Two things i took from todays games is that the more I watch Aguero the more he reminds me of Peter Beardsley and that for the next game Pepe should be on the bench....the Robster.

We can sit here and think about all the excuses in the world. This season Liverpool have not been good enough. The players at best have been average. Any team can have good cup runs. Look at Middlesboro and I think they got relegated after reaching 2 finals. Signings made last year have not made the impact expected. Forget all the garbage about settling into a club like LFC. If your good enough you will thrive. We should have bought quality. Quality long term replacement for Gerrard - not found, quality striker to replace Torres not found, quality defensive midfield player replacing Mascherano not found, playmaker CM replacing Alonso not found. Instead we have bought average and when you do that you have an average season. Sadly whether we like it or not finishing in the top four is all that matters now. If you win a cup along the way as well great.
Sadly I think Kenny will pay with his job. Scouting needs to be looked at. When did we last unearth a real gem?

Sounds about right !! B

Average players,, top player prices is what baffles me more

Im not happy the blue noses are ahead of us in the league the only way the players can make up for it is win the cup and see what happens in the summer.
People will talk about missed chances and hitting the post but lets be honest we are not good enough from the manager to the players everyone needs to look at themselfs its a team game.
I think you need to lay of kenny at the end of the day Kuyt should score and if he did it would have been a rugby score. Everyone has to take some of the blame Johnson for being silly with the pass and the forwards for not hitting the net. Right now all we can do is support the club the players we have and the manager.
I think in the next few years if the right choices are made we could have a great kids going through the youth system in to the main squad. Things will only get better besides two cups and a rubbish league campaign you could accept. No cups and a rubbish league campaign would be a a lot worse. A few tweeks here and there and we will be playing well and winning matches by converting chances.

Red raj

I would add some of our supporter into the "no good enough" category as well. We use to inspire the team, feed off each other. Some of our support is becoming soulless and shallow. I have been to a number of away games this season (including the Spurs game) and the support is fantastic. This was my 5 year old son's first game, did we leave and slag the payers off, no I told him to sing loud and proud all the way to the end and clap the players off the pitch.

...I'm starting to make some good money on Liverpool losing at Anfield.

Got to look on the bright side, eh?

Dr S. Atire.

Your tips would be better before the game, though.
And you'd have won more backing home draws this season, Doc.

22 Apr 2012 23:26:46
We need some winners in the squad... players who know how to kill off games and win things, that instinct is just not there at the moment.

22 Apr 2012 23:23:59
What do you think of shelvey?

Shelvey is very poor and if any one thinks he is the answer that shows why we are where we are ,he is not alone we could change 7 of the first team next year . stop hoping that players like spearing etc are going to turn into the type of player we realy need , spearing is a good lad etc but we need more than that ,we are in a mess and ok lots of people will say support the lads etc but our support will not change the fact that our current players can not win at home never mind win the p.l .wolves fans support their team and shout for their players this does not change the fact that they are bottom of the p.l. . red mick tag

You fickle fans make me feel sick to the stomach. You don't support the team the Liverpool way. You guys don't know what YNWA means. You only care when we win. Yeah it is fine getting upset that we don't beat teams like West Brom but what kind of creature hounds at a club legend like he is a manc! Please, all you guys who are constantly moaning and trying to get rid of people at the club look at yourselves and go support a club like Manchester City who will keep spending on these world beaters and keep going up.

For all the rest of you [very minimal on this site] who actually care for the club. Thank you for giving Roy a warm reception and for looking at it from a real fans perspective.

Spot on mate.

martin p

We all love the club , people vent their anger and some times they do or say the wrong thing , i do not condone booing the players or the management but they need to know some how that they are the problem , its not the fans fault so when the players are getting all the first class treatment from the club and driving round in the fab cars remember how lucky they are do you think they care about what we think they will be talking to their agents to see what they can do for them and not what they can do for us.

massive problem at the club no vision buying. one season wonders this is liverpool we're talking about. 2 in one out. 5 year plan top players in, not squad players. we have enough of them in reserve

22 Apr 2012 23:09:06
Starting to think our goalposts have been magnitized and the ball has a whopper of a magnet in it.
It's the only logical conclusion. Haha
Also our terrible form is just to give our competition in the cups a false sense of security before saving our best play for the cups. Again the most logical conclusion. Haha
Anyway my guess is that this summer will be just as busy for ins and outs but with a lot less spent. If Johnson leaves we will need another right back to cover Kelly, nobody too flash, just a couple of million, and flanno on loan. If carra retires then we need to replace him or promote a kid. We prob need cheap cover on left back, and Robinson on loan.
I think the only "big" money will be spent on a striker and a right midfielder. Maybe another big money signing for a creative central midfielder, but maybe not.
We will need to replace kuyt and maybe Suarez should he leave, but I am not convinced he will.
I would expect to see a lot more of sterling next year, well maybe not a lot but I suspect he will get enough game time to really make a name for himself. Same can be said of shelvey.

Let's not get too concerned about our league form, it don't matter where we finish. The only places that really matter are 1st and the relegation places. Were too good for the drop and not good enough to win. That's all that matters to me, winning. None of this 4th place rubbish. We would get slaughtered if we were in the champions league. Our team is not even close to ready.
It might take us a lot longer to win the league than Chelsea or man city but it will be twice as sweet because we did it the right way and the sporting way, the chavs and city fans know this but lets let them have there moment of glory. Everytime they win a cup they get a tiny taste of what it's like to be a supporter of Liverpool but they will never catch up in any of our lifetimes. :)

Please feel free to comment. Good or bad.

MIKEY

Flanagan and robinson would be better backups then loaning them out and spending millions on poor adequate cover

22 Apr 2012 23:03:15
Our midfield was championship material today alonso mascherano spearing Henderson says it all

How could it be 'Championship material' when we made nearly thirty chances? Think what you're saying. Our finishing might have been 'Championship' but the rest was fine. Which game were you watching?

We can talk about signings all day long but what is evident from this season is the need for strikers. The lack of goals is shocking.

Behave Yourselves
Just watched highlights.., 28 attempts 12 on target, can't remember those stats for rafa..Seems liked the football was good, can't remember rafas football being that
The difference was he had a finisher unfortunately we don't yet.., yet!
Do you undo all the work to start over or do you trust KK to get the right man in..,
Stick with it, we're not that far away
Just one more point, I'm sorry but the keeper went missing again.
Hang in there we will get are rewards, wembley thrice and more to come.
Pistol Pete

You say kenny will get the striker we need , well why did he not get one in the january window , thats the biggest mistake he has made and for me its one that should get rid of kenny , look at jelavic , and pappis cisse for newcastle , he has got them champs league football , kenny never bought anyone , and i think it was his decision rather than there being no money because tom werner said there was money for the right person , i think kenny done what he has done all season and that is put his faith in his signings , and all season they have let him down , also we have some very good youngsters who would bring a different dimension to our slow build up play , plus they wont moan like andy carrol does every game , he was shocking today the way he had a go at suarez for shooting instead of putting a cross in , carrol could have got 2 or 3 goals today if he could head the ball , how many chances does he want , well for liverpool a striker sjould only need one chance to score , kenny is pulling the club down to a mid table team , the likes of downing, henderson, adam and carrol are mid table players , look at the clubs we got them off , newcastle have moved on since getting rid of carol their style of play has changed for the better and they bought well in january , it will be the same next season , you have heard first of me,,,,,,,,mikey b

Got to be honest, whether it was Kenny or someone else, whoever said 'lets stick with the strikers we have' in jan made a massive mistake.
With months to prepare before the window opened, we still couldn't get hold of a decent striker? Maybe thats why Comolli got the chop?

I still want kenny gone. maybe a change in manager cud bring about a change in fortune for our strikers. Kenny erred in noy getting a striker in jan. What was wrong with buying Moussa Sow? Very similar to papiss cisse, n wud have fit easily into our style of play.

OMG! Robbie Savage actually talking sense?

22 Apr 2012 22:56:48
First things first. I have said before that Kenny was a great player and manager in the past. The emphasis is on the past now I do think its time time for Dalglish to go but I don't think this will happen until the end of the season. One thing is clear Dalglish has spent huge amounts of money on average players like Henderson & Carroll which have clearly not improved the side. Just watching the game today and it was very clear again that there is no midfield general and no creativity. Furthermore, we don't possess a regular goalscorer like a young fowler. If he had been in a few of those positions today goals would have been scored. For people to say that Camolli bought the players and Dalglish didn't it very strange particularly as Dalglish confirmed that he was responsible for the purchases. One reason why Camolli was sacked was because the owners looked at the players bought and were flabbergasted at the prices paid. Considering Camolli was meant to be a smart negotiator the results of those transactions were evidence that he wasn't what he was cracked up to be. I do think that the time is ripe to be looking for a smarter manager with some game intelligence. Furthermore, if funds are going to be tight during the summer someone like a Van Gal or Jesus Nevada are going to have to be a priority.

22 Apr 2012 22:56:01
Lots of talk about Kenny moving "upstairs" to maybe DoF.
Am I the only person who thinks Kenny would turn down such an offer?
I think his stance will be, he stays as manager or he goes.

Chris in Tamworth

Does person help pick the players we sign..if so!1 no thanks rather someone who can spot a good player..

Hi eds, I missed the game, what was Hodgsons reception like?

Thanks {Ed001's Note - I didn't hear sorry, I only caught the game itself, I was working and nearly missed it.}

He got a decent round of applause

Congratulations to Roy on his return, the club owed him that win after how he was treated

He was given more time than was good for the club when he was clearly way out of his depth at Liberpool. Do I blame him for taking the job - no. Do I blame the two cowboys for giving him the job in the first place - yes.

Hi Eds
Do you think Danny Wilson has what it takes to succeed at Liverpool? Im sure Coates will over take Carra next term but was wondering whether you think Wilson could make an impact?
LeeWils {Ed001's Note - not in my opinion, he doesn't have the necessary quality on the ball for me, I am not convinced he is good enough defensively either.}

Cheers Ed

KD has to take responsibilty for those signings an our league position.
If anyone else was in charge of our club ATT (Houllier/rafa/Woy/we would be calling for his head)
Let KD take charge of the FA Cup final then leave with his dignity (and hopefully the FA Cup).
as a true ambassador and servant to LFC he deserves at least that.
He must go at the end of the season unfortunately his signings have let him down and ultimately like comolli it will cost him his job.
Progress was never going to defined by winning the carling cup or FA Cup but in a genuine league challenge or at least top 4.
We can blame bad luck but like anything in life you make your own luck.
Those players KD has backed to the hilt have let him and the supporters down I fear none of them players know the true value of wearing that red shirt like KD does and If KD does go I hope whoever replaces him identifies those players he cannot trust and drives them to JL Airport

22 Apr 2012 22:35:24
i know when things go bad, everyone likes to blame carrol because he's our striker but our other striker ( i dont think he should be played as a striker) suarez who cant hit a barn door. if we just had someone who knew how to score just a little bit (a striker) we would be so much higher up the table.

we seemed to play worse when maxi and kuyt were takin off, god forbid making a tactical change.

Suarez is more of a creative midfielder in my opinion

22 Apr 2012 22:07:45
I think after today's result the final outcome will be that Liverpool move to a more modern management set-up. In the summer I seriously expect Dalglish to move to Director of Football and someone to be brought in as Coach (please let it be Michael Laudrup). RED LENIN

I was under the impression person helped influence who we buy... kenny hasnt exactly picked top class talent

22 Apr 2012 22:13:22

Unai Emery
Roberto Martinez
Louis Van Gaal
Andre Villas Boas

What is the deal with all the hate on Reina. I just don't get it. Reina has been a long term servant to us for 6 years. Do you not remember the FA cup final 2006 when he was excellent in the penalty shootout. Do you guys not remember he was given the golden gloves two tears in a row and at times this season has really saved us from disaster. But even today he made two world class saves and if he was from any other country he would have thrived on the world stage. In a way we our lucky he has stayed around for so long and not been on the world stage. Stop throwing your toys out of the pram

True true but its fair to say this has not been a good season for him

Totally agree. Spot on post.

22 Apr 2012 21:51:44
To all worried reds, look what we've got this season compared to last year, 1 in the bag, 1 on the way, league position is poor but gerrard has been out a lot and suarez missed 8 games, we are playing much better than we were, if we cam establish a settled squad/team with a couple of decent signings in the close then i dont think we will be so far away, 37 points is a big gap but remember who got suarez banned, we can and will improve next year and i think we will finish with more trophies than both manc clubs this term, patience and suppprt is the key here guys, ynwa

I would rather win the prem cup than the carling or f.a. cups . but thats just me ,i dont think we will buy enough players that are needed to turn the team around , maybe one or two players , but if we dont buy an attacking mid who can unlock defences then it will be more of the same very slow build up play , because all the times we pass sideways or back then the team we are playing have the time to get bodies back behind the ball , thats why theres so many in the other teams area when we have are chances , how many times this season as our strikers been one on one with only the goalie to beat , not that many , all our chances are made when theres loads of players in the box , there is no creativity in our midfield , when you get the players who should be making chances for others having shots instead of supplying then you have a team of individuals instead of an individual team , just watch carrol shouting at the other players for not crossing the ball to him or when they do cross it not the cross he wanted , so he has a go at the player , today suarez had the cheek to shoot instead of crossing to him and he went beserk , it didnt matter to him that he missed so many headers anyway , theres a bad apple in our team and unless its gone next season then we will never play like a proper team

And absolutely no luck whatsoever...

adding the two times today...that's 31 times we've hit the woodwork this season...what the hell?

22 Apr 2012 21:43:34
i got to say that this season is worse than the 2009/10 season when rafa left. i still can't believe that he left. rafa would never spend that much money on british players. i hope kuyt, spearing, maxi, hendo, adam, carroll and aurelio all go. kuyt is just useless and misses so many sitters. our midfield is just a joke. also i think reina is having such a bad season and should have done better to prevent the goal. im sorry but how on earth are we going to win the fa cup final, if we have a team that can't even score goals. all we wanted was top 4 but now we might finish in the second half of the table. if we win the fa cup then maybe i would say that its a good season, but that depends on where we finish in the league. {Ed001's Note - Kuyt was a Rafa signing!}

Here comes our Ed..against rafa....yes mate..kuyt was rafa signing...and what about..hendo, carroll, adam, adn downing..if rafa got 100 mill he would go spain ..and buy another torres.

22 Apr 2012 21:41:13
how many times have we hit the frame of the goal this season now 100 times?

I really could care less about the number.
All I know is that our strikers can't hit the target. Very frustrating.

22 Apr 2012 21:08:53
Hi Eds......great site guys!!.....i was just wondering your thoughts on strikers for next season.....i would like to see Clint Dempsey at LFC....your thoughts?

thanks

SCOUSER TILL I DIE {Ed001's Note - I like Clint Dempsey myself, we don't need a youngster, we have plenty of those, we need someone to come in and score now.}

Are we looking for a partner for Suarez ed, or new strikers altogether ?
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - it is difficult to be sure, the club checks out players for both contingencies after all.}

Very underrated player. he is getting on and would cost a fair bit so unfortunately does not represent value for money

Ive always like Dempsey, he's a touch of class in my opinion. Not really a striker though, he's an attacking midfielder or right/left winger who scores a lot of goals. A bit like Tim Cahill in a way, you wouldnt class him as a striker and nor Dempsey. Would love to sign him though, quality player.
KiwiRed

I'd say his 16 goals this season would make all the difference to us and certainly represent 'value' for money.

YNWA yeah and all but honestly Court Jester Ken has got to go. Bring back Woy for all i care. We will lose the cup final - we SCRAPED past the generally better Everton this season (who will finish above us by the way). We should sswap carol for tores cos he is better!

Kenny said after the game today that there isnt that much wrong and that we are missing a bit of luck.... No she*p Sherlock its not luck we need it's 2-3 decent strikers who are going to score 20-25 goals a season each, instead of a ginger whinger a useless Donkey.....

22 Apr 2012 21:13:21
Sorry goatherder I just do not agree with what you say.

Kenny is tactical inept no question about it. No sterling on the bench today, Carragher, Coates and Kelly all on the bench today, 3 centre halfs in effect!, can not change the system or use subs to change games, he is dreadful in front of cameras and the media, in fact he is nothing but a smart arse and aes him and the club look silly.

Kenny has been a great ambassador for the club but I think we all agree that jwh and tw will move him out of the way in the summer which is without doubt the correct thing to do and replace him with somebody who is a little sharper in terms of organising a team and signing the correct payers to give the team balance.

It will be an interesting summer and one that LFC need to get right.

MJ

Ed1 in your honest opinion do you think the time has come to move king upstairs coz I think he deserves one more season I can't see martinez rodger or deschamps taking us to next level or any proven manager coming to us very suprised fans think martinez or rodger. Should replace our king {Ed001's Note - personally I would give him a bit longer, rebuilding a club takes time.}

Is there any agree with ed button

22 Apr 2012 21:12:15
I think we all don't like the way the season is going in the league and it's sad that Kenny doesn't seem to be the right man for the job so I think he should move on at the end of the season and we should bring rafa back or even go for martinez or rodgers and give them the time and the money to assemble a squad capable of getting us back into the top four and challenging for the league. Eds do you have any idea why we didn't try and sign either papiss cisse or jelavic as we have been crying out for a goalscorer all season and these two have settled into the premier league very quickly scoring goals for fun

I agree that kk isnt the man to take lfc back to the top, however neither is rafa. a completely different sort of change is needed proberbly someone like ath bilbaos manager or even him from sporting. we need a manager who sees things differently like 2 wingers, 2-3 strikers (so they be interchanged) a midfield that is strong on the ball yet fast, a defence that knows when and how to use the ball. and also capable of protecting the goalie. we also need a manager who isnt afraid of promoting from the ranks of youth. i know everyone wont agree but thats my opinion.

Really Gaz? What spelling mistake is that?
If we had spent over 100 million I would hope we won something!
I will keep smiling as long as King Kenny is in charge :)
He has spent more money this year than Moyes has done in 10

Tree Blue

------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm getting sick to the back teeth with people saying we've spent 100 mill. Are they forgetting we sold Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Arbeloa, Riera and Babel. Do they not think that we had to replace these players?

Ozone

U still spent it numbn*ts

Sorry ozone but are you trying to say we haven't spent 100 million?

Yeah but you have still spent it

Tree Blue

Tree blue how many trophies you got in ten years you plank.

There's more money come in from player sales than transfer costs over the last 3 years. Plus the incoming players are on a lot less money than the previous lot. Conclusion, net profit for the owners. Get off Kenny's back and take a closer look at the owners transfer policy, modelled on another american owner at Villa. Look what's happened there with the resale principle, Milner, Cahill, Barry, Young, Downing!!!

Ozone

Ozone why dont you add up what we paid for torres and co , and then see how much we have spent , we paid 22 mil for torres we sold him for 50 mil then bought carrol for 35 mill , how much does that add up to ??????

I think our owner's are a bit more classier than Randy Lerner! Our owner's are a sporting group consortium where Randy Lerner is on his own!

22 Apr 2012 21:08:53
Eds, do you have any idea why sterling isn't in the first team squad when he isn't playing for the reserves either? {Ed002's Note - I can think of reasons for him not being in the first team squad but not the reserves.}

Like leaving in the summer?

The whole Sterling situation confuses me, he should be playing games, at whatever level be it reserves, u18's or as people think he is ready the 1st team.

To me this leads me to believe the rumours flying around earlier in the year about him wanting to move, which would be disappointing considering the potential he has.

After today's game its almost a certainty that Dalglish will go at the end of the season. Even though he is the king and I can't thank him enough for what he's done for the club are league form just hasn't been good enough, all I can hope for is we win the FA Cup so he goes out on a high. I was also wondering eds who do you see as the top 3 targets for replacing him if he does go? {Ed002's Note - I have no interest in speculating on this today.}

22 Apr 2012 20:55:03
With Roberto Martinez out of contract this summer do you think he could do a decent job here at the club?

Good footballing philosophy, young, and can grind out results with much less than we have.

I know you can't say much about who will take charge but I wanted an opinion about capability. And if you think he has it.

Travis Lee

Allan Pedrow of Newcastle can be next man.

One thing that LFC cannot do again is get the wrong manager! So the manager who the owner's will put in place will have a lot more experience than Martinez! A been there and done that manager!

It's clear to me that if we want to become the club we once were we need to go on hands and knees to Peter lim or whatever his name was and beg him to buy our club we need man city style money and investment. We need a new stadium it need to be state of the art and our owners can't afford it it's that simple if they could they would and I believe that but they can't, if they did we wouldn't have any money for players and we don't have enough as it is. They need to sell to a billionaire or we will stay in the mediocre pile. Second best isn't even in sight and that's not good enough, how is it that Man Utd as a club is worth 1.2billion and we struggle to sell our club for 500mil it's ridiculous! Need a billionaire who wants to fund huge losses to reap rewards in years to come

you dare question the king who by the way i adore.....
but please look at this home defeats by wigan and wba........please thats bad and oh i cant go on......
i will on the 5th be right behind us but how can we lose to them and feel we are progressing?
sometimes we have to take the rose tinted specs off and all agree we are in a rut.
all the most chances etc....that isnt getting us anywhere

Agreed. I love Kenny just as much as the next guy, but I can't remember a worse time in the clubs history... it's time to move on and bring in someone who can get the job done. There's no doubt we have talent in our lineup. Let's start winning.

I agree as soon as you say anything that resembles the truth the 'we love Kenny and he can do no wrong' brigade jump down your throat. Not saying Kenny is a bad guy because what he has done for us is amazing but there has to be a sense of realism, this season is a joke and its only because of who he is that there hasn't been a lot more vociferous discontent around Anfield. There has to be a change at LFC and whether people like it or not the evidence is indisputable. I know he's hurting like we all are but his methods aren't working, we definitely need a different approach. Just hope they get it right because if they don't and this continues into next season then we're in big trouble and I don't mean mid table.

Considering that we have hee-haw to play for in the league, why oh why are the younger players not getting some game time?? Surely now is the time to blood them as there is zero expectation / pressure at the moment.

Oh wait, you might ruin them if you play them too young. Blahdy blahdy Blah. Or just maybe it might look bad if they take the place of your expensive flops.

22 Apr 2012 20:37:10
People say that we're missing a clinical finisher but I honestly don't see how this would have saved us this season, Suarez has been unlucky and had an up and down season, carrol was always going to struggle and was never going to be able to fufil expectations, anyway my point is that I think the delivery to our forwards has been average, the entire midfield (bar gerrard) seem to be too afraid of having a go, and by that I mean quite happy to leave the ball for another player, I think liverpool need someone to take them up a gear, today was tough to watch but I don't understand this we win- kenny is king, we lose-dethrone him, it's amusing if things are that bad why not support someone else?! Cause Liverpool FC is managed by kenny and that may not change!

As we all know its not perfect! Why are there calls for Kenny out? To be fair we have played good football for the majority of the season but havent scored goals! Its the players on the pitch that should be scoring goals! Look how many chances we had in that game today! In King Kenny i Trust

What a dross. Supporters content with mediocrity are detrimental to the club.

22 Apr 2012 20:30:18
I know you should never blame or single people out but Reina should be doing much better with near post shots. Goalie has advantage at the near post. Its not even as these shots that creep past him are blistering Van Basten style efforts they are easily saveable.

I'd be more than happy to see him replaced in summer, been poor-average for best part of two years.

Watching the game I only had a few criticisms, Reinas poor attempt to save their goal, Johnson found out of position all the time at RB (as usual) and Shelvey has been excellent everytime he has stepped on the pitch for us and he keeps getting dropped to the bench? Shouldve started and at the very least should have been brought on much sooner.

Positives - Suarez was good, Enrique was an improvement over his recent form, Spearing was fairly solid. And in the first half Henderson was good but went a little invisible in second.

Nevada

Why are you blaming the wrong people? The only man to blame is the manager he's wasted millions on dog poo and his tactics aren't much better.

22 Apr 2012 20:30:16
I will like to see 3 players definately come into the squad in the summer...Javi Martinez, Soldado and Eriksen...and if dreams can come true, perhaps one of either Lucas Moura or Leandro Damiao..
A 433 formation of Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique : Gerrard, Javi Martinez, Lucas: Eriksen, Soldado and Suarez

You and another 100,00 of us,,,, here's wishing hey...

All of those players can go to clubs who can offer them champions league football but u think they will come to u for playing europa league ?? be realistic mate

Is it just me, but it really looks to me tha Pepe Reina has lost the will to live. He really doesn't seem to be trying these days. So many times he just seems rooted to the ground.as for the forwards, how can you score goals if you dont go into the box? W e need a real goal poacher

22 Apr 2012 20:27:14
I think this season has been a big disappointment. We are so close yet so far. Today we battered a team, defended poorly and failed to score. This has been the story of our season, we just fail to have the poacher to put the ball in. Suarez was immense , Carroll was ok, but failed again when it mattered. The central midfield was poor on the creative stakes and missed Gerrard, I was also upset to see Henderson in front of Shelvey as I think he would have done well today. Kuyt also had a poor game.

To summarise, we are nearly there, the build up play is good, the finishing poor. We need more squad depth to cover for injuries, a good right winger and a top poacher. If we can do that and keep hold of Luis, we will score loads next season. I am not as negative as most, remember we played Arsenal, ManUtd and Chelsea off the park this season and did not get all we deserved. Keep the faith.

I'm just gonna hop in my time machine...bzzzzzzzap!

Date: 2nd May 1993

United have just sealed their first league title for a long long time. My friend Chris celebrates right in my face as Aston Villa fall to Oldham sealing uniteds title.

Chris: "Thats it now for you scousers...its your turn to go 26 years without a title. I'm cursing you."

Me: "No chance, this is a fluke. You'll go back to the same mid table obscurity you've been stuck in for 26 years."

Growing up in an era where it was inconceivable for liverpool to not win titles I genuinely thought his statement was the dumbest thing he could ever say.

bzzzzzzzzap!

Date: today

22 years on and his curse still holds and we are no closer to winning it than we were that day when he cursed us. I dont believe in superstition but he is nearly right with his prediction. Liverpool werent just a cup team when I grew up but thats what we are at present. Here's to next season and breaking his curse.

So two s**tty no one wants to win cups so u want Kenny to sign a 10 year deal why not give him £600 mil to waste while you're at it

Lyndon

Top 4 is over rated

Why is it so important?

Even if we get into it the top 4 we still wont be ablle to sign the SUPERSTARS due to financial contraints no matter the 30m it might bring in with increased revenue

Don't you understand that?

Kenny has to build up a team to challenge for the title

Henry is not in the super rich league he cannot compete with sheiks and oligarchs

There's not only John Henry who is in FSG! It's a consortium with many investor's! JH was the founder member so naturally is the chairman of the group! So it would'nt just be his money that would be used! The top 4 is very important! if we'd of been in it now 99% of the fan's would be happy instead of screaming for Kenny's head! Being in the top 4 continuous there's always a chance to go onto the next level! and like 05 to win it!

We seem to struggle finishing off the small teams e.g. Norwich, West Brom etc... where other teams, like Newcastle, Everton and Sunderland can dispatch of a team very efficiently. For example, when Newcastle easily beat Stoke, a team we typically struggle against 2-0. Now I know Newcastle seem a lot better than us but individually, they aren't that good.

So Here is what I think our team should something like after the summer:

Manager: Rafael Benitez

In:
Luuk de Jong
Nordtveit
Stephane Sességnon
Matt Jarvis
Christian Eriksen
And other players who shine in the mid table teams

Cheers

Alright Lads,

Been informed tonight that KK is defo stepping down at the end of the season. Raffa is 1st in line followed by AVB (which i hope is not true) Massive changes going to take place which will upset a few im sure but they are 100% needed.

if kk is to go in the summer,we are not in any position to attract managers such as pep or mourinho.
alex f has proved over the last few years that the manager is the most important position at the club, just look at their squad compared to man citys and then look at the table.what we need is a young manager to boss the club long term and with the job paul lambert has done at norwich over the past few years and the fact that this guy was a born winner at dortmund and celtic, fsg should look no further.

22 Apr 2012 20:18:42
OK, here's my twopenny worth.
Kenny has done a job when the club needed him and he's done it well. He's pulled the club up off it's aspe and got rid of some expensive dross and made changes, some of them not yet the finished article and time will tell on that. He's got silverware in the cupboard, back in the Europa League and a chance of another bit of silverware. That to me isn't bad considering where we were, the changes we've made and the loss of key players throughout the season. To me, Kenny has done what he could. The players however, can't hold they're heads high and say truthfully they have given 100% for 100% of the time. Again, IMHO, they've played they're hearts out in the competitions they still had something to play for i.e the cups. However, the League is what the critics are judging them on and rightly so because that's where we really want success and this season, we've failed and fell short by a long way. To me, they started well and were battering teams early in the season but not necessarily getting their rewards the performances deserved and the longer they've gone without rewards and luck in the League and the less chance they've had to finish 4th, 5th etc, the less they appear to have the stomach for a battling performance. Almost like, there's nothing to play for so why play? Hence the tag, we're a cup team only!
More changes this summer in the right areas then I have faith that next season we'll see a much better league run. Whether that involves Kenny remains to be seen but PLEASE, don't blame him and slag him off. He knows better than most how much we're hurting and he knows the players have let him down in the league.
Thanks for reading and mark my words, we'll see a great performance on 5th May because the players have something to play for....

Hit the wood work three times and lose the game because of a defensive error.

Oh, Grrr. It just about sums up our season. The team pretty much did everything but score.

Liverpool dominated the match, but couldn't break the dead lock. It's hard because for the majority of the season, Liverpool have dominated the majoirty of matches.

We are playing direct attacking football, it's just Grrr, the bleeding wood work. If Liverpool were playing utter rubbish, i'd understand be we aren't and we haven't for many matches this season. Just freaky and enormously frustrating.

I find it just incredible that people on here still defend dalglish, you are deluded!.

Stop thinking with emotion and face facts, it is not about being dominant but picking up points to get you in that top 4!.

Eds, can you please try and explain to me why we have 2 centre halfs on the bench at home against WBA!

MJ
{Ed001's Note - I can't find anyway to defend that particular decision, it made no sense at all.}

I thought you were a Kenny supporter?

Change of heart?

Bang on, you could even drop both as you have Kelly there capable of playing centre back. Apparantly Sterling wasn't able to play due to an exam tomorrow (don't know if that's true). But surely enough couple of younger players deserve a place on the bench.

Papa G

What exactly is kenny supposed to do about the strikers not being able to get the ball in the goal?

the set up and style of play is good, i'd hate to see him sacked because of that.

They say that winning becomes a habit, well seemingly so doe's losing and it seem's that we have adopted the latter. One bad performance after another,no consistency other than consistently poor performances. We gave up in the last ten minutes today,no belief !Although i'm loathed to say it,you would never see it from Man U,Suarez must be wondering what he's got himself into.Drastic action is now needed,If our best players become resigned, and you could see it on Suarez's face today,to mediocrity, then gentlemen, we are on a very slippery slope !! Always the same on here... it seems after a defeat people need to come on here for a few days and bash the hell out of Liverpool... Surely people can see today we dominated the game, everyone knows what we need, a winger and a finisher, once we make a few signings in the summer and keep playing the way we are results will improve dramatically.

G BOX

What do u want us to say.....that it was a great performance.....
when we play great...i say so...and when we cant score to save our lives..i say that too..and this doesn't make me any less of a supporter...

true criticism not allowed..? Yes we created lots of chances but we didn't score.....they played on counter and won ...that's the truth. Hard luck?? yes but great teams make their own luck and don't say after each game...we played well but were unlucky.....

Pankaj

But of course we can complain about the way we play

The season was about Everton last week Pankaj. Cos, believe me, they fancied it big time. They were gonna put us out of the cup, put Kenny out of a job, there and then.
I don't give a bollox now. I'll be going to as many games as I can between now and the end of the season, cos maybe it's the end of an era. And hopefully we'll be running around Wembley with the cup.
The Real KB

Well they cannot knock our style of football mate, next season when we get a goal scorer a doubt we will hear from them agen. most of the doubters and critics dont sign there posts anyway so makes you think.

Seems to me that we bought a good striker and a winger last summer - more of the same this summer then?

One shot one goal
Useless. Pointless.
Put brad jones back in {Ed019's Note - What about his two great first half saves?}

Johnson one match one crap match
Blame him for the goal nor pep

Ed!
You over look them if your just looking to have a go a someone else for a few minutes

Lyndon

Tend to agree with original poster. reina has noit looked motivated all season. The saves he made in first half are what I would expect from a keeper in a team that wants Champions League football.

The goal was an error by Johnson, but just look at Reina. he was not beaten at his near post he was beaten down near the centre of the goal. There was no effort to change direction. Or why did ne not come out to close the angle instead of backing off. Casillas made a stop last night in the Real Madrid - Barcelona game that was from a similar position by coming off his line and narrowing the angle for Xavi.

A lot of the goals that Liverpool have given away, I have felt that Reina has been a little half hearted in his execution.

I think Reina has been a great servant but not sure his heart is still in it. Think Atletico Madrid may come calling this summer as they have a vacancy between the sticks. maybe time to let him go.

Maybe he needs a new challenge to fresehen him up. He is not even odds on to go to Euro 2012. Casillas and Valdez are ahead of him and there are calls for De Gea and other Keepers to go instead.

It isn't Kenny's fault that we can't finish our chances. It isn't Kenny's fault that the opposition decide to sit all their players on our 2 strikers. It isn't Kenny's fault that their is a magnet in the ball attracted to the woodwork. It isn't Kenny's fault that we are not beating teams in the lower half.

However, it is Kenny's fault that we are in a cup final and have won one already.

Leave him alone he has done wonders for this team. In the last 2 ssns before this were we ever this dominant? No.

BthekingB

Kenny has gone he will not be there next season , he gets my respect for what he has done for lfc

Correct me if I'm mistaken but kenny is a coach as well as manager is he not? therefore any consistent failing of the players is in equal measures the fault of the players and the coaching staff.

If we cant finish why has a dedicated striking coach not been brought in to work with the forwards?

Nevada

So when Kenny wins he's the reason why, when we lose it's the players fault. Cheers for clearing that up you moron.

From a neutrals point of view, who does watch liverpool games frequently, that its only now youre questioning Dalgleish' ability to manage. He won you the carling cup, which is better than the nothing my team will achieve. But you were playing 1st team squad. Dalgleish has done what he was thought best and have to respect him, but you must urge him to respectfully move on now. Liverpool FC should at the very lesat, be challenging for CL.

Alas I have get no pleasure in saying but I think Kenny's imminent departure has been sealed by today's result if it was not sealed already. I know Liverpool don't sack managers after a couple of bad results but this season has been a complete disaster.
I know we have won a cup but our results in the league would have got any other manager sacked months ago. I know people will talk about us being unlucky and we have, but at the end of the day Kenny has been let down by his signings and senior players on the pitch.
So who do we think will be our next manager? Most shouting for Rafa are remembering only the good times but with no other realistic candidates stand out and who knows with appropriate financial clout he could move us forward. Unless the yanks look long term and look for a young manager with fresh ideas.
One thing is for certain this summer will be a major overhaul on and off the pitch. fingers crossed we get it right this time.
Thankyou Kenny for all your efforts and we all still hold you close to our hearts.

Please could everyone remember that KK has won one cup and got to the final of the only other domestic cup in his first full season back in charge? And that the team of crap he has bought continue to dominate opposition and need nothing more than a little bit of speed and a good finisher to become a top 4 team?

We're not as bad as recent results suggest, we've been let down by poor clear-cut chance conversion (I haven't seen today's game but according to the stats we created 28 shots with 12 on target which is more than MU and Ev today with each team scoring 4). My point is that if we had that player and were in the top 4, what would all of the KD haters be saying? My guess is that they still wouldn't be happy.

Enjoy the fact hat we're in the FA Cup final with a good chance of beating a tiring Chelsea team. I started supporting this club when KK joined from Celtic; it infuriates me to read so much disrespect to him on these pages. Just consider what he has helped Liverpool to achieve.

Sir Masher

Few too many "ifs" there for most people liking

This is the worst we have evr done in the premier league. Fact! Not good enough. Any other manager would be out the door.

It doesn't matter how many chances you make it's how many you take makes the difference !!

22 Apr 2012 19:03:50
I was watching the game online today, father duties kept me indoors, and there was a very good point made. One commentator mentioned that we have created the most opportunities without conversion this season, amongst those an absolute bag load of bars, posts and so on, he said we were desperately unlucky for this.
The other commentator then replied that the bar or the posts are a miss and that it wasnt luck all season, just bad finishing, which i think is valid. Maybe the odd shot going to the bar is unlucky but when it is costing us games every week you have to wonder.
I really thought Suarez was a goal scorer when we signed him, and he can score goals, but he appears to be more the creator than the finisher, he creates so much but it is just not getting put away, a prime example was Kuyt when Suarez put him clean through down the right of the defense in the first half today. Fair enough Kuyt has been great this season but you dont really see Tottenham, City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal or even Newcastle this season, missing opportunities such as that as often as we do.
Would you say that is a fair analysis ed/s?

For me I would prefer Soldado over Muniain, Muniain has all the potential and creativity but that is not what we need, god forbid me say this, but we need someone like Jelavic, he just gets on the end of anything, Muniain is not a finisher, but a creator, much like Suarez.

Anfield Andy

He is right. Hitting the woodwork means you missed the target, since the woodwork is not the target. Our woodwork statistic means we are simply poor in front of goal - not unlucky.

Luck can determine a game - not an entire season.

Agree. Our highest placed scorer this season is 24th in the Premier league, simply not good enough. If Soldado can carry over his La Liga form, he should be scoring 1 in 2 games which would put him in the top 4. That sort of finishing can spread confidence to the rest of the team.

Sir Masher

Suarez is a sort of Dalglish player. His problem is he hasn't got a Rush/Aldridge type striker to play off.

22 Apr 2012 18:10:40
Ed001, I want to know your opinion of our home form. I mean, 9/10 times we have played our opponents apart, created a hat full of chances but not scored.

- Unlucky?
- Midfield not providing good enough chances?
- Lack of composure when shooting?
- All 3?

I can't put my finger on it. But what I do know is that you can not put the blame entirely on Kenny's shoulders. He gets the players playing for the team - playing good attacking football. At the end of the day, he can't do much more than he has when it comes to a lack of goals.

Cheers,
Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - there are issues that he has failed to address though. Johnson being a major one, we all know he is lazy and tends to make stupid errors of judgement, due to the laziness. Why is no one screaming in his ear all the time? Especially after Downing came on and Johnson was still cutting inside and removing the width he is supposed to be providing. Then there is the issue of lack of bodies in the box, why do we still not have men breaking into the box? There are numerous times in every match that there is one man in the box when the ball arrives. Why do we lack movement up front? Where is the pressing when we lose the ball? You can't sit back against a team that is happy to just stop you scoring, you have to get at them.}

Ed, you continuously criticize Johnson more than anyone. He deserves criticism but there are so many bigger problems you fail to highlight. I say this because Johnson hasnt been our biggest problem this season {Ed001's Note - but he has been amongst the biggest problems, especially when you consider the amount of money he earns to be so poor. He deserves the criticism more than the rest because he has fantastic ability but is a complete waste of space with his attitude. Plus, if you can be bothered to read, rather than bleat, I highlighted other issues too.}

Can not agree with the ED anymore here, i posted a long long time ago about how we never press when we lose the ball or how we never get bodies into the box, this is down to the instructions set out by someone on the management team, and as for Glen Johnson how is this guy a international ? so predictable and a major liability

Yet another game where we out played the opposition but failed to score. We have got to sort out our front line. It is ridiculous to have the amount of possesion and chance that we have and yet fail to score goals. There has got to be something wrong at coaching level. RED LENIN

Kenny will always be a legend at lfc but surely the time has come for king kenny to go i hate saying this as i respect the great man.
But the time has come for a change .the players in my opinion are a disgrace the sign of a great team is to win when your playing badly sign of a poor team to lose when your playing well.
This liverpool team have no bottle or composure 40 goals in league this season sums it up for me closer to bottom 4 than top 4.
what really annoyed me today was the last 5 mins we gave up well apart from shellvey which is very worrying
support 4 ever lfc but big changes need to be made and fast the league is our bread and butter who said this.thanks walk on.

22 Apr 2012 18:50:41
Hi All,we are struggling at home yet dominating teams it is not just the strikers that are not scoring we have no goals coming from our mid field or our wide men, still think most of our problems stem from a lack of pace through out our team, who ever is in charge in the summer our signings must have pace.

22 Apr 2012 18:50:32
so we should become chelsea then and sack our manager when he wins us a double ?

Have you not seen our league position or are you blind?

The League position will be remedied next season , things are just ticking over nicely .

There is no end to this.. how much money has this Scot wasted. Downing instead of Mata or Arda Turan. Not because he is cheap for 5-10M but for massive 20M just because he is English. f##king Clueless.

Are you stupid enough not to think he would have preferred either of these to Downing? Idiot.

Sir Masher

I don't think you know what really went on do you? Yet it's you that uses the prase 'f##cking clueless'

Eds, I think we need a complete overhaul of dead weight this summer. This season we have been a mediocre team, yes we may have won the carling cup but we constantly fielded majority first team players whereas other teams playing second string squads. Our team is a mid table team and the whole squad needs to go except ( gerrard, suarez, reina, agger, enrique, johnson). Cut our losses and start fresh. Promote the likes of pacheco, sterling, coady to the first team and uses our key players as a base for the summer. We keep putting ourselves down, we are LFC not stoke. KEEP THE FAITH
thanks

Just like last season!

So our owner want to build a young team well theres only one man for the job. Mr Joachim Loew you've just got to look what his done for the Germans.

Has someone sneaked Sounness back in charge?
Not been this embarrassed to be a liverpool fan since the early 90s. Hodgson's time was almost nearly as bad.

To all the idiots that got Benitez pushed out, not looking so bad now is he!
FSG I hope you have some sense and get Rafa back and give him complete control, no stupid directors of football and give him some funds to rebuild the squad.

Sven

And are you one of the idiots who is now trying to do exactly the same as the people who tried to get rafa kicked out, the only difference being is that your now trying to get Kenny pushed out..... you sir are a Hypocrite.

have patience, we will get there

Tel 1949

Lfc fans are the worst fans in the world for living in the past eg rafa alonso Torres (when he is clearly not the player he was due to mainly pace)

Look forward anyone can be replaced look at arsenal for example sold fab nasri and clichy and have replaced well

Totlly agree, our fans pipe on about getting back the old players and managers ! its a joke, its obvious that the second Dalgish managerial stint has gone according to plan I think he has brought too many players in at once, I would have used Maxi alot more. Dalglish will be judged on League position,. FACT

Tel 1949
Big difference is Rafa got results. KK tactics are one dimensional and teams have sussed out how to play against his resolute 442.
Patience....you are delusional if you think we will 'get there' with this squad and tactics, your aspirations are obviously a lot lower than mine as we should be at least qualifying for CL and that will not happen under KK as much as I love the guy he is struggling with the modern game

Sven

ahoy!

Apologies...A bit too late to arrive not 15th April as planed but Dalglish Coffin is ready just the final prayers and final nail left... bye Bye King,

Today was another typical suffering of what is the usual story of Dalglish era.
Wasted money thats all we can say, if we had got a real 35M pound worth of striker we should not be in the this situation. instead we paid 35m for a 10M pound striker.

It's not the problem with Scouts or who was at the Dof job. The problem is Kenny Dalglish!

hi, can someone please tell me the last time Liverpool won a match when dirk has started? again today another blatant easy chance spurned
i know some Liverpool fans love him and his work ethic but i think his creativity is a joke, he misses chance after chance that amateur footballers would embarrassed to miss. the amount of times he gives the ball away is unbelievable and yet fans of his come back to he works so hard. A professional footballer working hard should be your bread and butter. his goal in the carling cup final sums up dirks Liverpool career for me, he takes a shot that is flying miles wide it comes back and deflects off his foot into the bottom corner. dirk is a player who has played for Liverpool for three seasons longer than he should have, he is joined by at least four others who are just not good enough for a title winning squad never mind the first team. if Kenny does not wake up soon and sign players that can actually beat a defender or create a bit of quality he will be gone.

Some sense at last, couldnt agree more Kuyt is not good enough for LFC. Most people work hard in their living but its those who work exceptionally hard who excel & sorry Kuyt just does not do enough in the chances created goals scored bracket. I expect someone playing wide right to be creating chances & he's not the answer in that position.

22 Apr 2012 18:35:44
Spare Kenny Dalglish the bile ... It's clear to everyone now what needs to be done. So give me a break, I really don't want to read a stream of 'Kenny is sh*te' posts from tacky fans. He stood up, we welcomed him & it hasn't worked out. Whoever runs this club, there will be those who will disagree. Just try not to be so rude about it! Have some class.

We have four league games left.
We have won 12 games and scored 40 goals.
We are on 46 points and in 8th place.

In the premiership years (20!)
our lowest 'wins' 15 lowest 'goals for' 51
lowest points total 54, lowest league placing 8.

I am all for loyalty but we are having our worst season in the premiership and there is a good chance we will fall below some, or all, of these 'lowest' positions this year. Where is the progress - I can see none!

Puzzled

You forgot to add we've only won 5 times in premier league this season!

Hail King Kenny! Hail King Kenny! He is the man to carry us forward, LMFAO!

5 wins at home m8

Finding the balance between playing attractive football and winning matches. See Arsenal before RVP started to become more clinical. Yes a right winger, potentially right back and creative midfielder are needed but above all else what we must buy is a goal scorer. I can't remember us being quite that dominant in a game since the first few games of the season and yet we couldn't bloody score.

I like the way the team plays and can see some potentially for next season, especially with Shelvey and Henderson seemingly filling the absence of Gerrard (likely to keep getting injuries) and Adam (possibly leaving). We have some quality out wide, but Bellamy really should play down the middle more for me and Downing needs to step up his game.

The defence needs work but not necessarily strengthening. Johnson's mistake was ridiculous but he was dangerous in attack again today and him and Kuyt combined well.

I've been so damn frustrated this season and I want to scream at times, but I'll let it go now. The season is over for the league, let's concentrate on the cup final and if that goes well, then it's a good parting gift for Kenny, who I feel will step aside.

Papa G

Jesus christ !! im sick of this henderson talk, hes not a liverpool player, shelvey has more to his game, reason hes not playing is cos dalglish is justifying the 16m plus he paid for him(henderson), astonishing fee paid for him, lets face it united have so many links with sunderland i.e oshea brown richardson bardsley n so on, if whiskey nose thought he was a player he would have sniffed, but he opted not to. n then took back 36yr old scholes , you guys are saying hes gerards replacement!!!? not even a replacement for salif diao would he be.team was unlucky today, but still awfull return in the lge,
5gold stars

Forget other positions where well covered, just buy 2 goalscorers so were not putting all our eggs in the one basket again! see Andy Carroll.
kidmillions

Totally agree, it's frustrating but the difference a quick alert box player would make to the not only the results but every other players confidence in the squad.
They are all aware we struggle to score and then they themselves snatch at chances and so it goes on.
kidmillions

Henderson covered the most ground today, supported both attack and defence. Made some good crosses, hit some good long balls and played very effectively. He was extremely unlucky not to score and given time (he's 21) will become a fine player. Your probably not a Liverpool fan given the way you write but frankly if you're then please open your eyes and stop ring such an arrogant fool.

Papa G

I agree Kidmillions. The difference a goal can make is huge. Just watch Suarez against Everton last week. He was playing quite well before his goal, but after he scored it he became unplayable. Everything he tried worked and that confidence made a difference to those around him, especially Carroll.

A goal scorer is vital, but a manager/coach that instills more confidence in the training ground is crucial. We play lovely build up play but as Ed01 says, there aren't enough players in the box to make it count.

Papa G

Some like the Cretin above will always try to find a scapegoat. 2 years ago he would of been destroying Lucas on here "which he will Say no I always backed him" Now he's picking his chickens in the way of Henderson a Young lad after not even one season!!

22 Apr 2012 18:30:30
Whilst we didnt deserve to lose and the performance wasn't bad I hope the club act quickly at end of season over the management situation - for three reasons:

1) we need to treat Kenny well and move him upstairs

2) best chance of getting a quality manager in the summer - klopp?

3) the confidence in the players needs rebuilding quickly and those not up to it shipped out and quality brought in

22 Apr 2012 18:30:04
People not wanting Dalglish being slagged off? The best teams in the world constantly critisize and thats how they stay the best, Dalglish has no idea about Liverpool in comparison to the fans, as with all clubs the fans are the ones who know what is needed and what is best. Unlucky my arse, signing a bunch of muppets that the dogs on the street knew were crap isnt unlucky. I dont care how many times they hit they bar its not unlucky, its not even on target. I know he is gone in the summer so i dont really care how the rest of the season pans out as Liverpool FC is now a joke to any other side. Respect to the fans that are there home and away every week spending their money and cheering on players who dont deserve 1% of their wages. Obvious Liverpool were the better team today but the baggies gave a lesson in finishing a chance with some poise. Liverpool need to move on and show some ambition or keep the likes of Dalglish and Dirk because they try so hard and stay a mid-table team for the next 50 years. Suarez played a stormer hope they can hold onto him.

Sounds about right !! B

22 Apr 2012 18:26:21
why do we change players when the team is playing well, we battered them until kd changed kuyt for bellars....mental if you ask me.....
We need a big change because spouting about our past isnt gonna wash when we finish mid table

22 Apr 2012 18:26:20
Cannot believe that we didnt win today let alone loose the game, smashed them for 85 mins! Somethings got to change we need 2 wingers an attacking midfielder and 2 strikers doesnt matter who we sell to get them as long as its not gerrard, lucas, reina or the back4 virtually the whole system needs changing! Get a manager in that will buy spanish german french argies brazillians get abit of flair rather than the useless one way we play! Theres a reason we didnt score today n its not carrolls fault no service!

22 Apr 2012 18:21:46
Of course we ere unlucky, & ref was awful.. but how many times we have been saying this ...something needs to be done... oh I see may be change of manger is what we definitely need. Kuyt is expired. And all those Andy Carroll stats & our record against West Brom these people were saying before the match its up in the air...

Its not just a matter of bad luck but its woeful, catastrophic finishing our attackers have.

Glen Johnson does not deserve the stick, yes it was a bad blunder but if we had taken the chances and scored 3/2 goals that wouldn't have been a problem at the end of the day...

The problem is within our attackers keep the back line as it is. Carroll, Downing, Maxi, Kuyt out....

Henderson did well today I always knew that kid will flourish in the center.

I would rather not look at the BPL table. Ouch it really hurts. And to Dalglish, wining the Carling cup and reaching FA cup final is not much of a success with respect to your massive spending & where we are at the league table. Remember everyone wanted UCL qualification you have failed to achieve that. Now its time for you to leave. Thank you for what you have done so far.
Adios!

Never been a fan of carrolls and never will be he brings nothin to the team in any aspect of his game got to cut our losses with him in the summer there is nothing in his build up play and rarely gets in The right position to finish off alot of promising attacks I thought hendo was excellent today in his preferred position reminded me a bit of Ronnie whelan

Just thought I would come on and say nice result today ladies!! :)

Tree Blue

Who are you?

Haha, tree blue, am guessing your struggling with the aspect of spelling . Anyway, have everton won anything, oh yea forgot, you have had your best season for years, won nothing but in seventh place, how many times have you lost to us this year :-) keep smiling tree blue haha
Gaz b

Really Gaz? What spelling mistake is that?
If we had spent over 100 million I would hope we won something!
I will keep smiling as long as King Kenny is in charge :)
He has spent more money this year than Moyes has done in 10

Tree Blue

Please tell me what Moyes has achieved in the 10 years he has been there?

My mistake then thought you were saying true blue.
And the fact that he has spent it, we have won one and in the final of the other. Gaz b
Carroll 35 mil,
Beating everton three times in a season, priceless.
Gaz b

Taken us from a relegation side to a top 6 team on a very tiny budget!!!

You cannot slag Moyes off for the job he has done..... So less of the stupid questions :)

How is it Kenny's fault when all the players on the pitch are missing sitters!?!?

Yes he brought those crappy players he should take the blame.

Because he bought the players

Yeah he bought the posts too. Bet he even moves them magically from the sideline so the ball does not go in.

22 Apr 2012 18:27:45
Lets just concentrate all our efforts on the cup final. I would not be opposed to playing sterling on the left and bellers on the right but that might be a tad to attacking for our current manager! Is it really 23 years since we won the title? Are we really 43 points behind them? Lets ship out the under achievers (Adam, Downing, Caroll, Henderson 85 million??) and bring in some over achievers
SOS the Spanish waiter!! Miami_red

22 Apr 2012 18:19:04
Liverpool Obviusly wont part company with dalglish at the moment though he should as the final's coming up. Win or losehel not be here next season i think thats very clear. Though when it happens i think the owners will be smart and it will not be a sacking it will be mutual consent so its like dalglish has decided aswell, for me the legend dalglish is he should see it aint working and walk while he keeps dragging the team down, although if he was to walk while we down hed have his critics, but how big is this summer really. Its masssive new manager new director of football new signings new shirt designer massive massive summer it could make or break liverpool

22 Apr 2012 18:16:57
Kenny to leave in the summer?
Rumours seem to be gathering moment with all the stories coming out recently..

How would everyone feel about Rafa coming back ?

ed who do you think will be the new manager if he was to leave and have you got any information on what the clubs transfer policy will be in the summer ?

LFCHero :)! {Ed002's Note - I really don't want to speculate too much on who will be the manager after the summer.}

To me the deal is all ready done, yes Rafa will be back. Fsg got rid of DOF who's to say he will be replaced, we all know Rafa would want total control and only resently Kenny was praising Rafa for the work he done to the academy....Bobbinred

'it was a lucky win, liverpool were by the far the greater team and we was under some serious pressure in the 2nd half but sometimes you deserve a bit of luck for the hard work you put in'

roy hodgson after the game, fairest analysis from an ex manager who appreciated the warm reception he got from both sets of fans. he also said this result sums up liverpool's season.

Always liked him as a man. Was treated badly, yet, a man of integrity.

Well done WBA & Roy.

22 Apr 2012 18:16:27
eds wth is going on with LFC? KK has turned us into a mid table team at very best. After todays result we should not hesitate in sacking KK now never mind when the season ends lets do it now as he is woefull. the team is woefull and obviously not responding to KK so now is the time for him to go and bring someone else in.

i wouldnt trust KK for another season or we will be relegated, as his results dont lie

the s**te we have playing at our club is beyond belief how can we be considered a theat to any of the top 5 when we so clear;y struggle against a mediocre team such as wba.

yes we had all the chances but lets face it how many of our starting 11 wold get into a UTD, CHELSEA, ARSENAL, SPURS team not many if any on current form i would see 2 (suarez and reina)

Massive over haul needed in the summer to be honest starting with the Manager

Midland red {Ed002's Note - It is pretty obvious that the season has not gone well and that the target has not been met. The best I can offer is to say look forward to the FA Cup final and what will no doubt be an interesting summer. A win in the FA Cup means there is no need to have four early Europa qualifying games - that is now a decent target to think about.}

Perhaps the 4 warm up games will be good as we will be hitting optimum levels before most other teams ?
derryred {Ed002's Note - I doubt anyone will see it that way - it means returning two weeks earlier in the summer, when the club is going to be blighted by the Euros and the Olympics taking players away.}

Reina, Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard & Suarez would all get into those aforementioned teams...

Not taking into account form if course..

22 Apr 2012 18:11:46
Kenny out now. He should not be at the club another second he is crap like the team he built.

Oh here we go.. Kenny out brigade.
28 shots at goal, 12 on target.. id say the tactics were right, the team was right.. so why is this Kennys fault?
Something isnt right with the way the strikers are unable to convert these chances.. one defensive mistake and we got punished for it, same problem all season.. its not the manager that needs to change its the confidence of the strikers to score goals!
ItsNotRocketScience

There's nothing wrong with the team, the amount of chances and corners we create is enough to finish most teams off. It's tactics that need to change. Get more men forward in attacks and move the ball quicker in the final 3rd would see a massive improvement in our goal scoring. It's all well and good having 28 shots at goal, but against a packed defence with only one or two men forward forces the man on the ball to take a shot at goal, often snatched at, over anxious with no composure, they are not all goal scoring chances at all, there should be other options open to the man on the ball instead of just having a go Bobbinred

Sack kenny he is useless

22 Apr 2012 18:10:46
Kenny you have turned us in to a joke . F off and take your crap players with you! worst win percentage of any liverpool manager in the last 15 years how are you not on jobseekers. Kenny you will never get a job again at this club

Bit harsh!

You are no LFC fan.

Im surprised John Henry would make such a bold statement before the end of the season. Please please please keep together as a unit until the fa cup is decided.

I dont care if we win the FA cup(unlikely),kenny should still get the sack.

Hi Ed's

Could see this coming a mile away. talk about frustrating. We are not good enough,Its that simple. The league does not lie.We will be lucky to get 50 points this season.

1 cup and another final does not make a good season.

Is SG injured?

REDFORLIFE (A truly frustrated fan)

No point slagging off kenny guys. Tactics were spot on, lady luck has deserted us completely. Why is this happening to us? After watching such a wonderful performance n still losing, how does it feel ed001? I nearly broke the TV set in frustration. Man of the match- Henderson.
Indian Buzzer {Ed001's Note - It really was a jolly fine display and one feels most disappointed that we were unable to score the goals necessary to swing the game in our direction.}

Do u think this is all down to luck or lack of composure in the final 3rd ed? I think maxi, kuyt n carrol messed up big time with the chances they got. On another day, all 3 of them wud have taken the chances.
Indian Buzzer

Sorry ed but in my opinion team who makes from nothing becomes champion rather then team who waste their chances.I m big fan of Liverpool from India and I thought at the end of day the winner takes all.Now i am waiting to hear from Daglish that it was wonderfull display without getting reward as most of us listening this all of season.
Indian Rajiv {Ed002's Note - Football is a results based game but encouragement can be taken from performances. It has been a bad season for results. The FA Cup is an important target and I am sure the team would appreciate some support. Things will change over the summer and everyone can look forward to a new season and this will be forgotten.}

Same old same old! Absolute joke. Fine display?? Haha

Aldos tash

If this happens for a few games in a season I feel it can be like that for teams, but this is one whole season and I can't help but think there's more to it than lady luck!

Just heard something interesting, a friend of mine has just told me something big, he says he knows somebody high up in Liverpool. Evidently Kenny is moving aside at the end of the season, the reason is that Steven Gerrard will become our new "player" manager. Kenny will be there to support him, like Joe Fagan, and Bob Paisley were there for Kenny. This will probably turn out to be crap, but you never know. My friend isn't prone to talking crap.

Sooty

Will be a mistake if true...

Apart from this time that is. Of course he's talking crap!!

So FSG are pushing for relegation!

poor performance tbh made so many chances just don't score suarez was the only one trying aswell as skrtel and agger. johnson is a $hit defender for a right back and he should start to wonder what he does for that 90k wages.

22 Apr 2012 18:05:24
Liverpool are closer to relagation than they are to 4th

Well they're not going to get relegated ARE THEY?

Why are you crying for yes it isnt that good but after the arsenal defeat we knew 4th wasnt on. kenny is building for next season as any other top manager would do at this point. he is giving hendo a go in cm and he was class. carroll only needed to take his chances but he played well and linked up with suarez well. agger had 2 great chances and we were very wasteful, but even barca are wasteful. i think kenny has done a great job for a team in transition and if it wasnt for our wastefulness we would be in and around tht top 4

HI,I think every Liverpool fan now knows its time for a change of Manager, I am not going to slag KK off in anyway because at the end of the day he loves our club just as we do, He is and always will be a hero to us and has given his all.
We need a Manager that can and will take us forward and that means buying the RIGHT players to do this. We have been very poor in the league this season....ok we got to 2 cup final, But ask yourself this...would you swap the 2 finals for a crack at the Champions League next season?. I would.
Who is the man to take us forward?, We have had to many false dawns,We need a Manager that will deliver.
My choice for what its worth would be..Pep Guardiola but its if the owners can offer him everything it would take to get him here and also if he wants to leave his present club.
Just saying it as i see it,
Thanks,
Bobby.

I like Pep Gladiola but Barca have just lost their last 2 games at a crucial stage of the season. If Pep can't get the best out of that squad at Barca? Well I seriously doubt his credentials? ;))))
kidmillions

He would never leave barca to come to us so lets be honest with ourselves there is not many out there who wold now i personally like a Dechamps to come in but again why would he we have a poor team and there is likely to be no big warchest come the summer

It's time for Guardiola to leave. No team can maintain that level of performance, and the only way for Barca to go now is down. He has done a great job, but it simply cannot last. Nothing does.

Managers would love the prospect of coming to lfc if you ask me, there are good owners, a prospering academy and a young squad
derryred

To the poster's who want Deschamps as manager! have you saw where his team are in Ligue 1! cannot spell his team's name! there about 7/8th! why would we want him? Only one man for the job and that's Rafa!

Unlucky lads, Thought we played some class passing footbal at times today. Henderson seems to improve in the centre all the time, Saurez did everything bar score.
Hope people don't start slating KK again, been really un lucky this season and with lady luck on are side we could easily have 20+ more points

Bilverstone

Well said matey. Good to see some positive talk. If we play bad and lose I'm all for a bit of grief but when it's more to do with bad luck and bad finishing you don't need to start the Weekly witch hunt!

Correct post will be lost in all the knee jerk reactions.

I posted recently that a 5th place spot but only a few points behind 4th would be a better season next year and I got lambasted by some on this site.

Today is a perfect example of why I think this is true!

Every season for the last 23 years I've thought, here we go, title push!

However, I'm becoming more realistic with my expectations. Next season 3-4th should be the minimum target obviously, but we're now 16 pts behind just 4th and 37th behind 1st. Those above will strengthen with quality because of the draw of the champions league¦

Or can someone please tell me why I should have different expectations other than¦

We're Liverpool football club; we should not expect anything less. Clear definitive reasons why¦

Its not about expectations its about bringing in a world class manager who will ensure we are challenging for top 4 next season.

Bring in Mourinho, give him 40million, replace johnson, kuyt, spearing, adam and maxi, promote sterling to the first team, bring in a new DOF and change the backroom staff...this will GUARANTEE top 4.

In life there are people so good at their jobs that you can guarantee they will achieve success...Mourinho is one of them.

We need to go and get the man, go all out. It seems he wants to leave real and where else can he realistically go? He wont go to italy, he wont go to barca, man utd dont need him yet, if man city win the league they'll keep mancini and he wont go back to chelsea as long as abramovich is there. That leaves us and tottenham if harry gets the england job.

People are saying its unrealistic Mourinho will come but if you break it down and think about it we are more or less his only viable option when he leaves real.

We have to spend the extra millions it will take to get him here.

{Ed002's Note - Mourinho has plenty of options when he leaves.}

The owner's have got plan's! they know that LFC are global and know they need to rectify the situation and get us challenging sooner rather than later! As a lot of poster's in the know have been posting that there's gonna be big change's at the club in the summer! The owner's left this season in Kenny's and Comolli's hand's! We've came up short in the league! they'll have a more hand's on approach next season! i can see us challenging next season! if not for the league certainly a top 4 spot! these owner's are not soft! and hopefully pull a few rabbit's out of the hat! Player's and manager wise!

I'm sortof happy you know because our league season realisically ended when arsenal came to anfield. it ended early so it gave kenny time to experiment for next season. shelvey would never have got as much game time, hendo may not have had his chance at cm, sterling mightnt have got his cameo etc. i think this is the kick off season for what will be a very strong squad of players in the following years.
derryred

Ed002 what are these options you speak of?

He had publicly stated he has no interest in a national team job, he will not go back to italy, barca wouldnt have him after managing real, there are no other teams in spain he would go to, bayern dont need him nor would he be interested in any other german team and the portugese league is out the question.

What are these options you speak of?

Chelsea wont have him whilst abramovich is there, man utd dont need a manager yet, arsenal will stick will wenger and it looks likely man city will keep on Mancini.

Again, what are these options you speak of? I am eager to hear them.

His only options if he leaves real madrid at the end of the season are liverpool and tottenham.

Please dont waste my time with a sarcastic silly response...I genuinely want to hear what other options you think he has.

{Ed002's Note - You were doing OK and then decided to have a dig at me for no reason - which seems like a really dumb way of trying to get any sort of response.}

Luck now has nothing with this its just poor finishing and coaching..plus I am tired hearing this crap about we play beautiful football..blackpool played football got relegated..champions win 1-0 playing bad and win championships..
With spending 100M+ this league form is not justified even with cup double..5 home wins all season..

Asp sad fact this season has brought upon me is that I no longer go into Liverpool games thinking that we will, more hoping that we will at least get a draw and even that is disappearing I now hope that we won't lose. The only times I feel we will win is in the cups, but the league is abhorrent and is the same each week
Regardless of the fa or carling cup kenny should leave in the summer or he should be forced to as should some elf the absolute tosh that he has signed, most notably downing who in my opinion has done jack s-/7 all season.
There was no way we could lose that match, but we did. Hard to describe the game but I'm not surprised at the result
Wonder what the excuses will be this week

Andy gets only three good crosses but what how many balls he fed to his teammates including 2 very good balls to henderson in front of goal. Why are we pissing andy if he does not get service. Our best player take 20 shots but score zero providing crosses near to zero. How can blame andy for not scoring as hero score O in 20 and we expect zero to score in 3.

Suarez put in lots of great crosses

Time to face facts folks, we are absolutely sh**e. No deep analyses, no fancy terms anymore just sh**e. Never been more despondent than this and I've completely had enough, not saying what the owners should do but if they don't act I think Chelsea will take us to the cleaners, they've got their act together and we're getting worse.

Were you the one that said Everton would take us to the cleaners in the semi?

Bet you haven't even seen today's game?

Mate if you think that we can beat Chelsea playing like that then you need to start claiming disability as you're obviously blind. Are you one of these blinkered idiots who thinks no-one should slag the team off? Get real, everyone has a right to have a blast when things are so bad and being dillusional doesn't help does it?

22 Apr 2012 18:02:18
Teams must love the visit to Anfield guaranteed 3 points and we help them score! We need goalscorers cos we should have won today at least 3 or 4 nil. JH has a lot of rebuilding to do hope he's up for it! Here's to next season

22 Apr 2012 18:01:59
Poor reporter who has to get an interview out of dalglish after that dross. He will probably get a Glasgow kiss when he asks Kenny what went wrong.

Dross!!
You really have no idea what your talking about.
Fair enough slag him off when they play badly but when it's down to bad luck and bad finishing WIND YOUR NECK IN

Bad luck, you mean the complete inability to score a goal and resting the captain for no reason

What game did you watch? We played well, it was bad luck and poor finishing that cost us. Just need a 20+ goal scorer.

22 Apr 2012 18:01:52
Where do I start??

Very poor first half, we were much better second half. Not able to put the ball in the back of the net has been our problem all season, I thought Kenny had lost his mind during the summer transfer buying midfielder instead of a goal getter now it official I was right.

I blame Kenny for the mess we're in, his waste too much money on average English players.

Mr Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

22 Apr 2012 18:01:35
I think it's safe to say Bye Bye Kenny now, these results are now expected and come as no surprise to me personally now. Regardless of cup success a potential bottom half finish isn't even close to being good enough. We are now just 3 points ahead of Norwich in 13th and 4 points above Stoke in 14th which is seriously worrying (no disrespect to either team). Can't wait for the season to end now, i'm glad there's only 4 games to go otherwise we could be in danger of going down into the Championship. I hope the owners see these results and act upon it.

Hans

22 Apr 2012 18:01:12
This has to be the end of the road for Kenny. He doesn't deserve this but there has to be a change in direction now. Pity. I had hoped KK would be the one but it'll have to be someone who's had success in a competitive league. We also need to bring in quality players. Macca has pointed to big changes in the summer. It has to be this way.

22 Apr 2012 18:00:46
Hello Ed002,
I think today score seals KK fate. If anyone has any doubts he's gone. No other way. And so will a few players. Another home defeat and this time to WBA? Give me a break...FA Cup is the last important game this season. Sorry to see this great club struggling in the league so much this season. Owners to make big changes in the summer. That's my guess.

22 Apr 2012 17:59:48
37 points behind league leaders
15 points away from relegation
2 points behind everton
not good enough! Move on Kenny. Please!

22 Apr 2012 17:59:26
Is it a knee jerk to call for Kennys head? I'm just fed up of being in a bad mood because of depressing displays like today. This is about the 10th time we've done this at Anfiled this year... sighs, may as well give him till the end of the season but if we finish behind the bitters.. I'd rather not even imagine it!

YNWA! (Adam)

22 Apr 2012 17:58:29
This is just getting worst. We need new strikers and a new midfield. Sick of dreadful play in front of goal. Players positioning is also awful. Kenny, his staff and half the players need to go. This is starting to feel Souness like (ie poor players not good enough for LFC and the laughing stock of English Football)

There's nothing wrong with majority of our players. Just need a decent finisher and some luck.
ND

Spearing, henderson, downing, kuyt, carra, adam, caroll should all be sold in the summer

22 Apr 2012 17:58:28
I pray for a final win, i have my ticket and hope kenny can go out with dignity.

Agree. I went to the League Cup Final, Semi Final and going to the FA Cup final. We may have been rubbish in the league but two potential cup wins will see Kenny go up stairs smoothy. We just need a striker and a creative midfielder and we will be fine.

22 Apr 2012 17:58:11
ha another great result... nice one lads.

22 Apr 2012 17:58:09
That's it. Kenny is to be politely moved back into his ambassador role in the summer regardless of the FA Cup outcome. Big, big changes on the way (thankfully, as watching us loose to a mediocre ex-manager and WBA is humiliating).

Why won't we change the manager. It's just not working, why do we keep waiting, waiting, waiting. Chelsea changed their manager it's making a difference. We are just a complete Joke, any other manager would be dead and buried now. Bring in Jurgen Klopp. NOW.

Hessle Red

No point now let Kenny see out the season hopefully with a final win and then let him go

Hans

What as having 30 shots at Goal and not scoring got to do with the Manager!!

Lyndon

Is there any point? We arent going to get into the champions league. Kenny has got us to the cup final, surely you let him manage the team until after the cup final or end of the season then let him bow out

That was because their previous manager was a to$$er. It was bound to get better. Chelsea haven't got that much better, there still not gonna hit top 4.

22 Apr 2012 17:55:27
very very dissapointed we could not even get a goal how sad is our form at the minute. But we will keep going on and supporting but in the summer there has to be some serious buys. We do not show enough fight.
hibsylfc

Serious buys
I might put a bet on Jarvis to be the no 10 in August

22 Apr 2012 17:54:43
what a absolute joke , west brom deserved this today , we been outplayed and outfought, we had nothing in the middle today, i honestly fear for the future of our club, this team are only taking us one way and thats backward, so so frustrated with liverpool at the moment the players should be ashamed of themselves if this is all they have to offer.

tommyc

You obviously never saw the Game then!!
Unbelievable Comment!!

Care in the community is obviously not working

'outplayed'? Which game were you watching. If we had won 6.1 no one would have blinked. We were so all over them it was untrue. How did Dirk's shot into the post not go in? Desperate luck and no goalmouth poacher.

The only team we are lucky against is Everton

22 Apr 2012 17:54:10
if anyone thinks we are gunna get anyone half decent need to think again we cant even beat WBA! its a disgrace, how are we going to attract decent players by coming like 10th in the league, awful, kenny needs to step down and we need a manger who can do good in both the league and cups!

Why on earth would you want to keep johnson for RB he is shocking

and as for trying to pick our team next season where do you start as we are rotton to the core we have maybe 3-4 players who are any good thee rest are poor

22 Apr 2012 17:53:39
hey lfc fans..........

im not suprised we didnt get 3 points today

il never be a fan of 442 with our squad
simple as that

we do not win games with 442............and if we do..........we usually scrape the win

lfc with this squad...is much much better and solid..with 433........
and thats the bottom line of it.......

i blame kenny cos he picks the team and formation, until he goes..we will be crap..
so i hope things change in the summer

22 Apr 2012 17:50:58
SO FRUSTRATING!
It's hard to watch us dominate games and not punish teams. Worst thing is we weren't too bad! Long played well for WBA though. We gave up though after 85mins

22 Apr 2012 17:50:57
Woefull, Dreadful,Clueless, shocking finishing from Liverpool today and all season.

Don't care whatever anyone thinks but you can't tell me that by playing Kuyt and Maxi today when they will be gone come the summer is a positive step forward by the manager...

All season KD tactics have been embarrassing yes we've won a cup on penaltys and are in another final but the league is a disgrace for a club like ours...

Again we are nowhere near the top 6 in squad depth or goal scorers or goal makers absolute rubbish not good enough..

Please Mr. Henry get the P45's ready and get rid of these wastes of space...

The Grand wizard

22 Apr 2012 17:50:43
Well I hope the Liverpool fans are now realising that kd is simply not up to the job, our finishing is a disgrace and why the hell will he not put a few kids on the bench. What is the point of having 2 centre halfs, 3 if you count kelly on the bench at home against WBA. Our league form is dreadful and unacceptable for a club like Liverpool. If I was John Henry kd would be moved out of the way and replaced with a much smarter young man, ATP forward mr Martinez.

MJ

I like Martinez but didn't WIGAN lose 8 games on the trot earlier in the season.

22 Apr 2012 17:50:18
Dalglish looks lost on the sidelines. He doesn't seem to have the ability to change tactics during a game., just replaces like for like substitutions.
WBA fans chanting "getting sacked in the morning". I don't think that's too far from the truth. Maybe not tomorrow, but definitely removed from his position at the end of the season

22 Apr 2012 17:49:39
don't know what has happened recently, but it is embarrasing. we must be the laughing stock of the premier league.

Not the laughing stock, that belongs to Arry and his flops, but time for Dalglish to retire for good this time.

What an absolute disgrace, we can't even beat a s**t team like West Brom. Our finishing is a joke, it's no wonder we are where we are in the league. If we play like this against Chelsea were going to get mullered.

But we won't and that is the point kk only cares for the cup

We deserve to lose 22 shots and no goals? At least training is going well !!
It's time for kenny to step down

Kenny doesn't make them miss chances, he picks the team.

Sooty

Kenny can't score the goals for them, the players must take the blame for missing the chances.
Nothing wrong with the tactics, just poor finishing, refereeing and luck.

If there's nothing wrong with tactics, why do we hardly have anyone in the box?
Why does no-one makes the near-post and far-post run when a cross is about to come in?
We camp in the opposition half, but from the edge of the 18-yard box onwards we can be very poor.

The tactics are utter garbage though

Kenny went and got these players, kenny trains the players, kenny picks the team ,the buck stops with kenny.

I believe a simple transfer policy of the following would work perfect:
if the player in question would not get in the starting 11 of united, arsenal or chelski then do not sign them!
We need to sign players better than our rivals. Simple as.
Jayo

If they could could get in the starting 11 of one of they teams they wouldnt sign for your lot.

CT13

What nonsense!

MR EM

If they could get in those starting line ups then they would not come here
Simple as that we are not big and not good enough anymore
In football terms would you rather challenge for the topics and champo league or the scarp for 8th, I know which I would rather have, and it's not 8th place

That is the big problem. We are looking for Superstar fix players, where we should be doing a Newcastle, looking for good cheap quality. Remember the old day's, Keegan from Scunthorpe, Highway from Skelmersdale United, Case from South Liverpool. Good scouting is the way forward.

Sooty

What are you talking about, he never mentioned anything about the manager being changed, He said big big changes.

Ok then....I hope the big big changes are that we have a new manager in charge for the start of the new season and that there will be an announcement that we will be redeveloping Anfield into a 65,000 seater stadium.

Anyone know anything about interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, would find it ridiculous if we were not even linked with him this summer as I've heard he has an 18 million buyout clause and is very good friends with Kuyt and Suarez from the Holland Team with Kuyt and Ajax with Suarez where their partnership flourished, he has been on fire this season.

22 Apr 2012 17:17:08
Suarez is good player but be honest he is a bit selfish. Kuyt is not the player for Liverpool anymore. Bellamy in now kenny or finish with draw .

What do Liverpool's youngster's need to do to break into the 1st team? even a cameo role. Why are there 3 defenders on the bench? Drop Henderson play Shelvey... common Kenny at least have Sterling on the bench, we are so negative it's untrue. I for one am bored to death of there team selections.

Totally agree. It took a while for me to realise he's actually a decent pundit as I found his accent made him sound clueless. That being said, I still can't help but smile seeing him after results like this for united!

Defo not as hateable on the panel as he was on the pitch!

Sorry but I agree. He's easily the best on Sly by a long way. He's quite prepared to criticise the mancs and he actually knows what he is talking about - almost too honest at times for his own good. Absolutely hated him while he was playing but I'm happy to give him a chance as a pundit. Good so far I would say.

Attendance at old trafford today 75k+. Every match played we lose ground to them in the tune of 30,000 seats + massive corporate revenues. How long do we need to wait until FSG enlighten us to what's going on and even start delivering?

I trust that they are aware of this fact and are striving to do something about it.

Dara D

Read a good article yesterday about the new stadium/redevelopment situation and the summary I got from it is that the most likely and profitable solution is redevelopment of Anfield up to 60,000-65,000. I have faith in FSG that they are working hard behind the scenes to get this to happen ASAP but these things take time.
As much as a new state of the art stadium would be nice I think to stay at Anfield will be fantastic if this can happen.

New stadium does not magically lead to a winning trophies. Ask Arsenal. Redevelopment will be enough.

It's our scouting, player development, player transfers, coaching, and tactics that need work, more than the stadium. Newcastle is the example.

I'm not saying it will lead to trophies but will help us compete financially. Which gives us a better chance of competing on the pitch.

You trust FSG? Why? What have they delivered?

22 Apr 2012 13:33:50
New Dof is likely to be be appointed after we resolve our managers position. It's almost certain that Kenny will leave at the end of the season.

So Expect new manager to be presented along with the new Dof.

For managers position I would guess someone from these three: Didider Dershcamps, Jurgen Klopp, Unai Emery.

But I wouldn't rule out Rafa Benitez either.

It's gonna be a massive summer as mentioned by Macca

Klopp would be potentially amazing. Would he leave? What a team he has built.

This morning's post by Macca sounds a bit ominous !
The Real KB

It does indeed kb, I imagine it could only be manager, stadium or owners but my guess is kenny will stand down and go upstairs, who will take over? Not a clue.

Mo

Rafael Benitez is coming home!

You might be right Mo. The eds are of that mind. I think if Kenny is moved on / upstairs, FSG may want to appease the fans. So it will have to be some 'recognised' name.
Me, personally, if they can get the ground issue sorted, I will forgive them just about anything. That is holding us back so much.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - To be honest KB, it was appeasing the fans that ended up with Dalglish being given the job on a full time basis. They will certainly not be listening quite so hard in the future.}

I don't know what it means for the club but I know that sort of comment is going to make or break Macca's credibility

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note -

Fair point ed002. But I was surprised to learn that John Henry rings people like Paul Tomkins. While this is all very worthy, consulting the fans and so on, it does seem as if FSG are reaching for 'on-the-ground' info though.
They clearly have a lack of general English football experience, and specific Liverpool experience also.
There would be no doubt that cutting ties with Kenny would hurt a lot of fans, especially of my age, and I think FSG may be mindful of that. I just wonder, therefore, whether Kenny would still be retained in some capacity.
Of course, he's a very proud man, and any other role apart from manager would have to have the necessary gravitas.
If Kenny is dropped entirely, and there's nothing forthcoming on the stadium, I wouldn't mind a one hour telephone conversation with JWH, I can tell you ed002 !
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I have said before that whilst Dalglish was agreat choice to steady the club temporarily, giving him the permanent job was a mistake. Although the club does have a great history it really now needs to start looking forward and making the changes that will reshape the business for the future and put the club on a firm financial base. The cliche of "success breeds success" is generally true in football and don't be mistaken in to thinking there is not a significant change coming that will within 10 years probably see the end of UEFA as we know it. Then it really will matter which side of the fence the clubs fall.}

I presume that you're talking of a European Breakaway League ed002.
And new tv / streaming deals etc.
FSG no doubt have one eye to that. But a little part of me (the nasty part !) is mindful that the Americans did pick the club up at a good price, when we were down.
I think that there is significant money to be made, by them, selling the club on at the right time.
However, that is still some time off yet.
Like I said, if they can figure out the stadium conundrum, they would go a long long way to being totally trusted by the fans. Cos they haven't got mine yet.
And if they drop Dalglish entirely, my trust will be lessened more so.
The Real KB

Maybe the owners are changing our kit to blue!

Ash

That's already happened Ash !
That 3rd kit is bad enough.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not been involved in the discussions over the past couple of years for a break away and will not be involved next year either. The importance of this in the short term is probably not an issue, but in the mid to long term it has very significant ramifications.}

What would be the 'qualifying' criteria for joining a European breakaway league ed ?
How many clubs could be involved ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Without going in to too much detail: (a) A number of clubs take the opportunity a once or twice a year to discuss various issues including changes in rules, television rights, the power of UEFA, exploitation issues for new technology streams, etc.. These discussions, the last of which were on August 25 last year, also always turn to the possibility and structure of a breakaway pan European league. Several are ex-G14 clubs, several are not, and some clubs decline involvement in such discussions. (b) The plan is that at some point a number of clubs would break away from their national leagues and UEFA. They accept that they would be banned from all existing club competition and the players would initially be banned from all FIFA competitions as well, but know that FIFA would be looking to negotiate in any case. It would be the end of UEFA in all probability and UEFA are very aware of this. It would also result in a restructuring of many of the national leagues. (c) The clubs would renegotiate their television rights, rights of distribution via other streams etc.. (d) It remains the greatest fear of UEFA and all major national authorities that one day this will happen.

In terms of numbers it is impossible to say but the meetings generally attract attendence from 15 or so clubs.}

It all boils down to media rights. If LFC ever get to negotiate their own TV deal, the club will multiply in value overnight.

LA Dodgers just sold for 2.1 billion USD. Despite dramatic fall in attendance. Why? Because the media rights come with the club. And they are not close to LFC in worldwide fan base.

22 Apr 2012 12:31:57
Well I think I know what the owners fenway sports want an I must say I want that also .The thing is to find young talents for a bargain and se them prosper into real stars ,in that way they can offer them bigger wages and keep them in the team and if they are sold they surely will bring good money to the club. The wrong with team now is that most of the players are bought in expensively with big wages from the start and by leading a team that way you can only drag the club down in the gutter.
It's all about smart acting!!
So no Cavani ,Lavezzi ,Messi,Muniain or what ever the name that is to expensive...

To all you guys that said commoli could not talk after he's exit are now looking like muppets tel 1949 he has done interviews in france {Ed002's Note - Just to be clear on this, the interview given in France by Comolli did not touch on any issues aside from the need to take some time off to spend with his family (who had stayed in France) and to perhaps to eventually consider a role with a Ligue 1 side or a broader role in sport that was not necessarily related to football. This other "story" comes via some "friends" of Comolli who have spoken to several media sources to try and "sell" a story about Comolli complaining that Dalglish would not listen to his suggestions and always had players in mind who had already appeared in the Premier League.}

Having watched us all season i have to say that King Kenny has to go, i love him to bits grew up watching him play BUT i think considering his signings non performance he has to go. Take newcastle for example, they have had crucial players either injured or unavailable throughout key moments in the league but have been consistent and i think will get fourth. We NEEDED 4th but have been no where near all season, 2 cups are good but we needed to be at least challenging for 4th spot. What do you think ED's? What is your feeling? watching the geordies in 4th makes me feel embarrassed. - Molby Diet

What a season so far!!

Yes we have been disapointing in the league, but the difference between success and failure these days is sometimes very small. Poor decisions by refs, posts, injuries etc. Weve had our fair share of problems but the Luis Suarez debacle has proven to have had a huge affect on our season. The UK press AS ONE attacked our beloved club at every opportunity.

Ferguson initiated the Suarez affair by dragging Evra to the ref, but the repercussions of his slimey move and the way we handled it were bad.

Our football at times has been excellent to watch, and our triumph at Wembley was great. To beat the blue noses there too was yet another wonderful day plus weve got another visit there to play in the FA Cup! Our season has been sporadic at times but certainly not poor.

This year weve had THE GOOD, THE BAD and THE UGLY, but we have come through it and things are eventually looking good for us.

Players have come through difficult times eg Suarez, Carrol, Henderson, Spearing, Downing etc. We are blooding young talent in Spearing and Shelvey and hopefully a few more in the summer.

The season has been full of emotion at times, and after all isnt that why we support our wonderful club? To see Kenny with tears in his eyes when we qualified for the Carlin Cup was so emotional for me.

His first season back and hes taken us to Wembley 3 times, if you count the wonderful semi against our old enemy. Yes Im happy, I never expected us to win the league but i was hoping wed get in the top four. That hasnt happened but I have enjoyed this season more than most in the last few years.

Kenny will take us to new levels, he is a winner and the team spirit is becoming immense as a result of the turbulence weve just experienced. At the start of the season Suarez and Caroll were like strangers, now they are good pals who appreciate each others skills.

I love being an LFC supporter and may it long continue

Tel 1949

Post of the month.

As diserpointing as the league form has been If we manage a domestic cup double you have to call that success. I know you are judged on where you finish in the league but you also need to take in account the performances and I feel a few class aditions in the summer and we'll be alot better off.
Oviously Kenny's not going to be Liverpools long term manager but think he should get another season in charge

After watching arsenal Chelsea yesterday, it was hard to believe it was the same Torres playing in a blue shirt as the one who used to dazzle in a red shirt.
What has become clear in the past month while drogba has start only a few big matches and Torres the rest, is his fellow forwards seem to have such little faith in him they seem to avoid passing him the ball.
When I watch him now he reminds me not of a deadly goal mouth poacher like Michael Owen in his hay day, but more like David NGog on a bad day.
Drogba could be injured for their semi in Spain this week, Torres may well be thrust into the lime light that he craved and used as his reason for leaving Liverpool for chelski.
lets hope he continues to look like a rabbit staring into the headlights of an on coming car.

I hope you are wrong.

Nothing will help us win the FA Cup more than for Chelsea to make the CL final. I will be rooting for Chelsea on Tuesday.

I guess half the posters on this site don't even watch the matches- Downing's had quite a good month and looks to be improving nearly every game since the final vs Cardiff!

McSnuggles

--------------------------------------------------
So 4 games to go in league season he is finally improving..May be we should as for knighthood for Mr. Downing and his efforts last month..I guess thats what you get now days for 20M..A months improvement..Boy thats expensive..

Red Indian
PS:Just Say be better next season and accept that we have been pathetic in league..16 points behind Newcastle..Kenny knock sum sense into Mr. Downing for next year.

Can thinkof soo many occasions including 2 last week were Downing has whipped in balls to the box that just needed a touch to convert. Unfortunatly we have struggled to get players on the end of them. Is that downings fault? If we had a RVP in our team he would of had loads of assists by now

BBC GOSSIP (nothing about Liverpool today but I thought these stories were interesting)

Manchester United are targeting Everton left-back Leighton Baines, 27, as a summer replacement for ageing full-back Patrice Evra, 31. Everton's tiny coffers could lead the Red Devils to offer just £5m for the England international.
Sunday Mirror

Nineteen-year-old Athletic Bilbao winger-striker Iker Muniain, who received his first cap for Spain earlier in the year, has caught the eye of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson. But the Old Trafford club will have to shell out £29.5m for his services, according to the player's agent.
Metro

Former Dutch masters Edwin van der Sar and Ronald Koeman have both criticised Chelsea for playing anti-football against Barcelona in the Champions League. "For the sake of the game and for football in general, I hope Barcelona win in the Nou Camp," said former Manchester United goalkeeper Van der Sar, 41.

TMAC's level headed and considered post has forced me out of retirement.

Those of you who followed me will remember I went on record, claiming FSG will obtain a record naming rights deal and build a new ground (city's farce excluded). I said if it didn't happen I would stop posting. Seems I under estimated FSG group's greed and over estimated their commitment to the club. They had more than exceptable offers on the table and have pushed for more and more.

Anyway back to my point. Chelsea, arsenal and united turn over a higher revenue than Liverpool. City and chelsea's owners mean we are 5th in the pecking order in terms of finances in the prem. Which unfortunately counts for more than prestige these days.

Our natural place in the english league is 5th. We have cleared our squad and started anew. With the majority of players brought in being young it was always gunna be a long term plan. Anyone who thought we would be competing with city after 1 transfer window were deluded.

We have won 1 cup and are in the final of another. Without spending crazy money we have to build long term. Those questioning signings and Kenny need to get a grip. We need to give them time. In the modern era of forums and social networks fergy and Moyes would never of had the time they needed to deliver. Uefa financial fair play and home grown quota mean things are changing. Sugar daddy's all over Europe mean we are no longer the big players we were under Benitez. Were not the big wage payers and not in CL every season.

Therefore we are gunna have to build from the ground up.

Give it time {Ed001's Note - or you could just have been lying, because they never wanted to build a new stadium at all.}

They will still build the new ground. Fact. The naming rights deals already on the table now make it the cheaper option. FSG are living on the failures of the previous regime. {Ed001's Note - fact? Right, of course it is.}

You have my email address. If we don't build a new ground you have my express permission to distribute it however you see fit. {Ed001's Note - yeah, because I am really going to waste my time with childish little actions like that.}

Who are you mate, and are you sure you just havnt come in from a saturday night drink like i just have.your post is a mixture of normal common sense and an alcohol induced rambling, time for bed

We SPENT crazy money on long term. carroll, henderson? in the normal world have a combined fee of 25m and that is WITH potential. yet we spent 50m if that isn't crazy money then up is down.

This would be Huyton Red, lads, if you remember. Who was adamant that there will be a new stadium with a ten year £25m / year naming rights deal.

Its pretty clear that there will be no new ground , anyway , I am pleased about that , if we can increase anfield to maybe 60,000 , everyone will be happy , you cant buy history , and soon , we will have a team and ground that we can be proud of , I would rather we stayed , and build on what we have , 3 class players and maybe 15,000 more seats , come on you reds .

I read in 4-4-2 magazine a while ago that said if every team (not just Liverpool) had scored instead of hitting the post we would be 4th... and that Suarez has hit the post more than any other. The point I'm making that sometimes luck doesn't go your'e way but at the same time we have reached two finals at least winning one and that's football, Chelsea has had a below par season and there fight for the Champions league final and the F.A cup. In football you just have to simple take a season as it comes as there is always the ups and the downs for all teams. -McMenemy

Thats not bad luck mate its sh--te strikers.in your normal day to day job if the people hit their targets every month for 12 months and you didnt unlucky doesnt come into it.they where better than you

An interesting view, and one I tend to agree with. We have not enjoyed much good fortune in the league, but the Cup successes have been more than sufficient compensation.

Since the post isn't the target, hitting the post means you missed the target. If it's done repeatedly, "unlucky" starts to wear thin.

Long story short: we need to buy someone in the summer who can hit the target more often.

To 2nd poster: Barca have lost their last 2 games and hit the woodwork 5 times?
Does that mean that Barca have got s..t strikers? Or maybe they've just been unlucky same as we've been.
