Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

21 Oct 2016 17:22:24
Guardoila came out with some ridiculous statements. Especially concerning aquero who is man city's best player.
The leagues wide open now because in my opinion city could turn into a right shambles and miss out on top 4 never mind win the title. His team has serious defensive weaknesses and he's close to isolating and damaging relationships with great players.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

21 Oct 2016 19:49:12
Agreed, and this is the great Guardiola for you lol, useless, already been figured out, what's exciting is, yes man city was playing good to begin with, now they're not, Liverpool and Spurs are playing well, getting good results. I can't see Spurs carrying it on, should Liverpool carry on how we have been, we're in a good place this season. Call it too early, call it what you want, 1st position has Liverpools name written all over it.

21 Oct 2016 20:34:17
How has pep been figured out? He's got 2 points more than klopp.

You say some stupid stuff mate.

21 Oct 2016 21:00:19
City is on the top of the table and also close to qualifying into the knockout stages of the CL. How on earth are they in shambles? lol some People need a doctor.

21 Oct 2016 21:07:43
Lpool page!

21 Oct 2016 21:38:13
The leauge was always open . When city United and Chelsea had new mangers.

21 Oct 2016 21:49:20
Dude wise one! What crept up your behind? Are you leak on you or harry?

21 Oct 2016 23:48:11
yeah alright 'wise one' says the so called liverpool fan who slates liverpool for drawing against utd, learn to support the team before you make stupid comments lad.

@Sweet chin music - they may be on top of the table but how long is that going to last judging by their recent form? you telling me they're doing good? they had a good start and no doubt they'll do alright, but i don't think there's a chance in the world they they will win the league.

22 Oct 2016 07:59:37
Anyone claiming that Guardiola is useless is pretty thick to be honest.

22 Oct 2016 08:30:54
I think City are pretty much nailed on to win the League.

22 Oct 2016 09:06:36
City have been poor for two games and they are still top of the league. It is highly premature and a bit cringeworthy to start calling Pep a failure and suggest that City don't have a chance of winning the league. They are still the favorite in my opinion.

22 Oct 2016 11:42:24
He's a good coach but sometimes he over complicates things imo . However city will be in the shake up for most trophies I would say.

22 Oct 2016 15:02:59
Please explain to me how pep is a good manager.

22 Oct 2016 22:45:34
LOL. Pep been "found out". Give me a break.

Yes, Guardiola is smashing some taboos in the EPL, like the typical assumption the EPL is far more "intense" and "demanding" than other leagues. He also enjoys playing the ball out the back; heretical for those who prefer the boring English long ball game that over half the EPL teams play day in and out.

23 Oct 2016 14:05:18
Pep,
said in the prematch conference that in 7 years his teams have won 21 major competitions.

Is there another coach that can come anyway near that average of 3 per season?

He is special. Stats back it up

But he faces now his biggest challenge the prem league. with no winter breaks and strong physical teams. All of which on their day have the quality to beat you.
WELCOME TO THE PREM PEP.

He now.

21 Oct 2016 13:49:26
Mourinho has every right to play to shut down games, prevent the opposition from winning, and leave with a point. He's been doing it for the big away games his whole career and at the end of the season they're often valuable points.

However, i think its very sad for united fans, for us, and for football fans everywhere that he considers this game to be just another away game against a tough opponent.

Liverpool Man United. My favourite game of the year. Means so much to all the fans to get the feel good factor of winning, even scoring, and he's taken that away from both sets.

Only one 0-0 in the premier league before this. Get used to it over the next few years though.

21 Oct 2016 16:13:20
Mate, it's got nothing to do with mou that we were awful. We were absolutely dire, Man United didn't defend well or do anything amazing we were just on an off day. Bet Chelsea beat them.

21 Oct 2016 16:42:32
I`m not bothered about how they line up especially in their position where at some point, parking the bus won`t work as they will need points. If Mou wants to buy expensive players ONLY to play like Tony Pulis then he deserves the jokes coming his way. They are now one win in five and if they draw vs Chelsea and we win, they will be further behind so in the end, they do what is "best" for them. It was up to us to play our game and we didn`t especially in the first half which Klopp astutely, manned up and said in his post match comments. We have to get back to starting games fast and setting the tone early because playing incomplete games will not cut it. This must start from tmrw vs the Baggies who will be difficult to beat.

21 Oct 2016 17:15:44
Jose won the title some 18 months ago playing pretty much the same with Hazard and Co.
nothing matters if you win the league title. Absolutely Nothing.

21 Oct 2016 17:41:28
We weren't at our best, agreed. But this could be expected with the changes we had to make in midfield. I think we really missed Lallana and Wijnaldum turning towards goal with their first touch. Time after time Can's first instict was to turn back away from his marker and then look up, and it gave them the chance to recover before we could break. Not his fault, he's been out a long time and it's a relatively new role for him, but shows where he needs to improve.

21 Oct 2016 19:04:38
Harry, that might be true but many have admitted that the season Chelsea won was a poor all round season in the PL, period. Not taking anything away from him but that is a fact. The issue now is that teams have improved massively including us, so if he wants to park the bus on the road vs the top six teams, he will either not win a lot of games and will definitely drop a lot more points. Like I said, if he wants to play like that, that`s his problem and he deserves the jokes he gets, period. I will also say that we have seen what Jose looks like when he does play open football, it`s called Watford and City. I would park the bus myself if I was getting smashed by those teams, myself. Just saying.

21 Oct 2016 19:13:46
Thing is, you don't need to be very good to do what manU did. It is very effective and ummmmmmmmm we had our own slightly less drab version of it under rafa.
Anyways its football ye? I think we just have to get better at breaking down that bloody bus.

21 Oct 2016 21:04:17
LOL Y is Pulis and other Parking bus mangers not winning the title if it was so easy.
One of our most successful manger Rafa parked the bus day long, Diego Simeoni is a master in parking the bus. Who on earth doesn't park it when it need.
All those one point jose earns against the big team away from home will add up while all those two points dropped at home will come back and bite us.

And Y do people think we will smash them at OT?

22 Oct 2016 10:30:01
So ye think ye will win the league with that defence and keeper.

22 Oct 2016 16:51:47
We've got to stop this, blaming the other team for playing 'the wrong way' when don't get the result we want is pure deflection. We're upset because we didn't beat them and that's fine but we didn't beat them because we weren't good enough to beat them, it's our fault not their's.

27 Oct 2016 00:45:13
exactly what my post was saying, mate.

21 Oct 2016 12:55:24
Question for ed002 if I may.
Towards the end of last month you mentioned some potentially exciting news that you may be sharing with us soon.
I just wondered whether it was still on the horizon or has it all faded away?
Many Thanks
RK.

{Ed002's Note - You need to go back and read what I said Ron. But when time allows ...}

21 Oct 2016 13:30:05
november i believe ron. end of november am i right ed002?

{Ed002's Note - It will be as time allows I am stuck travelling a great deal right now.}

21 Oct 2016 14:33:07
Thanks ed002 😉.

21 Oct 2016 22:35:53
Come on Ed 002.I travel a lot with work ( abroad ) but they doesn't hamper. 😎😎.

{Ed002's Note - I literally do not have the time right now - I will back in a few weeks.}

22 Oct 2016 00:52:05
R u Santa?

22 Oct 2016 07:03:21
I know, was only jesting ed002 😬.

{Ed002's Note - I am sadly on the road and need to be near to my office and the bizarre specialist equipment I need to do it. I will be a little while.}

22 Oct 2016 10:43:01
Santa, brilliant.

If ed2 is not Santa, storm chaser maybe lol.

{Ed002's Note - There are no storms here in Cheslea this morning - looks like it will be a nice day. The perfect day for a Bananfish.}

21 Oct 2016 09:27:59
It's almost that time again. West Brom, at home, to be totally honest I think I'm more nervous about this game then I was against utd. It certainly won't be an easy game.

Predictions? I do think we'll win 2-0.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

21 Oct 2016 10:24:46
I'll go with you on the 2-0 but I think it's going to be a very hard fought and scrappy win. I hope.

21 Oct 2016 10:44:47
Yes Barry I don't think it'll be easy. I'm hoping for an early goal and then we work on that.

21 Oct 2016 11:44:16
Tomorrow it will be a football game bettwen a team and
a pullman, I hope we will win it.

21 Oct 2016 12:50:59
It's one of those games that in the past couple of seasons we have struggled with. We know Tony Pulis, we know we struggle to defend set plays and quite frankly I think it more likely that they will score from one than not.

I will go 2-1 to us because of the grit and determination Klopp has given us that will help us get past teams like this.

In the back of my mind a 1-1 draw wouldn't surprise me but I reckon the Anfield crowd will earn us the three points!

21 Oct 2016 16:44:36
We need to start games on the front foot and set the tone very early in the game like we did vs Hull. We may have gotten outta jail playing well for only the second half vs Arsenal and Swansea BUT that`s not going to cut it. I hope we win but it will be a difficult game, for sure.

22 Oct 2016 07:02:44
It will be tough. Scoring a goal relatively early will be crucical - if it stays 0-0 for too long it will both galvanize West Brom and demoralize us. I think we need a breakthrough at some point in the first half - it'll hopefully open West Brom up and enable us to hit a second.

These sort of games are the ones that matter when the points are tallied at the end of the season.

21 Oct 2016 08:55:07
Eds reds- klipperty winding up the mancs-' playing utds long ball on monday perfect preperation to play wba saturday'! Got to love the guy! Lol. Come on redmen.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Really, you don't think that he is deflecting from his inability to counter what he knew Manchester United were going to do?}

21 Oct 2016 09:16:32
Hi Ed002 -

Is it a Liverpool problem or the Managers problem that for past couple of seasons it has been hard to breakdown teams who just tend to defend (Man Utd) .
There is no plan B at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - I know there is no plan B - that is the manager's problem.}

21 Oct 2016 09:22:11
@Ed002. So it was his inability that there were too many stray passes and 1st touches, which seemed like the ball was a crazy ball. I know you have some sort of odium against him, it is natural to feel that way when you see people blindfoldly worshipping him. But this time you got no point . Sometimes it is better to get over that smugness. Just saying.

{Ed002's Note - You clearly know nothing of it - making pitiful excuses are simply not good enough and are of course embarrassing. He had no way to address how Manchester United played yet knew well in advance how they would play. He can make as many jokes about his failure as he wants - as can you - but the bottom line remains that yet again he did not deliver because he does not have the skill set to do so.}

21 Oct 2016 09:43:01
How would you counter 6 at the back Ed2?

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with what I would do it is to do with what Klipperty demonstrated he is unable to do.}

21 Oct 2016 10:16:56
good point ed002. i think we should stop talking about united and focus on the next game personally.

21 Oct 2016 10:54:47
He would have countered it if it wasn't for two top saves from De gea.
And when you see what the mancs did to Fernabache last night. it looks now like bettet result.
I think We are doing great this season. with Burnley being the only disappointment but I think We learned from that and weren't caught with a sucker punch v Utd which was Jose s game plan.

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense. If Liverpool cannot muster up a few shots from distance per game then there is something wrong - if that is Klopp's only other weapon, then the club needs to look for a different manager.}

21 Oct 2016 11:44:33
at least he gets a chance to try and counter it again then, as they say practice makes perfect ;)

21 Oct 2016 12:51:40
Similarly ED, I guess Jose was deflecting hi sir own inabilities when stating Liverpool were not the last wonder of the world?

21 Oct 2016 15:02:39
Ugh. the petty feuding with ed002 (which is exemplified by some of the responses to this post) is so frustrating! In a way I get it cause no one likes to hear criticism of their team and manager, but some people need to take a few breaths and think before responding.

Anyway, regardless of anyones shortcomings, I am curious what ed002 would recommend as a tactic for scoring against an overly defensive setup (the infamous bus parking) . I've discussed this many times with friends and have to admit to not having very good ideas myself. Definitely would appreciate hearing Ed's thoughts on this. Thanks!

21 Oct 2016 15:29:10
I expected Utd to be defensive and counter but never in my wildest dreams did I expect them to be as defensive as they were. The fact is if they played like that against every team there's only a few in Europe that would break them down as they have decent defenders and an even better keeper. It's been said before but it's a huge compliment that they felt a 6-3-1 formation was the only way they could get a result.

21 Oct 2016 15:23:47
As Klopp said, you can't win a game by talking about it after, so let's move on. 4th in the league and playing well, same cannot be said for Snourinho and his boring long ball brigade! haha.

21 Oct 2016 16:49:37
I don`t know why people are giving Ed02 a hard time about this. Klopp already said that it was up to us to break them down and we didn`t because we were too nervous and were not cool enough to to make the passes in a more accurate manner. Ed02 might have a different opinion of Klopp than many of us, myself included but to needle him or her because of that is wrong when the truth is being told about our performance. Klopp`s already taken responsibility for it so beating up on Ed02 for repeating what Klopp himself has said is just stupid and frustrating. Those doing this should be ashamed of themselves.

21 Oct 2016 18:58:06
Like it or not, I think Ed002 is right about our failure to break ManU down even when we knew in advance that they were going to play exactly the way they did, especially in the second half. I differ slightly in the sense that I think the boys should share a part of the blame, but overall, it's the manager that comes up with game plans, and in this case, it was clear from the beginning what ManU was about in that game. We had weeks to prepare for it and at the end we were restricted to two saves, one from Emre Can, who was easily one of the worst players on that day for Liverpool, and the other from 30 yards out from Countinho, who tried the same trick half a dozen times against Burnley without any success.
Just going about this idea of Mourinho and ManU won't help us a bit because I bet any teams will come to Anfield looking to replicate that style. It's up to is to knuckle down and find solutions, just as Klopp himself as admitted, rather than keep crying about the results from the ManU game which we can't do anything about anymore.

21 Oct 2016 13:43:30
Ed 2. I assume you're fishing here! But what manager in the league do you think would have had the tactics to break United down? Looked to me as if the only way we could score was with a long range effort or a mistake from them. There was no space.

Also, were you impressed with Klopp's tactics to stop United's counter attacking threat?

{Ed002's Note - Why try to defelect to make it about other managers? The bottom line is it was a failure by Klopp to adapt his team to what was coming - and that is because his game remains largerly based on young boys running very quickly at the opposition.}

21 Oct 2016 14:20:21
get a new manager? haha let's get someone like morinho then so I can retire from watching football.

21 Oct 2016 15:57:24
Both Liverpool and to a greater degree United are teams still in development. Klopp is taking us forward and we can ignore any wind-ups about a lack of ability to break down a team cotaining the world record signing, the no.1 goalie in the prem, etc etc. In all probability we would have lost that game last year. By the same logic Ed 002 applies, obviously Mourinho is a limited manager because he failed to put out a side that couldn't beat a Liverpool side he knew would play a certain way. Wind us up if we don't beat West Brom by all means.

{Ed002's Note - Mourinho put out a team not to concede a goal and to get a goal if he could. How many more years transition do Liverpool need - it seems a very long time since Benitez was getting the club in to the top four year on year?~

21 Oct 2016 16:29:43
Tbh Ed02 I thought it was an awful game all round. The way they set up, but obviously he is allowed to set up and play ant style he likes. And from the kick off we just didn't click, nothing went to plan. Partly to how the played. But of course down to how we played also, nothing clicked. A few moments when we looked a little bit like taking the game to them. Not slating the team. Just an off day. Ed02 is right in the sense that many teams will play like that and we need to break them down. Anyway West Brom next. Let's hope we are looking better. Looking forward to the game.

21 Oct 2016 16:37:28
Did klopp not make the changes by taking Sturidge off completely changed the floor of the game.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the "floor of the game" is.}

21 Oct 2016 19:38:54
Ed002
Couldn't agree with you more on comment about
Benitez.

What I used to enjoy during Benitez time mostly was
Last 15 minutes Liverpool used to Attack Attack
And try to score goals.

Which is lacking since he left.
But I have high hopes this season from Klopp,
Cause when Liverpool played season with no European
Football under Bredan Rodger we almost lost Title.

This year there is absolutely no excuse to finish out
Of TOP 4.

22 Oct 2016 05:47:44
Sorry Ed spell check on my phone was meant to say flo of the game.

{Ed002's Note - Some sort of sanitary system?

21 Oct 2016 08:26:58
Hi Ed's,
Wanted to get your opinion on decision to sign Gini Wijnaldum.

I am not slating him, I am satisfied with his performance so far.

My reason for questioning his signing is because we have many players to play in that position and they have not been getting chance.

I personally like to see more of Stewart/ Gujic/ Branagan be given the chance from bench and Can/ Lucas being used together with Henderson.

I have to trust our Manager on this but would like to know your opinion on the Necessity to sign another Midfielder.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - none of those players you mention are similar to Wijnaldum in style of play, though they do play the same position. While I do agree it was an odd signing, in a position we didn't need, my issue is more with the lack of outgoings. Though that was more down to the club than Klopp.}

21 Oct 2016 08:49:11
Thanks for your reply Ed.
I only fear that the players from Academy Stewart/ Brannagan/ Chrivella
won't get enough chance to earn a place and end up leaving Liverpool.

I watched the Game of Allah (Hertha Berlin) he is also a decent player but there are far too many Big names ahead at Liverpool before these players get a decent chance.

{Ed001's Note - I agree, we do need to reduce numbers, and I really want to see Chirivella get a good chance, in particular.}

21 Oct 2016 09:18:06
I think Wijnaldum has been really good for us this season. When he signed I expected him to play further up the field in place of Lallana maybe.

I think we missed him badly against MU and it showed how big of a step up he is from Can. Can was given his chance the other night and showed he is good enough to play in League Cup games, maybe a bit of defensive cover here and there, but that's about it.

For me Can slowed the game down every time he touched the ball. Wijnaldum forward passing is excellent, is much quicker at starting attacks and has been involved in a lot of the quick counter-attacking goals we have scored this season. His assists stats don't reflect how important he has been to the team as it is the player who plays the final ball who gets credited with the assist, not the man who started the attack and left the opposition flat footed.

I had my head in hands when we signed him {why? why? why? )

I can see now though (aaaahhhhhhh! )

21 Oct 2016 09:36:55
So funny how people change their opinion so quick. Can was the next Viera, Next Keane, Next Souness and what more. No chance of gamnes unless Wijnaldum is injured.
Could some one tell me Y did we even sign Grujic?

21 Oct 2016 10:19:18
grujic will get his chances over the course of the season i'm sure.

21 Oct 2016 12:06:35
Grujic is only 21 and adapting to the pace and higher standard of the Premier League in comparison to the Serbian League. I'm sure he'll get his chance in well selected league games and cup games soon enough. he's currently building up fitness and form in the u23s and looked a cut above the rest in the recent United match, with his passing in particular standing out as well as his clever movement and him using his physique to good effect.
