Aquilani wants the semi final to be moved to Italy, so as he might have the chance of a run out :)

24 Jun 2012 22:53:55
Not a rumour, but R.I.P. Miki Roque.Such a tragedy to die so young. Looked to be a great young defender and I was sad he didn't mak the grade at Anfield.

One a red always a red.

Well done lads thought Glenn Johnson played well ,feel bad for Stevie but should keep his chin up ,had good euro himself ,go on holidays rest up come back refreshed thought Ashley young had bad euro fair play for stepping up but he very poor for me should have been on bench ,on a sad note R I P Miki Roque thoughts go to family and friends far to young to have to face such things but such is life ,lfc or not YNWA when it comes to cancer ,cancer is sum thing we all unite against ,sorry for being so deep

Sad for England but Liverpool players should be confident next season gerrard, glen and andy had a good tournament Kelly got picked, downing will look at youngs performances and think 'I can't be worse than that'. Seriously though a good rest I am optimistic about next season with a few additions and a lot more luck top 4 will be a certainy.

Sad for england they did not deserve it rooney was piss pore ashley young milner were s**t. what happend why didnt he play baines and why not start with big andy every one of our players sg gj even hendo give there all. man of the match glen johnson and john terry

24 Jun 2012 22:47:26
Andy Carroll was good when he came on, but got no support from Rooney. Bodes well for next season playing with Luis, I think they'll be a formidable partnership.

To be fair to Rooney he was gone, he should've been subbed but you can understand why hodgson left him on

24 Jun 2012 22:45:17
Right, enough of the England stuff. Get on the beach boys and have a good rest. Next season we need to start off running, not playing catch up or we'll get murdered in our first few fixtures. Stevie, Jonno, Carroll and even Hendo, you've done your best. Now you're back in Red shirts and no excuses next season.

Typical English performance. Decision to put Cole and Young in for penalties was painfully bad and entirely predictable. Young is useless but plays for Mancs so is glorified

Cole scored in a champions league final a month ago and is close to 100 caps. Seemed a good choice to everyone else he just missed end of.

Did Carroll put his hand up for a penalty and Roy went with others first? or he didn't nominate himself?

Young has had such a poor tournament, got a bad feeling when i saw him come up for the penalties.

Glenn johnson is not bad, from our carling cup win. maybe he should be given 1 spot?

if ur gonna hit it low, u have to have a powerful shot. ibra, gerrard, rooney, batistuta are some examples of players that can hit low, n score IMO. i just felt cole shouldnt have aimed low.

24 Jun 2012 22:39:04
Liverpool will sell Alberto Aquilani,Joe Cole,Maxi Rodriguez,Jay Spearing,Dani Pacheco,Brad Jones and Charlie Adam if possible. Dirk Kuyt and Fabio Aurelio have already departed this summer and Brendan Rodgers will be given whatever funds are raised through player sales to add to his transfer kitty which could be anything from £20-40m. Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nsame Bedimo, Gaston Ramirez,Gary Hooper,Ciaran Clark and Theo Walcott are all on Brendan Rodgers shortlist.

Watching England tonight fail to string 2 passes together, if BR wants to play his style of play he must go foreign without a doubt
5uarezTimes

Hendo, stevie, kelly and johnson may suit the style

24 Jun 2012 22:29:49
The way England played tonight was exactly how Liverpool played when he was manager.

Last nights game was weird.
It was Hodgson's Liverpool (England) and KK's Liverpool (Italy) in terms of one side being so defensive, negative and playing not to lose and the other side hitting the post, and seeing chance after chance go by without the ball being put in the net.

No Sources, No connections, None of that. But from what I can tell Liverpool will bring in a RW, ST, CAM and possibly replace some out going players Sig looks sure to sign on with Krasic favorite for RW, ST I have no clue.

24 Jun 2012 21:29:47
Glen Johnson man of the match tonight by a mile

Chris in Tamworth

Pirlo?

Pirlo for me.

He's had a great game. England best player tonight but I would give it to pirlo.

MIKEY

Sorry obviously I mean England's man of the match

Chris in Tamworth

Eh, for England maybe - but Pirlo was a couple of classes above all the players on the pitch tonight
5uarezTimes

Nah Chris, England's MoM maybe.
But Pirlo was head and shoulders above everyone else.
Cute pen too.
The Real KB

Agreed. Shame about penalties again.

Gh*lfc

I wouldn't even say he was England's..Scott Parker for me or SG or even JT it pains me to say.. Johnson and Milner had a mare down the right..
Davey Liver

I have to respectfully disagree. Despite a bright start he spent a lot of the first half on his back side from his own volition and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing like the rest of the team. Pirlo was by far the best player on the pitch. England should have shut him down to stand a chance. Nobody in an England shirt deserved to be anywhere near MOTM. They worked hard all tournament but eventually hard work is not enough.
Davey Liver

Pirlo, closely followed by Montolivo

I would replace johnson with clyne and have a major overhaul of the england squad.

24 Jun 2012 21:22:28
Guess the english are seeing the real football Roy plays tonight, they are unable to find a player nearly every time

That's England's problem no matter who the manager is

Chris in Tamworth

24 Jun 2012 21:21:35
is ashley young a double agent or what cos every time he gets the ball he passes it straight to pirlo, thank god we never signed him he is worse than downing and adam put together , waste of space !!!

Absolutely.
He is a shocker, can't defend either. Left the flanks totally exposed.

eds do you think sigurdsson will be a good signing?... not saying hes not a good player just if his style of football fits well with liverpool. thanks. {Ed002's Note - He would add an extra dimension to the squad.}

The media think sigurdsson is a done deal to spurs to replace modric or van der vart who are both probably leaving

24 Jun 2012 20:48:10
Ashley Young is having a mare!

Young is doing my head in. Thank god we didn't sign the lightweight. Not a particular fan of Milner but he should still be on and Young off.

He's had a poor euro's.
Rooney is lacking too. He's not fit enough but is an automatic nod.

In thought AY was a mare!

I'm not one of these people who claim to be in the know, or end my posts with "you've heard it here first". But I work in the same place as Stephen Caulker's dad and according to him, Stephen's close to agreeing a new contract with Spurs and will be wearing the No.3 shirt next season. I'm just posting this beacuse I know we've been linked with him lately. He is a very talented defender to be fair.

medy elito was strongly linked with us a few years ago apparently rafa rated him very highly. he's still only 22 and has pace to burn so would he be a realistic target if we can't attract walcott or hoilett?

anyone else thnk gerrard is wasted in this english system, he needs 2 holding midfielders behind him and to play off rooney

total waste of his attacking attributes

tom1975

I hope Gerrard as his greatest defender here on this site gets some fooking sense and retires after tonight

Why he would want to continue with this tripe is beyond me it can't be the money can it?

24 Jun 2012 20:23:17
Starting with welbeck might be a good choice. Keeps the game ticking over.
This game has a very good chance of going to extra time.
Carroll coming on late as a sub will be the last thing in the world tired Italian defenders will want to see, coupled with the pace of Walcott, they could do some real damage.
So I understand the decision although I don't rate welbeck at all really, Carroll is the better player, but Carroll will offer more as a sub than welbeck. Carroll doesn't have the fitness to do what he does for 90 mins plus extra time.

MIKEY

Spot on with the subs, but not the impact I predicted. My tactics must be as crap as roys.

MIKEY

I read the subs and the expected impact
exactly the same as you mikey.
I hate to admit it but I am a Roy clone as
well.
Just shows either (a) how difficult it is to be a manager or ( b) how poor our players realy are.

Marco {Ed001's Note - whereas I think it is idiotic to bring Carroll on as a sub, you bring on pace to attack tired legs, not a big man. As for starting with Djimi Traore's lesser twin brother, Welbeck, that is just lunacy, he is utter cack. Secondly, it was dreadful tactics that lost the game, sitting off and watching Pirlo play is just imbecilic. Spain would have been in his face and winning the ball back high up the pitch. England were on their own goal line defending.}

Love it Ed1, welbeck ? I can't see it at all ? Have I got my anti MU goggles on ? I don't think so, even my well informed manc mates think he is well over rated. Roy needed a 451 with someone taking care of pirlo.
The ridiculous space he got meant either Roy is an imbecile or welbeck and/or rooney cant follow instructons or pirlo is god.
Red Derry

I agree ed001, Roy's tactics were poor Ashley Young is the worst player I've ever seen attempt to play football. And Carroll really should've started, he is twice the player Welbeck is. The Ox should have come on with pace as well but alas it never happened.

I was just wondering if any of the Ed's think that Krasic would represent value for money and if it shows signs of moving in the right direction?

Personally, I think it would represent a complete waste of money. The guy is pretty useless at finishing, something we hardly need any more of. Plus he has hardly set the Italian league alight - why would it be any different in the Premier League?

There are much better wing options around Europe. I'd rather we went for a complete unknown with outsatnding potential. Ajax and Porto sign players like this all the time, then sell them for Tens of Millions if they eventually want to move on. I'm supportive of the owners and BR and I do trust that they will make moves to make things right this summer. But in all honesty, is Krasic going to add anything more than Downing?

Fowler99

Young outsanding like sterling, krasic aged 27 is an ideal man to come in and do a job there until sterling is blooded

From an Irish fan

This game needs gerrard lett off he leash to attack more and andy carroll to dominate their cbs

24 Jun 2012 19:17:33
Just seen the starting line up and may be its me but am I the only thinking how is Wellbeck getting a starting place in the England team. I have watched him and just don't get it, yes granted he is okay but still baffled how he is retaining his place. Andy Carroll deserved a start tonight, I hope he comes on and fires England through to the semi final also hope Stevie G AKA captain fantastic does his usual stuff. The media seem to have this fixation with Wellbeck and have Roy convinced.

Ashley Young is another one who must be counting himself lucky to be keeping his place and I don't know where to begin with Jame Milner and his cutting inside and not offering any width whatsoever.

LFC4LIFE - ADRIAN

I find it funny how so many LFC supporters are now moaning about it not being right that Carroll is not in starting line up for eng, yet most of you have been asking for him out quite aggressively since he came to liverpool. go figure

hi eds
could someone please answer me this:
is the below targets a possibility?

a.johnson-16 mill
sturridge- 15mill
t.walcott- 12mill
kalou- free

i know we will get sig come 1st july but i believe the above names would bring great attacking potential to anfield road along with sig as he is the man to replace steve g and if we cashed in on skrtle we would have the cash to sign these players, but are they realistic? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Haha, where do they get those prices? I'd value walcott 10 million more than sturidge and johnson will be off to spurs as bale's replacement

24 Jun 2012 18:14:29
i see wishlists have changed again since we have been 'linked' to rodriguez and rondon. a couple of weeks ago it was tello and krasic. why is it when a paper links us with a player they are all of a sudden in the fans 'wishlists' and who they think the team should get in. bet they never seen them play before getting rumoured to them.

I beleive people thought they were not available before hearing of these links.

A sale on Suarez this summer is not very smart since his price will double after next season.

What about Kjaer, instead of Skrtel - that would be a better deal?

I would really love Liverpool to sign Nicolas Gaitan, is their any interest ed? And do we have interest in Guiseppe Rossi? Spurs are favourites to sign Sigurdsson now and it looks like were gonna miss out on Bendtner to Malaga, Moses to Chelsea, Matias Suarez to Arsenal and De Jong to Newcastle. Caulker has said he wants to return to Spurs. Borini has signed for Roma.

GET THE FINGER OUT BRENDAN

At this rate our biggest signings will be the return of Cole and Aquilani. Disaster.

Chelsea have Hazard and Marin wrapped up and their in for Hulk. Arsenal have Podolski and Giroud on the way and maybe M'Vila. United signed Kagawa and Powell and maybe Willems, Lewandowski and are also linked with Modric, Cabaye and Strootman.

What has happened to our club? Are we a small club now? Nobody wants to play for us. Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel and Suarez are been linked with moves away.

Im starting to think Brendan Rodgers is not the man for the job, Too small time. He was shocking at Watford, Sacked at Reading and was ok at swansea.

Not looking forward to next season, We could finish in the bottom half of the table

Graham YNWA

Not the man for the job after a month ha! Fickle or what... Sig will sign for us, arsenals signings are unproven and just names at the moment, have a little patience will you..

G BOX

So you say rodgers was shoking at watford, sacked at reading and ok at swansea maybe he will be brilliant at liverpool, we wouldn't want bentner (the name says everything 'bent'),moses may not go to chelsea, m.suarez could still go to anyone and who says we want de jong also how can managerless spurs get siggurdsson.

Lil red

You are the eternal optimist, aren't you Graham?!..And yet you suffix your name with YNWA...Do me a favour...Rome 77 ps it's still only June, for gawd sake...

The transfer window is not even open yet! The manager has been at the club for 4-weeks and hasn't even managed a game yet but imbeciles like you are starting the abuse already.

How on earth are we meant to have any success when people aren't prepared to give managers and players any time.

And perhaps you need to learn what YNWA means before you use it to sign off with.

JRG

Brendan Rogers was 'Awesome' at Swansea - a young Brian Clough in ability during his 2 years there .

Dont forget Diame turned us down for West Ham and Kalou turned us down for Schalke. Nobody wants to play for us, Times are bad. greg

Oh do shut up Graham. All this negative stuff about BR is boring. Just lets all see how he does. And are you upset that bendtner is not coming to LFC??

gareth

I highly doubt that this will happen. Even if it does, don't you think Rodgers will simply just move on? And bear in mind, it's the uk media we're talking about. Just typical of some 'fans' writing us off before we even begin though. The mind boggles. Sensible thing to do is cut him some slack and see how the transfer window goes before the season starts mate.

Afternoon Ed, if Skrtel were to leave do you think we would have another look at Cristian Zapata? I believe we have been linked previously.
I have been a fan of Lovren for a long time but I'm not sure how realistic he would be

If Juventus want Luis Suarez,i would tell them offers over 40mil,not to long ago they messed us about with aquilani,These italian clubs think they can take the p-ss with LIVERPOOL F.C.....

I'd refuse to deal with them! There's plenty of other teams after him (although I'd rather he stays obviously). It can make the old lady think twice before treating a club with that kind of disrespect again. Same with Milan!

Even if Suarez wants out like at least I have confidence the club won't accept anything under 50 million (just like Torres) he is a one of a kind player who we could not replace or afford to lose. 18 mil plus krasic is a terrible deal he's worth so much more. Et

While i think you are in dreamland if you think Liverpool will get anywhere near £50 million for Suarez, i would agree that £18 million plus Krasic is pretty bad business.

Eds,
Keen to know you opinion the on the overall ability of Krasic whom we are reportedly interested in. From the clip I've seen on YouTube he seems to be in the Dirk Kuyt mold; as in a player with high work ethic but lacking in technically ability. Hope you post and cheer in advance for your response {Ed022's Note - Oh for goodness sake. www.player-profiles.co.uk - there is a profile devoted just for Krasic - it explains his strengths, weaknesses and general ability! It also covers where he will likely be playing his football next season etc. Just look at the profile.}

My opinion is the oposite technical abilty but no work ethic

24 Jun 2012 17:22:48
suarez would get into real madrid's or barca's first teams, earn more money there, play with better players, win more things and achieve even greater fame, as well as living in a spanish speaking country with nicer weather and therefore a better standard of living. if he stays with us this summer considering he's in his prime, then we can count our lucky stars

I doubt it very much that you are actually one of us!!

24 Jun 2012 17:22:41
Hi eds,
All this talk about Suarez leaving is a bit worrying but I don't think anyone will know the truth till he's practically gone. Hope he stays. Skrtel to stat aswell. Best defender last season. As far as sigurdsson, I don't rate him enough to sign him for Liverpool, even borini, y is rogers looking at these players? Surely we should be aiming the bar a tad higher!. It's most concerning eds. For all those negative "fans" out there saying we cant attract the big names and everyone is beating us too our signings i would just want to point out a few things
alonso was not world class when we signed him
mascherano played for west ham
we paid the same for torres as we did for suarez
we won the champions leauge wit djimi traore as our left back
i dont ever seem to remember us signing luis figo for 35M or Zidane for 40M or Eto'o for 30M
when have lpool ever signed the most wanted european talents?
yet we have still managed success over the years with the right mentality and management so trust in LFC and get behind the team! YNWA!

Gman

Alonso was world class from day one, as for masch he would have played for anyone just to get in the country and get his reputation up,he was never going to stay there as soon as a big club knocked the door and no club with any sense would touch him with a barge pole because of his dodgy circumstances,

24 Jun 2012 15:47:51
I feel Mr.Anderson and other members of L'pool council are trying to manipulate a Groundshare.Wish they'd accept we at LFC in majority dont want it.And let us crack on with own plans, and help, not hinder us in doing so.After all the local area will benefit. And like it though they may not, they cannot deny that.

24 Jun 2012 15:44:53
hi eds and all, I know we were really interested in de jong, but what has happened to let us give him up to newcastle? it just seems odd that we just let him go.thanks

24 Jun 2012 15:40:54
Luc guy-how long have we been reputedly after him,and now Gylfi? Then we end up in a battle. Why does this always happen at LFC? Summer of sagas,Euros or not!

Hi Ed's
Any more news on Junior Vicosa, and anything concrete form Ed002 on Rondon?

Thank very much Ed's

Btw. I'm not sure you can pick a favrioute Ed, as all have brilliant different Ed like qualities. {Ed022's Note - Nothing new at all. Ed002 isn't around at the moment either, she's out feeding the homeless citizens of Mexico.}

hello everyone, sorry to be one of those doubters but why would Randon leave Malaga fc who are in the champion league to join Liverpool fc who are in the europe league??
Your views would be very helpful thank you

Martin Skrtel has only played one 'great' season for us. If he thinks the club are no longer up to his standards then 'adios' to him. Stevie G alongside Agger/Coates/Kelly would be much more solid and creative. Hold out for 30m from City for MS. YNWA

Sorry if this has already been answered, but does any of the Eds no when Gylfi comes back from holiday? {Ed022's Note - No I don't, but reports say July 4th.}

I keep hearing rumours about James Rodriguez. He's a brilliant young talent but I'm quite sure we'd have to break the bank for the lad. Is it just a case of journalist throwing Liverpool into the mix or do the rumours have any legs?

24 Jun 2012 13:42:25
Ed022, What do you think Suarez's best position is? This leads me to ask do you think we need a winger of a striker more?

Gh*Lfc {Ed022's Note - Well it's an interesting debate, but statistically speaking it's on the left side of a front-three. I personally think his best position is in a free-role behind a striker, not acting as a CAM but in a free role to either go left, go right, or go through the center. I think a player of his ability needs freedom to just play football, rather than have a strict 'this is your position' kind of thing.}

Nice to hear your thoughts and I also agree. What is great is that if he did play there we have a defensive rock in lucas to avoid him tracking back and a midfield dynamo like gerrard to always pick him out. When gerrard plays in the hole its so frustrating as he always ends up in a dm position trying to get the ball.

Forgot to sign Gh*lfc

24 Jun 2012 13:28:42
ed, have you heard anything about Xavi Valero back to LFC. Reina was excellent, under his guidance. Thanks alot. YNWA Trustme {Ed022's Note - No I haven't.}

Looking for opinions, do you guys believe that krasic is an improvement on our team and would be a good signing? I heard top clubs were interested in him a year or two ago.

I think Suarez' best position is the missionary position or doggy style! miami_red

It isn't such that if we don't get a few star players we won't succeed. I wish people would stop thinking that. Rodgers' style of football is what made Swansea, a team with zero star players play so well and regularly beat the top sides. Imo we should be looking forward to him getting the best out the players we already have and unearthing new ones, rather than expecting the club to shell out another 100m on well-known players who might not even fit in. Liverpool are in a very difficult place right now competitively and our best chance of getting into the top four is dare i say it the way Tottenham did it a few years ago, by creating team rather than buying one. So just have some patience. We don't have to do everything the way other clubs do it, lets just focus on doing it the Liverpool way and hope it pays off.

Gh*lfc

Gh*lfc

There is another reason ...

if we do really look rodgers as a long term plan then, both him n club should have some experimental time. he should bigin with what we have..(a striker n creative MF. is must barring this...the defense n wings with downing n co. looks good enough to start with. if handled well. ) may be till January he will have a clear sight who is needed n who is not.
so may be just a striker n creative MF. IS ENOUGH.

n i do think with a right combination we can hold onto a good position in the table , come January .

Hi Eds,

I think that we need to sign:
-A CENTRE FORWARD.

Given that Mr BR likes to play one CF in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
We have to give A.Carroll and L.Suarez a competition upfront.
I'd be happy with S.Rondon.
-A RIGHT WINGER.

D.Kuyt has left the club,so we have to replace him.
I'd say that,M.Krasic could do the job.
-AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER.

Sigurdsson looks nailed.
-A DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER.

Back up for Lucas,i think that J.Spearing isn't fit for it.
I'd be happy with M.Badelj or another underrated young player.

We should also hold on D.Wilson to replace F.Aurélio who left.
I'd also give some cameo in the cup games to the likes of:
R.Sterling,Suso,Coady,Morgan,etc...

If Skrtel or another leaves we should replace him.

If you agree with me,then click (believable),if not then (unbelievable).

Thx,Eds.
Cheers.

Ed, Skirtle for £20m and reports that Vertohgnen for £10m, I dont get that. The lad was vice captain of Ajax and can play. Has he actually agreed to sign for spurs, and which side of the CD does he like to play? {Ed001's Note - Skrtel plays in one of the top leagues, Vertonghen plays in a poor league and struggles to get into his national team. As he often covers at left back, I would assume he plays left side CB as well, I really don't know, I haven't seen him play much.}

To be fair to Vertonghen ed, he does have to get past Kompany and Vermaelen to get a spot in his favoured position in the national team.

To the original poster, Vertonghen is also in the last year of his contract, which also significantly reduces his value. But Skrtel is a better player from what i've seen of Vertonghen

I believe we were keen for saldado, however as circumstances have changed,I believe we will pursue rondon as we have serious interest in him. The lad has all the attributes to be a top top player and striker and he has more potential and is younger than saldado so if we sign him I will be very excited for next season and the future. On the wings,I believe krasic is a real possibility. He is technically excellent and is a very good player,he is not a decent downing,he is an excellent player if given a run. Also sigurdsson is a young good attacking midfielder and had the potenital to be an excellent player. Our last transfer windows have been dissapointing to say the least but if krasic, rondon, and sigurddson were to all'sign then we will have a quailty top four challenging squad for next season with the emergences of young gems such as sterling, suso and coady'. I believe in BR and this new lfc era so get behind the team next season and the real supporters will be constructive not destructive' on this site

more of a view than a rumour, but I hope we sell skrtel, not because I don't think he's good, because I do, he's a beast. But, how can we turn down 20m plus for a player who is largely one dimensional. We could get a very decent replacement for 10 m and put the remainder towards other targets. However, do we even need a replacement? Coates needs to be given a opportunity to prove himself and with cover from Kelly and Carra surely we should take the money and see how Caotes performs up to the xmas transfer window and buy a cb then if he isn't performing.
Personally I think Coates has the potential to be better than Sktrel, certainly as a ball playing defender, but we'll never know if we don't give him the chance

Andy H

Problem there is we will have 2 ball playing defenders on the pitch and both want to go forward as much as possible to help out the midfield who will cover up the mistakes from the defender who is up?

Hello All Fellow Reds.

I am concerned at what is going on at the moment but do keep thinking that would Brendan Rogers of joined the club if he couldn't get what he wanted.

Also it has always been Liverpools way to keep quiet about Targets, but today I hear Spurs are moving for Gyfii. Are Liverpool still in command on this one or is it possible he will go elsewhere.

Also When do people think liverpool will make there moves or have they already and are just waiting until 01st July to announce.

I think Liverpool should invest all the money on wingers and a proven striker. I don't think we have a bad team and I think under the right manager good things will happen, what do you think eds ?

Hi Eds & Reds,

To the the unnamed poster, I would not worry too much mate. The international window has not open yet and it'll be another 4-6 weeks befor Brendan rodgers can full assess the whole squad due the squads member participation in various competitions.

In relation to Gylfi, Rodgers knows exactly what he'll bring to team and deal expected to be concliuded late this week.those who are reporting a deal is in doubt are only doing so in order to drive betting odds up, its quite a common occurance nate, dont be too worried

If it was August 24th and we had not established any transfer targets i'd be more concerned. There is no point buying players essentially for the sake of it.

Brendan Rodgers will assess squad gradually and develop targets from there.

Dont panic just yet mate, all is good.

Its difficult to imagine who might be joining LFC this season, especially if a number of our top players potentially leave (Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Suarez), but it does present some interesting conundrums for (
Its hard to see Skrtel staying, but he would certainly bring in some extra funds (we should sell for more than £25m).

Lose all them and may as well give up!

24 Jun 2012 10:45:47
Hi Eds, great site by the way
Just wandering if we do sell Skrtel (not sure in truth if this) then would we buy a replacement or would BR have faith in Coates or maybe Kelly in CB
Thanks
Matt S {Ed001's Note - I would expect a replacement to be sought, due to the fact it would be 2 down in terms of CBs really, as Carra is unlikely to play much.}

Think you're right ed, especially when you factor in Agger's injury record.

I saw someone mention Godin a few days ago, and I think he would be a great addition, considering he and Coates have also played together at international level.

RedSG

Kelly and Agger are a bit injury prone. Thats why, I persume, if Skrtel leaves, there has to be a chance of new CB. YNWA Trustme

After consulting with the eds, I have come to know that, Krasic, Sigurdsson & Rondon are the 3 realistic targets. I would be very happy. Never wanted AJ or Sturridge. Personally, I would be glad if we sell Carroll as he's a flop. Would love to see a Suarez & Rondon partnership.

SUMON VAI

Did you not watch Carroll in the last quarter of the season? He was immense and will continue to get better. If we sell him now I'm sure we will live to regret it.

BthekingB

Caroll is not a flop, and if you were a decent supporter you would not publish this sort of rubbish. he has tremendous potential for such a young lad....get behind him and the team and stop using forums like this to slag our players off!

tel 1949

Yes, sell him just when he is coming good. Did you not watch our last few matches.?

Carroll has looked good in the Euro's, he should definitely be given another season to prove himself. There's always room for another quality striker to partner Suarez.

Ignore the imbecile. He is obviously one of these 'fans' with a personal issue with Carroll and uses every post to abuse the lad regardless of how he is performing because he isn't Aguero or whoever else is flavour of the month.

Carroll will score goals if he is given the right service. We need him to score goals if we're to have a successful season. All people like this are doing is trying to knock his confidence.

JRG

I guess u are right about krasic sigurdsson and rondon.

rumour has it stevie g has been the best player at the euros-you heard it here 1st

Why because he has done 1 good cross in 3 games. Ronaldo has been the best by far. {Ed029's Note - The same Ronaldo that nowhere to be seen against Germany, missed chances against Denmark and has scored goals against two struggling teams or the Steven Gerrard who has been world class in 3 games so far against some good teams

That is not a rumour, it is a fact.

2nd poster clearly a Manc... Gerrard has been class, and get off our page you sad git

Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Iniesta perhaps?

Gerrard has been good tbf, was great against Ukraine ad England's best performer by far until now

Lescott goal France

Carroll goal Sweden

Rooney goal Ukraine

Ozil as been boss for Germany and Scott parker been Englands best player.

If u only watched the highlights, u only see his assists. ive watched all 3 of englands games. n sayng that gerrard is the best player for england currently, sounds about right. Gerrard was EVERYWHERE.

Ozil and shiewnsteiger have been good too.

24 Jun 2012 10:57:07
I have been thinking about team formations and transfers.

I would like to see LFC sign 3 key players, Striker (we need to replace Kuyt), creative midfielder, and attacking winger.
With this in mind we could adopt a very interesting formation.
New striker to partner AC up front, move Luis to right attacking side, new winger on left (or roaming about). Gerrard/creative midfielder, and Lucas in midfield. Backline Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson/Kelly and Reina in goals.

What you guys think.

We seem to be linked with several players from Pro Soccer 24 lately, Gaitain, Rondon, Marco Bueno, Rodriguez. However all the" stories" seem to have come from their agents. All deliberate to try and push up their value. Whats particularly annoying is the value of the players in the rest of europe against the value of the same players linked to english clubs (almost double in some cases)
Is that becaus of the prices we paid for Henderson, Downing etc...

Is it just me, or is there anyone else out there who fails to see what Welbeck has to offer? I agree, he's not a bad player, but feel he'd be lucky to even make the squad if he didn't play for Man Utd.

He was awful in the last game and, even in the Sweden game, if he hadn't scored that winner, it would have been another mare.

With Chiellini out tonight, there's no doubt that Carroll should play, but I fear good old Roy won't like to go against the Manchester obsessed press, who have already picked the team.

redmersey {Ed005's Note - I agree. I think Man Utd fans massivly over-rate the fella although he's a decent enough player. I'd be delighted Italian defender if he started over Carroll.}

Carroll will defo start tonight, him and rooney will have there defence in bits.Welbeck is a good player but not a great player,i dont personally think hes international class but others might disagree with me. England 2 0 tonight.

Your spot on Mate with this observation!
Carroll and Rooney would be a great partnership up front.
Besides being a constant threat upfront, Carroll holds the ball up well and is also a
great defender against opposition corner kicks.
Carroll will be great for us next season!
2009 Captain.

Couldn't agree more, his work effort can't be questioned cos he does work hard but to me that's not enough cos u have to have a bit of quality about you when you face world class opposition and to me he's quite limited, he was with Sunderland season before last on loan and wasn't even mentioned for England but now back at United he's a regular, can't get my head around it

I agree. But I actually felt a bit sorry for Welbeck against Ukraine because he was so isolated, and Rooney was supposed to be the link player but constantly gave the ball away.

Rooney's the lucky one to keep his place in my opinion. There seems to be this media driven belief that he's the saviour of English football. Referring to him as world class is embarrassing.
He's capable of the odd moment of genius, but they're few and far between

Joe

I'm a Man United fan and the reason I like welbeck is because he's and extremely hard worker he seems to have a great understanding with rooney and he scores some important goals for us
maybe compare him to kuyt for yous when he was younger

Completely agree! Carroll came on and made such a massive impact he better start tonight

I hope Carroll starts, would do his confidence the world of good! A confident, fit and firing Carroll I think is a much more dangerous than a fit and firing Welbeck.

RedSG

The Iti's are past masters at finding answers to defensive conundrums. Don't be surprised to see SG man-marked. Extra time tonight maybe, even pens.
The Real KB

Carroll is a better players than welbeck. Him and rooney should start tonight, without a doubt.
Ashly Young should also be benched as he is playing rubbish and is toooo greedy

Its Rooney that should be dropped, Welbeck and Carroll were doing just fine.

For me, Carroll and Welbeck are simply different sorts of strikers. Given England have been playing rather more defensive, long-ball type football, Carroll just makes more sense than Welbeck I think as his hold up play is much better. If England were to play a more aggressive game with say a front two and Gerrard as more of a CAM, then might go with Welbeck and Rooney instead. All depends on how the team set out, I think.

RDL

United fan here, I actually agree to a degree. Wellbeck hasn't impressed me at the Euro's and I feel he has a lot of improving to do before being thought of as a top striker. I think had he not scored the late goal v Sweden and his chip in the friendly a few weeks ago he may not have been such a regular. Many posters on the United page say we don't need a new striker as Wellbeck should partner Rooney up front. I have disagreed as I don't see him as good enough YET

I disagree though that Carroll is a much better option. He could get on the end of a cross and score the winning goal, sure. But if he doesn't I'm not sure he'd offer as much in linking up with Rooney and the rest of the team. I know he is good at holding up the ball and laying it off but that's hardly groundbreaking stuff. I feel there is a bit of a bandwagon starting with Andy following just 2/3 good performances at the end of last season and a goal the other night. Perhaps he should start because Chiellini is out but I don't rate Carroll that highly tbh. Cannot see him being a regular 25+ goals a season man

Gav

P.s.

Rooney should not be dropped haha! Joke surely?

Say Suarez got suspended for 2 games and Carroll and Kuyt had done OK in his absence - would you have wanted KK to stick with those 2 or put your star man (who can make things happen) back in the team?

Hypothetical I know

Gav

sigurdsson in a 8.5 million deal will be liverpools first bye of the window the midfielder is currently on holiday but will finalize deal next week on his return

borini is next on the list for around 9 million his joint ownership has now been sorted leaving liverpool with just the 1 club to deal with

huntalarr will be the expected goal machine we lack with just 1 season left shalke will sell for 16 million and liverpool are top of the waiting teams.

expect this as liverpools starting formation next season.

ed..great site...
i wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate xabi...noting related to transfers...
boy how much we love you...you are an exceptional player and one of the greatest gentleman on and off the pitch...
he has won all the Liverpool fans heart..coz he truly deserves it..

if anyone wanted to be a complete midfielder..watch him..

well done xabi..
we love you..and with us..you will never walk alone...

Xabi Alonso played well last night and had one or two outstanding seasons for us (and some average ones).
He now plays for some Spanish team where, I presume, he's on good money and playing well.
Let's not demean ourselves by putting the bloke on a pedestal.....almost deifying a player who served us well enough but has now moved on. Maybe we should move on aswell?
Xabi Alonso was a fans favourite, was a big part of Istanbul, scored some breathtaking goals and was part of a very decent midfield but there are younger, potentially better options out there without having to turn the clocks back.
Next season we could have some quality midfield options......Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Siggurdson, Shelvey, Elm, Adam, Classie ??? Who knows who we're in for? But Alonso would be a step backwards in my opinion.
Let Brendan Rodgers get on with building the future and let the past stay were it belongs.
ANFIELDPETE

ANFIELDPETE, please tell me these average seasons... he was our best player every year he was with us apart from 08/09 where Gerrard was the best in the world.

He was on par with Messi!

Wow wow wow wow wow........ WOW!

Easy there fella...

Red7.

Come on lad Suarez is a good player but no one and i mean no one is on par with messi hes in a totally different world than any other player {even ronaldo} in the world,i know we love suarez but lets not start being stupid and give other fans a reason to have a pop at us, Messi is for me the best player since Pele. Lee

Tell me again how many goals did suarez score this season and how many did messi get,you post is so deluded mate, messi is the best ever and suarez is way out of is league,i think you might have them liverpool goggles on lad. Bri

Is only thing messi is better at is finishing, but the rest i agree they are on par.

Messi's main feature is dribbling but suarez is just a slippery as messi only more so because he makes defenders believe they have the ball then the next thing you hear is "WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT".

At International level Suarez is better for Uruguay than Messi is for Argentina. Which was proved at the World Cup and Copa America.

So I'd say Suarez might not be on the level of Messi but he damn sure isn't that far behind him. For me he is in the top 5 strikers in the World.

and BTW Gerrard is hands down better than Xavi.

Relax guys , he only said he was on a par with him in that SPECIFIC GAME.

"and BTW Gerrard is hands down better than Xavi"

Hi Eds & Reds,

Great to see Xabi Alonso score 2 goals last night in a man of the match performance.

I've got a question for Eds & fellow Reds, I really really dont like Platini, as far as I am concerned as long as he is charge of UEFA, he'll do his best to make sure that goal line technology wont happen, as well as this if he had his way and he has been quoted as saying he'd make football a non contact sport. The question I have is, How long a tenure does Platini have at UEFA and do any of his possible successors share a different stance than him on goal line technology?

Also I dont agree with extending the Euros out to 24 teams, altough this would give countries like my own country Ireland, a greater chance of qualifying, I believe a few years time that I would not be suprise if was extended again out to 32 teams and you end up having a Champions League style Euros, IMO, if you start extending out now this will devalue the tournament only lead to further extension and further devaluement.

R_R {Ed005's Note - In all honesty I don't know when there is another UEFA election - whether they do a certain amount of years then have another election! I hope it's soon though. And if the Euros are extended it would give lesser nations around Europe, especially Easten Europe, a chance to appear in the competitions however I hope not, can't be bothered with LFC players being away for longer and the standard of football has been awful so far so I personally don't want an extension of it lol.}

*****BEST EDITOR COMPETITON******

Vote for your favourite editor here.

Favourite - ed1
{Ed005's Note - If your going to do this no-one start with the swearing or offensive comments.}

All of them, they do a great job!
skurks

In the interest of fairness and so Eds wont get stroppy with one another, i'd like to say all eds are equally good ;) (brownie points lol)

R_R

Don't like to single out EDS but ED005 gets my vote.

ED002 can be a bit acidic. However over all the most fair and mature of all the EDs.

Please note this is not a criticism (I am not perfect either) and with all the Sh*te you have to put up with you do a wonderful job.

AnCo

Tough one, it's between Ed001 and Ed005.

Sorry 001 but my favourite is Ed005

Congratulations!

Tristan

Ed 022. He must have to put some serious effort into those player profiles.

It's ED02 for me. Although respect to all the ED's for their hard work. Top class site.

ED01 - The Godfather of the football rumours revolution.

Papa G

All of them. Without them ALL we would have nothing. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Robbie

Yeah ed022!

Bond is the man, ed007 every time

Ed016 and Ed022 for me! Love them both!

Pete

1, 5 and 16

Eds. 001 022 005 002 ,makes no odds they all work as hard as each other and are all legends , cheers psv

Ed002, has to be the best, simply because he knows his stuff and not just on Liverpool matters but all sorts of sh#t about footie in general. He must be a footie agent or something along those lines.

The Irish Rover {Ed001's Note - I vote 002 as well.}

My favourite Eds are...Mister Ed, Eddie Waring, Eddie the Eagle, Radio Ed, Smack Ed and Right Said Ed.
The Eds on here are all good enough to give their time and share their opinions and info. And what for? Apart from the obvious kickbacks from ads...what do they get? That is, apart from the hero-status, internet dosh and freebies...what do they get?
Ed 001 gets my vote as he's the Rumour Godfather. The founder. The Don. The one with the biggest yacht.
Ed 002 is sexually ambiguous....an enigma....possibly a Chelski fan (I like to imagine a page 3 stunnah who plays pool, drinks pints and loves laughs and footie). Reality is probably a fat bloke with acne who likes "World of Warcraft", light-sabres and cheap cider.
Ed 022 (I believe) is the one who compiles info on various players we've been linked with. Good on you mate. Seriously...that's some effort. If you want a girlfriend, and this isn't related to your efforts, my wife has a friend.....
Ed005 has had a steady season...nice one mate.
ANFIELDPETE

Ed 022 for cert...

BLANCO7

Hate them all ! .... only joking, thanks to them all.Great job

I am surprised at the lack of support for ED002

Just remember when Ed001 and probably other Eds (i don't know) left the LFC banter page cause it got toooo hot ED002 stayed there and brought it under control.

No I am not an A** kisser and will probably end up on the wrong side of ED002 in the near future (not from being an A**hole but from differences of opinion) however fair is fair and ED002 deserves a lot of credit.

AnCo

I havnt got a favourite Ed, they all do a fantastic job. Not just on this page but also on the Manc page. Were Ed007 is always good for a laugh. And he does not just stick up for the Mancs but he sticks up for what is the truth and is not biased or bitter at all. Another reason I think that Ed007 is one of best. Is because he is a Manc/Celtic fan but when us LFC fans go to the Manc page he plays with an even playing field. Which is all we ask for.

I would love to say nice things about Ed002 but we'd never hear the end of it. lol

Ed 001 for the history (Must be getting on a bit now though 001)
Ed 002 for the wit, sarcasm & banter (very clever bloke IMO).

well done to Xabi Alonso last night made up for him wining his 100th cap and scoring two goals man of the match in my books he really is a top man on and off the pitch now there is a world class footballer never mind all this rubbish about rooney being world class i know they play different positions but still xabi is light years a head of rooney who isnt fit to clean rushie's boot any way now there was a true world class striker rant over

.

Xabi Is the best midfielder in the world imo. His performance brought tears to my eyes. We all used to idolize stevie n torres for making us competitive, but it was xabi who had been pulling the strings all along. I really want him to come back n give us the flair n passing composure that we so desperately lack in our sub standard midfield.

He will come back as SUSO

Better than Xavi and Iniesta? I think not

Hi guys keep the faith commercially these owners have done more for us in 18 months then the previous 30 years of being run like a corner card shop with 0 business or commercial foresight ! Were playing catch up I had business meetings with the club 3 years and was staggered at how bad commercially we were compared to where we should be thank god for these owners !

Unfortunately the owners have 2 problems.

1. They know nothing about football and have no passion for LFC.

2. They have little interest in LFC except from a money making perspective.

And three (thought I sneak that one in) they are as poor as a church mouse compared to the Sheik and Roman. {Ed005's Note - Mate they know a lot about football off the field - probably more than me or you given the research JWH did on LFC and football before buying the club. What they realise is that to get a return on their investment LFC need to get to the top again - which involves taking measures to get us there.}

The same owners who can't afford a new stadium which they implied they will build when they took over. The same owners that will have to sell to buy. The same owners who sacked kenny and gave the job to a guy with one years PL experience. These owners are clowns just like the old ones. They will sell all our best players to the highest bidder. They don't care about liverpool only baseball and making money. {Ed005's Note - They can afford a new stadium - but why would they dish out £300-400m of their own money on a new stadium - why would any businessman? They want to make the right decision regarding a new stadium. Would you rather we were £400m in debt again with a new stadium? They want to make the right choice and are working with an awkward council to do so. They don't have to sell to buy either there is no proof of that - one thing they can't do without CL football is spend spend spend especially with the FFP rules coming into effect.}

Wake up and smell the roses. Its obvious you have not read or understood any of the interviews or updates.IN summary why would any owner build a brand new stadium that would cost in excess of 350 million if you only gained an additional 15000 seats over your current stadium . Its sheer madness.

All options have to be carefully assessed then a decision made. This will be for the longer term benefit of this Glorious club. If you dont like it go and support some throw cash round like confetti team

REDFORLIFE

005

FSG may know more about football than you but they admit themselves they were shocked at the team they inheirited so much for their research?

Any genuine LFC fan could have told them they state of the club that what using consultants does, eh FSG?

They are not in the wealth bracket of Roman and if someone of his ilk thook over the club they would not bat an eyelid at 400M for a new stadium as its less than Roman spends on one of his poxy boats.

You like FSG thats okay some of us don't and that okay but lets call a spade a spade.

Razor Ramone

LFC have messed the Anfield residents about something rotten for over 20 years though Ed. Although there's plenty of Toffees around there too who don't want to play ball.
The Real KB

If you're anti FSG, there are good arguments, and if you are pro FSG, there are also good arguments, it depends on your perspective. Personally, I don't like the way they changed managers, but I am cautiously optimistic about them. I am prepared to give them time before my 'FSG out' flag gets made!

I think anyone who either hates them, or anyone who thinks they are the messiah are both wrong. But I do think they deserve some time. I am most pleased that they seem to not be wanting to sell suarez, so that is good news - if they do sell him for any reason they give, they will go down quite alot in my opinion. At this moment in time, they have my support, but they need to continue to show that they have LFC's interest at heart.

Nick

Why do our owners get criticized. they saved our club from administration. they are proven. they gave us two of the most exciting transfer windows that we have seen in recent times. they are looking for a way to build a stadium. they are building a good structure to the club. they are buying exciting young prospects. i don't get it . the glass is always half empty with you people.
derryred

Who are the exciting young prospects FSG are buying?

Hi eds, A great site on it all the time, first post though. I wish we would all calm down, as much as we would all like top level marquee buys we have to be realistic were behind money and champs league players Chelsea man u man city arsenal psg real barca Bayer and ac Milan. Saying that to be up beat it's about scouting and bravery are scouting has been awful for years decent Spanish players were down to Rafa hence hiring 2 of man city chief scouts recently who have a great youth team would rather saints scout bale, Walcott and Alex o. I would promote suso and sterling to first 16. Keep faith guys remember arsenal years ago veira, petit, Henry got ball rolling and didn't beat anyone much to land them ! Also remember Alonso, reina, agger, masch we have brought players and turned them into stars. Let our youth Kelly, sterling and overs cover the British quota the best talent is abroad by a country mile let's get back to basics and start buying proper talent we could have got a bale,Walcott or Alex o every fan new about them so where is our club football isn't complicated buy the obvious usually pays off !

May I post this ED?
Saurez doing us proud in exhibition in Miami. His 2nd was great.

Chi-Paul

Are there any extended highlights for this? i mean 1.54 minutes for 14 goals? come onn. but yes, his 2nd was delicious. exactly the suarez i know.

That header from Rondon was pretty good too.

Eds would you be more happy with Gylfi signing or Gaston Ramirez signing? Personally if we could sign Gaston I'd pull the plug on the Gylfi deal no disrespect to Sigurdsson who is a decent player but Ramirez oozes class and sends shivers down my spine when I see him play! Who would ye prefer?

Cheers,
Irish Redman {Ed005's Note - Sigurdsson is better than decent mate. I personally think for the prices mention he is an absolute bargain and the type of signing we should strive to make. It's a shame that people can't see his true ability on the field by watching him rather than look at the fact he played for Swansea last year and judge him based on the fact that he isn't from Barcelona or Real Madrid and cost £40m. Sigurdsson has it all - creativity (we lack in abundance), great passer, excellent movement (something that cost us last year), great first touch, great brain, can score goals, great technique, very composed on the ball. I'm happy with this like, and if we could sign 4 players of his ability this Summer I'd be delighted. I like Ramirez too, but not enough reason to pull out of the Sigurdsson deal in my eyes.}

It's the same old story eds. They're the stats patrol.
Stats and other off-field appraisals are for people who either don't understand, or simply don't watch the game.

Red7.

I agree with Ed 005. Hopefully we get him and he becomes the bargain of the season.
KJS

Red7 sorry I have seen Sigurdsson play many times this season but I've also seen maybe 10-15 games of Ramirez too, I'm asking this question because of the rumours of the deal wirh Gylfi stalling and possibly falling through.

Ed005 how is siggurdssons long passing? {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk - there is a profile on Sigurdsson. 005 isn't currently around at the moment, he's out fighting penguins to protect fish.}

24 Jun 2012 02:06:12
Ed just saw Rondon play in the world masters 2012 comp with messi,Suarez, drogba ect. He looks great but would he fit into Rodgers attacking style? {Ed005's Note - Of course he would mate. He's quick and he's a good finisher, strong, great in the air - could easily play in a wider forward role if required and has the ability to bag some of the chances our players missed last season.}

If he could keep up with the likes of the players in that and still look like he belonged with them, then to score a screamer. He'll work just fine.

And James Rodriguez scored aswell......

Now i'm beginning to think it's journalist making stuff up linking us to players that took part in the all star comp. James Rodriguez and Rondon next it will be free agent Seedorf.

But to be fair I'd take all of them and Seedorf to on a one year deal.

I'm watching the world soccer masters tour and suarez just done some magic and scored some great goal...wow we need to keep this boy, james rodriguez looking good aswell as nene....ohhh suarez has got his hat trick... :)

Just a thought, okay if we are in a bidding war with the mancs for rodriguez, and interested in rondon and the quoted figures are correct for both these alone will cost near 50 million...sig another 6-9.....do people reli think were going to be throwing this kind of money around again? get a grip lads!

If we get 20 mil for skrtle pluses the 1 and 2 mil here and there for the fringe players that need to go will give us near 30 mil so it's only actually around 30 mil for all 3 players you mentioned. Not too unrealistic in my view.

In-james rodriguez, lewandowski (doubtful i know but we can but hope) and of course sig!
Out- aquaman, spearing, maxi and pacheco who i dont rate at all!
Im not saying this is what is gunna happen as i am not in the know at all, i am but a hopeful red! What do ya think of my choices eds and fellow reds?

Would love j.rodriguez at our club, but unfortunately he will probably end up at the scum to replace cry baby nani.

I have complete faith in BR. He made some very shrewd signings and loan moves while at Swansea. He is very talented at selling a club to prospective players. I'm confident he will sign the players he wants.

I saw someone post awhile ago about Steven Caulker potentially moving from Spurs. He would be a great signing because he is exactly the type of CB that would work under BR's style of play. I think he is in the mould of Agger.

It is difficult for me to understand why people want Liverpool to sign Kjaer. I actually think Agger makes him look much better than he is. He always seems out of position when I watch him.

I saw a few of the editors would like Andre Schurrle. He would be a phenomenal signing in my opinion. He reminds me a little bit of a right-footed Adam Johnson (except younger and without attitude/off-the-field issues).

If we could sign Sigurdsson, Schurrle, Caulker (for the future), and a poacher then I think we would easily be in the top four next season. I know Schurrle is a stretch, but Sigurdsson and Caulker seem probable and possible respectively. My ideal poacher would be Lewandowski. He offers more than being a poacher, but he seems to have a very good positioning.

Thanks!

CSeiling

I really like the 4 signings you mentioned although I do think we need a young back up dm, possibly classie? Other than that I think your spot on. CQ

CQ,

I agree. I think we need a backup dm. It is difficult to pick out a player who would be good enough, but who would also be willing to sit on the bench while Lucas is healthy.

This may sound a little crazy, but I actually think Henderson has the ability to be the next Scott Parker. He is a hard worker, and he doesn't seem to be afraid of making any tackle. Since we already have him, I would really like to see him shaped into being our defensive midfielder down the road.

If not, then I think Diame would have been a good signing. With him out of the picture though, it is difficult to pick out a decent player who could slot right into the team. M'vila and Sandro would be great, but we would not be willing to pay that much money for either of those players. Schweinsteiger is the best DF Mid in the world in my opinion, but there is no chance of him leaving Bayern.

Tiote - no, Ramires - no, Song - no, Toure - no, De Jong - probably not, Rodwell - no, and I cannot think of many other players in the Premier League who would be worth pursuing.

Outside of the premier league: Gago - probably not, Busquets - no, Khedira - no, Javi Martinez - no, Javi Garcia - no. We'll see what happens, but I do not think we have many decent options.

I really do think Henderson can do the job if Lucas goes down, and I think he is our only realistic option.

Thanks!

CSeiling {Ed029's Note - Blaise Matuidi is a good DM and has been linked in the past.

Lars Bender as DM for me!
K79

How about Coady as backup CDM? Haven't seen him play a whole lot, but from what I have seen he looks decent and I personally think a better option than Spearing. Or is he not quite ready if he had to step up for a
longer period of time?

RDL

Benat from Betis or Claise from Feyernoord. Just saying.

For the price of m'vila we could get classie and wanyama and have 10m+ to spend.
