Hi eds and reds
Just wondering what's happening with Kelly?
Clearly he has had some really horrendous injuries and problems with his fitness since but is he playing regularly for under 21's? If so how is he doing?
I knew it would be a long road back but to be honest I thought he would have featured more, so far he has only made a couple of sub appearances and hasn't really built up any match practice or sharpness in the first team as he simply hasn't played so was just wondering what the situation was as if he was fit he would offer us an option at right back which would give us Johnson for left back if needed
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As much as I want all Liverpool players to succeed I don't think he'll ever cement a starting place at Liverpool. I hope he developes into a good squad player but I think we allready have better options in our reserves with lori, jones and mcglaughlin just to name a few

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree he might never make it, however I think he is a lot more proven it premier league than any others so has an advantage there.
Sometimes players can't step up, Robinson looked like a world beater in youth and Flanagan looked good as well as sama but none have done anything.
We could do with options at right back so would be useful if he was for to play

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say that Rodgers fancies Flanagan more than Kelly. I think Flanagan will become a regular in the first team squad now Enrique is out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kelly has not looked the same player, in training or games he has played, since his injury. It will probably be next season before he will be back to his best. BR does rate him, but he has a lot of hard work ahead of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely Flanagan over Kelly is fitness related, can't believe that anyone could believe he is better. Based on Kelly before injury I would say he was quicker, stronger, taller, better going forward and better defensively so can't see anyone preferring flanagan

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a shame that many of our youth players shine at that age but don't reach the heights we expect. to think that flanagan, kelly, robinson, morgan, adorjan, sama, roden ect will probably never stake a claim in our firsts is a real shame. but having saidthat our first 11 is so strong its not surprising. I wonder how well theyd improve if they went down the same road as townsend has at spurs. I think games is a must from an early age

Agree0 Disagree0

What rubbish. What do you mean he will never make it? He already had before his injury. A player you had no concerns about playing we called upon. I agree that a lot of posters talk up our youth players only for nothing to come of them but Kelly was not one. Yet since his injury there does seem to be some issue because Kelly would be streets ahead of Flanno or any other younger players you care to mention. I hope he finds his mojo and becomes part of our first team squad soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

By never make it, I merely meant that with his injury I beeline he is now behind wisdom, Johnson, Enrique, ilori, salvo, skrtel, toure, agger with possibly jones, the young Spanish lad signed from real who's name escapes me, McLaughlin all coming up it may be difficult for him to get his place back, especially if we played with wing backs as we would then also have some more attacking options like Raheem and Henderson

Agree0 Disagree0

All i'm saying is he won't be 1st choice at Liverpool. he won't start before johnson at right back or agger, toure, skertle and sakho at center half. i'm not slating the lad but if were talking about top four this year or even mounting a challenge to win the league he'll never be a first choice starter. if you belive he's better than who I've mentioned then I just don't see it

I have Liverpool to draw with Everton 2 - 2 at Goodison Park tomorrow with the first goalscorer being Luis Suarez .

A bit of a long shot at 55:1, what do you reckon?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A draw? Pessimist!

Agree0 Disagree0

LFC 1-0 Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was a betting man i'd put money on 2-2. First goal scorer is always difficult though so don't know, Suarez or Lukaku has to be a good shout though.

When there's been a international break, we have played away twice and 1st it was swansea they scored 1st 2-2, and newcastle they scored 1st 2-2, so my bet would be lukaku 1st goal 2-2, but of course we go to win and it will be the more sweeter to be 1st team to win at goodison this calender year, hope agger starts, Come on REDMEN, so them who's Merseysides numero uno side!
Also thanks rodolfo and frank, best wishes in your next jobs! Kopites 4 Life

I think odd goal in 5 or 7, going to be a game that breaks into open end to end mayhem. hopefully

Got to be 3-1 to us all day. Distin and Jags won't be able to contain Suarez but on the flip marking Lukaku for 90 minutes will also be very difficult.
A special at our bookies is Suarez Anytime and to be given a card 5/1, nice odds, £10 stake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well only 10 hours to go before kick-off, I might have given Everton a goal too many but they are at home . Surely we are going to score a few, we'll see .

Agree0 Disagree0

I've got Suarez to score last and Liverpool to win 2-1 for 40-1

Making the trip over from Dublin in January for the Aston villa match anyone help me out where is the best place to get tickets? Ed001 any ideas I booked the primer Inn based on your advice {Ed001's Note - speak to the local supporters clubs mate, they usually get a number of tickets for the matches and quite often don't use them all. A mate of mine used to get first dibs on the returns from them before they handed them back to the club.}

I think we need to start with:

Johnson Toure Sakho Cissokho

This is the wrong game to throw Flanagan in. He will lose his head when things get 'nasty'. I also dread to think what will happen if Skrtel and Agger play against Lukaku. Do you remember what he did to us last season for West Brom? Earlier in the season, Benteke made Agger look like a lady, and were it not for Toure, Villa may have came away with a point. Toure and Sakho have the power and physique to cope with a derby, and the strength to deal with Lukaku. Sakho is also in great form, as he proved for France. I think Cissokho and Sakho will both benefit from having Toure alongside them as he can speak fluent French which may aid him when it comes to organising the defence. Otherwise I'd say start Skrtel and Sakho. This will probably happen once Sakho understands English fluently. The other option is to play Toure and Skrtel, but I'd just prefer to see Sakho given a game in a match that will suit him more than any other defender in the squad. If Sturridge is injured, a straight swap is there in the form of Victor Moses. Quick, powerful and direct. Moses was MOTM against Italy earlier in the week, so perhaps he has earned the right to start in the event of an injury. Playing people like Alberto, Ilori and Flanagan in a game that's going to get tough and be very hard to deal with both physically and mentally is suicide. The only reason I'd play Coutinho is because he has the awareness to create space for himself, and is suprisingly tough. I'd go with the same midfield that played Fulham off the park.

Lets hope Suarez is not too tired!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I reckon we could also go with:

Toure - Skrtel - Agger - Johnson

Hi eds, reds
Why don't we try and stop the ball getting to lakuku then we don't have to worry about him . Let's make everton worry about us . 3 points please . Come on reds

With the two youth academy men getting sacked anyone think we should try rob Southampton's youth set up don't no exactly who runs it for them but the return on youth players to make it is excellent

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Nov 2013 12:30:57
Lets be honest guys, the 2 thongs you don't do in a derby is play youngsters for the 1st tine or play players out of position.

if Sturridge is fit it will be the same team that beat Fulham. If not, Moses should come in.

Play our left back at left back and our right back at right back.

Simple

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The two thongs? Mate, Aquilani and Cole are gone. We no longer have 2 pain in the Arsene Wenger's.

The last thing we want to be doing is playing in thongs!

I think BR might play Agger at left back and play Sakho and Skrtel together in the middle. Then we have power to try and contend with Lukaku (remember how Benteke and Lukaku have bullied Agger and Skrtel in the past). It also keeps Agger in the back four where we need his leadership and ball playing skills. He's also not bad at left back so it's hardly putting an inadequate player in there.

I'd keep 433 so we don't get over run in the middle.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A true SAS. Forgot to add.

Agree0 Disagree0

Square pegs in round holes, the last time we played CB's at full back we lost due to no natural width.
Also we don't need 3 CB's just to deal with Lukaku, we have big problems if that is our plan.
I would keep the 433 though, swapping Sturridge if he is injured for Moses or Sterling

we need a win tomorrow and I hope suarez and sturridge are fit to play becaause everton will be ready for us.
FSG policy is to bring in young talented players and I agree.
we should get morrison from west ham he fits the bill.
morrison will be a world beater in years to come pure class.
our first eleven can beat anyone on the day but we need more quality on the bench.
looking at the squad defensively we only need left sided defender with attacking skills.
in midfield morrison would be great can play in the gerrard and coutinho role.
i would not buy another midfielder because I think rossiter will be rotating with lucas next season.
attackers we need we need another forward of the same level as suarez/sturridge.
lukaku belongs to chelsea and they will will proberly bring in falcao so next season lukaku will proberly be for sale.(lukaku-suarez lukaku-sturridge will be unstoppable)
and we need 1 winger, ibe and sterling will only get better.
and the situation we are in I would sell suarez if a 60-70 mil offer would come in summer.
we could buy lukaku-morrison-left defender with his sale and have a better team and still have a budget to buy a striker.
future is bright malta

Flanno or Cissoko for the weekend? Personally i'd prefer to see Llori get a chance. he's quick, strong in the tackle, good on the ball and tall so should be a bonus from set pieces. What do fellow reds think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Nov 2013 09:35:49
That if he was that much of an asset, he'd be starting ever game.
This is not the game for kids to be making debuts!

22 Nov 2013 10:01:11
Why is everyone wanting to experiment in the seasons most intense and important game? Just start the same team that started against fulham, if Sturridge is unavailable, start with Toure or Moses.
i would prefer Moses, he seems to be hitting form and was brilliant vs Italy a couple of days ago!
That way the subconscious message is Attack.
Lets be honest we only defend when playing 3-4-3, in reality it's a 5-3-2. Ancient tactics from the 50s and 60s by the way when Hungary was a world force in football!

Agree0 Disagree0

Llori is a center half not a left full mate Flanagan a local scouser in a derby makes sense if taught he done well against arsenal he is old school won't get forward much but will do good at the back

Agree0 Disagree0

Ilori will turn out to be a fantastic CB, I am sure. But the Merseyside derby is not the time to make your PL senior debut I feel.

Everyone naming teams on here my question is Flanagan or cisskho to start who would you rather out of only them two

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Nov 2013 09:53:08
Although Cissokho is yet to impress, I guess he needs to settle into the team.
No disrespect to Flanagan but he is a decent Championship RB at best and at arsenal he was shocking, 3 out of 9 tackles, passed 8 wrong passes, won 1 out of 4 duels and crossed the halfway line 3 times in 60 minutes, while Henderson when switched to RB when flanno was subbed managed to get forward 6 times, twice as much is half the time. I can't even remember a game where flanagan has impressed even at U-21 level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah true Henderson out there Allen in the center also what about Martin Kelly surely he should be nearing fitness

I've been reading people slagging off the likes of sterling and wisdom. Frankly I think it's disgusting to see people getting on the back of these 18/20 year olds.

Look at andros Townsend, he was loaned out 9 times and I'm sure lots of spurs fans were saying the same sort of things, look at him now, he is playing superbly and looks one of our national teams shining lights.

Take a long hard look at yourselves

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get a grip. No-one is demanding that they be sent to the gallows, or calling them names.

If these 18/20 yr olds are not good enough for LFC, then everyone has to accept it - sooner or later. That is professional sports.

And they will go on to have professional careers at other clubs at wages the rest of us can only dream of. They will do fine.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Nov 2013 10:11:45
Honestly the only one who needs to get a grip is you Tiger. You are absolutely clueless.
Wisdom is Englands U-21 captain and a vertsaile defender. Sterling is a sensational youngster who is ahead of Morrison, Zaha, Ince, Redmond in the England setup. You know what that tells me? It tells me the numerous coaches who see him day in day out know what I just said. You're words are so out of order actually it's shocking.
Drogba, Zidane, 2 of the greatest footballers of all time, didn't hit or reach their peek until their 25-26, someone like you would ofcourse say they were bla bla.

Give it a rest because you have no idea whatsoever what you are talking about.
Sorry for the rant eds, I just don't get these crystal ball "fans" who think they can write off excellent talents because the actually are not rushed into action so his likes won't destroy their confidence if they have a bad game.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not about reaching your peak. It's about breaking thought and being a useful/integral memeber of a squad in your late teens/early twentys. Zidane and Drogba both did this playing 30 +games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tiger,

i think you have completely missed the point of my post. townsend is 22 years old and was classed as someone who probably wouldn't cut it at spurs but look at him now.

henderson, lucas are also prime examples of being patient with young talent.

thiery henry did nothing at arsenal for 2 years before becoming one of the best strikers we have seen in a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling needs to wake up to the opportunity that's landed at his feet and repay the faith he got last season, he's a gem at a club that is willing to bring him on, but if he keeps up there's plenty willing to re[lace him.
