Hi!

I posted yesterday about Gylfi Sigurdsson, I told you that there would be big news of him today. I'm sorry but it wasn't really made official today. I am 95% sure that he went through a medical today. I am not sure for what team though. It will probably be made official soon. How I know of it: The most famous sports journalist of Iceland is a good friend of Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson and he tweeted yesterday that today he would go through a medical for some team, he didn't tell us what team. But why wouldn't he go to Liverpool? He was on his way to Swansea only because of BR. He would even go to Accrington if BR was their manager. Tottenham don't need him and they don't even have a boss at the moment. He won't go to Man Utd. I have that from reliable sources.

Reddie

Hope your right mate
derryred

It'd be either Liverpool or Swansea mate, United and Spurs are genuinely NOT interested, it's a complete media fabrication, as usual.

Red7.

Every German team also use the same system, they build the style from an early age, this is solely done to have a consistently solid national team where we just scrape together whoever has the qualifications and hand them a team.
Pretty much a no brainer in terms of basic behaviour.

I dont think so......

They played 4-4-2 till Euro 2008 where they changed their formation to 4-2-3-1 in the middle of the tournament.....

I doubt they are taught formations at an early age..All their players are really comfortable with the ball..Thats he difference..Plus I really rate their coach..He really knows how to manage an international team.....

what has happened with Borini? Are we still trying to sign him?
Im not those fans that always moan but try be optimistic and think sigurdsson and borini cud b very good. BUT seriously we should be a bit more ambitous with signings. Hopefully every thing is actually unknown and behind closed doors and end up with suprise signings.

Sig deal is going well,dont listen to reports of otherwise he will sign.reports of skrtel leaving are mainly to get him the best possible contract from lfc,very much doubt he will leave.expect activity to increase in the next week or 2 and still believe soldado will atleast be enquired about. Wish we could have bought marco reus in january. Gud finisher. Maybe could have saved Kenny his job. Gr8 signing for BVB though. YNWA

22 Jun 2012 21:04:40
From Football Italia

"According to the latest reports, Roma placed a 4.9m bid for the remaining 50 per cent of Borini's contract, beating Parma's supposed 4.26m offer.

If this is the case, then the Giallorossi would own the striker outright.

Parma had been hoping to buy back Borini so they could then sell him on to Liverpool."

I guess Roma would be more inclined to keep Borini based on his form last season. We may still go for him, but I would guess it would cost a lot more to persuade Roma to sell

My predictions of the four signings that Lfc are going to make are the four I've just read about in the papers this morning.

Okay now i'm sure we'll all be fascinated by the four you think will sign ?

22 Jun 2012 20:51:11
Blair ,A person who I hold alot of respect for from effective media gave me info on skrtls ongoings. It takes two to tango put it that way' . Agree with you mate and mentioned it before that coastes will be top class and Kelly and wisdom are going to be diamonds of defenders'. I love hummels and wouldnt mind the boy but as edd pointed out hes a non starter'. Rondon is going to be special,the lad has all the attributes necessary to makee it. Fingers crossed boys'

Melbourne'

If he's after ridiclous money Melbourne mate then get rid. I'll pick you up and we can both drive him to the Etihad. We'll drop him off and pick Richards up and drop him off at Melwood.

Problem solved mate. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Hummles a non-starter ? are you joking me he has been unreal for dortmund for the last 2 seasons. i also doubt wisdom will make it at liverpool when we already have kelly and coates who are better.i also think that regan will be better than him too.

What's Skrtel on, and what's he looking for ?
And what's Richards on ?
The Real KB

Unnamed poster

I think that Melbourne meant 'non-starter' because he wouldn't be available. Not an non-starter for us mate.

KB

I think the problem could be, what Skrtel wants KB mate. Skrtel (27) goes to City gets 100-120k a week probably. We get Richards (22-23) on probably 70-80k a week. Another factor that would make Richards a very good signing, he can play RB. And if Glen leaves then we could have an able replacement in Richards.

The more I think about it KB mate. The more I would like to see this happen. If Martin wants to go.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Surely Richards is on that now though Blair ?
I would think he'd have to take a pay drop to come to Liverpool mate ?
The Real KB

If we could wrangle Richards an Johnson out of them for Skytel I would b in dreamland (I know... keep dreaming). Two of the finest talents in English football. Although not sure about eithers attitude or professionalism. CQ

Any chance of Philip Lahm ed? Looks a top full back and just scored a cracking goal in the Germany game! Reckon we could probably get him aswell. *sarcasm*

Can't wait to see Lahm in the red of Liverpool. Great signing!

22 Jun 2012 20:28:01
I know this is a pretty silly way of judging players, but we need to start signing players who are 80+ overall on Fifa. At the moment we're looking at players in the early 70's, I WANT LFC to be a 5* team again, we're only 4 1/2 on fifa 12 :( Lets push that up eh? ;) {Ed022's Note - Post of the day.}

Isn't Heskey 80+ on FIFA? {Ed022's Note - On Fifa 98 he was.}

Even at 4 1/2 stars i continue to beat real madrid n barcelona, against my friends though. haha. Carroll is incredible in fifa 12. not so good first touch though.

Kaizer

You may mock ed but he may have a valid point. Well said mate

Ah well it means when i play online i am playing worse teams so it works for something.
derryred

A valid point? Really?

Well Luuk de jong and gaston ramirez both grow to 86 and 87 in career mode in fifa12

What? I can only get Luuk up to 84 and Gaston Ramirez up to 83! How'd you manage that? Well in mine Gaston is only 23 but still, you must tell me!

Gotze was about 70 on FIFA11 and look at him on FIFA12

Does anyone else feel this T.V documentary about Liverpool that is supposedly about the F.A cup final ( which we lost ) is a really bad idea?

Gh*Lfc

Honestly I'm quite excited about it. As an American, I never get to see the LFC players/staff except for within the actual games (they don't air post match interviews and such over here really).

Most of them I don't even know what they sound like (outside of whatever small clips I happen to come across on the internet) so for me at least I think it'll be pretty cool (or at least I hope so).

RDL

Personally I dont care we reached the final beating the best and on the day we marginally lost too the best so have at it.We were beaten all over the pitch when every Lfc fan knows we werent playing at full potential then nearly came back like we are famous for.
I cant see how it will be damaging in the slightest personally.

Kopping a feel

The documentary isn't about the final mate its about Liverpool and how the club have gone about things over a 6 month or so period. Nothing to do with the FA Cup.

Martin

Its not the fact that we lost it is just weren't we always the club who kept things subtle and under wraps? Seems times are changing then...

Gh*Lfc

The main reason I think we did it mate, is for good PR. This documentary was agreed just after our bad PR concerning Luis had cooled. Coincidence? I don't think so. The makers of the documentary is Fox Sports sister of our beloved SlySports.

Has anyone noticed like I have, that SlySports have seemed to have not been as vicious towards us, like they have in the past. They (SlySports) have not even reported that an LFC fan was found guilty today of racially abusing Evra and United fans.

If we hadn't have made the documentary with Fox Sports/SlySports. They would have been shouting about this incident all day.

Some would say 'We have sold our soul to the Devil'

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

They did report the incident to-day as i seen it about 4 to-day

Follow on question- is this set to even air in England? I know Fox Soccer has been promoting it constantly over here in the US, but wasn't real clear if it was also going to air on Sky?

RDL {Ed002's Note - At least one of the previous two they have made has aired in England.}

Apologies unnamed poster I didn't see it mate. Its usually one of their top stories and repeated throughout the night. The mole in the England camp is getting better coverage.

Mole in the England camp? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Roy supposed to be there. He is the manager after all.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Why be subject to demands bt skittles? Him asking the club to match his ambitions is garrbage. He knows lfc want to be competing and striving to compete in the PL and CL'. Its another way of saying he wants more in his backpocket and begging his praise and importance in the team. We are lfc and we decide the terms because skittles wears the lfc shirt and gets paid for playing for our great club. As said before I will be happy if he stays and I would like to think on our terms. He had one good season an for twenty plus million,I am with blair',I would also drive skrtl to the ethiad. Coates will be top class an Kelly and wisdom are quailty'

Melbourne'

His agent seems to be doing most of the talking, Melbourne mate. With us trying to cut our wage bill and age of the squad. We can't and will not match City's wages, if they are interested. But if he himself wants to go then he can go. We don't want players who would rather play for the money and not the shirt.

Me personally would not be that upset if he did go to City for 20 mill. Or a cash plus player swap or even a straight swap (Micah Richards). Martin is 27 and probably looking for CL football and a last big contract, near the end of his career.

If he wants to go and we get 20 mill for him. Then I won't bear any grudges against him and would wish well, in the future. Then go buy a CB under 22 for a fee of around 12-15 mill to replace him. We've got Coates but it's Aggers injury problems that would have to be taken into consideration. So replace Skrtel (If he wants to go) we'll have Coates, Agger, Carragher (if needed), Kelly and the new CB who would replace Skrtel.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

You must be an excellant negotiator if you managed to sell a packet of skittles for 20m.

Lil red

Not to mention Kelly's injury problems too Blair. If Skrtel goes, either a CB can come from our youth, or we should buy 1. hearing good stuffs about Sama and Wisdom, but ive never seen them at all.

Kaizer

It's Man City Lil red mate. If they paid 18 mill for Kolarov, they'd pay 20 mill for a packet of skittles, no probs.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Is that Kolorov nice vodka? :)

Does anyone have a simple explanation of how the financial fair play rules work and when it comes into full effect? Any view on the impact on LFC would be a bonus. Ta in advance, Chris {Ed002's Note - Remind me in a few days and I will explain.}

I think you cant have more than a financial loss of £30m over any 2 year period.

Will do, ta, chris

You can't spend more than you earn. Is that close Ed002?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I will explain early next week but it becomes complicated because certain expenditure is excluded - infrastructurespend etc..}

Looking forward to it... (also can you explain how thay are planing to enforce it ...)

Tom Red

Ed,

Here is a copy and paste from the Swiss ramble, a blog supported by Ed001. Don't know if you'll allow it but here is the bit regarding FFP. Delete this post plz if I'm over the line on content here. Cheers.

Chi-Paul

UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations

Another motive for the club to increase revenue is the advent of UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules that aim to make clubs live within their means, rather than operate with big losses bank-rolled by wealthy benefactors.

The first monitoring period is 2013/14, but this will take into account losses made in the two preceding years, namely 2011/12 and 2012/13. In other words, the 2010/11 accounts are not considered, but those from the current season will be, so a rapid improvement is required.

However, they don't need to be absolutely perfect, as owners will be allowed to absorb aggregate losses of 45 million (around £38 million), initially over two years and then over three years, as long as they cover the deficit by making equity contributions.

Not only is Henry supportive of these regulations, but he said we wouldn't have moved forward on Liverpool except for the passage of FFP.ť However, he is concerned that others will find ways around the rules, The question remains as to how serious UEFA is regarding this. It appears that there are a couple of large English clubs that are sending a strong message that they aren't taking them seriously.ť He specifically queried the transparency of Manchester City's massive Etihad deal, given the owners' close relationship with the sponsors. Werner supported the party line, hoping that UEFA's process would have some teeth.ť

One point to note is that the cost of a new stadium would be excluded from UEFA's break-even calculation, so that should not be a factor in any investment decision.

Could one of the eds if at all possible explain to me the ownership issues with Borini? Is he part owned by Roma and Parma or is he a Parma player now Roma didn't take up the permanent deal or am I totally lost! I would appreciate any clarification, cheers. Really good player I think. It doesn't look like Rodgers wants De Jong.
The Gooch. {Ed002's Note - He is part owned but both parties are looking to agree ownership by one or the other by June 30.}

two proven premiership english forwards who we should be looking at but seems no real interest which i cant understand are bent and defoe, either would defo get goals for us

Don't suggest that on here mate you'll get slaughtered

Defo and Defoe

What happened last time we bough ' English proven' . No matter how good a player is currently he could turn out completely different at another club

Yeah I see where you're going. But no. It's a shame I always felt Defoe was gonna turn out to be better than Ian wright but it hasn't worked out for him. Just keep them both away. CQ

Coates will look lil a beast in the new home kit.

Lil red

A little 6'5 beast lol

Pity he's not that good

In five appearences for LFC he nearly gave away 5 goals

Would rather have Wilson than Coates

Wilson has been playing Sterling for Scotland

Clueless last post

And Coates has been playing for Uruguay. Currently 2nd FIFA ranking. Where are scotland again? {Ed029's Note - 41st

Hansen was a liability(for those old enough to remember) in his first few games and look how he turned out. I'm more than willing to give the lad a chance. I think he will be quality given time.

excuse me ed's if use dont mind answering for me , what is all this talk of sigurdsson move to liverpool stalling ? i personally dont read much into it but i wanted to ask use just in case if use knew that his move could indeed be stalling.
thanks {Ed019's Note - Lies}

Just sounds like two clubs negotiating to me. One club wants X amount, the other club doesn't want to pay that amount. Just a good old negotiation IMO. Just be thankful only Swansea, QPR & Reading want him and not one of the bigger clubs.

Disney!

Your 'spot the obvious' posts might have them drooling on the Manc page, Disney mate. But don't try and sell your BS on the LFC page mate, we ain't buying it. We are not fickle' Mancs, we are the people.

Why are we being linked with mediocre players and rejects ? Its not good enough, We need major improvements on our squad, Another 8th place finish will not be acceptable.

City, United, Aresnal, Chelsea, Spurs and Newcastle will all make major improvements to their squads.

The players we are looking at will not improve our squads and they wouldnt even get a starting place at City, United, Chelsea etc.

Borini, De Jong, Caulker, Sigurdsson etc are not good enough.

If we dont properly improve on our transfer targets then we could very easily finish 10th or below next season.

Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Reina and Suarez could be leaving.

Carragher and Gerrard are a year older. Carragher cost us about 15 points last season, He should Retire. Gerrard on started 18 games last season because of injury. He wont be around much next season.

Lucas might not come back to full fitness

SORT IT OUT BRENDAN, THIS IS LIVERPOOL, NOT SOME MICKEY MOUSE OUTFIT LIKE WATFORD, READING OR SWANSEA.

Craig YNWA

Dont worry, we have cole and aquilani returning to save us, disaster

Why are they "mickey mouse" clubs.
Your lack of respect is why we get a bad name as a clubs supporters!!

Grow up "Goofy"

Some people are clueless. do you really think if brendan had the ability, and green light, to go for the players that you mentioned that he would not? you are crazy. he is going to do the best he can to make the team a success with what he is given. Do you really think he would not try to get the best players in he can with the transfer money he is given. I don't understand what is going on with some of the supporters nowadays. what happened to being proud to support your club? and what happened for cheering for everyone that pulls on that red shirt and gives his all during a game? ..all that aside, i cant wait for the boys to get going again this year so i can cheer them on through the good and the bad.

maythe-Red-bewithyou

A small manager can only attract small players, But you know things are bad when a player like Diame turns down Liverpool for West Ham. Greg

Ahoy - and welcome to the site Craig.

I fully refuse to even acknowledge that you sign your post YNWA as it is blatantly apparent that you have no idea what it means or the history behind the club and some of the fantastic footballers who have worn Red.

If you feel we must sign world renowned marquee top dollar "stars" please research the following names and see where we have signed them from.

Hansen, Souness, Lawrenson, Hyypia, Keegan, Heighway, Hughes, Molby, Clemence, Redknapp (it pains me - use the search tool) Murphy - to name a few.

When you have finished your homework I am certain you will have trebled your knowledge of our club and understand how we can move forward - by supporting.

Good luck Craig

BOILED ONIONS

Sigh. Not even sure what else to say. And where do we get the funding to buy these 'improved' transfer targets, Craig? Do the supporters want to pay double for tickets? Or should the owners just be willing to throw more money on top of the losses already being incurred in the hope that a 'proven' £35M player will absolutely drive us into the top 4 because surely a smart, young £15M player won't? Buying big and hoping for the best is a fine strategy if you're Man City, but it's not going to work for us.

RDL

Spot on Craig, Im glad someone else has finally spoke some sense. We are being linked with players who arnt good enough

LIVERPOOL NEED CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL

Arsenal signed Podolski, Giroud and will get M'Vila. Chelsea signed Hazard, Marin and will get Hulk and maybe more. United got Kagawa and Powell and will probably get Modric, Lewandowski and Willems.

The players being linked with us not improve us at all. LSC. {Ed005's Note - Arsenal didn't get M'Vila. And Podolski and Giroud have a lot to prove at Arsenal - one failed at a big club another has had one good season in a poor league. Think those signings are being over-hyped at the moment personally.}

Reading, Watford and Swansea are not Mickey mouse outfits, but you mate are an idiot...End of

ReDDaZ

Sorry I must have missed the exclusive on Diame turning us down, must have been reported in the Scum.

How many of them players have you seen over a full season? i bet none... just because they have not come from Real Madrid or cost £50 million doesn't mean they are not good players...

Remind me where Agger, Skrtle, Lucas, Suarez, Hyypia, Alonso E.T.C came from?

There's a reason why Brendan Rodgers is Liverpool manager and you are not..

G BOX

Hate the ignorance of some fans. This guy really doesn't understand how football works, grow up craig and go support city or chelsea. LFC doesn't need you.
Zeus Katz

Sorry Craig but I don't have the words to describe how foolish that post seemed to me. 10th or below ??? Just cos were not getting the so called superstar signing your craving seems a ridiculous statement.

Mike

What a ridiculous comment to make by OP. Liverpool has always been a club that has been about the team playing well. Not individuals. You are all forgeting that the players we had last year beat many of the big teams however they couldn't beat the smaller teams. It had potential but it was only a few better players away from being able to compete. If we didnt have suarez banned for 8 games and gerrard injured so many times we may have been abit nearer. People need to stop playing Fifa 2012 and find the joy again from finding young good players and developing them into class players. Who was messi, iniesta, xavi before barcelona?

Hmmmmmmmmmm maybe Diame wanted guaranteed first team football, which west ham can offer. He would of only been a squad player behind Lucas, who would you rather start every game Lucas or Diame. That's why west ham is perfect for him, and plus he understands a relegation scrap. Si

''Si''

Diame over Lucas every time for me. Greg

What a numpty! and can you provide assurances that these so called improved transfers will be a major success for us because that always happens doesn't it, shevchenko (chelsea) torres (chelsea) santa cruz (man city) adebayor (city) veron (man utd/chelsea) duff (chelsea) bosingwa (chelsea) i could go on and on with big money flops
or alternatively how about lucas, henry, pires, viera, parker, van persie, bale, modric how much did these guys cost?

try looking at borussia dortmund, had you even heard of lewandoski, kagawa, barrios, hummels, piscek, blascekoyski, goetze etc 2 years ago? now they have beaten the "superstars of bayern" to the league 2 years in a row and everyone wants their players and don't forget most people on here were screaming for their manager to take over from KD after what he did with these lesser known players. So i for 1 am happy to trust brendan rodgers to bring in the players that he believes he can turn us into a title challenging team again. Not saying every transfer he makes will be a huge success but equally not every 30 million pound player will be either so get a grip and get behind what the club are trying to do and stop throwing your toys out of the pram

Mate liverpool can't aford quality players so trying to buy players with pontential and will take few years to get back in top4 and unless your so-called owners sale to people who can aford your ecpectation or eles enjoy watching us dominate the league

Blue moon

The very fact Greg that u think diame is better than lucas makes u an idiot. Im pretty sure ur putting forth ur judgement based on how well the two wud play rugby rather than football.

Hey ED,s and fellow Reds,this is not a banter but a bit of an observation.Yesterday there was a post stating that carroll will be sold,then one of the replies stated that carroll will not be sold because he is contracted to liverpool for life ,due to his price tag.what the person is trying to insinuate is that liverpool will not sell caroll,unless they can recoup a certain amount of money they spent on him like say in the region of 30m,and im totally in support of this because we cannot continue to trade at a loss anytime we sell a player less than we bought them.A case of example is the robbie keane resale to totteham in which we made a massive loss.I am not trying to imply that we should sell caroll,but if an offer comes that is close to what we paid for him,then i think we should consider it. {Ed019's Note - He is not contracted for life}

What about Torres, huh?

We made something like 25m on Torres so (excluding salary) the balance sheet would show a profit on these deals if we got over 10m on Carroll. Not that I think we should sell him.

GoNAdz

What do you mean what about torres ? we sold chelsea half the player we bought for a massive profit. chelsea can also operate at a massive loss because they have a super-wealthy owner.

Anyone who is describing Carroll and Henderson as mistakes needs to open their eyes. Andy is 23 and Jordan is 22, both in the Euro squad, both spilling over with potential. I've been saying for months that the team doesn't need many new signings but would be happy to see another cdm to cover lucas. I dont have a clue who we'll sign but would like if we got Jordy Clasie,Sigurdsson, and maybe Borini or Sturridge, though Sturridge would probably cause many headaches. However it plays out, I love our team and of course all our wonderful fans :) walk on reds

Yep i agree with you i am a fan of both of the players... I think Henderson will be fanstastic, and Carroll he looks like he can do what he wants when he's in the mood!
big futures at LFC hopefully!

Not only that but england looks a better team and much more threatening when he is on the pitch. i also think hendo will come good.

For their price tags they were certainly mistakes. But it doesn't mean they won't become great players

Fully expect Sigurdsson to choose LFC over the likes of Reading and West Ham. Borini would cost £8mil and heard Liverpool making are making inquiries from James Rodriguez of Porto would cost around £23mil
Don't shoot the messenger but what do you think?

John Fogarty from the Irish Examiner is saying on Twitter that he has heard from a 'decent' source that we have enquired about James Rodriguez from Porto for £23m. I know it's Twitter and don't know anything about the journo but just passing in the info.

James mcclean has an excellent delivery. you're looking too much at stats but i have watched him closely this year for sunderland. he is energetic and cover his fullback well. he is very agressive and has a bit of a temper. he does have a good delivery also. however he is too left footed and is still quite raw and not ready for liverpool. in fact i doubt he'll be anywhere near as good as what we will have to pay for him. he does have the work ethic and pace of a rodgers winger but not the quality.

Just wanna say how annoying it is one moment seeIng liverpool fans calling out for the sacking of dalglish then as soon as hes gone and were linked with borini and krasic theyre basically saying he shouldnt have gone, cor make your mid up anddont spit your dummy out, you got what you wanted

Yes, of course.
Of the 40000 or so that attend home games, and the numerous millions that support Liverpool across the globe, every single one of them has exactly the same opinion all of the time.
And everyone has changed their mind about Kenny.
And therefore every single one of them is a hypocrite.
It amazes me how often this kind of thing crops up- 'you LFC fans are so fickle, one minute you want this, and the next you want that......blah blah blah'.
Does it not occur to clever chaps like yourself that people have different opinions? And that the more people are involved, the more, differing opinions there will be? And also that peoples opinions change?
Here's a suggestion, stop being annoyed, and stop being annoying.

Just an observation. BR seemed to suggest he knows 3 players who would stengthen our squad and enable us to play his style of football. From this, it seems likley that these are players he has worked with before. Borini & Sigurdsson fit the bill for 2. As the rest of the Swansea squad is off limits, any idea who the 3rd might be? Just guesswork!

so arsenal are sorting themselves out, podolski etc, chelsea have got, marin, hazard and are after hulk, newcastle it seem's are after and could well get de jong and another french player, spurs i have now been told may well sell modric? good news, yes? well according to an employee of the club, regardless of manager, they have lined up moutinho & vertonghen! as well as being in talks to sign muniain a keeper believed to be either the borr gladbach keeper or Lloris? as well as two forwards one according to the guy who informed me will look like 'the great train robbery', far fetched? thats what i thought, the guy said that levy had been planning a overhaul for a year or so, he went on to say that spurs have NOT spent much in three years and have a lot of money to spend and some has already started, my point like others that have posted is that teams are being linked to or are buying top players........were not, they guy started taking the p**s (in a nice way) saying we could have bassong, jenas & bentley

Why the hell do i see these posts everyday? concentrate on your own club please...

Hi fellows.

Just some questions

1.Can we sign Howedes?

2.If Skrtel leave who would you want to replace him?

3.I think it is better to leave Reina since he is not going to be any younger.So I would have sign someone who is younger one who has the potential to replace Reina.Who would you guys want to see next season as our goalie...

4.Do you think we can get to top 4 position next season?

Couldn't question 1 be the answer for question 2

Reina's 30 he's got a good 10 years left

Ten more years of watching Reina being beaten at the near post or the ball going thru his legs I don't know how much longer I can witness it?

Dublin Red {Ed022's Note - I suspect Coates would be brought through as a CB, although Kelly is another option.}

If skrtel does leave i say we give coates until january to prove himself as the starting cb. then if he still shows that he isn't ready then we dip into the budget and get a quality cb. but you must know that top center back partnerships aren't often built overnight so i would avoid tampering with ours.

I am one of those supporters who would have preferred kenny to be given another season. Having said that, I was also fairly pleased with BR's appointment. I hope that he's given more time to start getting consistent results, both by FSG and the fans. I have taken the leap of faith with BR, and whatever signings he gets. It seems that we will be getting players in the 'promising' bracket as opposed to the 'finished article'. This, coupled with a new manager, means it probably won't be a while until the team are settled. I'm not sure if alot of fans will be prepared to wait that long, or of they will be sharpening their knives by Christmas, only time will tell. I personally think we will do alright, but it is a big ask.

The moaners will be all over it like a rash, but I for one have faith that we will be getting ourselves back to the top where we belong, it might just take a bit of time.

Nick

Nick i am in the exact same bracket as you. personally i don't care as long as we play attractive football like we did under kenny. under rodgers we will be entertained. no doubt's about that.

Hello, sorry for the copy and paste, this has just been put on Gazzetta dello Sport about Borini:

"Borini? Ask at Rome." Words of Peter Leonardi, CEO of Parma. Despite the excellent relations between the two companies, it seems increasingly difficult to reach an agreement between the Crusaders and Roma. The player would like to avoid starting the new season still in joint ownership. For this reason (and for the involvement of Psg and especially Liverpool) early complications have arisen in the negotiations. Now the envelopes seem the most likely solution.

Don't know if Roma/Parma's difficulty to reach an agreement on Borini's ownership matters much to our chances of getting him, but thought it might be of interest.

Will people please think about the prices they put on players and realistic targets please...

Muniain 20m are you joking more like 35m
Javi Martinez 25m are you joking more like 35m
Joao Moutinho 15m lol more like 30m

I see constant posts about Lavezzi, Muniain, Martinez, De Rossi, Herrera, Jovetic and lots more that wouldnt join a top 4 club unless it was silly wages or a silly fee no matter a club finishing 40 points off the top... think people get too red tinited about our chances at the end of the day our success was in the past and will not be coming back for a few years in all honesty at least we can try and get champions league at a struggle as chelsea man united man city arsenal tottenham newcastle all have better teams imo

So now all the rumours about Aly cissokho have died down (thank god, he's a shocker.) and been replaced by whisperings of Urby Emmanuelson. Eds, is this just people reading too much twitter? or is there a genuine interest in a left-sided player who can defend as well as attack? I though Enrique was a world class defender when he was allowed to actually defend and not made to bomb up and down the wing in support of Downing. It's just my opinion but i think maybe we don't necessarily need another leftback.

Top Poster:
who are you to say our guys cannot play a certain type of way?
Barca have been playing that way for years,and it goes all the way through them down to under9`s team.You do something nearly every day for 10-11 years and add maturity and confidence, and you get players like Iniesta,Xavi,Messi etc.
Our guys are not to blame for the style of football they have been brought up on, BR will change this, some may not fit in, others will surprise you.BR has said he doesnt want to be Barca, we wants the Liverpool way.
PL is techincally still years behind at grass roots, and i can go on and blame so many, but i aint interested. Rafa set the ball rolling with acadamy set-up, FSG are dragging the club into 21st century behing the scenes, BR will do his bit to contribute to a new LFC.

who knows, in 5-6 years time we COULD be the Barca of football, with everyone trying to emulate us.
Piddy.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Not too sure if i'm reading between the lines or not here mate, but you really raise a fantastic point.

Perhaps the success of these amazing Barca players is the system they were developed in. It can't be a coincidence that they have so many absolutely world class players can it.
Nobody ever thinks of this, maybe it's not these players that make this style look so easy(talent obviously helps), but perhaps it's the system Barca have developed over the years making these players as amazing as they are today.
If this is the case, we may really be able to build something here, a system to develop super-players, not disgustingly expensive players who mimic a certain style.

Red7.

It is the system and philosophy that they were playing since they were young. any player if playing a certain role for 15+ years will know how to perfect it. we are instilling a philosophy into our team for every agegroup which will make the step up to the first team easier. trust me it will bear fruits in years to come.

Borini to Liverpool seems to be gathering apace. Looks like a young Paolo Rossi and though he is inexperienced still he looks like the kind of striker who looks for the intelligient pass all the time. Would be a good addition. Would add that for the first time in years we have a coach who will get players to play football as opposed to playing tactics. Hope in 12 months Downing, Aquilani ( doubtful he'll be here ) , Henderson can be taught how to get the most out of their abilities.
If not Borini any news on any other strikers or do you reckon developments will be slow until the window officially opens and the Euro's are over.

And I would just like to say to all those that give Ed002 hasssle when she mentioned south american players we were looking at and they weren't house hold names ( now it wont be discussed ).
Suarez came to europe for £800K
Rameriz came for £2.5 m

I would love sigardson Munian and tello. In my opinion that is enough as we will only play with one striker and Munian or tello could be back up to carrol or Suarez as they could do a job up there. I also believe Munian could play the messi role in years to come. What do you think ed? Would cost about 35 million but if we sold kuyt maxi aqua cole spearing we will radically reduce the wage bill which is more important as those transfer fees will multiply by two of we were ever to sell in the future.

Hi,

I have a close source who is connected with liverpool (former striker) and he has told me that he has heard sources within the club claim that we are trying to put a bid together to sign Sunderland outcast Asamoah Gyan, he would be relatively cheap to buy but wages could be a huge stumbling block imo. Hye Eds,
LFC rumors is quite quiet today.

1) Are we interested in Bryan Ruiz from Fulham? I think now he's in recovery process from injury.He can play wide right and striker and quite skillfull.

2)Salomon Rondon looks like a good option if Soldado bid fails.Besides he's more cheaper. Is BR interested in him? I can see Chelsea will go for more expensive player and we have higher chance of signing him.

3)Are we still looking for cover of leftback position? Or player that can challenge Enrique's place? Any name comes in mind?

4)Milos krasic, is it a done deal? or we just begin initial talk with player agent?

Hope to get answers on this and have a great weekend ahead.

A question for the ED's please.

I've been doing a fair bit of research about potential signings this summer, looking at young players with showing potential.

I just have to say that I don't think you have to look much further than Luciano Narsingh for the Right wing/forward position that BR obviously needs to add. I think the kid has so much potential to be top class it's unreal. Een if we were to buy two right sided players in this kind of price bracket we wouldn't exactly be breaking the bank, and would provide us will ample cover considering Europa League this season.

If Nathan Dyer did well playing in a BR team, then I'm certain Narsingh would be successful. Do you know if we have shown any sort of interest in him at all? If we went for him, another right sided player, a forward (hopefully Rondon) and then Gylfi, I would certainly wet my pants. I'm feeling really optimistic about the new season and a new type of football. The only thing I'm not excited about is hearing a pin drop in Anfield - last season was embarrassing from the supporters.

Thanks for your time ED's

Cheers

It smacks of sabotage,every time Lfc appear to be moving to resolving Stadia issue,somebody representing 'the dark side'(Anderson or Moyes)pipe up about groundsharing.As Moyes said they need us,more than us them.How many times do we have to say no?!

Some people questioning why some fans are being negative about some of these lesser known players that have been linked. I keep hearing all this we need to get the next "gem" before they become too expensive.
Well i have 2 points:-
1. It's very rare these days that most of these next gems aren't or haven't already been scouted by many many teams.
2. Also some of these lesser known players more often than not turn out to be flops-
Voronin, Meier, biscan, diao, diouf, cheyrou, kvarme, josemi, kronkamp, etc.

We as Liverpool fans have seen far too many of these risky players brought in for about 5-12million.
Now I personally would rather 1 really quality player (a la Suarez) than 3-4 average players!
I know what's coming- what about expensive mistakes downing, Carroll? Or hendo? But that's even more reason to buy an established player and just pay the fee and wages ( obviously within reason) rather than 3-4 risky cheaper players who's wages will amount to the same.

Sorry for the long winded rant but just gets to me the people who will without question support players who are linked to us even if the aren't good enough- open your eyes folks, we 've seen it far too often before!

Hi Eds long time since my last posts!
Sigs is defo going to be our player, I will also clear up the Skertal issue. He wants to go to Man city, Adam Johnson wants to come to use, the problem is the players valuations. I've been informed that a player swap and we receive 5m in return. Also Carroll is going nowhere.

Great site .. Please post .. I am very serious Liverpool fan ..

I hear of these players that we are linked with i.e borini etc etc ...and really its looks like we are going to waste yet more money this summer. No one can beat KK at wasting money, he blew 100m last summer, if only we had brought just 2-3 class players for that amount, we would easliy of finished in top 4. Just worried that Brendon rogers is targeting players who are not any better than we have already ..... What does every one think ?
{Ed019's Note - I'm sure BR knows what he is doing, and he has ofc worked with Gylfi and Fabio Borini before, so I don't see much risk if we sign those 2}

do players get paid by clubs every week of the year or just every week of the season? are players like suarez earning 90k this week for sitting on the beach while the fans who defend him to the hilt work their socks off?

Not 100% sure but I think they are paid a monthly salary. So a set amount each month plus bonuses.
You mention Suarez but I expect nearly all footballers are paid the same.
If you get holiday pay in work do you still work while sat on the beach?

MIKEY

Why are you concerned? They have holidays like we do then back into pre-season. 24 days holiday per year the typical working person gets. Do you have a problem with them getting paid whilst on holiday? Turn it in!

Ed are Liverpool watching Lucas Ocampos of River Plate at all he is a brilliant player and hes only 18. Hes 6.2" but has blinding pace and skill {Ed019's Note - I have no idea}

We had him watched by Caniggia last season. He was deemed too expensive, but I agree great talent.

Unfortunately our interest has dwindled.

Krasic.
Munian.
Affelay.
Elm.
And Ramirez would do me fine though.

I tried posting the other day, but it wasn't published....

I will try again for the last time. I have been told that, Reina is not moving on. He is a huge part of the team and will not be sold, nor does he want to move....

Players moving on I am told will only be Spearing, Adam & Maxi, Should we get our targets. Glen Johnson has been mentioned also as a possible exit if a very good offer comes in for him. We are not looking to sell him though, other decissions on players will be made in pre-season

No players have sounded out a move away including Skrtel and Suarez.....although Aquilani wants to stay in Italy.....

One player mentioned to me as a replacement for Spearing was infact a young German international who plays club football in Germany....

You will see I'm on the level
I will post more as i hear it...
{Ed019's Note - Why so many dots?}

A young german playing in Germany?
NO WAY. Where do you get these tit bits if info from. You my friend are truly on the level.

I know a lot of people go on about the top footballers just wanting Champions League Football nowadays but i think that the main thing they are after is the money. This is evident with the Drogba move and it is just an idea that has been planted in everyone's heads: e.g. 'Cavani/lavezzi etc won't come because LFC dont have champions league'. Seriously if i was a footballer and i was offered to play in the Europa with 100,000 pounds a week wages or Champions League with 50,000 pounds a week i would go for the first one. People have forgotten that footballers are businessmen in their own right and so i dont think that big names should be completely ruled out, as little chance as i know we have of getting any 'big players' solely down to the fact that LFC dont have Champions League! Our owners are pretty rich and players such as Suarez didnt exactly come for the champions league did they? If LFC offer a player a big wage, i wouldnt be surprised if they came? {Ed019's Note - LFC will not offer a big wage}

3 players he is going after

Hi Ed, Once again great site!
It's getting to a point where I am losing track of all these foreign players being mentioned with possible transfers to Liverpool with some I have never heard of. Is it just me or does everybody agree that why is it always foreign players and not Home grown talent that liverpool are looking at. We have great talent here at home who are currently fringe players for their clubs as in: Defoe, Lennon, Micah Richards and Adam Johnson who would appreciate starting games and not being substitutes. Why don't they try and purchase these individuals. These could make a big impact if they joined Liverpool. So why do we need to look overseas every transfer window.
What do you think Ed?
{Ed019's Note - Haven't we already tried this? And our Home Grown status is fine, we have more than enough room for foreign talent}

Lennon is not a fringe player, he was injured last season, ask any spurs fan and they will tell you, he has imrpoved and that when fit he starts!

22 Jun 2012 11:15:09
Hi Eds & Reds,

Do you see brendan Rodgers, using the Capital One Cup to blood in the younger player like Silva, Suso and Wisdom and Wilson next season. A bit like Arsenal have down through the years

Also, just in relation to the back up goalie position, is Jones gonna be released this Summer, IMO. i dont think him or Doni are good enough or capable of giving Reina an actual decent run for his money, I think he needs a stronger keeper there to put him on his toes a bit more. My suggestion as previously stated would be McGregor of Rangers, given their current circumstances, I think he would be available quite cheap.

If you look at United, they have Lindegaard ready to step into the frame if De Gea drops a clanger or gets injured. Lindegaard proved to be quite a decent keeper in what i seen of him, I am afraid we cant say the same for ourselves though.

22 Jun 2012 11:41:50
Press rumours for today have us linked with Fabio Borini (striker) and Gylfi Siggurdson (AM).
At £20m I wouldn't mind if we sold Martin Skrtel and replaced him with a much cheaper local-lad in Scott Dann (5m?)...We've got Kelly,Carragher, Wisdom and Coates aswell.
Glen Johnson was never a massive favourite of mine but would fit in perfectly with Brendan's "style" but I think he'll leave for the dosh.
Borini and Siggurdson would be great signings if we could "steal" them for less than £14m total.
Assuming we can add Spearing, Eccleston, Pacheco, Aquilani and Cole to the departure lounge (Aurelio,Kuuyt,Derby,Amoo are gone) we are doing good business.
Kjaer, Luuk De Jong, Rasmus Elm, A.Johnson, Jarvis, Sturridge, Boudebouz, Moses, Ba and a whole shed-load of other mercenaries aren't worthy of our club.......either through ability, cost,age or personality (or all four).
Shanks,Moran,Paisley,Fagan and Dalglish (and maybe Evans) wouldn't entertain a player who had a "dodgy life-style" and used to have them checked out.
Souness bucked the trend and we haven't recovered from his awful tenure.
We need players who want to play for Liverpool. That's important.
We need players who want to/ can play in Brendan's style of play.
We need quality to replace mediocre.
We, as fans, need to know that we will retain our best players and replace the chaff with wheat!
We want to be able to afford to take our kids to the match.
We want SUCCESS!..............We DEMAND that our owners start to REALLY understand what we want.........Liverpool is a smallish city in a small nation. Yes we've been culturally massive over many decades. We've punched well above our weight for over 50 years and we don't want "outsiders" turning us into a brand. If that's what they want they've got their work cut out.
The markets our beloved owners are looking at exploitng have already noticed Man City,Chelsea,Malaga,PSG,Anzhi etc.(all the moneybags Clubs)...............our past successes plus our music history etc. guarantee us just a few more years of recognition in the fickle Asian market so to compete we need to step up to the task. The task?.....What is "the task"?
Well, "the task" to me is to carry on doing what we're doing. Brendan Rodgers will identify who wants/needs to leave (Skirtel,Reina,Johnson etc.) and he'll probably make a few mistakes in his transfer-dealings. We need to stand by Brendan Rodgers and give him loads of time.....it'll be a bonus if he pulls it off immediately but the chances are he won't.
Kenny/Clarke's grand plan was basically sound but lacked a finisher and a truly creative midfielder. Brendan will try his best to sort out our problems and has the advantage of taking over a Club almost 40pts off the top but with a massive pulling-power and support. His first signing will be a young attacking midfielder (Siguurdson) and he'll deffo go for a striker to compliment Suarez (Borini?).
Joe Allen would've been a good buy (but we can't buy from Swansea for a year) so, maybe Nigel De Jong and A.Johnson for Skirtel and Reina/G.Johnson...?? (who knows?)
I'm just speculating now so, instead of doing a FIFA 12 by "announcing" our new squad I'll just say that I'm going to SUPPORT whatever Big Bren goes with because i think he might just know a little bit more than me (possibly) about what we need....Possibly.
Can't wait to really welcome Big Bren at first home game!! Let's all get behind him!

What's the big deal with De Jong? He's no more than a good prospect playing in a weak league. People need to stop winging & be patient. All the players on here linked to Liverpool (apart from Sig) are just paper talk.

I have to say is Borini better then any forwards we have im not sure. I would rather play Morgan then him.

Yes he is.

I hope the names were being linked with are superb 'finds',and bits of vision.Because they aint exactly instilling raging excitement

Morgan better than tried and tested Borini in Italy's 23 at Euro 2012? Morgan is only what he is, an exciting prospect. The young man obviously has potential and possibly deserves to b given a chance at some point.

Borini looks to me, like he could be the next Pippo Inzaghi.

I don't know about you lot but I'd be happy with Sigurdsson and Borini, although we do definately need another winger. I'd be chuffed with Adam Johnson. As for you all saying we need depth in the CM position, we don't because Brendan will use Hendo there!

Selling Spearing is a must. Get 3 million. Also, Aquilani will leave and I believe Cole will leave this season too. I think he will sign Sigurdsson and we definitely need cover for Lucas. A winger is a must and Borini will be a perfect back-up to Carroll.

Imagine reading this 3 years ago, horrific decline

We already have Henderson to compete with Lucas.

Why are some called fans discrediting every players linked to us,be it krasic,elia,sigurdson,tello and others.I just can,t fathom why the dislike for the aforementioned players,or is it because they are not in the calibre of the likes of cavani,hulk,hazard,messi,ronaldo....Some people failed to realize that these players did not just become great overnight,they started from smaller clubs and were spotted by the bigger clubs.Take for example the case of christiano ronaldo,he was spotted by fergusom whilst playing for sporting lisbon(portugal).You cannot tell me sporting lisbon are one of the renowned name in world football(may be only in portugal).What i am trying to point out is that some fans are just leaving in a "dream world"hoping for the likes of cavani,higuain,lavezzi,when we cannot attract them champions football.It is not that we cannot afford these players,but in a scenario where we are bidding for them alongside champions league teams,in your honest opinion whom do you think they will consider,obviously is the champions league teams.And also may i point out that we are not in the league of the mancities,psg,chelsea,anzhi,palermo....in terms of spending power.In conclusion,i think we should just"SEW OUR COAT ACCORDING TO OUR SIZE"meaning that we should spend within our means and try to do what other clubs like Newcastle are doing,trying to find the "NEXTGEM".Thanks EUG23'LFC.

I dont know if any of the Ed's know anything about this but i thought id ask anyway.

Lee Congerton used to work with the youth team at Liverpool many years back, became high up in the scouting set up at Chelsea and now is Frank Arnesens right hand man at Hamburg. I know for a fact, him and BR had a very close working relationship at Chelsea and have a good personal freindship aswell. Do you see in any way that Lee could come back to Liverpool and become part of the backroom team?

Not sure whether we'll be watching performances over the Euro 2012 with regards to potential bargains but I've been most impressed with Václav Pilař from the Czech Republic. All this talk of Navas and his homesickness has been banded about for a while, but my question is how was he able to over come that to put in very good performances so far during the Euro's? Is it easily treatable? I didn't think it was.

Eds/ fellow posters,

i need some assistance/advice from you lovely people!
im coming over to the UK from Aus in september and want to go to all the LFC matches, away v sunderland, home v Man U, away v norwich and hopefully the europa league match in that time, my question is what is the best way to go about getting tickets ?
im an LFC member so i understand i can go through a ballet but obviously i wont be guaranteed a ticket, my other option is try and wing it and hope i can pick up a ticket off somebody who has a spare or something like that!
any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

cheers
Aussie Red

Good luck is all i can say!cant see u getting a utd ticket...

If you're an LFC member you won't go through a ballot; that is how eseason members get tickets. As a member you have priority access to 8000+ tickets. The games you attend get stored on your members card and the more you go to the better chance you then have of going to some of the more popular matches, such as manu, arsenal, chelsea. Same with cups; you'll easily get tickets to the earlier rounds, and if you go to them all you'll have no problem getting tickets right through to the final (should we make it that far). You're not guaranteed final tickets it seems with the FA in charge however.
If there's any other detail I've missed I'm sure one of the others will fill you in (not in the violent sense of course).

SCF27

Good luck i've been trying to get a ticket for the united game for the last 3-4 years never happens tho :( but europa games u can buy tickets on the day for the group games...

Thankyou lads for your help, I have another question, what's the best way about getting tickets to the away games? Sunderland away for example?

Book Corporate but do it early and you can get Utd, City, Chelsea tickets etc, costs vary from £109 up but you get a meal before the game and a programme,

You should try a hospitality package, not cheap but worth it once in a while. Good luck.

Is it just me or does anybody else think Galliani is a absolute joke. Again he has come out and spoke about another clubs player saying it would be a dream to sign Balotelli. He needs to shut his mouth and keep it behind closed doors. After all, it isnt the first time hes done it surely its kind of like tapping up.

Also the dis-respect he has shown reagrding this whole Aquilani situation is nothing short of discraceful. Either buy him like you said you would or dont. Stop prolonging the situation. Anybody else in agreement? ED's what do you make of him?

Sam Adzii JFT96 {Ed002's Note - It is not uncommon in Italy and Spain.}

Everything about buying and selling players in Italy is just WEIRD!
Player ownership is a bloody shambles and then you have clubs with no money suddenly finding - what seems shady at best - funding for new players on massive wages.
Have a look at players IN and OUT transactions around transfer time, and have a look at the amount of players clubs have that are loaned out, i'm talking 20 players loaned out by about 10 different clubs, that's 20 each club. Sometimes i wonder if they even forget which players they own.

Red7.

I know Red7 mate. You know what i find totally baffling is a player can be part owned by 2/3 different clubs! Its all rather dodgy, ed, how does this part ownership system work?

Sam Adzii jft96

Galliani may be helping Italy . as Balotelli play in england and there is a match italy vs England .

Good morning everybody.
I believe if Skrtel leaves a player who will be a good replacement should be Kyriakos Papadopoulos of Greek national team.
Tall ,very strong and just 20 years old plays in Shalke and he will be a great option for many years
in our team.
What's your opinions

Good shout. But i doubt Schalke will be willing to sell him to us.

Sebastian Coates is tall ,very strong and just 21 years old plays in Liverpool and he will be a great option for many years
in our team

Oh they would. But it'd cost a pretty ridiculous amount of money to get him away from Shalke04. Frankly they'd be stupid to sell him.

Kjaer or Vertonghen would do me. Vertonghen is being sold for 7 million so wouldn't cost much.

Hey lads, just been doing a bit of pondering about potential transfer targets for LFC. Obviously we can't offer anything that Champions League clubs can offer but we are in a better position than a lot of other clubs around Europe with some young quality. The following clubs didn't qualify for the Champs League for 2012-13 season (some didn't even make Europa) and I feel we should be looking very closely at their players:

Bayer Leverkusen
Inter
Roma
Napoli
Fiorentina
Atletico Madrid
Athletic Bilbao
Sevilla
Villarreal
Marseille

Clubs in the Dutch league are also renowned for breeding quality young talent and the EPL is a step up for any player in the Eredivisie.

Liverpool have a higher standing and greater history in world football than all of these teams and with the new owners, quality young players like Suarez, and legend Steven Gerrard it shouldn't be too hard attracting some of their players. Obviously Cavani and Hamsik have been linked to better clubs than us (as has Muniain) but I think the following shortlist are all reasonably attainable and not too expensive (less than 20m):

Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli) ST/LW
Fabio Borini (Roma) ST
Lars Bender (Leverkusen) DM/RB
Andre Schurrle (Leverkusen) ST/LW
Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina) CF
Javi Martinez (Bilbao) DM/CB
Ander Herrara (Bilbao) CM/CAM
Nilmar (Villarreal) ST
Kevin Strootman (PSV) DM/CM
Luuk De Jong (Twente) ST

We've already been linked with one or two but was just wondering what the eds and others think about the likelihood of any of those happening, bearing in mind that they all fit the FSG policy in regards to age and re-sale value, plus they are at clubs either on par with or below Liverpool at present. We can probably offer higher wages than most of their current deals as well (especially considering the huge amount of trimming of the wage budget we've done in the last 18 months) and it would certainly be a step up in terms of club stature for all of them.

Personally my choices of those would be Schurrle and Martinez, and then if Ibrahim Afellay was available (as reported) for 6m he would certainly be worth buying. Yes, he has been injured and yes he is lightweight, but David Silva and Luka Modric are also "lightweight". And he isn't as injury prone as people think, he just had a recent lay off.

Cheers lads, YNWA

There are no 'better clubs' than Liverpool FC bud!

Well put together tbf mate. I can see your thinking, but most of them will be too expensive for our tastes.

I would go for Jovetic and Strootman if I was in charge of Mr Henry's cheque book(from your list).

Let's hope for the unexpected eh! (in a good way!)

Lee YNWA

There are no "better" clubs than LFC if you are an LFC supporter

However if you are a spanish, south american, etc. then there are "better" clubs then LFC

And that is how players will view it.

AnCo

Martinez would do me just fine. You want somebody to build a club around, there's your man.

Red7.

You have lots of top players listed and then borini. Do people not realise that this is embarrassing that he is been linked to join us.

Ander herera would be great

Lil red

Players from the Dutch league are renowned for "breeding quality"?
Our very own raheem sterling must be the best at "breeding" lol

MIKEY {Ed019's Note - haha :')}

I'd prefer average british players, at least they won't have their heads turned when real or barca come calling

Well said lad. for me it would be honda and munian. if we shelled out 20 for downing....

Hi, just wondering about this. Clarence Seedorf and Matthieu Flamini have both confirmed that they've left Milan. Although I don't think it would be realistic I was wondering why Liverpool (apart from FSG's philosophy) didn't in particular make a move for Seedorf. He is 36 and he has lost his pace, but not his class. Everytime I've seen him play he plays in the Paul Scholes role but can make a much better tackle. His leadership, vision and passing array are still there. If he plays in this role the only stumbling block for him could be the pace of the English game, but Seedorf still keeps himself pretty fit and Paul scholes has asthma and still manages it! Seedorf as you know has bags of experience, and has played many times against English teams in the champions league and coped fairly well. The way I see it is that despite (most likely) high wage demands putting us off as the owners wouldn't want to be paying a lot to someone who probably doesn't play a lot, but as proven by last season the younger players need nurturing and Seedorf can provide that plus the leadership and cover we desperately needed in the centre last season. It would prove invaluable to some like Henderson and spearing (if he stays) and would give the team a boost knowing they have a winner amongst their ranks. Seedorf has stated on the bbc punditory at the euros that he would like to the premier league as he's played in Italy and Spain before but never here.

Just my opinion, wondered what you thought?

Cheers

Seedorf has alot of baggage. I personally dont think his ego suits Liverpool

Sam Adzii JFT96

Seedorf may still have class, and i have to admit he's evolved well into that stalking, slow moving but very intelligent midfielders role. But after yet another off season, about his 20th one, his physical conditioning can only go one way.

Red7.

Yes he does have lots of baggage, for his vitamin pills.

I'd like everybody to think back to the England v. Ukraine match.
Try to remember Gerrards movement and how often he was in open space to receive a pass, whether he was dropping in as back-up or moving into forward space, he did it brilliantly.
So for the few people on here that said our new style of play won't suit Stevie. He's obviously shown he can, i still can't understand why anybody would doubt the versatility of somebody like Stevie G. But there you go, he's in the mood already by the looks of it, he reminded me of Alonso the other night, very firm and deliberate passing and ALWAYS found himself some space on a fairly congested pitch.

Red7.

Gerrard is brilliant as he can play pretty much anywhere

Gerrard is brilliant as he can play pretty much anywhere

I have been saying that all though Gerrard injury when the Special People wanted him thrown on the scrap heap and a repalcement brought in, lets me see who was it Mousa Sissoko what a bleedin joke, not good enough to lace Gerrards Boots.

Does anyone know what hotel Suarez is staying at in Miami? Thought I'd go and get it from the horses mouth wether or not hes gonna be a Liverpool player next season? Conversely he may be staying in an apartment then that would be considered stalking and I dont think his wife and the little un would appreciate that. Cheers people...Miami_Red

And hanging around the hotel would be just fine?

Are you a stalker?

Not ok, just easier. You can sit in the foyer bar and watch through a hole in your newspaper...

Suarez seen at Miami Heat game NBA Finals. Looks like he's on his way out lads. Miami should be reported for tapping up our player.

Maybe something to do with Lebron James "Miami Heat"being a shareholder in the club and asked to go by him

Mabe suarez is going to teach James how to get his teeth into the action.

Suarez is in miami because hes playing in the world football masters tour with the likes of messi,cavani,drogba,forlan

Sadly Heskey wasn't chosen to go. Probably wanted the game to be fair;)

alright ed's. just a quick question. i saw that it was likely joe cole is still going to be a liverpool player next season. do you think he'll be a regular and a part of rodgers plans? personally i've liked him for years even his few appearences with us. didnt have enough time to settle in my opinion, was a big move from chelsea to us, very different.
cheers, tom. {Ed005's Note - If he stays he'll be a squad player in my opinion.}

Like everybody else, he'll be considered a squad player. If his performances are good enough, he'll stay in the first team, but i really doubt it.

His wages are crazy. We should sell and go for younger player like susaeta Munian or Ramirez

22 Jun 2012 02:31:43
I think it may be tough for Brendan Rodgers to keep certain 'key' players, and let's be honest, if they are not happy then the club should let them go, and make some good money in the process.
Its like any job I suppose, if you are not happy in it, and are offered a new opportunity, its best that you leave.
Such is life, ultimately you have to enjoy what you do, and where you are. {Ed005's Note - Only one I've seen linked away with any credible base is Skrtel - and I wouldn't consider him a key player personally.}

I am an avid watcher of the serie a and Roma are my team in it... As a kopite when I heard we were interested in borini I started to laugh as I tought my mate was joking but to my bewilderment he wasn't.... Although he's still young for me borini will never be a 20 a year man he's a scrappy finisher and has no real skill pace or talent ! The Roma fans had another so-so season and they didn't take to borini at all with good reason... To put it simply like Mario Gomez he gets 10 opportunitys a game, but unlike Gomez he mightn't score any he's probably the most fustrating player to watch and reminds me of David ngog! I trust in rodgers and so far the (apparent) signing of siggurdson looks like a good buy but trust me fellow reds borini isn't our man !

I-breath-reds

I also meant to ask what ed005 tought of borini and any other eds or kopites ?

I-breath-reds {Ed005's Note - Haven't seen much of Borini mate so I find it hard to make any judgement on him.}

I've seen him play a bit and he does register quite high on the rubbishometer.

All the hendo hater's take a moment think about your big job move just like a new school it's hard strange massive history. Stevie G grew up with the club and had a right to progress because of that , hendo and big Andy need time and our help to learn what is about for god sake we aint got the money like man s**ty or torres love party so let's built our own and support that's what we are best at Brenden's RED ARMY

Jese Rodriguez is a crackin young player with fantastic ability - would be a good signing I think.

I'd say he's being walked through the ranks of Real Madrid.
I really doubt they'd let him leave at this age, knowing how much potential he has.

Hey Ed,s lovin the site ..just looking for an Opinion on this ..In light of all the transfer talk .. i can see us signing Sigurdson cause he seems to have his mind mad up he wants to work under Brendan Rogers and now he,s at Liverpool thats even better for him so looks dead cert unless another club offers him a bigger pay deal he cant refuse ..i think we will sign another striker .. my Question is .. Realistically how many more positions do you think Brendan rogers will look at and say i need a better player in that postion and look to buy and replace that player or buy back up for that player..wants the likely outcome for downing adam ,spearing ,henderson ,bellamy and maxi ..thanks ed
Vincent in dublin irelan {Ed005's Note - I think we'll look at another 3-4 after Sigurdsson.}

1. Sigurdsson
2. Krasic
3. Bedimo
4. FWD
5. CM

6. CB (if skrtel goes)

Munian- 20 million
Sigardson- 8 million
Tello- 7 million
De jong/Rondon/hooper-probably between 10 and 12 million
Back up for lucus

Out: cole-3 million
Aqua- 2 million
Kuyt- 1 million
Spearing- 4 million
Maxi- 1 million
Maybe Johnson, skrtel, or reina

Ed do you think this is realistic ed. I think it is finicially viable and will reduce the wage bill but the major problem would be convincing Munian {Ed002's Note - I am by no means covinced that this is all realistic. Sorry.}

No update since around 8. The Eds' finally threw in the towel after all the abuse they receive from idiotic so called Liverpool fans!

Honest, rational, realists, unbiased, logical etc etc is what the eds are. People who give them abuse due to a disagreement in opinion need to follow a different sport. I dont want to sound like a brown nose, but they all give up there time to 'edit' this site without them nothing will get posted. So its not just an opinion they bring they make the site!

I am still with Chris in regards to making it mandatory to add an email address to post.

If skrtel wanted to go personally i would let him go and let coates fill his boots as he has already played with agger at cb and knows his game well! However i would also buy a cb who is more established in the epl, someone like rob huth, as cover for the 2 mentioned and carra! A back 4 with pace and trickery on both sides accompanied with 2 tall powerful cb's, aswell as a new attacking player bought using the skrtel money! Who wouldnt want that?
A.K

Huth....oh dear.

Martin Kelly??

Huth? Why not sign Wheater while we're at it, have the slowest clumsiest centre half pairing on earth.

All the other clubs that are around us are making these brilliant signings and we are sat here waiting to go even further down the table in the seasons to come, in your opinion and reliable sources can you ahead some light on if we are going to sign someone

Thanks {Ed005's Note - Of course, we are going to sit back all Summer and do absolutly nothing and not make any attempt to sign quality players. Sigurdsson being close is a total lie. Links to quality players such as Rondon and Borini are being put out by the club's spin doctors in order to fool the fans.}

I'm an avid fan of the serie a watch the majority of matches and I can tell you now borini isn't quality he's far from it........ Lacklustre in attack adds no dimension only there to fill the shirt and maybe get a handful of goals...... He will never ever be a 20 a year man ......mark my words! {Ed005's Note - He is only 21 and adding certain aspects to your game come with experience, it is worth noting.}

Hi all just some general thoughts :
All the time i see posts about how FSG are business men and how they are trying to make a profit and now thay want invest big because thay dont want to lose money, but it just dosnt add up to me is why thay bought the club in the first place.
when you buy a football club you are not supose to make a profit. When you buy a club its because you are very rich and you want to make a name to yourself becuse lets face it football is not a business that you make a profit on.
so again I will go back to it why on earth FSG bought or great club ?
how can thay expect not lose money?
If you whant to make money there are so many better options.

I Personally think thay are not trying to make a profit becuse it dosent male sense to me.
eds what is your take on this topic ?
Please clarify what are their goals ?
Appreciate all the work you put on the site Keep it up.
Tom Red {Ed005's Note - Of course they are here to make a profit. Why would any businessmen come to a club to splash hundreds of millions and not get a return? We must remember that we are not Man City. Of course, FSG want to build the club up and make us profitable and self-sustainable. They have a long-term plan to do this and it involved CL football and getting quality players in.}

Tom red mate they are rich but not very rich and they excepted they knew nothing about football or liverpool when they bought our club and if you listen some of our legends they predict will take few years to get back in to top4 so tough time mate and sad to see small teams like chelsea or man city enjoying

Kop {Ed005's Note - You clearly know nothing about FSG. They did masses of research before buying Liverpool and of course they were still and are learning whilst at the club. They talked about LFC with people months before buying into the club and Henry read loads of books and did a bunch of research on football before coming in. Not very rich? Look at their group of investors - and how much they are worth. People forget we have FFP to comply with soon and we have no CL football so we can't go splashing like idiots and we won't go splashing like Man City. Who cares - they are just "predictions". Look up that word in a dictionary mate - prediction. Rome wasn't built in a day. Fans like you let the club down and create a negative atmosphere around the club and especially at Anfield.}

Ed5 mate don't get angry you can find it in google that they excepted they knew nothing about lfc or football and they are not rich compare to roman abramovich, manour bin zayed al nahyan,nasser al-khelafi or suleyman kerimov who are in differen league if you don't trust me you can google it or ask ed1 and i know FSG before even buying lfc mate
Kop {Ed005's Note - I'm not getting angry just correcting you. And I didn't say they were like RA or the City owners. They are going to run LFC like a business and make us self-sustainable partly by taking advantage of the great commercial opportunities at Liverpool. Why would I be an idiot and use Google and read forums and sites where moany little ignorant spotty boys use forums to moan and talk rubbish? How about you use Google and read about the LFC fan who works with John W Henry and discussed LFC with Henry months and months before he bought LFC and did research on football inbetween. Also, try and write in a way people can understand atleast.}

Thanks mate but will take time

Kop {Ed005's Note - Of course it will but it doesn't mean we won't get any long-term success.}

I think some of the eds need to chill out a bit.... "ignorant spotty boys use forums" you mean forums like this one? As much as it's good u are doing this for free, in ye end of the day if u dont like it, stop doing it, nobody put a gun to your head, and if u do like it , maybe u should stop moaning about it so much.
2 hotty {Ed005's Note - I didn't say ignorant spotty boys use forums - I said forums are used by ignorant spotty boys - there is a distinct difference. And I'm saying it because people like this person are ignorantly saying FSG know nothing about football or LFC just because we haven't signed anyone yet and I'm simply saying that they do and giving a good base of evidence for it - what is wrong with that? I'm simply correcting someone who is clearly a silly minor getting his knickers in a twist because no-one has been signed and then making ignorant assumptions about our owners. How is that moaning, would you care to tell me? I'll certainly be interested to hear your explanation as to how it is moaning. Be nice to hear from you. PS: If you don't the replies then don't post here, nobody is holding a gun to your head - or should I say: f u dnt lyk it ere dnt post no1 holding gun 2 ya hed. (just so you understand better)}

A silly minor or someone not as highly educated as you clearly think you are? FYI what you said and what I said mean EXACTLY the same thing. And I have red numerous posts from Ed's complaining about doing this sight for free and it's taking up too much of their time! I just think if you are going to reply, you could be a littleore polite with it and think about who the poster is wore you start making assumptions. {Ed005's Note - I don't think better than anyone else - but when people post things like this person did they are either very young or not very mature at all it is quite obvious considering someone spitting the toys out of the pram because we haven't signed anyone. And no, they didn't mean exactly the same thing. Saying "ignorant spotty boys use forums" means forums are only used by ignorant spotty boys, but you skipped out parts of what I said to take it out of context. I said "use Google and read forums and sites where moany little ignorant spotty boys use forums to moan and talk rubbish?" - now maybe I'm poor at reading English but I don't think I said what you accused me of no? So please, use my comments in their full context rather than taking them out of context and falsly accusing me of saying something I didn't. And if you read my comments in previous days I have a good relationship with many posters and try to get involved in constructive discussion with them and give them as full and as good answers as I can, and you'll find I'm very polite - surprisingly to myself even, people have thanked me for it. And another thing, editors be more polite? By all means, if you could find me an editor swearing at someone or saying something completly and utterly disgusting to someone to merit calling us impolite then please give me an example, I'm interested to see. I think what most people's problem is that they get angry at editors when LFC sign no-one or another club signs a good player - they get angry at editors when they don't say that LFC will sign Cavani and Higuain and Gotze, basically they get angry when we don't tell them what they want to hear. All very childish. And you have no reason to begin what you have just began - I was just rightfully correcting someone saying FSG know nothing about LFC or football based on the fact that we haven't signed any players - which isn't true so if you feel the need to criticise me for that or defend such a post fair enough. You told me to calm down when there was no indication I was angry, you told me I moan when I didn't moan I was stating a view - so you have absolutly no basis to go on as you have just done.}

It amazing to think all owners of Football clubs are in it to lose money (how stupid are you!) if you take time to look in to FSG prior to taking over at Liverpool you will see the model in which they develop their successful sporting enterprises (KEY WORD SUCCESSFUL) their pedigree within the sporting industry was established prior to purchasing Liverpool FC they did not come in to owning Liverpool without a plan to rebuild the club to the heights of EPL/Europe/World.

Unfortunately this as the previous post says will not happen over night, as I have already posted numerous times it will take 3-4yrs before we start seeing a return, next season we miss out on the lucrative CL and along with our league position means we miss out on funds that would have certainly gone towards improving the squad.

From my understanding Rodgers has 20mil to spend on new players this is without funds from sales but he also has to keep a check on salary which is the main factor when purchasing the names being banded around (we want players that are not totally money orientated).

I know it is foreign to most but patience and trust will have to given to Rodgers and FSG.

Jules {Ed005's Note - Thank you for speaking logic mate - lets hope you don't get told never to post here again or called a moaner.}

Ed005 is CLASS!!

How can that guy argue he can't even use correct grammar he's prob learning how to count to 10

Dedicated to Jules :
I am not stupid just stating facts if you wont to earn money football is not the place to invest in. fact!! ( I work for an investment company. I know what I am talking about !!)
thats whay I cant understand whay thay are investing in our club .
look at it in all the world people that own football / sport club are in it as an hobby.
I met many of that kind of people thay have so much money thay are bored thay : 1) go to politics 2) buy a sports club.
thay want to be popular an known in the public.
now again the assumption that thay want to eran money from lfc is not reasonable that whay I am saying that its very strange. so that is what I asked now going and calling me stupid because I am tarying to have an intelligent conversation seems disproportionate.

Ed005 my question is whay wold a businessmen come to a sports club to make a profit the P/E ratio is terrible ?
thanks Tom Red
P.S.
Ignore the trolls. {Ed005's Note - Liverpool is a project for FSG and like the Red Sox, they clearly have a vision to return us to the top where we were before - in the process making us profitable and self-sustainable and taking advantage of our commercial opportunities. Obviously they won't get a return right away but long-term. Personally I don't see the logic in buying a club, spending lots of money on them for no reason. Indeed it has been suggested that they could potentially build the club up and increase the value of the club and sell for a profit. In all honesty, no-one knows what their intentions are we can only guess - I think one thing can be agreed on is that they are good intentions.}

Thanx

Hi eds,
First time posting. I believe this is an exciting time for liverpool, with a man at the helm who is young, full of intent and full of ideas. Hopefully the players will be receptive to his ideas as I don't believe Rodgers will have the finances to make wholesale changes. And I don't believe wholesale changes are required. At times last season liverpool played some good stuff, they just lost their way in second half of season. Hopefully a striker and some creativity for midfield will be signed. Gylfi will be a welcome signing, when it eventually and hopefully happens. Liverpool seem to be playing their cards close to their chests with transfers, and rightly so. So my question for the eds is when do you expect to see transfer activity being officially announced by the club?
Thanks, Jeraldinho {Ed005's Note - It is hard to say when it will be anncounced but no doubt behind the scenes we are working hard on identifying good players and getting them in.}

Hi Eds & Reds,

If you could name 3 unsung hero's of last 25 years as a LFC player who would they be, type of player who is/was consistent on the pitch, made headlines on back pages not on front pages, did a damn fine job withouth the plaudits.

Heres my 3:

Gary Ablett R.I.P
Steve Finnan
Dirk Kuyt

I was thinking about Dave Burrows and Lucas Levia, but Dirk nudged it for me,

R_R {Ed005's Note - For me Sami Hyypia as one. Got some praise but nowhere near the praise he deserved for being a world class defender. You look at the praise the Terry's, Ferdinand's, Vidic's get these days and he never got it despite being a better defender. Another is Steve Finnan and Danny Murphy for me.}

Cally for me, and Ronnie Whelan. And Ray Kennedy.
ND

Yossi Benayoun - we truly died after he was sold with no flair left in the team at the time

Heskey
Finnan
Hyypia.
AnfielUSA {Ed029's Note - I'd go for Hypia,who in my opinion is 100x better than vidic, Benayoun who should never have been sold and Finnan, great full back.

I was gutted when dalglish left as in Scotland as in Liverpool he is a god. felt everything went against him last season ( suarez affair , woodwork hit more than anyone, penalties missed , Carroll settling in, reina having a terrible time, agger , lucas, gerrard all injured . Dont know the stats but we must have missed more chances than the opposition in 90% of prem games. All these factors Will not be repeated this season and with new signing bedded in we were always going to improve this season.

That said, after a couple of weeks of mourning and the appointment of Brendan Rogers I am again looking forward to the new season. He talks a great game and with his style of play, his obvious knowledge of the history of Liverpool and his ability to converse in Spanish means we have acquired a manager for the long term.

Don't think we need radical change and hope we get 2 quality players in funded by some of the high earners and players not good enough being moved on.

Liverpool are the biggest, most acclaimed club in England and I'm looking forward to see them take their rightful place at the top again and seeing my 10 year old son witnessing this As I did from the early 80's when I was a boy.

Forget all the money other clubs are spending, we CAN. get top 4 this year and we CAN then win the prem soon after.

Come on the Pool

I known i dont make much sense but i mean the amount of transfer you actually get right becuase to me your pass rate (if that makes sensse) is much lower then SSN.Morover it seem to me that many of the EDs are jealous of the amount of people that believe SSN rather then the EDS. Face it editors your never be as goos as SSN in my opionion you'll never ever been near as good as them and never will , so therefor stop trying to compete with the.
{Ed005's Note - Please, by all means, find a post from an editor, copy paste the link or copy the post to us where we have said we know everything or have information? It'll be interesting to see you find it. Another thing - SSN is disliked by most LFC fans as they have an extreme dislike for Liverpool and portray them in a negative way.}

Dear Eds, full marks for even tolerating posts like this.
This particular is absolutely incapable of articulating their views, or even following the basic principles of English (ie spelling and grammar)!.

Sly sports is part of Murdock empire as the Stun. Hate them both but have to get sly to see the reds. Both muck raking gutter press media, without a shred if morality. Unlike this site. Get your facts right before accusing eds.

a good broadband provider, good laptop, tv cable, plenty of free sites play all games worldwide ( put up with a few pop ups ) = no Sly spurts.
How they get away with the monopoly they have over TV rights?
LFCTV show all the ressies games online, much less to subscribe to us and keep money in the club ;0)

Would just like to question the mentality of some of the posters who feel obliged to abuse the Ed's.
I for one am not fortunate enough to have any "sources" or know antibody "ITK", and come on this site numerous times a day to try to find things out about he club I love and have supported for 30 years.
Very few posters I'm sure, actually do have genuine insider knowledge, e.g the legend that is Macca, but the guys that do, take the time to pass on what they have heard, and i.m grateful to them for it. The other not so genuine rumours are a source of amusement to me to make the day go quicker, and I just laugh it off! It's at this point I have a problem. For me, I read the post, look at the Ed's reasoning behind why the feel the rumour is credible or not, then I wait............I wait to see what ACTUALLY happens. Why would you feel obliged to take the time to abuse someone for having an opinion?
I really hope the Ed's don't get too discouraged from tripe spewed by the mindless few, and realise that us genuine users of the site appreciate the job they do.
I'm sure I.ll probably get some negative comments from a few but just wanted to take the time to add my support to the Ed's.

I wish everyone would stop with this tika-taka stuff. We wont be able to play like that.

Barcelona do it and they have Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas, Sanchez, Thiago, Messi, Pedro, Alves etc.

We have Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Shelvey, Spearing. I doubt even Gerrard would suit this type of football. Maybe Suarez could.

Rodgers will need to get a new way of playing, Even at Swansea he had better passers of the ball. {Ed005's Note - Funny you mention the likes of Spearing and Adam who have limited technical ability. Lucas, Gerrard, Suarez, soon Sigurdsson, Agger, Johnson, Enrique and hopefully some new signings are more than capable of playing this type of football.}

I hate the Tiki Taka style, its long winded, and at best translates to 'verbose' in the dictionary.
LFC is not Barca.
PS, I don't like Barca anyway.

There are agger, riena, johnson, enrique, lucas, suarez, shelvey, bellamy, cole, gerrard (can suit any role, he closes down, passes well, and attacks through the middle)

Top Poster:
who are you to say our guys cannot play a certain type of way?

I for one would be happy with the signing of borini. He by no means scores spectacular goals but he certainly can finish the ball. With the likes of suarez and siggurdsson making solid passes in, and and maybe Carroll to bring the ball down for him he will get plenty. From what I've seen I believe he reads the game very well and when you can do that you don't need to score spectacular goals. Just my opinion
