There's one here which I think is in the public domain. Has all the latest squad updates. Carroll and Suarez are together in the middle, KK is centre at the bottom. Hope this helps!

Think Henderson should start so should Carroll

Carra will start, Kenny will want his experience, guts and glory attitude

Don't be too quick to write off Carra

Even if we lose against city (which i doubt we will) this weekend i wont be that bummed. I think most people would have been over the moon with 2/6 points from the chelsea/city games and we already have 3:-)

£500m to buy a place in the Europa League imagine how much Citeh will have to spend to get into the knock rounds of the Champions League

22 Nov 2011 21:48:01
could it be two defeats in a row this weekend for man city, it was for chelsea...

Let's not count our chickens, and tempt fate!

22 Nov 2011 21:45:12
licking my lips at the thought of utd in europa thurs nights it'll be some laugh i'll tell ye that they'll never live it down cant wait..JG..

If they'll never live it down how do we live down not even qualifying ?

We? are you sure your an lfc supporter there`s a hint of a manc of you...JG..

Yep I'm a Liverpool supporter and hate them with a passion but it's hard to laugh at the Mancs for playing in the Europa league when we didn't even qualify.

22 Nov 2011 21:43:20
looks like citeh are in the europa next year ouchhhhh gunna play havoc on there rotation for the rest of the year.......tiring game aswell might be a win on the cards?? it could have been four or five with the right player on the ball and if lavezzi didnt slip shame was hoping for a good hiding they got it but i wanted a spanking
jayblair89

I think yhey will still sneak 2nd in the group.

KT!

No way will they get 2nd. Villareal have to beat a strong n confident napoli side, which is highly unlikely.

22 Nov 2011 21:23:34
city defance look worst then chelsea. lucky hart save them and then post do the same.

22 Nov 2011 21:18:02
u need 3 quick attacking player to beat city. Hamsik, Lavezzi and Cavani. rest all can watch DM and Defance. we have Suarez but who is the Hamsik and Lavezzi for us ? Ilner is rock solid in LM. Hope Lucas can do that for us.

Bellamy & Downing?

Have to say, Napoli are wonderful on the counter-attack.

KT!

Bellamy and maxi

Dossena to the Uruguayan to put Citeh 1-2 down. LFc connection and could it be the week that uruguayans haunt citeh.

Chi-Paul {Ed002's Note - Dossena is Italian.}

Cavani is uruguayan

Ed i think he is referring to Dossena passing to the uruguayan 'cavani' who scored. correct me if im wrong chi-paul {Ed002's Note - My apologies then.}

Think he meant Dossena with the assist to Cavani ED.

KT! {Ed002's Note - Noted.}

I'm aware 002, hence "connection" and the "to". But it wasn't a very well written post LOL.

Chi-Paul

It was well written, it's called reenactment commentating.

Chi Paul don't apologize for it. Ed002, everyone gets tired lol

Do you have any rumours here or what? I think you just say " no, we are not in for him " all the time. Give us some of your info instead.

Which players do you think is likely to be signed in jan? {Ed002's Note - I have made my views clear on numerous occasions but you are too lazy to bother reading any other posts. If people ask dumb questions about players from Fantasy Manager or someone who played well on MOTD what answer do you expect?}

I'm not one for mocking people but this post made me laugh.

Ed(s) maybe you should make it a requirement of people using the site that they go through a short training program on how to use a search function. Seems like all that time spent using google doesn't rub off on forums.

I'm going to BOLD and say straight up... I think we can Man City this weekend! I got a feeling...

You missed you the crucial word?
Beat Man City?
Loose to Man City?
Be Man City (give everyone a pay rise)
Stop Man City?
Play Man City?
s**t-on Man City?

'you missed you the crucial word' ? hahhaa

Of corse we have a chance to beat them, they'll be playing with emotion just like chelski did because 1. they just got a hampering and b. we beat them last time around.

kuyt and henderson are terrible footballers. we need to get someone like hazard

Yep that terrible they play for LFC and you sit at home being jelous of them.

KT!

Henderson is not a terrible footballer, give the guy a chance, hes still young and has potential.. I think il agree with the Lfc scouts and daglish over you.
Kuyt has given everything he has for years and has been a regular for Holland which shows his value.

Dream on about Hazard..

Conor

How can people criticise kuyt? It's not as though he is rubbish every game. He is the most consistent performer currently wearing the shirt. Always a 6-8 out of 10 performance. I think he deserves a bit more slack and respect, he would bleed on the shirt to keep it red.

The economist

I for one am not criticising his consistent effort or work rate of his performances but i do believe there seems to be no end product which makes me wonder if someone else maybe able to provide a better service than him (perhaps bellamy switching sides with downing constantly)
stuart

If you judge Kuyt on end product, how come he's scored so many goals and got so many assists? Also as other football teams would queue up to take him off Liverpool (if we were willing to sell), shows the professionals have a better understanding of quality.
Henderson has been highly praised by Hamman, a better recommendation I can't think of.
So criticise away, the rest of us will wonder at such poor judgement and feel superior as a result :-)

Works hard, but misses so many goal scoring chances, if he could finish he would be invaluable but as it is i think its time to replace him....kingkennykop7

Dirk kuyt works hard

Looking forward to the Napoli game but cant be arsed listening to Ray Wilkins, his tones and general BS really wear one down.

I have been thinking about team on sunday nd i think caroll nd downing & henderson might start at expense of bellamy, kuyt nd maxi...reason being we would need lucas nd adam to support defence nd combat silva & yaya nd milner.hence caroll would play as lone striker with suarez nd downing occpying flanks nd henderson picking ball on conunter as attacking midfielder...bellamy if started could try too hard as he would love to rub in nd i think in second half with city little tired he could work well..maybe im wrong but i think this is our best tactical option to win against city...

22 Nov 2011 19:21:23
not a rumour just like to comment, i have been watching joe cole and eden hazard playing for lille just fantastic, break the bank for hazard, bring back joe ynaw belfast

Watched them v granted a very poor cska moskow side but how they work together is as if they can read each others thoughts they were brilliant

22 Nov 2011 19:20:34
if Liverpool are after anyone from the bundesligue, i suggest they should look no further than Marcel Jansen, i see him often on sis, the bookmakers live TV service and he is head and shoulders the best player in his team and is an out about workhorse, eye for goal ,great cross and speed in abundance!

22 Nov 2011 19:13:45
Just wana mention another very good game and goal for player i rate. Not given many chances first time round with us.=shelvey-again,excellent for Blackpool.Mr.Whinge

22 Nov 2011 19:03:37
Although Chavski game great result, and performance.Looking at our goals"for",column, would be fantastic if we could get a prolific goalscorer in.To finish the supply, who i dunno.Bow to others knowledge on that.Villa,Podolski?Bent?/Bigger names? But they probably would only come in summer,if then?!One things for sure we need one.Does everyone else agree? And if so,who?MR.Whinge

Luuk de Jong.

We have owners who have shown that they can spend big money AND find gems on the cheap Coates.... and yet everybody want Cahill ?? Is he really that good?

I dont think you can start calling coates a gem just yet?.....

Soon to be gem then if you want ti be picky. lol

Danny

Coates a gem lol.

More a liability

Seb just needs to acclimatise to the club. learn the language and he will be spectacular.

Going on coates performance today for the reserves he doesn't look like a gem!
Ls 7 -_-

You people are harsh. He was voted one of the youngsters of the tournament at copa america not too long ago and managed to steal the cb slot for uruguay of a more experienced player. Give him time people. He has only played a handful of minutes.

The Economist

Coates was solid for the ressies besides giving away the pen.

KT!

10 caps for Uruguay , played most of Copa America which Uruguay won, voted best young player of the tournament, all at the age of 21 and some of you idiots are calling him crap because he gave away a penalty in a reserve game when we were 3-0 up...

People are scraping the barrell to pick on a player now.

Lokoing for any reason whatsoever, what a bunch of moaning bitches

Good player, shame moving to real will ruin his career.

hi guys.I would like to think that i'm on honest and realistic fan.And people ruling out spurs after a few games were completely wrong.they beat aston villa with ease yesterday. And villa are a decent side..personally i think spurs have the best chance of top 4.I think chelsea will not get top 4 if they carry on defending like they have been.Arsenal are too reliant on RVP.And i'm pretty sure newcastle will not be there at the end of the season. I think it will be

Man city
Man united
Spurs
Liverpool
chelsea
arsenal

But i very well could be wrong.I twill be mightily close. thanks

Danny

Man city
Spurs
Man united
Liverpool
chelsea
arsenal

Man united
chelsea
city
spurs
arsenal
newcastle
liverpool

Its the same thing going through everyones head. Due to our form, we'll come 4th, due to Spurs form they'll finish in the top 4 and the two Manchester clubs finishing there.

People are forgetting Arsenal due to their poor start to the season and Chelsea because of their bad form.

Just want to tell you all that there are still 26 games left in entire premier league. A maximum of 78 points still available, anything can happen.

Just stay behind the team and we can do it.

RenegadeRed

I can't call the top 4 this season, it's definetly going to be the most open season for a long time..!

Myk

Man City
Man Utd
Liverpool
Chelsea
Spurs
Arsenal

One RVP gets injured, Arsenal are screwed.

I could maybe see Tottenham finishing above Chelsea if they dont improve. £75 million for Torres and Luiz is shocking.

Personally, and I know you will hate me for saying it, I think the league will look like this...

Man utd
City
Chelsea
Liverpool

United are well experienced in this competition and despite city's great start I dont think Balotelli and Aguero will do so will in our snowy winter. Chelsea have the muscle to buy their way back into third spot. We are a work in progress but I feel we are better than spuds and Arsenal.

Just watched the reserve game and I was very impressed. The four lads from the first team squad (Coates (1), Spearing (2), Wilson and Flanno) were fantastic.
A quick word about Nathan Ecclesone though. He's come back from a loan spell at Rochdale and scored two excellent goals, really accomplished finishes. The first with a Bergkamp-esque turn on the defender and for the second he showed blistering pace before slotting past the keeper. I know that scoring a couple of goals at reserve team level makes no body a world beater but I'd sort of forgot about him with the emergence of Adam Morgan.
Do any of you think that he may get a run out for the first team squad in any of the cups this season? After all, a loan spell is to get first team competitive football under your belt. He's come back and put in a great performance. Our academy is very strong at the minute and I'm sure in he future some of these lads will be key players for LFC.

Thanks,
Chris

When I've seen him in first team games (rare as it is) he has looked a little out of his depth and hurries his decisions a little. This could be a lack of experience or could be lack of football intelligence. Hope its the former because he' quick and does have some natural finishing ability.

Rewflo

Note : just funny techno error i thought id share, when i wrote finishing ability first time, auto correct wrote fingering ability ha ha. These phones aren't that smart are they

@Rewflo:
I agree with you, when he's been in the first team he did rush his decisions and look out of his depth but he was really young and probably a nervous wreck! Personally, I'd put it down to lack of experience but he's come back from his loan spell a little older, wiser and seems hungry to do well. I wonder what Kenny and the coaching staff have planned for him. Granted he's not the best young striker I've ever seen but may be able to do a job?

On a side note: Luis Suarez was parked up watching the reserve game, I thought that was great to see. Although he may have been there to pick his good friend Coates up, as the cameras only caught him at about the 80 minute mark..

Chris

Terrific result on Sunday, absolutely important three points.
Provides for a nifty springboard going into our monumentally crucial rendezvous with Moneybags this Sunday.
No doubt our sternest test thus far.

What concerns so much about this game isn't so much City's admittedly immense might as our profligacy.
Our inability to score is exceedingly alarming.

For all the possession and many a ton of (clear-cut) chances created, goals have been incredibly a rare occurences.
We just can't finish off the opposition.
The callous, ruthless ease with which we literally walked the ball into the net and killed off teams 2nd half last season, where's it gone?

I know we'll tear the ass off City Sunday, but whether we'll do enough to actually bag the three points I'm not sure.
Profligacy, profligacy, profligacy!
Wean that off and we'll definitely bag it.

I'd not change the team that started against Chelsea.
The English contingent should again be banished to the bench, especially Downing and Carroll.

Downing's been nothing short of abysmal. Got off the mark fairly well but has since gone off the boil.
Needs to knuckle down, really get beavering.

Carroll more than anything is a hindrance. He can be good at times, but that's a rare occurence.
You want consistent and consistently improving players, not lazy deadbeats lumbering and s**tting all over the pitch.
Will this Carroll stone ever settle in its mortar. Doubt.

Young Jordan, as I've always maintained, is a very talented young footballer destined to play a big part in this club's future.
My gripe with him has always been his shirking responsibility and playing below his true ability.

The lad needs to take more responsibility, immerse himself in the game. He can create and he can score goals.
He just has to believe it and actually do it.

The minimum that anyone touted as "the next Gerrard" needs possess is desire to take responsibility, be in the thick of, and influence, things.
So young Jordan, pull your out, kid.

Lastly, I've heard talk of the interest in Kagawa, Reus and the like.
Now, I don't mean to be negative here, but aren't people getting ahead of themselves?

Considering that Dortmund are in a far better position/level than us right now.
So honestly, what would make Kagawa, indeed a talented and much sought after player, want to come to us?

Let's be realistic here, chaps. Our best chance of acquiring such talent is if (1) the player has especially designated Liverpool as his preferred destination (Torres), or if (2) none of the more presently attractive teams come in for him (Suarez).

As it is, we're not in a good place, so attracting high calibre players.
So that's why it doesn't surprise me that we looking at kids like De Jong and Sissoko.

They just about fit the bill. Like Suarez when we signed him, talented, no hype and not in too much demand from relatively more attractive teams.

Here's to hoping that Kenny don't bugger up whatever kitty we have again this January.
How we behave this window may just decide our fate.

Baie dankie

Ray Burmeister

Ur right abt downing n carrol. Very poor players for the hefty prices we paid for them.
Indian Buzzer

The price doesn't matter buzzer, it's the support you give them to help them become better, but that is what you are lacking in.

KT!

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what has Dalglish ever done for us?

I was enjoying you post until you started ripping in to our team like some sort of red top reporter, so I stopped reading. You're entitled to your opinion but it doesn't spark anything positive, which is what we need. I'm sure you may have finished on a positive note, I'll never know. There's my opinion anyway.

Myk

3rd reply down, that is so funny.

Bought peace?

JRG

Its been nearly a year since carrol signed for us. N u still want to give him more time to adjust? Class players do not need a year to settle in a different atmosphere like suarez, aguero, .....
We were robbed by Newcastle, n im pretty sure KK knows it as well. As long as andy is at liverpool, i shall support him, but its painfully obvious that he will never be a top4 striker.

ed do you know of any interest in douglas costa? He seems perfect for us {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Chelsea, Rubin Kazan, Napoli, Manchester City and no doubt many others have been interested in the player. I don't believe Liverpool have shown any interest though.}

He makes a good cup of coffee though.

This is Mike Ashley from Newcastle, I come in peace!

I am aware I sold you some duff goods, but to show I am an honest man I will offer you the best striker on these Islands! only £25m. he has pace to burn, can pick defenders pockets like a Scouser in London! and scores goals for fun!

"Shola Ameobi, get in the helecopter, Mr Dalglish is waiting!

Afternoon Ed sorry to jump on the back of this post but I can't seem to get anything posted if I send from my iPhone so I'm trying through the mobile site. I've tried the "post rumours" page on the mobile site but that tells me there is a fatal error so I'm trying anything.

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I'll let the IT guru know Chris.}

Alright Chris, should've listened to Ed001 and gone with Android mate. Only joking. Long time no arguments, i've really missed em. Hope you box your phone so we can get into a debate or 2 pal. Jonson

Hi Jonson mate, yeah it's been a while but it seems I can only get a post through if I "reply" on the mobile site. I must admit I thought I had been banned for something although I dunno what cos I never say anything controversial. As for us having a debate I'm not sure we should go there at the moment cos I think actually we agree on most things but the one major thing we disagree on is Carroll and the least said about that the better!

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - If you want to be banned Chris we can organize that. Gives you street credit with the vegetables and knuckle draggers.}

Very true about the Carroll situation. Let's just agree to disagree on that one or we'll be at it for however long or short time he'll be here. If i'm still allowed to post Chris you must be getting as paranoid as me mate. Can I suggest a take a few valium, they worked wonders for me ha ha. Good luck with your phone. Jonson

I'm very happy with Sundays result, but was wondering what you guys thought(Ed also) of Mata on Sunday against us. There were a lot of people clamoring for us to sign him over the last 2 transfer windows. Thats the 2nd time I've seen him play against out team and I think he has been avarage in both games. I know its not a lot (2 games ) to go on but 28M or what ever it was he just doesn't stand out for me. Thoughts............

Chi-Paul

Mata is an extraordinary player. he has crap players at chelsea, hence cannot realise his full potential.

Just watching the reserves on LFCTV.

3-0 up against Sunderland at H/T.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I bloody love Jay Spearing!

Hunger, attitude, desire. I hope the lad gets an extended chance at some point.

Matt S - YNWA

You can see he's on another level the rest of both teams midfield.

KT!

Not enough talent tho

Spearing is a very good player, he is a bit unfortunate tho because there are so many better midfielders ahead of him so unless Lucas is rested or injured he is the only other midfielder capable of playing the holding midfield role

Lucas is very good now as his experiance. but problem is Lucas sometime just not in the field like he dont know what to do. and that littel time also oposition score a goal. spearing is hard working. I am sure keeny have an eye on him, if he continue play good football then sure he will in reguler.

^^^^^ did you say lucas doesn't know what to do? is this because he has a MIA pass now and then? lucas' one touch passes to suarez is crazzzyyy good. he knows what to do on the ball mate i dunno what games you watch.

you must be playing legend mode or something and he must always lose the ball.

ed i am going 2 ask this question bcoz my heart z broken & am very anxious. z really liverpool interested in some fowards & wingers . I don't c an chances of top 4 in the current team. tell me sum major names on de list. {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts and use the search function to see what little we know of the plans for the winter. I have no idea what you are expecting but suspect you will perhaps be a little disappointed. I rather think the team is doing pretty well and is on course to be in the mix for the European places. It is a pity so few Liverpool fans agree with me.}

You should just tell him Neymar & Ganso ED, atleast his poor little heart won't be broken anymore.
Try a box of chocolates or some flowers that may cure it.

Our current 1st 11 when fit:

Reina
Johno Carra Agger Enrique
Lucas Adam
Gerro Suarez Downing
Carroll

Potential 2nd 11:

Doni
Kelly Skrtel Coates Olsson
Spearing Sissoko
Lucas Hendo Hoilett
De Jong

Olsson and Hoilett would join as Blackburn will probably go down and Hoilett is out of contract end of season so joint bid of £15m should do the deal.

Sissoko would also join and as the eds have said is available and comoli is a big fan.

Lucas is the one we need as he is a playmaker and has raw potential but i like the eds have my doubts bout him joining unless we can use of south American influence to convince him to join.

De Jong would come as the eds jave said and would a good addition.

Overall it would be very good buisness if we could pull those signings off as all are under 24 and fit the bill with the owners.

We don't need Olsson mate, Jack Robinson is just as good.
People only see Olsson as a good LB because he's got pace.

KT!

Fair point mate i forgot about young jack, but what do you think bout Hoilett and De Jong ?

BigD

Hoilett has been on fire this season and anybody can tell we need another wide player.
De Jong is a good player, not exceptionally fast but a clinical finisher, which is what we need right now. The only worrying thing will be if he could make the step up from the Dutch league to ours.

KT!

I think if we are interested in Hoilett than he will come as will De Jong what i have seen of him i think he would be able to cope with the physical side of the prem and like you mentioned is a clinical finisher so if he gets the chances is expect to put 1 out of 3 away, but still i think we are missing someone who can link midfield to attack, we need a Silva lol

I think Adam if he gets abit more forword can be that link.
Also we have players like Suarez, Bellamy & Maxi type of player.
De Jong won't be one of them players that does the spectacular but will put the ball in the net, think Van Nistleroy type.

KT!

Yea but thats what we missing, Nistleroy scored the ugly goals that won them the title.
Adam could do the job as could Henderson if played in his natural position, he is quality!

22 Nov 2011 13:23:10
Be interesting to see if Carra starts against City, as he'll surely be fully ready by the weekend?

I've got to say, with two clean sheets in a row, I'd be tempted to stick with Skrtel and Agger, as long as Skrts keeps playing the way he is.

It's odd that we don't seem to be missing Carra's leadership and organisation as much as I thought we would though.
Not dissing the guy, because he's a legend pure and simple, and totally loyal to the club, but even the greatest players have to eventually slow down, and I do wonder if the back four are working better at the moment than when he was playing?

I thought Johnson was a bit shaky at some moments but Chelsea can push forward well, and Skrtel and others covered well, and overall they're doing better than I thought they would without him, but then it could be just that they were all fired up more than usual maybe?

AC

Err...............two clean sheets in a row!!!?? Typical, do you lot even watch the games??

Ok unnamed poster, how about 'best defence in the league, so far'?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Coupled with your amazing goals for you will go far!!!

I'd like to see Spearing & Lucas in CM against City, help combat Silva.

KT!

Another clueless scouser, best defence??!! Check you goals against and you will see that Newcastle and City have the same record, so you are not the best! Whsilt you are at it look at the goals scored..............yep thats right your still s**t. {Ed001's Note - so if they have the same record, that would still make it the best defence, unless you can find someone with a better one that is? Before you go calling others names, you might want to check you aren't making yourself look stupid in future. Bit late this time though, sorry.}

Bit harsh ED. Didn't you look at the time? School's just finished haha

My (realistic) transfer targets in summer:

Junior Hoilett
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Gary Cahill
Moussa Sissoko

Hope not

apart from Junior the others are tash

Huntelaar's scored something like 20 goals already this season...and have you ever watched sissoko play? he's got potential. cahill i agree isn't the best but he's more of a back-up for agger

So what we beat chelsea. It has to be said a bad chelsea team who should have scored 4 against us. We are still twelve points of the top. Not good ennough.(rdred)

DID YOU SEE THE BENCH!!
that chelsea team is far from bad and yes if they took there chancers it might have been a diffrent game, but they didnt and thats football and why we love it.

IDHTDTSIO

Get a grip lad!!

top 4 is our aim this year and taken points of them puts us right on course

This is so ridiculous it has to be a wind-up.
I wouldn't bother replying any further.

Can spot a non-red a mile off..

Myk

They haven't scored 4. There have been several games this season, where we could have scored 4-5 goals easily and we came out with hardly 1, yet we lost or drew them. So, a win against chelsea is certainly a positive step. Hope, we can keep on the good run. YNWA

Top 4 will be city/utd, spurs and arsenal

we should bring in a proper winger because we dont have a player that can play there, someone like lennon

I'd love to see Junior Hoilett come in. He's impressed me every game this term

Red Ollie

Proper wingers can cross the ball.

Yes. They can cross the ball into the arms of the opposition goalie or plunk on the heads of opposition CBs to head out for clearance. What is with all this obsession with wingers who run up and down the sideline crossing balls? This kind of style is overrated and does not bring the expected success in modern day football.

A good player who needs to work on his end product. Apart from that, he has what we need. But the 12 milla price tag is a bit on the hefty side. 8 milla max.

It may interest everyone to know but with the corresponding fixtures from last year we are currently 8 points better off, and surprisingly we have the same amount of home points. The big difference is in our away form.

i used the three relegated teams in the order that they went down to the order that they came up i.e. Birmingham=QPR, Blackpool=Norwich,WHU=Swansea.

Now if we take on board Dalglish's theory that this squad will get better and better through the season, by the end we aren't going to be that far off.

Chelsea's fall from grace means they can no longer be classed as guaranteed nailed on for a CL spot.

The biggest word in the dictionary 'IF' comes into play. If Renny & Vorm in particular had not produced those world class saves finger tipped saves we would be sitting comfortably in 3rd.

Fine lines people, fine lines that's all it is.

Bob the Red

I think chelsea will get 3rd due to their experience and the rest will be battling for 4th (us, tot, ars)

Oddly enough Chelsea were running away with it this time last season- weren't they on 28 points and us on 16?

City could still stumble- I'm not betting on it, and I think their lead is getting a bit too big already for us to realistically catch them and win, unless they really fall on their arses big time- and soon.

The race for 3rd and 4th places is going to go all the way to the wire this season, with four clubs fighting for two spots.

I think chelsea will get 3rd due to their experience and the rest will be battling for 4th (us, tot, ars)
=====================================
What experience, new manager and 11 individuals put on the pitch together with hardly any understanding or communication as they've been controlled by an eleven years old and a ps3 controller (I loved that line).

And Bob , should we really be comparing with last year, we were at the bottom half of the table because we had a manager who is very used to be in that position, and thought avoiding relegation was his target. I do take your point about "If" and it could've been much sweeter in 3rd position.
Roy

When was the last time chelsea did not get in the champs league is what I meant, just like I knew arsenal would be fighting for 4th when they were struggling

In reply to Roy,

I've made the comparisions with the fixtures from last year and not the first 12 games of last year.

There are fixtures from last year that Hodgson was in control (Wolves, Everton, Blackpool etc) and some that dalglish was in charge of (Chelsea, Arsenal etc.)

If we continue with the improvements with the results from the Hodgson era then we can be safe knoing we're in the mix come the end.

There's that word 'IF' again!

Bob the Red

Don't think city have run away yet, remember newcastle and keegans infamous "I'd love it!" rant. They were 12 points clear I think at the time when he said that.

I think 2,3,4 are all 4 grabs united have looked bad 4 weeks.

Whether we get 3rd or 4th spot watever, depends on how we fare next month. i dont think abt next match vs city as a must win , a draw will do for me. but the important thing is that we are having some easy fixture next month and we have to get as many points as possible to put pressure on other competiting teams(arse*** and tottenham)..
we hence can create more chances of going to the champions league and pursue some good players to get a move on to anfield..
next month is a major one guys.. i hope we goo beat "not so good" teams and have some good goal difference.
BTW christmas time is also good for liverpool as well, so m keeping my finger crossed.

Got to be said, its amazing what a win against Chelsea can do. All the negativity before the game was enough to make me want to hang from the rafters. Now though, everyone actually sounds asif their getting behind the team. For a change the Liverpool forum is one of the more positive ones. Lets keep up the results, keep up the commitment and most importantly keep up the faith.

2 AVB will be told that torres is the main man and the team to built around him,or AVB will go befor torres.
3 kenny will not pay £30 +million on a player that walked away from him and Liverpool.

I thought one of the main differences on Sunday was that most of the lads looked really up for it.
They looked more serious, more aggressive, and they battled in nearly every tackle- sometimes three men coming in for the ball. Its a wonder there were no knocks to be honest.

In some games I've thought some players lacked a bit of fire, but for some reason it was there on Sunday, more so in the first half admittedly.

It was worrying to see how we switched off in the second half and let them outchallenge us for lots of balls, and they tried harder than us for most of the second half- went in harder, chased more balls, pressed quicker, etc.

We do need to find a way of keeping the intensity for the full 90 minutes, or at least for more of it than one half. But I'm sure KK and the lads will be working on that.

We've played well in most games but had some poor results to show from it, so its nice to see us getting a bit of luck for a change and coming away with a win, even when we don't dominate the full game.

Bring on City- should be a cracker!

AC

What does everyone think about Liverpool team and tactics against Many City? I think I'd play the same
team against Chelsea because I think bellamy would
be really up for it against City. Having said that Carroll
played well and scored twice against them last season
when we beat city easily. Right now I'd play Maxi ahead of Downing.

Ooo i dont know, Maxi was anonimous apart from his goal. But id probably go with you and use Downing the second half as a impact player. The things is with City, they have a very fit, fast and powerful defence in the form of Richards, Kompany, Clichy etc so id probably play Kuyt out right due to his work rate and his nack of getting important goals. I'd certainly play Bellamy and Suarez up top... Basically the team the played Chelsea haha!

Adzii

Our left side needs to be very strong though, to combat Micah Richards getting forward with, maybe, Adam Johnson too.
We could even plonk Jay Spearing on top of Silva, cos he's their one to watch ?
The Real KB

I would play the same team and tactics as we used against Chelsea - very narrow and compact and try and hit them on the counter-attack. More like the away team than the home team.

My only concern is that Suarez isn't really suited to the lone striker role.

JRG

Agree with you suarez needs help up front that was so obvious in the second half against chelsea,I believe we should have brought on carroll earlier or am I becoming his only fan (godin)

3 CB Carra, Skartel, Agger. 4 DM 2 from the 4 work winger and RB LB. Jhonson , Enrique Lucas, Adam. Maxi, Bellamy AM. Suarez alone striker free roll. this attcking 3 can keep busy 4City difender. Jhonson , enrique wing can be a key.

Godin your not his only fan ha ha. I rate the big fella highly and its pretty sad when people are writing posts over a 4 min sub appearance. Sad feck wits who have started to sound like they want him to fail so they can say I told you so. I'll support any player who wears the red of our great club. Jonson

I think we should have Lucas do a man-marking job on Silva, play 3 cms so we have enough creativity and play hard-working wingers to nullify their wing threat. I agree about Bellamy, I would leave Carroll on the bench so we can overload the midfield but he could be really useful as a substitute:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Henderson-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
Suarez

Subs: Doni, Carragher, Kelly, Spearing, Downing, Maxi, Carroll

Red Ollie

Moaners were out in force before the game at the weekend and they have then been pretty conspicious until now.

Why is that? Has it taken this long to dissect and decide where to aim your virtriol?

Carroll's the one getting it in the neck, he only played 3 minutes yet there are massive long threads with him being torn apart. We won, did Carrol cost us the game in those 3 minutes?

Sorry, fail to see why you have to find reasons to moan about something instead of enjoying a win.

Some of you should be put on suicide watch.

Suarez seems to nutmeg every defender he plays against this season. Luiz was done like a kipper on Sunday!

Side show bob is a kipper kelsey grammer can defend better. Red Kenny

22 Nov 2011 09:54:22
Kenny did what he should have done before at last against Chelsea. Keep the likes of Carragher, Carroll, Downing & Henderson on the bench & play the likes of Bellamy, Maxi & Kuyt. Their price tags must not be enough to cement them a starting position. IMo Kenny introduced the new players too soon into the team, he should have been slowly brought them to the team & allowed them to jell in.
Carra should be on the bench, SKRTS & Agger all day long.
Still don't know what to say about Andy Carroll, he looks like he is going backwards, like some kid who is learning the game, may be he is the rich mans David Ngog!

Against City I would prefer the same XI as against Chelsea, but would prefer to play Johnson & Kelly on the right side. When defending this would allow a defensive back line of 5 with Kelly changing to a temporary CB.
The race for top 4 is heating up, Spurs looks like they can even finish in top 3, just unstoppable with the fixtures they have ahead of them, we need to start hammering these smaller clubs in order to get there, Gooners are pretty much back on the track but don't know how will they cope without RVP. I would be happy if we could finish above Chelski even if we finish just out side the top 4. (but will be gutted not to be there, massive disappointment)

Armando

Good points there armando. I agree about Carra too. I know people wil say its blasphemous to say it but Carra should be doing now what Hyypia did before he left. He should be broken out for certain games and back up the rest of the time. He has been a fantastic servant but its Skrtel and Agger time now. We have looked a better defensive unit without Carra in last two games.

Good point about Carroll too. People slated David Ngog constantly saying he wasn't good enough, but yet support Carroll. Ngog scored more goals, worked harder and looked more of a goal threat than Carroll so why slate him and support Carroll? I really hope that Carroll proves me wrong, I really do. I just don't see it happening.

Rewflo

Head to head from 2008/2011 EPL only games.
NGOG played 71 scoreing 10
CARROLL PLY 51 SCR 18

We gave Ngog 3 seasons to prove his worth, lets at least give Carrol the same chance.

What the h#ck is your problem rewflo! Give the guy til the end of the season at least.

Wow slates posters for attempting to give rhyme and reason and comes out with this nugget.

Yes you are simple. An person can spout anything without backing it up. It's a cop out and it's damn lazy and tells me more about you than your one liners.

There aint a lot going for you with this one is there? Stick to the 140 characters on twitter, it's made for lazy people who just can't be arsed or should that be cba?

Bob the Red

Surely BJ the manager and coaches who work with Glenn day in day out have other ideas, and conclude he is a better fullback? I guess Kenny and Clarke are just talking b****** too...

Richards

Bob - Your assessment of my character is as accurate as your analysis.

I was just saying that Johnson has already disproved theories that he is unsuited to a right midfield role - as he played there for Portsmouth - where he was excellent in the role.

That this concept seems too much for you and your little mind (and others, you are likely not alone) is not my fault.

Richards - They may come around to the idea yet.

ps. Bob - You were spared my usual lengthy style of writing in my first post as this one was a no-brainer.

Also, you also seem to still be ignoring the fact that Johnson played on the right of midfield for Portsmouth and was excellent. This is relevant.

Maybe you're just all hyped up, thinking I'm a complainer like lots of people here. I support Kenny and all his signings, but I'd love to see Kelly at RB and Johnson have a shot at RM. Perfectly reasonable.

What you want strikers for?

Wilson and Coates aint proven.Carra near end.Samba-Be long term, quality signing

Against Man City we should play 3 CB with Carragher exp in front of Agger and Skirtle allowing both Johnson and Enrique to play as attacking wing backs. Giving more defence and attacking threat.

Didn't Kenny play this formation in the 3-1 victory over united last year?

James

Last year:

Reina

Flanagan - Skrtel - Carra - Aurelio

Kuyt - Lucas - Spearing - Meireles

Suarez - Carroll

Kenny knows what he's doing, hopefully we'll come out with a win.

Renegadered

Worked very well against Chelsea last year. Not sure I want to be so defensive against City because their defence still isn't the most cohesive, but they're certainly a very dangerous team.

If we'd be happy with a point we should play:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Carragher-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
Suarez

If we want to take the game to them:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Henderson-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
Suarez

Red Ollie

I think the big difference between chelsea/united and city is city are a little more mobile at the back and not as slow. They lack the intelligence of Vidic Ferdinand and Terry but are nowhere near as slow as them. Personally I would stick Carroll up front and play suarez and maxi off him to spread the defence a little.

Just posting my thoughts on the debate over whether or not Glen Johnson should be playing on the right-wing or as a right midfielder.

People are posting here saying he could never play in such a position.

These people usually cite various theories as proof why.

Some claim they 'play the game' and thus have developed an innate superior knowledge and tactical nous to other posters - it is this superior knowledge of the game which leads them to their obviously logical conclusions.

Such people may also cite theories as proof of their great tactical insights - such as, for example, by explaining how 'running from deep is the domain of the modern full-back' and other such b****cks.

These people continually spout such theories on this topic. The smug certainty that they are correct just leaps out at you, likely trying to escape from from their bogged-down-with-tactical-bulls**t-narrative.

I just want to say this to them........

Glen Johnson played as a winger/right sided midfielder for Portsmouth and was excellent.

Secondly.

Your theories are complete b****cks.

BJH YNWA (that was a lot simpler now, wasn't it)

Yea, when he was at pompey, but since then he has improved his all round game and is now an england intrernational, so if kenny n co put him there im sure he will do excellent job, but as it is he wont be moved up as it mite jepordise his postion in the national team. FACT

I am ashamed of my post after the Swansea game..
In general we have to be delighted. Enrique, Adam, Henderson - quality signings. Bellamy - inspired.
Come on reds

Gazman

**********************

Really? I'm kind of sceptical here. Are you one of those fickle fans that slag players off when they don't perform well and love them like crazy when they do? I find it amazing that one match is all it took for you to change your mind about those players.

Keith YNWA

It will be interesting to see how we play against City. For me, our midfield still isn't mobile enough when we come up against a quick, mobile midfield, ie Spurs, and City have probably the most mobile in the league. It was a good result though on Sunday, no doubt about it, but can we do it at 3 pm, at Anfield, when we are expected to win. We shall see. One thing is for dure, we are better without Carroll and Downing in the side.

Ash

I think we'll do fine against city. Its the lesser teams that I dread playing. City are an open unit and if you have enough decent passers in your team should be able to open them up. Lesser teams play very compact and we struggle to create.

Rewflo

'Ash'

You are becoming a parody of yourself.

Why can't you enjoy the win and praise all the players who contributed rather than picking on individuals, the management and our transfers? Don't forget that Downing was on the pitch when we scored the winner and he also set-up Kuyt for a good opportunity.

JRG

I think Ash is actually a geordie

I think Ash is right, it will be interesting to see how the midfield goes. In fact, it will be interesting to see how both teams set up their formations. Do they go open and risk an end-to-end encounter, or pack the midfield and play it cagey ?
It's a bit like the old Wild West gunfighters in a stare-off. Who will blink first ?
Will Mancini revert to type, and go De Jong / Yaya Toure / Gareth Barry ?
Will Kenny stick to the 4-4-2 and same team that did so well at Chelsea ?
It will be very interesting.
The Real KB

Cheers KB. JRG, I did enjoy the win on Sunday. I like nothing better than seeing Chelsea lose (mainly because I live down there now and cannot stand the new breed of Chelsea fans) but we do seem to beat Chelsea quite ofter these days and for too long it has been the smaller teams that have posed us the biggest problems. Man City have a world class midfield and there team is a lot sharper and quicker than Chelsea's aging one, so it will be a different type of game entirely and interesting to see how we cope against their midfield.

Ash

ed001/002 , looking at the tevez post earlier got me thinking maybe city would loan us tevez until the end of the season , before they sell him in the summer , this might suit city , as they might see us as not threating their prem title bid , and it would weaken utd etc who they might feel are more of a threat to them , if it helps us while giving tevez playing time i think it would be a good move short term.............lfc {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I don't see how having a troublemaker that doesn't want to play for us would help?}

Well even tevez will know ed001 , he has to keep his match sharpness for his international place , and short-term if hes used to help us get in the top 4 , i think it would work out okay , agree hes not a player to stick around too long , but would it not really help us , thats all that matters to me...........lfc {Ed001's Note - I just don't see what use he would be when he would be in the same places as Suarez.}

Tevez is a worker on the pitch and will hunt down play just like bellamy did, you telling me they didnt wrk well together?

I said, GO to bed Carlos!

Sorry Ed, I don't think he'd be trouble between now and the summer for us. He's got something to prove, he'd be playing for another contract with another team - would never buy him though...

I agree that wer shouldnt sign Tevez on the basis he is far too disruptive and demanding. To say he has no place in a team with suarez is sily though. People said the same of aguero and aguero and tevez manage to play together.
