That utd fan Alex is pretty funny sometimes, but i think we should send Sydney to Coventry. The same person who said about Snijder that he had the touch and vision of Cantona. And what did you change your opinion to when it was clear he wasn't. Who needs an egotisical 28 year old on 200k a week or words to that effect. Just proves what a true bell end he is. Just blank the turd. Simple, he can post but if no one reply's to him you'll see his true colours shine through. Jonson6

I think Sir Alex is funny ALL the time, plus he is cuttingly honest in a gentle sarcastic way about the shower of sh*t you support!

(Agree about Sydney)

Sir A x (No relation to the real Sir Alex x) Ed..no checking my IP address!

I can only hope Sir Alex that you are as magnanimous in defeat as you are in victory.

Your boys did good in the first half, excellent pass and movement. Should really have been out of sight, but did you lose control in the second, Brighton far superior.

However, a win's a win and your through, and that's what matters so congrats.

I notice Wolves had a very good win in midweek, warming up for the big game on Saturday. I love a relegation 6 pointer early in the season!

Is Suarez knackered, he's been f*cking awful in my fantasy team and didn't look sharp tonight!

Sir Alex x

I've got Suarez in my fantasy team too Alex mate. I've also got Reo Coker in midfield it was either him or Anderson or Carrick, so it was a no brainer.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Blair mate

I imagine every decision you make is a "no-brainer". Ya can't use what ya ain't got!

Sir Alex x

I bet your wishing you put anderson in now hey blair;-p lol
Shappy

Suarez does look tired though. I thought tonight would have been the perfect opportunity to give the lamppost a run out. Seems Kenny doesn't even have faith in him. I'm sure Andy will console himself with a beer or ten later on.

Matthew...

Not at all Shappy mate, next in was Frank Sinclair and he's 78 yrs old. But still better than Carrick, Anderson and that diamond in the rough, Darren Gibson.

Blair Mayne YNWA

"Ya can't use what ya ain't got"

How many times have you heard that phrase before Alex mate?

This is quality stuff lads, keep it up. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA

And even with our so called crap midfield we've outplayed everyone so far this season and i think you'll find that all three of Gibson Carrick and Anderson have more medals then any player at liverpool. I can't wait to play you guys, do you honestly think with your players and with how were playing atm that you stand much of a chance? you got thrashed by the spurs team we destroyed a couple of weeks earlier and you couldn't even kill off brighton tonight. snap back to reality cus your in a dream world were it's still 1987. lol
Shappy

Shappy, Shappy, Shappy "sigh" you were doing so well too. Then you had to go and ruin it, and try and talk about football.

You did have not "outplayed" everyone so far this season. You struggled against WBA, you struggled against Benfica and Chelsea were the better footballing team on your pitch, last Sunday. All you did is what you do best, catch Chelski on the counter attacks. Chelski played the better possesion football, i think a 5-5 draw would have been a fair result. But you took more of your chances, than Chelski. Which is all that matters i suppose, but stop this sillyness you've "outplayed" everyone thus far. When the simple fact is, you havn't.

Arsenal should have scored at least 4 against your "great" defense, which seems to have been forgotten, on the Manc page.

Explanation please......

Blair Mayne YNWA

Yer right Shappy, Brighton probably gave us a better game tonight than ManU did at Anfield back in March. I have to say I'm quite looking forward to our next encounter myself - Shrek always s**ts himself in front of the Kop and there's no better feeling in the world than kicking manc ass (again!). Any idea when you'll be dropping out of the champions league this year? As Schoals said, you can play attractive football, but what's the point if you don't win anything? I guess he was referring to all those manc Euro failures? While your on ours pages learning a thing or two about football, maybe you can go back and explain to Sir Alex - Liverpool got a lot of perches and it's going to take him a lot longer than 20 years to create a history anything like ours!

RedAce.

Does anyone really think that was anything other than a competitive practice game? Kenny looked like he wasnt that bothered with the outcome.

Ive gotta agree with Shappy about 1 thing on his post though about Carrick having more medals than any LFC player. He must have a house full of them inc worst pl player of the year, worst utd player and biggest waste of space

Review if the game

1. Defensively overall ok. Robbo n kelly did fine, coates too ex for one misplaced pass! Carra did what he does...lead, and well at that. Ex for pen (i know!) he was solid so people pls get off carra's case!
2. The interplay 1st half was beautiful. Maxi kuyt bellers and luis were tops. Still Can't understand why kuyt an Bellamy weren't selected on sun. I just think they would have made a massive difference an caused spuds all sorts of issues.
3. Welcome back SG!
4. Lucas is a monster, chasing everything down, even lost causes. Well played mate.

In summary I think king ken has learnt from sun. If we play everygame with this formation/tactics I think we'll be fine.
My Team for sat, 4-2-3-1
Reina,
Kelly, carra, Coates, Enrique
Lucas Adam
Kuyt Bellamy downing
Suarez

Have faith folks...Ynwa
Sinner786

Change carragher by wilson or coady

Kenny is old school and likes 4-4-2. Same line-up excp diff formation:

Reina
Kelly Carra Coates Enrique
Kuyt Lucas Adam Downing
Suarez Bellamy

Actually, I would play Skrtel over Coates at CB for this game. And I am sure Kenny will play his son on the right of MF.

21 Sep 2011 23:24:10
Hopeful lineup against wolves

Reina
Kelly Coates Carragher Enrique
----------Lucas Gerrard------
Downing Kuyt Bellamy
---------- Suarez-----------

Swap kuyt with gerrard and slot adam in next to lucas. would do me nicely that.

Stu.

Don't think Gerrard would start. he is not match fit atm. And none of us want to see him injured. I hope, we'll see our captain fantastic for some minutes on Saturday. Delighted to see him back. YNWA

21 Sep 2011 23:21:54
kuyt superb tonight . henderson could learn alot from dirk , good interchanging with the front two and some great touches and the ball to suarez was sublime

Hendo needs to learn alot. Kuyt and Bellars can do him a good favour. Hope, he and Carroll would improve alot. don't want to see any word like flop in Liverpool's lines. YNWA

Kuyt superb? Nowonder we never will never get anywhere. yes he runs all game, but to me Bellamy was much better (hardwork and skill & pace). Maxi nothing as usual except a few flashy touches, Suarez needs to work on his shooting and attitude.

21 Sep 2011 23:09:34
Jovetic score 2 fantastic goals today. Vagas play very good game too. Banega and Piatti Rock for Valencia. I think none of them will cost £20m. We need british talent yes but creative midfielder we missing. Suarez alone Striker and Half suport striker will not work every game.

The CAM we need is K.honda

Yes to all of them jovetic vargas piatti banega Honda. hope at least 2 of them jon in january

Jovetic or Piatti. Any of these would be massive improvements. Wish we never have had ***G&H***. So we might have had Jovetic in our line-up for last 2 seasons. Wouldn't mind any of these or Honda. YNWA

I am not an anonymous Man U supporter.

"Good result tonight."

Are you having a laugh or should go to 'Specsavers' ?

Cannot you see the numerous faults with the team.

Brighton outplayed us. Didn't you watch Kenny's face ?
At least he knew it !

My point is, if Man U reserve reserve team, gave Leeds a hiding, what have we got?

The football was poor, and Brighton had most of the possession. What don't you understand about that?

Don't you ever watch quality teams ?

Ball skills, worse than average, positional play, erratic. Tactics naive.

I have never watched such poor displays from Liverpool.

It won't get better, because there is no reason to.

November, will look bad. Adam, Henderson, etc.
Championship players.

If you don't understand quality, you will never see it.

I don't agree with you.
We played them off the park first half, and then we lost our confidence in the second half.
But its a learning process to build a team with the belief of champions.
But we're getting there. There will be setbacks on some weeks, and narrow wins on others, just like there always was for LFC even back in the 80s.
But we are getting there.

You are not a nice man saying bad things about our team shame on you we will win the carsberg cup just you wait and see.

Brighton had most of the possession , Liverpool 52% Brighton 48% , think about it mate the penny might drop . Woodwork three times first half should of been put to bed , only are selves to blame sitting off a good Brighton team , penalty for there goal , get back your own site . Kelloggs96

Sir Alex warning Vidic and Fardinand that weak up or Jonas will take your place. why not Kenny say Carra Weak Up Or Kelly Coates take your place. for me Kelly show carecer day by day. Coates showing his quality . a future star for sure.

Carra is going no where this season, just deal with it, he will play all big games. He will retire next season after we finish 5th.

Is it me or does Coates look a little slow and clumsy for such a highly rated CD? Guess he fits in with the rest of our team.

21 Sep 2011 23:04:59
im old enough to remember when we played in the european cup, anfield was alive big crowds an everthing, and we would play teams like barcelona and not new brighton.

Should we have refused to play Brighton then? It's how it came out the hat!?

dd

Why bother replying to anonymous posters?

Maybe we will get barcelona in the next round of the carling cup.... tit
and it was brighton. not new brighton

Maxi have a good Game. Dont know why Henderson have so many start maxi is 0

I thought Maxi and Spearing were pretty anonymous in the game.

Gerrard should have replaced Spearing and Downing for Maxi.

dmedly

Maxi was great, involved in both of the goals...

HK

Bellamy for Henderson, would be ideal. Hope, we are gonna see an improved Hendo soon. Same for carroll. YNWA

21 Sep 2011 22:53:04
This is for all you geniuses out there criticising carra, so tell me who will take control when hes gone who will do the talking at the back who will lead the team from the back skrtel doesnt talk agger doesnt talk coates needs time. I advise you actually go to a game and watch carra he may be slowing but his contribution is huge in terms of leadership putting his head and body on the line time and again . most people that criticise carra dont understand the importance of leadership in a back four and have prob never kicked a ball in their lives i cant wait to hear your responses.
DCG

And who would give away penalties if he wasn't there? lol
Shappy

I agree, he controls the back line, but so far he has given away a goal and two penalties this season, and Noone easily cruised past him in the first half when he hit wide.

How much is bossing the back line worth?

dmedly

Hi you are right carragher will be missed for his organization of the defence, dont know who will take over that task.(godin)

If we play Carragher & Coates in EPL we might as well have them sit on the 5 yard line all game. Both look so slow its scary. I would play Skrtel with Carra (as Carra is undroppable for some reason).

We should have beat Brighton 4 or 5, we didn't we beat them 2-1.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Sorry for the long post.

'Blair'

Mate that isn't a long post, that's Andy Carroll.

Sydney ;)

Blair is that Criticism ? you cant be true liverpool supporter,go and support someone else glory hunter ...or whatever..:)
I agree with you mate totally .. we played near enough full strength team, we missed few chances which is worrying but we have not created enough which is even more worrying.
I would 've liked Kenny to use games like these to give Carroll more minutes /chances and I think the way Brighton played would've have suited him.
But I am so glad to have Stevie G back, just being on the pitch gives the rest of the players a boost.
Roy

That's more like it mate, you stick to the jokes i'll stick to the football knowledge, agreed?

Blair Mayne YNWA

Tonight's game for me Roy mate, was a carbon copy of the Sunderland game. We should've had Brighton beat in the 1st 35 mins. I agree with you on us not taking our chances, but with Bellamy getting more games, i think that will change. It seems to be Luis in the past few games (except Spurs) that is missing the simple chances. He should have had 2 against Stoke and another couple tonight. It's not a criticism of Luis, just an observation as i see it.

I wouldn't have started Carroll tonight mate, i think this was a perfect game to see what Craig and Luis could do, when paired together. And i have to admit mate, i was pretty impressed. I know it was only Brighton but players like Bellamy and Suarez have always had this movement, in their game, they are a defenders nightmare. Me thinks we could be looking at our regular strike partnership, in the coming games.

Stevie coming back was the best thing that happened on that pitch tonight. I was nervous at 1st and thought maybe just maybe he'll pull up. Fingers crossed that's the end of his injury problems.

Blair Mayne YNWA

I reckon Carroll may have been rested due to the shift he put in as LW on Sunday?

dmedly

Hmmm, we missed a few chances. Same as we have done before i.e Sunderland, Stoke, etc. May be our finishing needs some work. But if its a win, doesn't matters the margin. I am delighted. But must say if it has a good margin it feels even better. Best of luck, for the rest of the season, Liverpool. YNWA

Decent result today, a win is a win!
Maybe people won't moan for a few days now.
Great to see Gerrard back, and Craig bellamy looked class especially that free kick.
Will be there at the wolves game, hope we do the business this weekend.

LFC 2929

Exactly, a win is a win!
You can only beat who is in front of you, and that's what we did.

Good to see a win today. Hope, for the best for the rest of the season. YNWA

Can I suggest that we all ignore comments from mancs and blues like sidney. The sad little men want a reaction. If we ignore them they get bored and crawl back under their southern rocks

Nah we don't belong under rocks as were champ19ns of england for a record 19th time and were flying high in the league this year too, were on top of the rock......oh wait thats liverpools tombstone, ah well i guess were dancing on your grave. lol.

It's a banter page mate. Not just for LFC fans, but for all fans. If other clubs fans didn't come on, we would be arguing with each other.

Blair Mayne YNWA

About the most sensible thing i've ever seen you post blair, although it is good to take a peek at the pool page to see you guys fight amoungst yourselves. lol

We fight amongst ourselves because we're passionate about our club.

Some early impressions from tonights game.

1. If we could be more clinical when we are on top in a game we could avoid some of the negativity that is around. 1st half we could have had 5 goals and ended the match.

2. Bellamy looked very good. If not in 1st team should be knocking very loudly on door now. Quick, direct, good touch and intelligent. Welcome back Craig.

3. Another late penalty hmmm. Not going to get into the whole Carragher/Spearing blame debate - however you would have to say we don't look rock solid at back and likely to concede. Thought Coates did ok and will definitley benefit from game.

4. Welcome back Martin K and Stevie G. You have been missed.

5. A home draw would be nice for next round.

Good result, ok performance, lets roll on to Wolves.

That was a good effort from the lads tonight. Woodwork 3 times first half. Not sure why we wernt as effective 2nd whether we sat too deep or lost energy but the one break we made settled the game.

Kuyt is strong on the ball and I personally hope he starts against Wolves. Offers a goal threat and covers our right back as well. Kelly looked solid. Coates was sound bar one mad ball. Gerrard got a few minutes an you can see the class of the man when he's on the ball.

Hope we get a decent draw now. Ed is it drawn on Sat?

Spriggo {Ed002's Note - I think Friday.}

The draw's on Soccer Saturday I think.

carra had a gd game but this was against a championship side and they have only just got promoted into the league. we still look sloppy in the middle. wingers especially maxi was lazy and never tried to help others. the gap between the back 4 and the midfield is still worrying any gd team like spurs will exploit it. still dont understand why suarez started he looked so tired after 30mins. gd result in the end and hopefully we will challenge for either this or the fa cup as long as it doesnt deter us from getting top 4.

21 Sep 2011 22:46:07
I have a feeling about this i think we going win this cup,ay i edy o were going to win the cup we are going to win the cup.and I hope carroll dosent drop it off the bus. redman 1

I think Kenny really wants to win this cup to put a marker down, to show the players, club, supporters and Europe that we're back and mean business...get that winning mentality back!

We have won this cup more than anyone else, whether it's the Milk Cup, League Cup or Carling Cup it will get us in Europe and bring some well earned respect again!

Valencia Vs Berca you dont need suer player to beat Berca look how well thay play Berca.

Valencia are a top side.

maka

Not sure what you mean pal.

You don't need so call superstar to beat Berca. Pablo Piatti, Ever Banega is very fast. I dont know why we don't look this kind of player?

Ist Berca or Burka.. oh no its Barca ...watched that game as well, brilliant football from both sides , but boy dont they like to moan in that league .. why was a player sent off no one knows?

Mou is Right Barca get special tretment from Ref. the way messi agrue with ref any other player sure yellow card.

Sign graig noone he is very good. And a scouser.

Kee

Which we released very recently {Ed001's Note -He came through at Skem a long time ago. He was released at the age of 11 he said, I wouldn't call that recent!}

Its about 12 years since he's been released. i don't think its quite recent by any means. He's 23 and may not be of Liverpool's quality. But must say he had a very good game, yesterday. YNWA

Two plus's for me,we are through and Gerrard is back other than that not great,my worry is Kelly never seems to cut out a cross and as for the massive space between defence and midfield is worrying adebayor consistantly dropped in there sunday and brighton did the same hope we address this soon, thought Bellamy was our best but Suarez looked very tired,
my heart can relax now

Liverpool miss Gerrard he is there to help striker he is there to help midfield he back to help his defance. for me a total footballer I ever see again. he may be fall too many injury but as long he in field he is play liek Captain.

That is totally illegible seriously what does that mean??

That means Gerrard work Hard to play for 2 people football.

Hi ed, quick question do you think Ever Banega would fit into our team and play better than Lucas or Adam. {Ed001's Note - I am sure he would fit, not sure if he would be better or not though.}

Did you guys see lucas was given the chance to play AM but he has grown accustomed to playing holding spearing was telling him to go in the advansed position.

He is Class player just watch Valencia vs Berca He can be 2nd Gerrard. work very hard in the field.

21 Sep 2011 21:52:40
Good performance tonight. Looked solid at the back carra and coates looked good together. Just listening to Alan Kennedy and he said how well carra played i couldnt agree more.

A really good game of footie a great nights work all around and to be fair Brighton will be in the prem if they play like that in the near future.

Some of our interchanging in the first half was superb. Two good goals as well.

Mighty reds

21 Sep 2011 21:52:36
yes carragher gave away a penalty (again) but he held are defence together ,kelly looked good on his return and coates after makeing some mistakes started to settle as the match went on.
spearing and lucas were nowhere in the middle of park and rodriguez was he even playing ,thank god for the work of kuyt and suarez and my man of match craig bellamy.
and welcome back stevie g you have been missed mate.
haveing said that even tho it was a below par performance again we have one and are in the next round well done lads

21 Sep 2011 21:52:32
Before the doom-mongers start off about how we let ourselves get pressured too much in the second half and we would have lost to better opposition etc, just remember- we won the game, and we played well and dominated for most of the fist half.

And remember, Chelsea are in extra time, and the all-powerful City won 2-0 compare to our 2-1.

We won- the lads were a bit lacking in intensity for some of the second half and KK will surely be addressing that, but the bottom line is we won, SG had a good run out, Kelly is back, and we can move on.

Stop with the negativity and bring on Wolves.

21 Sep 2011 21:49:16
A mistake by Spearing, who played well, but why did carra go to ground? Maxi was in the game for prob 2 mins, a waste, and sluggish lucas ball watching again and jogging around. bellamy and Kuyt played really well and nice to see Stevie G finally back, over all not a bad game from both sides!
JayB

Lucas has been playing non stop and has been putting a shift.
On Sunday against spurs lad was up down regularly covering others.
He has been playing in copa too.
Give him a break.
Sometimes you dont have to do criticism for the sake of it.
We won only that matters.
confidence will build up.Lots of things to work on.

Red Indian

Dont have a go a lucas i use to be the first to critise him but im a big fan of hes now after watching wat he did last season and this season for us plus has never put his self down when everybody!myself included had digs at him for the slightest thing but ive converted
lucas will be a world beater!!

Was nice to get back to winning ways, also to see Kelly and Gerrard back.Bellamy,Kuyt and Suarez looked sharp up front. Only fault was Maxi was missing for about 88 mins and i hate to see Lucas tackling, he puts a foot in but forgets to take it out, hes always going to give away free kicks near the box.
Red4Life*

Maxi got an asisst. did you see the work he done to gain ground everytime, something no-one did at the weekend.

Kenny have a word with Carra man. He's been a great servant for KFC but all good things come to an end.

Kfc. Are you taking the piss

KFC ?

Were you watching the same game? He played very well and made some important challenges when the rest of the side allowed Brighton to put us under pressure.
His long term future is under question, but we would lose more by dropping him at the moment for Skrtel.
Coates is covering for Agger, so there's only Skrtel or young Wilson to cover Carra.
You sure its wise to drop him?

Lol! Just imagine if Carra never became the great player he is for us, he could have ended up working for KFC behind the counter...erm I'll have a bargain bucket...would you like fries with that? Lol

21 Sep 2011 21:44:39
61% possession to Brighton.

Man U's reserve reserve team gave Leeds a football lesson.

I suppose the 'Blind Faith Crew' will be happy.

Nothing to be proud about, except the score.
Outplayed by Brighton.

Pub team tactics, pub team skill, from a pub team.

A true supporter will see the problems.

It's not the result, but the way the game was played.

Poor.

Nice to see the anonymous Manc watches our games lol

We're not remotely interested in the views of anonymous fans of other teams. Your team are out then, I take it?

Red Owl

Clearly another manc whose on our site.Go obcess with Chelsea who are in extra time against fulham who missed a penalty

King luis

Do one Manc.

DB YNWA

Hang on duckhead , how was the manc team reserve reserve.
The twins , giggs , carrick , berbatov.
Obviously a manc fan.

LAVERS

A reserve team with 35 mill striker 20 mill midfielder and a 20 mill winger playing right back ya do one u clown

We had 56% of the overall possesion!

We had 7 shots on target compared to their 2!

We had 12 shots in total compared to their 7!

What do you want after playing the previous game with 9-men? If you are that proud of Man Utd's performance against Leed's and their squad strength why don't you support them instead? You will probably find many people on their site who share your views on Liverpool being a 'pub team'.

JRG

Brighton are better than Leeds. Man utd reserves. Included park, giggs, carrick, Owen, berba, Valencia. These were also the only players that played well

I know wht you mean pal it seems under kenny(NOT HAVIN A DIG AT GOD BTW)that we sit back towards the end of matches where as under rafa we constantly pressed the opposition n made them make mistakes but different manager different way of football.

We can't help it if our reserves are better than your first team, Giggs Carrick Berbatov and Park are all great players but can't get into our first team atm as were just sooo good. lol

how many mistakes has carra got to make before he's dropped,he truly is a liability these days,no one can defend him this season.....sh-te....

It was Spearing's fault and although I was watching on a crap connection it seemed Vicente took a comfortable fall.

Carra was great tonight surrounded by a very inexperienced back line. He put in lots of last ditch tackles, had great positioning and made some commanding headers.

People really need to watch a full game clearly and appreciate what each player brings.

Papa G

I hate when you say fans say things like that..
He is at a stage where may be Kenny has to drop him because all this is also making him look bad.
he is a living Red legend and deserves a lot of respect..
Please show some.
Sometimes body just goes away faster then mind.
I think Kenny will do what ever is right for club and which Carra also deserves.
Remember Coates is young.
Agger is injured.
Skertel is suspended.
Kelly has to play at right back as glen is also injured.
So there is not lots of options left.

Red Indian

Carragher is still a top player, never injured, sees everything during the game, and very very rarely lets liverpool dow,,,,,go back to ur blue site, we dont need the likes of you on here

tel 1949

Carra was left with no choice in that tackle by Spearing not clearing into row z. How the f@@k was that Carra's fault. He'd had a good game tonight. Headed clearance at risk of getting a kick in the face. How many times do We have to put up with comments like that.
ND

It was Jay spearing who caused that penalty should have let the ball run out ,Vicente was up his hole but your correct Carra dived in when there was no need

When your times up,your times up,should of been replaces last season,i respect what he's done, but not what he's doing....big differance

If you support lfc,one day you will realise, with carra at the back these days,we are going to leak goals, when you do realise,if you ever do,we'll be languishing mid table, past his best, simple as that

Gotta hand it to the referee today, he's gotten every decision spot on. Finally a referee who isn't bias!

Amen to that Maka and may more like him officiate our games.

Except the yellow for Lucas, as the ball was clearly over the line before he made the tackle, although I blame the linesman there!

If spearing kicked the ball out there wouldn't of been a pen . Stop being so blinkered. There are some very inept and short sited fans on this site. Thats if they can call themself fans.

Man you did not get my point.Bro I honestly could not watch it.I was just seeing updates on BBC and asked everyone else what happened. It was not sarcastic.
Actually side by side I was watching Real madrid get a bore 0-0 with racing with a 500M worth of team.

Think Sydney is a closet Everton fan. Spends far too much time on our page but clearly lacks knowledge of football so not a Liverpool fan.

He is a Manc and a closet Liverpool Fan. Desperate to be one of us as he has seen too many prawn & avocado sandwiches around him in Salford.
Come on Syd, get out of that closet pal and admit you would like to touch our European cup.

Ed, seriously can you please just not post the bullsh*t that enemy team posters are posting! It's just getting worse with knobs such as "Sir Alex x" just trying to wind us up. I honestly don't see the point in posting their carp.

maka {Ed002's Note - It is a two way street - if there is a strong push to stop it it means the Liverpool posters on the Manchester United pages will need to stop.}

But surely you could just not post the stuff LFC fans or City fans etc. post on other fans walls which is obviously there to aggravate fans?

maka {Ed001's Note - then there would be no real point in having a banter page on any of the sites. I really don't see the problem, people need to learn to take it as a joke.}

C'mon.. Sydney winds me up too but its clear he's only seeking attention as his life is most likely immeasurably boring. I like him on our page. Its a bit of craic and you can sense the mischief in his posts. I just hope the Liverpool fans on the other pages show a bit of wit like Sydney.. now p**s off back to your own page you annoying so and so.

Why cant people just take the craic its all banter! The joy of football is slagging others when you win the pay off is taking the flak when you lose. Without the enemy then football is meaningless!

Dont Buy the Sun

I don't mind the banter, it's when they come here all high and mighty telling us what is wrong with our club. Not just our team but our club!
I don't know why anyone ventures out to other clubs pages, I can't see what the appeal is. Maybe I just have more of a life, I don't know.

Myk {Ed001's Note - I find the other team's pages interesting, but then I love football itself almost as much as I love Liverpool.}

I love the banter but I just wish posters would have their team emblem next to their name so we know who supports who. Sydney and Alex x are enjoy a laugh and a jibe but the ones who really annoy everyone are the anonymous posters who say highly negative stuff about LFC while pretending they are fans. There's no humour or banter in that. If we all had our colours, at least we would know who's winding who up. Just a thought.

The problem with Sir Alex and Sydney! is that their team are winning, and winning well. If Liverpool crack on and start winning regularly and their team starts losing I'm sure the sarcastic posts will be less frequent.

Simples!

Im watching the game and I'm sorry to say Lucas is not good enough.

What do you expect, he's worked his socks off in the first half. Its only natural to see him play slightly s**tta in the second half. {Ed001's Note - you forget he was in the middle for a 9 man team at the weekend, lad must be shattered.}

Get a grip. So consistent over the last 2 and a bit seasons. Including the first half of this game. 15 minute average spell and u come out with something like this? Not one to call everyone a Manc but your either lacking knowledge, not a regular watcher of Liverpool or a fan of a different team.

Anyone else worried that the games not been put to bed yet? Should be 3-0 let's hope we don't rue not turning our superiority into goals.

We've hit the woodwork 4 times mate relax

How should you be 3.0 up exactly? Both teams have hit the crossbar and I have seen the ball in your six yard box more than theirs.

Sydney!

Mate they do not give 1 goal for hitting woodwork 4 times.
But get your point though.Brighton are more into game now though we should learn to turn domination into goals.
Remember Stoke.

I think in time it will happen or we have to buy a goal poacher in Jan.

You obviously haven't watched much of the game then Sydney.

You seem to care more about our team than we do, Sydney ;)

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you have got to laugh, Liverpool put out a very strong team including the knackered Luis Suarez, Kenny is going for the League Cup this season. I guess there isn't anything else to play for.

Sydney!

Sydney - I know. I fancied Brighton to beat Liverpool's B team and then I had a look at who Dalglish put out. That's close to their first team. It's quite clear, Kenny's after the League Cup!

Matthew... {Ed001's Note - you forget that the reserves are playing in the NextGen tournament tonight, it makes it difficult to play them when they are currently in Germany.}

Sydney , funny ha ha , not up to your usual high standard , is everything okay with you........lfc

Still fascinated with lfc.

Ed001 - Even if they were in the country, you think Dalglish would play them? He's got a £35 million pound player short on game time and confidence but won't start him against Brighton? Suarez is still playing ahead of him, even when he looks jaded and needs a rest. Why?

Matthew... {Ed001's Note - of course he would, Robinson is 17 and he is starting, Dalglish has no problem playing youngsters. There is a good reason to rest Carroll, he worked his socks off for 90min chasing back etc, while Suarez came off early. He also has a completely different kind of physique and will take much longer to recover from a match than Suarez.}

How is that going for you Ed? They don't show them games on TV.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - they show them live on the Liverpool website. We got off to a bad start against the Portugese and our lack of top class experience is showing to be honest. We are now level on points with Wolfsburg in second in our group. I think it is showing up how poor the reserve level of football is in the UK these days, the NextGen is a huge step up for the players.}

Question for you sydney. what have lfc and man u both achieved over the last 6 years?

Sydney, admit it, you are a closet LFC fan...You must be, you watch them constantly and can't stop talking about them.

I don't give a toss about Utd and I certainly wouldn't watch them, there must be something wrong with you kid.

I am enjoying watching Coates have a shocker. He is not ready for the PL yet.

Sydney!

Ed001 - Is it for any age? {Ed001's Note - NextGen? No it is a youth tournament, though there are a limited number of overage players allowed in the squad for each match.}

Sydney did you lot not play a 30 odd million pound striker yesterday?

LAVERS

Ed001 - It was me who posted last, is it U18's or U19's?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - this is the official line: All eligible players shall belong to the following age category:
Each squad will consist of a maximum 18 players. All players must be born on or after January 1st 1993 although 3 players are allowed who are born on or after January 1st 1992. The inclusion of the 3 older players is an ‘option’ for each participating club and not a stipulation. Official site in case you want to check it out ready for next season when United are very likely to be involved: http://www.nextgenseries.com/ }

'LAVERS'

I know, what a great squad we have, last season's top goalscorer is our 4th or 5th choice striker.

Sydney!

I have a feeling United are building a squad for something new. We are linked to a lot of 16/17 year old "Wonder kids" as the papers call them LOL. We shifted sh!tloads of deadwood from the reserves too.

Also it's pretty strange because it says it's U19's, but shouldn't that be January 1st 1992?

Sydney!

Sydney I was pointing out that you lot also had a strong squad out.
But yeah you do have a good squad , which has been built up over the years.
You've spent 100 s of millions on your squad so it should be good.

LAVERS

'LAVERS'

You do know that since 1992 when the PL began, we have net spent almost the same amount of money? I think we have spent around £20m more than you. United have net spent £202m, compared to City's £500m+ & Chelsea's £500m+ net spend in just a few years.

Sydney!

Sydney mate you do realise that you carn't educate people with rose tinted glasses on don't you.... Pool fans, you gotta admire them , they still think this season's there's.... ha.... HERBIE

21 Sep 2011 19:40:58
Common ed now you must also be confused why is suarez playing?
He deserved rest And we have 35M forward who needs matches like this to get his confidence up.

I mean I am baffeled to beat brighton we need luis in carling cup.
What your thoughts ed.I mean god forbid if luis gets injured in this match then it will look very odd.its looks odd now.

I hope ed001 replys or anyone.
And please don't call names guys this is just a genuine concern.

Red indian {Ed001's Note - because we need a result to get player's confidence up.}

LOL Ed you should be in politics giving a diplomatic answer.
We discussed this for last 2 days and you said Luis should be rested.
But I get your point.
A manager always makes such decisions which impact all things.
if kenny wins this and next match then no one will complain luis being tiered but if do not win on weekend then whole media will say Luis was played without any reason today and he looked tired and all those headlines.

Red indian {Ed001's Note - I don't have a group of sports scientists studying his body during training and reporting the results to me. But I did think he looked tired last weekend, though he has had days to rest and recover. Kenny does have that advantage and I am sure the fitness coaches would let him know if Suarez was not up to it. I hope they would anyway!}

We need a result for confidence, but don't you feel we are running the risk of burning Suarez out? Shouldn't we be beating the likes of Brighton without the need for Suarez?

Ash {Ed001's Note - yes we should, but our options are very limited, the reserves are in Germany for the NextGen match, we have to let them get that experience for their future development. Two out suspended and a number of injuries have also kept the choices narrowed. Hopefully the fitness staff know what they are doing.}

Let's not forget we have no midweek European football so the players can rest then.

JRG

I think Suarez looks very frustrated at the minute, especially with some of his own finishing. Perhaps Kenny thought this would be a good game for him to turn this around.. we are playing with a hell of a lot of space and Suarez actually has some support in Bellamy, Kuyt and Maxi this evening, also just backing up what JRG said.. Suarez is used to playing Champs League midweek plus whatever other cup comps the dutch league has.. he's more than fit enough to play 2 games a week for us.

SideShowBob

I get your point ED I forgot next gen thus meaning young players are not available.
Plus what you really see is also different philosophy of different managers.

Both downing and hendo are rested where as may be some other manager would have played them to gel with the team.

Its really up to a manager and you cant really judge this decisions till season ends.
Ed my gut feeling is Kenny may be also testing system of 4-3-3 which if you look at our squad we can easily play with lots of players permutations what you think on this?

Red Indian {Ed001's Note - I am sure that is a big part of it, Kenny always liked to play horses for courses, though the 4-4-2 we have started the season was the mainstay. He was always looking for little tweaks to get more from the players at hand and to counter the team we faced. I can't see that philosophy having changed.}

21 Sep 2011 19:14:58
with all due respect, i dont share your views in a way;

1. you dont spend $20m on a player to be an understudy to someone. that's a huge amount of money for an average player, we are not man city;we dont have that kind of luxury. time is of an essence, we can wait for 2-3 years for a player to come good. and dont tell me that he was bought for the future because the future is now.we should be concerned about now not the future.the future of lfc is written in the names of jack dunn, sterling, nacho, suso etc. age does not mean a thing, cesc was a world beater at his age in the same league. ask yourself, what does he bring to the play?
you mentioned game intelligence and vision, tbh, i havent seen any because he has a way of disapearing on the pitch bar very poor bolton. sunderland is not lfc.
2. if carroll goal.......excuse!! let him score a proper goal devoid of pushing and tugging. we love excuses and it is killing us.

3. where was lfc before rafa came along? no one can rubbish his record, he made us to be a real force again unless you want to believe the british media's calumnies.

4. henderson has to be dropped to the bench.

5. carroll to the bench

6. a manager is as good as his last result and thats a fact.

21 Sep 2011 18:42:29
WHY ANDY CARROLL ISN'T WORTH 35 MILLION POUNDS?

ANS: Very simple! How much we paid for Luis Suarez the best player in South America ? 23.5M. How well Saurez has been performing since the first day with respect to Andy Carroll, his never say die attitude, hard work, stunning pace, brilliant tricks what else he lacks? How fast he has settled in.
Well i would happily give 35M for him not for Carroll who has so far nothing to offer. Well he is young he can improve but i thought he was bought as a immediate replacement for Torres to lead up front & score goals & to win matches for LFC!

I don't think Suarez was a Kenny buy! Think Commoli made the initiative to sign him. Kenny is always going after British players, may be he thinks a British base in the squad will win us titles just like in 80.s & his Blackburn days!
Well no doubt Kenny is a tactical genius but the thing is the players who he bought to play according to those tactics don't have enough caliber!
Wake up Kenny ! there is plenty of talent across
Europe, don't sign all these overrated & over priced British players.

Sorry friend its toooooooooo late to sign anybody, and were stuck with what we have.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

@Sydney

Very correct, mate. Players indeed "have to want" to join Liverpool.
By all credible accounts, Juan Mata was more than open to a move to the Scousers.

Informal discussions between his agent and LFC had taken place, prior to the u23 Euros I believe.
At the time his price tag was just under £20m and moreover, there weren't any concrete overtures from other top teams. This was to be the case until well into the final few days of the window when AVB moved in for him.

So had Dalglish pursuid the player, I've no doubt he'd have got him. He was viable in every way and exactly the sort of player needed.
But quite shockingly, he elected to drop all interest.

It was said that Downing was "first choice".
Well, to this day, I've never quite understood Dalglish's thinking here.
Mata and Downing are VASTLY different players. They not mutually exclusive. So why it was "either" this one "or" the other I couldn't for the life of me understand.

As for the others I mentioned, I don't those players would've thought twice about accepting Scousers' overtures.
Yes Liverpool's somewhat of an irrelevance and doesn't represent the brightest of prospects for the best talent, but am sure I and even you Sydney would admit that they'd hold more pull than some also-ran team in, say, the French or Italian league.

My conclusion's that Dalglish's scouting pool, and logically clout, is narrow and limited. Mainland Europe and the Americas are scarcely his manor, hence orientation in Brits.

"Suarez and Coates" I hear ye Scousers say.
Well, what was that your chief scout/football director said about Suarez having being watched for 3 years and Coates since the U17/18 tournament?
When was Dalglish appointed manager?

Look, "King Kenny" is quite some name, that I'll give him.
But to most non-Brits, the man holds little clout and sway.
So that, coupled with Liverpool's spectacular tumble from grace, perhaps made Dalglish take the course he did.
Brits, he felt, could appreciate his stature and "what it means" to play for LFC, and therefore be relied upon.

I've seen how some posters, in an attempt to maybe make themselves feel better, have referred to United's "wanting Adam and Henderson".
Well, the simple response to that is: United WANTED Phil Jones... United GOT Phil Jones.
If United wanted Adam and Henderson, I'm United would've GOT them.

Liverpool fans need to STOP peddling such lies.
Find yourselves something else to make yourselves feel better about.

As "boring" as you might think this is, your team is not good enough, at least as has been made out by you and the media.
It's a false hype, a hype which virtually every Liverpool fan has sadly believed.

I stand by my view: Liverpool spent poorely and unwisely (Carroll, Adam, Downing and Henderson) and aren't good enough. You have a creatively limited team and no depth. Liverpool won't be in the Champions League next season.
Toppling Manchester United, fair and safe to say, is a pipe dream.

That's me signing out.
Peace everybody

Don Aldo

Teams can and do get better , if your going to judge then give a fair hearing , say to the end of the season , kk is building a squad , some players will go to clubs for different reasons , do you remember the argie full back that wanted to move to lpool from utd after you lot voted him your fans player of the year , so your talking tripe , if anything you should be worried about man city taking any of your transfer targets away if they want as most players will go there over utd simply for higher wages , its a pity the so called top team in the world cant spend too much money because of their greedy owners.........lfc

Liverpool supporter here hate to say it but you are right.

Agreed mate, we all know Young was Kenny's first choice Left-winger. Liverpool fans forget that part.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - no, we all know Downing was first choice left winger and that Young was wanted as well.}

If you are viwing from uk its fine, if not, you need to download expat shield which will allocate you a uk ip address to watch certain channels that you need a uk ip for.

i want kk to replace lucas by spearing for at least 12 -15 games. I no all 'wise' fans wil bar..he is our player of year ect. But this is where on a field that a team dictates its play and this is where lucas is not good at. Always passing it simple/safe,sideways,mostly back, no initiative, others should drop back to begin the move. Iwould say give spearing half the time the fat spanish waiter gave his favorite lucas and see the progress (which we began to witness the season before). Spearing harras oponents, plays it tidy, spreads the ball well, alway looking to go forward, always looking to shoot ect.
Again im not a lucas hater but it frustrate me when someone gets so much chance (even though not good enough) year in year out at the expense of others and the team because he is born in brazil

Lucas was the top tackler inthe league last year and is leading the league this year - he is winning the ball more than any other premier league player ... lay off for a while and let the team turn things around .

Lucas is probably the most solid/complete player to don the famous red this season (until Stevie comes back for certain, fingers crossed for today, I haven't seen the teamsheet or anything so I could be wrong) Lucas is vital to have on the teamsheet, and I'd love to see him with Spearing today, they had quite a good partnership towards the end of last year!

McSnuggles OG

The real problem is henderson( he doest not contibute anything to lfc play) not lucas. another contributing factor is adam. he tends to look for exquisite passes instead of playing simple. still dont know what henderson brings to general play.

Every manager has a lucas this ones name is henderson.

The way you have described Rafa is disgusting. Whether you liked him or not, what ge did for the club and hillsborough families will always live on in my mind.

Ash

Yes, Lucas was world class on Sunday.

Just a guess at the team tonight.

Reina

Flano Coates Wilson Robinson

Spearing Lucas maxi

Kuyt Carroll Bellamy

The only one i can maybe see different is Wilson for Carra but i quite like Wilson and would give him a start.

To be underdogs most of the time but believing we can win. Steven Gerrard embodies what i believe in.To the most determined player in the world,Welcome back!!

Once again the negativity strikes and the rats come crawling out the woodwork. How long has it taken man city to build a team? 3 years, and still they are not the finished article, what were people expecting, there was always going to be a slip up here and there, but what sort of man b****cks an abuses a 20 year old talented cultured midfielder as a scapegoat for the losses, a player trying to find his feet out of his comfort zone, I don't think forone minute henderson was bought for the first team yet, but he has something that can't be bought, game intelligence, an average midfielder doesn't create 96 chances in a poor sunderland team bereft of a real forward after bent left. Its the same with adam, his vision is a gift, his left foot even more so, with enhanced training and fitness plans (no offence to blackpool) he will thrive in this environment, people were singing his praises all over the summer and he started well, granted we havnt had the rub of the green, but look at the mancs, they started poorly last season, chelsea ran off with it but faltered, the league is tighter with smaller clubs havingthe players to damage and restrict teams, but if carroll goal had not been disallowed against sunderland and the diabolical referring desicions in the stoke game were rectified we would be sitting pretty, we are five games in for f**ks sake get a grip and support your team and stop being such a frivilous pessimistic goat, and get being the man who was the last person to put a league trophy on the table. " rafa wouldhave done this, rafa would have bought better" well the fact of thematter is when the chance came rafa messed it up with his psychotic power games and his ridiculous rant, we had the momentum and the players but his inablity to rise aboveand respond in the liverpool way cost us the the title, end of. Going back to an earlier point at one nil we were still in the game, I guarentee if kelly an gerrard had been fit the game would have been a iffernet story, if you understand foootball to any extent you would realise that top end spectrum football is won on fine margins, 11 against 9, have you ever played competitive football? You should realise how difficult it is to maintain a level of defense with such gaping holes.now is the time to respond, nothing is lost yet, in my eyes we have had 4 decent performances with tottenham the only blip, rebuilding a team takes time, effort and commitment from all concerned,it takes time to shake offthe hangover of the hodgson era, momentum is key, anyone who thinks they know more about football than KK is a mug living in the virtual realms of ridiculousness, and people who feel the need to quote there time spent supporting liverpool to enhance their credentials are idiots, and some supporters who are pessimistic in all they say, (ash, godin) liven the f**k up, why support a team if all you wish todo is decay and moan about signings who you would Have prefered to sign on your fifa dream team. I'm only 19 but I can see the bigger picture of whats going on , the question is why can't you ?

Oh you are as old as 19?

Hodgson lasted six months,we have spent a 100 million since lets hope wisely, some advice at 19 dont have blind faith in anybody or thing ,and end up rich like me.good luck

Took ManC 3 years and they bought world class players.... How long will it take us with the crap we bought? Another 20 years?

Can see it plain an clear kid . Kelloggs96 .

Lord forgive them for they know not what they say/do/write.out of the mouth of babes.

With all due respect, i dont share your views in a way;

1. you dont spend $20m on a player to be an understudy to someone. that's a huge amount of money for an average player, we are not man city;we dont have that kind of luxury. time is of an essence, we can wait for 2-3 years for a player to come good. and dont tell me that he was bought for the future because the future is now.we should be concerned about now not the future.the future of lfc is written in the names of jack dunn, sterling, nacho, suso etc. age does not mean a thing, cesc was a world beater at his age in the same league. ask yourself, what does he bring to the play?
you mentioned game intelligence and vision, tbh, i havent seen any because he has a way of disapearing on the pitch bar very poor bolton. sunderland is not lfc.
2. if carroll goal.......excuse!! let him score a proper goal devoid of pushing and tugging. we love excuses and it is killing us.

3. where was lfc before rafa came along? no one can rubbish his record, he made us to be a real force again unless you want to believe the british media's calumnies.

4. henderson has to be dropped to the bench.

5. carroll to the bench

6. a manager is as good as his last result and thats a fact.

'Don'

To be fair it's very easy to sit there and name better players than the tripe Kenny has brought in, but those players have got to want to join Liverpool. I think Kenny overdone it on the Homegrown front, someone needed to tell him you only need eight in the 25 man squad and you don't have to field any of them. United will always gobble up the best homegrown talent. That will inevitably leave the scraps for Liverpool.

Sydney!
--------------------------------------------
When you say you "gobble up the best homegrown talent" Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm, surely you don't mean these players?

Jonny Evans
Ben Foster
Corry Evans
Ravel Morrison (going to jail probably)
Darren Gibson lol
Wes Brown
Phil Neville
John O'Shea
David Healy
Keith Gillespe, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

If someone else said this Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm, i would have put it down as a wind up. But knowing you and the way your fickle little brain works, you are convinced (in your own mind) that everything thing you spout is the truth.

If i've said it once, i've said it a million times "You really are an idiot" but a funny idiot. lol lol lol

Blair Mayne YNWA

Blair this is how all manc fans are , they get it of whiskey nose.
I remember when southampton beat them 6-3 (something like that) and whiskey nose blamed it on the grey strip , that they couldn't see each other.
That's mancs for you no class what so ever.

LAVERS

Phil Jones, Chris Smalling , Tom Cleverly , Ashley Young- Blair Mayne YNWA

You did not "gobble up" Jones, Smalling and Young mate. You paid well over 40 mill for the 3 of them. If this is what you call "gobbling" young talent, then you can "gobble" me anytime you want.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Hurry up Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm and tell me how the 40 mill is wrong. You're so predictable. lol

Kenny hasnt signed top players because any top player available wanted to play champs league football. kenny has to try and get back to that level and then try to get the top players. as for the homegrown talent man utd have smalling jones rio fletcher giggs young cleverley rooney welbeck who are better then the homegrown players at arsenal chelsea man city or liverpool.

Blair sorry somebody does not agree with you ,I will track him down and have my friends in N/Y/c take care of him one more less to deal with.

Classic Blair,be careful who you open the front door too.
Redeyedhector

Yes, agree with last post. There were no better players than Adam, Henderson & Carroll available to Kenny. He didnt have much choice. Poor lad.

'Blair'

I was talking about buying the best homegrown talent, and you knew that as I was talking about Henderson, Carroll & Downing, who are players you BOUGHT.

Jones
Ferdinand
Keane
Smalling
Rooney
Young

We are producing some amazing talent too mate aren't we? Even the players you have labelled above which is a fraction of what we have produced, all go onto have successful careers. Then you have the Beckham's, Giggs', Scholes' Neville's & Butt's of this world. The Cleverley's, Welbeck's, Pogba's, Morrison's & Fletcher's of this world. Even Pique, Shawcross & Rossi graduated from our world famous youth academy. The mind boggles.

Sydney!

'Blair'

Just think Carroll alone will end up costing you around £40m. Proof that money should have been spent better than it was. But Kenny could sh1t on your bed, punch your gran and finger your missus and you would still think he's gods gift.

Sydney!

Kenny just signed sebastian coates did he not? find me a kid with a better cv than his at 20 years of age.

SideShowBob

David De Gea
Wayne Rooney
Chris Smalling
Fabio
Rafael

There's five players with better CV's at 20 years of age.

Hey lads, I just want to stress the importance of sticking by our team at this point in time. As much as we hate the position we're in, WE MUST stick by Dalglish's signing and by the team. We can't keep going on saying "We'd have spent better money on Aguero" on all that crap. We have to stick by our team. Do you remember Arsenal? Their fans BOOED them when they came onto the pitch for their Carling Cup game. Can you imagine us booing our own team? We are considered as the best fans in the world AND we generate more power than any other stadium in the world, even when they outnumber us by 30,000.

So I stress once again, WE MUST stick by our team.

Blimey.

What can I say. I am so, so, so ashamed to be a Liverpool fan. What a complete mess. Lack of skill, guile, no enthusiasm, a lack of effort.

Oh. I'm not referring to the guys in Red managed by Kenny Dalglish, who will be hurting after what they know was a crap performance on Sunday.

No. I am referring to the so called Fans on this site.

Fans? Fans? More like a bunch of wingey spoilt 13 year old girls upset mummy hasnt let them wear their Glee branded hotpants to the sleepover.

I hate to bring logic into an argument but its really worth looking at the facts. On Sunday, LFC had a mare a few games into a new season, one in which we have virtually re-built an entire squad. We caught Spurs on a good day (fair dues and respect to them) - and we had issues at right back. We didnt get going and so we got thumped. Whoopee-whoopee doo. This is serious professional sport and that is what can happen. Arsenal let in eight goals a few weeks back. And - through the season, Man U will have a few mares too. Chelsea will get players sent off. And you know what in some Spurs games Modric will be completely ineffectual.

And guess what. In some games Suarez will make us grin from ear to ear with pleasure. Carrol will terrorise a defence and dominate a game with flicks, huge power and will be unplayable. And Adam will score a cracker from 30 yards & murderous corners. Henderson will arrive late in the box and smash in from the 6 yard box and Downing will curl one in from the edge of the box.

And we have #8 to come back and inspire.

Its destiny.

Me. I'm a Liverpool Fan. Good, bad, indifferent. So - I still love what's happening. And I believe. I still believe the way Dalglish is trying to build the right kind of team and play the right kind of way. I still believe it will take time. I still believe top Sport is about recovering from setbacks and getting up off the deck. And its not about easy roads. One of Dalglish's maxims is that 'its not the making of the mistake its how you respond to it'. The great LFC sides lost you know? Dalglish fluffed a few sitters in his time. Ali got knocked to the deck.

What will happen now? I don't know exactly and I'm not going to predict signings, tactical changes and dramatic events.

What I do know is that some bad luck and a bad team performance will not go without a response at Melwood. The team is clearly massively unified and wants to get it right. There are no conflicts in board rooms and training ground. This is now about team spirit, unity, working hard and putting things right. LFC will come back, as individuals and as a team; stronger, fitter, sharper, more motivated.

I believe the squad knows they let Kenny and the fans down and they know they have all the tools in the box to get things right. They want to do it for Kenny, for you, for me, for each other. I have no doubt whatsoever in the new signings and what we are trying to do.

LFC may have gone away. But LFC will be back.

I just wish some of the posters on here would go away and never come back.

Who cares if everyone is laughing at us beacause we have moved from buying foreign crap to local crap. We are Liverpool, we always right. Houllier, Benitez, Kenny, best managers ever. Yes it was a bad defeat on Sunday. But if liverpool had been anywhere near their best, I would have been worried. We just didn't perform, even with certain players out of position, we weren't at the races at all. It was just a bad day at the office. We are still above the spuds , who will now start dreaming of winning the league, (shows you how high they really hold LFC). We are not going to win the league this season, we will have more bad results along the way, but this team is still learning, remember Citeh 2 years ago. Let's get behind whoever wears the red shirt, everbody has off days. Top 4 here we come.

Yes, lets label it an off day ;)

Sydney!

Actually fella we don't really hold you that high at all tbh

But at the moment we're still higher than you lot, and will be at the end of the season.

21 Sep 2011 13:20:30
i think if liverpool get back Steven Gerard we should play like Man utd in 90's Giggs left and beckham right which mean Downing left winger and gerard right winger which will be a good for both suarez and Carroll because both can deliver good crosses.defensive midfield Henderson and lucas.

I think he will be best utalised as a CAM playing infront of Lucas and perhaps even Adam... one of our strongest midfields was when masch, alonso and stevie played together in the centre.

liverpool have a bed judgement on player.when you see Carroll and torres struggling to get in form and scoring goal and they are playing every match just to make them to gain confidence in them just because lfc have spend lots of money on them.lfc should have think twice before letting Ryan Babel leave the club.Should have given him his chance.POOR LAB.Hope he his happy in his club where he score a wounder goal this weekend

I do miss babel. really liked him as a player. he just didnt get enough games to prove himself. Wud have him over carrol anyday.

Torres is a chelsea player now im afraid mate

As much as I liked Babel at times he had no passion at all I was once told by sum1 connected to a player that after 1 game which we lost Dirk Kuyt was livid and literally smashed up the dressing room then Babel walked in like he had no care in the world listening to his headphones lol that pretty much summed him up 4 me more interested in his rapping!

The only thing I find surprising about Sunday's result is that you Liverpool fans were surprised about it.
This showed how totally out of touch you are with reality.

Despite the summer splurges, your team remains markedly weak and unconvincing proposition.
Adam, Downing, Henderson and Carroll are really nothing more than decent-at-best overrated players of no distinctive skills.
They are, as they have proven it themselves, nothing to look at and wet one's pants.

Suarez and Reina remain the only genuine class players in your side. Gerrard with his injuries and the age factor I don't see reaching his former standards.

Your team, as has been the case in recent years, is still devoid of creative options and real pace.
Downing is the slowest, less imaginative and skillful of the top six teams' wingers, yet, he's your best winger and most quickest player.
What does this say about your team?

Man United: Nani, Valencia, Young, Rooney, Hernandez.
The first 3 are all class act wingers million times superior to Downing. Rooney and Chicarito are top drawer forwards.
All five would walk into your Liverpool team.

City: Johnson, Nasri, Silva, Aguero. Class acts. Widens City's creativity net. They can rest any one or two of these players and still march to victories with consummate ease.
Liverpool... Suarez out, the whole team unadulterated mediocrity.

Spurs: Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Lennon, Adebayor. Pace abounds. Multiple creative options. Bale zillion times the player of Downing.
All these would walk into the Liverpool team.

Arsenal: Van Persie, Gervihno, Wilshere, Arteta, Oxlade, Park, Ramsey. These are all exceptional on the ball.
All, perhaps bar Oxlade (yet), would have little difficulty establishing themselves as starters at Liverpool.

Chelsea: Ramires, Mata, Drogba, Stuuridge, hell even Torres, are, bar Suarez and Gerrard, better than anything you have there. Ramires better than Henderson; Drogba streets ahead of Carroll; Stuuridge superior to Kuyt; Mata zillion times the player of Downing; Malouda a class above Maxi, and Torres a far superior player to Bellamy, despite his recent troubles.

And Liverpool? What do you have?
Suarez, Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Carroll, Kuyt, Downing and Bellamy.
Save for the first two, who, honestly, honestly, would the rest displace at Man United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs?
No one.

If you noticed, one common factor about those five teams is their large pool of creativity... which happens to be your biggest weakness. You simply are stretched in this respect.

You may not like to hear it, but your manager has quite frankly spent shockingly unwise thus far, bar Suarez and Enrique, and perhaps Coates.
The gulf in class in your match against Spurs couldn't have been more marked.
(Also worth noting that Spurs had two of their best players, Sandro and Lennon, missing.)
Your manager's tactical naivety was again exposed.

Liverpool could and should have brought better. To begin with, Carroll was a bad decision in every way. A panic-buy to perhaps pacify the fans. You could have held onto the money and, after due deliberation, brought the right player for your team at the right price summer.

This summer, there existed a large pool of exceptional and very much VIABLE talents.
Mata, Vargas, Hernandez, Sissoko, Payet, Banega, MMM, Boudebouz were all attainable provided the required effort was put in. Million times better than Downing, Henderson and Adam.

It seems to me that you lot have improperly believed the hype round you created by the media as a result of your spending, and an admittedly impressive showing against an out-of-sorts Bolton and a scarcely convincing 0-2 at Arsenal has added to the misguided hype.

This is no pop, but I really don't see Liverpool in the Champions League next season.
Unless Arsenal don't sort their lot out, I reckon sixth beckons for Liverpool.

Yours isn't a top 4 team and squad.
Only way this could be salvaged is through another splurge in January, a proper splurge on two proper attackers (Marvin Martin, Adam Johnson, Lavezzi etc).
I doubt though if there may be such spending. There owners have already provided large sums of money which, it appears, to no avail (Adam, Carroll, Henderson).

In any case, I'm not sure if trusting Dalglish would be smart a move in light of his recent dealings.
I certainly wouldn't.
Trusting someone who's spent circa £80m on Charlie Adam , Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll would be madness of the worst kind (especially since that sum would quite easily have bought, e.g. Manuel Vargas, Llorente, Juan Mata [when he was available for under £20m], Ever Banega and Dmitri Payet).
Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Don Aldo

HANDS DOWN THE BEST POST OF 2011...

purely for REALISM..and exactly what i thought throughout the summer transfer window.....payet...banega..sissoko..perroti, parker..all crying out for 1 serious attempt of a purchase..but nothing...

i do think we will finish 6th..and 5th being the maximum

And what about Stoke....you did well against them I see

Hate to say it as a liverpool fan of 28 years but this is truth weather we like it not. This guy is speaking the truth.

Spot on!

Would young the so superior player to downing be the same young that played with him at villa? if so statistics say downing is the far superior player and the fans at villa def thought he was the better player then you have the players who voted him best player! yes superior is downing, dont get me started on valencia!

Lol worst post ever. you wouldnt trust Dalglish? Thought the schools had gone back?

AND WE ARE ABOVE ARSENAL & SPURS

DMT07

Correct me if I am wrong but didnt Alex ferguson chase both Adam and Henderson, also Redknapp wanted to sign Adam, if man u and spurs got them players I am sure they would have been given time to settle in, they also would be classed as future stars, the next big players in football, but because they have signed for Liverpool by kenny they are automatically flops! Give them time to gel and lose your obsession with Liverpool
Lpoolkris

It's pathetic that a none- Liverpool supporting person has taken the time to post such a detailed analysis of our squad. This is purely objective. Some of what is said is based in truth, but the attempt to make the article seem well written falls well short. It comes across as petty and arrogant. Concentrate on your own club, as shall we. An introspective look is perhaps needed at this time, but you're on the outside looking in. Worry about your own team and their players. We'll do the same.

To be fair it's very easy to sit there and name better players than the tripe Kenny has brought in, but those players have got to want to join Liverpool. Interesting post and thought out even though I wouldn't agree with much of it.where I do agree is that we are short of city and united at the moment which given the ridiculous spending at city and the fact united are a long time at the top is not surprising.where I disagree is that spurs and arsenal are ahead of us.a front six of from downing Lucas gerrard Bellamy kuyt Carroll Henderson and Suarez is better than anything they could field.you have very much underestimated downing I'm not sure if you've seen any Liverpool games but he's been excellent.it's easy to pick on Carroll at the moment but he will improve and is contributing an awful lot more than man u's 30m striker berbatov.as for dalglish not bein up to it you're havin a laugh did you not see what happened against city, united and away to Chelsea with v limited resources last year, once this team has settled they'll be far better.don't want to have a go cos your post was more interesting than most recently but it really wasn't balanced at all.yosser

Young & Downing Aston Villa statistics 2009/10 & 2010/11.

Young

Starts: 86
Goals: 18
Assists: 26

Downing

Starts: 72
Goals: 11
Assists: 13

I think that concludes that Young's stats were far better than Downing's. Just like his stats for United, compared to Downing's for Liverpool. Also Downing was given the player of the year award because everyone at Villa knew Young was leaving, hence the reason Downing got it instead. My dad & brother are Villa fans and were devastated when Young left. He has been their talisman for the past few years.

Sydney!

"Million times superior to Downing".... Ask the Villa fans last season as to who they would have preferred to keep, which in turn completely undoes an ounce of credibility this post has.... if you believed it had any credibility in the first place!

Richards

Why did you come on to the Liverpool site and bother to write all of this?

Why spend so much thought on another team, seems odd?

jhoover

Pathetic post mate. Ferguson said that Adam's corners alone were worth 10 million, we bought him for 9. Yes, 9 million for a man who scored 12 goals and 9 assists in one season. If that isn't worth 9 million, then I can direct you to the mental institute.

If I remember correctly Ferguson also targeted Henderson, who was also on the FIFA players to watch in 2011. Sure, 16 million wasn't a bargain, but when he scores 20 goals a season I'd happily have spent the 16 million on him.

Downing now, was not bought in to be a playmaker. We would have bought Mata, but we didn't want another playmaker, we needed a PURE winger who could deliver crosses and support Carroll.

Now, look at the midfield for the last few matches:

Lucas - Adam

Kuyt - Henderson - Downing

Suarez

Lucas has literally played 4 matches next to Adam. Henderson and Downing have only played 4 matches with Suarez. IT is not an automatic fix, but in time, it will come.

Good day.

RenegadeRed

Wasn't Man U looking at Carroll until they found out about his silly price tag?
I'm also sure they had one eye on downing too.
Reina, Agger, croates ( will be), Gerrard, Suarez - are all world class and would walk in any club. The rest are good to very good players.
Judge us at the seasons end then you can conpare

We don't need to take time to respond to the post as the poster is just slagging off our players without looking at stats and you.Muppets get sucked in because we just had our first bad performance of the season.Henderson created more.chances than any other player. Last season, downing scored 9 assisted 9 and has more. League assists than any other player bar Gerrard and giggs. Adam the top assist maker from centre mid last season. Carroll's goal to game rati in the league for Newcastle was in the top 3 and he was only 21. Bellamy was a free dropped his wages to play for Kenny and is more experienced and consistent than most striker/wingers in the league.

I am not sure why some Liverpool fans believe United tried to sign Carroll, Adam or Henderson. United kept tabs on Henderson, but never followed up any interest in him, just like United don't follow up on hundreds of the players they are keeping tabs on. Carroll & Adam were never targets either. United's targets for the summer were Nasri, Young, De Gea & Jones. United also looked at Sneijder, Thiago, Sanchez & Goetze with Nasri looking to go to City. Barkley was also bid for very late on in the window.

Why the hell are LFC fans taking this inaccurate, subjective and anti-LFC doom and gloom post seriously? Let's get behind the lads, they need our support at times like this!

It's just a troll, so don't treat it as 'realism'.
Since when is Young a 'zillion' times better than Downing? I know a Villa fan who goes to every home game and he wasn't bothered about losing Young- said he only turns it on for England, not for Villa.

And how many times have people explained on here that lots of the foreign players didnt want to come to LFC because were out of the CL.

The game plan is to get a top four place, and with the Gunners struggling and Spurs sure to keep stumbling all through the season, we've got a great chance- and the bookies agree, even after Sunday!

Do you think Utd are going to get 8 goals past LFC? Not a chance.
In fact we are the bookies favourites to end their run of wins.

Get a grip people, we are going to finish above both Arsenal and Spurs, and we could still beat Chelsea to third place too.

They must be some fans worried about us out there never seen so much intrest.... Kelloggs96

I think Syd actually feels sorry for us and is trying to give an accurate outside opinion - for once. We can't all live with the rose tinted glasses all our lives.

To Blair,
Is this the 'alex' the watch tapper who wants an extra 10 added mins when the team are losing. The 'alex' that slates off referees and has been given a touchline ban for it. And the 'alex' that refused to talk to the BBC because they didn't kiss his ass. Oh and also the 'alex' that has a go at a woman because she asked him a question about his goalkeepers?

MUSHROOM

Yes MUSHROOM mate, that's the same 'Alex'. Don't forget the offshore bank accounts 'Alex' has too.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Same Alex who can't influence referees in Euro games - hence being a Euro-flop!

Interesting Sydney, ta. Very convenient all-embracing deal by City's owners' own company. Still a joke though. Where do you see wages, the 200k a weeks, going when FFP kicks in ?
The Real KB
------------------------------------------------------
City secured this huge sponsorship deal because the people sponsoring them are basically the same people that own the club, although it's far too complex for FIFA to prove. City are still way short of breaking even, but they do have a couple of years breathing space as the contracts for new players signed before June 2010 will be excluded from the FFP calculations for the next two years. In the meantime the owners of City will secure more advertising sponsorships via close friends of theirs to bring in more cash. It stinks to high heaven, I know, but sadly I think they will end up breaking even.

Sydney!

Ta mate, just caught up with info 11.05pm

Just the Manc i was looking for. Hey Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm, the tax man is on my case concerning unpaid taxes, any advice mate?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA

YES!!

Pay them.

Sydney!

Cheers Sydney/Spoof/Uncle Malcolm. How much do i owe you for this info mate?

Blair Mayne YNWA

If only I could, I go support the bestest team.

Hi Blair

I know it is a banter site but a few suggestions

It all depends what your status is Employee,self-employed or employer but you can and should negotiate a payment plan. The HMRC will not want to put people into financial hardship but ultimately it is about getting their money , shame your not the owner of Vodafone.

I work for advice agency and have found that you can negotiate most problems even if you use the process to buy yourself some time , dont just ignore letters as it is one of the few agencies that can take your possessions .

I know this might not help but without full on facts cant really give advice

Blair, you can go get a court - bankruptcy order about 300 hunred odd , thats it sorted , will affect your credit for a couple of years , but no big deal..........lfc

Cheers unnamed poster much appreciated, thanks.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Inland Revenue?
I've a VAT bill for £96000 for a business that was closed nearly 5 years ago. I mean even if it was opened it wouldn't be near that, but you know how they work? Think of a number & double it. Insane

The Irish Rover

No court needed lfc mate, they made the mistake. But like Ed001 said, they can be hard to work with, even if it's their fault.

Next they'll be asking for me to pay tax on the bank robberies i do, or the weed i sell.

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed009's Note - Where abouts do you sell...? (lots of irony intended.)}

Outside Old Trafford Ed009, i make a fortune with all them Mancs. If the Glazers keep putting ticket prices up, i may have to relocate to Stamford Bridge or the ETIHAD Stadium.

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed009's Note - See you in London Blair.}

Do you guys agree when we look at our team we look like a very hardworking team.
I mean take suarez out and then there is no x factor left.
Don't get be wrong one of the strenth of our team could be more we play together more we will start to get consistency in our play.
But barring suarez or steve.g who if becomes fully fit and return to 3 yrs old form (which I doubt) there is no one that a opposing player will fear who can suddenly do the unthinkable.

We have lots of good consistent players who will honestly put a shift for club and team but lack wow factor and that's what worries me.

I just hope we become a well oiled machine and just get 4th spot.that is so much important financially and otherwise for club.

We will have some ups and downs this season and real fight with spurs and gunners for champions league.

We are all behind kk but as any manger results will be very important for him.
And I have a sneaky feeling how andy does this season in terms of goal scored fill define our season and king kennys mangerial reign.
I hope young man rises to occassion because those andy which are criticising you will also want you to succeed as your sucess will shape LFC season and one thing is certain we all love our club.

Red indian

Well thanks be to god im with you 100per cent all the way on this one getn rid of aqua and merilles sickened me impact subs but no we will play spearing instead of xfacor players but ive come to the conclusion kenny likes the players who will put a good shift in but we have no xfactor players spurs have a better squad than us

I agree. Our squad still lacks creativity, pace...etc.
Still belive we shud have kept raul n never bought adam. Hey ed, i understand we have a good chance of getting gaston ramirez in jan. U heard anything on this? Bologna's president did say so. Wud be a massive improvement on sloppy adam n overrated hendo.
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - It is purely speculation and he also said there had been no contact from Liverpool at all.}

can anyone tell me the name of a film ?
its set in the 60s
about two guys who leave ireland for liverpool too
either see/trial
for liverpool v manchester u ?

GOAL OR GOAL 2, I think. {Ed001's Note - goal and goal 2 are about a South American youngster who signs for Newcastle then moves on to Real Madrid.}

I hear Suarez will make the sequel to this film. But the teams involved will be Liverpool and Barcelona instead.

Sydney ;)

I hear that Shrek is appearing in a West End version of "A Tale Of Two Cities" mate. Were he moves from United to Manchester City, sounds good.

Blair Mayne YNWA

I personally thought goal and goal 2 were half decent films, they got good access to RM's training ground on the second one. Goal 3 on the other hand was obviously poorly funded and used a whole different cast and ignored the original story Kuhn aswell. Going straight to DVD didn't help either. Shame....

Myk

I the person that ask the question about the film sorry my name is "dannybhoy" and iv still no clue any help would be great as id love to find out "its not a newcastle film either "
dannybhoy

I checked a site that listed all films shot in Liverpool but nothing like this came up.

In banter please ed's tvm

Ok on a more light hearted note, let's have your best team from the rafa era to now. All things being equal an not taking injuries into account. Here's mine...

Gk- reina. Easiest one!
Rb - arbeloa. Tough. johnson and carra as well but chosen on all round defensive game (plus had messi in pocket!)
Cb - carra and Sami. Agger pushing v close.
Lb - Enrique. Only been here few weeks but looks like been here for yonks. Class act. Aurelio as back-up
Cm - alonso and mascher.
Rm- stevie g. With kuyt in his place if stevie in middle in place of
mascher.
Lm - downing. Like Enrique great buy and so badly needed these last few years. Riera as backup.
Ss - Suarez. Like reina easy choice. Genius ability.
CF - FT. Lethal, with these players around him and luis as partner, he'd be next level.

What do you think...
Sinner 786

Finnan instead of arbeloa and id be happy

I'd go with Finnan over Arebloa as well (but only just).
I would maybe have Didi over Masch as well. {Ed001's Note - maybe? Didi was a far better player and he didn't go on strike!}

No Risse or Hamman?

Fowler in his pomp also owen? Leathal in his day. {Ed001's Note - can either of those be included in the Rafa era?}

I would be tempted to have Fowler instead of Torress - he scored every type of goal, headers, volleys, tap-ins, rockets from outside the area..........and maybe Henchoz at CB? Him and Hyypia together were immense.

JRG

Oops just realised Henchoz never played under Rafa did he?

JRG

I'd prefer Garcia to Riera as back up... Finnan at Rb, Hamann above Masch any day... absolute legend (on and off the field by all accounts).

Richards

Nice one ed for pointing the before raga era players.
Plus fowler in rafa times was not the same as before.

Sorry i Totally forgot about didi! Although only there a year or so under rafa, he was immense. I'll swap masher for him! Finnan was really good and i did like him tbf but for me arbeloa just gets it. Other than that I'm pretty happy with my selectione. Any more...
Sinner786

Didn't Houllier sell Fowler, and Owen gone as soon as Rafa joined?

I hope we start with a strong team tonight. After not winning a trophy for quite a while & being in no European Comp then I can't see a reason not to put out a strong team. We only have the 2 trophies to play for. Personally I would start with Reina,Flanno,Carra,Coates,Enrique,Hendo,Lucas,Maxi,Kuyt,Bellamy & Carroll.

If we happen to get 2/3 goals up then we can rest some players. I suppose this might be classed as a mini crisis in KK's management. We can do without the embarrasment of going out to a lower league club. We also need 2 really good wins going into the Everton & Man Utd games.

So come on boys, step up & shove the words back down the critics throats.

The Irish Rover

Swap Hendo for Gerrard and your teams OK.

Matt b

Hendo for stevie, Carrol for Luis. Not because I think they're crap but just to see if it would be our strongest team. Once we get a few goals (hopefully haha) then bring them on for confidence building.

Myk

21 Sep 2011 08:33:47
Ed is it a fair call to say that andy should start tonight and get his confidence up plus it will also help him getting match sharpness.also suarez should be rested completely from squad.

My team
Doni
Flano. Carra. Coates. Robinson
Kuyt hendo. Spearing. Maxi
Carrol. Bellamy

Subs:kelly,steve.g,wilson,shelvy,wisdom,sterling

What you think?
I only chose hendo at CM because by only playing he will get his confidence up.

Red indian
{Ed001's Note - I think the important thing is to rest Suarez, he is looking tired, and to give a few fringe players a game. I doubt many youngsters will get a game, there is a NextGen match on tonight.}

21 Sep 2011 06:36:13
liverpool just dont have
a)striker like owen,chicharito,dzeko,drogba,benzema-great finishing
b)right wing

i suggest

a)mario gomez,cavani
b)lucas saopoulo,afellay

Marko marin will solve all our problems...just one more big signing and we're set!

Cavani an affelay all day long.
For 1 luis will be happy as the guy spks his lingo!
God only knows how he copes with AC's Geordie accent, no wonder theyre not getting on!
Joking aside, these two would cost approx £25-30 mil combined and IMO revolutionise the team with pace and creativity. Alongside Lucas, SG, downing an luis, they'd be lethal

I would love to see Raheem Sterling play against Brighton, and Shelvey in midfield too. Perhaps Suarez, Bellamy up front with Sterling and Downing on wings. C'mon Kenny, those 4 will reap havoc!

Sterling playing wolfsburg in next gen same day.

Hi eds/guys/gals , a poster accused me of being the most negative person on the site how about dissapointed ill settle for that,I was taken to my first game in the 1945/46 season by a brother in law who was a red hot liverpudlian everton one week liverpool the next he asked who do you want to support maybe it was the great view from the boys pen (they moved us later)or those red jerseys so much more exciting than that drab blue,Ive been a red ever since, they have brought me both joy and sorrow.1947 we played burnley in the semi/final of the F/A cup they beat us I was crushed,in 1950 arsenal beat us in the cup final at wembley (paisley wa dropped that day (devistated).was at anfield for the wolves game with 61 thousand other crazed souls.was at anfield for the second divison game before our saviour came with 19 thousand other disgruntled fans with players like fred morris etc, then he arrived and those who desserted us returned because everybody knew he would take us to the promissed land and he did ,no I/we didnt knock shankley he was GOD not fowler.Lets return to today or 3years ago when we finished 2nd to man/u with players like alonso/mash/torrez/all world class ,then bad times with the cowboys, and now great new owners and management(elected by the people)everybodys happy me included ,then over a hundred million spent on what, lets take henderson 16/20 mill depending who you believe they tell me he has potential I looked it up (capable of being but not yet in existence) but dont we have a whole bunch of those on our books already and they wouldnt have cost a tosser, and we could have thrown in a few bob more and bought mata etc, like most of you guys have watched lots of the greats our own and others played a little =goodison/main rd/king farouks private pitch on his palace grounds in alexadria, all many years ago but it still helps in understanding the game, didnt want us to go through a buillding process ,with a 100 million we didnt have too but now it looks inevitable hope im wrong and gerrard returns and leads us too the promissed land, and the spurs game was just a dream, and while I was in the looney bin we signed mata and all the other exotic names which we all dreamed about during the transfer window that never materialized and the new stadium holding 80million was built in record time and we all agree with each other and their are no negative posters and the rumour /banter board is closed because of it, and we are all happy happy and win or lose we will not complain we wil just be happy happy we will follow our leaders without question.(godin)

Your not negative just dissapointed like many fans and are not looking through tinted windows like most fans on here expecting us to do well with the players we bought. Yes we would have had all the other teams not bought but we bought well for last season but the other teams also improved and some (the top four- except Arsenal) have all bought amazing players. Yes yes yes yes so they are paying throught the roof for them but they are getting the goods. How good is Adebayor and now compare him to Carroll? No contest....Yes Carrol put in a shift against Spurs but he was still slow compared to Ade. Hendo is ...well I am not sure yet but all I can say is one for the future..... I disagree with most saying these players we bought are rubbish as I feel that we have a good team and if ....if we qualify for Europe next year these players will be squad players and we will buy World class players, but only when we can afford it.
It just hurts to see players that I wanted (not neccessary that the club did) have gone to our rivals, but thats football.
Angry Red

Try breathing between sentences. Problem is that it is easy to say we should have signed Mata now that he is succeeding but you're probably the same person who was saying to sign Chamakh, Veron, Shevchenko and, dare I say it, Babel. There's no guarantee of success with your foreign wish list whereas Kenny knew that Adam, Henderson and Downing could hack it in the PL.

At last someone who talks sense. I too have been called a "Manc" etc by some pathetic "fans" who believe that if you support Liverpool, you are not allowed a critical observation. In my opinion, it is sacrilege the amount of money we spent for players like Carroll. If he was Spanish and Rafa Benitez had signed him, can you imagine the fallout?! We have spent all this money and our team looks sorely I'll-balanced, lacking mobility and pace, all problems that, given the money we have spent, should rectified. As much as it is an appealing idea to have a mainly British "spine" to the team, the reality is that bar a few, they simply aren't good enough in my opinion.

Ash

Don't you get bored of stating the same old stuff Ash?
Everyone has an opinion and some will agree, disagree and agree to disagree with you, but you keep posting the same stuff about wasting money and Carroll.
Put your energy into positive thinking regarding our team and maybe it will rub off!

For the same reason people continue to post how he will "come good." An opinion based on nothing other than blind faith. And also, don't be a coward. We could all post behind a veil of anonymity. At least I leave a name to my opinions and expect to be fully bashed if my opinions turn out to be wrong. Have a bit of bravery mate.

Ash

I was the person who called you the most negative person on this forum and I stand by it - just look at some of your posts, constantly criticising the players and management after only 5-games. It is so easy to say that we should have signed players like Mata but have you ever stopped to think that maybe they wouldn't want to join a team not playing European football or constantly challenging for the league? Do you think at this moment in-time Mata would have chosen us over Chelsea? We have been realistic and signed players that are experienced in premier league football and wanted to join the club. Hopefully with a bit of support and confidence they can take us back to where we want but with the constant sniping and criticising you are only guaranteeing failure.
You claim in this post and a previous post that you supported Liverpool before Shankly was manager; what I would like to know is whether you were calling for Shankly to be sacked after he lost 3 out of his first 5 league games, which is a worse record than the current Liverpool manager?

JRG

Excellent point JRG. I for one feel that it would save us all having to read the same old turgid tripe if Ash had opted to support Everton instead all those years ago. Perhaps Ash would do us a favour and change his allegiance now. He could have a wonderful time moaning about Everton's players.

Red Owl

Never called for the manager to be fired ;just dont like some of his signings loved shankleys.lets hope we win big tonight and keep on doing so isnt that the (goal)

Red Owl, it is a shame you call my posts that. I try to actually analyse the game as I see it. The only reason I post on here is because I am so passionate about Liverpool. I don't post on the Mancs or anyone elses forum giving it the biggun. Liverpool is all I care about and it is a shame that "fans" like you cannot accept criticism and only post to insult others. A terrible shame indeed.

Ash

Apologies for not leaving my name, genuine error on my phone, I normally leave it.
The point I will make again Ash is that there are loads if positive posts and you slate them, everyone has an opinion as you say, so when passionate fans like you and I care about our team we either back them or slate them. I personally back them as see no point in slagging off the players and management when we were in such bad shape recently.
What does it matter that Carroll cost 35m? It's a big price tag, but that's because if his age and he's British. You may not like him as a player in our team but chill out mate and let's have some banter on the banter page.

Liverpools downfall in these last couple of years has made me realize one thing, whilst i would love for us to win any trophy and the league would be especially great i would gladly swap 20 premier league titles just for one night with the famous anthem ringing out across rainy anfield whilst the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid stroll out onto the pitch. The season feels dead without the champions league the atmosphere on Tuesday night home games is what i support Liverpool for and the sooner we are back there the better so lets all get behind Kenny and the team
RustyNigels

I would rather swap 05 for a couple of extra league titles and stay ahead of the Mancs.

I agree with Kenny, we all need to be respectful of referees and respectful of LFC. Only hope LFC will soon be respectful of the fans that pay their wages and play some decent football.

Man i wish i could say what you said in such few words (godin)

Stupid post. We have played good football but have been unlucky. We should have beaten Sunderland and Stoke. Spurs was the only crap game we played so far this season. So shut it.

What planet are you from ? listen to yourself we SHOULD have beaten sunderland and stoke, what next we should have won the league last year.

21 Sep 2011 00:06:51
Two losses in five games....three years ago we had two losses all season. I have several of the games recorded from 2008 and watched Liverpool vs. Aston Villa (5 - 0) last night to pick up my spirits. We looked amazing back then. Hope Kenny pulls it together. Good start would be a new CB and another midfielder (note: Stevie G would do).

Jagger

Mate just look at where some of those players from 2008 are now , barca, madrid etc you can see why we have been struggling for the last couple of seasons, weve let world class players go and as of yet we have not replaced them with players of the same ilk or ability but im still optomistic that we can get there again, rome wasnt built in a day my friend.
tyommy c

We need width and another striker

In all this scary part is that after 3 seasons we all are still praying our captain returns and raise our spirits.
This is scary considering steve's injury and how it can easily happen again.

Red Indian

Afraid as I am to say it, the previous poster is right and we do not have the same level of quality we had 3 or 4 years ago. Examples, Alonso/Adam, Mascherano/Lucas, Torres/Carroll....However, and this is the important bit.....We have had a nightmare 2 or 3 years since then and we are now fortunate to have the owners and management team we do, who without doubt want the best long term future for LFC.

Now, that is not to say that where we are today is acceptable for LFC, it is not. But, we are rebuilding and it takes time especially when it needs to be done within sensible spending limits. We also all know that a revamp of Anfield or a new stadium is key to LFC and the owners are also pursuing this objective, an objective which I think we all agree is achievable under these new owners as opposed to the previous cowboys.

So, lets demonstrate what LFC is all about and support and cheer our team to success. It may have some bumps in the road, but I do believe we will eventually complete the journey. Time needs to be given to Adam, Carroll, Henderson and the rest of the team to show what they can do. They were great and unfortunate against Stoke and Sunderland, I saw glimpses of how the team can progress and with consistency I truly believe we can have a good season and qualify for the Champions League.

Lets get behind the team and show the true LFC passion and support.

YNWA

ConnorsLFC

Except for Alonso, the WC players we 'have let go' all wanted to leave. Perhaps this is why Kenny wants local lads that will stick around and build something. Look what happened to the gunners. Foreigners will always long for a move to Spain or Italy at some stage. If you think Suarez will be her ein 2 years time your a fool. Lets get behind Carroll, Adam & Hendo. They will grow into our team and stick around for the success.

Why compare the team of 3 years ago, we should be looking at the mess we were in last year and look to improve that.
