I can't wait for January's transfer market. That is all...

Well you're going to have to.

That is all.

23 Nov 2012 00:27:55
Mate we have got skint owners I doubt January is going to be our saviour. Brendan Rodgers have got big job especially with owners who know very little about footy. Just hope he gets what he wants or else things can get worst. Its clear everyone can see we need to add QUALITY in our squad. We already have lots of pontential players but now we need quality players to drive us foward insdtead will buy more average/pontential players and have excuses saying we are building for future. Just ask Arsenal fans who were saying there future is bright how it turned

22 Nov 2012 23:12:22
Lol whats up with teams scoring great goals against us? Zoltan Gera, Cabaye, Rafael, Di Natale, the two today etc. Seriously it's getting annoying -_-

AsianRed

How come you watched the game ?? YOU SAID "if cole plays i will throw my telly out the window" , so you are either full of s##t or just plain stupid , you must have been gutted when he scored , please go and "support" anyone else..............andy.

22 Nov 2012 23:00:24
Really disappointed with the team throwing away the win , slack ,very slack .The team thought they had won it and were trying the hollywood stuff.

I believe that team was easily good enough to win the game and underperformed .I actually thought downing wasnt to bad ,but Hendo looked way out of his comfort zone at RB.

I am not sure what we were doing charging forward with a narrow lead! We had 2 defenders on the pitch so maybe we should have been a wee bit more professional and made sure of the game.

I am pleased for Joe Cole ,he was class but lets hope he can do it 2 games in a row.

I thought we looked good at times but were poor too often off the ball .Made them look much better than they are when they had the ball.

No point blaming Hendo or downing we had the game won and thought were were good enough to take the p**s .I thought Gerrard ,Suarez were wasteful and should have tried to keep posession late on rather than look good.

I hope the players have a good look at the game and sharpen up or they face a long night in Italy.

GOD

23 Nov 2012 00:57:21
Good, maybe your ticket can go to somebody who's going to contribute to the atmosphere, rather than bitch about it.
WelshBoyDave

Lock the door on your way out, Fazak

I'm going to go support Yeading Fc. Not because of anything the club has done wrong, I'm proud of every player and every game, win draw or lose. I'm going to support another team so I don't have to listen to the constant whining of 'supporters'. We used to have the best fans in the world, now we have easily the sh*test.
Went to the Wigan game at the weekend with a few mates and tried to start a few chants, everyone around us looked at us like we were crazy.
No atmosphere what so ever, constantly outsung by away fans.
Anfield used to have a reputation as a fortress, I tell you one thing for sure, its not the players or managers that have destroyed that reputation. I come on here and all people ever talk about is Torres, United or just straight up slag our own players off.
Before you crucify Rodgers, Downing, Henderson, or whoever you choose to tonight, have a good look at yourselves.
John.

23 Nov 2012 02:39:23
Is right lad! it's true, the atmosphere is horrendous. What our players must think or feel, surely it affects the way they perform.
We need a great atmosphere at Anfield if we're to help this team move forward.
Their fans were superb tonight. They really got behind their team and pushed them on.

22 Nov 2012 23:06:55
I thought we were too open, at 2-1 up late on. Just see the game out.
I think Sahin was the one sitting in front of the back four and that's not his game. Along with Gerrard and Shelvey, we had no real protection for the defence, as they were still more concerned about getting forward. I was saying, it was going to end up 3-1 or 2-2 and so it proved.
Rigsby.

22 Nov 2012 23:05:29
Not a visionary amongst you miserable lot. Every game the young lads play in they gain experience. We're rebuilding and it will take time. Stop whining and look for the positives of which there are plenty.

We've been rebuilding for over 20 years when does it end?

Club has been grossly mismanaged ny owners for 20 years plus. You reap what you sow. Open your eyes.

BR is doing a fantatsic job. But people keep on saying we need a striker in jan. We have the prem leagues top scorer. We need wide/Strikers to fit BR system. He has already spent 11 million on FB who will be back soon as back up. Forget Huntealaar he will want to be the main striker meaning suarez out wide. Bring in Theo Walcott and Sturridge. Meaning we can rotate our front line. Hopefully it will be from Sterling Assaidi Suarez Wallcott Sturridge Borrini Suso to pick from with Morgan Yesil Nagoo still knocking on the door. When Lucas comes back that will be like a new signing. Gerrard then can play behind Suarez in the advance midfeild role. Maybe a new keeper also Jack Butland possibly to push pepe. Team Pepe. Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique Lucas Allen Gerrard Wallcott Suarez Sturridge. Subs Butland Coates Carragher Shelvey Henderson Borrini Sterling. I know people will say sterling on the bench?? Think about it he is still learning we need experience. I havnt even mentioned Suso,Assaidi,Downing,Wisdom,Sahin,Cole,Kelly. Point is we need first team players the squad is improving.

All well and gd saying we have the top goalscorer in the league but when suarez gets banned or god forgive injured who will step up to the plate we are lacking in attacking numbers we need at least 1 more striker

Walcot doesnt wanna play wide...and thats his problem at arsenal..
sturridge ma fit..but he is the worst player on the pitch in terms of attitude...
he will spoil the harmony of our team..
huntelar would be my choice..
with suso, sterling suarez shelve gerrrard and hendo all can play behind him tom create the chances..
huntelar and boroni our main strikers..

22 Nov 2012 22:55:00
Good performance tnite but not great result same at Everton ,udiense, man city ,snland, stoke,Newcastle, pattern emerging y cant we kill off teams when we are ön top

Because we need a striker, I though everyone new that!

You actually think we played well at Everton?

22 Nov 2012 22:41:30
We needed to win and put the europa away but one full back for what 30 mins.was asking for it and no striker...we should start a strong side get the goals then take off the players we need to save...been going on to long....chazza.

22 Nov 2012 22:42:17
I'm sorry guys but we shouldn't make excuses for NOT WINNING against sub par teams like young boys, especially at home! God liverpool please sort it out cause I've gone from watching us destroy Real Madrid 4-1 to drawing at home to Young Boys while every other team laughs in our faces.

Honestly guys, I'm trying to look for positives but all I see from Downing running around is the biggest 20m waste liverpool player, Cole a disgraceful money packet grabbing peice of deadwood, Hendo means well but plays with no confidence = Hope he does a Lucas but does he have the mental strength? The only thing I look forward to seing is these crop of youngsters such as Suso, Sterling, Wisdom etc becoming fine players but by god are we paying for KD and DC Diabolical approach to buying "talented" (being the extremely loose term) English players. Seriously, I feel for BR what a job he has on his hands. Comments welcome because I could use some fellow reds output on our situation.

P.S I know it seems like I'm a doommonger, but I have really been annoyed with home results over the past years and would appreciate some sensible input please.

mozzilfc

22 Nov 2012 22:59:10
Cole had a decent game. Dnt blame the result on one player.

Not blaming the result on him, but does 1 game translate into his entire tenure. The fact that he's spent most of his LFC career contributing zilch amd being on a treatment table earning 100k a week is just poor running of the club and terrible player management.

mozzilfc

Why the negativity? We didn't just lose 5-0, we drew and put on a decent performance. We're in with a good shout of staying in the competition.
Why the unnecessary criticism of the players? Downing and Hendo both played well while Joe Cole had his best game ever in an LFC shirt.
Why the arrogance? We are Europa League standard at the moment. So are Young Boys - they are not sub par. Why should we be hammering teams like this at home when we are in a transitional phase and currently mid-table?
You're not a doom-monger as that would suggest you have some idea of how the future may pan out. You're just sour. And clueless.

cozinoz

You're not a doommonger, you're probably the most realistic fan on here, most of the people on here wet their pants any time you say anything negative about the team and its time they faced facts. Our fall from grace has been staggering, lets put this into perspective for the 'leave LFC alone brigade'; we played a relatively under strength team against a very poor team tonight and almost every time they attacked they looked as though they would score. Any one of the teams we used to be competitive against i.e. Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal would have destroyed Young Boys even with their reserves. Looking at our first team its decent and we would give most teams a game but when we have to rely on our best players just to try and beat the likes of Young Boys then our players will be burnt out by xmas and if that happens god help us because our reserves aren't ready. I do though think Rodgers is the right man and appreciate the way he wants us to play but the problem is the players we have don't really get it, too much running away from the man in possession and leaving him no-one to pass to. It's going to be an interesting January.

Why should we be hammering these tesms at home? We did put 5 past them away from home and we were in worse form than now. If we cant beat Young boys st home how fo you think we will do away against Udinese?

The Irish Rover

We beat madrid 4-0 at home. 5-0 agg.

Rover, appreciate the comments. We should be beating teams at home as at anfield, we should be always winning and shutting out games, as every team wants to do at home. And the away performance to young boys? That was a lot of luck in that fixture with the OG's etc.
Away to Udinese? God, I hope the players show up and give it a go cause I don't want to see a meager draw or loss, I want us winning games.

mozzilfc

23 Nov 2012 16:52:58
And cozinoz, Downing, a 20m England international who is getting shown up by two 17 year olds in that position? Why in gods name do we pay 20m for a player who doesn't even play first team now due to, wait for it, a STAGGERING 0 goals and assists. He has no excuse in my opinion, week in and out at villa he was tidy and the moment he steps onto Anfield BAM! Becomes terrible.
Honestly, I'd've rather had snodgrass and lambert other than Carrol and Downing cause not only can they perform better/offer atleast what you get with out two Clowns, there cost would be about 10m together not a 55m fee?!
Our transfer policy was the biggest joke in the world and I don't blame BR for trying to get rid as soon as.
There are always positives just as well as negatives to take from any game but its a results business and Liverpool aren't playing the game due to these pathetic excuses for players.

mozzilfc

Easy with hindsight Mozzil but as you said, Downing was good at Villa and Carroll at the barcodes. Who could tell they wouldn't measure up at Liverpool?

I've read a few posts suggesting we should play a stronger side in the Europa league games.

We shouldn't forget that we dont have a large squad and we still have to face Swansea on Sunday. It is also good for fringe players to be involved in the Europa League group fixtures.

We should still make the final 32 and we have a chance of winning on Sunday.

Levans

What makes you think Liverpool 'should' still qualify? Tonight was the perfect chance to do a professional job. Winning away in Italy is unlikely, at best. I'm not advocating a new manager, but we need to be realistic. It already looks as if the season has been reduced to simply attempting to achieve a respectable league position.

Red Owl

Spot on. Not the result we wanted but we're still on course and have hopefully got beans in the tank for Sunday.

22 Nov 2012 22:35:54
We played well today all players played fantastic even gerrard was superb. We can't do anything about their goals their were cracking just move on and look at Swansea game which is more important and sahin needs to be droped for shelvey tough assaidi looks light weight

The first one was hendersons awful marking and the 2nd clearly could have been avoided if we had just tried to stick it out and keep possession not pushing 9 men up the field. The performance was good at times but until we beat a team comfortably in this competition i will continue to be frustrated with our inability to really shut out the opposition.

You think Gerrard was superb, well i forgot he was even on the pitch until he blazed over that free kick near the end.

When was the lat time Gerrard scoted from a free kick? Years?

Against Villa first game of last season

We played sunderland first game of last season? pretty sure gerrard didnt play. i think youre thinkin of the free kick againt villa first game of 07 season? anyway I think last free kick was against united at home last season.

22 Nov 2012 22:33:37
Dissapointing result not necessary the performance some great moves one touch passing. Again it was lack of finishing suso should make it 2-0 in 43rd minute game won joe cole goes through on goal keeper saves they go and score straight away. My main concern this season is how much Rodgers allows the whole team bar the CBs bomb forward this leaved us so exposed on the break when we lose the ball this is we're we really need to improve the players need to get back into their positions and the team it's shape as quick as possible and leave a CM mid sitting to stiffle the attack. Tonight was very naive last 10 mins were winning and we just didn't use common sense Suarez over dribbling gerrard lazy sloppy passes downing Henderson bombing forward there's no need for it. I'm not slating Rodgers atall but he really needs to improve that part of the game the space and time the YB players had to take shots on the edge of the box was awful. And I think he's trying be a smart arse playing Henderson and Downing fullbacks they've had a tough Liverpool career as it is without playing them out of position.

Hi eds,
Just wondering when we get a striker in January if that player always wears number 9. Would he be aloud the number seeing as Carroll is out on loan to the end of the season because BR I think will defo not bring him bk
Thanks

Jr {Ed002's Note - If the number is allocated to someone it is for the season, unless they leave the club. So no.}

22 Nov 2012 22:31:19
Good game thought we played well to point. Only real negative for me is still Pepe's form? 2nd goal was saveable for a supposed top class keeper. On another note is Danny Murphy a great pundit or what? Talks more sense than any of them.
kidmillions

For some reason itv commentators are always biased towards English teams which is so unprofessional. Should learn a thing or two from BBC.

22 Nov 2012 22:29:12
we was class in first half went down hill when suso went off should have just put luis on for cole even tho he had a good game

22 Nov 2012 22:27:17
I should really say, to all our American LFC fans, Happy Thanksgiving!

El Pi**edolero

Great post but on a factual point, it's more like thankstaking if you catch my drift.

22 Nov 2012 22:26:30
We have only Suarez and no back up and their is absolutely no goals from midfield. Odds say we are an attractive and yet boring side with team that individually the players would struggle to make a Norwich team.
Weakest Liverpool I've ever seen and that includes the manager.
Just my honest opinion

NotRodgers fault he's ended up with this squad though is it lets be honest.

This is bar far the worst post. Who scored the goals today...cole and shelvey...both midfielders. Suarez kept losing the ball when he came on. He has support but I agree he needs someone to help him score the goals like a clinical striker, not another midfielder (I would have though that was obviously but clearly not). We beat Norwich away from home 5-2 and our whole starting 11 would get into their team. Worst post of the day for me, and on this banter page that's saying something.

Is that the same norwich team that our boring team oh sorry our utter crap team aswell as our clueless manager spanked 5-2 on there on turf? And should of been about 3 or 4 more put past them, When in last 4 weeks teams like spurs, arsenal and united have lost to!!

Is that the same Norwich that beat Man Utd

Funny, I thought Shelvey and Cole are midfielders? Who's scored our other goals this year - Sahin, Downing, Gerrard, Sterling.

22 Nov 2012 22:26:08
Same old story play well but still don't win..why do our players struggle to concentrate for 90mins..this game was already in the bag but no they decided to throw it away

22 Nov 2012 22:25:59
Jones would have saved the second, hes just bigger, and would have reached it. Reina was trying to hard, over commuinicating and arse slapping against wigan, thinking he was back in the team, with nothing to do that game. Got tested tonight and got found out again.

Officialy done with Reina, i feel so sorry for Brad Jones, excellent every time called upon, then just dispersed at the drop of a hat, because reina is a "bigger name"

Benny baller

Mate, both goals were belters. If jones let them in you would be sticking up for him saying there was nothing he could have done. First goal was hendersons fault, second was the teams fault for not having the ball in the first place. Gerrard isn't the leader he once was. Time to pass the batton on like carrgher has done.

22 Nov 2012 23:11:11
What a load.

Reina was unsighted because there were defenders in the way who weren't even closing down properly. Half the keepers in the PL wouldn't have even moved.

- Something Red -

Agree i was right on the post in row 2. Unsighted Ernie

22 Nov 2012 22:24:50
Oh my my my my my.....playing players in there natural position comes to mind brenden..... Another draw at home against a lesser team..... Buck ur ideas up boys....goodbye Europe for another couple of years

Oh no, are we out of Europe now?

22 Nov 2012 22:24:44
dont get why wisdom came off and henderson went to rb, if it was a injury then fair enough. but if brendan rodgers took him for a tactical change then i think that was a stupid decision and cost us the first goal really

Wisdom was injured

cozinoz

22 Nov 2012 22:21:45
Have we really improved since Dalglish because I think we've gone backwards.
Those who disagree, you tell me how then we have improved

Saving money not wasting it. Young players & young manager building for a future. Loss to Wigan last year, smashed them this year. Where's this backwards stuff you speak of?

dd

Ddi out of one cup already and nearly out of cup number 2. Horse league position now. Don't attack as often as under Dalglish.

22 Nov 2012 22:16:00
I love BRs attacking philosophy but putting Sterling on when we have just gone one ahead seems naive to me. With 15 mins left in an important tie, surely it would have been better to put a more defensive player on instead?
On a more positive note, at least the fans have a competitive match to look forward to vs Udinese

cozinoz

But we want to win the trophy which means we shouldn't be fighting for it all out in group stages? Honestly, qualify at home and give the players some respite in the fact that we don't have to win away at a tough ground to a decent side.
The fixtures are coming thick and fast and I'm not convinced some of these so called players can handle them. Pathetic.

mozzilfc

22 Nov 2012 22:48:03
The change was already called as the goal went in

We need less competitive matches at this point in time. We just don't have the squad to compete week in week out. Today was our chance and we blew it as only liverpool do. 'We only do it the hard way' - should be our motto unfortunantly.

"The change was already called as the goal went in"
Very easy to swap subs - Sterling came on 3 mins after the goal

22 Nov 2012 22:10:43
just wondering if gerrard might break into a sprint at some point during a game in the near future ! and carra really cant pass the ball at all far too slow !

22 Nov 2012 22:08:50
Shame tonight. We had a good opportunity to win that. Gerrard brought on to help win the game but ended up costing the win. He was the only one not to bother tracking back for their second equaliser when being a sub he should have had the legs.

Simon

Not entirely correct,Shelvey also stood watching as when he should have been busting a gut !! Beardsley's Boot's !!

22 Nov 2012 22:07:56
Wow, all we had to do was keep the ball but our so called 'better players' wanted to get up the field and lose the ball. Gerrard just keep on getting worse everytime I see him play. Literally his confidence in front of goal has vanished. His long range shooting ability is long gone. Now I just don't see us getting through the group stages unless we play a strong team at udinese and even then I'm not so confident. Downing was brilliant today, so was cole (looked like a completely different player, could be valuable as a squad player). Didn't many faults in our defence apart from Henderson who should have been tighter to bodabelli for the first goal (let's be fair he's not a RB don't know what BR expects). Problem was really our better players not playing experienced football. Just kept wanting to attack and walk the ball in to the net when we don't have the quality to do that quite frankly. Assaidi was quiet but shelvey was...well shelvey. Nuri sahin had an excellent game, definitely one of his better games in a red shirt. Suarez just kept trying to take on players but was really a hit and miss. One thing I have noticed is that he needs to work in his close control. BR is in no way to blame for that, it was the better players (cough cough gerrard cough cough Suarez) that let him down.

Nothing to do with a World Class keeper can't save a shot hit straight at him? Again!

22 Nov 2012 22:06:34
I love a 4-6-0.

DaveyBootle

22 Nov 2012 22:02:34
the players really let us down on this one, BR put out a wining side, even suarez was out of tune, most players were monkeying around like its a practice match, over dribbling and flicks, but hey good game.
Its good to have fun every once in a while.
And a big ups to Assaidi, ur getting there, and leave me alone with joe cole this and that, each time he ran he looked like his heart was gona jump out his chest, i even checked his profile, i thought he had high bloood pressure or something.

Ciah

It was stupid to substitute him straight after he scored, you dont do that to players lacking confidence ..
But yes, he need to work on his fitness.
Roy

Our team is rubbish now and that's the hard truth

Well Dalglish would be slaughtered now if he was in charge. Lucky we have the buck then

Ithought assiadi was poor his final ball never once found a team mate and downing could'nt cross to save his life.A very poor performance all round and at 2-1 up very niave in the last 2 mins to go looking for a 3rd instead of getting men behind the ball and keeping possesion

The players didn't let us down the manager did

22 Nov 2012 22:01:34
You can look as gloomy as you like Brendan but every YB attack went forward and EVERY LFC attack (as usual) went back at least twice. SORT IT OUT! Now we have to win in Italy to go to the last 32 (an unnecessary draw (YET AGAIN). Do you think that Anzhi are going to care if they win or lose in their next match? Let's face they are through no matter what happens. Unfortunately this attitude of Liverpool managers playing weakened sides in Cup matches has been going on for years. It's time for Liverpool to humiliate the opposition - we have been suffering from lesser clubs getting good results against us. Most of us fans are FANS FOR LIFE not just for a short (and profitable) career. SORT IT OUT!!!
Ben Terug

What makes you think we have the right to beat every team we play? and who says we wnt go to italy and win? we have four games in ten days mate and everybody on here thinks league is more important than europa so in effect he has to utilise his squad. dnt you think anzhi will play for pride also and try to win group comfortably? to negative mate!

ian the red

Saint Brenda's golden bubble is deflating rather faster than first thought.

22 Nov 2012 22:01:07
Rafa ,Rodgers what the difference they both think the games won on 75 minute , long way away I'm afraid.

Rem one wins trophies the other wins the media's heart like a darling angel.

22 Nov 2012 22:00:46
Why does BR just disappear down the tunnel at the final whistle?
No appreciation for fans at all,not the way of a manager who is in touch with fans.
He really is just all words and theory!

Derek

Any reason to have a dig eh derek? behave urself man dnt you think he may have been disapointed also?

ian the red

Thats just plain stupid .. you can tell by his face he was n't in the mood ..we just dropped 2 points we should've had ..

Roy

Mate if your team really lets you down and fail to follow instructions you would be pretty pissed as well. Fans where walking out before full time and I'm sure BR wanted to as well. Appreciation for fans is not first on your list when your team failed to secure a win.

22 Nov 2012 21:59:37
Seriously carra has paased it, dosnt deserve wearing liverpool shirt no longer, hes performance its awawawfuuul.

Not as bad as your grammar mate!

ian the red

22 Nov 2012 22:42:05
Carragher played well maybe we watched different games anyways all the best for more moan

And exactly what did he do wrong? he did no better and certainly no worse than the rest, but people like you come on here and for no reason start to criticise individuals who have given their all for our club. Show a bit of respect for someone who has done something that you will never do

He was to he blame on second yb goal

22 Nov 2012 21:58:57
Ouch that felt like a defeat. Why were we busting a gut to play it around in the final third with 2 mins to go?

22 Nov 2012 21:58:53
Nothing surprising in today's game. Any back four that includes Downing, Carragher and Henderson was bound to give up goals. Whilst I await the "they were stunning goals" bit, it was the positioning that allowed both to happen, irrespective of how well they were taken. We aren't talking about a good team here. We were playing Young Boys, at home.

I hope and pray I never see Downing or Henderson ever on the pitch again. The fact that Henderson is 'trying hard' doesn't dismiss the fact that he is useless. Downing is possibly the worst purchase in our history. Some might say Carroll, but atleast other teams were interested in him. I doubt we could unload Downing on anyone.

Looking forward to Swansea game. Hope the real Liverpool shows up.

Canada Red

Downing and henderson should go to tranmere rovers they were rubbish again tonite why does br have to play a b side in a game that we could have won easily with a full strength side if he takes henderson and downing to italy he should leave em there

Another stupid post .. but what is more stupid is playing 2 attack minded midfielders on the right and left back positions, without an out and out holding midfielders to cover and protect ....
I dont understand why morans like you blaming the players, the pair of them were put in a position that is not natural to their playing instinct.
And for the persons blaming Carragher, what did he do wrong? him and Skrtel had absolutely no one to help them, and there was very little they can do about the 2 good goals scored by YB.

Roy

Your picking the wrong names to blame mate. Henderson was to blame for the first goal but what can you expect from playing a CM at RB.... If I was Henderson I would be so pissed at the manager for putting me so out of position, but he gets on with it so give him a break. Other than that Henderson was alright. How did downing have a bad game? Give me an example of what he did wrong in the game?

Downing went wrong when he turned up

Downings that bad thats why he plays him at full back and henderson is so lightwieght it dosent matter where he plays he is pants any way

Surely attack minded players are supposed to beat defenders downing couldnt beat his own grandmother

Ive not said a bad word about rogers and our team yet this season but im sick and tired of seeing the same old familiar boring football that may dominate possesion but on the whole is very inafective gearing up for a long season ahead YNWAmanc

lfc fans...

anfield is like playing an away game....cos we hardly ever win..

and against young boys...its just ridiculous as to the amount of average teams get results.

we cant even rotate anymore.......because the level goes way way down

its better we come out of europe because we would need to play a full strength team in the weekday..and weekend.

the fact is...........we dont have enough quality players so we are always gona be mediocre until we get owners who spend.

same old reasons again..............funding..

Can someone tell BR that you don't concede goals in the opposions half clueless

Both of YB's goals came from counter-attacks. If Cole had buried his (admittedly difficult) chance, they wouldn't have scored the first. The second goal was very similar. I believe we are getting there.

Sahin superb tonight

Chris in Tamworth

22 Nov 2012 23:01:02
Chris he is not holding player nd few times he found himself there nd he went for ball leaving big gap behind...you can see on second goal...he is afraid to put tackles nd conseads silly fouls...he is creative player nd holding player behind him is required to nullify any risks he takes to win ball....Gerard is same nd his legs have gone...Henderson nd downing are no defensive players nd I have to say Henderson had few chances to put game to bed but he didn't...Lucas has been missed badly nd in January transfer window I would like to see Holding midfielder bought even if we have to sacrifice Henderson...I can't recall Liverpool s midfielder scoring goal outside penalty box without mistake of goalkeeper in recent times... still bit more tinkering nd chopping required to get better but I think we will eventually..

So sad that we have to bring Suarez on to beat a s##t team like this, also our players clearly don't understand the concept of pass and move, when our players have the ball there are no options, all of our players run away from the ball and that's why we're getting into difficulty.

Sorry are you watching itv4 ?

So sad you that probably see yourself as a so called supporter. If a pessimist like you was ever a Liverpool manager we would never come back from 3-0 down and win anything.

22 Nov 2012 21:21:38
Can anyone explain to me what is the deal with Henderson and Downing? Were either of them ever even remotely good? Henderson is fast, and tries hard, as would a chicken following a beheading......

What really did Kenny see? Is it possible they are good but simply devoid of confidence for over a year? Especially Downing. I recall him scoring a goal against us whilst he played for Villa. Some on here say he played well with Villa. I only see utterly useless player.

Eds fellow reds , why do liverpool always play a weak side and have strong bench . Play your best 11 get game won bring on subs easy . This was rafa biggest problem as well. Clueless

Yes, because Gerrard, Suarez and Agger can easily play 4 games in 10 days

22 Nov 2012 21:07:50
Anyone watching the game today or is everyone still stuck on Chelsea's most recent manager?

Shelvey showing once again he knows where the net is, and he has also made some sweet passes. Suso has done all but snag a goal. Even Cole hasn't been completely useless, though he is looking exhausted already.

Hopefully we can keep Suarez on the bench and ride this one out. Big game this weekend!

and pressing high up the pitch and in midfield areas.

only difference ive seen is more passing around the back

Everyone mentioning rafa n Torres... Come on now just let it go, who cares if rafa has gone to Chelsea? Ok Rafa will always be a legend at Liverpool for winning the champions league but that was Years n years ago....rafa had his chance n blew it big time, he argued with our owners like he did at Valencia n inter Milan too....Got sacked at all 3 clubs ..... He spent the 2nd highest amounts in premiership transfers whilst in charge n wasted most of it.... Most of His transfer dealings were awful... It was his fault we got rid of alonso to bring in Barry n even failed at that......rafa is his own worst enemy....he has to much of an ego now, demanding to manage a club that already has great players n was only interested in going to a club that's challenging for trophies...that's coz he can't be bothered to work hard for success....he suits it at Chelsea coz all he ever wanted was to be at a club that has all the money to buy whoever they want too....let him waste all chelseas money while there plastic fans wave there plastic flags n sing rafa out rafa out even before hes managed a single game for them plus he's only there until they get guardiola really!

We support Liverpool not Chelsea so just let them be and concentrate on Liverpool fc instead of spitting ur dummies out over something that has nothing to do with us at all anymore....just let it go....Move on

I'm surprised nobody wants houllier back lol

One thing that really annoys me about our fan base is the constant looking into the past. The amount of times the editors are asked about Torres or Alonso returning is frankly embarrassing. Now we have a similair thing happening with Benitez. Remember the last time a manager returned after the fans demanded it? Didn't go so well did it? We should be looking for the next Alonso and Torres, and supporting Brendan. Instead people seem to be crying over Benitez, and constantly talking and hoping for Alonso and Torres to return. Let it go. This football club will never move forwards if it remains stuck in the past.

This page turning into a Chelsea page ..
Well when in Rome and all that .. why do people in here think just because Rafa is finally managing somewhere he is going to buy Liverpool players ? I think there is only one player within our squad that can be of interest to Rafa which is Lucas , and he is not going anywhere (I hope not anyway).

Roy

Rafa won't be allowed to buy players.

Why would anybody go there because of Rafa anyway? He is only there until the end of the season.

Gally

Only Suarez would interest us anyway, and Rafa was long gone by the time he arrived.

Good to see Spurs playing crap at the moment, nowhere near as strong under AVB and without Modric. 4th is defo up for grabs if we can put a string of results together before Jan, and we will be stronger after that. Being realistic we likely wont get there but I am actually enjoying supporting Liverpool again. The last 4 years have been painful!

SM

You call drawing away to Lazio as a measure of playing crap? Strange!

The Irish Rover

We seem to get the whole one man team abuse because we rely on Suarez so much but Spurs are exactly the same, if Bale doesnt turn up for them they are an average team.

Jay

Yeah ok suarez is scoring all our goals but come on same could be said of messi at barca, ronaldo at madrid , van persie at man utd, Torres at Chelsea oops sorry lol my mistake

Anyone clock Mexes goal last night, wow thats three truly world class goal I've seen recently with Suarez's and Ibra's being the other two.
JohnBoy {Ed002's Note - Sahin plays for Turkey, not Germany.}

I think he meant when he played in Germany for Dortmund, and was young player of the season.

In Germany Ed, as in the Bundesliga. So for the misunderstanding.

Ed002,

If Rafa wins the league and we finish below 8th then the phrase ' egg on faces ' comes to mind.

Those who wanted him out because of one bad season have now got no more regular champions league football and a manager who has as much premier league experience as me aunt rose.
But potential is what it's about hey

Get over it mate and move on!

KJS

Lol come down for air.
RB

I think anyone could win the league if you were given Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Moses, Lampard, Ramires and the oprion to invest more in the January transfer window. Add to that they are only four points off the top and I wouldn't be surprised if Rafa done it.
Cant wait for the end of the season when Rafa leaves Chelsea and everone comes on here saying bring Rafa and Torres back, he will make us great again! Need to forget about the past and look to the future.

Jay

Some people want BR out after only a handfull of games . I think they should give there heads a good shake . Rafa was great for us but things changed in his last season I am sure he lost the players . Am I right in thinking that rafa and Torres had a disagreement when still at LFC ? Cheers

Sorry but when he left us we were in a mess. His handling of our club and letting go possibly the best midfielder in the world was pure genius. We have to look forward now. Rodgers will bring us back just give him time. J.h

There is more chance of rafa being sacked before end of season and then the term egg on face will a ply to you oh nameless one

kumber

Living in the past? Why is that lazy comment spouted out on such a regular basis when a manager who won us the Chsmpions League is mentioned? Or a former player is reminisced about?

It is not 'living in the past' but rather recognising that we have lost a great manager/player and replaced him with an unproven/sh!te one. If Suarez leaves Liverpool in January and someone's says in February Suarez should not have left and that we want him back are they living in the past? No. People are not living in the past they are recognising that the current set up is a disgrace and should not be settled for.

All this talk about rafa is so disrespectful to BR, personally in the 30 plus years of watching LFC play the beautiful game the last 6 months I have seen actual promise and progress for the first time in years, I love the fact Kenny came back and steadied the ship, the way he was sacked was wrong but the him going was right, I believe BR will prove to be a very good manager, and I hope for a long time at LFC,
The way Kenny was sacked was down to FSG, not BR, letting Carroll go and not bringing in a replacement in again not down to BR, our passing and general play is fantastic, all we need is a couple of experienced players including another forward and we can fly up the table,
Rafa and Torres are part of our amazing history,HISTORY. BR is our future.
Good luck to rafa and Torres I don't care what they do, I care about our future and I believe in BR, FSG I'm not sure about. But if they back us for a couple more players and give BR time then I will admit I'm wrong, but in general our future is bright under Brendan, good luck tonight I'm going for a 3-0 win

Agree!

People are going to go on about Rafa as they feel there is unfinished business with LFC and that he should not have been sacked in the first place.

To be honest I am one of them. However, this could be a chance for EVERYONE to draw a line under it, get 100% behind BR and the team and let whatever happens, happen.

If he is a success he will stay at Chelsea.
If BR is as successful as I and a lot of other people feel he will be there will be no need to think about what players/managers we should or could have had.

I hope he does well, but not to the detriment to us.

Who knows, if he loves us as much as he acts like he does, he might offer us a swap of Mata, Oscar and Hazard for Carroll, Downing and Cole :-).

Hi Ed's; really love this site, and you guys do a great job and there are some fantastic posters on here, but is there any chance you can filter some of the people who constantly come on here with their personic comments! I have been a LFC supporter of 39 years and cannot believe some of the people on here. The disrespect they show towards LFC players, Ex LFC players, the Manager, The board, Ex managers etc its beyond belief; that is not what a LFC supporter should ever do, this is what Man Utd supporters do, we always had class, and even in banter would not stoop so low as some of these persons! here are 2 examples from some of the more recent threads; 1. first El Nino; Torres was a fantastic servant for us, yes it hurt (like hell!)when he left, get over it, although the money we got was wasted, if it had been used properly we could have rebuilt properly, unfortunately an LFC legend made mistakes in the transfer market, Torres is now a shadow of the player he was, but good luck to him; 2. Benitez loved LFC with all his heart but constantly got stabbed in the back, he was an amazing manager not truely appreciated on these shores because of the fergie led media witch hunt against him, just like Suarez at the moment. but he has moved on, and good luck to him! but the vitriol, OMG seriously, the Alonso saga, Aquilani, the duds he bought, stop reading the garbage in the media, what about being ranked no.1 in europe and the world, hammering the likes of Real, Man U, and beating the likes of Barca home and away, i bet those very fans who b*itch about him would kill to have that again! Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some of the vitriol on here is just down right nasty and not becoming of LFC supporters. We support OUR team through thick and thin, we support OUR players through thick and thin, we support OUR manager through thick and thin, and we Fan should stick by each other through thick and thin, something we demonstrated through the various tragedies and injustice we have faced throughout the decades; WE ARE LFC!! We Never Walk alone! never forget that! Peace out {Ed002's Note - The bad stuff already gets filtered out, this is what is left.}

So this is the good stuff! Jesus!

Hello Ed's, I know you have said in the past that there is no chance of Cavani coming to Liverpool. However, I keep reading more and more speculation that his agent is claiming that he wishes to speak with Liverpool. I was just wondering if you could ellaborate if there was any truth to that. Thanks, by the way this is a great site, thanks a lot. Lucas {Ed002's Note - That is an easy one. There is no truth to it whatsoever. It is someone just toying with gullible fans - no more.}

Today he is apparently waiting to see what happens at Atletico Madrid in January {Ed002's Note - Er, no.}

Ed002 did you see rafa coming {Ed002's Note - Hard to miss. He could lose a few pounds).

Seriously, efforts were made to try and persuade Guardiola but he confirmed he wanted to stick to having the season off. Once that was clear there was little doubt that it would be an interim solution. Two people were spoken to and now we have Benitez thru the end of the season.}

Who was the other person the club spoke to? {Ed002's Note - It is unimportant.}

Mark Hughes was the other..but he realized the Qpr job right now is safer than the chelsea job so he refused..

Hi eds and reds!

Alexandre Pato's agent is set for a meeting with the AC Milan board following reports the striker is unhappy at San Siro.

The 23-year-old came on as a second-half substitute in the Rossoneri's 3-1 win over Anderlecht on Wednesday night and scored his side's third and final goal, before reportedly threatening to quit the club after the game.

"If Alexandre said certain things, then he must have had his reasons," Gilmar Veloz told TMW.

"I want to get a better understanding of the situation with Milan before anything happens.
"I will arrive in Italy on Tuesday, I will speak with Pato and then with the club to evaluate what to do next. I do not want to say anything more at the moment because I would not want to say inexact things.

"I do not know if he can leave Milan. Ask me the same question once I have spoken to all parties."

Pato has made seven appearances for the Serie A giants this season, scoring two goals.Your thoghts fans and eds.

Aneesh {Ed002's Note - There is every chance that he will leave MIlan if they can find a buyer at the right price. However, a summer move after the new manager has been appointed may be a consideration.}

People who are saying, Rafa didn't give us Istanbul, Gerrard, Alonso and etc did...well it's like saying your father had no part in your birth, because you came from your mother's womb.

I never wanted Rafa back, but good luck to him. I hope the fans give him the respect he deserves. I just can't believe some of our fans are just as fickle as Chelsea's.

Jack D.

Rafa picked a team that went 3-0 down , if it had been left to him it would have ended 6-0 , he was rescued by Finnan's injury ( Hamann came on at half time ) . Read Carragher's book .

Gerrard , Hamann and Alonso rescued Rafa that night . He took us to four major finals and never once picked a winning team , 2-3 , 3-3 , 3-3 , 1-2 , .

2-3 , 3-3 , 3-3 , 1-2 - as Rafa would say - FACT !

How many managers since 1986 have taken us to the European cup/champions league final in the first place?!

Loss, won the trophy, won the trophy, loss.

Just forget about the runs to the finals, we must have only played 1 game in them seasons then.

Also at half-time in Istanbul - Rafa was in such a panic that he ordered ten players to play in the second half - until one of the players pointed it out that we were a man short.

He didn't have anything to say apart from "keep going". 'Arry would be proud.

Genius alright.

BJH YNWA

ps - He just signed up to win the World Club Championships and claim it as another amazing triumph of Rafa.

pps - Like Houllier, Rafa was once a good manager - until he cracked.

We're playing better football now after 6 months of Brendan Rodgers taking over than we ever did under Benitez IMO. People need to turn the page and get over it.

Any team predictions for tonight? Just to get us back on the subject of our own club and the fact that we could possibly qualify for the Knockout stages tonight if results go our way, doing that with a game to spare, a difficult group and one of the smallest squads we have ever had. Hats off to BR if he pulls it off.

Jay

Im going for a 3-1 win tonight. Thoughts?

It's a difficult one do you start with a strong side ie Gerrard and Suarez or do you keep them on the bench and only use them if needed. I would go for the latter. I tell you some thing the weather is terrible quite heavy rain all day in liverpool forcast for tonight is no better so the ball will zip about on the surface which should really suit us. I'll go for 4-2

Rocky! the 08 09 season was the best football i've seen LFC play since 87 88 we wiped the floor with top top team's home and away! Just falling short of the title but beat our record with point's! So your either punch drunk or need to go to specsaver's if your suggesting that Buck is playing better football than what Rafa did!

not many are stating the fact thats reported that rodgers read the book williams wrote and said it was ok to be published.he should have stopped at swansea which is his level.
tonywebbo

How do you suppose BR could have stopped publication, stop looking for reasons to criticise him. If you dont like the way the club is being run go and give you'r so called support to some other club

It's fair enough to make the point that you don't agree with an appointment. However this incessant whining is serving only to undermine the club and what it's trying to achieve. If people like you continue to divide the supporters, then of course you will have been correct all along as you are contributing to the demise.

We all clear?

22 Nov 2012 12:57:16
And then you go and whine when Alex says we ruined owens career , ur busy here doing the same thing.
We dont care what rafa does or who chelski hire, its none of our business, it will not affect us in any shape or form.
Let it go already, rafa didnt win that Uefa , SG did .

U people are the same people that cry over an ex giflfriend long after shes married .

Give it a rest already, oh and by the way we have a ''game tonight''

^ No Rafa did'nt win it and neither did SG LFC won it! Football is a team game no individual won the European cup! UEFA can't put individual's name's on the cup that's why it say's 04 05 winner's as LFC!

rafa has sined for two seasons. winter and spring.

rafa gave us istanbul, i will always be thankful for that and he will always be rememberd for that.
he also sold alonso, bought in aquillini. do not wish him well as by doing so u wish chelsea well and they like man u everton etc are competition.

marker

Stevie G, Didi Hamman, Smicer, Alonso and Dudek etc gave us Istanbul.

Being rated Number 1 in Europe means nothing unless you are winning trophi

So - let me get this right - when we win
it is down to the players and when we lose it is down to the manager?

Theres been alot of things said and printed by the media, on the amount of money Brendan Rodgers has to spend in January. The fact is probably only four people will know how much he will be allowed to spend. John Henry Tom Werner Ian Ayre and Rodgers. We all know they Messed it up in the summer transfer window, Lets all hope by the end of January we feel better than we did on the last day in August Oh and it wont be long before some lazy journo writes Gerrard To Chelsea Now that Rafa is there Deano95

There's people on here that know how much loose change Brendan has in his pocket ;)
kidmillions

Yes - but I bet they can't say, with certainty what pocket that change is in - or could they?

John B

They messed up in the summer but they admitted their mistake and wrote a letter the very next day to apologize. This hows that they care about Liverpoool Football Club!

Or down the back of his settee...

I heard he has a cat in his pocket and a vile of poison along with said change, bet someone on here knows whether the cat is dead or alive!

Eds ,fellow reds .what if rafa has a shocker out of top 4 by New Years maybe out of cup ,will roman terminate his contract ? 3 managers in one season is that legal {Ed002's Note - He'll be there until the end of the season, no doubt bolstering his chances of the Real Madrid job.}

Ed002 ,where do you see Jose then city or utd {Ed002's Note - I would doubt he will go to either.}

Rafa is off abroad, probably RM and then Mourinho will take over Chelsea. We all see it don't we, especially the Mourinho bit?

Benitez's game is based on a counter attacking 4-2-3-1 which quickly becomes a 4-5-1 when defending to close the space down. He relies on pressing from the flanks. Lets face it he is not going to get that at chelsea with hazard and Mata.

Also, he relies on pace upfront and creative midfielders who can move the ball quickly to the forward.

And then there is the question of zonal marking the players would get time to adapt to.

I personally think that Roman just pressed the self-destruct button for no reason at all. I can see chelsea dropping out of the top 4 before the new year.

Sunny

Can we ban the Chelsea gossip:(
kidmillions {Ed002's Note - I can't understand the obsession either.}

27 games remaining..and if he wins 25 out of them however the formation is...
they will win the PL...i hopr thats what Roman wants..and out of that if torres scores 20 goals...thats enough..

Unless you support chelsea why is it a concern?

Rafa is part of ther fabric of LFC just like Kenny why do some "fans" feel the need to slag them off or criticize them?

Wish Rafa luck and let it go Henry did not want Rafa he Choose Rodgers

Rafa cannnot be expected to sit around waiting for Henry to call him.

Jahovah

Hardly an obsession ed; one of our most recent and successful managers has just joined chelsea, a notable point worth discussing in many ways. A big mistake for both parties imho but still a talking point {Ed002's Note - It is an obsession with looking back and failure to look forward.}

22 Nov 2012 11:55:08

Seems Ashley Williams has had a go at Suarez in his book. I wonder what effect this might have on his readers? Maybe they will both stop watching Liverpool play?

Just saw the article. I find it so unbelievable that he says that Suarez is the worst diver in the Prem's history. Do names like Ronaldo, Valencia, Drogba and Ashley Young slip his mind? I find it so irritating that everyone tries to make an example out of Suarez when he really isn't half as bad as people make him out to be.

HazRed

That's the only thing interesting in his book, playing against suarez must be pervillege. Congratulation to him hi made it on the news hi got his 5 min fame

22 Nov 2012 12:22:23
Don't worry original poster, I got your joke ;)

Maybe they will 'both' stop watching us play. Suggesting that only two people will read his book? C'mon people, the banter page has got gems throughout, gotta look for them and have a laugh!

YNWA! (Adam)

To be honest, all this about Suarez diving? Yet I can't think of a single dodgy penalty or even a free kick that's been won by Suarez? If anyone can think of one let me know? I can think of a few that he hasn't got? I do see him complaining to the ref if he doesn't get the decision but all players do that. He sometimes appears to go down easily yet tv replays have shown it's not always the case and he should have got the decision. Even last week Czech said he could've gone down when one on one with him but he didn't. Thing with Suarez is he nutmegs an awful lot of defenders and they see their ass:)
kidmillions

Looks like a transfer to Liverpool won,t happen now. Pi**ed on his chips as far as that goes.
Robbie

Just like that Arsenal defender, you don't even remember these players' name. The only time they make it in the news when they slag off someone like Suarez.

HK

Its all about selling books, so mouthing off about suarez the top goal scorer and the man of the moment he's hoping will sell more copies of his crap who gives a rubbish mick lfc

Williams book will sell more with the Suarez comment than without, it has already got on national news, so he's smart in a sense jumping on the Suarez bandwagon of negativity.

My take on it is, diving is immoral but no one cares if they win. Because it has been like this for quite a long while now, there is an element of players who will dive to win, they won't often dive when they are 4-0 up, or when the game means nothing, only when it's important and they are not winning at the time.

So, if anyone wanted to stop diving, which no one really does. We'd stop giving awards to the Ronaldo's, Drogba's, Robben's and now Suarez's of the game. Including the poxy Ballon D'ore Pour Homme thing, as a basic universal start to eradicating diving from football with basic philosophic understanding that cheating is wrong.

Then we'd look back on instant replays to see if contact was made in the box. But no one important in Fifa/Uefa/F.A's wants to do that. Like i said, players only tend to do it in big matches or when the scores are very close, so it's not like every decision would need to be examined, only the ones that could/would decide a match inside the box, if it works and is efficient, then maybe to decisions outside the box.

Also Fifa/F.A's should come after players who have been shown conclusively diving.
Until they do, diving is a part of the game and now players get booked for diving, which means they have to con and trick the refs and this means the most deceitful of players can win by diving very convincingly. Which again is immoral and a bad example to set. But i don't think anyone of power in the game cares to the point of sorting it out once and for all.

Now Rafa's at Chelsea I think the rumours of a Torres return should be put to bed. Rafa will get the best out of him at Chelski.

I think the best has already been sucked out of him.

HazRed

Fair comment , but can I ask in good faith , are you of the opinion that he just needs to cheer up to start scoring goals , like many of the posters on here ?

22 Nov 2012 11:21:28
To be fair to Mancini none of the English sides would have done any better in that group. Dortmund and Madrid are on a different level.
kidmillions
______________________________
Nope kidmillions mate city have more then 15-20 world class players if they had a class manager they would trash teams like madrid and dortmund but they have average manager who doesn't use his resources properly and that's why other managers don't respect Mancini when you have unlimited attacking players why play 5 at the back he kills man city before even ball kicks with his tactics.

Your deluded if you think City have better players than Dortmund and Madrid. The results prove I'm right. City are unbeaten in the Premier League where there not meeting teams in that class.
kidmillions

22 Nov 2012 12:28:49
Kidmillion your only the poster who thinks Dormund or Ajax are champions league winners back to school mate coz you have worst knowledge of footy oh Rodgers is new shankly haha

We are all deluded in some way or another.

We al like our delusions

City have 15/20 World class players? Let me think YaYa,Kun,Silva er, er, er, er, er, no that's it.

No name poster is all mixed up:) where did you get Ajax from:):) If you don't think Dormund are seriously good side? then I'm afraid it's you that doesn't know what your talking about.
kidmillions

Gotta agree with Kidmillions, Dortmund are unbeaten in almost 40 games so they really should be pushing for a run in the champions league. Ajax probably aren't though! And I can't remember Kidmillions ever saying Rodgers is the new shankly!

Please leave your name next time random poster

Kidmillions is right. Both Dortmund as Real are streets ahead of City right now. Anyone can see that.

Ajax manager says mancini is average manager who is hiding behind money
----------
That's enough fo me mate

You mean Real Madrid and Dortmund are better teams than man city. In terms of individual players city have aguero, teves, yaya toure, silva, kompany. Only Madrid better them in that aspect. But in terms of a team...they have a long way to go.

22 Nov 2012 13:20:33
Kidmillions is correct, although if you were to value each player from each club, the number wouldn't be that different, but in terms of footballing quality, well money cant always buy that!
WelshBoyDave

22 Nov 2012 13:23:28
Yaya, Kun, Silva...

They have a few more decent players mate.

Hart, Richards, Zabaleta, Lescott, Kompany, Clichy, Kolarov, Barry, Nasri, Milner, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli.
+Yaya, Aguero and Silva, that makes 16 imo very good players. Dortmund and Madrid are excellent teams, but City have really underachieved. Ajax although great, should be cannon fodder to City.

Thats a top, top squad... but that group is the worst I've seen since the Euros group of Death!

YNWA! (Adam)

Tell me how many players would be starters in the RM side - I can think of maybe Aguero, and possibly occasionally Silva, Tevez and Dzeko - the likes of Barry, Milner, Maicon, Zabaleta Nasri would'nt get a kick anytime.

John B

Of course but YaYa,Kun and Silva are the only genuine World Class players the others as you so rightly said are just good players.

22 Nov 2012 11:17:38
Just like to say wouldn't it be great to buy 3/4 players from the likes of the Balkans somewhere ( that have produced some world class over the years ) or eastern Europe that would cost a total of say 10 million. Real gems that slipped under the radar, the likes who other clubs might of felt weren't able to step up. Probably doesn't happen so much now but it would be great. Also can anyone tell us whether the scouts from Man City that Rodgers recruited for his backroom staff have started or are still on garden leave and do we have any of Man City youngsters in our sights now or when they start? {Ed002's Note - Hiring Manchester City scouting staff does not mean that Liverpool will be buying their players.}

Wasn't asking are Liverpool buying Man City players just asked were there any in there sights from there youngsters which some of there scouts may have brought to Man City i.e 14/15 year olds, not the most bizarre thing to happen. {Ed002's Note - I think you rather misunderstand what background these folks have. This is nothing to do with young kids from England.}

Fair enough you could of said that in the first response and it was only a question so obviously I didn't understand the backround or I wouldn't of asked the question in first place! {Ed002's Note - It was a different question you asked.}

22 Nov 2012 11:13:37
A lot of speculation about strikers and midfielders on here. Is anyone else concerned that Carra isn't a consistent PL player anymore, Coates still looks rather green and Skrtel and Agger are prone to injuries? Eds- what viable centre back options do the club have if we look to consolidate there in the summer? {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off to be speculating over targets. What about the younger players?}

Stop worrying you'll give yourself a hernia.

We have lots of options Coates is getting better every time he plays, Wisdom is playing at RB more so id expect to see Kelly playing as a CB (his preferred position). I think our Striking and Goal Keeping options are higher priority than centre backs.

So , the first thing Rafa does is to say Torres will never again reach the level of his first year at Liverpool , something most of the posters on this site would agree with .

Do the '' Torres returns to Anfield '' posters feel like persons now , most of whom suggested that , back at LFC ,he would cheer up and return to top form ?

Torres is history , the player that we knew no longer exists .

Ed , I see Swearathon is plugged in , I won't use that word again even if it is in the dictionary .

Really..so u dont like history..
means u dont like liverpool...
strange all day we talk about our history..
and someone doesnt like history in torres case....

Stop talking about history you muppet! History is behind you and has no requirement that makes it important in supporting a club in the present. Fans like you hold us back as a club.

At least we're each others rivals and supposed to dislike each other I can't remember ur rivalry with them in the 80s?, it's only when they started winning stuff. One word -- BITTER

Allow me to speak for the masses when I say....

"huh?

I hated them, when they were in the old 2nd division. They the mancs have always been jealous of Liverpool City's World wide fame. LFC.The Beatles, The Mersey Sound, The humour, The World Famous waterfront. While Manchester is landlocked and surrounded by motorways. Liverpool on Merseyside is home to some of the best beaches and golf courses in the Country, surrounded by quaint villages and fabulous open parks and countryside.

Wished everyone would shut up about Rafa and Chelsea it's driving me mad!! Although one last question to ED002: Any truth in the Gareth Barry to Chelsea rumour:)
kidmillions

The first signing of benitez will be jovetic, this is the kind of player rodger shudv bought, no borini no allen wen u had aquaman, gerrard, hendo, jonjo, lukas, kuyt, carrol, and etc, in the misfield and strike, everybody knows kuyt strugle on finishing matter so wy bring another 1 (borini) another finishing flop and on top let carrol goes, y allen wen u got a good midfield power, wif allen made it backward, benitez its kind of player dosnt matter if is his signing or another manager signin if he dosnt perform ye just bench them or sold them. rodger want 2 prove his signing allen every single game playes, borini every single game on the bench obiously he cqnt start wen we got suarez, kenny until the end of season he always wanted to prove his signing downing always start wile the performer on the bench maxi, adam always start and hendo shudve tried or jonjo, but hendo always out of posisition and, and jonjo bench becouse ue show better midfiled in spearing and adam. this is 1 of the caracter benitez dosntve, dosnt care how much a player must cost, or wot kind of star u xpect him to b but if he dosnt perform, sorry u r on the bench, and he tries another option, well the best change rodger has done is moving enrikes forward, its just matter of time he pik up hendo instead of allen, or if he bench lukas 4vallen {Ed002's Note - Benitez will not at Chelsea when Jovetic moves in the summer.}

Ed..whats ur actual problem with benitez...
and u know where are we sitting in the league..
2 wins ou of 8 in anfield..
better than benitez right {Ed002's Note - I don't have any problem with Benitez - what makes you think that?}

So ed002. Its a contract until the end of the season irrespective of how well he does? No clauses, just a contract until the end of the season? Could he get another contract?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - He is contracted until the end of the season. I would guess if he retains the Champions League and wins the EPL and FA Cup he would be well placed to ask for a new contract. But for now, Chelsea have cleansed the coaching staff and Benitez, Bolo and probably one TBA are in through to the summer only.}

22 Nov 2012 09:23:32
Now that Rafa has gone to Chelsea can we all move on and support the current LFC manager and team without wishing the manager fails and gets the sack so someone else can come in? Surely the point of being a supporter is that you support through thick and thin - even if you don't like the manager surely you should still want success for your club?
Rafa - some LFC fans still love him, some don't, Most Chelsea fans not impressed with his appointment but I'm sure that will change if he starts winning games.....same with BR.
Anyone disgruntled with either BR or Rafa being in charge of their club should count themselves lucky - we could be stuck with a totally inept manager like the QPR fans!
So who gets your vote for the worst manager currently in the EPL? Mine would go to Hughes, spent money wherever he has been and been a failure everywhere (apart from Blackburn where he did ok) but STILL gets employed and STILL gets funds to spend, at the moment he took over from Warnock who was doing okish, spent millions and has now got a worse team.
Close runner up would be Mancini - how much money has he spent and still nowhere near good enough in Europe - I sometimes think they won the league in spite of him, not because of him with his constant system changes....last night they needed a goal, so he takes off a striker and brings on Milner!
So who gets your vote for best manager in EPL? Well through very gritted teeth and it pains me to say that my vote would have to go to......Moyes. He has been at Everton for many years had very little money to spend in comparison to some other managers, buys well and more often than not Everton are in the top half of the league above bigger spending teams.........good manager but I hope his team falls well below LFC by May!

To be fair to Mancini none of the English sides would have done any better in that group. Dortmund and Madrid are on a different level.
kidmillions

Excellent reply...
none of the english team would have made any difference...

Sick of being linked with sturridge, Walcott etc
They are not good enough for Liverpool even traore useless.
Would anyone buy a car with a months mot no so why pay excessive fees for players that are free in the summer.
We are slowly creeping up the table so keep our money and buy big in the summer. Use the kids
They are there and ready to step in. Rant over sorry {Ed002's Note - Sturridge is not free in the summer. TRaore is not free in the summer.}

Disagree re Walcott

When you say ''keep our money '' , are you seriously suggesting that we continue with one striker at the club ?

Even the average teams have four . Suarez is on four yellow cards .

Walcott and Sturridge score goals and would benefit from playing regularly alongside Suarez wouldn't any player?
kidmillions

Who exactly is 'good enough' for Liverpool that we could A: Attract and B: Afford at the moment & C Available in January.

You are correct that we are creeping up table but that would soon stop should Suarez get injured or suspended.

Agree that we should not buy for sake of buying and spend big in summer but if we can somehow get 4th or at least qualify for europa league we would have better chance of attracting and more finances available to buy the 'better players'

We do need to buy a striker in January and who is available at the right price and is ready to step in straight away? Walcott's contract running down hence any fee would not be his true value or he can sign a pre-contract agreement. Sturridge scored 8 in 13 at Bolton so is not useless....

Players like michu 2 mil, jelovic 6 mil, mirelles 6 mil demba ba free. Someone like this

I remember Jelavic being linked with us before he went to Everton - noone was impressed with this and everyone stated he would not be good enough for Premier league......

Did anyone know Michu before he joined swansea? If so would he have been rated good enough and accepted as a good transfer target by the fans?

Yes, we need to stop overspending, but our scouts have got to identify these kind of targets first and the fans need support whoever is brought in.... {Ed002's Note - Michu interested a number of clubs over the summer and chose Swansea over WBA and Sevilla.}

We don't need scouts Rogers only looking at players from chealsea-Swansea oh and reading. Champions leage here we come

I always liked mirallas at 6 mill he is a steal...
also liked martias suarez..
failed a medical..
but is there any chance of getting him in summer {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off to speculate on him. There are other issues that could also block a transfer.

Rafa himself has been reported saying
"the Chelsea contract is upto 18 months long ,and is worth £3m" {Ed002's Note - Twitter I suppose?}

No ed02, not twitter! {Ed002's Note - His contract runs until the end of this season.}

He may only work till the end but his contract is 18 months long from Rafa himself.

And why on earth would anyone believe what Benitez says - the man who never made a mistake, brought the phrase " Blame Culture " to LFC - always someone else's fault - never his.

Just telling the readers what Rafa said,am not telling you to believe it!

Look, I adored both Torres and Rafa when they were at our club and performing well, but that is in the past.

We now have another future with BR and the new team, and they deserve and should expect our full support and respect.

I have been one of the biggest critics of the latest appointment and I remain unconvinced, but optimistic for the future. BR is clearly very hardworking and has massive respect for the club. He also has a clear plan for the future and has already demonstrated his ability to bring the best out of some youngsters. I hope that he gets full backing, in terms of time and finance, from the owners, but just as importantly, the full backing from the fans particularly during games when we need to be vocal and positively supportive of the team. Lets help the team and club to success by making Anfield the most passionate and loudest stadium around. We can help make the future successful.

Well said. Our focus should b Rodgers n Liverpool. In the words of ed002, Rafa was just a transient employee of the club, who has moved on.

Highest Shirt worldwide in 2009 above rooney, ronaldo and even messi...
100 mill price tag.
most feared and deadliest striker on the planet.
most feared club in europe
the comeback kings
only person who ripped jose and alex wen in charge.

Name fernando torres.
coach rafa benitez
club liverpool

now this is history..
and liverpool always remembers history

What did we win in 2009? And exactly what went wrong in 2010 if what you say is true - ego's got the better of them eh, and exactly what does highest shirt sales mean? Certainly didn't mean success on the pitch.

Winning matches against certain managers and teams isn't good enough - you have to win matches against ALL teams.
Benitez tactics in ALL big games, don't try and win, play for penalties, we may have a chance.
His tactics made us the most boring team in the PL to watch.
2 trophies - 2 penalty shoot outs - say no more.

John B

Ridiculous...
So now we are playing excellent..so we are in CL..
now our buys are extra ordinary and we have bids for our player every month.
now we attract some of the best names in the world football.
we played for penalties..are u lost..
have we ever went old trafford and beat utd by 4 goals
can u repete that with current system
i am ready to give u another 100 mill and 3 years..
try to get into cl and beat the best in the world...

We all know that we need a new Left back, todays papers are saying that Arsenal are preparing a £6.5m bid for Jetro Willems of PSV, he is a really good defender, a bit like Johnson, can defend but also likes to get forward, he will no doubt be one of the best Left backs in the game in a few yeras time if he carries on the way he is, surely we could test the water with a bid.

Eds is there any interest from us.

BigD {Ed002's Note - None. You are clutching at straws.}

Sooner spend the money on Forwards goal scorers? Wouldn't you?

how long ago was it when rafa was offered the Chelsea job and he refused it.being he has now decided to take the job till the end of the season, why is this,is it because he can now redeem his self and show fsg that they made a mistake in going for rogers ? and you can bet your life torres will be nocking them in for fun.have you also considered that when we next play chelsea at anfeild what reception he will get when he walks out on the anfeild pitch. my god they will be chanting his name.wounder how rogers will feel like.

More like Roman desperately trying to redeem himself and prove he was right to buy Torres. There's no ego like a rich mans ego? I should know..:):)

There should be a ripple of applause for Benitez when he returns to Anfield followed by everyone singing Rodgers' and Liverpools' name at the top of their voices.

Hell No

There should be rapturous applause for RAFA

And Your geting saced tomorrow should be sung to BR

Good morning eds, I have you guys are doing well. I was just wondering with Rodolfo Borrell's impending promotion, was it something he specifically asked for, or are the club rewarding him for his fine work at the academy?

Thankyou in advance.

DownUnderRed. {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it. Sorry.}

22 Nov 2012 05:37:10
Ed, lot of talk of Drogba returning in the press over night?
If as suggested Falcao is a genuine target also, would that indicate that Torres is leaving? seems strange with Rafa just joining. {Ed002's Note - This is the Liverpool page.}

22 Nov 2012 05:33:19
Rafa to stop Fergie winning title 20, whilst we slowly rebuild. Fergie will be really pissed at that.

Rafa is a joke, what a record at Inter. LMAO

Then br and kk too will be a joke...
our current record is awful....

Kenny's past record as manger is incredible

He won the double as player manager

Kenny is the man

On the bright side, the press and Fergie will now have someone they hate more than Suarez!

He hates rafa more than his chewing gum when the r getting beat.Tommy Irish Red

**Most surprising comment of the week**

Long time fan of this site. Keep up the great work, ED's

I have 2 questions:
1. I've heard about this Alex Grimaldo kid from Barca who is supposed to a future world beater at LB. Are any clubs trying to snap him up a la Cesc/Toral/Bellerin to Arsenal?

2. How do you decide when to give a full response vs. telling the poster to use the search function(not trying to rile you up, just curious as I've seen both responses to questions about the same player)?

YNWA {Ed002's Note - (1) Grimaldo will certainly not be moving to England anytime soon. (2) As we get nearer the transfer window we will delete duplicate posts - much depends when someone last asked about a player.}

Adam,

Sturridge scored them goals playing on the right wing, so thats still not too shabby

Who would u reccomend instead? Someone who can play all 3 forward roles and sum1 who wont take suarez's central role as it would be a but strange to move the top PL scorer out wide

Not being sarcastic generally interested in what u thinks a better option right now

Shak Attack

It is good to have a sensible debate with someone for once!

I do think Sturridge would be a good option to play to the right of Suarez, but he the same as Walcott have made an issue lately about playing out there and wanting to play through the middle, and you obviously wouldn't move suarez.. so i dont feel he would be the right option. If it was up to me I would be looking at someone like ISCO from Malaga who is equally comfortable at playing out wide or through the middle, can score goals and is used to playing in the sort of system we are trying to implement.

To all those Rodgers lovers.
You are about to see the difference between class, and wannabe.
Fess up FSG.
If you want success, you have to pay for it.
Liverpool will languish amongst the Aston Villas and Stokes of this world. Without Suarez. Things would be a lot worse. I have nothing against Rodgers, but it is all too soon. A boy amongst men.
Real Lobo

Go support someelse then

Real Lobo is a QPR fan shhhhh don't tell

I think the clear out of his strikeforce didnt help and the man utd fixture list the rest of us get no time to get going and the hard fixtures r there ready from the start.Tommy Irish Red

We're first and foremost Liverpool fans and whomever is steering the club gets our full support. Rafa is gone now so is past tense , thanks for all he done but that was then this is now.. Brendan is the new man at the helm so lets get behind him and stop all this stuff about previous managers !

22 Nov 2012 01:10:39
enouugh of this rafa this or that...if not for rodgers most of all the youngsters would still be in the reserves right now...we should be praising him for being bold not rafa who didint buy them..the academy did that not him..

Rafa did buy most of the youngster's in our team! Sterling Suso Wisdom he even had the Shelvey deal done before he was sacked! He also set the foundation's for our academy so your very wrong with your negative post about a LFC legend!

22 Nov 2012 00:50:31
Eds. - how do you think Rafa to Chelsea has changed our prospects with their players eg Sturrridge, Nando etc? {Ed002's Note - Not at all.}

We're still not getting Torres. Praise The Lord

Here's hoping for a bit of the old Raffa/Fergie needle in the not too distant future.Whilst our great club is in its transitional period lets all get behind Raffa and Chelsea for the title !! B now posting as'' Beardsley's Boots''

I care about Lfc! And besides i'ld never want Manc u,Chelsea,or Everton to win Title no matter what ex Red and how much i once liked them is there.Historical and cultural differences to name just 2 reasons

Hi eds

Has there been any interest shown in iker munian? He would gig the profile but is he available, would he want to come? And if so could we do a swap deal with joe cole (sorry had to! But serious on the first two points)

Devon red {Ed002's Note - Muniain would perhaps have been interesting to the club in the past at half what was being asked for him. This has previously been done to death.}

22 Nov 2012 00:18:16
you can see how many rafa fans are gutted , to me he was a gentleman and we won the champs league and done well , but i still wont have him back because he divieds the supporters , and he always ask for too much money , lets see how much he gets for his new boss , who by the way will give money and has been genrous with all his managers , but i bet the dictator in him will surface once again and he will moan about money from the owner , as ive just said the owner is not scared to spend , so if im right he will start his speeches about the owner not giving him enough money , if im wrong i will hold my hand up , but no matter what he should never come back to liverpool because he will do the same as last time , i wish him well in his new venture , i wonder if chelski need to win he will take a striker of and put a defender on , rafa plays his favourite counter attacking style of play and his appointment is for torres , because under rafa torres was on form

Do you think Rafa made Torres play well? Or Gerrard? Or confidence?

What a silly question

The answer is simple

It was the majesty of Gerrard that shone on Torres and made him great

Hell I would be great playing alongside Gerrard

Eds,
I'm not a big fan of the January window. I'm fed up with liverpool being linked with every forward under the sun on this forum too. If we don't have funds to spend in January why don't we just wait till players like walcott and huntelaar become free agents.
Rebuilding an entire team takes time and patience, they are learning a new style of playing. With this said if we wanted to save money, but still improve our forward line, can we not follow in the steps of Everton and bring in MLS players on loan,or from other competitions.

At no point am i saying these are all targets I want however:
-Drogba asked fifa if he can be loaned.
-Landon Donovan has performed for Everton in the past
-Robbie keane will want to stay fit and wa s loaned last season
-Henry is knocking about(I suspect for if Walcott goes in jan)
-Van nistelrooy only retired last season and is known for poaching goals

Just some thoughts

Utter rubbish

We have got no money get used to it were gonna have to rely on craft n graft turning unknown players into world class players the liverpool ways of old just hope br is upto the task

21 Nov 2012 23:39:14
eds, seeing as rafa is only interim manager at chelsea, is he allowed to make signings in january, and if so, do you think he'll go after agger or skrtel seeing as he signed them for liverpool? (PLEASE SAY NO)

22 Nov 2012 00:16:26
I've just heard Chelsea have a press conference in the morning to announce the sacking of raffa for not winning anything in his reign at Chelsea

Rafa is gonna train torres up to be next chelsea manager as he spends most of his time on the bench anyway

22 Nov 2012 00:15:54
i like benitez and i dont blame for taking the job as he hasnt had a job in 2 years. i want him to be a good manager for chelsea but i dont want chelsea to be good.

22 Nov 2012 00:42:20
Yawn.
JohnBoy

Mixed feelings, for many, red and blue alike.

And how do you work that out? You do realise that CFC DO have a sugar-daddy so if Rafa IS good then RA will give him as much financial backing as he wants to make CFC as good as he wants!

Rafa had to take the job or he was gonna get his jobseekers allowance stopped
