Macca, I agree about not knowing why the dislike for Sturridge. The bloke may have an atitude but maybe that is b/c he isn't the main guy and strikers want that 'persona' of being the big guy on the block.
I think when he is in liverpool being the "Man" you will see him differently.
Give him a shot. The style suits sturridge IMO.
Sturrige? "The Man"? At liverpool? If that's true we are f....t
Sturridge will be the next in a long line of flops.
FSG should seriously take a look at the scouting department. The only trouble is, they wouldn't have a clue what they were looking for.
The reason why Liverpool used to be good was because we signed good players. Now we are average because we sign average players. Simples.

Chelsea are pleased with the business done in selling Danny Sturridge to Liverpool for £12 million.
The Daily Mail says Chelsea are satisfied they are banking a healthy profit on a player with only 18 months on his contract, even if a seven-figure slice of it goes to his former club Manchester City.
In three and a half years, blighted by doubts about his attitude and his reluctance to listen to advice or instructions, only Andre Villas-Boas really gave him an extended chance in the Chelsea team.
Don't slag it off when you don't know the full facts, it sounds plausible.

who thinks Clark should be bought from Aston Villa with Caragher getting near the end of his carear and Coates not good enough Clark would be a young cheapish option to be the 3 choice defender and is proven in the Premiership
Coates is well good enough - a future world star centre half.
What makes you think Clark would be cheap? Villa will know if they have a decent player or not and they would quite rightly ask for a decent fee which would probably not be what we would look to pay at the minute.

Just watched the 1st part of Rodgers December interview on Redmen TV. Got to say I was very impressed! His position on agents is great to hear. In a nutshell he said that he's not a manager who wants a player then asks for him and says," well you sort that i'm the coach ". He said he will give his input into what he feels the player is worth and reading between the lines he's saying he will tell the club to f**k the agent and the player off if there takin the p*ss. And his backing and opinion of were Stevie is at the minute is brilliant . Would urge you all to watch it ( especially the Stevie critics ), talk is cheap I know but his reading of various situations is excellent.

I watched the 3 parts. I am very impressed with him. I know he'd be a guy I would run through a brick wall for. Deep thinker, charismatic and an exceptionally humble man. As a newly self employed business owner I draw a lot of positives from people like that. Some of the best 80 minutes of video I've watched in a long while. We will succeed with him for sure.

It is my understanding that Sturridge did not ask for a clause in his contract around playing a central role, I don't even think that the Premier league would even allow it anyway
I also mentioned a few days ago that we had made a second bid for ince and I now I believe te eds have confirmed it

If we buy Sturridge and Ince i feel we only need another keeper to push reina and a CB for squad rotation, Carragher not good enough now and Coates isnt at that ability yet.

Salomon Kalou is 3rd on my list of least required former Chelsea players slightly ahead of John Terry and miles ahead of Graham Rix.
He is selfish, arrogant, opinionated and most importantly rubbish at football.
Chelsea used to churn out and sign some fantastic players with character and individuality pre Abramavitch - Kerry Dixon, Graham Roberts and "Honolulu Baby" Dennis Wise plus a bewildering array of no hopers and never has beens.

Downing deserves a spot in the team on boxing day. I believe you cannot split Lucas and Allen on their ability of how they play. They both are intelligent players however I think we play better with Lucas in the team ... also we should of NEVER got rid of Carroll as he was finally improving ... we gave downing a chance and never him! in my opinion this was a bad move as I think he would of started to get back on his A game. The evidence for this was in the F.A cup final Vs Chelski! He was more confident and his touch was supreme like he was a world class player! We can dominate games but just can't score hence why we need Carroll back or a replacement (Huntaler, Villa etc)

Just watching Williams kicking the ball at Van Persie's head and yes it was bad but lets think about it differently. If it was Williams kicking the ball at Suarez, would United fans be saying Williams should be sent off, or Suarez for his reaction? Just something for everyone to think about, opinions are welcome.

At the end of the day, does it really matter....?
He didn't kick the ball at RvP's head. He was doing what any player in that position would do - try to clear the ball out of the area. It was no more deliberate than when Smith got in the way of Riise's free kick and it nearly tore his leg off.
Fergie's reaction was to deflect away from RVP's reaction - Alex F is a master mind player...
Rvp should of been sent off for his reaction towards williams but as usual the ref rubbish himself coz he was scared of ferguson scholes booked takes swansea player out with a worst tackle than he got booked for and nothing done it is becoming the norm to watch manu get away with murder its about time all clubs made a complaint to the FA

just a quick question, when will Borini be returning from injury? I think before he got injured he was being played out of position, and i think the potential signing of Daniel Sturridge, could see him playing more central, which suits him better. Personally i think he could be our next Dirk Kuyt {Ed002's Note - Mid January.}

The three forwards will probably be Sturridge, Suarez and Borini. They will rotate through each others paositions across the front. Stop thinking that players stay in a set position. Rodgers's 4-3-3 requires them to continually swap about while on the pitch to confuse the opposition and drag defenders out of place.

Luis Suarez has to report to the referees room before kick-off to have a saddle fitted. Stoke are concerned that Shawcross could fall off Suarez's back and hurt himself. Can't be too careful with health & safety!

Now I changed him and get Fellani and Mirallas of Toffee. Soon Mirallas injured and NOW Fellani is out of head butt. Now I bought RVP he had 1 assist. Let see

Almost every rumour on this board concerns strikers,can we please stop with this. It's son unbelievable. We have:

Borini will be back around late jan after rehabilitationa nd regaining match fitness. Carrol will likely go in Summer which is when liverpool will go for a marquee name much cheaper.
Liverpool do not need any more wingers or forwards we now have that covered. Liverpool need another left back and another cdm/cb. we have no decent cover for when enrique is injured and downing doesn't cut it t the position. We play agger out there and we are exposed to pace.
We need another versatile cdm as we clearly miss lucas playing that role. It would be handy if they can play cb as we need good cover there,for when carra retires and the other 2 get injured.
To that extent can any one inform us as to who we are monitoring in those positions. I think ogbonna would be good as he is left footed and quik and could maybe adapt to leftback cover as well as centreback. I have no idea on a CDM though.
I think you missed the most important thing in summer...goal scoring, creative number 10

Secondly, I wanted to talk about Sturridge... IMO ever since his city days I thought he had a huge future ahead of him, a little like Bent when he was at charlton. It's pretty clear when you watch the guy that he does have a lot of talent however right now he lacks the decision making mentality.
I personally think BR will sort him out and turn him into the player everybody expected when he first hit the pitch at city. Improve his decision making and you've got a energetic young lad who can play across the entire forward line and score 20+ goals a season.
The lad has Talent it just needs to be channelled correctly.

Stoke's defenders have been grabbing the opponents and stopping them from moving in the penalty area. Recently a player was banned for headbutting the defender.
The question is are ref going to take notice? All they see is LFC players diving and disallowing our penalty claims. question is have we been given a single penalty this season? I await this battle to find out what the refs will be doing when our players get grabbed and pushed around.
Suarez will be watched too closely to use Fellaini's tactics. I would use quick passing and entice Stoke in to committing their usual rash challenges. I believe we will be awarded a penalty at the Britania.

i have to say.....ALDOs opinion on allen and the team with him and lucas in the starting line up is EXACTLY what some of the fans here were saying..earlier in the season..
that...allen although is a good player...he doesnt make forward passes..or has the creativity...like gerrard to make things happen........EVEN paul merson has said it a million times.....
and the stats are saying we need another attacking midfielder..

i was just reading the reports that sturridge has completed his medical on sunday i think he will be a decent signing as BR said that he wants player who are hungry and sturridge is great talent he would really want to prove himself at liverpool plus he can play anywhere in the front three so practically thinking it his signing does makes sense.
i am not so sure about ince though i would prefer if BR promoted ibe or peterson from the youth team rather than signing ince .
one player i really would like to see in a liverpool shirt is isaac cuenca of barca. he has just returned from injury and is available on loan .this guy is really talented and was very highly rated by Guardiola. wot do guys think about him?

Ed, Wilkins on Sly yesterday stated he was not surprissed that Sturridge was leaving Chelsea and that he was unwilling to play on the wing to get match experience.
Given how well Suarez has been playing through the middle this season does this not leave BR with a bit of a problem, is he going to play Sturidge there and move Suarez?
Anyway good buisness I think, hopefully having played for city and Chelsea who are serious contenders, the lad might realise he now has to work hard and be a bit flexible, we are currently mid table, if he doesnt do it with us a very promising career could be wasted. {Ed002's Note - Why not wait to see how he will be used first?}

If Sturridge goes through on 1st Jan then credit where it's due to FSG, we were all on their backs and rightly so after the Dempsey debacle but they've acted fast and without questions to secure a player as early as possible, goes some way towards making up for it.

Yes, the last transfer window was disappointing, but were it not for them, we might not actually have a club to sign players to. Hi Eds, I just want to hear your opinion on Pacheco. He used to be a real special talent and now everybody has forgotten about him. Do you think it is just because he does not work hard enough or is it something else? And do you think Ince and Sturridge will be the only signings or could you see another striker coming in? anybody in particular?
I'd really appreciate an answer.

Before us truthful attacked again.There was more noise from us fans at game because we had football to get outve seat about WITH an END product! A lotve pleased people around me with only one holding midfielder,ESPECIALLY being at Home to likes of Fulham (No dis-respect).Shelvey,Gerrard,Suso(who offers some lovely offensive runs,skill,touches) are more of whats required at home then a square pass playing-keep ball player.Its more dynamic and makes things happen up top at a quicker pace,swiching options quicker.ITS ALL WEVE ASKED!
Lucas does and did superb mopping up job as ever and unlike other options gets stuck in! This formation suits Stevie better!But we did the dirty work better Stevie,Lucas,Suso closed and got tight a lot Better and quicker then last week.Actually more steel with Shelvey getting in aswell and NOT Standing watching!Media made Benteke a God after last week and us who go were SO ANGRY cos knew(As Chavskis hammering of Villa showed)Villa were allowed to play.Benteke had all week (and no Red infrontve him to)bring ball down and bring in other runners.We never got close and Thats why us"Trolls"were SOOOO ANGRY last week cos we didnt turn up! The demands didn't come from Sturridge but it came from his agent. It was regarding agent fees that LFC were known to pay agent demands in the past. That day is gone where we'll be held to ransom by these vultures. He was on 50K/week with Chelsea and is getting 55K/week with us on a 5 year deal.
I thought he was getting a 10k pay cut to move to us, and on a 3 year deal.

Lool did you forget we have an academy? I doubt all our good youngsters are going on loan. I doubt we have that much money to spend. I doubt where going in for that many players. I don't see why we would want to sell our third choice CB who is quality in my opinion.

As a result of the attack and killing of a linesman in an amateur match a couple of weeks ago the Dutch F.A. have decided that ANY protest by a player to the referee will be a yellow card offence and any coach protesting will be sent from the touchline. It is with immediate effect in the Ere and Eerste Divisies and from March in amateur competitions. Hopefully it will soon be copied in England before too long.

You might as well call the sport something else now because of all these changes. It was a tragedy that shouldn't have happen for such a stupid reason. But this is a step to far in my opinion. It's literally become a non contact sport. Now we can't have an opinion? Then they won't to take away penalties? Then they want to change Europa again? Then they put two clown officials next to the goals that make no difference? But they don't decide to put goal line technology....there billions of pounds in football now but we can't do that?
Another stupid reply from YET another nameless poster. Football will remain a contact sport - it is the contact of players against referees that is the problem. We see all too often three or four players with their faces in the face of the referee. It doesn't happen in either of the Rugby codes and it was stamped on in football it would soon stop.

Hi Eds, since we have no defined transfer budget, and that transfers are being done on case by case basis,does this mean that Brendan will be allowed to sign other players in January? For example, an Attacking Midfielder, a real Centre Forward to compliment Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling, Borini? Maybe another Left Back? And any idea what number will sturridge be allocated?
