Ed's and everyone.
Who is your first choice for right back next season?
Cheers C {Ed001's Note - Kelly.}

Thanks mate, I am agreeing with you here, what would you do with johnson? sell him or play him more right wing? personally i'd sell him as I feel we will get a couple of wingers in, in the summer plus we have flanagan for cover.
Cheers C {Ed001's Note - keep him to play right wing, left back or right back as needed.}

Question Ed
Could you give me a list of names
you know who we are after

G-Man {Ed001's Note - I will have to set up a page specifically for this because it would take ages to put together a list of players we have had watched etc. I will speak to the other editors and we will decide the best way to do it and set something up. What we have currently set up is not designed for us to post, it is purely for editing post.}

You could table it with columns for 'rumoured', 'known interest' and 'likely'.

Your thoughts? {Ed001's Note - good idea, we need a space by each player to type in any extra info we get as well I would think. We have a bit of time before the window opens for any ideas people have about it.}
- - - - - - - - - -

And the dreaded rating out of 10?

You could add a current and potential rating (like FM)?

I can see how this could easily get overcomplicated

P.s. Is this just ideas being thrown around or is there actually being a page put together? I think it's a great idea and would cut the amount of spam on the rumours page a good deal. {Ed001's Note - there will be pages put together, probably set up by club and player, so you can look either way.}

Jokes aside. .
Gerrard Houiller was not a well man towards the the latter stages of his management at Liverpool FC. .
In fact he was very ill and the board feared for his health. .that is no sh*t.
I think we should show him a little more respect. .

Mascherano looking to return to Lfc. . cud this be true??

I hope not ? he went on strike (fact) no rumours no excuses . .I am not playing against Man City .com !
W*nker glad to see the back of the moody man. .

Hey Ed. i know we've not been linked with him much but what you think of Krasic? ive always rated him since i seen him play against manure. you think he's a player who would be a good addition? Cheers ed {Ed001's Note - looks good, hard to judge though, playing in Italy is so different, as we have seen Dossena looked class there and he couldn't adjust to English footie. I feel sorry for Dossena, he worked so hard to try and make it here, staying back for extra training etc, he deserves respect for that, it would have been easy for him to just do the minimum and go home. But back to Krasic, Italian football is so slow that you have to give a player time to adjust, I am not sure we can afford that right now.}

'That'll break his bloody heart' ?
ha ha. Houllier saying this? I think not.
Will Ashley Young be going to Liverpool? I doubt it, if I'm honest I don't want him to, but this is utter tosh.

Would like to see the views of people on who should come in for each position, just abit of fun, copy & paste what's below & give your answer as their number (apologies if the player you want isn't up):

Centre Back: 1)Rolando, 2)Cahill, 3)Dann
Left Back: 1)Enrique, 2) Baines, 3)Kadlec
Centre Mid: 1)Defour, 2)Banega, 3)Adam
Left Wing: 1)Dzsudzsak, 2)Downing, 3)N'Zogbia
Right Wing: 1)Young, 2)Payet, 3)Perotti
Striker: 1)Sturridge, 2)Wolfswinkel, 3). .? (brain's gone)

Obviously I've only mentioned players I feel are viable options. Choose your own Striker as #3 if you wish. Mine would be 1-1-1-1-1-1 :P. Would love to see everyone's opinions tomorrow, that's if I get re-posts. .

Night all, c'mon you Red men! 2-0 my gut feeling.

Carlos Slim has a stake in FSG does this make Liverpool the richest club in the world? This guy makes Bill Gates look like a pauper. Big things are going to happen in the summer ALL THE PLAYERS KNOW THIS KK will be given a very large transfer budjet but it will be kept hush hush to keep transfer fees at a reasonable level , how do i know this i was at a BBQ with our young right back two players were mentioned Defour and Lukaku. This is the first time ive posted believe or don't believe I don't mind all i know is the burgers where good

Kyrgiagos is a bit of liability in the box, he has given away far too many pens this season. Ross

He reminds me of a Grandad playing football with his Grandson in the park. He tries so hard, he cares so much, and he will usually win the aerial ball, but once that ball is on the deck and he is being run at, at speed then he is f****d.

Aquilani next started for Liverpool in their 2 0 win over Bolton Wanderers, where he got his second assist for Liverpool, again setting up Dirk Kuyt. He scored his first goal for Liverpool on 15 March 2010 against Portsmouth and he also assisted Fernando Torres for the fourth Liverpool goal. He was voted man of the match by the fans on Liverpool's official website. Aquilani also gained the man of the match award in his next Liverpool league start, against Fulham in a goalless draw at Anfield. In his next start for Liverpool he finished the match with three assists during a 4 0 away win against Burnley On 29 April 2010 he scored a goal against Atl tico Madrid in the Europa League, cancelling out Atl tico's first leg goal from Diego Forl n by scoring moments before half-time. Despite a great performance from Aquilani on the night, Liverpool eventually went out of the semi-finals on the away goal rule after Yossi Benayoun had put Liverpool 2 0 up, as Forl n scored his second of the tie in exta-time to take the aggregate score to 2 2. Aquilani won the LFC Man Of The Match award again after his performance.

He did better than people think, and when fit will be a quality adition and would work with suarez aswell.

If he does want to leave we should buy:

Alonso
Defour
Pjanic

Could you not have a drop down list, and then a row of columns next to it with the relevant information in it, this way people could quickly select the player they want information about. So it would be a like a simple access database. Hope this makes sense Ross {Ed001's Note - I suppose we could then do one database for all the sites that way. But it would be a huge menu of players after a while! Might be easier than a simple list though.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
I think which ever way you do it, the list is going to be massive, the rumours at the moment are crazy, and in 6 weeks time it will be going into overdrive, Could you add in some kind of search function, so you could search on Names or Teams. Ross

Kyrgiakos might not be the fastest, particularly on the turn, but that's not really his game. He's all about dominance and keeping attackers at arms length and dominance in the air. He's certainly seen off players like Kevin Davies who has given other sides, with supposedly 'cultured' defenders a nightmare. Anyway, he's wholehearted and a proper red: straight out of '300'. He'll be superseded by others but he's never given less than 100 per cent to the cause.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

To be fair to Kyrgiakos he always seem to put 100% into his apperances. But i'd much rather have a player who is both dominant in the air, and good on the ball. There's plenty around.

Resting quietly after yesterday's heart scare, Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has inadvertently let slip the destination of his want-away winger, Ashley Young - explains Sports Writer of the Year, Damian Twigley.

Speaking on his mobile this morning to striker, Darren Bent, Houllier had no idea that ace reporter Twigley had earlier hacked his way into his private iPhone, with a view to securing an exclusive on his state of health.

Instead of which, Twigley found himself listening-in to some red-hot transfer news.

"How can I possibly tell Kenny Dalglish that Ashley won't be joining Liverpool", whispered Houllier.

"Don't worry about it boss", replied concerned Bent. "You just concentrate on getting better. Leave the Dalglish business to me".

"Will you ring him then", said Houllier quietly.

"If you like", said Bent.

"But make sure you don't offend him. Kenny's a good bloke".

"Sure, I'll be very gentle", said Bent.

"I'll just tell him Ashley can't stand Liverpool, doesn't want to live amongst a load of Scousers and has already found himself a fabulous house only a mile away from Manchester United's Carrington training ground".

"That'll break his bloody heart", said Houllier.

"So what", said Bent.

"You could do with some company as you get better".

Ed do you think that there is any truth in this??. it seems a load of bullsh*** but then again you never know. . thanks. .

Hu. {Ed001's Note - that is complete nonsense, Bent has nothing to do with any kind of management at the club. Houllier wouldn't delegate responsibility when he was in danger of dying, he is certainly not going to delegate it now to a player! I would think Gary Mac would be upset if he did anyway.}

Just Type Damian Twigley into Google. {Ed001's Note - is it some kind of spoof journo or something?}

Ok, the suarez factor, a player who has the fans on the edge of there seats because you no you could see something special when he gets the ball, like what he did against united and at sunderland. all im trying to say is that the players that we are likely to be interested in are going to be interesting other top clubs, we can't offer the champions league so the very best quality will be proberly out of reach, so the market we would be looking at is the bracket below, . . . . you no, we get ashley young but we really wanted sanchez but couldnt get him type scenario. maybe a big player, would make the likes of sanchez consider an offer. {Ed001's Note - Sanchez is not likely to join for two reasons, one Udinese are messing everyone about with ridiculous demands, two no one is convinced he is up to the EPL's physical demands. We are Liverpool FC, that carries as much weight as being in Europe, if a player doesn't want to join us then we shouldn't consider them. If this club managed by the King himself cannot tempt them, then they have the wrong attitude to play for us anyway. It is the kind of thinking you are displaying that always ends up getting the smaller clubs relegated after a season or two. They start going for players who just want to play in the Prem or in Europe, they will work hard to convince them to join and then wonder why they end up in trouble. It is simple, the players don't care about the club and so they don't live up to expectations. We need to look for players who want to join us because of the honour of pulling on the red shirt and playing for Dalglish.}

agree completley mate, we should want players that want to play for the shirt, but players these days are motivated by medals and money, every team in recent years has brought there success, chelsea especially. football has in many ways lost its identity in that sense, when you think of past players rush, fowler, dalglish they played for the club they loved, these days many players just see it as a job, and want to play for the club who win the most or pay the most. . shame really.

Liverpool are planning a triple Premier League swoop as they look to improve his Anfield squad this summer. The club s new owners are ready to hand boss Kenny Dalglish significant funds and the Scot will make moves to sign Blackpool playmaker Charlie Adam, Birmingham City defender Scott Dann and Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing. {Ed007's Note - Do you guys wait for me to come on to start about Charlie Adam? Matt 27 {Ed001's Note - you are wrong, Cole is paid less than VDV and there is a huge difference between the two. Cole was a free signing for a team with no money, VDV was a 'marquee' signing for a team with money to spend. What is this Suarez factor you are talking about? I would rather have the 'Dalglish' factor myself of letting him decide on the best players for the team. Rather than picking them because they are a big name. We would never have got players like Rush, Barnes, Dalglish himself etc if we went with your idea. It only works if you have lots more money than the opposition teams buying big, because you have to keep buying big every season.}

Matt 27 {Ed001's Note - because I would rather we got back to buying players purely because of their ability to play on the pitch, rather than their ability to excite the fans and team mates. By the way holding up VDV as an example is not a good one, he can barely play an hour a match, gets huge wages and has done very little in actuality.}

i said vdv was a marquee signing for spurs!
and as for how much he gets paid im sure its less than joe cole, . . . . who would you rather have signed in the summer? maybe we see things a little different but don't players that excite the fans tend to get a response from the rest of the team? it would be great to have one or two other players with the 'suarez factor' on the pitch at the same time, would you not agree?

Just typed in Reina on google and got this.

Pepe Reina already appears to be planning to spend next season at Liverpool, warning his team-mates that it is essential that they avoid another horror start to the campaign.

Pepe Reina's future has been the subject of speculation throughout the season
Reina has been widely linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, with Arsenal a known suitor following a rejected bid for the goalkeeper last summer. Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in a player who has, at times, seemed disillusioned this season.

Matt 27 {Ed001's Note - I don't see a need to sign a 'marquee' player at all. Just players to improve the team.}

can i ask why you see no need for a 'marquee' signing, doesn't have to cost the earth, but a signal of intent from the club, players have said themselves that they get excited by rumours of certain players being linked with club. could you imagine the buzz if we signed a 'sneijder' or an 'alonso'. vdv was a marquee signing for the spuds and cost very little, the price tag is not important in my eyes its the quality of the player im more interested in.

matt 27 {Ed001's Note - because I would rather we got back to buying players purely because of their ability to play on the pitch, rather than their ability to excite the fans and team mates. It's gotta be Amoo but hes out on loan. {Ed001's Note - Kelly and Sterling are pacy as well.}

anyway to more important things i am not one to post wish lists and quote my milkmans window cleaners brother who knows someone or other but i do like reading all the fantasy stuff.in my mind i am happy that the king is in charge and i believe he will be for a few years to come and in him i trust if kk says he is the player i want then i want him too and i don't care if he is a big name or not just that kk says he will better our team and squad then that's all i need( i have forgiven him for david speedie many years ago) but if 10% of the rumours are correct we are going to be one hell of a team next season and the title will return to where it belongs - kk has already proved this season what he can do with average players and an average squad god help the rest when we actually have 7 or 8 great players more.

Hey ed, great news about the deal in place next season regarding warrior sports. a swift return to the champions league, the 25m from the shirt makers and the 20m from the current sponsor and that's some serious money, then theres gate receipts and shirt sales on top each season. this to me is extremely clever, as the finacial fair play ruleing is gona hamper so many clubs across europe, our profits are keep us up there with europes top clubs. im delighted with the current regime, good owners, a great manager, good coaches just need to improve the first team in the summer.
right then ed on to players, do you think like me that any marquee signing if there is to be one should be made first? it would only take one big name coming in to make others sit up and take notice!
many players if young enough would miss out on cl football for one season if they can see the intent by the club to be challenging for honours in the near future.

matt 27 {Ed001's Note - I don't see a need to sign a 'marquee' player at all. Just players to improve the team.}

I would like to know why the Ed's get frustrated over jokes at Fernando Torres.?

He will never find out,

He can't access the net.

MPez {Ed001's Note - because it is boring to read the same stuff over and over and over and over again. Jokes have been done, time to move on and talk about something new, especially on the Liverpool pages as he is no longer a Liverpool player.}

"We have been watching a lot of Porto games recently , and the name Hulk has been the player linked with , but it is Rolando the centre half is the main reason we have been scouting Porto. and before you ask me my source. It is TK"

Don't remember seeing Rolando play. . is he a ball playind defender or a "hoofer"? In my opinion teems need both.

I'd only sign 4 players this summer: Phil Jones from Blackburn for central defence, Marc Albrighton from Villa for right wing, Jordan Henderson from Sunderland for central midfield and Eljero Elia fro HSV for left wing. Would be a terrific piece of business in my view. . But, probably we stand little chance with the first three as other Premier League clubs would want us to pay through the nose. Hope that we'll get Ella at least.

Hey Eds. . . . Keep up the good work!
How's about people saying what they DON'T want to happen in the Summer??. . .Could be simpler.

For example, instead of limitless wish-lists of largely un-realistic "targets" it may be better to invite "un-wish" lists. I'll get the ball rolling with the following;

I don't want to see a future subs bench of Cole, Kyrgiakos, N'gog, Jovanovic etc. Subs means substitute not sub-standard!

I don't want us to let Pepe go. .he's under a legal contract of employment so hold him to it!

I don't want a different manager.

I don't want shed-loads of "young French prospects" recommended by Comolli . . .remember Houllier's crappy signings?

I've got loads more to get off my chest but that'll do for now.
Let's just stuff the Brummies tomorrow and hope other results go our way.

I have my reservations about the new warrior shirt deal.I know 25mil is a huge amount but don't you think it will affect our shirt sales?
addidas is a huge brand and as outlets all over the world, thus making the merchandise more easily available to the fans.
I have never heard about this warrior company here in aisa(while addidas is present even in the smallest towns), and thus affecting shirt sales as they would not have access to fans like addidas do.

please correct me if i'm wrong.What do you think ed? {Ed001's Note - I would think they must have plans in place to ensure distribution of the shirts etc. I expect the club shop will make sure to always have enough stock anyway.}

but there ain't any liverpool fan shops here in india/ aisa and the online shop ain't everyone's cup of tea.

My wife says the exact same thing. Difference is she is the cats mother lol. {Ed001's Note - what does it mean?}

I'm still trying to figure that out.

My mother was fond of quoting this - it is considerd impolite to refer to one's olders and better simply by pronouns, or at least it was amongst her generation. You should refer to people by their correct name for the most part, although the occaisional use of 'she' is OK.

Why cat? A male cat is a 'tom', and the female a 'she' (or she-cat) hence 'she' is the cat's mother. {Ed001's Note - thank you for that, it actually makes sense now.}

The only way little Jay would beat them three, would be if he was riding Frankel ( horse racing new superstar ) I think jay could have made a good Jockey.What do you think Ed? By the way, I am not slagging Jay off, I Just think he is slower than the other three.He has got a lot of guts though. {Ed001's Note - he is very slow, but he is improving that, they must be working on his pace because he has definitely improved and is much closer to other players in terms of his pace. A lot is reaction times and work rate mind, he doesn't lack for effort which always gives him a chance.}

ED When will Warrior make their first shirt. Adidas have already made the away shirt for next season (looks good) and the current home top is for next season as well. Ed whos faster spearing carragher kyrgiakos or poulsen.thanks DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - oooooo, tough one, I will have to ask who wins out of them in the sprints in training. I would say Carra was the fastest but these days I doubt he would be. In a short burst he would probably still edge it, Soto and Poulsen don't have the acceleration and Jay is just generally lacking in pace. Anyone been to watch the lads train recently and seen them race it out?}

22 Apr 2011 18:48:50
Hey Ed I love the spearing sarcasm. I think we do need a bit more pace in certain areas A centre back and a winger who can play both sides.which area for pace would you strengthen us Ed? {Ed001's Note - defence, it is the defence which most struggles for pace, especially when Carra is playing. Kelly is very quick, at centre back that would be a big boon, but he is such a good right back I wouldn't want to shift him inside.}

According to the daily mail stats, Andy Carroll has been our fastest player this season. Defiantly shows our lack of pace within the team. {Ed001's Note - those stats are complete nonsense, the players do sprints in training and Carroll is not the quickest. Next they will be claiming Spearing is!}

22 Apr 2011 18:21:25
Rolando, would be an ideal replacement for Carra an experienced, quick, strong, good in the air, footballing centre back.A portugese international who has one yr left on his contract and he will turn 26 in the summer.A host of clubs being linked with him Roma, Juventus and a small club down the east lancs.We have a real chance of getting him through our deals with porto and Rauls connection with the player.If it was this guy or Cahill and Shawcross, then it would be a no brainer.He was quoted at 20 million plus last season, so at 12 million he would be a steal.He has real quality. Porto have won the league this season and you don't do that without a strong defence.I am not saying we will get him, but he is the reason we have been scouting Porto.A class act who will improve which ever team that gets him. I hope it is us.

I have never understood the concept of a grown man (sorry mikey if you are still a boy & I am having a go at you) having another mans' name on his back. My children have names on the back of their kits (Gerrard & Alonso respectively [my daughter went back to Alonso after she gave away the number 9 a few months back]) & that is OK. But I cringe every time I see a man with any type of jersey, with most being NFL here in the states, and the name of a professional athlete on the back. I support LFC, not one player specifically in the squad (remember "no one is bigger than Liverpool Football Club).

I would like to say thank you ed001 for the idea of JFT & 96, that will be on my back from now on when I pre-order my top for next season.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I see nothing wrong with supporting a player like Kuyt, Gerrard or Lucas (among others) who are team players and work hard for the logo on the front of the shirt. When it comes to players like these, I will still be proud to have them on my shirt even if they end up moving on to another team.

Hi Ed : I have been thinking about this new shirt deal and the clubs other sponsors. I mean we are talking a lot of money here especially the new deal with Warrior, and if its true the Nascar one as well. The point I want to make is that the Warrior deal is worth £25 million a season, that is more than Nike's deal with manure and Nike is a global brand I don't know about Warrior but I know they are also big in America but probably not as big as Nike. Do you think that maybe a world class player/ players are on the cards to help sell the shirts for Warrior. I mean that would explain such a massive deal woulden't it ? {Ed001's Note - no, the massive deal would be explained by it being a company that has no foothold in Europe and so it is using us as that foothold. We are already the fourth biggest in terms of shirt sales, there is no need to buy a player to shift shirts, we buy them no matter who is in the team.}

@Smplfc

- I think you're quite right about not buying overpriced English players, seeing as though we have about 5 from the youth coming through (fingers crossed). But A.Young only has 1 year left on his current deal & I think he could be signed at about £12m? That's a good price in my opinion. The foreigners you mentioned, N'Zogbia? I'd go for Dzsudzsak without doubt. He looks too good for that league just like Suarez did. I'd go for Enrique, he has everything a full back needs. Benzema? Doubt it very much, Sturridge is a good option, fits the bill & seeing as though Chelsea look like spending big again he could be signed at a good price. I'm with you on M'Vila, he'd be a fantastic signing. Hazard & Sanchez aren't in our fish bowl, slight opportunity for Hazard maybe, but forget Sanchez. For the right wing I reckon maybe Young there? Would stop him cutting inside so much & would encourage him to cross it. Or Payet, he looks a class act also at a good price.

Stone YNWA.

Kenny Dalglish has asked Steven Gerrard whether he wants to stay or go, the Liverpool captain being plagued with injury this season. He has been linked with a 30,000, 00£ move to Manchester City and AC Milan. I would personally be gutted to see him go, but I think we're coming to realize that he is no longer needed, with Meireles, Lucas, Spearing, Shelvey playing in his position, and Alberto Aquilani perhaps coming back.

I would love have cheik tiote of newcastle. hes excellent in a tackle and a tidy footballer with good feet and is a good passer. also still young and could provide the bite in midfield that we desperatly miss.
certainly better than some of the players mentioned on here, and wouldn't cost too much either.

what you think of him ed?

LFC-IRE {Ed001's Note - good player, done well for Newcastle, has the bite we lack and need, I would say he would be a decent signing.}

22 Apr 2011 16:44:33
{Ed001's Note - I am a little shocked you talk about not buying average players then suggest N'Zogbia!}

Personal opinion i know, i'm not saying he is world class but we need pace on the left and i can't think of many better that we could get. I think Downing and Adam Johnson are both good players but being English may cost alot more, who knows i've never tried to sign someone beofre. Dzudask (sp?) is being mentioned alot on this site but not proven in the prem so he could just be another Mark Gonzalez. I like the look of Mata from what little bits i've seen but i've heard that alot of the big teams in Europe are after his capture. Who would you suggest for the left ED? or don't you think we need to strengthen that area. {Ed001's Note - Elia is the one I see as most likely to be the 3rd winger signed as we bid for him in January but were rejected. It seems we were told to come back at the end of the season when he would be allowed to leave, apparently. Not sure on Dzudzsak(sp?), not seen much of him but he looked decent the other night. Mata is class, but he might be a little fragile for the EPL.}

This is theturdz speaking

Liverpool have agreed a new kit deal worth £25million a year with Boston-based Warrior Sports, a subsidary of New Balance.

The deal, which will commence in 2012/ 13, is worth twice as much as the club's current one with Adidas, and also beats Man Utd's £23.5m-a-year contract with Nike.

Liverpool replica shirts are currently the fourth best selling across the world, behind United, Real Madrid and Barcelona
from theturdz looking for support to replace GORDON TAYLOR OF THE PFA coz i only want to work 1 day a week and that is when i have a great night out in london with my multimillionair members so we can slap each other on the back and say well done heres to next season and more millions to take from the gullible supporters

22 Apr 2011 16:33:20
This is just a random idea that made me wonder. Luis Suarez played with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and during the season they had together Huntelaar had one of his best seasons scoring 33 goals in 34 appearances. I just thought maybe that would be because as we have all seen Suarez is great in many positions and will run forever and it benefits him to play with a large target man. With that said, it could be shown that Him and Carroll will play very well together as Suarez seems to benefit the other strike partner and help create many goal scoring opportunities for who ever he plays with. Just a thought

22 Apr 2011 16:27:23
Whoever posted that new liverpool jersey, you're quite right in my view. It's gonna be something like that. Warrior always makes their jerseys simple. It'll have a retro feeling.

22 Apr 2011 16:29:33
Hey Eds, great site. I would just like to offer my opinions on the summer activities. I believe we should strengthen our squad, but not with over-priced average english players that people are reporting, e.g. Ashley Young, Gary Cahill, Matt Jarvis etc. If we want English players in our squad next year then keep bringing through the youngsters like Robinson, Flannagan, Coady, Sterling etc.

We need to get rid of our average players off our wage list, none more so than Joe Cole who is probably on about £90,000 a week. I would flog:
Cole, Kyrgiakos, Jovanovic, N'gog, Poulsen, Jones, Degen, Insua, Konchesky, El Zahr and if he wants to go then Aquilani. I'm not doubting the boys talent but if he doesn't want to be here and you can't guarantee he will be fit for 3 games in a row then get him off the bill. I would probably keep Aurelio as i think he is a cracking player, but only on a pay as you play contract.

I think its obvious we need wingers. I am a big fan of Charles N'zogbia, personally i think he is one of the best Left Wingers in the league. I know his attitude isn't always the best but i think under King Kenny he would shine. For the right wing i haven't got a defnite choice in mind, but i would like to see us go after the likes of Hazard or Sanchez. I think with Kelly being a natural centre half we don't need another one with Flannagan covering for Johnson. At left back i wouldn't go for Enrique, im not a fan. Personally i would go for Kadlec of Leverkusen or Schmelzer of Dortmund. Yann Mvila (sp?) would be my only wanted addition in the centre of the park. Charlie Adam, a decent player in a poor team, Gareth Barry at Villa????? With Kuyt joining Carroll and Suarez upfront i still think we need another class striker and i wouldn't be too disappointed if the Benzema rumours were true. N'gog has to go. Tomas Necid anyone??

So i would bring up the youngsters get rid of the deadwood and bring in the likes of:

M'vila
Schmelzer/ Kadlec
N'zogbia
Hazard/ Sanchez
Benzema/ Necid

What you think guys and Eds?

Smplfc {Ed001's Note - I am a little shocked you talk about not buying average players then suggest N'Zogbia!}

Liverpool are going to have NASCAR sponser on the back of their shirts for a reported £30 million deal!

Why would it cost more to put a sponsor on the back of the shirt than it does to put one on the front? £25mil(front) £30mil(back)???

the deal with warrior is to make the shirts not sponser as standard charter had a four year deal i think?! so the nascar deal would be to go under the number but i am no expert, that's how i see that happening if it were allowed by prem league.

****************************
Its amazing how nothing about this new kit deal hasn't been released on the official website! !

Cheers C {Ed001's Note - impossible to give an opinion on Carroll, far too early, but he does seem to be linking well with Suarez. Suarez, on the other hand, has been excellent, he is reminiscent of Tevez in his work rate, he shows that a top striker can do far more than just score goals.}

Liverpool are going to have NASCAR sponser on the back of their shirts for a reported £30 million deal!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Do not get your hopes up for this piece of bad info/ rumor. NASCAR is sponsored by Sprint. And if you have ever watched a race (I do not understand the fascination with this "sport" in the states) you will know that all of the cars have multiple sponsors. NASCAR itself will not be sponsoring anything.

Now if Sprint wants to sponsor LFC, then that is another story all togther.

I would not be surprised to see Agger and Aurelio on their way. Both good enough players but neither can stay fit enough long enough to be worth a place. Johnson could also be going as Kelly seems to be lined up for the right back spot and he is to good to play second fiddle.

Why would it cost more to put a sponsor on the back of the shirt than it does to put one on the front? £25mil(front) £30mil(back)???

Simply down to what any company is prepared to pay.

People are talking about all sorts of signings of late. I've been browsing from a distance.

To be honest with you, I am only interested in 1 signing and that is Kenny Dalglish.

If we don't have him, it doesn't matter who we sign from your never-going-to-happen fantasy wishlists (Sanchez, Neymar, Aguero, Hulk ect), Dalglish is the soul of Liverpool and won't win anything without him, never mind the players.

Had Dalglish started as manager from the start of the season, even with the naff squad we had, I believe we would have won something. Heck, if Brimingham won the Carling Cup, I bet we could have done!

Just saying.

Sonic.

We will win things, with or without the King as manager. Kenny has said himself on numerous occasions that "no one person is bigger than the club" and don't forget about the fine job Steve Clarke is doing, working alongside Kenny. I can see what your saying and i agree with you that we need Kenny to help maintain stability around the club but im not naive to think were h***ed without Kenny. So when Ferguson retires does that mean Man U won't win anything else?. We did win the champions league without Kenny as manager!. Im optimistic the King will be manager tho! YNWA

We're gonna look like a bloody rugby team if the new shirt makers want to start plastering sponsors all over every available space. But if we win trophies, who cares what the strip looks like?

Stel

- - - - - - -

The money from those plastered sponsors could help us win those trophies.

{Ed002's Note - You are getting far too carried away with this. Only a single sponsor is allowed under very strict rules issued by the FA. There are provisions for the shirt manufacturer's log as well.}

In regards to the post I put on of the top twenty targets. For the people pressing unbelievable do you not expect any of the players on the list to sign? I think there is at least 2 possibly 4 playes from this list that will sign. How many if any does the ed expect us to sign from this list? Also remember the site that posted this is the same site that said when we signed Suarez that Torres would be leaving and everyone said No chance.

the deal with warrior is to make the shirts not sponser as standard charter had a four year deal i think?! so the nascar deal would be to go under the number but i am no expert, that's how i see that happening if it were allowed by prem league.

Bristol City had Blackthorn on the back of there shirts, so i can't see a problem with them being allowed. .

Juventus must stop with this nonsense now. Aquilani wants to leave, we're happy to sell, Juventus must pay up the initially agreed fee or bugger off.

We can sell Aquilani to another Italian club. Failing that he would return as he's still very much our player.
An agreement is an agreement. We shall not lower our fee. Aquilani can come back and fight for a place if push comes to shove.

I don't care if he doesn't want to come back. He's a Liverpool player. It's up to his low-life Juventus to change that by cutting this nonsense and keeping their end of the bargain.
Otherwise jog on, match-fixing and Machiavellian plotters.
They should've just sank further into the abyss after being demoted to Serie B coupla seasons back, such a disgraceful club!

Onto other news. Made up about the new shirt deal. £25m from Warrior, £20m from Standard Chartered and another £30m+ from the CL would put us in exceptionally good stead.
Despite what many would have you believe, Liverpool WILL be back in the CL by the time the Warrior deal kicks in.
The team I expect us to replace there is Arsenal (or City, possibly).

Things are looking great. We have a pool of exceptional youths to come through in the near future (Suso, Coady, Sterling, Wisdom etc), Pepe, Steve and Kenny about to sign new deals, significant investment awaits for the summer, major revenue streams are being secured, work on a new/ redeveloped Anfield will be starting all in good time, no crippling debts and interest payments. It's just so gratifying.

Really can't wait to:
-see Pepe reaffirming his commitment to the greatest Football Club in the world, Liverpool FC.
-see the King and Steve's (we love you, sir) new deals being announced
-read on our club's website that a deal X has been completed.
-see our new signings being unveiled at Anfield, side by side with the King, holding the most beautiful scarf in the world aloft
-watch the new boys bedding in during the preseason
-welcoming and watching the new lads at Anfield in one of the friendlies we usually there
-see Tom and John digging their shovels in as work starts on the new stadia/ redeveloped Anfield

I'm one ecstatic fella right now. Never felt this optimism and gusto for a long, very long time.
At last, dignity, pride and privacy have been restored to this institution.

To every man and every woman who gave me this chance to once again dream, I owe my debt of gratitude. May Fowler bless you.

Cudroe {Ed001's Note - I have to say, this is an excellent post, I especially agree with your sentiments regarding the cheats Juventus.}

Must admit that I do not like this Warrior deal very much. Of course the club comes first, and of course I will still buy the shirt, but I definitely prefer Adidas. I just like the Adidas brand. Personal preference is all that it is. But if this £25m per year helps us by a top player then I will be pleased (Sanchez please).

Reina
Johnson Carra Agger Enrique

Hulk Carroll Suarez

Realistic enough?

If this formation isn't what KK goes for, I think wingers within our reach include Elia, Honda, Turan or Young. Dont think we will sign Hazard or Sanchez although I would love to see it. Rolando (this is who we are scouting from porto and not Hulk, we don't need a striker in the summer what with Carrol/ Suarez/ Kuyt/ Ngog)
young/ payet (right winger)
Matt Jarvis (left winger)
Adams
Enrique

Liverpool Outs:

Poulson (has been poor & high wages)
Cole (100k a week for bench warmer)
Jovanavic (surplus to requirements, high wages)
Aqua (Juve will agree a fee, but would like him to stay)
Maxi (possible)

King kenny will sign a new contract before the last home game. . the king see's lb, cb, wingers and another forward as his transfer targets. .from all the talk i think the king will sign more of a squad than doing a man city and buying international stars. . that is why i think he will buy jose enrique and give newcastle £6m plus joe cole for the left back. roger johnson is one of the central defenders that will come to anfield for around £6/ 7m.I will expect to see konchesky, kyrgiakos and agger leave in the summer as well as aurelio. glen johnson will go if the price is right, namely £16m region. i would like to see at least three players who can give pace and width to our midfield. names like payet, marveaux, jarvis, downing and young. he will also look to sell off the likes of poulsen, maxi, etc. which cannot make the current set up. All players who went on loan before dalglish became manager will be left go. charlie adam will sign for liverpool to give craft and depth to our midfield. the boss is also looking at podolski, rossi or lukaku to give cover up front. .like i said. a lot of players leaving to be replaced by the names above and liverpools up and coming youth. . and with kenny at the helm. .good times ahead {Ed007's Note - Boo hoo, why me?? charlie adam lol}

We already get 23.5m per year, and that was a 13 year deal which runs out in 2015.

Therefore, as we are a MUCH bigger club than you, and have more sales worldwide we will eclipse your new fee, you don't need to worry about that.

I have no idea where the Xabi Alonso rumours have came from, however it would be a dream come true to have him back, Rafas biggest mistake was letting him go after the season he had as well as the fact we were so close to winning the league.

Many names have been linked with Liverpool since the new owners came in, especially after they showed their spending intentions in January.

The Outs this season are agreed by most fans and pundits, it just remains whether or not Liverpool can get anywhere near 'good' money for them. The Out should be:
Jones
Konchesky
Poulsen
Ngog
Aurelio
Kyrgiakos
Rodriguez
Jovanovic
Aquilani

The Ins are more exciting with the prospect of big money being available. These are past rumours which I prefer and hope for, Ins:
Coentrao
Enrique
Bale
Cahill
Adam
Young
Lennon
Alonso
Benzema

I know that signing all of these players is highly unlikely, but signing 4/ 5 of these players would definitely prove we mean business and set ourselves up for a brillaint season, Coentrao would be a fantastic addition LB or LW, he has been rumoured to be on the verge of signing for Bayern, but never rule anything out with football, anything is possible.

Despite all the rumours one thing is a certainty, getting new deals sorted for Kenny and Pepe should be the first thing that happens this summer.
Any comments ed?

Strong rumours in merseyside that aguero is signing in the summer
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Aguero will never sign for Liverpool, the harsh reality is we can not afford him, he is on £200,000 a week and would cost £40 Million, does that represent value for money. Please do not post rubbish Ross

So what were Spurs doing bidding 40 mil for him in January? Can they afford his alleged 0.8 million quid a month wages? Not saying your wrong but your response is very dismissive without looking at the bigger picture.
- - - - - - - - -
I understand your point of view, but If Spurs buy him for 40 million and then his wages would be about 10 million a year, on a 5 year contract that is 90 million.
Do you really think Spurs can afford that, I really don't think they generate enough cash to pay those kind of wages and neither do Liverpool. Plus you would need to pay other players more money as well, all of these things have to be taken into account. Ross

Our US profile is strong and growing and this deal will help us go global and we are keen to help Liverpool develop further revenue kit stream.
We will offer supporters 3 new kit options each year HOME AWAY AND 3RD. I know people may find this idea funny, but i think we should keep hold of maxi.
He is a decent chap and helps other south american players settle in and feel at home(along with lucus).macharano, suarez etc are examples.
He also increases the chances of us attracting south american players(read auguero ;) )
and he is a decent squad player

i don't mind maxi and i like what u said how he helps other south americans but u lost me when u said he helped mascherano settle in. im pretty sure mascherano was there before maxi. other than that slip up, he still is a decent player and could attract other south americans, remember him and aguero spent xmas together. it doesn't mean anything but he knows other south americans

Statement from Rody Carmicheal CEO New Balance Sport to ASRD Business network press.

"This deal is superb for us and Liverpool. When a franchise like Liverpool becomes avialable you look at the brand potential and say we gotta make this happen. Our US profile is strong and growing and this deal will help us go global and we are keen to help Liverpool develop further revenue kit stream.
We will offer supporters 3 new kit options each year HOME AWAY AND 3RD. We also wanna look at further on shirt sponsorship capacity ie rear or shirt or unused space on shorts and socks all these areas can greatly benifit our company and the club. We will defend the kit tradition without being a prisoner to it so expect some bold classic designs with great modern cutting edge features. The current crest will remain a LFC brand stable but I can reveal we are working on a shirt specific design that fans and sponsors alike are gonna love. So to the fans I say we look forward to a great future together"

Mpez , like old whiskey nose and the other spam united fans waking up this morning reading the great news about Liverpools new shirt deal, it must be making sweat run down the backs of your necks! I mean £25m a season, that's before we start hauling in the trophies again and crack the USA and on top of being debt free! (how are the you on that issue??) So in the words of old whisky nose " we cannot wait to knock united of their h'ckin perch" so enjoy your remaining time as the league champions because believe it or not mate we are coming, and coming fast. . . .

If its true united are closing in on a 25m deal for sneider, i feel liverpool should try and atleat match that. fantastic player and only 26. would provide geat ammunition for carrol and suarez and would allow gerrard to play in a more deeper role.

Firstly I believe a25 million bid would get rejected. And secondly of all he would join United over us, because they are about to win the premier league and are in the champions league.

Where we can't offer any European football at all (more then likely)

I think its a great bit of buisness getting in £25m from this american sports label to make are new kit, but my worry is that its gonna be some obscure american kit design with loads over over done stars an sparkles

what dya reckon ed ?

{Ed002's Note - Don't worry, it is planned to be a rather tasteful floral print.}

yeah i can see gerrard lovin playin at anfield sporting a kit that looks like his nannas curtains

Ed now that Warrior have joined Standered Chartered and FSG could this mean we could have a transfer budget of around 70m + player sales next summer ?
Cheers mate only thing worried about now is the design !

{Ed002's Note - No. Sponsorship goes in to the pot of running the club. Keep in mind that there will be revenue that has not been gained from not being in the Champions League this season and, in all probability, next season. I have no doubts that the owners will provide funding for transfers, but they will certainly not be setting any firm budgets.}
---------------------------------------------

im getting more an more impressed with the way the owners are going about things, setting up lucrative deals and getting more knowlegable about the game, i think the club is defintely going in the right direction

would you agree ed ?

{Ed002's Note - Well you have the previous owners to thank for Standard Chartered. Ian Ayre is responsible for the latest deal, and of course he was bought in by the previous owners as well. But as you say, the club is going in the right direction.}

The New Liverpool Kit-Make Deal, as some of you have asked:

Liverpool have signed a Deal with Warrior, part of New Balance, for £25m per year. This deal starts in the 2012/ 2013 season, and -obviously- Warrior will make the Kits.

Warrior is a mainly Lacrosse and Hockey Apparell and Equiptment make, in the States and Canada, and they have only recently became involved in Soccer (America).

The current Kit-Make, Adidas, pays Liverpool £12m per year, far under the British Record deal which see's Nike pay Manchester United £23.5m per year. As of the new deal Liverpool now hold the British Record fee.

Ian Ayre and FSG have hauled out this deal, and Liverpool fans should be very grateful. New Balance is based in Boston, guess having FSG as owners doesn't look too bad.

Warrior is the second of unknown Kit-Makes to Join the English Premier League, after Tottenham Hotspur recently signed a Deal with Under Armour.

Therefore, just to cover a previous question, Next Years Liverpool Kit will be Adidas, as it was always going to be.

I find it bizarre why you come to our site, look at what the topic of the day is (i.e this new deal), look it up on Google, copy & paste it here but tweek it a little to try & fool us, just so you can feel good about yourself that you 'know' more about what's happening at LFC than us. Sad little boy.

It's alright having a bit of banter about results etc. But this is taking the biscuit.

I am amazed at some of these fantasy Lfc teams not including carra at CB?! ! When he has played at CB he has marshalled the defence & has been solid, it's only when played at RB his lack of pace & adventure has been exposed. Since steve Clark has come in our defence has tightened up, even skrtel has improved. Not sure defenders r our priority in summer we need creative players. Ur thoughts re carra Ed's

{Ed006's Note - Just the manufacturer, so Standard Chartered will be the sponser and Warrior will be the manufacturer, replacing Addidas.}

22 Apr 2011 09:57:49
As much as I am excited at the prospect of finally being able to compete with chavski and manure in the transfer market, I hope that this new kit deal and the money it brings doesn't mean that the club will become completely americanised. Our kits with Adidas, Reebok and Umbro have always been quality, and for the most part, understated (especially the grey 'Candy' kits from the late 80's. .my personal favourite kit), and I just don't know if this new kit supplier is going to get lost in translation, with overtly baggy 'ice-hockey style' tops with massive images of cartoon-esque Liver birds emblazened across the back. If they manage to do for us what Nike have been able to do for Manure then great, but I suppose time will tell. What do you think ed?

{Ed006's Note - I don't think that they will try to Americanise the shirt, we are an English club and always will be. My only worry is that it is new grounds for the company as they have never created football shirts before.}

Warrior mainly makes sports equipments and jerseys for hockey teams. Their designs are simple. I guess we'd have something like those retro jerseys. Less stripes on the shoulders. Hell, we have to wait another year though.

Sounds like a bit of a prank to me. . Warrior Sports instead of Adidas, come on, they don't even do jerseys, they do body armour for lacross and hockey! ! And if FSG own Warrior Sports then how the hell does that work. . Sounds like another 'Epic Swindle' to me :D

{Ed001's Note - Aguero is not likely and I really don't see how he would fit into the team. We have Suarez and Carroll, now we need someone a little different, rather than Aguero who is very similar to Suarez in my opinion.}

Aguero being similar to Suarez would be good right. have a 3 man strike force with Carroll in between Aguero and Suarez. .With attacking fullbacks delivering the ball to Carroll and Suarez/ Aguero getting the ball into the box with their neat skills we will have a two pronged attacking option. . and with the sweet left foot Carroll he will be a threat even from outside the box. .Imagine the sorry state of the opposition defenders, they wouldn know from where the attack is gonna come. .they wouldn know whether to defend aerially or on the ground. . The new kit deal from Warriors is from @012-2013 season. .the new kit from adidas is for the 2011-2012 season. .Imagine getting paid more than manUtd. .I think its a great business deal. .Does not matter what the Kit logo is as long as the Crest is the same. .

Best thing, in my opinion, mate is to take them somewhere else and release them. Either big parkland or farmland, apparently even if they have been handled quite a lot they don't lose the forage/ nest building instincts so they should survive ok. Sorry I'm not really up on this just what I can remember from having a couple as a kid.

I know people may find this idea funny, but i think we should keep hold of maxi.
He is a decent chap and helps other south american players settle in and feel at home(along with lucus).macharano, suarez etc are examples.
He also increases the chances of us attracting south american players(read auguero ;) )
and he is a decent squad player.

Ed! If Aguero did come, don't you think it would cause a problem as both him and saurez would be playing in copa America every year and its usually held in January / February time. Business end of the premiership. We would lose both of them for around 6 weeks. {Ed002's Note - It is held every three or four years and not every year. This year it is being held in July.}

Liverpool have wrapped up a £25m-a-year kit deal with Boston-based company Warrior Sports a record for English football and twice what adidas currently pay.

Nike s deal with Manchester United is worth £23.5m.

Fenway, Henry and Warner really knows business, don't they?

22 Apr 2011 01:56:02
Apparently the new shirt deal is the biggest in British football history, £25m per year for 4 years, £2m more than the current highest, Man Utd. Warrior will design and manufacture kits for LFC from the 2012/ 2013 season. Adidas were given the option to match the offer but declined. LFC are the fourth biggest shirt sellers in the world, behind Man Utd, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Can we please leave out this tosh about Owen coming back to LFC. There's more chance of "fat Ronaldo" signing for Spurs. Even if he did come back, I'd imagine he'd get a frosty reception. As for these Aguro/ Hulk/ Sanchez rumours, wouldn't it be great if they happened!. I know it's a long shot but bloody nora, I'll flippin crap myself!.

If we had the chance of bringing one of these in, my choice would be Hulk. The other day i posted how much id love Hulk to be with us next season. The guy was born to play in the premier league and in my opinion would be perfect for us!. So happy to hear we are linked with him. Just think about all the doom and gloom surrounding the club this time last year and now were being linked with some of the biggest names in world football!. so happy right now peeps :) YNWA
