If you can muster the energy to press the 'v' key, why don't you move your finger a tad higher and hit the 'f'. That way people won't assume you're illiterate {Ed022's Note - I don't usually post things like this as they add nothing to the thread, but I do have to agree with you on this one.}

Little boxes, little boxes
And they're all made out of tikki takka
Little boxes and they all look the same.
There are purple ones and red ones, and they're all made out of tikki takka.
Little boxes, and they all look the same.

Haha might wanna copy and paste the lyrics next time

My impressions of the players today (for what it's worth):

Eccelestone: Wasn't very good tonight, I'm afraid.
Pacheco: Looked really sharp, but end product was lacking.
Ibe: Wasn't really able to get around his man on the wing, but at only 16 he certainly didn't stick out like a sore thumb either... I'm impressed.
Spearing: Honestly thought he played quite well. He moved the ball around with pace and accuracy and ran more than most. Generally speaking, I'm not a huge fan, but today thought he was one of the better players in the first half.
Aquilani: Ineffective at best.
Enrique: Very poor I thought. Several wayward passes and a poor first touch.
Adam: Up there with Aquilani for ineffectiveness. What happened to his ability to kick a ball on a set play?
Robinson: Seems to love to get forward, although that left gaps in the back sometimes.
Sterling: Was overall probably the most attack-minded player on the pitch. Tended to get stuck with 3 men on him in a corner, but overall was very threatening.
Suso: Very decent showing and a couple nice shots on goal. Tended to go missing a bit on defense I thought.
Shelvey: Good work rate and nothing hugely negative really to say. A bit overly enthusiastic on some passing forward.
Flannagan: I generally like Flanno, but I'm not sure pass and move/tiki taka/whatever is his thing, unfortunately.
Lucas: Was great to see him on the pitch again, but I'm afraid it looks like it'll be awhile until he's fully fit.
Cole: Oscillated between poor and fantastic. Not real sure what to make of him, honestly. Apparently can play on the left though!
Adjoran: I guess he played, but honestly having a hard time thinking of anything good or bad to say?
Morgan: Well, he got the goal (in theory, think he may have just snaked it from Raheem though). He moves well in the box, but when the ball isn't in the box didn't do much.

Left out some that really didn't stand out either way to me or I just forgot. Overall impression: Generally I thought the younger players were much more impressive than the more senior ones, which sort of surprised me. I expected the likes of Aquilani/Cole/Adam/etc. to be able to boss around a pretty poor Toronto FC side, but they really didn't at all.

My views anyway. Am interested in what others thought?

In the main I agree , all those out there calling for Cole and aquilina to get another chance should now understand they aren't good enough

Adam hasn't taken a good corner since we signed him.

- Something Red -

I agree with most of this but I feel you are being harsh on Adam as I thought his passing was impressive as he was pinging the ball around the pitch and put some good through balls over the top. Although his set pieces were poor. I was also quite surprised to see aquaman actually getting stuck into some tackles.

Thought Aquilani was great...

I liked what I saw from Aquilani today. I fully believe that he does indeed have the ability to be a regular starter for Liverpool and this is from seeing him over a few years. He demonstrated it a bit today what he can do in the center behind the front 3. He moves the ball very quickly and accuratly in the final 1/3. What I believe that you may have thought was ineffective was when he played in a manner that BR told them to play. This would indeed make it seem like he was ineffective but it was just new to him and it is pretty much a new team for him anyway. If he can settle at Liverpool I think he will do a great job next season given the opportunity.

I also very much liked Shelvey's composure and strength he will grow to be one of our main midfielders in the future. Sterling and Pacheco also seemed well suited for this style of play they just lacked the timing and accuracy to make that final killer pass.

Joe Cole looked bad, I mean bad it is just the first friendly but he did not even look like he was even trying much less trying to win anyone over. I am very disappointed in his level of commitment. Mistakes can be forgiven lack of effort is a different story all together.

Coley SHA

That is the problem with adam. He simply does not fit into BR's style of play, we need to sell him now.
Indian Buzzer {Ed022's Note - I wouldn't say that, I'd say he just isn't a very good player, regardless of the supposed system. Big fish, little pond comes to mind.}

Don't understand the big fish/small pond analogy at all. When he stood out for Blackpool, he was playing against all the same teams that are in the big pond now (including ourselves - didn't he score the winner against us at Anfield?) Besides, his party piece was the dead ball and that should be pretty much the same no matter what size of pond you're swimming in! The guy, like 4 or 5 others last year, is in the middle of a big confidence crisis. So slagging him on here is not that likely to help much!

Enjoyed the game against Toronto everybody did ok, passing was good, thought Suso,Robinson, Pacheco and Sterling stood out, as all having a touch class, out of the young lads. Great to see Lucas back and thought Joe Cole looked fitter and brighter which can only be a good thing, whether he goes or stays.
If he's keen to prove a point and super fit? hope he stays.

That was good fun watching Liverpool tonight. Some decent football was played. Sterling was brilliant. Eccleston was bright (lack of composure). Adam pulled the strings in the first half. Sloppy goal to give away. Brilliant work by MOM Sterling to create (or have stolen lol) the equaliser. Some positives for sure. But just nice to get the first game out of the way and now TIKI TAKA is officially underway!!

Thanks

Tonights match- Was that an ol' joke or was that just joe'cole? Charlie adam must pack his bags... Seriously how can u be so stubborn and keep pumping the long balls over aquilani's head and keeping him out the game. Aquilani, spearing and enrique were the top 3 on the pitch in the first half. Wtf with shelvey and the long balls?I guess rodgers gotta reprogram them and fine them for every long ball played this preseason. Nice to see lucas again. Suso gotta make the 1st team squad he's good enough. Would love to see aquilani and suso combo in the next game... Aquilani currently offers exactly what Allen would and would save us 18 mil which we could spend on another inside forward cum striker... Seriously can't see Rodgers letting aquilani go. The guy got a magic touch and has so much damn time on the ball... The essence of a class player. Time for us to bury the contempt for aquilani and see him for the clas player he is. He's head and shoulders above spearing, shelvey, adam and henderson.
YnWA...

I actually wasn't bowled over by Aquilani today. He was okay and he shows nice touches with the ball, but he rarely does anything especially constructive with it.

Main problem was lack of numbers in the box. In actual matches, we'll need a runner from midfield, probably Gerrard. Or for the player on the opposite flank to where the ball is to come into the box more. Pacheco got down the left a few times only to discover that he had Ecclestone and Ecclestone only to aim at most of the time. Aqua tried to get in to help a couple of times, but it's not really what he's best at. Adam didn't get in there and Ibe was touchline hugging.

- Something Red -

Just cause we are playing tiki taka doesn't mean it isn't a good idea to spread it out wide to space. Look what Alonso does for Spain.

Suso reminds me so much of Iniesta the way the ball seems to stick to his feet.
The way he can get the ball out of oncoming challenges its like he is seeing everything in slow motion and he has a fantastic shot

21 Jul 2012 23:11:19
Made up for Adam Morgan, and I know Ed001 is a fan of his, so I suppose he is too.

Shame about the result, but I though we did well overall! YNWA

Great to see Lucas back ! ant

21 Jul 2012 23:07:18
I think Sterling might have just talked Rodgers out of sending him on loan.
Red Steve

He can not send him on loan he,s not 18 yet

21 Jul 2012 23:07:08
I know it was only a friendly tonight's game but you can already see an improvement in possession and hunger to get the ball back compared to last season. To say that's the second string out there BR style of play was evident throughout the match...

Good to see Lucas back too...

21 Jul 2012 23:06:28
just watched the pre season friendly and suso looked sharp. Do you think he will be given regular first team football?

21 Jul 2012 23:06:11
If I were watching a Liverpool game for the 1st time tonight I'd have trouble deciding who some of the senior players are. Pacheco did very well and Sterling just looked plain classy. I love that boy in a totally non-homo way lol. Suso also did very well and a 1-1 draw really ain't that bad coz all those kids looked class today. However they have totally shown up Joe Cole and Aquilani who were both terrible, especially the former I don't know what the hell he was doing on the pitch and he wasted some good opportunities with some awful crossing. Pacheco,Sterling,Morgan,Sama,Wisdom,Suso all had great games well done boys!
Capetownred

Last season we had a huge confidence problem - Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Shelvey, Adam, Johnson, Spearing, Enrique all looked petrified most of the time. Brendan needs to make it clear that he is willing to play Morgan, Sterling, Pacheco, Suso, Coady, Robinson and Flanagan to make sure that they don't end up the same. The competition for these places can only be a good thing too. Don't buy Brendan, coach and motivate the people we've got - especially when prices are so over-inflated at present. The future's bright....

21 Jul 2012 23:04:29
To be fair to Spearing i think he was brilliant in that 1st 45mins, kept it simple, passing was good and made himself aviliable, Ibe needs to pass more for me but it'll come.

Luke

Spearing was a lot better than his more illustrious team-mates, Adam and Aquilani. That much is certain.

21 Jul 2012 23:03:23
Just watched the Toronto match - not too bad tbh. All you doom-mongers may be eating some humble pie this season. MOTM in the first half is difficult to choose - no-one really stood out for me. Aquilani and Adam both showed they can pass the ball, which we knew, but Spearing showed he could pass it - which no-one knew! But in the second half, Sterling was great. He is defo one to watch. Overall, it's a pre-season friendly, but more positives than negatives.

21 Jul 2012 23:01:43
All in all, not too bad. Great to see some of the young players excelling. Magnificent to see Lucas too.

First half was played in Rodgers style with defenders splitting, holding possession and always two options for a player. Second half was a bit more loose which will probably annoy the boss. There didn't seem to be as much of the possessional play, with Gulacsi playing the ball long instead of looking for a short pass everytime.

A good looking work in progress. Once we get early pressing into our game we'll be even further on the right road.

-Shane.

21 Jul 2012 22:59:59
A bit of boos for Joe Coles deliveries but he's passing ok and trying at least
Suso takes final corner from Lucas run
And works the keeper
1-1 end result
Bin aqua, only play Adam with a runner and finisher up front if at all
Dorijan is s***e gulcasi not great
Otherwise great base for the lfc team {Ed001's Note - if you mean Adorjan, then he is a good prospect, don't judge him on one performance out of position.}

All last season our crossing was pants - lost count of the number that didn't get past the first defender. And that went for free kicks and corners too! Hopefully Tika Taka means we wont need crosses or we'll at least start to practice them a bit....?

21 Jul 2012 22:59:36
enjoyable second half, good to see lucas back

Good performances tonight from Pacheco,Suso,Morgan,Shelvey and Sterling.the future looks great.

Don't think shelvey got the tika taka memo!

The cherry picker

21 Jul 2012 22:54:30
Not being funny but Suso, Sterling and Shelvey are looking the real deal. While Joe Cole seems to have to take 4 touches before he can even think about getting his head up! The future looks bright (for liverpool...not so much joe cole)

21 Jul 2012 22:54:08

21 Jul 2012 22:40:11
Lucas looks good playing now,
Adorjan less so.

21 jul 2012 22:36:53
raheem sterling just set up a goal fir morgan it was f###ing amazing liverpool future is soon 4 sterling

I just knew someone would post this, that was the only thing he has done tonight, he may well have a bright future, but looked a little out of his depth, lost the ball everytime they doubled up on him

Shelvey, suso, sterling and Pacheco stood out throughout the match. Suso looks ready for first team football (meaning gets playing time during the season not as a starter of course). Sterling is still very young and although he has great skill and pace still gives the ball the way when he can pass it (meaning head keen to impress) and shelvey had great distribution and leadership skills seem to be growing on him. As for j.cole let's hope as his confidence increases ditto for his football because he was wasteful. Overall I'd say the philosophy is coming along well (considering the first team players would find it easier to adap to that style of play) but of course only been 1 match. Eager to watch borini!

Out of his depth? Every time he had the ball he troubled them, the exact reason why they had to double up on him.

21 Jul 2012 22:35:30
great to seehow delighted morgan was to score

tom1975

21 Jul 2012 22:34:50
Toronto look good
Liverpool pushed up getting to grips with one touch football
Could do with a goal threat for Adams passing
Suso and sterling trying hard to prove a point
Suso entertaining as usual
But need a goal threat
Sterlings desperate to not go on line and hans Morgan a goal better than Pacheco on the left

21 Jul 2012 22:33:31
Tell you what guys, win lose or draw for a reserve team this is quite impressive.

21 Jul 2012 22:33:22
Great possession tonight, still think we need to play it through the center to let forwards to run on to the ball more. A bit like we did for Owen

21 Jul 2012 22:25:32
Watching the Toronto game and in terms of ball retention and pass and move this is the best I've seen from us in two years. wouldn't you know it, as I'm typing they just scored. Christ what a lucky goal.

21 Jul 2012 22:24:09
Anyone who watched the toronto friendly, 1st Half how did the players get on like ibe? and sama? and aqua?

21 Jul 2012 22:21:10
Just watching the friendly against Toronto FC and thought I'd let people know if they haven't been watching how it's been.

The first half was a bit of a dull affair however we did have 75% of possession and 5 attempts. Pacheco looked dangerous all half playing wide on the left. He's been playing very high up the pitch and hugging the touchline although the end product hasn't been there for him. Spearing did a job with some decent passes both long and short and our young defenders Sama and Wisdom looked solid.

Since the 2nd half started we changed the entire side and the main difference now has been Sterling! He has got so much pace and confidence and Toronto FC can't handle him.

Shelvey has had some decent passes and just crunched a guy in the 54th minute!

I realize its a friendly but Toronto FC has had some decent results and should be at peak physical form as their season is in progress. It looks good for us...oh and Aqua has looked so weak. Not playing wise but physically can't seem to handle Canadian Soccer...yikes!

Thanks for the update, well done..

I hope pacheo gets a chance in first team this year he looks to have really matured and looks really decent tonight

21 Jul 2012 22:05:11
Watching the toronto LFC match, happy enough so far, still players there out of their dept, adam, spearing , aqua cant see them being in the first team, youngsters playing well, different 11 for the second half, Suso and Sterling on, shud be intresting!
Jay

21 Jul 2012 22:02:45
Genuine question, what's the difference between Rodgers "tika taka" football philosophy and dalgliesh "pass and move" isnt it exactly the same just called two different names?

Thanks jay

Not disagreeing with your comment but do you honestly believe it was the style of football he played that got dalglish the sack?

Mate possession is useless without penetration barcelona or spain they thrive on penetration which makes difficult for opposition in king we missed to penetrat teams so opposition were comfortable letting us have possession just hope it helps little bit mate

21 Jul 2012 21:58:30
Love they way we are trying to play the game, almost 75% of the ball with this young team. I think Carra and Spearing will survive, they did quite well. Ibe looks promising but I dont see any future for Eccelstone, not good enough. Let the 2nd half begin!

Jack D.

21 Jul 2012 21:53:33
pachecho looking to impress out there

21 Jul 2012 21:50:35
So it's only preseason but Adam looks like a complete donkey. Pacheco has been by far the best looking red

Adam wasn't too bad but aquilani didn't even look like he wanted to play. Youth played fairly well. Overall a decent match for liverpool with probably only 10% of first team actually there

21 Jul 2012 21:48:58
Why do people want to come on the site and have a go at the EDs for? The reason I come on for is their insight into transfer dealings, yet I see comments like earlier where we have ppl atacking ED002 about the information they give us! I'm sure the club have their targets and an idea who they will move on this summer if the EDs have an idea and let us know when they can, don't moan at them its clearly what the manager and club feel is best!support them and let's see how the season goes!

Adams working hard needs a runner and finisher
Enriques working hard
Pacheco on the left looks ok as does ibe on the right
Aquilanis body language says he doesn't want to be there and will lazily just lay it off till the end - could be wrong but maybe this aint any shop window many would look in
Playing a bit like last season- LOL only joking

Adam, adam, adam, its bloody adam

Liverpool will tie up a deal tonight with (insert name of best Toronto player here) ;)

But spurs will hijack it at the last minute by adding a couple million to the price agreed with LFC and offer slightly better wages.

21 Jul 2012 21:39:12
Question for the Eds or anyone that knows.

What do you mean when you say Aquilani is too lightweight for the Premier League?

He's bigger than David Silva, Modric and definitely Spearing! haha

Thanks in advance

Red Raw {Ed001's Note - he gets pushed off the ball easier than them, they will fight to keep possession, while Aquilani tends to just avoid the physical side of the game.}

That answers that then, cheers Ed

Red Raw

In regards to David Silva they have an evasiveness in which they are able to slip out of tackles with the ball tht does not require them to be big.
Aquilani lacks this and although he is bigger than them hes not very strong

Hes lazy and doesnt like to get stuck in look at modric hes so aggresive and hard working that size doesnt matter. I think its mainly that aqua is used to italian football though which is less physical and more finesse.

chinaman

So what's worse, Adam who if he loses the ball doesn't bother tracking back and getting the ball back or someone who gets pushed of the ball easy but makes the effort to win the ball back. This is based on what I've seen of him at Milan. Although tonight he doesn't look as lively as he did for Milan, so I'm guessing aqualani won't be staying.

Rodgers statement on the official website saying that he will consider sending raheem sterling out on loan.

I thought for one, that he couldn't be loaned out until jan after he'd turned 18?

Secondly, I can't decide whether this would be a good or bad move, I think it will get him some experience, yet on the other hand, he 's our best winger in my eyes. He reminds me of Aaron Lennon, he puts fear in defenders when he has the ball because they know he will run at them with pace, I just hope he develops a much better end product the Lennon, although after seeing him in the reserves, I'd say his end product is already better than lennons.

What's everybody else's thoughts?

Andy

I cannot Belive it's 20 minutes into the friendly and carras not hooooooofed it once, brilliant

Firstly, I would like to apologize for slating BR as I was not happy with his choice as manager, and was devout KD fan. Then I got angry at not moving quickly in the transfer market, and then with AC saga.

However, I am watching the youth play Toronto. I understand Toronto are not the biggest rivals, but watching the youth play gives me confidence for the future. And now FSG plan makes sense to me. Why invest money in stars who will hinder/r***** the gliding of this talent into senior team when you can wait 1-2 years to have a great team that will dominate for some 3-4 years.

Yeah, it sounds similar to the golden generation of Fowler, Maca and Owen but I am sure we must have learnt from that time.

Good times will roll soon. Only hope BR is not sacked as we need to rebuild from scratch like Shankly did.

Well Ed's i'm sorry I don't live up to your high standards for posts, maybe I should leave my name off my posts and they will get posted like some of the to**ers who post sh**e on here, or maybe you think my posts are crap, fair enough.

Sooty {Ed002's Note - Or maybe they went in a post abuse cleansing?}

Appreciate the job the eds do on this site! Mug

Sooty have ya not thought?
you`ve just added ya self, to ya own list of to**ers who post sh**te?
no wonder ed`s are having enough of handling 1000`s of posts like yours.

if it aint posted, its coz its crap, we all know that!

try cheering up a bit, its sat nite n lfc are just bout to ko.
i`m hoping that 2nites game, is the start of something really special for lfc.
now is the time to stop moaning n start supporting!
so what if i`m excited,
come on liverpool !!!
ed`s ya all doing an amzing job.
dbadger..

Shouldn't think so Ed, never swear in my posts and even if I did by mistake, i haven't done it 20 times which is the approx number of posts ive done since my last one was posted.

sooty {Ed001's Note - you just did in that post, why lie? If your posts aren't coming through there is a reason for it.}

Never mind the halfwits eds. We might not always agree, but the way you run this site, particularly with some of the cretins who troll about, is admirable. It's a banter site, so some slabbering is to be expected, welocmed even, but there is a limit and certain folk are so clueless it's kind of sad. Appreciate the eds work ffs
Milamber

I do appreciate the job they do, they do brilliantly, just like to have my say now and again. Very brave calling somebody a mug and not putting your name on it eh.

Games in the US won't feature Reina, Doni, Agger, Johnson, Coates, Kelly, Coady, Henderson, Gerrard, Downing, Bellamy, Carroll or Suarez. Nor Allen, Dempsey or any other new signings. Could leave us a bit vulnerable in early league games, especially with the new system. Reckon we hoof it to Carroll til October..... :D

1) Agger's in the States with the squad, dunno why he isn't playing tonight.

2) The remaining Euro players will join up on the 23rd. Can't imagine they're just doing that for the laugh.

3) The Olympic players are a loss (since they'll miss a couple of games), but they'll get their match fitness there at least.

Agger arrived later than rest of squad due to playing in Euro's and is not yet match fit. BR said he will play some part in next game

He is on tour but not included tonight, is it a case that he is having a longer rest due to the euro's?

from lfc.tv

Brendan Rodgers will play a different team in each half of his first match in charge against Toronto tonight – watch live on LFC TV online now.

The boss has named eleven players for each half, as well as four substitutes, as he looks to give every squad member on the North America tour a run out at the Rogers Centre.

Liverpool: Jones, Enrique, Sama, Carragher, Wisdom, Spearing, Aquilani, Adam, Ibe, Eccleston, Pacheco.

Second-half team: Gulacsi, Flanagan, Skrtel, Wilson, Robinson, Adorjan, Shelvey, Suso, Cole, Sterling, Morgan.

Subs: Lucas, Smith, Ward, McLaughlin.

As much as I like seeing Pacheco play, I'm definitely more interested in the 2nd half team. Suso & Sterling in it, we can rave an exaggerate about them to our heart's content :D.

- Something Red -

Ibe's worth a look too, very similar to sterling but lucky enough to not quite have the same pressure or expectation on him... Yet

Flanagan Carragher Agger Enrique
Shelvey Spearing Aquilani
Cole Eccleston Sterling

Would Honda not be a cheap good option for an attacking mid? Hes a smart hard worker with international experience who's about to hit his peak age don't understand why more clubs aren't interested in him. Does any Ed know if his price tag is still around 8mil?
Thanks

Suzuki would be cheaper and quicker too

We need to replace kuyt's and his engine with nissan

after rodgers glowing endorsement of lucas whats the betting he is shifted to vice captain?/

i said three years ago lucas would be both liverpool and brazil captain and got seriously laughed at..feelig pretty smug about it now

tom1975

How can you feel 'pretty smug' when it hasn't happened and you're just speculating?

I doubt he'll move ahead of both Carra and Reina as VC. At least not this year anyway.

Still though, it's nice to see yet another Liverpool manager rate the lad after all the ridiculously unfair stick he used to get. I'd like to think that people could consider Lucas' development when they think about Henderson, but most probably don't.

- Something Red -

He was the Brazilian U19 captain.

Tom1975, If you said that three years ago then good on ya, I would not have believed it back then I honestly missed his potential at that point and wondered why he was constantly put in the side by Benitez. The only fact that gave me hope back then was that he captained the Brazil youth sides. I really think Lucas learned a lot from Mascherano. Anyway good call I would feel the same way if I were you.

Cheers,
Coley (Sweet Home Alabama, SHA)

Carra as captain are you kidding, he shouldn't even be a first choice CB

I think lucas is amazing to be honest cameto us as an attacking midfield, and hehas totally adapted his game to the holding role which i think he plays better than mascherano. he doesnt have masch s hollywood tackles but his greater football intelligence and positional sense mean he doesnt need to,he is now a very typical brazilian holding midfielder, nips in early to make tackles and sets the attack in motion. ilovelucas

tom1975

Think 2 more seasons with gerrard as captain then it will be lucas far more influential than reina, aman who wants to leave nearly every season

tom1975
every manager we have had has rated lucas and im delighted to see rodgers come out praising him

And my views on henderson when he signed were similar i was not expecting him to hit his full stride until later this season but by the time heis 24 he ll be nailed on as one of our most important players, he s young ,needs togrow his level ofresponsibilty within the side which will come with his seniority with age and maturity. think he s a good signing, also expecting downing to come good latter half of this coming season.

on the other hand i dislike charlie adam, loses possesion in dangerous areas which is okay when lucas was covering his arse but once lucas got injured it made adam look poor

on to joe allen, think he will be a great signing for the long term however think it ll take him some time like henderson to settle.

FSG please sell the club fast. Had enough of yonks talking big and doing nothing. We need a new stadium if they never had the money why did they buy the club. Expect them to sell suarez, carroll, skrtel, and other players.

And who exactly should they sell to? Do you happen to have a convenient billionaire or two tucked away somewhere?

Manchester city council aside, have you even a vague idea what a new stadium costs? How the figures stack up? Is extension better/worse than new build? Thought not. 'Yonks out' is a bit of an ironic statement. When you decide to take over our club, I shall be right behind you.

Nearly all people are saying that our attacking efforts in front of goal cost us a top 4 finish. What I don't get then why we're all throwing the toys out of the pram about replacing some of those very same attacking players?

Mike S

Brilliant point mate. People last season were saying, let's get rid of player x,y and z, because they cannot hit a barn door - then LFC decide to do that, and players x,y and z become heroes for some reason!

Thanks

Eds I truest your support when I say this, all liverpool fans disrespecting BR and FSG please take time to respect their decisions, people saying we are singing average players, do you homework before you comment. Lfc are looking at young players for the future!! So think twice before disagreeing with me, these players we are looking at are players for the future so if you are a relatively young supporter of lfc take time to realise it took time to build a great side and that's what is happening now, so just believe! YNWA

Young players like dempsey hmmmmm

Borini,Allen and Dempsey are all players for the now? We don't need players for the future as we have a great crop of youngsters coming through.

Adding experience with youth is essential, Sick of reading on here that Dempsey is crap, he is a very good footballer! He will add alot of creativity and end product to our side IF he signs

21 Jul 2012 18:37:57
Just a quick one since when did LFC become Real Madrid? Each year Madrid are infatuated with getting there one Galactico and now us as fans are demanding a Marquee signing. Am I missing something or have we ever gone and got a Marquee signing each year? The only player I can think of as a Marquee signing would be Torres but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ps thought I would get marquee in there as much as possible as its all every one is saying at the moment.

Mike S

It depends on your definition of a "Marquee" player, I suppose. Torres, Mascher, Robbie Keane, Jonno etc. were all signed for big money at the time, and were relatively high profile. Suarez too. He pretty much had the same sort of rep when we signed him as Cavani or whoever people going gee-eyed about has now. What we don't do is sign an established 'superstar' at his peak from a top European club. Like van Persie or someone like that. At least not anytime in the last 20 years anyway.

I don't think the squad as is requires a Marquee player to get back in the top 4. If Borini knows where the target is, he'll probably do enough, to be honest.

Now, if we sell Carroll for £15+m and/or Suarez for £30m, I'd expect it to be reinvested in a relatively big name replacement - not sure who. I certainly don't think FSG are going to squirrel it away and not let Rodgers spend it.

- Something Red -

Our Marquee players are already at the club. Gerrard,Suarez,Lucas,Agger and Reina.

21 Jul 2012 18:29:00
Ed,

Do Liverpool make any money at all from the sale of the shirts?

Sorry if it's a broad question

Cheers

Stu. {Ed002's Note - Warrior pay Liverpool circa £25M to let them sell shirts and profit from it. The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

Thanks for clearing that up Ed.

I feel people may be exaggerating the commercial gains of potentially signing Dempsey.

Stu.

21 Jul 2012 18:27:26
man city are short of supporters. maybe we should give them a few of our own 'supporters' who dont now what YNWA means in exchange for adam johnson.

oldmonk

Aint monks supposed to take a vow of silence. You should.

So the same rule applies for all that supporters who stood against H & G when they were crucifying the club. eh

They should have kept their patience and let the cow boys do their job isn't it??

And something on Joe Allen, we should not spend 15M on him he is max worth 8-10M. It seems like BR taking the route Kenny has taken, paying over the limits to get players who are simply not worth it. If we can't get Allen for 8M and Swansea are holding us for ransom , end of it, we can get better players for 15M than Allen.

That Michu signed by Laudrap is much better than Allen and do you know how much he cost them a mare 3M now thats called a bargain buy.

Allen is not a play maker more of a midfield enforcer, thus 15M on cover for Lucas thats BS.

And people should stop talking about EPL experience, one good season in EPL. Downing, Hendo and Carroll had EPL experience but we know what happened with them. Players with no experience of EPL took EPL by storm while our over expensive EPL experienced stars were unable to settle down.

It would be a big JOke if BR splash 15M on Allen provided with the fact we have very little money to spend.

For 15M we might get, better value in Ramirez, De Marcos, Moussa Sissoko or Ander Herrera.

Bosco

I agree allen is not worth 15 million
offer them ten if they dont want to do business as bosco says there are better players out there for 15

tom1975
o

Bosos, how are the better value, when they play in a league that is of a lower standard and are unproven in a tough league like the prem, not every player can adapt, as a fan of football you really should know this

Bosco mate, all i am saying is people should have some patience. h & g is entirely a different case. BR hasn't managed us even in a single match and has made one 1 singing. no need to call for his head.
regarding allen, we cant sign every one in the world. usually we identify our targets, enquire about their availability and try to sign the player. i agree 15m may be a bit too high but we are not currently interested in the other players you have mentioned.
i know our wait from glory has been too long but putting the players and the manager under intense pressure is not going to help us.

oldmonk

Bosco allen is a completely different player to lucas he is more gerrard esque to be honest , likes to play the killer pass and burst forward from deep. if he is signed it will be to play alongside gerrard and lucas not as cover.

Question based on the theme of the day...

Is spending 100 million on players when you got most it of from player sales, counted as investment by the owners or smart selling my the manager. We all heard about clubs who have to sell to buy....

Dublad

How can any one agree or disagree?

Its a question!!

Dublad

Let's see. Prior to this window, the ins are:

Carroll - £35m
Suarez - £22m
Downing - £20m
Henderson £16m
Adam - £8m
Coates - £7m
Enrique - £6.7m
Total: £114.7m

Outs:
Torres - £50m
Meireles - £11m
Babel - £7m
N'Gog - £3.5m
Degen - Released
El Zhar - Released
Konchesky, Poulsen, Kyrgiakos, Insua Jovanovic - Very little each.
£71.5m + whatever we got for the 5 stooges.

Even if we got £10m for them (which we didn't) FSG have still put up £33m just in transfer fees. And we also had the cash to sign Phil Jones instead of Coates if he'd agreed the deal, so that's another £10+m that was made available for transfers.

And we're £11m, less what we got for Kuyt & Maxi (again, peanuts), up so far this year.

This doesn't include the fact that thanks to them, our club's debt is £67m instead of £300+m.

I'd say FSG are investing, personally. So they're not Abramovic or Sheik whatever his name is. We knew they weren't when they came in.

Or would we prefer to revert to Rafa planning his summer on the assumption he can sign Jovetic only to be told that the cost of new contracts has eaten the money he thought he had?

- Something Red -

So 33m in 3 transfer windows. Not a lot really. I'm all for balancing the books and not buying a league. But you must do your best to keep up with the competitors just like in any business or we will fall behind and not be a viable business. The yonks are business men after all.

People moaning about the prospect of Sterling going on loan, oh dear.

He's 17 and if a team gives him the chance to play almost every game then that is the best for him.

Some posters are even saying he done more in his cameos than Downing did all season.
I guess we shouldn't include the carling cup as a trophy then.

Do most fans moan just for the sake of moaning?

KT!

p.s. yes i am moaning too

I couldnt agree more, Sterling is an incredible prospect and 1 i hope will remain with Liverpool for a long, long time. A loan deal would do him the world of good, jus look at Daniel Sturridge, ok, Sturridge isn't the best player in the world but the loan spell at Bolton brought him out his shell and the first team football improved him immensely, still has work to do, but if similar results can happen with Sterling, im all for a loan and only on loan.

21 Jul 2012 18:09:41
I know we have 20m to spend on another 2 or 3 players but i just so wished the owners could dip into their own pockets and put in another 30-40m on 1 world class, 5 star player because the boost that will give us and players alike would be fantastic and increase our chances of top 4 sooo much.
So far they have only spent money that was made from players, so seeing this year is an important turning point for our club i feel they need to get that marquee signing. They say they want to be winners...? Than prove it.

Brendan Rodgers is actively looking to sell Alberto Aquilani,Jay Spearing and Charlie Adam as he looks to reshape Liverpool's central midfield. Joe Allen is looking very likely to join for around £12m while Celtic's Victor Wanyama is also a target, he is valued at around £6.5m. Liverpool have offered Charlie Adam to Fulham hoping to do a player plus cash deal for Clint Dempsey as Liverpool will not meet Fulham's £12m valuation for a player who will be 30 by the end of the season. Liverpool are planning to turn their attention to Arsenal's contract rebel Theo Walcott should a move for Dempsey fail to materialise, Liverpool would have to pay £15m to land Walcott however considering his age, nationality etc. he fits into FSG's moneyball approach and they will sanction a move should Rodgers wish to proceed. Walcott and Dempesy are very very different players not exactly like for like but we shall wait and see what happens.

You were going well untill moeyball. when will they learn Ed?

Just been reading on bbc news app about juve wanting rvp and Suarez , one hell of a strike force IMO , anyway it says that £28m would get Liverpool to the negotiating table . Personally I think he is a better player than Torres and he is just going to get better. So lfc should put there foot down and put a high price on him if a deal is to be done .
I would be gutted to see him go as his work rate is second to non and even after all that has happened he just wants to play football, with barini joining and poss Dempsey I can see the 3 of them scoring for fun and if we could keep Carroll aswell I believe our attack would scare any defence and destroy most .
I still believe our failure in front of goal cost us a top 4 finish last term, those 4 could secure it this time round.

As for tonight's game , I'm not really expecting a great deal, more interested on how we play!

kevc

Get a grip, how the hell is suarez a better player than torres, compare their stats and dont be fooling yourself

PD

Compare their stats? the man was player of the copa america 2011, beating the likes of Messi, Aguero, Hulk, etc. If you want to talk about stats then check up on how many goals torres scored last season. -.-

To be honest I'm not overly excited about Dempsey and haven't seen Borini... From what I've seen of Allen I like, looks an LFC player. My point is, the same indifference was there for players like Houghton, Hyypia, Riise, Hamman, Gary Mc when they signed. Whereas Collymore, Kewell, Ince, Diouf, Diao where nailed on expensive sure things but they failed to deliver. I will not write players off before they join. I say let's give the incumbent players the support they deserve wearing the shirt. I would also add that Rodgers targets whilst not 'star' name are all footballers, play how we like it to be played, Hodgesons buys for example, Konchesky Poulson et al... Were never LFC players. I think the fact that Rodgers targets are young footballers gives them a great chance to develop at Liverpool and consequently for us to improve... And for anyone who is confused we already have a core for Rodgers to work with now.

Completely agree with you other than the fact I thought kewell was on the cheap side :)

But other than that you're spot on. Nothing is a sure thing in football. Fees for players and wages hardly ever match ability. Sami is a great example as you mentioned.
Wages as well, wasn't Nabil El Zhar on like 30k a week !?

Give them a chance :D

why are so many people acting like selling suarez would be the worst thing in the world, 59 apps 21 goals and 11 assists is hardly a great return from a so called world class player who we paid 20mil+ for, if a good offer comes in he should be sold,he just not worth the trouble he causes

Stats don't lie but they don't say it all! How many times did we look like scoring when he wasn't on the pitch?

bearing in mind pepe reina's very poor form over last season or 2, could we sign Alan mcgregor from rangers for free and bring both dempsey and Allen for net £ 5 million. if we sell spearing , Cole, aqualani or Adams we Will have reshape the squad for nothing. very experienced keeper with international experience at club and country level and would have good resale value. Wages to would be reasonable .

Reina on his worst day is still better than McGregor.

For me reina cant be replaced, not because of his form between the sticks but for his distribution, there arent many keepers out there that can do what he can

A keeper is there first and foremost to save shots. reina must have one of the worst ratios for shots on target to goals of any keeper in the league last season . how many did he lose at his near post or did he try and save with his arms down by his side. would rather lose reina than skirtel, agger, carroll. or defo suarez . if we need to sell a top earner to buy reina would be the one for me unless he improves before january.

Really he was that bad, cos i seem to think we actually had one of the best defences in the league

Because of agger and skirtel keeping the shots on target to a minimum. how many games did we dominate last season then we lose a soft goal from nowhere and then we're chasing the game. agger and skirtel, are the rocks we build on. if we get them signed up long term we have coates , Kelly and Wilson coming through. hopefully br can get pepe back to the keeper he was under Rafa!

All links about Dempsey in the "Media watch" section on LFC's official website have been removed. The last time this happened it was with Borini and he signed.

Yannlfc

Well spotted. May get some news on that a bit later then.
Anyone know where Dempsey is at the moment?

I'm actually going to stay well away from the banter page now. The drivel people are posting is seriously depressing! No wonder the club has been in a slow decline, too much pressure placed upon managers/players from so called 'supporters'!

Some of these fans seriously need to take a look at themselves. Do they want to keep on slagging off owners, managers and players so that the club struggles to progress? Or are they going to be realistic, be positive and show unwilling 'support'? We might just get somewhere then...

Signing off..

Stone YNWA.

I agree there's a lot of negativity - but it is a free forum for fans to express their hopes and fears. In the end I'm sure we are all behind the owners/manager/team and by slagging off comments you don't agree with simply has the same negative effect.
solidair

Well said lad, its getting beyond a joke the crap some fans are saying on here. they just need to realize it takes time to to get back to the top. i got s*** for saying that if Matinez signed then give him a chance.
LEP72

Your spot on Stone! Well said!
RedRich

I agree. I am becoming so dispondent. slagging BR, players, repetitive questions...I can go on and on. Back to the transfer page for me for a while, thanks.

I totally agree Stone. I don't come on here as much as I used to as it depresses and embarrasses me most of the time. However it's good to see that there are some realistic and loyal fans around!
KJS

I'll say it again ...it's the 2 or 3 one liners saying the same thing. 'Joke' / 'FSG out' / 'BR smalltime' / 'Mid-table' / We're no longer a big club'...& then not signed. I suspect (& I may be wrong) a number of them are deliberate wind ups. I can accept an opinion in any vein as well as it appears thought through. As things stand we may as well be exchanging punches such are the baseness & provocative stance of these rogue posts.

Just to let you know the fantasy football for the new season is up and running.
someone could set up a league for this website as was done last year which had huge numbers joining.
It will hopefully take some time out of the depressing talk.

Not a rumour or anything, but Brendan Rodgers is considering sending Raheem Sterling on loan this season so he can gain some experience rather than rushing him into the first team; however I thought that he couldn't go on loan till he was 18 which is in December or January?

Whats with the abuse towards the Eds again today?? I give up. :-( This great site is gonna get closed if the crap doesn't stop.

Chelsea to make late bid for RVP ahead of Man Utds 15 mil bid

Typical Whisky Nose - think just because they are Man Utd they can offer low - and expect it to be accepted - Nasri got it right, reject Utd, sign for City and get a PL winners medal.

Love this site, but some so called fans are destoying it, with all the abuse and negative comments. Mainly the abuse, there will come a time when these wonderful ed's call it a day, all because of some moronic poster's, who hide behind a keyboard giving abuse. Sorry ed's for the persons. THanks Si

well well, would you look at that, the liverpool site is back up and running and nothing has changed, some people need t get a grip

21 Jul 2012 15:55:05
ED02 I respect your opinion and would like you to give it on what lies ahead for our club now and the foreseeable future. can BR and FSG save a our club that is in obvious decline? Are L.F.C, fans putting to pressure on the owners and manager with their expectations and demands.

PJ {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but there is a large amount of abuse today and I am about to remove the transfer summary and other posts that are attracting the abusers. It is not worth my while giving any opinion at all.}

That's a shame Ed, I know why your doing it and I would do the same but it's a banter site and I enjoy having a good argument especially when it such and important topic. But I guess there always people who just throw insults ruining it for all of us -McMenemy

Im all for paying a subscription fee ed002 so we can try and put a stop to this ridiculous barrage of abusive posts, its not nice to read, and no doubt not nice to have to try and edit.

Easy pj ,as good as ed002 is No one can c wot lies a head in the sense off ,can BR save the club or win this or that ,lot ov things can play a big part in this not just being a great manager ,a lot ov luck a long the way ,this is no means a dig at Ed 002 but if Ed 002 can fore c these things ,never mind football I'll send in my email so they can slip me this weeks lotto numbers on the low/low and we split it
YNWA. Lfc linc

Why are we in decline? - check the squad without any signings. We dropped 30 points ( yes 30 ) at home last year, City dropped 2, outplayed all of the so called top teams without getting the deserved results, why are people so downbeat, a number of our expensive players had the worst season of their careers, which shouldn't happen again, Stevie G played 18 league games - look at things objectively and we are not in a bad position at all - the way we played ( apart from in front of goal ) we should have at least been 4th.
Smile, be happy, things are not as bad as the doom mongers on here think.

John B

I'd happily pay fee not to have to read the negative bull that is posted on here hourly these days have been regular for years but use it less and less the fun element has been lost.

Listen everybody, stop crying and panicking about Liverpool fc...... We need to be patient coz it will take time to get back to where we want to be.....let's get behind the team, the manager and the owners......we haven't even played a game yet so why all the negativity? We can't buy who we want anymore so accept it......we aren't Chelsea or man city..... Even man utd took time to get to where they are now.....fergie nearly got sacked.... But look where he is now..... What I'm trying to say is.....it takes time to get back to where we want to be and I believe it will happen.....just don't expect it to be this season..... the owners have a plan so chill out n stop expecting a quick fix

Ed your doing a grand job with this site ,

Just a quick question Václav Pilař 23 year old Wolfsburg player stuck out for me in the Euros.
Any chance he could come our way think KD was a fan but with BR in charge who knows ,
The guys quality IMO what do you think {Ed002's Note - There has been no interest known that we are aware of.}

He's only just joined Wolfseburg also

Why did u tell us your going on holiday? Are u rubbing in it lad??

Only slightly, more a case of what state is my beloved liverpool FC going to be in when I get back. ..

21 Jul 2012 15:29:30
Our wonderful club has been ruined over the past 20 years, almost to the point of Administration, by a combination of inept owners, bad managers and shocking, SHOCKING signings, costing this club MILLIONS. Just take a look at this info and tell me what you think.

Terrible signings by Graham Souness - Paul Stewart, Nigel Clough, Julian Dicks, Torben Piechnik, Istvan Kozma, Stig Inge Bjornebye, Scott Patterson.

Terrible signings by Roy Evans -
Phil Babb, Oyvind, Leonhardsen, Sean Dundee, Paul Ince, Karl Heinze Riedle, Mark Kennedy, Jorgen Nielsen, Michael Stensgaard, Haukur Ingi Gudnasson, Sean Friars, Nicky Rizzo, Bjorn Tore Kvarme.

Terrible signings by Gerard Houllier - Bernard Diomede, Salif Diao, Chris Kirkland, Djibril Cisse, El-Hadji Diouf. Nick Barmby, Christian Ziege, Igor Biscan, Harry Kewell, Bruno Cheyrou, Titi Camarra, Rigobert Song, Jean Micheal Ferri, Daniel Sjolund, Abel Xavier, Frode Kippe, Djimi Traore, Dirk Kuyt., Emile Heskey, Stephane Henchoz, Steve Finnan, Anthony Le Tallec, Florent Sinama-Pongolle, Gregory Vignal, Carl Medjani, Alou Diarra, Pegguy Arphexad, Erik Meijer, Patrice Luzi.

Terrible signings by Rafa Benitez -
Albert Riera, Andrea Dossena, Jermaine Pennant, Sebastian Leto, David Ngog, Mark Gonzalez, Mikel San Jose, David Martin, Antonio Barragan, Besian Idrizaj, Jack Hobbs, Alex Cooper, Alexander Kacaniklic, Alexander Kacaniklic, Charles Itandje, Paul Anderson, Danny Guthrie, Chris Buchtmann, Philipp Degen, Hakan Duyan, Lauri Dalla Valle, Peter Gulacsi, Daniel Ayala, Damien Plessis, Vincent Lucas Weijl, Nikola Saric, Emmanuel Mendy, Vitor Flora, Jakub Sokolik, Jamie Stephens, Kristjan Gauti Emilsson, Dave Moli, Antonio Nunez, Mauricio Pellegrino, Nicolaj Beier Kohlert, Boudewijn Zenden, Chris Mavinga, Chris Mavinga, Jan Kromkamp, Ramon Calliste, Ronald Huth,
(I actually got tired cutting and pasting at this point, with still about 20 signings left)

Terrible signings by Roy Hodgson -
Brad Jones, Christian Poulsen, Joe Cole, Paul Konchesky.

Terrible signings by Kenny Dalglish -
Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam.

Now, go and compare OUR signings with the signings of Arsenal, Man United, Blackburn, Leeds, Chelsea etc when they were winning Titles... I'm sorry to say this, but, no wonder we haven't won a league in over 2 decades, the majority of these signings are PATHETIC and over priced inda the bargain. At least FSG are being sensible and THINKING before they spend money. I mean, Jesus, do you blame them...? I have every faith in Brendan Rodgers and FSG to get our club back onto a steady footing over the next several years. THEN we can start thinking about a shot at the title. Big things have small beginnings.

All Good Things Come To Those Who Wait.

Stevie.

Dirk kuyt was a good signing but agree with everything else, good post and well said.

I bet you were one of those who slated Lucas at every opportunity...... Henderson was played out of position last season n he will turn out a good player....... Also houllier didn't sign dirk kuyt so get ur facts right.....but at least we agree on giving the owners n Rodgers our backing n time to prove themselves

As soon as I saw you included kuyt and finnan in there, the rest of your post was void. Not really fair to include rafas kids in there. He is the one responsible for getting our academy back on track.
CQ

Dirk kuyt is a Liverpool legend henchoz was great partner to the great Sami hyypia

If brendan spends 15 mill on Allen you can add his name to that list,...and why bye a 29 and a half year old ,it's not looking good, there's a whole planet out there but he's looking at locals pan out man there's better value to be had,

Kuyt was signed by rafa and was a good signing. Half the players you mention were ok not terrible. Players like riera etc

Hounsred

Pathetic post. Kuyt, riedle, henchoz?! To name but 3! Do your research lad, maybe watch the players play!!
Tommy

Stig Inge Bjornebye, Dirk Kuyt, Stephane Henchoz, Steve Finnan, Lauri Dalla Valle, Danny Guthrie, Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll and several others are or were bad signings? I'd stick to beach volleyball if I were you. Or cricket. RED LENIN

You may have well listed every player ever bought! They have not all been bad..
Lee73

I actually left about a quarter of them out...

Stevie.

I love that half of Rafa's 'terrible' signings are kids he brought in for next to nothing (and were usually moved on for a few quid more) because the club's own youth system produced one PL quality player between Gerrard in 1999 and Martin Kelly in 2009. But I'm sure the 200 quid a week we paid Ramon Castille crippled the club financially.

Why don't you add youth duds to Evans? Oh yeah, cos no one remembers them because the internet may as well have not existed to the normal person in 1994.

Well well.

If the media is anything to go by then Liverpool are looking at bad times ahead.
I am in no doubt that the media are set on continuing to cast a cloud over Liverpool but according to recent report's
1. We are selling our world class striker who on the day is the best in the premiership (suarez)
2. Were losing our top player last season, one of the best in the premiership (skyrtel)
3. Losing one of the best keepers in the premiership (Reina)
4. Losing an up and coming England star ( Carroll)
5. Losing one of our star youngster on loan (sterling)
6. Plus Liverpool seem to be only good enough to attract mediocre players and we all know that ain't true.

Let's just wait and see what happens hey

Its always the same, murdochs media would have us selling carroll and suarez and no sign of replacements, carroll may go , suarez will not. let them get on with it, they always pander to manchester and london clubs, i put it down to spite and a touch of envy !

21 Jul 2012 15:13:53
hey eds, just wanted your thoughts.

genuinely how long do you think it will take for liverpool to compete for the title 5/6 years, or was the 2nd spot under rafa, gonna be the best we can look back on for a long while. i know last season 2 finals was great, but the title is really what all reds want. i understand top 4 is important, but looking at the teams in the epl and how each has strengthened i think we could have a very though season ahead. do you believe we can get in the champions league spot this coming season with the squad we have ? {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say.}

21 Jul 2012 15:05:08
After all of the Dempsey related news articles being removed from the website earlier, the website is now down. Do you think an announcement could be imminent EDS?

What I don't understand is why Liverpool take so long to complete a transfer? You see other teams completing transfers pretty much the next day, for eg Michu, was in the media one day and had signed the next day. It seems as though were waiting for another club to come and and hijack our bid? Can you please shed some light on liverpool's transfer policy and why each transfer takes so long to complete?

Thanks

Mo

Yeah I agree with this. Why are we so slow with transfers Ed? PJ

Newcastle sold Andy Carroll for £35m and have used the money to buy Cisse, Ba, Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Santon & Andy Carroll. Genius.

Post of the day for me.

Certainly a post for the day for me as well

What does this prove, we had a big donkey in the post of director of football. what a waste of 100m dollar. cheers

Anyone know anymore about naming rights for the new stadium to be Air China?

Have we heard anything new about this or the stadium situation in general. {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that there will be a new stadium.}

FSG aint got no money. Forget about a new stadium expect a bit of paint and a few extra seats.

They should call a new stadium - the deluded fans stadium or the moaning stadium.

We live in the past stadium.

The worlds against us stadium,LOL.

Sterling getting sent out on loan wot a joke

Rodgers is clueless

Even more unlikely due to the 3yr partnership we now have with Garuda Indonesia as the Global Official Airline for Liverpool FC

GoodKopBadKop

Rodgers obviously rates his potential.

People seem to forget that at his age no matter how good he is he won't and shouldn't get a first team spot and so would be better loaned out and able to play more regularly.

If he didn't rate him he would just sell him!

gareth

The kid's 17 years old! He's not going to singlehandedly win us the premiership. Stop leaping on everything brendan rodgers does and using it as an excuse to say he's s*** at his job. You lot are really pissing me off now.

People are going on about Sterling as if he is Messi. He is a kid with potential. A year out on loan will do him good. He won't play every week here.
Kev.

21 Jul 2012 14:50:59
Sky stating that Liverpool will consider loaning out Sterling. Surely if your good enough you are old enough. Looking at some of the current first team players the lad can't be that far away.

Is it just me or is lfc.com down for everyone

21 Jul 2012 14:48:22
Aquilani and Joe cole seem to have nose dived into oblivion post injury Michael Owen style and no club want to pay the massive wages of these big name former internationals. Liverpool seem to have gambled and lost on these two players and clearly don't want them at the club inspite of any media double speak BR may adopt in the future. Even a full wage loan deal is unlikely and having seen them play last season it's understandable. Will they ever be the players they once were in youth when fit again or will they become like Torres an ornamental player clinging to their bit part contributions while their fans point to a handful of YouTube outtakes and convince themselves this phenomenons not lost. BR will have a look at them jogging around harvard and assess their futures but it really is anyone's guess when players begin to suck, into the black hole like robbie keane, morientes, kewell - still wants to get back in the prem, Adam, downing...

21 Jul 2012 14:48:01
Eds,

The LFC site is down now. Can there be an announcement to be made?

Or is it that I have again got ahead of the situation.

Regards,

Ashish(fan from India) {Ed002's Note - Why would they take the site down to make an announcement?}

21 Jul 2012 14:43:42
I am very confused right now, where has this hatred for FSG come from. People have attack them for having no money which I find strange seeming as we've not shied away from spending money in the transfer markets.

There is the case of they promised a stadium but it is a complicated thing and they would need to make sure they make the most beneficial choice for both the short and long term. The only thing I felt peeved off at is when Kenny got sacked but at the same time I was half expecting it and with Brenden in charge I feel confident.

Still people have a genuine hatred and I would like to know why so if some could explain why that would be lovely -McMenemy

They have made liverpool a selling club. They have no money for a new stadium. If they could not afford the club why did they buy it to take it backwards!

I'm not 100% convinced by them yet, they can talk the talk but can they follow it up with positive action.
ok they spent big at the start but that is now on the decline and if half the players are sold becuase the price is right what next.
i can't ever remember a manger of lfc coming out and say anyone can go at the right price, that kind of talk is from teams heading for the drop.
i'll get my armour on ready for the kicking :P

"they made Liverpool a selling club"..... who did we sell?? Torres?? after his two years of depressed statue impression for 50m. Liverpool haven't sold anyone of any value since Alonso which was a different ownership and manager, if we sell Carroll it is because Rodgers doesn't see him playing not due to the money but we will sell for as much as we can for a replacement which will be a player Brenden wants-McMenemy

21 Jul 2012 14:26:54
Seemingly Ryan McLaughlin has been used as a winger by BR so far in training. He big strong and very very fast and is getting a lot of plaudits from the inside. He may get 45 minutes tonight on the right wing. So I hear anyways.

Interested in which of the following 5 forwards people would pick for the squad if it was their choice, bearing in mind it would be 3 to start and 2 on the bench in a 433:

Suarez
Borini
Carroll
Bellamy
Cole
Pacheco
Dempsey
Sturridge
Walcott
Sinclair
Ba

(I'm counting Sterling and Suso as back up to the main 5, hence not included)

(Eds - realise this forum might not be appropriate place for this so don't post if you think it doesn't fit! Be good to gauge opinion re: forward options is all. Ta.)

Start- Borini, suarez and dempsey.
Bench- Ba and Bellamy.

Carroll, Saurez and Borini.

Suarez messi ronaldo
rvp rooney

I'd play 433
Reina
John skrt agger enriq
. .gerard lucas allen . .
. Saurez carrol borini .

John

Suarez Sturridge Walcott/Sinclair

So I am getting lots of stick for slating FSG.
I am certainly proud of you fellow reds, good loyalty towards owners. Thats the usual way of LFC Fans but when you understand and realizes how things are going and the real truth I know most of you would find it hard to accept it and you guys would come to your senses.

THINK

You poor chaps go on clapping when you see our best players sold, when we no longer target top players, when LFC is no longer able to offer top wages to top players including the youngsters.

One of my pals who previously worked for NESV told me how this will turn out to be at the end. Forget what FSG spend on REd Sox, never get deceived they would never spend or invest such amounts in to this club.

JW Henry and Tom Werner would never have the same feeling they have towards Red Sox towards Liverpool.
Remember FSG is a Boston based company, Henry from Red Sox, Red Sox being his boyhood club.

Tell me why on Earth why JW Henry would travel across the Atlantic and buy Liverpool football club and invest in the club heavily. They have only one intention in my mind to make profit. Name me one top club who is running on profit, come on it never happens.

Yonks are no football lovers, we previously has two cow boys and FSG is no different to them.

They are businessmen, Venture Capitalists. You know the motto in business, minimum expenses and high returns, and what venture capitalists normally does, every new venture they invest is like a bargaining tool to them, they would move on when they feel they have received enough profit from the business in search of another venture to invest in.

FSG will not build a new stadium I doubt they would even rebuilt Anfield.

When I heard FSG targeting Roberto Martinez to take over the mangers job I realized how lowly they have been thinking about the club. A manager who just manages to avoid relegation in the past two seasons.

They would never have landed AVB, Van Gaal, Deshamps or Klopp as new boss. Because all of those people would demand a reasonable transfer budget who they are not willing to offer or guarantee. Thus they targeted a manger like BR or Martinez who used to work on low cost budgets. A manager who won't target top players who would demand top wages.

When Kenny Dalglish went on rampage splashing cash madly on Average players including me lots of people thought what generous owners FSG are. But sadly we all were deceived the truth was they gave only very little sum of money, most of the cash were from player sales.

And Ed002 told me the other day that the club is bleeding money atm, but I can't see it as a reason FSG should stop giving money to manager to spend. Even before they bought the club they knew we are in such a state. And with the fact that without UCL we would find it hard to balance the books, what FSG is favoring? getting the club into UCL soon or waiting for couple of seasons which further means more balancing the books to do. If FSG really wants LFC to stop bleeding money, spend some money and take LFC to UCL. Thats it problem solved. The longer it takes the harder it becomes, am afraid another season without UCL would mean more disaster to the club, we cannot afford that.

May be I am a whining, arrogant guy, but I fear for my club thats all what it matters to me I don't care what shi#t others throw at me.

Before this transfer window closes we 'll likely see Luis Suarez and Martin Skrtel sold. SO its ok for you eh nothing to worry. Future is indeed very bright!

Bosco

Very Ture , very True

So you're a 'glass half empty' sort of guy?

Give this dope his own page so we don't have to sift past this b******* when looking for intelligent posts

Much as it pains me to agree with such a negative portrayal of the club's American owners it is sadly true. For too many years the club coasted by on past glories and watched as the world moved on and passed it by. When the realisation finally struck it was too late. We are now little more than a mid table team scrapping for European places. Rodgers is a decent manager and his philosophy chimes with our history unfortunately it's a sport in which money talks and we have been struck dumb.

Ok how much spending on players did FSG sanction when they arrived...don't know the exact numbers but over £100M i think?

How does that stack up with your argument?

Ok Bosco answer yourself this, why would they want to run a company at a loss with no return? They're business people and are trying to get the finances stable. We are paying silly wages for Aquilani, Cole, Johnson etc we were also paying stupid wages for Poulson, Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanoviv who they shipped out and made a loss.
If I was Henry I'd do the same, why on earth would I keep paying outall this money for players who are over the hill or foreigners for mega money to flop?
Buying youngsters and moulding them is a great idea in my opinion and hopefully FSG will prove you very wrong.

Red Raw

No one player is bigger than any club and no one player makes a team, I for one don`t think theres a sportsman alive worthy of £10000 a week let alone £250000.
Everyone who is moaning about splashing cash is just jealous of city, chelsea etc who are throwing money here there and everywhere, but what happens when the owners with all this money decide they want a return on thier investment, what then happens to those big earners, lets face it some players on high wages cannot find other clubs in a position to pay them.
even the richest can loose vast amounts of money, what happens then?
so if we keep paying players £100000, 200000, 300000 a week where does it stop? do we watch as smaller clubs go into liquidation as they cannot attract `top` names to play so cannot get the revenue in to pay bills.
Football nowadays is a bussiness and should be run as one, £x comes in you pay £x out and hopefully have some left in the bank, some club owners are happy to run at a loss just now in the hope they will be able to turn the bussines around.

At least BR is not just rushing into buying just because he can, and I believe the funds are there for him, we failed infront of goal last season, he plays a similar style to what the team played last year, so with a couple of tweeks , which he is identifying, then maybe it will be a better season.
Players come and go all the time and as long as we replace those players then there is not a problem, if a player moves just for an extra £10-20000 a week then thats them being shallow, if they move because they think it is a good move for them-it will improve there game or they are ready for a new challange then say good luck to them, dont slate the owners because they have not offered them the earth to keep them.

I agree FSG should sell the club.

Please have a look at how a football club is run when they dont have a billionaire owner who has money to burn. The club has to be run like a business or the club goes into administration, like we almost did. FSG invested in our club but dont want to throw money down the drain. The simple fact is before we can afford or attract we have to get back into europe and build the other avenues of achieving revenue. How does anybody expect FSG to pay for the new stadium/refurbishing anfield and spend millions on players?

I must say I disagree with a lot of what you say , If the club is "bleeding money" then the smart thing to do is to reign in the budgets, balance the books and then build on a strong foundations. To spend money for moneys sake to get into the Champions league is nice but answer me what happens if we don't United, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal arn't in the mood to let us stroll in and take it what then we have a could bleeding even more money with greater wage build. Bleeding money as if it was a main artery. Then the big players will want to go as the club would look incapable of reaching and if no glory was reachable. Then the club is quite frankly fecked.

As for Brenden who is the greater manager? To manager who can get the best out of players or the one who just spends money to reach success. Thats why Sir Alex (how much I hate him) is a great manager because look at the team he had last year it was in no way on paper able to challenge to league if it was for any other manager. -McMenemy

And now FSG does not even have money to maintain the www.lfc.tv server.

come on u duds, get behind the club. owners will change hands, player will change clubs, it is the loyalty of the fans which makes ANFIELD and LIVERPOOL.

Ok, i'll try and have my say, although I haven't had any comments posted since the Euros. The only thing FSG have in common with the other two clowns is they are both Yanks.
We've tried the "buying superstars" route to success and while it might get results in the short term you have nothing to build on. You seem determined to critisize FSG on every front, but in my eye's they've done everything right at the moment....
1. Came in and wiped most of the debt out. Steadying the club financial wise.
2. Brought Kenny Dalglish back and steadying the club on the field.
3. Gave Kenny enough money to buy good players to take us forward quickly.
4. Even though we won our first trophy for 6 years things were not right, FSG saw this and acted, Damian Comolli went and unfortunately Kenny followed, although in my opinion the players let him down big time.
5. They have now decided to go down the more sensible route. Employ a man with talent and experience with younger players. Give him time to do things his own way.
In my opinion it will take a bit of time, even up to 4 years, but remember this man is trying to do what Bill Shankley done with us in the sixties. Remember though Bill had a little help from, Bob Paisley, Ronnie Moran, Joe Fagan, and in the latter times a brilliant young coach called Roy Evans who took Liverpool reserves to 9 Central league wins out of 10 years, this was when the reserve league actually meant something.
Youngsters with a mix of experience is the way to go.....e.g. Man U with Beckham, etc.. Arsenal with their youngsters.
There is a saying.."Sleeping Giant", but I think Liverpool have been in a friggin Coma and are just waking up and still a bit groggy.
oh just one more thing. To those Rafa lovers who keep on with the "Rafa got us to 2nd in the league". Just remember that season we should have pi$$ed the league, we were far better than everybody but let ourselves down drawing too many games.
I believe good times are just around the corner, just give Brenden time, he is a wonderful coach.

Is it me or are Lfc not totally rebuffing Suarez approaches? And Juve being very disrespectfull naming Suarez as bait for Van persie,or do they know something we dont? If so i Fear Borini and Dempsey do not pocess the quality to replace Suarez. Also why are Lfc quite over Skrtel and Agger? We should add to better players and Nucleas,NOT disband it.A hands off would be good to hear

So saying he is not for sale and they want him to sign a new contract isnt enough

This is a made up story that only appeared on the BBC website. Juve couldn't afford both. Juve lost 95M in 2010/11 and are in financial trouble. What about Jovetic going there anyway?? {Ed002's Note - I have been telling you for months about Juve's interest in Suarez. So it is hardly something made up by the BBC.}

I am all in favour for chain Suarez up in a hidden location until the transfer season is over, Giving Skrtel a sword to guard him and Brenden Rodgers to fly over to italy just to slap every juventus fan who has ever lived. But thats just my opinion -McMenemy

You are obviously hard of hearing - Rodgers said loud and clear in an interview that EVERY player has a price, and if an offer is made then it will be looked at - the same at every club that isn't bankrolled by multi-billionaires.

Rodgers says he might loan sterling but surely sterling can't go on loan till he's 18 ( which I think is in January ), isn't that a rule?

Gh*lfc {Ed002's Note - Subject to an exception being requested, yes. It is because in the eyes of the Premier League players under 18 still count as children and there are commitments regarding schooling, limitations on training time etc..}

21 Jul 2012 13:48:10
what are the chances of our young talent such as suso and sterling going out on loan or being sold?

im hearing lots of rumours about suso going to olmypiakos with miralles coming the other way plus 5m

any truth in this?

cheers
lack97 {Ed002's Note - It would be fair the say that BR will be assessing the players whilst on tour and we will likely know more about possible loans once they return.}

Dempsey update coming very shortly I'm told - expecting progress this weekend, Monday at the latest... Source is an old informant with links to a few London clubs..

Is anybody else concerned with FSG's Investment in the club. 18 months in and they have done nothing on the stadium, and investment in the team is miles behind some of the leauges big spenders. If they want Liverpool to be one of the worlds biggest clubs again we need to act like one.

Clown we've spent loads of money.
I get this whole net spend thing I really do but tbh it should be irrelevent how much we sell players for when we are paying 8 figure sums out to the likes of Newcastle and Sunderland, at the end of the day those clubs have still gained massive amounts for their players.

8 Figure sums or not, are other clubs in the leauge spending year on year lots more than Liverpool on Transfers and wages ?
Do you really believe that if this carry's on, we will ever be back were i assume you and all other Liverpool fans want to be.

21 Jul 2012 13:38:20
Why is everyone acting like Suarez is the second coming of Guaranga? He's just a football player, a good one, but not irreplaceable. He's a big factor in the recent bad press we've had with the Evra situation (whether he was guilty or not) and he obviously hasn't learnt to just shut up about it.

If a good enough bid comes in- and im talking a realistic one like 25-30m not these 60m figures soe are talking about- then i think we should take it, reinvest it in a similar player with less trouble and move on.

LFC>luis Suarez.

Suarez might not be the second coming of Guaranga but if he leaves we wouldn't get a suitable replacement even in our dreams..

Why are you people so deluded and open to selling our best players. Are you happy to see Suarez, Lucas, Skrtel, Agger and Reina leaving...

Bosco

Great..then buy a replacement of suarez...who will steal the KOP end and heart..you need a doctor..he is not just a footballler..he leads the team by example...if he is in the team..we believe we can win the game..apart from gerrard and torres i havent seen any of such one man army as suarez...keep him this season..he will still scores 20 goals..

Deluded? The delusion is thinking that without Suarez the club is nothing. When did i ever say anything about anyone else, the other players you've mentioned havent caused half the trouble that suarez has. It gets to a point when personal problems off the pitch outweigh ability on it.

Why are you so deluded to think we want to listen to your 'End of the World is Nigh' misery?

corinaus

Name some who can replace him and who we could buy before you jump on the band wagon saying Suarez is replaceable.

Just seeing all these rumours of suarez being chased to juventus eds do you think liverpool would sell for anything below 30mil n would jovetic? Munain? N players like that be considered to replace him? Thanks
Basy {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what Liverpool would see as an acceptable figure.}

Jovetic, munian, higuain, cavani...common guys y these players need to come in to us now...are we the champions?...are we in CL?..do we have great players?...

21 Jul 2012 13:33:19
Spoke with Rodgers last night (literally. He talked to fans in Toronto for about 30 mins after the practice). I asked him about Allen and he said "he's a good lad, with a promising future". Obviously this isn't a crazy new rumour but thought I'd share something right from Rodgers.....

Can we have an IP check ed? {Ed002's Note - You are in Southampton.}

ED002 - If you are not to busy planning your wedding with Majestic69 can you tell where I am from?

You were not telling me that last week! But I see 2 "Agree"s you said no one else would see this is getting out-of-hand. But I did do some situps and ran a bit so I figure like 2 more weeks of this and I will have six pack abs. Ed002 do you know where I left the bronzer?

Why are people slating Walcott - he's a Liverpool supporter and is a decent player.....would rather have him than blooming Downing.

I hope we go for Theo...he could be a real match winner for us.

Ben

Well seeing as we are both called Ben and sign it with that I think someone will have to change.

Ben

Whos Blooming Downing?
fagan81

Much rather have Downing - safe in the knowledge he cannot have another season like the last one. All this Walcott is a Liverpool supporter nonsense - football is not a sport anymore, players are only interested in money, Fowler, Owen, McManaman, Carragher were allegedly Everton supporters, do you think the fact that we paid more had an influence on them.

If Suarez leaves, which it seems like he will, FSG and BR need to pull off a major coup.
We have to make a big signing not replace with likes of sturridge or wallcot.
In our current climate we are lucky to have 1 of the best in the world and he is the only one keeping us to still be some sort of threat in the league and not a fully mid table team.

we all know that newcastle will get carroll by using a player + cash option and if i were rodgers the only player i would accept would have to be ben arfa, the kid is special, any chance eds?
YM {Ed002's Note - I would doubt they would look to offer Ben Arfa.}

Ben arfa to liverpool? why would he want to join a club that finished 8th??

And how do we know that? As far as LFC are concerned no player Newcastle have is worth more than 10 million so we'd want 20 million cash, which I suspect they will not offer - so deal will not happen.
Andy Carroll will remain at Liverpool.

John B

Has no one else seen what the Newcastle fans did to Jose Enrique on twitter. Apparently scoucers are known for their wit, and that we got a taste of our own medicine...when have we ever pinched above out weight and tried to criticise a more successful team (bare in mind Liverpool is the most successful team in England). Newcastle haven't won anything in yearrrs... I'm so baffled

John, that's a stupid statement. With their performances last season I'd say at least Krul, Cisse, Cabaye and Tiote would all command a transfer fee in excess of 10 million.

The last time Newcastle won anything worthwhile was in 1955. An absolute joke of a club.

Manchester controls football politics - Suarez has been on the BBC football front page for days now.

Suarez was spot on what he said about manc utd being in control of the football politics.

BBC wants to make sure everyone sees it, so biased against lfc, it will probably be there for weeks {Ed002's Note - Don't be ridiculous. Who raised the issue yet again.}

We all know the F.A. stands for Fergerson Association.

Sir old whiskey nose raised the issue again good old mancs
up the pool
Redan {Ed002's Note - Suarez raised the issue - yet again.}

Its not about the issue ed002 its the fact that the bbc stick it on the front page and leave it there for days and counting {Ed002's Note - And you interpret this to be meaningful? If it upsets you so much, don't look at the BBC web page.}

Yes suarez did raise it but that news being there for so long thats what is baised... OR we liverpool fans can take it that Liverpool rumours are the most reasd and gives the news paper guys money
snap it!

Eds just reading a bit down the page and see that alot of our top players are maybe being sold. Do we have replacements of similar or higher quality lined up or are we just self destructing? All seems a bit worrying? {Ed002's Note - Players are simply transient employees of the club. They come, they go.}

{Ed002's Note - Players are simply transient employees of the club. They come, they go.}
...Another excellent retort from Ed002, and so very VERY true.

Stevie.

Yes all of our top players will be sold, fsg is destroying us, they don't have money to to run the club,

they can't even resolve the stadium issue still

simply not good enough owners

get lost

worried and angered

bosco

And at man united and the likes they are'nt!! is they why they win things and we don't you mean!

Yes they come and go, but the trick is to let them go when they've had their day and you have the appropriate replacement. Selling players at their peak will harm the team as we found out with Alonso, Masch and Torres. You only have to look at Arsenal too and see what's happened there too.

Was a good answer - BUT - how many of the transients will go? Too many will put us some trouble I reckon x

Dear Bosco.
Everyone in life has issues. However, the key is not to let them get you down. Why don't you try the search function -- type in 'Bosco'. I guarantee it will make you realise that there are always people with a more skewed pessimistic view of life.
Oh, hang on....

Why is Bosco worried and angered, I don't suppose his team are worried about what Liverpool do.

ed great site..and great work..

people here want to sell suarez....my oh my...pls..for god sake hold on to suarez...
he came from ajax..and stole our heart..with his performance..
tell me how many did that as a striker apart from torres?
we never missed torres because the kop had suarez..
his run, his dribbling skills, his style and his shooting...is absolute quality..
he is no messi, or ronaldo..but trust me he is the best we could have this stage..
if we sell him..we get 30 mill add another 20 mill..but still no one would come to us without a CL..
we cannot experiment with another caroll..
we need to hold on..because if we dont challenge anything this season...we would be in great problem next season...

21 Jul 2012 11:44:57
Seperate issue(and understand wage package huge)But anyone else surprised with Van Persie cheapness?

1 year left on his contract i guess?

Kaizer

He is also 29,Therefore very little sell on value, injury prone and available for free next year!
ItsNotRocketScience

Has he been sold yet ? - I think not, don't be surprised if his still an Arsenal player - Wenger won't sell him cheap.

21 Jul 2012 11:43:23
Fulham initially said no approach or bid made when Fenway Site reported deal done for Dempsey.And now that seems stalled.Swanseas Laudrup now saying no approach yet for Allen.Appreciate Eds comments about formulating transfers takes time.But wtf?-mixed messages and no apparent movement.We either want these guys or dont {Ed002's Note - If Fulham said "no approach" had been made for Dempsey it is untrue.}

21 Jul 2012 11:40:43
There seems to be loads of negative people on here. Personally, I'm really excited for the new season. It will be a different LFC this year. Much different to what we have experienced for many many seasons. BR has twenty years experience as a coach and he is very highly rated and don't be fooled by FSG. They will take the club forward. This season will be one of the best we've experienced for years! Red alert!!

hi eds
I am from India. i have been a fan of this site for a long time now and this my first post.i am really excited about the kids coming through i think our academy is top class.and i think in Brendan Rodgers we have perfect manager who can really help and motivate these youngsters making them into top class player which will save us millions.I really think we will be a surprise package next year.

Cmon lads time to get typing who will or who would you start tonight. STEMLOCC1

Will probably be a different 11 each half - both need to be a good mix of youth & experience...

I'd start with 12 players and see if anyone notices

21 Jul 2012 11:07:22
if carroll leaves what would be the chances of bringing in adrian lopez? a front 3 of suarez , borini and adrian looks pure class. {Ed002's Note - See other answers.}

21 Jul 2012 10:53:52
So the rumours persist about Suarez..... There must be something going on.......so let me ask u this..... What happens if we do sell Andy Carroll and then juventus come in and snatch Suarez too..... Where would that leave us? In trouble that's where.....when did we become a selling club and a club that can't keep there players happy? I'll support Liverpool and the owners no matter what but things are becoming a joke.......

Andy

Actually it would leave us with money in the bank to go and buy other strikers and it would leave us as a more attractive option to strikers who may wish to come to us as they will go straight into the starting 11. No player is irreplaceable and no player should ever be allowed to think he is. RED LENIN.

All because of last years execptional performance and league standing...if players neeeds to saty..either they stay wen we have our goals set..we are still in rebuidling..even after 4 years...no one would have utterd a word if we would have been in CL..wen we really did had...saw hcelsea and arsenal loosing games last seaosn...we bought some extra ordinary players with extra ordinarly amount..and we are paying it off...we cannoot match the wages..neither we attract top talents....Oh god were are u taking us??

Nonsense...whta u think..we get ri dof sureaz..and we have money..and we approach..urs quality players..and they will without a doubt of hisitation..they will join liverpool with out CL? can u guarantee..any top players who will come to us..u now what......swansea played good football last seaosn..good wuality footbal..u knwo why people dont remember them..coz they dont have crowd pulling players.....even if barca and madrid loose 5 games..they still will be top becoz of their stars..we only have few..gerrard, reina, agger lucas and suarez..and if u sell ur stars...no matter how good u play..u wont be noticed...

Wow you have completely blown my mind, did you actually check that before posting ???wtf

What's happened I go away for three days and everyone's gone miserable again. Out for Allen's blood, I didn't catch the game but were we expecting GB to win.

A random bunch of player most who have never played with each other and the "over age players" where others brought in Suarez, Mata, Pato" we have Giggs and Bellamy.

Forgot to sign off soz -McMenemy

I think I can safely say that "paul daniels and debbie mcgee are a great team" is a phrase I never expected to read on this site......and lets be honest there have been some utterly bizarre things written these last few weeks.

Here's hoping Chris in Tamworth and Ed002 come up with another cryptic reference soon. Now that was fun to watch.

Neil Taylor 2m
Out
Charlie Adam 3m

Liverpool have agreed a fee of 8m + add ons rising to ten for Clint Dempsey he will be joining the squad in Boston before Liverpool play Roma at Fenway park and liverpool close to agreeing fee with swansea for Allen but Swansea are holding out for 15m we are willing to pay 10m

21 Jul 2012 10:28:31
Charlie Adam may well be used in negotiations by Liverpool to try and sign Fulham's Clint Dempsey. Is that better for you?

Better than what? If Adam doesn't want to part of that negotiation, then he won't be, he's under contract, it's his choice not LFC's.

John B

Excellent business...we wont get any buyer for him...

21 Jul 2012 10:26:52
Liverpool should seriously think about signing Jack Butland

21 Jul 2012 09:55:06
Watching Joe Allen last night, I thought some of his forward passing that required imagination didn't quite come off. However the lad clearly covers a lot of ground, plays it simple and puts a foot in. Reminds me a bit of Lucas and we certainly missed him when his season ended with injury. In fact if he did come to us, I'm sure he could learn from Lucas. It will be interesting to see how he does throughout the competition as at first glance you could argue that he's ideal cover for Lucas but on the other hand you could argue there's not a great deal of difference between him and Spearing.

Ozone

Wasn't a bad post - until you mentioned Spearing.

Am i reading this wrong or are you really suggesting allen is very similar to spearing? Oh dear...

Joe Allen is already 10 times the player Spearing will ever be.

Why on earth are we signing players for covering other players...cant we sign someone who directly is a started or replacement....gerrard can cover if lucas gets injured...sell adam and spearing..i would be happy if we get ramirez...thats quality for me..absolute quality...who would directly fit in 4-3-3...i dont actually mind selling downing and getting affaley..he too can comepete with ramirez...get boroni and dempsy for the right wing...lucas, gerrard and aqua..will fit the pass and speed move in the midfield..and we can be a nightmare to opposition in anfeild...

Spearing must be moved on

15m for keeping Lucas's bench warm

21 Jul 2012 09:52:31
What a great signing 'Average Joe' will be as a swansea fan who lives in narbeth i'd be happy to take you for mugs that you are 15 million thank you very much.

You live in Narbeth!
and your taking anyone as a Mug??
Lol.......

That 15mil for Allen is similar amount to the parachute payment u will recieve next season ;p

Swansea will be relegated next season. The bubble will burst and they will be found out. You will soon be back in the Championship where your Mickey Mouse club belongs

Don't support Liverpool or Swansea, but I can see that he is actually a decent player. Young too, so will only improve.
Take no notice of the obviously jealous bitter that started the topic.
If you manage to get him, I think he will become a top player for you.

Buddy..we are not here to improve player...we need to improve club..we need CL..we dont need to be another arsenal...get the kids..train them..make them stars..and they move to another club...........plsssssssssssss

Hope the Swansea bubble isn't about to burst, we are about to follow the same football principles

Everyone, excitement, we've got a friendly tonight!

What do we think the starting team will be? I am unsure about the front three, as we currently have no out and out, first team strikers with the touring party (Borini + Carroll come on Monday, Suarez at the Olympics) so who will play up front? Maybe Sterling, Ibe and Pacheco, that would be interesting for us all to see. Who do you expect to be playing them?

Thanks

Burnsy

These end ov season breaks shows me ,wot life with out lfc football is like ,and it's not nice ha,Carnt wait for game and new season YNWA. Lfc linc

I know Liverpool fans think Suarez leaving would be a terrible idea and so on ... But if you can manage to bargain and get Sebastian Giovinco in the deal you will have a special player. He is in my opinion one of the most under rated players in world football his dribbling and pace along with his versatility are exceptional. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Stop playing fifa! and using their terms

No one comes closer to suarez in terms of quality..he can create, run, supply and score goals on his own...
if giovinca is special..why on earth juventus wanna sell him?

To the poster wbo replied. maybe he actually knows what he is talking about. dont spit the dummy out jusg because he has knowledge of a player yiu dont. also, i agree giovinci is VERY good. i wouldnt be adverseto a deal involvinghim.

21 Jul 2012 09:37:17
Hello Ed002,
just wondering if Rodgers would be interested in any Juve player or would he prefer cash for Suarez to find replacement somewhere else. thanks. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know whether he would be interested in Krasic or Giovinco as part of any deal.}

Both can be bought independently....common guys..we should not sell suarez..and say..no one is greater than club..we did with torres and i am afraid he will hit top form this season...we dont wanna sell suarez..for god sake he is the only current liverpool player who fits into any BR style...plsplspl

21 Jul 2012 09:34:55
Suarez is a top top player but I don't believe his atitude is right for playing for our football club, he shows to much immaturity. He is damaging our reputation we have gathered over so many years, the owners are not happy with this at all. I for one am hoping that he is sat down and giving a last warning and conduct himself the LFC way if he cannot do that then listen to offers of £40mill+

Cocko

Yeah - great idea, listen to offers for our only world class player - behave, the message that would send out would be catastrophic in attracting any decent players.

John B

Rubbish!!

Think of all the players currently out there at the moment.

How many can you name that can go past a player whether at walking pace, jogging or at full speed?

How many of them can do it time after time and at will?

How many of them can do it so many different ways that the defender doesn't know what they are going to do next?

How many of them can create something out of nothing?

By now you've probably got a list that has Messi at the top. Maybe Ronaldo at no.2 there maybe one or two players from Brazil as well.

However, the list isn't going to be that long and Suarez can be and should be on it.

It would be a mistake to let him go at any price.

A lot of negative posts about him are obviously from fans of other teams. Either jealous that we have such a player or they don't like him because of how silly he made their team look.

Ridiculous...look tevez, rooney, how many players have said these with their clubs..and everybody moved on....hold on to sureaz...for god sake...

In my opinion the previous management of the suarez situ, and from that i mean everyone from Dalglish and Commolli to the PR and Law Dept, put the idea of all this anti Man U in his head... (I do agree Man U have too much power) However, rather than just telling him to grow up and apologise, they used the situation to try and create a them and us attitude.
Someone needs to get a hold of Suarez and tell him to move on from this.. its over!
We cannot afford, as a club, to have this continue to hang over our heads, making us out to be bitter ppl.
Was it unjust? In some ways Yes!
Could it have been stopped in its tracks? Absolutley!
If Suarez wants to play in England he has to move on from this.. otherwise he is a liabilty to the team, His petulance will see him sent off and banned for important games. Its childish to be honest.
ItsNotRocketScience

If Suarez goes - we're SCREWED.

He is one of the world's greatest players. We need more great players - we shouldn't sell our best one.

If Suarez goes - expect Reina, Skrtel, Agger - and god knows who else (Lucas?) to want to jump ship too. I wouldn't blame them either.

Wake up people.

BJH YNWA {Ed002's Note - The players are pretty fickle if they all leave because someone else has left.}

Eds is it true that Suso's contract expires next year? {Ed002's Note - It is.}

Surely we will offer him a new contract soon ?

No , bloody FSG want to sell him too they can't offer top wages even to the youngsters

Bosco

21 Jul 2012 09:26:10
I don't like the way that Rodgers talks about our players and other teams players it's very disrespectful of other teams he should remain tightlipped aka Dempsey, Allen. Perhaps he should think about selling himself because Im not enamoured by him, selling Carroll would push me right over the edge let alone reina, skrtel, Suarez. And before somebody writes back go and support another team, I don't want to for every one fan that likes Rodgers I bet there's five that don't. 27 years and counting.

If that's 27 years as a Liverpool fan, you are a bot of a new boy then, think you are wrong about 1 in 5 ratio, most real fans will back BR, and at least give him time, especially after the drab football we've played since 1992.

John B

For every 5 decent fans there is 1 clown. Guess which one you are.

I have been thinking that as well in his early interviews he said transfer dealings will be done the Liverpool way and he would not mention names etc

So a bit disappointed he is registering his interest in the media unless of course the deal has already been done and we are just waiting for a formal announcement eg selling club waiting to sign replacement / olympics etc

Don't like to make the comparison but you rarely hear Saf talk about players he geniunely wants in the press
If he just wants to meddle and boost the price he will mention names eg Adam / rvp/ Modric

Dont see him mention Lucas moura when it is well documented the want him

2005 Champions League?

Yes it does mean 27 years im not a new boy when you've only been on the planet 27 years. Brendan Rodgers is a knob plane and simple if you don't like it tough s*** I don't care when he sucks you'll agree. I wish I was sacked by Reading to go on to take the Liverpool job. For every one that doesn't like him theirs five fans willing to buy the new top and the bulls*** that fsg keep feeding you.

21 Jul 2012 09:20:42
Eds, could you some up whats happening with joe allen at the moment, has we agreed a fee or is it just rumours?thanks {Ed002's Note - There is interest - I don't know of any fee being agreed at this time, but it might of done.}

21 Jul 2012 09:19:24
Is Borini in america with the squad now because i have not seen any images of him training?

I do believe that he will rejoin with the squad with the rest of the English players on Monday, and Reina, who needed an extra long break because his Euros was a hard tournament for him!

Thanks

Burnsy

Burnsy is correct, except for Reina who isn't going on the tour.

21 Jul 2012 09:16:05
Much and all as I would be happy for Joe Allen to join Liverpool and firmly believe he will strengthen our squad but if Swansea rate him at £15m and we are willing to meet that asking price wouldn't we perhaps be better to spend a little extra to secure a player like Adam Johnson.

I read not so long ago Man City has a price tag of £16m on him. Is this still the case? Is signing Adam Johnson becoming less and less likely? It only my opinion I think signing Borini, Dempsey and Johnson would go a long way to fill in any weaknesses we may have had last year.

Also Eds, is there a contingency plan if we do lose Skirtl or Agger. Have we got someone in mind as good that we have scouted to replace either of these key players should they move on?

Keep up the good work!
Dave {Ed002's Note - To me Liverpool have plenty of cover at CB with Carragher, Coates, Kelly, Wilson and no doubt some youngsters.}

Ed002 as a chelsea fan of course you are gonna say we have adequate cover when we clearly dont!

Carragher and Wilson would struggle to get into a championship first team let alone Liverpool fc!

Some of ur comments really do highlight the fact you are not a lfc supporter!

If chelsea had them defenders at their disposal you would not be sitting here saying you have adequate cover mate.

Over and Out. {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with being a Chelsea fan or not. People spend half the year crying out for the youngsters to be given a chance but when push comes to shove you have no interest in playing the yoiungsters at all - you just want the club to spend money they don't have buying "name" players. Don't be surprised to see youngsters heading for the door. And why the comparison with Chelsea?}

How can Man City put a 16 million price tag on bench warmer Johnson, they bought him for 7 or 8 million, and he certainly hasn't improved since then.

John B

Check out this report: Hope it is published throws some reality on the Suarez report.

Last night the BBC caused a storm by publishing a story which said Juventus had told Robin van Persie that they wished to pair him with Liverpool's Luis Suarez in Turin. There's nothing in Italy about this yet, other than stories which have used the BBC article as their base.

It would be odd for the Serie A club, not averse to leaking news to the Italian media, to decide to bypass them and tell their English counterparts. If they're trying to send a message to people in England then a story which started in Italy wouldn't take a couple of hours to reach it's way to these shores and subsequently create back pages.

Therefore, assuming the information is true, the only place this could have come from is a source relevant to either Arsenal or Liverpool or one of the players involved.

As a bit of a reality check, it's highly unlikely that Juventus could afford both Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie, and that's before their huge wages. Pay packets in excess of £100k a week are nowhere near as common in Serie A as they are in the Premier League and AC Milan's recent balancing of the books shows that the league isn't awash with money in comparison to others in Europe.

After arranging the Ibrahimovic transfer agent Mino Raiola, born in Italy to Italian parents but brought up in Holland, said that football in the country was going backwards and needed a huge injection of money if teams were to attract top players. Whilst his comments were slightly over the top, Juventus getting Suarez and Van Persie just doesn't appear realistic.

The excellent and well informed football finances website, Swiss Ramble, looked at the club in January and a read through their report would lay it bare that the club simply couldn't pull off such a transfer coup, their TV revenues have fallen as the money has been more evenly distributed in Italy.

This passage, although misleading if used as a blanket commentary on their finances, paints a picture:

Although Juventus have shown a significant improvement on the field of play, it's a different story off the pitch, as they reported a huge loss of 95 million for the 2010/11 season, a dramatic worsening from the previous year's 11 million loss, when the club actually made a small 2 million profit before being hit with a hefty 13 million tax charge.

Juventus need a goal scoring striker to build on their success of last year and have been linked with both players extensively by the Italian press but to buy both would turn everything people thought about the club's transfer policy on its head.

{Ed002's Note - Interest in Suarez from Juve has been going on for months but I agree it is most unlikely that they would move for both Suarez and RvP.}

Well, even with no UCL football Totenham are building a great team. I knew AVB has that attribute of attracting and getting top quality players from across the continents. Verthongen ( Dutch leagues best player), Sigurdsson and now Hugo Llrois, ALvaro Perreira and even Hulk.

And they seems to have more money recently where has all that come from?

I bet Spurs would definitely be in top 4 next season along with Chavs, Citeh and UTD.

Kiss ass we have no chance of getting top 4 or even top 7.

You people are deluded, FSG are shi** owners, We needed owners who would match our admission not bunch of cow boys who would use as a bargaining tool in their venture business.

If BR can do anything right, sell those overrated big money flops who a deluded Dalglish bought. Downing, Adam, Carroll, and the usual crap Spearing and Cole.
Generate more money as possible as it is what clubs who don't have cash usually does.

The reality is LFC is a poor mid table club and a club who sell their best players season after season.

I bet people would be calling for BR's head before Christmas. And LFC could find themselves behind Laudraps Swansea who seems to be assembling a great team.

F##K O#f FSG

Bosco

You should read the posts that show what FSG have done since they've been here. Everyday another person comes on and does a pathetic rant about something so stupid. Do you realise where we'd be without FSG?

Also AVB didn't attract Vertongan, he was practically signing when they had no manager.

You say F##K O#F FSG, I say go and support Spurs Bosco

Haha get a grip joker.fsg saved are club fact, who ever we sign i back are club win lose or draw, the yids can buy whoever they want it dont mean s***e,it was time for big changes in the way we play welcome rodger's dont diss him his not started this job yet and your wanting him too get the sack what a joke.i for 1 am happy with it.if we play great football then you can beat any team on the day fact.no matter who they are, take a look at the top teams we beat last year.we have no CL too offer so player's we sign now will want too play for us fact.your be singing when were winning i bet.say what you like we are on the road back too the top fact.jay essex red for life red till dead, walk on with hope

Why the obsession with Spurs? Where is your proof they are buy the players you mentioned? You are definately one of the worst Liverpools fans on these pages and that's saying something lately .

MR EM

Why do you support Liverpool again? Your an embarrassment

The avengers is a great team, dean martin and jerry lewis was a great team, paul daniels and debbie mcgee are a great team. Swansea are NOT a great team

Spot on m8 we don't have money and we need to sell before buy and our targets are average. cant see us getting any near top 4 with them. all we have now is history and mid table owners

I am sorry but have to agree and to make it worse we are not getting stronger we are getting weaker if it's true Suarez and Carroll are going and with average joe coming in from Swansea.
Poacher

Bosco - search his name on This site and you'll find a glut of criticism and negativity. Why are you even pretending to be a Liverpool fan when you make RedTurk seem like a 60s flower child? Go and support Spurs PLEASE because you're not doing any kind of supporting on this page

cozinoz

Why the reaction? it's what the post expected - would be nice to know what team he actually follows - I'm guessing Spurs, who are not really improving their side, not many Belgian footballers have been successful in the PL, and they have lost Adebayor, and they haven't signed lloris - I do love the comment that Laudrup assembling a great team - they are selling their 2 best players FFS, and Laudrup hasn't actually set the world on fire as a manager.

John B

For a little taste of Boscos juvenile mind - UTFSF. pure comedy gold.

BigBadBen

If the Avengers are such a good team then why do you think Hulk is joining Spurs!

AVB will be sacked by Christmas. Liverpool will finish above Spurs.

morning just read a poster saying we should build our team around jay spearing and sell stevie as he is the furture, sorry you are deluded jay is a good player who always gives his best and although stevie is getting older(in football terms) he is still this countrys outstandind midfielder, yes he needs to be replaced in a couple of years when he starts to slow down but at the moment he has the engine and the touch that all top teams need. we have needed to rebuild our team, and the fact that we will not pay stupid wages is in my opinion a really good thing, when BR builds his team and we start to win we will have to beat top players with a stick to stop them wanting to sign,ray3037

Spearing is one of the reasons chelsea beat us in the fa cup final and why we lost so many home games.

To be fair i think that guy was just having a bit of banter and being sarcastic

cant wait for first pre season game tonight also off to see new batman movie today. Carlsberg don't do Saturdays but if they did...... :)

21 Jul 2012 06:58:44
Hi Ed's
Rodgers obv is looking to bring a winger in.
Would u have any info as to who? {Ed002's Note - I have postulated who it may be - I think we will have a clearer view after they return from the US and after TEam GB are out of the Olympics.}

21 Jul 2012 06:48:44
first game later looking forward to seeing what we are like. i know its only pre season but theres been alot of talk about how much they have enjoyed the training. i think he may well start with sterling on left and cole on the right and with morgan upfront with aquaman behide him. spearing, adam in the middle. i really do think brendon rogers set up will suit aquaman.

Totally agree im buzzing to see the game, is borini there yet or is he joining up later along with the other players from the euros?

21 Jul 2012 06:11:44
Can we replace Reina with Marc-André ter Stegen? Ur thoughts Ed 002 {Ed002's Note - I really don't know, sorry.}

We can if we buy him. Otherwise it's kinda awkward

21 Jul 2012 01:06:46
eds seems as suarez will be leaving do we have any targets of replacement in mind. i know we wont be getting cavani and all these superstars but any relaistic guys thanks

marcos {Ed002's Note - We need to wait to see what happens with Suarez.}

How does it seem Saurez is leaving? - oh wait, you believe what the media print - gullible or what.

20 Jul 2012 21:53:26
Ed002 are there any soccer websites that you find credible? Like espn soccernet for example?

Chinaman {Ed002's Note - I rarely look at any. Generally the most credible would be the club's own sites.}

20 Jul 2012 21:17:57
Ed002, any idea if the thing about Dempsey signing on FSG website has stalled our move for Dempsey and potentially not signing him?
Thanks,
Josh {Ed002's Note - It would have made no difference.}

20 Jul 2012 19:00:38
Evening eds and fellow reds , I was just reading a earlier post from waro .there is a reply on there about the fair play rule . Well I was listening to a programme on the radio the other day and they were saying that this fair play rule and spending what you earn has not be voted in yet and it's only a proposal. Have you any info .cheers psv {Ed002's Note - Actually I was going to try and write an explanation yesterday but I was too busy with work. I'll get it done.}

20 Jul 2012 17:23:41
Ed002 I was the first to reply to a question to-day about Allen joining us&i would like to clarify what i ment to say if i may...I have never seen Allen play but from what if have read on here a lot of people have faith in him as a very good player. My main concern with him signing is that it may stunt the growth of Shelvey&Henderson(both of whom i think are going to be great player's)Allen could become one of the first choice in CM&that could maybe see the lad's either go out on loan or on the bench. And that is what worries me,that it may knock there confidance. The money issue doesnt bother me&reading what everybody is saying he seem's to be a very good player&I WILL back him 100% but i just worry where will that leave the lad's we already have here....Cheer's all,YNWA!!

Or is could be seen as healthy competition for Henderson and Shelvey. Plus we have Europa games next season so we need a squad full of players. After watching a clip some guy posted on here about Henderson yesterday called "A Toast To Jordan Henderson" my opinion of him has grown, he is a classy clever player, anyone think different and you should go and look.

living in glasgow i don't really get to many games maybe just 1 or 2 a season but when i do get a chance to go to anfield i never get a feel of all the negativity from the crowd that i read on here.

like i say i don't get often so maybe you guys who go all the time might know better but it seems to me all the whiners and moaners just like to anonymously sit behind a computer screen and slag of the owners/manager/players/potential signings but never actually show up to the games which i hope is true because at least the team can see and hear the true supporters in the stands doing what they are supposed to do and actually supporting the team.

Deluded, watch as it unfolds how FSG makes Liverpool a medicore mid table team.

You should cheer FSG in their mission leading LFC once again to a dead end.

The last thing we could have expected is some business mad venture capitalist who would see our club as a bargaining tool.

Bosco

You're a bit of a misery mate, we haven't even kicked off yet, I'm glad I don't live in your world, it must be very dark there!!
stevieH

Bosco i stopped reading after the first word on your reply, but interestingly "deluded" is what you are if you think LFC needs "supporters" like you. see the difference between us is that i'll support liverpool if they're in the prem league or the blue square, i'll support them if they're signing players from barcelona or fleetwood town in other words i'll support them through the wind and through the rain maybe you should take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if you would do the same

I stopped reading when I saw the name Bosco, obviously not an LFC supporter- we still don't know who he actually supports.

John B

Bosco is certainly up there with the worst form of hand washers this site has ever seen. I hope his head falls off at an inconvenient moment

why not go for jack butland? he looked terrific today. if reina might be leaving and if he is not he is still older why not go for him he is not that much and he would be a great addition to the team.

Because we have Gulacsi who has great potential and has been loyal to the club for years now. If we keep buying young talented players to replace young talented players, then where does it stop? I'm not trying to be cynical, and I do know where you're coming from as I think Butland is a decent prospect, but we need to give our own youngsters a chance, especially if they may be good enough.

Ed, can you tell me, who is the gk coach at the moment? {Ed001's Note - I believe Rodgers is bringing one over from Swansea with him, but I still have seen no official confirmation of that happening!}

21 Jul 2012 01:48:57
Im sure we all have read what suarez has said recently it sounded ok to me hes still standing his ground also saying that the club new what was going on seems to me hes got the backing of the club.

21 Jul 2012 01:16:36
Adrian Lopez is the target to replace Andy C. Front 3 Suarez-Lopez-Dempsey (praying)

I hope we make a move for him as well. I posted about him a few months ago and got disagreed to infinity. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

21 Jul 2012 01:04:26
I hope we don't sell Suarez and certainly not for 28 Mil. We paid 22.8 for him, he's plenty of time on his contract and he has the ability to change games which we are a little short on at the moment. His goalscoring figures could be better but I think we will see a many more goals from him under BR.

Maz

Totally agree, Van Persie is being touted at 30 mil with 1 year left so Suarez with the remainder of his contract is surely worth more. Lets be honest he is as good a forward, Its just RVP had a good season last year.

21 Jul 2012 00:38:44
I'm sick of so many ballbag supporters on this site! Joe Allen can not play the way he plays in a Stuart Pearce team, no more than Andy Carroll can play in a Brendon Rogers team. RVP was the best striker in Europe last season, but did sweet FA in the Euros. He must be gash! Get a grip, you muppets!

Have to ask eds, and hope, do we have any interest in any of the Brazil team on show tonight? Such class players each of them. Such a gulf in class with the gb team. Jayo {Ed001's Note - not that I know of, most of them won't get a permit anyway. Those that can will cost ludicrous amounts of money for players that aren't as good as you seem to think. I could put my daughter's school team against a team managed by Pearce and they would look like geniuses!}

21 Jul 2012 00:28:10
this page is going to get ugly in the next couple of day :( with all the Suarez talk if only people just listed to what the eds were saying for months people would be less surprised and more prepared and ready to move on *Sigh*

Id rather listen to the manager before anyone else his view on things is rather different

I feel sorry for the eds. They are going to cop it if Luis leaves, because it's obviously their fault!

21 Jul 2012 00:28:10
I really hope fans' suspicions of Suarez opening up the Evra saga as a way of ensuring a move away are unfounded. As contraversial as he's been, I really do think playing alongside the likes of Borini will bring out the best in him. I might be being biased as I hate Juventus more than Barcelona and so would loathe him moving there, but I really think Suarez could quickly become a legend at Anfield if he stays. Here's hoping BR's philosophy is enough to keep him settled.

21 Jul 2012 00:24:13
I think we shouLd build our team around Jay Spearing and sell Stevie G.....we all love our club legend ... But Jay is the future now.

just wanted to know what you all thought of the possible signing of Allen ? Personally i am livid that once again we are (Supposebly) paying too much for a player.... i mean 15mil for joe allen is outrageous! Hes a good player but we are getting to the point where we being hung out to dry by other teams .....Best we can do in my opinion is to offload adam, downing and ...wait for it ,personally i like carroll but if we can get 18-20mil for him id drive him to the buyer myself use the money to buy a striker who can play with the ball and not just head and be physical !

Today what I noticed why Joe Allen is on rodgers s list...many might not agree but he is not ball hungry like other English players nd just simply passes ball which if you know football doesn't give opposition players chance to settle nd Spain does same..only problem today for Joe was others around him were not in same mode nd didnt sync well..another thing is he was always moving creating spaces for others...I would say he is very intelligent player nd because his name is not Joe alanso or Joe allinesta some fans do.nt want him....

Dont shoot the player just the coach better penalty taker than coach

Well guys that seemed an anti-climax to see allen play. he played well but seemed to be in more than one position to cover others! it shows that team GB need more time to gel. so good luck guys! but to that thought, im not saying he will suddenly shine at lfc(i wish he would) but lfc already know each others game and therefore will make allen comfortable to play his game!
same goes to any new boy that signs regardless to how everbody rates them. if players dont gel, they'll never play good football! remember, were lfc, the best! chins up and keep smiling because no matter who signs, once that liverbird is upon their chest, you'll back em!

Just seen the BBC website say again that Juventus are interested in Saurez and Van Persie - Juventus have never paid more than 17 million for any player, they are trying it on and no way could they put together a realistic offer for either player.

John B

I don't get it with Juventus. Why would anyone want to play for a club which at any moment could be thrown out of the league, cup, Italy as they clearly struggle to stay within the laws of society! Anyone who goes there could end up tarnished as well (rightly or wrongly).

Er Buffon and nedved cost considerably more than 17 mil.

Didnt they pay over 20 million for Buffon!

Lyndon

£34 million for buffon

Other team that bid for Allen was West Ham Utd. Charlie Adam could be used as a make-weight in Dempsey deal.
We need 6 midfielders, 3 starting & 3 as cover. My guess is Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Shelvey, Allen & ?? - Aqualani, Spearing, Adam could all be sold but if I had to pick one on ability, it'd be Aqualani.

Gav the Red

We need more than 6 midfielders, what if someone gets injured?

Then we have our youngsters that can step up!

This site makes me wonder, I wonder how I can be associated with so many clowns that call themselves Liverpool supporters, it really makes me sad and mad for that matter to know such cretins support an institution such as Liverpool football club, now on to joe allen, all those people who have sent in posts judging him after one game for GB, what is wrong with you people, it's one game, a game for a new team, a team that has had what 1 week to prepare, so lay off the guy, if he signs then he will be supported by myself and other decent true reds, as with every other player that puts on the red shirt. and on another note stop abusing the eds, they are here to provide us with a service, a service that should always be appreciated.

Support the team

Very ashamed big red g

I watched Joe Allen the other day climb a staircase and he tripped over the 3rd step! Now I've never watched him play a game, but clearly he has no ability to control his feet! Defo not worth £15M!

I feel exactly the same mate its so frustrating looking at this page sometimes i just cant get my head round to understanding their opinions as much as i try
Ruben

Well said mate. If Allen came in tomorrow I'd give him 100% backing, the same way I will with Borini. LFC is built on the principles of the fans being overwhelmingly passionate and supportive of their club. That idealism should not stop now.

I support the team. It is a team that last time I looked did not include the Swansea player Joe Allen.

Look at big red g, sitting on his cloud of judgement, handing down life lessons to all the sinners.

Coley {Ed016's Note - Can we not turn this into an argument. Simple fact is some people are glass half empty, some are glass half full}

Most people know what they are talking about but a few do not , good lfc fans support the team but we know good players and we know average players and we want the good . red mick tag

Hey fello reds,
just a sleight anti-climax after watching joe allen tonight! he played well but seemed to be in more than one place as it clearly showed team GB hasnt had much time to gel. singley they are all great players but together, they need work. good luck guys at the olympics! to that thought, im not saying that allen will suddenly be a star at lfc but i do think that with lfc already gelled and allen knows rodgers well, our boys will make allen comfortable to play his game! dempsey to sign also and who ever BR signs too will always be welcome in my books once the liverbird is placed on their chest! remember, were lfc fans, the best! were on the up now so chins up and keep smiling! :-)

All great players - you are having a laugh, all maybe steady, average players maybe, but nothing else.

Eds do you think the appointment of Mr Rodgers had everything to do with a progressive use of pass and move play that can be implemented from the academy upwards.
I mean the idea is fascinating and if true shows that finally we have owners who are really playing it smart and will obviously be saying lets give the youngsters some chance and see what we can produce.
I dont just see this as a good thing just for Liverpool but for international as well and if and once we become known as a team that gives youth a chance the better youngsters we will attract which will filter through to the first team once those youngsters become class.
Does this excite you as well like finally we are about to try something new and its not like we have to wait its all there just waiting for someone.

Top class academy-produces top class well coached youngsters.

Top class youngsters produce a top class reserves and filter into first team.

Top class reserves blooded into a first team until they are the majority and the cycle will keep on going producing a Team that has played together since they started.

Like yourselves personally Borrello was a good choice for me but maybe the higher ups are going to give him the credit he deserves and acknowledgement something Barcelona lacked.

Kopping a feel {Ed001's Note - it had everything to do with that mate, they want to follow the blueprint laid out in the past by Shanks, now being implemented by Barca. Every level at the club will play the same way, so that the reserves or kids can walk into any other team and slot in without issue.}

Yes I think that's exactly why they brought Rodgers in mate, It will take time but at long last I do feel as though the clubs got direction. I'm on the fence regarding the owners still but I'm convinced Rodgers is the right man to take us forward.

Great goal by Armin Hodzic for the Reserves against USA under 20's, but he doesn't feature in our Reserves player list. Is he on trial, under-age or what. Looks class !

I am very upset my team, Brasil only beat the donkeys 2-0.
It should be 9-0 considering the opposition. Apart from old men Giggs and Bellamy I do not know them. Why is futobal in Olympics?
English manager look kinda stupid guy.

just wondering if we were due any compo from chelsea now that dave whelan is joined them as press secretary !! god he likes the spotlight , the old fool!

Agree with the "spotlight" jibe. Remember all the drivel he came out with about Martinez when LFC were looking for a new manager.
