Hi Eds,
Who do you want to see signing in LFC from the names mentioned in the striker and in the winger positions? {Ed001's Note - I like the look of De Jong, so I would be happy with him as the striker, no idea about a winger right now. I just can't see an outstanding one, not one that would be attainable anyway.}

Even Johnson or Hazard? {Ed001's Note - Johnson seems to be troublesome, I am not sure I would want him now, though he has got fantastic ability. Hazard is not likely to be attainable, not with Madrid sniffing round looking to replace Di Maria.}

I know a player who has disappeared on our radar.

How about albrighton. He is not starting many matches at villa. But personally i would prefer a goal scoring winger like hazard. but that seems not possible. Also there is diego perroti who we were interested in summer. I would like to know about his availability.

Abhi {Ed001's Note - I forgot all about Albrighton, looked decent last season, a bit on the raw side maybe, but did well. I can't see him getting much football under McLeish, he likes to get attack far too much! He could be a decent option for the right. As for Perroti, he is available for the right price, but I wouldn't expect him to join in January, unless Sevilla are in the drop zone and need the money to buy players.}

True i still say elia should have been ours for 9m euros

Marko Reus is a fantastic prospect I think. Also like Griezmann although he plays on the left. Any chance ed?

I haven't seen anything of this Luuk De Jong, seems to be a bit of hype about him though! For the wing there's a young lad by the name of Raheem Sterling! I know he's still really young but he impresses me immensely. I try to watch as much of our youth as possible, the future is exciting for LFC! Ed, do you think his tiny frame will hinder his chances of becoming an established player for us in the premier league? Obviously its the most physical in the world but I'm sure Kenny, Clarke and the rest of the coaching staff see his potential.. Also, what do you make of Toni Silva for right wing? Again, young - and he has a lot to learn, looks a good prospect though

Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris {Ed002's Note - I think there is a very good chance the kids will do well but they are simply not ready yet. Expect a period on loan before becoming regulars.}

Thanks for the quick reply Ed.

I agree that some of our youngsters will be going on loan, but it seems that most of our loan deals aren't really turning out to be that successful..
Jonjo seems to be doing well and Pacheco played a couple of good games for Norwich last season, but we always loan either abroad or to a lower English league. It might just be my thinking but it seems logical to loan players to a team in the lower echelons of the premier league (no disrespect to other teams). Look at Sturridge, Welbeck, Cleverly. After their loan deals they went back to their respected clubs and slotted straight into the first team.. Do you think this is a viable option or is it simply a case of Premier League clubs not wanting to take on younger players to nurture their talent?

Thanks,
Chris {Ed001's Note - you first have to get a Prem team interested in taking them on loan, the one they all wanted was Jack Robinson, but he was our only back up left back. The difference with loaning to Prem teams is that it can only happen during the transfer window, we had injuries back then. The other thing was that we wanted to give a lot of the younger players a go in the NextGen tournie, to give them some European experience.}

Thanks for explaining that Ed, I wasn't aware it had to be in a transfer window to loan to another Prem club, as we've been sending people on loan to teams in the English FA throughout the year. Yeah, the NextGen series has been great so far, I still think we'll qualify too.. I really can't wait for the next crop of youngsters to break through in the next few years. I think they'll play some really attractive football, although it's probably too early to tell who will definitely make it. I wouldn't say we've got another Gerrard, Owen or Fowler just yet..

Chris

Thanks for all of your supportive messages today.
I especially like the posts going into great depth why you should ignor me. Although your team is worth very little, Liverpool supporters are, as ever, priceless.

I wish you all a very goodnight, and I suggest you dream of when Liverpool had a great team to help you to sleep. Don't be alarmed that your dreams are in black and white, as when your team was decent, colour archives wern't readily available, in fact the wheel had only been invented a few years before.

You are all lovely, and your appreciation of my attempt to cheer you all up is very much welcomed.

Sir Alex x

As Barnes took one look up before bending in a beauty of a cross, there was only one man who could always seem to find a few yards space in the box.........RUSH!

Im sure Rush was wearing Red? ;)

You've cheered me up big style Alex. Some LFC fans slagging you off for pretending to be a Manc, is a bit harsh imo. If I were a Toffee nose, i'd be too ashamed and embarrassed to admit it too mate.

Keep the charade up mate, you still have some believeing your a Manc. lol

Once a blue alway's a Manc , once a blue alway's a Manc . Just think sir everton could of been king's of europe if it wer'nt for the mighty red's is that were all the bitterness come's from , ( well pushing that a bit with the " king's " one it was only a cup winner's cup , they don't even have that cup no more do they wonder why ? .

Goodnight babe see you in morning . K96 .

Neverton are essentially manu's feeder club. So same thing.

Sir Alex up that late on a school night! Must be on the scotch again (delusion).

I'll leave you with this for thought Sir Alex, i know your probably curing a hangover so im sure this would cheer you up sweetie.
" as much as united will boast their success
Their boardroom and owners are in such a mess
and once good old berry nose takes step off his throne
Nani and co will be on a plane home
But lets face the fact that the fans are all braggers
and all of the team are just fat cheating shaggers."

I love you so much Sir Alex, and please enjo you day

With the Kindest Regards

You know Gerrard is a really football genius.
Not only does he play great football, he is
capable of sussing out the psychological weakness
of his opponents. Watch again his goal against Man United on Saturday:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkMj3lwVY28

You see? Gerrard blasts a well aimed ball right for
Ryan Giggs' goolies - knowing full well he'd be off
shaggin' some tart again after the game - Giggs thinks about it - what's more important, a goal for Liverpool, or my lovetools tonight? and he turns away from the wall and lets the ball roll into the united goal... Gerrard Genius!

Good response to the Oaf Justice Popplwells distasteful comments yesterday regarding the 'Hillsborough Families moving on' from their conspiracy theories and how the Bradford families conducted themselves with far more dignity over their loss.
This is from a survivor of the Bradford disaster who lost members of his family and he does not agree or share Popplwells views.

If Kenny is going to buy a midfield player in January its needs to be a player that is very comfortable on the ball that will instantly make an impact and can play in any team. A proper clever ball retaining / playmaking gem. We have enough british style midfielders we miss a technical player a la, Nasri, Turan, Mata, Silva, Wilshire, Ozil, Eriksen... are there any of those style players out there that are relativley unknown that could be targeted by the club?

Yeh there is but he's unknown

You've named an odd mix of players there. Wilshere and Eriksen have a completely different style to Ozil, Silva and Mata, and Turan and Nasri are predominantly wide players. If you're talking about signing a player who is comfortable in possession then we already have Henderson. If you're talking about a technically brilliant player who can change games then I think we're best looking for a winger. My personal pick would be Muniain

Red Ollie

I think if we still in the mix for league come Jan then we will buy a couple of players. If we off the pace and can at best hope for 4th then I think we won't buy anyone.

Mertens for me

20 Oct 2011 21:59:02
Ed - do you think there is any interest in either M'Vila, Sochaux's Marvin Martin or Borussia's Goetze?With Dortmund's disappointing form, january or summer move perhaps? {Ed001's Note - we seem to have decided against M'Vila last summer, but it could all change in the future. Now we have the solid British base Kenny wanted initially, there will be some different players targeted in the future. De Jong, more likely Moussa Sissoko as well, though I am sure all 3 you have mentioned will also be monitored just in case. I feel Goetze will be too expensive, Dortmund don't need to sell.}

20 Oct 2011 21:50:31
Approx what price would PSV sell for Mertens for?

20 Oct 2011 21:34:46
Ed's.

You keep mentioning Luuk De Jong.

You wouldn't mind telling me and everyone else a bit about this player? What pos. does he play? What are his key attributes etc. I appreciate any response.

Thanks, James. {Ed001's Note - he is a striker, but he has played right wing, I just got sent a link to a story on IMScouting about him: http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/Luuk-De-Jong-The-hottest-Dutch-striker-in-the-world/13515/ which suggests he can play behind a striker or wide left as well. De Jong is a goal scorer, an old fashioned goal scorer (something like 10 goals in 16 games this season), good in the air too by the looks of the games I saw. I am trying to get some more footage of Twente games to check him out at the moment.}

The new Dirk Kuyt! :-)

Ya, but lets just hope he's quicker and skillful with very good first touch version of kuyt with same or even more levels of movement, fitness and commitment on and off the field.

Abhi

Kuyt mach 2 with improved speed and skill hopefully...

Think you are expecting a bit much for him to be as fast as Concorde.

20 Oct 2011 21:34:06
hi eds, just seen you say something about luuk de jong. just wondering about your opinion of him? and is a he a jan or summer target?
thanks {Ed001's Note - I have only seen him a few times, I believe he is being targeted as a summer signing, though it might yet get brought forward to January. A lot will depend on who else shows their hand and which of our players attract bids. I believe he is seen as the replacement for Kuyt, I think he will be a very good replacement from what I have seen.}

20 Oct 2011 20:29:55
Ed why was my post not posted? Not that prude are you? Lol

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - It breached the guidelines for an acceptable post.}

20 Oct 2011 20:19:14
A lot of posters have commented on who we need to improve the team and who we will buy in Jan/Summer.

Apart from Maxi and poss Kuyt I can't see too many of the first team being surplus to requirements ( poss Aurelio, time marches on for Carra maybe).

But if we are buying the Cahill/ Sissoko/ Hazard/ Eriksen/ Goetze/ Sakho etc won't it stop the progress of our youth.

Last Jan - May we got to see the best of Spearing and Kelly, proper first team action for Robinson and Flanagan, useful development for Shelvey.

I really hope that this season we can introduce slowly Coady, Morgan, Sterling, Suso, Wisdom etc and maybe other useful talents.

I just don't think we need 3 big players if the youth steps up and delivers - just maybe RW/RM and either CH or CAM.

What do you reckon?

D 2308

I think you should wait until jan to see what we need, if anyone.
I personally think we will wait until the summer before we attempt to strengthen the first team and it will prob depend on if we get 4th place or not.

MIKEY

This debate was touched on earlier, hazard will probably go top chelsea?
Erickson being a spurs fan would chose spurs over liverpool, but tbh neither will get him as he will probably go to spain
Johnson I've been told IF city go for van persie johnson could well be used as part of the deal
Goetze, I'm not sure about?

M point was more that we should attempt to bring through some more of our young players instead of buying established stars.

I really want to see some of them make the step up.

D 2308

I can't see them players you mentioned getting a chance in the premier league this season. Well maybe a sub appearance or 2. They are all still so young. Maybe next season we will see more of them. I am desperate to see them play for us cos they look so promising but throwing them in when they are not ready will only do them harm. Luckily they have the king deciding if they are ready.

MIKeY

I agree D 2308, If Kuyt, Maxi etc do leave, we wouldn't need much. I would go for Adam Johnson and another striker. There's a lot of talk on here about Luuk De Jong, i havn't seen anything on him, so can't give an opinion on him. Another winger and striker plus our kids, will give us an even better squad. Comnolli said a few weeks ago that we had a 'conplete' squad. I disagree, we defo need another LW, striker maybe another CB, unless we are considering playing Kelly CB, then no need for one.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - what about RW Blair? That seems a weak spot for me.}

We've got Gerrard, Johnson, Hendo and even Downing who can play RW, Ed. We defo need another left footed LW, if Downing gets injured we've no natural LW, to come in. Maxi or Aurelio would probably be our LW, if Stewart gets a serious injury. Both are good players but not natural left wingers. That's why i would make A.Johnson my main target, he can play both.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I would rather not buy another one, if Downing did get injured, I would prefer to give Sterling a chance. I agree on Gerrard on the right, but I can't see happening, personally I think that's his best position. I have to say I am beginning to be unsure on Johnson, though maybe a move would do him good, but I am just hearing things that make me wonder.}

Everytime I watch Sterling Ed, he likes to cut inside instead of taking the ball to the byline and putting crosses in. He's a fantastic young player but not a natural LW. What about Enrique mate, would {Ed002's Note - And what of David Amoo?}

When I watch Sterling Ed, he likes to cut inside more often than get to the byline. He's a fantastic young player but not a natural LW. I would like to see him play up front, off the shoulder of defenders. He's got the pace and skill to terrify CB's. What about Enrique mate, would you consider playing him LW? I think he could play there no probs, with Jack or Fabio filling in at LB.

Is your concerns about A.Johnson's attitude? If so mate, would a move to somwere else not change this? Or is it somthing else?

Thanks....

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - I think Enrique is doing too well at LB to consider moving him. As for Johnson, it is to do with his attitude and his lifestyle, yes it might be sorted by a move but I am beginning to wonder if just maybe we might be better off without.}

That post was sent by accident Ed002, I think this Angel dust is kicking in. I was going to ask one of you mate, What did happen to Amoo? I thought he was a great prospect, what happened?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - he is out on loan, but he just never made progress, his shortcomings are all still there and his strengths have not been improved either.}

What we need to do is buy a player for RW irrespective of his favorite foot. Then we will have suso and sterling in the waiting list for future.

Abhi

For now downing should play rw belalamy lw suarez and kuyt as strikers

Watching the hillsborough debate on lfc tv brings a lump to your throat hearing some of the statements and proud to be a Liverpool fan knowing the support and passion we all share. lfc fans are as shankly said 1 big family this is what seperates us from all other fans and after 22 years of fighting hopefully can get the justice answers and apologies that are rightfully owed and those responsible for the tragedy and lies are brought to swift and firm justice. Please can all reds sign the epetition for the revelation of the source of the terrible disgusting lies that where printed in a rag of a tabloid about hillsborough ,thank you, redello

I finally got a chance to watch the speeches from Andy Burnham and Steve Rotherham yesterday. 22 years on, it still is difficult to stomach what happened and how those responsible lied and covered up events. It's sickening. Hope the above petition is just as successful as the last one - more than 140,000! JFT96 YNWA

Actually i'm getting sick of the nonsense that alex x spouts. It's not even funny anymore.

Can I suggest we juz stop responding to his posts?

Everytime anybody responds in any way, it juz encourages him to keep talking his crap.

Who knows? If we stop responding, he may well start replying to his own posts to act like he's posts always get responses.

I mean, would it really be a sursise if he did? He's obviously got no life outside of his mad obsession w LFC.

Poor guy. Probably had some past LFC-related trauma like being thrashed at footie by the Liverpool U-12 girls' team or meaning to buy a red liverpool jersey but buying a blue everton jersey instead cos he's colour-blind.

Poor lad. Not.

Nobody respond to that sad bloke, starting now, yeah?:-)

Oh yeah, btw, i'm actually kinda glad we're not in europe this season cos the games take place ard 3am here in Singapore so i'm finally getting some sleep. Haha

Nice little break for us Far-eas Reds til we resume our european campaigns next year.:-)

Sir Alex you seem more botherd than most Liverpool fans about us not being in Europe.
(Are you a closet fan)?
look the past few years have been a nightmare for us , but we've come out of it with new owners willing to spend money.
And a top manager who would do anything for the club.
You keep boring us with this thing about us not being in Europe , but I really couldn't care less.
Things are starting to look up for us and as long as we make Europe next year I'm a happy man.

20 Oct 2011 18:05:49
Lets settle back and watch the 2nd tier of English football represent the country in Europe tonight. Spurs, Fulham, Stoke, Birmingham and Liver....oh no, not again, I will need to phone my assistant to find out what's happened, please bear with me.

"Oi, Phelan, you told me Liverpool were playing in Europe this week.......what do you mean you were taking the p*ss, do you know how hard it is to cheer these people up? They will have my guts for garters, and Singred is going to blow a gasket!. How can I go back and tell them that the reality is, even Birmingham f*cking City are superior to them..........Yes, I know that's being honest.......Yes, I know they have no hope with the rubbish Kenny's bought, but can I give them any crumb of comfort?..............If that's confirmed I'll let them know".

Sorry about that, but I have great news for you. In line with your aspiration to "breakaway", all EPL clubs are unanimous that LFC you should play in the SPL. (Dave Whelan was so delighted he was last seen cart-wheeling and back-flipping his way down Wigan High Street). That way you stand a much better chance of a top 4 place, and your new recruits will feel more comfortable in a more appropriate quality of football.

The SPL have reluctantly agreed, but wish to inspect Anfield before approving the move. They are suspicious that there is invisible trip wire all over your pitch which only Liverpool players seem to fall over.

It is also assumed you will wish to take your stars, Martin Atkinson, Andre Marriner and Phil Dowd amongst others with you as part of your Liverpool squad.

I hope you feel this is a positive solution, and don't forget, I'm always looking to help your plight....keep cheerful!

Sir Alex x

What plight might that be... old united struggled to get a draw so your pathetic little paragraph just makes you look like an idiot

BREAKING NEWS!! NHS would like to thank Sir Alex for his repeated boring yawn yawn posts. While waiting to see the Doctor insomnia patients were reading his posts which had been printed by the receptionist who was a Liverpool fan. Depsite patients names being called there was no response. The Doctor found all the patients fast asleep. It has now been bottled as the 'Sir Alex Bore Cure'

I am glad that Liverpool not being in Europe had brought you a few laughs. I can assure you that we have more laughs waiting for the yearly inevitable. Its bit like we know its going to be cold this winter or despite the recession people spend thousands at Christmas. For you Man Utd fans The tonking by Barcelona will always happen in May.

It's always nice of you to pop on our site as if you didn't I'd worry that something might have happened to you. So we can hold off the search parties and checking the ditches, all is well.

Hey Ed's, just wondering what is the case with Danny Wilson. I have always thought he was great whenever he played, and he should be given more opportunities. Unfortunately this has not been the case under Kenny. Will he be sent out on loan? Does he have a future with Liverpool, because he and Coates could be the centre back partnership of the next decade. {Ed001's Note - I must have seen a different Wilson, every time I have seen him he has disappointed, that is why he is not in the team. The club have made it known he can go out on loan.}

(4)

(0)
Who was it who actually signed Wilson Ed? Rafa or Roy?

Stu. {Ed002's Note - It was Roy Hodgson in charge but the deal may have been brokered earlier.}
IT WAS RAFA! nothing to do with roy it was a done deal,rafa even said in interviews after how he left liverpool knowing hed set some players for the future 1 of the names he always talked about was wilson!

Alright guys? It was Kenny Dalglish that recommended Danny Wilson to Rafael Benitez. The deal was in place before Roy Hodgson took charge. I've Seen Danny progress over the last 5yrs. That boy will be a top defender in years to come. All he needs is game time. He's played in champions league games old firm games cup finals and was a stand out in every game. His best position is centre half. Kenny should play him he won't let youse down.

For everyone who slates Andy Carroll:
He was never going to score 20-30 goals a season ans was not bought for this. He was bought to build a partnership with our ball playing and finishing strikers. He is there to make space by drawing defenders and leaving space the others, he is always a menace to defend at set pieces.
I think he has being playing well, and if he gets 10-15 goals id be more than happy, because he gives Suarez, Bellamy and co the space to get a shot away.
Yes £35m was perhaps three times what he is worth as a single striker, but if you think of it as we got Suarez and Carroll, as a partnership once it forms properly, for £58m, which is what we sold Torres and Babel for? Then add to our acquisition Bellamy, so Carroll, Suarez and Bellamy for £58m, thats is good business.
Just wait until Carroll gets going, and defenders are on their last legs, doubling up on him for set pieces or high balls, and Bellamy, Kuyt, Adam, Gerrard, Downing or Suarez pick up the second ball, he is going to mean all of these players can get in and score.
Fair enough looking back Adebayor would be a better option, and £35m is steep, but he plays for us, played well in his last game (Everton), he wears the Liverpool shirt the same as the very worst of our players have done along with the very best, so get behind the guy.

Anfield Andy

He is Liverpool worst player

Kuyt and meireles used to open the play most players do ,Andy is a striker and was bought to score goals just like suarez was

MJ

Worts Liverpool player??
Hes better than Traore, Josemi, Mark Gonzalez, Crouch, Riera, Gabriel Paletta, Voronin, Kromkamp, Degen, Antonio Barragan, Pellegrino, Nunez, Morientes, Mellor.
Thats just a short list off the top of my head from recent years, but i supported each and every one of those players because they wore the shirt, and played for it.
Do you forget that Andy Carroll has only played a few Premier League games, not even a full season, he had a decent time with Newcastle before his move, but not a prolonged period in the prem.
He came with injuries, to play a different style of play and with a new set of players in a league he has only just stepped upto last season, look at his age.
Once a partnership is formed and once he gets an understanding with our play and the players around him, and establishes himself at the club he will come very very good.
Whether or not you think he is the worst or not, he plays the club you suport and puts his shift in like every other player on the pitch, and deserves the support of the clubs fans for his efforts just the same as Gerrard, Carragher, Suarez, Kuyt or Reina, who have all been through slumps either with us or previously.

Anfield Andy

To be fair Mellor was a damn fine player he scored 53 goals for the reserves for gods sake, Its a shame he had near career ending injuries and played most games on injections which just added to the injuries

MJ {Ed001's Note - Mellor's problem was, and is, his attitude, he thought he had already made it when he got his first pro contract. He lacked the pace and skill to make it at the top level and never put in the effort to improve his game to change that.}

You forgot to add igor biscan to that list

Biscan 35yrd worldie against fulham stands him in good stead for top 5 players ever, after Stig ingbjornaby, oyvid leonardson sean dundee phil babb and jan krompkemp

Not sure you could say Andy's been better than Crouch or Riera so far

The thread we had recently on the likelihood of a pan-European breakaway league seems pertinent after some of the CL Group matches this last two days.
There are some real stinkers.
Some of the games are so mismatched and uncompetitive.
It's getting to the stage where the managers of the bigger clubs are resting players and putting out reserves in European ties.
These matches should be the cream.
I reckon that getting into the top 4 in the Premier League is the equivalent to reaching the QF of the Champions League.
Having said that, the CL does throw up a "group of death" or two. But other groups are completely the opposite.
Is there a case for further pre-group qualifying ?
The Real KB

I think they should allow 5 or 6 teams from the top leagues to enter the CL, with 2/3 going into a qualifying round, with the lower teams who get automatic entry going into qualification with them.

maka

Its difficult, if like you say take 5 or 6 teams from the epl, does spain, germany or italy even have 6 teams equivalent to our top 6! would then there be uproar amongst the spanish, italian & german leagues bemoan that we have more teams than those leagues? What happens to the lesser leagues? What happens to the europa league for teams such as stoke our fulham for example? Is the new set up a closed ranks organisation?

Would he be expensive as Liverpool are minted these days ?

just looking at the champions league highlights there nd hoping by the look on adam johnsons face he is after realising mancini doesnt want him there nd he will come to liverpool in january

Johnson I think will go to arsenal as part of the van persie deal.
Hazard I think will go to spain?
Erickson, would by choice join spurs, being a spurs fan but if it comes to trophies or money then its one of the manchester clubs or chelsea!
I think lennon is a possibility? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea had Eriksen twice for trials and turned him down. When they went back to talk to him he turned Chelsea down.}

Well thats good to know ed, one less money bags team to worry about before joining the team he supports!! lol, in honesty though, I'm sure barcelona or madrid might be his destination instead of his spurs!

I've never heard of him being a spurs fan. And i am sure he isn't is. i would like him here for sure. He's a top lad. But chances are too slim. And we seem to have not been very keen on him.

Sorry to disappoint but he is a spurs fan, he gave an interview in 4-4-2

Actually, he's also been known as saying he's a Chelsea fan, Real Madrid fan, Man Utd fan AND an LFC fan as well.

Let's just say, he supports NO-ONE.

I'll go along with that but the 4-4-2 spread did show him with a spurs top on!!

Yep, a goal poacher, Michael Dundee.

I'd rather have Crocodile Dundee than his namesake !

Crocodile dundee was actually Michael dundee. Mick Dundee

I have been following the player speculations with interest.
Many players are mentioned, but one has to ask, are they good enough for LFC!. Yes, technically they may be gifted, but is their attitude and professionalism of a suitable standard to be deserving of wearing the Liverpool shirt.
I would far rather see players who KK believes meets the above criteria playing for the club. It should be a honour to play for LFC, and why should the club, owners, and supporters want any player who does not regard it as such!!.

20 Oct 2011 12:54:29
From the South African LFC Supporters site:

"KELVIN MacKENZIE faces a Commons grilling over the Hillsborough slurs.

The cross-party culture, media and sport select committee has specifically asked the former Sun editor to attend a special session later this year, according to Westminster sources."

I think that the public can attend these select committee meetings. It would be interesting to keep an eye out when this one is scheduled for ?

Just reading Ed001's comments on Adam Johnson, surely if Mancini is not happy with the players discipline and commitment, why should LFC be. Why would we want to buy a player like this.
LFC want dedicated and passionate players, not those lacking in these departments.

Perhaps he is like this because he is getting barely any game time and wants a move away?

Hai..First great Site..and wonderful work..

Guys,
Was watching Chelase plays...I simply watch to see torres...he left liverpool...but unable to leave him from my heart..he was class..absolute class...and i can smell he coming back...
i still have 3 jerseys of Torres...cant burn it...becoz if someone ask who is the most complete striker...torres comes in it....no doubt...
I know people here doubt about his loyality, his commitment..etc etc...but he did served liverpool 4 seasons..never ever got the support from owners he would have been...he never left to city, UTD..went to chelsea...

And if loyalty has to questioned..then Cole to chelsea, figo to real...there are plenty..
u can see messi also joining City soon..

No one can be gerrard..or Giggs or Scholes..
I really miss him...he is miles above carrol..and i assuare..he will remain miles away when carrol becomes 27...
there are certain things which u cant buy, nor create...torres has that..As simple as that..

Ed..i wanna ask u onething...y did we sell meireles??
is it because he asked for a pay hike??
is that the reason..then what will u do if suares ask for a pay rise next season?? will we sell him??
Raul is better than adam and henderson....do u have any doubt??

I am happy with the current team..kenny uis building for the future...
but..we need trophys..right?
we dont wanna be anotehr arsenal...we will make adam, henderson, suarez great..and finally they will leave us and go..

If we dont qualify for the CL next season...whom would you blame?
owners for not pumping another 100mill?
KK..wrong team?
Team for not performing?
Injuries?

I sit 6000 miles away from anfield..but i breath the reds..

make us dream....You will never walk alone... {Ed002's Note - Meireles was unhappy that a commitment made to him regarding money had not been fulfilled.}

Ed fair play to the answer on this cos i stiill cant work out what the hell its about? Messi for city? This has to be the random post of the day
LeeWils {Ed002's Note - I would not worry too much about it.}

I don't think Messi will ever leave Barcelona, a legend there all ready and will become their greatest player

Money do talk. Kaka never want to leave Milan but look at him now. Barca sure dont want loose £100m. next year Messi will jin city. and My hate for city will be more that time :)

Apparently Evra has been advised that he will need to provide evidence of Suarez' racial abuse in order to take his allegations forward.

It seems that lip-reader's opinions may not be sufficiently hard evidence, and Sky Sports footage has not shown anything that can be used as evidence, so it looks as if Evra will have to persuade one of his teammates to act as a witness, assuming they heard anything clearly enough to be sure what was said.

According to an expert of ALS (association of lip speakers).. After watching hours of footage regarding these serious allegations "Blackcurrent" is not deemed racist :)

Hi everyone,

Getting that pre-match feeling already, reading everybodys formations and pre-match analysis, some really interesting thoughts. I think this will prove to be a tougher test than we all may expect for Liverpool, especally after watching them play the better football at Old Trafford this year. Andrew Crofts has developed into a real leader in midfield (you could say i'm bias as im welsh!) Wez Hoolahan has gone from stride to stride sicne leaving Villa park, Zak Whitbread, the former Liverpool defender has proved to be a quality addition not to mention forward Grant Holt who is their talisman upfront. I do think we will win but its all about getting that first goal early. If so, i think we will control the game and get a couple more goals. My team is as follows..

Reina
Kelly - Skrtel - Carragher - Jose Enrique
Henderson - Gerrard - Adam - Downing
Carroll - Suarez

My Prediction.

3-0 win

Scorers.

Carroll, Carroll, Adam

Adzii

I Really rate Hoolahan - I saw him play a couple of times last year and was really impressed. Don't know if he has what it takes to make the next step in his career but he is certainly promising.

Am i the only person who is tired of this, i sure hope not.
why do we have to buy A. Johnson. i'm sure there are tones of other lads abroad better for the same price or a few more quid. why not buy hazard, heck anybody expensive. take some pressure off AC aswell. some with high chances of changing the game affecting the team positively. heck madrid wanted to sell Kaka why cant we get him, look at all Madrid the madrid rejects robben, hunterlaar, sjnieder, vander vaart. just buy some creativity. and KK shld have been more ballsie in the ManU. that was just sad having everyone play 90mins except for lucas who was taken off i guess for the yellow.

Red ron

For the yellow? hell lucas sucked that game. not sure why.

Kaizer

Cause he does absolutely nothing for the midfield but because he can suddenly half control a ball he is a legend. Slow, clumsy, can't tackle, pass back or sideways etc etc

Sorry iggypop in taking so long getting back but we lost out on the porridge making world championships aswell thatcher banned oats in scotland the same time she stopped milk for schoolkids ok a wee porky pie but when at the game the other night your fans produced a banner saying ( expose the lies before thatcher dies ) m8 as much as I agree I don't think the heartless bitch would care but as I said good luck when the report comes out anyway, but onto football matters I was on talking about charlie adam ex RANGERS & now liverpool another ex player of ours called billy stevenson could any of your old time posters out there tell me about how good a player he was as a guy a work beside always told me he was a far better player than jim baxter which is a big shout but the guy played a bit himself so I don't doubt him cheers
NTYABOW

Willie Stevenson was a great palyer for us....one of my favourites in Shankly's team of the 60's. Not sure how he would compare to Jim Baxter as I nnever saw Baxter play. Willie lost his place to Baxter in the Rangers side and was off to Australia when we bought him in 62 I think? Helped us win the eague title in 63 and the FA cup later. Great player, worked hard and hardly missed a game!

Agree with you on the Thatcher issue. SHe would not care a dot....but then again I don't about her!

Can i just say no matter what happened in the summer we should have put our foot down and kept Raul from going to chelsea. His performance was excellent last night even if he wanted to go we should have said no.Modric wanted to leave but spurs said no we are soft and never fight to keep our players. We should have got mata letting him go there without even a bid left a sour taste in my mouth. It seems we sell our best players and make other teams stronger.If we don't finish in the top 4 the manager should be responsible for the money he spent for the players he has bought in and the players he has allowed to leave.I watched a bean pole against rangers and though to myself why did we pay 35 million for a squad player who cant score against an SPL team.Also Carra im sorry but please retire i would rather see another CB one that can run. And before people say go to the utd page im a Liverpool fan

All i can say is its a f***ing good job theres not too many fans like you then.
love all these negative fans just remember a yr ago where we were before moaning like a big girl
we now have players who want to play for the badge and put in 100% some players take longer to settle than others we have bought alot of youngsters who will only improve with time under the great guidance of king kenny and steve clarke building for the future is clearly the way forward.
if you want a qiuck fix i suggest you turn light blue.
REDhunty

Raul was one of our best player last year accept it man rather then abuse. we sale him for just £12m ? a pay incrise been promise to him and if that happen he sure not leave.

My chelsea mates are raving about him

You ever heard the word support......??? numty. hate to hear you slating and disliking a club !!

matty b

You say youre a liverpool fan........

Raul played well for us in about 5-games last year when he was played in a more advanced role that Gerrard normally occupies. Other than that he was ordinary and bottled tackles. Take into account the opposition for last nights game and the scoreline. I cannot see Meireless getting a game in our mid-field - it looks much stronger without him.

JRG

He is twice the player adam is

I agree with this guy we should have made him stay we sold him in the last bit of the window , we should have sold him earlier or kept him.

"He is twice the player adam is"

I can understand why you didn't sign your post - let's look at their stats from the league last year:
(Goals) CA-12 RM-5
(assists) CA-8 RM-5
(tackles won) CA-62 RM-55
(Fouls won) CA-91 RM->39 (not in top 50)
(Shots on target) CA-35 RM-24
(number of passes) CA-1883 RM-1348

This season Charlie Adam has 4-assists and 1-goal while Meireless has 2-assists and no goals. Just because Meireless is twice the price doesn't make him twice the player.

JRG

Why even be a Liverpool fan if you dislike how the team is looking, and what they are doing... no need for supporters like you! Mr.Jones

Adam is a much better player in every department. His fitness isn't great but that's because he came from Blackpool who didn't have a fitness coach. Liverpools coaches will bring the best out of him.
He's already a much better player than raul tho.

I think peole are geting a tad overconfident about the Norwich game. We should win and should set ourselves out to do so BUT they are not a bad side. They play football and do not just hoof it like some people. They should have beaten Man Utd. Let's give them some resect lads?
Iggypop

Ive seen them against chelsea and united,they are a very good team,if they finished the chances they create they would be in top 6 now!

I attended the Bolton and Norwich match at the Reebok stadium and definitely agree that Norwich are a well organised team. They are good at scoring from set pieces too. Both of the Norwich goals against Bolton were scored from set pieces. I still feel that Liverpool will win, but we may have to work hard to do so. Patience may be a priceless commodity. Norwich are a hard-working side and may begin to tire towards the end of the match. They began to fade a little against Bolton, and also in their victory against Sunderland.

Team for sat:

Pepe
Kelly Carra Aggar Enrique
Kuyt Gerrard Adam Downing
Bellamy Suarez

This formation can create loads of different options for us:
4-3-3
3-1-3-3
4-5-1

What do u think?????

That is our best team.

Good team except for Kuyt.

I was totally cracked up by what marky mark posted earlier about our greatest weakness being gerrard's impending retirement.

That was hilarous!

Bro, u (and all mancs) shld be the ones worried about retirements. Cos when fergie goes (which shldn't be too far away judging by the colour of his nose), man u is done.

Gerrard is a great player. And when he finally hangs his boots up, we'll miss him.

But we've proven we can play w/o him. Juz look at how well we did w/o him last season.:-)

But when fergie goes- hohoho.

Need proof? Rmbr lee sharpe, phil neville, wes brown, john o'shea,etc? All fairly decent under fergie but less than decent away frm him.

And how many of man u's 'stars' actually star for their national teams?

My point is- fergie is a great manager (argh! Cnt believe I said that!) n he is what makes man u tick. And when he goes, the clock stops ticking. Haha

But of cos man u can try to replace fergie w 1 of his many hugely successful disciples. Bryan robson, steve bruce, mark hughes, steve mclaren or brian kidd? Wow, they'd win the lot. Haha

I can't wait to see it happen! I'm rubbing my hands together in glee like owen did afta he got his 1st prem goal! Back when he was still a great striker! Haha

Nice post. Man utd will be pissing their pants once fergie leaves. Let them enjoy the last couple of years at the top, then we will see how long they last.

Ed...was watching the CL game of chelsea..and to be afraid..i can smell torres coming back...he was outstanding yesterday...his class is best to no one in EPL....we spent 35 mil on carrol and he isnt making the starting 11..meireles was too good...
I have a dream of gerrard kissing the EPL before torres....

We become a feding club in EPL. Torres Meirles is our creation and chelsea now win trophy with that.

BULL...seriously genk!

It is a bit harsh to suggest that Andy is not making the starting line up simply because he was not selected against Manchester United. I seem to to remember that he started against Everton to significant effect, and I would be surprised if he did not start against Norwich. As for Fernando Torres, I do not see what benefit there would have been in keeping an unhappy player at the club. What Fernando Torres achieves at Chelsea is irrelevant. The player wanted to leave and had to be sold.

The Norwich game will be interesting as for the 1st time we have a fully fit squad to choose from ( apart from suspended Lucas). Also it is the type of game that we need to learn to win a lot more - ( a promoted/supposed lower half side at home).

It might show a lot on whether Kelly is able to combine both attacking play, width and good crossing or if we accept Johnson who is more effective going forward but can get caught out of position.

Would you replace the DM with Spearing or do away with the DM position and rely on 2 of Gerrard/Henderson/Adam.

Will we pick 2 strikers to go for the goals we need, or again use a fluid forward line with interchangable wide players.

Will we use Kuyt as RM now the "big" games are gone and if not who Henderson, Gerrard, Maxi?

Like I said it is interesting personally I think the back 4 will stay same, and 2 strikers up top.

I also think Hendo will be shunted back to the right for better ball retention.

so

Reina

Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique

Hendo, Gerrard, Adam, Downing

Carroll, Suarez

I'd take 3 points any way we can get but as I've £20 riding on Carroll bagging 20 EPL goals 8-0 with Carroll gettn 5 will do nicely ;)

D2308

Agger for either Carragher or Skrtel and reckon it's pretty much done. We should see lots of the ball so it would be good to have a ball playing centre-back in there.

JRG

I think good team except surely Agger will be back and perhaps switch Gerrard and Hendo. Actually think Gerrard could provide Carroll ammo from the right.

Hendo hasn't been good at RM, when played there, and he's a complete different player when he is in the centre. i think Kuyt at right would be better.

What does Kuyt offer at RM?? Nothing at all.

20 Oct 2011 00:09:21
so norwhich this sat my team wouild be

reina

kelly carra agger enrique

gerrard adam
kuyt downing

suarez carroll

we know stevie and charlie love to bomb forward on occasion but they can both offer excellent protection for the defence and likewise with dirk and downing who both love to get up the pitch and put balls in the box which suarez and carroll will thrive on, but again both of these players have the pace and defensive ability to offer cover to the full backs, all in all a very attacking team who im sure will get a decent result on saturday, someone is gonna get a hiding of this liverpool team soon and hopefully that team will be norwhich.

subs - suso hendo bellamy coates maxi johnson skrtel aurelio.

JFT96 .

TOMMY C

I disagree. Adam is a liability most of the time. I'd go with Hendo.

Imo adam gives 110% every game and his fitness has massively improved since the start of the season hendo is likely to go missing for large parts the game , dont get me wrong , hendo very rarely gives the ball away but he dosent see enough of it and with stevie back i just dont see him starting, maybe if we are struggling against a stuborn norwhich team you could maybe bring hendo on as a impact sub the likes of how u would with bellamy but hey lets see who kenny picks on saturday. JFT96.

TOMMY C

Henderson is only good coming of the bench

Adam is improving game by game. Hendo is improving as well. I think they would make an awesome CM combo with Stevie on the right (not a huge Kuyt fan tbh). 4-4-2 at home (Suarez & Carroll upfront) and 4-5-1 (4-3-3) away with Lucas in at DM and Suarez alone supported by Hendo/Stevie.

{Ed009's Note - We play pass and move football where he is just a cog in our wheel; at Newcastle he was the centre of their entire game, the fulcrum which they relied upon. That meant they played entirely to his game. I imagine that is what your pops meant.}

Ed in that case he should learn to be a cog in the wheel rather than the fulcrum of the team. We can't make the entire team adapt to him, he has to adapt to the team.

Keith YNWA {Ed001's Note - and he is trying to adapt, but it is not that easy, it means a complete change of his game to suit us.}
