I think he means "Is there any interest from Liverpool in Icardi of Inter? "

There were certainly articles in new media over the summer. I cannot remember what the Eds said about it at that time.

Can was a real problem in our last match no doubt, but he looked like a player who had spent a lot of time focusing on his own fitness and not on gelling with the team. Now he is fully fit he will catch up, he needs minutes.

One of my criticisms of Klopp so far is that he likes to keep the team so stable that even when we have games won he doesn't make changes. Hopefully he will now be learning how vital the entire squad being ready to go are and we will start seeing more of players like Can, Origi, Ings, Klavan etc even when they aren't 100% necessary to introduce.

20 Oct 2016 14:13:08
Can, Ings, Origi and grujic are players I want to see more of, and let's not forget the youngsters. We're in a good position if we have these type of players waiting.

20 Oct 2016 14:33:51
Why change a winning side? I like that half the squad is hungry and chomping at the bit to get in the team, while the first eleven know they have to maintain form and not make any errors or they could lose their place for a long time.

20 Oct 2016 15:41:23
Wijnaldum and Lallana would be playing against West Brom on Saturday. Can goes back to the bench.

20 Oct 2016 16:04:20
A bit harsh on Can who tho, not match fit and sharp for a game of this magnitude, gave his all and almost scored. Klopp had no choice but to play him and he shouldn`t be faulted for that. I do agree that when matches are won, he should give other players some game time but I`m sure he already knows that.

20 Oct 2016 17:10:52
Why change a winning side? To make sure that if people get injured, as they will, we have other players who aren't just fit but are also sharp. So we don't have a repeat of Monday night where basically an entire midfield have not played together in months and every pass is going to the wrong place. I'm not saying wholesale changes every match or even starting different players in games, just not waiting till the 75th minute to make subs - especially in games that are wrapped up.

20 Oct 2016 18:39:25
I can't recall it that well TBH but I don't remember too much chopping and changing in our '80s heyday. If a team is winning it should only be changed when there are injuries.

20 Oct 2016 18:52:35
All the experts are back telling us all where JK went wrong after a draw. It used to take a loss for that.

20 Oct 2016 22:20:48
Totally agree polecat. Don't know why we bother with klopp anyway, we've loads of genius managers on here who'd do twice the job he's doing.

20 Oct 2016 11:53:04
Manchester United parked the bus and earned a point
Manchester city played attacking football and got hammered by Barcelona
Whose the winner?

Believable5 Unbelievable13

20 Oct 2016 12:14:09
Which game was better game watch?
I'd rather entertain the fans and lose than play the turgid tripe that Manchester United played on Monday.

20 Oct 2016 12:16:25
Barcelona. Good riddle.

20 Oct 2016 12:23:49
The only winner in that scenario is Barcelona. Attacking football lost to better attacking football.

20 Oct 2016 12:46:05
Trsitan

In the end it will come down to what you won over the season. This is not a moie to entertain any set of people. Have you seen hw Diego Simeoni's team play footbal. Its worse than Jose.
The reality is we simply couldn't unlock another theam that sat deep And that is our problem.

20 Oct 2016 12:57:05
Your above post is true SCM and it is our problem. Has been now for a very long time.

However, your can't just compare the two situations. City where well in that game and had it not been for CoCo the clown in goal they certainly would not have got smashed.

20 Oct 2016 13:43:06
WASSA

I thought UTD were completely dominant in the first half as we couldn move out from our own half. I don't know y did they decide to step down in the secnd half. May be that's where Jose earned the point and Pep lost all three.

{Ed001's Note - you talk utter tripe at time Harry. United never dominated at all. Better side in the first half? Just about, but they were far from dominant. Two totally different games with no relevance at all to each other, pointless comparison to make.}

20 Oct 2016 13:47:11
Sorry, did I just hear that football isn't to entertain people and someone else agree?

What utter nonsense, if you aren't entertained by football why are you watching it at all? Of course it's meant to be entertainment!

20 Oct 2016 14:18:13
OK hold on utd was dominant? No they was not in any shape or form, we didn't do the best first half but come off it, your speaking out your backside sweet chin music as per usual.

20 Oct 2016 14:31:57
Dominance doesn't mean to have Infinite shots on target. They keps us at bay and did not allow us any sort of control. We did nothing in the first half an late in the second half for any chance.

20 Oct 2016 14:35:24
Turn the table on original question. Would you rather we had parked the bus against Chelsea, got the point required and won the league OR attack them all match, lose the game and costs us the league. Which would be more entertaining?

20 Oct 2016 15:42:23
Irish

I would do that a hundred times for a PL title. Don't know what people are saying about entertainment. Don't remember a side who has won the title in style.

20 Oct 2016 15:56:07
Ironically if we had parked the bus against chelsea and won the league that entire campaign would have still been remember for the way we blew teams away.

It's about doing what's right and what's needed in the moment to win. That's what Jose does and has proved it time and time again when he wins trophies.

Anyway we drew, we're in the top 4 and when I looked at the fixture list at the start of the season I'm happy with what has happened to this point as our start was particularly tough.

Onwards and Upwards!

20 Oct 2016 16:10:49
Sweet or Harry, if Utd were dominant, why did Karius not have a single save to make ALL NIGHT? If Utd were so dominant, why did they not create enough chances to score? In fact, they created none. So your post is either a whined up or one that is void of logic nor reason nor the understanding of the game. Neither team park the bus so comparing Pep or LE to Mou is just stupid and baseless. Both teams play attacking football as that is who they are and the better team won. It happens. Quit trying to make Mou or Utd look like geniuses because they weren`t and if they were, why are they 7th in the table with one win in five games? I have read about many Utd fans who are actually livid with Mou for playing that way so you prolly wanna stop defending what even they think is indefensible.

20 Oct 2016 16:33:43
One is in the champions league one is not.

Clear which style is most successful.

20 Oct 2016 16:12:46
Football's the winner :)

20 Oct 2016 16:59:52
Sweet Chin Music is Harry! I was wondering what his latest name was. Hi Harry :)

20 Oct 2016 17:23:33
Don't remember a year where a team won the title in style? The 2014/ 15 the winning team scored the second most goals. The year we won, City scored over 100 goals as well. The year before, United scored the most and won. Year before, City scored most and won. In none of these years were they the team with the best or even the second best defense winners. In fact, since the days of Chelsea and Mourinho's domination in the mid 2000s (almost 10 years ago if you're paying attention) the team capable of scoring most would win almost every year. I'll give you a clue to discussions when you try it - don't make up facts that are easy to research.

20 Oct 2016 17:58:35
why is he always changing his name? lol.

20 Oct 2016 18:58:06
United playing for a draw was only in the interest of Maureen, he knew the media were sharpening their pencils in anticipation of a hammering and he did not want that pressure building.
I think the media will get a chance to lash Maureen before the season is over he is no longer their darling.

20 Oct 2016 18:58:32
I would rather pay my money and see a crap one nil win than a 4-3 loss. as long as we win games and win trophies I don't really care how we do it. I just want to be successful.

20 Oct 2016 19:14:53
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, v Chelsea we might have tried to park the bus and still got beat, imagine what would have been said of Rodgers then for changing the way we played, We blew teams away that season and could well have done it to Chelsea as well. By the way not sticking up for Rodgers just trying to be realistic as opposed to being smart after the event.

21 Oct 2016 00:03:15
I actually happen to agree with you to an extent 18&5 and only for a certain slip we were looking quite comfortable in that game. We chased it in second half and got picked off on the break.

I'm not trying to be smart using hindsight but there was probably a bit of a naivety about thinking we'd just blow a considerable threat away. It's not as if Jose sprung a surprise that day parking the bus. It was common knowledge he would setup like that as he'd done it for years. His one and only goal for that day was to prevent Liverpool winning the league and he achieved it.

21 Oct 2016 05:21:45
Certain games may call for a manager to play for a draw. This game did not call for Morinho to play for a draw! If he went for a win, and won, he would have moved up the table, and could have even made the top 4. A draw left them at 7th. So a win was important.

21 Oct 2016 07:40:31
Andy

Not sure what top 4 has he lost after 8 games. Just like we got a draw against the mighty Spurs UTD secured a point away at Anfield. If anything we dropped two pointsat home against the side who we conside notgood enough.
Jose doesn't plan for a single game He plans for a season.

21 Oct 2016 19:54:27
So was him getting outplayed and smashed at Watford and City wiping the floor with him at OT part of the plan as well? Didn`t think so. Harry, the difference is that we play to win and it was our fault we did not beat Spurs as we missed chances that could/ should have buried them. Same with Chelsea and Arsenal away. We won because we went for it. There are different ways of getting a draw in football. You can play for the win and then get a draw like we did vs Spurs or you can park the bus like Mou does. That`s okay with me, really. If Mou doesn`t wanna go for the win first, it`s his decision. He will keep getting draws and those lost points start adding up and will become like losses (3 draws = 6 points dropped = 2 defeats) and I can assure you that many Utd fans are disgusted with his tactics as I`ve seen on youtube and on social media so not everyone thinks he`s a genius. We didn`t drop two points at Anfield because big games are the ones you NEVER wanna lose. You don`t have to win but you dare not lose. In the end, we have a great chance of leaving them further in the dust this weekend BUT we MUST beat the Baggies first, end of.

20 Oct 2016 11:05:31
Just watched the Liverpool and united game again. Yeah we played terrible, mostly due to own poor passing and not much pressing like the previous games. That could be part because of the international games and the travelling of most of our players. What I did notice is also we did not push the ball forward as much as we normally do. Most passes went sidewards or backwards. I'm not jumping on Cans back but he was mostly guilty of that, maybe still rusty from the injury layoff but that did contribute to our slow movement and stiffling our play. but once he has regained match fitness he will be back to his best, also I did read that he played with a back injury so that could also be the reason he wasn't up to pace and slow to break up play. it also shows us the importance of Adam lalana and Gigi with there speed and positional sense to keep us going forward. Positives to take out of the match? I would say we normally would lose a game like this before so a draw is better then a loss and stil keeps up only 2 points of the leaders even though we could have taken advantage of the others dropping points.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

20 Oct 2016 11:12:31
Correct me if I am wrong. What's Can good at? He is not someone who is famous for his passing. He bring his physicality to shrug of players to move forward. He was never good at passing or setting up any tempo. Moreover he is indiscipline hence Henderson is playing deeper instead of Emre Can and Wijnaldum partner him.

20 Oct 2016 12:24:03
Should've seen how he shuffled the ball around in the box to get his shot off which was only brilliantly saved by Da Gea.

He's decent defensively could be better and also brings leadership skill. Stand and be counted.

He's just coming back from injury and hasn't had game time. Give him a while.

20 Oct 2016 12:24:38
You watched that game twice?

20 Oct 2016 13:43:38
we looked more comfortable after the changes. I thought overall we were the better side but both sides played poorly.

Thought Can did okay, made some errors but he's not match sharp and also he's still growing a lot and learning, he wasn't the finished product before he was injured. But I rate him very highly and I like how he wants to get the ball forward a lot and credit de gea he made 2 quality saves as he usually does against pool, the sooner madrid come for him the better ;)

Lallana is not my favourite played but he really made us play better when coming on and showed why he is getting in the team. Shame about studge he just doesn't look comfortable in the system, I really want him to get going and be smashing them in but it looks unlikely atm.

A point is better than a loss but it's a bit frustrating knowing we can play a lot better and take apart the mancs, hopefully 3 points in the next game!

20 Oct 2016 14:20:02
Sometimes I read posts and wonder who are actually Liverpool fans, my word.

20 Oct 2016 14:44:39
When cann gets match fit he'll be a big player for us. Maybe a bit like Souness was but without the arrogance.
The thing is there's only one way of getting match fit and that is by playing gamess so maybe Klopp needs to rotate the midfielders more often.
Maybe He'll use the cups for this.

20 Oct 2016 16:13:16
Both teams played poorly and even tho we were poor, we still created more chances than them and with some luck, could have won 2-0. I`ll take that as appositive even though we have played miles better than that in the past.

20 Oct 2016 21:06:51
Not overly disappointed with the draw, I've seen UTD play much worse than that at anfield and come away with 3 points.

21 Oct 2016 07:40:42
Give Can a break, he won't be the finished article at 22. His best attributes are his physicality, pace once he gets going (poor acceleration), tackling, dribbling as seen when he ran at United's defence on a few occasions including the one when he used quick feet to get past a couple of United players to create the chance and skill. His passing range is fine as shown by his lovely, inch perfect over the top ball to Sturridge.

20 Oct 2016 10:24:12
This is the kind of fixture i fear most these days . West brom home.

I hope we can get the 3 points

everyone is saying next 8 fixture are easy but we could really screw up on some of those too with the expectation to win against organized tight defenses

On a separate note. Man city 4 without win and 4 nil to barca. fallen of there high horse have they?

Believable9 Unbelievable2

20 Oct 2016 10:42:19
Let's be honest no game is easy in the premier league, I think we'll beat West Brom but it won't be easy, I think we can beat every single one of the next 8 fixtures but there will be slip ups no doubt. Just got to focus on one game at a time.

Great to see Barcelona destroy city last night, guardiola who?

20 Oct 2016 13:53:07
Why was it great to see Barcelona destroy City? City are leading our league right now, it highlights just how big the gap between the best of our league and the best of the Spanish league is.

20 Oct 2016 14:30:00
Yeah alright hjikle.

20 Oct 2016 16:14:39
West Brom are going to be very hard nuts to crack so we should just go into the game ready to play from the first whistle. No more waiting till the second half to start playing, pls.

21 Oct 2016 11:06:56
City gifted the game to Barca.
It was even enough till they self combusted.
