You've gotta love Brian Mcdermott's comments after the game; "it was funny because all the passing movement that they created didn't really hurt us". Boy, that man's lucky were the worst finishers in the league or it would've been much, much worse.

AsianRed

You do wonder what match people are watching sometimes after a comment like that.

People need to understand that its near impossible for us to sign the likes Llorrente, Falcao, Jovetic etc.

I think we need 2 more attackers, a Striker and a Wing-forward/winger.
I would be very satisfied if we sign Hooper & Sturridge. We are not a top team anymore, Newcastle n Everton are on our level or even higher so them 2 would be great

However i would like us to look at at these players for the ST & WF role

ST & WF
Gary Hooper-st-24
Ba-st-27
Heung Son-st/wf-21
Strurridge-Wf/St-23
Walcott-Wf-23

Also some players from other leagues i researched.

Henrikh
Mkhitaryan- 23-Shaktar Donetsk has a great goal scoring record- this season 12 Apps 14 Goals

Abdul Majeed
Waris - 21- BK Häcken in the Swedish league - 22 Apps 19 Goals

Aron Jóhannsson - 21- Aarhus GF in Norway - 12 APPS 12 GOALS

Even though not the best leagues but for early 20 year old players a fantastic goal ratio

F5

Yeah, Aarhus is in Denmark. Good "research".

Wasn't Aarhus an old Madness song?

Could the eds just tell us who we are interested in at this point in time?

Thanks Jane x {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts Jane x. I remember Malcolm X, are you related?}

No i am not related..i don't even know who he is and my name is Jane but i just added a kiss so Jane x

I am reading them but some peoples comments are very unrealisitc like Torres coming back - highly unlikely and people pulling names out of thin air chancing their arm their right like ive been told from a good source and so forth.

Like you eds know more than us fans and just wanted to know what targets we are actually interested in?

Thanks Jane {Ed063's Note - If you don't know who Malcolm X is then you seriously need to pick up a history book Jane}

Ed your wit is superb lol

How can anybody not know who Malcolm x is? Did you not study history at school?

nervy win on sat but a vital one. everton and newcastle next. we have a good record against everton lately but this will be a tough game, they have being going well, glad qpr took points off them today.

what ever about everton i want to thrash that newcastle, is it just me or is alan pardew the most annoying p***k in football right now. had one half decent season and you would think they won something. there last major honour was 1969. pardew has never won a major honour with any club but talks a like he is a top manager.

sorry for the rant but had a bad day, then saw pardews ugly mug on telly so jumped on football banter to cheer me up.

B O H

Pardew, pulis or warnock, cant decide which manager i hate more

Hi Ed's been a while since I posted I just wanted to wait a couple of months before I assessed the team.

I think it's been clear for a while, and was certainly highlighted once again during the Reading game that we lack a presence in the box; someone who can get between the two centre backs, and wait for the end of a cross or to be played through or to feet.

Hooper's name has been mentioned and for 7m he would be a good shout. he has a great record for Celtic and has carried his goalscoring form into Europe, but personally I think a lot of his goals relies on his partnership with Anthony Stokes. If we played a 4-4-2 and he had Suarez doing the hard work for him then that would be good but I can't seeing him fitting into BR's system as it stands. I can't see him playing as the lone striker, because in BR's system as it is he would would have to work hard to find space, and be capable of getting on the end of crosses.

Instead, I think we should go all out for Damiao in January, as he has everything required of a lone striker; goals, stength, hold up play, good touch, aerial ability etc. I couldn't believe it that after being linked with Europe's elite that we had actually managed to have a meeting with him and his agent to discuss a move on deadline day, unfortunately it didn't materialise apparently due to his wage demands. But if wages are the issue, then surely selling Cole (90k a week)and Downing (70k a week) in January, then we could easliy afford his wages.

I would also just like to touch on BR's system. I don't know what the rest of you think but I would just like to remind people of Man City in the 2010/11 season, where Mancini played the exact same system, and they were heavily critisised by fans and pundits alike for not scoring the goals they should. Then last season he sacrifices de Jong and plays an attacking midfielder instead, and they win the league. I'm not saying that would happen to us, but they saw a rise for 3rd to 1st, that's 2 league positions for replacing a holding midfielder with an attacking one.

We need someone who can get into the box, and Sahin on 3 occasions has score from inside the box. If we changed it from a 4-5-1 to a 4-2-3-1, with Sahin infront of Gerrard and Allen, surely we would score more goals? There was an entire area including the 6 yard box and the area outside the box that Liverpool players rarely where in. Surely by allowing Gerrard or Sahin to play further up would improve our chances? At least at home, because why do we need a holding midfielder against the likes of Reading and Stoke where we are going to control the game anyway?

Ok enough with my opinions on who we should sign and tactics. I just want to say lastly what a great job the club is doing with the youngsters. It's great to see a fresh bunch of young, hungry kids coming through and breaking into the first team. Sterling, Shelvey, Robinson, Suso, Wisdom, Yesil; They are all mouth watering prospects.

The one crucial thing missing is = a goalscorer, and seeing as we are one of the biggest clubs in the world, I don't see why we can't atrract best the world has to offer (within reason).

Keep going lads and shout out to the under 21's and Rodolf Borrell. And here's to a great January window.

Keeping the Faith,

MikeyRed92

In most of the games we have been playing 4-2-3-1 already

Ed's would I be right in thinking that the owners are willing to back the manager's transfer spending but they are just reluctant when it comes to the wages? {Ed002's Note - No, it really does not work like that.}

21 Oct 2012 21:09:07
There's lots of talk about Daniel Sturridge and a £10 -£15 million move in January but its also less reported that his 4 year deal expires in 2013. Liverpool won't pay mega millions in January for a player who would be free 6 months later - the same could be said with Walcott. If both players can be tempted to sign a pre-contract agreement in Jan (and its a MASSIVE if) then expect a player (less high profile) in on loan to 'cover' till the end of season - On the back of this I've heard Liverpool are monitoring John Guidetti's performances at City, presumably as a (or the) potential loan option. {Ed001's Note - they can't sign a pre-contract for any team in the English league in January.}

Guidetti has just signed a new long term contract with City, and they will not loan him to us.

21 Oct 2012 20:42:48
any interest in that charlie adam guy? those free kicks are easily worth 10mil i bet even fergie would agree with me on that one after seeing that perfectly placed ball in the box for rooney to acceidently head into his own net! just wondering :)

I'm glad piennar won't be playing against us next week, him and Baines have been brilliant down the left hand side for Everton this season, and I would worry about those two having a go at suso and wisdom. Now that threat is much less potent and believe we will have too much quality and creativity for them with Sahin Suarez Sterling and co!

No worries, they will beat you anyway.

Not so sure.
Looked a poor decision and the Bitters could ask for the red to be rescinded.

No worries, no one values your opinion.

21 Oct 2012 21:33:56
We turn up for the big games so no doubt Stevie and Suarez will play a blinder, but our Blue neighbours will want a win just as much as we do and they're doing very wel at the moment...one things for sure it will be a great game as long as the ref is fair, to both teams that is not just to us. Really looking forward to it! May the best team win!

You cant appeal for 2 yellow cards.

They can't appeal 2 yellows he wont be playing,

Obviously gerrard will start against everton but if you where the manager would you start him?
He always ups his game against the big teams (and everton), but he always looks like a red card waiting to happen as well.
Readers of my posts will know my criticisms on gerrard but if I was the manager on this occasion I would start him.
I can see him upping his game and working flat out, I would risk him doing something stupid, then take him off when he's spent. Prob after 70 mins. For sahin/shelvey.

MIKEY

21 Oct 2012 20:52:19
Mikey how many red cards have Gerrard got in his all carrer. Sry mate shelvey is the biggest risk when comes to cards at the moment and I'm no saying this coz of united but if we are honest then shelvey is poor when comes to tackling

21 Oct 2012 20:56:32
Gerrard has got Fantastic record against everton then any player in our team he must play and don't forget this is Rodgers first game against everton which he is going to fill the pressure considering everton form

Gerrard will start and play 90 mins.

Im just glad that Mikey isnt the manager. Gerrard has been a regular under Rodgers, Kenny,Hodgson,Rafa, Houllier & under England Hodgson again, Capello etc etc. I hope you can see where this is going. Gerrard is seen by all these managers (and more) that he was and still is an asset. Red cards or not.

The Irish Rover

What on earth do you have against Stevie G?

21 Oct 2012 19:43:50
I keep hearing dumb comments we are a poor team. We played both Manchester clubs of the park and only walked away with a point. Fans on here were calling out "it's a results game" so we walk away with 3 points yesterday and now it's about the performance. Can't win comes to mind (but we did). If we can pick up 7 points in the next 3 big games again we will be right in the mix. Key everton and Newcastle players suspended and injured will give us an even better chance. Sterling by the way always seems to make the right pass. Better than giggs at this age.

Don't get me wrong Sterling is good, with a great career ahead of him, but he's not better than Giggs was at that age.

West brom sunderland stoke two points from nine.

I think players are better and fitter now than back when giggs was 17 but still think sterling has a bit to go to be better than giggs but defiantly has the potential to be as good as .

YNWA

Jamesy

I agree with the first post that sterlings final ball & game intelligence is better than giggs at the comparative age,when questioned on a comparison between giggs & best bobby charlton said although giggs was a good player the aspect of his game which never developed was his final pass & had a tendency to knock it in without looking & in his opinion best was better in this area,sterling has a long way to go yet & will have up's & downs as he develops but he has the ability,personally think sterling is more heighway than giggs......
Paisley's genius

West brom, sunderland 2 points from 9?? You can only get a maximum 6 points from those games and we only got 1. Early days those games and the team is more settled with wisdom, susp and sahin being introduced. Bring it on top 4 here we come

January is not the time to be wasting money on high profile players who are unproven in the premier league. People need to really think about what they are saying. Ok so people dont see Suarez as a world class finisher. I agree that he is wasteful but atleast he is creating opportunities out of nothing & he does pass the ball to players he feels will do something positive with it. Now people are saying lets buy Mertens in January from the Dutch league because he knows where the goal is but when Suarez was playing a similar position as Mertens for Ajax he was more prolific than Mertens is. Dirk Kuyt was also prolific in that league but even though he gave 110% week in week out, even as his biggest fan, I couldn't say he was prolific in the EPL. Neither could anyone else for that matter. Now getting back to Suarez passing the ball. Last season he was sorrounded by people who could pass the ball superbly but they lack flare like Adam, Henderson & Downing. Gerrard was the only player who was a serious goal threat as Carroll seemed more of a target man. But now we have Suso, Sterling, Shelvey & Sahin who he can pass the ball to & feel like they will make something happen out of nothing.
Another thing Gerrard hasn't really had agood run of games because of injury prior to this season. Shelvey was out on loan. Suso & Sterling hadn't emerged yet & Allen is in his first year at the club. With all due respect I think he is more at advanced than Lucas was in his first year at a similar age & he turned out to be one of our best players. As for buying a left back in January, I think Johnson, Enrique & Robinson should be enough to get us to summer. Enrique just needs to settle into his rhythm & find some momentum. He looked good playing on the left flank yesterday & I thought Johnson covered him excellently. Than BR can get the leftback of his choice at value for money. All that to say all we need is a good goal scorer in January.

If we dont waste money as you say in january on a high profile player r any striker for that matter,who can turn them chances were creating into goals,we wont be getting no high profile players at all in the summer cause we wont be in the champs lge full stop,br seems a bit reluctant to give yesil morgan pacheco a run,so there for he has to spend in jan and try get someone to score,r where going nowhere..rd

Soo you ramble on then to say we need a goal scorer?

and this thing about players being unproven in the premier league get real

Downing & Carroll premier league proven cost us £55m yet they only managed to score 6 goals in 83 premier league games combined??

whats my point...why not buy mertens? he is better than downing and at £10.5 - 12m is 9-7m less than downing was

Actually, I think we can use the window to make a real sign of intent of the club's ambitions. It's great that we have players for the future but we need to get a goalscorer capable of playing in BR's system. If it requires £££ then so be it.

Ok you cant have ur cake & eat it too. You can't bring the likes of Sterling, Wisdom, Suso, Yesil, Jerome Sinclair, Robinson, Morgan into the first team & expect to be in the position of cfc city & mancs Europa league is giving our kids a chance to show BR what they can do. we will be back in the champions league soon. The development of our kids is top priority for me. Did you realize how wasteful Sterling was before scoring. I was ok with it because thats whats expected of a kid. We may need players but the eds have said January is not the best time to buy players. We need a good striker in January but we should wait to summer to do the rest of our shopping yo get value for money & assess the progress of our youngsters so that we don't bring in players that stunt the development of our youths

Champions League Titles

Manu 3
Chelsea 1

were falling into the same trap as we did in august esecially the last day of the transfer window ,,were all looking forward to who were gona sign,,then bang shock surprise zilch nothing ,,put it this way if br hasnt already got alist of strikers,in which he has already inquired about &ready to sign at least 1 from that list on the 1st day of jan then forget about it,cause itll be 4 months &if no1 comes in on the first day then what have ayre&the rest of the so called recruitment team been doen,ithink were gona have to get used to working on ashoe string budget,for the hole of br contract,which is ashame cause ithink hes the rite man lfc 4life

Spot on mate agree totally !!!!!!

Baz F

Yeah we have to work within a budget but we have all January to get a striker in, earlier the better, I guess we will have to wait n see what happens.....

Ack17

We have all January to get a striker but that lad who wrote the post your responding to is spot on br should have his targets picked out and should have deal done within 1st week r so if not,he wont be getting his 1st choice,he probably be falling back onto a back up signing,which will be no use for team r club.ray

Is this the same guy who yesterday was saying we should be givin yesil, and the otjer young lads a chance ,we will be buying nobody in jan .

We should get hooper can stick the ball in the net and would be cheap tony nj the next dalglish

A shoestring budget? They invested over 100m in transfers its just that KK and Comolli blew most of it.

21 Oct 2012 16:34:52
So it was our worst start for over 100 years, we have only just got our 1st home win in late October yet we are only 3 points behind arsenal.
Grounds for optimism I think. We've been unlucky so far we're only gonna get better!

We are a poor team and we need to hang on in there untill we can sign some decent players in january , we need a top class striker who can convert the chances that are made in every game and louis will make him good just like stevie made torres good. ynwa

We're not a poor team at all and a bit of positive thinking could go a long way.

It was probably one of our worst fixture lists for 100 years.
Plus new manager, new style of play and new players.
We are doing very well to be just 3 points short of arsenal.

MIKEY

We are not a poor team and we have showed we are just as good as the top teams on our day, we just dont have a proven goal scorer or two. when this problem is sorted i think you will find we will probably win a lot more consistently.
huddz red

All that's missing is a goalscorer. Simple. Go get one. ASAP.

21 Oct 2012 16:46:49
Post this up Ed..first time poster and the israeli guy who posted up about Tomer Hemed is true!

He will arrive in January window from Mallorca!
This guy can score and is so underrated its unbelievable but he is the real deal and we will get him cheap for around 6m pounds

Also expect Gary Hooper to arrive in January and thats our business done

The only other piece is regards both walcott and sturridge...Rodgers one of either but and Big BUT Walcott won't come if hes not the loan striker and rodgers sees him as winger forward so hes NOT Coming and Sturridge Rodgers only wants a loan which is SMART because if he turns out to be a flop he can return to chelsea but they want to offload him fully to fund for someone else..so it won't be happening either.

Finally Rodgers wants an Attacking Winger forward but is going to give Downing until Summer to prove his worth due to the squad being very thin

So to conclude expect Tomer Hemed and Gary Hooper to sign in January

In the Summer expect big business with Downing, Enrique,Carroll,Spearing,Pacheco,Henderson all to be offloaded and expect Spanish flair players to come..can't wait now for January first of all and Summer next

Knowitall

For the last time Gary Hooper is not leaving Celtic. He is close to agreeing a new deal.

Hemed has got good stats, 5 goals in 7 starts this season..

Phooey..

If stats of 5 in 7 are good stats why is everyone moaning about Suarez?

Chris in Tamworth

Ive never moaned about Suarez, Chris
but to add to that stat he has scored 5 goals in his last 2 international games.

Phooey...

Suarez has had the chances to get 10 in 7 chris. I'm not moaning but maybe he could spend some extra time in training learning to finish better. He's a great player but he's still not a great finisher.
Some people say he's more of a playmaker than a poacher and I'm one of them but he gets in the right positions often enough to be both.
I'm only nit picking though he's had a fantastic start to the season.

MIKEY

Phooey, I wasn't really having a pop at you I'm just amazed at the amount of people on here who bang on about Suarez not being a good enough finisher. I've even seen posters suggesting he should be sold!
Obviously I do agree we need another quality striker and as I've said before I'd like it to be Remy but I'd be just as happy to see a lesser name come in if he can do the job

Chris in Tamworth

Hi ed, is there any truth in the rumours regarding alexis sanchez or arda turan to liverpool? And what strikers have we been linked with that u know of? #LFC {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath just yet over Sanchez or Arda. As for strikers, we have discussed a number who have been looked at - you need to read the posts or try teh search function.}

21 Oct 2012 15:26:10
Here is a list of strikers that we should be looking at in my opinion. Some will be difficult to attract though. Llorente soldado daimoa hooper ba Walcott sturridge piere-amerange gamerio long huntellar.

My personal preference would be diamoia but that would be difficult. I think taking a chance on hooper at 7 million wouldn't be a bad idea. -

Can't see the point in playing good money for Walcott or Sturridge who have both failed in their current team. I know they are both relatively youngish but would prefer a less obvious striker. We need to buy 2 strikers and use Yesil and Morgan this season. aklfc

Were behind arsenal, spurs and city for llorente, behind spurs for damiao, saldano and hunterlaar, behind arsenal for saldano and ba {Ed001's Note - Arsenal, Spurs and City for Llorente? You mean Juventus surely?}

21 Oct 2012 13:45:58
Hey eds, Could you please clarify the situation regarding one of our keepers Alexander Doni? He seems to be cast aside and in no mans land. Do you know what his story is? Is he rated at all by the manager? Will he be moved on soon or will he get a chance to prove himself? {Ed002's Note - I would doubt that you will see Doni playing for Liverpool again. I suspect he will be released or leave on a free transfer in January and perhaps reappear playing for a Brazilian side - perhaps Santos.}

What is it he has done tho ed, something doesnt seem right, Im sure he was in the stand next to Renia on Sat. Has he been up to no good?

Scottybhoy1888 {Ed002's Note - Why do you see gossip in everything?}

21 Oct 2012 15:05:10
I,m watching Newcastle v Sunderland match and consider us to be lucky that we didn't sign Adam Johnson no end product no comparison to our Sterling and Suso the latter will go on to be a real quality player with touch and vision.

Mike

Well said Mike. Also saw that Hoilett will get a start vs the bitters later today. A guy cannot get in the QPR team yet some were clamoring for us to go for him too. We've got ample quality defenders and midfielders and just need a poacher type quality striker IMO. Maybe that guy. I'm happy to blood the youth in the Cups and have people who want to play for the badge. A striker in January

Yeah I have to admit I was on here saying we should sign adam johnson but I'm soooo glad we didn't sign him now, another over rated over priced player that is exactly the same as Walcott n sturridge...... Not good enough for Liverpool fc

21 Oct 2012 14:32:57
I really believe we are a top striker away from a competitive side, we saw yesterday how chances are coming from left right and centre and not being converted. I love Suarez but that CF role does not suit him, I think he needs to be tried as a CAM, keeping Sterling and Suso on the wings and bringing in a new striker. I'd take Huntelaar personally, nearing the end of his contract, fox in the box type, give him a 3 year contract, if he converts even 20%, he can fire us back into the CL in a season or two. I really want BR to keep playIng our young lads on the wings, don't want them to end up on the bench and then in 4 or 5 years scoring against us for Chelsea or City...

No chance hunterlaar

Whether LFC are interested in him or not, I think we have the ability to get him if we moved for him in Jan, if we waited until the summer, no chance...

21 Oct 2012 13:37:10
League position -
End of November - 8th
End of December - 7th

I think our second half of the season will be brilliant and am hoping we can finish in the top 5.
I hope that's not too optimistic of me, but just think what our young squad will be moulded into.

There is a lot of games still to be played this season. Pending a striker in January, we only need a touch more confidence and we should melt the net a lot more often.

I'd be happy with 6th

BthekingB

Considering the mess we are still sorting out I'd be happy with 6th and a good run in the cups, if we won a cup I'd be happy, if we won Europa I'd be really really happy. We are well and truly a work in progress. Improving on 8th last season with a reduced squad and a season filled with youth players getting plenty of playing time would be great

At the start of the season I like many fans believed the fixture list for the start of the season to be unkind. However recently i realised we couldnt ask for more of it think about. We allways have poor starts to the season and the team needs time to gel so better we get poor results from big teams (all tho they weren't all bad city in particular) than small teams now the team is settled and know what they're doing we can pick up some points and gain confidence like we did against Norwich and reading its perfect! Rodgers and the team are going to have a successful season YNWA
P.S anyone notice on Being Liverpool that Rodgers says the word okay like every sentence!

Just shows what that home win does for our confidence and the team. Need to build on it with more wins, which is a lot easier said than done. Everton away next have to be realistic a point there wouldnt be a disaster. After that up until xmas our home games look very easy and need to take advantage and get them wins, with decent away performances we should be in a good position come xmas top 6 i would say. Ynwa keep pushing on you reds jdog

Our recent results vs Everton is exceptional. They are in 4th so I think the pressure is on them to prove they are the better team and they are playing at woodison too. They have a decent team but nothing exceptional. I think we can take them if we play like we've played in the bigger games, although as I said yesterday I happily play ugly and eek out a 0-1 win. The blues have a good back 4 and Pienaar and the Q-tip (if available) are decent along with Jalavic. The rest are journeymen we should have too much class but it is a derby none the less. there'll be a red early just hope it not for us. I'd play gerrard right side and jonjoe in CAM for this one with suso coming off the bench. 3 big weeks coming up.

A professional, mature performance yesterday. Emphatic finish by Raheem and solid display from good ol' Brad.
Good result and a welcome clean sheet.
Great relief finally getting off the mark at home.

7 points out of 9's a pretty nifty return.
6 goals for to 2 against is encouraging.
Now 5 points off 4th and 3 behind Arsenal, who lost yesterday.
Spurs losing was another welcome news.

Next up, Everton and Chelsea, with Newcastle sandwiched between.
Goodison will no doubt be as stern as they come. Good team and on a high right now.
That said, I expect that we'll claim the first of our customary 3 points. This game will be our springboard.

Newcastle I don't expect that we will meet with much difficulty disposing of this lot. 6 goals we've scored against them to 1 last 2 league games at Anfield, is it? Doesn't bode well for them. We invariably seem to reserve our best scoring form particularly for them.

Chelsea, mmmmmhm! Trick one. Very lethal attackers. They are enjoying an impressive scoring form.
Tall order.
Saying, there's grounds for optimism.

Last time LFC lost a league game at Stamford Bridge, Rafa was in charge, 2009/10. We've won our last 2 league games there. Of the last 6 league matches with them, 4 of those were won by us.
No other team has a better record at Chelsea than us the last 4 years.

We could very well be the side to inflict Chelsea's first league defeat and do it at their own ground.
As for their attackers, talented and lethal as they are, I'm actually quite not unnerved at all, to be honest.

Liverpool has often shown a genetic knack for nullifying top individual players. It's rare that I've seen an individual player/s running riot against us.
Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Fabregas, Toure , Bale, Yaya, RVP are some of the players that, 8/10 times we've kept at bay.

Our defence has been far from impressive this term, but still were able to own RVP and City's "galacticos".
Hazard, Mata and Oscar aren't invincible.
And it so happens that I'm firmly convinced that we'll have them (and the rest of their team) in the pocket and comfortably collect our points.

This is one game I'm looking forward to.

WILLIE

Losing to Chelsea isnt a bad thing really, they are genuine title challengers so if we was to lose then as long as its not from dominating them and missing 1000 chances we shouldnt beat ourselves up. having said that if we kept a run going and drew or even beat chelsea it would give us a real nice booster to get us thru til jan. I honestly think we`re good enough to hold off chelsea but 1 slip up and they have the quality to kill us off .

Torres trying to make things up with Liverpool he must realise he made a mistake moving to Chelsea and now wantes to return. Needs to take a leaf out of Alonso book, he left but was forced out and he didnt say anything bad, still loves us.

He doesn't want to return, he's just started scoring again and Chelsea are flying high. Plus he's on ridiculous wages.

ChrisMiz

He's just won the Champions League, F.A Cup and has a good chance of winning the Premier League with Chelsea. Why on earth would he want to come back to Liverpool?

Have you not seen the league?

Torres wanrts to come back because he is deluded

BR has spin one of his yarns and Torres has fell for it much like many of you.

2 wins from 8 games in the EPL from messiah BR

If BR is the answer somebody has asked the wrong questions
The Bells

Torres allegedly quoted as saying "at tines last season in the champions league I did not care whether chelsea won or lost" things may have improved on the pitch he may have won 2 medals,but at Liverpool he was genuinely revered,all teams have the egotists but at Chelsea it must be like swimming in a sea of vomit,as the joker said it in batman "you just don't get it do you it's not about the money"....

I see very little in the media about Kenny Daglish's comments that it is now time for the FA to be brought to account for their involvement in Hillsbourgh and the cover up.
As a Root Cause Analysis, if the FA had listened to the requests NOT to use Hillsbourgh and/ or LFC fans to use the larger end of the stadium, 96 people could still be alive.
Justice for the 96 , YNWA

A lot of worried people at the f.a. As hillsborough did not even have a safety certificate,which is staggering & the fact the f.a. Knew this & allowed the semi final to be played there is at best incompetence & at worst criminally negligent,any company that owns a commercial or industrial property has a duty of care under law for the welfare of the people who are in attendance there,I would also believe that the f.a. In the organising of a competition would have a duty of care,expect blame shifting & smears in the oncoming years ahead & further demonisation of Liverpool fans,the people of Liverpool & the city itself in the media,in the interest of maintaining a negative stereotype,how laughable they all are in an inability to accept their own failings,our so called piers of society,as always we will have to be better than the image they wish to portray,we should not be too difficult there are 96 of us that already are and always will be......jft96 y.n.w.a

If people want a yard stick of how we're developing and how far we still have to go, compare our performance with 10 men against West Brom against that of Man City's. Man City dominated possession and won.

Whilst we're improving, we still have major strides to make before we're challengers again.

I'm very positive about the future under Rodgers, but also very realistic!

Raoul

Every game is different on a different day.. Remember we played well against man u with ten men.. And played alot better than man city .. Best judgement of how well we are doing is the table at the end of season.

Think comparing us to City is the wrong way to go, we are about 6 or 7 years behind city the way they have developed recently.
Compare us to Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton. Unfortunatley thats were we are at the moment.
I dont think Newcastle will be the same this season as they were last, Arsenal proved yesterday they will be top 4 challengers again, not title contenders. Still hoping Everton drop off in the coming weeks and months and they wont have much to spend in January and Spurs proved yesterday with out Bale they are well behind the top teams.

Jay

Different games, different days, different scenarios. i'm pretty certain we totally dominated man city when they had 11 men with yaya toure coming off the pitch and declaring it the hardest game he'd played in during his time in the premier league...

Not LFC related but I think Ferguson is out off order threatening to punish Ferdinand for defying his orders and not wearing the "kick it out" tops. As always he thinks that his opinion is the "only one that counts"! Ged

Yeah I agree with that mate. You would expect better from fergie. As much as I can't stand rio it's up to him if he wants to wear a pointless tshirt promoting a pointless campaign.
If the FA want to kick out racism then kick it out, don't just hand out pointless fines to multi millionaires and a 4 match ban.

MIKEY

What is their to disagree with Fergie about.
I dislike the man with a Passion but.
Rio had been at the forefront of the PFA "union" kick racism out of football campaign. Then when justice is serviced and he doesn't like the punishment he is
Now against The campaign.
Its hard to figure but is he now "For"Racism in football

Which he could be means as he agreed Ashley Cole been called a "Choc-ice" on twitter "slightly racist it's self"

Or can you have your cake and eat it after all

I don't know why fans want carrol back. We have agreed deal with westham if they stay up we will get 17/18m for him if we call him on January then the deal will be off. Just imagine if we get 17/18M for him and add 12/13M from our kitty then we have approximately 30M to buy a quality striker don't you think its a fantastic deal for us and will have a chance to buy big name striker which all fans want.

Buying a 30m striker is not an issue of the transfer fee but an issue of wages! FSG will not pay the wages of a top top striker demands!

Carroll was 35m plus 70-80k a week, Agueto was 38m plus 250k a week (on a 5 year deal thats 60m in wages) Can you see the issue!

NS

The key is to make players believe that we are not far from a champions league spot. Most top players want to play champions league football. If we get up in the top 6 then we can make players believe!

Or we will just have to be very, very shrewd!

Trust in BR.

Lee

Well my beloved liverpool or Liverpool, and i consider myself as well, west ham 4 southamton 1, and 2 goals came from carrol abilities, this abilities of him wouldve kept us at leaat top 5 or even better on the top of the table, 451 equal 433 now thouae formation work wery good in defending, to brake 451 its harder 2 brake 422 specialy in the premier league where from the defence till atacking its everyfing everifing its wery but wery fisical game, so u might end up scoring 1 or 2 goals in la liga or serie a, but in premier league u need a luck of loose ball or stoped ball (corners, free kiks etc) dor the oppening goal, look simple liverpool score frome a loose ball, a header came from nofing to suares and he setit up 2 sterling and goal, so with carrol he wouldve provide us more and alor more loose ball for goal scoring oportunities, specialy on stoped ball moments. So rodgers and all liverpool fans do petition and bring back carrol qe need his special skils, now any team now a day defend wif 451 qnd atact at the same time from 433. We r not barcelona we r liverpool we got 5 euros and barca got 4 but in playing we r not even any near to chelsea, man city and arsenal. And rodger want to make us play like barca dont make me laf, first get us in champions league, win it again, and then play like barca wif 65000 croud stadium

21 Oct 2012 11:19:23
Ns mate they are lots of quality strikers there who will want to play footy rather then sit on bench and demand decent wages.don't forget we excepted to give Suarez 120k a week. I'm sure if our club think players can take us foward or another level then will pay decent wages for them eg 120-140k a week not every top players demands 250k a week. Higuain gets 120-130 a week and sits on madrid bench he is desperate for playing footy week and week out at the same time madrid want to sell him. Llorente gets 80k a week from Bilbao and wants to leave he won't demand wages near 250k a week same with Damiao. So they are lots of quality players who won't demand big wages only players who sign for city or psg then they demand big wages coz they know they will get it even chelsea don't pay wages anywhere near city or psg

12/13m from our kitty?
Didn't realise the anfield cat made so much from appearances.
Money has ruined football.

Spot on lee mate its up to our management to present their project and make it attractive to tempt top players

21 Oct 2012 13:28:38
Carrol was on 90k I believe I could be wrong, and we will pay wages for a quality Striker, but he has to prove his worth at our club before we do. How many fans were crying over loosing potential targets to Spurs and Southptn. I honestly don't think we missed out on them as they have done nothing at there respective clubs yet. Rogers few purchases he made, I'm entirely happy (still on the fence with borini) I firmly believe he can spot a bargain and won't pay over the odds, or we'll end up with the likes of Cole and Downing I honestly think we won't get 10mil for both of them. Don't buy old English Players. The best English players we have at our club were developed by our academy or we bought them very young and mold them. Leem

Because we have 1 striker left!

21 Oct 2012 14:42:01
Yesil, Morgan, Borni, Assaidi can play upfront, I'm well aware of that we lack a finisher my point was that its pointless sitting with a dud on high wages, buy the striker we need, not an emergency fix on high wage, comprehension buddy. Leem

21 Oct 2012 09:26:32
hey lfc fans..

i know this project will take time............much like the rafa years........and much like klopp at dortmund

im just impatient cos i want liverpool to be a top team now..it annoys me when i hear redknapp say we will be around 5th-7th place......but the fact is...hes right!

we desperately need a player like MICHU.....the guy is always in the box......and another 5 players......in attacking positions..and we will be a force with the current squad

but rodgers needs to get players in the box.......only sterling went in there........sahin gerrard suso need to make more effort to go in there..which is why johnson had about 20 shots cos he had no options..

good tough win tho when not playing well

red lobster

Really think we should sign Shane Long. He would fit our system and looks a decent lad. Sturridge has to big an ego.

I agree but i think the owners should have signed a quality forward by now. I think Suarez is a great player but not a great striker. A great striker is a player who will not need 10 chances to score a goal. Harry is right this squad is not the best but i think the changes we will make now will be basis of the team for years to come. We have quality kids and with a forward who can score 20-30 goals we will get top 4 but with suarez i can't see that. Yesterday i was praying for a second goal and better teams will hurt us. Suarez is great but he needs a sat nav to find the net finishing is useless for the ammout of chances he has.

Red raj

The good thing with our squad is its unknown how good they could be. Due to all the young players being blooded no one knows how high they can go this season.
At the end of the season Sterling and Suso could have 10 goals each, taking some of the pressure off Suarez, add this to a striker being bought in January and I am quietly optimistic of a higher placed finish than 8th.

Jay

21 Oct 2012 09:24:40
Although we would all agree Suarez is a top player, I fin other areas of his game frustrating. Sometimes Luis lacks any coolness in front of goal and snatches at shots. yesterday he did this a few times, when a calmer finisher like Fowler would have put it away.
Also he can be very selfish and head down and not look up for better options in the final third, but when someone else such as Sterling goes it alone he starts freaking at them on the pitch.
In fact yesterday all the forward players were guilty of ignoring the better option- come on lads, let's give ourselves a cushion and win the game first and then start thinking about personal glory.

He set the winning goal up whats wrong with people the man flew all around the world FFS its a team game if every player tryed as hard as him we would win a lot more games he stands out as the best player on the pitch and used still have to complaine
red rrab

Suarez was superb yesterday but needs to improve his finishing.

Suarez was terrible

He would not kick snow off a rope never mind find the net

21 Oct 2012 09:20:43
Hopefully liverpool do not buy;
Theo Walcott
Daniel Sturridge
In general overpriced overated players

I would much rather see the likes of;
Kevin Gameiro
Phillipe Coutinho
Dries Mertens
Stephen ElShaarawy
Cristian Eriksen
James Rodriguez

Obviously not all the players on that list, but one and two players there that can drastically change our team.

Both players are at the end of their contract,so would be alot cheaper

Funny how you call them overrated and then list a bunch of players with even fewer credentials than the ones you call overrated

I am not too sure about Walcott, think he would be good for us on the wing but I dont want him to block Sterling and Suso from the first team.
I know he says he wants to be a striker but I dont think he could lead the line well enough for us and surely theres a reason Wenger hasn't played him as a centre forward.

Jay

Walcot would score more than suarez down the middle

21 Oct 2012 04:39:30
You're a funny bugger you are. That Messi bloke is another one. How do these lightweight flops even get professional contracts offered to them? ;-)

Melbourne CFC {Ed063's Note - Preaching to the choir my friend. I really have no idea why they even let people play Football if they aren't at least 6 foot}

Quiet ,don't tell spearing

Lil Red {Ed063's Note - Haha}

Spearing is as good as allen {Ed023's Note - That made me laugh}

21 Oct 2012 03:55:33
First it was Ballotelli coming on loan, now you want Dzeko on loan. Ed063 is there a good shout for Aguero on loan in January? Wages shouldn't be an issue

Melbourne CFC {Ed063's Note - Hmm I'm not sure I would want him tbh. He seems too lightweight for the premier league}

21 Oct 2012 02:58:42
D fact is suarez is a genius..they keep complaining what he misses but never talk about what he creates and scores..what I know is any striker that comes in won't be a starter..cos nobody can do the job he's doing rite nw..I suggest we get wingers who can score goals..suso and sterling are rili gud but we need experience in that foward line..

21 Oct 2012 02:58:16
Glen Johnson occupied the left wing for large portions of today's game. Daniel Agger would cover at left back & Allen would drop back to cover Agger's spot at center back. Johnson was such a threat from the left wing that I'm wondering if we should just use him as our starting left winger? Enrique & Johnson looked good together on that left wing because Johnson provides a defensive shield so Enrique could feel more confident. Sterling could then be played centrally!

We only played reading and we were a poor team . {Ed023's Note - Team wasn't poor at all, the finishing was poor}

To be fair in glad we won but second half performances this season have been edgy, yesterday in the first half we dominated the ball and reading didn't get a sniff, second half we stopped passing and the ball was like a hot potato at the back. We looked so weak defensively in the second half. Reading didn't do anything different, we were just poor on the ball. If we'd have played like we had in the first half for the whole game I would have been alot more convinced. Even in the Norwich game, where we played brilliantly, there were moments in the second half where it was to easy for them to put pressure on us. Was disappointed with the two goals conceeded.

Happy were moving in the right direction, some of the football is brilliant. I guess id like to see improvements in two areas, converting chances. Striker in Jan will help. And keeping the dominance maintained throughout the game rather than running round like " headless chickens" in the second half.

3 points behind Arsenal isn't bad though, Optimistic.

If Enrique reproduces the form that he showed when he first signed for us then he should start at left back. Wisdom should start at right back. Johnson & Sterling should be used on the wings. The spine from the back should be Agger & Skrtel with Allen or Lucas in front of them. A choice of Gerrard, Sahin, Shelvey or Suso in the centre midfield positions. Suarez is our only experienced striker. Assaidi should be given chances.

21 Oct 2012 02:37:57
£40m kitty
ins
Center Back; Diego Lugano - £4m

Striker; Gonzalo Higuain - £33m

Winger/Striker; Jeremain Lens - £7m

total cost £44m

outs

Cole £1.5m

Downing £6m

= £7.5m

net spending £36.5m

21 Oct 2012 07:31:10
Lol, as easy as that then, Leem

21 Oct 2012 01:53:23
5 points off fourth, 3 behind arsenal, above newcastle, win another couple and things are looking rosy {Ed063's Note -Thats what makes me laugh most. All these 'expert pundits' have been saying how well Arsenal are doing and how poor we are, yet we sit just 3 points behind them}

21 Oct 2012 01:46:03
i have a really bad feeling that sterling is demanding high wages for some reason {Ed063's Note - Hmm perhaps. Tbh whilst I'd be gutted if he went, if it were a choice between him and Suso staying I'd take Suso. Oh and btw, as Sterling is only 17 he still has another year left on his contract at the end of the season.}

I dont think so i might be wrong if he has any intension of doing something like that we wont be playing him every game and giving him those precious minutes on the pitch and put him in the shopping window. there will be some sort of understanding between sterling Br and the management
Red 316

We have lost better players than him , if he wants out send him on his way but if he is a true red he will stay but we can not shout at him after all we took him from qpr. {Ed023's Note - Sterling will sign a new contract when he is 18}

21 Oct 2012 01:02:46
Oh how I wish we had the money for Falcao, or do we? FSG would fund the buy but problem is wages nd more so we are not champs league!
Cavani - same situation.
We have people to find the players, only problem is the spuds using our scouts for their on gain! It's pathetic, every player we are linked with, so are they!
To hell with buying new strikers, bring out the Yesil!
Bazzaa

21 Oct 2012 00:59:35
Hi Ed how would you feel if we signed Gary Hooper from what I've seen of him he can defiantly finish and with the success of Jelvic who came from the spl could we find a diamond and i imagine he would only cost us a few million . {Ed063's Note - I don't think he's good enough tbh. Ed001 informs me that their other striker, 18 year old Watt is a bit handy though}

21 Oct 2012 00:52:38
to eds and fans, well done to all involved in the game today, I feel good about the way we are playing you do feel they should have more practice at shooting infront of the goal though. I am very anxious about who we will buy in January. I personally think we should go out to buy a striker and not be tight on the money, becaus we definitrly need a quality striker and not just A striker.
What do the eds think?
hisbylfc {Ed063's Note - If we get a striker then they need to be top class. Otherwise i'd rather play Yesil, Morgan and Ngoo}

I agree with Ed it has to be world class or some one who just is at the right place at the right time to put rthem in. Let the other lads create for you. Todays game i wasnt pleased with Suarez he shaould have been taken off at 70 min or so he looked tired. dont have to exhaust him too much

21 Oct 2012 00:52:19
After reading the posts. I think we should judge the league position around the new year. I'd hope we would be in contention with the spuds, gooners, toffees and the barcodes at that stage and then see where we are at in the new year. Regarding the game today, I'd much prefer to take a poor 2nd half performance and still win 1-0 that looking great and losing 3-2 or 2-1. We've done that a lot this recently. 3 points is 3 points. Great goal by Sterling and some quality youths coming through.

Chi-Paul

21 Oct 2012 00:52:18
From what i have seen today i am delighted for Sterling, Rodgers and the teams 1st win at Anfield.
Yes it was not the best performance but after the internationals it is a win!

I agree with another post earlier that Suarez is a worldclass attacking midfielder, leave him float in the three behind the striker on the wings and so forth, but we need a focal point and not lobbing balls onto Carrolls head.

I hope Rodgers if the cash is there to buy a CF, ST and Winger

Realistic CF Targets I Hope:
Soldado
Dzeko
Gomis
Arnautovic

ST
Hooper
Gameiro
Remy
Sturridge

Winger
Mertens
Lens
Walcott

Whatever happens a proven goalscorer is needed badly! Thats all we are missing
Look at the top clubs Dortmund have lewandowski, Madrid have Benzema, Barca have Messi, United with Van Persie and the list goes on

Please FSG..Back Brendan Rodgers in January

Shoutout to Jay Spearing for his goal against Bristol City in Bolton's 3-2 win. Maybe not good enough for Liverpool but, always nice to see one of your home grown do well and i wish him the best of luck.

21 Oct 2012 00:27:55
suarez aint a good instinct finisher this is plain for all us to see he should be sold to raise funds for a striker that can finish the ball yeh he does everying else but we need goals to win games and he aint the answer

I guess 5 goals in the league (One of the highest so far this campaign) isn't that good is it? And i wouldn't get your hopes up since signing a contract extension pretty much means your not leaving for a while...

AsianRed

Stupid post...... to get back anyway near the top 4 we need more than 1 player to score goals so why sell our top goal scorer???

How about we buy a finisher to play with suarez!

All we need is a finisher someone who can play alongside suarez, and a proper right winger/striker

Anyone know how to find the U21 league table/U18 league table?

BthekingB

Go to premierleague.com, Then you will have "Matchday" in the menu list on top and it will show list by itself when you drag mouse pointer on it and you will have Tables in the last column of all competitions.

Hope this helps

Hi Eds, not so much a rumour but more of question/suggestion? Charlie Austin at Burnley ticks some boxes, young, would be within price range and Scores goals! Think he could be worth a gamble. Cheers Sheeny {Ed063's Note - Oh god no}

Dear mr Austin
In regards with your recent visit to our site Liverpool FC would like to thank you for your post. Unfortunately at this time the only striker in the N-Power championship that would interest us recently signed for Blackburn. If you score 25-30 goals this season including 5 in the FA challenge cup, please feel free to re-apply.

The Hooper of Celtic rumours are gathering a bit of pace, as are Downing and Enrique to leave.
I appreciate there won't be a great deal of activity in January but a PROVEN poacher is a MUST !
I would urge us to keep on giving our youngsters chances and Yessil has to be unleashed sooner rather than later. But someone like Hooper would link up well with Suarez and knows where the goal is.
Borini and Morgan will improve but we need goals.......if FSG are serious we'll be spending come January.
P.S. Andre Wisdom was immense today !
ANFIELDPETE

Morgan isn't good enough and will never be.

If we buy hooper hows that say fsg are serious he would cost £4-6m
