Now for my much anticipated review.

Mignolet was very bad. So bad.

Was impressed with the defense in the first half actually

Joe Gomez seemed to get caught on the wrong side for Ozils and Sanchez goals, not his best moment

Mane was a bit of a let down, maybe he needs some games to get some sharpness back.

Couts was a bit weak defending and tracking back.

Anndd, was it just me or did Oxlade-Chamberlain almost seemed scared coming on? He didn't seem to attempt a sprint or show off, shame.

Game fell apart but a point will do fine.

Merry Christmas!

{Ed025's Note - why look for negatives after that feast george, liverpool were excellent and bar for the clown in goal could have won easily mate..just enjoy it..

22 Dec 2017 22:01:37
Ed025 a very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

{Ed025's Note - same to you barry mate..

22 Dec 2017 22:03:23
Sorry Ed, just wanted a turn at match reviews like the rest of ya!

Will get back in my box.

Also, my heart was racing all game! Could not enjoy it!

{Ed025's Note - you do make some good points there george but that might be for another day mate..

22 Dec 2017 22:03:23
Totally agree ed025. Mings was shockingly bad, I would hate to be a defender in front of him, he just breeds insecurity. We should and could have won that game easily, Gomez made a silly mistake but Mings was plain embarrassing.

{Ed025's Note - cost you again mate im afraid, questions must be asked about how hes still first choice Kd..

22 Dec 2017 22:04:46
Im just happy we got a point with Krusty the clown in goal.

22 Dec 2017 22:08:40
I agree in a sense BUT Coutinho I thought was one of the better players, but him mane and even Salah weren’t at their best. Mingolet needs to be dropped! HAS TOK! Klavan and Lovren played quite well I thought. Firmino again showed why he doesn’t need to score every game he was everywhere! Can plays dquite well. I was worried about Milner repacking Henderson BUT he was actually ok. Real estate a keeper before the CB and I think that’ll help settle the defence. The ref was piddle poor! No major choices but they kick us, it’s fine, we challenge them, free kick. Points thrown away again but a draw was probably fair.

{Ed025's Note - not fair from my seat mate, 2 points lost in the end i think..

22 Dec 2017 22:09:54
When is klopp going to be bold enough and tell Mignolet the uncomfortable truth and that is he is not good enough for Liverpool. For how long are we going to be subjected to such abysmal performance. Can’t klopp see? The hallmark of any good and effective manager is to take decisive steps when faced with a situation that affects the total team performance. This is really disheartening. We have the most unreliable keeper in the top 6. Mr klopp that says a lot about your management style.

{Ed025's Note - pep had the same situation at city ericos...and he kicked hart into touch the first chance he had..

22 Dec 2017 22:34:52
Mignolet is a disgrace no where near good enough. Jamie c an Gary N are correct only klopp can change it or I could buy a one way ticket back to Sunderland for mignolet.

{Ed025's Note - even sunderland are not that desperate TH..

22 Dec 2017 22:38:41
Ed025, that’s why is so strange that a capable manager with a good reputation will allow such a situation to persist in his team for almost 2 years It’s really beyond me. Becos it does not make sense. Klopp have made great changes to our style of play but he has failed with regards to the keeper issue. Ed025 why do you think klopp continues to pu this trust in Mignolet knowing wry well that it is damaging his reputation? Can anyone explain as well?

{Ed025's Note - he must think hes the best you have at the moment ericos, hes a top manager but i must say i think hes got that one severely wrong mate..

22 Dec 2017 22:38:57
Mane has the hump he's not the main man anymore simple. 2 silly mistakes from young joe gomez cost us but he will learn and mignolet is mignolet while he's inbetween the stick this kind of stuff isn't going to change. Time for klopp to toughen up a bit and drop the clown. Definatly should have come away with the 3points tonights. Another game where would have taken a point before game but feels like a defeat at full time.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that leeboy..

22 Dec 2017 22:42:02
Yes without question if this isn't addressed with a quality keeper or give one of the others a run in place of mignolet this is just barmy madness it's obvious we need a new keeper an defensive cover, got a feeling won't b much action in Jan doesn't seem klopp thing.

{Ed025's Note - im sure he will realize that a new keeper is a must hailstones..

22 Dec 2017 23:00:02
Ok here's the thing Ed001 said Migs is on his way out even though he's unreliable. Now if he was a foreword and not doing his job he'd be gone ages ago. So the question is why the hell is JK sticking with him?

{Ed025's Note - god only knows barry mate..

22 Dec 2017 23:16:40
We were slack in not getting Pickford he in my opinion should b England number 1 should of gave Sunderland mignolet back, sayin all that though our scouts wanted Salah an thank God we got him so hopefully they have there eye on some new talent especially at the back, tonight was frustrating but we never got beat an fell behind hope we can get some experience heads with quality too give us a bit more control.

22 Dec 2017 23:17:34
It's really bizarre. He clearly rates Karius and Ward or else why are they still here. And as Ed001 says, the plan is for one of them to replace Migs. I can only assume the delay is to 'protect' them from potential criticism for another while. Not sure why, they're both 24 - not 18, but that seems to be plan.

But it's backfired in every way. Migs has cost us in several games now, and the attempt to protect the other two hasn't worked imo.

Think about it - the Liverpool goalkeeping position is probably going to be the talking point of our team in the media for the next couple of weeks because of Migs' latest error. So if Karius (and it'll be Karius if there's a change) comes in next game, he'll be under a microscope and if he so much as dwells on a backpass, as he's been known to do, the media (and some fans) will be all over him for it.

{Ed025's Note - your right SR....great scorecast tonight mate, i hope you won a few bob..

22 Dec 2017 23:20:59
On the game, I thought Cou was awful defensively and lost the ball at will, moans at the ref and NEVER tracked back to fight for it. He only played when he had the ball and when he lost it, he was useless. His goal does not inoculate him from his defensive showing or lack thereof. In the first half, we had chances to go 4 up BUT we messed up. However with the way we conceded 3 in 5 mins with the eternal clown in goal, not sure we would have been able to hold a 4 goal lead had we had it. Gomez made one mistake today and got punished for it. It was up to the older players to stepthe time came for Migs to do a routine two fisted save, he actually achieved the impossible task of screwing that up and handed them the momentum. Lord, the guy is useless beyond repair.

As for Migs not being thrown out, Ed01 said that Klopp wants to put Karius back in BUT he is afraid of the abuse he will get should he make a mistake and frankly with the way some of our fans behave, I am as well. Now that was a while ago so don't know if something has changed. Karius should come in now and be done with it till the end of the season cos the draws are killing us.

{Ed025's Note - i think even klopp knows that now brover, i will be amazed if he starts the next game mate..

22 Dec 2017 23:23:02
Don’t rate Pickford either. Very average keeper, not particularly special. He’s better than Mignolet but that’s not saying much. If we are to compete at the top we need a proper top clsss keeper.

{Ed025's Note - i happen to agree Mr D..

22 Dec 2017 23:46:12
Ed Pep saw the keeper situation at City wasn't working and bang change of keeper job done.

23 Dec 2017 00:09:02
I agree Mr D, need to go for a top class keeper.

22 Dec 2017 23:00:12
Totally agree what a great game.

22 Dec 2017 23:46:12
Mings was poor and should be looked at being replaced but let's all be honest here the game should of been over by half time . The fab four are great when on fire but it is games like this tonight when they have to be on fire kill games off not let teams back into them by missing chance after chance this is were the manager and the coaches need to get in to their heads. Point's dropped will come back and kick us in the back side. I would also like to say and this is a first i thought the ref had a good game .

23 Dec 2017 01:15:57
It's not just Migs,
We've all been seeing it for years now, the whole defensive unit needs upgrading,
Between them we gift at least 1 goal each game, if not Migs its Lovren, if not Klaven its Moreno,

Something also has affected Mane, He gets in great positions but makes the wrong final decision,

We should have been 3 up before Migs moment,
not all is well behind the scenes I fear,

23 Dec 2017 04:05:45
Agree with everything ed25 said, bar IT in goal (except way less scary) we could have won. ONE mistake by a young defender get even after that he’s still our best defender, the defence were solid. The team as a whole barring the ‘knock knock’ in goal and we should have won. Not any Tver ‘bad’ performances. Couts slay and mane weren’t bad but could have been better, Firmino showed his class again his hard work is finally getting recognised it seems but as I said as a team performance (not including Krusty the clown) we were good.

22 Dec 2017 21:42:09
I think in the end the draw was fair, we were far bette rebut with such a shower of manure for a keeper we can’t relt on 1/ 2 goal leads. I think either play karius or a goalie should be the priority not a CB. I’m our defence biggest critic and barring a single mistake by the young joe Gomez (which I accept he’s only young and still our best defender) but that keeer puts nerves through the team. Salah even though he scored and mane weren’t they’re amazing self but hey you can’t be a 10/ 10 every game but goalkeeper need to be priority. We gave 2 points away. I would like to note the referees abysmal performance, no penalty or sending offs but the amount of times we got kicked and nothing was given yet the same would happen the other way and it was given. A draw is a good result but how it happened is what was frustrating. Merry Christmas everyone.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - i thought the ref was ok JBLP, superb game from both teams but i agree that the reds should have won it..

22 Dec 2017 21:59:09
The draw fair? Don't make me laugh mate. Spanked them all over the park, mignolet costing us points since 2014.

22 Dec 2017 22:00:30
I think our goal keeping situation has been a disgrace since we signed mignolet and the amount of seasons he's been afforded to play. We then bought karius who I still can't truly judge because of a lack of game time and run of games.
The one thing we did see consistently from karius whenever he did play was his fantastic distribution. Danny ward aswell? Played well in Scotland and messed about.
I think there's a lot of simmering Anger from the majority of fans regarding our goalkeeping situation. If mignolets still given the nodd and say we make the champions league semis and he makes a costly mistake? I think the patience will rightfully run out and heads will be looking no further than klopp.

22 Dec 2017 22:10:13
I love ed25 responses even as a bluenose he’s just honest. I try to be honest but sometimes you don’t realise you’re biased. As I see it, we know the keepers crap so at the end of the day if he’s playing we know he’s prone to an error so regardless of how much pressure we spoke. If we don’t finish our chances we know the keeper will let one or two in.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

22 Dec 2017 22:17:18
We blew it, simple. Apart from a crazy 10 minutes Liverpool were so much better than the Gunners. Lucky for us that Cech let in a howler as well as Mignolet.

{Ed025's Note - fair point irish..

22 Dec 2017 22:30:41
johnbarnesleftpeg - Spot on mate, massive respect to him, not just an Everton fan but a football fan and see's things for what they are. Top fella! Thanks for your input tonight Ed25 mate.

{Ed025's Note - no problem mate..

22 Dec 2017 22:36:42
Feels like a bloody defeat to me never thought I'd feel this way again after the seville shambles but here I am again. Where's the whiskey?

{Ed025's Note - give betty ford a ring mate..

22 Dec 2017 23:24:14
If you ever wanted evidence that our keeper, defence and midfield simply weren’t up to it, well tonight was it.

22 Dec 2017 23:24:20
This the the about the 7th time we have dropped points from winning positions this season and it is killing us. This feels like nearly a defeat judging by the way we COMPLETELY bossed them for most of the game. Had we gone 4 up in the first half, it would not have flattered them as they are a shambles. Had Cech not screwed up, we would have been coming home empty-handed from a game we had no right to even concede a goal in let alone draw or lose.

22 Dec 2017 23:50:12
Finding it very hard now to stomach the continued use of players that we all know are not good enough. Forget the defence, forget Couts replacement, forget everything, I just don’t want Migs in goal anymore.

23 Dec 2017 04:09:24
You can have as many shots as you want as much possession as you want, don’t score you don’t get the points. Battered them? We had the Better chances and didn’t put them away. As I mentioned have a keeper like ours and you are sensitive to conceding goals. A draw was fair. I’d rather have 1 goal and score than 10 shots and not score. Watch the game again without bias and you’ll see the result was fair, is not winning was down to a lack of quality/ luck in finishing and a lack of a quality goalkeeper.

22 Dec 2017 21:42:01
Very mixed feelings coming away from that one but again a game that sums up where we are at the moment. That burst where we collapse has come to haunt us again it's like we completely switch off and lose our heads for a space of 10 minutes it's frightening to watch.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Dec 2017 23:27:47
L4Life, I agree. We did not take our chances in the first half and we were wasteful with Mane being the worst and Lovren missing an easy square pass to bot an unmarked Salah and Mane off the Cou free kick, Then, Migs rears his old self again (he's always been that way, really) and put the jitters into the whole defence and the 3 goal happened. Klopp must drop him and throw away the key and let Karius complete the season. The kid literally has to pass the ball into his own net 10 times to match the amount of errors Migs has committed since he joined LFC.

22 Dec 2017 20:38:53
Salah your killing me mate. Anymore of that and you'll be Rooney's driver for the duration.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Dec 2017 20:45:48
Fear not Barry! I'll sort it out mate. :)

22 Dec 2017 20:57:23
And so you did my friend😁.

22 Dec 2017 22:10:50
I would love if this was actually Salah, updating his comments while waiting for a corner to come in 😂.

22 Dec 2017 23:10:30
I have a funny feeling John that it's not the real Salah😉.

22 Dec 2017 18:08:20
Predictions tonight?

I'm going for a 4-2 win to us! I score 2, Mane and Firmino the other 2.

Can;t wait for this game, I don't know whether it's because it's Friday night and Christmas time or I'm very confident about it, roll on kick off! We've got this.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - 1-1 for me salah..

22 Dec 2017 18:56:17
I'm going for a nervy 2-3 win (with our attack looking class and defence/ keeper giving us palpitations) Nothing better than a winning run over Xmas and nothing worse than a losing one.

{Ed025's Note - draw all day long jayden..

22 Dec 2017 18:58:53
Hope your wrong there Ed25 mate, to me this is a must win. I do believe it'll be a close game but I expect plenty of goals and us to edge it, fingers crossed, I mean I'd be happy with us winning 1-0, but somehow I think we'll do them good, one can hope, enjoy your evening Ed25 :)

{Ed025's Note - you too mate..

22 Dec 2017 19:02:02
1-1 a bit low scoring for this one though, 25?

I'll go 3-3.

{Ed025's Note - i think the midfield will stifle each others SR and chances will be of a premium mate...but i hope im wrong mate..

22 Dec 2017 19:02:53
I'd take the draw Ed25 over a defeat (stating the obvious) started my Xmas holidays today and for the sake of my family LFC need not lose tonight otherwise I will still have a sad on, on Xmas day 😂.

{Ed025's Note - its only footy jayden and a draw away will be a good result mate..

22 Dec 2017 19:07:05
3 nil. We look fresher than arsenal and Everton will be forgotten. Come on the lads!

{Ed025's Note - i will never forget everton aoe..

22 Dec 2017 19:15:24
To be fair, although I say its a must win, a draw I'd be a bit gutted with but satisfied overall, I just do believe we can beat them, I think we have the better team out of the two.

22 Dec 2017 19:16:33
1.4 to us, if we get an early goal this game only goes one way.

{Ed025's Note - big call that mate..

22 Dec 2017 19:18:55
3-1 Gooners imo. I no that's really negative but its just the way I see it going.

{Ed025's Note - very pessimistic there KR..

22 Dec 2017 20:38:09
Salah mate you forgot your lucky grundies tonight? ;)

22 Dec 2017 21:41:38
I hate being right.

Can Mignolet find religion, retire from football and become a monk before the 26th? Please?

{Ed025's Note - you would hope so SR, he is an embarrassment and cost you 2 points again mate, but in the end its klopp,s fault for picking him...fabulous game of football though..

22 Dec 2017 21:43:05
Right result ed, couldn’t have been more wrong about the game though!

{Ed025's Note - a bit boring but im not used to that watching everton hopeful.. :)

22 Dec 2017 22:21:41
Ed’s I got it wrong, I don’t have form for calling these things next time I’ll callit the other way and hopefully it backfires and we win.

{Ed025's Note - i jusr hope something red backed it, great call by him..

22 Dec 2017 23:30:49
Unfortunately I didn't Ed. Any time I've actually backed my opinion with a visit to a bookie's website I've been wrong, so I don't do it anymore.

Although I was thinking lately I should bet on Man U and Everton to win their games. Cos then I either win money or Man U or Everton drop points. Win/ win for me.

{Ed025's Note - i do the same with liverpool mate....migs is costing me big time..

22 Dec 2017 17:14:56
Wishing the Ed's a very merry Christmas. I like everyone I'm sure would like to thank you for all your selfless work and the fabulous knowledge and insight that you bring. To think that you do this for free is absolutely unreal, we really appreciate it, and I for one apologize for any daft posts I may have put in this year.
Also merry Christmas to the fellow members, although the ed's bring so much to the site, without you guy's it would be pretty boring. nothing like a few different opinions ey!
Have a good un all and up the reds tonight.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

22 Dec 2017 16:43:52
Off to the emirates tonight - *happy to write a little summary tomorrow if my fellow reds on here are interested?

*as long as we win and I'm not too hungover celebrating in London tonight 😂.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Sure, please do.}

22 Dec 2017 17:11:36
Definitely be interested in that mate, have a good evening!

22 Dec 2017 18:12:25
Yes please.

22 Dec 2017 15:17:20
If he is to start the fab 4 could go 442 again salah up top with bobby. Couts left, mane right.
Probably a midfield 2 of Hendo and can/ ox
I don't personally think he will start all 4 tho
Couts on the bench for me, with a midfield 3 of can, Hendo, ox.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

22 Dec 2017 15:33:06
Benefit of no match for a few days after today he should play his strongest 11.

22 Dec 2017 18:45:10
Can't see why we wouldn't put out our best team, been a decent break and this a big game. However, for arsenal we need to win the midfield and then free up our speedster to wreak havoc. Can see us rolling out 4-3-3 with hendo, can, Gini midfield and then one of couts or mane missing out from the 3 up top.

22 Dec 2017 18:51:23
And if fab4 start then I hope we switch formation to protect him defensively freeing him up to affect the game in the final third.

22 Dec 2017 14:05:16
Hi all Ed's and Red's just want to say a massive Merry Christmas and to your families as well.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Barry. I hope you have a fun holiday.}

22 Dec 2017 15:54:52
You too barry mate.

22 Dec 2017 17:52:30
Early Christmas present tonight please Salah.

22 Dec 2017 19:25:57
Don't you worry Barry mate, I've got this.

22 Dec 2017 08:48:31
So it looks like the club intend to increase ticket prices to " complete"

Speaking hypothetically - putting £5 on every seat is not going to pay for Mane's salary or buy Thomas Lemar.

If we want to compete, we need bigger sponsorship deals than Dukin Dougnuts! Just look at what Man United has be done since the early 90's and the success that has bought them.

Billy Hogan states demand exceeds supply for tickets - you don't say! Over 23,000 on the season ticket waiting list alone. Get the Anfield Road End extension built and you'll have more seat revenue!

Urghhhh!

Believable11 Unbelievable2

22 Dec 2017 09:54:13
I might be going a little off topic here but before I do I fully agree with your post Drogie.

I think it's just absurd the ticket prices of today. I've been to anfield once when I was younger and I absolutely loved it. I haven't been since because I can't afford it.

It really frustrates me because I have 2 children of my own now and one of them is old enough to love Liverpool and he'd love to go to a game but I simply can't afford to take him, when you consider travel, stuff to eat/ drink and the tickets it's far too expensive, I could take him abroad for a week cheaper and that's fact.

The club (s) doesn't seem to give a damn about fans who can't afford it, why not make it more affordable, it's complete and utter greed.

I'd like to be able to say to my eldest ' for your birthday we're off to anfield' I can't say that and millions of other people can't either, it's ridiculous. Especially when you consider the amount of money the clubs get from elsewhere aside from tickets lol again greed.

22 Dec 2017 12:52:12
Salah,

I thought you were in Anfield last few weeks. ;-)

22 Dec 2017 13:27:40
Drogie- your status completely contradicts itself. Your saying increasing ticket prices by roughly 10% is a drop in the ocean yet increasing the capacity by roughly 10% would make a big difference? its the coroporate side of things that brings in big money and looking at the empty seats in the main stand hospitality seating I don’t think its gone down as FSG had hoped.
FSG have stated the cost to expand the Anny Road end would take years to pay for itself and the statement they released a while back they seemed to be shying away from the idea.
Although ticket prices are high they stack up to the teams around us and Anfield is a sell out for every game so from a business stand point you wouldn’t blame them for upping ticket prices. The price people sell on tickets show that people are willing to pay huge amounts for tickets.
With regards to dunkin donuts, surely we need as many sponsors as possible to bring in extra revenue? and it’s a massive American company, Utd no doubt have very similar deals like Singha beer which puts them across in the Thai market.

22 Dec 2017 13:21:55
The fans don't realise the power they possess Drogie, just look at the Barcelona game played without fans recently because of the troubles in that region, the game was a bust without fans in the stadium, do you think all these sponsers will be falling over themselves to pump money in or Sky pay billions on TV revenue if there's no atmosphere at the ground? I'm all for buying my season ticket next season and boycott every game and stand outside, no problem whatsoever and I wouldn't be alone in that believe me.

22 Dec 2017 13:21:21
To be fair, it's a fiver. That's about £100 a season if you go to every home game. If you have enough money to go to every home game, you won't miss £100 a year.

That £100 a season per seat adds up to about £6m to the club over the course of a season. So yes, it does pay the salary of a top player.

Fans can't keep getting it both ways. You want top money to be spent by the club, but won't put in an extra £5 for each game you attend?

I do understand the reasoning resistance to the increase. Fans get exploited in a lot of ways already, and everybody wants to save a few quid. I just don't agree with it. Prices are based on supply and demand. We have more demand than supply, so the prices naturally increase.

I look forward to the hypocrisy that will surely follow this. The same fans who will moan about how football is becoming a results business and doesn't care about the fans, will then be on here in a few days time to slag off Lovren and say his personal issues are irrelevant because football is a results business and we shouldn't care about the clubs staff! Ahhh, sweet irony.

22 Dec 2017 13:25:14
Fans want so called Marquee signings, sorry I hate the word Marquee, but as soon as they mention about ticket prices going up fans go nuts, sorry but you can't have it both ways.

22 Dec 2017 14:24:50
Not contradicting myself at all. Increasimg the capacity not only boosts ticket sales but all the additional revenues that go with match day!

Bums on seats won’t pay for a Marquee signing.

United have a huge deal with Nike with others padding out the revenue, we are light years away.

I sit in the Kop and also cringe at the empty seats on a cold Monday night!

22 Dec 2017 14:54:09
Drogie, the Sponsors all get their money back off the fans. A football kit used to be £30 when i was a kid. Now it's £49.99 for the shirt, another £14.99 if you want a name and number, and £7.99 postage.

You think that Nike sponsorship is just out of Nike's pocket? Of course it's not. They're there to exploit the fans disposable income.

You think Betting agencies sponsor football for a laugh? Of course not. They're there to suck you into the bottomless pit of gambling and take some more of your money.

Or what about Carlsberg and McDonalds? Are they there for fun? Of course not, they are there to indoctrinate you into going to the pub or the restaurant after the game to take a bit more of your money.

Sponsorship isn't free. It's there to brainwash you and trick you into parting with more of your money outside of the ground.

If we sign a big sponsorship deal with Nike and then all the club clothing merchandise is £10 more expensive per item, to cover their investment, they're still getting your money by hook or by crook.

Sky don't pay for the games to be nice to us. They pay so they can charge £40 a month subscription to millions of people across the country.

Every single sponsorship deal is there to take money from the fans. So why does it matter if you spend £5 a week on a beer or a bag of Dunkin' doughnuts? Or if that same £5 goes straight to the club?

Answer? It doesn't. As a collective, the fan base all pays for everything somehow. Yet the fans in the ground seem to think they have more right to moan about results, but less responsibility to fund decent players. It's laughable. Anybody who moans about putting money into the club either doesn't understand how a business works, or has no right to moan about results on the pitch.

It is not FSG's job to bank roll success. Their job is to increase the clubs revenue (in any way reasonably possible) so it generates it's own money to compete with a degree of sustainability. £100 a year is £2 a week lads. We really going to throw a tantrum over that? Just have half a pint instead of a full pint and save your liver.

22 Dec 2017 17:24:47
It's not the ticket prices that annoy me. It's selling the best players on every single time we get one. What's the point in buying 'potential' if we just sell it on as soon as he reaches peak.
Where are we going with this? 3rd to 7th every year for the next 30 years like the last 30? It is not working!

22 Dec 2017 17:57:12
MK the retail price of a product will always increase over time, I’m in the industry so I have a fair understanding on how shirt sales effect the end consumer/ fan. The guy I sit next to at the match is the Sales Director comfort Puma so we talk regularly on this topic.

Retailers these days are looking for bigger margins in order as costs associated with the suppliers are passed down.

My point with Nike and Manchester United is the fact that Nike paid the club near on £800m to have the “logo”on the the shirt effectively. What the club shop, Sports Direct do with the merchandise is of no direct consequence.

Manchester United is a huge brand driven by successful sponsorship etc over the years, long before the huge tv deals we have today.

22 Dec 2017 18:05:53
And not everyone can afford an extra £5 and I’m sure it will be more depending on the stand.

22 Dec 2017 18:46:31
I think fans over reacted unnecessarily to the comments.

22 Dec 2017 19:40:34
Let's hope that sky and the Liverpool channel follow suit, and put it up the equivalent of I don't know, say £30 a game, if you can afford to eat out or go to a movie then you can't afford to sit in the comfort of your living room beer in hand and watch your beloved team play. Screw the people priced out of it, take the Jeremy Clarkson school of deplomicy hey, if you can't afford something then go work harder and longer and then you can.

Luckily there are people out there who care about the younger generation coming through who through no fault of there own are coming into the job market with wages driven down and the cost of living going up, and will fight corporate greed on there behalf. But round of applause to some of you here, who subscribe to the I'm all right Jack school of thought, kudos to you.

22 Dec 2017 19:50:26
I don’t know peoples financial situation and quite frankly it’s not my business it’s there's I agree with part of what you’re saying MK but not all of it. No right to complain? Football has always been a sport of the people, not of the rich. £2 a week isn’t much but if they want it in a lump sum then it gets harder for people who aren’t earning much. I agree the owners will always seek to increase revenue but fans can’t just simply fork up money or stop having an opinion.

The point about doughnuts is iffy in the sense that tog don’t HAVE to buy them, merchandise etc are all extra parts to the whole concept of the day out and being a fan but when you’re paying X amount for a ticket just to get in and then Y and Z for a burger/ pint etc it quickly adds ups. It makes it more difficult for a lot of fans to go and enjoy a sport which is for everybody.

I think if this is the case and tickets go up then standing areas need to be introduced with cheaper tickets. How many games are there over Christmas, day you have two kids a Christmas to pay for and extra football tickets then it becomes neigh on impossible for a lot of the locals. I appreciate nobody has a right to go to the game or and people should live within their means but increasing ticket just makes it harder for certain people to go which I don’t agree with.

22 Dec 2017 19:53:09
I'll miss an extra £100 a year MK, you obviously wouldn't, so this and any future rises you'll be happy to pay for me, I hope I'm not being to presumptuous asking for future rises as well as £100. If we can sort it out through the eds that would be great, I'm happy for them to swap addresses maybe? As I wouldn't like to give my bank details to a perfect stranger. Thanks in advance MK.

22 Dec 2017 23:54:44
Sorry Waro but i don't care about your personal problems. Maybe you have some footballing reasons as to why you should be in the stadium every week?

I jest of course, but honestly mate if you have enough disposable income to attend 20 Liverpool home games a year, my heart certainly doesn't bleed for you. I occassionally stretch to the refrigerated section in Aldi, when i can afford to stray from the freezers!

But i live within my means and make sure i always have savings even if it means i have to swallow my pride at times. I live in a caravan, wear clothes from Primark, fill my cupboards in Aldi, and use a phone that is 4 years old with a smashed screen. It's no life of luxury, but at least i don't have to organise a riot if my car insurance goes up by £2 a week one year.

22 Dec 2017 08:39:41
What is all this talk about Phil going and lemar coming in in January? Aren’t they both cup tied for the CL or have I got that wrong?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

22 Dec 2017 10:02:05
Just a question for the ED's on this. Why does it matter if a player has previously played in the competition for another team? Players go from team to team in the January window in the same league and can play away. Just curious.

{Ed002's Note - They are the rules. Lemar has played in the CL for Monaco so he is forbidden from playing for Liverpool.}

22 Dec 2017 11:19:43
Thanks Ed. Just sounds a bit pointless that's all.

22 Dec 2017 11:37:29
Yep its the just a rule for the sake of it.

22 Dec 2017 12:42:00
Neither wilk happen in January anyhow so not worth getting animated over imo.

22 Dec 2017 19:45:51
The rule is there for a reason. let's just say that Liverpool didn't get out of the group stage. Can you imagine the amount of clubs still in the CL who would be after Coutinho, Firminio, Salah Mane etc offering them CL football. All clubs knocked out of the CL would really struggle to hold on to their best players.

22 Dec 2017 08:11:58
Not necessarily Liverpool related but would love to hear about people’s live sports experiences. Best game for atmosphere for me at Anfield was beating Chelsea when smicer volleyed the winner- thought the roof would fall off! .

Best game outside of that was in the away section when independiente beat Boca juniors 4-3 away. Unbelievably intense experience but mass jubilation!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Dec 2017 09:16:04
My most memorable Anfield atmosphere, 26 November 1985, League Cup, (I have still got the ticket stub), a 2-1 win over Man Utd. The roof nearly came off.

If the UTD 'keeper (Gary Bailey I think) had managed to get in the way of Molby's equalizer it would have killed him stone dead!

22 Dec 2017 09:24:08
I watched Bournemouth beat Rushden and Diamonds 3-0 in League 2 many years ago.

The manager spent the whole game shouting at the ref and i was sat behind two very respectable looking blokes in their 80's (at least) who suddenly piped up and started shouting dogs abuse at the manager. It was absolutely hilarious and for me it summed up the passion of football. It even turns the old codgers into hooligans at times 😂.

22 Dec 2017 10:58:32
Villarreal v Atletico back in 2009. Unbelievable atmosphere with some top quality displays on show that game especially Marcos Senna performance. Game ended 4-4.

22 Dec 2017 12:23:23
Liverpool wise the Dortmund game, best game I've been too was when my local team Hibernian won the Scottish cup for the first time in 113 years 😊.

22 Dec 2017 13:22:09
Paris 1981 European Cup final v Real Madrid for me, I was only 10 and couldn't believe I was there, what a night.

22 Dec 2017 13:44:37
I have been lucky enough to see us beat the likes of Everton, Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal on numerous occasions although I have never seen us lift a trophy live. (don’t class the charity shield as a trophy)
I went on both Chelsea champions league semis, first one was the best experience I have had at a sporting event, the jubilation after the final whistle was amazing, the biggest high I have ever had at a live sporting event.
The Dortmund quarter final was probably the best live game I have seen, unbelievable comeback but because of the occasion the Chelsea game tops it.

22 Dec 2017 13:45:38
Dortmund vs Bayern the other week for me. Been to Anfield a few times but never for a massive game. But the noise and sights at Dortmund was incredible.

{Ed007's Note - I'd recommend everyone goes to a German match at least once in their lives. I've been to a few Dortmund games over the years as well as St Pauli matches which are just plain crazy at times.}

22 Dec 2017 16:01:32
Went to an England game a few years back it was amazing! Never slept so well in my life!

22 Dec 2017 16:40:52
Went to a Colombia international played at Craven Cottage (could have been against Switzerland) . The ground was 99% colombia fans. I couldn’t hear myself think the noise was so loud throughout the whole game. The fans were more patriots than football fans. They were cheering and chanting the players for just being Colombian. I’ve never experienced something so different to an England game.

Premier League Match Preview Friday 22nd December 2017

22 Dec 2017 04:52:31
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Premier League Match Preview Friday 22nd December 2017

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Dec 2017 07:47:22
lol what a thumbnail ed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

22 Dec 2017 08:19:08
Did the arthritic Ed025 draw that?

{Ed025's Note - no MK, the only thing i draw these days is my pension mate..

22 Dec 2017 10:43:11
Could be worse mate. Most girls nowadays draw on their eyebrows.

22 Dec 2017 12:43:27
Lol banter.

22 Dec 2017 19:52:09
The thumbnails are he best part of it! I love the effort ed puts in just adds to the excitement for the review 😂.

22 Dec 2017 02:16:17
Just a suggestion for an article for ed001 or maybe even MK. Perhaps an article or two about a player who was good but should have been great and didn't reach their full potential. Sort of like fallen stars of the game. Doesn't have to be Liverpool related. Adriano springs to mind as an example for instance. Anyway, just a a suggestion and keep up the great work all of you.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - that's a great idea mate, cheers will defo try and do something, hopefully MKS will do something as well and we can see how our choices differ or, when they are the same, how differently we viewed the player's career.}

22 Dec 2017 06:44:29
Yeah, I'm up for that! Sounds decent!

{Ed001's Note - nice one mate.}

22 Dec 2017 16:02:58
Any ideas yet MK?

22 Dec 2017 12:45:31
That'll make a great read. Look forward to that MK and Ed1.

22 Dec 2017 03:06:08
What are peoples opinions of Ben Mee? I think he'd be a great option with Gomez at CB. Do we hold any interest at all eds? I'm guessing we don't but I think he'd be a top quality addition, one we're in dire need of. Thoughts please?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed0333's Note - in my opinion I Matip, Lovren and Raggy will be phased out in the next 12-18 months as they are not of the desired quality we need. I think we’ll buy a defender in January and I’m pretty sure it won’t be the big lump from Southampton. I know Ed’s 001 talks highly of Mee (and me...you see what I did there) but I haven’t seen enough of him play. I like my defenders to be cultured as well as have some bite but I reserve judgement on him till I see more. A Centre back pairing of Mee and Gomez? I’ve seen worse at Liverpool. I still remember Phil Babb standing in the Kop giving him dogs abuse because he was rubbish and some guy nearly throttling me for denigrating him instead of supporting him. My defense was I was only saying what everyone was thinking! I’ve gone off on a real tangent haven’t I Salah?

22 Dec 2017 08:57:09
Lol cheers Ed0333 mate :)

22 Dec 2017 10:40:10
There no question that by the time next season starts we need to have our defence ready and our goalkeeping situation sorted.

Matip, Lovren and Klavan are not good enough to play for us and that is fact. We need to get in a centre back in January with an eye to finding him a centre back partner in the Summer or playing Gomez at centre back alongside him for the remainder of the season and then making a judgement in the summer. We have made the mistake of getting in defenders before from clubs who do not play a high defensive line before so I think Ben Mee would be a mistake personally.

As for the goalkeeping situation we need to put Karius in now till the end of the season or else buy a keeper at the end of the season, as Mignolet has been given far to long and cost us points after points.

22 Dec 2017 12:57:46
Spot on, Ed333. Ed01 has said that he wants to replace all three CB's you mentioned in the short term but obviously, you cannot do that in one window so expect one or two in the summer to leave provided we get someone better in.

Cy, what makes you think that a club will sell their top CB to us in Jan? Heck, they won't even sell to us in the summer as they are hard to find and get. If City are looking to sign Johnny Evans with all the money they have to burn then you know how hard finding a good CB is.

I would ask that you proceed with caution and not get your hopes up about a CB coming in Jan as that may not be possible due to the reasons shared above and NO, I don't want a CB just for the sake of it esp. since what we have been doing has made us better defensively UNTIL we can get the one we want.

As for VVD, Ed02 has said not to expect us to bid for him and frankly, I welcome that as he has been bang awful and his attitude stinks. I am fine with whatever happens in Jan so I hope you don't get your hopes up too much.
