september here in Madrid, id bet my house he(SERGIO) goes to Madrid next season.I expect Mata to sign
-----------------------------
Well considering he already lives in madrid, I can't see his daughter going to pre school in madrid evidence of him moving anywhere {Ed001's Note - isn't that his point? It seems to have gone over your head a little that he is saying that it is most likely to be a move to Real Madrid.}

Never understood this obsession with who's in school where. I went to school in a foreign country and loads of foreign kids use british schools. Even if it is the case that he's enrolled his kid in a Madrid school, how long ago did he make his decision to leave the city? Days!!

Hi guys

Time to reveal the truth about Sergio Aguero...
Players don't decide their futures overnight, it is a long drawn out process involving agents, advisors, family, managers and friends...
Aguero has known his preferred destinaion for a while and Atletico Madrid were made aware of his intentions some time ago.

Believe it or not, but Aguero is going to sign for Liverpool Football club.
He fancies the city as a good place to live, and is happy to play alongside players like Steven Gerrard.

Liverpool and the King in particular have had to comply with Atletico as they hold all the cards.
The King was adamant he wanted to sign Arda Turan in January, but backed out after Atletico insisted that Liverpool not persue him further....
As we all know, Arda Turan is now a certainty to join Atletico...

The King may have lost out on a classy winger but belives Aguero is worth it...

Thanks
FZL(From S.Africa)

After Michael Owen's comments about this being his greatest achievement in football I would never welcome him back into a Liverpool shirt, I probably deserve that league winners medal more than he does. At least wat he won with us, when he was idolised by every fan, he earned.

Don't know if there is anything in those hoping you might have an insight..

Even though he has stated he wants to go, I don't think Aguero will leave. Nobody seems to be willing to pay his wages, except for Real Madrid, but I cannot see Jose being interested in Aguero, he likes hard working team players, strikers he likes to track back and help defend.

He is just not the style of player mourinho would usually buy. Could be wrong but unless he lowers his wage demands I don't think he will move.

Hi all,

First timer, so go easy.
Seems to me the only for liverpool to compete for the title next season is through local liverpool guts and hardwork, with a sprinkling of talent too, of course. Let city have every foreign player they like. Good english pro's working hard together as a team, id take everyday. Id prefer Downing to Young. Like the look of Adam, but not sure where he will play. I do hope not on the left of midfield, cutting in side...hate the phrase. I trust kenny and the boys to get it right, but for the record id have: Downing, Baines, Rodwell & Lennon. That should do it.

24 May 2011 14:17:58
Hi ed just a quick question for the people saying Aguero is signing in the next few days we can't even sign foreign players till June 1st can we?

{Ed002's Note - Although the International Transfer Window is not open clubs can still push ahead with negotiations and reach agreement over transfers.}

24 May 2011 14:14:49
Stevie G has seen what we can do in the last few weeks, with 2-3 top quality additions, he will realise that he has to up his game or fight from the bench.

His performances in the last 12-18 months have been below par for him, understandable as the quality around him was not great.

Now he has to show & lead like he has never done before. KK will have no hesitation in dropping him if he does not live up to expectation.

Plenty of others can be bought or promoted from the younger ranks. He also only has 2/ 3 years left at the very most before his body lets him down in his current role. C'mon Stevie, suck it up and go for it, or move aside and let someone else have a crack.

Just a quick question ed, edds, with the new rules about only spending what a club makes ect, ( sorry don't know them all ) do you think that player's will now take this into consideration when putting pen to paper, as they could sign for a club that is in CL ect, only for said club to be kicked out, as it would be for not living within there mean's ect. {Ed002's Note - No, players won't be interested in anything like the financial fair play rules.}

24 May 2011 13:53:12
Ed, with various players (Reina, Gerrard, Carragher, Lucas etc.) coming out an saying that they are already looking forward to the summer and next season, do you think it is because they know some deals for top players are close/ they have been informed who they are after?? Or do you think it is just having the Kenny factor back?? Surely the said players wouldn't be getting so excited about the prospect of Adam and Young arriving, no disrespect to either, I just feel that they aren't good enough {Ed002's Note - It is best not to try and read anything into anything people say. There are no secret messages.}

24 May 2011 13:43:54
Now, as far as i know, the 50mil pricetag that atletico placed on aguero was set up as a buyout clause yeh?, buyout clauses on long term contracts are based on potential/ projected value, not necessarily what the player is worth at the time, and is often used to scare off other clubs, so it is always named as a very inflated price. SO, quite simply, Sergio Aguero will not be going to another club for 50mil, he will be sold for much less than this, expect around the 30 mark realistically, as has been said, he is not as highly rated in spain as he is in britain. If reports are to be believed, bidding started at 25million euros, it will increase a bit from that, but unless man city come in with a stupid offer, the fee will not climb too much higher, maybe 20 to 30 percent higher. Why would any club make an initial bid of 50mil when they could possibly get him for much cheaper, why start at his overinflated buyout figure, when the player has requested to leave anyway???

24 May 2011 13:42:00
Ed is there any realistic change of us signing aguero, I think it would be a great buy as him and suarez Can play on the left and right and behind striker aswell as up top on there own , which will give us alot of options

{Ed006's Note - I don't know about our chances of signing Aguero. It would give us a lot of options but then we would have to start thinking about formations to accommodate the players.}

24 May 2011 13:36:34
Ed please post...reply to LJ4

I am Cardiff based and by no means have guaranteed info but to the guy who wrote about being a journalist in spain, i just wanna confirm that ive heard exactly the same, however my understanding was that there had been info leaked by Kuns agent during the period Kun visited maxi at xmas. This then put the deal on hold and no contract was agreed at that point, however Kun has now agreed terms and a fee is waiting to be agreed???? this sound right to u (journo)?

Ed can u give ur thoughts also please

{Ed006's Note - I have no idea where Aguero will go, I would expect either Real Madrid or Man City. If he joins us then great.}

24 May 2011 13:36:14
Ed 15 May has come and gone. Any news on Alberto Aquilini? 2ndly am I naive to think that Man U and specifically Ferguson seems to be on an unofficial mission to ensure that we fail to strengthen our squad. If today we are linked with Louis Enrique, Charlie Adam, Ashley Young, Matuidi, then all of a sudden Man U are also interested. If that is the case, I know that the King will devise the best strategy to outwit the Knight at his own game.

Mos

{Ed006's Note - I'm not sure about Aquilani, I do believe that he will leave though.}

MACCA MAY HAVE THE FREIDEL ONE RIGHT BUT THERES DOUBTS ABOUT HIS PREDICTIONS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO REGARDING ADAM YOUNG BENZEMA I THINK HIS LUCK HAS RUN OUT

Mehh typical no brain comment.
Things change , clubs decide to change players during the course of a season. Benzema started to bang in the goals so he is less likely to leave. Macca so far has not been proven wrong once. He mentioned Friedel its one thing to mention it on transfer roumour sites & its another to say we are close to signing him. Macca is again going to proved right.
Unless you start getting some inside news don't shoot the only REAL Messenger we have.

with Aguero coming out wantin a move away from athletico i was just evaluating the clubs he could possibly move to.
chelsea have been rumoured with neymar and are managerless at the moment, but they are definately in the market for another striker.
City if tevez goes he will be the ideal replacement but could tevez warn him off the idea due to lack of team cohesion and regualr fallouts with manager.
then there is madrid, would he tread across to the neighbours and stab athletico in the back. in my opinion i don't think he would.
not sure on the italian clubs involving finances and wages and if he would want to play at a boring level of football e.g slow paced.

then there is liverpool we have a good relationship with athletico with the deal over torres and luis garcia. also maxi is here and could persuade him into the liverpool way. i know we can't offer champions league football but we are a club on the up ad with a few key signings could be a force to be reckoned with.

Fellow fan's, please, take a step back and look at the whole picture. Yes there will be targets that KD & DC will have as 1st choice and if they don't get them all, there will be replacements for them. They have a plan, KD know's what he's doing, sit back, enjoy the ride and let the good times return. We are BACK we are LIVERPOOL FC and we are BACK!!!

Ashley Young was the most fouled player in the prem last season 96 times. Get him for the wing and use Gerrard providing the set pieces.

24 May 2011 13:02:36
Ed Just a quick question!

Why would we need loads of players (as per all these wish list and what not) to come in as we will only be playing in 3 comps and not Europe so no need for a big squad. I would see the hot prospects from the club and the fringe players getting game time in the cups leaving the same 18 or so to fight for the prem as per the 80's.

What do you think? {Ed001's Note - I have never felt the need for more than a couple of top class signings personally.}

WE NEED 6 PLAYERS AND I BELIEVE THE MONEY WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.
IN JANUARI WE BOUGHT SUAREZ NEVER EXPECTING TORRES TO LEAVE AND WE MISSED OUT ON OTHERS.
SO THE OWNERS WERE READY TO SPEND AT LEAST 50MIL IN JANUARI.
THEY ARE BUSINESS MAN THEY WILL NEVER RUN THERE MOUTH ABOUT A BUDGET.
I BELIEVE THAT WE COULD BE SPENDING 50MIL WITHOUT SALES IN THIS WINDOW.
US NOT BEING IN EUROPE COULD TURN OUT TO BE VERY HELPFULL, NEXT SEASON WE WILL HAVE MORE ANSWERS FROM THE YOUNG ONES LIKE THIS SEASON WITH KELLY FLANAGAN ROBINSON.
NEXT SEASON WE WILL SEE HOW WE ARE AND ADRESS THE WEAK POINTS.
I HAVE A FEELING WE WONT HAVE THAT MANY, WE ARE STRONGER THEN WE BELIEVE JUST A FEW PLAYERS NEEDED.

For anyone hoping Michael Owen will return on a free next season.
In an interview on SkySports he has now said that winning the premier league with Man Utd is the pinnicle of his career, he won lots with Liverpool but being at Man Utd and winning the league under a manager who is 'second to none' is the best he has done!
Nice to see Michael thinks so little about the things he won on merit with Liverpool, and how easily he can accept a medal for something others won for him. 11 Appearances mostly from the bench and its the pinnicle of his career!
I do not want this man anywhere near my club!

All these rumours flying around about various players but if you look at the bookmakers odds we are not favourites for any of them (only possibly Friedel because he is to old and no one else wants him) I hope we are not going to be to dissapointed.

24 May 2011 12:33:54
What do people make of Martin Skrtel?

Personally I think he's a solid reliable CB. He might be a bit rash at times, but so is Vidic - whenever he gets caught out he rugby tackles them to the ground. For me he's an excellent 3rd CB, behind Carra & hopefully Sakho (Agger needs to go I'm afraid).

What d'you think Eds?

Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - he has been playing better of late, but I still find him a little rash, I would rather look to get better players.}

24 May 2011 12:31:06
I can confirm Charlie Adam has been signed by Liverpool and Ashley Young's representives are now negotiating with the club.

For those of you who think Liverpool are going to be signing foreign talent think again, KK is wanting to restore the culture of the club back to what it was in 70-80s, and can only achieve this is by recruiting british talent.
-------------------------------------------------

Then that will really limit us in the transfer market. I believe you need a good core of English/ British talent but these players don't come up often and cetainly don't come cheap. Buying abroad means you get a better calibre of player far cheaper. I mean we signed Carroll for £35 mill and according to some of the posts we could get Aguero for similar money?

to all of you saying aguero will move to real madrid, he said maybe a year ago that he will never move there as he sees the club as 'like poison'... unless he is as fickle as mr fernando i don't think a move to real is on the cards for him... there is hope for us!

24 May 2011 12:27:50
A THOUGHT
i think its fair to say lucas is a much improved player for us this season, but would you say he is now top class? nar, he is still a poor distributer of the ball and i cringe when he runs up to an opponent to challenge for a ball, waiting for his customary yellow card, to think we have this type of player as player of the season shows just why we are not winning trophies, we are starting to accept second best, and some of the players we are linked with on here show why lucas is so highly rated, the same people are saying carroll is useless, before we bought carroll every one was saying how much of a handfull he was and would it be possible to buy him, give him a chance will you its not his fault he cost more than suarez and was injured when he arrived, people have to be realistic with injuries and the treatment and time needed to get over them, look at gerrard if hodgson or rafa was still here steven would of played till the season ended, then had his operation probably his 4th on the same area, he has played only half fit for far to long and next season he will show "the sell him now brigade" how good he really is and shut all the doubters up its the first proper rest and recuperation he has had for 10 years i am looking forward to his return i think he will turn the clock back, lets wait and see, bob paisleys skids

24 May 2011 12:27:37
Season finishes, and as usual the wishful thinking of fans start on here, for the last 2/ 3 transfer windows we have been getting aguero/ turan etc...

lets face it, it wont happen.. kenny will mainly buy british players... Adam/ Downing/ cahill/ maybe young (think united will get young)... if he does choose a non british player, that player will already be a prem player..
i know what you saying what about suarez.. he was not kenny's signing that deal was already done b4 he took over...

lets see how the window pans out, but we wont be throughing millions at players in the aguero bracket thats for sure..

24 May 2011 12:24:26
why would we waste a salary on a 40 year old villa reject and whats with the average players Nzogbia will always look good in a rubbish team like Wigan Adam is way overrated what happened to all the big names Enrique is also way overrated SORT IT OUT COMMOLI
------------------------------------------------

This is just a short term solution until one of the younger keepers has developed a little more. KK has realised that Brad Jones isn't good enough as a number 2. Freidel will be the number 2 but has shown in the time with Villa that he is still a competant keeper. For 2 years he would bhe good back up for Reina until Gulacsi or one of the other promising keepers advances a little more, my opinion.

Ed, there seems to be two schools of thought on this site. One is that we have loads of dosh to spend and another that we have a budget of around £25m plus money from player sales. I have a sneaky feeling that we might actually see this summer the club shell out a huge sum on transfers. This is based on the following analysis.
(1) We no longer have any material debt to service.
(2) The payments from the new premiership overseas rights deal are much higher than the previous deal (same goes for the shirt sponsorship deal).
(3) The owners have stated they want us to win trophies and they are aware that we need to buy top players. It is likely that they will have set aside from the outset a healthy pot for transfers. If this exists it has not yet been spent.
(4) Recent comments from KK and Comolli indicate that there is at least £50m available to spend this summer. We know this because KK and or Comolli have stated that (1) Suarez was coming before it was known that Torres wanted to go (2) The plan was for Carroll to be bought in the summer, and (3) the owners were disappointed that additional signings were not made in January. As KK has said we will be dining at the top table. Us fans will need to be patient but I am confident that this summer we will see at least 3 top quality signings join us. KK and Clarke at the helm, top signings and a plethora of youngster who are giving the squad depth will put us in contention next season. It is mouth watering prospect particularly once KK has give the squad a full pre-season master class of pass and move. Reality Red

Most of the liverpoolfc.tv media watch page is dominated by talk of brad fridel
So Would you say this is almost certain and out of ten would you give these players coming to play young alonso clichy baines Cahill dann phil jones. Adam and the return of Michael Owen

24 May 2011 12:19:14
Kenny has publicly stated, He will only buy better than what weve got. So questoin is, How do you better Suarez...?

24 May 2011 12:06:57
Hey Ed, do you expect the reported 2yr deal for Brad Friedel will in some part compose of a part-coach role for some of the young up and coming goalkeepers we have? It seems like a logical plan, playing backup to reina and playing some of the more minor games will give Reina more of a rest as well. {Ed001's Note - yes, I expect him to help out on the coaching side at the club.}

no europe next season, that should be the end of the Mata (or anyone else half decent)

rubbish. A Couple of season ago Bayern Munich had a bad season and what did they do? Signed Ribery and Robben. Not every team can have an excellent season but if FSG Commolli and KK can talk to the player and explain our plans and possible further signings and budget then players will sign. We are Liverpool FC and still a big draw no matter what Utd, City, Chelsea or Arsenal fans think!!

I don't know why people are so hard up for agureo sure his talented and can be a great player he couldn't even get into the starting lineup of argentina team at worldcup, his goal scoring ratio aint that good either.

Suarez is just as good if not better. player i would love to see play for us is mata his top notch and will only get better he is what we need for me his the best young leftsided player. Other options either get marin or hazard they really good as well.

One english winger would also be good for the team.

So Ken's back with his packet of cheese n onion.....

Look Rafa was interested in Aguero when he was a teenager and Aguero was just as interested to work under Rafa.. but parry blocked the move saying it was too much for someone of his age (just like he did with villa, bale wallcot and many others who prices later raised drasticly) So Aguero left for A.madrid.
Rafa's interest in Aguero never wained nor did Aguero's desire to join rafa at liverpool but liverpools agreement with A. madrid was simular to the torres deal that a fair price would be agreed between the too clubs when and only when A. madrid were ready to sell.. chelsea came knocking with a bid A.madrid could not refuse But Aguero names a silly wage price (roughly 1 million a week) as he had always stated he would join rafa... But now rafa has gone so has our chance of Aguero...

There may of been a chance he would of wanted to play alongside Torres either with rafa gone.. but that chance left with chelsea's capture of torres (chelsea knew that aguero would enjoy playing with torres and are in fact banking on it)..
But never say never.. liverpools deal with A.madrid still stands but i doubt with our current possistion, no torres and mainly NO RAFA.. agureo would join.. if there's a reasonably price we could afford him... and if he does in fact want liverpool WE COULD AFFORD his wages as they would probably be 100k but not much more... if he don't want to join.. well then we've no chance as he will demand something stupid... Remember also that aguero is married to maradonna's daughter and MOnster masch was maradonna's captain with masch here still we'd also have a chance in that way too...
The smart moneys on a move to Barca...

If we still had rafa n masch n torres then the smart money would of been liverpool... but the yanks n parry detroyed that deal so lets put it to bed...

Ed, what do you think to the possibility of signing David Goodwillie from Dundee Utd? He fits the bill for what we need in a back up striker. He's young and has the potential to develop under the guidance of kk, and wouldn't command a high transfer fee or huge wages, allowing us to retain funds for higher profile players in higher priority positions. We may have to compete with the 2 Glasgow clubs for his signature, but the draw of the EPL over the SPL should give us the advantage.

This just occured to me:

De Gea - Man U 18m

Reina + 15m in exchange for Aguero

Friedel - Liverpool Free

Who'd be ok with this, if it happens?

i was reading over the weekend about the consultancy role that hiddinck still holds for chelsea and it got me thinking, while rafa's still out of work why don't we offer him the same kind of role, love him or hate him he did bring some top quality players to liverpool, alonso, luis garcia, reina, mascherano and torres, yes i know he bought a lot of duds aswell but with his connections he might just be able to persuade 1 or 2 of the latin players that we're linked with to sign, any thoughts eds, guys ?

Sergio Aguero has been in contact with Maxi and is coming to stay fro the next 2 weeks has he has contract talks with kenny dalglish after a £25 million bid ahs been asscepted and Ashley young is coming on a £15 million deal with joe cole going the other way for Stewart Downing.
------------------------------------------------
Why would Ath Madrid sell Aguero for 25 mill? Why would villa swap downing for Cole? Go post sh**e on the mancs page lad. Unless your the manc... {Ed002's Note - I think you will find it is more like wishful thinking from a Liverpool fan.}

Asscepted sounds really painful.

What do folks think about Leverkusen kid, Renato Augusto?
I reckon he could be worth a punt. Ed002 mentioned a while back that we've had a long-standing interest in the player/ we've closely watched him.

So ed, do you think that interest could be firmed up in the summer? Would you think him a much better option than Young?
Talking about Young, rumour strongly has it that he's leaning towards the Mancs.

If true, then I think we'd have dodged a bullet there. I don't rate the kid. He's done nothing to convince me that he can be a consistently brilliant performer for LFC.
There far better options out there (Turan, Payet, Hernandez, Perroti etc).

{Ed001's Note - there is a good chance we could move for Augusto yes.}

cant think why we would sign him at 40 there must be something more offered.

Matuidi

Well he will be a fantastic back up keeper leading to a coach I would imagine. Good bit of business for the club imo. Also for me to as when I read the story on Twitter I logged on to sky bet and placed £100 on it at 10-1. The daily mail broke the story first, I just hope there right :)

This was the team that started against Villa 22nd May 2011:

----------Reina------------
Flanagan--Carra-Skrtel-Aurelio
-------Lucas--Spearing------
--Kuyt ---Cole --- Meireles
----------Suarez-----------

Lets be honest this will not be the team starting next season but just look how different the team would have looked if we have a fully fit squad.

-----------Reina------------
Kelly--Carra--Agger--Johnson
-------Gerrard--Lucas------
--Kuyt --- Suarez ---Meireles
-----------Carroll------------

Not a bad side at all, however we know at least 3 of these will be injured in a full season.

I am very excited about next season and I know it wont happen as players will be bought and sold but IMO if we started next season with the above team I wouldn't be disappointed after the last 3 years of hell LFC has gone through.

I remember last years pre-season and how bad we played in warm up games, can't wait for Kenny to have a full pre-season with the majority of the players if he does then BOOM I predict a great start to next season.

Just food for thought.

To this post:

"For those of you who think Liverpool are going to be signing foreign talent think again, KK is wanting to restore the culture of the club back to what it was in 70-80s, and can only achieve this is by recruiting british talent."

Why do people insist on ruining their potentially believable rumours by posting silly statements?

Yes, KK may possibly have a slight bias towards UK players, but he has also seen what overseas players like Suarez can bring to LFC.
Also, he is not a moran.
The very idea that he would rule out foreign players is ridiculous.

The discussion about finances or lack of it according to some people on here, saying we can't afford this guy, or we will be priced out of that guy by Citeh, Chavs or Manchester United. All I can say is, we will have to wait and see what kind of money we are spending in the upcoming window, this will tell us exactly how serious our owners and management are at getting us a shot at the title next season, I appreciate we have no CL or Europa to offer, but hey neither did Citeh when they started buying all round them. As I said if the management responsible for attracting new blood to the club are aware of our spending power, well then those approached will be also, hence making it only a matter of 1 season (next season) before we are back in CL. Maybe a season without the distraction of europe will be a help to our premiership aspirations as opposed to hindering it. Good news is all is quiet from within the club, as it should be now we have solid foundations again. Next season will be better, Kenny & Damien know this......the rest of us will just have to wait and see.

People surely are not mad enough to think building a team around spearing and lucas is gonna win us anything. Yes they have improved as players this season but its took 3 years to get to their recent performances, and they are way short of the quality required for us to put a title chalenge in. Gerrard meireless in centre mid, and another star midfielder planned.

Victor Obinna - Strong pacy and had a very good season with West Ham ** haha, don't think so! **
Sebastian Giovinco - Very pacy and tricky ** who? **
Leandro Dami o - Internacional (22 goal in 24 appeanaces) ** worth a go, depends on £s **
Renato Augusto - young and promising winger ** good player, definitely worth a bid **
Davide Santon = promising fullback ** yes, very good **
Freddie Sears - West ham ** young, squad player for now, potentially v good in few years **
Zavon Hines - WEST HAM (made Liverpool defence shaky in 2009-10) ** hahahahahaha **

Mate i hope your just guessing because if so then we're f***ed up!...England didn't impress in the world cup and not much has changed since then. i think a combo of english and foreign will be looked at. young and dan are the only english players that we are linked with that i wouldn't mind seeing at the club along with downing. but defoe never that, parker why? little spearing has signed a new contract and adam help 2-da. cahil won't come regardless boltons asking too much. baines never going to happen. i'd like to see downing/ young and marin for the wings along with marveux. bojan/ benzema up front. Diego AM replacing cole, matuidi CDM replacing poulsen. emilio izaguirre left back and dann at cb

why would friedel want to play back up???

--------Because he would get a coaching role in the academy eventually. And young goalkeepers such as Gulacsi and Hansen can learn a great deal from this veteran giant keeper. Top business and planning by Kenny I'd say. (PS. He still has it, Brad Friedel; remember the save he made against us this week, stopping Meireles' shot---top class!)

Yes, Commoli said last week that Suarez was always coming in January even without the Torres deal, and since Carroll was a summer target, they thought that since they had the Torres money, they might as well go ahead and try for Carroll. And both Damien and The King have said many times that they tried to sign more players at the deadline but couldn't get them done in time.

Ed would I be right in saying Andy Carroll was planned to be bought in the summer when we have some proper wingers ? Cheers. {Ed007's Note - Sorry, I can't help you with that one. Anyone???}

taken from goal.com

Werder Bremen playmaker Marko Marin has stated he could leave the club in the summer, if a big club makes an offer for his services.

The German international has been a success at the Weserstadion since his 8.5 million transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2009, scoring 12 goals and grabbing 24 assists in 89 appearances for Thomas Schaaf's men.

However, Bremen have endured a poor season, finishing 13th in the Bundesliga and failing to qualify for Europe next season.

Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham have both shown an interest in the attacking midfielder and a host of European clubs are also thought to be looking at the 22-year-old.

"If a big club comes in for me, I will listen. The chance to move [to a big club] does not come around too often. I am not saying this to push through a move, " the midfielder told Kreiszeitung.

Despite claiming he would consider a move away from the German club, Marin also confirmed that he is content at Werder.

"I'm happy here in Bremen and I could imagine myself staying here until the end of my contract [which expires in 2013], " Marin added.

According to the player's agent Fali Ramadani, Tottenham enquired about the availability of the player in January but no deal came to fruition.

lets hope we go for him as theres only one big club out of us and spurs.DORSET RED

How about Djbril Cisse as the 3rd striker? He still bangs them in for Panathanikos. And he is still only 29.

Just a thought. What do you think?

You have got to be joking, i wouldn't want this guy back if he was the last person on earth. Useless, not even worth posting something like this :P

Targets based on this site.

1) Jose Enrique £9 million / Aly Cissoko £18 million or around 10 others
2) Scott Dann £7 million / M Sakho £16 million or Phil Jones £15 million
3) Ashley Young £15 million / Stuart Downing £12 million / Adam Johnson £17 million
4) Eden Hazard £20 million / Juan Mata £22 million / Munain £12 million
5) Blaise Matuidi £11 million / M Sissoko £12 million or Charlie Adam £8 million. Alternatively keep Aquillani.
6) Aguero £40 million / Benzema £24 million or around 50 others.

Out of the above I think Enrique, Dann, Young, Mata and Adam are the most likely. Would prefer Adam Johnson and Sissoko myself. Mata is most unlikely but may come with the right package.

Any feedback welcome from Ed's etc

Ed. you can't deny interest from liverpool towards aguero . So there is still a chance for us to sign him . But you will say price is too high and wages are a roadblock . Price can be taken care of ( i am not saying there is unlimited funds and but if needed the owners will provide) . and if we can offer 90K for young we can certainly give 140 to 180K to aguero . And him going to real madrid is all tabloid no real interest or story. Bu we have to careful of Man city , they are our main threat in this market. i mean QPR can easily overshadow Man city as the owners of QPR are way more richer than these arab .
