hello eds.
hello fellow reds.

just read more about Liverpool.F.C history and the great meaning behind "you'll never walk alone".
It made me proud and emotional to celebrate and support such a great club. This year I learned a lot about this club and understood the passion of fellow supporters.
Wish u all a merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous new year.

Thank u eds for u r efforts.

{Ed002's Note - Have a great holiday.}

RE: Your post, the meaning of youll never walk alone is from a soundtrack to a musical called Carousel, something which i'm sure Liverpool fans in the 60's would of watched all the time.

It maybe perhaps that Gerry and the Pacemakers did a remake of the song and it was catchy, along with a lot of the beatles songs at the time which the kop would sing. Its down to Bill Shankly, who heard this song being sung, decided that this would become our anthem.

Hi edds and fellow reds. Happy Christmas to one and all. if it has been asked before I'm sorry. This SUPER formation Rogers has bee n using. is it his coaching coming to the fore or was it suggested to him. also with Manquillo and Moreno available why are they not being selected

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I am told it was his idea, though I doubt any idea is ever truly free from being influenced by others. He can take the credit though, he likes the back 3. Those 2 aren't being selected because he prefers other players in the wide areas in this system.}

I like us with 3 at the back as we look more organized and comfortable. i'd play Moreno as our LWB/LW as he is made for that role but to be fair Markovic is doing a good job.

Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to all he eds and fellow fans who make this site what it is.

Agree2 Disagree1

Thanks for the reply. just to nagg a little more. what did Rogers say that made Salah turn us down

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Ed002 has explained that repeatedly if you use the search function.}

Moreno in for Henderson, Henderson in for Gerrard, Can in for Lucas? That is until one of those three upset me, then I'll never play them again!

Mmm, I might have a go at this Football Manager malarkey, seems pretty easy lol.

Hello everyone and merry xmas.
You may not have noticed but i have been away for a long time. Looks like my experiences in Crimea did offer some value after all.

I am pleased to read some of the banter posts that i have missed, and i hope to be able to make some minor comments as i go along

Regarding the reds, we are making some progress and personally i am pleased with Lallana, Markovic, Sterling, Coutinho, Can, Alberto, Manquillo and Ricky Lamberts contribution when they have had the chance.

Not all is lost boys, you never know, if our 'soot juggler' Sturridge comes back things will start looking good again. Fabulous ball control and skill, can't wait to see him playing again

Happy xmas from my hospital bed !

Just saw the Rodgerspress conference. Stating that Ballotelli was "struggling to adapt to our style of play". This raises many question:

1. Had Rodgers seen Ballotelli prior to signing him?
2. With a lack of goals, is Rodgers still so stubborn that he can't tweak our play style to get us through the sticky patch? Ballotelli needs service, and he will score.
3. Ballotelli must be have played his last game for us, surely. Otherwise, Rodgers has made a mistake by stating he's not suited to us.

Last couple of games, I actually thought Mario plated well and was unlucky. He's prob on his way, but I wish Rodgers had done more to make it work. He was probably a "committee signing" anyway :-)

Believable2 Unbelievable5

24 Dec 2014 12:31:59
Far from truth, Ballo was not born yesterday and he played in a much similar 4-3-3 with one up top whole an year at Milan.
They don't have a diamond or 2 up front.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree that he has struggled with our style of play which is to score more than the other team.

Agree1 Disagree0

Our style of play ? What style of play ?
Oh, you mean hundreds of short passes to one another in our own half. Then passing it back to the goalkeeper ?
Or hundreds of short passes in our own half which breaks down and the other team score from this.

Style of play ?

We have a handy Christmas were 3 wins are very possible 9 points could turn this season around

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Mystic meg post!! Here we go!!

Agree0 Disagree2

Day dreaming post more like.

Agree0 Disagree1

I'd love to share your optimsm dezyboy, but it looks like we'll need 70-72 points to get 4th place this season- depending on whether the gunners have a great run of results.

To get that total we will need to get an average of more than 2.6 points per game from now until May, which means winning five out of every six games.

Miracles are always possible of course, and with a fit sturridge maybe we could just possibly scrape that number of wins, but if you were a neutral you wouldn't bet anything on lfc getting 4th place. Especially not with a very average back up keeper starting every game.

I think we might have a heroic surge up the table when we have a good striker back in the first eleven, but it will be too little and too late. The truth is that Rodgers has almost certainly already blown it, thanks to a terrible first half of the season.

Why have we ended up with the current reserve goalkeeper scenario?
Why did we gamble 16m on a marquee striker who didn't suit our playing style?
Why do our defenders keep losing concentration, or being beaten in the challenge by a player showing more determination, as skrtel was for arsenal's first goal?
Why does he insist on playing Gerrard, lovren, johnson and enrique, even at times when they were clearly not in very good form?
Why did it take half a season for him to find a formation that finally got some good performances out of the squad?
These mistakes are too fundamental and too big for the owners to ignore.

Agree3 Disagree1

Yeah all fear the mighty
Burnley
Swansea (ain't half bad to be fair but very beatable)
Leicester

Tell me there not winnable ??

Agree0 Disagree1

In the Crazy World of Brendan Rodgers he thinks that three draws would be impressive.

Agree4 Disagree1

Dennis, replace the word 'impressive' with 'outstanding'. there ya go

Agree0 Disagree1

Swansea ain't half bad?!

The arrogance of Liverpool fans always astounds me.

Swansea have been playing good football this season. They've got an inform striker, and they've sorely missed a few individuals in the middle of the park.

Why do we have to belittle other clubs? Some people on here did it vs Basel and ate their words. It really gets my goat when we should be thinking Swansea is a guaranteed 3 pointer.

Agree4 Disagree4

You can never tell with football.

On paper, Burnley should be an easy win.

But. . .

Easy games over the Christmas period.

Then Lucas off to Fiorentina.

Followed by much speculation as to who is coming and going.

Fred Karno's Circus.

Agree0 Disagree1

There all winnable games

God this site is depressing
Last 2 games we played decent miserable #^@&£% $

Also to all eds may I take this opportunity to thank you for all your efforts this year. Have a great xmas and new year.

Enjoy the festivities as its only a couple of weeks before the madness of the transfer window!!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Enjoy the holidays Archie.}

24 Dec 2014 05:47:26
Hi Ed002,
is it OK to put an offer for a player before the window is open? Is it possible the clubs work out a deal before the transfer window is open on Jan 1st and then complete the paper work? Or is it that the clubs mustn't make any contact about a possible transfer before the window is open on Jan 1st? thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - All the work can be done in advance Tom. People are negotiating year round in some cases.}

24 Dec 2014 10:01:47
Ed002, do you think any major transfer would happen in this window across clubs?

Merry xmass to you Ed. Keep on pouring info and have fun.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - "Major" is subjective but certainly agreements will be reached for some significant moves for the summer. It is possible that a couple of moves in and out could happen with Real Madrid. Elsewhere I am aware of an agent looking for a new home for at least one very expensive striker.}

24 Dec 2014 11:07:33
I am assuming that expensive striker is Cavani Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - He is indeed being hawked around again.}

24 Dec 2014 11:07:54
Ed002 expensive strike cavani? Maybe you can't say Ed002 just curious. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is.}

24 Dec 2014 11:32:05
Thanks Ed002 any idea were he might end up?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see anyone buying him at the asking price.}

24 Dec 2014 11:32:35
Thanks Ed002, I have one more to you, As this is just curiosity.
Do you think there is a chance Higuain ll move in jan or Summer, if so which club likely?
He is one of ma fav player and wonderful striker.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don't see a move in January.}

My guess would be Cavani to City

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City are subject to sanctions that will continue to restrict their business Chris. I don't see how such a move is possible at this time.}

24 Dec 2014 14:23:57
Just to make things clear. This is NOT Ed002 saying Edinson Cavani is joining Liverpool on the 1st lol.
Arsenal to shock us ed and sign him?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Not at the price being asked. This is something for the Arsenal page or the European pages.}

If PSG are looking to recoup the whole transfer fee they paid for Cavani, then they are deluded. They should not have matched his release clause in the first place. No way is Cavani worth 65 million euros, 40-45 million max. I really cannot think of any top team that need a striker like him or afford him in the first place, he will be stuck at PSG for a while imo.

Agree0 Disagree1

Cavani is overrated i believe, doesn't have the element of responsibility or vigour that other top strikers have, at least that's what I've seens when I've watched him, just doesn't play with enough balls and passion and arrogance.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Dec 2014 08:30:51
Ed's, Reds, and EMS.
I read an article form BILD saying Joachim Loew may be looking at a return to club management? He does not seem to have done much at club level before?
We all know how well he has Germany playing football, albeit with an extremely talented group of players.
Anyone on here have further info on him? Would he be a viable option for LFC? I have heard his name linked with Arsenal before.
All I really know about him is that he picks his nose and eats it? (as seen on soccer am)

Either adam has a huge fan following to be mentioned separately or no one regards him as human :-D ;-)

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't think it's for any reason other than I am always willing to offer an opinion. I don't consider myself to have superior knowledge to any other posters Reet.

Regarding Joachim, my dad would be bitterly disappointed as my mum would start watching the games (he is firmly wedged in between Hugh Grant and John Bishop in her 'dream husband' list).

I think tactically and in terms of coaching he is absolutely class. I'm not sure what he'd be like at building a team though because Bayern Munich basically hand him a ready made team for the international side. Would hebe willing to work under a DOF to help him with the transfer side of things is the better question. There is no disputing his credentials as a coach/tactician.

Agree0 Disagree2

Also Reet, I am not human. I'm actually Ewok. Ahriibaaa

Agree1 Disagree2

Reet I like most on here follow good posters and value their opinion, although sadly their are a few who I'll dismiss, and don't read as soon as I see there name.

i know there is a lot of fans out there who like lucas and think he should play instead of allen or gerrard, i think we should cash in on him in january because he has not been the same since his injury, plus we could use Can instead, it would give Can a run of games to get into the pace of our league and to get better with the same opportunities that sterling had to get better the same can be applied to Can, I see jordan Ibe getting a run of games at derby and getting rave reviews, so i think if Can gets a run of games then he could become our main Def - Mid which could add some needed stability to our defence all the top sides in europe have top Def - Mids, plus i think lucas is too light weight who does not offer that much anymore, i may be wrong but i doubt it, only time will tell even Markovic and lallana has got better in the last couple of games

Believable6 Unbelievable9

I've always been a fan of Lucas. He plays from the heart that bleeds for the club. But the injury has definitely changed him. I think a Napoli switch is in the making and I'm sure he will do well there too.

Agree0 Disagree4

Id rather cash in on Allen thanks, Lucas offers a solid defensive midfield protection that Allen and Gerrard are incapable of, personally I think the centre midfield should be can and Lucas.

Agree6 Disagree2

Mrdennis, he did do at one time but after his injury he has not been the same in his defensive duties, he is not that good, there are better Def-Mids out there plus we have Can who is a lot better, he is bigger and stronger and can pass the ball forward, jay spearing bled for the club and ran his heart out and put a 100% in each game but because he was small people never gave him a chance, as I've said we have cover for lucas so we should get has much money as we can for him,
