I will be so gutted if Suarez does leave i believe he is the most exciting player in the premier league so why get rid?

Why get rid?
Everybody associated with the racism debacle has either left or been fired. Only Suarez is left, he nearly cost Liverpool a major sponsor. The American owners are very sensitive to poor PR. Suarez head is on the block its just a matter of when the axe falls. FSG will not want to be associated with racism. Its a damm shame because he is a brilliant player.

If suarez leaves to juve £34m - not saying defo but dont be suprised IF it happens . I'd be surprised but we need a big name to replace him I'd test Bilbao for llorente buy out clause 30m.

AJI

If, for talks sake, we did get £34 million for Suarez i would like Liverpool to get 2 forwards. Say Soldado and another (maybe Tello). I think we need to go into the league with plenty of options up front. Something we havent had in a long time.

The Irish Rover

Munian Ramirez with most of the suarez money plus a top striker eg higuain (long shot) or someone Matias Suarez or damoa from brazil

Thanks

Well nice to see the press link as many as our top players with moves away from the club as possible. Nothing new there. I really can't see Milan being able to afford 20 million for Reina, now the Silva move has apparently collapsed. Suarez seems happy enough here and Rodgers wants him to stay, so unless a huge bid comes in for him I can't see him leaving. Agger has come out and said he wants to talk about a new contract which is great news, and Skrtel has said he is nothing but happy with Liverpool and can't wait to play for us next year, doesn't sound to unhappy to me. Everyone needs to stop panicking over these rumours, and if they're true we will replace them, look at Torres. Also nice to see so many reds who appreciate the Ed's work to rally round and help kick rolling off our site, the best way IMO would be to either make everyone login, or at least leave an e-mail address which would give you more power in dealing with them.
JFT96
Smithy

The reason we have so many news stories about liverpool players being transfered out, is because the management have been putting out feelers as to the possibility of getting ride of some of our best players if the deal is right. So anyone at Liverpool is up for grabs as long as it makes sense on the balance sheet.

Amen to that Smithy - totally agree with everything, especially email or login.

With Chiellini out of the England game. And the Italians probably playing De Rossi CB (like they did against Spain). What a great opportunity this is for Roy to start Andy. He would cause their make-shift defence, all kinds of problems. I think/hope that Andy will get the nod to start, he deserves it.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair I've decided there is much too much negativity around and I'm in a good mood so I've decided I'm gonna get behind AC and I agree with you I hope he gets the nod (personally I'd partner him with Defoe but I know most won't agree!). Furthermore I'm gonna get behind him as much as possible next season too.

Chris in Tamworth

Agreed, Blair. Frankly I think it'd be very interesting to see how Rooney and Carroll would work together and given the setup England have had thus far he seems a much more logical choice than Welbeck.

Also, I was wondering if is it just me or has his first touch and short passing improved immensely?

RDL

Great shout mate!

Tom in Wolves

I'd expect them to bring in Ogbonna to the first 11, very strong and good in the air.

I'd still like to see Carroll start with Rooney though, Rooney's is at his best just outside the area.

KT!

De Rossi has been very good at CBK, plus the coach likes to play 4-4-2 instead of that 3-4-1-1 that the press and thee fans wanted to see. The only reason he caved in was because that injury to his cbk that caused them to try that formation out.

Chiellini is very overated he is nowhere near the standard of former great italian defenders like canavaro ,maldini for example he positioning is all over the place and i believe england strikers will cause them problems and beat them,marky irishman

Good on you Chris. This page has turned into a bit of a love in haha. Not that im complaining as it beats the hell out of abuse and negativity!
KiwiRed

Please don't compare Maldini with Cannavaro...Maldini is class and will be considered in the best of all time debate...Cannavaro is ridiculously overrated...the fact he won world player of the year is a disgrace

I vote we fake injury to welbeck and bring Heskey. Play Heskey alone uptop.

I'm being a bit tongue in cheek before anyone jumps on me, but I heard we've taken on a couple of Man City's scouts.

No disrespect, but you tend to think job that wouldn't have been as challenging as scouting for Newcastle, or Wigan for example.

Wouldn't scouting for City basically consist of checking FM2012, identifying the 50 highest-rated players in the world, at which point the club goes down the list offering them each a squillion pounds per year wages, until one of them signs?

Is that the best prep for a job where they have maybe 15-20mill at most for the biggest signing, and the rest are in the 10m and less bracket?

Good luck to them, and I hope they do a good job, but they won't be shopping at Harrods anymore!

Maybe its BECAUSE city dont need scouts....

City have alot of good youngsters, these new scouts know there stuff.

Maybe they thought the players they spot will never get the chance so they'll try somewhere else?

KT!

You forget that before the money man city had some very good youth players coming through. That was the work done by the man city scouts. That was undone by this new onwership. That is the type of work to be carried out at liverpool within the next 5 years.

So Rodgers is "ultmate Youth team coach" aiming to bring youth through the ranks to the pitch.

Our owners are right that we shouldn't compete with city finicially so we are going for the barca style and we already two players who could make the jump right now in suso and sterling and about 15 more who have the potential to do it in next few years eg Morgan ibe etc

Where has the Adam Johnson rumours come from? somewhere reliable or twitter?

I would have jumped at the chance 12 months ago, but he has really lost his way, I can not see how he has gone to City, stopped playing regular football, lost his England place, developed an attitude and his price more than doubled, would much rather pay the extra and try for Gaston Ramierz.

G BOX

Totally agree. Ramirez is a far better player in my opinion.

Hi G BOX ,don't think BR will play with out and out wingers anyway . I see another Suarez like player trying to be found so they can play anywhere in the last 3rd of the pitch .maybe big andy the only striker. But almost 2,5,3 going forward. Cheers psv

The question I would ask has this attitude develo

I just have a feeling Ramirez will end up at city though, G BOX mate, if he doesn't end up staying at Bologna. But agreed, personally it would be my preferred option rather than Adam Johnson, who I'm in two minds about anyhow.

Sorry about the copy and paste here.

Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi says he is relishing his clash with "idol" Steven Gerrard when they face England on Sunday.

The Roma midfielder, who will line up against Gerrard in the Euro 2012 quarter-final, has not been surprised by England's impact in the tournament.

"Gerrard has always been my idol and he's a player who's been at the top level of the game for 10 years."

He continued: "You see Gerrard defending and attacking. I would like to be able to play more like that.

KT!

Admittedly we all know deep down gerrard has lost his legs this last year but still a great player

To Eds and all connected. I posted on here earlier suggesting coming over from Belfastwith some mates to sort out the Trolls if we found out where they lived, such as Waterboarding them etc etc. I would just like to apologise if anyone has taken this out of context. I'm just so frustrated with the pathetic trolls on ALL sites, it really gets me angry, HULK angry. But I certainly don't want people thinking we, in Northern Ireland are ignorant and thuggish, that was not my intention. Please keep up the fantastic work eds, this is the best site on the Internet for football fans, and we want it to stay that way...

Stevie.

If anyone thought you was serious then i think they need a visit from you and your 'mates' themselves.

KT!

Excellent amendment/clarification Stevie

Puzzled

Trolls be trolling. It is in their pathetic nature. It is all they are and can strive to be; taking pleasure from the minuscule activity of trying to misdirect and confuse people. Small minds, small men.

Jolly Red

Well sed my m8 ,takes a big person to apologise , not that you had to ! We say all things we don't mean ,good luck to ye buddy YNWA. Lfc linc

I don't understand what the big issue with "trolls" in real life you'd just call them w**kers and get on with your day. Part of the problem is giving them a platform by focussing on a problem which isn't really a problem ( at least not for adults, kids perhaps something different as they are obviously not as resilient as adults)

HI Eds
i know that we have got 3 backroom staff from swansea and maybe 2 from Man city coming , but do you think we are likely to be adding to that especially on the coaching side ?

Guinnessred8 {Ed002's Note - I don't know. I guess the Swansea guys will likely be coaches.}

Sigurdsson will defo sighn every 1 knows that I think second will be gaston Ramirez any 1 agree

I would love Ramierz but i do not think we will get him..

G BOX

If we actually bid there is a very high chance that we will get him but we won't because we rather average players

20 Jun 2012 20:04:22
Curious who others think our starting 11 might be against WBA? Obviously a complete guessing game, but thought it might be a bit of fun to see who ends up coming the closest.

I'll start-

Reina
Johnson-Skrtl-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard-Lucas-Siggurdson
G. Ramirez-Carroll-A. Johnson

I know many will disagree, but that's not really the point- just looking to have a bit of fun.

RDL

I thought BR preferred more of a

GK
RB CB CB LB

DCM CM

LAM CF RAM

ST

formation, forgive me if I am wrong.

Jolly Red

Think his ideal is more a sort of loose 4-1-2-3 RED LENIN

I think RDL was looking more at who not formation. Whatever way you look at it a 4-1-2-3, a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-5-1 are basically 4-3-3 anyway it's still 5 midfielders when u haven't got the ball and 5 attackers when you have. In BRs offensive way of playing anyway.
Back to the op I like the look of that team a lot and would be more than happy if we opened that day against WBA.
Remember 8 or so years ago when Ambramovich came to Chelsea and the Rag ( sorry for mentioning them) ran a syndicate, or something similar, to see if anyone could guess Chelsea starting 11 on the first day of the season. And out of the many thousands who took part not on got it right. Crazy. Anyway sorry for getting sidetracked it just made me think. CQ

Yeah, that was sort of the intention, CQ. Just thought it would be interesting to see who got the most right. I suspect most will get 6-7, a few maybe 8-9, but I doubt anyone gets all 11 to be honest.

As for formation, my opinion is your explanation is dead on, but who knows...

As for my choices, I think the back 7 (although I'm worried about Gerrard's fitness after the Euros to be honest) are
pretty decent shouts, but the front 3 are a
total crap shoot. Thinking about it more I might have went a bit different, but I'll stick with my prediction for now ;-)

Is there any issues with the ownership for Fabio Borini at Parma and Roma? Also any news of a 15m bid for him? {Ed002's Note - They have to resolve the co-ownership deal by June 30.}

20 Jun 2012 19:47:09
Hey Eds,

I was wondering if I could get your opinion/opinions on Aquilani. Let me first of state that I'm too keen to see him come back, but I just don't like the idea of selling him for 3 mil or whatever was rumored.

He obviously has had his problems settling in England, and has made that clear. Some problems you can chalk up to him being injured the first couple months here, the others to managers not wanting him, and him not being good enough at times.

It's just frustrating seeing how Milan and Juventus have run circles around us transfer wise. He played a good amount at Juventus, around 3000 min, and would played more at Milan if wasn't for the 25 game clause. Juventus later got Pirlo on a free and Milan are just cheap from all I can tell.

So my question is wouldn't it be more beneficial to incorporate him as a squad player for Europe/injuries. Yes his wages are way too high for a squad player, but I think Rodgers' system would suit him quite well and we could possibly sell high on a him in Dec or next season.

Again I'm not an Aquilanin fan, just asking for your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks

KoopaTroopa {Ed002's Note - No, unload him.}

Fair enough Ed, just wondering if you could give a more detailed explanation. It just seems like there's no in between with people. They either love him or hate him. Just looking for a sensible opinion on him.

KoopaTroopa {Ed002's Note - I have spent hours saying stuff about Aquilani - try the archive.}

I have and couldn't find anything except little tid bits like your previous answers. Anyways cheers and thanks for the quick answers.

KoopaTroopa

He does not want to play for us - not now, not ever. He is costing us a fortune and we are getting nothing in return on an asset that is slowly devaluing. Release him from contract on a free and get rid of him as fast as possible. RED LENIN

RED LENIN, it seems it won't come quick enough. This Aquilani saga's the absolute pits mate, and he's contracted to June 2014? With a little luck he'll be away by pre-season. Can never understand why Rafa decided to take him on in the first place... well, hindsight's a fantastic thing to say the least, isn't it?

Cuchulainn's Hounds

There's no Inbetween. There's those that don't realize what a spambag he is and those that do. The guys a mercenary who's robbed us blind. He's scared of getting hurt in pl that's why Rafa never played him even though he was fit from November onwards in Rafas last season. Rafa didn't realize what a pussy he was before he blew 16m on him. Ridiculously hot wife though I'll give him that. CQ

20 Jun 2012 19:38:12
Roberto Soldado has to be our number 1 target this summer, I don't see why not. It's clear we're missing at 20+ goals a season striker and he represents exactly that. His record is amazing with almost a goal every 2 games. It's been clear that we've missed a player like himself since Torres left, no-one to do the simple job of putting the ball in the back of the net. £18-20m would get him and I'm sure he wouldn't turn us down.
Come on Rodgers!
YNWA

If he scores 1 goal every two games... assuming were talking just the PL campaign that makes 19 goals a season.... just to be picky :)

Too old if we are going to spend money like that it should be on young players like Munian or Ramirez or a real top young striker

"If he scores 1 goal every two games... assuming were talking just the PL campaign that makes 19 goals a season.... just to be picky :)"

Add to that goals from other players like Gerrard, Carroll, Suarez, etc. Soldado may be good, I just wanting a natural poacher as we have badly been missing one since Fowler.

Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that he wants Luis Suarez to stay.
The only way Suarez could leave Anfield is if he forces a move trough himself.
However this is very, very unlikely to happen because he and his family love the club and the city.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - We will figure something out Blair.}

I was thinking you ban the ip adress or maybe a members area for the whole site like the player-profiles website? JLFC

I think is is ridiculous how many people are so quick to call out that eds after all the work they do. Just because they don't say exactly what people want to hear like that we are signing all kind of "big names" does not mean they eds should be attacked. I will just say I appreciate all the work the eds do and no matter what team they support it means a lot that they dedicate their time to inform us all. Thanks eds and no matter what team you like and even if you don't like anyone YNWA.

Not looking forward to the one-month gap between the Euros and the start of the season! It's gonna be torture!

Hounsred {Ed016's Note - The Olympics are on. Should be some football being played during that. Also pre-season games and the early start in August so it's not all bad. Plus, would make sense that transfers are done early this year due to our early and rough start.}

Anyone know of the tv coverage of the Olympic football? (uk that is..)

Rodgers wants Suarez to stay. The only way he'll leave is if he forces it through himself.

And hw won't do this because he and his family love the club and the city!

I'm sure the show of support for Suarez during the Suarez/raging goon affair would have increased the chances of him staying too.

Hay guys/eds,

Have I missed something here. I have noticed people saying Ed001 is not posting around here due to abuse or something and Ed002 I know you have said your not mentioning south American players for same. So hav the rules on posting changed as I have seen mentioned that people will have to sign. To be honest I sign off most times but if there has been a change of the rules I'd like to be up to speed. I tried searching 'rules' and 'ed001' but haven't seen anything.

Our targets need to be realistic lads I don't think we will persude any world class player with cl football. I think we could just about attract Europa league players mid table team players this is what we can attract at present. I would be happy with dembele from fulham think he would strengthen our midfield. I would like negredo from sevilla he would give us a force to be rekoned with upfront.

I think Chris has probably got Downing down his XXXL boxers. No assists, no 'scores' and always drifting to the left.

I had to get Jan Venegoor Of Hessilink on mine. Incase anyone's wondering. lol

You do know most tattoo parlours charge through the nose as they hate doing football related tattoos? I know/knew a few and they hate it. While I think it is a nice gesture to have a sports franchise emblazoned on yourself I find it very cliche and completely misses the point of body modification in the first place. No disrespect intended to anyone with them. Just my opinion.
D.Liver {Ed016's Note - Shouldn't they just be happy with the business? the reason behind it is none of their concern.}

I got stefan kuntz on one arm and quim (the Portuguese keeper) on the other. Is this now toilet humour?!
Fowlerisgod

The tattoo parlours don't get you in a head lock, then tie you down to get one mate. It's your choice to get one, unless the wife makes you get one. Just like mine made me get Ashton Kuchers face on my chest. I must admit, I have no complaints at the moment.

I would do anything to keep the wife happy and satisfied mate. But she ain't no Demi Moore, that's for sure.

Terrible news about young Irish fan James Nolan (21) who has been found dead in Poland, He went missing on Sunday night. R.I.P

Hi Eds & Reds,

Earlier on 9 people disagreed with this, my word how on earth can the attempt to call themselves LFC supporters, I am not seeing this through green eyes as per say, but we as Liverpool FC supporters sign Justice for the 96 and You'll never walk alone in memory 0f 96 people who went to watch a match and never came home. This lad went to Poland to watch a match and never came home, you dont even have to be a LFC supporter to see the sadness in this.

Sorry for the rant Eds, but just find it disgusting and p!sses me off that so called LFC supporters could think in this manner, doesnt matter who the kid supporter, he was a fan just like you and me !!

Sorry again

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - Regardless of which team those who disagreed support, it really is a poor show. I would not necessarily taint them as Liverpool supporters.}

Sorry Ed002, maybe I was wrong to taint as all LFC supporters, but in anger I did, just thought it was a really poor show as noted.

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - I appreciate that RR - others have been venting as well (but not so politely as you).}

Your right rebel red ,They are not lfc that done that,simple as that ,thoughts go to his family R.I.P James Nolan ,YNWA

Rebel_Red, ED002, you are 100% right its a disgrace.

Trollers (I think they are called) get up to sad pathetic antics like this a(and much worse I hear).

Basically they are a bunch of sad f**king losers who hide behind their computers as the don't have the gut to spew out their shameful actions face to face.

The definition is a person who pointlessly upsets people online, a more accurate description is a f**king pointless person.

RedLee

Someone will disagree with your fantastic post Rebel Red mate. Watch and see. The more we complain about it, the more they'll do it. I'd be supprised if it were LFC fans doing it mate.

We should learn, not to feed the animals.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Well said mate,you are totally right the guy went to watch football and have a good time. It is sad that people who call themselves football fans can disagree and you should be ashamed,it doest matter what team you support the lad went to watch his country with pride. Just remember the support we have had off other fans from other clubs through are bad times and show this kid respect he and his family deserve. Colin

If there is a post in which a troll can cause anger by hitting the disagree button they will.

You just have to ignore it and recognise the agrees as the true feelings of normal people.

Have i missed something? clamping down on trolls or banning etc? Dont ban me im always nice ;)

Guys how would you rate toni silva, sterling, suso and joao carlos and who is most likely to make it?

My personal favourite is suso I think if he is coached well and given the chance to mature he will becomes a very influential player.

Personnally my favourite is suso if he gets the right influence. BR is probably one of the better ones in terms of playing style for him. sterling and silva in my mind have the equal amount of chance to make it if TS gtes his attitude together.

i think the real question is can adorjan make it? id say ya. but who knows

Evening EDs, question about the site if that's ok? do the EDs (who do a great job) get paid for doing the editing? Only reason I am asking is because I have noticed a few advertising links and wondered if they give money for that privilege, I would imagine this site must get a fair few visitors per day but I am not sure how it works
Cheers in advance
Kris
{Ed002's Note - The advertising may just about cover the IT costs. I don't know.}

Yeah, the adverts work by each time the page is reloaded the website gets something like 0.Something or 0.0Somethingp. Then when someone clicks on it the business gets more money. Sorry I can not be more helpful with actual figures.

Whizz {Ed002's Note - Aside from the rush on Mature Dating clicks recently, no one is getting rich.}

Whats all this talk of pepe leaving all about. If we sell skrtel, Suarez, Pepe then the stadium will be empty forget about making it bigger. We already have the worst liverpool team ever {Ed002's Note - Players are simply transient employees of the club. If they go then others will arrive. Suso and Sterling will be tattooed over Suarez and El Zhar on the arms of the faithful.

Actually, as an aside, I would like to know if anyone has the name of an ex player adorning their body. I recall the guy at Newcastle having the final touches being put on his tattoo of Andy Cole's head the day he moved to Old Trafford. Anyone want to admit to a Poulsen? A Marcus Babel?}

Not so much a tattoo, but I have a spot on my butt that looks like Gary Neville!!

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - A good start Blair. Do we have any Aquilani's, a Degen or two?}

Not a tattoo but I got my missus an LFC top with Meireles on the back on the day he was sold. Gutted.

Tristan {Ed002's Note - We should gather these sorts of stories together in a book.}

I remember a guy getting a huge Fulham badge tattoo that covered his back, and the next week Fulham 'rebranded' and changed their club badge, which meant that the badge on his back was obsolete!

I've got a Nicky Tanner potrait on my back and Torben Piechnik on my left calf !!

I don't know anyone personally but I do recall a man city fan having a tattoo of kaka on his arm I think! Assuming he was going to sign for them before he went to Madrid!

And also when we went to our first Liverpool match when we were 13, my mate lost his Liverpool scarf (it was an old one from the 80's and this was '94) We went back into the Kop for the Liverpool vs Newcastle game about 3 months later and found it tied around one of the barriers.
We left it there as it was the second to last game before the Kop went all seated.

Nice memory! :)

Sorry to disappoint ed but I've only got players names on the back of shirts. I used to go by the rule of "if they score a hatrick, they deserve a name on my back" (I know, they are lucky!).. So Babel and Torres both found their way on to my shirts...

Someone on the TV a couple of weeks ago had a face tattooed of a player who joined their club, they left soon after he'd had it done (not for that I'm sure).. I can't remember who it was though, it's going to annoy me now!

Sorry ed's I only realized that I had to write something in the email part after my last post. But what about you Ed 002? Any Shevchenko's or Shaun Wright Phillips'? Maybe a Veron or a Zhirkov?

I've always been slightly reluctant getting player names on the back of shirts (although i have a few, not that many) just received this years top in the post yesterday from back home. I had asked my brother to get "JFT 96 YNWA". I dunno, it just seems right and personally a better option than any players name.

Haven't we got 1st dibs on Mihajlovic (spelling) if he becomes available?

20 Jun 2012 17:55:34
I have seen quite a few people slate Ter Stegen on this forum.
Doesn't any of you watch Bundesliga?
He was arguably the best keeper in the league. He was by far more consistent than Neuer and doesn't have the ability of Neuer to make silly mistakes. He is one of two main pillars on which his team qualified for CL football. The other one obviously is Marco Reus. So obviously for 20 year old that is a great achievement and I think he had a similiar season like Courtois at Atletico Madrid and De Gea at the same team the year before.

Reina isn't going anywhere, rodgers is a MASSIVE fan of reina he is perfect and crucial for the role of sweeper keeper especially with his education at barcelona and his composure with the ball, quick thinking and passing ability. Milan probably are interested as they are looking for a new keeper but often a clubs interest gets blown out of proportion i.e. hazard to lfc - there was never a chance of this happenig same thing with pepe! And don't say he can be easily replaced, as a keeper he could maybe but in rodgers system it will be too hard.

Question for eds:

Obviously we are highly linked with Sigurdsson which I think is a good thing. I have watched him play, and he seems best suited just behind the striker. I had thought that was Gerrard's best position (though he is proving me wrong with his excellent midfield play in Euros....). I am just wondering where Rogers would put Sigurdsson. I realize you can't answer the question, but opinion appreciated. Perhaps he can play other roles? Winger? Move Gerrard back alongside Lucas?

I really don't see any point to putting Henderson on the bench, since he has potential and started almost every game last season. A 'demotion' will not improve his growth. Therefore, the central midfield will likely have Lucas as DM and Henderson alongside him. Gerrard and Sigurdsson more forward, but I am not sure if either can truly play a wing.

Cheers,

Coop {Ed002's Note - As you say I cannot answer the question.}

I doubt there will be a fixed starting 11. Have u heard of something called rotation policy? Gerrard is unlikely to play in any competition apart from the bpl. Hendo will get enough game time in the europa league, as will shelvey. Sigurdsson should play as our AM in the league.
Indian Buzzer

Before the tournament I would of really liked to see him play as part of the front 3. Remember the season he played behind Torres? He was phenomenal. But he's playing a blinder so can see him in midfield with Lucas and sigurdson or hendo.
CQ

And to Indian buzzer I think It's always wise to know your best preferred 11. Yeah there will be rotation. I think this was one of KKs issues last year just not knowing. CQ

Totally agree with CQ, Not playing our best 11 cost us alot of points last year...

Afternoon Eds and Reds. Just one thing, people talking about Reina leaving. If he were to leave, who would you guys- both posters and Eds- want to replace him? (Realistically, not Buffon, Casillas, or the incredible hulk please.)

Also, who is this Ter Stegen that some people are talking about?
Thanks very much.

For me, it would be Vorm, but suppose that's out of the question. Ter Stegen is class, but I think will be expensive. Realistically though, there are a lot of pretty good keepers out there since there are so few first team spots.

In general, I think Reina is not the best at stopping shots, but his distribution is excellent and he's comfortable with the ball at his feet, both of which will be critical I think in BR's setup.

RDL

Vorm is a boss!

If reina goes doni will get a chance and after a year if we are still looking for a keeper we will go for vorm

Downing for 20 million should have been blocked by someone on the board as should the prices we paid for Carroll and Hendo.I don't blame the owners but commoli should have put a stop to the silly spending.

Thanks for being the first to point this out. It's done get over it. CQ

Eds,
Need ur opinion on this.

During at Swansea, BR signed Michael Vorm from Eredivisie League. Looks like BR keeping update with talent from this league.

L.d.Jong, Jordi Classie the name that have been linked to us. So is it possible we will sign player from that league?

Any interest in Wilfried Bony and Chanturia?

Ed's... I have a solution regards the Trolls. If we can, in some way, find out where these pathetic clowns live, I, and some "Friends" will personally, pay for a flight over from Belfast if need be... ...and initiate some "Persuation" on behalf of all the legitimate posters on this site. If you want, we can throw in some Waterboarding.

Stevie.

Its a pity about some people on here, the eds just try their best and some morons just abuse them. if i was an ed i would seriously start thinking about people having to become a member(still free - just like name and email) to post but still free to read without having to sign up. that way you would know who the trolls are and just ban them and you wouldn't have as many posts to go through. you eds do a bang up job.

You're an idiot!

FAO Oh, i'm SO sorry Mrpjd, for attempting to show these Trolls for exactly what they are, which is faceless pricks, and if I or yourself came face to face with them, after slandering you online, I can guarantee that you would stick the head into them. But, if you and your ilk are willing to put up with the abuse Trolls hand out to genuin posters and the Eds, then maybe you should just stay off this site. And at least in MY country, Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, we still have a tendancy to stand up to bullies and teach them a lesson, including Trolls. Would you like to retort?

Not a transfer news Ed, just a comment on a movie I just saw. It was titled 'WILL', the story was based on a child who is a die--hard Liverpool fc fan named 'Will' who's father died and wanted to go watch the Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan.

Honestly it is a must watch for every Liverpool fan. It shows determination, focus and faith. There were also brief cameos from Stevie, Carra and Kenny.

Shevchenko to Chelsea, Robinho to Man City, Mertesacker to Arsenal. Veron has to be the worst though as he stung 2 clubs.

Robinho was the worst of the lot and not just cos he could not play but he could not be bothered and was a disgrace to football. I would never let him play in England again...not that i would have a say!

Most of us on here are 'Supporters' of LFC and appreciate a job well done, Most of us have nothing to add other than commenting on other ppls rumours (the point of the site surely?) and most of us can manage to do so without being censored, we might not always agree with each other but thats the point of 'Banter' isnt it.

I have a friend who knows Cristiano Ronaldo's agent well & he says that, he doesn't like Madrid mainly because of the fact that sometimes Madrid fans themselves boo him. He says that, Ronaldo may fancy a move back to England. I mean if we drop the Sigurdsson deal & sell players like Downing, Carroll & Adam we can have some money to spend. Adding it with a bigger budget will get us enough money to make a bid. If we do get him it will turn the club around completely. Besides, Downing, Carroll & Adam are of no use to us as they are pathetically useless. {Ed002's Note - You can add Ronaldo to the list of players not moving to Liverpool this summer.}

Not LFC banter, but did you know the journalist from the Daily Star who sadly passed away recently, Danny Fulbrook ?
He was only 40. Shame that. I remember watching the documentary on Graham Taylor, when he was England boss, and Danny Fulbrook was on that. I was struck then as he was such a young fella to be moving in the heady circles of top class football.

Just a quick word. A lot of people are getting excited about the prospect of having Lucas back for the coming season ( me included ). Some saying ' It will be like having a new signing'

Lets not forget that Lucas has been out for a fair ammount of time with quite a bad injury and it is unlikely that he will hit the ground running. It may take him a little time to get back into his rythm and his willingness and confidence to get stuck into tackle may not be what it was for a while yet.

My point is; lets be patient with him and not expect miracles straight away. Support the lad and don't get on his case if he is not his old self straight away.

With confidence will come performance.

Col

What about giving him lots of friendly matches, so he can get back into that rhythm. And if he is'nt back, then give him matches for the reserves. I love to see him back!

Fair point Col, I think we will have to wait to see the best of Lucas til the 2nd half of the season. He has had a very serious injury and I don't want to see him rushed back for the sake of it.

Steven Gerrard has shown for England he can play that role very effectively, and on another positive note Gerrard has looked so much fitter in the England shirt than he has the LFC one. Hopefully his injury worries are behind him

RedSG

Sorry but prior to his injury Lucas was, at best, functional and very one paced (i.e. slow), a superior Brazilian version of Robbie Savage. In my opinion more Igor Biscan than Didi Hamann or Mascherano. So lets not get carried away with his return.

The recent elevation of Lucas to superstar status by some

20 Jun 2012 09:19:32
Reports are saying B.R considering Joe cole in set up of how he wants play,which was entertaining.Hope he doesnt lose sight of the importance of Lucas in this attacking vision.Great,all well and good,but it has to be built on foundation of solidity that Lucas offers.And that when he was injured we had no one else capable in that role to build us a platform in which to play that attacking/expansive football. I also think it will take more than the 3 players hes quoted as saying we need. Maybe 3 for 1st team. But 3/4 for squad also! Really do hope he can instill someone to take the chances we create! Also read hes working night and day at Melwood. Hope hes taking in Euros also. Theres been some quality bargains on display

Can I ask everyone one thing? Stop the abuse. A bit of banter and fun with the eds and fellow posters is great but abuse is unacceptable. The eds give up there valuable time to provide us with some insight and this wonderful site so the least we can do is show some respect. Today Ed001 said that he hasn't edited on here lately because of the level of abuse, I then went on the Spurs site and thats where he's been. And who can blame him? If I were being abused I wouldnt take it. Ed002 mentioned a south american that we were interested in and because it wasnt Neymar or Lucas Moura he got abused. Thats just ridiculous! If this continues pretty soon us Liverpool fans won't have a site as the eds just won't bother anymore so please everyone, show some respect and cut out the abuse.
Cheers for your hard work eds.

Edward, I think you should put a ban on the pessimistic, essay lengthed nonsense that some people post on here! We dont need to hear it! I for one am sick of hearing people complaining about missed targets etc. Our biggest problem for several years now has been our poor business in the transfer market. Im glad that we are being more selective. Maybe we will get it right from now on. If any of the so called "missed" targets were that good then we wouldnt have shown a reluctance in bidding. Cole, Lucas, Henderson, Carroll, Downing and Adam all have a clean slate this year, and some of them could end up being as good as new signings! Stirling and Coady could be introduced instead of spending millions on squad players like Dempsey for example. I agree we need some players. In my opinion a CM, a wide player (maybe two) and a cf. But with Sigurdsson, the rejuvenation of last years signings and a few of the youngsters coming through, we could be closer than some people think. Lets get behind Brenny. For once lets not judge a manager on season one, or season two. Lets give him the time he needs to make us the greatest team in the world again. We are still the greatest club, just need to be patient until we are the greatest team. Stay Positive.
In Brenny we trust.

Luc Castaignos:

"[The club and I] have decided that I will be sold," Castaignos told Sky Sport 24. "Inter wants to loan me to an Italian team, but I do not want this. In Italy I only want to play for Inter, so I have decided to move on.

"I left Holland only to play for Inter, but this is not looking possible now, so I will leave. Of course I am sad, but this is football and the club and I have made this decision.

"I regret not having been able to show my qualities. If I could change anything then I would decide to go out on loan abroad, but this will not happen."

Any chance?

Can anybody tell me why oxface chamberlain (spelling) cough cough is getting more game time than downing the more i watch him the more i think of the next theodore walcott he has been awfull maby he just nervous but his touch and passing havent been upto scratch dissagree if you want but id rather play downing and ye it is about giving the younger ones some game time but surely that should mean downing atleast start over ash young who also been doo doo STEMLOCC1

My god Chamberlain was one of England's better players against France and he's what 18? For an 18 year old to be holding his own on an intensely pressurised situation like the Euro's for England is quite remarkable. I think you need to have a proper watch of the matches rather than just the highlights mate.
KiwiRed

You're an idiot, Ox had a much better season then downing and played about third of the minutes. Grow up. CQ

Haha you could see downing looking so mad when ox came off high fiving everybody and downings just sitting their arms crossed pouting thinking dam why cant I be ox

Having a pop at ox? I bet your one of the ones who wants our youngsters to play next year as well... What happens if they don't do great in 3 games ?

G BOX

Are you sure you not downing himself , because your the only person who thinks downing is better than the OX , or just maybe your kenny , who thought downing was better than he first thought and decided to make him into an attacking midfielder with licence to roam and shoot , pity he never scored even though he was the player with the most shots at goal in the prem last season

Why are so many Liverpool fans so focused in the past? The past 18 months have be full of fans wanting the past to come back. Kenny was back at manager, then when he got fired people want Rafa to come back. Torres wasn't playing well at Chelsea and people ha rumors of him coming back to Anfield. Now there are 3 posts every day if Xani Alonso is coming back to Merseysode. We have to move forward as reds fans. All of these guys were great stewards of the game in a red jersey but try are the past. We all need to look forward to the future of the club. Let's look forward to the future with the new manager, a few new signings and the introduction of some of the kids from the youth system. I'm proud of the past and proud to be a reds fant nit I'm excited for the future too.

Wow...I can't type on my phone but you all get the idea.

I agree about needing to look forward, but at the same time, isn't it right that we want to correct mistakes from the past few years.
I am 100% behind BR and hopes he does well, but I would have loved to have had Rafa return. He should not have been sacked when he was.
I would also love to have Alonso back in the team. He should never have been sold. Read the Epic Swindle book and you will see it was mostly the fault of H&G.
Torres should still be playing in the red shirt alongside Suarez. You can't deny that while he was with us he was awesome.

Good post, could not have said it any better.

Mos

Another rafa fan living in the past , did you not read the 1st post , rafa won the champs league with houlliers squad , alonso left because of rafa wanting barry who also played in the same position as alonso , even paco rafas mate who came with him left because of rafa , and you realy cant blame that on H&G , rafa is a dictator who screws up at every club because he wants billions to spend on the likes of degen , his wages i mean , if rafa was that good all the top clubs would be after him , and he would not be unemployed , look at what happed at inter , oj yea i forgot he had injured players , just like any other mortal manager who deals with it , but the fact is no matter how much you gave rafa it would never ever be enough

Have you not read 'An Epic Swindle'??? Put a lot of stuff into perspective.
Yes Rafa won the Champions League with mainly Houlliers team, but he made additions to that squad and won the competition that Houllier couldn't.
Can easily blame Alonso on H&G. Again do some research. just because you are a Rafa hater doesn't mean I'm wrong.

Hi eds, just wanted to say tht it cracks me up wen I see ppl getting excited about players who play against England. I knew for a fact tht ppl wud be asking u if tht lad from Ukraine on the left wing is on LFC radar. I knew about him a while back just b4 the tournament started and it was so predictable tht certain fans wud get excited after seeing a glimpse..
Who do u believe to be realistic this summer anyway? Do u believe we have a decent chance of munian? Thanks alot! {Ed001's Note - I can't see Muniain leaving Bilbao for a team that doesn't have a realistic shot at winning the Champions League. Impossible to say who is realistic, there are many players we could realistically attract, but how many of them would Brendan Rodgers want?}

Hi all Ed's&fellow red's....Does anyone know where&what is Pako is doing now?Such a pity him and Rafa fell out...Cheer's.

He works in Dubai doing some coaching work. but his wife (who is expecting) still lives in Hoylake off Meols Drive

RedJuggernaut {Ed016's Note - Rafa also lives just off of the Caldy roundabout. Used to see him a fair amount on the Wirral}

Would love to see pako back

In the excitement about Sigurdsson and the summer window, let's not forget we'll have Lucas back soon.

If he can get anything like the form he had when he got injured, he'll be the first name on the team sheet next season. What a player- I can see top clubs coming in to try and poach him in summer 2013.

Lucas vs Man City 27/11/11

He'll be like a new signing for us. Can believe how much we missed him. I've always wondered how many headers does he win a game? The premiere CDM in the league for me. Thanks for the link mate.

Amazing what a couple of years can do...this was a guy we (myself included) used to consider the laughing stock of the Benitez era. How far he has come...good on him.

Gerrard,Sigurdsson lucas will be a really strong midfield if carroll carrys on in good form then defenders will be in for a hard time our defence is one of the best in the prem already and not forgetting suarez
so lets just back the team because as everyone knows liverpool fans are the best on the planet(THE 12TH MAN)

eds or any1 who knows,

i notice in euro 12, and in world cup 10 actually that the jerseys that players wear, have some sort of big 'x' marking behind their jerseys sort of transparent in colour. im not sure if u get what im pointing at, but ive seen this in euro n in world cup, but never in any clubs jerseys, what is that? is that some sort of jersey technology?

Kaizer

Im sure bayern have it on there jerseys. STEMLOCC1

Yea its some sort of performance technology from Adidas. It isn't available on the replica kits, but you can buy match accurate kits from Adidas for about twice the price that do have the x on the back. Apparently, they fit very tight and are not very comfortable for the every day supporter.

Yeah its meant to work the same as those muscle plasters you see the players wearing by compressing the muscle it works better and less likely to get injured.

Kopping a feel

Thanks guys, i always thought i was seeing things. lol but i am pretty sure i did see a real x, so had to ask.

I know this is aint LFC related but just wanted to know other's opinions (including you ed) is it just me or is milner the most overrated piece of crap to ever play for england...I have not seen him do one good thing over the past 3 games, all I've seen is him losing the ball time and time again... Do not have a clue why some people on here would want him to come to liverpool... Just my opinion by the way so if you disagree that's fine. {Ed001's Note - not the worst, he is far better than Young, who is just a waste of air on the left. Milner is a Hodgson type of player, works his backside off and gets back to help out in the 8 man defence England are deploying in the Euros.}

I have got to say that England are the most negative team in the Euros. They play the worst football, and if they went on to win the competition it would be a slap in the face to the beautiful game. Don't get me wrong I will get behind them ,but I'm being honest it's awful to watch. I mean the football under Capello was pretty poor, but under Woy it's dreadful.

Elmo96

Elmo understand your post we are not the most attractive team but doing well but you spoilt your post with the "woy" comment.
why do we have to pick on the guys speech impediment, one thing LFC suffered for last season was the furore caused by suarez and that incident we as fans do not need to pick on/ make fun of peoples shortcomings and learn that not all people are perfect (unlike you obviously are) and that if you wish to criticise his tactics,team performance or selection thats fine as he is in that job but not to slate him because he cannot pronounce his r's.
as LFC fans we need to accept we are a world wide club who are supported by all walks of life from many cultures religions and disabilities and to use these as a source of amusement is unacceptable to me and many others so please refrain from the like

sorry for the rant and not just aimed at you Elmo but i am sick of the easy shot at Roy - and i am not his biggest fan but he deserves respect as a man, maybe not the greatest manager we or england have ever had but he is certainly educated and dignified and should be treated as such as he treats others which is more of a measure of the MAN than his speech impediment

bigg2966

I agree with elmo, watching England is so negative it's embarrassing, half the time there playing 6 players in defence, but after watching such a poor negative side win the CL I wouldn't be surprised if England won the euros

Hi Eds & Reds,

I seen earlier that LFC are coming to Northern Ireland later in the Summer, do you know if they have any plans to come to the Republic like a couple of years of ago when played Bohemians and west cork side Dunmanway Town, I know it was the reserves but the Dunmanway ground which had temporary seating had about 5000 people there. I remember seeing Chris Mavinga getting skint numerous times by the Dunmanway Town winger and Pacecho stuck one in the top corner from a free for a Liverpool victory

Brendan Rodgers wants Liverpool to play attacking football that is 'full of imagination' - but he insists the Reds won't try to copy Barcelona.

Some observers labelled the 39-year-old's former club Swansea 'the Barcelona of the Premier League'.

Even his players referred to how they were being asked to play as Tiki-Taka, a style associated with the Catalan giants.

But Rodgers insists Liverpool do not need to emulate anyone.

"The way I want to play here is the Liverpool way," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "The history and tradition of this club has been about offensive football, attacking football - but always with discipline.

"The game will be based around what Liverpool are about, which is control, dominating games with the ball, working very hard when you haven't got the ball, and keeping the game as simple as possible.

"Of course I'll bring in a certain philosophy which I'm attached to, but the principles of your game are based around the players.

"I suppose the Tiki-Taka football has come from Barcelona and that Spanish version. It probably came up with the players at Swansea, who referred to it a lot in our training and our work on having the ball and resting on the ball."

Resting on the ball means you work as hard as possible to recover possession when it is lost, only resting once the ball is back in control.

Regardless of all the above, though, Rodgers knows that winning is the most important principle for any Liverpool manager.

"It doesn't matter if it's Tiki-Taka football or possession football - the supporters and all of us want winning football. That's what the philosophy will be about.

"It will be about playing attractive, attacking football full of imagination. For me the best thing about the game other than scoring goals is having the football, and that'll be the idea and the fundamentals we'll work on - but they are playing ultimately to win.

"We're in the business of winning and hopefully we can entertain along the way."

Rodgers is already at Melwood preparing for 2012-13 but will have to wait until early July to start working with his new squad.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he added. "My natural environment is the training field. I enjoy working with players, I enjoy trying to help educate them and make them better on and off the field.

"The players have had quite a rest. The players in the Euros and whatnot, or the players who go to the Olympics - their pre-season will be a little bit broken this year. But I'm really looking forward to seeing the players who come back in early July and getting the ball out on the green grass."
Just thought i'd let you know :)

im sorry but wayne rooney is th most hyped piece of **** ever. hes not a bad player. media is just up his ass

He had a poor game. Yet he still managed to score the winner.

Overhyped yes (Pele? seriously?) - but he is a very good player - on his day he can be world-class - but unfortunately 'his day' doesn't arrive every week - and sometimes 'his day' doesn't appear for months at a time.

He has never had the consistency to be compared with the great strikers.

He's no Batistuta, Ravanelli, Henry or Vialli just to name a few examples. He's no Litmanen, Shearer or Raul either. He is just too inconsistent. But these were great players.

As for players like Pele, Messi, & Ronaldo (either one) - they are on another planet to Rooney.

BJH YNWA (He's still the best striker England have though. Imo he seems to let the media get to him, both with England and and in his private life. I reckon that's what is holding him back from finding consistency. He may never shake this mental block - imo that's the only thing stopping him from moving to the next level - in terms of finding consistency and becoming a truly world-class footballer.)

have to say your boy STEVIE G was fantastic again tonight..
malaga gooner

Stevie G has had to do everything so far in the tournament, except maybe carry the drinks. He's the primary creator, the primary midfielder and at times, been the primary defender. Just give him the goalie gloves too! GB

I believe the legend that is Ken Aguero is on his way to LFC this summer, its BR style of Tic Tacs football that is twisting Ken's arm. The 'freshness' that the style brings to the squad is appealing.

The only drawback is that Ken is currently sleeping with Slur Alex Baconface's wifes dogs chefs sister and it may cause friction between the clubs.

He was touted as coming to us a couple of seasons ago for a few packs of scampi fries and a case of beer, but back then H&G did not back us in the transfer market. This time FSG have offered Ken, wait for it, an unlimited Cash and Carry loyalty card....

YNWA JFT96

Sealed deal?

The Don :)

Never before has a dead horse been so severely flogged. The Ken jokes were mildly amusing in 2009 but that is where they should stay.

Reina gk
Johnson rb
Skrtel cb
Agger cb
Enrique lb
Carragher dm
Gerrard cm
Lucas cm
Suarez rw
Carroll st
Downing lw

Happy :D id play carra sweeper just in front back four shouting them out and intercepting play he'd be our anchor! Anyone agree?

Why would u want Carra to play CDM when Lucas can do awesome job over there. Its just not about being anchor and also be able to keep possession with quick feet and most importantly develop another attack which requires good vision and passing ability. Right now the system we are going to use, even the central defenders should be able to that.

With all due respect Carra is a LFC legend but he can't pass s**t. The only thing he could do once he retrieved the ball is kick it out for opposition throw in or straight ball to opposition GK. He just should be a 4th choice CB for us who should only play in cup games and Europa.

Well done Stevie G. England's best player by a mile and one of the best in the tournament so far BUT how the hell did England get out of that group never mind win it by the way they have played??? Their football has been brutal but maybe their name is on it this time, certainly getting the luck. Might be worth a score on them!! Hope they stay in for another while to keep the interest up over here because we were a disgrace. Anyway good luck to England, we supporting you from over here.

Three goal assists so far...hope he gets another one or two against Italy coz it will be much needed...

Hi eds. I know you've answered this many a time, but i personally believe Krasic is what we need. Also can you please explain what you mean by Doumbia's problem with his age? dont think he's any good anyway

Thanks
RossTheRed {Ed001's Note - there are a number of doubts regarding his real age being different from his stated age.}

Are you actually being serious ed? Never heard thst before

GawaRed {Ed001's Note - yes, there are a number of players whose given dates are not necessarily correct, Nwankwo Kanu springs to mind. A number of African sides were banned from youth competitions for fielding players that were much older than claimed. It is very difficult to find out their true age, small villages don't have accurate records kept, like we would get in the UK, in many areas of the world.}

Roger Miller being the most famous example...maybe George Weah?

Terrible West was another

Best player at euro 12, u not seen gerrard lead England? 3 games 3 assists, pin point passing dominating defence leading by example as ever?!

2nd place goes to Glen Johnson for me. Outstanding tourney he's having.

Stevie the best player on the park by a mile.

I know one game doesn't make a man so to speak, but Yarmelenko from Ukraine has got to be considered as a possible target

Because he had a decent game? What's next, his you tube profile?

So one game doesn't make a man, but it is perfectly alright for him to become a target after it though? Genius.

DownUnderRed.

To be fair he's played well in all 3 games I think but would still prefer Muniain, Adam Johnson or Sturridge

hi eds what do you think of andriy yarmelenko as
a) a player
b)as a possible transfer target?
c)is louis saha a free agent and a target? {Ed001's Note - a) alright technically, but I have not seen enough to judge him in a proper match, instead of international footie, where everyone stands off and gives you time. b) nope c) yes and no, not a chance in hell.}
