ed,how good is chris wood? {Ed001's Note - which Chris Wood? There are at least two that I know of playing in the English leagues.}

Guessing the poster means the 19yr old new zealand one on loan to Birmingham City from West Brom he has 10 goals in 20 games so fare.

Ed 001

Thanks for the feedback mate

Spriggo {Ed001's Note - you are welcome mate, hopefully you get back before you miss too much more footie!}

23 Nov 2011 23:28:35
For Christmas I want a Mario Goetze, I want a Xherdan Shaqiri and I want a Seydou Doumbia... Eds make it happen {Ed001's Note - the Panini stickers are on their way.....}

Ed001 alright mate I'm away at the min, work in the Merch. I was just wonderin how Charlie Adam looked to you v Chelsea. He's had a bit of stick this season an I was hoping the lad showed all the doubters his game. His fee was only what £7m?

Also was Henderson good from the bench? I really hope this lad keeps his chin up I think he could be fantastic just needs that confidence.

Spriggo {Ed001's Note - both of them did well, Charlie was MOTM for me, the best showing I have seen from him in a Liverpool shirt. Henderson came on and swung the game back our way, very impressed with him.}

Wee jordans awesome i just been watchin him on the melwood skills challenge top notchhhh
jayblair89

Henderson was very good. C. Adam too. we had a good game. hope it continues.

Kaizer

Ed 001, I think you look at Henderson's football ability exactly like I do. Spot on mate.

Chi-Paul

Chi-Paul - I agree mate. I watched the game again the other night and in the second half we were under pressure but as soon as Henderson cam on we took control of the game again and created chances.

JRG

He was given an opportunity in the his preferred position and he did very well.....

He has talent as well as character and has often come up with something when the team needs one....

One instance was in the Chelsea when he beat two players to cross the ball to a team mate......

Another significant moment was in the Carling Cup when at 1-1 he volleyed a cross to Suarez which the WEE MAN converted by heading it past Begovic......

All of us will talking very differently about come the end of the season.....

How about a sneaky bid for mata? ;-D

Next person to say 'sneaky' should be banned!

Iv been saying since last season time for cara to take a back seat just not good enough anymore CASTER TROY

It's not that he's not good enough, just that against a more mobile forward line his lack of pace is exposed. If you play bhim against a team playing 4-4-2, he'll mop it up all day long.

I was just getting my fix of the 1970's, watching Liverpool v Leeds in the 74 Charity Shield.
Suddenly it's just occurred to me.
It was decided by the Leeds bench that their first penalty taker in the sudden death shoot-out was keeper David Harvey, who promptly boomed it high, wide and handsome.
Cally then stepped up to score and win it.
Remember this was Shankly's final game. Leeds basically gave him the respect and honour of winning the match.
I've just cottoned on after 37 years !

Interesting. if its true...respect

We are now in the silly season with all sorts of rumours about who we are going to sign. With every name comes a post about how good a player is followed by another (usually in anglo-saxon) about how bad that player is. I think that are enough experts at Anfield who see things that we normal fans don't see. Sometimes they are correct and sometimes not. We have to trust their judgement and if we can't do that then it is time to find another hobby. I believe that we are heading in the right direction but there are also fans who think that the 'treasure-chest' is full of cash and that we should be signing all the world-stars. In the next few years we will see those world-stars. In fact those who watch the reserves and academy are already watching some of them. Time - give it time.

I clicked 'agree' but, then again it is just a rumour and banter site..

Who is "I"?

i hope we somehow sign soldado in jan! dyer or pilkington wd be a waste! greetings from india... i love this site..

23 Nov 2011 22:23:36
chelsea man utd city all 3 can knock out from CL.

Love it...I'd love it!

Translation please.

Keep em all in ffs!

Don't love it english team can drop from cl ranking that can cost 3 team from england in future. and keep them busy in cl we can plan good epl match.

It won't cost England a spot in champs league the amount of places given to a country is dictated by its national ranking isn't it?

Its ok, it wont affect Liverpool anyway.

Anybody else getting sick of the phrase 'Difficult moment'?

Rafa's Purple Goatie

23 Nov 2011 22:11:49
Dyer and now Pilkington...I am struggling to understand this transfer policy, these players make us seem like we are aiming for mid table. Yes they are reasonable but c'mon we really need some better quality especially going forward.

E.H LFC

Dyer is a player who could give us something different in attack.
Try watching Swansea and you'll see that he is a good player.

KT!

Yeah, youre right, i mean, why arent we in for messi?

Yeah, your right go for dyer? really? really?,,, really? because we cant get the best get the next best way to aim high. looks like any little jimmy will do for lfc? get real.

i mean if he was no more than 5mil then ok might be worth the investment but anything over that will make us to look like the biggest transfer joke.

Hey miz how you doing

23 Nov 2011 22:06:21
Keita have a good game vs Milan today.

23 Nov 2011 22:01:39
Aquilani have a good game vs Barca. Xavi diving to get a penalty from aquilani touch and that very minimum touch what a acting xavi. messi and villa problem can feel in the field.

Mate!.
Aquaman should have been sent off, that German ref was a shocker and the linesmen were equally bad.
Suppose Aquaman and Nesta do look alike though.
Great game all the same.
Food for thought.

So aqua should send off for xavi's diving ? watch the replay again man.

23 Nov 2011 21:49:42
I didn't know Neville was playing again with Shakhtak Donetsk. Poor lad scored an o.g. tonight vs FC Porto.

Why buy. Why not enroll some youngsters

Raheem Sterling
Connor Coady
Suso
Ngoo

I watch channel 434 all the time and by the looks of things they are reay. Raheem sterling is twice the player walcott is so why not give him a chance.

if we do buy i hope its not averagers like who we are linked with. would much prefer someone world class and enroll some youngsters.

IMO raheem sterling and coady are easily ready. as for ngoo he will be more use than the DONKEY.

Please post on the rumours page ed. not the banter page !

Ow..! Anyone else feel 'a prick' then?

Myk

You really think Sterling is better than Walcott?
You say give them a chance now but, i can gaurantee that when they make a mistake you will be the first to moan aboat it.
Give them time, the step up from ressies football is huge!

KT!

Team vs chelsea

doni
kelly, carra/coates, coates/wilson, aurelio
henderson, spearing
silva, suso, sterling
depends who plays vs city

hansen
flanno
carra/ coates/ wilson
robo
coady
adorjan
ecclston

Don't think so pal....

think you'll kenny is after trophies and although he has talked up playing youth and second stringers he won't; a few changes yes, but not a side away!

red snake

Robinson?

Raheem sterling isn't better than Walcott, atm, for sure. He has many things to learn. He's a bit selfish and can only learn with time. It can't be the right decision to put him into the first team, for now. May be after a year or two. Suso, is my fav lad in the academy. Hope, he'd be playing for us in the future. Best for the rest. Loan spells would be of great advantage. YNWA

Everyone moans we have no depth in the attacking region

suso sterling
throw them in and see what happens i garentee it will pay off

Hate Arsenal, but I'm starting to become a
real admirer of Van Persie (scored again tonight).
Can anyone slag him off a bit so I can get my mind
back on Liverpool? Has he ever been caught knocking-
off prostitutes like Rooney? Or having affairs with team
mates girlfriends like Terry? Or is he some kind of money
grabbing Judas like Torres? Or a Total t**t like Tevez? There must be something wrong with him surely? Or is he simply the best Liverpool player not to play for Liverpool? Can we convince
him to sign for us in January eds? {Ed001's Note - highly unlikely he will be going anywhere in January.}

He is made of glass mate. Great when he's fit and playing though.

LIVERPRES

I think you've got a bit of a man crush coming on pal.. Go watch some lemon porn and get you head straight me thinks :0)

Myk

Van Persie best player never to have played for liverpool?

Are you sure?

Its midweek and I am sorry for getting philosophical.

Over the past 3-4 years the TV viewership of the EPL has increased massively. The football watching public may have increased but the I am not sure the game loving public has increased in the same ratio. Most of the fans, including Liverpool fans (and in this site as well), think of the EPL as being a spectacle only. True I dont deny that but no matter how hard you try its a just SPORT at the end of the day.

Players will make mistakes and so will the officials.

Just because a huge amount of money has been spent on aquiring players doesnt mean that the results will be immediate. This isnt Playstation. Anyone who has ever played football will understand that the process of developing an understanding can take weeks when there are 2-3 people involved.Here we are talking about a new manager, a new assistant manager, a new coach, 2 new players in Jan and 6 new players in the summer.

This is a huge change and things will take time. We need to back our manager from the hilt to the heel.

Its disgusting to see posts like "I doubt Kenny", "We should have signed a young manager instead" and so on. If you think like that then my advice would be to stop watching football and consume your time somewhere else. Constructive criticism suggesting tactical mistakes, wrong personnel should always be welcome but not posts like that........

Another observation recently has been the way Andy Carroll has been slammed by not only the media but Liverpool fans as well. If anything, we should be right there behind him. Andy Caroll is much better than what has been suggested in the media and this forum by fans. Just look at Benzema. Sold for a similar range of amount, it took him two full seasons to find himself in Spain. Andy, on the other hand, is not doing badly. The major issue for Andy has been the form and adaptability of Suarez. Suarez is more in sync with the likes of Downing, Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy. This puts Andy a bit out of the place but he is nothing as he is being made out to be.

He will eventually come good. The same stands for Henderson as well.

LiverBird

Hey up LiverBird

Midweek philosophising is the way forward.

Brilliant post and great points; we are becoming this weird x-factor-vote-off-immediate-satisfaction culture that is actually genuinely disappointing and depressing.

(On that note chelsea 1 - BL2, check that out Roman, money doesn't always buy success)

Joff

Regarding Carroll, he isnt doing badly you say, he is not sharp enough, quick enough and lacks the ability to pass a ball. Also for 35million which IMO is the biggest outrage in the premier league history. you should settle straight away. i know if i was worth 35m i would atleast give 100 percent and not just sulk. Absolute garbage. we cant wait another 2 seasons we have waited over 20 !!

On about carroll,give the lad a break,how must torres be feeling, 50m and sat on cfc bench the last 3 games,im starting to feel sorry for him,look at bayerns 2 goals,both headers,if andy got that service he will be banging them in,
jimmybosun,

Correct. I agree there.

Its not the fault of Carroll that Newcastle asked for 35M for him.

Same goes with Torres too.

They are human beings like us and we shuldnt expect them to satisfy all the the virtues known to mankind.

I emphasize again that anyone who has ever played the game will understand what these players have to go through. There are lots of sacrifice made by them which is not visible to us. They deserve support and backing not DESTRUCTIVE criticism.

People talk about Carroll's lifestyle being a reason for his non performance. Wot abt Hendo? He has been doing all the right things but why isnt he setting everyting on fire then?

Its very simple. Things sometime take time. We need to support them through this transition period.

LiverBird

One of the problems wiuth Carrol is that he's so talked about that every defending team will remember to man-mark him at set-pieces. Once the media obsession dies down defences will start forgetting about him - to their peril

23 Nov 2011 20:59:15
i despair at these rumours of average players like dyer, hoillett and de jong being linked. to get in the champions league we need world class players. if we have the money (which we do) we should get the best. my preferred choices would be higuain and erikson in january and samba and marin in the summer. your thoughts please ed's. dan {Ed001's Note - Samba? I think that says it all.}

Samba plays for blackburn. He is certainly not world class. Skrtel,agger and carragher are all better. what is the logic in getting him?

Danny

Samba de janeiro?

Myk

Do people only want players because they're a big name?
Get a grip of reality!

KT!

Xherdan shaqiri pay up the money he is the swiss/albanian lucas moura. not as good but if the ed's say moura is not likely due to whatever reason then he's my back up. 20 years old, has been around 2 1/2 seasons. is he selfish maybe but he is young and will learn plus we need someone who will go forwards and unsettle defences. he has europa and champions league exp, hes fast and has a good build.

23 Nov 2011 20:32:17
watching the arsenal game. Theo wallcot we should do all we can to get him. The boys is fantastic

Walcott is s**te!

LAVERS

Wallcot is an amazing player.. arsenal wont let him and RVp leave this jan coz they are the key players.
withut them arsenal wont even finish top half of the table
hims_red

Lavers, I must say he used to be, but he has improved alot for sure.

Question for you ed(s),

There has been a lot of talk about Rafa and Kenny today. I'm curious about your opinion on something.

If Kenny had been in charge of the team under Gullet and Dicks do you think he would've done a better job than what Rafa did? I'm fairly certain that if rafa were in charge now he would have done the same as Kenny but putting Kenny in Rafa's old position with no money to spend boardroom turmoil and dissatisfied players, do you think he would've done better than Rafa?

Rewflo {Ed001's Note - yes, I have no doubts Kenny would have done better, the football would have been much better to watch too.}

I'm with Ed on this one - Rafa had Gerrard and Torres in their prime, Kenny has had neither yet the football is much better and we are not reliant on individuals any longer.

JRG

Not sure how you justify this Ed? I think both are good managers and I'm getting fed up with people trying to pick one and slate the other to be honest. But kenny had and does have cash with us and with blackburn when he was there but had nothing or little at Celtic and Blackburn. Now his records at all those clubs speak for themselves so lets be fair. {Ed001's Note - do you mean Newcastle? He got Newcastle a good finish before being forced to get rid of high earners, hardly his fault the club had financial problems. As for Celtic, he was a caretaker manager, what do you expect him to do? Kenny is the best man for the Liverpool job, he wants us to play good football and that is important to me. Rafa wanted us to play far too defensively and I was bored to tears by the dross that I had to endure for all bar half a season. That alone says he is not the right man for the job.}

No arguments about style, Kenny's football is definitely more pleasing to the eye (well except europa which is the most negative I've ever seen us play)

Rewflo

It's clear to me Kenny has unfinished business with Liverpool. A lot has changed since he was last in charge of the club, Liverpool are not the club he left behind. He will want to instill the values of the club that have been lost through a succession of managers and owners.

RedSG

Not reliant on players? Without Suarez to me we would have no flair and look pretty average going forward.

Fred

Fred - Suarez has scored four goals and has two assists so far this season while Adam has two goals and five assists so you could argue we are more reliant on Adam.

JRG

More or less adam has lucas to back him and suarez scores and creates most of his own

Even with suarez we look pretty average going forward

Just picking up on a comment made by Chi Paul in a post earlier.

What many people have yet to realise is the strength and depth of our squad this season. And certainly as the run up to Xmas comes, the weather gets colder and suspensions start biting, the squad slowly but surely will get tested.

The hope is that we are not hit too badly with a raft of injuries. However the one thing Benitez had to do in his time at LFC was to constantly juggle his better players throughout the early part of the season to avoid losing them during the important run in February onwards where games really start to matter. Unfortunately in hindsight we always seemed to give ourselves too much to do.

Take one look at our bench on Sunday and then look at the bench against Everton last October:-

Babel, Jovanovic, Ngog, Aurelio, B Jones (gk), Spearing and Kelly. And when you realise the likes of Kyriagos, Konchesky, Cole, out of form Torres and out of position Merieles were playing then we have to see that within a couple of windows the squad depth is substantially better.

We'll get our first look next week at the strength and more importantly quality we have when Dalglish is 'forced' to utilise the squad in more detail.

Against Citeh the team may look :- Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Adam, Lucas, Downing, Henderson, Suarez, Carroll

Againat Chelski :- Reina, Kelly, Robinson, Carra, Coates, Maxi, Aurelio, Lucas, Spearing, Bellamy, Kuyt.

That doesn't look too shabby does it? Certainly beats:-

Jones, Degen, Konchesky, Kyriagos, Carra, Poulsen, Lucas, Cole, Ngog, Babel, Jovanovic.

Torres on the bench again haha hope he's enjoying life at chelsea.

23 Nov 2011 19:07:21
Andy Carroll will be a class striker. He has already shown us what he can do last year at Newcastle. remember, he is only 22 and moving to a new part of the country to a much bigger club must be difficult; let alone the 35m price tag. I all he needs is a nice run of games and a few goals to kickstart his LFC career. Remember we bought him for 10 years, not for 10 months.

(C)War'ton.

At newcastle he was unplayable and he will be the same at liverpool when he get his fitness and strength up
jaybalir89

The onlyway he will be unplayable is if we lay long ball. at newcastle in the air he was solid, here he has to play the ball and that isnt what hes goold at. also he has had pre-season and almost half the season to have gotten his fitness up i'll gibe him a pass on strength, its funny though peter crouch is a better ball player than him. i hope he gets right next season because thats when kuyt and maxi goesand we'll need him, but for now i'd try and get an extra man in on loan

23 Nov 2011 19:03:48
Ed001's Note - the high turnover of players was nothing to do with selling to buy, it is the way he works}
===========================
"The way he works" ! based on what?
As far as I can make out, while at valencia he only bought 6 players in 4 years? when he took over at LFC he had an ageing defence in Hypia and Henchoz, Finnan was loosing his pace, he had to get rid of the liability called Traore , Diao and Biscan were not good enough,Le Tallec and the other one (cherou?) well what can I say .. Owen wanted to move on,Cisse was injured ... thats a whole team that needed replacing ..
Roy
{Ed001's Note - he was refused permission to buy the players he wanted at Valencia, hence the low turnover in players and why he left. He got full control of transfers at Liverpool and that is why there was such a huge amounts of ins and outs.}

Roy - the only trophies Rafa won as Liverpool manager was with a team of prodominately Houllier signings. His success at Valencia was with a director of football who decided where the team needed strengthening and which players would be signed. I think Rafa is a better coach than he is manager.

After his five years at the club his team building ended with us finishing seventh and has been reason for us needing to completely rebuild our squad. I don't wish to knock the man as he did achieve some great success at the club and he has helped us develope our academy, but his time at the club is over. We need to move on and get behind Kenny and the team.

JRG

Jrg moving on is fine but to say we won cl with houliers team is drivel.rafa brought in Luis and xabi and moved carra to centre back.tactically he got the better of teams with far superior players.we won cl despite players like Traore not because of them.yosser

I think he's a great coach and manager, look at the 08-09 season, although we didn't win it, we were fantastic and the team was full of Rafa signings e.g. Xabi, Torres, Mascherano etc. He has said on serveral occasions of his love for the club and I would love to see him again at the club in some role, perhaps to replace Kenny once he retires?

Don't get me wrong, I love Kenny and don't want him to leave for a long time yet, but I do like Rafa and in the future I would happily welcome him back to merseyside.

maka
YNWA JFT96

In fairness to rafa, the players he really wanted were very different to the players he ended up signing in many cases. I felt he seemed to settle for poorer players cos the funding was argued over. Players like alves, silva, villa and ronaldo to name a few. I dont know the ins n outs tbh but he we always seemed to settle n waste money rather than saving it for the next transfer window to get the right players.
Jason {Ed001's Note - every manager ends up making do with second choices more often than not. I hate that excuse because it makes no sense. If the players were not good enough, it doesn't matter if they were bought because a first choice fell through, they are still not good enough. Better to stick with what you have than buy for the sake of it.}

Yosser - Garcia and Alonso were the only players from the 2005 Champions League final that were signed by Rafa, even the three substitutes were Houllier signings - this is a fact. I am really trying not to knock the guy but let's not forget we were 3-0 down at half time before Didi came on and marked kaka out of the game, if he was so tactically superior why didn't we start with that formation/team?

The 2008/09 team was a fantastic team, probably the best midfield in the league at the time, and stronger than the current squad. But that season we drew at home to West Ham, Stoke, Fulham and Hull. Kenny has drawn at home to Sunderland, Stoke, Swansea and United and everyone has the knives out.

JRG

Yeah thats what I was saying about saving the cash to buy the right player at the next window. But he obviously had a decent eye for talent when u consider had a few signings gone our way things could have been very different. Agreed, some of the players he settled for were very poor but all managers make mistakes in transfers and although i hate to say it i think deep down most of us realise Carrol doesn't look techically good or quick enough of mind (on the pitch) to be anything but a mistake- to what extent remains to be seen. Although i think Kenny has also made good signings in jose, henderson, downing and adam (value for money as much as anything)

Jason {Ed001's Note - Rafa didn't have a good eye for players, he had scouts with a good eye for players, just like Shankly, Paisley and Fagan had the great Geoff Twentyman finding them players. You have to wonder which scouts recommended the likes of Voronin and Dossena.}

Haha Voronin! My all time most disliked liverpool player- not even dead on. I suppose its the managers final decision, im sure both rafa and kenny had/have the chance to veto any players they see as innapropriate signings.
I suppose what frustrated me most about the rafa years was the wasting of 10 million here or 12 million there, taking chances on players who where never even good enough to improve the squad, i hope over the next few transfer windows we buy a maximum of 2-3 players but make them quality rather than squad players signings. Not to say we need the popular names but unfortunately these days- cheapish gems seem hard to come by. Smaller clubs seem smarter and better at raising the price of valued players.
Jason

After Kenny, if there is any manager that I would prefer it would be Rafa any day.

Just look at Hodgson. He never had anyy connect with the club or the fans.

Rafa donated 96K for the Hillsborough cause. He loves the club immensely.

If you slam for his mistakes (which were obvious) he must be praised for all the success he brought to the club.

I really do miss the Champions League nights but people sometimes dont remember the glorious midweek nights......This is not a good development as we should appreciate what he has done for us and the club.....

With Kenny, these are special times.....we should treasure the moments and live them with pride and happiness....As history has previously told us, Kenny may not be around tomorrow so we should support our team as much as we can.......

Be optimistic......if you still fell bad -- Fergie turned 70 this year :).......

LiverBird

Jrg tactically rafa got the Milan game wrong IMO but recovered it at half time.but over the other games particularly two outstanding juve and Chelsea teams he got it very very right.I'm not sure if you remember how bad we were at the end of houlier's reign but if u think he could have come anywhere close to winning the cl ur dreamin.incidentally I'm a huge kenny fan too.he doesn't match rafa for tactics,defensive organisation or so far the ability to attract world class signings but he has great man management skills,much better attacking philosophy and he has my complete support.I was supporting us when kenny was playing and through his first time s manager and absolutely love the man.Yosser

Yosser - unfortunately I am old enough to remember the end of Houllier's reign but I am also too young to remember when Kenny was first at the club. That is why I am enjoying watching us play this season as it is the first time since Roy Evans was manager I have enjoyed the football we have played. I agree 100% that Houllier would never have won the Champions league with that team.

Am not trying to be anti-Rafa - I very much appreciate everything he done for our club and especially for that night in Istanbul. But his last season in charge was comparable to that of Houllier's last season. Dull, negative football with very poor players.

Regarding the world class players, you have to remember that Benitez was able to offer Champions league football to the foreigners, unfortunately Kenny does not have that luxury. I am sure if we were in the Champions League then world class players would have signed for Kenny. But for now we have to rebuild and get back into the top four, which is a lot harder now than three or four years ago.

JRG

So what if Rafa had houllier's players? Tactically rafa was better than Houllier. Houllier might have gotten us relegated with the same squad. But it is past now. Kenny is THE MAN right now. TBH i like kenny better though :)

A few week back no one liked Kenny he was for the chop?

23 Nov 2011 18:51:54
as a burnley based lifelong red, i can say that Nathan Dyer was a special talent when we had him on loan a few years back. If he hadn't been in trouble for his artful dodger phase he'd be at a bigger club by now. I think he'd be a great buy.

23 Nov 2011 18:40:38
Ed, after weeks of reading these pages it seems you believe that De Jong and possibly Sissoko are the 2 realistic possible signings if any. Dyer is British and established now in the premiership so maybe less risky gamble and therefore fits current pattern of transfers, or do you think it is just papers fitting a player to a position we need to fill then?
RNRed {Ed001's Note - yes, very much so.}

Cheers Ed, I agree, think Gerrard (hopefully we will see him back) is world class on right anyway so if we get sissoko we will have plenty for middle, and for years to come.

23 Nov 2011 17:48:03

Andy Carroll
-Am i the only one who still has faith in him? I think he will be class next few seasons.

oh and get a hair cut Andy.

Conor

I see where you're coming from, give him time etc. but as a liverpool fan don't you ever get tired of saying "He'll be good in a couple of years," "We're still rebuilding," "Next year we will win title."

And many more phrases. I'm focussing only on what happens this season, next year anything could happen.

Rewflo

Question for you.

Why don't arsenal ever win the title anymore? Because they are always building for the future and never for the present.

I am more than happy to stick my neck out and say 'i believe'. Someone a few posts ago pointed out the stats comparing Carroll with Crouch and that they have similar ish figures - ok negative humans, you could argue Crouch wouldn't have been bought for 35mil so what i thought would be interesting is to compare the impact Torres had in the recent chelski match vs
Carroll's ever so short cameo. Ok so Andy did look a bit clumsy and only had 3 or so minutes of us holding our lead (admirably i thought) but what did Torres do that makes him so much the better player? Rash choices, mis-kicks, runs to nowhere? (also pointing out Raul's impact as well - I felt oddly annoyed when he left but don't regret it, if that's the right word). Point being neither did that well on the night but more of us are happy to say mad things like "get rid of Carroll, get Torres back in January".
Which.
Probably.
Wont.
Happen.
I say the word 'probably', i probably don't mean that.
I am really pleased with the way Hendo is shaping up and am fairly happy to say something like "lets just give Carroll some time, we've got some other players in the team who are good" with a figure in mind of a couple of years, not hours.
Lucas is the man in my opinion, more that he has become so good (arguably one of the best in the prem in his position) and would love it if we could give Carroll the same support we gave Lucas a couple of seasons ago.
Oh yeah.
The way we treated Lucas...
I am not arguing for blind faith but what i am arguing for is a bit of composure - Andy scored a cracker against the Evertons and for the luck of football would be on something like 3 more this season and for that i am happy. Go on big lad - stick it to em on Sunday. or Tuesday. Or next week/month/year.
Joff
I don't have any comments on his hair.

Rewflo - so what is the alternative to building for the future? Splash £400m on new players like City and in a few years we would be just like Leeds?

There is nothing I would like more than instant success but it isn't going to happen. The only way we can compete is to build slowly and surely.

JRG

I just hope, carroll makes himself a good enough striker. So, far without any disrespect to any one, I've been disappointed with him. Hope, he gets on the right track, soon. YNWA

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see where or how Carroll will make the necessary improvement. Maybe it's me, but I can't see enough potential there.
Another thing- he had a good half season, just gone, but I never saw him as "unplayable", as I keep hearing him described as.

Splash £400m on new players like City and in a few years we would be just like Leeds?

Not if a sheik owned the club

Folks, what's with all the negativity and clamour for so called "star names" to be bought? Apart from 2 performances this season, Spuds and Swansea I think we have played attractive and bright football. Okay so we should have more points if we put away our chances, but you could argue only for the 2 saves by Pepe, against Norwich & Chelski we would be 4 points worse off!..........I have mentioned this before but cast you're memory back a whole 12 months and consider how much we have moved on since those dark days.........so in short get over yourself people, stop proposing or asking who we should buy and let KK, DC and the owners decide what's best for our glorious club. I for one belive in them and in what they are aiming to do.........onwards and upwards mighty reds!!

Or you could cast your memory back 25 years and see how far we have gone backwards. It's easy to use the past as comparison, especially when you decide to skew it by only using parts of it that fit your argument.

Your missing the point here completely! I am not using the past to, as you put it "skew it" I am simply pointing out that within the last 12 months the club has moved on significantly, in fact without FSG we most likely wouldn't have a club thanks to the previous cowboy owners. I have watched LFC for near on 42 years, have seen the bad, average, sublime in my time, Sir Bobs team in '77/78, KK team '88/89 having provided the most pleasure...What I do see is LFC fans clamouring for so called big name overseas players just becasue they have seen them a couple of times on the TV. For example comparing Mata and Downing, what exactly has Mata done to acquire this adulation that Downing hasn't (and please don't say won the World Cup!).....On the occasions I have seen Mata he looks a tidy player, but better than Downing, I fear not, Downing has proved himself in the EPL as I feel he will with us as well Mata may, but we are not in a position to gamble on player who may prove themselves at this stage of our recovery and aim to achieve top 4 this year......TMac

I do find it a bit frustrating when all people say is we need this and that player. Maybe one or two in jan and same in the summer but we have a real great squad and a young squad that will get better with time. We should be supporting the players we have at the moment. Some of them have great potential. I think one of chelsea problems is that they have not played or developed any of there english players from there youth sides. Which we have a few that i think are going to be regulars in years to come.

Mighty reds

p.s my daughter loves pom bears

You should have put POM in capitals it looooks like "porn bears"

Eds you must get so pissed off with the same questions lol keep up the good work.
oh you heard anything from Macca? i looked on his page thought he might have some info - thanks
Pops {Ed002's Note - I am sure Macca will say if he hears anything he can share.}

The last I read from Macca was that Stevie G is out till New Year........

LiverBird

Nobody knows how long Gerrard will be out?

Treating infections is highly unpredictable

At best doctors can only guess

dark shadow

I wish someone would inform gerrard of natural medicine and he may be back sooner than expected

Infections are only problematic to treat when they are aggressive strains of bacteria. I read on here from somone that its a simple staph infection which is easy to treat with broad spectrum anti-biotics these days. A couple of weeks would be more than enough to treat it, then a couple of games to regain match fitness.

Joint infection would be easy to treat, however, it can damage the joint which is a much bigger issue.

Staph infections are not easy to treat

I suppose cipro cures all

Did you learn this on a spanish holiday island?

hi,eds are we really looking at promoted team players to give us that extra push towards champions league football..the likes of dyer,pilkington etc..
any chance of us bringing marco reus or andre schurrle or iker muniain ?
is luuk de jong a confirmed target or just one of those rumours? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it; probably not; yes.}

Whilst i'd be disappointed if dyer and pilkington were being targeted for that, lets not forget that charlie adam was at a promoted team last season and look how he's turned out...

Ian Rush was signed from chester! we use to find great talent.

Yes look how adam has turned over

He's No Stevie G, No Alonso, No Souness

Just how good is adam?

Ed002, I heard from my psychic that Elvis is planning a shock return from the grave to sign as our new right winger, allowing Henderson to take a more central role.

Do you think she's right?

PS- I'm having chicken for dinner, if that helps.

{Ed002's Note - Elvis has lost pace over the years and has moved in to a central midfield role. If having chicken breasts, always have a right breast as they are larger.}

Lol ed..

nz

Elivis may have lost mobility but is still an inspiration in the centre of the park and can dance his way past defenders. I hear he is also recording our cup final song as well. Not so keen on the new kit designs he has pur forward though, just don't sequins are in this year.

Rewflo

I think a lack of sequins is what has blighted our home form this season.

Sadly I also think we'll have to employ ninja assassins to kill the opposition keepers, if we are to stand any chance of converting our chances into goals.

It'll bring a whole new meaning to the phrase 'kill off a team at home.'

We simply can't afford to be squeamish any more...

I think we should just make our pitch wider and make the nets wider too, nobody will notice thanks to the new wider pitch. Problem solved.

Actually the left breast is larger as its nearer the heart

Ed, just a little question What happened to jack robinson, Is he injured coz i didn't see him in the reserve team that beat sunderland and also didn't saw him in the sbs bench often. Thanks

Abhi {Ed001's Note - he is not injured as far as I am aware, I don't know why he wasn't playing, though he is still eligible for U18 games, if I remember correctly, so maybe they are just being careful with him.}

Robinson is a really good left back from what i saw when he played in the first team last season. hope he gets more chances should put him in the game against chelsea if were resting players.

kelly coates carragher robinson

henderson spearing lucas downing

carroll kuyt

Aurelio might be a little disappointed with that team selection

Well while aurelio is a good player he disappointed us over the years with his niggling injuries. And also age is not on his side. Its time for us to look for future and not bother about players who won't be here long term. Any way even aurelio starts the match he will be most likely be injured at 30th min.

Why didn't we buy lavezzi why didn't we buy sissoko blah blah blah! It's easy to buy these players on fifa but back in the real world that doesn't happen you clowns, it's far more complicated! Listen to bellamys interview on L.F.C. t.v. we could have almost lost him to spurs until Kenny had a go at his agent and that was a free transfer of a 32 year old who supports us, tha'ts how complicated deals are! Some of you on here seriously need to go an wobble yer heads!

Waro

Im with you Waro.. Some people think real life football can be controlled like a video game.

Adzii

I think people need to realise that there will be very little activity during January - I would be surprised if we sign anybody in fact. We are operating at a loss and the owners will not spend money for the sack of it.

The players in the current squad are going to be the ones to carry us until the end of the season and maybe next season also. So rather than criticising them and getting on their backs people need to back them as there won't be any big-money replacements.

JRG

Definately JRG. I'm sick of the part time Liverpool fans on here and the continuous whinning, when quite simply there is nothing to whine about and the team are doing reasonably well!

Adzii

Liverpool urgently needs a creative player in the middle. Diego is the right one. Is not very expensive ...10 MIL. EURO

What? The same Diego who walked out of his last 2 clubs. Not welcome in our dressing room, besides hes signed for Athletico in the summer

Adzii {Ed002's Note - He is on loan at Atletico through next summer.}

How clever do i look now.. Cheers Ed002, ill get a refund for them Iceland Party Saugsages i got you for Christmas........

Adzii {Ed002's Note - Does that mean you are not hosting me and my wives for Christmas any more?}

Your still invited Ed002 but you will just have to do with a pack of pom bears instead.

Adzii {Ed002's Note - I don't know what pom bears are, but I am sure they will be real nice.}

Pom bears rock

Pom bears are very tasty ed lol

Danny

Ed why is it when i sign my posts my name never appears {Ed001's Note - I have no idea sorry.}

Hi Ed,
Seems to be alot of rumors flying round. (none of which sound true) Do you know of anything going on which is actually likely to happen???

Cheers
Big T {Ed002's Note - Everything we know has been in the posts that you need to go and read.}

I am 100% sure that the rumour regarding tomorrow being thursday is on.

Actually today is to-morrow from yesterday and by aztec calculations it tuesday

23 Nov 2011 15:11:01
Ed,
Do you think Luis Suarez can say, quickly, : Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers ?
And, before you say, I tried the search function but couldn't find anything.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - dammit I am sure I answered this question last night, I will say no, but I would love to see him prove me wrong!}

The Real KB, you never cease to entertain! I agree with ed001, it would be great to see him give it a go! We should start a petition..

Chris

Should get him to say im not a pheasant plucker im a pheasant pluckers son and i only pluck the feathers when the pheasant plucker comes,

Doubt he could do that

MJ

Maybe that's what he was trying to say to Evra? It is quite hard to say, quickly!

Myk

Chris,
I'm the secret lovechild of Blair Mayne and Ed002, so i suppose it could only be thus. However thanks for the compliment. I'll tell Ma & Da, they'll be delighted.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - not that secret any more....}

23 Nov 2011 15:09:05
In regards to the "how are Liverpool doing" question, I think too many people are speaking negatively.

Firstly I think we have been playing be very well this season, our main issue has been not converting our chances but I personally think it is only matter of time before we start doing this. This can be rectified by AC improving (which in itself depends on AC) or signing a striker in Jan or giving Bellamy more playing time.

Secondly we are only in November, the month where no prizes are handed out. If there is one thing Fergie gets right is that his teams move into top gear in March time. I think KK is also of the same mind. We are in the mix right now and as long as we stay there come Feb/March time I think we will take 4th place. I think we played well last season during the "important" period of the season and believe we can do the same again.

23 Nov 2011 14:36:15
I was watching a re play of the reserve game and just want to say how good coates looked he looks a fantastic prospect he did fantastic bar giving away a penalty between him and flanno the defence looked quality both of then dont look to far away from been ready to start and it was nice to see kenny and louis there to watch the game giblet

23 Nov 2011 14:08:53
ed so that would have been
pepe
jonhson/arbeloa,carra,agger,aurelio
gerrard,alonso,masch,silva
torres,villa
so this would have dominated for years under raffa and why did fans want him out ?
{Ed001's Note - because he spent more time playing politics than managing the team.}

Only fighting for what was best for the club surely u know this ed come on give me a proper answer

What was best for the club was for Rafa to keep his gob shut when we were running away with the league. Instead he pulled off some stupid rant which showed Rafa and Liverpool football club were being effected by Fergies comments. He was more bothered about how he looked and how he wanted to prove Fergie was wrong than what was best for Liverpool

Sorry, i respected what he did but can we move on from Rafa Benitez please!

Adzii

No was just sticking up for the club that blue nose c**t is always stepping out of line and gets away with murder ,and we were never really running away with the league u know that after xmas we fought till the end {Ed001's Note - but Rafa could have concentrated on proving his point on the pitch. Rafa is a lovely fella, he really does genuinely love the club and the city of Liverpool, but he can't help but get involved in politics.}

Mate, we were at one stage of that season in complete control of the league and it was ours to loose. Im saying if Rafa kept his mouth shut and didnt get involved and react then possibly our football would have done all the talking. Im not saying it was THE SOLE REASON we didnt win the league that year but it certainly didnt help. I liked Rafa, as i said i respect him and still do as he does has affection for the club. We need to move on and look forward though and stop lookinga at what could have been because that isnt going to have any effect on the future.

Adzii

Lucas contributed to that reason, but hes all better now :]

Rafa lost the plot because he wanted more power remember when we got beat by arsenal 6-0 (i think) its because Rafa played kids to prove a point to the owners

MJ

Fans didnt want him out most was sad, it was the backroom

23 Nov 2011 13:39:09
I have to say I am getting sick of the constant "buy, buy, buy" demands from some of you so called football fans.

Please just shut up and let Dalglish try to develope his own team. We are in a confortable postion at this stage of the year and WHEN Carroll does start firing we will climb higher towards success. Without the usual crew of people wanted to replace every player we have after they have a bad game or so, the only thing missing from the team is a 3rd choice striker which will no doubt be brought in sometime in January but that's it. The name and price of the player does not matter, all that matters is that Dalglish believes that the player can add something to the team and place the team into a better postion going forward.

G-Force

Disagree ,i dont think daglish will get us top four ,with the bad signings hes made and if im honest i think we are average at best

Spot on.

dd

Don't bite people don't bite

Waro

Don't give me this don't bite attitude. the plain and simple fact is that if Carroll starts to get of his lazy a*s and gel with the team a bit better then both he and Suarez will start converting more chances into goals and we will be winning those games we "expect to win" instead of drawing all over the place.

Forgetting price for a moment, not one of our signings this season have been bad. they all need a bit more time to gel as a team but they are still better then the options we had before we signed them.

G-Force

We did beat Chelsea right? I didnt dream that? And we did play some really nice football for all of the 1st half and some of the 2nd?

I only ask because there seems to be so much negativity floating around

Andy C

G-Force your right

MJ

23 Nov 2011 13:25:20
A poster earlier solicited opinion as to what folk's expectations for this season were prior to/at the start of the campaign.
Here goes.

When it became clear what the final composition of our squad would be, I was convinced and immediately concluded that we are not going to get top 4.

There's nothing I've seen thus far to make me think any differently.
This team isn't equipped to compete at the highest level.
I don't expect that we'll finish in the top 4. (Hope I'm proven WRONG.)

I also don't expect that we'll be too brave this January.
The market has been a very difficult place.
Right we have neither the dough nor the appeal to entice important players.

We must understand that Luuk De Jong, Mo Sissoko is the kind of talent we have the best of luring.
And we have to hope that they turn to be important players.
Don't mean to be negative.

Lastly, eds, Huyton Red, RealKB, what's the latest regarding the stadia issue? There seems to be no movement. It's all gone too quiet.
Anything, gentleman.

Baie dankie

Ray Burmeister {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to report on the stadium right now but I suspect that there will be soon as the extension the club were given must have run out or be close to running out.}

Dont think your right ray , i am still thinking we were a bit unlucky not to pick up more points 4-6 than we have done , i see us getting stronger , with the new players settling in now , and we can add in jan if needed , sunday told me we are getting what i think we have lacked over the years- more fight and toughness to our game , for the winter months ahead , we will only get better , top 4 - yes i really think so.............lfc

Seriously?
if we'd had a touch more luck and just taken the points against united, norwich and stoke (all deserved) we would be sat in 2nd place right now.
we've proven time and time again we are a match for just about anyone on our day, we're just bottling it against smaller teams for some reason.

Weve spent alot of money on what should have had us sitting in the top 3 comfortabley now ur talking of spending what another 30-40 mil to push us into 4th spot ?

So kk took over from roy , rebuilt half the squad for a net spend of around 30 million , and because there is a few ups and downs , we are a work in process, some of you cant get behind the team and manager and start to diss kk , liverpool supporters are made of harder stuff , stick behind the team , we will finish in the top 4 .............lfc

If wed of stuck behind raffa we wouldnt be talking bout rebuilding and trying to get top 4 it would be league title ,im not talking bout not backing kk im just saying how easy ppl turned of raffa after the night in istanbul of which a certain donkey mr houlier tried to take some credit for

We always seen to be a work in progress and i blame supporters attidude for this

23 Nov 2011 13:13:59
Is it presumed Dani Pacheco will return to Liverpool. Or is he set to stay permanently in Spain?

Great talent but apparently his attitude is terrible

23 Nov 2011 13:13:04
{Ed001's Note - I am guessing this is an open question, so I will give my answer to it. For me Kenny should get more time, whether we get top four or end up in the bottom half. You can't rebuild a club from the bottom up in one and a half seasons. No I don't think Rafa would have won us the league, the turnover of players was far too high under him. You can win cup competitions without a settled side, but to win the league you need a settled team that can play together regularly and know each other well.}

==============================================================
I do think Kenny should be given time, but what I would like the most is for Kenny to know when to leave himself, the last thing I would like to happen is for his legendry reputation to be tarnished by a bad last spell at the club, because most people will only remember the last time and forget about the great things he did on and off the pitch for most of his Liverpool career.
As for Rafa, well as posted many many times, he had to sell to buy, he was working with very tight budgets , that's why the turn over of players under him was high, but one thing though, I don't think Rafa would have paid 35m for player who would spend most of his time on the bench , he would've been slaughtered by the media, most of the fans and in particular in these pages, just look back at the abuse he got with the whole Aquilani saga, even after he left.

Roy {Ed001's Note - the high turnover of players was nothing to do with selling to buy, it is the way he works. If you have a limited budget, the sensible thing is to limit ins and outs anyway, so you don't have to pay up all those 'loyalty' bonuses in player's contracts etc.}

23 Nov 2011 12:27:16
ok then answer this do u think we will get top 4 this year and if not which i think do u think kenny should go,i know its early but raffa n roy got the same judgements early on ,and do u think if raffa had the new owners backing him now without all the drama and the no show of support from ex players and pundits do u think he would have won us the league with the new owners {Ed001's Note - I am guessing this is an open question, so I will give my answer to it. For me Kenny should get more time, whether we get top four or end up in the bottom half. You can't rebuild a club from the bottom up in one and a half seasons. No I don't think Rafa would have won us the league, the turnover of players was far too high under him. You can win cup competitions without a settled side, but to win the league you need a settled team that can play together regularly and know each other well.}

Ok so why was roy not given this chance because the fans and explayers will probley back kenny all the way unlike the backing roy was given,im a life long red and id love if kenny gets us back to winning the league but i dont think he will nor do i think he will get us back to the team we were under raffa {Ed001's Note - because Roy was clearly out of his depth, he didn't understand the job he was in, that much is surely obvious? He was just the wrong man for the job and the style of footie he wanted to play was awful to watch and designed to get draws and maybe snatch a win. He should never have got the Liverpool job.}

The 08/09 team was settled they knew exactly what their jobs were, if the new owners came in then and supported Rafael the.following seasons would have struck cup success, he had to turnover players initially and at the.end.

Roy didn't just go because we weren't making top 4, the style of football was agonising to watch, we were the most easily beatable side in the league, and his handling of the media was woeful.

In otherwords kenny's complete opposite. Regardless of whether we make the top 4 the improvement is unbelievable.
I'm enjoying watching us play again so leave him in charge!

Thats crap sorry ed i totally disagree,cup success ?champ leage force every year we were under raffa ok and 08/09 them with the 3 new signings are u saying we wouldnt have won the league then we were 4 points behind because of draws b ut with villa and silva u dont think we would of won the league {Ed001's Note - that's a cup isn't it? How many league titles did we win? Right, so not crap then, just an honest assessment.}

Ok ill put it to u kenny or raffa {Ed001's Note - Kenny without question.}

Bout roy getting the job why did he get the job in the first place then {Ed001's Note - because Gerrard and Carragher recommended him, that was the clincher.}

I think the truth is that Raffa had to work under the previous owners with all the problems that came with it and personaly i think we would have been in a lot more trouble than we are if he had not been our manager. I think we should all be glad he was here and for what he won for us.

Cole joined Lille on a year-long loan deal over the summer and has made an impressive start to life with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

He produced another fine performance in Tuesday's 2-0 victory away to CSKA Moscow to keep Lille's hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League alive.

23 Nov 2011 12:16:27
hi ed ,why couldnt we have bought 15m muinian,25m javi martinez and 30 lavezzi,for probley cheaper then 20mdowning 20m hendersonand 35-40 m andy carroll {Ed002's Note - Dalglish bought the players he wanted.}

Ok i know he bought players he wanted but who do u think 1-would play better and 2-u would rather c and 3- sell more shirts {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to answer (1), I have no opinion on (2), and (3) is irrelevant to the club.}

You are not even considering the fact these players may not have even wanted to come.

joehoover

Or how long ot might have taken tem to adapt to the premier league and lifestlyes
huddz red

Yeah rite huddz red, downing n carrol have still not adapted.

Look at their wages mate!

Give Torres credit he came on for the last 10 mins and it changed the game,Liverpool won!!

Micky Quinn

23 Nov 2011 12:08:22
hi ed do u think the owners will throw more money at kenny in jan ,idont considering the crap thats been bought with the money spent ,dont wanna sound negative but imagine if raffa spent 75m on downing carrol and henderson ?probley would have bought stefan jociavic,lavezzi,javi martinez

{Ed002's Note - The owners are not in the business of throwing money around. Spending in January will be limited.}

You don't wanna sound negative?

But you are though...

Why are people so hung up on price of players, thats who much they cost,and before you go off we should/could of got him or him. We weren't in such a good shape when Kenny took over,and a lot of players didnt see how the future of the club could change under the new manager, Yet these players did. We are only 12 games in and 3pts of 3rd,also I think FSG are more than happy with DC & KD and job that they are doing,so funds will be available if needed.So get back to your xbox/PS3 and let the professionals do there jobs.

IDHTDTSIO

I'm sure if the right players are available at the right price, we will look to bring in players who will improve the squad.

RedSG

Maybe they are hung up on the price of players because our ticket money pays for them.

--Henderson------Spearing------Lucas-----Downing

1 Major problem is Henderson, he should NOT be played on the right, he is a central midfielder.

eds when we signed henderson and downing which other clubs were in race for them?? {Ed002's Note - I don't recall off the top of my head - why not use the search function rather than ask me?}

Henderson was badly wanted by Red nose Fergie as a replacement for Scholes.

Downing was wanted by Arsenal but chose us.

People are only asking Ed002 You are pure moody you...nasty even...get a grip {Ed002's Note - So you think all of the editors have the time or inclination to sit here and answer the same questions over and over again do you? When we give repeated answers others then start complaining - which is why we introduced the search function. Do you think we should remove the search function? You could ask others to support your campaign to have the same answers repeated page after page just to console those who are "just asking".}

Question for posters and ed,

what were your expectations at start of season?

And what now?

For me i was very cautious of my expectations this year. I expected top 4 and a win in one of the cups.

Now my expectations are the same and we are on course to meet them.

Anyone else?

Rewflo {Ed001's Note - my expectations were to get a European place, my hopes and beliefs were that it would be top 4. I still feel the same way.}

TOP 4 beating Everton Chelsea and Man UTD still on

IDHTDTSIO

For us to be competing for a European place come the end of the season.

Not only are we on course for this but we are doing it playing great football again.

JRG

Have to agree, top 4 for me and a bloody decent run in the two domestic cups, hopefully getting to Wembley in one of them at least.

Whilst being in contention for the title wasn't on the cards, it was more realistic and prevented my sanity from going haywire if i didn't aim too high.

The problem will be when we genuinely believe we have a realistic chance of the title.

However what a lovely problem that will be.

The definition of genuine though is as far ranging as you can get with some of our supporters

Bob the Red

I always enjoy adding to a post that includes Bob the Red.
1) I think somewhere inside the walls of Melwood and Anfield, the goals were to compete for a CL spot (3rd or 4th) this season. Anything better such as a top 2 challenge would be seen as a bonus. A piece of silverware in the form of a FA Cup or League Cup would be seen as an additional bonus but not at the expense of our league position.
2) As we look at the league at the 1/3 way mark, the cream is rising to the top and there is a little separation with the current top 7 teams from the rest of the pack. We have played 4 of the 6 so far and collected 7 of the 12 points on offer. The spudz game we went down early to a fine strike from Modric, and by the time Adam and Skittles were sent off we were still only down 1-0. We beat Chelski and Arsenal away and should have taken 2 off the Mancs. No disrespect to the Barcodes but I think they will hang around till the new year and slowly retreat to the 7th spot but we need to take 6 points off them this year. A good result this weekend is a statement of intent and I think we can do exactly that.

We have a better squad than last year. Our bench is deeper and will only improve when Coates gets up to EPL speed and Stevie returns and gets a steady run. We will be in the CL picture as long as we play well, support our boys and continue our form along with a little luck.
10 days ago I started to see the Lucas is S**te posters come out again, and last sunday he shut down Lampfat and Remeriz. Allof a sudden we're getting the "Put Lucas man to man on Silva (the leagues early player of the year favourite) to disrupt the flow of what Citeh do as he pulls their strings. Which is it people???
Our scale of judgement is World Beater------>Great-------> Sh**e with no in between.

Support your players. Don't be so quick to judge. If everybody played great all the time we would only need a squad of 15. KK will nurture the young ones along and we will be positioned to compete for the top 2 sooner rather that later. Have some patience please, and know your own role as a Liverpool supported. Y.N.W. A. and JFT96.

Chi-Paul

If you offered me top 4 and an early exit from both cups I would have taken that no bother

Good morning ( evening in Oz) to all the Liverpool clan.
I have been keeping tabs on the Man. Utd fans having a dig at us for not being in Europe, however after watching them this season I have come to the conclusion that their dominant era is slowly coming to an end. eg. 2 or 3 seasons ago they would have wiped the floor against a team like Benfica however as we are seeing that is not the case anymore. I appologise for talking about them but I thought I would get it off my chest.
I would like to give a big thank you to Blair Mayne for his quick and decisive responses to their remarks and putting them in their place.
Finally if I can ask the a question of the Liverpool ed's , do you think that if injury free would have Harry Kewell been a great buy/player at Liverpool?
Keep up the great work you are all doing. Love the site.Aussie Jim {Ed001's Note - no I don't, his attitude was always wrong.}

I don't know whether it's just paper talk or what, but I don't mind at all these young British players that have been mentioned being linked with us recently.
I think that if we were to add in January, one / two promising, hungry young Brit players who would be proud to wear the red shirt, and who would not command huge salaries, would be a good tactic.
We're not gonna start throwing big money around, seemingly, in Jan and these players may be available.
Some of the continental players mentioned would cost more, want larger wages, and may not either want to come or be available in January anyway.
The time to go continental, is if and when (hopefully Summer) we've got a CL spot.

Would like to see Nicolas Gaitan at Liverpool, though it seems like there is no interest at the moment, he is a player whose reputation is growing & is developing. Forget all these crappy players Dyer, Pilkinton who are being linked with us by the stupid pressss.
Gaitan & Marco Reus in January!/ one of them.

Armando

Nicolas Gaitan would be a good buy however im sure he is part owned by third party so it would be a non starter sadly.

BigD

Sorry i was misunderstood about Gaitan he is not part owned as i said.

hey there ed! hope all is well! was wondering if by any chance we were still targeting any of these particular players: andre schurrle, mario gotze, shinji kagawa, mats hummels, sakho, lucas, and marko marin. i heard their names come up once or twice (and some more than that) during the 2011 summer transfer window and i think having some of these names come in would be fantastic for the squad. {Ed002's Note - Please use the search function.}

hi ed,
just wana know that although this weekend is big match for both liverpool and city (specially liverpool), both the teams have crucial quaterfinal fixtures also for the carling cup match.
I jst wana knw which match is bigger for mancini given the fact they ate 5 pts clear up.
are they going to play their key player like silva and aguero for the weekend game? what colud be the starting line up for city?
hims_red
{Ed002's Note - The league will be more important and both sides have a good enough squad to give other players a chance.}

iam sick of reading about all these so called players we are being linked with, norwich "pilkington" swansea "dyer".
are these the type of players lfc need and want? NO
i want players that run with the ball and take people on, players you pay to watch that excite the fans and team mates, raid napoli, hamsik, levazzi they were pure class, also still love to have nando back, after xmas there is no need for carrolls, so lets get rid of ours.
last season at fulham we destroyed them playing proper football, we do play like that every week top 4 guaranteed, sorry about rant.
january, xabi and nando back, carroll and kuyt sold

Finally someone else that agrees that Dyer is no where near good enough for us, i totally agree with you mate, shame Torres jumped ship as him with Suarez, Downing and Gerrard behind him would of bin scary, regarding Carroll his problem is that he seems a bit lazy in games and for a big fella he don't seem to put his weight around enough and attack balls coming into the box like Crouchy did, But on the other hand we cant judge him until he has had a run of successive games (6) to see what he can do.

BigD

Dyer is nowhere near the quality we need. We need to look abroad for our next signings I think. I'd like Soldado from Valencia as a striker.

Ash

Id prefer S.Jovetic i think he has more brains and can play anywhere across the front, we need clever players.

Jovetic has an issue with tendonitis in his knee which will restrict how often he plays, this is why he is injured so often and also why nobody has stolen him from fiorentina.

Rewflo

Think its first time i've agreed with you Ash. Soldado is a tremendous finisher as seen by his his first strike against Real Madrid. Aimed at the serly under Ash's is that we've already got the a forward who's clever and play anywhere across the front. His name is Suarez,its a goal scorer we need and until were in the Champions League again a player of Soldado's ilk is as good as were gonna get. Jonson

Jonson, there is a first time for everything! See, we can all get along...sometimes.

Things that I would do for the Manchester City game:

1) Shift Glen Johnson to the wing.

It has forever been known that Glen Johnson can't defend but his desire and skill to get forward is the reason he is valued so high and why he gets picked before others. If is attacking play is what makes him so great and his defending is mediocre at best why don't we do what Tottenham did with their star-man Gareth Bale?

2) Play Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez

The way these three can play together is no one off. We saw a glimpse of what Bellamy and Suarez can do together at the Brighton match and we also saw what they can do against Chelsea. I believe Maxi was handed his first start of the Premier league against Chelsea and he grabbed his first goal. Last season he played very well towards the end and I believe he has carried on this season [or he will do] so we need him to carry on playing because he was once named one of the best South American players in the world a couple years back.

3) Don't play defensively

A good reason for not playing defensively is Wolverhampton Wonderers. They played Manchester City twice and didn't look too bad for the first half an hour and then in the second half had a glimpse of a chance to get back in it. Liverpool fc is without a shadow of a doubt better than Wolves at attacking and can stun Manchester city by the way we approach the game. Especially since they are coming off of a Champions League loss.

4) Make sure Lucas follows David Silva everywhere he goes

This for me is the most important one because without David Silva they lack that final pass that they need to make their system work. If Lucas just sits on Silva and follows him then we have a good chance of winning.

5) Bury our chances.

The story of our season so far has been missing, missing, hitting the bar [no andy carroll pun intended] and missing some more. If we actually put our chances away against Stoke, Norwich, Swansea and Manchester United I believe that would put us into 2nd or 3rd place. If we actually bury our chances against City like we did against Chelsea then we should win the game because we can definitely create them!

6) Keep the centre back partnership the same.

Skrtel and Agger, I believe, have only let in 2 goals [if that] since Jamie Carraghers injury. It is no myth that Jamie Carragher has lost his pace and although he can give a hearty die-as-a-red performance I believe Skrtel and Agger are going to settle in together as they should have been doing for the past 3 years.

7) Give Andy Carroll the nod... to go home.

Yes, I am an Andy Carroll hater. I don't think he is good enough and I believe his pricetag is the fault of this. Let's just think for a moment. This year only, we have spent around 100 million pounds on new players. Who have been the standout performers of those buys? Craig Bellamy on a free, Jose Enrique at 6 million and Charlie Adam at 7 million. Stewart Downing at 20 million, Jordan Henderson at 16 million and Andy Carroll at 35million have all been mediocre. I haven't mentioned Suarez because Andy Carroll's hefty pricetag basically meant that Suarez can slide in to the team without any price tag pressure [as they spent more on someone the same day].

And that is it. Until next week [might do the Carling Cup with Chelski]. G'Night, lads.

TheShire.

Check your bank account soft lad,as you spent bugger all of that £35M for Carroll.
Forget the price tag, and just be happy that we have backers willing to stump up the cash (for the hottest young english talent at that time)in the first place.
Carroll is here for the long term so get used to it,and yet he has not yet set the world a fire,he still as a better return than Torres (who turned his back on us )an NGOG put together. Kenny knows the KID needs an arm around, him and the support of the team to help him find his form,and get the monkey off his back. It's just a shame that some monkeks are harder to shake off than others!!!
You are entitled to your opinion,but if you think you know more about the game than KD DC and liverpool's scouting team,you my friend need help.

How do we bury our chances?

If the strikers have two left feet?

Telling them to bury their chances is not enough?

How do you correct a striker who needs 10-20 chances to score one goal?

Is there a cure?

dark shadow

Luis fits that bill of missing more than he puts away aswell!!!

panic,panic now,buy him, sell him,sack him, panic, panic now!!!
and yet the league table says we are less than a 3rd way through the season and onlly 3pts of CLS,and we have done this without GERRARD (GWS) AND Torres.
Lets use Bellamy and Luis to keep the heat off Carroll while he finds his feet,and if only Carroll did have two left feet!!

IDHTDTSIO

I agree bar the carrol comment,he is still young. give him your support wether he's playin or not, forget the price tag and lets show why us lfc fans are famous

Im sorry but if i recall correctly then Carrol was amazing against city last season and scored a peach of a goal. maybe he should be giving a chance

pimpdaddy84

THE CURE IS SHARPNESS & CONFERDENCE

Really

sharpness and confidence are the cure for missed chances

It has nothing to do with skill or technique

Some things are natural they cannot be taught ask Robbie Fowler he was a natural goalscorer

I don't know what these sorry excuses for fans underrated Henderson. He's class and changed our approach to the game when he came on at Chelsea - upped the tempo and desire.

I'm sorry but this English thing is getting absolutley ridiculous now. 12m for Dyer?! Are u serious? Yes he is a reasonable player but the big clue that he is not a world class player is 1. the teams looking at him also (everton, newcastle etc) 2. he plays for Swansea and hasnt really set this league a light has he? We just seem so obsessed with with british thing we are willing to pay WAY over the odds for players all playing for poorer premier league sides, when so far the two foreign players (suarez, enrique) kenny has bought are performing the best out all the new signings tbh (maybe apart from adam). For the wing position exspecially we need some real quality, nathan dyer im affraid is not really showing any other team we mean business and want to finish top 4. We need to act now or I feel we will be waiting a very long time to regain our top 4 status.

Sloppy Joe

I understand the logic in trying to get players with EPL experience, because it's always risky to bring in someone from a different league, what if they won't settle easily etc. (like Aquaman).On the other hand I totally agree with the british overrated thing, but I'm pretty sure Kenny and Comolli sees it as well and will sort this out. YNWA!

HK

So where did Adam come from then??

Very funny mate. I guess 35m for Goetze or 20m for Marin or 45m for Cavani must mean they have british ancestory. Get over it, all good players cost big money. Dyer is a fantastic prospect. Henderson at 16m or Hamsik at 30m... I would rather have Hendo.

Really can't believe we are even talking about dyer as a potential buy regardless of the price, HE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB ...

Stupid when people say we should buy British because they settle better, Carroll and downing have proved that wrong.

James

I don't think only british players thing is set in stone. the club needed to be stabilised which is done. fans seem to forget the state we were in. lets see what happens from here on in
