Just wondering, do you have celebrity supporters signed up to the various team banter pages? If so, which page has the highest profile supporter (no names wanted)?
Strikes me as somewhat bizarre that hidden behind the mask of 'Harry' could be Daniel Craig for all we know!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Celebrity is a subjective term. I have shown the page to a number of soccerball players that you would probably have heard off - I have no idea if they return on a regular basis. If you are looking for celebrities like Alice B Toklas, Polish filmaker Wojciech Has and William S Burroughs then I suspect not. I don't know what a Daniel Craig is.}

23 Nov 2016 00:22:30
A tip of my hat to you Ed002, the diverse nature of your knowledge knows no bounds.

23 Nov 2016 09:34:48
I'm rather upset you haven't listed me in that 'Celebrity' bracket Ed002m I'm the biggest celebrity I know.

22 Nov 2016 21:48:48
Spurs showing what you get from a Top 3 finish. An early exit in mid November and then long Thursday night travel around Europe.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

23 Nov 2016 01:51:41
Assuming they do not lose their last game.

Then no Thursdays at all!

23 Nov 2016 06:49:44
celtic have lasted longer in the cl, and for all there fans bragging about being unbeaten domestically the reality is they are 4pts behind Chelsea who they play next, they have failed badly in Europe, on the other side of that coin well done to Leicester on making the knock out stages.

23 Nov 2016 15:17:34
Poch is being shown up as the mediocre manager that he is not just in the PL, but in Europe. He only has one way of playing, plays a defensive style of play with two DM`s along with a back four, that`s 7 defensive players (including the GK) that may give you a good defensive base but his attacking players get no help from the midfield and they wonder why they can`t score goals hence, they draw too many games. Poch also bought miserably in the summer and whoever thought buying Sissoko for 30m should be sacked. All in all, Spurs are an average team right now, they can`t score goals, their signings have been poor, their big players aren`t producing and their manager is being found out. If they don`t fix it they will struggle to get 5th.

25 Nov 2016 22:55:08
Sorry, can't agree with the assessment of Pochettino as 'mediocre'. He's doing very well for Spurs.

MK

Wimmer has been terrible so far. All over the place.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

22 Nov 2016 22:06:54
Can't be easy trying to partner Eric Dier. The only centre back more over rated than Stones! ;)

I didn't watch it in all seriousness. Even top players have off days though.

22 Nov 2016 22:59:32
This is the liverpool page.
Please take to spurs site :-)

23 Nov 2016 01:00:21
exactly my thoughts AggerDo.

23 Nov 2016 01:05:51
Or the losers site 😛.

23 Nov 2016 06:11:08
MK
Wimmer alone was crap. Keep aside Dier for a minute ( He is a midfielder ) Wimmer has no clue whole 90mts. I wouldn't take him for free.

{Ed001's Note - Dier was a defender, who Spurs tried as a midfielder to get him in the team.}

23 Nov 2016 06:29:16
Sorry for my bad memory Ed01. I didn't knew it mate. He looked good in the midfield last season.

23 Nov 2016 09:44:09
Dier is pretty rash due to his positioning. Often he's seen eating a hotdog in the car park, but doesn't do a bad job if utilised correctly and has the right superhero sidekick next to him to save his bacon.

22 Nov 2016 15:41:18
Just watching the U-23's v Man. Utd repeated on LFCtv.
It's been a cracking game with some good performances on both sides. However, I've been particularily impressed with Rhian Brewster, Glen McAuley and Yan Dhanda going forward.
We've got a quality set-up at Academy and U-23 level and I can only see us getting better under the continued stewardship of Alex Inglethorpe and Co.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

22 Nov 2016 16:56:18
You're watching the u18s not 23s.

22 Nov 2016 17:42:58
Yes, I realized after I'd pressed "send". the sentiment remains the same though.

22 Nov 2016 18:45:17
What age do the youth teams go up to? Age 23? It's interesting because you never see a player who played with the youth team until age 23 come into the first team. Is it more intended for the players on the fringe of the first team or trying to regain fitness (Ings)?

Happy to hear 18s looked solid.

22 Nov 2016 19:37:54
U23 is usually players 17-20 the younger they are the better they're doing to be playing for the u23 the u18 side will be mainly 15-18 year olds with again the younger being the better prospects and 18 year old playing there rather than u23 are late bloomers or not going to make it.

22 Nov 2016 21:23:36
Dhanda in particular looks to have come on in leaps and bounds this year.
Did you notice the RB (Sharrif) for that game is only 15!

22 Nov 2016 13:07:41
My two cents on defensive errors and lack of clean sheets for us this season.

Maybe the best way to look at is not the clean sheet but the points dropped due to avoidable defensive mistakes.

I would say at burnly the two goals may have been avoidable while the goal and spurs was not that great defending either. So being over critical we can say 1+2 points dropped due to defensive mistakes.

However goal difference will make an impact in the end as well.

I think the title in 13/ 14 was not lost in the defeat to chelsea it was cause we conceded so many stupid goals in our wins that our good was lower than city while goals scored were 102 for us 103 for city

Subsequently we went on to try and score 7-8 at palace and ended up drawing. So basically the bad defending through out that season cost us the title.

So in short we need a better partner for Matip. Maybe gomez will be the answer.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

22 Nov 2016 13:27:39
Yes but that season we were winning 3-2 at West Brom, 5-3 at Stoke etc. We were literally awful defensively and relied on outscoring teams.

We are not solid at the back but we are far from terrible. In 12 games we have only conceded more than once on 3 occassions. Arsenal where we won anyway, Palace where we won anyway, and Burnley which was largely down to Mignolet being incapable of basic saves.

Aside from that, yes we keep throwing away clean sheets, but we are not actually shipping an abhorrent amount of goals. We are smashing teams 4-1, 5-1, 6-1 etc. In 13/ 14 those would've been more like 4-3, 5-3 and 6-3!

The defence is actually much better. People just want to have their cake and eat it. Just have a look at Milners average position this weekend gone. We actually almost played a front 4 because he was further forward than Coutinho and mane. Clyne was also closer to Mane than he was to Matip. We play a system which is aiming to score goals and win games in an entertaining manner. Despite this gung-ho approach we still have the joint second best good in the league. Would you rather be like Spurs? Playing so many holding midfielders to cover you full backs, that you draw 6 games in 12 due to a lack of goals, and end up in 5th?

You don't consistently score 3+ goals playing a flat back 4 or lots of defensive midfielders unless you have a player like Ronaldo, Messi or Suarez. We don't. Our goals rely on flooding the box and lots of very good players linking up well. We don't have a 30 goal a season player.

I say stick to the way we are playing and just enjoy it. I'd rather win 6-1 than 5-0 anyway. Clean sheets don't matter. Firstly it comes down to GD. Then it goes to goals scored. So 6-1 is undeniably a better result than 5-0. Fact. Might not be as perfect, but it is worth more in a title race.

22 Nov 2016 13:18:39
Someone actually understand the importance of GOAL DIFFERENCE. Liverpool needed 10 goals margin against Palace to overtake City's good three years ago. You are right.

22 Nov 2016 13:37:12
See facts are facts 2 clean sheets in 12 games is not ideal.

Talking about goals conceded that didn't affect matter to the points collected:

1. Leicster (could have been avoided)
2. Hull (could have been avoided)
3. Palace (both could be avoided)
4. Watford (Could have been avoided)

So that's 4 clean sheets and -5 on goal difference.

You want to be ahead on good cause it matters in the end. and the ability to always concede will mean that the defense as a unit will play with lessor confidence.

It has gotten much better to when we had skertl but still improvements needed and i'm sure Klopp will iron things out.

But no one other than Matip at the moment gives me confidence in out cb available.

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool had won every game this season by three goals to nil they would be well placed at the top of the table.}

22 Nov 2016 14:54:56
MK Scouser, that is the most spot on post.

22 Nov 2016 16:43:42
Pakred, MK is spot on. I posted in an earlier thread about how the Clean Sheet hysteria is nothing but that, hysteria and myth. We lead the PL in least shots conceded, chances conceded, least shots conceded and possession. We are much better at set pieces as we don`t even conceded them that much and when we do, they are dealt with. The opposition is too busy trying to stop us to fashion out enough chances to score. This is what our system does as in, defending by attacking. These are the hidden numbers that the two clean sheets do not show you. MK made the point that Spurs have the best defence in the PL yet can`t score more than one goal if Kane doesn`t play. They play 7 defensive players out of 11 so of course you will have a good defence. Same with Chelsea who play a defensive 3-4-3 formation with potentially 7 defensive players when they have the ball and 8/ 9 defensive players when they don`t. I don`t want us playing that way just to show we can get clean sheets hence, stifling our attacking talent. Also, our good is 2 goals less than Chelsea`s while we`ve scored 5 more goals than them (two of which beat them at the Bridge) . The point here is that we are much more innovative in our defending that does may not amount to plenty of clean sheets (don`t get me wrong, I want them more than the next guy) BUT reflects a different way of limiting the opponent to scraps as they are too busy worrying bout what we will do to them rather than what they can do to us. The fake fixation on this Clean Sheet nonsense is just that, nonsense.

22 Nov 2016 17:09:53
another quality post HR, I admired and agreed with the one you posted last night, from my own point of view I don't look at our defence and cringe, and I am old enough to remember a time we had a truly cringe worthy back 4, the thing to remember with these pundits is they change like the weather, atm they are fawning over Chelsea who I expected to challenge for the title btw, the minute they start conceding again they will be telling us conte has got it wrong, the only thing karius had to do last match was to stay awake, not bad for a goalkeeper behind such a "weak" defence.

22 Nov 2016 17:49:58
ED02, is it auto correct or do you keep changing goal difference to good, for a laugh? I can't believe almost everyone is missing it.

{Ed002's Note - I haven't changed anything.}

22 Nov 2016 22:23:05
I really feel like the chairman of the Hamilton appreciation society at the moment but again bang on mate. Give me exciting attacking football any day rather than a clean sheet first and hope for a goal. Spurs have the best defence in the league but have only scored in open play in one of their last 8 games in all competitions. I know who I'd rather watch.

22 Nov 2016 21:26:44
I blame Sparky.

23 Nov 2016 00:36:11
Spot on, KK and Pips for the compliments. I enjoy reading yours as well. I just feel inspired right now and when I did he research of the "hidden numbers" within the stats to see that this pathetic idea that our defence is weak just because we have 2 measly clean sheets was nothing but a media myth, a con they wanna use to beat us and Klopp with because well, he's making them uncomfortable as they seem uncomfortable with our progress. Klopp is showing that you can be defensively sound while at the same time, playing a fluid and expansive system that leads to our record of 40 goals in all competitions this season, best in the PL and conceding only 15, best in the PL, something I have not seen before in my years of watching football. Keep the posts coming, boys!

23 Nov 2016 01:04:40
Not much to add apart from spot on Hamilton mate I share your views and you make more sense then I do getting them across haha! - niceone mate always enjoy reading your opinions!

23 Nov 2016 01:38:17
Where do you get your stats from Hamilton? And Liverpool have only scored 3 goals more than Chelsea btw.

23 Nov 2016 17:42:05
You are correct, Fuser. I may have said that we scored 5 more than Chelsea but that was an error on my part.

23 Nov 2016 17:42:54
Thank you, LFC16. I ready yours as well and they are always well-thought out.

22 Nov 2016 10:57:46
Good morning you terrible lot.

First of all I sincerely hope the weather isn't affecting any of you too bad and everyone is safe and well.

Now the game with the round thing. Whilst sat by a roaring hot fire at the Lamb and Vulture, enjoying a mince pie listening to some Chubby Checker I thought I'd peruse this site and stalk the banter pages in search of optimism over the weekends game. I'm struggling to understand certain persons disappointment with a point away at Southampton, a good team with a good style and a good manager. Have Southampton all of a sudden become a team that lie down and get beat at home? Should they owe us a favour after all the many millions we have spent with them 'Spend £100m+ and get a FREE 3 points' per se. After all, many forget they finished above us last year, we lost there as well last year so surely a point gained is a step forward no?

My advice is don't stare too long at The Mirror of Erised, you may see Mamadou Sakho drinking a Gordons and Tonic with Jurgen Klopp or even more, Liverpool parading The League title through the streets of Liverpool. Top four would be rather nice this year and we are in with a good chance of winning the league but don't jump on the back of the club if the league doesn't happen this year.

Keep calm, have a Cheddarfield and enjoy the entertainment,

Merry Christmas, lots of Love November.

Great post Blair. Made me miss a good a old English Xmas too!

22 Nov 2016 12:12:04
I'm actually due to go on the annual fishing trip this Christmas Swish. We're off West of Port Blair on the Bay of Bengal. I'll greeted by my good Sentinalese friends with spears and rocks.

22 Nov 2016 20:41:20
go on, what is a Cheddarfield? I've looked on the webs but I can't find it. Cheers.

23 Nov 2016 09:24:54
Known to many of the South Virginian hill billy folk as Chesterfield. When I smoked, I used to call them Cheddarfields but saying that I was only 7 years old at the time.

22 Nov 2016 07:08:57
For those of you who watch ESPNFC. there's a thin line between bravery and stupidity, and I think Shaka Hislop crossed into stupidity.

"Liverpool won't make top 4 because out of them, Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Spurs, they are the least equipped to win ugly. They only how to play one way. "

What do you think ed001?

An inevitable draw and suddenly we don't know how to win ugly? What rubbish. We were only in his predicted top 4 about 2 weeks ago! He's notoriously fickle, changes his mind like he changes his underwear.

Even if we won, would it had even been ugly?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I have no interest in what pundits say, they are there purely to wind people up, to talk crap and stir up arguments.}

22 Nov 2016 07:18:03
We will certainly make top 4. But I want title.

22 Nov 2016 07:42:45
Am I the only one who would still take top 3? I don't care if it takes us a few years under Klopp to win the league. Solid steady progress is the way to go. Remember how close we came under Brenda only to fall in a heap as we were too reliant on a few players? Klopp is building a squad and developing an ethic and culture to bring sustained success. Of course I'd love to win the title, but Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was Anfield.

22 Nov 2016 07:57:11
Satisfying with Top 3 means you are handing over the title to Chelsea ( in transition ) or City ( who are actually below us and have a worse defense than us )
For what? Y don't you believe in yourself. For one season let's believe in ourself and have an attitude like champions.
How many titles have Arsenal won over the years wih steady top 4 trophy. What are the chances of both Coutinho and Firmino to remain at Liverpool. We couldn't handle the loss of Mane or Lallana for a sec and you believe we would fine next term.

We have done magnificent so far and the last we need s a loose attitude.

We are wining the 19th title this season.
Period 😎.

22 Nov 2016 08:14:10
You're deluded. Yes, we have a decent chance, but to state so emphatically just shows your naivety. You ask why I don't believe in myself? Last time I checked I wasn't on the team sheet. Chelsea in transition? They won the tile season before last and haven't conceded in 5 or 6 games.
Don't get me wrong, the title is there for the taking, but at the start of the season I'd have happily taken top 3 or 4 and playing beautiful football, and I'd happily take that now. I think we'll struggle to win without a confident keeper. Karius may turn out to be that keeper, but until then, it'll be tough.

22 Nov 2016 08:25:06
Chelsea are not in transition. They have a title-quality team who just need to be veered back onto the right path which Mourinho veered them away from.

I really believe we can win the title this season. Our defence isn't as bad as the hysterical pundits believe.

22 Nov 2016 08:40:42
Burke

What are the chances we will win the title after 2 years. You might see Jurgen Klopp at Bayern after 2 years. A team sitting in the second places after playing majority of the top teams away shouldn't be satisfied with a third place finish.
CL doesn't give you anything mate. Ask Spurs and Leicester. Both struggling in the league.

We have a real chance for the title and we should swear blood on the pitch to get it over the line. The moment you drop your attitude you loose.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp is not going to jump ship after 2 years, stop making asinine statements and actually do some research! You are an intelligent man Harry, try stopping and using that intelligence before typing please.}

22 Nov 2016 08:50:46
And it's Burkeyboy thank you very much :)

22 Nov 2016 08:55:55
Sorry BurkeyBoy ☺️
Let's bring the title back to where it belongs.

Ed01,
I agree. But we are in a great shape to get it over the line. We are playing well. All we need to cut short the individual blunders and make it tight at the back and we are good for anybody.

I would be gutted if anyone currently sitting below us win the title.

{Ed001's Note - next game is all that matters. That is all we should be worrying about each week.}

22 Nov 2016 08:59:52
I honestly think the title is ours this time around but if not will take top 4 no problemo.

22 Nov 2016 10:12:40
Klopp to Bayern in a couple of years? The same klopp who almost pi**ed himself in an interview after they'd lost. What are you smoking harry?

22 Nov 2016 10:56:32
Ed002 has always said that Bayern want Klopp in the long term. But that doesn't mean Klopp will say yes.

22 Nov 2016 13:01:56
Hislop must have been living under a rock while Spurs were drawing all those games. Winning ugly? You can`t know how to win ugly if you spent the last 5 out of six games drawing. The guy should keep quiet. As for Bayern wanting Klopp, he rejected them twice and he still laughs at them openly and publicly when they lose so this idea that they want him long term is ridiculous. As for Harry and his title aspirations, you really need to stop whinding yourself up over this and focus on the next game as that is what Klopp is doing so follow him and who knows, all our dreams may just come true. Until then, on to Sunderland.

22 Nov 2016 13:26:31
Who wants to win ugly anyway? We'll win the league playing beautiful football.

22 Nov 2016 13:31:03
I know Hamilton, but at the end of the day, tribalism can be trivial in the whole scheme of things. This is ed002 who said this, he doesn't lie.

22 Nov 2016 16:14:57
the good form we have hit just coincides with a poor run from both mancs a iffy bit from chelski an spurs. I believe we can do it I also believe it's just as likely we could finish 6th there is a lot of footy to be played yet.

22 Nov 2016 17:53:08
I am 100% certain shaka hislop is an edd on this site I belive edd 23.

22 Nov 2016 19:57:08
Hi ED001, apologies if you've answered this before but are there any journalists or pundits that you do rate and are worth listening to?

22 Nov 2016 19:57:08
Hi ED001, apologies if you've answered this before but are there any journalists or pundits that you do rate and are worth listening to?

{Ed001's Note - I can't think of a single journalist I would bother listening to, being perfectly honest. As for pundits, it really depends, on the BeIn coverage in the Middle East, Graeme Souness is excellent and very erudite and forthright. On British TV, he is terrible. They have a different agenda on British TV, the stations want to stir up controversy, rather than just have them talk sense and dissect the game with intelligent analysis. They have talking points fed to them. Which is why I don't understand the big deal about Neville, even before he went to Valencia and showed he has not got a single solitary clue about the game, he was being told what to talk about.}

22 Nov 2016 20:46:54
Ed001, Chris Sutton has been funny on five live ( I try to have radio commentary over the TV if I can) . He just thinks everyone is rubbish, and has a bit of insight . Robbie Savage is like the worst idiot watching the match in the pub who won't shut up talking shizer.

{Ed001's Note - I can't stand Savage. He is embarrassing.}

23 Nov 2016 01:08:39
Shaka Hislop knows as much about football as Ian Hislop.

23 Nov 2016 06:15:35
Cheers for the response ED. I've no access to Beln, but have seen Souness on Irish tv before and comes across completely different on that to Sky.

{Ed001's Note - it happens to all of them, to be honest. They are totally different when on UK TV. Sometimes they don't come off well, but at least they are allowed to be themselves. Which is particularly good when McAteer is on, as he is hilarious. Not bright or insightful, but bloody funny.}

23 Nov 2016 07:42:39
I'll have to keep an eye out for some clips of McAteer.

{Ed001's Note - they did a show on a Saturday called S Club 7 (I know crap title!) which he was often on, sometimes even as a co-presenter. Not a particularly good show in the main, but it was a build up to the football on a Saturday. If you can find clips of McAteer on there, that is when he was at his best. He would tell stories about himself, some of the stupid things he did. Bless him, he really was not blessed in the brains department but man the stories were funny.}

23 Nov 2016 14:35:10
For the first time ever i agree with harry, we are as good as any team in the league and have just a good a chance of winning it as them. I too believe we will lift 19 in may. Come on the pool.

22 Nov 2016 04:26:30
Is it true that Klopp been told by Michael Edwards to use the VIP customer discount for
Van Dijk purchase? Apparently at 25mil after 25% off.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

22 Nov 2016 06:37:58
Another Southampton player Lol, No surprise there.

22 Nov 2016 12:48:21
Although it is another soton player i feel van dijk is a really good defender and has potential to get better. he's on par with most of the defenders in the prem league on current form.

We haven't done too badly with other soton buys eiher. Lallana, Clyne, Mane have been excellent

Jury still out on Lovern tough.

22 Nov 2016 13:02:17
Nice one, Leek.

22 Nov 2016 14:40:15
Eds how would you rate Van Jijk? I've not seen much of him to judge. Would he improve our defence? Is he needed (should sakho go) ? To me I'd like to look at Gomez a little more but what do I know. Biggest question is, are we actually wanting this player or is it just another daft rumour.

{Ed002's Note - I rate him as a 31.4.}

22 Nov 2016 17:32:18
Spot on, Ed. Not even fit to lace Matip`s boots.

23 Nov 2016 01:09:57
31.4!

NO WAY! He would struggle to get past 28.7!

23 Nov 2016 06:45:34
There are better defenders who would not be as expensive as Van Dijk we could pursue in summer. I don't really get the infatuation with him to be honest.

23 Nov 2016 21:45:14
Ed 002, that's nearly ten times pi! In my opinion rating is complex. I'd give him an 'i'.
