I will begin with an apology to Macca and to the eds for doubting the credability of the coates information. If iam wrong I will appologise and on this occasion i am wrong. so sorry.
This site is a rumour site and i took thing s to seriously (mainly because of the disapoitment of not signing Cahill) Anyway respect to Macca for being on the ball. I would'nt get carried away just yet untill coates's signature is on the dotted line. it does say in the guardian we have offered 8m and Nacional are holding out for the best offer. There is however a very good chance he will join us.

Once again i appologise to Macca,Eds and anybody else i might have annoyed. KB

You're letting us KB's down there mate.

Well you pi**ed me off annyway,wheres my apology kb lol

I read this site about 20 times a day looking for any updates to gerrards fitness or transfer targets and in the main the banter is good.

I now think that we have to lay off slagging the likes of Andy Carroll and Henderson. Think about it like this the expectation at our club is so much higher than at there previous clubs where they flurished they had low pressure on there shoulders and were allowed to go out and enjoy there football which is the reason we brought them in to our club.

Now they arrive at anfield already they will have put pressure on themselves so what good are we doing by not getting right behind them and supporting our talented signings. By putting pressure on them to the extent we have after a handful of games is going to have a negative effect on our club they will become nervous and not play to there full potential.

Lets get right behind all our signings not just the ones you think we should have signed and create a positive vibe for all our players to flourish then in May we can all come on here and assess how our boys did if you still feel that carroll or henderson are crap then you can say so but to judge them at this stage is outragous and serves no purpose other than making our players feel worse.

We have to show for want of a better word a united front and lets be positive and get behind our signings and the club as a hole who knows what trophys we might have in the bag by end of may.

Come on reds no more negativity look how we sit now a great balanced squad with no primadonnas worried about there hair we have a manager who is a legend at our club we have great new owners with a vision to put us back to being best in europe again and with the 3 potential signings of bellamy, coates and benayoun will just improve the squad further.

Forget what scum ciiteh chavs are doing and focus on what matters and thats Liverpool Sorry for the rant I just want us all pulling together for the good of the club

Dan T

It got me quite fired up that post dan t, thats the spirit sir and a great post i enjoyed reading mate......

I love these dignified proper fans posting tripe on this site.
Carroll, Hendo blah blah blah.
They haven't a clue about football, too much sky sports Neville noshing going on.
I was at Anfield on Saturday and saw Andy C do a good job for the team, something Torres couldn't do without Gerrard in the team.
I also saw Jordan H play rather well, nothing flash, great pace and engine. He made good quick passes and tracked well opening up space for Charlie A.
Anyone who thinks negatively about that is a glamour supporter and obviously didn't see us last season.
I remember it well, getting all excited to see Konchesky don our famous red jersey!
Do me a favour bitters and wake up! Or just support Barcelona and P#ss off!
Ultra Red

It was at the emirates last saturday u muppet!

I was at Anfield for the Sunderland game.

Just wanted to clear that one up before I get battered :)
Ultra Red

Well. Bloody. Said.

Such a promising group of player this year, and definitely planning for the long term. As for Konchesky...well I have similar memories, tried to be as optimistic as possible but we all know what happened!

Can't help thinking that if Messi had arrived some folks would be lining up to have a pop - 'not physical enough!'

Still, it would be boring without all this!!

Martin

Was there a llokalike at Anfield? Big Andy was at the Emirates
Milamber

Weren't we at the Emirates this Saturday?

Quackers

But I do agree with the rest of the post

Quackers

Love the post ultra spot on sir.....
but id say a large majority of those posts are from manure and bitters tryin to cause a stir on are banter page,although ive got to say we have got a fair share of strap ons ourselves sorry to say, but atleast we got a lot of ready made replacements for king kenny, if he ever decides to call it a day, and they all seem to know alot more than he does about buildin a team anyway, they seem to think ;)
rodger the dodger

One more point on Jordan Henderson he is only 20 years old and his debut was against his previous club which adds precious followed by Arsenal at the Emeriates. Give him time.

Just a thought.

If we can sell or loan out Joe Cole then the wages saved would pay for Bellamy.

We need a quick and determined forward more than a midfielder.

RedKev {Ed002's Note - It is way more complicated than that if Cole is sold. Sorry.}

Ed002, us Lpool fans on here are truly thankful of your knowledge and unbiased advice. But, tell me, does it give you just the teeniest weeniest warm feeling inside when you burst our bubble ? Lol.
Go on, admit it. I won't think bad of you.

Can anyone or the ed tell me who coates is? Is he the centre half who stepped in for godin during the copa america? If so this could be a potentialy great signing.
Ps i agree with an earlier post from chris in tamworth(sp.). Before andy carrol signed for us i didnt think he was good enough simply because he doesnt fit in with the way we play. My balls nearly fell out of my sack when we payed £35million for him. But once a player steps out onto that anfield pitch or any other inferior away pitch they have my support whether that be henderson,andy,luis,stevie or even poosen. But that still doesnt mean i rate andy carrol (or poulsen) because i dont. I just hope for the sake of lfc they come good and prove me,chris and whoever else very wrong. Anyway id appreciate an answer. Thanks guys.
Capetownred

So you even dare to put carroll in the same sentence as poulsen.....tut tut tut what a strap on

Ed not really liverpol related, but that Russian club (who look like signing eto, possibly skrtle ad well as host of others) where on earth do they get there cash from?!? {Ed002's Note - They have a wealthy owner.}

How come none of them people wanna take over liverpool ed ? im delighted with the owners we have now but thought it would be interesting to find out why they wouldnt ? any idea ed(s) ? thanks. {Ed002's Note - As far as I know they have not said they would not want to take control. You may be searching for an answer to a question that does not exist.}

23 Aug 2011 22:29:41
Hi EDs, love your site....

Could you please explain the new restrictions for next season, which i think is known as fair play.

I am under the impression that you have to play 5 English or British players, and if you're one pound in debt you can't enter the champions league.

I understand Dalglish is building a team of tried and tested English or British players, and if there is any foreigners they have to be amazing, the type of players that can turn a game.

I am trying to think how Chelski, Old red nose's dump and Man s**tty enter Europe as they're all heavily in debt, and all buying foreigners.

Let us all know of your wise expertise.

Michael Kop

{Ed002's Note - There is no time to explain it now but it is not next year and nothing like you imagine. My advice is to forget all about it.}

23 Aug 2011 22:19:36

if Coates does come in, who will he replace? Carragher is never going to be dropped until he is to unfit to play due to age, and Agger is fantastic IF he stays fit (so i know thats not likely but say he does stay fit all season) Would Coates really want to sit on the bench? And then what about Skrtle who played every prem game last season

If Coates comes in I think we will play with 3 centre backs with 2 wing backs in most games.

He will be like Jones at United. Will come in when injuries dictate he is needed, and although Skrtel will be the favoured sub at first, expect him to be first sub once he's settled in. Carragher is likely to be injured and completing fewer games as he gets older. If he can stay fit, fantastic, if not, Coates will gradually phase him out. A pairing of Coates and Agger in a few seasons could be excellent - 2 ball-playing, tough-tackling centre backs - but if none on the youngsters make the grade in the next few seasons we will likely sign another centre back as well

Red Ollie

Coates is only young and I think hi woring along side Carragher and Agger will help is game improve a lot. And I do believe that if Coates impresses enough he will take Carraghers or Aggers place, I don't believe that Kenny will play Carragher on sentiment alone, like he has said repeatedly, no player is bigger that the Liverpool Football Club

To Macca,

Thanks as always for the info, I'm just letting you and everyone know that there is a forum on the LFC official website with quotes from you! One guy has created a thread about you and this website due to your credibility, and your ITK status is quickly spreading!! Apologies if someone has already posted this, just thought it was interesting and you might want to check it out, the thread i think is titled "benayoun and the "exciting news" on his future tomorrow". Thanks again (of course thanks to the eds as well).

King Kam

Thanks King Kam, just passing on what i get told..

Cheers

Macca

On that thread on the official site they initially say that no one can be in ITK, then dismiss macca as being a twitter poster and then some guy posts Macca's posts when he predicted correctly before anyone else and they all say "you cant fit that amount of words in twitter" and "you have just made this all up and put a name at the end" - quite comical!.

Making quite a name for yourself Macca mate. You'll get fat Duncan (Kraptalk) copying what you post, and then charge £30 a year for it. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA

Cheers Blair,

Not getting to carried away, i am sure if Yossi and Bellamy dont sign i will be classed as the blagger who guess's right every now and then..

Cheers

Macca

If i was you Macca mate, i wouldn't be worried about Yossi and Bellamy not signing. If Coates dosn't sign, you'll be hung, drawn and quartered. Don't worry mate, i'll pick up the pieces.

rossi of villareal scored 2 gr8 goals tni, he bangs them in, suarez rossi carroll/bellamy be lethal

23 Aug 2011 21:43:44
Would like to add to a quick point to the whole Carroll debate. I think a lot of 'supporters' should be very dissapointed in themselves. Not only has Carroll had to deal with referee's penalizing his slightest pushes and defenders getting away with jumping all over him, but his own fans slagging him off all the time. Although he hasn't played amazing, he's done nothing but try and in quite a few games, like the city game he's looked truely like the 35m player he is. If you went on the chav's site or citeh's site last year, you'd have rival fans slagging off dzeko and torres but their own fans defending them. Its the complete opposite over here, with our own fans seemingly determined to put carroll down at every opportunity. Carroll will be a class act, will prove more than worth his money and if he stays long enough will bag hundreds of goals for the reds. He's young, adapting to a new system, low on confidence, had a series of injuries which hampered his progress and he left his family and friends and his boyhood club, give the lad time and he will shine.
D.K

Some people forget his age. I think he is not a 35 mil player YET but i think he will be.

Well said mate slaggging your own players off won't help anyone. To call your self supporters makes me laugh and why the big fuss over the 35 million fee did u pay all the money no chelsea did we wanted what ever Newcastle wanted for Carroll plus 15 mill for torres if we only paid 10 mill like a lot of fans say he is worth torres would have gone for 25 million simples so stop bitching and get behind your players and your team the lad will come good no doubt

I think the major gripe is how the team seem to play more long balls when he's in the team. This isn't his fault and the team will learn to play with him without just aiming for his head when they play more games together. In 2 games he's had very few chances but still forced a great save from the Arsenal keeper and had a goal very harshly chalked off against Sunderland. Once the team learns to use him to finish off moves rather than just aiming at him from long balls, he'll start proving the doubters wrong

Red Ollie

23 Aug 2011 22:03:21
Craig Bellamy!Are people f**King serious.He is to old, he is a trouble maker and he is not good enough.People will say we are getting him on a free.I would not take him if he was paying us.If he is not good enough for city he certainly is not good enough for liverpool fc.(RD.RED)

He is mountians ahead of Ngog and will add plenty of depth to the squad. Who would you rather see on our bench, a Frenchman who has failed miserably or a Welshman who still has plenty to offer?

As for him being a trouble maker, every team needs some yin & yang in their squad.

Guys, if you want a laugh, have a look at the spuds, bitters and gooners banter pages. You will squeeze one out laughing, I haven't seen so many depressed Londoners since Eastenders last week. As for Everton, it's so funny, just breathe in the despair, excellent!!

I don't understand?

Arsenal rekon d have 90mil to spend

£90 million to spend in 8 x days. Fantastic, would love to do that. Lol.
It'll be like Brewsters Millions, remember that film ?
But seriously, I don't think old Wenger will manage it. He'll have a stroke trying to spend all that. This is the guy that has a loyalty card with Aldi to get the discount points.

23 Aug 2011 21:31:52
Normally I would no questions support any new signings by the reds, but imo coates looks a bit raw. Not sure if his aggressive style will suit us, esp with tendency to lunge in. We hardly get the benefit of doubt from refs, and some relative unknown with no rep with the stripes could be disasterous. I'm just saying in comparison to epl proven cb like dann/ cahill whom the refs know what to expect from n will judge accordingly. Atleast- to be safe-hold coates out of tight matches until he's settled. On a positive note he will make an impact on set pieces with heading ability n taking pressure off andy. Bit premature I know, as we have yet to sign him, so excuse my apprehension. azkop

Hold on azkop lad. You're supposed to wait until we've signed him and he's played at least 45 minutes before you have a go.
There is an etiquette on here y'know.
The Real KB

Goog god not even signed yet n negative, he looks gr8 n copa america, he was cb there , forwards like messi aguero teves neymar etc played n he was one of best defenders
5 gold stars

Jamie Carragher has an agressive style and a tendency to lunge in azkop mate. But Jamie is still one of the best defenders to play in the PL. This kid won the best young player of Copa America ahead of players like Neymar, Aguero, Sanchez etc. I wonder who was the last defender to win the best young player was? They usually give it out to exciting players like Neymar, Aguero, Sanchez etc.

The kid must have somthing special and would be a coup if we do sign him.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. We hav'nt even signed him yet?

HE won young player of the Copa America tournament which is a very big tournament with most of the best player's in world football! he's a centreback so must be very good at what he do'es to win that award! not to mention his winner's medal! Alphared

23 Aug 2011 21:20:53
Anyone think we might sign Dann and Coates, and let Skrtel go?

Dann I believe is usually left sided centre-half, leaving him to battle with Agger for that position. Coates at 6ft 5 would be our option when we wanted a big header of the ball in there, Carra would play most games with Kelly as another option and Wisdom in reserve. Plenty of cover.

Skrtel has 3 years on his contract so could command a good fee from Russia's rich clubs. If we could get upwards of £10m for him and get Coates and Dann in for around £16m the pair then that is surely great business.

Not a bad shout mate, but can't see us buying both of them. Would certainly be good though.

Also, I think that £10mil for Skrtel is way too high - hope I'm wrong.

Martin

You don't rate yourself very highly Martin mate.

Anfield Rapstar

Although i'd love to have Dann and Coates at the club (I havn't seen anything of coates over than a couple of youtube video's but from what i've seen and heard he looks quality). I think it would be a mistake to get rid of skrtel. With injury inevitabley going to hit Agger at some stage in the season, we need a player with skrtel's experience and knowledge of our system and players. It can never hurt to have plenty of back up as well. Plus, skrtel's a battler, who never stops working with a winning mentality, the club needs players like him.
D.K

Haha, nice one Rapstar.

Its cos I might get closer to eto's 350k a week if I can get the transfer fee down!

Re Fifa,fair enough,but have a look at Downing's speed rating 78,is that accurate,they have Lampard better then Gerrard,and its not just Andy Carroll to no name about taking Andy out for dinner,he's into Boyzone,i aint so its a no go i'm afraid.Its Liverpool players and Liverpool in general no name,as you'd have noticed if you'd read any of my posts,not just Andy Carroll,have a look when people were rippin Downing for fun,slow with no technique was how i heard him described,Henderson too,i'm very very sorry for supporting our players and team,i must try not to do it again ha ha. Jonson6

They have Lampard better then Gerrard,
YOU WANT TO SAY TO SCORE GOAL FROM FREE KICK RIGHT? OTHERWISE I NEVER SAW LAMPARD BETTER THEN GERRARD. MAY BE TOO MANY INJURY TAKE GERRARD OUT LAST 2 YEARS. BUT NO FOOTBALLER NEAR TO GERRAD IN HIS POSITION. HE PLAY 1 AND HALP PLAYER FOOTBALL IN THE FIELD.

And then you go and redeem yourself with this post mate, i hope all the reds on here catch your positive passion mate, how cant some clowns see were moving in the right direction.... and fast
rodger the dodger

I too support our players and yes, AC is into Boyzone. I believe that Andy Carroll and Henderson are good players in the same way that Roy Hodgson is a good manager, just not right for Liverpool and not at the prices they came in at, thats all.

omdz just watched a video of Raheem Sterling on you tube i can not believe how good this 16 year old that players for our reserves is. he reminds me of swp and elia. this player is class

tonkz

Jesus - if he's like SWP - get rid now!!! No way, he is far better than SWP ever was or ever hoped to be.

If i was raheem i'd be very offended by that comparison ;) D.K

RAHEEM WILL SAVE OUR £30M. HOPE TO SEE HIM PLAY FEW MATCH THIS YEAR

23 Aug 2011 20:50:59
Ye Chris in Tamworth and by most of your posts about him your defo not,shame K.K is as well mate so get used to him. I really used to think you were one of the most sensible posters on here but with all your anti Carroll rants,and smarmy comments,sucking up to the eds,i've been in Wales ed,,like anyone gives a turd.You can reply what you want mate,because as a poster said yesterday. Andy Carroll, LIVERPOOLS NUMBER 9,get used to it mate ha ha. I'm waitin,all you do is shout down other posters take some valium like you continually replied to my other posts when posters like you wound me up ha ha. Jonson6.

Here we go again same old rant.
It's quite simple really, I didn't rate Carroll before we signed him so I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say I think he's wonderful just because we've signed him.
I guarantee if the posters on here had been asked in December "do you want Andy Carroll as your new striker" most would have replied "no not good enough" probably you included.
Despite my doubts over his ability I have always insisted that I want him to prove me wrong but so far he hasn't and I'm perfectly entitled to voice my opinion without being shouted down by you. As for you accusing me of sucking up to the Ed's I think you should re-read your post timed 20:58.
If he turns out like I hope he does I'll gladly admit I was wrong but I doubt we'll hear anything from you if he turns out to be an expensive flop.

Chris in Tamworth

Hehehe dont hold back johnson6, but i fully agree with you mate, as far as giving liverpools number 9 down the banks anyway, how anyone cant see his qualities and how hard he trys is beyond me and the lad is over the moon to be wearing are shirt too.to be fair chris in tamworth is a proper red though,even if i disagree with his slating are teams player,especially a young,promising machine which carroll is ,and who gives his all when out there playing for are cause but hey theres always someone who thinks he knows better than king kenny, oh by the way how was wales lol

Re aquilani, those that say it's not the players fault but rafa's fault, yes rafa took a big gamble, however, my point is the player is a disgrace because he doesn't & has never wanted 2 be here & still receiving his wages in full whilst in Italy furthering his reputation & international career whilst we struggled in the league & with our squad.
Then kk has had to use him in pre season shop window to try n get
shut because he made it clear he didn't want to be here with his agent making daily statements.

What sticks in my throat is some posters on this site demand we keep him or play him, yet players like kuyt & Lucas who sweet blood for our club get bemoaned & Carroll & hendo who are finding their feet get criticised.

Aquilani is a disgrace & should be seen as that by ALL our fans. That is all he is good 4 a 3rd rate league for over 40s that is Italy.

Jimbob

Well said Jimbob - what grows my grass is people on here calling him 'Aquaman' like he is some kind of hero. The bloke has shafted the club and the supporters and poeple on here idolise him!!

JRG {Ed002's Note -They call him that because they cannot spell Aquilani.}

Jimbob, it's happening at virtually every PL club. Doesn't make it right, but welcome to the world of English Football 2011.
The Real KB

Thanks Jimbob, that's the best and most sensible post I've read here ever, sick of the so called fans having a go at players who want to play for the club but praise aquillani for disrespecting us. Also anyone who ever calls him 'aquaman' deserves a swift kick to the groin, it's really cringeworthy

Well said jimbob, in kk i trust, this man aqua does not want to play for us so get rid. give carroll, henderson a chance these guys never now when they are beaten and are playing for our club

I thought they called him Aquaman because Aquaman is famously the worst superhero ever, so the name was easy to choose.

Jolly Red

Fools - he was a true quality, flair player, something we have ran away from for years, and not given a chance by the Fat Waiter or Roy - if he had been given the chance, who knows what he would have achieved. I have an idea, lets have a squad of 25 workers with no flair, effective maybe, but not great to watch.

John B {Ed001's Note - I would say that you are clearly the fool, jumping to defend someone who has done nothing but disrespect the club you claim to support. Yet you disrespect a man who has shown the club and fans nothing but respect. For all his faults as a manager, Rafa the man deserves better than to be insulted by you. By the way, if you actually watch Aquilani play, you would understand that his quality was so little that we have had to pay him off to get rid.}

I'd be very supprised if you were an LFC fan John B, if so then not a very knowledgable one. No no self respecting LFC fan would use the term "Fat Waiter". I have heard the Mancs and the Toffee noses, use that term quite often though.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Isn't John B one of Jim Hensons creations?
Back to the Manc site John, glad we know that we have a name to ignore now.
Ultra Red

Ed001 - Would you care to illustrate your answer about Aquilani with more detail about what you know?

As someone who thought he could have genuinely been a creative force for the team I feel a bit soiled by the whole episode tbh.

dt

Ahh, "a bit soiled" dt ?
Care to elaborate on that mate ?
The Real KB

I reckon there are loads of Mancs and Toffees come on here, stirring it. Ours are about the busiest pages, whatever the time of day, so they're about guaranteed a response every time.

what team does coated currently plan for eds? {Ed002's Note - Nacional in Uruguay.}

23 Aug 2011 19:59:53
eds do u not think it is ridiculous that we never went for turan at a price of £11.5 million, yet we spent £16 million on jordon henderson!....turan is 3 times the player of henderson, a massive liverpool fan and can operate quite comfortable on both flanks which is exactly wot we need???....pathetic i think!! {Ed002's Note - Dear Kenny ....}

His injury record is poor & was deemed too lightweight for EPL.

Too lightweight??....erm mata, nasri, silva, etc etc need i go on!!....class players will make it no matter what!! henderson will b the biggest mistake in our history of transfer dealings!! {Ed001's Note - thank you for that load of nonsense, Mystic Meg, it is great to know that the players have 'fans' like you to support them as they settle into life at a new club.}

Yea ed 002, u mite wanna send that 'dear kenny' letter when we dont get in the top 4 because the teams above us have nani, young, valencia....mata, (probably )modric, malouda...nasri, silva, milner, adam johnson....bale, lennon, v d vaart...gervinho, walcott, chamberlain, (possibly hazard) 2 operate on their flanks...........YET we have downing, henderson, kuyt, cole, maxi....NOT GOOD ENOUGH WHATSOEVER!! {Ed001's Note - you clearly have little football knowledge to know what is good enough and what isn't. Modric, VDV, Walcott and AOC are not wingers and only play on the flanks when they have to, if at all. I would take Downing over any other left winger, he has already proven to be better than Young when on the same team. Whiners like you are embarrassing, what happened to Liverpool fans being knowledgeable?}

Do some research TOOL. Turan was injured for most of last season and got injured again two weeks ago playing for Turkey.

What I don't get is people moaning for no reason. Henderson & Carroll have both got bags of potential and can provide a core to our team many years to come. If people want more flair then go support another team. If you truly support a team then you stick with them in whatever choices they make. KK already knows what type of players he wants, and I think he knows a lot more than any of us. If you had the choice that we win the majority of our games by 1 or two scrappy goals or lost but played "good" football which one would you pick?

I love the transfer window, eds i know it must be hell for you with all the abuse and rubbish you get thrown at you sometimes, but you do a great job.

I think we have signed some fantastic players, Downing and Enrique are my pick of the bunch. Adam needs work but you can't argue with that left foot, he just lacks a bit of pace. I can't say anything about Henderson apart from the price tag because i do not know much about the lad, but I'm sure he will be fine. Andy Carroll got a lot of negative posts on the weekend but he is only in his early 20's and needs people to stick with him and give him the full support, what is the point in being negative and getting on his back?

If we can sign Coates and maybe one more then that would be a great transfer window and we can carry on growing as a club and hopefully get into the Champions League at the end of the season.

These lads need time to become a proper team, just because its professional football does not automatically mean that a team will be amazing as soon as players are bought in. This team needs time and for the fans to be positive and not moan about the new players after a few games!

I wish I could share this growing excitement about Sebastian Coates. I've never seen him play and no very little about him and at the age of 20 is he going to be ready to come straight into the first team. I'd be much more excited if we were on the verge of signing Cahill who I firmly believe has all the attributes to come in and replace Carragher, if not this season certainly next. Don't get me wrong If DC and KK believe this lad is good enough then great but I'm just not sure about everyone going mad when a majority (if not all) of us have never seen him play.

Fingers crossed, maybe we'll sign him and Cahill before the end of the month! ;)

Possible Liverpool team in 2020:

Reina (37)
Kelly (27)--Coates (28)--Agger (34)--Enrique (33)
Henderson (29)--Spearing (30)--Shelvey (27)--Sterling (26)
Suarez (32)--Carroll (30)

That's not even including the likes of Flanagan, Robinson, Morgan, Suso, Wisdom, Coady etc. If we sign Coates we'll have a host of top youngsters at the club. Coates, Henderson and Carroll are equal to Jones, Cleverley and Welbeck any day

Red Ollie

Lol. Talk about insight.
I bet you can't name the team for next week though. Post of the day this.
The Real KB

I'm not saying that will be the actual team in 2020, obviously it won't. I'm just showing that we have a lot of talented young players at the club and even if only a handful of those last 8 years that's still fantastic stability into the future. Makes a great change from a couple of seasons ago when it was hard to imagine life without Carra and Stevie.

And for the record, team against Bolton:

Reina
Kelly--Carra--Agger--Enrique
Henderson--Lucas--Adam--Downing
Suarez--Carroll

Howay lad, the team in 2020 ?
If you're not saying that will be the team, why post it then ?
Anyway, me piles are playing up today so I'm having a go at everything and everyone.

I think this Coates deal makes a lot of sense, he's young so i don't think he would be expecting to be an automatic starter in the team. If we had of bought Dann or Cahill i think they would have been signing in the agreement that they would be in the starting 11 which i think would have been unfair to Agger because i think a fit Agger is better than both.

If Agger is fit, it won't be his place under threat? Have you not noticed for all his endeavour and never say die attitude, fact is! Carra can't head a ball.

Hi Ed, Is the Aquilani deal, done and dusted already? I Simply want everything to finally get some clarity so we can move on and focus on acquiring new players.
I just hope there will be no more twist as it could effect the club's transfer plan in this last few days of the market. Any inside info whether our management have simply sealed the deal with Milan? {Ed001's Note - until it is signed it is not done and dusted.}

Im happy with our signings this summer but we need a striker and a winger if we are to challenge for top four. Reports in suggest we have enquire about valbuena. Imo we're still miles away from the manx and chelsea, could overtake arsenal though

Do you mean Manx as in Isle of Man or Mancs as in from the other end of the East Lancs - It is not hard to me better than the IOM as I watched them against Guernsey recently and star striker Callum Morrissey couldn't hit a tiled floor with a bladder full of piss - FYI the Isle of Mans greatest ever footballer is Justin Jackson yes "The Real Jacko" just ask any Hearts or Wycombe fans who may remember his 37 pro appearances.

Hi Ed's
Do you think KK/DC would be interested in Lukas Podolski - now that he is for sale due to his clubs financial situation?
He surely knows where the goal is, and he just turned 26....

YNWA
Red Hoffa {Ed001's Note - I doubt it to be honest, his wages aren't small and it would be a huge risk as he has never played to the same level for a club as he does for his country.}

23 Aug 2011 19:23:22
Whilst I am pleased with the Coates rumours, you have to laugh at the general tone of response regarding this. Just because he's South American and got recognition in the Copa America doesn't mean to say he's the greates thing since Tommy Smith.

Both Dann and cahill remain quality centre halfs but in no doubt if we sign one of these subsequent to the Coates rumours, there will be a cavalcade of moaning.

Reading between the lines, the fee for Coates is far less than what we'd have to pay for either Cahill or Dann, hence the interest and potential punt.

Ozone.

I think it's worth a risk on a potentially amazing player as we have Carra and Agger with Skrtel as back up. It's worth a risk for us with CB but for wingers or CMs we need proven players as we could not rely on last years squad.

Edin Dzeko is a prime example of who's price,ability,no pace,couldn't hit a barn door waste of money. Always said to my mate he's just lacking in confidence he'll come good,now look at him. I think he got more s**t off fans and journo's simply because when he's tall and looked a bit ungainly,just like Carroll till he hit his straps. It really does seem that tall players,especially forwards for what ever reason get more stick and people are quick to jump on them more them normal or average size players. Might sound simplistic but i guarante just like Dzeko,once Carroll starts to fire and he's improved in both games he's played,all will be forgiven.Just like Stewart Downing has for him coming instead of Mata who got ripped to shreds on here by most fans until they got of their FIFA games and actually see him play for us. Gary Cahill,if he's not playing for us,and i really hope he aint because it prob mean Coates wont be here,but watch what Andy will do to Cahill. Destroy him. Jonson6

Ok, we get it, you are a fan of Carroll.

Chris in Tamworth

Downing is one of the best wingers on Fifa 11 rated at 81, Mata is also 81, but their are about 40 specific seperate attributes that are scored and scrored accruately to their real life counterparts. Fifa overal stats and players ability from stride patern, strength, balance, dribbling technique etc etc etc is scored and animated closer than you belive to the real players. Its system of scoring is much closer than peoples opinions - there are teams of geeks and scouts that rate the individual players constantly throughout the season that have no bias. Apart from the cover player (Kaka) the majoirty of EPL players are scored very accurately, go check them out if you dont believe it.

Chris in Tamworth, aren't you that fella who phones talksport all the time? {Ed002's Note - I knoew there was something I was going to ask. I was in the car a couple of weeks ago and one morning there was a "Chris from Tamworth" on the radio in crystal clear DAB.}

23 Aug 2011 17:34:40
I think Bellamy would be a very astute signing were it to happen. I was looking at the team against Arsenal and thinking about how we have very few attacking players who can dribble at pace at the opposition defence - Suarez and Downing are the only ones who do this. Having Bellamy on the bench would give us a fresh pair of legs to run at defenders when we need something a little different. His signing could also allow us to sell N'Gog, recouping £4 million, and his age means he won't be much of a hindrance to the promising strikers such as Morgan and Sterling in the reserves. He obviously wouldn't be a player who transforms the team but would be a decent back up option to have

The funny thing about Aquilani is we had the chance to sign Millner & Adam Johnson but raffer thought 16 Millo for the two English players was 2 much so instead spent 18 MIllion + on an Injured player there you have it

Because of a genius called Rafael Benitez

Yes also rafa could have signed david villa. david silva but instead signed ngog and riera there you have it.....dell end

Hey dummy the only reason yu know we could've signed those guys isbc Rafa had targeted them in the first place. Lack of money dictated the outcomes.

Rafa is a legend in my eyes H&G fu*ked up Liverpool hard in so many ways, we are now repairing ourselves.
K79

Rafa signed Reina, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Maxi, who all still feature in the current team... And he brought Kenny Dalglish back into the football club, while completely over hauling the youth team set-up. Oh, and he took us to two European Cup finals in 6 years. Have a little respect.

He had the money at the time but bought Aquilani thats my point

Aquilani has full right to blast LFC for the way we treated him, Roy Hodgson is the main culprit here, there is no f**king point in buying a player and sending him out on loan coz he came injured. If thats the case, Gerrard and Agger would be spread out to clubs as we know how injury prone they can be!!!!. Carroll needs to be slated, how is it that Aguero who cost only a few 6-7M more than Carroll come on and score 2 and set up 1 in his first match while our man hasnt even created a chance let alone score. Mind you Carroll hasnt moved from the country at all i.e. Newcastle to LFC, Aguero naturally has to adapt to the English way since Spanish league is different. You fans say lets judge at the end of the season, yes lets do that when the likes of Chelsea and City are wisely purchasing players who deliver from the offset, the only players worth mentioning in that sense so far are Downing and Suarez as we know...

-------------------------------------------------

What are you on about, Woy didn't buy the Italian. Wisely purchasing? Roughly interpreted as 'beneficiaries of the petro chemical industry with cashflow in abundance. Currently finding ways around the FIFA fair play rules through naming rights and other back door ways to bolster revenues in order to acquire indulgent merceneries'.

Kenny's putting a squad together, if we land the rumoured Coates and add an attacking right sided forward, we're in business for the league.

Furthermore, the Aguero fee may have ben a bit more than Carrolls but his wages are three times more. I'm not Carrolls greatest fan but you have to look beyond the price tag. A rotation system similar to what Kenny did against Arsenal is only what whiskey nose has been doing for years and its worked a treat for him. In my opinion Carroll's a great impact player in a squad and will work perfectly in a squad situation with a view to the season as a whole.

Ozone.

I'm sick of players being judged on their price tag. So what if Carroll cost 35m? He causes problems for defenders and will be a threat and score goals for perhaps 10 years at our club. If a club pays a lot of money for someone does that make them a worse player? If Aguero had cost City 100million would he be any worse a player? No, judging a player against his price tag is a pointless way to assess talent

Red Ollie

Roy just bought Shane Long... Excellent buy. What does that say. Was he on a mission to destroy LFC buying Poulsen, Konchesky & co....

Still trying to make yourself feel better about Carroll? Long cost 7m and will score more goals this season than Carroll.

Long will not score more goals then carroll, id put at lease 50 quid on that. some people are completly oblivious 2 what goes on in football

Red P

Put your money were your mouth is Red P.

Shane Long will score more goals than Andy Carroll in my opinion. The bottom line is Shane Long cost £28 mil less than Carroll. Shane Long can take a season to adapt at that price. When you are the 8th most expensive player in the history of football, you better hit the ground running!

Ash

Did the Aguero fan see the game on Sunday he missed two gilt edged chances that I could have put in. If Carroll had missed two chances like that there'd be internet lynch mobs out for blood. A wise man once said There's nowt so blind as those who will not see.

Only reason carroll cost 35 mill is because it was final day of transfer window and newcastle knew we were getting 50 mill for torres so they could hold us to ransom for carroll because we had to replace torres the same day. if we had sold torres for 35 mill we would have got carrol for 20 mill so the fee has absolutely nothing to do with the player. he will be a top player for liverpool, get away from the price tag and just back the player if you are actually a FAN

ryanmc73

@Ryanmc73 - The point is, whatever the value, if we were quoted that for Carroll, we should have sold Torres and sat on the money (as our season was realistically all but over) and spent it in the summer. I think you need to remind yourself what a £35 mil pound player looks like. Its amazing what half a season in the Prem and 11 goals will do to an English players value. And I am a fan, but a fan with his own opinions.

Ash

Regarding the Coates rumours, there seems be some confusion and hoping the Eds could clear it up.

I have heard we have tabled a bid that was agreed in principle on the understanding that City dont make an improved offer, and his father is currently in England to discuss terms. Mancini is known to be a fan of Coates but has been told by Marwood & Cook that following the purchase of Nasri, there will be no more additions.

So eds your thoughts, am I talking complete rubbish ? If not have we or City made a bid yet, and if not what are chances that either or both us will ?

Instead of focusing on slagging off Aquilani for being (shock horror!) a money grabbing footballer, I prefer to focus on the complete numpties who decided to spend so much money on him in the first place!

What an unbelievabley irresponsible and awful decision on behalf of Liverpool Football Club it was.

Take a bow Rafa Benitez and Rick Parry.

Question for all Reds before judging the player:
If you were playing for a mid-table Serie A team and had a chronic ankle problem and wasnt sure when (or even if) you would be back playing again, and a couple of laughing boys approached you from a foreign team offering mega-bucks to sign for them, what would you do?!

Its Rafa and Parry who should be taking our applause for this one. Not the player.

Red G

Yes you're right mate.
Mind you, every club has suffered. Paid big money for a player and it hasnt come off.
The only problem being these days, the gamble is a very costly one. The players and agents are ******* coining it in.
The Real KB

Not that I like Rick Parry, but I think you will find that Aquilani was bought in August 2009 and Parry had already left. If I remember right, it was the January or February (2009) that it was announced he was leaving and he was then basically on gardening leave until the end of the season.
Rafa was the one that bought Aquilani.
His hand was forced as he was told he was not getting any money from the sale of Alonso.
We needed to try and replace him with a playmaker, but basically had squat money top do so.
Rafa took a risk on Aquilani, that while although he was injured he would eventually be fit and we would be getting a player worth 3-4 times what we had paid for him.
If you want to blame anyone for Aquilani then look no further than the previous owners (H&G)

I knew that Houllier & Benitez were slowly making our club a joke. But does that make me not a true supporter or just intelligent?

Good shout. I kinda realised just after my post that Parry had just left, but he was still a bit of a person anyway!

Thanks for the correction chap, although I disagree on the H&G front (idiots as they were). It was all the work of Rafa the Gaffa. H&G had no knowledge of fotballers and Rafa had complete control of transfers I seem to remember

Red G

Makes you thick as s**t lad if you think two managers would want too amke the club they are currently at a joke you toob.

RED WILL
Makes no sense at all

Did Rafa know that Aquilani was going to be a soft-c*ck and whimper at training because it was too hard? Of course not - he took a punt and it turned out bad - not all Rafa's fault. Aquilani has been a failure at LFC primarily because he is soft. I wouldn't play someone if I thought they weren't going to fight for the ball in a game.

SSN understands Chelsea have made a bid for Alvaro Pereira!! Roman is really backing AVB this summer. If that deal and Modric deal happens that's over £100m he would have spent this summer with Mata and Lukaku already signed up.

Soon we'll have people on here complaining FSG haven't spent enough if those deals go through.

RedSG

I'd say that Prick Parry has a lot to answer for concerning the Reds! An awful lot! Alphared

Lol. AVB has taken one look at Mr Cheryl Cole and realised he is toss.

skertel is better than dann. hes underrated. i bet you if u asked harry redknapp if he could have dann or skertel hed say skertel. or most other managers in the prem or other top leagues {Ed009's Note - Oh well if Happy 'Arry says it...}

I thought he was "honest" Harry on this site :-)

Dawkins

For one your spelling skrtel wrong and hes nothing compared to dann

Dann is infinately better because he is a scouser. Skrtel is rubbish.... . I always felt sorry for Skrtel, wasting his time at LFC. Sign Dann and get over it. No matter how bad he plays (like Carra) all will be forgotten.

Skyrtle centre back who can't head a ball!
Zonal marking, man to man marking from free kicks and corners it made no difference it would still end up in the back of our net. You can't have two players in the centre Carra and Skyrtle who can't head a ball properly. Carra was okay when he was younger and alongside a great header of the ball in big Sammi:
This season we will have a new more balanced pairing that can also offer a threat offensively from corners and free kicks.

Brian Durand just retweeted something from @theemarkkelly, he said that Godin is coming then corrected himself and said Coates is coming. Have we found Macca's source?

More likely some guy is using Macca's info and saying it's his own, dunno if you tweet Macca but (unless you are Mark Kelly) I'd get onto him, it's not on.

Hillsboro petition now goes b4 Backbench business committee to decide if put before parliament. Use this to lobby & make sure it is

To:
Natascha Engel (Derbyshire) engeln@parliament.uk
Mr Peter Bone (Wellingborough) bonep@parliament.uk
Philip Davies (Shipley) daviesp@parliament.uk
Jane Ellison (Battersea) jane.ellison.mp@parliament.uk
John Hemming (Birmingham) hemmingj@parliament.uk
Mr Philip Hollobone (Kettering) philip.hollobone.mp@parliament.uk
Ian Mearns (Gateshead) ian.mearns.mp@parliament.uk
Mr George Mudie (Leeds East) george@gmudie.fsnet.co.uk and mudieg@parliament.uk

Dear Backbench Business Committee Member,

As you will be no doubt aware, the e-petition calling for the full disclosure of all government documents relating to the 1989 Hillsborough disaster has passed the 100,000 signature mark needed to trigger a debate by the Backbench Business Committee.

The petition relates to a request under the Freedom of Information Act made to the Cabinet Office, requesting correspondence between then Home Secretary Douglas Hurd and Prime Minister at the time Margaret Thatcher about the disaster and the aftermath – as well as minutes of Cabinet meetings where it may have been discussed.

This request was initially refused by the Cabinet Office as they claimed that disclosure would impact negatively on the freedom with which ministers can engage in "free and frank discussions", and on the convention of collective responsibility.

This Cabinet Office’s refusal was subsequently taken to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) on appeal, with the Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, ruling in favour of the enquirer that these documents should be released under the Freedom of Information legislation.

The Cabinet Office’s argument against disclosure is flawed in several key areas. The Information Commissioner noted in his ruling that the Government’s 30 year rule on releasing documents is currently under review with a plan to reduce this to 20 years – which would mean that the documents would be eligible for release anyway. Any further delay only adds to the hurt of those affected. The Cabinet Office also said that documents should be released to the Hillsborough Independent Panel prior to being released. However, the terms of reference of the panel state that it would exclude “information indicating the views of ministers, where release would prejudice the convention of Cabinet collective responsibility†– meaning that some or all of these documents requested under FOI may not be eligible for release by the Panel.

At the last possible moment, the Cabinet Office has appealed the Information Commissioner’s ruling which has caused yet more pain and anguish to those affected by the disaster. The Cabinet Office’s approach to this whole issue has been nothing short of deliberately obstructive with little regard for those affected.

The families of those who died, as well as the often forgotten victims – who survived that day but continue to carry the emotional and psychological scars – have waited 22 years to try and find out the truth of what happened on April 15 1989. There are many questions left unanswered, such as the emergency service response to the disaster. These documents may help the families and survivors piece together what happened. It is the least that they deserve.

You, as a member of this Committee, now have the opportunity to help these people. This petition is only the second to reach the required number of signatures and the speed in which it was achieved underlines the strength of public feeling that accompanies it.

The survivors and bereaved both support this petition. The level of dignity they have shown needs commending and refusing this petition a parliamentary debate would be a massive snub to not only them, but every other person who added their name to it.

I ask you to recognise the value of this request in the same way that the Information Commissioner has, and allow this petition to be debated in the Commons. To not allow it to full debate would leave suspicions as to what is contained in the documents and the reasons that the Government do not want them released, as well as leaving the e-petition scheme open to accusations that it is tokenistic empowerment.

I trust that you will make the right and moral decision.

Yours sincerely,

Lobby'd via email..lets hope they follow this through in its entirity and gain some justice, not only for the 96 and their families but also other families and friends effected by this horrific tragedy.

JFT96 YNWA (any of you!!!!)

Macca,

Its time to fess up and reveal your source as @theemarkkelly. It is the most incredible coincidence if he isn't and miraculously he is always just ahead of you in his predictions. Wierd don't you think? Godin signing one minute then Coates and then blames the mistake on a spelling error? As far as I see it that is one hell of a spelling mistake.

I dont mind if kuyt goes our squad is becoming jam packed of first team players. E.g, central mid. Gerrard, lucas, adam, meireles, henderson. And our defence, aureilio, kelly, skrtel. Kuyt is naturally a striker. He's getting old we could cash in and get maybe 10-15 million.

We could put that towards Sturridge. But Kuyt deserves a trophey here before he leaves.

Paul The Gooch

Kuyt one of the reason's we haven't won a trophy.

23 Aug 2011 15:37:27
Hi Ed,

Taken from Macca's original list (and i have added Jones and Friedel):

Young - 20mil
Downing - 20 mil
Clichy or Enrique - 5.5 mil
Adam - 7-9mil
Jones - 20 mil
Friedel - Free
Total - 74.5

Transfers that have occured:

Henderson - 15.6mil
Adam - 7-9mil
Downing - 20mil
Doni - 1mil?
Enrique - 5.5mil
Total - 51.1

You could argue that the money that was going to be spent on Young, was transfered to Henderson(although i believe we would have brought them both if Young wanted to come).
But based on my calculations we should have 20 mil still to spend according to the original list, so i was just wondering why is it now we are reliant on who is going out rather than spending that 20mil that would have been spent on Jones. Btw im just posting this based on an theory, im completely happy with what we have done in the transfer market.

Jimmy YNWA

Don't forget that there has been considerable amounts of money spent getting rid of squad players, paying off contracts etc. And I'm not sure that there was a list as such before the window opened.

Nacional have recognised that the player will be leaving, but I am not sure what offers have been made and/or accepted. Hi Ed's!
Don't you think LFC should consider Lukas Podolski now that FC Køln may be forced to sell him of financisl reasons?
He turned 26 in June, and nobody could possibly doubt his qualities as a goalgetter??

Red Hoffa {Ed001's Note - it is very reasonable to doubt his qualities, he has failed miserably to perform at a big club in the past. It would be a huge risk to buy him.}

I would love liverpool to get him. he would be fantastic with or without a risk

Hope all these rumours linking us with forlan, bellamy and owen are not true, it was bad enough signing carroll, henderson and adam.

Carrol is young and for a big lad falls down far to easily but he's only young and has great potential, Adam is good just need's to sort his passing out and track back abit faster but i gotta agree with you henderson looks lost maybe a year in the reserves would do him the world of good...Like in the old days

23 Aug 2011 15:58:49
hi ed this one needs putting to bed, bellamy will not be coming back.why would we want him we are on the up, and he is way in the passed,forward and not back is the way to go.we do need a CB to come in,but who i just dont know anymone lol.and a striker i hope it works out we get both but we will just have to wait an see, but i do think it will happen.come on king kenny shock us with 2 more big signing.jay essex red for life red till dead

Kenny does tend to do strange things, i.e. David Speedie!!

But you cannot deny he is a quality player and fast although he is nuttier than squirrel sh*t

Wouldn't this be nice kuyt out 8mil Bellamy & Johnson in roughly 20mil net spend of 12 everybody is a winner

Kopman

More than twice he wage bill as well! We need Cole out or loaned then Bellamy's cost is sorted.
Ta

Dirk is one of the hardest workin players in our side, an a tru red supporter! we need more players wit his attitude so, no it wouldn be nice

Kuyt is a waste of space.

Funny how everyone of you so called fans loved and praised him when he slotted 3 past united

MJ

Cant believe the way so called lfc fans talk about our hardest working players ie, lucas, kuyt, and even gerrard and reina, they always give 100% in every game and as soon as a bit of transfare talk appears, fans always seem to turn on the player, not all fans but some, its not the players fault that its there name in the rumours section on any given day, kuyt is someone that every club needs, solid hard worker that sets a standard on work rate for every player! it was lucas a few weeks back and reina before that! crazy!

Tap-in's. Morgan would have got a hattrick that day.

Can't believe so-called LFC fans cannot realise why we have not won anything in ages. I pull my hair out everytime I watch Kuyt. Yes nice guy, runs all game... but as slow as an ox with less skill than my 4 year old. Do we want to win the EPL or finish 6th with avg players? You lot decide. Kuyt is not good enough. Neither is Lucas. Why were we always called a 2 man team with Gerrard & Torres? Where were your Kuyt's, Lucas's etc etc. Take the glasses off and ask why we are where we are. Yes, give support, but be realistic - don't make them something they not.

Unless we got the likes of Hazard to replace him then i'd settle for it but he's been good for LFC and he still is a good player who doesnt stop running also to the guy who said Morgan could of scored those goals... 1. he's good but not that good he would've got bounced by united and 2. He's not a poacher like kuyt so would not of got into those position's he loves his long shots to much

23 Aug 2011 15:17:58

Aquilani is a disgrace. We will lose loads on original transfer fee & prob have to pay him 1m to soften the blow of reduced wages!! & in the mean time had rave reviews last season in loan & become azzurri regular!! & yet loads of "fans" on here have him as our saviour.

Yet lads who want to actually play for our great club get slaughtered on this site.

Jimbob

Like Poulsen?

Totally agreee mate...I think the more people that get involved in realising what a piece of money grabbing sh*t this guy is the better....we should all stick by the players that want to play for us and criticise mercenaries like Aqualani!!!!!

Killerpool

Lads, I think you're being a bit naive there. The player has a contract, and is due whatever the terms are. If you're gonna have a go, blame the previous management for giving him the contract in the first place.
The Real KB

Write the money/wages off. Put him on the bench for the reserves and ruin his career. A drop in the ocean for Henry & co but proves a point.

He's a disgrace, if he wants to go so be it. The £1million euro sweetner is a sickener.

With regard to the current economic climate and the plight of the ordinary working man, that aspect of the deal is a bitter pill to swallow.

Ozone {Ed002's Note - I have to say that none of this should really come as a shock. It was only a matter of time.}

23 Aug 2011 15:07:38
hey guys, ok im not suggesting that liverpool have enquired or looked at hazzard however hazzard has made it clear he wont be moving to the emirates, he'd be a sensation at anfield with carroll nd suarez!

If you read the quotes, he hasn't said he won't be going to the Emirates this year: it's just nonsense headlines to attract your interest. Look at the quotes attributed to Kuyt - says he's happy where he is but who knows...basically what Hazzard said too.

23 Aug 2011 14:45:04
Hi Eds

Is it just me, but even though we 25 midfielders, to me we still seem light, eg raul has this inner turmoil, with his wages (even tho he has looked decent in the first 2 games) aquaman, has moreorless gone, dont care what anyone says, for a team challenging for honours, spearing isnt good enough, lucas is a water carrier (but i think people are viewing him threw rose tinted glasses, a little..adam, still finding his feet, etc, etc..Apart from Stevie, im not looking at our mid and seeing, a powerful, classy, worker in there..i know i may get shot down for this, but do you think another CM is on the cards?
ps - i have been really impressed with downing, when i was unsure he would cut it at our place.

Cheers

Ray
-----------------------------------------------
No offense Ray mate but this is bullsh*t.

The only problem we have with our midfielders, is were to fit them in. Lucas a "water carrier" is this the same Lucas who won our player of the year?And the same Lucas who's a regular in the Brazil national team?

The only teams that probably have a better midfield than us, is City and Chelski (maybe). Utd have Anderson, Carrick, Cleverly, Gibson. Arsenal have Primpong, Song, Diaby, Wiltshere and Ramsey. We have Gerrard, Adam, Hendo, Lucas, Mireles and Spearing. So me thinks that our midfield looks as good or even better than Utd, Arsenal and Spurs.

Blair Mayne YNWA

I think you'll find united have fletcher, giggs and park can play there as well....

Mavis!

Lucas the hero. He will win the EPL single handedly. Everybody loves a tryer. Kuyt to score 30 goals this season..... not

Take the glasses off. Gotta be ruthless to win things. Nice guys finish last.

Fletcher and Giggs are finished Mavis mate. Park is average at best.

Blair Mayne YNWA

How is fletcher finished? It was a virus not a destroyed ankle or knee he'll be back to his destructive best in a few weeks.
And I'm pretty sure giggs showed last night he can still pick a pass out
And park is our kuyt he's not the greatest player in the world but he's a hard worker that every team needs

Mavis!

To those slating adam as average. One thing about him is whenever he gets the ball he's always looking to get the ball forward and to attack, rather than knock it around in front of the opposition.

We love Charlie. He is the man. Lay off.

Johnson is not up for sale, city want at least two players fo each posistion. The only way johnson would be sold is if he haded in a transfer request but even then city probably wouldn't do business with any prem team they see as competition.

Good test of if Johnson is playing for the love of the game or money. Surely he can see Man'wini' doesnt like him.

23 Aug 2011 14:31:09
Hopefully Man CIty don't offer obscene wages. That could be the only stumbing block, since we can guarantee first team football. Not sure he would get straight into the city team. On a sepearate note, Ed do you think there has to be some sort of wage cap introduced, whats going on at City is ridiculous.. It is partly jealousy i know. But we can see its already creating a problem. When they come to sell the players they bought and gave ridiclous wages, they just cant get rid. They must have a squad of about 50 players. I hope the FFP rules help to put a stop to this. El P {Ed002's Note - I doubt we will see a wage cap.}

23 Aug 2011 14:29:16
I am pretty sure Man City won't bid for Coates. They already bought Savic and Kolo Toure is expected to be back in September. Coates will join Liverpool.

After getting excited at the prospect of us signing Coates I thought I'd look him up on you tube (off sick today). The videos that I saw show him being excellent in the air but he hoofs the ball even more than carra. Does anyone know any more than my 5 minutes of research on him?

The only info i can give you is that hes very much like hyypia hes even the exact height but at years of age im sure he can adapt to stop hoofin the ball up

Just to convey the view of some Birmingham fans re. Scott Dann; he had a good start to the season, formed an excellent partnership with Roger Johnson but injured his hamstring playing in the league cup semi in January. His hamstring was operated on and he has yet to prove his fitness having not played since January.

The general view is that he would be a significant risk at the moment and many clubs may prefer to wait until January before taking a chance on him. There is also a view that while he and Johnson operated well together, the sum may be greater than the value of the parts. They do complement each other very well. Any club who goes in for him now would be taking a big risk.

Shawcross? Dann? These are average players in the mould of Carroll, Henderson, Adam, Downing. Go for big players kk, youve already spent millions dont waste any more!!

You seem to know as much about football as George W Bush and have roughly the same I.Q.
K79

As much as I understand your discontent at the "British only/Premiership players" policy, I don't agree that downing (Especially) and Adam are average players.

And as much as I criticize Carroll for the type of player he is, I believe he and Henderson need time to establish themselves and win us fans over. They're both young.(ER) than even me (24).

Adam gets fatigued easy, as do Carroll and Henderson. I can't say the same for Downing or Enrique. But you have to realize that it will take time to adapt to a more rigorous training regime than they're used to.

I expect we'll buy at least one player from abroad. Maybe then will you be content.

Like who?

I swear there seems to be something wrong with a minority of "supporters" nowadays. I don't know if it's just young people growing up in a era where the likes of Man City and Chelsea throw money about everywhere and buy success. Liverpool are not like that! What's wrong with how we did it before, Kenny will lay the foundations and then someone will come from with in (maybe Carra) and build our Fortress again!!

Liverpool have been looking for a CB for most of this window and have now let Soto go to wolfsburg would we have let the big greek leave the club if we did not have a player lined up for that position ?

The counter to this could be that we have Kelly and, currently, Wilson as further back up, plus Wisdom & Coady who KD gave some encouragement to alst season, but I agree we look a little light in that area. There have been a few noises recently to distance us from both Dann and Cahill, presumably to try and avoid the media stigma of "missing out" on them when they go elsewhere. Coates would be a good choice I think, and certainly preferable to Shawcross.

I'm sure Henry is only hoping for a top 4 finish this year.
There isn't going to be any marque signings that some posters seem to have a hard on for.
Carroll didn't ask to be sold for 35mil , I'm sure he'd probably be the first to tell you that he's not worth that YET!
Same goes for hendo , so give them a chance there here for the future.
A lot of people said Enrique wasn't good enough yet he's probably been our best player so far , downing aswell has started well.
It's about building a squad , and that is what kenny is doing.
Players have gone that you wouldn't even want in the reserves never mind our starting eleven.
Top 4 this year then next year 1 or 2 "marquee" signings are possible.

LAVERS

I agree mate what a chance we have to break back into the top 4 this season maybe a little higher ;) but we should get behind the team no matter what and not to listen to the manc's or anyone else who love to see us fight among ourselves and ive no doubt they are the ones starting all the negativity.

Sorry if i am really behind, but ED or anyone else, can someone tell me what happened to the young Mexican guy we had for 10 day trial?? Can't remember his name but he was meant to a very talented young player.

23 Aug 2011 12:44:03
It's not Carrolls fault that he cost £35 million. The price tag is all the moaners problem. He was also bought for his strength and hold up play to bring in the midfielders more. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't hit 15 goals this season but if he assists alot more I believe that makes him a success. As we all know its a team effort and not about the individuals and if he makes the team better then thats good enough for me. Also Henderson is one for the future. The money we paid is the going rate for young, english international talent. He needs time to settle in and gel with the team. Young lad with a new team and a new city. Can be daunting.

I would honestly prefer G.Cahill and R.shawcross or Dann to sign for liverpool as they have premiership experience and would slot perfectly into our system and also enough of the hoofing from Carragher and sometimes Skretel. We would have carragher (age not on his side), Cahill, Kelly,Shawcross or Dann, Agger,Wisdom and maybe Coady. Liverpool should sell IMO(to be able to buy 2CB,1RW,1FW to win the premiership i say this yearitself, don`t need to wait next year ect. Remember kenny took a losing team without confidence from Hodgson made them play with confidence in a short lapse of time ): Skretel,Wilson,Degen,Insua,Poulsen, Ngog,Jones,Aurelio(wages & Clinic fees for not playing) maybe Maxi or cole

whats all the fuss over bellamy ,we had him ,hsd his chance,and moved on we dont need seconds ,and it never as good second time around move on with this new team ,and back it

Would you take Alonso back ?

We were all talking about re-signing Riise at the start of the transfer window, wern't we?
Some of us wanted Owen back.
I think there are some people (including myself) who would welcome Torres back, only at a tasty profit of course!
We would certainly welcome Alonso back.
We also tried to re-sign Friedel!
Fowler resigned for us.
Heck, we could probably resign Danny Murphy and we'd be praising Dalglish.

And I honestly think even if we get Bellamy on loan with City paying a share of his wages, he would be a very good addition to the squad. Certainly I know who I'd prefer him or Ngog, who looks likely to go thankfully. Craig scores goals naturally, and he has a lot of experience which Arsenal for worse, and United for better, have demonstrated is vital.
Proven premiership player - how many times have you heard that phrase this summer?

I think signing Cahill would be a great signing for the club as we defo need someone who can slot straight in to CB role. We defo need someone who can play RW or ST but need to be creative, as when i watched us in the first have against Arsenal we looked comfortable but no real penetration. We currently have 3 players who can in a moment change a game, Suarez, Downing and Gerrard but still require 1 more to unlock a stubborn defense on a crap away game. This in all will help LFC collect at least 10 more points a season and turn some draws into wins and some losses into draws. YNWA. Bazza Mac

can anyone tell what sort of cb coates is please and who would you liken him to? Is he fast ,strong, good in the air, a ball player? I havent seen much of the boy and everyone looks awsome on youtube.

He is fast strong good in the air and good and comfortable on the ball. The lad has a lot of potential, im basing this on the copa america havent seen him for Nacional which is the most important place to see him.The uruguaians certainly think hess going to be world class.

Cheers

Ray

What a crap post.

Will everyone give it a rest bout who we av an who we sign,we av the king to do that, stop trying to ruin every good players confidence an get behind the team we so much love, yous all sound like that other lot from up the east lands road, be a red and support the team stop trying to be a fantasy football manager.

Rubbish. We have more than enough quality midfielders.

Downing is also very adept at playing in the centre, btw. So if you ever have a crisis of faith in our midfield again, sleep soundly knowing Downing will play there if need be.

Martin

Have to agree the balance does not yet seem quite right but given the quality of the players we have maybe it will in time. A proper DM might help though.

I don't think we are light. The second half of last season we did really well with a midfield that was based on Lucas, Gerrard and Meireles with support from Spearing and Maxi.

We've added Adam and Henderson to that. We now have lots of options, all of them better than anything we had last year apart from the first choice.

With 5 players in contention to start and a couple more decent backups, I just see strength in depth which is exactly what I didn't see last year.

Our one consistent weakness last year was our left flank, which is also now nicely sorted.

EuroRed

Our further options were Poulsen, Jovanovic,

I think people seem to compare Alonso and Mascherano against are current 2 sitters and think we are weak. The fact is Lucas and Adam are more than capable and better than Anderson / Carrick, Sandro/Huddleston, but not quite as good as Song/Wilshire, Chelsea's new to be midfield or Citys but I would say we're 3rd best. The players around the centremids make the difference hence how utd win the league most years as their wingers and strikers are top draw. We now have top wingers and strikers and probably the best if not top 2 of back 5 (inc keeper) so we are strong enough just need the team to gel and Stevie to return on top form for most of the season and if so we will be challenging I have no doubt about that. Especially as most games are on Saturdays and there is no European travels.

I take it you didn't vote for Lucas then when he won player of the season?

People have their own opinions and if they think that kk wasted his money on carrol and henderson (around 50-55million) they are entitled to say so. I for one agree that that sort of money could have been spent more wisely.

Especially hendersson,

We all know we paid to much for Carroll but we were in a corner and had recieved way over the odds for Torres. I believe Henderson cost 16 mill + add ons. Probably not far out for such a talented young player.
CR

...and you are?

On who? Who was available at ten minutes before the window closed who was better than carrol even for 35m? And it wasn't even your money so what's the problem?

If you look at it like this:- We swapped Babel and Torres for Suarez and Carroll. I think we did OK out of it.

MUSHROOM

Well carroll didnt play much of last season did he, they could have kept the 35 milion till the summer and signed a top quality striker. Sure we play better without carroll in the team so he was well overpriced and over rated

Great start to season playing decent stuff, "fans" need to give hendo n Carroll a break, hendo needs time n Carroll will get goals. So get behind the squad instead of detracting.

Just take a minute 2 think where we were this time last year n who we bought (cole, poulsen, jovanovic, konchesky) n look at what we bought since new year. We have a lot to be thankful for.

I'm not the poster, but remember the nickname folks- it looks like Red November knows what he's on about, so that's one to add to the trustworthy list, with Macca.

{Ed002's Note - So how did his medical go?}

Hey Ed002, is it me and you- handbags at dawn??

Ok, RN didn't get the timing right, but be fair; no-one else was talking about Coates until Macca did yesterday- except this guy.

It wasn't 100% accurate, but he got the name and the fact that there seems to be a deal agreed in principle, as Macca said.

And the timing of the medical might only be a day or two out.
That's not so bad, surely? He's definitely on my 'pay attention' list, at least.

I think that your the same person just trying to get yourself more noticed. The way you type and place your grammar is very identical.

Titles and Cups are not won by teams, they are won by squad. Compared to last summer our squad is a lot stronger and all the fans should be happy. Last night's match we saw the bench strength of Man Utd. That is one of main the reasons they constantly outdo their opponents. King Kenny is making a good squad first and challenge for the top four. We can go for Marquee signings next summer or even January. But IMHO we are lacking a winger, a CB and a striker. With CB a top priority. I believe when the team gels we can do without the striker and winger for the time being. Steven Gerrad will also be enormous boost to the squad.. All in all a very good summer for us.

I know we don't like to see people quoting the bookies odd's but that is what I am about to do...

Yesterday Cahill was 1/2 to join Liverpool and 13/8 to join Arsenal.

Today it has moved to 1/3 Arsenal & 2/1 Liverpool.

Would be a real shame if we lost out on Cahill and bought Dann as he is not as good.

A month ago I was ahppy with our business and thought we done well but with Chelsea adding Lukaku, Modric & Mata. Arsenal adding Gervinio, Cahill, M'Villa & Hazard with man City having bought Kun and Man U with Jones (who looked great last night!) & Young one can't help but feel we are still a top 7 not 4 team.

Did you make this up as you were going along? Jones looked great? Tottenham looked like a dog's dinner to me!

Why pay 20m for hendo if he will not get a game when gerrard is fit? That money could have been well spent along with the carroll money. I agree with previous posts that suarez alongside bellamy would be an awesome partnership.

It seems you have no clue about football or long term goals for LFC. Henderson is a very good YOUNG footballer who has just broken into the England set-up. He has moved from his boyhood club (which he must love) to join LFC not for more money but, to win trophies and advance his career. So why do you type such crap, to support him and your club? Or because you are a media lead sheep?

Andy Carroll also left his boyhood club for us and yet some so called LFC fans think they help LFC by bit*hing about some of our young talents who are two games into a very long season.

This is not FM, it is real life and as many LFC fans have said 'look how far we have come in a year'. I am extremely please with the direction the club is taking but, am extremely upset that some fans follow (like sheep) media lead stories about over priced players etc by people who simply don't have a clue.

If you want to moan become and Arsenal fan, if you want instant success follow Man City but if you want to be a fan of LFC BACK YOUR TEAM FULLY, then wait until next summer to attempt to view where we need to improve.

Moaning about Carroll & Henderson at this point in time just highlights to me (whilst you may like Liverpool) you know sweet F.A about football.

Henderson is a player for the future and we didn't pay 20m for him.

First of all centre back my preference would be cahill or coates if not both,I hope we don't get our hopes up and end up with shawcross.
Second don't see why fans always want to see ex players back who didnt really achieve much first time round???Have Yossi and bellamy improved since leaving liverpool or have i missed something.
I would love to see daniel sturridge at the club and if a deal could be struck with chelsea over raul Miereles then why not.
I would like to see kuyt end his career with us but if he fancies a move , and if the money is right who would begrudge him that..
Would love adam johnson for the right wing.but i am not sure if kenny see's this as a priority. Personally I think Kelly is looking better and better and him and johnson are equally comfortable at going forward as they are defending.So there may be no rush.
Coates looks a real talent maybe edging cahill in my eyes due to his age but cahill has more expierience in the prem. I really hope we get one of these two...fingers crossed..
Dave

Wouldn't those 2 do a good job for a couple of years, until some of our youngsters were ready?

Paul R

Mate I personally didn't think they did a good enough job when they were hear first time...Yossi was inconsistent to say the least and has hardly kicked a ball in a year. Who would he replace? would he play regularly? are squad is stronger than last year and he couldnt get into that. Bellamy is a good player but i think his best days are way gone. And just as people say Kuyt's workrate is infectious so is bellamys constant moaning.I would have a young hungry sturridge with a point to prove anyday.just my opinion ofcourse.

Good morning folks. Hope i don't offend anybody with this post. Sebastian coates rumours seem pretty unfounded and because Suarez is a team mate, someone somewhere is making a connection.
As lots of people are aware, wikipedia have a profile of Coates and additional info which states Liverpool have shown a interest after speaking to Suarez who recommends the move.

That's where this rumour has started i feel and as everybody knows Wikipedia is as dodgy as a "Monkey" selling Cosmetics.

Anyway here are some facts We are eventually getting rid of the deadwood and our priority is strengthing the defence. We will buy both Dann for 8m and Cahil for 15lm this will conclude our spending. Skitel will probably go in january2012

Henderson will come good as will carrol. Stirling will be brought in along with Suso both these young lads will bring exitement and talent in abundance. We have flannagan. Robinson and Kelly so lots of very good young talent commimg through just at the right time. Come on you REDS( HJ)

Jesus! I bought cosmetics off a monkey..
Now I'm terrified to use them after your post!

3rd poster what do you mean downing kept johnson out of the boro team johnson was in the youth team when downing left you clown
DCG

Abusive idiot - when Downing left for Aston Villa in Summer 2009 , Johnson had been a first team squad player for over four years , he made his debut on
17 March 2005 .

Who is the clown now ? Try searching for an education , it is probably not too late . Either that , or take up darts as your number one sport .

Just wanted to say cheers to the Greek. Always committed and strong. Despite being limited always tried his heart out in difficult times unlike some of our so called stars. Scored a few useful goals too.

Good luck at Wolfsberg )- PS can we have Raul at anfield)

Pompey red

Agreed. More of us should be saying this.

I think Henderson and Carroll are getting the same sort of abuse from certain fans that Lucas got when he first joined.

Henderson is not the finished article neither is Carroll for that matter, but they are young and with Kenny and Steve in charge they are in a fantastic place to learn and develop. I think Henderson will probably play a lot less when Gerrard is fit but will be a great player for us in the future and I also think Carroll will play better when Gerrard is fit and he has played more games with Suarez and Downing.

Its a team progressing not regressing like Arsenal lets be positive and if Macca is right Coates is the preferred choice for a CB purchase then I am massively happy with this summers purchases, we added quality and depth but above all we have what looks like great team spirit and a willingness to play for the shirt and that's purely down to Kenny the man has galvanised our club.

We may not win the league but just think back 12 months ago - what a contrast!!

Thank you Kenny, Steve, Damien, Tom and John for treating my club with the respect it deserves.

You Will Never Walk Alone jns

from twitter

BrianDurand56 Brian Durand
So LFC offered £7m for Coates, accepted by Nacional. Now that Man City are also interested Coates' father Peter is checking out both bids {Ed002's Note - You should Twitter him back and say "Manchester City's interest in Coates goes back to the beginning of the summer. There remains interest from elsewhere as well."}

23 Aug 2011 10:09:12
well c if i actually get a post posted here. {Ed002's Note - For someone who does not regularly post, this is not a nifty way to get your posts put up.}

have inter made an offer for kuyt? and if he leaves do people think kenny will go for a striker or playmaker? {Ed002's Note - Please take the time to read the other posts.}

23 Aug 2011 09:45:04
im a big fan of carroll even when he was at newcastle but he never gets a freekick its always against him, sureaz/kuyt enjoy playing in the same team i can see gerrard/carroll combo working i dont see a place for cole/ngog id prefer r sterling.

in the midfield adam hendo downing raul

at the back kelly carra agger enrique

we need cover at the back
not in the middle or up front
bellamy = no way
cahill = a+
dann = yes
coates = yes

mabey we could buy cahill after the bolton game?

23 Aug 2011 09:44:09
Lets get real, Cahill is a good player, not a great player. We have bought good players in Carroll and Henderson but they are not great players. We will never compete if we are only going to buy good players. We should be aiming higher and not wasting money on average players.

Ok genius let's see your list of players we should have bought.

Chris in Tamworth

We have to trust KK. He has done well for us in the past. He bought players like Houghton,Mcmahon,Barnes,Beardsley nd the list goes on. He bought good players and turn them into a prolific team. Even in Blackburn,he bought average players. We have been missing the consistensy and I believe KK and Steve Clarke will bring back the glory days. Carroll and Henderson will be just as good as Houghton and Aldridge in time to come. Maybe Carroll needs some tips and help from Rushie. If we do well this season and get into Euro championship,then more reknown and prolific players will be making a beeline to join us. Maybe Kevin Doyle will do well with us with KK at the helm. Like the time when he bought Aldridge from Oxford or Sutton for Blackburn. Let us support the team and trust in KK to knock Man Utd off the perch!

Messi, Iniesta, Hulk, Falcao, Nasri, Rolando, Mata. Kun, Long,

All these great players don't play in same team. We have Suarez, Gerrad, Reina.. Great players....

23 Aug 2011 09:41:39
now that the greek has left do you think we will buy two centre backs eds? or mabye give wilson/kelly a bigger role? {Ed002's Note - I would not expect two CBs.}

23 Aug 2011 09:28:26
THIS IS NOT A RUMOUR:

Guys didnt this thought came across your mind when we were linked with cahill "where will cahill play in the team, in whose place?"

carra will be there for atleast 2 more year(hopefully we will win a premier league in this period) and if we buy cahill who is no longer a PROSPECT BUT AN ESTABLISHED PLAYER he would want regular first team football which would be difficult as we have Carra and Agger and no one would even dare to stop playing Carra and he is really required to organize defense so it leaves Agger who is superb when he is fit. so what would we do with Cahiill? pay the money and keep him on bench?
Dont get me wrong over here he is fantastic player with good defensive capability and does score some goals (and some really good ones) but then he wont get the playing time that he deserves and also we wont be able to make full use of his services.But i would still be very happy if we get him though, that would be like making a statement that we are not just fighting for champions league place but we are looking for something more than that (may be a cup and champions league place).

now Yesterday i heard news on Sebastian Coastes I have not seen him play, but by read some stuff about him it looks like he is pretty good at what he does that is defending (watch him tackle opponents) so he is 20yrs old so it would be perfect for him to get to learn some tricks of the game for Carra while he is at LFC and get to know the premier league and then step up to it when Carra calls it a day (and may be for rotating players while we have Carra).
so hope we do get one of these two Coates or Cahill.
My mind says Coates but heart says Cahill.
Lets see
YNWA

I absolutely respect Carra and Gerrard for their commitment towards the club, they truely represent what liverpool actually is "A FAMILY".
YNWA
thank you eds :)

Good post. but don't you think we should be buying players that improve the team if possible?

Yes the likes of Carra have been good servants but he is coming towards the end and we suffer against quick passing teams.

Should Carra be in the team if there is someone better?

Sam armchair

Yes we should be buying players that would improve our quality.
Its true that do suffer against the quick teams but Carra is just not a defender he is the one who leads the defensive line he is one responsible for organizing it and to answer your last question if there is someone better who is better than Carra and if either he or his defensive partner is able to organize defense then it should happen.

23 Aug 2011 09:25:40
I really hope that i'm wrong but if Man City are in for Coates then he's not gonna sign for us is he. No-one can compete with them in the transfer market.

Coxy82 {Ed002's Note - He has a number of options available and there have been discussions with several clubs, it does not mean he will be joining Manchester City.}

Before Coates makes a decision on the offers he has, of course he'll talk to Suarez to get an insiders view of life at LFC. He'd be mad not to.

Suarez will give him a glowing report one hopes, and although City may offer higher wages, he's already seen Tevez' outburst about how he doesn't like Manchester etc, and will hear the rumours about big egos and Mancini being a 'cold' manager.

Be honest, if you were 20 years old and moving continents to a new club thousands of miles away from home, it would be good to have a respected Uruguay squad member in the same team, and a manager like Kenny to support as well as encourage you.

Macca doesn't talk rubbish, we all know that.
Unless another club comes in at the very last moment, or scuppers the deal like Man U did with Young, he'll be an LFC player by the end of the window.

23 Aug 2011 09:21:20
For those posters demanding we get more 'flair' players, lemme explain something. Admittedly they can be brilliant at times, but what happens when they aren't in form or having a bad day? I'll tell ya - they head the ball into their own penalty box and concede a goal AND then they get stomped by true footballers later (had to take a shot at the mancs in here lol) Then we have the prissy pissy moaner variety of 'flair' players who quit trying to play for the team and begin an obsessive run of new hairstyles, eventually costing the team the season (had to remind blues in here what they paid £50mill for) Who wants flair now??

I will take a SQUAD anyday over a bunch of flair players. ANYDAY ON ANY PITCH. Even if we overpaid for them initially, low wages will keep the players from falling in love with themselves or having too much pressure put on them from expectations (cant forget our city boys now) I love the way our team is coming together- perfect mix of leadership, skill, versatility, and of course management. Please refer to Istanbul when we brought big ears home with likes of baros, luis garcia n finnan filling out our team. They were not extraordinary players, but the team had chemistry and belief in one another. This is in sharp contrast to the flair players who only have belief in themselves. The Liverpool Way is to work towards a common goal with a common belief- leading to uncommon success, and God help us that is where we're headed.

So to all the fans- put up some support or shut up. To all the haters- lol keep reading bc it's about to get good so stick around (warning if you're a supporter of another club getting a rise outta our site it might result in overwhelming shame and crippling emotional breakdown when we achieve our goals. So count your blessings for whatever success your sides can manage from this point on bc it will not last. Prepare for the reckoning. Azkop.

PS- on 28 Oct 1981 a young striker struggling to get going for the reds suited up against Exeter. He scored and in KD's words "he never looked back" His name was Ian Rush.
Just thought I'd share that as it made me think of one Andy Carroll and how history has a funny way of repeating itself. YNWA Andy... azkop

23 Aug 2011 09:19:27
So we are after Coates and Bellamy now,As Macca said.Would love Bellamy back quick and can score goals but it is being reported that we will offer a lucrative contract if no fee.As for Coates Man city are also after him but hopefully we will get him,don't know much about him but he was very good in the copa america.At 6'6 and with the Suarez influence fingers crossed.
Keep up the good work Ed's and Macca and can you shed any light on the latest developements. {Ed002's Note - If anything comes up you will be told.}

23 Aug 2011 08:38:14
Lots of reports that we are about to sign Bellamy. Suarez and Bellamy up front - WOW!

If we play suarez and bellamy upfront.. then whats been th epoint of buying wide players to throw crosses in? both are no taller than each other.. Bellamy is 32 and would want a decent wage.. it doesnt fit the rest of the transfer policy so far.. unless he is signing on loan with Man City picking up most of his wages but even then i think there are better options out there..

New centre back is looking very likely now with the Greek gone

Bellamy would be a great loan signing for the season as if Danny p ngog and maybe dirk leave we would be light up top

Would be nice to see a move for for Adam Johnson if Sami n moves to man city

Hope we can of load some move dead wood Cole degan that fat left back etc but hope we keep Raul m looked good on Saturday

Ed, I don't know much about coates. I know you've said he's certainly good enough for us but would he start for us or would he be one for the future as he's 21, right.

J-Dog

He certainly is good enough, if we couldnt get cahill, this guy is one of only a handful of others, id have and im a big cahill fan...

23 Aug 2011 07:22:00
Am i the only one who wants cahill he is used to the prem and have bags of ability we should get him

Cahill, is awesome, ive liked him since his villa days, still unsure why they got rid, anyways, this guy is one of only a few good enough to have over cahill, if that were to happen...

Hi edds on the seb coates rumours his has not got a eu passport and hasn't played enough times for his country to get a work permit will this be a problem if we are indeed bidding for him. Love the site. Any info on this cheers. {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts - it seems he may have a Spanish passport.}

Yes he has a spanish passport..

HI eds told you all a week or so ago we were interested in godin/coates at 25 mill for the pair and ath/madrid didnt really want to sell ,also besides them being very good the club want to make suarez
happy knowing if he has a good season we will be bombarded with offers,the plan is if we reach the top 4 he will become our biggest earner by far,too the poster who said no player is bigger than the club that might be true but suarez is special and the powers that be are looking ahead.coates should be signed if their are any hitches M/C etc we will sign
godin who is 25 and more polished.my info is family in latin america and spain,I receive my info in spanish and mines not that great takes me ages to
translate.once again buenas noches y buena suerte
(f godin dom/rep) p/s the guy/gal who said he was from paraguay and that coates is not worth 10 million you are wrong hes 6/5 and a monster talent

To every fan in here.

When Macca Speaks it usually has legs. When the Ed's speak it usually has legs. The reason this site has a huge following is because there is a lot more than rumours on here. Wow this has become a source for main stream media but that doesn't surprise us. Now if only the fans would listen and support our team 100% without slagging off posters(knowledgeable), Ed's and players we'd be in a perfect place. Believe Redmen. We're close to being back where we belong. JFT96. YNWA.

That would explain no foreign players coming IN THIS SUMMER. WOW

23 Aug 2011 04:25:45
Reports on Twitter about LFC not being registered to apply for a Visa for Coates. Doesn't seem very likely though. LFC must have applied for a visa for his team mate Suarez, sdurely?

Suarez was already working in Europe {Ed002's Note - He still needs a visa to work in the UK.}

Suarez lived in eurpe for couple of years {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with it. He still needs a visa to work in the UK.}

great job eds!!

Liverpool do not hold a license with the ukba to apply for a visa for sebastion coates. dont know what macca's talking about.

Just watched some videos of this guy Coates on YouTube and he looks a decent player. The league he is currently playing in looks similar to the premiership so IF we do sign him he should settle in pretty well. Only thing I wud be concerned about is he plays on the left of the two centre backs... Wud this mean dropping Agger for him??? I hope not!!

YNWA redmen.

23 Aug 2011 03:12:56
Dont be suprisdd if we sign TWO centre now that sortis has gone. Probably dann (8m) and one of cahill coates or mertsacker

Or a right back and move Kelly into the centre where he would be awsome. So long Sotirios. You did well for us at times. Hope it goes well for you in Germany.

Wow that's amazing wouldnt have known that.

Amazing how Coates is in the list now it's all over the paper ey?

hello eds great site and am addicted for 3 months now. . . with greek leaving liverpool theres obvious chance of signing cb. . . i would like to see cahill coming in well settled and experienced epl player , do you think ed club will go for an younger cb . . .? somebody like coates which media have been talking
--red indian. {Ed001's Note - younger than Kyrgiakos, yes. We are certainly making a number of enquiries right now, but it is still not fully clear to me which we are going to bring in.}

23 Aug 2011 02:27:38
Although Kuyt was a decent player for us last year i would seriously consider selling him he is 31 and prob has 1 maybe 2 years at best left. 10-12mil would be ideal then go out and buy one of the following marin/hazard/a.johnson!! a winger with pace is vital ... you know it makes sense!!!

I would like Kuyt to stay ....he is something like Van bommel,Giggs, Seedorf, Inzhagi...remember every big team has couple of such players.

I agree,Kuyt works like a mule but, his touch is poor , hes slow etc, and hes prob gona start from the bench from now on, so mayby its in his own intrest to move on.
JayZ

We wouldnt get near any of them players with under £15 million and kuyt is an integral part of our team, it makes no sense at all!!!

To the people who are unsure if we will sign anyone else, or are we in close proximity to another signing. The writing is well and truely on the wall. 2 months ago Ken gave the Greek a 1 yr extension to his contract. Yesterday afternoon he allowed him to join some Kaizer team on a free transfer.
Either Ken has lost the plot, or we are that close to signing a new CB he has already let the Greek go ensuring he won't remain on our books alongside the new CB we are about to sign.... Makes sense doesn't it? (Rhetorical)

Southern Scouse. {Ed001's Note - Kenny didn't give Kyrgiakos a year extension, it was a clause in his contract entitling him to a year extension if he made X amount of appearances.}

Actually, IF Kenny gave him an extension - which he did not as Ed001 quite rightly points out, it was part of his existing contract- and then sold him it would an astute piece of business. He would have little value with nothing left on his contract. In fact he would leave on a free........with 1 year left he would allow us to recoup some money perhaps?

Renia, Doni, GK?

Kelly, Flanno, Johnson, Carragher, Coates, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Robinson

Hendo, Adam, Gerrard, Spearing, Lucas, Downing, Maxi, Mireles, Sterling (maybe?)

Kuyt, Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy

If the rumours are true, this could be our 25 man squad.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Looks pretty good to me.

Under 21's don't count mate, so leaves heaps of room for Benzema, Adam Johnson, Hazard, Higuain and Kaka on loan to come in before the window shuts!! I almost forgot - Yossi and Xabi's returns also. Good squad!

LIVERPRES

Strong squad. Still lacks a Silva (not saying we are after him) type for the final pass.
Raul best in current squad at that?
If the ball regularly gets Luis free, he will score hat full.

hi eds,first time post, there is an article here in ireland in the daily star linking liverpool with kevin doyle, saying he would cost around €10m and liverpool had a scout watching him sunday in there win over fulham,is it just filling a page or could be there be any truth in this

thanks

23 Aug 2011 00:41:38
Does anyone else feel that we spent 100 million on a star (Suarez) and a bunch of squad players? The 20 million for Henderson is still mind boggling. Mata to Chelsea for 25 million. I know they are different situations but come on, Henderson isn't worth a tenth of Mata's value! {Ed001's Note - Hendo cost 15.6m.}

All our new signings have played in both games tis season already. Even Enrique has played and played well. But i will agree, they are squad players as is Suarez, Gerrard, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Kelly, Mireles, Kuyt etc, etc, etc....

This is our best squad in 20 years, so sit back and enjoy and be thankful, that we have such a strong squad.

We have somthing now that we havn't had in a few years and that's "Options". With the players we've brought in we can play 3-5-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 and 4-3-3. Options is the key imo, if you have different options then you can use different tactics. We can't 2nd guess Kenny, never mind an opposing manager.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Best transfer window i've ever had and still 9 days to go..........

Agreed. This is definitely the most exciting squad we have had in years.....I do hope we can hold on to Raul though. Anyone idea why he looked so angry after teeing up Luis for goal 2 vs gunners? Looked like he was giving the finger to someone...
rjb

This nameless poster is on here every day slagging off Henderson - he's probably a worried Manc or a bitter Sunderland supporter.

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - Actually there seem to be a lot of people taking a shot at Henderson and Carroll - many of which are regular Liverpool posters. But they will move on after the next game.}

May be regular posters, but they barely qualify as fans due to their whiny, moany crying type behaviour. I fart in their general direction...
Milamber {Ed002's Note - Well get used to it. After every game, and sometime between games, players will become figures of hate and will have a great deal of abuse thrown at them.}

I know this ed, just irritates the life out of me
Milamber {Ed002's Note - Me too, and I don't even support Liverpool.}

KK is throwing Red herrings everywhere and the press are falling for it.
This has been carefully masterminded by KK and DC to throw the scent and get the targets his really after because by playing clever he will outfox the likes of Arsenal,Chelski and Citeh who would pounce and out bid us.... All will be clear very soon.

23 Aug 2011 00:35:55
Very excited about these Coates rumours but not entirely convinced, what would you rate the chance of him coming?

Also i'm sure Liverpool are going to pull off some sort of marquee signing on deadline day, as this is how FSG seem to work, my moneys on Higuan.

What do you think eds?? {Ed001's Note - not convinced there will be a marquee signing as such.}

I highly doubt even if we did sign Coates (I hope we do sign him) that he would start against Bolton.

TexasRed

I'd be very surprised to see Carragher out of the team, and Coates (a player that does not belong to us (yet)) playing.

RedSG

I'd be even more surprised to see Lucas out of the team.

EuroRed

Good job mate, people were so suprised by the Coates part that noone noticed the dropping of Lucas! Seriously, I'd like the Adam-Raul partnership, but don't see it happening against Bolton.

Drigan

Adam and Raul in the middle together is a recipe for disaster. No grit or defensive ability, the opposition would play right through us. Both quality players, but the likes of Lucas is an absolute necessity. It has to be wither Carroll and Suarez up front or Suarez and Raul. Adam is a more suitable centre mid player than Mereiles, so Adam would get the nod there most times.

It's saying in the Mirror that Coates want's to leave Nacional to go to a big club in Europe! He is quoted with saying "Soon i'll be wearing the shirt of an historical club" It also state's that he'd prefer CL football! Hope Luis can persuade him to come to Anfield! Alphared

I too have been told were interested in Coates, but know close to nothing about him. Could you give me a insight into what kind of a player he is? If he is bought would he slot right into our first XI? I would would appreciate if you could shed some light on this player.

Thanks, James. {Ed002's Note - Put the effort in to read the other posts.}

I've seen a couple of posts, but I was wondering what you personally think Ed002 as you seem to know your stuff.

Thanks, James. {Ed002's Note - He is a kid, he has done well in a recent tournament. Much is expected of him. That is all I know.}

Imagine how dangerous were going to be with corner kicks & set pieces in general. Both Carroll & Coates to aim at. Should guarantee at least a goal a game.

I often think it would be good if we had a player that could throw like Delap does for Stoke but even more so now with these two in the team, what a weapon that would be!
