When does our buy back end on Ibe? How has he faired since leaving, I've not seen any (maybe one) Bournemouth game aside for against us.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

21 Jun 2017 22:50:46
He's been shocking to put it nice.

21 Jun 2017 23:04:14
Correction Brazil, he's exactly the same as he was with us. Shocking!

21 Jun 2017 23:09:27
Ibe was over coached by Brendan Rodgers so he could play as a wing back. It stifled his flair and he became so focused on possession that he lost his fearless approach.

If he can find that spark, he will be a decent 10 goal a season winger. The ship has sailed on him ever being top level though in my opinion.

22 Jun 2017 00:04:40
When he came into the first team he looked like he could have been a word beater. But for me he never really improved almost regressed to an extent as he lost his flair for beating a player.

Hopefully for him he will find that again because he's still very young and time is more than on his side. Maybe a drop down to the championship for a season or to would rebuild his confidence.

22 Jun 2017 00:24:20
MK, that is a bunch of nonsense.

22 Jun 2017 01:03:26
He left us as a young player with pace and potential, A small fish in a big pond,

He arrived at Bournemouth as their record signing, All of a sudden he was the big fish in a smaller pond.

Every Move and mistake that was ok for a young, learning player at Liverpool suddenly became highlighted as a flaw and a disappointment to the Bournemouth fans. It affected his confidence.

He still has the same talent and potential but will have bad times as every young player has.

He will come good.

And I hope the Bournemouth fans aren't all nasty like some on here.

22 Jun 2017 01:43:37
far too early to say that MK.

22 Jun 2017 06:47:52
Hence why it is an opinion, which I made clear.

22 Jun 2017 07:30:26
Whereas a disagree that the ship has sailed on him ever being a top wide player, (he is far too young to be written off), I do agreee with you that Rodgers over coached him and he needs to rediscover that unpredictability and confidence in his own decision making to succeed.

22 Jun 2017 08:36:57
Ibe's issues are mental, he still has the potential but he lacks confidence in himself. He really needs a loan outside the premier league ti find his real game and i suspect he will blossom. I still maintain that he has the ability to be a very good player.

22 Jun 2017 12:01:45
As Bournemouths record signing at the time I doubt very much that he will be allowed to go on loan, the pressure to produce must be very heavy on his young shoulders.

21 Jun 2017 21:46:30

21 Jun 2017 20:54:25
He's gone to Bayern.

21 Jun 2017 21:04:05
Echo: Reports in germany say that he will decide wether to renew his contract with Schalke or not after the confed cup. Im not sure where you got the information he went to bayern tbh.

He won't be allowed a move this summer that is for sure. Heidel (schalkes manager) stated that a few weeks back.

21 Jun 2017 21:33:00
No problem Ed, thanks a lot echo and crammie.

21 Jun 2017 19:01:32
Quick question if anyone knows the answer, can Allen the young Brazilian play for us during pregnancy season?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

21 Jun 2017 19:22:47
Haha poor lad.

21 Jun 2017 19:24:47
Its inadvisable to play professional sport whilst pregnant.

Not least if you are a young man, as you should probably be in the round the clock care of medical professionals.

So to answer your question, no he can't.

21 Jun 2017 19:32:56
Haha sorry pre season auto correct.

21 Jun 2017 19:33:32
I don't think any of our players will be affected by pregnancy season.

21 Jun 2017 19:35:39
Only if he wears protection.

21 Jun 2017 19:36:48
Nah not for another 9 months mate.

21 Jun 2017 19:38:02
Depends how mad his missus gets about it.

21 Jun 2017 19:42:23
God bless auto correct 😂😂😂.

21 Jun 2017 20:12:33
Ed couldn't you have at least fixed the typo!

{Ed025's Note - i could have jamesy but this little devil was whispering in my ear "dont change it and make him pay for using predictive text".. :)

21 Jun 2017 20:14:16
Let's hope Klipperty hasn't been doing any tapping up during pregnancy season 😳.

21 Jun 2017 20:37:07
Haha fair play ed but no one has still answered the question I asked in the first place!

{Ed025's Note - we are all too busy laughing mate.. :)

21 Jun 2017 20:59:42
Haha well when use are finished if someone could pipe up that would be great.

21 Jun 2017 21:00:15
2 for the price of one, glad the recruitment department has finally started getting their house in order. Bit of a wait for the second signing though.

21 Jun 2017 21:43:25
Jamesy, now the tears have stopped rolling, the answer is no!

21 Jun 2017 22:18:07
Brilliant Ron!

21 Jun 2017 22:18:29
I thought he would be able to play friendlies for us in pregnancy season. I can't see why he's not allowed to play.

21 Jun 2017 22:35:30
Finally thanks zed next question how can he be our player but not allowed to play it backwards.

{Ed002's Note - He can play in friendlies.}

21 Jun 2017 22:36:37
Well least I have given you something to chuckle about mid week!

21 Jun 2017 23:19:56
I took a guess on the basis that I had a 50:50 chance of being right, and if I wasn't someone knowledgeable would correct me. Either way your question would be answered, Jamesy!

22 Jun 2017 01:23:57
I always thought he'd be handy in the box.

22 Jun 2017 02:33:11
"if I wasn't someone knowledgeable would correct me"

You were right about this bit Zed 😎.

22 Jun 2017 08:00:58
Hahaha lfcder this had me in tears again when I woke up touche.

21 Jun 2017 18:50:43
Question for Eds. we are still being linked with wingers. What are your thoughts on Klopp signing more than 1 winger? I think it might be what Klopp wants (I don't think couts and Firminho will play out wide going fwd or that Klopp is trying to bring in a striker with other areas prioritised) . When Klopp came he claimed we had no natural wingers with pace before signing Mane. Would be great to have three in our squad come August.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - would it?}

21 Jun 2017 21:38:04
We should sign another one. Having three natural wingers would mean that we could rotate more and Salah/ Mane will get some breaks. Since we have to play in 4 competitions this year breaks will be important for the players. Especially the onces working the most (like wingers or CAMs) .

I would like to see either getting a youngster with potential (e. g. Mor from Dortmund) or a quality player (e. g. Lucas from Paris) but i think i really depends on the other singings this summer.

If Liverpool goes for another winger this summer he won't cost as much as Salah will cost now.

21 Jun 2017 21:59:03
Demerai Gray is still being touted, but I'd rather we gave Ojo and Wilson a shout as reserves.

22 Jun 2017 08:46:03
Yes it would but that's my opinion, wanted others.

21 Jun 2017 18:15:08
I do not understand why some think we will still sign VVD.

First of all, LFC made it publicaly clear that they dropped interest in VVD.

Secondly, if we now approach Southampton for VVD then the FA will have all the reasons to move in and sweep clean as Liverpool made it clear they dropped interest. Put 1 + 1 together people.

Thirdly, Southampton made it clear VVD is not for sale.

4th, if Southampton did decide to go into negotiations with us re VVD then they will make us pay through our behinds.

It will be utterly daft for Liverpool to knock on Southampton's door now as that is how it should have been done in the first place instead of tapping him up.

City and Chelsea have walked away from VVD because of this whole debacle. If he was going to cost £50m or whatever Southampton valued him at, you can rest assure that Liverpool will have to pay way more than the £50m if they decided to enter in negotiations in the correct manner.

There is absolutely no sense in signing VVD now. Enjoy selecting him in your fantasy football team for next season :-)

Believable8 Unbelievable15

21 Jun 2017 18:28:09
Or we could leave it as the last signing then let the fa do what they please, I do see your point but if VVD wants the move he will make it hell for whoever comes in as the manager to force his own way you seen what Suarez did for his move to Barcelona he's not the only one either to throw the toys out the pushchair to get his own way either.

21 Jun 2017 18:30:47
You do realise that Liverpool offered an apology to appease Southampton. VVD is most definitely available this Summer. We will sign VVD, Klopp wants him, Southampton need the cash and do not want to have a player causing drama especially with a new manager coming in. No doubt in my mind that it will get completed.

21 Jun 2017 18:31:10
I think you are a bit too trusting about what you read.

21 Jun 2017 18:44:24
Cheer up Max. Life's not so bad bud 👍🏼.

21 Jun 2017 18:52:24
Sakho is Boss, Southampton do not need the cash. They are actually a very well run club.

Liverpool especially have made them very financially stable over the years.

{Ed001's Note - Saints are in the middle of takeover talks, cash is not really much use to them right now.}

21 Jun 2017 19:06:02
Exactly Ed001, there is no need for Southampton to sell their prized asset at this point, which they have made clear.

21 Jun 2017 19:27:20
But max, regardless of how we have got here, the player wants a moved and has expressed a public interest in joining Liverpool.

1) Why would the club want a want-away player on their books?

2) Who else will he join?

I still think he will join us, for a large fee and later in the window.

Of course I wish we had done things right as that would've cost us less money, not damaged our reputation further with the FA, Saints and other teams, and (most importantly) have got the player to us sooner and therefore settling in earlier.

However, we are where we are, and I still think VVD will be a Liverpool player by August 31st.

21 Jun 2017 19:26:02
Ed001. The club would look pretty foolish going back in for him fir all the reasons above and the club statement. Would you agree?

We need to move on. De Vrij looks decent imo.

{Ed001's Note - it could also be argued that leaving him stranded there after he made it plain he wanted the move would leave us looking foolish.}

21 Jun 2017 19:54:48
1) Why would the club want a want-away player on their books?
As Ed001 has mentioned, Soton are in the process of take over talks. Do their current owners or future owners care?

2) Who else will he join?
Refer to my reply on your first question.

City most likely made a healthy offer for Bertrand. Bertand is still at Soton. 1+1=?

21 Jun 2017 20:15:35
I know, it's 2.

{Ed025's Note - your guessing ron.. :)

21 Jun 2017 20:47:03
Max, want away player has got sfa to do with money, and everything to do with player attitude. Very few players, when they've expressed a preference to move to another club, can be relied upon to play every game with their heart in it. Suarez was the exception. So why would a team want a player who doesn't want to be there? What is the point.

On the point about what other team, the player has said he wants to play for Liverpool. And in case you have forgotten, the player needs to agree to a transfer too. He's not merely goods and chattel owned by a club who decides where to sell him.

So clearly, 1+1 = 7 in your world!

21 Jun 2017 20:53:11
Max there are times when 1+1 makes 3, come August VVD will not be a Southampton player, I am sure of this, you just see one side of the coin, there is a bigger picture .

21 Jun 2017 22:20:10
"Max there are times when 1+1 makes 3"

Back to "pregnancy season" again?

22 Jun 2017 00:11:29
If VVD hands in a transfers request or states he wants to leave then it's best for both party's that we come to a deal that's suits saints and us. I'm not saying we should be held to randsom but it's our fault that this situation has come about so we should sort it and move on.

21 Jun 2017 18:08:38
LATEST: Navy Keita will now also be joined by Indigo Martinez (Real Sociedad) to add more artistry to the team.

Talks are being handled by wonderdog sparky.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

21 Jun 2017 18:40:40
Couldnt do any worse!

21 Jun 2017 19:45:00
Would not be happy with that business at all, the thought of it makes me feel blue.

Any chances of a title gone. Say Cyan-ara to the Champions League too.

Surely Keita would want to play every game to, and we have a loaded midfield. Klopp promised games to Grujic last season, can he make more Azure-ances about time?

Personally I think we would be better off going for Marko Marine.

21 Jun 2017 09:59:19
Have a question for ed002. I was very impressed by Koulibaly of Napoli especially his speed and recovery, also very good in the air and I think, as VVD for now is dead we should atleast try. Has there been any aproach for the player apart from chelsea? napoli are hard to negotiate but would like him at our club. thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2017 18:04:36
This appears to be on two pages. Both rumours and banter.

21 Jun 2017 18:16:48
Because the banter bit is the VVD deal is not dead.

21 Jun 2017 14:37:10
Lewandowski seemingly unsettled at bayern and straight away utd and Chelsea jump all over it.

Is there any interest from us in him Eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - No.}

21 Jun 2017 20:54:54
Its a bit like the Ronaldo story, that's what it is, a story .

21 Jun 2017 21:09:46
Lewa won't be going anywhere any soon. The "storys" about him wanting to leave came from his statement that he didn't felt supported enough in the last game because he wanted the "Torjägerkanone" as it is called in Germany.

All reports are bs and Bayern made it clear that every talk held with Lewa will get reported to Fifa because they don't want no one to talk to him about transfers.

21 Jun 2017 17:15:58
Afternoon all, Eds I was just wondering what John Aldridge has to gain by saying VVD should go on strike at southampton? after the embarrasment of the tapping uo being leaked i should imagine he would be best keepng his mouth shut on the situation.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - it is his opinion.}

21 Jun 2017 17:34:17
I understand that Ed but let's say if VVD handed in a transfer request in the next few days could Southampton go even further in asking for a investigation on the club? Just like the last person who leaked klopps involvement in the tapping up, could they not see it as Aldridge new a bout a strike from VVD if it where to happen?

{Ed001's Note - no idea.}

21 Jun 2017 18:02:46
Ok thanks anyway Ed.

21 Jun 2017 18:18:03
Ex barc players do it all the tine.

21 Jun 2017 18:33:34
Aldridge is no longer associated with LFC in an official capacity.

21 Jun 2017 19:13:56
Kind of a loud mouth.

21 Jun 2017 16:38:54
Hi Eds,

A question about players who are devoted to Islam, especially in light of Mo Salah joining us too.

I think our first Muslim player was Titi Camara from memory, and we've had a few down the years, most recently Kolo Toure and in our current team Emre Can, Sadio Mane and now Mo Salah.

What is the impact of Ramadan on the performance of Muslim players? Given how scientific our game has now become, is there actually a drop off in performance, however marginal, in performance during that month?

I know that in the next couple of years, Ramadan overlaps with the end of the season, so I felt this was an interesting question given our increasing contingent.

I'm not so 'worried' about not eating, but not being able to take liquids during the day, particularly in May/ June as the temperature rises, must have an effect on performance?

How have Liverpool's Muslim players coped in the past?

Thought this would be a nice diversion from the usual transfer merry-go-round!

Thanks

Z.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - it is impossible to give an answer as they are individuals. For starters, some are given dispensation to eat and drink during the day.}

21 Jun 2017 17:17:26
As a muslim, I've also thought about it. Because fasting in the summer is very difficult. And once you add playing and training it becomes all the more difficult. But as ed001 has said it actually depends on an individual, just like in cricket Hashim Amla scored a think a triple century while fasting. May be some of the athletes don't fast during Ramadan because it becomes almost impossible for them ( I may be wrong) .

21 Jun 2017 17:42:22
I played professional rugby in France for more than a few years. We had a few Muslim players in my teams and as the ed 01 suggested they were given "dispensation". The more devout then added on days at the end of Ramadan to make up for the days that they ate and drank during that period, specifically for match days only. The coaches were sympathetic to the players during the week for training.

21 Jun 2017 17:56:01
Dispensation makes sense. Sensible appraoch.

21 Jun 2017 21:13:44
I played in the youth bundesliga and we had a few muslim players. It all depended on how strict their parents were. Some had this dispensation as stated and others went through with it.

I remember beeing on our Summer-Training thing where we had practice all day and two or three guys didn't drink at all.

21 Jun 2017 16:04:34
Sakho + £45m for VVD and Bertrand?

If only this was FM!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

21 Jun 2017 15:58:03
Bit of a leftfield thought, but I could envisage Origi leaving this transfer window. Looking at our striking options:

Firmino is our first choice currently and is a great player, but not the best finisher. A Klopp favourite and his flexibility to play in a number of forward roles means he's going nowhere.

Sturridge is our best finisher when fit. I worry that he's lost some confidence in his body, but that can still return. I doubt we would sell him as he is our best finisher and we'd likely have to take a low sum as a result of his injuries.

Ings, so unlucky. However, he strikes me as a Klopp player, willing to give everything, so I reckon he will get another season to prove himself and prove he is over his injuries.

Solanke, new kid on the block, just recruited, going nowhere for a couple of seasons whilst he develops.

Origi, still very young (21?) and has had quite a few chances this season. there's something about him that says he could be very good, but not exceptional.

My gut feel is Origi will leave.

If we sign someone as a first team striker (Auba probably not, Lacazette? ) then Studge may well leave too.

Interesting to see what happens.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

21 Jun 2017 15:42:09
Hi Ed001,

Given Gerrards statement on ability alone won't get you in Liverpools first team; was Gerrard someone committed to training?

Its widely regarded Frank Lampard put effort into his game I wanted to know if Gerrards practicised what he is preaching.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes. At youth level he was very committed.}

21 Jun 2017 16:17:06
Thanks Ed001.

21 Jun 2017 14:59:53
SSN are reporting that Utd and Chelsea have held talks with Lewandowski's representatives. No mention of permission from Bayern. How different is this to VVD saga? IMO clubs should shut the door to SSN during the close season.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

21 Jun 2017 15:38:56
Er it would be different because Mourinho and Conte didn't talk to Lewandowski directly.

21 Jun 2017 15:43:44
Bayern have just released a statement saying he is not moving and not asked to move. Saying anyone found to be negotiating risk a fifa penalty.

21 Jun 2017 14:47:49
Navy Keita to join Arsenal! The gunners want to add more firepower to their team and see Navy Keita as their new midfield anchor. Rumours that he's about to jump ship are awash all over the internet now.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

21 Jun 2017 15:32:07
I don't believe this, if indeed you are talking about Naby Keita.

He was looking to jump ship when UCL was not sure for RBL, so why would he now jump ship from a club where UCL is now assured, to a club in the Europa League? He also turned down Arsenal last season before joining RBL.

Smells a bit fishy to me.

21 Jun 2017 15:40:07
This is what happens when you trawl the press for pearls of wisdom.

21 Jun 2017 18:00:58
Wow my humour is not appreciated here at all! Far too high brow for you chumps! 😉

Try reading it again Zed, there's a few clever puns in there for you lad, after I saw a poster earlier on post about a "Navy Keita" joining Liverpool.

21 Jun 2017 13:29:17
Eds, Any news on when Firminio is in court for his drink driving offence. I have never known a case of drink driving taking so long to go to court. Best get it over with before the season starts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no sorry.}

21 Jun 2017 14:02:58
Sure it's done and dusted.

21 Jun 2017 14:25:23
I thought it was only moved a few days.

21 Jun 2017 14:44:44
Its all sorted. Klopp texted the judge and had a jolly at Bleakpool.

Ende gut, alles gut.

21 Jun 2017 16:16:37
Firminio was given a fine and a ban from driving.

21 Jun 2017 13:20:42
Dani Alves for a few years would be a brilliant signing. Still a good player and would be terrific for TAA to learn from without his path to 1st team being blocked. I know no interest and won't happen but would be sweet after we missed out on him from sevilla!

Believable7 Unbelievable4

21 Jun 2017 13:51:00
Alves is winger who was never good enough to play on the wing. Just watch him in the Champions League final, he was often Juve's furthest player forward. He would be annihilated playing in the PL.

I'm not saying he isn't good at what he does but his pace is gone, he has never in his life actually had to do any defending and would want £200k a week.

I would rather play Milner at RB.

21 Jun 2017 14:07:31
He is signing for City!

21 Jun 2017 14:21:16
To say a player who just had his most effective season in a while, culminating in a champions league final appearance with one of the top teams in Europe, would get annihilated in the Prem is ridiculous. Klopp gets our fullbacks to play as wingers anyway so don't see the problem there either. Him in rotation with our brightest prospect TAA would be perfect.

21 Jun 2017 14:27:08
Agree with RedDawn. Playing with 3 world class centre backs makes him a force to be reckoned with. Anything less makes him a spectacular weak link that can and will be exploited.

21 Jun 2017 15:13:42
Playing 3 at the back leaves a gaping hole behind the wing backs, if anything makes the wingback have to act as both winger and right back.

21 Jun 2017 15:59:32
Never liked the bloke. Can be a very good player, but cheats, dives, whinges and cries to the ref incessantly. I would find it hard to like him even if he plays for my team.

21 Jun 2017 16:00:10
Dani Alves, as a footballer, is vastly underrated. And i say that knowing how highly many rate him. He's had a fantastic career and would walk straight into our first team. delusional if you think otherwise. Milner ahead of him? Please.

21 Jun 2017 13:09:33
Hi Eds,

Any news on Mahrez at all? I appreciate he won't be coming to us but he's a player I'm interested in and have no idea who else to ask.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - we do have a Leicester site mate.}

21 Jun 2017 12:23:31
Hi eds and posters,

Just a question for any ed really. Is hendos long standing heel problem one which is likely to be resolved? Is it the type of permanent injury which needs to be 'managed' rather than fixed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - hard to be sure, it is possible it can be fixed, but, I am told, that only happens for some people. Some people just have to learn to manage it.}

21 Jun 2017 12:00:56
Hi Eds,

When are the players due back at Melwood after their hols?

Just thinking that questions about Can signing a new deal or indeed Lucas, probably won't be finally answered until the players return? Although their agenst will be negotiating with the club whilst they are away, of course.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it depends, but the bulk are back first week of July I think, off the top of my head.}

21 Jun 2017 13:26:37
We are back first week of July internationals tournament players pending of course.

21 Jun 2017 11:44:14
Does anyone know how Allan got on at Hertha last season?

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Jun 2017 12:11:05
Klopp seems to really rate him but he can't get a visa to come to the UK I think.

21 Jun 2017 12:19:09
Thanks, James. But does anyone know how well he played at Hertha . ?

21 Jun 2017 13:12:39
He had 15 apps for a total of 791 min. He was never really someone for the Starting 11.

Also Hertha said: "We would try to keep him here but there has to be the sporting need for him" (Im not sure, if i translated that correct) Also he went to the U20 Southamerican Cup or whatever it is called although Hertha adviced him not to.

So to summ it up: He has shown potential but it wasnt enough to be a starter.

Reading a lot of people saying we only need 3 players but I think we need up to 6 we have far more games this year and we also struggled when we had injuries last year I remember a few games last season when the bench was nearly all youth players.

I'm going to say we need 5.

:)

Anyone else care to vote?

21 Jun 2017 12:33:06
Winger, LB, CB, Cm + Solanke = 5

Poss miss out on CB or CM.

21 Jun 2017 12:37:36
Solanke, Salah, LB and CB for me. so 4.

21 Jun 2017 12:54:46
Right back? Surely. Not our biggest weakness but it's up there.

21 Jun 2017 13:18:38
Salah, Solanke, CB, LB, solid CM and a Goal machine as a striker.

Every Top Club has a quality striker except us.
Sturridge is strong when fully fit but in the last 3 years or so he has never really been fully fit (Since 14/ 15 he has been out a total of 414 days), Origi isn't ready yet, Firminho actually is a attacking midfielder, Ings has been out since god knows and Solanke still has to learn.

21 Jun 2017 14:24:57
I would say between 4-6 players are required, just depends on the calibre of player we are targeting.

21 Jun 2017 15:14:44
We've got the winger now (? ) and a young striker, so LB, RB and CB should be our next priority! Not convinced a midfielder is needed, unless Can does go and we need a replacement! Anything else could be classed as a luxury or just replacing outgoing/ loaned out players!

21 Jun 2017 19:26:19
We Salah, Solanke, 1st team LB, a terrier of a DM, an imposing CB who has the size and height with quick recovery, and a 20 goal striker.

21 Jun 2017 09:53:39
I think most agree that left back is the main area we should improve, but I can't remember in my life time us having a complete player in that position, most I remember we're good going forward but rubbish defending, even going back as far as Alan Kennedy? Only one that sticks out was Steve Nicol, but he could play anywhere. Another point, when we were linked with Bertrand last time out he was slated as not being good enough, has he improved that much?

Bertrand was always good enough but many said he didn't fit the bill for Liverpool, as in he looked good defensively but lacked going forward.

He has improved his attacking game and is still strong defensively.

The only issue for me is that Southampton play a very different style meaning that their full backs are protected a lot more than ours.

As we have seen with Clyne, when exposed he is not good (also going forward he is not good but that's a different story), Bertrand may well have a similar issue in that when he is exposed a bit more he doesn't perform as well. That being said I think he would be a big improvement on Milner and Moreno.

However, for me the best LB for us would be Jonas Hector. Very solid defensively, big and quite quick and good on the ball.

He's not going to excel going forward but do we really need excellent attacking full backs with the fire power we have up front?

21 Jun 2017 10:32:43
In short yes, we are very much set up to score more opposed to 1-0 wins we will concede it's a given in how we play. Most teams only score against us on the counter we need attacking players as more wing backs that can cross and provide width in our attacks that we lack, even with salah added all of our attackers like to bring the ball inside so we end up predictable. We lost a lot of plays by milly cutting inside or clyne giving up he ball away. When teams let us have 70-80% possession we need to make the most of it, I also feel this is why vid would of been a perfect fit for cb.

21 Jun 2017 10:33:36
I don't get all the stick Milly and Clyne get. Good players. I think Clyne is much better defensively then he is going forward, and he's not the worst going forward, not the best either 😂 but can do a good job.

Hopefully TAA can step in at RB in a season or two anyway.

Not seen much of Mendy but the way everyone goes on he must be the dogs bollox, but I wouldn't be unhappy if we had Milly there next season.

Centre back should be the priority in my opinion, thoughts of Klavan, Lucas and Gomez as back up for the season brings me to tears.

At least Salah looks like it's finally happening, credit where credit is due, the club potentially pulling off a great transfer and not being held to random over a price, bodes well!

21 Jun 2017 10:56:49
Outscore is once again our motto next season. No surprise. Forget the balance we will score in abundance! Klopp anyhow is poor organizing the defense!

21 Jun 2017 11:09:37
I thought Riise was pretty well rounded as a left back. Certainly he'd walk into the current team.

21 Jun 2017 11:10:48
Rob Jones didn't do a bad job when he played there.

21 Jun 2017 11:29:21
Riise and Aurielo were decent left backs for us to be fair. Really need to sort this position out this summer no doubt.

21 Jun 2017 11:37:16
I always thought that Aurelio was a decent left back and if injuries hadn't prevented him getting a long run in the team he would've been much more highly rated.

21 Jun 2017 12:00:10
Aurelio was a decent lb whenever fit, risse was great going forward but was so severely single footed that i have only seen him using his right leg just for standing, moreover Rafa set uo the team in such a way that FB got a lot of protection through the DM. Kloops team s set totally different, in case of Clyne he will get into a good position atleast 20 times a game but will either loose the ball or cross it with his eyes closed. He is not that defender who will put the ball in a dangerous position. The best RB o have seen in the last few years is sergio aurier.

21 Jun 2017 12:36:28
Have we all forgot about Steve Finnan the quiet man?

21 Jun 2017 12:40:12
Everyone forgetting the great Stig?

21 Jun 2017 13:37:54
Wasnt Finnan a right-back?

21 Jun 2017 08:49:45
Hi Eds, judging by all the rumours we seem dangerously close to signing Salah. Can you please confirm that we have a series of things lined up ready to cock up this transfer as is tradition?

Tough crowd Angry. Irony and sarcasm doesn't do well on this forum!

21 Jun 2017 07:32:32
With the imminent arrival of Salah, a lot of people asking who misses out with a lot of different opinions.

Have to say I can't remember the last time we had so many good options. Can, wiji, lallana, hendo, couts (possibly grujic? ) all battling for 3 places can only be a good thing. There'll be no resting on laurels next season.

If we can sort lb and either rb or cb, we're looking strong for next year.

Let this be studge last year to prove he can be relied upon (I live in hope) . If he has a lot of time on the treatment table then next summer could be the time for that 20+ goals striker and either the rb or cb we don't sign this year.

Onwards and upwards redmen!

21 Jun 2017 11:31:04
It really is a tough one with old Danny Studge. If we let him go he'd typically stay fit all season and score 20+ goals lol.

{Ed025's Note - studge will never be fit for long L4L, his body may improve but his head never will do mate..

21 Jun 2017 12:30:39
Studge won't play if he's got a niggle where other players with but if he stays and we get into the champions league group stage. It will be interesting to see if he will play through a niggle then.

21 Jun 2017 12:55:54
Sturridge gets stick when he's not 100% because he's playing through pain, and then stick when he doesn't play cause he's in pain. Poor lad can't win.

21 Jun 2017 05:13:27
I know we've only signed salah so far. But I can really see us kicking on next season, klopp has added belief to our team which we've not had In a long time.
We had a Suarez under Rodgers but he was the main man, carried the whole team. It's different this time we don't have one man we rely on, and the squad was thin last season so we struggled at times.
With klopp now added players to fill the gaps of last season (I trust him to add the right players) I can see a better title challenge, we may not win it but I don't think we will be so far off the pace.
If we can add 2 first teamers preferably in defence. And perhaps another attacking player to strengthen our options we should be just fine.

Just to let you know, We have only signed solanke, salah isn't a liverpool player yet!

21 Jun 2017 08:45:53

21 Jun 2017 13:31:24
