Taffytell shut up you twonk. Just read four or five posts creaming over chelsea. Loads of congrats on this site but if you don't want to read them and would rather have a pop at the people who haven't forgotten there actions at wembley,then go on the chelsea site. Liverpool fans arguing over Chelsea,pathetic! WelshBoyDave

Your the twonk WelshBoy. Come to something when Liverpool fans cant wait to comment on a forum about another team Be it Chelsea or anyone else. And im not creaming over them. I cant stand them but i give credit where it is due. Its a sorry state of affairs when our biggest achievement is watching and praying Chelsea get knocked out. People should stop embarrassing themselves and the club and being bitter. They have n't got to give credit but stop being so jealous. Its pathetic.

A deal has been agreed to sign Jackson Martinez? Is this true? If so, we have found our little gem! He is a tremendous finisher and will score a lot of goals - mostly important ones! Very happy!

Eds,
this are comments from Tom Werner out of his interview about the comolli decision.

"we have a strategy we need implemented and we felt Damien was probably not the right person to implement that strategy."

"We've had a strategy that we have agreed on. There was some disconnect on the implementation of that. That strategy is a strong one and it will continue."

He often mentions the strategy. But I for my part don't get it what this strategy is all about?!

Eds, do you know to what strategy he his referring to and what it is all about?

Please answer, I'm a little bit confused and desperate.
{Ed001's Note - the way we play is the strategy he is referring to. Comolli had ideas about how we should perform in matches and what we should do that he believed would give us better results. Unfortunately, his ideas didn't result in performances akin to those we achieved at the end of last season when Dalglish was allowed to decide on the way we played.}

Maybe this is a dumb question EDS, but do we play any different this year from what we have played last season? {Ed005's Note - It is a dumb question in all honesty. The style is completly different.}

I really like the way we play this year, and all stats show that we should be winning games. I watch the game and think were playing very well. getting to the second balls, making crossing, hitting the target, but then we let in a single goal from player error.

So we end up losing. I think D Comolli was on to something and I for one would not like to see us change our style of play. The data shows that where playing well. We may want to invest in different kinds of players. Like our back line plays very high and are too slow because they are strength cbks. The club would have to make a decision to get a Johnny Evans, Gerrard Pique. A cbk that is pacy, great at passing and able to play a high line, but give up the strength at Cbk.

Investing in better fullbacks that make good decisions. Honestly I think you get what you pay for as far as full backs go. They are the one position on the pitch that start attacks.

If we want to play total attacking football like bara, to some extent man utd. Then we need better quality fullbacks. Our luck will change over night if we fix these positions.

So I believe we need someone who can head balls into the net. Something Carroll was meant to do,but hasn't been able to fulfill. Better heading from one of our forwards would also change our fortunes.

I think Rafa invested in Counter-attacking, defensive style players. When you decide to change the style of play. Then player recruitment becomes a major issue.

Maybe D Comolli tried to introduce this style of football into liverpool football club too early. I would of waited another session and invested in more players that could play this formation.

I remember Rafa had to wait a couple of sessions before he had the players to became mr defensive.

If what has happen is a positive move on the behalf of the owners. Then Kenny may have full and final control over the football club and for once be in sole control of who plays and how like it use to be in 1980's

I heard they sacked the Sports Science guy. Dr German Guy, alot of fans thought he got to pick the starting line up instead of the manager and Roy Hodgson went on record saying the sports science guy tells me who i can and cant pick and felt he had too much control over player selection.

The their was the Luis Gate affair and couple of people got sacked over that nightware.

Well the owners have paid for D Comolli knowledge. They managed to extract this information, I think they should continue to use the information in order to improve the football being played at the club. As for hiring another Director of Football. I would change the job title and make the next guy director of youth development because the key to success is going to be in investment in youth network, scouting and cherry picking them at 18 years of age. The way Arsenal and Man utd do.

As for the real-estate side of the business. David Dein seems to be the right business minded person to get in if liverpool looking to build a new stadium and regenerate the area.

Then again I would consult Pete Winkelman MK dons chairman. He is an expert at making money on real-estate. A new stadium could open up the ability for alot of shopping companies to build new shops around the stadium. Like a mini shopping center that could fund the stadium building. Alot of supermarkets find it difficult to build stores due to planing controls. Then possible naming rights of the stadium, community housing.

Their must be a few off field deals that can be done. but getting back to football. I did notice that liverpool have under invested in wingers and that rafa never really liked them in his team. So to play our new system, we should start buying some wingers for both sides of the pitch.

But to recap. I did think D Comolli was on to something. We can play moneyball football at liverpool. This season we have put in the same number of crosses as man utd have done so. But this thing about luck keeps on coming up. We've been unlucky in converting goals.

I think luck is another word for inch of quality. maybe next season some of our younger players may improve a little bit and we become unstoppable in the league. It happened to Newcastle.

Its American style business terminology.
Strategy is a 5 year or longer set of objectives to be achieved, which essentially translates from its 'Vision and Mission Statements'.
Operational Strategies utilise tactics to achieve overall Strategy, through programs and projects and the like..
Does that make sense. I hope so.
Like any business, LFC decided that DC was not alligning strategy and operational strategy correctly, and in principal this is why he was asked to leave.
Shankly's Red Army.

Or maybe he was fired because we lose a lot of football matches.

But what do I know.

Does anyone else here rememnber the 2005 final liverpool ac milan as we was playing there was a forum going on about how much they wanted us to lose I had it all printed off anyone who seen this should realise how bitter chelsea was that night an if anyone has got a copy for the fans who never seen it could you please post somewere on here for people to read maybe then you wouldn't be so quick to congratulate chelsea my name joel {Ed001's Note - I really don't care myself, we should be better than that. We are the fans known for applauding other teams off when they have played well against us. We had a reputation for sportmanship. It is about time we stopped being bitter and petty and brought that reputation back.}

Disagree Ed,remember what a section of their fans did mate

Ed what are you on about well done chelea the team am on about the fans bitter an twisted I hope someone here has got a copy off the chat log that night an let everyone read it an there fans are a joke for the way they treated the 96 so ed you need to stop what ye saying an think someone please post the chat log off the chelsea fans or did anyone else see it really is an eye opener an again well done chelsea as a team an jt I remember beating chelsea an him saying to gerrard go on an win it so jt hope you lift old big ears aloft mate but hate you fans fact my name joel not bitter just a real scouser unlike all the eds {Ed005's Note - You know absolutly nothing about any of the eds sonny so just be quiet please. It was a minority of disgusting Chelsea fans who did this - not the whole support. Just like when a minority of our support make Munich chants - doesn't mean its the whole support. A minority bringing the rest down. Simple as that.}

Well said ed! All clubs have idiots supporting them and in this day and age a small amount of idiots can make a lot of noise over the internet. We as lfc should rise above that rubbish and show the world how to support a club

A small section of their fans need lessons in manners, yes. The club apologized. You make it sound like it's some sort of Abramovich-sponsored conspiracy against the 96. We've got our own share of numpties as well, all clubs do.

For me, I miss the days when we applauded the efforts of others or sang our own players on that aren't doing real well. I'm not a Chelsea fan by any stretch, but I've heard far more chanting for Torres at Stamford Bridge than I have for Andy Carroll at Anfield. All I'm saying is there is nothing wrong with giving them their due for the win and for the life of me I can't see why people are complaining about it.

RDL

Sonny sonny don't go on like ye some high an mighty ed if you don't like my post fine but no need to be bitter and cocky by referring to me as sonny did I touch a nerve ed the fact is chelsea at semi final sang through minutes silence do you no how many coz you think you do tell you what ed put a nice round number on it was it 10 fans or maybe 100 sounded pretty loud to me oh ye you can't say can you ed so wen I say chelsea fans I mean chelsea fans an am not talking about us an our fans so we must be to blame again coz your bringing it up tell ye what ed you need to calm it down an do what ye supposed to do on here an stop being a fool calling me sonny proper joke have some respect I didn't call you a c**t did I wonder if you,ll have balls to post this ! My name joel {Ed005's Note - I was just telling the truth and why would the post hit a nerve? I was simple responding to your statement. I managed to make out what you are saying here considering your awful grammar and I have to say that if 100 fans made disgusting chants about the 96 in a quiet stadium then it would be quite loud. If you think the whole Chelsea support should take the brunt of this and be responsible then sorry but I think you are quite unfair. I certainly wouldn't want anyone associating me with Munich chants as an LFC fan, just because a minority do it. PS, based on how you've wrote what you did there and the language you used, I would say I unintentionally hit a nerve there............sonny.}

My grammer is fine maybe its coz ye not a proper scouser ye can't read it properly you keep living in that bubble ed thing is am in L27 which. Means am not a wool like you who talks s**te an think coz he's got better grammer he,s right sort it out ed remember ye just a glory hunter from back in the day keep ploghing ye fields an feeding ye cows you,ll probley support chelsea in the final ye joke us real fans won't fact my name joel {Ed005's Note - Dat iz a niz story u mde up in yer hed well dn vry gd m8 gd brain u gt der. Nw jog on sonny b4 u gt wound up lyk a clock evn mre.}

Fantastic post RDL mate. The mindless minority of Chelsea fans, at Wembley that day. Did not represent all Chelsea fans. If that were the case I wouldn't have much family left, to talk to. As my wife, mother in law (spit lol ) 3brothers in law are all Chelsea fans.

Kenny has got a perfect record against chelsea. There's more on the line for us and we are more focused. Their players have got to be tired.

If the DoF decides the style of football then why are peoplr saying benitez made us play boring football when it wasnt his choice?

Why has this turned into a chelsea appreciation page? I couldnt care less, im a Liverpool fan, YNWA, Roblfc86

Because most LFC fans are big enough to applaud accomplishments by other teams. It is one of things that we are known for.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Sure, I'm a LFC supporter, but I also like football in general. Anyways, hats off to Chelsea- even though I don't much care for them and thought they played mind-numbingly boring footie over 2 games, they're in a CL final and that's not an easy thing to achieve so that deserves some recognition.

That said, anyone else think maybe that might have been a handball in the box right before the punt out to Torres? Never got a good replay of it so couldn't tell.

Also, Terry is an idiot. Really dislike that guy.

John terry "anyone who knows me know I'm not that sort of player". No John you are because you did it, you tried to lie your way out of it then realised you'd been caught on camera. What's up with all you reds congratulating a bunch of horrible bas****s like Chelsea.

Its called not being bitter.

Bitter? Cast your mind back to the sunday semi final son.

Ozone

Because there is a difference between being a fan of a club and a hater.

Got every right to be bitter, the way there fans behaved during the minutes silence in the fa cup semi's. It was an absolute disgrace. Shame on you all.

I agree entirely Ozone. Hope they get thumped in the final ! Even more sickening than Terry getting caught trying to lie his way out of a corner was how sky gave him an easy ride. Should have been slaughtered for his farcical cover story.

A small amount of fans disgraced themselves by booing at their semi not the entire club. Let's hope the investigation finds them bu I refuse to be drawn into a false hatred of an entire club over the actions of a small minority. Things like this get people hurt and ruin the sport lets rise above it for the good of the club

Its called being mature. You can't hate your whole life, it just eats away at you.
Anyrate, If have seen more Barca games in the last week than LFC ones, and I am sick of their damn football.
Good luck Chelsea, the UCL final will keep them focussed, and ultimately help us for the FA cup final.

Hats off to Chelsea! They thoroughly deserved the win. Epic performance over two legs.

I posted a couple of days ago in banter page that I would be rooting for Chelsea. I said they were cheated out of it by ref decisions a few years ago, and that Barca were totally overrated. Almost everybody disagreed.

As I said before, this is also great news for us. Chelsea will not give any thought to FA Cup Final now, and this distraction will benefit us immensely.

Of course chelski will try and win the f.a cup, they have to be favorites the way we have been playing,i really hope chealsea lose the champions league final ,terry and the fans really are disgusting and torres can go to hell ! but most importantly i hope and pray that we play the way we usually do when up against quality teams in big games , WE ARE LIVERPOOL F.C. 2 cups in the cabinet will at least be a decent way on rebuilding our club, not great by our standards but we are on the right path , and to all those praising chealsea go to their site, they are the enemy ! you gonna congratulate them if they win on may 5 ? and istanbul was 100 times better than todays game . rant over

24 Apr 2012 22:20:08
a note to FSG and the fans that demanded 4th spot and the constant whinging that 2 cup finals isn't good enough.
if chelsea win the champions league then 4th spot will go into the europa league anyway! a decision that resulted from lfc's win in 20005!
luckily for us we already have that secured(europa league). for spurs and newcastle fans. sorry

Two cup finals is a great achievement for a manager in his first full season and a good base to build on for the future. for return on investment. FSG havn't really spent any money on the team, just freeed up the money that would of gone to pay off the loan.

They invested £200 million into a property deal and I think they should get 400million back in the future if they sell.

"Property deal?" You are clueless. Owners may make money one day. If they do, it will have nothing to do with real estate.

24 Apr 2012 22:20:07
Good tactics by Chelsea - getting Terry sent off. No chance of him missing a penalty in the final now !

24 Apr 2012 22:19:55
What a game. Take a bow Chelsea FC. But please don't compare them with our 2005 team. They had lady luck pissing all over them,so did we at times, but also our captain who single-handedly carried us through that entire campaign. But that has to be the best defensive performance I've ever seen,ever. Well done Chelsea. Still gonna kill you in the FA Cup final though.

I think we're all starting to realise that there will be big changes this summer and I think it's possible the new owners could kick start the road to recovery. I think we will be thanking Kenny for all that he has done - steadying the ship and delivering one, maybe two, trophies.

However I can see a blueprint for the future emerging and I think our most important "signings" this summer are the DOF and new manager (which I expect)

Director of Football - Bigiristain ticks a lot ot boxes and comes recommended by Cruyff.

The DOF will select the new coach/manager and as of now I would put forward three experienced names and one less experienced one and all would bring something to the table and fit into the club's vision.

Marcelo Bielsa - aged 56 but a thinking coach who could surely do for us what he has done for Bilbao on a much more limited budget. Gettable.

Rafa Benitez - obvious credentials, feels he has unfinished business and not too much of a risk. Would jump at the chance.

Louis Van Gaal - only 60, has the CV, is a big influence on Bielsa and has the Ajax/Barca connections that the owners seem to be favouring. Free and available and reportedly interested.

Roberto Martinez - more risky but if it's about developing a style and taking a longer-term view I believe he would be an excellent appointment. Would jump at the chance.

Eds - what are your current thoughts on how things will pan out DOF/Manager wise.

PieInTheSkyMan {Ed005's Note - I think that Spanish guy will get the DoF job with, I'm told by another ed, David Dein taking up another role at the club. In my honest opinion I think Dalglish should step aside. Not really sure who I'd like as manager, I think Laudrup would be a great choice.}

Good summary. I would add Unai Emery to the list.

For me, the dream manager candidate is Klopp. Setting records in Germany with Dortmund. I know it won't happen right now.

I think the DM job will disappear. Its a nightmare title that English people hate.

Youth Development manager - Johan Cruijff A True Legend and creature of the Ajax youth development system might be the way to go.

D-Commil- footballing stats and blue print for playing football should remain. Their is still value in his knowledge and why throw the baby out of the bath water. The owners have gotten all his knowledge in exchange for years pay cheque.

Implementing the plan throughout the football club may be the new challenge, getting the youth system playing the same style of football throughout. Getting better younger players in is going to be the thing to do.

Kenny should remain the face of the football club. The manager is more of a PR man these days than a manager. So he should remain in his role and trust in the team around him to make him look good.

The real key this summer, will be if their is inwards investment in players or if the owners decide to sell one or two established players in order to get in better players EG Gerrard and Johnson out. +14m+22m+ 38m = 72m war chest for summer recruitment. But I can't see them investing in players if they have just sacked thier DM.

Hi Ed

Will Maxi and Kuyt still be at Anfield next season? Feel we need younger, quicker and more dangerous players out wide.

There is also the rumour that we are interested in Gylfi Sigurdsson which I think will be a fantastic signing. Is there any truth to it? {Ed005's Note - Refer to previous answers using the search function.}

Raul Meireles 17 March 1983 age 29 Porto, Portugal
Height. At FC Porto, winning three Primeira Liga titles in a row, adding two Portuguese Cups and three Portuguese Supercups. In 2010 he moved to Liverpool where he won the 2011 PFA Fans' Player of the Year award great season at liverpool. On August 2011, Meireles signed for Chelsea, hopes to win the Champions League

Ed you can't tell me that Raul isn't mentally up to the challenge of champions league football. We played very well tonight against Bara. It just goes to show how clueless those Americans are about football as a whole in letting him leave. I understand he was paid £28,000 a week and wanted a promised £60,000 a week. It hard to find good players of champions-league quality and we let him leave.

Well done Chelsea and Raul Meireles proved to world tonight just how good he is. And tonight we had three former liverpool players on the pitch in javier mascherano, Torres , Reaul Meirelses. Also at le classico barca vs real we had Xabi Alonso and Arbeloa. We seem to like to let the good ones get away.

{Ed005's Note - The deal was that if he had a good season he would get the pay rise. Did he have a good year at Liverpool? No. He had a purple patch of scoring and other than that he was poor. What has he done at Chelsea? Very little it has to be said.}

Haha you soppy t%$t,meireles was one of the worst players on the pitch,lost possession so cheaply and was directly responsible for iniesta's goal. clueless mug looking for a petulent whine

Do you live in a bubble Lee. Whether you like it or not as a Liverpool fan we should have class. If you want to label the Chelsea minority as the majority fine, but its stupid in my eyes. I dont get all the fair plays etc to chelsea?

They had 3 shots in 2 games and scored em all.

They got throughly out played.

And if anything, i thought barca were poor.

1 man down? you still had 10 men behind the ball for full 90 minutes so it doesnt matter.

Anyone who wants to congratulate, just remember how their fans were calling us murderers during the minute silence against spurs!!

Bloody hell, there are a few people that are so bitter on the liverpool site tonight, what's the matter boys can't stand another english team having some success?

CnM

A couple of mindless idiots were, not all chelsea fans. I was at Hillsborough and we lost a close family friend there and what the sun said at the time and what those few mindless idiots said at wembley makes me sick to the core but we can't blame every single chelsea fan for that chanting at wembley, it's not right. Yes I'm not keen on chelsea, I don't like some of their players and their attitude at times but lets not try and come across as bitter, our time will come again soon. Kev79 JFT96 YNWA

Its not about being bitter.

I personally have never sung the munich song or anything along those lines.

If just 1 chelsea fan mocked our dead, then i would not want that person to feel happy and joy at beating barca.

All this bitter is nonsense. I dont want those fans, or people like drogba and john terry happy.

They are vile people.

Frank lampard i would congratulate and say well done too.

Statistics are meaningless. To win in football, you have to be able to defend. And you have to not get complacent. These elements are difficult to capture with stats.

Barca forgot to defend at 2-0. Chelsea never forgot. Credit to Chelsea.

kudos to chelsea and torres for their big big win tonight. Probably the chelsea fans can now say that torres's goal was worth 50 million alone :-). that goal sparked off pandemonium in the tv room where i was watching with around 40 people and 34th were chelsea fans. good to see such raw emotion.

i am sure we wont be signing soldado because jackson martinez deal is on the go and 1/3 payment has been done and soldado might be expensive. rather we will buy another striker for cheaper price, dont know who though. keita and martinez are in for sure so we would be needing a winger and i think the mexican guy will sign for us or in next season we might give some youngsters a chance.

Does this mean that person Terry will be banned for the FA Cup final as that would certainly be a bonus?

The Jackal. {Ed003's Note - Why would he be banned for the FA cup ?}

Violent conduct 3 match ban?

The Jackal.

The 3 match ban, only exists for eurpean cup matches. So he cant play in the UCL final, he won't be able to play in any qualifiers if chelsea come 4th and don't win the UCL.

Why did Barca suffercate themselves of space...? Yes Chelsea parked the bus but Barca have pace up front and should have sat back themselves and passed the ball around their midfield in their own half, drawing chelsea out and then hit chelsea with incisive quick play and runs inn behind by Messi, Sanchez and Alves. Playing in front of 11 phyiscal players in the box..well... that's what happens.. well done chelsea but Barca made it more difficult for themselves they didnt need all those attackers either.

Well, the score at that point was 2-1 and Chelsea were through already. I'm quite sure they would have been more than happy to let Iniesta and Xavi pass the ball back and forth for the last 45 minutes at the halfway line.

Did Jamie Redknapp really just say that is the best performance from an English side he has ever seen in the champions league? Hmmm let me think Jamie..Istanbul 2005 ring any bells?

Difference is Barcelona were supposedly the best team ever to grace a pitch. No one gave Chelsea a chance what so ever. Brilliant result.

Taffytel

Also it was on their own turf

It still wasn't a patch on the Istanbul comeback! Coming back from 3-0 down at half time in the FINAL is a far greater achievement in my opinion. The chelsea players battled hard tonight but its no match at all to what we achieved in 2005 for me. Kev79

Weve beat them on own turf-remember?

Not even close to Istanbul...down 3 goals against the supposed best team in the world that year...and no first leg lead...Redknapp really has no idea sometimes...
{Ed023's Note - I just think he got caught up in the moment. When he reflects on it all in a few year let's say he will know 2005 was the best night}

Just want to say an honest well done to Chelsea. Credit where credits due, their players battled hard for that. Simular to what we did in 2005. So no bitterness at all just honesty. Got to say Barca looked like they ran out of ideas though. But well done. Di Matteo has surely got to get that job now.

Well I would never of thought I'd say this but congratulations to Chelsea.
Barcelona remind me of a light middleweight v heavyweight. What I mean is.. Faster hands, looking great and dominating skill but no knockout power.
Very glittery attractive dominating football but for they pass it side to side to much and try to walk the ball into the net.
Chelsea were gutsy, hardworking, English courage team and good luck to them in the final.
Let's hope the MIGHTY reds have a stronger punch in the FA cup final..

Remember how i keep saying you should be more humble and that you still are not learning your lesson. That was with 10 men, no center backs, against the team that would put 4 or 5 past us yeah lads. Thats a lot of egg on a lot of your faces and you fully deserve it

SHED END

Shed end as a pool fan I apologise for some of the numpty's on here and congratulate you boys on win. Our rivalry will be resumed back in Premier or FA Cup but you did whole country proud. Take a bow son.

Fair play mate. I can't stand Chelsea, but I was never going to give it the big 'un. I would love to be tuning in to watch Liverpool play Barcelona on a Tuesday night.

It's you who should be more Humble and accept the congratulations in the spirit they are intended.

Yes SHED (if you ever have been there) and there's also a thing called winning with dignity aswell. A lot of Liverpool and other fans are taking time, including myself, to post to congratulate your team and then you come on here and act like a complete plank. Yous are in the final now and anyone can win it but you haven't won it yet. So try and carry yourself of with a bit more class because you just make yourself seem like an idiot. Also if it was us who'd just got through to the Champions League Final I'd be a bit too busy to be posting on here so you may need to get a life aswell.

What a performance, absolutely stunned. Perhaps, thats the best definition of a team. Remarkable... Hope, they wouldn't be this good in the FA cup Final. They are looking amazing. Barca lacked any plan-B, at all. And what a nightmare for Messi. Trustme

Havnt got much time for Chelsea. But what a fantastic result/effort from their 10 men. John Terry could have let them down bigstyle, but the gods are smiling on them (just like us in 2005).

Congratulations Chelsea, good luck in the final.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. That's for SHED END, Melbourne, Osgoodisking etc, congrats. {Ed022's Note - The thing is, Terry's act tonight was truly disgusting in my opinion. A professional footballer to do that in a semi-final, a captain to do that. Disgraceful. Oh well, Chelsea were awesome in all fairness.}

Football verses anti-football. Sorry but that was a rerun of us v WBA all over again. Chavs 10 man defence prevails over a team that makes watching them play an utter joy. at least El Sulk didn't score the winner.
One poked-off ND

I agree Ed! I've never fully liked him but looking back, he's slept with team mates wives, caught on youtube with extremely offensive racism AND now kicking a player. For all he knew he could've cost Chelsea the game! I think it's a disgrace England football team have him in the team... is he really a 'professional' that represents England!? We should be ashamed he's representing us and in my opinion he should be banned from football all together. Complete scumbag!

Barca look clueless.

You can't win every game or every tournament you enter. Even the best messi up. How much did the Barca team cost and how long have they been together?
Take note fellow Reds.
Barca hit the woodwork 4 times over the 2 legs and missed a penalty, sound familar?
Any way well done to Chelsea showed good team spirit and fight.

Bara are not clueless, they lack tactical plan B. Mourinho would of started shooting from outside the box. He will switch it up. Bara play to their way till the end.

Messi missed a penalty and they hit the woodwork...just not their day...another day they would have scored those goals and won...

Can anyone give some advice? We emigrated to Canada when my son was 2, he is now 7. He has never seen Liverpool play in person. Whilst i followed them all over Europe. They have just announced this friendly in Toronto (about 100kms away from us) and i am pretty sure i can get tickets so my son can finally see the lads play. But it would be a dream come true if i could arrange for him to become a team mascot for the day. Does anyone know who would be the appropriate person to contact about this? I love a good Liverpool Debate gr8 site eds!

On rafa i think he did a great job overall giving circumstances far from perfect however and if the owners were to rehire him i think it would show weakness hiring two former liverpool managers so on balance I dont want rafa back.

As for Kenny it was brilliant to enjoy cups ;) success but 9th just isnt good enough love to see him take another role in the club but Long term i dont think hes viable. Dont know about replacements but i dont want someone who has had one gd year in the prem brenden rodgers and paul laumbert for example someone who has european championship experience like laudrup

hey eds, just a quick question for you, who would you like as the new manager and DoF?
and why would you want them?

great work on this site,
thanks
Rg {Ed001's Note - Cruyff would have been the ideal man, but I would settle for Txiki, so he can bring the total football here. As for manager, I would be happy with whoever can work with them best, but I personally would love to see Roy Evans back. He is one of the best coaches in the world, and would prosper, in my opinion, as a head coach under a DoF.}

Roy Evans is like 96 old {Ed001's Note - and? What difference does his age make? He was born in 1948 anyway, just a couple of years before Dalglish.}

To be fair ed he is around 96ish

Ed,

Whats wrong in him joining Kenny's team?
Should we really sack Kenny and go through another year of transition?

You agree with this madness?

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - no, but I can see why a new man would want his own choice in charge, so that they are on the same wavelength. Personally, I think Dalglish deserves at least one more year, the club was in such a state, with such a weak squad, we are lucky to have won a cup and be in the top half.}

Just a quick question for the 'pool guys...

Would you rather have the FA Cup and Carling cup or would you rather finish 4th in the EPL?

Which would you prefer and why?

The Moon.

Hmmmmmmm 4th champions league affects revenue and rankings hugely which obv helps with transfers so 4th

Trophies. Winning trophies makes you a successful football club and gives the fans some reward.

Ask us a new one..

4th. Nothing beats watching champions league footy and attracting champions league quality players.

On the other side I think it was necessary we had a season where we won a couple of of trophies to end the trophy drought and restore some pride. Let's hope we win the F.A Cup. It soothes the pain

If we can still attract and buy top attacking players this summer, I would take the cups all day, as 4th will be just round the corner..! And trophies are memorable, ask Arsenal (...oh wait)!

I would have both cups and settle for a decent league season, even if we finished fifth that would be fine as long as we were at least competitive.

When we won the cup treble, then that paved way for champions league. I'd say trophies is the priority.
Should we win the FA cup then the Charity Shield then that could be the spring board to next seasons title challenge.
Its all it's n butts..

Depends if we end up like Arsenal. 4th place every season, play a few crappy Eastern European teams in the group stage of the CL, then knocked out in the next round...what's the point in that? Winning trophies is what football is all about.

And that includes the League Title as well.

Nobody can argue that we have not scored enough goals this season, be it poor finishing, bad luck, poor decisions whatever. But I think everyone has overlooked the fact that we have conceded way to many with this so called exciting attacking football.
In 43 competitive games (all league and cups)we have just 13 clean sheets which compared to UTD who have 21 in 50 matches (champions league and charity shield) is poor.
Put it this way another 5 clean sheets would be worth 10 points, now that might have reduced slightly the points total of the teams above us, but leaving that to one side 10 more points and we would still be in the fight for a champions league place now.
I would suggest we need more than just a striker and a wide man? At least a rethink on the way we are playing.
Who knows defending a bit better might draw the opposition out and give our forwards a bit more space, and leave us less open to the quick counter attack we seem prone to this season.
RNred

At one point, we had the leagues best defense.

People disagree with what? it's ok to let goals in? check the figures yourselves.

Eds what Is our wage bracket? You seem to think we can't match the likes of Valencia? {Ed001's Note - because we are looking to reduce our wage bill, Suarez is the highest paid player we have brought into the club. Suarez earns the same as the fringe players at Arsenal, such as Diaby, less in fact when possible bonuses are taken into consideration. We are not paying big wages any more, that was what nearly killed the club.}

Eds,
I just wonder how we could attract the best players with offering that low wages?! {Ed001's Note - because you sell the club to them.}

Its a sobering thought that we aren't even paying as much as Arsenal, because they are often held up as an example of a thrifty club, so you wouldn't expect them to want to pay as low wages as possible really?
But I'm sure the owners are aware of the balance between having a sustainable wage bill and being able to compete for the signature of world class players. {Ed001's Note - Arsenal pay way too much for their fringe players, that is why they can't afford to spend big.}

I think tHE WAGE PROBLEM IS A REAL ISSUE BUT IF WE HAVE GOT ONE QUALITY PLAYER AND HE PROVES HE HAs IT THEN THE PLAYER DESERVES SOMETHING EXTRA WITHIN OUR LIMITS.. IF NOT i fear BIGGER CLUBS WOULD COME AND SNATCH OUR TOP PLAYERS from our club.

Of course not like the old days when we paid Poulson 60K, Jovanovic 75K , Ngog 40K. But its a shame players like Suarez is on the same wage as that of Diaby.

Players like Lucas, Suarez should be among our high earners especialy Suarez. he deserves 95/100k at least.

Those few of them, exceptional ones who deserves it should get it..

Bosco

Fringe players like Chamakh and Gervinho (who some people on here were clamouring for) are paid a small fortune, considering there lack of talent.

Hopefully we'll stick to a sensible policy. Surely if Kuyt, Maxi and Johnson leave we'll definitely have a balanced team and perhaps room for a big stars wages.

Papa G

Are u sure about that ed ur telling me suarez is on a similar wage to diaby arsenal have a fairly tight wage structure as it is i just dont see it {Ed001's Note - Arsenal pay high money to lots of players, that is why their wage bill has been higher than ours for years. You may not see it, but it is a fact that Arsenal pay fringe youngsters ridiculously high wages.}

hey eds

i want a manager like guardiola(ino it wont be him but some one like him) who makes his teams play with a fast tempo and a lot of pressure and purpose

are we linked with anyone like this thanks {Ed001's Note - why do you believe that is Guardiola's choice? The style of play is set by the DoF, not the coach. Cruyff set up Barca's system, Guardiola just implements it under the command of a DoF.}

24 Apr 2012 17:34:29
eds, I just heard that milan will send aquilani back to liverpool in the summer because of fitness problems. Do you think these rumours are true, and if they are do you think there's a chance we might keep him as i think he's a good player, just very unlucky with injuries.
YNWA {Ed001's Note - they do want rid, because he is not good enough, overweight and always injured. He is not unlucky as much as he is lazy, he doesn't work hard enough in training so picks up injuries very easily.}

This is a genuine message.

Under Houllier the players used to do a pre-match huddle.

Anyway, I was bought a present from one of those sports memorabilia places.

The picture is of one of these huddles and the picture has been signed by all the players. It is from the members of the LFC squad 2001-2002.

It is in a lovely solid shiny black frame.
It has the certificate of authenticity on the back.
The picture is approximately 11" x 8".
The frame is approximately 16" x 16".
It's actually quite heavy considering it's a picture in a frame, so it gives an idea of the quality.

I could do with the money for other things and reluctantly have decided to put it up for sale.

I can give the ed's my e-mail address and supply any pictures needed, plus my phone number etc if needed.

Would anyone be interested?

If so, how much would people be prepared to pay for it?

If it's ok with the ed's who could maybe auction the item on this site, I would donate 10% of the purchase price to any charity/organisation of their choice.

Thanks in advance for your consideration on this.

RedAllOverButNotSore

If I have no luck, it will have to go up for sale on a popular internet auction site :-(

Totally disagree with you, rafa was to blame as much as g&h for liverpool nearly entering adminastration he was spending money that we didnt have on wages and players like aqua.20million on a player tht was injuried and not good enough either.
before you mouth of back aswell, do abit reseach on rafa's time at liverpool then probally you will understand the facts abit more.also you can ask valencia and inter milan if they would like him back and see what response you get.
lets get real here IF we (liverpool fc)are to move on from the king then a manager with the pass and move style of play is what we want not the boring rafa s**te.we need to move FORWARDS and not BACKWARDS.fsg will bring a new faces in to fresh things up i believe,but above all tht ad take kenny over rafa anyday.

1.aqualani was bought in a part payment deal and when he was bought he was rated as one of the brightest,young prospects at roma.does he has talent yes but does he have right attitude no.
2.since valencia won 2 titles under rafa just check on net how many clubs have won title other then barca and real.in spain he is rated very highly.valencia were in finacial trouble when rafa signed and still are but real and barca are more in debt even more then valencia.
3.at inter rafa folowed jose it took lot of guts for any manager to take that job after joses achievement there but truth was that jose built a team with lots of aging stars and combined with injuries in rafas season he asked for money to spend and owner at inter refused and he left but look at inter still struggling.
4.rafa build acadmy at LFC so he was looking long term he knew money would dry up.

Lastly just chill mr brown.I don't want him back as manager but I respect him a lot and he is a nice man who loves LFC.

Red indian
Ps-at the end of day we all are humans there is so much we can do right ed?

Mr brown i just cant understand any real liverpool fan saying rafas as much to blame as the two cowboys for the trouble liverpool got in.in rafas last two seasons he showed a profit on his transfers .dont forget his average spend on transfers was about8or 14 mill a season. id have rafa back within a heartbeat if kenny left. soul man {Ed001's Note - he didn't make the club a profit on them though. He increased the wage bill massively, he also cost the club a lot of money in pay offs to players leaving the club.}

Rafa signed aqualani on the scouts report and said himself, he had been let down cause aqualani didnt have the ability to be a top player.
rafa has no value for money and always trys to live beyond his means at clubs.
inter well doesnt really matter what happened there but! if like you stated he is a top manager the he should be able to follow another top many(jose).
rafa build the academy did he? not sure if thts the truth more to the fact what you believe.
and lastly i am chilled and i respect kenny who is our manager at the moment,not the type tht disrespect him and call for rafa back.
p.s i know lots of nice men but they never managed a site i have been on,on the other hand people say am a t**t but a been a site forman since a was 25.do you get the drift (nice men dont always make good managers)
mr brown

Rafa did make a profit he made 2o mll on alonso alone and i dought very much he negotiated the wages he allso made millions in the champions league. soul man

Who did the negotiations?

Rafa? Or Rick Parry?

Did Rafa agree to pay 20 mil for Robbie Keane?
Last heard, Rick Parry was responsible for all the deals

And then Purslow after him......

Anyone know which of our players are likely to be invoved in the Olympics football? I have a bit of a vested interest as I have tickets for the two Wembley games on 29th July which means I'll see GB v Senegal and more importantly Uruguay v UAE. The regulations are under 23s plus upto 3 over age players in the squad. I would say Sebastian Coates is nailed on t be in the Uruguay squad and could well be captain. Luis may get the nod as one of the ver age players although we might prefer him to be involved in our preseason by then. I find it hard to get excited by team GB but will definitely be cheering on our Uruguayan friends.

Director of Football - Kenny Dalglish

Manager - Michael Laudrup

1st Team Coaches - Steve Nicol
- Steve Clarke

Steve Nicole & Steve Clarke are both defense minded coaches so don't think we need Steve Nicole. As we already have a much better Clarke.

Clarke has done brilliant and deserves credit for our defensive strength we have seen recently.

I am not impressed with Kevin Keane.
We should get some attack minded coach to replace him. The arrival Kean as a coach really has somewhat dragged our team down as far as goals scoring is concerned.

And if we appoint Laudrup he would certainly bring his right hand man Erik Larsen as his assistant.

Who ever come I think Steve Clarke must stay he has been a very good professional coach at our disposal. If He can team up with who ever comes it would be great.

There is no place for kenny at liverpool

Who do you think can join us a coach in the present set up with only Keane leaving?

Hi eds, was just wandering who out of wolfwinskel and luuk de jong you would prefer at the club? both young dutch strikers who would probably cost around the same amount. {Ed001's Note - De Jong, never seen Wolfswinkel do anything to convince me he would be even close to good enough.}

Watched Wolfswinkel against Bilboa last week and was awful!

Rafa Lovers
Just to remind you, it was Rafa who pushed out the World class Alonso for the injured useless Aquilani who's not going to generate us a penny
So put your rose tinted glasses away when looking at Rafa.
There's not much wrong other than a goal scorer
Patience, my kids have been wembley twice and won a cup with another on the way ?
Not all bad
I tell you there's a Manc team that will wish for that soon enough, along with two London teams

Pistol Pete

I think you'll find that Alonso was off form and was a saleable asset for Rafa to try and get new players in.
We had no choice but to get Aquilani as H&G would not release funds (I think we spent about £4.5m-£5m up front on him).

Get your FACTS right!!

Rafa didnt push alonso out of liverpool .rafa had to sell alonso to buy barry and keen but coco just bought keen when barry was wanted first if rafa had the money he would have had barry and alonso.peopl forget alonso had a great first year and a good last year the inbetween years he was ok. soul man {Ed001's Note - and Barry is not fit to lace the boots of Alonso when he was out injured, let alone when he is playing.}

Its about time some one talked some sense

Rafa didn't push Alonso out, he wanted to leave. Rafa said that Alonso could leave if he could bring in Barry but they decided the owners wanted to buy Robbie Keane instead and couldn't replace Alonso because they didn't have money. Roma were happy to take payments on Aquilani in installments and therefore Rafa decided to gamble on Aquilani. At the end of the day it was the owners greediness what affected Rafa's last year. He DID NOT force Alonso out... Alonso wanted to leave and Rafa needed to replace him.

BthekingB {Ed001's Note - Rafa wanted Keane, not the owners, they had no idea who he was.}

Bore off, Kennys league form stinks and hes bought some crap, these are facts mr pete

No namer you get your facts right u goon rafa tryed to offload alonso to juve to fund the gareth barry move.thts the reason he wasnt playing his best football in his last season for us alsono stated he felt let down by rafa so you get ur facts right clown
mrbrown

IT was person Parry who bought Keane! Rafa wanted another player but Parry got Keane!

Reli Ed cos i remeber rafa saying he was in control after he sold keane after 6months i dont buy it im afraid {Ed001's Note - yes, he sold Keane because he had off field issues. He did want him and has said so himself many times in interviews if you bothered to find out.}

At the ed's, didn't rafa admit in an interview that his idea was to replace alonso with barry who would then be able to feed keane down the left hand side of torres. parry went out and got him keane but barry fell through at the last minute when the liverpool fans had jeers for barry and sang alonso's name. this resulted in barry taking the bait from the man city owner's.
alonso then subsequently upped his form in the knowledge that a move would be imminent come the summer after what rafa had done to him. and as for keane his off field 'antics' got him shipped out 6 months later....
point in this story is, it was all rafa's handy work.
s.p

Alonso left because of two reasons
1. Madrid wanted him.
2. The 50% tax rule almost halved his contract where as in Spain he got a better contract and 24-35 % tax rates (via the Beckham rule)

do you think in summer we will get a new young manager and do you think there will be news about the staduim, also what manager would you like to join the club.

I am not calling for Rafa back but i feel it is very harsh to say he didn't make good signings because he made very good signings ! I can only recall 2 bad 'BIG' money signings which were Keane and Aquilani but if he had is own way we would be a very different club right now. If those cowboys had given him the funds we have availible now i believe he would have signed players like Silva and Aquero who are huge success at City he targeted deals for these 2 and even had one in place for Aquero as far as i know so why not bring him back on some sort of transfer basis ? i mean he did get the likes of Reina, Torres, Mascherano and Alonso who all were success !

LFCHARLIE

Dnt forget that he signs players and plays them completly out of position... thats y keane failed

Babbel,voronin,insua,josemi,nunes morientes,krompkamp,dossena,n gog,degan,pennant...all good rafa signings .....not

Charlie , rafa was given money and out of all the signings he made he was bound to get a few right , but he bought more bad ones than good ones , and when he was with us our owners were not multi billionairs , so he had a transfer budget , wich most managers around the world have , just because he didnt want to have these restraints does not mean he did not get money it only means he had to do what all the rest of the managers have to do season in season out and live within his transfer budget , its funny i dont hear other managers moaning about their transfer budgets , look at moyes , he never has any money but ive never heard him come out and call the owners , as a manager one of his duties is to watch what he spends , rafa never , i think you could give rafa all the money in the world but as soon as its gone he would moan about having no monay , at every club he as been at he as fell out with the board over money , put it this way if rafa was that good he would be in charge of barca or r.madrid ,or man city or chelski , get over it , he had a transfer kitty , wich in his eyes was not enough its taht simple

Reina Johnson skrtel Lucas masch Torres alonso Garcia

Kenny plays players out of position, always puts downing on the right and henderson

I am never ceased to be amazed when I read these pages on the number of fans who "knew/stated" months ago Kenny wasn't the man for the job, or they now say Carroll was alway going to show us how good he can be after months of slagging the lad off! No doubt the same posters will be saying in 12 months time how good Henderson & Downing have been and how they predicated this.......(maybe)

Having followed this fantastic club for 42 years (my first two games were both derbies (3-0 at woodison -Sandy Brown & 3-2 at Anfield - Chris Lawler last 5 minutes, when we were 2-0 down) led to me being well and truely hooked and I have in my time seen many highs. The '77 European cup, both trebles, in '84 and 2001. Players such as Callaghan, Keegan, Toshack, Souness, Rush, Heighway, Stevie and of course KK, have only helped foster my love for my club. Having said that I have also seen some dross also, Dundee, Torbin anyone, but that didn't matter, they wore red and they were playing for my team.

My point here is, and without being blinded by faith, is that I grew up supporting the reds, yes I got frustrated watching us sometimes, yes I got annoyed sometimes, but mostly I can honestly say, with the exception of the birth of my two children nothing can ever give me that "feeling" I get when the redmen win or score (hope my wife doesn't read this page!).

I know our league position isn't great and I guess with a little luck it would have been better, but I do believe you make your own luck so that for me can not be an excuse. I do however believe the performances in general do not truely reflect on our overall position for this this season. Yes we have had bad games, but name me a team that hasn't (maybe Newcastle?) but overall I think the amount of chances we have created and missed, the number of times the woodwork has saved the opposition goes by the wayside because we didn't win, therefore we must have played badly.

Well that's according to the "experts" on the press/TV. They would have us believe the world is crashing in around us and it's all a disaster at Anfield.

Yet the same people are now making excuses for the Arse and the Spuds, why? Neither of them have won anything this season (again) why? is it because they are more media friendly? it is because they are based in London? I really don't know the anwer nor do I care, it's just what happens.

What I do care about is LFC and it bothers me to see the knee jerk fans on this site clamouring for change after nearly every result, get a grip people. This is now about re-building this great club of ours to take us back to the top, swapping managers/players every season won't do that, time and development will.

Finally (apologies for the length of the post) I recorded the LFC tv on Sunday and viewed it after the match - did anyone else see how the players greeted Roy H?....each to a man shook his hand and/or hugged him, strange that given the press slated the same players for disliking him/them him when he managed us - TMac

TMac, you're spot on.

Yes and of course no other team ever hits the woodwork do they?

Post is a miss and the team need to stop seeing them as anything else... it's an easy half excuse to throw in and call it luck. Fact is, hitting the post counts as much as Charlie Adams penalty he launched in to space.

Aquilani has been a huge let down whilst at Milan this season and is his own fault due to weight problems and general lack of effort, sounds alot like our very own number 9. So they have decided not to sign him. This doesn't mean a return to Liverpool is on the cards before you all get exited, He is adamant that he doesn't want to move away from Italy so we will try and sell him at a cut price and make a big loss on him if not a loan out again looks inevitable.

LFCHARLIE

Hasn't he reached the required number of appearances? so Milan's views won't matter there is a contract in place regardless {Ed001's Note - needed one more game.}

So will this be our list of strikers for next season?:
* Luis Suarez
* Jackson Martinez
* Andy Carroll
* Luuk De Jong
* Craig Bellamy

The Eds still feel that there is interest in signing De Jong, so if the deal for Soldado come off, and these Martinez rumours are true, what a line up that could be for next season. For the first time we'll have a front line of players all in their prime and international quality, with the likes of Downing, Bellers and an ever-improving Carroll ready to step in and cover any injuries.

Just imagine it- Suarez in a number 10 role, Martinez attacking down the left, De Jong on the right and Soldado at cf.

And we might still be in for Muniain too? Wow
Lucas will be back, Shelvey and Henderson still getting better, and maybe another quality midfielder to strengthen the squad for the extra Europa games.
I think we're in for an exciting season in 2012/13, and the likes of these players will give us that cutting edge and the goals to get right back into the CL.
I only wish KK could be given a chance to manage that lot for another season, but sadly all the signs are that the owners are going to call time and replace him.

M.suarez needs to be there

Mathias Suarez isn't that good. Bellamy may still go. It could end up-
- Luis Suarez
- Jackson Martinez
- Roberto Soldado
- Luuk De Jong
- Andy Carroll
Surely there wouldn't be a lack of goals with that lot. Suarez maybe used more out wide but plenty of fire power for 4 competitions.

Hi Ed,

Do you think/What is your opinion on Luis Suarez & Sebastian Coates playing in Olympics?

I think since any team can take 3 players above age 23, there is very good chance Luis will be among them since he is playing his trade in Britain.

To be fair it would be better for Luis not to play. So he can be more ready refreshing of the start of next season.
Coates should and will play it would help to gain experience.

Cheers

Bosco {Ed001's Note - I would prefer players to play in international tournaments myself. They gain experience and, hopefully, get a buzz of excitement and improve in confidence. They can be rested throughout the season if they get tired.}

I'll be in the Uruguay end laughing at the England supporters.

Eds,

With the rumours of KK stepping aside, quitting etc. Who would you think is the best option to take his place?

SA-Red {Ed001's Note - personally someone like Michael Laudrup or (if only dreams came true) Bielsa would be my choice.}

Michael Laudrup!

I am not impressed with him, though his sides play great attacking passing football he haven't achieved any noticeable success at club level expect for his days at Brondby.

If we can't get someone like Jurgen Klopp or Unai Emery. I would rather stick with kenny.

Bosco

Eds is that anything to do with that they are in la liga ? or anything to do with there teams play football? {Ed001's Note - it is the way their teams play football, especially Bielsa, who has shown he will fit the tactics to the players he has, but his primary aim is to play attacking football of a high quality. There is no real formation as such, just players looking for space when they have the ball and looking to win the ball back and fill in gaps in the defence when they haven't. His Chile side were so good to watch, and now he has got Bilbao looking good too. I like that he wants to play from the back as well.}

24 Apr 2012 14:45:34
Hi, eds, who is responsible for negotiating and signing players at this moment? or until a new dof steps in? {Ed001's Note - Henry himself will take the lead right now, with Werner as well.}

24 Apr 2012 14:44:33
I have a feeling the "big changes" suggested by Macca, will not be first team related. I imagine an announcement on stadium and coach and boot room shake up. KK to step aside, some sort of scout/ambassador role. It's clear KK was always only going to be to steady the ship.

Focus to be mainly young 18-23 squad players for the future,with gentle introduction of coady, Morgan, suso, sterling.

New DOF ,we will again focus on a young but experienced guy, alongside again a young(ish) 1st team coach.
Personally, I expect only a couple of signings for 1st team.
Out and out striker to me must be surely nailed on, but I won't expect Saldado, cavanni etall, probably another (younger, 23-25) Zatton or costagianos or similar.

Have no insider or ITK, just trying to judge how NESV would view this season, and I believe a youthfull approach to rebuild will be their focus.
YNWA
PIDDY.

Who should be your choice for manager if Kenny "Moves aside" ?

LiverBird

AVB? Valencia's coach( sorry can't remember the name)? Rafa?
With UEFA footy next season, personally I don't see it being anyone from England.
YNWA
PIDDY

AVB is short on Man Management skills and needs a few years in a non demanding clun to hone his managerial skills......

Unery is a very vocal coach whose USP is his communication skills.....What this means is he will struggle immensely when he manages in England.....He is more of Juande Ramos than a Rafael Benitez....

Brinigng Benitez so soon will be a massive mistake as he already knows many players in the squad....plus Benitez likes to work with a more than moderate budget and fixed ideas like 4-2-3-1, possession, zonal marking, counter attacking forward movements....Things like these will mean that weould have to wait for 2-3 years before his team takes shape.....

I am a big Benitez man and think he should not have been sacked but I am too allured with the attacking football Kenny is making the team play.

I will back Kenny all along.

any more managers?

all this rubbish about wanting rafa back he nearly ended liverpool he was boring football and spent money that we didn't even have

We was ranked number one team in Europe under him and feared all over Europe. h&g were stripping the club dry and u had Cecil the snake undermining him even with that he has left a youth set up
to be proud of he was the right man at the wrong time

But we never won the league title that we want the most. He had 6 years to do that and failed. No, thank you. Rafa is crap.

In five years at club rafas net spend was only 83,876,000.check it out on the site empire of the kop {Ed001's Note - does that take into account signing fees and pay offs? Because if not, it is not really a true net figure is it?}

Hi eds, just wondering has Michael Laudrups name ever been discussed as a Liverpool boss? i am a fan of the way he sets his teams up and think if Kenny steps aside he could be a brilliant boss {Ed001's Note - yes, many times his name has been put forward, last time we were looking he was new into a job so was not considered. I am hoping that this time he will considered, he would be near the top of my list of top choices.}

Ed,

I am fully supportive of King Kenny and think he has done a tremendous job everywhere except for the results and the Suarez - media handling.

In private, I wont even fault those. Even though I have never seen him play or manager before 2011, I am one of his biggest fans of his body of work.

He is in his sixties and through his work in football, both as player and manager, he is a true LEGEND. If it was up to me I would give him the hotseat for the next 4 yrs as well. He has made mistakes but then every does.

When you mentioned Laudraup, I thought of his work in Getafe which was really good. I also remember the last time we were on Roy's back you had mentioned Sean O Driscoll. Do you think he could take up a coaching role (if he does coach)?...

Though I would like AVB but I dont think he is ready for a big club like Liverpool...He has to work on his man managment skills after the Chelsea disaster.....

Klopp is enjoying his time in Bundesliga an would like to have a crack at Europe with Dortmund....

I am flabbergasted when people mention Deschamps...played in Italy in the 90s....Coaches similarly....Would not have had been to 2004 UCL final if Ranieri hadnot gone berserk.....Plus his brand of football is so bad that it borders on the state of unconsciousness for the audience......

Ralf Ragnick would be a good addition to the coaching team but he does not look like fitting into the shoes of an English club manager......

Guardiola, even if he leaves Barcelona, will take a season's sabbatical keeping in tune with his decision making pattern.....plus his no 2 is not keeping well.....so he looks off radar as welll.......

We are talking about someone who can bring us long term success and stability....Certainly Mourinho is not the man....

I see so many posts everyday saying that Kenny should leave or be sacked from our fans without a single consideration of the manager we might have to bring in after that event.....

Considering the circumstances in which he came in and the work which he has done, he should be commended for the job....People have no loyalty these days...Kenny will be the first to agree that we have not done well this season but I can say that I have enjoyed almost all the matches Liverpool have played this season except Bolton (away), Totteham (away), Wigan(home) and ManU(away). I may hav missed a couple.

Not one season under Rafa (I am a big Rafa fan) was better than this for a spectator.

We should be careful about what we ask. Just look at Wolves. They were in with a chance till he was there and once they couldnt get a replacement for him, they will be in Chamionship next season.

Hope FSG dont listen to the Internet and Media fans and realise that GRASS IS NOT ACTUALLY GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RIVER.

LiverBird

Not being funny but we need a safe pair of hand's to guide us back to the CL Rafael Benitez has those hand's!

Yes liverbird as you say tremendous job kenny has done bar the results!

How's about Sami Hyypia? ED {Ed001's Note - sorry but what about him?}

I think FSG'S demand/expectancy of champions league qualification with 7 brand new squad additions, only 2/3 recognised strikers at the club and a 'net' spend of roughly 40 million was too demanding anyway(just my opinion). add to that the injured steven gerrard not being expected back for months, kenny didn't stand a chance.
i'm a die hard red but i was not foolish enough to believe that the squad was (a) strong enough to finish higher than 5th let alone compete in 3 competitions and (b), that they would all settle 'quckly' enough to fulfill the expectancies of FSG.
it was evident even before christmas that the squad lacked an out and out goalscorer/fire power and that we was in a predicament. the club/owners didn't act and the shooting stats got worse not better.
i agree with liverbird, i haven't enjoyed watching the football played at times since barnes, beardsley & co's playing days. luck isn't an excuse but we haven't had hardly any if we're all honest.
this season the defence was solid with johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique and lucas in front of them. i'll stick my neck on the line with Liverbird and agree. i think that a creative playmaker, a right winger and a goalscorer would complete the squad. i thought this at christmas and i still think this now.
we have to wonder if lfc have missed a trick in january with jelavic (i didn't think it before he arrived at everton i add). but, his last 21 goals have taken 27 touches of the ball. predatorory goalscoring stats that don't come around too often, not for 5.5million anyway.
whatever happens with the managerial hot seat i expect the club will secure the 3 positions i said, a right winger, a goalscorer and a playmaker, a few players will leave, some youngsters will arrive, a couple may step up from the reserves and if kenny goes a new man will truly reap the rewards of what kenny's done so far.

s.p

Ed, just wondering out of my own interest really, who you would consider to be possibilities for the managerial role or who you would have on a shortlist? cheers. I85 {Ed001's Note - Bielsa, Laudrup, Borrell (if he wanted the role he deserves to be considered for it at least) would be my shortlist off the top of my head.}

Hi all. great site. more addictive than crack! A question for ed001. Your attitude seems to have changed a little toward KK. You've always said he was the right man and fully supported him. However, now you say you expect him step aside. Do you have any inside info or is this a gut feeling based on some of his comments in the press recently? I think it would be a shame as the team are playing good football this year (if a bit impotent in front of goal). They pass it well, have completely dominated 80% of the games this season and make loads of chances. Despite the utter frustration that they cant score, ive actually really enjoyed watching them this year which wasn't really the case under hodgson, rafa or even Houllier who all played football geared around snatching a goal and sitting on it.

Interested to hear your thoughts ed001.

Red Pete. {Ed001's Note - I have never said any of that, apart from expecting him to move aside at the end of the season. I still feel he should get more time, no manager can completely overhaul a club in one season. But I do very much expect there to be wholesale changes at the top, with Dalglish moving aside being just one part of it.}

Oh dear, Aquilani again!
Indian Buzzer

Ed please answer the question, is it a perosnal opinon or based on what you have been told? {Ed001's Note - what I have been told, sorry I thought I had said that, my apologies.}

Red Pete! I'll give the Hodgson comment but Houllier and Rafa? Houllier won 3 domestic cup's and a European trophy! Rafa won 1 domestic and 1 European cup! under Rafa for 2/3 season's we were ranked number 1 in Europe!

Ed01
if you say kk is moving.i will be gutted.and my season ticket will go.
i think its a disgrace, everyone wants us to be like chelsea.get rid of a manager, every year.
so if we get a new manager thats means it will take at least another couple of seasons to gel theplayers .
oh well at least i will take my daugthers to disney world instead, .
plus i think some of the fans have been a disgrace to. from the first match of the season some of the fans have moaned about the new players. never gave them a chance.
plus its so quiet at anfield these days no wonder the new players
are lacking confidence.

thanks for all your help ed
chrissy {Ed001's Note - I am just hoping that we settle down with a team, backroom and on the pitch, that can stay together and build a framework for long term success. If that means Dalglish has to go, then fine, but if it is just the beginning of revolving door for managers, then that is not how it should be. I can understand why it could be felt that Dalglish is too big a personality for anyone coming in over him, even though I don't think he would fight it, I think he would do anything for our club.}

Thankyou ed for replying to my post.
i know kk will do the best for our club. just wish the owners would let him stay,

chrissy {Ed001's Note - you're welcome mate.}

Eds,
"wholesale changes" in management staff or playing staff? or both? {Ed001's Note - back room changes will be the main thing, impossible to say on the playing side until that has happened. So it could end up being both!}

Eds,
When do you expect this changes to happen?
Shortly after the end of the season? Or not until after the Euros? {Ed001's Note - as soon as possible I would expect. Maybe even before the season finishes.}

Eds is it also possible that we will get a new manager BEFORE the end of the season? {Ed003's Note - I wouldnt think so}

The recent news of Alberto Aquilani's impending returning to Liverpool from AC Milan in the summer is just another example of how far Liverpool have fallen in recent times. We've been walked over again, did we not learn from the Aquilani to Juventus farce from last season? A player who has the ability to make a difference to our current squad is currently registered to another club and LFC are paying £40,000 a week for the privilege! It doesn't matter whether he wants to be here or not, he is contracted to us, and if he is selected to play he should play.

IMO he has been treated pretty poorly by Liverpool. Ok he was injured in his 1st season, but when he played, he played well and looked a good player, not a £20m player but certainly a good signing. I remember going to a game vs Portsmouth when we beat them 4-1, AA looked brilliant against an albeit poor Portsmouth team. Then Hodgson decides to loan him to Juve and spend £4.5m on Poulsen from Juve?!?!?! he should have been here last season. Then last summer, he was the stand out player in pre-season, yet he was swept aside for the likes of Adam and Henderson. I certainly think if he had been treated a little better, he would be playing for us now. He certainly could have played the no.10 role to allow Suarez to focus on putting the ball in the net

RedSG {Ed001's Note - treated better? Are you for real? The club has bent over backwards for him and he can't even be bothered to train unless he feels like it.}

Aquilani is one of the laziest footballers on the planet. Yeah he might have the talent, but he has messed up big time bcoz of his poor attitude. If he apologizes to the club, takes a wage drop n starts training regularly, i wud give him a season to redeem himself coz he definitely has the talent and creativity. Otherwise just tell him to f**k off.
Indian Buzzer

Thought Aquilani was contractually due to become a Meelan player should he play 25 games for them this season? Last time I checked he was on 24 games in March. Anyone know what the situation is as it stands? Cheers, Blood red

As a whole he's about as useful as an inflatable dartboard...!

Well said Ed get rid of him straight away

I was of the understanding his ankle injury led to him wanting him to sit out training, but if as you say is that he refused to train (without reason) is the case, the clubs stance with trying to move him on is understandable. I remember Rafa did question his desire, if he was mentally poor why was he signed? Think he has cost £1m per game he has played!

RedSG {Ed001's Note - Rafa himself said to a good friend of mine that he was not the player he was led to believe he would be. He felt the scouts let him down, not for the first time.}

The amount of money he has pocketed in wages when not playing for us is shocking. If we were paying half of the £80k a week (£40k) when he was at both Juve and Milan...

In 1 month: £40k x 4 weeks = £160k
Over two years: £160k x 24 months = Just over £3.8 million...

I know it's not completely accurate, but it's still the most wage money in LFC HISTORY we've given to someone whilst hasn't been playing for us. Absolutely outrageous.

Hey Ed's, there is somthing i have been thinking about for a while and i can guess what you are going to write but here is some food for thought.

Considering ALOT of LFC fans are ready to prematurely boot Dalglish back to the dark of LFC where he resided before he answered the call and saved us from a potentialy worse season that this one, lead by Woy.

I can think of a very small list of Managers that would improve on our beloved club for next season. The only person i can think would cut this job other than Fergie (sorry for even mentioning his name), Mancini, Wenger or Redknapp who are all at other decent clubs would be Jose Morihno.

As impossibly desperate as these thoughts of mine are, do you think there would be a slight hunger in the back of his mind to take what was once a great club, steer us out of this current funk and back to glory?

He seems to be the type of manager that relishes a challege. Although FSG's pockets are not bottomless, from what we have seen of them so far i believe they would spend in order to get to number 1.

Jose has already said he would come back to the EPL and if i recall correctly, Real Madrid were not happy with his attitude and behaviour this season.

Any Chance even if very small?
Josh LFC {Ed001's Note - none, thankfully. Redknapp really? Did you really say he would be good? You might want to ask the Spurs fans about him.}

Josh I wouldnt take any notice of Ed001 or Ed002.

These are the guys that said there was no chance of Suarez coming and no chance Torres was leaving...their track record leaves a lot to be desired!
{Ed001's Note - why lie? You are completely and utterly wrong. I said I believed it to be Eriksen we were tracking and trying to buy. Not that there was no chance of Suarez coming, but that I didn't believe it was him we were trying to get. Ed002 was the one that got torn to shreds on here for saying Torres was going, whereas I said he had promised to stay until the end of the season, so yes I was wrong as I trusted he meant to keep his promise.}

I don't understand why these unnamed t**ts have to slate the ED's, if you don't believe them why are you on the site in the 1st place? i'm literally hooked to this site for 6 years now when we just had footballrumours.co.uk , remember those good old times ED001 when 80% of the rumours on that page were of Liverpool?

Daniel Rogers. {Ed001's Note - I remember it well! It almost felt like a Liverpool site at times.}

Insult needed Daniel?

Apparently the Jackson Martinez deal is true. He's costing us around $9 million or £5ish million and the inital down payment of $3 million seems to have definitely been made. However we won't see him here next year because it looks like he has to go on loan for a year because of the work permit situation. Never having heard of him before, I read something that Tim Vickery said about him which is that his general hold up play is poor and he's not great with his back to goal, but he's a great finisher when he gets a chance. Sounds like Falcao to me, who generally can't do anything more in a game than stick the ball away. I think if we'd have had falcao or a player of Falcao's ability to stick the ball in the net this year, we'd be top 3, so if this Martinez is as good as possible say, he'll be a welcome addition for me.

Sean

Are you sure on loan? thought he was around 26 now. Can't see it.

Eds any idea what will be happening with any of the reserves? Some are asking for some to be integrated into the first team but I don't really see any who are ready. Sterling is too small and is still well defended in most reserve games, ecclestone often gets the ball stuck under his feet, ngoo in my opinion is an awful player who often looks like he's going to fall over on a run and Suso is so inconsistent its not even funny. {Ed001's Note - a fair few will go out on loan to get regular first team football, that is what they need to help them improve.}

I think Ngoo's a pretty decent player, I'll admit that he does look awful, but he's got potential to make it.

eds, isn't macca in a win win situation?
he says which players are the clubs targets and if they work out he gets the credit and if they don't work out he can just say well things change and we tried to sign them or something along those lines...

im not having a go or anything because i couldn't care a less about liverpool because im a united supporter.

JK92 {Ed001's Note - that depends, usually it can be found out if an attempt really was made to sign a player.}

No he isnt mate, because if things do change as with Ashley Young, Macca gets slated by all the jealous fools around.
Thats not a win of any sort in my eyes, its a guy sharing info that is of vital importance to LFC fans, and getting slated when things he cant control go wrong.
But I'd still trust his word over any other poster on this site, or any other transfer I've seen. Bar none.
What would people prefer- the crazy schoolboy stories made up on caughtoffside, or the mad rumours about Hazard being spotted at JL airport every five minutes during the whole transfer window?
At least with Macca's posts you know there's a decent chance it might work out the way he says.
Soldado was mentioned, but its early days and a few clubs will want him, so nothing is guaranteed.
I'd rather have an idea who we're chasing for real from Macca (even if it falls through), than read all the endless crap about someone's uncle's dog's hairdresser spotting Messi at Melwood.

Thanks mate.

Cheers

Macca

Hi EDz..just a 1st tym poster

I'm just curious ed what u think of playing the likes of hendo,adam,carroll and downing next season like every game the lads get stick from EVERYONE but when watching them the next game we all wish they do well,every game its a what if they come good!the way I see it is every game Iv seen them play this season they looked really bad in a liverpool shirt we can't really sell them cos they only here for a year!and they don't want 2 warm the beanch whole of next season wid any1 of them leave cos I'm sho they are guys out there that will give 100 percent for our club..? {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I am not sure what you are trying to ask.}

there is no point of loaning aquilani to a club who are interested in buying him after, then they tell us that they don't want to buy him. we might as well keep him because he is better than bloody spearing, henderson and adam. these clubs need to stop playing with us and f**k off.

24 Apr 2012 13:02:49
Liverpool have now decided to abandon the policy of buying young players in the hope that their potential will reach the level required to play for L.F.C. A strong rumour KD will try to sign Rush, Barnes and Beardsley during the summer.

I really don't see why anyone would want Aquilani back to stay?! He's fat, has a bad attitude, not actually that good and quite clearly doesn't want to play for the club!! It's probably the same people that want Torres back, can't these people see that these players do not want to play for us so I for one would not want them anyway near the club! Sell Aquilani or release him he doesn't deserve to be here. Says a lot when no one will even buy him.

These Returning Rafa rumours seem to be picking up some speed.

Rafa frustrated the life out of me in his final season. He seemed to be in a dark dark place and his stubborness was clear for all to see with his choice of players, tactics and especially his substitutions. His long battle with Parry and the battle between H&G with little prospect of a golden sky, got the better of him.

I was one of the fans that said 'thanks Rafa, but its time to move on' back in 2010. Hindsight is an amazing thing though.

I think he would come back a better manager. There would be absolutely none of the political distractions he had under the old regime. FSG are firmly in charge and will dictate terms. They know he is desperate to come back.

I dont want to disrespect the King who still holds the job, but there is definately a role for him at LFC, but this seems pretty credible as a scenario.

Before slating him, lets just remember the conditions Rafa was working under during his last season. He was frustrating sure, but short of Mourinho or Guardiola, there are not too many better PROVEN managers out there and NONE with his kind of afinity with the Reds. FACT!!

Red G

RAFA coming back

Well if we are reliant on Rafa we are well and truly screw*d

Rafa is a fruitcake

His rant at AF cost us the title in 2009 he's more interested in power and arguing than much else

Time to move on there are more managers in the big bold world than Rafa

If Kenny leaves? You might well be saying the same thing in 12 months time. Ground hog Day!
kidmillions

=====================

You must have slept through the 2007/2008 season then...
Aqua did not end up costing any where near the 20m and I think his "average" from midfield is far better than 35m striker we have.
And why Rafa was to blame for the mess at the end of the G&H era, how much do you know about the club?

Roy {Ed001's Note - because G&H's mess was down to lacking the money needed to invest due to the recession. Rafa overspent, which was a major problem, even though he knew the club had no money, he was always wanting more.}

Rubbish .. just because you dont like him.
He had to sell to buy and was never given all the money from the players sold .. you know that .. but you would prefer spending 35m+20m+16m+8m on useless garbage.

My two pence!

Two cup finals in one under-par performing season. Many people don't see this as progress, yet look at the League position and become outraged.

It needs to be looked at holistically, last season we were knocked out of the domestic cups by Northampton and Man United. Now this season have got to Wembley twice, and have a cup finals to go. Beating the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd to get there.

Now we have qualified for the under rated (especially the latter stages) Europa cup via the League cup win, which is progress on last season, as we didn't qualify. So that's two finals, one cup and Europa secured for next season, on last season. Anyone else see this as a good thing, am i missing the point of football? Cup finals, big games and the taste of glory...

The League position is a huge cause for concern, no if's, no buts. It makes shocking reading, mainly because we have played extremely positive football for the majority of the season.

Just one glance at how many times Liverpool have hit the wood work and controlled possession throughout games shows that Liverpool have no problem getting in the final third, or breaking down defences, this with 10 players and a donkey up front for most of the season, although i am a Carroll fan, the lad has looked a lot more interested since the Newcastle game.

People, we are literally inches away from being a top four challenging team, we don't need to over haul the squad, Kenny or Clarkey. Some minor tweaking in the Summer, a little bit more time and we'll be challenging for a top four position.

I'm realistic, i was happy to see this season as a transitional season with 9 new players coming in, it was always going to take time, but to have had such a great cup run, twice! With Europa bagged as well. I think it is showing great leaps, never mind the steps; forward.

Our home form is what's the major problem that and goals, good news is, that's the easier of the two (away form being the other), to fix and put right.

I'm not supporting Kenny as the manager because he was a great player, or a great player manager, or manager years ago. I'm supporting him right now because he's delivering right now.

If the football was negative/defensive then i'd be calling for Kenny's head, but it's not. That's why so many people are frustrated, because we are doing most of the things right, like hitting the wood work 3 times and dominating the match, yet losing by one defensive error.

Ollieston

I agree with you mate that we are a lot closer from being a top four side than it looks at the moment, and don't forget another improvement on last season- we've at least qualified for the Europa league.

If KK is to be asked to step into another role, I would favour Rafa over many others.
With a DoF to stop him signing every two-bit player in Europe for silly wages, with a secure ownership situation and guaranteed transfer funds, I think he could get us back into the top 4 and challenging again.
Problem is, he took maybe three seasons to really challenge for the league title, so all the people screaming for KK's head now will be screaming just as loud for the next manager's head when lose a game, or if we are fighting for 4th place season.

And if we get 5th place, and no cups? Will the next guy then be sacked after one season?
How long should you fairly give a manager to turn it around? For me, KK deserves a bit more time.

Well said Ollieston !

Can't believe the slating Carroll keeps getting! To come from a club he didn't want to leave at the price we paid for him can take a lot out of a person. The press and the general public slate him enough. We as Liverpool fans should be supportive no matter what! I believe he will come good. I said the same of Lucas when everyone wanted him out, and now that he's injured look how much praise he gets now and how much we've missed him! Say what you want in my opinion andy Carroll is a power house and will be staying for at least 5 years........ So get used to it!

I agree yeh wen he first came there was a lot of pressure on himhe was overwoeght loved a drink he wasn't used to getting like 80k or so a week spendin it on cars etc.. buh now hes use to it he has raised his game the will be foghting for evryball next season and bully defenders again {Ed001's Note - he isn't getting 80k a week, Suarez was the highest paid player we brought in and he is paid less than that.}

It is of course unfair to slate Carroll, but since were struggling to score goals coincidentally and unintentionally Carroll will be blamed. Cause we paid 35M for him and with that price tag there comes expectations especially at a club like Liverpool who has such a illustrious history of great lethal strikers.

And comparing Lucas to him is a bit ironic, Lucas for a mare 6M , Carroll for a record breaking 35M!

Hey eds any notions of an android and iphone app? With ability to post replys etc native to the phones as replys sometimes a little clunky ? {Ed001's Note - we are trying to make the reply button work fine, but an app is difficult, they cost too much to make and list.}

Ed if an app was to become available I'd happily pay to download it to my phone, great site! {Ed001's Note - if ever we get the chance to make one, we will, it is just the initial cost of paying a programmer and then listing it on the Apple and Android store that is the problem.}

Ed001, I have written a couple of apps and would be happy to make something if the requirements aren't too complex.
If you are interested can you give a very brief description of what you would like the app to do and if it is simple enough I will see if I can put it together.

Cheers
Andrew {Ed001's Note - could you email Ed033 through the contact form, he is the tech side of things, and he can explain. I have absolutely no idea what would be wanted by a phone app for the site myself!}

Surely with the amount of traffic you guys get, if we were all to donate £1 or a couple of quid, that could help towards the development of an app? I have no idea how much they cost, but every little helps right?

After all the work you do and sh*t you put up with day in, day out, I'm sure most posters wouldn't mind..

Who are we going to buy or are we interested in then because whenever a name is mentioned it seems to be no every time?

By the sounds of you lot on here I'd say Soladado, Muniain, Martinez, Ozil, Ramos, Marcelo, Ronaldo + possibly Messi, for some reason Liverpool fans think they can still attract quality, don't know why past history makes them so fickle though

LATEST BREAKING NEWS!
AQUAMAN is coming back home, AC have decided not to take up the offer, that means we will at least have the best pre-season player back to buck up our poor midfield ...Gerro actually said Aquaman was the best player he has played with, remember? HE IS BACK! Hope KD does not mess it up again as Comolli wanted to get rid of Aquaman, Kuyt, Maxi who are loyal players for LFC, why send them on loan if KD had not approve? {Ed023's Note - He will either be sold, loaned out again or released}

Since when has Liverpool been Aquilanis home?! He's been here for a total of about 5 mins and doesn't even want to be in england!

To all you deluded fans kenny will not be given another job at liverpool because the owners don't really care about what your name is just what you can do for the club. Kenny has no use to liverpool after he is sacked.Why should they give him another role in the club he aint that important and he can't offer anything to the club. He is the worst manager in the league for PR if anything he would only make things worse for a new manager.

Wow....I hope you realise how horribly offensive you are being to Kenny Dalglish, he may not be your choice, you may not rate him as a good manger and he has had a terrible season but kenny will ALWAYS be important to Liverpool F.C.....please hang your head in shame!!

~~~
The time for Kenny to move on, is after the final,
Win lose or draw and penalties etc...
he has to go, he makes LFC look like a horses a*** in the publics eye, it's ok to stand up for yourself, but he just oozes a kind of resentment that just doesn't add up, if we were challenging for the PL title then I would want him to tell people where to go, but this is not the case and he needs to wake up to the fact that his approach is not only out of step with our league form and position , it just reeks of ineptitude and fear of being found out.
BTW I don't care what KK diehards think, this is my firm and totally objective opinion.
just a thought for the future , if i was liverpool i would NEVER NEVER loan to any club in italy,they see the big pound signs when any epl club wants to buy any of there players, ie aqualini then they string him and liverpool along for over 2 years about buying him,my message to liverpool dont ever loan to italy.
frankyscouse
Is this based on only aqualani, u do realise he is italian, so its probably pretty prestigious to aly for ac milan, if they didnt enjoy his time here and gets a chance with a club he is more attraqcted to, then u cant do to much.
i wouldnt say never loan out to an italian club. tho why send a player to get playing time when the italian league is pretty different style to the english leagues.
aussiepool tristan
aussiepool tristan {Ed023's Note - He doesn't want to play in England anymore so it would of been pointless to try loan him out to another English side when he would of rejected the move.}
Makes sense, thanks for the reply ed, shame tho, he did seem to have something. gotta say hes looked a bit pudgy of late.
aussiepol tristan {Ed023's Note - I just don't like to get hyped over a player who doesn't want to play Liverpool. If only knew how lucky he is/was to put that jersey on}
I play 4 a side indoor, and every week i get a my liverpool white shorts on and im playing like suarez and gerrard in my head every week(with the ability of an old lady im sure). haha if i was out on anfield playing ... ahhhh anfieldgasm!!
but seriously, if he doesnt wanna be here cant force him and wouldnt want him either. that simple. sign me up ha ill play back up keeper to brad jones!
aussiepool tristan
Aquilani has ever said he didnt want to play for LFC...its all media BS. He has come out many times and expressed his desire to stay at the club.
If Benitez comes back or any other high profile foreign manager then Aquilani will stay.
I sometimes wonder where you Eds get your info from because I have soent many hours trying to find something that indicates Aquilani doesnt wanna be here and have never found anything to support this claim. You eds always say "its well known he doesnt wanna be here" but can never support this with a quote or any other piece of info.
Macca can you shed some light on the whole Aqua thing? {Ed001's Note - ok mate, you believe what you want to believe and don't bother to ask why he was sent on loan even though we were short of players like him.}
He has only ever said that he wants to stay when it looked like he might not get a move to cover his own back. He's over rated, unfit, uninterested and has done a good job of ruining his own career, just don't see why anyone would want him back!?!!
Ed001 mate I do actually know my stuff.
Aquilani had a tough time settling in which manifested itself in him moaning and feigning injury on many ocassions.
I totally empathise with his situation and any player coming from abraod especially an italian will struggle initially to adapt. Add to this he had a serious injury to contend with and the manager that brought him in changed and its no wonder the guy was overwhelmed with stress.
Im not saying his behaviour is excusable but it is understandable and he should have been given more time to adapt.
Theres no way he expressed a desire to leave, management decided he was a bad apple and didnt like his attitude.
If Benitez had stayed on Aquilani would be a first team regular for LFC right now and if Benitez of a foreign coach takes the helm next year then expect to see Aquilani given another chance.
Again you had an opportunity to explain why you believe Aqua doesnt want to be here and you again havent provided a decent answer...you dont really know anything and you're just recycling the nonsense the media has been spouting. {Ed001's Note - I don't read the media, but you have proved my point, he feigned injury etc. Give it a rest, you clearly have no clue about what goes on if you are sympathising with a multi-millionaire brat who can't even be bothered to play for us.}
Fine but I do think you are missin the bigger picture.
He is a quality player and was one of our better players during his last pre-season with us...I would take Aquilani and his bad attitude over Adam any day of the week and I suspect most managers with any sense would too.
I dont think Mourinho, Ferguson or Wenger would offload Aqua and bring in a second-rate, overweight, lightweight Charlie Adam...not a chance.
And you are clearly not a very well adjusted person if you dont sympathasise with a foreigner moving to another country with a long term injury and then having to deal with a change of manager in a team in complete turmoil...this would be stressful and problematic for anybody.
I suspect that if Aquilani was scouse or english you would be more understanding. {Ed001's Note - I have no sympathy for him because he was playing up for Rafa, feigning injury etc. His nationality is not relevant at all to the fact that he is a lazy, work shy waste of space. You can suspect what you like, it just shows your own bias up if you think that of others. But then you believe a few pre-season performances makes him good enough, I remember Voronin looking great in pre-season, perhaps you would like him back too?}
I would of thought Aqua's wage packet should of cushioned the blow of having to play for Liverpool. In the 70s I was one on Maggies millions. I got on me bike went down the smoke and got a job, not a lot of money but a job. Missed the kids but enjoyed seeing them once a month, did that for 2 years. So fook Aqua and players like him!!
This isnt the same guy tht wanted paul konchesky and the other heap of s**te back is it.aqua isnt good enough, never has, never will be! to play for our mighty LFC
Tom werner said in a interview on lfctv that we have the finances 2 compete with anybody in football and that we are working hard on targets for the summer now do u all really think that he is going 2 say those things then only give us 25- 30 mil plus player sales!! I think everyone needs 2 stop reading the papers!! Or am i missing something? King kenny_ {Ed002's Note - You misunderstood what he said I am afraid. He did not say "finances".}
I am firmly of the opinion that NOW is the time for some of the reserves to be given 20 to 30 mins run outs in our remaining premier league games, pre season friendlys and part of the squad (with little to no chance of coming on) are not enough. The season is a bust now, who knows, the UNKNOWN factor of the younger players may well help the team as well as their development. Case in.point papis cisse got newcastle back on track wen arriving in january, I know he is not a youth player but I am talking of the UNKNOWN factor here.
We just need a Goalscorer. There has to be room in the Squad/Team for the best crop of youngsters coming through we have had in a long time. Buying too many players now, will only lead to lack of opportunities for them leading to disillusion and make them think about leaving.
kidmillions
It's a good team though!
Sturridge is crap , far to ball greedy always ops for the shot even though others players are 90% in a better position.
Tom.
Players who are a bit greedy in the final 3rd who opt to shoot more might just be what we need right now!!!
24 Apr 2012 09:16:19
Why would we keep kuyt he brings nothing to the game anymore,yes he runs alot but he cant pass,shoot or cross
Kuyt has been a great player and loyal servant for Liverpool. He read one of the Sermons at the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield last week. Heartfelt it was too, brought a tear to my eye. I have nothing but respect for him.
kidmillions
Totally agree with kid...what a servant and consumate proffessional does more donkey work than, well, A DONKEY, plays any position as if its natural to him, never ever complains, ask him to do a job...its done, and when stuck up too puts em away. In my book a legend, I am also
I can understand dissing a player like Aquilani who doesn't even want to play in England, or Torres who left us desperate for a striker at the end of the Jan window, or even Carroll, who in the early days might have allowed his liking for a pint to hinder his progress and performances.
Kuyt is no Lionel Messi, but he is a model professional who gives his all for that shirt nearly every week.
I agree that maybe his future role will be more limited if we get a top quality right winger, and that he might leave, but please don't disrespect a fine player and a great servant to the club.
If and when he goes, he deserves the greatest respect.
Yes Kuyt has been loyal and i met him in South Africa during the World Cup ... he saw the liverpool shirts and came over to us immediately ... BUT he lacks quality ... yes he works hard and yes he will play in any position but i promise you if Liverpool paid me a fifth of what he gets i could do the same ... i would be super fit hardworking and id probably score more goals than he does ... we love him for what he has done but his game is based on hard work and stamina and as he gets older he wont be the harassing force he once was
True kid and remember he not just any dirk he's our dirk, and a dirk is for life not just for special occasions...LEGEND works hard never complains and does loads for the local area and local charities/organisations always polite great with the fans and kids and I hope he stays around for many years to come or comes back for an upstairs or community job with liverpool.
To ed001: What makes u think Mourinho cheats? Yeah sometimes his players feign injuries n stuff, but so do barca, ribery, drogba... He may have a huge ego, but no doubt he is the BEST MANAGER in the world.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - what makes me think that? Do you actually watch football and see how his team plays? Sounds like you don't have a clue if you even have to ask such a ludicrous question. Did you not see the disgusting tactics his Porto team employed to win the Champions League final?}
If he took over here, he'd kill our reputation even more, he'd turn agger, skrtel and coates into the thugs marcello and pepe are. (cant believe some of the tackles they get away with) turn suarez into the pompous pretty boy ronaldo is, sure he's got skills and all but id rather my players play for the shirt rather then for a billboard of themselves in designer clothes.
keep dalglish on or push him into an ambassador role along with carragher. no idea about a replacement though?
no one seems good enough, im hugely biased tho
aussiepool tristan
Not to mention his off the pitch behaviour.
To label him as the best manager in the world is a bit over the top too, there are quite a few managers, that given the resources he's given, and license to bring a club into disrepute at any time, would have won as much as him, if not more.
Red7.
Fans would not want him here. There will be uproar if that ever happened. Thank God it never will.
DaveyBootle
Aussiepool tristan: made me laugh; I like bias:)
kidmillions
His facts speak for themselves, he's on the verge of his 4th title in 4 different leagues, and could win cl with 3 clubs, that's amazing, he is the best manager in the league and we would be lucky to get him. He would win the league, something we havnt seem for a long time. Don't know how you can comment on his behaviour, just look at kennys this season, his interviews, the Suarez saga.
Well i am, cant help it. im australian (obviously) and i cant stand timmy cahill, even in the national games im praying for an injury and immediate substitution.
aussiepool tristan
ps congrats to the roar, was at the game and tho controversal we deserved the win.
Never been a fan of his approach to winning games, can you explain what you mean about his disgusting tactics against monaco though Ed? didn't see the final back in 2004 and can't find any highlights...
p.s. kenny for me please
x {Ed001's Note - why don't you look up a link for the match and watch it?}
You lot need to start adopting a winning mentality. I never understood why people are so intimidated and indifferent to people who are self-assured and confident in society....this seems to be the issue with Mourinho, he's just far too cocky and confident for some of you.
You guys have said you'd like Brendan Rodgers, Martin O'neil, Michael Laudrup, AVB, Martinez, Emery and all these other unproven managers but you wouldnt want the best manager in the world who is on the way to winning 3 champions league titles and his 4th league title in 4 different leagues?? Its just unbelievable.
How can you expect our owners or players to have ambition if our own fans evidently have so little?
The 2 best managers in europe arguably are available this summer and you guys are not interested in any of them? It beggars belief, it really does.
You say Mourinho will turn LFC into this and that but look what Kenny has turned us into? He had been a PR catastrophy and we are a laughing stock all around the world...how can it possibly get any worse?
The way Mourinho sets his teams out gets results, end of. I just dont get this loser mentality at all...im a winner and want the best all of the time and as long as I get results in an ethical legal way then im not too concerned about anything else.
Mourinho or Benitez are the only options...fortunately it does seem that the owners are winners so they will go away with their advisers, sit down and base any decision on the recruitment of a manager on stats and science and Mourinho and Benitez will come up top of their shortlist.
Madrid are on their way to winning the Champions League? You might want to watch Wednesday to make sure Munich doesn't beat them again.
an american red
Since Porto Mourinho has only been at teams who are willing to offer him loads of money ... Yes he is a good manager but i agree that his tactics are rather filthy ... He taunts opposition players and management and he would never fit in at Liverpool ... Football is about winning but given a choice i would choose King Kenny over Mourinho every day
Aussiepool tristan, I was enjoying your posts right up to the point you congratulated roar.
Didnt see the game, but it is just a given that Perth must have been far superior and wouold no doubt have buried the game if not for some back luck (I assume the did a Liverpool and hit the post 3 times, had the ball cleared off the line twice and the Roar keeper played the game of his life).
Even with the frustration of outclassing the opposition to no avail, to lose to a well made goal would be bearable, but to lose to a penalty decision like that was simply a travesty!
To the poster who says he'd take Kenny over Mourinho anyday...this is the reason why we are languishing in 8th and have had no champions league football for 2 years, you have no ambition.
Do you think Man Utd are gna think twice about hiring Mourinho when Fergie retires? Do you think the board at Old Trafford are onna be sitting there twiddling their thumbs chattin bout how Mourinhos is too much of a loose cannon?
No, they wont. They demand the best and will recruit accordingly regardless of sentiment.
Of course Mourinho taunts opposition fans and managers, its called mind games and more importantly PASSION and it works.
Real Madrid, Chelsea and Inter sat down and decided they needed a world class manager to achieve success and they bloody got what they paid for.
Kenny Dalglish is not fit for purpose, he's a total and utter complete absolute liability.
You can lick his scrotum all you want but it aint gonna change the fact that he's out of touch, out of his depth and out of sync with modern football.
Kenny over Mourinho? ...whats the matter with you? {Ed001's Note - perhaps he just has morals unlike yourself, who seems to be all about the glory at the expense of anything else.}
Olympique Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is interesting Valencia.
Valencia are in the market for a new coach after Unai Emery chose to leave the Mestalla. Emery will step down at the end of the season.
L'Equipe says among the candidates to replace Emery is Deschamps, who knows the city of Valencia well. Any chance he will come to Liverpool?
We have a manager.
Real Madrid is where we'll be seeing Emery.
Lol so chelsea hire someone like morinho i.e avb and now weve gonna hire someone like rafa are we?
Even if Dalglish is asked to step down you have to give him credit for steadying the ship. I don't believe any manager would have got top 4 even with spending 50 million. He has won 2 trophies with A LOT of first team players out such as Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez, Agger and Johnson. Name another team who have had 5 of their best players out for long periods of the season. Next season will be bright, especially with extra tweeking. Plus, what kind of player wouldn't want to come to a team who won BOTH their domestic cups in the hardest league in the world?
BthekingB
We havent won the FA Cup yet but I do admire your optimism.
We havent won 2 yet and mite not win fa cup chelsea are a fantastic team under di matteo im all for confidence but dont say it till its in the bag
Still not learning your lesson BthekingB?
Banter aside, i would say its 50/50 regardless of form going into it, but too say your win is definite is just stupid, we've conceded 1 goal against Spurs, Barca, and Arsenal in a week, under RDM we aint the same time you've had the beating of this season
SHED END
Good luck to Chelsea tonight, is what I say.
I really think that Kenny should be playing Shelvey and Sterling week in week out from here on out [excluding the FA Cup final]. As well as Henderson in the middle. They need games in their natural position and we have absolutely nothing to play for in the league as I am not slightly bothered if Everton finish above us.
BthekingB
I find it deeply disturbing that as a Liverpool fan you are not bothered if everton finish above us!! We'd never live it down for 12 months!
Aldos tash
The thing that gets me is how far behind united we are, there the leaders, don't care where everton are, pathetic attemp a the league this season.
this is to you season ticket holders who think their opinions are worth more then those "armchair" fans. great you spend money. a lot of it at that. but really that is your choice. just like it is my choice to buy jerseys and watch every game on TV (only missed one). im a 15 year old from Canada id kill to be at those games with the rest of ya, but cut some people slack its ridiculous. i know things have not gone our way this season but we have picked a manager we have to stay with him. id say the same if we picked up a 16 year old from antartica. all this change puts even more pressure on the players. especially the young ones like hendo who play well all game most games and then make one pass so you call for his head. we have no consistency in our fans. we cheer one week and dont the next. we have the best fans in the world for one reason, the atmosphere. through good and bad. we are not relegated and we now have europa. id love Champions league but we have a young squad who we put together after clearing house. expecting a top 4 finish was ridiculous. especially this season. NUFC and a few others even Everton, we have had some bad luck and some times we needed a poacher. i could ramble on some more but im going to say thanks for reading and back kenny while he i here. thanks JLFC
Super Intelligent Post:
kidmillions
Well said mate- youngsters are supposed to be fickle and to want everything right now, but you've got more positivity, maturity and patience than half of the older guys who only post here because it gives them a change to whine and complain every time we lose a goal.
Good Post, but I respectfully disagree about your comments that a top 4 finish was ridiculous. No team in the big 6 have been at their best this year (which is partly why newcastle are doing so well) but with the money weve spent and the time weve had there was no reason for us not to be challenging top 4 unusre whether KK is the man for us but if we win Fa Cup hard i think we should let him carry on i think...
You're right mate, there is an arrogance with Season ticket holders. I think the attitude is that of unity. There will always be a difference of opinion though at the ground but the general consensus is that of loyalty. That's the problem. If ALL of us supporters could attend the game you would tend to find a more united opinion and not that of an opinion from afar. I think it's just frustration with many season ticket holders being fiercely loyal and frustrated with anti-Kenny and anti-player opinions. To be honest, I don't think many people get away with criticising the manager or players as they are usually shut up in the ground. I often post on here about the same thing yet struggle to get my point over and appear arrogant myself (which I can assure you I'm not). I think it's just a loyalty thing and I personally take offence to criticism of anything to do with Liverpool as I would my family or siblings etc. Keep up the support kidda.
DaveyBootle
Fantastic post JLFC! Your wise beyond your years!
Daft post of arrogance.Yea we choose to go because we love the club lad,thats why its our choice.Aloof,jealous little git
Im going to the one in TORONTO. its not arrogance im saying dont you think its a wee bit ridiculous to say you are all better then the rest when we "international supporters" cannot make games, none of us can just fly all willy nilly across the space of the earth to see one cup game. its not finacially viable. id love to be there just as much as anyone it just isnt possible. so i do watch the game at home. i have only missed one game. i have bought two jerseys JUST THIS SEASON. hell even the last few footy games i have brought my Laptop and put it behind my net so i could watch the game when the ball is in the oposing end. just putting it out there but we dont all live in england and in fact. with out international supporters you would be out millions annually. so please keep telling off us group of "armchair Supporters" JLFC
hey eds
i like watching liga bbva football because i feel they pass and move at a fast tempo with a purpose. i think thats what we need players who attack for a purpose at a fast pace instead of what weve got.
i just wanted to now if we have strong intrest in any spanish players or players from liga bbva?
cheers {Ed002's Note - If you keep up with the posts you will see where there is interest.}
I know i have a strong interest in the style of football and like many of the players in the league. But if you look back over liverpool's style of play over the past... 20-30 years, you'll see a fairly similar philosophy has been followed, obviously not as "ticy-tacky", but such is the english premier league. But there are many players to watch.
Martinez, Susaeta, Herrera, Iturraspe, Muniain, De Marcos, Suarez, Navas, Reyes, Negredo, Cazorla, Parejo, Adrian...
Jesus, i could go on all day...
Bored at work so I thought I would send in what I would like to see come to fruition.
Firstly, as much as I love Kenny, I would love to see Rafa back in charge, especially with decent owners this time around. I would have Kenny still involved, just not as the main man.
Out-
Brad Jones
Doni
Darby
Aurelio
Maxi
Kuyt
Adam
Downing
Aquilani
Cole
Pacheco
Carroll
In-
Hoilett
Adam Johnson
Banega
De Jong
Ramirez
*New substitute keeper*
And most importantly, I think we need to go all out for someone like Cavani/Higuain/Soldado
All out?
AnfieldUSA
Any chance of come back of Sami Hyypia or Markus Babbel or Steve Nicol for coaching role?
Babel is too young and only in his first season at Hoff. WIERD CHOICE.
I believe Sami will become a great manager...at the very least a defensive coach...
That's Ryan Babel who's at Hoffenhiem! Keep up!
Refer to the 2nd comment.
I think he refer to Markus Babble, ex-Liverpool right defender season 2000 - 01, not Ryan Babel the Dutchman attacking. (-:
No set budget as such we work on a deal by deal basis
24 Apr 2012 00:57:36
Just for a thought taking away the results how many people would say the style of play has improved considerable compared to recent years and apart from the Suarez sarga which the media helped stir up, the way the club is now being run now with dalgleish in charge, is how it should be. Then if you look at the wider picture with all the defeats and draws there isn't that many you can say we deserved to lose, we are creating plenty of chances and the only trouble with the defence is injuries. so I think it's fair to say we only need a few more players a bit more creative rather then wholesale changes, but if it's decided that a change of manager is needed rather then naming every exotic name possible I believe a young manager with a fresh approach but with the same philosophy and principles. I would go for someone like Owen coyle.
Paul
Owen Coyle?
Deluded you are what 36/38 points of the top of league every team suffers from injurys and suspensions ,kk needs to stand down at the end of the season. he is not the guy to take you forward
Relegation must be your goal for next season then
Oh the comedy genius of the unsigned trolls. wish i had their wit! ulsterpool
24 Apr 2012 00:45:08
I think if we buy a calm goal scoring No. 10 (not Messi!) with decent creative ideas and a final ball, a whole new attacking dimension is added and we become unpredictable and start to create clear-cut chances, then the strikers become confident and start banging in half chances, then before you know it hell even Enrque is brave enough to score!
We need:
1x Quality no. 10 (Ozil, Kagawa, Eriksen, Belhanda, Giovinco, Honda).
1x Quick goal scoring winger (Johnson, Muinian, Ramierz, Mertens, Ayew).
1x Striker that consistently scores goals (Huntelaar, Soldado, M.Suarez, Doumbia).
Red Otter
Eriksen,ramirez,M.suarez but thats dreamland
Seriously, stop talking about suarez...
as I'm from belgium, I know him quite well...
he's not good enough at all if we want to go to the top 4 next year...
If you're ok with our position in the league now, maybe he's a decent buy...
Blackie Gray! Now there's a No 10
kidmillions
Ramirez and Gomez would do me, Gaston is raw enough to play either no10 or as a winger. Gomez just pops up everywhere, and could make Downing look like a superstar. What i like about a combination of Kenny and Flair driven players, is his willingness to throw formations out the door, which is where a good old fashioned no10 would be BRILLIANT. Let them work with Gerrard and it'd be brillianterer.
