I didn't have to put up with Konchesky for long he was found out and gone Triore lasted a bit longer but not as long as Moreno has.

24 Nov 2017 08:41:38
Thats a bit harsh, lol considering we had sissoko at some point.

24 Nov 2017 10:34:22
mad people who slate ex players and can't even spell their names, even if they were at the club for 7 years.

24 Nov 2017 12:59:08
dude, most can't spell our current players let alone former.

24 Nov 2017 16:57:49
Sissoko’ wasn’t that bad? Didn’t he have a bad injury in the end?

{Ed001's Note - I think he meant Aly Cissokho.}

23 Nov 2017 20:33:38
Wow they've really turned out in great numbers at the people's club tonight.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - arriva are on strike i think al, and the weather is cold, 6000 are at a wedding, 4000 are unwell and the rest wont watch crap mate..

23 Nov 2017 20:49:20
nice one

I was there at Lfc v Chesterfield 9000 attendence but it was once of the best games of the season.

23 Nov 2017 21:48:10
I love the way you can laugh about your clubs situation ed. But I suppose it beats crying.

{Ed025's Note - im all out of tears al, and swear words mate..

23 Nov 2017 22:16:37
Wow a 5-1 home defeat to Atalanta. TF is going on at that club lol.

{Ed025's Note - we are saving ourselves for a good cup run mate..

23 Nov 2017 22:32:50
I almost feel sorry for them.

{Ed025's Note - thats just a blatant lie den..

24 Nov 2017 00:26:53
I don’t feel sorry for them at all! I’ve had to listen to how they’re going to be up there challenging us all summer and I’ve been saying no, bottom half finish this season. This though is beyond my wildest dreams! They are truly awful and show no sign of improving anytime soon. 5-1 at home to Atalanta is a disgrace no matter the attendance or competition. Funniest thing I’ve seen for ages!

24 Nov 2017 00:48:38
Ed 25 don't let your club depress you mate. Support a club worth supporting.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately blues are born not manufactured Eka, i believe you stick with them through thick and thin but we are all entitled to have a good moan when things are going tits up mate..

24 Nov 2017 07:20:49
Morning ed25 what happened to your lots battle at the top?

{Ed025's Note - i wish i could explain it p1 we are an absolute shambles, and you think you have something to moan about mate..

24 Nov 2017 07:28:23
Ed025
Genuinely hope it turns soon. Don't get all the negativity towards our neighbours.

There was a time when it was Merseyside v The Rest.

{Ed025's Note - i was part of that agger and it was fantastic, i am looking for positives with everton mate but finding it very hard at the moment i must say..

24 Nov 2017 07:51:06
I think it’s a good reminder that

1) when you sell your best player, don’t scatter the funds across the rest of the team, you just end up weakening your previous strength, and disenfranchising the rest of the players (like we also managed to do when Suarez left)

2) you can’t change a significant number of the team and expect them to all click like a team that’s played together for years (unless your name is Pep and you have hundreds of millions to spend) . a warning for all those on this site that want to replace 6-7 players because they think we have no leaders on the pitch so therefore want Hendo, Gini, Coutinho, Can, Moreno, Lovren, Klavan, Migs etc. etc. to be replaced!

24 Nov 2017 08:11:01
Only thing is zimbo they all need replacing or improving upon if our team is to be title contenders.

24 Nov 2017 08:15:42
I was part of that too Agger but it was brought about more of necessity. If your neighbours are doing well what do you do? We decided to almost bend together and be proud together.
It didn’t take long for us to be laughing at them when they nearly got relegated a few years later!
We’re like brothers I think, deep down we love each other but it really is funny to take the p@ss out of them!

24 Nov 2017 09:23:21
Any season would be a lot less enjoyable if Everton weren't in it.

24 Nov 2017 11:45:02
Hi Ed025

Like your attitude. Keep it up.

Very few have the ability to accept reality and have a laugh.

Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - if we cant have a bit of banter sami then its a very sad day, a lot of my friends and relations are reds mate and we are at each other every opportunity we get, it never gets out of hand though as its only football even though the younger generation seem to think its life and death..

23 Nov 2017 19:58:18
Hi eds, does Klopp genuinely think our squad and first 11 is good enough to compete at the highest level?

Thanks in advance!

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - you mean the team and squad that is top of its Champions League group, ie is competing at the highest level? Are we talking about that squad and first 11?}

23 Nov 2017 23:55:36
Do you even follow football Redward?

As ed says, we're top of our group in champions league.
On top of that we're 5th in what is probably the toughest league out there - 1 point off 4th, 3 points off 3rd and 4 points off 2nd. If that ain't good enough for you, I'm not sure anything will ever be.

24 Nov 2017 10:41:41
And also 12 points off top. We need to strengthen especially in defense and klopp knows that. Hope OP gets the answer.

24 Nov 2017 10:56:39
We can compete at the highest level but win anything, very unlikely with that squad and it’s frailties. 1 or 2 additions and we’ll be challenging and winning things.

24 Nov 2017 17:00:37
We won the champions league with a worse squad, anything can happen in 90 minutes, cup competitions are different, the league? No I think everyone is so far off city, not in terms of points but actual quality, but cups? Why not!

23 Nov 2017 16:34:38
Bobby don’t arf put in a shift doesn’t he
Could never knock his efforts
Top lad.

Believable13 Unbelievable2

23 Nov 2017 18:12:42
Very true. But sometimes I would like to see the ball and the brain do more of the work.

23 Nov 2017 18:45:55
Bobby does put in a shift and he's a very good player. But let's be honest putting in a shift should be the minimum we should expect to see from all the players for what they get paid.

{Ed025's Note - i agree jayden..

23 Nov 2017 19:15:48
Short passes, first touch, hard work, shot stopping, boot laces tied. are not any barometer of a 0remier league players level.

You don't call someone a good h7man being because there good at breathing.

23 Nov 2017 21:00:58
Yep they ain't digging coal.

23 Nov 2017 21:16:30
I think Bobby should be given the captains armband.

{Ed025's Note - and your reason for that is?????..

23 Nov 2017 21:37:29
He is alive.

{Ed025's Note - only just mark..

23 Nov 2017 21:41:34
Because the luminous yellow armband in European competition would divert attention from his scarily white teeth? Is that a valid reason?

Cheers.

23 Nov 2017 21:54:41
Its nearly Christmas he could take them all out for a drink and organise the transport.

23 Nov 2017 23:16:13
Brilliant answers sorry I have been away for a few hours. Ed025, do you think Hendo is better or more deserving of it? I hate player bashing because I am totally behind all of our guys (although bit tricky with Moreno this week 🤦‍♂️) but Hendo doesn’t Inspire any confidence. He doesn’t seem a natural leader, he seems quiet on the pitch when any decent cap would be balling out our defence on a regular basis, and he doesn’t seem to put the shift in that Bobby does. It think it would be the making of Bobby and in honesty, wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference to Hendos game whether he had the armband or not. We need a bit of a change up and I think Bobby’s efforts should be rewarded. If things were different with Can (ie wanting to play for us for a start) I think he would have ended up the logical choice but his heart has already left the club I think. He hasn’t matched his performance against arsenal since that game for me.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think hendo is captain material either Kd, not only is he quiet he barely deserves to start and your skipper should be the first name on the sheet, i am probably old fashioned but i like my captain to be one of the back four and an imposing figure like a tony adams or a john terry mate..

24 Nov 2017 13:10:34
Bang on the money ed. Could you not try and make ed01 see that? Would hendo get into the Everton side? I doubt it and that's saying something.

{Ed025's Note - at the moment he would lerchy but im not his biggest fan as im sure you know, he is very average for me and if you want to win things then im afraid he cant be a starter mate, myself and ED01 get on very well but we do have varying opinions on players, we both think we are right all the time even though he knows im right..

24 Nov 2017 23:39:49
Thanks Ed025. I was trying to be kind to Hendo by suggesting he shouldn’t be cap, but I think he is also easily upgradable.

I guess the VVD situation, if that’s ever comes off, would give us the big imposing captain in the making in the back 4, but I get the impression from some of the talk on here that VVD coming to us isn’t very likely?

{Ed025's Note - VVD is a strange one Kd, after the debacle of is he coming or is he not in the summer his attitude has been called into question, i dont know if he would be a suitable candidate for any captaincy or even employment by liverpool the way he has behaved at southampton mate..

23 Nov 2017 15:00:47
Look, i was as angry as anyone when sevilla scored that third but after calming down, okay its not ideal, but it does happen. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Its the champions league. These are teams as good as if not better than us. Almost every game is a 50/ 50. If this was burnley or bournemouth then yes i would be worried but sevilla are a good team.

Ultimately i think this embarrassing amount of moaning and knee jerking is the typical modern day football fan response. The reason for this is that all fans of the big clubs expect success. They only see other teams as stationary obstacles to be overcome.

The truth is, behind every victory, defeat or draw, there is another set of fans who have the exact same emotions as we do. People seem to forget this. So if we are 3-0 up against sevilla, do you not think sevilla fans are thinking their defenders are embarrassing and their team needs a kick up the arse? They probably are. On the other hand we thought our team were amazing, rather than sevilla being poor, and from our perspective that was why we scored 3 goals. However i doubt you will see fans of sevilla demanding their whole defence be hung drawn and quartered. If we had come back from sevillas position to make it 3-0 we'd be saying how we are the best thing since sliced bread, not how awful sevilla are.

In a nushell, all the teams we come up against are trying to be as competitive as us. We do not have a right to win every game. We do not expect to win every.

23 Nov 2017 15:04:40
Good post.

23 Nov 2017 15:11:49
Good post AW!

23 Nov 2017 15:21:19
Well said - we have no god given right to win every game and yet we react to every defeat (or draw) like we need to replace half the team. We deserve to have high expectations but that is not a license to knee jerk at every result, but to take everything in context.

That context for me is we drew in the CL away from home when we deserved to win. but that after a few great games where we looked a solid side with good balance and scoring 3 goals a game. let's take the lesson and move onto Chelsea and do better.

23 Nov 2017 16:51:18
AS, so are you saying fans don't expect team to win every game? Ok, hi fellow reds, let's hope we draw or lose chelsea. Let just be happy to beat everton, norwich, and bottom 2 clubs. anything more it's bonus.

23 Nov 2017 18:31:44
Hi Woolback. Sevilla are a good side and recruit very well. But we should be beating them over 2 legs. I agree any team can have a bad game or a bad half, but already this season:

we stank first half v Watford
we were poor against Burnley and could easily have lost at the end.
second half v Newcastle we were poor
we were less than useless the full game v Spurs
Man City we lay down and got butchered.
we were crap second half v Sevilla
In the Capital cup we were pathetic

That is too much second rate football in the the first few months.

23 Nov 2017 19:47:55
Sorry i accidentally pressed the post button when i wasnt finished. Yes mark that would be called a period of poor FORM. And you know else has periods of poor form, who lose games, who perform below par? Every single top team in Europe. Barcelona and Madrid are regularly undone by la liga sides far worse than some of the sides in our division and yet they're on a different footballing planet to us.

The point of my post is that we are not the centre of the universe and everything revolves around us. Every team we win, lose or draw to has the exact same set of emotions as us and expectations. So when we get a good resut against a team like city or spurs, they 'could' or 'should' have beaten us on paper, like us against sevilla - but we will be far too busy praising our own players for playing well.

After every single game the pundits always always focus on what a team did wrong, rather than what the oppositon did right, and always speak in terms that sound as if every single team should win every single game, every top team should be winning trophies, and anything else is unacceptable. Modern football logic sucks.

23 Nov 2017 19:54:42
Be nice to win more than one trophy every 10 years. You like many others on here just accept second best. Sorry that's wrong 4th or 5th best. I have had enough of failure, grow a pair will you.

{Ed025's Note - success comes in cycles mark, the 80,s it was the pool, united and arsenal have had their turn and so have chelsea, its everton next season and then spurs but city are the top dogs now..liverpool are not due until 2036 and i will be 78 by then mate.. :)

23 Nov 2017 20:23:13
unless we fully accept that we are a top six team rather than a top four team,
Klopp has not made that much difference to results, yes we are exciting at times, but yes we are awful at times too, we came up against both Spurs and Man City, and it was painful,
Seville are a very good team also, and we couldn't beat them in both games,
its a big test for Liverpool V Chelsea, it will be very interesting, and maybe worth even more than the 3 points .

23 Nov 2017 20:08:51
Everton next season huh Ed025? When you get promotion back to the BPL by winning the Championship right? That's the closest sniff the blue reserves of Merseyside are getting to silverware.

{Ed025's Note - stranger things have happened IB...oh no they have,nt.. :)

23 Nov 2017 20:39:56
hi Ed025,could be something to do with money?

Liverpool have the makings of a really good side and its so bloody obvious what is wrong. We spent £100m on forwards and minus £20+ million on defence players. I am just frustrated mate.

{Ed025's Note - i know mate, but look on the bright side mark...you could be an evertonian..

23 Nov 2017 23:04:07
Relaxlabrudder. I don’t think any LFC fan wants Liverpool to lose so that’s a bit of an overstatement. I. e of course I want Liverpool to win against Chelsea Saturday but if I’m being honest I don’t think it will happen. Can we win? Of course we can, but realistically I think it’s more likely to be a draw or they win. I think as fans we have the right to feel frustrated when throwing away a 3 goal lead, not only because of the loss of a healthy lead and not closing out the game, but also because of the manner of the loss. Our own mistakes cost us as they often do. I genuinely can’t remember the last time a team beat us purely down to outplaying us. Southampton last year maybe? Can’t remeber. City this season being they closest recent example but we were down to 10 for the majority and were giving them a game before then. Spurs - stupid individual errors from Dejan lost that game in the first 10 mins followed up by some shoddy work from Migs. Sevilla was similar, Moreno had a mare for the first two goals and Klavan has to clear that last minute corner away. We are our own worst enemy more than any other team.

24 Nov 2017 08:44:06
Haha ed don't you mean 178, i don't think i will see lfc win another title in my lifetime, i was a little baby the last time we did and i wish i was able to see it happen once. Nobody wants to see out defence hung drawn and quartered but let's be brutally honest here, its been woeful sinch hypia retired and the club as far as i have seen have refused to buy anyone of note to make it a semi solid unit let alone a good one.

Until klopp or whoever decides to spend what it takes results like midweek will always happen. As soon as they scored i felt a collapse coming, im just thankful there was not enough time for them to win it. It is not morenos fault, he does not pick himself and his manager is fully aware of his limitations.

I expect another strong season but ultimately trophyless. Its a shame but its not entirely unexpected though is it?

{Ed025's Note - i would say not IAC,i must say that i have seen some great liverpool defenders in my time, the likes of hansen, hypia, lawrenson et al not to mention the likes of jimmy case, tommy smith and ron yeats who were genuine hard men mate, they will be before your time though but im sure some of the old codgers will remember them,.

Former Liverpool Managers Part 4 - The End Of The Untouchables

23 Nov 2017 14:33:59
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Former Liverpool Managers Part 4 - The End Of The Untouchables

Believable0 Unbelievable1

23 Nov 2017 16:55:48
love these articles ed. Out of all that you do, the legends list the player profiles, these are my favourites.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much Scarry, really glad you enjoy them. I do these ones for myself really as I find researching them so much fun, reading all the old news reports from the time talking about Liverpoltians (a new one on me that) etc. It is really interesting seeing how times have changed. For instance these days there is this weird obsession of a minute's applause at X time of a game almost every week, which I just don't understand. In those days no one did that. When Matt McQueen's wife died in 1926 on the morning of a game, they just flew the flags at half mast and went out and thrashed Man Utd 4-2 with a hat-trick from Dick Forshaw. There was no minute's applause or silence etc, they just got on with it.}

24 Nov 2017 02:48:19
Sorry for not replying earlier ed. yea i do love reading these and not just because they are about lfc but because they are from a time ill never get to experience due to my age obviously lol. yea i don't understand the mins applaud.

{Ed001's Note - the way it is described etc, football does seem so much better back then. Footballers were just like the rest of us back then and it was not all about money.}

23 Nov 2017 12:49:21

{Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page.

23 Nov 2017 10:31:52
Hey eds and reds,

Did anyone notice firmino is slightly bulkier and quicker? I mean it could just be my eyes but he seemed to have upped his speed this season. The 1 on 1s he had at west ham and soton for example (or the centre backs were slow, I don't know) .

Believable1 Unbelievable4

23 Nov 2017 14:18:57
yes, i have seen that too, I think he has found another gear, only thing was that he was out of gas the last 20 mins against Seville, and should have been subbed, he is one of our best players, and should always be first choice .

23 Nov 2017 14:37:43
Of course he was out of gas Happy. Pretty sure he has played every game bar the League Cup this season. Definitely more minutes than any other No.9 in the BPL this season. At some point, Firmino's going to need a rest and gives Solanke a chance to see if he can have a similar impact.

23 Nov 2017 15:22:57
Agree he was needing a rest after 70mins - we needed a hold up player like Solanke while the lad has run miles every game this season.

23 Nov 2017 18:20:58
Not sure about that he just had 2 weeks off with Brazil. Think he played 5 minutes.

23 Nov 2017 08:31:23
Hello every one, I would like to change the mood to get away from being critical of our team.
I would like to ask about other fans favourite games or one they remember with happy memories,
Mine was a come back by the reds at Anfield it was on a Good Friday we were losing 0-2 at half time to Spurs we scored 5 goals in the second half to win 5-2 .
We played Spurs again on Easter Monday away and lost 7-2, I think this shows how football always amazes all of us.

Istanbul will take some beating.

23 Nov 2017 09:51:05
Was at that spurs game Willie Stevenson was immense.

23 Nov 2017 09:51:57
The crowd were singing London bridge is burning down happy days.

23 Nov 2017 15:31:45
2005 still gives me goosebumps but I loved the game at Anfield vs City in 13/ 14 when we were in the run for the title. The crowds YNWA and Coutinhos goal to win it still stick in the memory.

23 Nov 2017 17:02:58
Although that was a fantastic game for me it was the 77 European cup final in Rome ask anyone who went just getting there was an experience. coach to Heathrow plane to Basle train to Rome took us 2 days fabulous day in Rome sun was shining trevi fountain was awash with red and white even the pope wore red and that taxi ride to the stadium they still have invented a theme park ride that scary and then to top it all fantastic game topped by Tommy Smith's header.
Journey home was eventful Rome to Milan then onto Zurich 30 of us sitting round the airport bar when this Austrian buissness man came up and bought a round of drinks what a week
And that ed002 is why we are a special club with special supporters.

23 Nov 2017 17:03:54
Hello Tc77 I was in the boys pen Willie Stevenson scored a cracker Happy days following the team in the Sixties"

23 Nov 2017 17:12:49
I was in the paddock that day with my dad he was in awe of that spurs side with some great players I loved Stevenson so glad shanks rescued him from the oblivion of Australian footy he was a great player ed01why not as him to your legends list.

23 Nov 2017 19:30:43
I went on the train to Rome but I was older then yes we won the European cup for the first time and it was great, just like the day we won at Wembley for the first time and the night we beat Inter Milan all fantastic and the day we beat Southampton to clinch going up from the second division, it's fab to be a red in good times and bad times we don't know how lucky we are some fans continue to support their teams and they have never won any thing.
YNWA.

23 Nov 2017 23:31:15
Red tag remember those games fondly inter was great as was the Leeds final but for the overall experience Rome was special like a massive adventure but it's great to be able to look back with fondness at all those great times this great club has given us.

23 Nov 2017 05:21:57
If Lallana get himself fit, playing regularly, why can't he be the captain instead of Henderson?

Believable5 Unbelievable13

23 Nov 2017 06:12:11
Because Henderson is already the captain and you just don't remove the captaincy over a knee jerk reaction.

23 Nov 2017 06:29:56
We have needed a new captain for quite a while now. Unfortunately, Hendo's the best of a spineless and weak bunch of individuals who all hide when the going gets tough. Time to scout and sign some real leaders at the back and midfield. That's why I think De Vrij is a good option. He is constantly telling players to get into position, so does Manolas. Instead the club is hell bent on splurging twice the money on a stroller from Southampton.
And can we please sign a proper CDM? Its embarrassing watching Hendo and Gini get bypassed as if they are not even on the pitch every time. Klopp has shoehorned all our midfielders into positions they are not even comfortable playing. Hendo at CDM? Can operating as a B2B player? Gini in a deep midfield role? All of them played out of position.

23 Nov 2017 07:14:34
Even Naingolain will provide steel in our midfield.

23 Nov 2017 07:16:41
Dilak2, it's exactly because he is captain that's why Klopp is forced to play him regularly. He can't be drop. Stripping him off armband will help our midfield to steel up as everybody play on merit.

23 Nov 2017 07:17:55
Knee jerk reaction? It's like these team or individual performaces have not happened before.

23 Nov 2017 07:31:38
I think the point is that ya just don't make a change for change sake. As bad as it gets sometimes, it can also be very good. And end of the day the team and club aren't exactly in freefall. Keep it together and keep building on what we have. It's not sock changing time yet.

23 Nov 2017 07:29:31
@indian buzzer. you say VVD is a good option then call him a stroller. and you say he is constantly telling players to get in position, but the guy is constantly found out of position himself. You only have to look at Saturday’s game to see that his positional sense is poor! Also Gini is not a defensive midfield player and isn’t playing that roll. He’s there to break up play and get about the pitch, which he does fairly well. just because he doesn’t score worldies or do fancy things the FIFA brigade think he’s poor.

23 Nov 2017 07:39:16
Name one quality CDM who will be available in January?

23 Nov 2017 07:40:40
Wow Welsh, maybe you should read Indians post again mate I think you may have gotten it soooooooo wrong.

23 Nov 2017 07:59:20
Welsh 🤦🏻‍♂.

23 Nov 2017 08:03:05
Ummm Welsh matey, De Vrij and VVD are not the same person.
And where exactly did I say Gini is a CDM? I said he should be playing higher up the pitch than he is right now.

23 Nov 2017 09:46:22
My mistake mate. apologies. just seemed so contradicting on VVD I had to comment but I obviously didn’t read it properly while eating my breakfast. you did say we need to sign a quality CDM though, it’s embarrassing seeing Henderson and Gini getting bypassed constantly. I agree with you on the fact we need someone to protect the back four better though, our centre halves can become too exposed and whereas I do like Hendo, I don’t think he’s the man for the job. Apologies again mate, just learned my lesson not to scan read and reply! 🙈.

23 Nov 2017 10:17:59
We need to give up on this. Klopp does not use dedicated CDM's, he just expects deeper midfielders to make more challenges. He's made it pretty clear we he doesn't have any plans to change that, having sold our two CDM's in consecutive summers and made no approaches to replace them. If you like Klopp and want him managing us then accept we will not be adding a dedicated CDM.

23 Nov 2017 11:37:14
Can someone explain why Lallana is more "captain material" than Hendo?

23 Nov 2017 12:38:39
Ron, I still think Hendo should be captain but I think people are calling for Lallana to be captain because he captained saints and you can see on the pitch that he's quite vocal, and one thing I've noticed is that if someone goes in heavy on him or one of his team mates he goes heavy on them back. That's risky for him to do but at least it shows he's passionate.

23 Nov 2017 13:19:43
Because he's not Henderson apparently Ron.

23 Nov 2017 14:31:10
I don't think that we have a player on our books that is captain material, Klopp has not brought in the right players over the time he has had here, he needs to get his act together,
take the Seville game, look at our back four and keeper, who is only ok, we have Gomez, a centre half at right back, Klavan, who is 3rd or 4th choice, Lovren, who was taken off V Spurs cos he was having a mare, then Moreno, who I agree has improved this season, but should have been moved on pre season,
when you look at our defence, is it really a surprise that w let in 3 goals,
sorry to be negative, I just want to see us winning games .

23 Nov 2017 15:32:52
I AGRee with happy but it’s not just up to the captain to grab the game by the balls, I know that’s what we want but it doesn’t excuse everybody else. Ideally you’d want a leader at the back (a controlling keeper or even a carragher type centre back) I’ve stated previously my thoughts of Henderson as captain, I don’t think k he’s the best captain but who in that squad is more deserving?

23 Nov 2017 16:03:01
personally i've never rated Henderson. I'm not saying that because of the Sevilla game neither, been saying it for a long time now. He's an alright player and injury I believe has put him back a step which is understandable, but i've never felt he is what Liverpool needs in midfield to progress to level of say Citeh (thats for you Ed's) I've been wanting a hard nosed CDM at LFC since Mashyourankle pushed his way out to Barce.
And if we want a player to fit this role, does the player realistically have to be made available? Can we not just approach a club, say this is whom we want, what will it take? Coutinho wasn't available, Barce came knocking. Keita wasn't available, we agreed terms.
100% fix the backline/ keeper situation first, but really need to address our holding midfield. even if it's Emre Can for that role, and we resign him (unlikely I know) . But find a solution for it and stick by it.

23 Nov 2017 16:47:49
TDiggity, yes I suggest Lallana because he was captain of Southampton before he joined us.

23 Nov 2017 18:57:52
The only way to get a suitable captain for this squad is to buy one.

{Ed025's Note - when naby comes he will fit the bill mark..

23 Nov 2017 19:18:35
Lallana? Are you kidding me? He was one of the worst for not turning up when someone outside the top 6 came to town last season. Usually after mouthing off in the press too. He's an even worse suggestion than Wijnaldum.

I get it, you don't think Henderson's a good leader. I don't think he's great leader either, tbh, he's just comes across as too nice to his team-mates to give them a bit of kicking at key points in games, imo. But there isn't actually anyone better in the squad currently, and you're kinda proving that point for me with your suggestions.

23 Nov 2017 19:26:58
Here's hoping Ed025.

23 Nov 2017 04:30:27
Can someone please tell where the hell Andrew Robertson is? Why is he not even making match day squads? Have I missed something? Does Klopp not like him?

23 Nov 2017 06:14:37
He isn't in the squad because he has to prove himself and also because Moreno has started the season well. If last nights performance impacts Morenos form then perhaps it is a chance for Robertson to stale a claim.

23 Nov 2017 06:31:42
Robertson is not the answer to our LB problems. A backup option at best. Moreno is no great shakes but he fits better into the team than Robertson who does not have much of an understanding with Mane on the left flank. He was simply a cheaper option signed as Klopp wanted to spend big on VVD and Keita.

23 Nov 2017 07:24:02
Moreno has been decent this season which is an improvement. Where people get the he is playing well or has been one of our best players bewilders me. He is part of a defence that has conceded 17 goals in 12 games. In the 3 seasons he has been here his bad games have outweighed his good. For 1 of them seasons he was second choice left back to a central midfielder. But yeah he's had 7-8 decent games this season so let's stop questioning him as surely he is the answer to our left back problem.

23 Nov 2017 11:40:21
Jayden,

Good point, well made!

As you say, 7-8 games good games over 3+ seasons do not justify a regular place in the 11.

Have to disagree with you over Moron-o being ‘decent’ this season; he’s been better than normal, for him, so IMO that’s average and only the minimum requirement.

Its not enough to warrant a prolonged 1st team place though and changes in this position simply MUST be of the highest priority come January.

23 Nov 2017 12:44:22
Jayden and Jim, the logic your using is the same logic that kept Rooney in the United team and the England squad for years after he wasn't good enough, sure Moreno has been poor in past seasons but he's been decent this season and our best option at LB.

23 Nov 2017 13:31:48
But he's not our best option at left back
And far from it Robertson is a much better defender, and right now that is what we need somebody who can defend.

23 Nov 2017 14:26:54
T-Diggity,

I fail to see why your “Rooney being in the Utd and England team for years after he wasn’t good enough” comment has anything to do with Liverpool’s LB situation? Let alone it making any sense!

Our ‘logic’ is that Moron-o is simply not of a good enough standard for us. if we have aspirations of challenging for the top 4, let alone the league title, therefore must be replaced as soon as possible.

Teams know he is vulnerable, will continue to target him and it makes no sense not to address that as a matter of urgency.

Robinson deserves to be given a chance, I’ll reserve judgement on him until he’s had a number of successive appearances.

As for Moron-o, he’s had 3 years at the club and has consistently shown he’s not good enough. with a few “decent” games mixed in.

He, along with Mignolet, Matip and Klavan, is not a Liverpool-standard player!

23 Nov 2017 14:35:06
if Klopp had brought in a quality left back, then that player would be playing, simple,
only he didnt, Klopp needs a word in his ear .

23 Nov 2017 16:16:48
...............

Jim, the reasoning for my comment was that Rooney was shoehorned in to United and England sides that he wasn't fit to play in for years based on his performances from previous years, despite the fact he was past it. You're judging Moreno on his previous seasons at Liverpool. Sure, he can be a bit of a liability but from what I've seen so far this season he's has improved going forward, which I get doesn't really factor in to this argument, but more importantly he seems to be defending a lot better this year, especially as he seems to have cut out that silly trait of tackling from the wrong side. Don't get me wrong, Moreno has infuriated me in the past but I'm sick of seeing people blast players for one bad 45 minutes when he has shown a solid improvement this season. I too would like to see more of Robertson to see what he's made of, but I really don't see the point of casting players out based on 45 minutes of an otherwise good season. He may not be of the quality we need to win titles but he's a player at our club and we should support him, haven't players like Lucas shown you that they can turn it around?
