Hi ed a question for you, do you think Torres would ever come back and do you think he wishes he didn't leave in the first place cheers des {Ed001's Note - no and probably right now he does!}

Who's Torres?

We have moved on so should you

Torres does not care he's a mercenary who has doubled his wages and only has 4 years left in top flight football

Time to move on mate

You could ask Andy Carroll the same thing?

I think we should stop calling ex players names now as it makes us seem a little bitter. Just do what any non-bitter fan would- wish them well and say nothing more.

Does anyone know how I can get information about the Youth teams - we seem to be signing a lot of younger players but then we don't know how they are progressing.
DM {Ed001's Note - try the official site, there is usually live and delayed coverage of academy matches on there, though you might have to pay. I forget now as I have been subscribed so long, I can't remember what is free and what I pay for.}

You pay,but liverpool tv on sky etc shows matches

Highlights in his hair, but none on the pitch...

I don't have a rumour just a lot of respect and sadness for Brad Jones and his extra-ordinary loss, truly sad to lose a child so young - he played for Liverpool but no matter what team he represented I would have the upmost respect and sympathy for the man, please be well soon - and please know you will never walk alone

Even gary neville was sad about it

i took my family to florida recently, i went with my family and my brothers family too (who is also a fan)

anyway the reason i am posting is some thoughts we both had there and i believe other clubs have tried similar.

what i saw on the way into magic kingdom and disneys other attractions were either block paving or big walls. on the paving had names of visitors who paid a small amount to have this honor and the walls had character plaques in the same way.

i do remember years ago sunderland charged something like £20 a brick to locate in there stadium.

why not offer to the world wide support both local and the all round the world a similar opportunity. the area around the new stadium could have anywhere up to 10 million bricks at £10 a pop would raise ... well you do the sums.
then have small plaques of the liverbird with the same and then as a fan my name would go into club history and will always be part of our great club.

just one final thought then we can lay 96 larger bricks, these bricks would though need to be located so anyone visiting the ground will never ever forget.

thanks for reading

Ive seen it too. I think you could be onto something there. It wouldnt take much for LFC to set up a website. Start marketing now, in anticipation. Two years down the line the interest payments and the revenue gained helps build our 70k seater. GAME ON Man Utd & CITY!

I too have received the same information as Macca.

Stevie will be out till January.

This is all I have managed to get out for now.

I hope to update you tomorrow/in the next few days if the information becomes available, although the press might latch on to it before I manage too.

I hope this adds credibility to Macca's earlier post.

Thanks, James.

I didn't watch all the game today - only the last 15 minutes of the first half and the last 10 minutes of the 2nd. Don't know about the rest of the game but from what I saw:

Maxi has a knack of scoring goals. For me, we should be finding a place for him in the team.

Henderson looked great on the ball. Really impressed me last time he was on as a sub as well actually.

Our full-backs are top-class.

And finally, I don't know how Adam played in the rest of the match but from what I saw he was class. Chasing down every ball, winning free-kicks, causing problems. He created both goals, hope he can play like that every week.

Really impressed wit Adam & Lucas today i usually slate them. I wonder will we see Carra on the bench from now on, any thoughts? delighted to see Bellamy start wit Suarez intelligent play for maxi's goal. Wonder would Kenny considering moving Johnson into midfield, personaly ild think it wud be a gud move!?
Red&Bred

Sorry red$bred but followers like you we dont need. How fickle does that make you feel, admitting to be red&bred but one of the whingers whos been slating our players.....(notice I didnt used the word supporter)...then you have the cheek to make a suggestion that Kenny should maybe listen to you and actually that he should follow your tactics ?

try acting like a real supporter and get behind the team ALWAYS!

Tel 1949

I dont see what was wrong with Red&Breds post. Certainly wasnt negative and overly-critical like the usual tripe dished up by Ash and RedTurk

cozinoz

Ino its like we're not allowed to have options and admitting them.

Haych {Ed001's Note - the poster was referring to red&bred talking about slating Lucas and Adam.}

Thankyou cozinoz for mentioning my name very sneakily, i admit sometimes i can over zealous but also i do believe you have to be honest about how we playing or certain squad players, just like daniel agger was with the comments ' headless chickens and certain players care more then others' RedTurk

Nice one Cozinoz. The joke is, Carroll and Downing don't play, who I have been saying are not good enough are dropped and, surprise surprise, WE WIN! I was more impressed with Adam today I must say.

Learn to read the posts properly Cozinoz and you will understand your post has made you look stupid.

Ash

Your name was quite blatent RedTurk - nothing sneaky about it. Can I suggest we get rid of KD and install Ash as manager as we win when he chooses the team. I guess we have never won with Downing and Carroll playing then, Ash, or were you just not supporting that day?

cozinoz

I really can't win can I cozinoz. Carroll and Downing are not good enough for Liverpool. We play better without Carroll in the team and Maxi was more effective in the 60 or so minutes he was on the pitch than Downing has been all season. Him and Bellamy were far more fluid in attack, and the combined total of their transfers was £53.5m less than the other two. Now in anyones book, that is not good business. And yes, maybe I should do the signings for Liverpool? One things is for sure, we wouldn't have players like Andy Carroll anywhere near Anfield.

Hi ed, on the topic of Fernando Torres, is it true that he was hated while at the club? If so, why?

Thanks mate.

maka
YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - he was a bit of a loner who never got involved in team bonding activities. Torres never became one of the lads, but it is a bit harsh to say he was hated, he certainly wasn't hated.}

Oh okay, cheers, didn't know that very interesting..thought he was a big mate of Pepe's considering they were neighbours?

maka
YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - they are mates, that is why I wouldn't say he was hated, he certainly had friends amongst the squad.}

am i near the truth ed? {Ed001's Note - near, yes, but I can't really post it sorry.}

Ed 01 you have ruined my week instead of enjoying the win over Chelsea im now wreckin my head wondering why was Torres disliked! Cant be just cos he was a loner.

Dont Buy the Sun

I always thought that torres changed when he got married and had children. It was obvious the love-in between him and Gerrard when he scored was missing.

Regarding Torres, i am happy he moved on..We used him when he was on his prime and sold him when he lost it...

Terminator

*Sold him for 50 smackaroos.

If you could get him back for 20mil would you take him back?
k-h

Why would we want him back? He was absolutely brilliant for a couple of seasons, but whatever made him tick has long gone and appears to be gone for good. Suarez is a far more complete player, and if Big Andy can start to show some form they'll make a perfect 1-2 up front. Otherwise, there are plenty of options for a front line.

Good game today..but we cannot always depend on midfielders to score..we desperately need a prolific goal scorer..even while in Ajax, suarez was a strong finisher but i wonder whats wrong with his finishing...thoughts?

Terminator

The lad never had a clear cut chance for himself today. The lads finishing is fine.Just enjoy the win.

Danny

Totally agree, i mean he only managed four goals the other day for uraguay...pathetic.

Answer is simple. International and dutch league are far slower than Premier league. In premiership you only snap shots most of the time you dont get the space he was used to in holland and certainly not the space he got for uruguay.

He will score more and take his chances better over time once he adjusts fully to the time and space allowed in this league.

I am really getting worried with all this talk of Montolivo- we have tried an Italian midfielder very recently and it did not work out. Central midfield is not an area where we need to strengthen. In any case we have players for the immediate future (Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing etc) and the long term future (Coady etc) so come on Kenny, Steve and Damian, sign a forward and a winger in January.

By the way I agree with the previous post about Downing not deserving a starting place on his recent form. I posted the same thing a fortnight ago and got slated. We have cover for all the midfield and forward positions so we can change it around if players are not doing as good as they should.

I agree mate. Montolivo is very similar to Aquilani, works a little bit harder in my opinion. But, like Aquilani, is easy pushed off the ball and would probably struggle with the pace and ferocity of the PL. I would Mousa Sissokho, as the eds suggests, is a better option

Montolivo is like lucas but offensive and we need one when gerrard is out. he's a playmaker and a good long distance striker of the ball also sound when defending. he is at the age where he has gained experience and is 100 times better than shelvy an spearing....and at a cut price deal would be a safe option.

I watched Montolivo last night and was not impressed at all- please steer clear KK and DC- Ed dya have any views on him? {Ed001's Note - I don't watch a lot of Italian footie (it bores me to tears) so can't really comment on him.}

You can't make judgement on one game especially with some the showings a few of our players have this season . If Kenny decides he is what we need then we should back him like carrol for example

Great result and performance today! Hope this result gives the non believers in Kenny a kick up the arse! The next time we have a dissapointing result which will happen, I hope you will remember days like today and cut Kenny and the lads some slack! BECAUSE WE ARE A WORK IN PROGRESS. CONTINUITY WILL BRING REWARDS! IN KENNY WE DEFFO TRUST!

I wonder if Jason Cundy will say i am not convinced by Liverpool next time he is on the talk programme on sky. I bet he is crying in his beer. What really impressed me today was the way we rode the storm and came back even stronger. The squad is looking really strong just a shame about Stevie G'S injury. Also there are not too many mancs to be seen tonight.

mighty reds

Spot on mate i cant stand that cundy he's a biased cockney nobody oh and also that other big headed ex manc and chavski ray wilkins who was on tv saying "chelsea will take liverpool to task and win 2 -0"

He stated today that Arsenal and Spurs are Chelsea's only threat to 4th place...maybe he's conceded 3rd to Liverpool? He's a waste of air at the best of times, a poor mans paul merson

hi guys great win today. I thought we bossed the first half and played some really good and entertaining football. I think the play for the first goal was excellent and a good finish by maxi who i think should get more chances in the first team. Also thought that adam was excellent his tackling was much improved along with help setting up both of are goals. And for the people questioning kenny taking off Bellamy we do have to play Chelsea again on Tuesday. We needed to give him a rest because he played fantastic against them so hopefully he will do again.I have a feeling suarez may be given a rest looked kinda tired towards the end of the match. thanks

Danny

Match wasn't that good

Result was fantastic though...

Good decisions by Dalglish today. Recent performances by Downing haven't waranted a starting place (all the more galling when he plays a blinder in an England shirt).

Whether Maxi got a start as a message to Downing or just tactically how Kenny wanted to play it he has grabbed it with both hands. More end product from Maxi in 70 min than Downing all season.

Chubs

Maxi is confident in his abilities, a very intelligent player on and off the ball - he syncs almost perfectly with Lucas, Suarez and Bellamy in Kenny's pass and move system. Downing will come good he just needs a goal. I hope Enrique takes note of Johnson's goal and starts attempting to beat defenders like Johnson did. Enrique has the ability and pace to do it, he just needs to believe he can. I think as a pair we have the best fullbacks in the EPL and our centre back pairing of Skrtel and Agger is probably in the top 4. The most promising aspect is the players appear to believe in each other and are strarting to play like a proper team. In the past against Chelsea we were physically overpowered but this is no longer the case as the overall physical strength of our team is now alot better. I do however think we need back up for Adam and Mousa Sissoko would be ideal. Yes we have Henderson but Sissoko is monster of a player - quicker, stronger, a better tackler and very consistent. He would really help solidfy our midfield expecially against the likes of Spurs and City who have the best in the EPL.

20 Nov 2011 20:59:53
Im not surprised by our win today, nor will i be surprised when we beat city and then chelsea again after that. Why? Its obvious to me what our problem is...pressure. Our players simply cannot (for whatever reason) handle being the favourites. Every time we are the underdog we get a decent result. When we are favourites, we struggle. The reason must be that we don't handle pressure.

Lets hope kenny sees what i see and corrects this issue.

Rewflo

Couldn't agree more. For whatever reason Liverpool play well against the big teams but fail to get results against the lower league teams. That is the reason they will not be in the top 4 come the end of season.

Marky Mark

They still have plenty of time to address this issue and I think have a stronger team than arsenal and tottenham so top four is on

The hooker who bedded Wayne Rooney claims "Wayne tried to talk filthy to me but wasn't quite up to it"
Well you should have dressed up as a referee then.

During the World Cup, Wayne Rooney was caught on camera questioning the loyalty of England fans.
It's a good job he hasn't:
- cheated on his wife with several prostitutes
- left the local club he supported as a boy for a more successful rival
- asked to leave this rival after years of them nurturing his talent just so he could get more money at another rival
- before disappointing the fans at this new club by making a U-turn when he was offered a massive pay rise.

His loyalty has, thankfully, never been in doubt.

Rooney wants to go to Juventus - he'll never turn down an approach from an Old Lady.

As you can see, anyone can go onto the internet and type 'football jokes' and copy and paste them for comic effect on here. But banter is about wit, originality and spontaneity, something that is obviously lost on you.

Great result today and glad to see Charlie Adam getting the plaudits he deserves, I think he has been fantastic this season but is always one of the first people to get criticised when we haven't got a result as he isn't £20m signing with an exotic name. Would like to give a special mention to Pepe Reina though, captaining the team and produced a magnificent save when it was 1-1. That's why he is the best keeper in the league.

But I think the last word should go to Kenny Dalglish, showing the care and compassion that makes me proud to have him as the manager of LFC:

"It was disappointing for everyone at the football club. Luca had been ill for a while and unfortunately he never got any better. That's when football becomes irrelevant when a boy loses his life.

"I don't think we'd ever use Brad's misfortune to motivate ourselves, I don't think that would be right. I think everyone's been in touch with him but you dread to think what the boy's going through. He knows everyone at the football club is thinking of him and feels hugely sympathetic towards him."

Quality post, All the best.

Wow, I finally reeled in a Liverpool fan with a brain! Do I ever claim to be witty or original? I just post things that I find funny, and I know will make you scousers a tad angry, and all I can decipher from your admittedly well constructed (Rare on the Liverpool FC page) essay is that clearly my witless banter has affected you deeply :-(. Anyway good result today, I was rooting for ya'll against Chelski, and nice touch with the Brad Jones mention, RIP Lucas.

i am so happy i could s**t rainbows.....great work everyone....and Glen Jhonson..wow!!

20 Nov 2011 20:46:38
Fantastic result today, really pleased with the team, some brilliant tactical moves from Kenny and most of all Steve Clarke who is really vital to the team.

I think Glen Johnson was good today, needs to be better in defence, but what a goal! Absolutely brilliant skill and finish! His attacking was superb and I would love to see him at RW with Kelly at RB.

Lucas was also outstanding today, breaking up Chelsea's play whenever they had the ball relieving pressure from the defence, absolutely immense!

The rest of the team also showed some really good play and should be really proud of the victory.

Onto transfers..

I don't think we need to reinforce the defence for the time being as the whole back 4 has been magnificent, although I do feel that in the next year or so we need a replacement for Carragher, preferably someone like Mussachio or Vertoghen.

RW is another area we should look to reinforce with players such as Johnson being linked who I think would be a great signing for that position, although he does seem to have attitude problems but I'm sure Kenny would be a good influence on him.

We need a playmaker in the mould of David Silva to provide the tick to the game, something we are currently lacking without Stevie G. Coutinho would be my preference as he looks like a great prospect and isn't getting many games at Inter. Honda is another possibility, but if we didn't go for him in January I doubt we would go for him now.

And finally a striker. Carroll, as most of you will agree, is not living up to expectations, but needs to start scoring. He isn't a natural scorer, but neither is Suarez. We need a player like Luuk de Jong who, as the Eds have mentioned, is on our radar. He would be an ideal replacement for Kuyt and would fill that gap of a goal scorer at our club.

And on the matter of Luis Suarez I do not think he is guilty of being racist. From what I have seen there is little evidence of him actually saying anything, and if the thing he said was the word "negrito" I believe it is a more friendly word used in South America and if he did not know it would be offensive then it would be unfair to punish him. Let him off with a warning and let him apologise if that is the case. Patrice Evra is known for stirring up things like this and if he is found to be lying then he should have just as strong a sentence as Luis would if he was found to be guilty.

Thanks eds and take care, sorry for the long post..

R.I.P. Luca Jones, my thoughts and condolences are with Brad and his family.

Did you just say suarez isnt a natural scorer? il admit he could have put a few more away since he moved to liverpool but his record for ajax and Uruguay is unbelievable. i think very soon hel start banging in plenty

I am very satisfied with the game today
but Dear Ed do yo know whay carroll is not getting any game time?

thanx Tom Red {Ed001's Note - because we have a squad and he wasn't felt to be the right option against Chelsea.}

If carrol played we probably would not have won, hes a dud, he is the wrong fit for the team and the style we need to play, sell him ,replace him and move on,kk cant get it right everytime.......kingkennykop7

Stop bitching about the lad Carroll and get behind him,he is still a kid and has moved away from his home/family.He is clearly a player who plays off conferdence, Give him time as he offers somthing diffrent and can change games.

I am very proud of our lads today, thought everyone gave a great account of themselves. In particular Charlie Adam, he was outstanding today, worked hard tackled and distributed well. All Reds fans can take great pride in the effort put in.
My condolences to the the Jones family, RIP young Luca.

Torres left 10 months ago, why do you people still want him back? He's not coming back, he never will, let it go FFS!

I agree totally it shows what a good decision it was to get rid of him and Meireles when both were sat on theench today. Torres thought of the money at the time not his footballing career plus was well below his best for about 12 months.

Another goal from Jonjo Shelvey for Blackpool. 6 goals in 8 games. Can anyone name me a player in any of the top English divisions who has a record better than that? Especially for a Midfielder!

The lad is quality! Stevie G ready made replacement.

Thats a Good One

Now back to reality

Gerrard the greatest Liverpool player ever.

20 Nov 2011 20:18:43
At 1-1 we looked like conceding another, for a while anyway. It looked like it was going to be due to the lack of mobility in centre midfield (Adam and Lucas both played well, btw but I was screaming for Henderson to join them before Chelsea scored) or down our right, because Johnson was getting exposed a bit.
And then Charlie and Johnson showed their strengths to score to combine for the winner. Fantastic! It's great that their strengths came to the fore and hope it gives them all a massive confidence boost.
I'm still unsure about the Adam, Lucas partnership but I thought Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy (working back really well) stiffened the midfield a bit.
But let's enjoy the win and take the positives of our players, for a change, and let the defeated criticise their players.

that was the type of performance that i have allways expected from a liverpool team. watching the game from close up was a lesson in playing what we call proper football. my friend Raul was besides me watching the game and he was impressed with the never say die attitude and the creativity by the Liverpool players.( wipes tear from eyes) Liverpool have come a long way since last season and both Raul and myself are very impressed. (wipes another tear from eyes) We both wish Liverpool the best and our hearts will remain on Merseyside but everyone needs to earn a fortune don,t they? Sorry for the late post but we had to sit in a room and listen to a Portuguese guy rant and rave for a while.(strange man). Anyway, all the best for the rest of the season. Have to go now ( more tears ) Missing you lots

How was it a bad preformance? We beat a very good side similar to the one that won the league a couple of times, yes, we were poor 2nd half but we destroyed them 1st half and could have gone in 2/3-0 up! At the end of the day we won! STOP MOANING!

I know I will get Slated for this post, watching the game today was fantastic I am Kennys biggest fan always have been since I was 9 years old when he first came to Anfield. How anyone can doubt his tactics or knowledge of the game is beyond me, he is, and always will be a Legend, a person who deserves the utmost respect for what he has done for our great club.
However, to come to my point, I along with all Liverpool fans I felt let down and betrayed by Fernando when he left, and especially when he didn't have faith in the great man Kenny in turning the club around, (however if we were honest with ourselves most of us were worried that even Kenny might not be able to turn things round).
But seeing Torres sitting on the bench for 85 minutes not enjoying football, watching his mates beat Chealsea, makes me a little sad, knowing the damage he and Suarez could have caused. Time is a healer and I think if we all had a chance again we would all love Torres to come back and Torres himself would love to come back. What a waste of a great talent, sometimes the club suites the player and in Torres case it is never so true, Liverpool suited his game perfectly.

By the way a big up to a forgotten man today - Steve Clark, the defense and tactics were spot on.

RIP Luca,
Shankley once said football is more important than Life or death, thats one thing the great man got so wrong, Our thoughts go out to the family.
You'll Never Walk Alone

Evered

How do you know he wants the come back? do you know him? If you do I reject this but half your post is wishful thinking.. I for one wouldn't want Torres back I don't think of him as a team player but quite selfish something which was ever present in the Chelsea side today.

Could not agree more with every word in your post lad! SPOT ON! R.I.P. LITTLE FELLA.

Waro

Yes I do Know him. hence the post

Let's face it, the modern game is all about business. Morality no longer exists. So purely speaking with my business head on - If Torres was as good as he was in his first two seasons with us & the money was right - I'd take him back in a flash.

dd

Well tell him to get is arse back then.
I for one would welcome him back with open arms, i watch LFC tv all the time and some of the goals and skill that lad had was amazing.
him ans Suarez upfront WOW
Paul the red

If we played our cards right we could pick up Torres for closer to the money we payed for him. If he starts playing like he can we could have a 50 million striker for 25 mil. Great business in my eyes

Its not in his hands at the moment

Forget him, he's history. He's not the player he was we had the best of him and, like Owen before him, he'll never be as good as he was for the Reds.

People negative because we all know they can produce it!Its so frustrating, forever on a rollercoaster. If only we could find consistancy. Is it an attitude/motivational problem against so called lesser sides?Suppose the man who finds that answer can solve our tile quest.Thats the 64,000 dollar question. However the quest can be made easier, and will end sooner with correct team selection.Which it was today!Pace all important in modern game.Interplay and quick passing been proven twice now in games Maxi, bellamy, and Suarez play. They combine really well.Alls us moaners ask is correct team selection, pace in side, always try to be offensive. We did all that today, whilst retaining shape.Everyone did and knew their jobs.A pattern was there that didnt exist v Swansea. And for once we were resiliant and didnt panic when conceeded.Weathered inevitable storm. We did ugly things really well, already said shape. But closing high up pitch made things happen offensively. That tempo, commitment, and high press game which makes things happen, rather than waiting for it to happen is what we used to do.And what us moaners want to see.Glen Johnson showed initial Red form today. And Adam was excellent.Whilst Kuyt worked tirelessly providing balance.Wish this had been side sooner! And hope starts regular!Hendo did well when came on.Unfortunately Carrols style doesnt seem to fit ours.If you play quick, passing game dont see him fitting. If you merely want hold up guy,Zamora can do job and hold up better. But love the style we played today.Pace,pace,pace.Did Torres look Mardy there now too, lol? I think his body language is one of regret, knowing he jumped to soon.He only smiled, when talking to Lucas at the end.Who would try cheeky cut price bid for a return? He s it on us,but an apology, and link up with Suarez??Anyhow a positive post from me!Made up.Thats what wana see, even if do get beat.MR.Whinge!!

Todays win was well worked for, i think we closed excellently for probably 70 minutes, after which you saw how hard we had worked, but that is not done without prior thought, we now have a 7 day rest before City at Anfield, however City have a Champions League clash to think about, as do Chelsea, who we face in the carling cup after City.
We put everything into the game knowing that we would have a better rest than the teams we are playing in the next two games. I believe bringing on Carroll was the wrong decision, and that Spearing would have been better, adding a bite to midfield for the dying moments, but a win is a win, and a massive confidence boost.
We have to work hard to maintain that effort against City, who we definately need a result against to stand a a realistic chance of fourth. What I would also mention to those who are pessimistic about fourth, last season we were out of the running at Christmas and yet pushed to the wire by May, we are a second half of the season team and I believe that we will make good on this, especially as City, United and Chelsea go into knock out rounds and Tottenham travel further every couple of thursdays.
Also, just to make a point of a transfer rumour, I believe that Montolivio (Spelling?) would be an excellent steal and would possibly be the difference between us getting fourth or not.

A solid performance from the lads today,as everyone showed the determination and spirit required to win the game, instead of settling for the draw.I have said on numerous occasions this season, that we haven't always had the results that our play deserves. We need to show the team, that we appreciate their efforts they are putting in this season, and get behind them.Bellamy and Maxi are 60 minute players now, but very effective when used in that way.I think the way the team are performing without Carra and Gerrard shows how far we have evolved. So lets stop the bickering with each other and get behind the boys.

RIP Luca. YNWA

Kenny Dalglish is a Jedi Knight.

The way he smiled and moved his hand in front of AVB's face with 10 minutes to go and told him to bring on Torres and Meireles....awesome

That made me giggle..."Send in the clowns, AVB"

If we play Kelly as a RB and link him with glen as a RW. Also use Jose as a LB and link him to Stuart on the left wing.
This arrangement will give us attaching options from both sides. Lucas and Adam in midfield and use Bellamy, Luis, Maxi, Kuyt or Andy as strikers.
Our defense is the best in the premier league. Today we were lucking attack on the left wing. They were not any passes in the box from the left. I believe this was due to downing being on the bench. Barnes as well as Stevie confirmed that downing will cause terror to defenses and I myself strongly believe that. If we use Glen on the RW it will take off some pressure of the left wing.I believe Downing is a strong and fast winger and soon he will prove himself like Adam

Macca's DNA checked ed? Ifso gutted about Stevie g but must admit i was sus about his injury. All the best Stevie.

KNEE JERK {Ed007's Note - It was the genuine Macca mate.}

Gerrard has been the heartbeat of the Liverpool team for the last 10-years, but I think it shows the work done by Dalglish that we haven't missed him since he was first injured. We now play as a team rather than relying on one or two outstanding individuals.

Thanks

JRG

Thanks for info mate, do you reckon we will get another attacking mid in then to cover him?

Thanks Macca truly gutted, yes we can cope without him but its still Stevie g.

How much better does it feel when you see his name in the starting 11, and the attiude he ignites in the team and fans alike. All the best again Stevie.

Absolutely gutted, was really looking forward to seeing Stevie return, do you know if this is a serious problem Macca and whether it will seriously effect the rest of his career even further?

We are starting to get quite dominate over chelsea now don't think they have beaten us in three and the games previous to that I think we held the edge. Hope we can keep it up for the carling cup game....let carrol have that game to prove himself and play a similar line up as today V man city

Well thank god we won. I could not take another week of negative posters. You could actually see some of them sharpening their knives during & even before the game with their " glass half empty" attitude.

We played well. Better in the first half than the second where we had to hang in there for a while, but we were playing at Stamford bridge so it was obvious we were gonna come under the cosh at some stage. Maxi linked really well with Bellamy and Suarez in the first half. Lots of positives from a lot of players, yet im sure the doom mongers amongst us will find something negative to say. Any chance we could move the City game to their ground?

The Irish Rover

The performance today was great , in particular as you mentioned in the first half we were in total control , and as expected we came under fire in the second half and I thought we dealt with it very well, and Pepe wow what a save ...
As for the doom mongers, probably I am one of them, but I can assure you I would 've posted the above even if chelsea sneaked a goal or two more ...What I would like is for the cheerful lets support the team no matter what brigade to admit that todays display was 100 times better than our last 2 games, we actually had a midfield that controlled the game.
BUT lets all enjoy the win and gear up for another excellent performance next week.
Roy

Thoroughly enjoyed that today, great performance from everyone. like what kenny's thinking with suarez bellamy kuyt and maxi who all seem to have an understanding of each other and crop up in all the right places.
so nice to see us get the late winner for a change.

If you want to read some doom and gloom, have a look at the Chelsea banter page. They have already turned on AVB, it seems Romans attiude towards managers has seeped down to the fans, disgrace. All the best.

They need to get a grip on reality..! New unproven manager does not give instant success, Roman is like a little kid sometimes and some the supporters follow suit.

Nice to see Charlie dedicate the win to Luca - heaven only takes angels - also glad to see alot of players proving their critics wrong today...Charlie, Lucas, Skertel, Glen...not the most dominating performance but a strong and much needed win. Just need some consistency now.

Fantastic result today, looking really strong away from home just hope we can improve on are home performances. Kenny got the tactics spot on today, he may not have done this in every game (who does tho) but today was perfect. Good job I'm not the manager, I would have taken Johnson off and put kelly on as I thought we were getting cought out down the left. Has taken a little presure off next weeks game as thought we needed 4pts from the next 2 games so nearly there. Was impressed with Adam today, have to say I think he's struggled in a 2 man midfield in some games this year but hopefully he can grow into it with performances like today.

Bilverstone YNWA

Agree with adam bit, his fitness has come on loads the first ten games he could only manage 45 mins today he was our new steve g in running all our good play. i also think we have now got the best leftback in the prem. note to bell and maxi true players who get left out all season (so far) then play there hart out when asked.

matt f

When he can do what he did today i don't understand why Johnson's not been tried on the right wing yet, especially with kelly showing such defensive composure.
that said, i wouldn't've changed anything today, kenny's got it spot on so i'm sure he has his reasons.

20 Nov 2011 18:44:35
good win, excellent pass from adam, actually he had a good game all round today. thought that was enrique's worst game so far. putting maxi on so he could interchange with suarez was a touch of class and bellamy was brilliant first half. Don't know what happened second half though, we just seemed to fall off. but all the same well done lads.

gotta start playing suarez and bellamy every game from now on there movement and understanding 1st class.

20 Nov 2011 18:41:14
Hi All,

Congrats to all LFC fans for victory today. I believe this is for Brad Jones & his family. On game i would say most people have been saying to play Johnson in wing and it proved today why. we can kill few birds with one stone by moving johnson to right wing. first of all more attacking option and kelly is better defending and gives him chance to play and Flanagan to develp, get rid of kuyt and get Luke De Jong or another finisher for kuyt who is not gonna improve or be profilic scorer or winger anyway. I would still go for another attacking midfielder such as Honda..In all we are looking better, even Adam looks little slimmer...

Montolivo for attacking midfield he is what lucas would have been as a offensive player

20 Nov 2011 18:35:03
i am suprised we won today..i still cant believe it!

to win at stamford bridge with 442 is an even bigger feat.

i just hope next time adam tires...i want kenny to jus take him an bring someone fresh an not leave it too late...

other than that...i guess it shows what happens when u have pace upfront in bellamy...and suarez..

If adam had been subbed there would be no second goal :o

Take Adam off? Who provided the killer pass at the end of the game to Glen Johnson?

20 Nov 2011 18:32:51
Great game well done LFC. I would nominate Charlie as the man of the match. He created both goals.
I fell that Johnson should play on the right wing and put Kelly as a LB.
Also I think we were a bit slow on the left today.I feel downing should be at that position. Him and Enrique link well.

Then maxi would not have scored. they don't link well they confuse each other

I'll just say nice one boys and suddenly things have a different complection. Great first half, decent second half besides from their goal. Kuyt should have laid it off to Suarez wehen he had his shot a couple of minutes before Jono's goal, but 3 in the bag. No complaints.

Scott78.

Suarez was offside, actually. Kuyt's made that exact shot before, as well.

McSnuggles

Had Kyut scored you would have said quality finish. He did the right thing but didnt finish it
Speedy

Speedy, I said no complaints. I wouldn't disrepect Dirk because he's one of my favorite players because of his attitude and because you can can see he loves the club. Just saying he could have laid it off. I don't think Suarez was offside in that move though. Could be wrong in all honesty. 3 points is good enough for me. Everything else pales into insignifigance.

Scott78.

Scott78..... Suarez was onside fella. Meireles was playing him on. I used to hate kuyt but now I do appreciate what he brings to the team. Having said that it seems that Kenny sees him as a good squad player but one who will be rotated and I think thats correct. He is good but not irreplaceable.

Great performance today especially first half.Thought charlie adam was excellent, ran out of steam a little but put a lot of work in along with others.Thought we also stood up well to the physical side of it, led by adam.Maybe just maybe we can take all the points off city, now that would be fantastic.

20 Nov 2011 18:13:37
Would love to hear from the crapfans tonight. Great ALL ROUND team performance - something I have said so many times I'm bored saying it again. You can see Henderson, Adam (how about that pass?) and Suarez growing in these games now. You can see how important fitness is and they're getting that fitness now - as a team.

I love the way Enrique and Johnson are playing - powerful defenders who can go forward. And so good to see Skyrtel and Agger starting to look as if they can look after most what is thrown at them. Obviously Lucas was great - but then one almosts expects that don't we? King Kenny got it right. Bellamy and Suarez was a smart starting option - you can see the Chelsea defenders not comfortable with them at all. I was a bit surprised but hey, that's why he has 'KD' on his tracksuit and I dont.

This is still a work in progress - and this still Dglishification Version 1.2 - with a few bugs here and there. But - we've got a flippin plan eh? And I have seen the light -

Great start to a Sunday evening. Glass of a quality RED wine tonight. Will raise a toast to the red whiners.

Credit should also go to steve clarke

Totally agree, one of the most exciting games of football I've seen in ages. To go to Stamford Bridge and take the game to them shows how much of a genius KK is and that he's not afraid of anyone. Not dissing Rafa, but he would never have played away from home like that.......

I really think its time to start playing glen johnson as a winger......he really has better movement than downing and has a fiery shot....jst think he can really cut inside on his left foot,I think u can remember that he claimed the best goal with Portsmouth which was on his left foot and also with england as well he can provide good crosses ....jst thinking why do we need to buy A.Johnson when we already have a G.Johnson

Congrats all! Lets continue our unbeaten streak at Anfield next week!

Man of the match has to be either Adam or Skrtel for me, Adam created the first, beautiful ball to Johnson for the second, had a very, very good game.

Skrtel was a beast today, he didn't let anyone boss him around today, did his job very well.

Suarez clearly tired. To the point where he was causing a few problems for us. Having said that, if Suarez wasn't tired. We'd be much better than Chelsea. Its really hotting up for top 4. Fingers crossed villa can get a result tomorrow. Lucas is turning into a worldy. Check his positional play sniffing danger and now one of our most passionate players. Excellent player. Made up for glen. u

Maxi and Johnson off to chelski in January for a combined fee of 75m ;)

20 Nov 2011 17:56:03
I'm not just saying this... before we scored the thought crossed my mind - I wonder if Torres and Meireles are coming on to watch us score the winner!! Oooooo....

Also, why are we not playing Johnson the right wing!

I asked the same question to an ex-footballer who played with Leeds. Apparently - a winger has to play often sideways or back to the game and ball - wheras a full back is 9/10 - always attacking with the rest of the pitch in front of him - once he starts moving (i.e over lapping). Johnson (and I've seen him live 3 or 4 times) is great running on to a ball - very strong, fast and hard to stop (if you see him close up you will know he is no light weight - he's built like a light heavy boxer). But a winger does not often get that - they receive the ball at their feet and have to start from scratch and that is probably not in GJ's locker.

Personally - I think he can just be improved defensively to be a superb attacking RB - no reason why he cannot be as good as Ashley Cole.

Wonderful goal today - loved the left foot-right foot-left foot (Whooosh!)

Maxi-itus: this disease causes a person to apear at the right place at precisly the correct time.

got to say taticaly we have done everything right with team selection, AVB has made a terrible error in playing such a hifg defensive line with either unexperianced (prem wise) or slow player and to punish this we've gave are hard to handle set in Suarez,Bellamy,Kuyt,Maxi.

May sub Hendo for Lucas early in the second half out of fear of a red card but apart from that i'm quite happy -McMenemy

Tough game, but we've a great chance of 3 points today. Luiz won't be able to handle Bellamy and Suarez

Team of LFC-Reina, Enrique, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Adam, Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy, Suarez.

Finally caroll, downing and hendo droped on form.it will help them in long run as it will send message that team is selected on performance and not on money spent.
Finally kenny has woken up.now I hope performance and then result follows.

This is the clinically our best side

Downing probably didn't start because he ran his balls of for england on wednesday.

I promised the missus to make love to her
every time Suarez scores this season, she's
looking forward to the game today cos after the
internationals break, she reckons she's
on for a hatrick. Pray for my strength lads.

Bellamy Adam kuyt Lucas maxi
Suarez up front on his own
Can go to 433 aswell as 451
There will be a massacre at the bridge we will wallop them

Every Liverpool fan I know is saying the same - Torres is gonna score !

Just not today mate.

He's on the bench though KB, as is Raul, take it AVB learnt his lesson from the Arsenal game that he backs out of too many tackles.

Went into subway today and asked for their biggest, greasiest, most expensive sub.

They gave me an 'Andy Carroll'.

UNITED_LEGENDS

^^ha ha!

Hey united legends dont forget that other subway sub BERBATOV im told he's a real old expensive sub

Poor banter, poor fans...

UNITED_LEGENDS

Still no brain for United fans He forget about Torres

20 Nov 2011 15:18:36
Bit of a strange one with Maxi in the starting line up in place of Downing... lets hope he puts in a good display

20 Nov 2011 15:15:58
HEY LFC FANS...........

we have 1 and a half players in midfield...which means JUST LUCAS doing all the work..and adams fouling, and being slow which results in me saying HALF a midfielder..

i wish we had 3 in the centre..cos im sure thats why we played better last year....also arsenal had 3 in midfield

ahh well..we aint supposed to win anyway lol

4-4-1-1 with kuyt and maxi = narrow compact midfield with FOUR behind the ball in defence leaving suarez and bellamy up front for counter attacks and width.
Kenny must know what he's doing...

20 Nov 2011 14:53:53
According to BBC:

Stewart Downing has had a total of 15 shots in his last four league games without hitting the target once.

LOL

Should put all that energy trying to assist

Yes but at least he aint afraid to shoot, if the rest of the team followed suit( always a chance the keeper will pary a shot) than maybe we would start scoring instead of just creating

I have seen the Evra U tube. I posted the link on another fans website and it was removed immediately. How is it that you allow it but they did not. I never used any swear words but was spam filtered.

Was FT forced to hand in transfer request?

He was not forced to hand in a transfer request, he decided to leave since that summer but he decided to give it another few months because he appreciated Roy going all the way to where ever it was to talk to him about the new situation, but came January we were in a down slope at the time and FT felt for his international career he needed to leave . .. well we all know it back fired on him.

Bellamy has to start , its a joke he hasnt been in the team up til now

You see future?? lol

That is the line up, expecting Maxi to impress today.

Renegadered

I think its a poor formation and leave lucas being overrun in midfield..u need 3 in the centre..

Really pleased to see David Luiz playing today the lad simply won't defend and wanders forward to much, i can see Suarez having his life today hopefully leaving space for Bellamy to run into.

I'm very pumped for the game too. I think the lads will be playing for "wee Luca" today. Chelsea are playing very open under AVB compared to the previous managers and that's why I think we will win. Think we will have at least 5 goals so I'm going with 3-2 Liverpool. Carroll and Saurez to do the damage. Don't be surprised to see a red card or two either.

Chi-Paul

4-1 Chelski.

How about 2-1?

Ok, this is my team for today. I like to post early so KK can see the sense in it & use accordingly.

-------------Reina-----------
Kelly---Skrtel---Agger----Enrique
-------Henderson---Lucas---------
Kuyt---------Adam-------Downing
-------------Carroll-----------------

Park the bus for 60 minutes! 5 in midfield & Downing & Kuyt to support Carroll where possible. Hopefully wear Chelsea down then unleash the pace of Suarez & Bellamy. Now I know that this isn't going to be everyones cup of tea, but I don't care. I would be more than happy with the most boring of 1-0 victories. A bit like Man Utd yesterday.

The Irish Rover

Totally agree, a win is a win, no matter how ugly.

Renegadered

Chelsea are not performing so well at the minute so it would probably be good to play those tactics but also attack from the offset could be good.

20 Nov 2011 13:20:56
If we can win 6-0 today, we can go 4th! ;-)

The Irish Rover

Sorry if I don't share your enthusiam, but I really don't have any expectations for this game!

SingRed

Only 6-0 Rover? 10 - 1 Reina hattrick!
Get a pound on that.

KT!

We will loose because they have better players simple. And Kenny made them stronger buy not getting mata selling the best striker we ever had and our most creative midfielder to them.

Win 3-0 and we go 4th

20 Nov 2011 13:11:05
you guys say rooney is ugly, have you seen the state of mr spearing? looks like sloth from the goonies.

But Chadwick belongs to you and nothing beats him!

And of course my dear friends, don't forget old ratface neville...you must admit, hes one ugly chap !

Headlikeaburstcouch

Spearing me look like a sloth but rooney looks like a sloths a**ehole.
k-h

Why waste your time even mentioning it lmao we have many ugly players so do united kuyt and park are ugly their mother were slapped at birth when the odctor saw them and nani looks like michael jackson if they can play who cares its banter he is a evertonian playing for united what do you expect

20 Nov 2011 13:10:53
Today's game will be a turning point in the season. Win and we will be considered true top 4 contenders. Lose and it will be "next season" all over again. I actually hope it isn't a tie. I want a decision now.

Super pumped for the game, and stomach sick at the same time.

Goofer

20 Nov 2011 12:48:30
In my opinion this game is important today as i feel it is symbolic of kenny and the clubs ambitions for the season. I told myself at the beginning of the season that my expectations would be 4th and bringing one of the cups to anfield.

This trophy is our most realistic chance of silver this season and so anything less than a win today is unacceptable. I would loved to have walked out at anfield during one of there magical English cup matches.

Any information on the story on the bbc sport rumours page about Carroll loosing the ponytail and muscling up? I have to say that for a lad with such a big frame he does have a distinct lack of muscle. Maybe this extra strength is all he needs to become our prolific striker? He's got it in him just needs a big of fine tuning... Any info or insights anyone?Eds?

SuperRedTed {Ed001's Note - it's actually an old story as such, one of the first things that the coaching staff did was draw up strength training exercises for him.}

Nothing new tot his year long, strength and conditioning program then?
SuperRedTed {Ed001's Note - he was checked out during his medical and the club spotted the lack of muscular development, it is just one of those features they come up with when news is short really. He does need to bulk up a bit, so he can properly bully even the strongest of defenders.}

Hi is just a few reps on the old bench press away from being a dominating striker. I am completely holding out judgement on him until the end of season. If he keeps working/bulks up (and cuts that awful ponytail off) then we will have an incredible young talent at the club for years to come. Agree Ed?

SuperRedTed {Ed001's Note - I still think he lacks the quick burst of speed an ultimate striker needs, but getting rid of that stupid haircut would be a good start!}

He also needs to work on his first touch I think.

Ash

I don't think he should cut the pony tail - remember what happened to Samson!

Samson wrestled a lion and destroyed an entire army by himself..... things were going pretty well for him..... big Andy however..... maybe it will increase his aero dynamics giving him an extra burst of speed....
SuperRedTed

And Mr torres.....

He should atleast have it the length he had it when he was at newcastle in the "luis garcsia style"

AND builking up e.i. weighted squats and by using a variety of plyometric exercises will sort out the burst of speed problem, which will improve agility, power and responses which will aid in his aerodynamics

20 Nov 2011 11:49:04
My (guess at) team for Chelsea:

Reina
Johnson - Carragher - Agger - Enrique
Lucas - Spearing
Adam
Kuyt - Suarez - Bellamy

-Shane.

This is the team I would have picked. Sacrifice Carroll for a more defensive midfield and for more attacking, and dare I say capable wingers. Although it would be hard to leave out Skrtl after two clean sheets.

Depends on who they got upfront if its torres and sturidge easy agger skertle carra hasnt got the pace to keep up unfortunately and will draw fouls and even penalties and with the experties of lamps i dont think its right to rush carra back straight in but kennys the boss

Can i just say if we loose today we will be 18 points behind the leaders of the prem. After the ammount that has been spent im sure the owners will have to take action i mean even arsenal will be 3 points above us this is not good enough for a manager who has spent as much as Kenny has. People on this site say things like we can beat the big teams but not the smaller ones well if we start loosing to both he will be sacked before Jan.His signings are embarrassing quite frankly Helguson from QPR looks like he can finish better then any strikers we have.

Get a grip and show more respect for the manager and players he bought. Either that, or go follow City, if a winning team is all your bothered about.
We haven't even played (and lost, yet ha ha) and you're moaning.
Love the club, warts and all.

You say this as if you are surprised? Spending £75 million on Carroll, Downing and Henderson was always going to end badly, you can't seriously mount a successful title challenge until you start signing good players and not distinctly average ones. That £75 million could have been spent on 2 world class players e.g. Mata and Neymar (examples) however Liverpool managed to buy 3 players who would not make any top 4's starting X1, your transfer dealings really do confuse me, but hey im not complaining ;)

UNITED_LEGENDS

Also it will only be 15 points, and 10 points behind United ;)

UNITED_LEGENDS

Get in the real world, like neymar will sign for liverpool

The Dark Knight (Realistic Fan)

No but we could atleast have tried signing them...in part what the poster said is true...theres alot of fans on here jabbering on about look at where we were last year etc etc but if your gonna put last year as your benchmark for liverpool...well then your ambition for the club is'nt what it should be, cause we should do better then we're doin at the moment and thats facts

Duno, you lot did alright with Carrick, Neville. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Hopefully they come good and it shuts everyone up, hopefully :(

Your absolutely right UNITED_LEGENDS you don't get far signing average players, i mean if only Kenny had bought quality player such as Carrick, Anderson or Park.

always a red

I have to say carrick, anderson and park are better players, thats why man utd can fight for wins. By the way im a liverpool fan but i prefer to be honest about our team. RedTurk

Ok well Carrick, Anderson and Park cost us about £40 million in total, and all three haven't exactly been flops... Carrick was instrumental in his first two years at the club, Park has always been handy in the big games and is a great bench player, and also brings in huge amounts of money through shirt sales in Asia... and Anderson, well he is just a glorified Lucus isn't he? Much better player than many give him credit for. Now if you had said Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba and Bebe, then you might have had a leg to stand on, but I guess Liverpool fans aren't living in the past..... oh wait.

UNITED_LEGENDS {Ed001's Note - Anderson is fat and crap, anyone with a brain can see he is simply not good enough, nor half the player Lucas is, hence why Lucas is ahead of him for Brazil.}

"Carrick was instrumental in his first two years at the club" instrumental at what? He's like Alonso just 10 seconds off the pace of the game.
As for Park come on just admit it he makes up the numbers, if his main asset is selling shirts then theres something wrong there mate.
"A glorified Lucas" not too sure what to make of that, there's not one United CM that would get in the Liverpool team, and that includes the midfield maestro that is Darren Fletcher :p

Whats the video about on youtube about? I watched about the first five minutes and besides from the little fifteen second clip of mini helium voice Evra giving it new jack city in his undies, I can't understand why people are suggesting it may be incriminating because it's all in french.

Is it because of his reference to the word which we cannot confirm or repeat?

Scott78

About 35 minutes in he appears to say Mother F***** N*****s whilst in his hotel room. Not hugely incriminating, but may add to the sense of false indignation at Saurez.

Eds - Do you know what will happen with Brad Jones? Unfortunately his young son Luca has passed away. Terrible news! I wonder if he will start playing again? Might work as a coping mechanism.

YNWA

AussieLFC {Ed001's Note - he has always had it left up to himself. Even while his son was ill the club let him choose what to do, he was available on a free if he chose to move, but he decided he wanted to stay. The club has always fully supported him, I am sure they will continue to do the same, Kenny is a great man to have as a boss when you need someone to talk to.}

Ed01 spot on. Kenny is magnificent as a human being. He has sympathy, empathy, and a good heart.
