{Ed022's note - new player profile on Javi Martinez of Athletic Bilbao. I know Ed001 is extremely fond of him. Been linked with both Manchester clubs and Liverpool. www.player-profiles.co.uk - thanks all.}

Nice job on the site.
Good write up on Isla. Heck of a shame about his injury as he would have been a quality addition. I read that after acl surgery recovery times are 6-9 months so I'm guessing that would make a summer move unlikely. All the same great player though, no the quickest but fantastic awareness and intelligence and has the ability to put killer crosses into the box.
Look forward to seeing a profile on Kevin Strootman. This is a player I would love us to go for. Ideally built for the premier league, big, strong in the tackle, great vision and range of passing, has an eye for goal too. Could play in a variety of midfield roles for us. Personally I think his value will be through the roof in a couple of years but could probably had for a reasonable price now.

The Liver Bird

Eds, is there not a quick link to the player profiles site on here? Or am I blind?

cozinoz {Ed001's Note - it's not been put up yet, we were just going to wait until there were a few more profiles up first.}

No worries, thanks Ed

cozinoz {Ed001's Note - you're welcome mate, don't want to have poor Ed022 swamped with requests before he has even had time to set up his new Liverpool desktop calender properly. He already has a list as long as this webpage.}

Meireles has taken an absolute hammering on the CFC banter page, one suggesting he should never pull on a CFC jersey again. So will all LFC fans who said his sale was an absolute disgrace please stand up now. My point being, credit where credit is due, it was the correct thing to do.

dd

It's not just Raul Meireles, so is Yossi and F.Torres, Some of them are blaming US for selling them these players, what a bunch of muppets! - TMac

Meireles played unbelievably good for us in the bit part role he was placed. Maybe just maybe, players that leave our club for so called greener pastures, have made a huge mistake ... :)

One chav posted how one of the goals was Meireles's fault for pulling out of a challenge. How many Liverpool fans could have predicted THAT one?

cozinoz

Yep, never the bravest player but a good player in a position where we needed good back up as an alternative to the injured gerrard. not the loss everyone seems to think it is.

Its a shame Liverpool fans have to besmirch former players to get satisfaction

Raul was good for us (although I was not unhappy with his sale) maybe its not Raul's fault he playing badly but AVB's fault?

Now only if he could sell Hendo, Andy and Suarez to chelsea and buy better in the summer.

Just a thought, but isn't playing an attacking midfielder as a defensive midfielder (Meiriles) a bad idea? It took 3 seasons to convert Lucas and he was a youngster when we signed him. Sorry he went, but he wanted too much money.

21 Feb 2012 22:39:22
Hi Eds, quick question, do you know how much money we would get from winning the Carling cup and getting top 4? {Ed001's Note - depends on how much you have put on at the bookies and the odds you got. We did agree to split your winnings right?}

Haha, I didn't explain my point properly, I meant how much money would the club get from winning the carling cup, then coming top 4? {Ed001's Note - sorry I meant to add on the end that I don't know how much the club would get. The prize money is listed on the sites for the comps, I did have the links in my favourites at the start of the season, for just such a question, but I have had to reformat recently and lost it. I will have a dig about for you when I get some spare time and see if I can find the link as well as the amounts.}

Winners of the carling cup get 100,000

Winner gets 100,00 and runner up gets 50,000 for league cup

fa cup- winner gets 1,800,000 and runner up gets 900,000

Hopefully people will stop slagging off italian football now, i've heard the "yeh they look good in italy, but i doubt they could cut it in england" rant too many times now.

Red7.

It was only Chelsea though

cozinoz

And Arsenal.

And arsenal. although, point taken. neither are a good barometer of a decent epl team.

21 Feb 2012 22:22:05
Hi Eds, I know that Liverpool's players aren't all good looking, but surely Cavani is just too ugly to be considered for the red shirt. Especially when he pulls his celebratory face... LOL {Ed001's Note - ah but pulling on that shirt will increase his attractiveness a hundredfold!}

If Dirk Kuyt looks good in a red shirt mate, then surely Cavani would. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Its true Jamie Redknapp was in fact Luke Chadwick, before he signed for Liverpool.

Has anyone else really enjoyed watching Champions League this year. -McMenemy

I thought the Chelski game, was a great game to watch tonight, McMenemy mate. But the only games I like watching are the Barca ones. Watched them beat Valencia 5-1 on Sunday mate and Messi, got 4. I've never seen a player like him , he's the best ever imo and not even in his prime yet.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Yes! I have enjoyed watching our rivals suck! :P. But seriously, I always keep an eye out for players in the so called lesser leagues and players who we have been rumoured to be of interests with.

Ag

Interested to see how the Bayern vs Basle game goes, I will be cheering on the underdog.
Box of chocolates in hand, eyeing the fine 'Munchen' lager in the fridge for after.
Food for thought.

Messi, got 4. I've never seen a player like him , he's the best ever imo and not even in his prime yet.

One can only conclude you never seen Maradonna

Have seen Maradona mate, Messi is better imo.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Maradonna has nothing on Messi ive seen the so called greats Zidane, Pele and Fowler and Messi is by far the most technically gifted player ever to grace this planet!! Just a shame he'll be finished by the time he's 28 due to the growth injections he was given at Barca!!

Runcorn Red!

When he's won the World Cup (almost) single handed perhaps Messi can be classed as good or better than Maradonna...

If Chelsea and Arsenal get knocked out, Will that mean that the Premier League lose a champions league spot?

RedMachine

Not this year but if all 4 teams out this time next year it might gappen
Wozza

Not for only one or 2 bad years!!

Not for next season. According to the UEFA coefficient the top three ranked countries are allowed four clubs in the ECL and the next three three each. At the moment England has 82.035 points,Spain 75.471 and Germany 71.186. The fourth country is Italy with 58.552. This is a particularly poor season for English clubs and there will have to be some improvement over the next couple of seasons if we are to keep our four places. If you want any more information you can look up UEFA coefficient and this will give you all the information you need. Hopefully it won't be too long before Liverpool are qualifying as champions.

One lad i hope liverpool look at in the summer to add to are squad, GONZALO BUENO (national montevideo)

App. 9
Goals. 4
Ass. 3

Not bad for a 19 year old thats not been in the first team for long. I believe liverpool have some sort of deal with national that they have first refusal on any up and coming talent.

ACHILLES.

Umm....not exactly devastating statistics, Achilles, unless he's a defender?

21 Feb 2012 21:57:02
Hi eds just a general question. Why is it that clubs buy players and then immediately send them back on loan like for example Chelsea and de bruyn? Thanks {Ed001's Note - normally to get a deal done which would otherwise be put off and allow someone else to nip in during the next window.}

Thanks for the reply Ed {Ed001's Note - you are very welcome mate.}

21 Feb 2012 21:55:13
Everyone always says how it is unreliable buying players from the Italian league. If this was true then why are the Italian clubs hammering the English clubs

One of games in europe area lot different to playing wk in wk out in the premier league

21 Feb 2012 21:47:18
Chelsea now haven't won in 5. Their defence is a complete joke and terry is out for 8 weeks.
Arsenal low on confidence, depth and leadership. And we get to play them both at Anfield.
When we win the cup on Sunday, we will be the team heading into the last part of the season with momentum and confidence. Lots of people saying top 4 is unlikely. Personally, I think we're just about favourites at the moment.

Got a feeling top 3 will stay as it is,and newc will get 4th

21 Feb 2012 21:41:37
Forget Cavani! A front three of Luis, Big Andy and Lavezzi would get me seriously going! Come on Kenny and Damien, 22 mill and make Napoli sell..
The Gooch

Truth be told, I have my doubts. Lavezzi can be a great player, but he is inconsistent, and can miss clear chances (and score amazing goals, true) - no different than suarez in that aspect. He would e great.. if we had a natural scorer, that is able to convert 2 goals from a chance.

Drigan

I agree drigan.

Ozone

Honestly i'd like to see a front three of Suarez Andy and Bellamy, that could be devastating i think. With spearing Steven and Adam in behind. Might be worth a crack for one match. Any thoughts?
KiwiRed

Andy carroll! :p

What is all this with mentioning Spearing? He is NOT UP TO STANDARD ! Cant you all see that - he is a lower mid table team or championship player at best - please get a class defensive mid if we want to get to the top - LUCAS AND ":?

Forget Lucas too

21 Feb 2012 21:40:17
Ed or posters?

Is wrong to feel slightly miffed with the current ownership?
Any perspective buyer was surely aware that a new stadium was an important part of the recovery process and should surely factored that into their package. I feel that FSG have got LFC at a good price, thanks for clearing the debt but there has not been massive investment and the stadium seems to be stuck in limbo. I have a nagging doubt that with the way football finance is going that FSG simply dont have the clout to put Liverpool back to the very top. Hope im wrong but they said judge us by our actions.....

The thing is apart from Arsenal who just don't seem to spend everyones club needs to be able to sustain growth, it would be tragic if for arguements sake Liverpool did a Rangers
Its understandable the club is cautious plus ofc they spent a s**t ton last summer and previous window

Is it wrong to still be over the moon that the old owners are gone....

I do know what you mean tho. I will feel alot better if solid plans are laid down at least. I'd rather expand Anfield but that being difficult, I'm sure our passion would still show where-ever we sit. Unlike a certain London club...

PDUK

I do believe investing in a stadium would take a considerable amount of time. It's an infrastructural project, and planning it can take no less than several years. I also would like the club to progress fast and to shorten the gap from let's say Arsenal in financial apsect, but the crucial moment is that it has to be done THOROUGHLY.
Trust in the current owners mate, if they want to invest they will do it as it should be done, and if they don't... well, we can't force their hand you know.

Drigan

I'm guessing you would like an Oil rich Arab/Russian to buy us and chuck what ever money at it and if a players has 3 bad games in a row you'd sell him.....

Your debt hasn't been cleared, not sure how much it is but i am sure Liverpool are in debt to the tune of £200 million or thereabouts.

Given the amount of money it costs to build a stadium and make other "big statements", i doubt there are many businessmen in the world that would spend that kind of money just for the hell of it. I'd say they're just doing their homework and working out if it's the right road to go down, give them a bit of time yeh.
To add, you don't have to have City's money to compete, we'll just have to be patient, and don't anybody use the "i've been patient for 20 odd years" statement, because that wasn't rebuilding, that was surviving, so now that we have decent owners and a clear goal of rebuilding the club, i think it's time to wait and see what happens before worrying too much.

Red7.

Not sure which muppet typed we are still in debt to the tune of 200m, but you are wrong fella. Our debt was wiped out when John Henry took over and settled with RBS. He basically bought the club off them. We might have like 20 million debt, but nothing compared to the other premier league clubs and in fact less than Arsenal.

21 Feb 2012 21:35:02
the champions league is missing liverpool, every other english team is a joke

Yeah,of course england misses you..NOT!

21 Feb 2012 21:21:57
i think the CAVANI- LAVEZZI partnership can be formed with SUAREZ and CARROLL.
cavani has plaenty of similarities to carroll and the same with suarez and lavezzi

I think they'd actually play very different styles...Cavani is an off the shoulder out and out striker with bags of movement and pace. With Carroll's physicality and Suarez's vision, they'd be the best compliment of strikers in England and certainly one of the best in Europe. It's very wishful thinking though so I wouldn't hold my breath, but dreaming is what keeps us going so why not
NextGenRed

I can see the similarities between Suarez and Lavezzi but Carroll and Cavani are very different players. Carroll is more limited and he needs good service from others. Cavani can create things on his own and just a much better player now and also will be in the future.

Don't want to knock Carroll since he has been playing well but the only comparison between the two is that they are tall.

GuvTOB

Suarez and carroll proven just vs brington...but lavezzi and cavani proven at higher level.

Cavani is a GENIUS. A once in a generation God of a Striker. He is a crazy mix between Zidane and Batistuta. Scary.

Andy is Big Andy.

Good lord. What are you smoking...

21 Feb 2012 21:09:05
We dodged a bullet with Cahill looks out of his depth.

A midfield getting cut to ribbons and a pretty hopeless centre half partner, it's not all his fault, i still think he'll come good eventually, just not at chelsea with the squad they have. They bought him as their saviour and not to develop, Roman A. doesn't have that kind of patience.

Red7.

Anyone remember bolton?

Glass houses stones and that sort of thing!

21 Feb 2012 21:06:01
Ed,

This is not a rumour but rather a question... But please post in rumours none the less.

When Rafa was at pool, was he solely responsible for transfers? Many people are making him out to be the best thing ever coz he wanted to sign silva so out of interest sake, was it only rafa or was anyone else involved, like now, when DC is responsible for the signings, especially youngsters coming in.

Looking forward to a response. {Ed002's Note - Benitez pretty much took control of the process - but not always the funding.}

21 Feb 2012 20:36:13
Just watching the Chavski match and I have to say, as good as his goals were, Raul was/is no great loss.

As a central midfield player his defensive qualities are suspect to say the least. Yes I know CM bring different strength's to every team but I do think being able to at least put in a tackle or at least look like they have does help when playing in that position.

His defending for that first goal was a disgrace, at least CA will put a tackle in! - TMac

Raul has been very poor, no loss.

I would rather see Adam give away a foul but try to tackle than see Meireles jump out -McMenemy

No worse than Luiz and Cahill though - those two look like an accident waiting to happen.

Think I would rather take Torben Piechnic and Istvan Kozma over either of those!

JRG

21 Feb 2012 20:35:26
And now we wait for the "class" cavani! How can we afford not to sign him we'll be asking...

21 Feb 2012 20:33:26
watching the napoli vs chavski game , LAVEZZI is looking great. i think Cavani getss all the credits but Lavezzi's contribution is great and Cavani just scored

He looks great tonight...
I had a little say on this the other day, yes he's very involved today, but it's the most committed performance he's had this season as far as i've seen. A respectable scout or a manager that knows what he's doing won't make a move for a player until they see a little more than talent on the ball, they have to be convinced the lad will grow some consistency and heart some day and not go missing.

Red7.

Watching Napoli vs chelsea..Lavezzi is fantastic. Similar to Suarez, but won't mind having two of them. Cavani..Carroll can be better i think.

Cavani proven world class player..carrol just score against team under divisyen...

Media stoking up the Suarez issue again, by claiming he is attending the Manutd-Ajax return fixture.

KNEE JERK

Seen something in the paper about that yesterday.
At the end of the day he's going to watch his old team mates.
They make it sound like he's going to pies united off.

LAVERS

I think well done to him, to go and see his old team play. It goes to show he is grateful for what Ajax did for him. It's one of the reasons people love Alonso so much, because he continues to have loyalty and a love for Liverpool. It shows he is no mercenary, in a profession that has far too many mercenaries. I also thinks it shows he has got some balls to go to old toilet to watch Ajax - I wonder where he'll be sitting?! Fair play to the lad. Nick.

Agree with above posts, but Oliver Holt and the like will rubbing there hands and licking there lips with glee. And will no doubt whip up a storm, in what * fingers crossed* will be a good couple of weeks for us.

KNEE JERK

I hope he watches the Ajax vs Liverpool NextGen game if he is free!

An open letter placed on the website of the National Black Police Association read:

"Liverpool FC's actions, in vehemently rejecting the findings of the FA inquiry, their public displays of support for a player found guilty of racist abuse and his subsequent refusal to shake the hand of Evra at a recent game is completely unacceptable.

"These actions we believe could be considered as inciting racial intolerance.

"Whilst the subsequent apologies for the failure to engage with the traditions of a pre-game handshake are to be welcomed, there remains deep concern about LFC's absolute refusal to accept the findings of the FA's investigation.

"As such these apologies fail to meet the test of genuine remorse and understanding. This is further negated by LFC's failure to apologise for racism either through the club or Suarez.

"Neither have LFC recognised or acknowledged the consequent damage to race relations resulting from their actions and recognised by many people of all races across the country. As a result efforts to combat racism in football and the wider society in general have been critically undermined.

"Compounding these serious errors is the failures of Liverpool's civic leaders, many of whom have remained silent on these critical issues and have failed to publicly condemn LFC's decision not to robustly and effectively challenge racism."

The letter is signed by members of the Liverpool Black Leadership Forum, Merseyside TUC, North West United Against Facism, the Society of Black Lawyers and the NBPA, among others.

And the piont is
soul man

So what. My guess is that they did not read the full FA report. Had they done so they would not have made such a naive statement. The race card is becoming common in this broken society and this will only seek to break it further. We all need to move on now and not have chips on our shoulders.

There is no place in society for Racism, But this whole subject has become so tedious. It is about time it was put to bed and people so talking about it, and move on. Ross

Beats me why they have taken so long. This was fronted by a woman on TV last night, obviously, in my opinion, another party attempting to gain their "15 minutes" of fame.

Again, and this is my opinion, if this includes Society of Black Lawyers then they should fully understand that the report, and I quote from the report below, confirmed their belief that Luis is a)not a racist
b) or acted out of racial prejudice.

I think people in their position should consider claiming Luis or the club are responsible for failing to combat racism in the wider society are way of the mark - TMac

"The FA also stated, however, that it was not accusing Suarez of being a racist, and Evra had testified that he did not believe Suarez was a racist"

The FA, who brought the case against Suarez, also stated in the argument that they did not contend that Suarez had acted out of 'deep-seated racial prejudice.

They are all probably Members of the Friends of Fergie as well. I'm sure they didn't read the report if they signed that letter, probably got their info from the daily fail, I'm sure. Again, the product of poor reporting and biased media. I would have hoped that some of that lot would be a bit more intelligent. Nick.

Suarez served an 8 match ban - isn't that accepting the findings of the FA? Get off the media bandwagon and go and complain about real racism issues - this is done.

LIVERPRES

I am black and also a staunch Red! Now all this is getting out of hand now! as another poster put 15 minute's of fame! heard nothing to the same effect concerning John Terry which you can clearly see him using racist comment's! and as another poster put they took their time! Rapper's use the N word all the time and i bet these people who released these statement's listen to the same rapper's all the time! Unbelievable!

Tell em to feck off, isnt the ass of black police officers racist byname alone,i dont see any ass of white police officers,

Editors, using your esteemed knowledge, what is the plan for Nathan Eccleston? I know he had his number removed when Bellaz joined and he appeared to sign his own Liverpool Career Death Certificate when he tweeted about 9/11 but his form for the Reserves since then has been very impressive. Is he still likely to be moved on in the summer or has he redeemed himself?

I still dont know why people bother doing all this when A. the summer is way off and B. No one knows who we'll sign and just yet and especially when it'll mostly come down to if we finish in champs league or not.

Hey eds, just wondering for Liverpool to sign a striker in the summer would suarez have to leave before we sign one or do you think we can have suarez Carroll and then another striker in the same team? {Ed002's Note - You need to wait until the summer to see what will happen.}

I'd say a lot would depend on how saurez and Carroll do for the rest of the season.

We need to.put chances away , don't think what has happened this year can carry on to next season.

Ed i think it's about time Carroll has started to prove his price tag, Henderson hasn't done it for me yet. Jose has been ok but I think downing has to be the pick of the ones that have come in so far. What are your thought? Will they ever meet their value in money with performance?

You are on a wind up right? Downing has been the pick? Wow I really don't see you getting many "agrees" with that statement.
I like Downing but he's been poor so far this season (apart from the last game) obvious to me that Enrique has easily been the best so far
Henderson I think has something about him and I'm sure he'll prove to be a good signing
As for Carroll it's no secret I'm not a fan but recent performances have been good

Chris in Tamworth

Enrique has been one of our top three players all season long, yet he's been okay? Henderson is 20, give him time, and Downing is suffering from a lack of confidence, but he played better against Brighton and should improve from there.

McSnuggles

You think Downing has been the best out of Carrol, Hendo and Jose. Do you actually watch Lfc??

MJ

Why should they need to 'prove their price-tags' - thats just ridiculous. They should just be trying their hardest each and every game regardless of their transfer fees.

cozinoz

You should probably watch the occasional game before posting.

Opening post has got to be from a manc or bluenose.

For anyone living outside the Uk this weekend wanting to watch the match, I reccommend as always live scorhunter and wiziwig, as this is on bbc though, I strongly reccommend http://myiplayer.com/home.php, all you have to do is download expat shield and watch all UK channels from anywhere in the world, including sky sports so anyone in the uk that doesn't have skysports can also watch Liverpool matches on this when we are on sky instead of paying the robbing b*stards. It also comes up if you type hackedcabletv.com in the main bar.

As a Liverpool and Cardiff supporter since the last 30 years, I am at a loss for this weekend. Hoping for an entertaining match but got a feeling won't beable to watch a lot. lol. Hope everyone enjoys.

hi eds. first things first, suarez aint going anywhere at the end of the season!! he will stay as he knows how much support liverpool have provided him.
secondly, i personally think all we need is a decent left wnger that can whip the ball in for carroll because clearly downing cant do it. i also think we really are in need of another right winger aswell, someone with pace preferably and we most certainly do need a striker but whether it would be a world class striker or back up striker i dont no because carroll is getting better and if suarez stays aint no way hes being dropped :l by the way anyopne that mentions us buying a central midfielder, actually look at how many weve got already :) what are your thoughts ed? :)

I think if we were to look at a midfielder it would only be a defensive one.
Your rite we do have plenty.
But we do have coady who shouldn't be to far off stepping up.

LAVERS

Why would we look for a defensive midfielder when we have Lucas?

Red Ollie

Just cover for Lucas , just in case we have the same scenario as this season.

I just hope our players turn up on Sunday with the right attitude, not like against Bolton, or we will end up losing much to the laughter coming from the neutral, utd, Chavski and toffee fans. Cardiff are not a bad team and can be quite useful given the opportunity. I don't really want a League Cup like 2001 with penalties etc after our players underestimated our opponents.

Lets not get too carried away with Andy Carroll - he only scored against Brighton!

Give him a break will ya its not just Brighton hes been playing well for us a while now and giving his all so lay off.
k-h

I'm begining to think many people sh*t talk their own players so much it becomes hard for them to make say anything positive. You see it down the pub all the time, seems no different here. Lucas was a prime example. It seams they have to be completely faultless for an entire season to win these people over or even get a positive word out of them.....Moral of the story: Back your players to improve and save face!

PDUK

It's not just his goal it's his overall performances over the last few games that everyone has been happy about. His work rate, effort and movement has improved immensely.

He has also won MOTM on the official Liverpool website twice from his last three starts.

I think in the last month he has looked more mobile and motivated. If the Ref had (and I know it's if this if that) the penalties he deserved from being manhandled/blocked in the box then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Also although he's being blocked etc.. he's not getting yellow cards for retailation.

Finally Brighton were on the break against us on Sunday and it was AC that run back and made the tackle. This wasn't happening 2 months ago.

Should he be scoring more then possibly but if he keeps improving like he has done over the last month then I thinkwe will have a player that is a real asset to the team.

Hoola

I was gutted when he didnt start against utd Ferdinand evans and de gea are terrified of him as were brighton he had a hand in 3 of the goals 1 of them just by his presence. He's starting to become the player we saw at newcastle and I think over the rest of the season he can only get stronger. I think if he carries on next season he will be a monster.
Carlos79

You can imagine the fans? on here who slag Downing Carroll etc.. Being exactly the same on a sunday morning with their own kids..... Their self esteem must Must Rocket when they hear them on the touchline??

The difference between now and when we signed Carroll are massive.

Back then, our team didn't know how to play with him leading the line. Now, instead of just booting the ball from defence up top, we play our normal game, and utilise his strengths in the last third.

He could have easily scored an extra 6 or 7 golas this season, and probably should have. What I am saying if had he taken all chances, which no goalscorer does, then he wouldn't be slated.

All attackers miss great chances and score harder ones, it's the nature of the game. What I will say is his team work and hold up play has improved massively so when the goals start flowing, which they deffo will, we will have the strike partnership we been dreaming for over a year backed up by our leader and captain, Stevie G.

Prediction for Sunday: 3-1 Liverpool. Carrol, Suarez and gerrard to score (or possibly 3 Cardiff own goals pmsl)

Stay safe

LFC Till I Die

I luv the way carroll always starts shouting at the ref when a decision doesnt go his way. You can see him saying f@#* off to the ref. shows his attitude has changed significantly cos hes mor determined now.

Lucas is not perfect he' still slow and his passing leaves a lot to be desired added to that he don't score any goals.

Now Roy Keane he was as near to perfect DM you can get!

Is the roy legbreaker post a wind up to try to collect a record number of disagrees? Please don't come onto this site to praise a nasty manc person like keane.

Stop having a go at Lucas, he's bound to be slow, he's still on crutches.....

Sooty

Redturk not signing off posts anymore?

LIVERPRES

Lucas is not fit to lace Roy's boots.

He's still great though.

BJH YNWA.

Keane is not a nasty Manc person the boy is from Cork in the south of Ireland.

I doubt he likes anyone even hmself he's gone on rants about Utd. supporters many times.

The fact is he was the perfect DM and even thogh I don't like keane and can respect his ability as a footballer, try it, it won't hurt I promise.

Keane was quick, score goals, born leader and always up for it, not exactly what you could say about many of our players with the exception of Gerrard.

As for leg breaker yes, but then so was Larry, Tommy, Jimmy, Emylyn and many others who played for us and they were all great too.

When things went well under Rafa there was a lot of talk about a so called worldwide players database that was collated by him and his scouting staff. Bar a couple of big money flops and all managers have them, I feel Rafa's record stood strong Xabi, Agger, Sktrel, Pepe, Torres, Sissoko, Masch etc. I'm not including the numerous youth players in this. I was wondering if this system has evolved under DC or if this old system had been cleared out? I'm not sure if DC has ever been involved in securing the services of anyone in the class of Xabi, Torres, Pepe (bar Suarez). I think he was involved with Gareth Bale signing for Spurs but you may question how much work was carried out by one person in this instance, considering Spurs has an established scounting network in England.

I notice a lot of people complaining we are not being fairly treated by the media.
I wouldn't lose much sleep over it, the media does not score goals, assists or save penalties.
The media has no say in how our club is run.
Positive headlines do not bring in extra revenue.
We are being slagged off at every opportunity because we don't give them any information and rufuse to play their game.
The British press is a cancer slowly destroying British morals and spirit despite pretending to protect it. Spreading vile hate about anybody who has the balls to be different.
Well done to king kenny and LFC for not dancing to murdocks tune.
Can we really blame kenny for not liking the press after "the truth"??

Was just comparing Martin Skrtel and Daniel Aggers appearance figures for LFC.
Agger in his 7th season and 161 appearances in total.
Skrtel in his 5th season and 159 apperances in total.
Interesting enough, Agger is 3 days older than Skrtel, both born in 1984 (12th and 15 December).
Talk about a close centre half pairing, he, he, they are almost twins.
Both 27, and 28 in Dec.
Food for thought.

I've always thought that they would make the ideal partneship in central defence. Previously I'd suggested that JC's time in the first team was coming to a close - perhaps event two seasons before this, but at that time DA was on and off the treatment table like nobody's business.

Sorry that JC's is now filling in but chuffed to bits that the partnership has had time to bed in and in my mind flourish to become one of the best in the EPL - if not the best. Very much supported by Jose Enrique I have to say. No wonder that there has been interest from other leading clubs, why wouldn't there be.

At the ages they are there are a good 2 / 3 seasons in them working together and having Seb Coates in the squad able to very capably fill in. Follow this with Kelly continuing to develop into a versatile defender and Flanagan (while still green) we have a structured and solid back line, not impervious, but with Reina between the sticks that's a hell of a solid defence.

JC! legend, learn your trade through the ranks and help us to more euro glory in the years to come...

Glen J, would love to see you play a more advanced role, and stomach the hassle of not ticking every box on your contract you've got what we need you to deliver, re-negotiate your terms without the clause and you'll be a happier more productive player...

Can't get to the match on Sunday - wish I could sooo envious of those who can; but will be resplendent in beer fuelled celebrations come Sunday!!

Think if we are within 3 or 4 points of 4th place going into the last 10 games it will be close but we might just do it.
I know we have to take one game at time, but it's so important for us to get that top 4 finish you can't help looking at the fixtures. It's just great to still be in with a chance of achieving our pre-season goal of qualifying for the CL. Cup final buid up week, everyone excited, going well in the Fa cup, the Feel Good Factor is well and truly back at LFC. I have a couple of grand kids that can't wait for Sunday. :)

hi my name is ben im 12 my favourite team for liverpool is reina in goal kelly right back agger and skrtyl center backs enrique left back and then in midfeald downing on the right gerrard and lucas in center mid and bellamy on the left and carroll and suarez upfront
my favourite player is gerrard i met him last year and he gave a football signed by the team
i think we should sign my other favourite player van persie or aguero and for everton my favourite player is baines but i dont like everton just baines and sometimes cahill hope we win the carling cup 2-0 and gerrard scores
thankyou

I very much like your team Ben, but I think Enrique is better than Baines! ;)

The Booter

Haha, I remember being this optimistic at 12! I used to sign all the best strikers in the world and play them in a 4-4-2 formation on fifa!

Baines isn't as good as enrique and Van Persie and Aguero cost too much.

I like your team though mate!

Great team that Ben, van persie would be a great addition. We would certainly challenge for the title next year if we managed to get him.

Ahh dedums Dutchmal-ubber sensitive lad.

How can we reply to these idiots who have neither the decency or guts to put a name to their inane comments. In my opinion this site exists for banter over football but too many of the nameless ones come up with comments of a personal nature. There are a lot of constructive and interesting points made by fans but we have to wade through too much dross in order to find them. These constructive comments always have a signature of some sort as well. By the way, idiot, I am sure that the word you are thinking of is 'uber' which is fact a German word and the language used in the Netherlands and in parts of Belgium is Dutch. I do have a nice word for you though and it is 'K......K'. I wouldn't post the English word so I'll not write the Dutch one either - but I hope you get my drift.

Are you driving? Tube/train? If so, best best for a quiet one is to get off a couple of stops before Wembley. Otherwise main pubs are on high st. (as mentioned) but will be packed....

Richards

Way back when, we used to park up at Watford, have a bite to eat and a pint there and then get a train in to Wembley. Get a carry out from an offie and sit on the grass in the sun.
Mind you that was in Summertime and when drinking in public was allowed.
Try doing that next Sunday and you would :
a, get a dose of piles off the cold grass and
b, get thrown in the bizzy van for the day.
So I'm saving my alcoholic intake for after the match. Hopefully it'll be bubbly to celebrate !
The Real KB

I live in Wembley, I would suggest the Preston Pub, which is one stop from Wembley Park on the Metropolitan Line. Don't go near the High St as its a dump.
