Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

If FSG are reading this please understand one thing. Your devoted fans are 50/50 split on Rafa. You hear more from the pro's. That is because they can only talk. The redt of us are thinkers. The talkers say "he will spend more wisely". The thinkers know that he spent circa £18million on an injured player and paid him millions more to sit on a physics couch deciding he didn't want to play for us. He is now worth £5million and we are still paying him millions! Oh yes - he was a genius in the transfer market!
The talkers also say that under Rafa we challenged for the league. Well I'm sorry but you must understand, it was his spoilt-brat petulance and insistance not to play Robbie Keane because he wasn't his choice ("I know, let's put on El Zahr ? For the last ten minutes when we desperately need a goal to stay in title contention - instead of a lifelong Liverpool fan International sticker) ...... That COST Liverpool the title we all so crave!!!
Please don't listen to the talkers. Think!!!

I can confirm they are indeed avid fans of the site

Definately not 50/50 on Rafa, I'd Hazard a guess at around 20% wanting Rafa back, but they're not so bright these chaps so they're a little more vocal.

Red7.

No way is it a 50/50 split - I personally know of not one person who wants him back. He's the past thankfully. Hopefully when he doesn't get this, or any other job ( still unemployed after 18 months ) - he will disappear from LFC forever.

Hi, Is it pointless listening to transfer rumours when we havent got the people in place to make the decisons needed>

23 May 2012 23:14:02
Apparently Rodgers is still possibly in the running. Dof- Van Gaal, Manager - Rodgers, Number 2 - Borrel maybe??

23 May 2012 23:13:12
Can anyone give any definitive info Villas -Boas because one min its him the next its martinez the next its van gaal and its really starting to get on my tits all this bloody speculation also i wish that gobs@@te Ayre would stop talking allthe crap about the stadium is exactly what he said six months ago so obviously no real chage on that score ,thought parry was a muppet gut this fella is running him very close at the min!!!!!

From what i've read, Villas Boas is only interested in a job where there is the ability to have longevity so that he can get his plan up and running, he's not interested in another 8-12 month stint. He wants to put his philosphy into action and if its not an option, he's happy to stay out of work. Wheter he's actualy in the runnin for LFC Manager, maybe as he is currently unemployed and what FSG are lookin for, but i couldnt give u a definate yes or no on that.

Carb

Nobody has any info just yet, but expect an announcement sooner rather than later.

Ayre is a idiot.
It would be best if he kept his trap shut.
How he ever became MD at LFC absolutely astounds me, is he even qualified, or maybe just a 'yes man' for FSG.
His absence has been noted a 'key and critical times' this season.
It really irks me that someone like this is in a executive role at LFC.
Nuff said!.

23 May 2012 23:02:16
Ed paddy power no longer have betting for next Liverpool manager on their website.... Do u think an announcement on new manager is coming now?

Would love us to sign pereira (porto left back) moutinho, munain, de Jong and Ramirez. That would give us a squad good enough to challenge for the top 4

Moutinho, Muniain, De Jong, Ramierz
22m, 25m, 15m, 20m

Personally I'd take De Jong along with two of Moutinho, Muniain and Ramirez because it makes sense.

I'd like Pereia as well but we have Enrique and Pereia would cost £16m

This is not a rumour but fact. FSG will push for the right person to manage their investment. These guys don't mess about and want what is best to get Liverpool among the elite again. Kenny bought poor players like Henderson, Adam and Downing. Not good enough for Us and they need to shipped out, and they will be.

I agree we bought poor or we paid well over the odds , henderson looks like he can improve , how much we dont know , but downing will never improve , for his age he should have been one of our top players , he is an experienced international , but the excuse bedding in does not work with me , he's lazy and overrated , we all seen adam do it for blackpool week in week out , so it could have been nerves with him so if he gets settled and start playing like he did for blackpool then he will do well , its the old saying one bad apple ,and that bad apple is downing , the sooner he goes the better , but i cant see us getting what we paid for him back

Keep Henderson.

Absolutely keep henderson!

Bedding - in every single transfer kenny made in the summer was so that the team would just click bar coates. that's how he sold FSG the "buy EPL based players" sales pitch. and what happened he screwed us with his narrow mindedness.
point

I know for a fact Kenny pushed for both Downing and Adam. Downing, Adam defiantly doesn't match LFC profile in any way.

and the ONLY reason why Henderson and Carroll isn't on their is because they have something to prove. They are young and will over time show whether they can be depended on.

Have to get rid of:
Adam and Downing.
While they are at it, we can also get rid of some of the other useless and average players.

Do not keep henderson, adam or downing if some one will take them , poor players are the main reason we finished where we did ,managers try tactics and motivation but when a player is on the pitch the manager does not control the players movement , legs and head .
good players required at anfield please apply to fsg. liverpool fc are the number one in our equation.red mick tag

We bought players who were around the best with their previous clubs, and who should have been brilliant for us. They haven't been, but there was every good reason to buy them in the first place. Why they haven't played well - now that's the real question.
ND

That's what I like about so called loyal fans - slag young players off in public ( like you all did about Lucas ) - Henderson is the future, a quality central midfield player who will become a regular in both our side and the national side.

Henderson is quality! and Carroll will grow into a top player for Liverpool, Downing was probably the worst mistake Kenny Dalglish ever made, for the faith he showed in him Downing did actually nothing to repay that faith or the 20 million quid Liverpool threw away on him, if we sell him and we 8 million for him we have done very well. if Dalglish had his chance again im positive he would not sign him.
Charlie Adam seemed like he was just out of his depth, a decent player but i dont think he has the legs to play in a two in the middle of the park, unfortunately, because he seems to love the club and wants to do well. good enough for a squad player but not good enough to play a season for a team with aspirations of a top four finish.

Hi Ed's great site. But I must really admitt I am very disappointed over KK leaving the club or been sacked by the American owners. I really felt he had something going on with the team. 1 more year with him and he would showed us good results. It's to bad that owners in every clubs wants succes straight away. I have 2 point out one manger that got time to build up a good team. Alex ferguson. He almost got sacked after his 2 year in united. And I think if Kenny got one more year, he would accomplish the same. I don't blame the bad season on Kenny, but most of the problem lays on comolli and the players. As KK said when he took over no player is bigger than the club it self.

He had one bad season, but this season would been better if he still was with us.

We must give the new manager our support and patience to build up the team again. Can't sack manager every year because of one bad season.

I personally hope for Pep Guardiola. What you think Ed's?
If u got one pick of the world managers who would it be to lead our club? {Ed001's Note - it would be Marcelo Bielsa.}

Ed I agree that he would be the ideal candidate in terms of tactics and the football played.

However do you see a plausable way of overcoming the language barrier. Learn over the summer? A translator?
Thanks
N.I Red {Ed001's Note - Borrell as number 2?}

Kenny admitted that the bad players was his , and for me not getting a striker in january was his biggest mistake , he got enough money to spend not to have a bad season , 20 mill on downing is criminal , he wont get any better and we wont get what we paid for him , if that was down to kenny then what else did he have to do before you would say kenny was not the man for us , how many other bad luck seasons and how many places down the prem when you would say enough is enough , kenny failed if it was any other manager would you be saying the same thing , about another season ,

Playing Downing in the right place, with the right players around him, he will come good, Kenny, like LFC managers before him messed about too much and continued to play players out of the positions they were bought for.

hi lads great work
I am a concened pool fan no manager,no dof, no

23 May 2012 22:50:19
Did Borrell leave Barca because he was overlooked for Guadiola? and if so is he going to be happy if we bring in another young coach?

Did he leave when we appointed kenny? Young or not he was still overlooked

I think his contract was up and a new manager came in but Rafa convinced him to come to Liverpool.

I think if AVB or Martinez gets the job the club should get Pep Segura as the assistant as he has A LOT of experience in that department.

Or just give Borrell a 5year contract with pep as his assistant and watch our youth blossom in the first team. that would show real commitment in a long term project, our youth project the most important one of all.

We are all in this together!!!!!!

Chaps I am not sure or claiming to know who the next manager is but whoever it may be we have ALL got to get behind him and the team...remember some of the games at anfield last season the booing..........it was embarrasing.....hodgson for england song , that was embarrasing....so lets get behind the new manager ....WE are all in this together

23 May 2012 22:44:03
could anyone briefly explain which rounds the english clubs will enter the Europa league after Chelseas win please. {Ed022's Note - There is still some discussion regarding this, Liverpool are looking likely to enter the tournament August 2nd I believe though.}

Why? we were runners up and Chelsea got into champions league and Cardiff should then get our old slot.

Spurs go into the europa league as well, meaning no extra place for cardiff {Ed002's Note - The runners up in the Carling Cup are not eligible. There were no circumstances that would give Cardiff a place.}

Eds any further info on the situation we have people saying AVB is coming in but the guardian are reporting that he has not even been approached is this jus paper talk or is there actually no interest in him I reckon he would be a good fit. Young manger with fresh ideas just what we need

23 May 2012 22:34:02
Guardian are reporting that we have cooled our interest in Villas boas. Twitter was on ball again I see.

Mighty reds

Yeah cause the Guardians always right pffft

None of the papers know s**t, that's why they're all turning this way and that like headless chickens. Not saying that twitter is reliable because obviously it isn't but the papers really are grabbing and they're getting pi**ed off because they're getting no info. I think that's why we're getting so much negative press.

The Guardian was the one that originally said that AVB was going to be interviewed. Nobody has a clue what's going on behind the scenes, and it's just the way it should be.

FSG don't know who they are gonna appoint yet, hence the interview process, so how the hell are journalists, based in England, gonna know?
FSG seems a closed shop regards info, which is a good thing I think (no-one even knows who is advising them, there's no moles, they run a tight ship over there) the only reason people know about Martinez is cos Dave Whelan wanted to get his fat raddish like head on Sky sports again.
The papers fluctuate more than anyone, don't give too much credence to what they proclaim.

As for the SOS letter, what do they want? daily bulletins of progress. They did well in their part in ousting Hicks and Gillett, but you don't speak for all Kopites, and you don't need to be 'in the loop' in regards to this. They're believing all the s**te being peddled by Sky and the red tops. You wanted Kenny back, we finished eigth, let FSG do their job and then judge them.

I can see AVB being appointed and then only slight tweaks in squad required to play his system correctly as we have the keeper to play sweeper and back four to hold a high line.

We have Lucas to sit while the centre backs split. Only players required would be Muinian for wide left wing then Carroll would be main striker Suarez right wing tucked in and gerrard right centre mid with drviing runs in behind Suarez whilst he cuts in.

Moutinho would be signed as LCM playmaker. We could even sign Pierrera as cover at left back. AVB tried to sign Moutinho and Pierrera for chelsea but Porto wouldnt sell at the time. They are now both avilable.

Sounds like plan.

U might get the job

You need to get out more

You know it makes sense

A replacement for kuyt; De Jong (back up to Carroll) or Maxi Lopez or Ngog cheap option for back up and Promote Ngoo who is 19 now and is as good as or better than Carroll with the ball at his feet.

A replacement for maxi would not be needed as we have; Pacheco, Silva (who I think AVB would use and why not he is the most ready for the prem other than maybe Pacheco but Silva has more pace and strength), Sterling, Suso, Teixeira

we need a left back who is good enough to rival Enrique. Juan Vargas can play LB, LWB, LM, LW

Lodeiro on a free transfer; AM

then sorted

Muinian £22m, Moutinho £20m, De Jong £13m, Vargas £6m, Lodeiro free= £59m

========reina========
johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique
========lucas========
==Gerrard====Moutinho===
====Suarez======Muniain
========Carroll=======

========DONI========
kelly, carragher, coates, vargas
===Henderson=Shelvey====
Silva====Lodeiro===Sterling
=======De Jong=======

Henderson and Shelvey have a good balance between them (one the u20 captain and the other u21 captain)

Lodeiro playing the Mata role can also be played by Suso, Adorjan and Teixeira.

Silva and Sterling providing the width.

Ed maybe you or someone else could clear this up for me, recently we were heavily linked with Cruyff in the DOF role which made sence if as we have been led to believe we are following the Ajax/Barca club model of developing through our youth system.
Now we seem to be getting linked with Van Gaal? I know the 2 men dislike each other but as the reason Cruyff was mainly arguing against, in ongoing Ajax dispute was that Van gaal would damage the youth development programme ( backed up by the youth team coaches inc Jap Stamm and Dennis Bergkamp).
So why the hell would we now be looking at him?

23 May 2012 22:01:24
Eds. I was going to reply to my earlier post where people say i am wrong about Liverpool entering the Europa League at the 3rd qualifying round but decided to create a new one. This should clear things up for everbody, hopefully. The access list on Uefa's site can be seen here www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2013/accesslist/index.html

Now to clear up the confusion, from what i can determine we are definitely in at the 3rd round, because of our Carling Cup win. Some people have pointed to the Stoke situation last year, where they entered the group stage after losing the FA Cup. Here is why this cannot happen this year. With Chelsea winning the Champions League but finishing outside the 4 places Tottenham have been granted the English place for the Group stages. Had we won the FA Cup then it would have been us but in this unique situation Spurs get it and not us.

I know there will be some who will continue to dispute this until the draw is made, but that is the situation, from what i've researched. Furthermore, following on from my earlier list of those teams already in the group stages, Inter Milan, Marseille, Lazio, PSV, Sporting Lisbon, CSKA Moscow, Bordeaux, Stuttgart, AZ Alkmaar, Hapoel Tel-Aviv and AEK Athens are just some of the clubs vying for the group stage also.

Cork Red Boi {Ed016's Note - its true, we start playing August 2nd)

So we win something and spurs don't but yet they get our spot, bloody brilliant.

Spurs have had a CL place nicked off them. Thought everyone kept saying the prem is more important than cups.
So how can we complain if Spurs go straight to group stages instead of us?

AVB fits the bill perfectly for what it is the owners want, and it is becoming increasingly likely he will be the new LFC manager. Villas-Boas is looking for a long term project which again, suits our club perfectly; given time this man will get it right, and with the right people around him, i.e - good owners, a good Director of Football (Van Gaal, Txiki Begiristain, David Dean) and a young squad, our once great football club can once again become a 'bastion' of European football. Now this is a rallying call, as fans, can we all together stop trying to influence the owners and make their decisions for them. It will not work, they are winners. They are successful business men, and have brought success to sports clubs before, give it time, and I expect, that in two or three years we will be back where we belong, competing for cups and hopefully the league. We are LFC, not Blackburn Rovers, have faith, strap in and enjoy the ride. The good times are coming YNWA

Now this is a rallying call, as fans, can we all together stop trying to influence the owners and make their decisions for them. It will not work.
Says all this whilst championing AVB.
Contradicting yourself or what?? :):):)

Hey Ed, Just wondering why my barton/ suarez violence or racisim post was taken down? i didnt mean any offence by it {Ed022's Note - I didn't take it down mate, and I have no idea why it was taken down and I agree with you, it was a valid point.}

23 May 2012 21:03:07
edds / Macca what do you think about LVG as DOF , AVB as Manager and Borrell as his assistant ? {Ed022's Note - It'd be nice.}

23 May 2012 20:56:16
Hi Eds or Macca. Just a question - Is there still interest in Gaston Ramirez now that Kenny's gone and we have no manager? I know it's a silly question but I'm just wondering cause he's a real talent. And *m remebering you posting an that Napoli look like front runners. Make that one question two, who would you like to see as a manager for Liverpool next season? Cheers and great site {Ed022's Note - It is impossible to tell who we are or are not interested in at the moment. I would like AVB, but every one knows that haha.}

23 May 2012 20:44:20
hi ed sorry if this was asked b4,have we any interest in leandro diamaio

jeff {Ed022's Note - Well not at the moment, as we have no manager or DoF.}

23 May 2012 20:42:56
Hi eds. Can you just clarify what you think is happening with the management position at the moment as there are so many conflicting reports and your more in the know than most of us.

Cheers

Neilp {Ed022's Note - Nothing's happening as of yet mate, it's difficult due to all of the media BS etc, especially for you fans.}

No-one has got a clue mate. I read TIZER'S post on the rumours page about the website set up to get Rafa back. How desperate is that? I can understand some fans want Rafa back. But to go to these extremes, is embarrassing.

I also read the posts about SOS'S letter they wrote. I actually read this letter last week and thought then, that it was a bit rash and premature. I browse most LFC sites and sometimes post. And have noticed, that the majority of fans are frustrated and still a bit angry, in which FSG dealt with Kenny.

IMO, we should just be patient and give it a few weeks. FSG have a plan and probably had it since they bought the club. Lets see what their plan/plans are and then judge or criticise after we've found out what that plan is.

Most fans and sites seem to have their knickers in a twist. And the only reason I can see for that is fans are listening to the gutter press. According to them our club is in turmoil and us LFC fans are buying it? We are better and smarter than that, always have been.

Let FSG get on with it and do their job.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Couldn't agree more, Blair. While I think speculation and banter around who it might be is kinda interesting, anyone who states inside info or all that nonsense I tend to ignore.

Right now there are very few people involved in this process (or at least it seems that way) so I wouldn't expect much in the way of leaks or whatever which is as it should be.

That said, can't wait to see how it all shakes out and looking forward to a fresh start for LFC next season.

RDL

I don't really agree with that Blair.
I think that FSG have maybe finally removed any traces of the old Liverpool. Dalglish was that link, and it's gone now.
I can't think of anyone at the club, in a senior or main football role, who was there back in the day.
That hasn't happened before, and the lack of continuity is a bit disconcerting for some.
The Real KB

Well said mate we need to stop listening
to the press

Lets be honest KB mate, Kenny was probably only part of FSG's plans. As a ambassador or part of our back room setup. I don't think they ever had planned or wanted Kenny for manager. After reading loads of posts, sites, articles and reaction from the fans after his sacking, you can see why. They always knew if Kenny wasn't successful, they had a massive decision to make (which they did). But FSG didn't want to put Kenny in charge, us fans made them. And the funny and ironic thing is most fans also wanted Kenny out?

The old Liverpool will be here long after me, you, Kenny, John Henry and Tom Werner are long gone. Don't worry about that mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

What Im saying is, since FSG took over, we're on our 3rd manager. If they didn't want Kenny, why give him the money ?
Or was that Comolli's responsibility ?
If it was, FSG messed up there too.
I've said before, and I'll say it again, they have not impressed me.
If they get the stadium conundrum sorted, I will think better of them.
But it all feels like it's on the hoof.
The Real KB

If Hodgson was still in charge KB mate, they would have gave him the money too. They just reinvested the Torres and Babel money back into the squad. Commolli played a small part in the transfers mate,.Kenny said himself all the players were his choices.

I'm just waiting to see what they do next. After having H&G at the club, it's only natural we are a bit sceptical/nervous. Once bitten, twice shy.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

We are the fans, FSG r the professionals. Let them do the recruitment the way they want, our job is to support whoever comes in, not push our owners around to get what we want.
Indian Buzzer

23 May 2012 20:42:15
Look, we have no manager. FSG are as tight as a gnats chuff about what is released to the media. No manager means there cannot possibly be a transfer budget and that means no transfer targets......simple as that. Note to the Ed's. Great site chaps but at the moment I'd book a holiday for the week. Ain't nowt gonna happen for a while......love the gossip though!

23 May 2012 20:41:27
Hello Ed002,
can you please explain where are the talks with possible future managers taking place, in Liverpool or in the US cos I'm confused. People keep on posting that they saw AVB, Van Gaal or Martinez or whoever in Liverpool and then that someone is in the us for talks. thank you. {Ed022's Note - Ed002 isn't around at the moment due to her cycling trip across Bosnia. I believe that location isn't necessarily important, as they could be held in either the US or Liverpool. I would say the US is more likely.}

Ed oo2 next manager what do you guys think ? {Ed022's Note - As I have said, 002 is not around at this time.}

If they're in the US ed mate, who's doing the interviewing ?
Is it Werner & Henry etc themselves, those well known 'soccer' experts ?
The Real KB {Ed022's Note - I would imagine so, as recently they seem to be taking more of a 'direct' control of things within the club. They want to personally make sure we get the right man, it's good in my opinion.}

I've been to Bosnia. I wouldn't go again and certainly not if I had to pay.

23 May 2012 20:40:09
Well it's been a while since I posted but I have continued to read on a regular basis and it never ceases to amaze me the views of some people on here.

As many of you know I stood firmly in the KD corner and was genuinely gutted when he was sacked, I thought he at least derserved a second full season. Still he left, in my opinion, with his dignity firmly intact and is and always will be a true legend!

Now we are looking for a new manager (again!) the views on here range from the sensible to the ridicules, yes I know it's a rumour page but let's try and keep it sane for a while.

The two main points they shine through are the sudden mis-trust of our new owners - based on what? - and the absolute condemnation of either Vilas Boas and Martinez.

The owners, at what point have they suddenly stopped being correct in what they do? Okay sacking KD may prove to be a massive mistake, but who know's? I don't (and you all know I backed KD all season) do you? Lets not forget FSG saved us from going under, do you really think that they are going to throw away £300m + and ruin us? No chance, why would they? they are businessmen. They are looking to get it right, on and off the field. Let's not forget they run this club with their heads and not like us with our hearts!

Vilas Boas, okay so he failed at Chelski (if I recall there were numerous calls on this very site last summer for him to become LFC manager) but maybe he has learned from this experience, maybe our dressing room isn't run by players nearing the end of their career's who don't like being dropped - If he is asked, and if he takes the job then he gets my support, as did KD, why? because he is MANAGER of MY club, simple as and as such deserves a chance to suceed.

Martinez, again the voices against him amaze me. Yes he wouldn't be my choice, buty he is a bright manager and maybe his time has come to step up to a bigger stage, again if he gets the job he will get my support for the same reasons as mentioned above. We pride ourselves as fans as being knowledgable about football yet when something comes along we either don't like or understand we're up in arms - given the reaction on here for the two names mentioned then thank god these boys weren't around in 1974 when Shanks retired and we appointed a Physio as Manager, the one and only Sir Bob (still the only british manager to win 3 European Cups) he would never have got the job and our history would be so much different.....

The point here guys is at least take a step back, stop believing all the s**te the TV, Radio and papers are throwing at us and take a deep breath. I know if I had ever invested £300m+ on a decision I would do everything in my power to make sure it's the right one and would certainly take my time making it, wouldn't you?

Instead of moaning about them and the supposedly choices they are making start to believe in them and trust in them again as the own our great club and want to take us back to the top once more. TMac

TMac you are spot on... when i get home from the chippy i am going to order a new shirt with TMac on the back, if you dont mind?
SmackBap

Smackbap, your better with luis on the back, or better still LFC JFT96, but thanks made me laugh!

Brilliant post, I also supported Kenny and was gutted he didn't get another season at least but hey! we move on and live in hope for a change in our fortunes.
God knows we deserve a break; like getting the new and young Mourinho/Capello? could it be AVB or Martinez? A new young Manager will sooner rather than later take the Premier by storm with a big club?

Ok the situation is as follows, JH (that's what we call him) was initially dead set on avb but then Werner started pushing Martinez and Van gaal forward and JH started to sway. BUT a couple of days ago JH came in and said he was right back with avb and wouldn't stop until he had his man.

Werner was upset at first but then JH said that van gaal would still be dof so that smoothed things over fortunately.

The deal is set be announced on June 1 to coincide with the Olympic torch being in Liverpool. Knowing JH like I do he will probably try to arrange for avb to carry the torch past anfield lol! He can be a bit like that but I like him.

Who are you? Rome 77

23 May 2012 20:32:33
bielsa IS a communicator he is also scientific in approach which is supposed to be important to fsg we can get round initial language probs dont lose out mighty reds i had this feeling when we lost out on roy keane years ago

Honestly I think anyone not fluent in English is a non-starter.

FSG are going to make a big push into the States, and the manager will have to be media-friendly. Hence AVB and Martinez.

for the summer

in's

Doumbia 5m
Moses 12m
Honda 25m
Ramsey 500k

out's

Doni 2m
Carroll 30m
Suarez 60m
{Ed022's Note - Who the hell would pay that much for Moses?}

More to the point who would pay that much for carroll

You didn't get a single player remotely close to their price.

BthekingB

No manager and yet this lad knows who we'll buy and sell haha crazy!

Honda 25 million and doumbia 5 million just because you paid that for them on fm mate doesnt translate to real life

25m for honda ?

He's got a good engine

15m for honda
20m for doumbia

Original poster put a smile on my face...how can so all those transfers be so off valuation? hehe

Ramsey 500k?
I hope you mean Gordon, because Aaron would cost a bit more than that!

23 May 2012 20:08:13
It wasn't long ago us liverpool fans were posting we'd sign this player and that but now were posting who will be our new manager before we can even think which player the new manager will try to bring in

It is no secret that Liverpool is interested in the South American, with reports as early as December 3, 2011.

Ramirez joined Bologna from Peñarol in 2010, making 58 appearances and scoring 12 goals in his two-year stint in Serie A.

He could be joining Liverpool, tempted by fellow countrymen Luis Suarez and Sebatian Coates.

Managing director Ian Ayre has released a statement that Liverpool will continue to look for transfer targets amongst back room reorganization: "It's a big machine that works around the acquisition of players at Liverpool and the fact that today we don't have a director of football or a manager, doesn't mean any of that stops."

If Liverpool were to bid on the player, it could be as much as €20 million.

There were reports in late March, however, that an English club has indeed bid on Ramirez.

Could it be Liverpool?

Could another Uruguayan be joining the Liverpool ranks? {Ed022's Note - I responded to this post, and I've said that it's been very clear that we have been interested in Ramirez. However, we have never put in a bid for Ramirez, and interest may disappear under the new manager.}

As far as I'm concerned buying the entire Uruguayan squad at the moment wouldn't be a bad idea -McMenemy

hey eds i copy/pasted and then posted something about AVB earlier from another site on this one. just wondering why it did not get through. it is quite long and i was wondering if thats why it did not get posted. i have been checking all day for it so please dont tell me its here unless you can find it for me! (ED022 i posted it on the LPool page on Player-profiles.co.uk aswell, would like an input on it if you would on the other site which coincidently is not on that one either!)
JLFC {Ed022's Note - There is a word limit on the sites mate, and some will not get through. If you put the question in smaller format on this site of player-profiles.co.uk I'll happily answer for you mate.}

Ill send you the link if you would like on player profiles? i cant format it with out getting the full thing.... JLFC {Ed022's Note - I thought it was the post regarding Gaston Ramirez?}

ed i have posted in 2 questions today and neither have been shown up?tanx

majestic69 {Ed022's Note - What were the questions?}

It regarding the new stadium liverpool have planning permission for ,the capacity will never be able to exceed 60000,what is the point of that , could we not add 20000 to anfield then in another 10years say add maybe 10000-15000 again ?

majestic69 {Ed016's Note - well nothing has been announced officially so how can we possibly answer that question. 60,000 is a good number, would see the stadium sold out every game still.)

It's not a "questions" site {Ed016's Note - there is a questions section)

Hi ed's, Macca

Just seen the picture uploaded a couple of days ago with the away kit and the 3rd kit.

Do you think these are real? Because I noticed the away one and the 3rd one didn't have collars (no polo tops unlike the home kit).

But maybe the color scheme is right?

You know anything ed's or macca?

JanBorman {Ed022's Note - They may or may not be the kit design mate.}

Tonights 'running round-up' has a surprise return - Rodgers, who has suddenly started being mentione d all over the press. In addition in Europe the press has started mentioning an 'un-named member of the Dutch Squad management'. The Dutch squads management consists of van Marwijk, Voorn, Cocu & Faber. The reports don't name which one so I've just added them as 'Dutch Squad'. If the situation doesn't clarify by this time friday they can join rulled out. In ruled out note the addition of van Gaal. Although there appears to be some sort of connection, it is looking more like he is either in the running as DoF, or he has been freelancing as an advsor to FSG. RED LENIN

STILL POSSIBLE
Martinez, Villas-Boas, Capello, Laudrup, Benitez Ancellotti, Nicol, Bielsa, Klinsman, Pardew, Rodgers, Dutch Squad.

RULED OUT
Kean, Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho, Lambert, Redknapp, O'Neill, de Boer, Deschamps, Rijkard, Allegri, van Gaal.

Hell of alot more than the suspected 12 there m8

Rule out: Pardew, Benitez, Laudrup, Ancellotti and the "Dutch squad"

Hi Eds and All,
Is it just me or have sky sports gone a little quiet on our club of late? They keep talking about Aston Villa though!
Maybe it's because they have spilling out a load of cr.... Sorry assumptions and actually seems the press in general don't have clue what's going on, just like me!
I am cool with it all, I await the choices they make before I make a decision on rights and wrongs.
Bazzaa {Ed022's Note - Sly Sports - the home, of sh*te news.}

Not Liverpool related but I see Barton has been given a 12 match ban. Now all that is needed is for QPR to find a way of cancelling his contract
Puzzled

Good luck, his wages are quite high... Really it'd be cheaper to have him bumped off...

Avb will become a legend at the reds.
Remember when clough took the leeds job he was a proven winner and sacked to early look what he went on to achieve at forest so come on fsg get us avb quick

You compare avb to clough...... Muppet!! Clough was the Jose of his generation.

23 May 2012 19:13:36
Please can someone please tell me one really good thing about AVB, apart from the fact he is young and obviously arrogant. I have posted before about my fear of LFC being run by a manager like that but at times feel i must be missing something. Personally, although it would never happen, what LFC need now is a manager like Harry Redknapp, who has not only proven over and over again to be a great man manager, but also who pursues an aggressive attacking style of football, so even when you do lose you keep your supporters happy to an extent.

With AVB we will probably lose a fair few before getting into a groove but win or lose will likely not enjoy watching our team play!!!

Eds, do any of you rate AVB as a good take over manager? Personally i was happy with Kenny to be given more time, but thats old news now and i guess time to move on

thxs for all your work guys
gareth {Ed022's Note - Avb in my opinion is very tactically sound, has the guts to try and change things up, tries to encourage good football, won the Europa League with Porto at 33 years of age as well as the Portugese league. Very nice guy also. I find it amusing that you say AVB is arrogant and Redknapp isn't.}

Agreen with Ed022, seems a nice bloke and Redknapp exhumes arrogance. Don't think AVB had the team on side - cant see why. He has proven much in a short time and is friends with Mourinho so has the best mentor at hand. AVB is my choice and deserves this chan ce to prove how good he is and his knowledge of the game.
Shame on you Gareth!
Bazzaa

Rednapp one trophy in 30 years, overrated. also he is a bit dodgy in business dealings, got away with last one in court, but if more were to come to light then it would be a mess for liverpool. (fa knows something as did not even consider him for england)

B O H

And how is the style he plays boring....

Harry's around a while and has won very little. Think it's 1 fa cup, 1 league cup and the inter toto cup. O and a promotion. Not much in 25 odd years management. Liverpool Manager no way!

Spot on ed. Avb comes across as s nice man and I think the way he dealt with all the crap from some of those Chelsea players is s credit to him

Well considering most people in country wanted him as England manager i think to say he's not good enough for LFC is laughable. I love LFC but its such a stupid thing to say.
Harry has now got a good budget to spend but has spent most his years with little budget and was able to challenge far higher up the table than i think any other manager in english football could have done.
Seriously like him or not i would far prefer harry than AVB who has not got a proven record at all.

You think AVB plays attractive attacking football??

Shame on me!? lol
I actually do not believe Harry is arrogant like you say...he only just admitted to being rubbish at managing his life at home, can't spell, can't write and also SAID MANGERS SHOULD NOT TAKE MUCH CREDIT FOR WINNING FOOTBALL GAMES lol. Not to mention he has an amazing record for changing teams for the better
Eds im surprised at you! lol (just kidding)

I did actually want someone to tell me why AVB would be good and you have done that so thanks
gareth

What like southampton and portsmouth

Lol
yes, remind me how they did?
lol
gareth

AVB is tactically sound?! Ha!

Looking through the pages Chelsea are buying big with hazard moura falcoa higuain etc
united with hazard kagawa etc
city will obviously spend
Spurs with vertonghen
Arsenal have already signed podolski and look good for mvilla

It doesn't look good for us as the gap is getting larger

That means nothing because every team in the prem will sign players and get stronger but next season is going to be the hardest season for places,there are about 9 teams who next season will be competing for european places.Terry

True, but the way i see it, players like hazard especially, may not be strong enough for the prem, whole different league to what that lot are used. plus when a new manager comes in, who knows what it might attract. Sean

Hazard to both Chelsea and united. As they say in liverpool Calm down .Calm down.

By the sounds of hazard he would like to play for every team in the prem

Hi eds, you may be able to help as i am confused. How or why are we still being linked with players such as de jong, ramirez etc when our manager and dof have both got the sack? If these were targets they were targets for kk and dc, but with neither here anymore how can these or any other players be linked to us at the moment.
Thanks for any help on this one. Jayo {Ed001's Note - because papers fill their pages with crap.}

23 May 2012 19:04:37
Would AVB consider the Chelsea owner situation any different to that of the Liverpool one?

I doubt it.

I would fully support any new manager but this just doesn't sit right and makes me uncomfortable.

Good luck to any manager who takes on the job.

They'll need it.

23 May 2012 18:55:20
what about Maxi Lopez on a 3year deal? would be a good option to have, with Aquilani also coming back he'd have maxi Lopez, Doni and Lucas as Italian speakers, and Lopez would have them, Luis, Seb, Pepe, Jose as Spanish speakers. we could do worse, he is "6"2 and has the physical ability

Lucas is from Brazil and in Brazil they speak Portuguese right? {Ed022's Note - Oui.}

Is this guy serious?
Still going on about aquillani?
I'll put it simply: no matter what players are where, he does not want to and will not again play for Liverpool!
You plonker

Brazil speak portuguese not italian though,..

Doesn't Lucas have an Italian passport hence how he got to play in England with no fuss about a permit???
So maybe the poster meant that???

COULD THERE BE ANYTHING IN THIS ED. {Ed022's Note - I have no idea where this is copied from, but it was a waste of everyones time posting it. Yes there has been interest in Ramirez, and if you didn't know that you live under a rock with a family of toads in which you may or may not have fornicated with. Come on mate, wake up.}

23 May 2012 18:50:46
Looking increasingly likely that AVB is a more credible candidate, with Van Gaal working above him as director of football/technical director role.... i think this is good, van gaal will keep AVB with no nonsense approach. although AVB failed with chelsea, he doesnt have the same issues with hierachy in the team, Gerrard, Reina, Suarez are the only players with a real say in the side, and are guaranteed starters every match, We are not like chelsea with all the egos and big boys. {Ed022's Note - Spot the word change.}

Big or boys? {Ed022's Note - Big it is.}

I heard different ed and the saying round here is theirs no point putting a tack where a nail's been!

23 May 2012 18:42:19
A question for the eds:
Why are player for player trades so uncommon in football? It is used widely in US sports often involving multiple teams, players, cash and prospects. Do you think FSG may attempt to use this method to aid in rebuilding without splashing massive sums of cash, and potentially lighten up the wage bill.
Seems like an obvious solution to me, but the stumbling block could be getting other clubs to change their mindset. This would also remove some of the price tag pressure that players like Carrol are feeling. It's also a great way to get maximum value for ageing players.

The Red Seth {Ed001's Note - because it is very rare that two players both want to move to the teams involved. It is not like American sports, where they are all franchises with very little real difference between each franchise, especially in terms of wages paid. It just doesn't work.}

23 May 2012 18:42:10
It is very important for us to sign a manager with vision, ambition and who is dedicated for the goals (aims?) Liverpool has. It is also important for us to have a manager who can attract quality players, for instance Rafa could attract players from Spain, AVB could therefore attract portuguese players or portuguese speaking (brazilian).
I think AVB would fit into Liverpool and the ambition we all have. But all! Forget about Falcao! Atl. Madrid gave 40 M €, we cannot get him for less or for the same.

23 May 2012 18:28:40
Hi

Reports that Chelsea have reportedly had a 40 million offer for Brazil midfielder Lucas Moura rejected.

He is also a reported LFC target
but I guess if an offer like that is refused we don't stand a chance.

Is any of this true Ed's or readers.

Patience patience Patience

Ynwa-sa {Ed001's Note - Chelsea have bid for him, not sure how much though.}

23 May 2012 18:21:46
I for one think Martinez is first choice avb is not really throwing himself forward or giving nothing away he already has a job offer in Roma there's more of a risk taking him on check his interviews out he can't handle the pressure. There's no other contender in line other than Rodgers what ever happens let's get behind them let's get the feel good factor going I for one don't think last season can happen again no mater who's in charge let other clubs implode with who their selling and lack of investment.

23 May 2012 17:59:33
is avb manager?
{Ed022's Note - Nope.}

He is by trade, yes.

23 May 2012 17:45:12
Another question Eds!!
Why are we always behind, be it new signings or the development or the construction of a new stadium?? would like your opinions on FSG and their credibility....I'm still unsure...sometimes, I feel they care for the club and fans and want to bring back the club to the top where we all fans want to see LFC....BUT sometimes, I feel they are just showing off to care for the club..the new stadium (they still don't know what to do), the sacking of Kenny (very unfair to me & trying to replace him with the likes of AVB, Martinez and Rodgers who are no better than him, according to me).....I'm still unsure...would like your views to have a better understanding...thx!!
San {Ed022's Note - It's just how things work mate.}

23 May 2012 18:19:48
More stalling on the stadium. Same old, same old.

23 May 2012 17:58:32
I know the eds have always said it, but I want to confirm that Liverpool has no chance of signing Lucas moura. Sao Paolo has rejected chelseas 40m euro offer. Can we beat that? I don't think so.

If anything, FSG has shown that they will do what they see as necessary, and follow their "plan" (whatever that may be). This includes not only coaches and management, but players also. If they paid 35Mil for Carroll, 20Mil for Downing, and 16Mil for Henderson, then paying 40Mil or more for Lucas Moura, if they want him, is hardly a stretch for them. All options are possible. ra1969

23 May 2012 17:55:53
is martinez in boston ready for talks tomoz on a 2nd interview.

23 May 2012 17:55:50
Why does AVB every day supposedly get the liverpool job! when the ED's say he has not even been approached yet if Louis van gaal does become DOF can you really see him and AVB working together no chance!

23 May 2012 17:47:52
If our new manager is Andre Villa Boas, i seriously hope we don't keep writing AVB, he is Villa Boas, not flipping AVB stupid press started it and we should finish it. Si

Looking at what's being said about the owners and them not telling the fans what's going on. Does anyone remember that nothing was leaked when Rafa was appointed. Fans barely knew who he was and what was going on. LFC were doing it behind closed doors. Give the owners the benefit of doubt and BELIEVE in them until they prove otherwise.

That's true I couldn't say his name right for a month..

23 May 2012 17:33:06
Hi Eds,

Just wondering how much money will be available for transfers this summer? With Warrior contributing £25 million a year, how come the papers are reporting that there will only be £30 million in the way of funds for the manager? Does that mean that the Warrior money or some of the owners money is being invested in something else? i.e. The new stadium/redeveloping Anfield plans (hopefully) ?

Cheers,
hdtv_1 {Ed019's Note - There is no 'transfer budget'}

Ed019, its a waste of time, people are convinced that there are so many millions in a safe in a dark room and that is reserved for transfers.

Sooty

Hi, Ed019 - why don't you put this at the top of the page

'{Ed019's Note - There is no 'transfer budget'}' {Ed022's Note - Because people would still ask what the budget is.}

It's a "kitty"

23 May 2012 17:31:27
Bielsa anyone, doesnt speak scouse but surely should be in with a shout regardless of age considering van gaal and capello are 'shortlisted' {Ed019's Note - He doesn't speak english yet, so he is not an option sadly}

Go to youtube and find Llorente's interview, He is asked what he thought of Biesla becoming the new Liverpool manager and he literally laughs out loud into the camera and says ''Why would he want to go there?''

23 May 2012 17:24:20
Ed's hearing alot saying that AVB has got the job have us heard anything this evening? {Ed019's Note - Nothing new}

If we are led to believe certain reports. Vilas boas & van gaal will be manager/DOF. Editor do you think there is any truth in this {Ed019's Note - No idea}

23 May 2012 17:18:12
Hi Eds and everyone!!
I'd really like your opinions on this one....If FSG name be it AVB, Martinez or Rodgers (any one of these 3), do you think that'll be justice to the LFC fans(who are expecting and deserve better than that) and to Kenny?? Are these 3 anywhere near Kenny and do you think we'll really get into top 4 with any of the 3 guys(coz I think that's why Kenny was sacked)? Your views and comments would be most welcome....thx!

does anyone else believe its a must to have a new manager before the transfer window opens?eds?macca?fellow reds?

I think the manager position needs to be sorted by the 1st of July. But no sweat that is still 5 and a half weeks away. I am sure it'll be sorted by then.

Liverpool have been terrible for the last few years how can we get a top class manager. Luis Saurez will go. Will be lucky to finish in the top 10

I love positive people supporting the team - NOT. And you are a bit wrong - we haven't been great ( or even that good ) since King Kenny walked away in 1991 leaving behind an ageing squad, giving the next manager an almost impossible task.

Your a disgrace if you call yourself a fan.

^^^^^^ balls. I will bet you £500 right now we finish in the top ten! Go and give your head a shake.

Dynamo Kiev has reportedly begun talks with Tottenham over the summer transfer of Kranjcar and Corluka. For the Croatian duo Ukrainians were reportedly willing to pay up to a 10 million pounds.
I think LFC should try to get them for that kind of money, it's a good bargain.

23 May 2012 17:16:53
For FSG's candidates tea party in Boston Billy Beane's son has devised a revolutionary computer generated analysis for coming up with a Moneyballs manager to complement the Moneyballs system (allegedly) introduced by FSG for player acquisitions. This includes giving candidates isometric tests to establish their IQ. Harry Redknapp has not surprisingly fallen at the first hurdle due to his atrocious spelling. AVB petulance for losing large items (including the dressing room) is giving FSG food for thought. FSG are very proud of their twin track approach on the stadium and are leaning towards adopting a similar approach to the appointment of a permanent manager. Martinez, AVB and Van Gall will each be given 10 games next season and the one with the best results will get the job permanently. If their results match up the appointment will be decided by a tie break designed by the legendry Billie Beane's son which will check the candidates multitasking capabilities which are vital for enabling them to smash a teacup against dressing room walls whilst at the same time dishing out hairdryer treatment. This could be a long process, may the 4th be with us. Reality Red

This really made me laugh.
Thanks

Closing quote. Classic, and should be used next season

23 May 2012 17:16:46
Dalglish should never have been sacked.
However now it has happened I'd go for Andre Villas- Boas and carry on bringing young British players into the team. All we need is a little touch of quality up front maybe go for Falcao

Does anyone ever really listen without just wanting what they want with deaf ears but look at the reality of what can happen.

Falcao is too expensive we cant afford him, thats it.

Of coarse he should have been sacked!! dreadfull waste of money n lge position. lets hope for a better lge season with a fresh start and make anfield a fortress!!

Hi Ed's

You said a few days ago that a naming rights deal had fallen through. Do you know who that business was? Also, do you know if a re-development of Anfield is more likely, and if there will be naming right's or not?

Thanks Ed's!

Burnsy {Ed001's Note - it is impossible to say, redevelopment was first choice but it is not that easy. As for the naming rights, I believe there were a couple of possible deals that fell through, one rumoured to be Standard Chartered, though I have no way of confirming or denying it.}

hey eds, do u reckon that there is a chance of dirk kuyt staying if he thinks he can get more games under a new manager? would personally love for him to stay as hes a great player, what do u think? {Ed001's Note - I expect him to wait and see.}

23 May 2012 16:24:36
Eds ..this question is specifically to you.

I've read your opinion on Marcelo Bielsa and you do hold him in high regard. But communication problem is what breaking the deal as per you.

Now, If communication is a problem between gaffer and our boys then having first team coach as an interpreter won't help?

However, I'm aware that Steve Clark is Scottish but again, he wants to leave out of loyalty towards Kenny or however one wants to put it.

So, If we promote Rodolfo Borrell to First team coach then wouldn't this will work out in getting Mr. Bielsa ?

I believe South american contingent mix well together like how suarez, maxi, lucas and pepe do. So wouldn't Bielsa as Team manager and Borrell as First Team Coach (cum Interpreter) work out?

Besides we have fair no.of south american contingent in our squad.

Now I know it'll still be a problem if he wants to discuss certain aspect of the game personally one to one with player but will that be such a put off?

Eds I really appreciate an answer on this.

Indian Kopite {Ed001's Note - that is what I would like to see myself. I think it would certainly be a way of getting round the problem and preparing Borrell to be a future manager of the club.}

I'll be astonished to know that FSG didn't give this a thought.

They are into business of sports for quite sometime and are suppose to be wiser.

I hope they had some concrete excuse to overrule this.

Indian Kopite

I believe FSG too must've evaluated this equation. They are in sports business they are suppose to be wiser.

I hope they've concrete excuse to do otherwise.

Portuguese media repeating AVB has taken the job at lfc I'm not saying its true it's just what there reporting. I really hope this is true!

I have looked at the Portuguese press. I cannot find the reference.

I've just seen it on twitter loads of people saying its reported by the Portuguese but as I said I really dunno if it's true or not so don't take this to heart just saying what I heard mate

So people are repoting that it has been reported that AVB is the new manager ?

Class, best i've heard today Kidmillions.

He was first offered the Chelsea job but insisted that the smog of london would wreak havoc on his lovely white coat, so he's making his way north.

a bit of a rant with regards to the possible naming rights of a new stadium, im sure the media are making up these stories that if Liverpool fc sell the naming rights to a new stadium it will cause trouble and unrest amongst fans. genuinely if a company e.g Air China give us 300 million quid for the naming rights to our stadium is anyone really bothered?? its not as if im gonna start saying the sentence... im going the Air China stadium to watch the match, a lot more important things to worry about. just as i believe the media are trying to cause trouble with regards to the eternal flame on the new strip, did it really cause offence? i think the eternal flames on the back with the 96 is a very nice touch and now more identifiable and significant.
the media need to sell papers just as ssn need stories to fill 24 hour hour television and because FSG do the right thing and keep business quiet, Liverpool are an easy target and speculation from the media is constant to keep causing trouble for our club, be smart and dont fall for the sh*t stirring.

Do TalkSport have some sort of grudge against us or something? They never have a good word to say about us and now they've set up a Facebook page called ''Tell FSG you sont want the Liverpool job'' This disgusts me, I dont see any other club been treated like this and not this facebook page has over 3,000 people on it just mocking us even further, Its embarrassing

Just ignore it. I do.
Iggypop

They poke fun because we are the sleeping giant. And they are nervous.

Easy, don't listen, don't go on the Facebook page.

MIKEY

The facebook page had over 9,000 now, all just laughing at our club

Nicely described we are a sleeping giant just wait till we emerge as the force we once was.

Talksh1te is exactly that. I stopped listening to that carp when I first heard that Adrian Durham (think that's his name). An absolute prize fvckwit with no knowledge of anything.

I've always had a sneaky supspicion a lot of these washed up alcoholic pundits and hacks watched their boyhood teams take a good leathering off us in the 70's and 80's. They never got over it and any excuse to twist the knife, the will.

Does anyone know if bilic is even been considered for the new manager. He fits the profile and will be available after the euro's so no compo. I think he would be a better appointment than some of the others linked with the job.

He's going to Lokomotiv Moscow after the euro's.

AVB is the new manager of liverpool

23 May 2012 16:29:01
Is it true eds capello has or will hold talks with fsg?

23 May 2012 16:27:02
AVB and LVG, OMG, PMSL LOL

Sorry this old git will need to be told what PMSL stands for

Puzzled {Ed022's Note - Puberty means silky legs.}

But what does it REALLY stand for? The aging population can't join in with the banter if we are not included in your text language

Puzzled {Ed022's Note - It means Urinate My Self Laughing. As you can tell, the youth today aren't overly bright as 'myself' is one word, however the abbreviation wouldn't work as PML apparently, so hence the random separation.}

23 May 2012 16:26:37

It looks as if holland has some promising youngsters coming through their ranks. A lot of them played in the 2nd half of the friendly vs. Munich yesterday. Wouldn't mind us going in for some of them. What does everyone think?

23 May 2012 16:05:16
Regarding the new manager its Brendan Rogers..

There is no new manager yet

It isn't

23 May 2012 16:01:42
shouldn't the fans be having a go at the owners. they are running the club into the ground. Kenny off playing golf, has a handicap of 5.

23 May 2012 15:59:07
hi eds and reds,
i know i will probably bhe killed by doing this but it is a banter sit so here it goes.
on my football manager i am lfc manager and have brought in a few players and are now challenging for the title let alone top 4. i know it is just a game and things are different in real like, but just have a look at the first team i think it would be successful inj real life too.
pepe reina
johnson agger skrtel enriue
gerrard and lucas
rsuarez ganso ramirez
huntelaar

this whole team cost me about 60-70 mill surely within the budget once we sell a few uneeded players? and i know there arestill some improvements to be made, mainlya younger cm and a better lb but the foundations are set? what do you guys think?
again this is just for banter purposes which the site was set up for.
wp

Holy Jesus juice not blowing my own trumpet Ed but i can fly a helicopter in bf3 and pretty damn good at it,does this mean i i can do it in real life?

23 May 2012 15:44:02
Im getting rather peed off with so called 'supporters' moaning about the time it has taken FSG to appoint a new manger and board of directors. On the one hand FSG are under massive pressure to get things right but on the other theyre not doing it 'quickley enough'. Get a grip, Kenny has been gone for barely a week, I think the fact that they have not appointed a DOF and manager hastily shows that they are thinking the appointments through properly. We are Liverpool Football Club, whilst other clubs may prefer to publisise their appointments and targets, we do our business behind closed doors and that has always been the way (apart from Hicks/Gillet). Yes as supporters it can be frustrating but that is only because we care so much, dont take frustrations out on those that are trying to put things right. The fact that things are being kept this quiet by the owners actually make me feel that they are the right people to take us forward 'the Liverpool way'. As for the Spirit Of Shankley, your really have disgraced yourselves this time! Who do you think you are to demand answers from the Owners? you certainly DO NOT represent me and I think the majority of supporters when you do idiotic things like this. Under the ownership of Moores, business was done the LFC way and nobody battered an eye, so why start now.

Rant over.

Jay

Well said Jay!!

They could go off and form

Spirit of Liverpool FC
They could then "RUN" their own club
Then Bully and Abuse at will

Please

Lyndon

I think the Spirit of Shankly should be banned from any website, in fact anything to do with LFC - it tarnishes the name of the GREAT MAN - he adored Liverpool fans, because of their passion and loyalty - something the SOS aren't doing to the people who saved our club from administration and total humiliation

John B

I thought they would have had a replacement in place, before KK was SACKED.

23 May 2012 15:43:32
its only been a week since KD has gone, we need to be patient. its quite funny to see papers/sports news media making up cock n bull stories as they go along because so little is coming from FSG. personally i like this approach, its proper business. yes they could have relayed their position differently than through ian ayre but they have taken the view that the less they say the better.

we need to appreciate that things take time. the fact that a complete overhaul of what has been an archaic "set up" at lfc which needs to be brought into line with how some of the other more successful clubs are operating in a highly charged commercial world.

i am sentimental like a lot of fans and i have got my knickers in a twist on more than one ocassion but now we need to take stock of what has/hasnt happened in the last 20 years. we have had glimpses of what this great club of ours used to be and can be. the football world has moved on and so should we.

we love KD, we love everything about lfc but we also need to be realistic of how far we have fallen behind others and what it will take to catch up.

so lets all be a little bit more patient. lets give the yanks a chance to get the set up right and lets not get carried away or disenchanted by lack of official news etc. it will happen in good time.

i have looked into the business models of FSG in the states in a lot of detail and believe me, it makes sense in the end. we need stability at lfc and we need it in the back rooms first and thats what FSG are doing.

i hope the DoF and managers posts are filled soon and the Dir of Comms and Commercial Dir will add further strength. Hopefully there will be news about the staidum and 3/4 signings and a belnd of youth will help our transition in the next 18 months under a young manager like AVB.

I want succcess today like everyone but i realise that for the long term future of our great club, we need to be patient and let FSG deal with this situation.

If we/ they get it wrong this time, God help lfc.

we are liverpool and we do it differently and that means being patient, doing our bix in private and always standing up for our own.

you never walk alone - ever!

Great post, well said.

23 May 2012 15:30:10
My source reckons it's only a matter of time before Andre Villas-Boas will be announced as manager and will go for Muniaín and Moutinho, Luuk De Jong will also be targeted depending on player sales such as Aquilani, Cole, Maxi, Kuyt and Charlie Adam. They'll also listen to offers for Downing and Glen Johnson and if a significant offer comes in for Skrtel they will consider it as they have replacements in mind (Howedes for example)

Muniain has said he will be staying another year at least

23 May 2012 15:22:13
I can see all the bookies out there that support Liverpool saying "jesus, this lads come and had 500 on AVB, he must know something we don't, we'd better dial in the price".

Red7.

Or he Maybe an Addicted Gambler!!

Or they could be spinning you a yarn . whats thats saying ............. one born every minute

I don't think you got it, mate.

23 May 2012 15:15:32
Get frustrated with manager situation. Bein publicly turned down by managers is embarasing what happens to behind closed doors! Personally think AVB is our man. Any more on gaston Ramirez?

Hope both of them come

23 May 2012 15:11:01
i cant seewhy we are going in for the like of rodgers or matinez , rodgers has only been in the prem for 1 season , martinez is always fighting relegation , so what makes these 2 so strong on the list , it would be going backwards if we got any of these 2 , at least AVB has european experience , i hope we dont get these 2 and that we we get someone who is right for the club and who has euro experience

23 May 2012 15:10:24
AVB will be our new manager, he has come out and said he wants to go to a stable club with a long term strategy, which is what Liverpool are offering
I'm putting all my wages on this guy

Matt

Stable club?

Really? get a grip.

Iggypop

23 May 2012 15:05:09
quick question(s) any idea the type of compensation we'll have to pay out for the likes of rogers or martinez?
Anybody?

I'm sitting here hoping against hope the old moneyball tactic of zero payout for avb comes into play

last season we didnt want to pay around 17 mill(?)
when he was porto boss. Surely the chelsea disappointment cant have changed too much? Top managers need to be special to never get it wrong at some club at least once. He did the whole avoid relegation thing with academica and we all know the porto success,so he's experienced both ends of the spectrum,some of us even think he what he was attempting to do in chelsea wasnt all bad
just seems to me,we have a terrific oppertunity to get it right

23 May 2012 15:03:33
Hi eds or macca, just a general question here. The owners have said previously that they will only consider their ownership a success if we win the title and become a force again in Europe. With the way things are at the minute, do you think this is a realistic goal? And if so, how long will we have 2 wait before the "glory days" return? Just looking for your opinions, thanks.

Red90

5 years minimum

Not an EDward here

But think about it.

Can we compete with UTD, City and Chelsea on monetary terms?

We wont win the title any time soon when city are buying who ever they want and with the little funds we have

And how many times did we lose to them last season? its the so called lesser teams we need to win against consistently.

IBIMO

23 May 2012 14:49:36
I think Ed knows as much as we all "Fans" do this time around on the manager front. {Ed002's Note - From my standpoint, all I know is regarding the tentative approach to Benitez and the expected approach to AVB as of Friday morning. If I find out anything else, I will let you know.}

23 May 2012 14:48:29
Agree - Roberto Martinez
Disagree - Andre Villas-Boas

Which would you prefer and why?

BthekingB

Neither of those 2.

Rafa for me - every day of the week

Van Gaal for me. reason is Experiance. he can bring the top player.

I would take AVB with cara assistant manager and Louis van gala as dof

Van Gaal, too old to be manager, DOF maybe.

Sooty

23 May 2012 14:47:11
i would rather the owners took their time and get the right person as manager , instead of rushing the interviews and getting the wrong manager , from what i am reading they are shaking a lot of thing up , and to me it look like a good idea , i still want AVB as our manager because he is young and will have up to date tactics and will know all the up and coming players from around the world , and maybe with him in charge we will get a few very good portugese players , he has learned his trade under the special one , he never had a chance at chelsea with the like of terry , lampard , and cole and a few others , but no matter who we get in as manager the owners will have the club at their heart , and the likes of brenden rodgers and martinez , are smoke screens to throw the press off , wich is good in away because it gives them a chance to interview the proper ones without the press sticking their noses in , i think last season they did it the fans way and ran with it , this time they are doing it their way a way that has gave them the best in the past

23 May 2012 14:45:56
Apparently ed(?) spurs are looking to tie up damiao, ganso adebayor, vertonghan, hoilett and possibly two argentinian youngsters? another team seemingly moving quickly? talking to garry mabbutt he was saying that he had at the time a medical and discussions with lfc but when spurs came back with a new contract his mind had been made! did you know he had had talks with lfc? {Ed002's Note - No.}

23 May 2012 14:43:01
However concerned you might be about the new manager and sporting director with all the candidates being touted around, it could be a lot worse.

Van Gaal & Benitez - would make Chisora Vs Haye look like a pre-season friendly

Toshack & Keegan – A sentimental manic depressive partnership

Allardyce & AVB – A contrast in styles

Redknapp & Redknapp – A family club

Souness & Anyone – I'd join SOS

travellingmike

Allardyce???? 'you cannot be serious' as one famous American would say.

My fren told me about this site. Gud info you got here Eds. Im interested to know,
-if Vaan gal will be new manager, can u see david dean as our DoF? Vaan gal got gud tactics as well like Rafa. Suitable to be manager.
-winger trget is g.ramirez, belhanda..other than this?
-Have lfc look into Nigel d jong to fill in masherano's place to play beside Lucas nxt season? Or Banega..
-Why Coates dont play much this season. The early we put him in 1st eleven, will benefit him nxt season. So we dunt hav to buy another one.
-How much money we can get frm selling Kuyt n Maxi.?

Exciting times for Liverpool!

You've put in a bid for Lucas Moura, another one for Edin Hazard, you're interested in Cavani, Lavezzi, Higuain, Falcao, Van Der Wiel and some others. You've got the Community Shield and the Super Cup to look forward too before the season even starts! You play in the Champions League next season, and you play in the World Club Championship! And you go into next season with the hope of winning the league, whilst defending the FA Cup! You lot must be so excited!

Wait a second.......

Fair enough have banter with your mates but what sad person comes on a website to say that? GET A LIFE! Also I will laugh so much if Chelsea lose their luck because let's face it they won the fa cup and champions league down to pure luck

Will you be as unimaginative with your banners for the signings like you were with Torres in front of the Shankly gates. Like Hazard in a Lille kit or something

There were 5 teams above you in the EPL - not so great eh?

Chelsea have hope of winning the league? Are the other 19clubs not playing in the premier league next year or something?

Hi Eds,

Do you think if AVB does sign for us, he will have certain conditions like he needs to be allowed a handsome transfer budget for the first couple of years?
Come on if top 4 is a must and City,Chelsea and Utd will spend. How can we compete without a handsome kitty?

Hi Eds and Macca

I have a few questions:

Are LFC going to be a football club next year?
Am i going to get that promotion at work?
Whats the fastest land mammal?
Is there life after football?

Answer me. tell us the future. we need to know.

Regards,

Joff

Answers.

Yes - Possibly above mid table in 5th position.

Not Sure - If you put in the hours and suck up to the boss the chances of that promotion are greatly increased.

The Cheetah

Yes - As an example i would mention Eric Cantona who has forged a nice carrer for himself in the acting business.

Hope these anwers help you on your quest.

I wish all these LFC fans will take a break and stop having a go at FSG.

If you want to have a go at the way they are handling things then go and see your bank manager and draw out £500 million and buy the club, then you can do what you want.

In my opinion LFC have been drifting for way too long and needed a massive clear out including the sacking of KD, great guy but poor manager who thinks that the carling cup is a good season, that shows how out of date he was!.

I see no reason why FSG should tell people what they are doing, thy have every right to conclude all their business deals in private and once all completed explain why they have done what thy have done.

Now let them get on with it and let them restructure our great club again.

got chatting to a dutch lad on holiday last year it was just after loiue van gaal got bayern to the prem.this lad was a ajax youth coach.we were talkin about jose mouhrino relationships with his players,they all love him that why they play for him.an to my surprise he said van gaal is like that as well,he gives the press loads of agro to take the pressure off his players before a big game.he couldnt sing his praisers enough.he knew his stuff this lad he kept raveing about a player called luis saurez said hes as good as anything to come out ajax.i hope paddy power pay me out on luis van gaal cause i put a tenner on him at 33/1 last week for manager but not dof doh.

Even KK stood by his players. Perhaps a bit too much at times aswell. I hope the AVB-Van gaal partnership happens...just dont want martinez.

I ment he got them to champions league final .

Afternoon all/eds

Found your site about 18 months ago.
I am a life long Liverpool supporter and I am as nervous yet excited at what fsg are doing for the future.
Please all people posting crap about New mangers in next few hours stop and wait patiently, the behind closed doors Liverpool way is being conducted and we will know when they have summit to tell us, I so not think they wil put club and future at risk, they will do what they think is going to take us back to CL and Pl challenges.
Come on guys YNWA is what we scream week in week out from terraces and do it no matter who is selected as DOF and manager.
We are the mighty reds and we are strong when we are as one, remember that from the great euro night's when we have destroyed teams from terraces behind our boys.
Long live the king he will always be a legend, but no one man makes Liverpool, its all of us
Hope my first post makes the page and would like to thanks EDS for their continued support and info they try and get us dedicated scousers.

Let's be positive and all drive towards the bright new future FSG are trying so hard to deliver

AnfieldForum.com claiming that the new LFC manager will be named by 6pm Friday. There is no mention of a source or who t might be but they were right on predicting when Kenny Dalglish would go. Has anyone else heard anything to back up these claims?

Lots of reports about Van Gaal but the following concrens me, Ed's why didnt they want him as there are a feww big names there.

A Dutch court has prevented Louis van Gaal from being named as the CEO at Ajax after ruling in favor of Johan Cruyff yesterday.

Van Gaal had been named as a director by four members of the club's board - Edgar Davids, Steven ten Have, Paul Romer and Marjan Olfers - last November.

However, Cruyff, who is also part of the board, said the quartet had kept him in the dark when they appointed Van Gaal - a long time rival of the Netherlands great.

The Amsterdam court ruled that the naming of Van Gaal was not on the agenda for the board meeting and therefore Cruyff, who was absent, could not have known the importance of the event.

Cruyff was joined by a dozen youth coaches including Dennis Bergkamp, Jaap Stam, Ronald de Boer and Wim Jonk in protesting the appointment of former Bayern Munich coach Van Gaal, who won the European Cup with Ajax in 1995.

An Ajax shareholders meeting will take place on Feb. 10 when the board will be brought to task. {Ed002's Note - Why does what has been dragging on at Ajax for about a year concern you? I would not let it worry you.}

would love to know how everyone seems to know how fsg think and how they are conducting the search! they are famous for having no links to the press

They have their own news channel for gods sake, they are the media

Quick question eds, how much are the owners willing to pay out again this summer? Surely it won't be as much as previous summers, but doesn't this mean a disappointing season again?

The-lad-not-in-the-know {Ed002's Note - No idea on specifics but I am sure they will be supportive.}

23 May 2012 13:32:47
Ed's are we any closer to the new manger and DoF posistion ? just seems alot of names thrown about, AVB never out the top two of favourites to take over but has not even had an interview

23 May 2012 13:16:33
what a shame we are all takling abt a knew coach.
we should be talking abt a new winger and striker.and the midfielder that we desperatly need.
its tough being in love with LFC.she looks great smells good the only complain i have is the hole house is a mess.

Question for the Eds/Macca,
With Ayre coming out and saying that we are 'some way down the line' with regards to getting big name brands on board for the naming rights of the stadium, who are these brands and what stadium option (develop or new-build) does this hint at? It all still seems confused to me!

It's full of manager talk on here. My opinion ed's and red's.......... Should of just kept Kenny for another season.
He won a trophy, ok, not the greatest trophy but the first trophy for a long time.
This season the likes of Henderson would of improved, all the hype around Suarez would of cooled off and he would of improved scoring ratio and we all saw how well Carroll was doing toward the end of the season.
Also Lucas would be back and i think Kenny knew the area's that needed improving.
Honestly think if Kenny was given another season it would of been a decent one.
Just my opinion, now everyone is talking crap about get this manager, get that manager, the owners are annoying me with the list of candidates, publicly approaching managers and some of them even refusing to speak to them! Laughing stock!
Easy, keep the king for another season let the players improve, Kenny would of bought a couple more players to improve the area's that needed improving and I think another trophy and a stronger challenge to the top 4 would have happened this season.
Now i can see another manager coming in (probably foreign) having new idea's, ANOTHER different system, ANOTHER way of training, different tactics and it's back to square one! Probably another season of top 8 and a good cup run untill the manager settles and the players get used to him!
Anyone agree??
John

Let it go. Dalglish has gone and we need to concentrate on supporting the new manager - whoever he is!

Hi All

Not a rumour, just need clarification: LFC has won the carling cup & have to go through the qualifying stages for the Europa league. Had they won the FA cup then they would have had automatic qualification to the group stages.

Now that Chelsea has won the FA cup & champions league, what will happen to the automatic spot won by them for the Europa? Will LFC get it & Cardiff have to qualify for Europa or will an additional league spot will get it?

Thanks

The automatic group stages spot goes to Tottenham in 4th and we still go in at the 3rd round of the group stages.

We now go into the group stage

We will have to get past 2 round to get into the group stage. The draw for the third round is on the 20th of July with the two legs taking place on 2nd & 9th of August. The draw for the playoffs will then be made on the 10th August with the two legs on 23rd & 30th of August.

If the rumours are true about Baines, fergie purple nose putting bids in for him, if Everton make him available, why don't we bid for him?
Heard he was a red growing up, he would probably prefer to stay in Liverpool and play for his boyhood team.
One of the best left backs in the country, him and Kelly as full backs would be great

So all of a sudden enrique is benched?

Puzzled

He'd jump at the chance but he doesn't want all the crap the bitters would throw at him

A good point. However We still don't have a manager or Sporting director. I'll worry about these before I get carried away on players just yet.

I like Enrique, we should give him a go under the new boss.

Why would he go a weaker team

Fenway where meant to bring stability to the club. I can't see how sacking everyone left right and center is going to bring stability to any club.

The teams looks like a mess, the coaching is all up in the air, scouting targets have been put on hold. No one is at the helm.

Kenny didn't need the money, didn't need the head ache,. Does anyone know if Kenny signed a contract with FENWAY. I know he is on £4m a year, but was it a one year contract.

Imagine the new set-up they are putting in place will be to obtain the stability you desire.
Let them go about their business.
They seem to know what they are doing.
It's their money and they can do what they want with it.

More uncluttering than "sacking everyone".
Sometimes to bring stability you need to have a bit of a clearout and hire people who can bring that stability, we've obviously struggled for any kind of consistency on AND off the pitch, and an overhaul may be what we need.
I was against Kenny being turfed, but if it's to set up a long term plan then by all means, go for it.
So long as all this hiring and firing is to employ the right people to see this much needed stability injected into the club, then it has to be for the best. I only hope i'm right...

I am fully aware of this being a rumour site but it seems that some people get compulsive urges just write a load of s**t. Reading one statement that completely contradicts the other is becoming the fashion. Also it seems like alot of idiots get very excited when thier friends fill there head full of false sightings and information, i am sick to death of reading "AVB to sign today" everyday. Youve got more chance finding rocking horse s**t than the majority of the rumours displayed being true! In my opinion there will be no signings until a manager is secured. Each manager has different targets in mind and the bigger the manager the bigger the signings so theres no need to keep rabbiting on about who liverpool will sign, especially when it involves the likes of hulk, falcoa and hazard. Do you really think if liverpool end up with Martinez or rodgers that calibre of players will be attracted to the club. Also there are a lot of discussions about players like Adam Johnson, Fernando Torres, Emile Heskey, Micheal Owen, Jermaine Defoe etc joning the club, theres areason these players dont get games. Open your f*****g eyes, Joe cole for example. A club like liverpool should be attracting big names and winning prestigous titles but until a manager is appointed and signings are made i am afraid to say thier leugue and competition performance will remain medioka.

Bang on mate apart from adam johnson !

was just wondering people's views on this - if we get louis van gaal involved in any way at liverpool, is their any chance we could tempt Mario Gomez to join us. We was linked with him when van gaal was manager there. he is only 26 - 40+goals a season, van gaal likes Gomez as a player

This stadium issue is annoying me so much more than the manager issue.i can't understand why after 18 months they still cant decide whether to redevelop anfield or build a new stadium.me personally would like a new 65k-80k stadium,I think the owners will turn out just like the Americans before them.

I think you are being unfair. They probably want to tedevelop Anfield to 60k+ but the Council want a new stadium and full regeneration of the whole area. Hence a stalemate, if we need money for transfers then we can't spend 300k+ on a new stadium as well but we can't develop Anfield as the Council can veto that to try and force a new build through with all the economic regeneration they would like to boot.
A chess like impasse ensues and hence the limbo we are in.
ALB.

Wow build a stadium for 3 times less than what kuyt is worth. Would be really impressed if they could that.

Some people are such hypocrites.

When Capello left England it took the English FA weeks before they found a replacement (Woy) yet we are asking for a snap of the fingers and POW! manager appears from nowhere?

PLEASE... it's called DUE PROCESS

And if FSG want to conduct their interviews away from LFC thats their business. I would think it would only be sensible and take away a lot of prying eyes and BS by the rumour mills and "experts".

Yeah but it's been managed badly. We need to manage the media not the other way around. That's why Cotton was sacked.

It hasn't been managed badly.
They started the process after the season ended and before the new one begins.
Also, I'd rather they take their time and get the next decision right rather than appointing someone the fans "demand" or the media thinks would be good.
Let them put everything in placer and see how it plays out.
You could be pleasantly surprised.

Capello left, which means there was no "plan B".

Kenny was punted, so you'd like to think at the very least they had a few names in mind.

They do, have you not been paying attention?

things id look for in a manager:
1-experience at top level clubs
2-speaks english
3-can handle media
4-prem experience
5-man management
6-tactical awareness
7-age

candidates via the media:
martinez-2,3,4,7,5
capello-1,2,3,5,6
rodgers-2,3,4,5,6,7
rafa benitez1,2,3,4,6,7
louis van gaal-1,2,3,5,6
avb-1,2,3,4,6,7

so going by my criteria and the managers list of most linked the best bet for me would be rodgers.i know he doesnt want to talk but if the owners tell him they want him i reckon he could go.his only downfall is lac of top club exp.DORSET RED

Since when did capello start talking english?

Avb and 3 don't really match

Van Gaal gets a 5?

Good Afternoon Ed`s & fellow reds.

A quick question if I may...
I`ve heard that Mr van Gaal is a bit of a loose cannon, or as some reports i`ve read refer to him as `mad man`!
Would you concur with this opinion? or is it just conjecture etc... ?
I know he had a fall out with Rivaldo at Barca, but that`s all I can find out.

Thanks
Matty p {Ed001's Note - not so much a mad man, more of a complete dictator, everything has to be done his way and he will bicker and fight with anyone and everyone.}

Thanks For the response, pretty much rules Rafa out of the equation if he was hired then!

Matty p

Well he'd be a perfect foil for Benitez then would'nt he.

Why are there so many rumours and people with 'a good or credible source who's neveer been wrong before', posting about who we're going to be signing this summer? Until a new manager is in place, we will make NO signings. So until then, there isn't a post on here about a player we will sign that can be deemed believeable. Let's just sit tight, and see who FSG appoint, and make judgments then.

To Macca,

I also suprisingly put a bet a bet on Jurgen Klopp as a fellow poster on here, and placed my money in your good judgement and sources. I bet 5000 Pounds, don't suppose i can get a reund aswell? ... :-)

Anyways enough with the tomfoolleries, Macca unlike other poster here i truelly believe you do have real sources from the club and would like to know, do you honstly think the club's board are looking to offload Luis Suarez? Because I it was the case, I would be shocked, because despite the rascism incident, he's been our most exciting players, and let's all be honest, the only reason neutural football fans may sometimes watch Liverpool matchs are to get a glimpse at Suarez's brilliance? I only want to know if FSG are pushing Suarez out, not Suarez wanting to leave, because you couldn't possibly know what's going in on in his life :) If it were the case, wouldn't Man City board sell Balloteli? Wouldn't of Chelsea sold Terry? Man Udt sell Ronney? I hope to get a response, thank you Macca/Eds :)

hi ed is it not logical that this has been very well timed with regards to the window been open next month i believe henry and werner planned this methodicaly new manager and new sporting director at the the start of the transfer window by the end of this month so we are not missing out on the transfer market i then believe the two new guys will sit down and see who they want in the squad and who is surplus to requirements and start a fresh for the new season.So why all the histeria lets not rush in so what if some managers have said no because they have other commitments thats fine then there not for us .the manager will only be as good as the players he brings in and how much he can lift there spirits unfortunatly kenny no matter what he tried he was let down by players ie carrol terrible return of goals spearing giving the ball away to many times and downing not performing like a 20 mil player adam looked tired and couldnt score a penalty injured lucas massive loss kenny had an uphill struggle which was down to bad signings .take your time and do your research henry and werner this needs to be our turning point for all our sakes ynwa ever.

A question for macca the eds or redalarm who the little bits i knew and what he has said i would say is genuine. has AVB actually accepted now? or his he waiting til van gaal is in place were i get my info from is no one really major n i wouldnt post unless i was sure made that mistake with my first post i ask more for clarification now. anyway he seems to think it was between van gaal laudrup who can now both be ruled out so that leaves avb martinez and he still wont discount rogers is the manager likely to come frome these 3 with avb being the original plan? cheers CRAIG {Ed001's Note - I am not aware of anyone actually being offered the job yet.}

Private equity investors provide a source of investment capital and the private equity comes from high net worth individuals or groups with the purpose of investing equity in the hope of acquiring greater equity in the near future. An example would be the American sports investment company Fenway Sports Group, who, in 2010, took over Liverpool FC for £300m, and also own Boston Red Sox. The other, opposing, sources of investment mentioned in the question are corporate investors. A corporate investor is a company that invests in, predominantly through shares, and acquires control of other companies; for example, most takeovers are examples of corporate investment. An example of a corporate investor would be Markus Liebherr, who through his Mali Group and holding company, DMWSL 613 Limited, has invested into 6 different businesses; most recently, Southampton Football Club.

Liverpool F.C.'s acquisition by Fenway Sports Group, an example of private equity investment, promised much when it first occurred in 2010: "we want to create a long-term financially solid foundation for Liverpool Football Club and are dedicated to ensuring that the club has the resources to build for the future, including the removal of all acquisition debts." However, their financial motives, which would, from the business's point of view, make them a larger return within seven years of purchase through selling on, have superposed long-term growth and instead instant success has been attempted to be achieved, with £110m being spent on 8 high-profile employees who have failed to deliver the immediate success Fenway Sports Group wished the investment would do so.

This is potentially partly down to a culture clash between the traditional management of Liverpool Football Club and the ideologies of Fenway Sports Group in regards to management. Fenway, who also own Boston Red Sox, base their employment criteria on quantitative scientific data, such as measurements of productivity and output (such as sporting stats like "chance creation" in their purchase of Stewart Downing and "key passes" in the purchase of Charlie Adam); a philosophy based on the statistical analysis incorporated in Baseball. The culture in regards to management at Liverpool FC, or English football in general, has a long history of extensive scouting and subjective analysis, rather than statistical interpretation, and a boot-room philsophy.

Clearly, the failure to achieve success, other than the Carling Cup win, finishing 8th place, their worst league finish in 18 years, is much down to short-sightedness, encouraged by the financial motives of the private equity investors. Further weight is added to my argument that private equity investors' sole interest in financial motives is detrimental to businesses and therefore they are not "significantly more likely to succeed," is given by Fenway Sport Group's recent firing of Kenny Dalglish, which will mean Liverpool would have had three managers in under three years since the takeover. Further strain is put on Liverpool, as Fenway Sports Group is in America and thus the management team at Liverpool are regularly required to commute to USA for board meetings. Ultimately, private equity investors are often too short-sighted and this will hinder the success of the business taken over, irrelevant of their motives. As amateur economist Jasper Evans puts it, "long distance ownership can be a factor in the negavelopment of a football side."

On the other hand, corporate investors are much more likely to be in it for the long haul and thus their motives branch much further out than simply financial motives, which would appease shareholders at least, into other motives such as corporate social responsibility, strong organisational culture and structure and sustained long-term growth: motives that are potentially much better for the business as a whole as the majority of stakeholders will thus benefit, not just those that are beneficiaries of financial motives.

For example, when Markus Liebherr took over Southampton Football Club through his holding company DMWSL 613 Limited, he stated, "I believe we have a superb opportunity to rebuild this great Club. Clearly, this will require resources, planning, hard work and patience. We will assemble a strong management team at every level of the Club. We will act rapidly, but also plan for the long term, because I am here for the long term." This short statement highlights all the positives and strengths of corporate investment over private equity, namely a long-term commitment, financial investment and "strong management," an essential component of a successful business.

Unlike private equity investment, where stakeholders may feel as if the business is purely having its profits squeezed for the benefit of a short term investor looking to make a fast buck, corporate investment, as illustrated by Markus Liebherr, puts financial motives no higher than any other. In fact, investment in the case of point goes to prove that having "only" financial motives does not make it more likely that the business will succeed.

To expand, Southampton F.C. were acquired for £15m and since then more money has been invested into the club's long term future – rather than the short term future, as was the case with Fenway Sports Group at Liverpool. A further £15m was spent on improving Southampton F.C.'s training facilities, 93% of a £16.4m turnover was invested back into the club in the form of wages and a further £14m was paid into a capital contribution reserve by the corporate investor.

The various forms of investment from the corporate investor goes to show how the club's long term interest is of sole priority and interest to the investor and the likelihood of success was further increased in early 2012 when Southampton had £33m of loans invested in the club by the corporate investor, Liebherr, converted into shares, removing it as a liability. This leaves Southampton F.C. with no debt, unlike Liverpool F.C, as, like many private equity investors, Fenway Sports Group financed the takeover using significant amounts of debt.

The leveraged buyout was alluded to in the new Liverpool owner John W. Henry's press release, "we are dedicated to ensuring the removal of all acquisition debt." Although The Gurdian's David Conn, points to Henry clearing Liverpool's £200m debt left by the previous owners, Fenway have organised a £120m facility to borrow money from banks. Another sure sign of financial motives being at the forefront of all decisions.

It has been three years this summer since Markus Liebherr took over Southampton F.C. and so far success has been achieved, financially and materialistically in each year, with Southampton winning one domestic trophy and securing back-to-back promotions to the Premier League, where annual revenue is guaranteed to increase by at least £47m, through TV revenue streams. Although Markus Liebherr passed away in 2010, chief financial officer at Southampton F.C. Gareth Rogers stated that "nothing has changed operationally or strategically," and thus Southampton have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy success, due to the corporate investor having more motives than purely financial gain, demonstrated by the legacy he has left at the club.

Ultimately, whilst only having financial motives is essentially what business is about according to Milton Friedman, "the business of business is business," it neglects many other factors that determine success and as the financial motive and private equity investors are synonymous with each other, it leads to the case that private equity investors are not in fact significantly more likely to succeed than corporate investors. By purely having financial motives, important factors such as culture and structure suffer or are jeopardised and this is potentially more damaging to the business in the long run, than any financial success in the short-run.

Corporate investment rarely runs the risk of this as the takeover is not a "leveraged buyout" and therefore it has a very real cost to the purchasing company if it doesn't pay off and thus they work hard to ensure an environment in which success is likely is created. This encourages more motives than just financial to be targeted and this often leads to focus on the whole, rather than purely the part (financial gain), and a classic example of this outside of football is the takeover of Pixar by Disney.

Disney purchased Pixar and invested heavily in their ideologies and their "creative culture" and thus, in the long-run they have benefitted. For Pixar success has been huge, with its corporate investors Disney lending their expertise in advertising, marketing and merchandising. For Disney, a willingness to address more motives than purely financial has resulted in increased revenues, larger profit margins and an increase in the rate of production of films, and therefore success has been achieved. Ultimately, what will determine the likelihood of success is not the form of investment as such, but how the investor sees their investment: as a short term project, which often leads to failure, or a long term project, which is more synonymous with success.

That just about sums it up really

{Ed001's Note - except he has not taken any account of the number of youth players that have been brought to the club, which show signs of a longer term planning.}

The 110m invested doesn't take into account the money received for Torres and co. 30m was invested - not a huge short term strategy. There have been plenty of verbal commitments to stadium plans......or will they delay for 7 years and sell up? The article doesn't really sound like Fenway tbh

Good post Ozone. No doubt people will disagree, but Liverpool are the heading the same way as Aston Villa.

Ed, is the new manager almost guaranteed to be Martinez or AVB, or do you think that there's still the option of someone else? {Ed001's Note - I don't believe they have made their decision yet. Until they do, there will always be a chance of someone else. I really have no idea who will end up taking the job though.}

All the fans are too impatient. If FSG could do it asap they would, so stop complainin and support our club instead of looking at the history.

23 May 2012 11:20:48
Hey ed who would you like to be next Liverpool manager and why
Ta
Mod 69 {Ed001's Note - Marcelo Bielsa, because I think he is the best coach in the world and his teams play fantastic football. He is also not afraid to suit his tactics to the players he has available, if need be. He is not one of those coaches who has to play a particular system or formation, he will look at what he has and then set his teams up accordingly.}

Ed do you think we are interested in the manager you said? And do you think he would come to us?

Cheers Pauric {Ed001's Note - no and unlikely. I wish we were though, but his lack of English is a deal breaker for FSG, they rejected Pellegrini for the same reason before he ended up at Malaga.}

Eds

Anybody else feel that this Director of Football role does not work in England and is a big mistake by FSG ? Clubs in england have been successful without it and not only that this role seems to undermine the manager big time and often leads to conflict betwwen DOF and manager. everybody wants to see these 2 positions filled ASAP but don't realise that they could be at each others throats in matter of weeks.

regardless of who is appointed just worried that there are more troubled waters in store for next season.

any thoughts?

LD {Ed001's Note - I really think it depends on the club's set up. There is no reason why it wouldn't work here.}

I agree if you look at the past winner of the EPL they don't have a DOF I feel this is FSG's way of trying to change things that don't need to be changed. We don't need a DOF and a manger we just need the right Manager {Ed002's Note - Chelsea do.}

23 May 2012 11:11:04
I think everyone is getting their knickers in a twist over which manager we should have, i do not think it should be a big name necessarily, look what has happened in the past at other clubs

Scolaria Chelsea
Rafa Inter
Big Sam Newcastle
Klinnsman Bayern
etc.

successes

Pardew - Newcastle
Gaurdiola - Barca (youth team coach first)
Klopp - Dortmund etc
Rafa - Valencia

I think sometimes you need to choose the right manager who will have the right backroom staff, thats why i think Martinez, Laudrap or AVB would be best as they can shape the team/club into what they want. These mangers will have a long term plan as taking Liverpool FC back to the top will take at least 3 - 4 years.

1001 FOOTBALL

Everton's Jake Bidwell replaces Liverpool's Andre Wisdom in the England Under-19 squad for Friday's European Championship elite qualifying round tie with Slovenia at Deepdale.

(BBC Sports)

Sorry Ed(s), how has Jake managed to replace Wisdom? Isnt Wisdom a top centre half who's touted to be one for the future? Is it because hes injured or been promoted to Under-21?? Cheers

we say we ad a good season with the carling cup but come on the teams which should be playing for that are teams from championship and league 1 and 2, we can't be challenging for them cups, we need champion league i was watching the champion league the other night i'm so disappointed that liver not there we the biggest team in england we can't even get top 6, get the manager in now and buy some players we looking sick, everyone just hope the owners will give us the money to spend, and if suarez does leave people say that is it, its not though because we ad fernando still gutted hes gone but its the past we replace fernando with suarez whats stopping us of replacing suarez, i hope he don't go though why don't suarez do us a favor or something and TEXT cavani put a word in for us like AHAHA and diego forlan and the Uruguay team ahaha, we need players why don't liver go for forlan and players like that i know he's getting on now but hes still a world class player he ran the 2010worldcup he be mega cheap he can't get in the inter team either be ideal with suarez and del perio from juventus he said he wants to play in england before his career over he can get him for 1million be good if we get them for a season in till the retire they attract big superstars.

You most definitely will not be getting the Liverpool job, your English is shocking !

What are your thoughts on this - Ed or Macca?
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I like the idea, just not sure on the personnel.}

I'm with Ed01 on Van Gaal. He's a lot of trouble. Most Bayern fans think he nearly destroyed their club. I spend half my working time in Germany and I watched two years of constant fights with the management hierarchy and the players. His first season he wound up winning the league and reaching the CL final. Most people still wanted to sack him.

this managing job gone on for long enough we all know martinez going to get it and liverpool are going to go backwards just hope we don't end up like Leeds and derby county and Nottingham forest.
i will be disappointed if he does get it mostly every other lfc fan mps thinks the same as me we need big managing name to get us back now because know one will come because we got nothing to offer to the players like champion league or nothing we need a top manager to get us back now if not SUAREZ will be gone with the like or SKRTEL and AGGER to, get the manager in now and get in that transfer market fast because all the big clubs snapping up all the big players the only players be left is kevin doyle matt javis we can't have them players mun we need players which would suit suarez and gerrard only good players we got and reina.

So according to you, Lucas, Enrique, Agger, Skrtel and Carrol are all crap and not good enough?
What a crap post, i want my 1.5 minutes of life back i wasted reading that. Im glad you're not picking our manager anyway.

Ed001, what's your opinion of Louis Van Gaal becoming our DoF?

There's no doubting his experience and quality as a manager. But I've heard that he is very single-minded, thereby hard to work with..?

Cheers,

Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - I am not convinced he is the right choice. His style of football is mostly based on hard running, rather than quick passing.}

Sorry to challenge your opinion ed001 to be fair Liverpool's most successful teams late 70's early 80's were all 'machine like' based on hard running and team work, Dalglish's late 80's side was the first free flowing attacking side we had, so arguments can be made for both styles of football, Houllier's side was one of the worst footballing sides i can remember but it was fairly successful, so fans need to decide what they want, look good and lose or look bad and win? if Van Gaal comes in and the team is winning with power based football i dont think many fans would be too bothered, Arsenal play the best football in the league and have not won anything for god knows how long now!
cobra {Ed001's Note - I understand what you are saying, though I dispute that Arsenal play the best football these days. My issues with Van Gaal are a lot more than the style of football he chooses to play, even though it is nothing like the old Liverpool style you so wrongly attributed to being about power based football. The old Liverpool style was about possession, to pass it about and tire out the opposition, before ripping them to shreds towards the end of the match. Hard work and team work were very important, but not like Van Gaal's teams, they are not like that at all.}

I have to agree with Ed001. The Liverpool sides pre-Dalglish were alll about possesion. get it, keep it. The philosophy was 'if we've got the ball, they can't score'. I can't begin to tell you hopw many games I watched back then where for 80 minutes all we did was role the ball around across the back four, move forward a bit, drop back a lot, pass sideways. Sometimes stringing 40 passes together before the opposition even got a look in, usually by committing a foul, resulting in us stringing another 40 passes toegther. What Liverpool were masters of in the 70's and 80's was totally destroying a game. RED LENIN

one thing i'll say about Martinez is that he remains so calm and doesn't let the stress get to him in relegatin battles. if he can handle that stress at least we know he can handle going for top 4.

Just came across this link showing why AVB would be suited to Liverpool and a detailed explanation of why it didn't work out at Chelsea, found it an interesting read so thought I would post for those who are interested!

Big Mike {Ed001's Note - you haven't put the link in!}

The link would be quite helpful.

Numb skull, i want that link, give it to me.

If anybody had got a spare 5 minutes, go to the UK MSN website where there is a new article titled "Why would anybody want to manage Liverpool FC", accompanied by "they're not what they used to be".

Print it off, tear it into suitably sized strips, and then use it for toilet paper.

Thanks for reading.

Adam

Lol, if only I had a printer! and an immediate urge for the potty!

ed do you know if we do make space to redevelop Anfield to 60,000, would there be any space to develop it beyond that in the future? if not then we'll just be in the same position in a couple of years.. {Ed001's Note - there is no issue with space, it is the infrastructure that would be the main issue. Space just comes down to buying more of the houses, which can take time, but can be done.}

Ed what do you mean the infrastructure would be the man problem ? tanx

majestic69 {Ed001's Note - because the infrastructure in place currently is incapable of coping with increased numbers of people.}

my source has told me this..my source has told me that...some of you out there need to lay off the lsd..coz when the tommy ketchup and the branston fruity r passing on manger info for lfc it's time to c a shrink....even i can say i have couple of sources ..1 as just told me avb will be manager by saturday...the other has just told me avb wont be the manager...either way i was right...stop trying to me macca i no is info is not always spot on but it has more street cred than most ....dave d

Macca, you mentioned a while back that LFC looking to stay at Anfield & renovate. Any idea of what they will look to do?
I'm thinking demolition of the Paddock & rebuilding it to a 2/3 tier stand.

obv van gaal a gr8 choice!!!!! philosphies of ajax barca n bayern , clubs that play the best ball ever seen
, total football
5 gold stars {Ed001's Note - he doesn't have that philosophy at all. That was Cruyff who sorted Ajax and Barca.}

23 May 2012 10:05:55
Van Gaal as DOF and Carragher as manager/coach

Too early for Carragher yet. He needs time to ease in.

Van Gaal with Marco Van Basten.

Why would we Carra as manager? Great defender and legend, but every time he gets the ball he hoofs it up the field!!

23 May 2012 10:01:20
edd do u reckon avb will be a good choice as in he brings through youth?/ he did it at porto , and tried to get rid of the old guard at chelsea, maybe he suits fsg in that respect. plus with the likes of sterling suso texeirea etc may get some chances
5gold stars {Ed001's Note - no, I don't think AVB would be a good choice, he upset the old guard at Chelsea because he treated a number of the younger players badly.}

Ed001 who don't upset chelsea's so call old player? anceloti, Abv and the next one will be in problem for sure too. {Ed001's Note - it was the reason that he upset them that bothers me. He didn't deal well with the younger players, which caused friction, a number of the older players were actually sticking up for them.}

Any specifics Ed001/2? I read that there was a particular clash with Lukaku.... my concern would be that the clash with youngsters would be due to AVBs lack of maturity or age, perhaps he was trying to assert his dominance....

Richards {Ed002's Note - Not so much a "clash" but a lack of contact.}

23 May 2012 09:57:46
Eds are our owners are too senstive to select a manager or all the owners are of this kind?

As we know owners does not know too much about football then who is helping them.

I hope owners will not use moneyball in selecting manager?

Will we see some transfer activity these days or it will after euro ?

INDIAN LIVERBIRD {Ed001's Note - there is no such thing as moneyball, just get it out of your head, it is irrelevant. The owners are just trying to get the right people for all the roles they need to fill. It is not as easy as just selecting a manager, they have to select a manager and DoF (or Sporting Director or whatever the role is to be called) that can work together well and share the same vision.}

"can work together well and share the same vision".. what happens to the vision created by Borrell and Segura? New or is their philosophy rolled out (doubt it)?

Richards

If only it was Borrell and Segura....If Van Gaal does end up coming in I fear we would have a conformist manager. I just don't like the idea of a DOF or whatever it is now.

23 May 2012 09:29:20
Hey eds woke up this morning to the news of van gaal because of his age do you think the owners would only offer him dof job or do you think he's got a fair chance of getting the managers job his cv is fantasic Spain Holland Germany major honours won in all 3 but at the same time I've read he falls out with people very easy would this also go against him

Thanx lads and lasses keep up the great work

Ramythered07 {Ed001's Note - I think he is wanted over the manager, not to be the manager. My worry is his track record, while excellent, also features numerous falling outs with others. I am not sure he is the answer.}

Helo fellow Reds. First time post so please be patient with me.

I have, like the rest of you, been watching the press over the past few weeks hoping for news on our new Manager and the Stadium. The lack of concrete information in the news has been frustrating with people get more and more verbal in their doubts regarding FSG.

I would like to draw your attention to the one of the core values that built our club, discretion. Didn't it always used to be the way that we weren't media whores like other clubs? Didn't it always used to be the way that we didn't wash our dirty laundry in public? Didn't we used to have respect for other clubs? Why would FSG publish a list of managerial candidates if some of those people are employed by other clubs?

I believe that FSG DO understand the liverpool way and are going about their business in a discreet, methodical way. When they have something to tell us they will.

Keep the faith, all, our owners have behaved so far in a way that has our best interests at heart. They want the same for the club as us and are behaving in a way that used to be the norm. The Club never used to leak info and now it seems we dont again.

I believe we need to trust them and wait for good news, which I'm sure will come.

Cheers

YNWA

RM

Discretion yes INCOMPETENCE NO!
FSG are making too many costly mistakes.

Should we trust them yes but blindly no
Coz
Is stadium issue solved not yet
Net spending 35/40 million expecting top4 where every liverpool fan. Know we need 3/4 world class players to compete with big boys but what they say buy younger players(lack of ambition) if we sign martinez or rodgers again lack of ambition

Just received an email from a good buddy in Munich (still grieving too !) who having seen the van Gaal rumours has told me that he would not wish us van Gaal as 'he is a bl--dy dictator!'
Maybe he is what is actually what is required, but not as coach I hope .
Hope the fans here just realise that an owner is entitled 'to manage as they see fit' and not just be subservient to fans groups, merely to hear them and consider their views when making business decisions. I do believe some groups think they have divine rights to be the decision makers, but they do NOT !

Accept the decisions and get behind the Club straight away. If the owners fail , then they can get on their horses and ride into the sunset, but give them time . I believe they have listened too long to some fans groups and that is creating problems. Kenny's appointment being one and we know how this has turned out sadly. Good luck to KK as well.

YNWA

The experiance van gaal have he is one of the best manager.

This hazard thinks he's a bit special doesn't he? I'm glad we're not in contention for him. Watch him flop the premier league will eat him up haha

23 May 2012 09:37:23
I think everyone should calm down a bit. Yesterday I got slated for saying I don't want an abramovich-esk owner by the people normally saying they hate Chelsea for payed success and no history. Get a grip folks. I'm not sure wether the owners know what they are doing and suspense is killing me, too. But its only been a week and the window hasn't even opened yet. I appreciate the way things are done, in private. It cuts out the supporters, which is sad, but also the media, which I find fantastic.
Everyone says the owners don't back us and don't care, well, I ask you to remember last summer, when they gave the fans favorite the manager job and a huge financial backing. Look how that turned out, although they behaved lovely!
Leni

23 May 2012 09:36:13
Firstly, I have to say how embarrassing is it that the SOS group wrote to the owners 'demanding' (no less) answers.

Are they now going to question and combat every instance where they are not spoon fed information?

The owners don't have to tell you anything! Whilst negotiating these key roles why should they weaken their positions by leaking information.

Once decisions have been made and people put in place then we will hear about it.

Until then, have a bit of patience. The king has barely left the building. These things don't happen over night.

Secondly, Van Gaal has a wealth of experience and is an astute football tactician. Whether, having a Sporting Director and a Coach will work, only time will tell, but we definitely need to change and adapt our philosophy if we hope to have success again on the pitch.

I'm happy to let FSG play this out. My only fear is that the coach/SD is put in place in time for us to get in much needed players to the team, that will strengthen the 1st team, not just the squad.

There is an article on the official site about the stadium. Nothing new to report though :-(

Ian Arye states "It's only right to make announcements when you've got the right solutions. It's alright for people to say Liverpool's a big football club - 60,000 seats, why don't you just go and get on with it? But go and look at the economics of that - of a £300 million build for 15,000 new seats."

He's got a very good point. I guess it depends on how much we can get sponsorship for a new stadium.

Has there been any costings done on a re-development ?
I can't recall seeing anything..?
I wonder, as well, how much of a catalyst the proposed Liverpool Waterfront project could be for the city. That has its own problems of course. It seems like the whole thing is bogged down ,waiting for the administrative dam to burst.
The Real KB

I saw that as well mate and thought he had a fair point. If we had a 30K seater and were looking to 60K then it would make sense to build a new one.
Unless we build a 70K + seater, the current financial climate would see a new stadium not viable.
RedSox69

Maybe I being too simplistic but ten's of thousands of the waiting list for season tickets what's the problem?

tranquillo barnetta is leaving on a free in june. i know we dont have a manager yet, but do you if he's been looked at eds. decent player to get on a free.thanks

Decent player? he can't even get into the Leverkusen 11, what makes you think he is good?

AG

Hasn't he been a regular starter for the Swiss national team for the past 5 years? surely he's decent...

23 May 2012 09:13:49
Sadly it is starting to all boil down to two choices of manager in AVB and Martinez. But who would people actually want? It's a toss up between a man who has only just saved Wigan from relegation two years running on a fairly good budget (for a team like Wigan) and a man who got a top group of players so uninspired they were in diserray and on course to have one of their worst seasons in memory.

Hmmmmmm

Me thinks the owners have been a bit rash in firing KK and we seem to be a bit of a hot potato amongst any decent managers!

RedBean

I still reckon that Van Gaal will end up our manager

23 May 2012 09:09:33
FSG + AVB + LVG

JWH - make it happen

23 May 2012 09:08:03
I hear people say AVB,Martinez,brendan rodgers etc

If any of the above offered the job and withing 6 months or year don't deliver what they have been asked then what?
Martinez good manager but not strong charachter for lfc job,he'll be a yes man to owners
AVB couldn't handle chelsea,simply because he didn't get respect among senior players what are chances same happens at lfc?
Rodgers had one good season with swansea,can he repeat that,and don't forget swansea and lfc are two different club,u get it wrong and get battered 6-0 with swansea u won't be crticised as u would if it happens with lfc

The above are my though,for lfc manager u need a strong minded character who can handle pressure from everyone and still deliver,someone like Benitez,or capello,or van gaal

I've always said along,BRING BACK RAFA BENITEZ....!! But I'm sure owners won't as they would not like to be challenged when they don't fulfill what they promised a manager,its not our owners its generally same wherever u work what u get promised at job interview is not always the same as soon as u start that's y majority of people in world would leave a job if better offer comes in,my personal opinion!

Let's hope we get the best if not BENITEZ,hope in 6months time when results don't go well people don't come here and start demanding BENITEZ or KD
Have a good day fellow Reds

I say if they don't shape up then ship out top 4 or hit the road

SOS are more in tune with LFC than a couple of venture capitalists who live in the USA and bought us as an investment. FSG have made huge mistakes during their tenure and by September we will see wether our future is safe in their hands or not.

I will always be proud of SOS for their role in exposing H&G.

And if SOS are "leftwing" Lyndon then good cause so was Shankly!

Biggest mistake of all was giving kenny £100m to spend on over rated,over priced garbage which has put us in the position we are in now!

A communicator?? Is that a joke? Bielsa can't speak English!!

Eds, would any fellow Reds consider Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as our next manager?

He was an official member of the Norwegian Liverpool FC supporters club before signing for Man Utd.

He won pretty much everything with Man Utd reserves before moving to Molde FK, where he won the Tippeliga, (Norwegian Football League).

He has experience of playing in the Premiership and Europe, and he fits FSG's bill as a young Manager.

Once you go to the dark side you never come back.

Zebidee

He will make an excellent manager one day, however it might be to early for him to move to LFC, Hes still learning and I think hel be aware of the damaging effect it could have on his career if he were to not hit the ground running so to speak.

He turned Villa down because he does not want to move his family to the UK. Last time I looked, Liverpool was in the UK.

I believe Harry Redknapp will be Liverpool's new manager!

He will have a very long commute as he will NEVER leave the south coast.

It's amazing how many reliable sources there are these days, yet there is a common theme to all of them........They all list different outcomes (either on players that will sign or managers that will be appointed).

Reminds me of a great quote I heard once......."with all this honesty around I don't know who to believe"

23 May 2012 08:27:11
maybe we should poach alan carrs ( chatty man on the tv) dad as he is the main scout for newcastle and doing a great job by the looks of it ! cabaye 4.3 mill tiote 5 mill cisse 9.5 mill to name but a few...... when was the last time we paid little money for a top player???????

Enrique?

I'm sure we would have been aware of these players but chose not to act for various reasons - wages/potential injury concerns/previous conflicts with team mates/felt we had sufficent quality in the squad already etc etc.

Who knows? There's a lot more to a football club and player transfers than the vast majority of fans will ever get to know about.

skid

Renia 7mil skrtle 7 mil Agger 6 mil Enrique 6 mil, alonso 10mil, luis Garcia 4 mil, Lucas 8 mil. Just to name a few

G BOX

Just tring to think! maybe alonso,he was a bargain,lucas,hard to think but i will say this im not a huge fan of rafa but im sure all our best bargain buys came under him within the last 10 years

Maxi Rodriguez and Craig Bellamy are two that come to mind.

Craig Bellamy?

G BOX mate, it's actually Reina - 5m, Skrtel - 6.7m, Agger - 6m, Enrique - 7m, Lucas - 5 m, Garcia - 4m and Xabi - 10m

Roberto martinez is our top target and will be offeres a 3 year deal on friday. The owners truly believe he is the man to take liverpool forward. They are aware of the fans unrest about hus appointment but are very confident he can be a success and are determined to orove the doubters wrong. They had been in talks with avb though were put of by the 34 year olds requests for transfers and wages and also wanted a 5 year deal. Also louis van gaal rumours is not true they want tixi berguesten to wirk with martinez.

I personally disapointed with this as many pool fans will be. My opinion is that the owners dont want to pay a big fee to get managers out of contracts. They want someone who is carefuk with money and has proven exprrience if that. Martinez fits that bill but its ok doing it for a relegation team i dont see the same structure wirking within a club looking for greater things. And will players of high calibre want to work with him amd will he get the respect of the players the way he did at wigan i doubt it personally.

Football has officially gone nuts!! I'm tired of hearing will they get respect from players, simple as this if there shown no respect the players should be dragged in front of the board. If I went in to work today and showed little or no respect to my superiors I would struggle to see Monday in my job. The power players seem to posses in commanding high wages/signing on fees and now deciding who they will and won't give effort for leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I personally feel that LFC players may have a little more about them than not to give it there all whoever is given the job.

This was more a post on how football not LFC has gone crazy in recent times.

Mike

U couldmt be more right but player power is so strong these days if they dont talk to the players right thel just move clubs its all too easy.

I see Daniel Hanwell is at it again, he must have skin thicker than a rhino! Oh well I suppose I'll just have to copy and paste this yet again!

21 May 2012 15:45:16
Morning all I noticed a post yesterday from a DANIEL HANWELL, it said that AVB would be named manager this morning and that we have scouts watching Cavani, I wondered if said poster had any history of getting things right so I checked. This is what I found...
JANUARY
"we will buy Granero, Isla and
Couthino"

"we will bid for Honda and Soldado"

AUGUST
"we will sign Cahill"

"Dann will go to arsenal"

JULY
"Aguero is coming to Liverpool"

"if Aguero doesn't sign this summer I will never post again"

"disappointing news, Aguero is not even being considered"

"you heard it here first, I predict Doni, Downing, Mata, Turan, Dann and Baines"

"N'Zogbia and Mata will sign. Zapata and Angel will sign Turan will sign and maybe James Milner"

Please stop Daniel, you know nothing and have no source

Haha at least there is good entertainment value in reading the replies to his posts now everyone knows he hasn't a "expletive" clue.

Sorry not a rumour, just thinking out aloud.
By appointing van gaal as dof, who brings a lot of experience with him, he can be like a mentor to one of the younger managers. Groomed if you will...
He can help a young manager with certain decisions as he has been there himself.
Just a thought.
NGF1

van gaal as dof and will have the deciding say on the manager on the owners shortlist

23 May 2012 07:41:02
Keep hearing "if we get top 4" and "this manager will get us back into the top 4", im sorry but top 4 isn't good enough we need to be aiming to win the PL and accepting nothing less than 3rd place.

Ask Spurs fans top 4 finish wasn't good enough for a CL league place.

NS

What? you want us to win the league next season? no chance. maybe 5 years.

23 May 2012 06:34:58
When at the latest do you think Liverpool will appoint a manager? :/

23 May 2012 06:31:48
The most important part of our new manager is that he begins to play more attractive football. Thats why even though he isn't very experienced, I feel that Brendan Rodgers could do a good job.

I hope we get brendan rodgers

gee man

We played attractive football under KK, just couldnt put the ball in the net

23 May 2012 06:01:35
Nervous times ahead searching for hopefully the right manager to take Liverpool back to the top, unfortunately I doubt he will have the funds available initially to do this in a short time that we (as fans) would like to see.

The process of rebuilding Liverpool will take several years hence the reason FSG are looking for a younger longer term manager, with our poor performances and not qualifying for the CL we simply do not have the funds for the names being mentioned.

From sales we may generate 10mil but we need to keep our top players to have any chance of progression next season, to sell any top player and expect results from new players rarely happens, look back to the past this shows us new players rarely gel and perform in the way their 2nd season does (although their are a few that break the mold).

Finishing in the top 4 is priority but without first putting in the right management structure and then adding strength to the squad we will not achieve, I have no doubt FSG are thinking long term not short term stratergy, I would like to see it within 3 years but without throwing money around like MC it will take atleast 6years.

For a start, we don't need major rebuilding- more consistency and putting the ball in the net from a reasonable proprtion of created chances would have put is in 3rd this year- stop the "we're doomed" mantra.

Mrpjd

I dont like what your saying one bit, however i agree 100% with you and belive with the clubs that are currently occupieng 1,2 and 3rd and with their added spending power this is the only we stand any chance of success.
Jaydee ynwa

ps: bredan rogers for me.

I am not dooming and glooming just not looking through rose tinted spectacles, the simple truth is our players did not perform to the level they were expected to by FSG & KK, KK was sacrificed because he did not deliver what he outlined in his seasons objectives.

This is the reason we are not in the CL fact! yes we missed alot of chances like every other team in the PL, I don't want to live on if's and maybe's, Liverpool is behind the top 5 clubs in terms of performance and funds available, then take in to account we have no management structure at present.

Like I said previously 3 years would be fantastic but realistically 6 years would be more likely.

Jules

I read maccas comments about his wish to have Capello as Manager and Carra as Assistant.. He goes on to state that Carra would benefit from this, TOO RIGHT MACCA! I think it is a brilliant idea, even if it weren't to be Capello as manager, Carra still as assistant.

This now relates to my long term wish of hoping Hyppia has a good year or so at B.Lever... Imagine... Carra and Hyppia in the future as our managers, both brilliant players, both would have experience as a manager and both are friends. Bloody hell I hope this happens!

Sounds awful. Capello is the old guy who can't speak English who just got fired by England, right?

Capello is also the guy who has won the league with every club hes been with

Capello left he didnt get fired

hi eds,

I'm looking for some clarification, as chelsea have won the champions league, and have earned a spot in the champions league next season. how will this affect the other premier league teams? from my understanding Liverpool will get an automatic path to the group stages as FA cup runners up, but what about newcastle and spurs? or am i wrong in assuming that we will go straight into the group stages?

Also with regards to our new manager, would the eds consider martinez a decent appointment? i personally wouldn't, as i believe we need a manager to attract top quality players, as our recent form will not attract players and it seems our history and size of the club will no longer be enough.

Your clarification, thoughts and insight would be much appreciated!

Thanks

If Liverpool appoint AVB, expect AVB to express interest in his long term targets such as Hulk, Moutinho, Falcao, G.Ramirez plus many more big name players. This is partly why I want him at Liverpool. HOWEVER I know he won't have final say on who comes in but hey, got to start somewhere...

Apparently Louis Van Gaal IS being lined up as the new manager of Liverpool Fc.
Ian Ayre had origionally approached Van Gaal on behalf of the club regarding this Sporting Director Position, thats been talked about a lot in the last few hours, but Van Gaal has since turned round and declared his interest in the vacant managers post!
John Henry and the rest of the board are said to be mightly impressed with the Dutchmans record at the highest level and it's believed that a face to face interview and formal offer may take place soon as the former Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich man is currently a free agent.
They are believed to have already spoken on the phone.

It's says on sky sports news that Martinez hasnt spoke with us yet and has not had an interview ? So that's got me wondering if fsg have got something up there sleeve and might surprise us all or it might just be true what others are posting and be avb witch I would be happy with as long as they make the right appointment what best for the club

just a thought...

If it's no secret that Capello is interested in managing us, then surely he would be the leading candidate...FSG are about making an impact and big names...from the available candidates, no one comes close in name or reputation to Capello...

Van Gaal ?

Capello is a top club manager. {Ed022's Note - Was, who knows if he still is.}

23 May 2012 02:39:59
Presuming the Van Gaal plus one of Martinez/AVB rumor has any legs, what would the others on here think of this? Have to admit I'm not sure what to think, but my knowledge of Van Gaal is pretty limited. On the surface, it seems quite workable.

Eds- you all seem to be pretty quiet on this one. Is this a good outcome?

I'd love Liverpool;
Manager: Louis van Gaal
DOF: Txiki Begiristian

and to sign Luuk de Jong, Ola Jon and Luciano Narsingh.

23 May 2012 02:20:09
Many posters have come on here criticising Roberto Martinez as not being good enough for Liverpool. Perhaps they think that keeping Wigan in the EPL (against all odds) whilst playing quality, attacking football is not in keeping with our ethos. Perhaps he is guilty of not being Rafa or some other idealised manager.

Maybe these same people should look at how Di Matteo was sacked by West Brom, deemed not good enough for them, and then look at how he finished this season with good players around him.

Perhaps these same people should remember what it is to be a Liverpool fan and give the manager their full backing - whoever he is.

23 May 2012 02:13:26
"Well, what is success? Is a manager guiding a team to safety - a team like Wigan, for example - less successful than Harry Redknapp guiding Tottenham to fourth or fifth? Which manager has been more successful in terms of working with what they've got? All you can ever do as a manager is maximise the potential for that team and if maximising the potential of that team means you finish fourth from bottom, and a team who finishes second doesn't maximise their potential because they should have finished first, the manager of the team who has beaten relegation has had a more successful season".

Quote of a lifetime there.

The entire article on the website should be posted on the websites homepage permanently, and should be read by every supporter.

Why do some people want Deschamps as manager? His team finished 10th in the Ligue 1, the French League!! And people come here and moan about Martinez and his heroics in relegation battle....

Could people please top using " Odds " to back rumours up.

Odds are simply determined, on who people bet on , so the company doesnt lose money basically.

Say when martinez was asked for interview, and sky reported it, imagine all the people who went and put a bet on martinez.

All the bets placed would automatically move the odds from 10-1 down to say 3-1. As the influx would say to the bookies, this is the most probable.

Say 10 thousand people all go and put a quid on, say, Alex ferguson, even though its never guna happen, the odds would start to show him as a "favourite"

My point is odds are quite useless to determine what will happen.

Question for Macca, if he could take a minute and let us know, what is latest on the stadium? is it going to be this air china?

Ben the red

Yes but people arent idiots theyre only going to put money on who they believe will be the manager. Lower odds mean more people think that person will be manager Noone would put money on SAF as theres no chance AVB might hence the low odds

22 May 2012 23:12:32
Hey ed, with the rumours of Louis Van Gaal becoming our new DOF, would you agree that this would be a good move? Would he work well with a younger manager such as Boas or Martinez, or would you think it is a recipe for disaster? If the rumours are true, I will back the owners' decision and believe that this could be a great idea! But whether this works out in reality is another thing altogether.

23 May 2012 01:23:34
Not sure why people hating on Macca? Everything he said was correct. The mangers he mentioned did get approached and probably were main targets. Just because he mentioned the ones he hoped we got doesnt mean they have to come. If Liverpool were able to hand pick the manger he would have been right, but cant blame him if they are not intrested.

I dont know about you guys but I defintley want to here anything Macca has to say because I know its reliable info.

23 May 2012 01:14:28
If AVB takes over, it is believed that he will make Falcao is NUMBER ONE target. Spanish newspaper AS has confirmed this

Whoever takes over as manager probably has Falcao as their top target...but whether he wants to join us or if we can afford him is another issue altogether...

Why do we feel we have the right to demand up to the minute info of the owners? I am to young to remember Shankly but did he come out on a regular basis and update the press/fans regarding his every move?? If you all want info how's this, I'm of to bed!

Hi ed's if the storys circulating, about van gaal, being sporting director and then 1 of martinez, avb,rodgers laudrup and de boer sounds good, but with such a successful manager working as sporting director, and if its true what u hear, van gaal has a BIG ego, I could see problems! But he may be at a age, where he doesn't want the stress of a managers job! I would be happy with any 1 of them managers with vaan gaal working as sporting director, as least he will have a lot of contacts and would attract top quality players! Intersting times ahead! Peace out ED's DHH L20 KOPITE Y..N..W..A jft96!

I think SOS look like fools.

It is less than a week since Kenny left.

It is obvious FSG are not simply hiring a manager, but putting in place a structure involving several people.

How can all this be done in less than a week? And how can it be done in the public eye?

Hicks and Gilette are gone. SOS have done their job. Time to disband and move on.

I think disband is a bit much, but i think the decision to write to FSG in such a manner was a very poor idea, its only been a week and FSG deserve a lot of credit for their investment into Liverpool fc and the last thing they need is criticism at a crucial time for us.

They give the Club a bad Name!!
They are a very left wing Citizen Smith

Lyndon

In the end I think they are reflecting how many are feeling. I agree that we only need to be patient given the short time since Kenny was let go, however in times of insecurity like these, people just want to know that there is a plan and that it is action. Not necessarily what that plan is specifically or where they are up to, but that there is a plan and that it is on track. I for one, am happy to wait and see how this all plays out and dont think slagging off, as others have done or pressuring the owners is the best thing but people are worried and are looking for some comfort that the thing they care about is going to be ok.

AK
(PS love the site and cheers to all the EDS)

What's with the right wing attitude in this thread.

The SOS are real supporters not armchair theroists,

Its called planning. They were always going to move Dalglish on so I would have expected a lot of work to have been carried out behind the scenes already. This is what happens when you sack a manager without a replacement lined up. Just look at Wolves.

"REAL" supporters.
That's the exact problem with them and you. If the club never had "arm chair supporters where would the sponsorship come from where would the shirt sales come from they would not be selling 900'000 shirts a year just within 3 square mile of Liverpool.
Youve just done what they do and devalued
a Fan and questioned his support because he's not at the matches!!
We'd need more than 60'000'seat to get every fan in or is that Your Number of REAL fans Comrade!!
Up the Revolution. Derek Hatton for mayor
And all that!!

Well we need a revolution

But since this site is about football and you understand little of how "the Man" works but think you do I leave you in ignorance + bliss

FSG will appoint a new manager.
FSG won't give him any money.
FSG won't make a decision on the stadium.
FSG don't have a clue.
FSG aren't Gillett and Hicks so they must be the good guys, honest. No really.

There is nobody at the club who was there 35 years ago, as I was on the Kop watching us beat Bruges, St Etienne.

I am still there, but the Johnny come latelys are all millionaires, FSG, board, players. Nobody gives a s**t about the fans.

GINO61

The owners certainly aren't going to care much for fans with attitudes like yours fella. It's 2012 mate - are you still wearing the same type of clothes or sporting the same hair cut as back then? We as fans have to move with the times. These owners saved the club - give them some slack.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Why are people saying Capello is too old old, seriously? As much and all as we despise Old Whiskey Nose, he is'nt exactly a whipper snapper at the spritely age of nearly 71 and he still challenging for trophies.

Rebel_Red

Because we want a manager for 10 years plus, not someone who might retire in the next 2, 3 or 4 years.

BthekingB

SAF is not at the begining of a project, Liverpool are. I would recommend John Barnes' article on the LFC website to understand the project at hand. This is the only way we can rebuild and become giants without a Chelsea/Man City sugardaddy.

AK

Manager for the next 10 years

That's so funny

With the squad (not team) we have and the anbition of FSG the new manager will be leaving with his tail between his legs next summer

22 May 2012 23:55:15
Just looked at Van Gaal's record; surely he's more than a dof of any team nevermind one that finished 8th in the league

DOF is probably more important than the manager as fsg are going for the european style with a coach who picks the team and looks after team affairs

DOF decide what players are targets while they also are in charge of all scouts

22 May 2012 23:52:17
As someone who advocated and agreed with the removal of KD, I am still at a loss to understand the process of appointing a new manager.
It was clear at least 6 weeks ago that we were never going to finish higher than 7th or 8th, so I would have thought that the process to appoint a new manager would have begun back then. Instead everything seems to have started from the point at which KD was sacked.
I keep hearing that FSG are 'businessmen' and did wonders at the Red Sox, but does this translate as 'have a lot of money' and at least understand how baseball works.
Just because companies have a lot of money does not confer intelligence (AIG, Goldman Sachs et al), it just says they have a lot of money.
If FSG are not prepared to stump up a substantial amount of money for this summer's transfer window, and fail to expedite the decision on the stadium, then the issue of who becomes the new manager is almost irrelevant.
It will leave us permanently outside of the top 4, and a shadow of our former selves.

GINO61

I'd think you were RedTurk in disguise but you managed to keep Carroll out of your post!

Disagree = Mark Gonzales

Downing is an England international so we should probably lay off as he hopefully improves next year

It could also be Hodgson hasn't got a clue which is more likely

22 May 2012 23:31:10
hi eds please post this loving your work,

just wanted to say i am getting a bit sick of some of our fans getting carried away with media speculation and need to seriously get a grip, all these people saying its embarassing the way FSG are handling this and our club is a laughing stock because they believe far too much that they read in papers twitter etc, its only been a week for gods sake? and i suspect a fair few of the reported candidates actually arent or never was on the list for manager its our very own fans (not all of us) that are embarassing our club ask fans of other clubs theyll tell you, how our fans bang on and on about our history and traditon still believing its 1980 something. like the sos group who have sent fsg a letter demanding to know whats happening after a week, i mean 1 actual week?? who the hell do they think they are they dont represent every fans opinion, its funny how when fsg bailed us out from the other clowns we loved them, then they sack roy and replace him with kenny and back him with money and everybody thinks "hang on these guys are awesome owners", now they do something alot of you dont agree with and you all are slating them saying they dont know what there doing and are damaging our famous clubs name, get a grip these guys are very good intelligent buisness men yes buisness men not football men yet we all knew this when they took over, granted they dont know the game or who are europes best coaches and players thats why there getting the best advice thats why there taking the time to look at many candidates because they want to get it right, do we want them to rush it? i dont, there arent many owners these days who arent in it for the money and are genuine football men (maybe dave whealan) its not like when david moores owned us, modern day club owners arent like that and football in general just isnt like that so deal with it, i was in favour of kennys sacking always be a club legend but results/signings and the suarez/evra affair all made it inevitable im afraid if it was any other manager wed all be praising fsg for sacking him....... GET OUT OF THE PAST..... thankyou g'night

Nobody should be worried about whats in the press about the manager situation. FSG have a plan. Liverpool have always tried to conduct business behind closed doors. The press are struggling and filling the news void with crap. No news from Anfield so are making most of it up. Was it actually Rogers that said no or did Swansea not give permission? Whelan told the press but have Liverpool actually interviewed Martinez yet? Did Liverpool approach De Boer or was it a hypothetical question from the press?

We should not be stressing because of the void. There will be an announcement when there is news to announce. I am actually glad the are taking time and mulling over all the candidates they have in mind as it's a massive decision for the club. I do think we should go more European and employ a DoF who with the new manager construct a philosophy for the next 25 years of how we should play and bring through youth and also hope that the owners also buy into this.

It's a very nervous and exciting time for the club.

Irrespective of who the new manager I think the first thing he should do is sell Gerard. We need a proper fresh start and that means getting rid of any egos. Who agrees?

Maybe my sense of humour is also a little hung over. But wow mate...... you cannot be serious

I totally agree.

Joe Cole

That surely is a way to endear himself to the Liverpool faithful and the city as a whole - come in an outsider and sell the most famous or second most famous and well known player to don the famous red without even giving him a shot in your system?!?

Mate, catch a grip.

McSnuggles

May be we should get rid of the fools who say they are lfc fans , gerrard gives more to us than just his place in the team.

You need to build the team around gerrard he is a leader you have no idea

I find it funny how so many people on here chat so much rubbish then occasionally you get that person just going mental saying LFC is a way of life im sorry but if you go mental you need to get a life! Even though I love watching Liverpool play some of the people on here go to a new level

22 May 2012 23:10:07
The rumour doing the rounds right now is Van Gaal DOF and AVB as manager no proof or sources though think that sounds quite promising to be honest don't think Martinez is ready yet that's not to say he won't one day be a great manager but you only have too look at wigans first half of the season to see that Carlos81

22 May 2012 23:06:37
Ok not a rumour, more somthing the fans may not of looked at whilst making a choice for the new manager. If we go for a young manager with a 3/5 year plan are you seriously gonna be patient enough with that nagging feeling in the back of your head saying"this guy never did anything before he took over here" The other teams Man Utd man s**tty arsnal, chelski n spurs, are they gona stand still as we wait for the years to tick by. Christ heaven forbid a sheiq wealthy owner takes over the bitter blues, n splashes the cash (not that moyes would no what to do with it). If mourinho was to arrive we would think were gona win the league before he even bought a new player, but hes staying at madrid. So who has a better record than mourinho and is available and also said last month "he wanted one more challenge at a big club not neccessary in the champions league, a club with a interesting project"

The club he his talking about is Liverpool football club and the manager is fabio capello

22 May 2012 23:06:21
i see AVB as a younger version of rafa but not so intent on total control, a complete student of the game and unbelievably thorough but also allows his teams to play with much more freedom and attacking intent.
he like rafa has had a blip at chelsea and inter milan respectively. you would imagine that both of them would've learnt more from their bad experiences than they would've done from all their previous winning experiences.

22 May 2012 23:05:52
Just got home from the most amazing night. 3 generations of mad Liverpool fans just watched my 6 year old son playing at Anfield and slotting penalties at the Kop end. Claire and all the LFCTV crew were filming it for the Anfield soccer academy courses. I would recommend any mad reds pay for this once in a lifetime experience if you can afford it. Check out the LFC YouTube channel in the next few days to see what an amazing 3 hour experience your kids could have.
I stood behind the Kop goal as my lad thumped a penalty home, how amazing is that?

Right another day of nonsense and wise cracks then.......Ill start with the Spirit of Shankly mob.....What gives you the right to expect to be involved in the day to day news of LFC's background, theyre not going to involve you lot and for the record you DONT represent the average everyday LFC fan, your letter is nothing short of an embarrassment and could do more harm with the press trying to get at us every two minutes than good, did anybody seriously think it through before it was sent?...Did anybody stop to think that in the main FSG have done us proud, they saved us from going under for a start, not to mention supplied funds for Kenny to waste which another manager might just have brought some serious proven talent with, theyre trying to make us a new improved modern LFC NOT an old looking back on old footage and blabbing on about the good old days club.....Ok we have great history and great passion at LFC but where has it got us in the last 20 years?
Weve won a couple of things but when apart from one season under Rafa have we been even close to the title we crave?......nowhere near, as for the Rafa supporters who conveniently forget the bad tactical changes, substitutions AND signings he made you must be crazy!, he spent a small fortune of the old owners money to do not a great deal!, lets face it the majority of his squad that won the Champions league was Houlliers and when he had most of his own in place and got us to the final again he blew it with bad tactics and subs that were brought on way too late,
I dont get our fans sometimes, its like weve all lost our minds, Tonight on talksh*ite one of our so called fans rang in complaining about how Kenny has been removed and we should have kept him on etc etc....Ok well thats gone now lad so lets move on, all this Kenny stuff needs putting to bed, as he'd probably tell you himself if you had the chance to ask him,
Point is WERE DAMAGING OURSELVES!......stop with all the crazy talk and all this nonsense about whose not good enough etc because until a man comes in or until FSG dont deliver what they say theyre going to deliver then we all need to be normal human beings and sit tight,
Its a multi million pound business theyre running not a sweet shop, these things are rarely easy to sort at the best of times and barely a week since Kenny left is hardly a long space of time to find the right man.......
Nothing is good enough anymore and if were not careful we might just force away the best owners we could have wished for.....Give the men a break and see what happens, If its awful then we can moan...but not until
The Guv 81-9 YNWA JFT96

I agree we the fans are becoming too out spoken ok it worked ,we got rid of the previous owners but we can not spit our dummies out every time we do not agree with the owners , as previous owners said to me you do not have to go the game, so lets give fsg 100% support they need all the help they can get and be sure it will have mutual benefits. ynwa red mick tag

iff you have nobody in line why sack the king because he was getting there albeit slowly last season at times some off the best football i have seen in along time at liverpool,some tweaks hear and there and will be ok
new striker,top class right winger and learn stuart downing to run forward not sidewards and backwards
tell a carroll to be an old fashion goal langer the size off him he should scare every golie in league
whoever you put in charge we will get behind them

Eds i have lost all faith in the owners! We have been a week now without a manager and still no nearer to appointing! This is embarassing! They should have lined up a new man already and he should already be in place looking to recruit players now!

i know this is tapping up, but let's not be naive here, all the top clubs do it!

They need to have and should have acted fast - I fear for the future!

Just because it's not in the the news, that does not mean the target is not confirmed and in negotiations. For all we know we may already have a new manager, just be a little more patient. 1 week gone by? WOW! danger, 1 week.

I realise as i am writing that this original poster may have been having a laugh, because the content of the post is so ridiculous...

You're embarrassed by the club taking time to appoint the right people to the staff but wouldn't be by us blatantly breaking the governing laws of the game and thumbing our nose at FIFA to boot?

Getting a bit fed up of the revisionists on here - talking about "the great tactician Benitez".

Athens 2007 Champions League Final. Picking Pennant before Bellamy. Milan were better all over the park. And what did the great maestro tactician do ? Kewell for Zenden, Crouch for Mascherano. (Zenden on from the start - I mean - really !)

Istanbul 2005 - don't tell me Rafa turned it round. He picked the team in the first place. (Hamann dropped from the starting line up).

Revisionists - first to the wall - comrades!
Onwards and upwards !

RedTed

I thought we were the better team in Athens, didn't Pennant get motm?

In fairness Pennant was man of the match against Milan if you remember correctly. however the rest is all spot on... I think no matter how good tactically Benitez was in some of his games, he had served his time for the club, same with King Kenny. We'll always be indebted to their contributions, as we will to all LFC managers past and future(except Sounness) but I say let's start a new footballing dynasty... Something completely different, and let's do it all together as one

Bulls**t. We were better than milan in 2007 mate. And all your other arguments are ridiculous. Do you know Howe much of an accomplishment it is to get to a champions league final? Do you realise how far away
We are from one now? Idiotic posset.

Hopefully on Liverpool Banter or Liverpool Teams

Liverpool 2012/2013

I believe it's time to cut some players loose. If LFC wants to change their luck in the EPL I think the following players needs to go:

Brad Jones, Doni, Glen Johnson (sometimes very good in the attack but...), Stephen Darby, Jamie Carragher (time to step back, retire), Jay Spearing (haven't been good enough, even though I like his energy), Charlie Adam (clearly a dissapointment, even though he started optimistic), Alessandro Aquilani (time to stop this tiresome saga), Maxi Rodriguez (have to go to leave place for a new player and youngsters like Sterling to get time on the pitch), Dirk Kuyt (have been one of my favorite players, but if the club wants any cash for him it's time now), Joe Cole (yes he has been playing well in France, but we want the club to improve or...), Nathan Eccleston (I don't know how long you should keep a player without giving him a chance).

If the club decides to let Stewart Downing go I won't mind, but I'm not sure it's good to let so many wingers go at the same time, and it's impossible for him to make a worse season than this one.

I think LFC needs to 3-4 new players in the midfield and attack.

I will present players that could strengthen the team without being to expensive in five positions on the field that can get the job done:

CDM - Blaise Matuidi (PSG), Lars Bender (B. Leverkusen), Sven Bender (B. Dortmund), Havard Nordtveit (B. Monchengladbach), Maxime Gonalons (O. Lyon)

RW - Markel Susaeta (A. Bilbao), Ryad Boudebouz (Sochaux), Cristian Tello (Barcelona), Antoine Griezmann (R. Sociedad), Dimitri Payet (Lille), Juan Iturbe (Porto)

LW - Dries Mertens (PSV Eindhoven), Nolito (Benfica), James Rodriguez (Porto), Eljero Elia (Juventus), Lucas Ocampos (River Plate)

CAM - Gastón Ramírez (Bologna), Matías Fernández (Sporting Lissabon), Younés Belhanda (Montpellier), Sebastian Giovinco (Parma), Lewis Holtby (Schalke 04), Zakaria Labyad (PSV Eindhoven)

CF/ST - Luuk de Jong (Twente), Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Sporting Lissabon), Olivier Giroud (Montpellier), Bojan Krkic (Roma)

I know that some of the players like the Bender brothers, Belhanda or Giroud could be expensive if there was a bidding war, but one can always hope not.

If the club were to sell Reina or one of our centre backs (Skrtel or Agger) LFC need to fill their shoes too. Goalkeepers like Yann Sommer (Basel), Rui Patrício (Sporting Lissabon) and Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray) springs to mind. Defenders like Dejan Lovren (O. Lyon), Nicolás Otamendi (Porto) and Aleksandar Dragovic (Basel) could perhaps fill the void after Skrtel or Agger.

LFC for life

Get both the benders to come and play DM. It's immature, but i'd never tire of that! HAHA!
