Hi All Liverpool Fans.
I Would personally go and get Dimitri Payet for 13m and
half Million than getting Stu Downing for 19+ If you have not seen this guy Play he is awesome:check im out on u tube ed what do you think Yes/No/Dont bother If you look back a week or two i said He should be bought.If so the next player in for me :Marko Marin what do you think Ed.

Trigger61 {Ed001's Note - Ed002 put forward Payet in November last year I think as a very real and possible target for us. I have never seen the lad play and youtube vids are a waste of time but I trust Ed002's judgement.}

How do people feel about Charlie Adam:

Agree = you want him at liverpool
Disagree = you do not want him

Personally I do not want him, he isnt good enough in my opinion.

22 Jun 2011 23:41:24
in my opinion DC isnt looking at good enough talent and we are linked with players that teams like blackburn newcastle fulham would be after im not saying we should try and buy messi but a bit better than nzogbia adam etc

I'd rather have Raul in my squad than Pato.

I'm surely not alone in saying I'm delighted Young is on his way to Old Trafford. Talk about an overated talent !!

There are many many others preferable to him in my opinion, surely KK wasn't really after him, it was just a rumour to flush Fergie out ! Seems it worked !

Commoli's selection options must surely contain much better than Ashley Young !

22 Jun 2011 23:07:32
Don't know about everyone else but I am so addicted to this site, I am logging on several times a day to see or hope to see a snip or breaking gossip about who we will sign next.

Harsh facts though are that we have paid over the odds for Henderson and nobody else in the prem even seemed to be in for him which worries me, then we look as though we are trying to bid too low or slowly for other targets. Adam deal looks destined to fall through, downing well again watching young arrive at scum we appear to be lagging behind with regards concluding the deal. I just feel we are losing momentum and the excitement is fading for me.

Total trust in kk but we need to get our heads out of the clouds with all this higuain nonsense, we will get mediocre overpriced English based players....

22 Jun 2011 23:02:25
Now if you guys want quality there is only one person for that!

EMILE HESKEY!

22 Jun 2011 22:59:32
Eds, would you agree that a fee in advance of 6-7 million for Charlie Adam would be excessive. I really hope we dont pay over the odds for someone who would be a squad player. Also, not sure of Mata would cope well in the EPL. He's a class act, but would be a big gamble if we pay 20 odd million for a player who would immediately become a target for the hatchet men defenders and risk injury or going missing in games. For that reason i think Downing is the safer option. what do you think eds?

22 Jun 2011 22:57:44
Come on guys, even if Jack Rodwell did want to play for Liverpool, why would Everton ever sell him to us?

22 Jun 2011 22:53:58
liverpool confirmed that marveux did not fail medical...so i refer to a previous post i made mentioning that this possibly happened, stating liverpool probably deliberately failed it. I could see Enrique comin in last minute as an agreement reached re Marveux.

Why Steven Gerrard Is Anxiously Awaiting Kenny Dalglish's Next Move

So when the Liverpool captain states he is "anxiously" awaiting news of who will follow Jordan Henderson in at Anfield then it is a sign of how crucial the next few weeks are with regards to the team's prospects next season.

"We've got to make sure we've got a squad capable of going into the season and competing with Manchester United, " said Gerrard.

"It's a big statement by the club getting a big signing in early and now we're watching anxiously for a few more to follow.

"It's exciting times. It's important this team delivers very soon because we've been a number of seasons without putting a trophy in the cabinet and that's not what Liverpool is about."
Tweeter Facebook FourSquare iPhone

Gerrard is not the only one desperate to learn about Kenny Dalglish's next move in the transfer market. Liverpool's fans are also on tenterhooks.

SO IF HE DOESN'T KNOW, FORGET YOUR COUSIN, AUNTIE, UNCLE OR MATE KNOWING ANYTHING!

22 Jun 2011 22:47:21
Ed over the last couple of days people have been posting that Steven Gerrard will be moved to centre back.Now that i think about it, it kind off makes sense as we still seem to be in the market for centre midfielders.Do you think it is possible and if so do you think it would work?(RD.RED) {Ed009's Note - I'm sorry but I can't see it happening. In my opinion Gerrard has already been overly damaged by english coaching, which has tried to restrict the classic, bursting forward Gerrard of old, and this would only further neutralise his greatest strengths.}

No, the Charlie Adam Transfer is not nearly done. This is one deal that won't be kept out of the media. Blackpool can't help themselves and Oysten loves nothing more than to get on TV. If anything interesting happens with Adam then Oysten will be on Sky Sports within seconds of any developments.

after watching the majority of the under 21's i think its safe to say Javi Martinez is pure class, the lads got everything a defensive minded midfielder needs and he can play too, i just wish KK would test Athletic's resolve with a bid, is this likely ed?

JD {Ed009's Note - I would love us to sign the player, but I think it is very, very unlikely.}

22 Jun 2011 22:35:26
eds, what are your thoughts on chris samba? think we should put in a cheeky bid? and if so do you think we stand a chance of getting him? cheers man great site btw! {Ed009's Note - I think Arsenal are likely to sign the player which is good, as I think we can do better.}

22 Jun 2011 22:33:46
Liverpool will sign some quality footballers before the summer transfer window closes.
This will occur due to the need for champions league football and to have a shot at winning it on home turf, for a second time at Wembley.

22 Jun 2011 22:27:52
Lucas Rodigues is going to sign. He is world class. Look at his 17min video on youtube

Disagree=Downing is not good enough for liverpool

22 Jun 2011 22:27:39
I don't understand why we are so cheap when it comes to foreigners. When ever we are in negotiations with a foreigner we seem to never be willing to pay the asking price (suarez took many many under valued bids, apparently we are unwilling to pay 11m for payet) but when it comes to english men we are quick to pay over the odds for them eg Carroll not worth 35m, henderson defo not worth 20m, and downing he's not worth 15m.

22 Jun 2011 21:03:32 I am sick to the back teeth of all the moaners , cribbers , criers and whingers on this sight get a grip and grow up!If you dont like it p*ss off and go and wreck someone elses head, i am just made up we are not in liquidation in league one and Hodgson as manager with the other two bloodsuckers, We spent 50 million on Carrol and Suarez Kenny and DC did the business , done and dusted , We have bought Henderson who never cost 20million to those plantpots who would believe the Anti LFC media , mate your so gullible, All work is being done behind closed doors , So yo can guess, play footy manager noone knows really who we are getting , we can speculate but lets wait we are in safe hands unlike the NHS with Cameron, Stop slagging off and making fools of yourselves this is not the Liverpool way and ripping Macca mate hes trying his best to give some info it mightn't always be right but things change but he doesn't need to come on herehes trying to sharenb some inside info which i am grateful , so Macca nice one lad and thanks i want to apologise for all the planks , I am excited with this new season with hope in my heart and trust in Kenny and DC and owners how do put up with all the divs Eds you should shell them bless ya loads YNWA

the irony of you complaining about people complaining is pretty funny. I think you're missing the point, people are saying they are a little dissappointed because for our money we aren't getting the best available at that price. You telling me you think carroll is the best young striker we could've bought for 35m?
or henderson the best young midfielder for 13-16m? No carrol in particular was way overpriced. He may well be absolutely amazing in future but right now was he the best striker we could've bought for that price? No.

hey ED how much is the buyout-clause in lucas rodriguez's contract??there sumfin on talksport about liverpool eyeing a move but the clause in his contract is astronomical.

TEAM LAMELA. {Ed009's Note - It's about 80 million from what I gather. He probably wouldn't cost quite that much but he won't be joining Liverpool this summer.}

"I have been given some information by a reliable source:

Liverpool are having difficulty agreeing fees for a lot of the English-based players with extraordinary valuations placed on their players. Liverpool are currently playing a waiting game, hoping either the club will eventually deal or the player will help force the move with a written transfer request. For some players, this is sometimes an issue as they lose certain bonus payments as a result of handing in a transfer request.

Downing - AV asking for £20m - Liverpool willing to offer £15m MAX
Adam - Oysten trying to orchestrate bidding war and asking for £12m - Liverpool wanting to pay £9m. There is a good chance a comprimise will be met on this agreement.
Clichy - Wenger won't sell to Liverpool although Clichy wants the move.
Enrique - Newcastle want £12m+, Liverpool only willing to offer £9m
Wickham - Ipswich using Sunderland bid to raise the price on Wickham but player wants Liverpool move. Liverpool have offered £6m + player loan (Shelvey). Ipswich want £10-12m
Mata - Valencia waiting for his stock to rise during the U21 championship before squeezing as much money as they can out of us. We are willing to offer £22m. They are looking at closer to £30m.
Dann - We are interested but again Birmingham asking for £10m+.

Liverpool are getting fed up with overinflated prices although all players wish to move to Liverpool. It's a waiting game really.

Expect comprimises to be met with a couple of deals going through in the next two weeks - more than likely Adam & Wickham first with possibility of Downing."

This sounds very believable, mate. Just give us a hint in regards of your source. At least something general...

RHI {Ed009's Note - I don't think he can be expected to tell us his/her source but it does seem the most realistic post I've seen in a long while, despite being very general. If it is just conjecture its likely close to the truth.}

Eds just a concern of mine, while we (LFC) are dithering over valuations and bids to apparantly so many targets, and getting absolutely nowhere fast or even slow. Our friends up the road who already have a winning squad are strengthening with minimum of fuss, no rejected bids etc. they are straight in with their targets and getting it sorted. Now if we mean business get it done, whats with the trying to save a few million here and there, if we go straight in get our targets who in line with the requirements are young, then that few millions plus the rest and hopefully the trophies will repay that ten fold. Or would we rather risk losing out on these players getting second rate ones and lose on the pitch also.

I say get it sorted Comoli, play the game right get the players and never mind a wee pat on the back for yourself for saving a few pounds or dollars as it is.

anyone agree (as its getting rather frustrating now)

Phil the red (Belfast)

Would appreciate your view ed {Ed009's Note - Look at the bigger picture. Whilst united are sealing deals neither Arsenal, Chelsea or even City have done anything of note yet. Just be patient!}

On the note of transfers or the lack of them. Remember when KK was asked about being named full time manager. He kepted on saying the club will let you know when the when we are ready. This is happening now with the transfers. I trust in KK and FSG to do the best for the club by not shouting it from the roof tops who we are after. Warr68

Just to clear up all rumors about Charlie Adam, the deal will go through, I'm not sure exactly when though. Adam has asked to leave multiple times in the past few weeks. Other clubs are interested but he doesn't even want to listen to their offers as he has his heart set on Liverpool.

The deal WILL go through.

I have reliable sources (I actually do have sources unlike a lot of people on here. You can trust this as my posts have been 100% accurate so far).

Thanks, James.

22 Jun 2011 21:45:31
Liverpool will sign Nzogbia or Johnson, Adam and Mata that's it! Transfers completed.. Steven Gerrard will move into the right centre of the back 4 and play alongside a fit again Daniel Agger. Kenny likes his teams to be good in posession with everyone comfortable on the ball and play a passing game from the back to the front.
Don't forget Stevie started as right back and will be able to extend his career playing this position and also guide the new players in front of him.
Some midfield players that have gone on to be Brilliant back 4 players in there 30s
Beckenbaeur, Hansen, Lawrensen, Mathias, to name but a few. Mascherano just played there in the Champions League Final.

!!!I ADMIT THIS IS FICTION NOT FACT!!!

1. Spanish Armada. Mata, Martinez and Capel. May seem like Match Day fever but my word are these kids amazing.

Mata is amazing and not just from watching U21 but I like La Liga and he is Valencia's star man. I would get myself a Mata shirt and he would be quite the coup.

Martinez reminds me of a young Xabi; with defensive capabilities. He dictates play to his Tempo and is erfect for the pass and move mentality of our club. I would love him here but highly doubtful for less than 25m and doubtful Bilbao will sell their best two players (Llorente)

Capel has pace and flair, he had a great cross for Adrian and if he is consitantly like he was in that game I hope he signs lol.

2. German Air Raid. I would love these two wonderkids from Germany. Gotze and Muller; Gotze is a very similar player to Wilshere; except younger, stronger and better. He has taken the Bundesliga, yeah a lower league defence wise, but he is the definition of wonderkid. Everyone knows about Muller and how he tore us apart last summer but damn he is a beast; surely 15m would lure him away.

3. French Revolution. Sahko, Cissohko and Sissoko; these three are extremely talented players and should be within the French set up in a few years time. Sahko is future captain of France, to add to his goliath frame and capabilities with the feet I want him at CB; Phil Jones but more experianced and bigger. Cissohko is probably the best young LB on the planet, defensively he is the best but his attacking game isn't up with Coentrao or Marcelo but he is an amazing defender. Sissoko is the next Gerrard; identical to our #17 Gerrard when he was younger and would be another great signing for the future and now.

!!! I REPEAT THIS IS FICTION NOT FACT!!!

I don't expect us to sign all of these; let alone 3 of them but I keep telling myself that these are KK and DC's main targets.

(This is not based on FM; although I do play I never use Liverpool as it is easy to get them to top; I play Villareal as they have a small budget and world class youth. So please no FM this and FM that)

The Next ;) (Post in Banter as this is 150% Fiction, even though that isn't possibly but hey I can dream) {Ed001's Note - I always play as Crewe, Dario Gradi is my non-Liverpool football hero.}

You probably won't agree with me but i think the transfer policy of the club at this time sucks ! We've only bought Henderson (which i personally think won't live up to the expecations) and things have already cooled down. The other clubs are much more active at the transfer market and they've signed many of our potential targets such as Bojan, Jones and Young(soon to be completed by the scum). I personally think DC and KK should try to attract players and confince the clubs to sell with a lot of cash. It won't work otherwise cause we're clearly not the preffered club to play for esspecially without any European football. How do you guys think? Should we spend money like city or should we try to buy cheaper players for less money?

just spoke to sky andrew(football agent) he said there is to be a few deals in and out of anfield in the next week or so! i asked him who and he said wickham is possible but alittle pricey which is why we are looking at other targets (roux) also payet is dc choice but kk not keen downing more likely buy villa being stubborn after young signed for man utd and no one brought in yet. he said we could lose out on other targets clichy, nzogbia and mata because of dc and kk dont want to overpay for players that aint proven.

---------------------------------------------what? like henderson and carroll?

22 Jun 2011 20:43:15
A.Young havin med at manutd.Shame as i think he would have been a great signing but, in KK, Damien and FSG I have faith.I just hope that we have a couple of potential "world class" players up our sleeve(Hazard, Arda Turan, Aly Cissokho, Mata e.t.c.)If the rumours are true that we are going to sign the likes of Downing, Wickham, Dunn and Adam then No nineteen will be just a pipe dream.You can go a hell of a long way with good honest hard working professionals but to go all the way you need A couple of players the likes of above and like Suarez.Only my opinion.C'mon KK I know that you will be straining every sinew to put our beloved club back on top of the pile again.

Come on lads. The transfers are getting out of hand now. Half of the stories could even sell in the SUN newspaper there that bad. Can you honestly say that downing is worth 20m ? Wickham worth his asking price? Nzogbia good enough??
I honestly think they are the same sort of Players we already have at the club. N if they were to be bought we will be on here come january moaning how poor they are and we need more quality signings.
I'd love to see MATA in a Liverpool shirt. Fingers crossed he signs. Adams is a quality player but would he really shine in a top Liverpool team?? He ain't worth 10-12m!! FACT.
Soon as I have some facts I will post

The source is strong.

Joey Barton is not liked by people for various well known reasons relating to past events. Has he become a reformed figure to the extent he was at SG charity golf event in Portugal? If he was a hate figure with his peers he wouldn't have been invited to be at the charity event. So if he is accepted by SG and the other people involved in the charitable work, is it a fair assumption to say he would not be the disruptive influence in the dressing room we would envisage him to be? A potential signing? If he did sign how unpopular would he be as most people think he is a b***end.

A quick note to the people asking why are we taking time on transfers. Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs(apart from Freidel on free) havent done any yet and Man U have only officially done 1, then apart from Sunderland who have done a few frebbies nobody else in the Prem has done much, so I dont see the need for the panic just yet!

It seems the scum are closing in on Young, so it'll be another good player we'll miss on... Damien's transfer policy is not working at all so far, exept for a 20 million waaay overrated player which i asume will be a flop... i sure hope i'm wrong....

22 Jun 2011 20:10:15
Mata is joining next tuesday apparently for 22 million plus shelvey. what do you think about it ed.

Downing is also a done deal 20 million plus konchesky.

Liverpool have also got a heap of intrest in gignac from marseilles for 13 million.

we have also put a bid in today at 5:25pm to sign shaktar donetsk willian for 12 million + joe cole.
What do you think about these speculations ed. {Ed009's Note - I have heard nothing of the Mata deal but would be a fantastic coup. Downing is likely to sign I feel but 20 million is too much for me and I have not heard of any real interest in the other two apart from Willian, but that was a while ago now, but both would perhaps be good signings, and it would be good to offload Cole.}

Just wanted to make a point with all this negativity going on surrounding our scouting of the french market, i realise we made a massive hash of things with houllier and the likes of diomede, pongolle, cheyrou and many more is naturally going to make us cautious, however: henry, pires, vieira, gallas and anelka are enough reasons for us to trust kk and commolis judgement.. if we are trying to base ourselves on the arsenal model i think it's worth giving it a go!

22 Jun 2011 19:59:51
It is certainly frustrating with little or nothing happening and other clubs seemingly getting things done , however, when the papers say so and so pipped LFC for a player how do they (or we) know LFC were even interested in same player.Things are kept very quiet at the club these days but there are so many people making up stories on Twitter etc. and so many dreamers ( who possibly play FM11) posting there fantasies , that one of them is bound to get something right and then claim to be "In The Know".
Personally I think we can only wait until things are announced by the club before believing them.
Believe me I am as frustrated as the next man and waste hours on these rumours sites just to have hoes raised and then dashed.
I wish I was not addicted to them :(

Downing or Mata will be brought in, with KK strangely prefering Downing.... Glenn Johnson will be used more as a right winger this season along with Henderson, which is why we are only focusing on left sided players

except downing and mata can both play on the right hand side and have done so many times in their career.....good one!

22 Jun 2011 19:54:43
For the people moaning about us not signing A.Young give it a break.I can tell you now he will fade out of the picture very quick.REASON-He is not good enough simple as that.He is not consistant and gives the ball away too much, if he is not good enough for utd he is certainly not good enough for liverpool.So if they want to waste their money so be it.What do you think ed ?(RD.RED)

I cant reveal the players but went to the Take That concert in Dublin last weekend with KK, DC and JH.

It was very emotional, and as KK was signing Shine while holding his lighter up in the air, he told me that they were about to sign none other than............................. okay I cant say it, I promised Damo I wouldnt.

It big though. Very very big. Ah what the hell.

Its Red Sox veteran Manni Ramirez, gonna play right wing/striker.

Evening eds , just wondering why all rumours have gone quite and no more British players have arrived .any comments cheers psv . {Ed009's Note - I think we are possibly waiting until the international transfer window opens.}

22 Jun 2011 19:45:08
Ed if we get Mata, what formation do you think we'll play. Will we play a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 with Suarez and Mata on the wings or a 4-4-2? I hope we don't play 4-4-2 because that formation is dead in the modern game. {Ed009's Note - I think we will play a variation on 4-4-2 which certainly isn't dead - Kenny used it in the latter stages of last season - with a 4-3-3 in attack and a 4-4-2 in defence, so one out and out winger (perhaps Mata) and one winger operating more central (perhaps Henderson).}

Breaking news: Christian Poulsen's wife is sending him to a Swiss 'Dignitas' clinic. "It's the best for everyone", she told reporters, "he's so slow, even my kids embarass him playing football in the garden". Poulsen told reporters: "I might as well, I'm no good to no c**t".

22 Jun 2011 19:36:14
Its OK having all these rumours flying around but what everyone needs to do is believe in King Kenny and the true Liverpool way and that means we announce our dealings when they are happening or about to be completed. I.E Carroll , Suarez , Henderson. KK WILL come up with the goods. Keep the faith.

22 Jun 2011 19:35:15
Just read Macca's post, i hope Adam and Downing come to anfield. No not world class signings but good players who will add depth to our squad. Look at Man Utd, people like Scholes, carrick etc are not woirld class but players like these have maintained Man Utd being constantly challenging on all fronts. Personnally i dont see Mata coming, but i am happy with signing of Henderson and the potental signings of Adam, Downing, Wickham. I think as a LFC fan we have good days to look forward too.

Eds- Do you think Mata's quality performances in u21s has increased (KK and DC more likely to make a move) or decreased (competition for the signing of the player)? {Ed009's Note - decreased, as more clubs will be after him and the price will have risen.}

BREAKING NEWS

This is truly amazing, I've just come home from a kyte makeing seminar in Southport, It was organised by a bunch of kyte enthusiasts from Valencia, the European capital of battle kyts, anyway the cheif kyte enginer's name was Carlos Mata 1st cousin of Liverpool target Juan Mata, he told me that Juan will definatly be signing for Liverpool once the International transfer window opens, he also agreed to tell me another bit of amazing transfer news if I beat him in a kyte battle, he was an amazing battler a true warrior but I knew I had all the LFC fans behind me and eventually I betterd him, the news that I won from him was that Ever Banega will also be signing for Liverpool, this is a great day, keeping it windy,

Editor I have found a major flaw in these moaning c**ts theorys.

a)They moan that Liverpool arent getting world class talent that will see us win the league against the likes of Man united, Chelsea, City, Spurs.

b)They moan that those teams are trying to poach all our signings in some weird conspiracy.

well either they are right and these are talentless has beens or never will bes that the other teams are trying to poach of us to stop us conceding or they are actually good signings that would be welcome in all the top teams in the league.

Message to all Liverpool fans who are moaning and groaning about the players we're being linked with.Its started to really f***in grate with me and i'm sure a lot of fans and the eds who have to read this negative s**t all day.Were linked with Payet now and its seems to have placated some fans with his goals and assists.The so called s**tty French callers seem to stop dead in their tracks and dont mention it.Same with Hazzard.But soon as a player like Roux is linked its a s**te league.My point being that whoever K.K decides to sign weather he be from Timbuctu or Milan.I'll support him and the player because he's forgot more about football then any of us can ever imagine to know about.If i've never heard of him i'll still expect him to be an improvement on what we've got, other wise K.K wouldn't have signed them.If you dont like the way K.k/Commoli do there dealings at the moment because things seem quiet then slap down anyone who dares insults the King is not a real supporter.If you want to support a team with a high turnover of players and sign players more regulary then us, go and f*** off and support City.I used enjoy the banter but all these f***in doom and gloom merchants have really started to piss me off.Remember last year.No dough at all, nearly f***in folded and people still piss and moan.Jonny Boy.

what the hell is going on at the cluib. We are now close to losing out to man utd for a 2nd time with young having a medical. I personally like young and think that he would have been great for the club. Sunderland have bid for wickham too.

All these players are ones that we were told were nailed on dead certs, including Adam, yet at the moment I am having serious concerns that we are going to sign anyone of any quality.

I have faith dalgleish to a degree, but if we don't start tying up these deals soon, i.e. Mata which looks like won't happen, we will be left behind which we cannot afford to do.

Lets hope there is some serious secret deals happening that not even Macca will be able to find out.

Hi Eds,

first off, can I just say how relieving it is that (for the first transfer window in a while) we havent been linked to Carlton Cole!!!

also, i posted a couple of weeks ago as a bloke i work with has links to sants FC. who doesnt think Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be sold (saints want to improve squad and dont need the money).

after doing some admin work today, i came across a female physio who works for the company in southampton n whose name is Oxlade-Chamberlain.

I will send a cheeky email tomorro and find out if she is related and/or knows anything!

On Bayern Munich bid for Tranmere Rovers' Dale Jennings. Tranmer boss Les Parry added: "Like with all transfer deals, they say they'll give us a penny and we say we want three and then we'll fight over the difference and that's where it's at, at the moment."

The former Liverpool trainee, who joined Rovers at the age of 15, is thought to be keen on a move to the former European champions.

"I've spoken to him and he's interested - who wouldn't be?" Parry continued.

Hateing all the bitching on here about buying young britidh players and paying for potential. Didn't arguably our greatest defender have to eat his words some 12 years ago when he said of a certain whisky nosed manager you will never win anything with kids..............and look where them kids ended up the spine of his team was youngster mixed with experience like scholes with robson. I think gerrard and henderson will be a similar thing. The kid will learn loads from 1 of the best and most experienced midfielders around.Players like beckham were brought into uts setup from lower clubs and then loaned out to gain experience and the spine of the team has remained with spam being consistantly succsessful giving there experience they learned from the robsons mclairs hughs of the team like us with the gerrards carras kuyts seasoned players who can only instill the liverpool way into these promising kids a great mix of there raw talent and king kennys watchful eye will bring great succsess.Maybe not this season or next but soon and hopefully for a long time to come.......

This is my first post on here. As a long-term LFC supporter I must say that it's a bit annoying that people seem to think KK is dragging his heels or doesn't know what he's doing regarding transfers. The man is a legend both as a player and manager so pls show a little faith in what's happening. I'm sure come the first game in August KK will make sure the right team is out there with the right additions. Ed 001 made a very good point in that people have no idea what goes on with transfer negotiations and how it works. Pls can you enlighten people about this Ed001 so maybe they will stop moaning about stuff.

Liverpool interested in signing Jack Rodwell from Everton.

Meireles out Rodwell in depending we get a minimum offer of 22m for Meireles (juve ) Dalglish wants a English spine and Everton are willing to listen to the offer if we match the value of 28mil plus Konchesky.

Rodwell is happy to move to Liverpool as it will see his wages triple

source is a pundit who works on soccer saturday

And how would he or she know Liverpool's transfer policy exactly? Just because the y work on a tv show with football in it? If thats your reasoning then I used to read 'shoot' when i was a kid so does that make me 'ITK' as well??

catch 22 really. do we hold out until mid july and try sign the likes of mata etc... when there's a big chance we wont land them due to high demand from more attractive "champions league" teams? or do bite the bullet and sign EPL players we know we can get now?

any thoughts eds?

I posted here a few days ago, i mentioned Dimitri Payet as a signing that might happen , now today its been reported in the press, as i said in my last post , the Adam, Downing, dann and clichy deals are all looking like been drawn out saga, s for one reason or another, kk and DC wont allow themselves to be bogged down in any one deal , they will just move on to the next target , and try and have 2 or 3 good signings made for the start of pre season training, then kk and steve clark and the coaching staff will set to work with the squad and get them as ready for the start of the season, , just like it used to be, so dont expect Adam, downing, Dann to happen , , , expect , clichy, dimitri , lovren, wickham, and possibly downing , , he needs to hand in a transfer request to speed up this deal and for liverpool to be able to get him for a reasonable fee, , otherwise mcliesh will just say 20mill or no player ..have a sneaky feeling Sunderland , villa or newcastle are just goin to offer blackpool 13/14million to Adam ..with the hope blackpool snap it up ...

22 Jun 2011 17:15:41
Ed we are being linked with players with sub standard quality. We should be going after players that Utd Chelsea and City are going for. Do you think that once the international window opens we will sign some quality players. I know u don't know exactly who we will sign but will they atleast have some quality? There is a rumor that roux is coming he is unknown wouldn't you rather prefer ngog?

Are you joking, we have been linked with every player on the planet so how can we only be linked with sub standard quality

I am sure we where linked with Jones and Young same as Utd. Are they sub standard as I am sure we tried to sign both.?

Mr Benn, John Henry doesn't use his own personal weath to fund Liverpool FC or the Boston Red Sox.Thats why he's built this sporting arm of his buisness along with others who have invested like the Chairman Tom Werner and others to different degree's ala the New York Times owning about 10%of Liverpool Fc.As he's shown with the Red Sox he'll splash the cash if and when needed, just take a look at Carl Crawford's contract.He's a shrewd operator and we will spend more then what people think in my opinion.Commoli and K.k wont just fritter it away buying folk for the sake of it like City and Chelsea have both done to a certain degree.If Henderson was the only player K.K wanted which is obviously not the case he'd be the only player we bought.But he knows he's also paying players a lot of money t o sit on their asse like Joe Cole, and is not petty enough not to allow him to join Spurs, a rival.His marketing of the club will be priceless when the fair rules about spending what you earn come into play, something that City cant compete with because of our world wide fan base.I know its hard all this waiting but it will be worth it by the time the Window closes.And if you want a post of the day i think i've already got it mate.Go look at Jonny Boy at around 2.30am, you'll see that the people have spoken my friend unlike yours.No offence mate but this is a better post as well ha ha, i'll be waiting for your reply.Jonny Boy

All those people who keep saying they want Alaonso back should remember a few things, he had a good 1st season and brilliant last, but in between he was largely average. This is the reason why Rafa was willing to sell him, but guess what there was only Juve that came in for him at about 12 million . The last season he obviously was playing for a move as he played out of his skin. It begs the question why didnt he do that in the previous seasons. The term Form is temporary class is permanant was made for Xabi in those middle 3 seasons as that is what everyone kept saying(short memories .And dont tell me he didnt want to go to Real Madrid when they came knocking because that would just be bollox! I know most people will disagree but they will have to take the rose tinted glasses off. Xabi in his last season yes, but before that no thanks.

22 Jun 2011 16:55:07
Ed's, I have to say that I'm not excited about any of the players that are seriously being linked with us at all apart from Mata and maybe Nzogbia. The other names, Downing, Wickham, Nolan Roux, Payet and Henderson included are all very average and not World beaters. When I heard KK say that LFC will be going for players that will excite the fans, I certainly did'nt have these players at the top of my wish list.

I just hope that these names are just tabloid talk and nothing more otherwise I think we will end up missing out on CL football again.

Do you think it is likely that they're working behind the scenes to secure the big names like Hazard, Mata etc?

In the Know {Ed001's Note - or do you just think that it might be that you don't have a clue how good, bad or indifferent those players are? The club are not buying players to excite you, they are buying players to improve the team.}

Hi guys,

I heard today that Liverpool will not sign anyone else until the international window opens next Friday! This obviously means our new players are based abroad.
Also been told Liverpool are currently very busy trying to release and sell lots of players to free up our wage bill. This will determine exactly who we buy. First big name to go will be Ngog as he has been told he has no future at the club. West Brom, Bolton, Newcastle and Sunderland linked with him 5-7 million bid expected.

Hahahahahahahaha class this first big name to go ngog hahahahaha you Gota love that Paul mondo ngog is not a big name never will be funny this though made me proper laugh ( suarez's left ball )

Hey, everyone's getting a bit frustrated not hearing anything about transfers so I'll change the subject a bit:

Which player would you like the club to sign who very few people have so far mentioned?

Leave out the obvious (Messi, Iniesta, Chadwick etc).

Mine would be Robin van Persie. Think he'd be perfect

22 Jun 2011 15:58:07
Lets just wait and see what Kenny and DC come up with, I'm sure we will get some good players in, lets just relax and wait, theres still a long time left! We will probably sign 10 players at 23.59 on the 31st of August. We all know that kenny is king and he will have had a plan for a long time about who he wants, he wont just suddenly think, oh yer i fancy buying them now, lets stop making people up!

But most of all, we are all Liverpool fans and we all want the best so lets stop arguing with each other, and leave that for the united fans!

All these rumours and sighting i love it.It kind of gets you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.Reality if you like.But the one and only real fact is yes we will sign players some for the future and a couple of world class players as well(i have faith).When we reveal who they are it will all be at the last minute, if you blink you will probably miss them.The reason for this is to stop old whiskey nose trying to hijack or raise the fee off the player.Kenny has the making of ferguson and ferguson knows it.Ed, can i get your opinion on this ?(RD.RED) {Ed001's Note - I don't think it is anything to do with Fergie in particular, it is just about getting business done quickly and efficiently. Xabi Alonso is unlikely to feature for Manchester United Football Club next season.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a huge admirer of the Spanish midfielder, who proved his ability to cut it in the Premier League during a five year stint with rivals Liverpool.

The 29-year-old left Anfield for Real Madrid back in the summer of 2009, but reports in his homeland claim United are interested in taking him back to England.

Ferguson is desperate to find a replacement for playmaker Paul Scholes, who brought a close to his glittering career by announcing his retirement earlier this summer.

However, it is understood that Alonso would turn his back on a move to Old Trafford out of respect for his former club, who he remains a huge fan of.

Good man xabi!!

The notion of Alonso coming back to LFC is one for the fantastists and the dreamers on this site, which there are plenty.

There is nothing to be gained from either side by Alonso returning. Certainly the cold, hard business men deep inside Anfield will not even entertain such a big transfer outlay on a player reaching his 30's. Yes the policy is clear for all to see and yes i would agree that any policy has it's flexibilities but to pay upwards of £30M for a career lasting 2/3/4 years at most?

From Alonso's point of view, why would he return? There is a popular saying in football 'you don't go back' and whilst Dalglish has, for the time being, proved the exception rather than the rule, it is just that; an exception.

Alonso joined in 2004 and for the first two years was a great player and worthy of the hefty £10.7M that we paid out for him. However his form in the latter part of 2006 and into 2007 was quite frankly abysmal. He was part of the team humbled out by Barnsley in the FA Cup and during that game he was completely out played by their No.10 Brian..... arr can't think of his name. This lad worked harder off the ball, was better on it, with Alonso spraying passes into the Centenary Stand on a very regular basis. In fact the fans around me were all in agreement that he needed to be shipped out.

There were lengthy reports that Alonso was homesick and wanted to go home. His form did not improve going into the 2007/8 and I think it was during that summer transfer window when 'that talk' with Garry Barry rose its head.

Lo and behold Alonso reacted and gave us a masterclass lesson into the art of midfield passing for the whole of that season.

It is this particular season the fans are remembering. But you should ask yourself if Alonso comes back (the key word is 'if') will it be the Alonso of 2007/8 or the Alonso of 2008/9?

If it really needs 'that talk' to fire him up to produce those standards we should be asking the question why and what happened for the two years prior?

A class act indeed. But let's just leave it at that and let Xabi be known for what he did for 3 out of 5 years. I think that's respect enough and will ensure that when he returns he is still revered like a footballing God.

Both sides would be happy.

I love how some so called supporters on here dont trust our current manager and his staff on their transfer targets. We have now one of the worlds greatest players who is now our manager and can spot potential a mile off and get the best out of average players, not just present players but past ones also. Just look at people like Aldo, Venison, Houghton not exactly house hold names but a season or 2 at anfield and now they're part of our magnificent history. Lets not dwell on how big the transfer fee is or what there name is, its what they bring to the club as a whole and what kk and sc can get out of them for the good of our club. At the end of the day LFC is OUR club we are a unique fan base, of cousre we are all allowed our own opinion but lets look for the positives in these new signings welcome them into the LFC family and support the team and management as one. we have new exciting ambitious owners who want us to win and dont see us as a quick buck making operation like the 2 cowboys did. So with one voice lets sing our hearts out get right behind OUR club and get number 19 in the bag. YNWA

I have supported liverpool since i knew what the word football meant and i'm only 18 at the moment. Yet i have witnessed memorable times like the champions league victory in istanbul.
I'd like all the readers to look back at the team that won us that tournament and name me 3 'world-class' players on that squad list, there weren't any.
There was team that was willing to put every limb on the line for the cause, every missed oppurtunity was like a spear through thier chests. A team that was willing to work together, strive along with each other to win.
Liverpool is now in a much better position than it was then. We have new owners who are dedicated to success as we have seen with their other sport ventures.
Having said that, i dont really care if the players we bring in are deemed 'world-class' by the media, fans and any other out there trying to judge as long as Kine Kenny has vouched for them. This is a man who has won many a cups as a player and a manager, he knows what he's doing.
As long as the team work together, put thier body on the line and play every game as if it were a final, then i don't care if its s.downing or mata, roux or aguero and so on. That is the liverpool ethos that has won them what they have in the past, hopefully we will do it again in some effect this coming season.
Gerrard is more confident than ever, reina has pledged his allegience for atleast another season, henderson; who is a class act at the age of 21, suarez who showed glimpses last season of a top class player, carroll who hopefully mirrors his performances at newcastle or even better..
We are on the way up with no need of a parachute, we will be flying regardless. Get behind the team, the manager and success will follow.
Cheers

question for ed i heard that there could be a new uefa/fifa rule that the 18 man squad must have 9 homegrown players.
is this true if so when would it happen and how do we compare to other top teams with our number of homegrown players. im sure we have more then arsenal and chelsea but not sure about man utd {Ed002's Note - Any such rule is a long way off right now.}

Its funny how some new player is in contention and everybody turns into a scout or inside man.

Roux popped up today and everybody is his best mate.
You cant be looking at him for years cos french league is underrated and even high ups dont know much.
His youtube clips may be awesome but it could be taking from the only 3 matches he was good in, they are hardly goin to show the rest of the matches he was awful in.
Stop saying exaggerated fees agreed etc cos in the end you know as much as a brick wall prob as smart as one too.
then saying you personally know the player and know somebody who knows him and its true he is doing a medical tomorrow thats pathetic.

The Ed's work hard to find fact but have to wade through all this nonsense aswell, the less lies they have to get through the more genuine answers and new info we will get back in return.

We all want the best for LFC and want class players but lads calm down you are like school girls seeing Justin Bieber.

The deal of Charlie Adam would have been done and dusted by now, the stumbling block is not the fee, but the availability of Xabi Alonso. the clubs hiearachy are dismissing this, we have agreed with Aston Villa that we will back off Charlie Adam if they willing to do business with Downing.

------------------------

where are you getting this info from? or are you just lying?

We wont be signing Alonso he doesn't fit into the current club criteria for signing players....too old.

Sooty

---------------------

I don't understand why people are so obsessed with the young player policy, look at Alexander Doni who we were strongly linked with. How old was he? I'm not saying Alonso is coming because I'm 99% sure he's not. All I'm saying is, we will be linked with a wide age-range of players who can improve the team, not just have a resell value.

22 Jun 2011 13:12:50
hate it when some people say "to old doesnt fit the critaria"!i would rather we spent £40m on alonso than £40m on young talent that will take 4-5 years to even fill alonso's boots.dont forget ther is no patience in football today. if ur good enough ur young enough.(i no £40m is to much)

kp

22 Jun 2011 13:10:22
Ed am I right in saying this.

To all the people who blatantly need stronger anti depressants the reason Kenny is favouring young English talent at the moment is the fact that while he hasnt been a manager he has worked tirelessly with the reserves and academy players within Liverpool so would have seen ALOT of the upcoming talent within the leagues in other teams.This is why he is confident of paying the money for the likes of Carroll and Henderson and maybe Wickham.He didnt just forget about football and become a tv host no he worked with the youngsters.
Its the same with Benitez he bought up all the talent from spain as this is where he was most experienced.
I for one dont have a problem with any of our supposed targets I would actually be happier to have some of them rather than the big name gambles everyone seems to crave at the moment.I cant wait to see our new signings play for Liverpool and anyone who says Henderson was a waste of money because of the england games as I have stated before is a joke he was played in a more holding role than he likes and we all know Kenny likes to play players where they like to be played and where they feel most comfortable.
Grow up people just because on your fifa game you can trade people for peanuts after winning every game because you play it on easy and they want to come to you doesnt mean it translates into real life.
Ed I have an idea for this site and have been an avid reader for like two and a half years now and have never seen this level of moaning.Can we have a positive forum and a downright depressing one please.

RED WILL {Ed001's Note - nice idea, doubt if it will work though.}

Hi Eds,
Just wondering what ye think of the following:
If Alonso was to join next summer, not this one, do you think he could have the similar inspirational effect that Gary McAllister had when he joined. I know the emphasis is on signing youth, but think what younger players could learn off having Gerrard and Xabi playing with them.
I just think some people are too quick to go, he's too old, doesn't fit into plan and all that, I agree to a certain point but I try to see things from both points of view

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - yes I do, I think he would be a fantastic signing.}

22 Jun 2011 12:58:15
Joe Coles wages are a sticking point as to his transfer out of LFC, its not the price other clubs would have to pay to buy him, or his use in a swap deal for an other player or a loan out deal with a 50 50 wage spilt as an option, he will still be a Liverpool player next season unless these options can be resolved.

22 Jun 2011 12:57:48
Can people stick to rumours and refrain from making up lies, and more importantly stop pretending to be someone 'in the know'. Alonso was in Liverpool like he is about 10 times a year; just because its pre-season, it doesnt mean there was anything in it.

22 Jun 2011 12:57:29
Eds - What do you think about the growing alonso rumours - real madrid have recently signed people to fill his place and he has recently come available - surely if he is to return it would be now before he became too old ? Alonso has recently met with kenny - whether or not any potential transfer was discussed is unlikely but still Alonso is available - he loves liverpool - we would be a better side substantially with him in it - do you think he could return in light of the lack of need for him at madrid ? {Ed001's Note - I find it very unlikely, unless they were willing to release him cheaply.}

22 Jun 2011 12:53:15
I like the picture of downing I could be wrong but it looks like he has two left hands if so he would make a great back up keeper.

22 Jun 2011 12:31:02
I am not saying that we will definately re-sign Xabi Alonso, but do not dismiss this because of the new transfer criteria. Kenny Dalglish is this boss and is the one making decisions. Alonso would be the perfect signing to partner Gerrard in midfield for a couple of seasons, as well as teaching Shelvey how to control his long range game. FSG are not stupid they know they will have to add experience in certain departments, so they will occasionally break the policy.

Agreed he doesn't fit into the criteria, but that doesn't mean there won't be exceptions...

Alonso has probably got at least 4 years left in him at the top level. He's the best at what he does. He's an inspiration to other players; the new younger players coming through. Who better for the likes of Henderson to learn from? He's also an inspiration to the fans.

Not by any means saying that Alonso will sign this year or next but I wouldn't rule it out because of his age.

I think that if Barcelona miss out on Sanchez, Rossi and not Mata will be their top target.They've been linked with him for a while and would fit perfectly into their system.I think that people are thinking Mata who is a class player but doubt he'd play every week at Barcelona are he getting a bit too paranoid any time a deal breaks down its their gonna take Mata.Chill and if we get him what a coup, if we dont, Liverpool will continue to function with or without Juan Mata.Jonny Boy

Sooty
---------------------------------------
I believe there is an exception to this policy, as Alonso is still a good player despite approaching 30, and can add experience and his great passing to the team. If he was available, would you rather he ended up at Manchester Utd or Man City or even Chelsea? Would you not rather see him back at Liverpool, where he would slot into the team nicely, and where he is still popular with fans. God only knows that we are crying out for someone like him with his passing ability, and would allow the likes of Gerrard and Lucas to get forward. We are still in the hunt for a defensive midfielder. I'm not saying he will come back, but if he was available I'm sure that KK and DC will see the invaluable experience he will bring to the team.

Brest's 23 yr old Nolan Roux will arrive in Liverpool this weekend for medical/personal terms. £6.5m move to LFC already agreed.

How would this be possible if the transfer window around Europe doesn't open till the following weekend??

We all want Xabi Alonso back, lets not start saying he is coming back, because we all know he wants the la liga title! The only way he will come back this year is through heavy persuasion and a lot of money!

ed wondering if you know anything of young Gotze from Borrusia Dortmund he is younger than Wilshere and from what i have seen as good if not better; plays slightly further up and one for the future, I think I read somewhere that they rejected lots of offers from Barca and Inter. Do you have any further information about him; not just LFC interest but general interest as I hope that if we don't sign him this year maybe in a few years time we will.

Thanks.

I understand Sunderland have made an £8mil bid for Connor Wickham, although this is believed to simply be to encourage Liverpool to let Ngog sign for the black cats, with a gentlemens agreement involved so that Wickham will not also be signing, enhancing rumours that he will be on his way to Merseyside should we match Sunderlands bid.

All the people on this site complaining about the pace of the transfer window you a disgrace. You go on about the signings like cole, jovanovic, poulsen, n'gog as if kenny dalglish signed them and its his fault.Real supporters know who signed them.Its a new era at liverpool and if you don't like it set up your own club like the scum and see how far you get.If you people were in charge of justice in this country your policy would be guilty until proven innocent.Ed it most be soul destroying listening to all this negativity ? {Ed001's Note - very much so mate, I have to take a deep breath and calm myself before editing!}

bored of lack of activity from melwood. not bothered if adam or downing dont join but we need quality signing not quantity signings. suarez and carroll were great and i think we need 4 more of this calibre. we dont need kids or potential or the new zidane reputation like cheyrou but proven quality players. alonso, cavani, mertesacher, hazard and mata are meet the requirements at top top level. in the king we trust. Nobody guessed the capture of suarez so i hope he has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. but we need quality not quantity... are downing, roux, dann really quality? there is enough potential in the reserves and youths such as suso, sterling, flanagan and wisdom

I love the site and Ive had an idea that I wanted to suggest for the site.

Why not have a section that is linked to you tube to show footage of any players that we are interested in. If you had a section that had links to you tube, people would come on here more knowing that all the football links for certain players being discussed could also be viewed on the one site. This would be fantastic and I sure your advertisers would love it too! ( more money for the Eds and more fun for us!!)

I appreciate that you may have to get one of your 'techy' people to sort it but I think it would be a massive improvement to the site. If things are not happening for a while on the site, we could always glance through the video links of the payers ( ps it doesnt need to go via you tube, just a suggestion )

On the current Walcott rumours. I have posted before about my info from an Italian journalist who has contacts within the Arsenal set up. He told me about our interest in Theo a while back - but it went a bit quiet, so it's interesting to hear some more talk from other areas.

The same guy told me that Rafa tried to get Walcott on loan a couple of seasons ago. Can the Eds shed any light on this loan attempt please? Any truth in it that you know? It may help verify OR put this to bed... ;)

Question for the ed's and general populous.

With the ever increasing years that we all unfortunately succumb to, how many seasons do we realistically expect captain fantastic to carry on being at his best?

And knowing that a replacement needs to be found relatively soon, is Henderson supposed to be it? If not who do you think we should be trying to get in from around the globe to replace him for the long term if you had just 1 wish that is??

FatJanMolby {Ed001's Note - a year out of Europe will help extend his career in my opinion. There won't be as many games to stress the squad in general and he is at the age he needs to think more carefully about resting etc. I still think he has at least 3 years left at the very top myself. My choice of replacement would be Javi Martinez.}

Though the transfer market looks to be bogged down, the reality is that as we get closer to the end of the month the big transfers will begin to gather pace. Here is some news from today's Spanish press on players previously linked with us.

1. Bojan - Is being sold to Roma for an initial fee of 10m. Whilst this is relatively cheap, Barca have insisted on a 2 year option to buy him back at a cost of between 12m and 20m. Would we really want to buy a player who if he is successful we are then open to Barca buying him back . I doubt that's the way our club and Kenny would want to operate.
2. Jeffren - Has also been valued at 10m. He was to be used as a makeweight in the A Sanchez transfer to Barca who bid 28m plus Jeffren plus 5m based on appearances. Jeffren has declined Udinese's offer. Barca are now in danger of losing this deal as Arab City have made a cash offer of 40m for a Sanchez.
3. Mata If Barca fail with the A Sanchez transfer they may turn to Mata.
4. Aguero Real Madrid have today tied up a deal for Neymar. This means Aguero wont be joining them unless one of their existing strikers is sold. Real Madrid now
5. Benzema- With the addition of Neymar Real Madrid now have a full complement of strikers. If they want Llorente or Aguero they are likely to offload either Higuain or Benzema. If they stay as they are Llorente will be available to be snapped up by a premiership team.

By this time next week we may have a clearer picture of the should get very interesting. Gerrard, Reina and one or two other payers have already commented that they are expecting big positive changes. I have 100% faith in KK. The wait is killing me, though its nothing compared to the anxiety caused by H & G during the takeover process. Reality Red

Just had a look at the LFC website and there's a story about Barton saying that Gerrard is the best player of his generation. So queue the Barton to Liverpool rumours, isn't that how its works? A player talks about us and then all of a sudden he's signing tomorrow.

Also the Mata rumour reminds me me of the Torres one before he signed for us, however I feel if Mata does come it will be an even bigger signing and a huge statement of intent.

good morning folks, just wanna shed some light on some of the posts, any transfer's from teams outside the uk will rely on transfer's out of lfc ie. meireles cole etc. not solely but priority
from what i can gather the main interest of the management and owners is to tie up players based in england first, but fear not as there is quite a bit of movement within europe regarding players have faith all will be good, also i believe adam could be due on merseyside before the weekend. maybe later today!

Martin skrtel recently said that prior to coming to liverpool he had no idea who kenny dalglish is. This is the main reason that we will target english players, they know who he is and what kind of manager he is. Its not coincidence that if you have a spanish manager you sign spanish players, french manager, french players and british manager british players.

We can't attract european players as easily because they are unaware of who dalglish is yet since all his european achievememts were as a player a long time ago, and he didn't exactly set the europa league on fire.

Give him a season or 2 to re-establish his stock in europe as a manager and many players will come

Eds, any truth in these Nolan Roux stories? Guy only scored six goals all last season and at 23 it's not as though he's got loads of time to develop. Seems a strange one. i know that Bojan is probably off to Roma because of Enrique but did we actively pursue him? Not getting disheartened as I know we have weeks still to go but would love to see some firm developments soon. Problem with late signings is lack of a proper pre-season with new team mates. Always takes time to get going properly and we need to hit the ground running.
Heard that our Hazard interest has gone, even though he's been reported as fancying a move but that we have shown interest in Payet. Any news on this ?
Bear {Ed001's Note - why all the talk about Bojan? Has anyone actually watched him the last few years? He burst on the scene and looked a great prospect and has never built on it. He would run a mile from a physical challenge and is not someone, in my opinion, suited to the Prem. As for Roux, I am very dubious, just because the rumours seem to be emanating initially from some FM forums where he is apparently a great player to buy for the future. Doesn't mean it is not true though, FM is very much based on the same analytical software that is being used to analyse players by DC.}

Little bit of topic but could you enlighten me as to how the Blackpool fans feel about Oyston? He's repeatedly lied to his players and manager and acts like a spoilt child. We had owners like that not so long ago! Cheers ed great site absolutely love it!!! {Ed009's Note - They probably respect him for not giving in and letting their best player go for less than they feel is fair. will you all stop saying we need this player or that player and they will sign this week or next week, its all crap. just wait and see who KK will sign, then you decide if we get the CL spot and win the LEAGUE. lets wait and see.

we need center back, left back, no more mids we got j henderson now, 2 wingers and a striker...

22 Jun 2011 09:49:38
Why Juan Mata, even if LFC pay 20-22M is worth it?
1) Main position is left-winger.
2) Can also play as striker, attack. midfield, right winger..

Buying him is like LFC already covering 3 position in 1 player.

Why don't we just sell Gerrard, Suarex and Reina, preferably to our biggest rivals; sign Championship players and use the money to rebuild after we're relegated next season? We might as well given how bad next season's apparently going to be with players like Henderson (who's rubbish) and Adam, Downing etc., if they sign. Everyone 'knows' they're not good enough for Liverpool.

According to 'experts', Kenny and Comolli don't know what they're doing. Therefore, Henry should sell up if he's backing them to spend milliions on second-rate players, as he doesn't know what he's doing either: that's the obvious conclusion to make when taking on board the thoughts of people on here who have far greater football knowledge than the rest of us (including Kenny and all at the club involved with transfers and the future of the team).

Mr Benn

22 Jun 2011 09:45:18
Ed009? "but I can't really envisage the club having genuine interest in a player who doesn't even set the world alight"...so why then are we after Dann, Downing, Nzogbia...and why then did we ever buy jovanovic, ngog, voronin, gonzalez etc...come on Ed, LFC do not have a great record in the transfer market, so of course we would be interested in players who haven't set the world alight. Dont forget we cannot offer CL football so we cannot be picky. We'll continue to go for average players. I'd be massively suprised if Mata joins. Other than that I dont expect us to sign any fanastic players. We just dont have the pulling power v top 4.

Liverpool are weighing up a bid for Saint-Etienne star Dimitri Payet, but will not pay the French club's £11 million asking price.

Damien Comolli, the Reds' director of football, is a huge admirer of the winger having worked with him at Saint-Etienne before leaving for Liverpool last November.

Payet, 24, is the subject of interest from Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain as well as French champions Lille, who are looking to replace Arsenal-bound Gervinho.

The France international is aware of interest from Liverpool and Goal.com understands he has been told that the Reds could be ready to enter the bidding as manager Kenny Dalglish looks to add some wide men to his squad.

Dalglish wants at least two wingers and is hoping to clinch the signing of £15m-rated Aston Villa star Stewart Downing.

But he is targeting at least one more wide player in the summer transfer window, having already missed out on Ashley Young and seen a move for Sylvain Marveaux fall through, amidst suggestions he failed a medical.

Comolli would be willing to pay around £6m for Payet, who scored 13 goals in 33 appearances last season and has been capped three times for the France national team.

Payet, who is under contract until 2013, is believed to favour a move to Anfield but Saint-Etienne will have to lower their expectations over the transfer value.

The French club's president, Roland Romeyer, revealed earlier this month that he had been in touch with English sides but insisted he would not let his star player leave on the cheap.

There have also been calls from England, said Romeyer. But there is no question of letting Dimitri leave at any price.

Another problem for Liverpool is the bad blood felt by Saint-Etienne after former Tottenham director Comolli criticised the working environment at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Romeyer has said he felt betrayed by Comolli after he quit the club and accused him of squandering money on signings.

PSG's interest in Payet is becoming increasingly apparent, with reports suggesting the capital club have offered 8m (£7m) plus Jeremy Clement for the playmaker.

Meanwhile, reports in France have suggested Liverpool are ready to meet the £7.1m release clause to sign Brest striker Nolan Roux.

The 23-year-old has scored 21 goals in 53 league games for his club and would replace fellow Frenchman David Ngog at Anfield.

..........................

i think we need to bid at least over PSG to get this brilliant winger.

I hope kenny doesn't waste more time in bringing Wickham to Anfield. As it seems that Sunderland are trying hard to sign him. I'd be gutted if we miss on a liverpool fan with lots of potential of becoming great for a man who is 23 now and is not even better than Ngog. Ngog is much better than nolan roux... YNWA
Please Kenny bring Mata for us, too.

This is the stagnent period of the transfer window, lots of players are still on holiday, some are waiting for the european transfer window to open, so most clubs are dealing or talking to agents and advisers, which is in itself is time consuming to say the least, so over the next 4 to 5 weeks the deals should start to materialize, so be patient calm down and stop worrying.

is everyone else as worried as i am?? every world class player seems to be lined up to every other club besides us.the young british talent....to be honest, there not going to get us anywhere near the top four cos there so over rated.man u , chelsea, man clty and arsenal the big players want to go too.second half of the season was good to see but we did average less than 2 points a game which will never get us to were we want.i hope after 1st july things might be different cos the likes of downing, wickham, dann, enrique, n, zogbia, boothroyd ffs and so on are a joke.technically these players are no where near those who play abraod.like every other liverpool fan i want to see progress sooner rather than later but honestly, i just don't see it!!

mini scouse
------------------------------------------------------------------

The likes of Suarez and Torres also courted the interest of these clubs didn't they? but we signed them because we still have the capability to attract these kind of players because of our tradition, history and our name. Reserve your judgement until the end of the transfer window will ya. Have faith in the management, Kenny knows more about football than all of us put together here, trust his judgement...

This 'british footballers are crap' really annoys me, the reason we haven't seen a decent English team in a while is because what few good British players make it through are lucky to have more than 3-4 english team mates, then 9 times out of ten at least half the senior English team is 'unavailable' for friendlys, meaning they never get the chance to gel, in a league packed full of foreign talent and foreign managers fair play to kk for going against the grain and signing young British talent! I may eat my words in a couple weeks if we sign a load from overseas!

connor wickham, , , why do liverpool want connor wickham, hes played 72 games and scored only 15, he scored only 9 last season out of 41 games thats not good at all. {Ed009's Note - perhaps because of his raw potential. At 18 he isn't yet the finished product and with the right coaching could produce a lot more goals a season than that. Consider that N'gog's record is worse at the age of 22 and a better picture is produced.}

22 Jun 2011 04:33:23
{Ed001's Note - I don't see why Mata would find us an unattractive proposition? He wants to play regular football, we can offer him that, we can pay good wages, he would have a friend already at the club in Pepe and we are clearly on the move.}

This so called Goal.com idiots saying Man City & Chelsea has got a better chance than us, pure crap of course if Mata wants money and Champions league football he can join City, but he and his dad wants guaranteed first team football something we can offer him week and week out! As far as i know Chelsea has no interest in Mata now.
So goal.com experts have very little inside knowledge they talk looking at outside facts!

Ed1, Soz to post again so soon but to the guy who said Adam and Downing aren't good enough dont watch or know enough about football, Downing constantly being labeled as someone who lacks pace and is a one trick pony are full of s**te.He's not rapid ala Walcott but his pace is lot quicker then what most people seem to think.And with Adam he's only done it for one season, big fish in a small pond and all that crud.I think if Adam came from Spain his name was Alvero Martinez people would be saying he's got a left peg like Rivaldo, have you seen his free kicks, better then Roberto Carlos, but he's Scottish who plays for Blackpool and his name is Charlie so he must be s**te.Same with Downing, he wants to change his name to Giovani Zenga, the Italian speedster who can cross with either foot.We must buy him.But its plain old Stuart Downing.Just an ave Prem winger.I think peoples perceptions get muddled because they aren't exotic enough.I'd sign em both in a heart beat. PS Pull your head out of your asse just for a second Oyston you f***in donkey lasher and get with the programme. Jonny Boy

is everyone else as worried as i am?? every world class player seems to be lined up to every other club besides us.the young british talent....to be honest, there not going to get us anywhere near the top four cos there so over rated.man u , chelsea, man clty and arsenal the big players want to go too.second half of the season was good to see but we did average less than 2 points a game which will never get us to were we want.i hope after 1st july things might be different cos the likes of downing, wickham, dann, enrique, n, zogbia, boothroyd ffs and so on are a joke.technically these players are no where near those who play abraod.like every other liverpool fan i want to see progress sooner rather than later but honestly, i just don't see it!!

PLEASE DO NOT SIGN Charlie Adam or Stewart Downing, they are simply not good enough and we already have better players in the team!

Mata would be a great signing, but we probably dont seem very attractive to him right now.

Eds who are the best option right now? {Ed001's Note - I don't see why Mata would find us an unattractive proposition? He wants to play regular football, we can offer him that, we can pay good wages, he would have a friend already at the club in Pepe and we are clearly on the move.}

22 Jun 2011 01:47:23
Ed1, Re Charlie Adam's long tiresome drawn out saga.I'd love him to sign but do you or anybody else remember Ian Holloway during January's window.In every interview re Adam he said he trusts me, he knows i've got his best interests at heart, he knows i'll do the right thing by him, he's a top lad and he trusts me.He said words to that effect in every interview during the transfer speculation then.Wonder how much he trusts him now.Played his heart out to try and keep them up and they f*** with peoples lives.I bet Charlie doesn't trust him anymore.What la complete bulls**tter.Hopefully he'll come to us, but if not he defo deserves to be playing prem football next season.He even scored in the playoff final to get B.pool to the Prem.I really do feel sorry for Charlie.Jonny Boy {Ed001's Note - me too, he was lied to repeatedly, as was Holloway, they were both promised he would be allowed to leave in January. Oyston promised to sell in the summer when January ended with him there and yet he is blocking a move. I understand him wanting the best price, but when you set a price and it is matched you need to accept it!!}

I would love nothing more than Xabi Alonso back at Liverpool, but realistically why would he come back right now, he wants to win la liga with madrid. As for reports of him going to Manchester United, I believe he has to much respect for Liverpool fans and if he was to return to England in the future, it would only be to Liverpool. Lets hope he wins la liga next year!

As for realistic signings this year, I cant understand why we want Charlie Adam, I have watched him quite a bit this year and do not rate him that much, yes he has a good pass on him and free kicks but he gives the ball away too much and is not good enough for a team wanting CL football back. This is the same with Stewart Downing, he simply isn't good enough.

I hope that some big players are attracted to LFC and the great fans, stadium and of course king kenny, although we dont have CL football next year, we must be able to get some big signings!

Ed is there any realistic big money signings you can see happening over the summer? {Ed001's Note - isn't Henderson a big money signing? I do expect more, I wouldn't like to even try and guess right now though, not when even a nailed on signing like Marveaux falls through!}

{Ed002's Note - I am not in a position to check as I am on the road, but I recall Bordeaux, Lille and Schalke enquiring. Personally, he has passed me by and I cannot even picture him in my mind playing.}
dont then rate the chances of him signing please!
because it is pointless and you make yourself out to be just plain daft!!! love the fun people have here but come on dont rise to such ridiculous questions!!! this wont get published but at least u have read it

Has anybody else noticed that at 01.07 this morning the JJB sports advertisement at the top of the rumours page was advertising the new man utd shirt!

Dont think there will be many takers for that old dishrag on this page!

Still gave me a chuckle tho. {Ed001's Note - is that what the United ad is people were mentioning? No wonder JJB is in financial trouble if they can't even get a simple thing like contextual advertising right!}

Hi Ed's, fellow reds,

With all the transfer activity goin on around the club i was wondering with the likelihood that Adam will probably be signed (when oysten decides to stop playing hardball) this leaves us with Henderson, Adam, stevie, Lucas, and spearing who will all be contenders to start and I think along with Gerrard being a definite I think Lucas will be too so where does that leave 2 of the other three? Obviously one will play as I think three in midfield will be deployed more often than not, but I like the idea of, for example Henderson and spearing on the bench as I think a strong bench is something we've lacked in recent times. On that note does this leave the door open for Meireles? I liked the lad when played behind the striker but with Suarez and Stevie I think we should get what we can this summer. I think spearing will be sent out on loan maybe to Swansea, norwich or QPR, and as for poulsen well I think we all agree on that one.

Something else i feel strongly on is Glen Johnson, I really don't think he is good enough defensively and cost us a lot of goals last season and with Kelly hopefully returning i would see what we could get for Glen johnson and maybe bring through one of the young lads, but that's obviously just my opinion.

As for rumours i see downings name been mentioned a lot and with 20m being quoted I think that would be terrible business, but an out an out winger to supply the ammo for the big man is what we need so i could be wrong on that one. As for Mata, i would love to see KK and DC make him a red, this would send out a message to the premier league and just think of Suarez and Mata's movement would leave defenders cross eyed.

I think if we was to buy youth wickham and oxlade-chamberlain (spelling) would be brilliant along with spearing, shelvey, sterling etc we would have a solid future and they are all English.

Ed do you think the names iv mentioned are far from the Mark? I don't have sources I'm just working with what iv read on the site, which i do read everyday it's brilliant

JD {Ed001's Note - I am a bit surprised you want rid of Johnson, the only reason I can see to sell him is if he is not willing to sign an extended contract. He showed so much improvement under Dalglish and Clark, he showed that he is a very capable defender who just needed a decent coach.}

Apparently, whilst gerrard was away on his charity trip in portugal he and his fellow 'golfers' were at a certain venue and lionel messi was spotted at the bar, i am not saying anything substantial but given messi's 'supposed interview' post champs league final it seems he and a couple of the liverpool players have struck up a good relationship, make of it what you will

Messi doesn't even speak english!!! Maybe he has his translator along with him so he can have a chat to Stevie G and the lads haha

Aguero to Juventus, for only 20 million, reported by Italian reporter on talksport {Ed009's Note - oh if TalkSh**e says it...}

Pardon me ed009 for posting a rumour I heard, at least I named the source {Ed002's Note - The offer from Juventus I am to is 35.5M euros. A lot more than £20M.}
___________________________________________________________________________________

35.5million euroes is £31, 353, 422.50 far from £20million that the original poster said.

22 million plus an unknown player, guess I wasn't too far from the Mark after all.
TobyC, and the source is still talksport. {Ed001's Note - 22m and a player valued at 10m is quite a way from 20m....}

even if this was true, i can only see it being atletico accepting a bid and now aguero to accept, which i doubt he will i think he will wait to see wo else bids later in window

Benayoun could retern back to liverpool as he doesnt get a game at chelsea and KK sed expect a old dace back at the club
----------------------------------------
he played a lot at the start of the season, had a lengthy injury lay off, and then got a standard amount of game time coming back from his injury. If he was coming back i seriously doubt it would be because of a lack of game time. I'd love him back if he could show the same form he did when he was here first time round.

Is it true the old face back at Anfield is gonna be God! robbie in a coaching role Ed? Sammy taking a role at Melwood, any truth have you heard? {Ed001's Note - I believe there is some truth in it, I am not sure how practical it is though, does he have all his badges? I have lost track of God since he left the UK.}

I wish L, pool would move quicker with there targets, it seems to be dragging abit. Has anyone else noticed that ever since we signed Henderson from under the noses of Man U, they quickly signed Phil Jones knowing we wanted him, and also another of our targets in Ashley Young. And surprise surprise they are linked with Charlie Adam. Think Fergie will do it to spite us, just think we need to get them in soon before Chelsea, Spurs, and Man City start doin there buisness too, does anyone agree? ED? {Ed001's Note - nope, if a player wants to join us he will regardless of other interest. I would rather we signed players that actually choose to join us.}

22 Jun 2011 00:19:20
Ed, in my opinion Martin Kelly should be first choice rb next season.He can defend and is excellent going forward.Now we are in the market for a lb and hopefully we fill it with quality.Then we are allegedly in the hunt for mata, downing, adam, payet, etc.So this leaves the question where doe's glen johnson fit in.I say sell him and he will be another big earner of the wage bill and he will get us a sizeable transfer fee.This money could go on other positions that need to be filled.RD.RED)

-----------------------------------------------------

Or as many Liverpool fans might agree....try him on the wing? He's excellent going forward he just cant defend, with the squad rule, getting rid of one of our best english players is a bad idea.

Oh that's right, keep forgetting about that new rule that UEFA passed. I still can't believe they passed a law saying if you miss the champions league then you're never allowed in it again, i mean surely this is just favouring the bigger teams isn't it?

I would go in for scott sinclair before his prices go sky high like caroll.. when he has a couple of good games in premiership

dont think we should go mad either a left back and center back Baines & Cahill my 1st choice, Charlie Adam, couple of wingers Downing Mata(i think thats a longshot) backup foward sturridge or that shaqiri swiss un21 he looks a class act

get rid of NGOG, POULSEN, KONCHESKEY, JONAVIC, JOE COLE, AGGERDO would have sed kyiarkos but his got new contract, AQULLANI IF WE GET ADAM BUT MAYBE HE COULD COME GOOD,

If Raul still wants out and Villareal are snooping around as has been reported, then i think we could do worse than any one of Borja Valero, Bruno Soriano or Santi Cazorla, they are all actually better than Raul in their own right, but only if Raul wants to leave.

(0) (3)

Did Villarreal sign Valero, or his he on loan from WBA? Having watched La Liga on Sky this year, Valero was in great form this year.
You then have to question why it didn't work out for him in England, and why WBA were keen to sell/loan him out.
RedSG

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My mistake, he was SUPPOSED to sign with Villareal at the beginning of last season but WBA buggered Villa around and the deal was cancelled for a season long loan with the player to sign on afterwards, so he's probably in the process of signing on permanently with Villareal now, as i said, my mistake i thought he had signed last year, defo won't be leaving now then.

We should have went for bojan while we had the chance. 10 million is a steal for him !!!

I know which i would prefer

Cant work Oyston out. Sell Adam, buy at least two new players and have change. what did they buy him for. 500,000.I can see blackpool fans not wanting Adam to go, But surely they can understand he wants the move, And it would be great revenue for their club. {Ed001's Note - because 30% goes to Belekon, 15% + the original 500k (which they have only paid interest on not the actual amount) to Rangers, 5% to Adam, 5% to Holloway. That only leaves 45% to buy a replacement and any replacement will expect a much higher wage than Adam's 4k a week.}

does anyone really beleive alexandre pato will come to us without champion league football i konw we were trying to 2 him in 2007 what your opinion ed? {Ed001's Note - I think there is more chance of us getting Nani.}

21 Jun 2011 23:57:22
i know this may not go down to well but there is one player who fits the bill, young with pl experiance and he can play. why don't we have a punt for Nani, united are thinking of selling him.

i wish people will stop moaning about how much we are spending on players.for me city and chelsea can spend what they like on players wages etc but where are there academy players coming through.lfc have so many pospects and therefore will not have to spend in the future whereas chelsea and city will continue to buy.how much will suso, sterling, wisdom, coady, flanagan, robinson cost in say 3 years time 5 of which are english.we have a whole team who in the future will play in the 1st team saving us millions and if they wish to move on make us millions.all the players we sign are who kenny wants to fit his style of play and who want to play for us, consistent and injury free.lets hope we are suprised by the signings and its only 7days till the international window opens so fingers crossed.DORSET RED

Good point! We could either flog him or maybe even put him on the wing as he aint to bad bad goin forward?

Phlipper {Ed001's Note - he needs to sign a new contract or be sold this summer in my opinion. I would prefer the first option, he has shown a good attitude of late and a lot of maturity to his play on the left.}

Not a transfer rumour or anything but just stating a fact and would like to see fellow posters thoughts on walcott..... these walcott rumours although they may be fantasy, i myself would love to see this fella at our club, as he was a red fan as a youngster and was once quoted saying

"When Liverpool won the Champions League, I went mad. I was shouting so loud I think I woke up the entire village!"

These are the players we want, players that will love the club and fight for trophies for LFC

I think based on rumors we can see what the club is trying to do this summer. Where there is smoke there is fire and whereas we don't know the exact players we will end up with, I think we know the positions and types of players that are being targeted.

1-Leftback-We obviously need a leftback. Its out #1 concern in the starting 11. We've been linked with Gael Clichy, Emiliano Izaguirre, Jose Enrique. This is a must sign and I think its safe to say we will end up with a quality, starting caliber leftback.

2-Central Defender-We want someone who can come in and start right away but is also young. We missed out on Phil Jones but are still linked to Scott Dann, Cristian Zapata, Gary Cahill, Dejan Lovren. I don't know who we will get or if it will even be one of these players. However I do believe we will get a young (25 or under) defender who can be a long term starter for us.

3-Central Midfielder-We already have Henderson but its obvious we want another one. We've pursued Charlie Adam but that seems to be less and less likely. We are also linked with Ki Sung-Yeung and possibly Niko Krancjar. Its obvious we want another young, creative midfielder. Again, I don't know who we will get but its obvious we are going for this kind of player.

4-Winger-This is obvious. Like we need a fullback, we need a winger who can give us width. Preferably one who can play on either side. We missed out on Young but have been linked with N'Zogbia and Downing (among others). Like I said before this is the kind of player we are going for to fill this role. Not a star but a good, solid player who can fill this role.

5-A young striker-We seem to be looking for a young striker who can be a backup to Carroll and Suarez and hopefully develop into a star down the line. We've been linked with Connor Wickham and today I read Nolan Roux.

6-Possibly a star level attacker-We've been linked with Mata and tons of other guys (some more believable than others). However I do think that we could very well sign a big name versatile attacking player who can play on the wing, in the hole or up front. No idea who it will be, but I think our ownership group will want to get someone like this.

I think thats what we are looking at. Hopefully six more players who fit into those molds.
