I was told last month and posted up about gerrard that he will never play again for Liverpool because of his injury and it was from a Leeds supporter who knows gerrard and his mates, I didnt want to believe him but all this now I think he is right, ed wot do you know about him

22 Jul 2011 23:10:55
Fair enough, i did go over board and i apologise for using that term over Aqualani to the fans and the Editors. But i do belive he should either stay, or leave for good. Someone mentioned if he wants to leave so bad why not take a wage cut, i think he does not want to be in England, one minute his agent says he's staying then were talking to Fiorentina about selling or loaning him. He's still 3 years left on his contract and since his two games in the far east against teams competive at best and he's the greatest thing sinced sliced bread. I was out of order for using a derogatory term against him in hindsight it was childish and immature, no excuses completely out of order. Sorry Eds and fellow reds. Hope you can forgive this transgression because its easy to say sorry but i do mean it, pretty much disgusted with myself right now. Jonson6

Hi Ed, do u know what the situation is with all the leftbacks were being linked with and who seems if any the most likely and what is the situation with gerrard all these rumours are slightly worrying {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new on the left back situation. Refer to earlier discussion about Gerrard.}

22 Jul 2011 22:40:06
hi eds. in all fairness what do you really have on a.johnson joining us. me personaly think he is a liverbird in the making. would bring a new dimension to us on that right wing score goals and create goals for the lads up front. hope we sign him wud be loved by the fans and have a load of trophies with us keep up the gud work brothers YNWA

Ok just a question....
Who is good enough in world football to replace Stephen
Gerrard ? Seriously Who ? Ive been wrecking my head to come up with a name but I have to admit im at a loss.. Thats the best back handed compliment ive ever handed out to anyone.. Ok lets start the search now in gonna throw the name Sweinsteiger into the ring...any ideas ?

22 Jul 2011 22:46:43
With reference to Steven gerrards on going groin problem, Steven is unhappy with the treatment he's receiving and is trying to get doctor waller back to the club. Doc waller has recently been released by villa.

what do you guys make on our commercial director? will he still be the sports marketing director of nike UK and Ireland?

22 Jul 2011 21:55:51
eds, please post this one, why do you never post my opinions?

here is the comment i want to input:

the press twisted suarezs words he sed he would of played for barca if they come for him before he signed for us, That is the truth of it, No suarez to barca full stop. {Ed009's Note - I assure you I will always post what you say provided it is clean, unless it is a rumour which directly repeats one just before it.}

22 Jul 2011 21:51:30
Just heard from a reliable source ( everyone as got one of these so i thought i would too ) that there is a chance we may buy more players , chances are 50/50.
Kenny is big fan of this site and reads daily for tips and potential signing advice

I guess I will not be posting on here anymore since I said that If Aguero doesn't sign for Liverpool I would stop posting I gave my word... So, its been a pleasure. Hopefully Liverpool Sign a good left back (Baines), centreback (Cahill), rightwinger (Hazard) and a must , IMO Striker (Aguero) "You can call me a dreamer but I'm not the only one" I also pray that players like Aquilani, Poulsen, Degan, Ngog, Joe Cole, El Zhar and unfortunately Meireles leave Anfield as soon as possible so Liverpool can rebuild. We should of signed the players we got this summer last summer, we are desperately behind the top 3 shall I say and I will finish with this, Jesus Fernandez Suso is a hidden diamond and must be in the first time ASAP when he is ready, don't rush him though, thank you Rafa Players like Shelvey and Spearing have no chance now Henderson and Charlie Adam are there. All the best to everyone on here, all The eds and may the best club win next season.

You can find me on Twitter or in FIFA 12 in September @DanielHanwell YNWA

{Ed009's Note - for any regular posters, likely to be imitated, I would ask you to post an email in the address section. It is the only way we have managed to pick up on those ripping off Blair Mayne and Macca amongst others.}

22 Jul 2011 21:42:14
I've a question to you all. The other day someone posted about having a bet on gerrard playing less than 7 games next season or something like that.
Can you tell me which bookies you placed the bet at.

who is macca wats his real name, is it steve mcmanman {Ed002's Note - No he is not Steve Mc.}

22 Jul 2011 21:36:12
eds would love to see him at anfield but not too sure realistically....any chances of adam johnson guys?
cheers great site {Ed002's Note - Most slim.}

22 Jul 2011 21:27:42
the loan deal is the only way we can lower our wage, because we'd only be paying part of his wages as no clubs are whiling to pay the asking price, so it makes financial sense at this time, otherwise we'd have him not playing for us and paying all his wages. Do we need to carry on?

22 Jul 2011 21:19:13
Hey ed's an reds wat up?
Mus say I'm really happy a summer business so far well done to king kenny, Damien Commoli and John W Henry. We ain't got the agueros or sanchezs but we got a team we already had our superstars in gerrard an Suarez. I am interested in our pursuit of some very talented youngsters I hope the ed's can help me with. Pelosi(USA) Niang (Caen) are we interested? as much as press say as I like these lads and believe they have potential to be top top players. Also hope ed002 is spot on about sissoko as he is a future opposition destroyer. I don't think were too far away mayb 3 players for a very strong squad dats wat we've always lack and now we have it. I'm hoping for a positive season. Keep up the work ed's and regular posters love the read.
Cheers

If so, carry on going and I'll give away my ticket and pay a visit to your bird to keep them company. Remember, the more travelling fans the better.

Are the rumours that aguero is a Liverpool fan true?

if So would we lee in the market for him next year Provided we get Champions league, next season?

Thx in advance

Rumours please ed, thank you guys

Liverpool till I Die {Ed009's Note - I doubt the player will ever sign for Liverpool in all likelihood. Please everyone, take this as our answer.}

22 Jul 2011 20:51:41
its only when you read this page that you realise the difficulty a new manager has to deal with (outgoing players/incomings) wages ect ... with that said its good that when good players want to be apart of the traditions of a club like liverpool fc it make's you think its not all about the massive wages their taking home if a player like "aguero" took a pay cut to join it would be a massive statement to all other clubs im looking forward to the new season and with some good luck we will be in the champions l next season .

Gerrard been sent to Top Welsh groin injury specialist, the same one that Giggs uses for his groin problems. Imogen Thomas I believe is her name. Best in the business. {Ed009's Note - Come on now. Giggs maintains that although he is happy in Manchester, he sometimes does miss Wales.}

22 Jul 2011 20:18:33
i reackon stevie gerrard will only play a bit part this season anf kk will play with his new midfield options

22 Jul 2011 20:12:49
breaking news from **e***** gerrard out for 4 months then atleats 2 months to get fit i swear this is true give me some respect on this site like macca gets from **e***** who has his ears in melwood and that is fact

22 Jul 2011 20:06:23
I can't understand all these people who say if we get 4th spot next season we're doing well. As long as I can remember supporting the reds (almost 40 years) I've always fancied us to win the league until it's mathematically impossible. This season coming is exactly the same. Get your head and heart behind the team, stop moaning about who's signed and who hasn't and give it everything you've got to get that league back in our hands.

22 Jul 2011 19:43:34
just heard rumour we are looking at Jesus Navas
well...we have god (robbie) ..so why not

22 Jul 2011 19:42:29
Evening all,

Just a request really - please could people stop referring to fringe players as "deadwood" - whilst they may not be Liverpool quality - they are still professional athletes and regardless of opinions, are good at what they do

Rant Over - Eds, fellow readers - have a great weekend

Cheers

I recently posted that Liverpool are interested in Johnson (no suprise there) and I gave a hint as to who my source is, but I think it will be difficult to do business with City. One thing I will say though is that the lad grew up a Newcastle supporter and I suspect the lure of Andy Carrol and Jordan henderson would easily tempt him away, although I've heared it may be next season.

Think we should consider bidding for torres to return, he clearly isnt happy in london and he regrets leaving. I for one would welcome el nino back. Could this be the familiar face kk is talking about? {Ed002's Note - Would you really want a player who had underperformed in the world cup last summer; under performed for one club in the first half of last season; under performed for another club in the second half of last season; has under performed in pre season?}

I recon we have the best squad in 20 years, the best manager in 20 years, the best owners in 20 years and the best youth set up in 20 years . Its taking shape. No wonder Rooney is acknowledging that we are on the way back. Attack, Attack, Attack. Once again teams will cack themselves at Anfield. Cannot wait to get going. Reality Red

Would anybody take Torres back on loan? Jari_L

22 Jul 2011 17:47:32
theturdz here bearer of some bad news for all lfc fans.
my mates doing the refurb have told me that gerrard is finished as a top player the medical staff have done all they can for his groin he is f***ed its all over for him they say he is gutted thats why kenny getting in midfeild players to take the load of him also downing has bought joe coles house so expect him to be sold soon

22 Jul 2011 17:10:31
Who rates tevez, i know he is expensive but why don't we go for him. we need a cover striker for suarez and carrol and who we got. Kuyt? really we need a player who can score aswell as assist with goals and Tevez has proven this. he may be 27 but he would be worth it. if we allowed him a week in every month for a holiday with his family then what be wrong with that.

22 Jul 2011 17:04:51
In all seriousness why are we loaning a quality player like Aquilani out AGAIN. Thats 2 seasons he would have takeen up on his contract and we have nothing in return, sort it our Liverpool either keep him there or sell him.

JP

22 Jul 2011 17:01:38
what about gerarrad? any news? will he start the season? there is nothing on the media about it...if he allright so we would know about it...its look like something not good gonna happen...i hope i am wrong...
what is your opinion ed...? {Ed002's Note - I don't know anything about Gerrard's groin and am happy going through life without any details of it. There was however some vague speculation earlier.}

22 Jul 2011 16:59:49
hi eds, you get paid to do this job, so stop moaning at the people who ask questions most of you's arent even liverpool fans. so just get on with the job you get paid for i know you wont post this but if you do you got guts. dan

{Ed002's Note - Dan, you truly have no idea at all.}

22 Jul 2011 16:43:34
I cant see why we would be interested in Jansen looking at his injury record over the last 3 years. Has he not been out of action since april with hp problems as well?

22 Jul 2011 13:44:04
Ive been talking to my friends who r man city n man u fans (unlucky for me but when u live in manchester i kinda expect it) they r all saying liverpool are a big threat and i agree because for the first time in a while we are begining to get a squad with depth with 2 or 3 good signings i believe we could really make a genuine title challenge i.e a left bk a cb n another good winger preferebly johnson n maybe a bk up striker any thoughts who could be a possibility to fill these roles eds??

Hi all Totally addicted to this site Great job eds I think some fans are getting greedy and are not thinking about the bigger picture Fsg are doing a great job at turning around the mess our great club was in .....kenny isn't stupid He knows what we need and who needs to leave. Give him and dc a chance to do their job before you start moaning Marquee signing who cares as long as we progress Top four will happen this season and with a bit of luck we will push em all the way.....Luis suarez for player of the season Get behind kenny and the team whoever stays whether its the so called deadwood or not...I can't remember being so excited about a new season.....with hoe in our hearts ......redmoth

22 Jul 2011 13:44:58
We've been linked to so many players since January it would take Carol Vorderman a f***in month to work out the exact number. So why when a player thats on the list as long as Peter Crouch's legs, do we moan about either missing out on a target, or i hope we dont go back in for Tarabet. I may be wrong but we even to my none existent I.T.K knowledge, {except what i hear from the Eds} we didn't even enquire about him never mind hoping we dont renew our interest. Guarentee that if the likes of Izzagurie{spelling}, Diego and even Roux move to other clubs, some will be telling Comolli to get his finger out of his asse and get with the programme our targets our getting away. When the players who are costing us a fortune a week in wages are and who are not wanted are moved on, as sure as night follows day their'll be a couple new faces at least. Now the Copa America is over maybe we might move for a player or two from South America, who knows. Last point, for a 16 mil pound signing Henderon doesn't seem to excite very many, i truly belive he's a quality player from the times i watched Sunderland play, i thought he was a real top prospect then, and was over the moon that he signed, who i think will end up playing a big part of our successful upcoming season. Jonson6

I have it on good authority that Joe Cole will NOT leave liverpool this year due to depature of Sammy lee we need someone else to pick up the cones after training sessions.

Ed: Who does Mark Eee play for and how much will he cost? Does KK fancy him?

22 Jul 2011 13:09:07
hi eds, love the site keep up the great work its well known we're looking to bring down the wage bill by getting shot of jovanivic, poulsen, cole, ngog, aquaman, degen, el zahr and a few more, getting these off the wage bill would reduce it by nearly 25m a yr, but do you have any idea how many of these we're looking to offload before we go back into the market for another couple of players? {Ed009's Note - I don't think there is a set amount, it is simply that the priority at the minute is to offload as many as possible, before we look elsewhere.}

22 Jul 2011 13:02:04
What will KK s starting line up be for the first game of the season??

22 Jul 2011 12:58:24
ed its great how the press & media keep saying liverpool have shown interest in such a player and then next another team is interested or he has signed for another team... i think dc & kk are playing cats and mouse with the press & media as well as other clubs i mean look at phil jones was we really gonna sign him?? Or was kk just doing it to push his price up and start a bidding war with saf?? wat do you think ed. on to other transfers i think a smokescreen has been setup for who we'll sign as a left back everyone still has jose enrique as the favourite for the spot. But we've had jose angel, gael clichy, marcell jansen, aly cissoko, stephen warnock (who failed a medical in jan), porto's lb can't spell his name, and now we are interested in suarez's teammate or plays left back for the national side... the only interest kk & dc have is BAINES stastics prove this its basically just time plus when the deadwood are shipped out. (ed wat do you think) {Ed009's Note - I am afraid that there aren't really any 'smoke screens'.}

22 Jul 2011 12:44:45
Ed, a rumour and observation

The rumour around Germany is that liverpool are talking to Marko Marin's agent about a possible move. The fee being quoted is 18M.

Onto the observation, the way Barcelona have been conducting their business especially when it comes to selling their players particularly young promising players. My worry is that they always attach a buy-back clause when they transfer which means even if that player becomes a star, he will move back to Barca once they come for him. Now i can imagine if they did do that supposed we went in for Afellay??

I know they have done that to the Oriol transfer to Chelsea and the Bojan transfer to Roma.
It jus sickens me..

22 Jul 2011 12:13:27
ED, a few people around here are saying steven gerrard is having problems, i was told he had a set back soon after returning to training, i have been looking everywhere to see him kicking a ball or even running, but i cant find a thing out i was really hoping for great things from steven this year, do you know any news on his progress? bob paisleys skids {Ed009's Note - I am afraid that Gerrard's injury would appear to not be healing correctly, due to playing through injury too many times in the past. I am not so sure that it is career ending just yet, but not good news at all.}

22 Jul 2011 12:27:35
Is there any chance of us signing Kiron Clark from aston villa hes a great player can also play left back {Ed009's Note - It is just another name, there is no interest at this time.}

22 Jul 2011 11:57:48
Hi Eds
Is the Sunderland move for N'gog definitely dead?
My understanding was that N'gog wanted to see what other offers came in, with a preference of moving back to France, i.e. if no-one comes in for him he might still end up at Sunderland. Thoughts anyone?

Another thing, I'm no civil engineer or architect, but can anyone explain to me how the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff got built 12 years ago with a 75k capacity AND a retractable roof and 'only' cost c.£130 million yet we're looking at c.£400 million for a smaller stadium and no retractable roof Might seem boring and pointless to speculate, but money spent on stadium needs to be paid back by us and takes away from possible transfers - just look at Arsenal, no 'marquee' signings then regardless of CL footy.

22 Jul 2011 12:26:45
Leighton Baines is by far the stand out candidate for the lb position so why are we talking about average players janssen , enrique , etc.. all this would do would add competition for the place we want someone to make the position his own with robinson as backup and learning from baines and the quallitys he has and i for one think baines would be a fantastic signing and on the note we could possibly have the best defence in the league.

Baines Robinson Aurellio Soto Agger Skrtel Carra Kelly Flanno Johno

22 Jul 2011 12:20:12
Need to ask you Ed,
Do you know how many deadwood need to be sold before we start buying again?
Konchesky already leave..
Jova been released for free. But in the mean time until he find new club, do lfc still need to pay his wages?
Heard Degen also been released.

Lfc need to offer kyrgiakos, poulsen, insua to other clubs even if low pric. Dont wait for offer to come for players..

We still need to compete in FA cup, league..having Aquilani, meireles will be good for us..

Dtg'lfc {Ed009's Note - Jovanovic is allowed to leave on a free, but if he doesn't find a club, he will remain with us and we will pay his wages. All the players you mention are for sale, the problem is in finding interested parties. I don't think there is a fixed number that we need to sell, it is just the priority at the minute.}

22 Jul 2011 12:13:54
There are some fans here who degrade rafa a lot and call him names.first of all no manager is perfect in transfer market not even fergi and kenny.
Secondly rafa may have made the most crucial contribution to LFC in time to come when we know our stadium will take toll on transfer budget in few years ahead.revamping the acadamy and bringing two coaches from barca will prove very important for us.
Plus I love him how he stood face to face with english media, fergi and h&g jokers.

But like I said no one is perfect but we should show him some respect.

Regards
Red indian
Ps:I forgot he was also instrumental in involving kenny again with club.

To jonnybarnes89-90,

I think you'll find that in 2007, our commercial dept was still being run from the top floor of the Sandon Pub That's how mickey mouse Moores and Parry were. Moores in particular did not look at the club in the 90's and think 'How can I make this brand and club commercially one of the biggest and the best in the World?'

He sat on his arse doing absolutely nothing. His thought process was as deep as his due diligence into H&G. Moores, ultimately was responsible for the majority of the club's present day problems, if not all.

We have a lot of ground to make up and by all accounts we are now starting to do that and if any credit was to go to H&G then it was this side of the business that they improved. It's difficult to see how they couldn't improve it but they did make headway. The shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered was the start and as Hicks pointed out in 2008 "we only had the 18th best shirt sponsorship deal in the Premier League" Or the 3rd worst? The deal that Standard Chartered replaced was the deal that Plick Parry so brilliantly engineered and at the time Moores gave Parry a big public slap on the back, instead of swift kick in the nuts.

FSG know that to get the club into profit the commercial revenue streams have to improve. The warrior shirt deal and the shirt sponsorship is a massive improvement already. They won't stop there and I notice this morning we've gone and head hunted Nike's top guy for UK and Ireland, yet more proof of the work going on behind the scenes.

Dirk's Engine Room, I agree with you but Degen's contract has another 12 months to run which by my estimations would cost the club £3.7M in wages, tax, National Insurance etc. This maybe a last resort job if they cannot shift him to any other club this summer. If he goes on loan, we still end up paying 85% of his wages like we did last season.

It may cost us upwards of £15M to pay every player we cannot get rid of. This is money that could have gone on re-building as well as the money we are already forgoing in transfer fees, which again is lost money.

We need to ensure we do not panic when next June our accounts are published and shows a massive loss, because with the money paid out to buy Adam, Henderson, Doni (free transfers are anything but) as well as a sky high unsustainable wages bill.

Final thought: This time next year Phillip Degen would have cost the club approx. £14.8M. How's that for a free transfer eh? He isn't the only one FSG has to worry about either unfortunately.

Bob the Red

Hi Ed's great job as always, not a rumor but please answer, could one of the Ed's who has a insight in LFC youth (no offence Ed002) could someone tell me which players you expect to get a promotion into the first team, and likely to get some game time this season, anybody's insight would be a great help, keep up the good work lads #1 Rumor site.
INDIANred. {Ed009's Note - Coady, Sterling, Morgan and Suso are undoubtedly the brightest academy talents at this time. Out of those, I can see Coady getting a fair bit of first team game time this season, due to the fact that he seems sufficiently developed physically. The other three will no doubt get a few substitute appearances and perhaps a start or two in the cup, but it is important not to rush them in. It could have a negative effect on both their body and - if they make a bad mistake - their mental state too.}

Hi Ed

Quick question for you regards Alvaro Pereira.

I first saw his name come up yesterday as a Centre Back option with Marcell Jansen the Left Back target.

Today I see Pereira talked about as our left back target.

Which is he, left or centre (and do you rate him in that position?). He's probably just today's name and someone else will come up tomorrow, but appreciate your thoughts none the less.

Red G {Ed009's Note - He is primarily a left wing back but can also be played in midfield. He is very good going forward but not so solid defensively and that is where I rate a defender.}

To all those who are desperate for a "marquee" signing:
What is wrong with Luis Suarez? Is he not marquee enough for you? He only signed 6months ago and has played 13 times. I admire your enthusiasm, but what do you expect, a "marquee" signing every 6 months? Be happy people our squad is stronger and we have Kenny and good staff to back him up. I cannot wait for the season to start.
(ps. The term "marquee" signing is so bloody lame).

morning Eds. quick question, out of Souness, Evans, Houllier and Benitez, (Hodgson wasted money as well during his short stay) ...who would you say wasted the most money on mediocre players, which has probably contributed to Liverpools lack of success over the past 15/20 year. Thanks... Ohh, GREEEEAT site folks. {Ed009's Note - I would perhaps say Houllier, simply because he spent more than any of the others apart from Benitez. Benitez made several flop signings, yes, but he also brought in Masch, Torres and Reina who have become truly world class players.}

Im gonna go against the grain here and say that I think Aquilani will stay next year. I think Kenny rates him and the price tag they've put on head head is prohibitive. I believe its more likely Mereiles will leave.

There you go Eds. If I'm right I think a well done will be in order. If your right then I will bow down before your unrivaled knowledge.

all this talk about signing another winger preferbly right, i think liverpool already have a very very talented right winger in the young lad raheem sterling , he should be given the chance in the first team maybe carling cup games fa cup if we get a handy tie i think he is going to be one of the top players in english football for years to come he is quick skillfull and can finish the likes of micheal owen, steven gerrard and carra wer all given the chance early and now look at them i think it would be a waste to sign that chamberlain guy im not saying hes a bad player i just think liverpool have a real gem in raheem sterling and who better to make the best out of him then the king... he is and will be a top player the future looks bright..

Hi eds. Any updates on poulsen or ngog being sold? At the moment it looks like they will be staying to fight for their place (which they will never get) and will be robbing lfc of about 100k a week. They must be sold. And if they do, do you think we will go out and buy anyone else? Cheers {Ed009's Note - I do not know of any impending moves for either player I am afraid.}

22 Jul 2011 09:26:55
Hi Eds with the upcoming game against Hull City i was wondering if the impending transfer that was supposedly happening when the friendly was announced was Peter Gulacsi.

Has there been any interest in Hull Players from Liverpool and could there be any Hull players coming in as part of this friendly?

Nathan {Ed009's Note - There were murmurings of Tom Cairney, but I can see no reason why the player would not have been signed already if that was the reason for the signing. It is probably one of two things: to do with Gulacsi or just another friendly.}

I see that Jack Robinson and Andre Wisdom have been withdrawn by LFC from the England U20 world cup squad. Clearly Robbo is nw an important player for us and may be needed for Premiership matches while the tournament is on going. Does Andre Wisdom's withdrawl mean that KK has him in his first team plans this season? This lad has a great future and he could save us spending to replace Carra in a season or two time.

Just Watched Liverpool's 5-0 demolition of Brimingham. And, i see the fact Suarez is doing all the Creativity. If he continued to pull strings as he done in that Match , he may not be profilic as he used to be. Please God, bring the Gerrard back to his fitness and Suarez will be a 30+ goals striker.

what are the odds that our next transfer will be from barcelona. as Barcelona are 21million euro short

Ibrahim Afellay from PSV in a 3 million euro
Jeffr n Su rez 5m
Gabriel Milito 5m
Bojan Krkic 5m
Adriano vaule 5m

Barcelona

in Cesc Fabregas Arsenal 38million euro
in Alexis Sanchez udi 26 million euro

bara cold end up getting these players.Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta remarked that the club's transfer kitty was down to 43 million euro.

43 - 26 = 17million euros for Cesc Fabregas lol,

Barcelona have to sell in order to afford Cesc Fabregas

Barcelona are 21million euro short

if Portugal Cristiano Ronaldo 94 million 2009, Brazil Kak 69 million 2009, Zlatan Ibrahimović 66 million 2009

cesc Fabregas will be a bargin. shirt saleds will finance the fee for Fabregas

A quick look at LFC squad numbers could be quite revealing (I know it can change but, hey, bear with me:
No.3 is vacant (Dann? Soussoko?)
Aqualani, Degen, El Zhar, Insua and Jovanovic are all listed without a number (goodbye, farewell)
Most interestingly, Poulsen, Cole, Meireles and Ngog have all got squad numbers
Read into it what you will but I would personally be disappointed to see Cole or Poulsen play for us again.

I wish people would stop panicking- let's point out some facts here: are we stronger now than this time last year- definitely. Have we signed young British players - meaning homegrown quota and the age of the squad is not a problem for years to come- definitely. I'm a Wigan athletic season ticket holder but my family are mad reds so I have always followed them closely. When dalglish was previously in charge he didn't sign world class players just good British hardworking players mainly and shaped a team that could beat anyone and made everyone up their game. He is doing the same again. Would I love to sign mata, Sanchez etc - of course but we aren't- we are building a team and with the youngsters also in 3/4 years time we will be unstoppable again. Keep the faith people- believe

does signing a big name player really sell so many extra shirts eg if we signed aguero (which i know we wont) sure we would see loads of tops with his name on but if we dont will people not buy the tops anyway but get suarez or gerrard etc on them ?

morning lads. i wanted to write a little something on our very own mr saurez. i have been watching him in the uruguay games and to be honest he is a top top quality player. we talk of the messies, ronaldos, neymers, rooneys but our star striker is to be fair one of the best technical players ive seen in quite some years. i think dc + kk have struck gold with this lad. sg will be a legend of this era but i think saurez will take us to a different level. If we can get the best out of him keep him fit then we will be laughing, he made the end of last season look easy in the prem so imagine what he will be like now he is settled in to the club. i honestly cannot wait to see how we perform this season, im sure there will be ups and downs but thats part of bein a fan of this great club. im also looking forward to see how lucas has progressed, i think he has done well over the last couple of seasons even with all the grief the lad gets but he really wants to play for liverpool so thats good enough for me, he may not have the step overs and skill etc but you need his type of player to be able to make a team.

i just wonder weather kk can bring no 19 home in his first full season.

hi, my first reaction when I saw john henry's comments about ngog and aquilani was to think, you're never going to get a good price for something you sell if the buyers think you don't want it. So, smart move, maybe it can help get a better price for them...did anyone else read it this way?

why did liverpool buy aqularni injured?
why is degan on 60k a week?
why is el zar at liverpool?
why was sotos even signed? hes lost us lost of points ana made vital mistakes
ngog is not liverpool standard wba maybe.
why did we sign poulsen when and loan out aqularni?

I wish and pray and hope we sell poulsen ngog and soto and bring in a striker centre back and left back. I live maxi and cole but if we sell i wouldnt mind a fast rightwinger

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

1. Because he's quality and the injuries were not thought to be too bad, but he found it hard to find fitness.
2.Because he was a free transfer.
3.looked a good prospect but just didn't evolve, not every young player makes a star.
4.we were on a very tight budget and needed back-up, in that sense Soto has done a fantastic job.
5. Again, not all prospects turn into stars, but he cost us 1m so we should make money there, then take wages into account and we should break square, so not all bad
6.I honestly can't tell you what goes through Roy Hodgsons head... again it was maybe for cheap back-up, but who knows...

Hi,

Amazing site and am on here every day No real rumours just wanted to have my say really.

I'm sick and tired of listening to people busting the ed's and macca's chops when transfers fall through.

90% of the time they are telling us what is going on (DOWNING, ADAM and a little further back SUAREZ), getting it right, and we bitch and moan.

What annoys me more than anything is that clearly the eds (especially ed002) have contacts and even know why deals are falling through (AQUILANI wages etc....).

I believe we will sell a lot of deadwood and reduce the wage bill but why do we want to then waste it on AGUERO and other players who undoubtedly have talent but no passion for the clubs they are going to.

Yes I want DANN (who it sounds like would walk on broken glass barefoot to come to Anfield), JOHNSON and MATA (and possibly YOUNG up front) as they have (except for JOHNSON) expressed some form of desire to play for us. But if we don't get these players will I be upset, no Christ this is one of the best years (including January) that Liverpool have had in the transfer market and still people are, dare I repeat it, bitching and moaning.

The players we have brought in have said and done the right things, ADAM refused to go anwhere else, DOWNING refused to go anywhere else and HENDERSON has stated his desire to work with GERRARD (who incidentally won't leave at the age of 31 as he would have when he was in his prime not an injury risk).

Please please can people just be excited that EVERYTHING is moving in the right direction and stop slagging off this player and that player and this ed, that ed and Macca.

Sorry for the massive rant but I am fed up heaing peoplemaon about the positive moves that are happening at our great club.

Great site eds keep up he amazing work.

Hey ed's Just wondering about an idea that poppped in to my mind.. Kenny said that Carroll were a part of the summer plans anyway, so it was ok signing him in january right?

When torres left.. He also said that the owners did everything in their power to keep torres, and Suarez were supposed to come anyway, if torres stayed or left..

So that means(at least in my head) that we were supposed to have 3 worldclass strikers in the team.. And now we have 2 + ngog. So then i figure we are buying another top class striker, ala torres/fowler/owen/rush type of player, cos we do not have that now..

Higuain or Aguero?? I just like the thought of Aguero Suarez and Carroll on the squad.. {Ed001's Note - you seem to have forgotten Kuyt is a striker.....}

22 Jul 2011 00:58:51
hey eds

just wondering as we are now if any of you are brave enough to name your first 11 for the first game? Big ask i no, not sure if i no my own yet

Jonny 8792 {Ed001's Note - ok, I will have a go:
Reina
Kelly - Carra - Agger - Robinson
Johnson - Adam - Lucas - Downing
Suarez - Carroll
Obviously that is players at the club now and expecting Gerrard to be out. If Gerrard was fit, I would play him on the right and Johnson at left back.}

22 Jul 2011 00:56:22
My question is, how much is too much? We all know we have a glut in midfield and must alleviate it. But what Im saying is that we can/should keep more guys than alot of fans are saying. Lets take away the keeper and the back 4 and that leaves us with 6 guys. Now lets say we play a 4-3-3 and our preferred starters are: Lucas, Adam, Gerrard, Downing, Suarez, Carroll.

Now how many quality backups should we have? Id say at least three and possibly four. Why not keep Kuyt, Henderson, Aqualani and Meireles all on the bench? Wouldn't it be nice when one of the starters is out hurt to have quality like that on hand to fill in? Think about it, how often are all of those guys going to be fit and ready to play anyway? A handful of times all year?

Now in a perfect world it would perhaps be a bit more balanced. For instance maybe one of Aqualani and Meireles could be replaced with a player who naturally plays wide. However enough of those guys are versatile enough where it shouldnt be a problem.

Basically what Im saying is keep all these guys, we will need them.

I think people need to give all the ed's a break, hearing about how a fair few people have sent in posts slating them and having a massive go. If you feel like that, why are you even on the site? These are the people who have more information than you and are trying to get that across. If it were me and people always kept asking about the same person, I would go mental.

Basically if you are one of the people who have sent these posts to eds then go to a different site, and stop wasting there time

Eds - great site and work from you all. Totally addictive.
Just one small point that I would like to make which seems to get overlooked in all of the hype and b*llsh*it posted by supporters who would like to see 'marquee' or big name signings:

The current mngt team has a policy for transfers, based on stats (buy and read the book 'Pay to Play'; its the 'bible' that FSG and Comolli use as guidance for purchasing policy. The other factor which is foremost in current signing policy (instituted largely, following KD's appointment as manager) is doing things 'the Liverpool way' - which, from the point of view of transfers, means that we will only sign players who want to play for THIS CLUB, because it is the greatest club in the world.....not for money, nor for promises of instant gratification. Suarez, Downing, Adam have obviously been signed for this reason because they understood 'the project', and one would like to think that Henderson and Carroll also now have gotten the message - if they didn't get it immediately.
What this means, quite simply, in my estimation, is that we will only sign those players who understand the greatness of the Club that they are signing for, and NOT because they are already a 'name' or potentially a 'name' in the world of football.
One example to illustrate....I doubt that we shall sign Aly Cissoko. Main reason being is that, despite being a very good player and someone who we might gladly pay £12-£15m for, he is essentially too interested in himself as an individual, and not as a member of a successful collective team. Of course, this attitude could change, if he was brought into the Liverpool fold....but it all depends whether that gamble is worth taking.
So when I see all of these names aired on this site - Cissoko, Taarblet, Park Chu Young, Enrique, Mata, Aguero, Hazard....ad nauseum, I tend to apply a simple criterion....Do they understand what an absolute privilege it is to play for our club, and do they have the strength of character to fit the highest demands that KD and the rest of the mngt team will expect if we do them the privilege of going out and signing them. If not, I would suggest that most of the names we bandy about are in the realm of 'Jackanory'
