Hey eds. getting very close till the end of the window. Been loads of speculation about players coming but nothing happening at all. Has that Teixeria signed? Who do uu think the payer is from Inter Milan that Macca is on about? Seems a bit crap to me that Newcastle have signed a good forward but we cant. U got anymore info on signings? If we want to get into champions leage we need some pretty decent players, midfield isnt good enough and neither is the frontline, apart from suarez. Cheers

Udinese RB/RW Isla to Liverpool. Fee around 15 Million Euros. TBA next two days.

Andy-LFC

Mauricio Isla? i hope you're right, he is honestly one of the most versatile footballers i've seen. Plays on the right these days but he used to be a defensive midfielder until his managers at udine and chile realised his potential when getting forward.

Red7. {Ed001's Note - I really like Isla, he looks a very good footballer, very much suited to quick passing football.}

Any interest in isla frm liverpool ed? Wud be a class signing, plus wud solve our right wing problems.
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - Isla is really a wing back and there may well be interest in him as a replacement for Glen Johnson.}

Hi guys just thought id report the latest from the Uruguayan press, everyone in Urugay is reporting that Suarez to Real Madrid is a done deal but for 38 million euros?? I cant see us selling him so cheap to be honest so doubt the validity of the stories but the caveat is that the whole of the Uruguayan press are running with the story? My girlfriends father who as you will remember from my previous posts works in the Uruguyan FA is in the dark himself so this gives me some cause for relief so im hoping this is media claptrap...Please dont castigate me im only reporting what is being reported in Uruguay as my girlfriends reads the papers there online every morning! By the way Ramirez definitely not going to the scum..More news when I get it...Miami_Red

Three cheers for Ramirez

How many gilfriends do you hav ya greedy git

I heard he was joining Manchester Utd on a free.

Fed up of all the BS about Lennon, Defoe, Granero, Kaka, Bent etc.

If we sign anyone it wont be nothin major, especially lennon & defoe! Why would Spurs want to sell crucial players in their squad that they are competing for top 4 with? Especially to a rival club.

No logical thinkin is goin on at all, few youngsters and maybe a squad player or 2 and nobody knows who they are so get off twitter an support your club no matter who comes in

RedHawk

Forgive me, but I think you are the deluded one. In what capacity are we competing with Tottenham? They look guaranteed to finish far ahead of us. I really don't think they would mind selling us Defoe and/or Lennon, especially if it allowed Harry to add a better player to his squad. Tottenham have shown over the past few seasons that they have a far superior scouting group than Liverpool. Modric, Vandervaart, Bale, Adebayor, etc. And from what I can gather, they purchased at far lower prices than we have spent on our squad. I am an LFC fan to the core, but you have to admit that they have done wonders at Tottenham in a few years. That being said, I don't think we will purchase any of their players.

Thought it was commoli that got bale and modric for them. And adabyor is only on loan, spurs can't afford to buy him wis wages are huge.

Spurs are at the peak of their cycle, I would prefer Liverpool's 08 /09eak cycle I.e. Mashcerano, Gerrard, Alonso, Torres (when he was the best). Over modric, VDV, Ade, bale. Red owl

I just had a talk with a fellow liverpool supporter who was saying that kenny dalglish isn't a good manager and that he inherited that great team and left when we were on the way down. He says that it's proof that he is by signing players like downing, carroll, henderson and adam who are not liverpool players and nowhere good enoughto be at liverpool. I just wanted to know your thoughts on that please ed?

Daniel hanwell

He did sign barnesy, beardsley, Aldo, houghton & McMahon.

Not a bad effort....

A couple of titles.....

Enrique has been first class. Hendo will be a very good player. And if we get behind him we will reap the reward. Downing needs to settle and needs to be wide left for a run of games. Adam still has a question mark.

Dirks Engine Room

My thought is your mate is a tw@t! and more than that you listen to him! Then to top it off you come and post it ....numpty!
K79

Pmsl, Keep up the great work....

I was asking ed for his opinion not you mate. Also my opinion is far from his. I still believe in Dalglish and all his signings. I think those mentioned are good enough squad players and were in only 3-4! Players away from challenging for the title. I totally disagree with fans who say adam is not a Liverpool player for many reasons such as when compared to cm's in the top 4 he is on my team sheet preferably to there cms.

Daniel Hanwell {Ed001's Note - Adam still seems a bit overawed for me, hopefully he will get over it in time and relax a bit.}

Daniel, surely you will have learned that any negative talk about Kenny in any capacity is blasphemy on this site. Most fans on here are like evangelical christians. Blind faith.

Nothing to do with blind faith. He's had a year and we are better than a year ago and playing attractive football......which means he's doing just fine so why would a Liverpool supporter criticise him. There is no reason to slate KK at all so of course the real supporters get defensive.

cozinoz

Rush sold to Juve for 3.2million and with that he bought Aldridge, Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton with change left over. Kenny knows. McMahon was bought by Fagan. I know this was in the 80's but the man knows what he's doin. To be honest we don't really know who's buyin the players now do we?! Dalglish or comolli/FSG.

I wish that all you so called lfc fans would get of the managers and players backs and start getting behind them and supporting them!and thos who domnt think we have moved on from last season need a to F##K off this red men site for good!!

I have this feeling that 75% of trash talking Liverpool is by other fans....I for one hope ed's fix this one day. If I am wrong shame on you so call fans!

Dear "King" Kenny

My name is Steven Spielberg, the famous Hollywood Director and Producer.

As you may be aware, I have just released my new film, War Horse. It's a real tear-jerker, and I am keen to start working on a sequel, and I need your help.

The sequel will be a comedy called Cart Horse! It's about a dope who pays 35m for what his expert eye considered to be a thoroughbred, when in fact all he bought was a nag!

With the economy how it is, the film studio won't give me the funds to use a real horse to star in my new film, so, with Liverpool's players being renowned for their acting ability, I have identified a couple of your players who would be ideal to play the front and back-end of a pantomime horse.

Because of their natural attributes, I have identified Mr Suarez to play the front end, so we won't need to invest in huge false horse teeth, and Mr Adam to play back-end, which would save us buying posterior padding due to, shall we say, obvious reasons. (I did consider Micah Richards, but he would need a corset to play the arse-end of an Elephant, let alone a Horse!)

I have also got my eye on another two of your actors, I mean players, if I decide to make a sequel to E.T.! Banjo Shelvey and Dick Kite look like freaky, weird looking aliens without the need of any make-up whatsoever!

Thanks for your support.

Stevie S
C/O Sir Alex x

PS As I am a famous Hollywood Director and Producer, I naturally know little about football, but I noted against Stoke you played the whole game with a back three and 2 wing-backs. Your team only created one solitary attempt on target in the whole game, and yet you didn't change this system, even just to try something different! If I wasn't a famous Hollywood Director and Producer who knows nothing about football, I would be inclined to question your judgement, not only with the players you have bought, but your substitution of Downing for Carroll in this game, together with your lack of tactical flexibility, but what do I know!

This is very good. I wish I had the time to spend coming up with such epics, but I have a job and friends.

Dirks Engine Room

PS how many times did you reread/write til you were truly satisfied?

Spec savers.....or sh*te savers?

This guy who keeps postin as Sir Alex is actualy a grade A t**t, why he has so much time on his hands to even bother postin is beyond me, i see he slags off Liverpool, i look at the name and then i move on, its not even worth the time to bother with it, maybe banter, but theres banter then there's jus windin people up!

So sad for this lad alex he actually thinks he's clever and also funny. Tip for you little boy let adults and funny people do humour!
Can you magine this clown in front of king kenny he'd have a face as red as fergies nose. Ahh bless what a childish prat he is.

Thanks for animating the obvious. However, if the tactic had worked Kenny would have been a genius. Unfortunately, it did not work. What was I getting at?

Dick Kite? Grow up, ffs. Banter is good but childish name-twisting is probably best kept in your classroom rather than embarrassing yourself here

Hi eds do u think kenny is gonna bring a striker up from the reserves it's doing my head in dat nothings happening with us getting a striker I think we need one if we want to finish 4th Carroll hasn't even shown signs of getting better kenny should give Morgan a shot Bolton have a weak defence wat a great time for a player to shine

Any thoughts on Joe Allen from Swansea eds/Macca/other posters? Haven't seen much of him this season, but looking at Swansea's stats he seems decent. Would he be LFC standard and what we need?

Yes. Or at least he will be. Whether or not we need him is a different matter, but he'd be great to have for the years to come.

i am a liverpool fan and i love the club. i dont care what anyone says the current crop of players are good enough. i don't like the way they get hammered after one average performance. i just want something to get exited about and it doesnt have to be another multimillion pound signing. i just want to see some younger playerrs get a shot such as eccleston and morgan and coady. sterling may or may not be ready but i just want players to get excited about

20 Jan 2012 22:06:57
according to stephen1martin (twitter) LFC was looking at a loan deal for Quagliarella which failed and are currently negotiating with D.Texeira 9to buy him due to a failed loan approach). Yes i know its twitter but this guy doesnt just post crap, he is accurate. The reason why i find this interesting is because Quagliarella is 28, and everyone is on about how we want to sign younger players, maybe Kenny is looking for experience as well as a prospect as some have suggested.

20 Jan 2012 22:01:04
I know this is a transfers rumours site, but I genuinely don't care about what big name we're buying next. I'm also not particularly bothered about how much we spend, I prefer to leave that to the Tottenham and City "fans" who pretend that they aren't a flash in the pan and have a right to be where they are (Tottenham fans forget that their club has been one of the worst clubs for producing talent for several years, my Dad was involved in the Academy of a top club therefore I know what a shambles they are).

The reason I am concerned is that if some of our players were at a club like Arsenal they would be trusted and be good enough.

Kelly, Robinson, Flanno have all stepped up, but let's trust our homegrown flair players (Pacheco's attitude let him down) and save ourselves some money, we won't need to spend money on youth because the youth will only play for us, knowing they've got a great chance at a huge club.

If Fabregas was a Liverpool player would he have made the breakthrough so soon and become the player he was and now is ? I'm not so sure. Obviously I welcome feedback from my fellow Liverpool fans, and the ed's because yours are the views that matter.

The Wizards Sleeve {Ed001's Note - Fabregas would have got a chance for us, he was too good to leave out. Gerrard has shown if you are good enough you will get your chance.}

Ed001 - maybe. True about Gerrard, do you think we have the talent to break through into the 1st team ? I personally do.

Suso is some player, that reminds me of David Silva and he can unlock a defence like Stoke, who just want 10 behind the ball - would love to see him play.

Wizards sleeve makes some great points in his post about the current squad and the talent coming through you have to give youth a chance other wise what is the use of spending millions on academies rafa was right when he said there should be feeder team so the talent have the chance to gain experiance for the first team and now chelsea manager AVB is saying the same funny how it is managers who are not British who are asking for this and not British managers is it because in their countrys who seem to produce more talent than us they have this system in place or because this country is blinkered Liverpool Fc are buying up the best talent they can but with out opportunitys to go past reserve team football the money spent will be a complete waste which could of been spent on a first team player danny pecheco may of had an attitude but was this through frustration in not being given his chance when the club were signing players like voronon or what ever his name was by the way the players Kenny has given a chance in the first team are all british IMO to me the best three players in the prem this season are david villa , modric , kompany

20 Jan 2012 21:51:12
hey eds,not a rumour just a suggestion..i wouldnt mind if we didnt sign a striker.i'd rather give adam morgan a chance with sub appearances for remainder of season.take kuyt out of bench along wit maxi and put in sterling or suso to learn premier league experience..its a risk but we're creating enough chances per game to turn season around.they're meant to be the future of our club......ynwa

Yes, i agree, give them a taste!

Then if he performs poorly and can't keep up right away he can learn to cope with all the negative comments and general abuse that Hendo and Andy have to put up with... 3 dodgy games and some of the idiots around here will be adding him to the deadwood list without giving him the time he'd need to shine.

Aaron Lennon?, we'd have a better chance at signing John Lennon, and if i'm honest, he'd probably whip in better crosses.

I assume you are drunk or joking. If this was an attempt at humor, it is painfully unfunny. I believe all of it, but really, Spearing? You really think Kenny would let the wee man go on loan?

I dont mean to be a whiner because i fully support the team and Kenny ........ but sometimes I dont understand where he's coming from in terms of his tactics and signings.

We still need a serious revamp of the playing personel. I DONT even think Suarez is quite as good as he's hyped to be, quality player dont get me wrong but far to often he puts chances into the stand, he needs to score more goals as Carroll certainly isnt getting any at the moment.

Players like Downing (Not even an average player imo) and Adam (game by game getting worse) are not players that can help us build for the future. If its true the likes of Honda and M'Vila are going to Lazio and Inter for the prices quoted then I seriously think Comolli and others who deal with transfers need to sort themselves out with the money we pay out on players who do nothing more than make up the numbers.

If we dont get a result tommorow questions need to be asked.

Lets hope for a good game !

JP

I totally agree. If we win we can start booking those tickets for Europe. If we lose, we can sack the King, the board.......

Or we can see the long term and acknowledge that there will be great signings and not so great.

Bolton are not great at home and I personally fancy us for 3 points and 3 goals with a Carroll brace. I'll ring the travel agent....
Dirks Engine Room

We've spent over £100 million and as far as i can tell only 2 players are worth a start on their current forms this season (Suarez, Enrique). Those 2 combined cost less than £30 million, so that to me is £70 million wasted pretty much on average players who cannot make the step up to where we want to be, that is not sound business is it ? So lets think of it long term like you say, can we sustain that type of expenditure on players who dont perform ?

I also never once said about sacking Dalglish, check what i said i think you may need to visit your opticians if you think otherwise.

I DO however think many of our fans need to crawl out of his backside, great player, brilliant man and a great servant to the club but everyone wears blinkers at times when it comes to him.

.............. But thats just my opinion !

JP

It is wasted on you. The glass is not even half full....you don't have a glass....You don't even have a table to put glass on.

Dirks Engine Room

PS. I never said you suggested you thought we should sack the King. I did. No, that's too easy.... Shame on me.

I love this site but most of the fans who post are either deluded or imbeciles, i am not sure which one you may or may not fall under

The team havent been getting the results they should and as a fan i have the right to say what i like just like you do

JP

JP,

You are a negative fan mate. I am neither delusional or an imbecile. I look at the side and try to positive.

You "don't mean to be whiner" but you are clearly are. Hunt a positive comment....

You are totally entitled to your opinion as a supporter, but remember what supporting a side is all about.

How many sides go to Etihad and get a result? Home form is not great but we are still up there with a reasonable run in.

Dirks Engine Room

I do agree to an extent Dirk but ask another question... how many sides come to anfield and leave with points they shouldn't?

This is an area that needs solving, and quickly. Our away form is a huge positive. An early goal would always help the players and the crowd. However, we are not of the mix and this could be a huge weekend for us.

If they offered 6.5 I'd take it

Of course I would and we'd be mad not too. He will be a great player but sadly I can't ever see him fitting our style.

Personally I would hold onto him just to prove each and every one of you media following tits wrong.....a bit like ......what was his name? .....Lucas.....YNWA....remember those words and think about them (if you can)......long and hard, then look in the mirror and see what you have become! Fans my a*se sound like manc to me any of you want a prawn sandwich?!

@K79 you were probably one of the ones slagging Lucas off pal give it a rest

I wud offer qpr cash to take carrol. he is not gonna make the grade here, thats pretty much obvious.
Indian Buzzer {Ed016's Note - incorrect}

Personally I have never slagged off Lucas.....nor I believe any Liverpool player....I did, at a couple of England games, sing with all my voice 'stand up if you hate Man U' that and Steve McClaren are the only people I have slagged off and both were part of me being a England/Liverpool fan. I try to look deeper than the surface at a game of football, and sign you post please next time 'mate'!
K79

That were Luxury!
For Andy Carroll to move to QPR,
I'd - get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when I got home, I'd have our Dad kill me, and dance about on my grave singing "Hallelujah."

But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.

After the comments from "Mr" Barton re the manager that signed him and gave him the captaincy do we need any other indication thta he is and never was an LFC player? If I recall correctly, he also thought he was better than Gerrard.

kappa red

Not a cat in hells chance, your living in fantasy land kappa red. Not only is there a lack of finance but Kenny is doing everything in his power to sort Carrolls confidence issue, bringing in another striker would contradict this and only serve to compound the problem. Where would it leave a £35 mill asset?

Ozone

It's a fine balance Ozone mate. Maybe an extra face could give the side a little lift, take the pressure off. You can feel the anxiousness of the players in front of goal. They're almost trying too hard to score. A few more goals would maybe like a pressure valve being released.
But equally, your point is valid. Work hard and put it right with what you have. The sense of achievement and the boost that would bring to team spirit and confidence in their team mates would be significant.
The Real KB

I have a gut feeling that KK will buy an attacking player , and Hoilett is the man ,
Redforever {Ed016's Note - Would be nice, but I think he will just wait till the summer if no one else goes in for him now. Get him on a free}

Am sure blackburn just signed a forward on loan , it could mean that they might leave one player go , just hoping ,
redforever

You know my feelings on Carroll the real kb mate but I'd love it if Kenny didn't buy anyone this window and managed somehow to work his magic with the lad and turned things around.

I here what your saying about another striker and I agree. I just feel getting the best out of what he has and consolidating the dressing room is classic Kenny.

Ozone

100%. Thanks. Now I am excited. I wasn't sure who from that list was coming so I put all the names in a bag and drew out.....guess who! Fernando Torres! Hope he can make it to Bolton for game tomorrow. He is going to link up well with Kaka.

Eds,
Surely all these people questioning why we haven't gone in for Honda etc must be either oblivious to how football works or are as arrogant as their post suggest. Don't get me wrong I would love Honda as a player but has it crossed anyone's mind that we might have already been in for him and were told no, maybe he has made it clear that he isn't interested or doesn't want to come to England, maybe kk doesn't want him for what ever reason.
People need to understand that yes we are Liverpool but without the lure of champs league we will not always be able
To lure any player suggested.
Inthink we should all be thankful and remember where we were before the new owners came in, the trap door could really have opened and we would be really in the mire.
Fsg have put plenty of money into our club, mot of it behind the scenes paying for previous bad ownership/management.

People say we're going backwards are talking rubbish, we have made massive steps forward. The results will come and so will the goals, just be patient and give the club some room to develop.
Sorry for the long post eds it's just getting awfully negative on here of late.

Great post mate, As KK States, we have to be patient. We are the greatest fans in the world, Therefore we should be behind every man in a red shirt, Things cant get any worse than what our club has been through, Only better...YNWA..

I'm amazed how many so called fans have forgotten the state our club was in before KK took over!!
We were firmly planted in the bottom half of the table, KK has come in and steadied the ship.
KK, DC and the board have made long term plans, it's not going to happen over night! As we are the greatest fans in the world we should start acting like it and get behind our club rather than continuously taking pot shots! Grow Up for Gods Sake!

In KK we trust! YNWA

PS You can tell that there has been an increase of fake fans making comments because of the replies the Ed's are having to make! The Ed's do a fantastic job to keep us up to date with the latest info and answering our questions! if it's not informative, if it's a waste of time , Don't bother posting!!

Hi eds
My first time input on this site, although i am always on it.
I think KD is doing the right thing by not panic buying.
We have some very talented youngsters in reserve and in the past these youngers have gone on to become some of the best players in the premiership.
Remember fowler, Gerard, carragher, Owen.
I also think we need to give these new signings some time, let them gel and enjoy playing, they can't do that if their own fans keep putting them down, we get enough negativity from the press and media who are always quick to give us bad feedback but never quick to praise us when we provide some of the most memorable nights in football. Players read what is said ..... Stick with it. Damo ynwa
What do you think eds ? {Ed001's Note - I still remember the days when players we brought in would spend a couple of years in the reserves before getting a chance in the first team. It used to take them years to adapt to our way of playing, I am sure it will take players time now. It is not easy to change your style of playing completely, we need to give them time and backing.}

There's loads of ex-Everton players that played in our reserves ed001 !
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - true, some that took them to league titles as well.}

True. Kevin Sheedy for one ed.
I would say we missed out there but a certain young Ronnie Whelan kept him out.

Hi eds, please post !
i see with sow now likely signing for fernabache and honda lazio im surprised and frustrated we havent made any hint of a move. both young proven players for around 25 million combined. i know that is a lot but compared to carroll ! these are two players who could make a difference. especially sow who i read even when agreeing terms with fernabache had his heart set on liverpool.
i will always back kenny 100% but my confidence in his decision making is starting to waver. eds any opinions? thanks for the great site ! {Ed001's Note - I trust in Kenny to make the right decisions for the club and its future. If he decides those two players are not the right ones to take us forwards, then I believe him.}

20 Jan 2012 19:17:59
I think Downing hasn't had anything to aim at all year! Have you seen how many balls have been played across the 6 yard box with not one player there!

Those goals a bread and butter goals!! Downing needs somee strikers who are going to be where they should be!

I agree with you mate. this is our biggest problem

Glad to see the Eds delete rainfish....whatever hes calleds post. Lowest of the low, wasn't my place to comment as a Chelsea fan so left it to you lot. Come back on to see the reactions and from what i gather its been deleted, should be the last time we ever hear from him. Absolute disgrace, embarrassment, even the United fans must be embarrassed to class him as a fellow fan.

suso on the bench tomorrow .

gee man

Id be really surprised if he was as he has been away playing for Spain.

20 Jan 2012 18:42:29
After seeing David Silva go to City and be a top top performer, after Liverpool fans were calling for him for three years straight it hurts, but to lose out on Honda for £14 million to Lazio would be just as criminal for me, he's a very gifted footballer, he has a massive market in Japan and he's going for a cheap price considering it's January and also being the fact that it's £8 million less than Downing cost us.

Liverpool knapping on the job?
No financial support from FSG?
Either Comolli and/or Kenny Dalglish are incapable of delivering ''World Class signings'' ? (Although Suarez and Enrique show this is not true).

Andy Carroll cost Liverpool £35 million and has become a joke among rival fans.

Sow and Honda would equal £24 million and are huge profiles in their respective Countries and Continents.

Why have we started going backwards apart from Enrique and Suarez which accounts for £30 million from the £100 million Kenny has spent Eds? {Ed005's Note - Going backwards? Have you been on middle earth for the past year? What an absolute idiot.}

There should be a agree & disagree button!

I think Honda would have been good but you don't know, maybe he doesn't want to play in the prem... Sow, don't know much about but from what you say it does seem a better option...

Going backwards - No
Need a bit more invest in first 11 - at the moment yes.

Van der Vaart is the one we should have signed, he's the main reason Tottenham are where they are. Northern Git {Ed001's Note - I would say Modric is the main reason personally.}

Enrique is class, a a Toon fan I can vouch for this, but as luck should have it Santon is world class! left foot right foot... lol and that Demba Ba, he is a legend! Caroll lol enough said about him... Liverpool need to get their cash out. You lot should really be in for Adam Johnson and yes Honda, he should have come to the Prem years ago.

20 Jan 2012 18:40:18
Ed

have you heard any rumours about milos krasic as I have liked an official lfc website and it quotes that we have joined the chase with tottemham for a deal . Have you heard anything {Ed005's Note - Read previous posts regarding Krasic.}

20 Jan 2012 18:25:50
Juventus winger Milos Krasic is the subject of loan bids from Liverpool, ED do you think this is possible considering the aqualani deal i think he would be a great addition to the squad and help to get that top 4 spot {Ed005's Note - Nothing to do with the Aquilani deal at all. And read previous posts regarding Krasic.}

20 Jan 2012 18:12:30
Question for you eds,
With all these quality players that we are missing out on( who are affordable but not British) do you think dalglish and comolli are up for the job to take us forward?
I'm prepared to see were we are at the end of the season but honestly am getting increasingly worried on how things are going.
Steve {Ed019's Note - People need to calm down. They haven't even had one full season to themselves yet, and the players still need to gel. How many times have you seen Carroll, Suarez and Gerrard play together? I think they are more than up for it, people just need to stop moaning and support the team}

Well said Ed019!!!
K79

What I mean is FSG has set minimum target of 4th for CL, so with quality signings I can't see this happening.
Also how long do the players need to gel?
Steve

Go and fret in your corner Steve

20 Jan 2012 18:06:36
Feel quite frustrated that Lfc aren't competing for the likes of Honda. Okay FSG want to sign young players with potentional resale value and the club as I gather have been asked that at least 4th in the table is the main target. But if we don't approach these players (Honda, Sow) as it stands they have no hope of finishing there. It's like a catch 22, Lfc really need to add options to their attack. No new player(s) to help get 4th equals no CL equals back to square one. Time is running out, I know it's work in progress but think about it, Steven Gerrard isn't getting any younger and how badly did the squad need him when he was injured. Lfc and the fans can't gone on and rely on Gerrard for ever! Sorry for the rant just needed to get that off my chest. It's sad when you see exciting players like Honda (realistic Liverpool targets) going else where for rumoured fees that LFC can afford. Plus imagine the Japanese fan base growing and buying shirts! Are you reading FSG..$$..?..$$$

Lol it would be funnier if he really hadn't scored in the prem yet.

Good luck to charles and di would be more like it,

20 Jan 2012 17:39:11
I would like to ask a question and I hope anyone of the ed's can answer it for me. Is regarding Maxi. This player is a clever player with pace and can find the net. He scored in nearly very game that he was involved. Now my question is why is Kenny keep him on the bench?

Because he not British!

Because hes not very good. Apart from the third at fulham last season all his goals are tap-ins. He does very little on the ball, and has very little influence on the game.

Taps in are not easy to get , it means a player had the intelligence to be at the right place , him and Kuyt our only 2 players that can read this kind of position.. we need him to play he is our 3rd highest scorer this season and he hardly had any pitch minutes.
Roy

Its the tap ins we need help with everyone else seems to miss them stu

Shows how little you understand about the game of football,a player has to have a lot of intelligence to be in the right place at the right time to score a tap in.How many tap ins has our £35m centre forward managed in the last 12 months.

Derek

Liverpool should sign:

Chris Samba
Demba Ba
Adam Johnson

All would be attainable at very resonable fees and would all improve our team.

Anyone disagree?

Looks like everyone disagree

Eds, i'm guessing that sweeping generalisation from RAINFISHTROMBONE was removed. He should be banned from the Liverpool pages permanently for that. Completely out of order and uncalled. Used the e-petition as an excuse to take a crack at everyone involved with LFC.

20 Jan 2012 17:32:34
Does anyone know how many goals we have scored in open play this season?

I'll take a guess and suggest that about half of our meager 24 tally has been achieved either directly or indirectly via set pieces.

Just of the top of my head I can remember 11: Maxi (1 headed back in from original corner), Sktrel (2 corners), Suarez (2 headers from free kicks), Gerrard (2pens), Kelly (1 corner), Bellamy (2 after corners / 1 free kick).

Although it gives us possession and a lot of corners, the pass and move ethos has thus far has not opened teams up through open play.

Perhaps a striker with pace and eye for goal would allow that final ball to be thread in behind for them to run on to - just like Gerrard loves to do. Suarez should benefit more than most from Gerrard being there – lets hope they both stay fit.

Red Owl

One thing that has amazed me this season is that our style of play has won us SO MANY corners, but how many goals have we scored from corners? We need to be more direct. We're becoming like Arsenal, nice build up play but no end product.

LJ

If were going by stats then we've created more chances than any other team in the prem (I think).

Realistic red

We've become the opposite of Arsenal
they have only an end product

With this weekend fixtures,
Aresnal vs Man United
Man City vs Spuds
sure to be some points dropped above us,
We got to get 3 points tomorrow

Bolton vs Liverpool - DRAW 0-0

Were better away this season than at home so i think 3pts on the cards .and dont forget no cahill in back four

Except we can actually win against Bolton and we aren't cursed by them!

I hope you Havn't just cursed us! Nick.

20 Jan 2012 17:15:56
Hi Ed, i just want to know if anyone will actually sign? i mean i know you can't say for definite but do you think it's likely? so many people are saying stop dreaming and stop expecting because no-one's coming? {Ed019's Note - There is a good chance a player will arrive - people are saying that because of Kenny's press conferences}

20 Jan 2012 17:24:02
How about Alan Pardew for a future manager.He buys quality players and gets the most out of them.

Oh please shut up and get back in ya box !

Mr Slonk The Red

I believe the large majority of Newcastle players were brought in by there cheif scout, who to be fair has done well. Kenny every day for me, I love the man.

Realistic red

Yea mate your right totally agree with you his managerial record is awesome oh no wait a minute are we talking about the same alan pardew that was the west ham manger and was in charge for the worst run of defeats in 70 years including first round exit of league cup to opposition 2 divisions below them or the same alan pardew who got charlton relegated then took them to the bottom 3 in the championship before been sacked or is it the same alan pardew who was sacked from southampton due to poor staff morale good call mate gald your not in cahrge of lfc in fact were you in charge when hodgson was appointed just cos he,s done a half decent job at newcastle seriously you need to have a word wit yourself gave me a chuckle tho

Trust in kenny please!we all must be behind our club,manager and players.Kenny your a legend and a great man!WE ARE LIVERPOOL,NOT CHELSKI PETROL CITY OR F.....G UNITED

20 Jan 2012 17:22:31
Can everyone stop moaning about the lack of signings and that kenny doesn't what he's doing. January a notorious dificult time to sign players and its been made worse this year with euro 2012. Maybe the players we want are not available until the summer so why sign a 2ed or even 3rd choice player now for a over inflated price. The teams progressing well , albeit a few dissapointing results at home. look where we were this time last year. It's taken man city 3 years with the bundles of cash they have been throwing about , so expect the same with us.

Bilverstone ynwa

Hey Eds, Will Liverpool sign anyone for the first team in this transfer window? And Do you rate us for finishing in the top four? {Ed019's Note - There is a good chance of both}

20 Jan 2012 17:07:27
Lucas Lodeiro is our man, not been playing of late and I'm sure wants to move elsewhere. Powerful, skillfull uses both feet and amazing vision more of the Tevez/Aguero type; check this link

www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMjc2X0m4pI

David Texeiro was not and will not be LFC quality.
Cheers and happy belated 2012 to Eds, Macca, Blaire and all the fans of our site.
DanieRed

He's 22 and he's scored 18 goals in his whole Career, having never been in a top league... N'Gog had a better record.

Not saying he's a bad player, but Texeira will score more this year than Lodeiro has in his career.

Neither are good enough if you ask me. Only players in the dutch league I'd look at right now are Kevin Strootman and Luuk De Jong.

20 Jan 2012 16:57:05
Just a general question really.
ED's meaning editors of the website ? Where do you get your information on possible movements through the club and how accurate it it ? Being an editor of a website not connected to the club doesn't mean you get inside information on transfers
Where does Macca get his information and who are his sources ?
This isn't a critisism, just a question as to why you seem to be in the know or think you are
If you guys get genuine information as to names, who are Liverpool bringing in and when ? It's 20/01/11 so names must have been mentioned and you must have information if your genuine

Not a critisism, just wondered

RedDaz {Ed001's Note - have you not read anything? I have pointed out that it is no longer possible to get information out of Anfield like it used to be. Now it is a case of finding out from the other end, which is not that easy. Only an idiot would claim to know who the club are bringing in and when, even Dalglish is not able to be 100% certain on that! You do realise that negotiations happen and moves can fall through don't you?}

Of course we all know that negociations break down and moves fall through, but there must be names mentioned
I find it hard to believe Dalgleish wouldn't have any idea
If you have no credible link to the club, why are you all so quick to dismiss names mentioned on the site by others ?
You say only an person would say he knows, but the ED's dismiss names mentioned but back this so called Macca..What is his credible source ?

Basically, no one knows do they....Well i should think KD and DC would, because if they don't, the club are f**ked

RedDaz {Ed001's Note - if you can't understand what I have typed, then that is not my problem, I am certainly not going to waste my time explaining it to you again. You have clearly struggled to understand what I have typed, or are being deliberately obtuse. Certainly you have completely misrepresented what I have typed.}

{Ed001's Note - and now you are even stooping so low as to post pretending to be Macca. RedDaz say goodbye you sad little muppet.}

Ed001 when someone is banned is it a life ban or do you have different length bans for different offences and who decides whats a banable offence is it down to individual eds or do you have a guidelines and if there breached then its a ban just curious
giblet {Ed005's Note - When someone is being a total idiot and a burden to us and the other posters he is just banned and that's it he won't post again.}

Good use of the word obtuse ;-)

20 Jan 2012 16:56:48
The news from Reebok Stadium is that they "CAN" upset Lfc coz of what they believe to be Lfc's patchy and unpredictable nature and our lack of success in front of goals. Hmm,even Bolton are now daring to upset us. why? any guess?
But,at Lfc,we are happy with the current squad,we are happy with the lack of goals,happy with our 7th place,happy the likes of Bolton are not afraid of us and hence,Lfc's stance not to make any signings (mainly a striker) for the first team.that's great progress!!

Whats wrong the wife left you for the milkman so youve come on here to be bitter and to try make every 1 as miserable as you

I would just like to put a post on the current terrible position we find our once great club in.....Oh wait were not in a terrible position are we, were on the verge of a cup final and five points off a top four spot with SEVENTEEN games to go and our nearest rivals for a top four spot hardly pulling up trees and it could be argued have/are playing worse than ourselves!! We are due a bit of luck infront of goal so rarther then bitch and moan about how awful we are why not try something which maybe alien to some of you and get behind the team until the end of the season and see if a little positivity helps Kenny and the lads! One last footnote, these players you are all screaming Kenny should buy surely you must realise how complicated transfers are to sort out these days, look at Cahill to Chelsea! If Kenny can pull off the right players at the right price I am sure he will.

Waro

We are not in a terrible position... I don't think any sane fan thinks that, it's just that we could be given some of our performances this season, in a much better one.

If we can turn our home form around, I think we can get 4th spot.

RedSG

Qpr need to stay up liverpool need 4th (or kenny loses his job) the difference is Qpr are doing something about it...

Feel free to support QPR if you like what they are doing! Your support isn't welcome here.

Waro

And if QPR get it badly wrong they are in the sh*te.....like a lot of clubs who risk everything.....Leeds & Portsmouth spring to mind.

Your post clearly highlights to me how much I should pay attention.
K79

Sorry forgot Kennys position is dependant on top 4... FFS this man has earn more than enough to deserve a little slack in a season that we are rebuilding. I think we should sack you as a supporter as you have no patience and loyalty.

The only time kenny will get sacked is when the 3yrs contract is up .and thats only if results are poor and theres a better man out there.psv

Hello bolton fan

20 Jan 2012 16:21:34
Not a rumour, more of a question for the eds.... It has been widely recognised that both Carroll and Downing have been underperforming for the club since their arrival. Carroll hasnt been bagging the goals as we'd have liked and Downing hasn't been providing the service from the wing like we all know he can, as well as not finding the net in the league yet himself. I'm starting to believe that the poor performance of Carroll could be on Downings head...

As we all know, Carrolls strength is his power and aerial ability which we have seen glimpses of this season already. Downings ability is to beat players down the wing and either deliver a threatening balls into the box, or to cut inside and have a pop himself. Bar the Oldham game, I havent seen 90 minutes this season when both of these playes have been on the field and complimented each other... Furthermore I believe Carrolls poor performances are in direct correlation with Downings poor service.

I thought at the beginning of the season that these 2 were bought for each other, and if that was the case then surely other teams would just mark Downing out of the game to stop delivery to Carroll and it seems this is what the opposition have done. Opinions eds/macca/fans?

JungleRed

To be fair Downing is not the only one to cross in the ball, they will both come good in the end, first season and all that.
KernowRed

My opinion is that we have yet to see a squad featuring the players that I would like to see actually playing at the same time. Seems like when Carroll comes on, Downing goes off. Gerrard in, then Adam is out. Suarez and Carroll at the same time- hasn't happened much that I can recall. Guess I would just like to see a semi-standard first 11 emerge as think that would help tremendously. I also would love to see our midfielders, particularly those in the center, push forward a bit more. Seems like we've been playing very defensively all season with SG, Adam, Henderson and others in the CM playing very deep and rarely getting in the box.

I hope in this half of the season they improve to the quality we know they should be for us.

And what would be your ideal LFC lineup then? I agree with the midfield playing defensively, I swear we play a DM every game, but we have also enjoyed an airtight defence most of the season so far. 6 of 1, half a dozen of another. Now Gerrard is back to full fitness it is looking more promising

the eds had been telling us all along if any business is done this window it would be very minimal and realistic & would be really early in the window..but even heading to the final week of the window we are not getting a serious link which would suggest
we are signing a player..with our top 4 rivals strengthing and we missing lucas and suarez (for a few games) wont it would be really sensible to bring reinforcements?..or like last season would we see deadline day signings or reserves players being given a chance to push us to top 4? {Ed002's Note - I have never once said it will be "really early in the window" when business was done.}

Extract from hamann on rafa in his book. -------------------
Rafael Benitez isn’t big on relationships, but in my mind he is pure managerial genius.

I still have the debate with some of the Liverpool lads today – Stevie Gerrard and I have had quite intense discussions about this. Rafa’s lack of emotion contrasted with Stevie, whose view was ‘he never praises you’, and he thought it would help some of the other players if they got some positive strokes.

As far as my time at Liverpool is concerned, people may think Rafa broke my heart, because he was in charge when I left. But I could have stayed – he just told me the situation as it was: had I stayed I would have been a bit part player. I couldn’t allow my Anfield career to end with a whimper, it meant far too much to me. But it wasn’t that Rafa broke my heart, it was I wanted to leave in a dignified manner.

Even if Rafa had forcibly removed me from Anfield, he’d still be near the top of my managerial list. Sometimes, talking to Rafa was like when your car windscreen’s iced up on a winter’s morning. You can’t see anything, but when you switch on the de-icer gradually you start to see through the impenetrable barrier of ice, a hazy picture emerges and within two minutes you have a full Technicolor image.

Rafa had the ability to achieve this rapid transformation from total blankness to incredible insight in just two minutes. He was incisive. He had the mind of a prosecution barrister and the words of a Spanish troubadour.
----------------------
For me he is a very good mangaer wish he had good owners at LFC.

Red indian

Yes I was always keen on rafa but one thing he did was unforgivable-- He upset Alonso by making it clear he would let him go in order to get Gareth Barry...Gareth Barry!!!

We all should respect our ex manager Rafa. he service for us and Love Liverpool too.

Everyone with the rose tinted glasses seams to forget that alonso only had one good season with us which was his last

H+G were not putting money up for transfers and Rafa was told he had to sell to buy.
Alonso was a saleable asset as he hadn't been performing.
Barry was doing well in the England team with Gerrard and they performed well together, so you can see the logical step.
The move broke down, but by then the damage had been done.
Alonso then went on to have his best season, but was adamant about wanting to leave due to Rafa previously trying to sell him and their relationship breaking down (over various things like the birth of one of Xabi's kids and him either missing a match or wanting to miss a match because of it).
Therefore, you could argue that H&G were the cause of Alonso leaving but the situation wasn't helped by Rafa

Alosno had a good first season or two then dipped for 2 seasons and went out with a bang in his last season ,i dont blame rafa ,alonso was more or les up for sale and arsenal and juve amongist others turned him down because of his current form ,it was only when xabi up his game in the last season and rafa had us playing really well did we c xabi at his best and after 4 years and the last season did he really link up well with gerrard and gerrard with torres ,still though alonso one of my favourite lfc players ever ,and was it true that he tweeted that he would play again with stevie soon ?
thanks
jeff

Wonder how many ppl think rafa had a huge impact on gerrards career eg guided him into being a top att midfielder in the world instead of being a footballer with bags of abality and energy and being wasted sitting in a defencive mid role that houllier was trying to mould him into,and i belive if it were not for rafa gerrard would have gone to chealsea

We all should respect our ex manager Rafa. he service for us and Love Liverpool too.

Rafa great manager and even greater man loves LFC loves LIVERPOOL andsuperb with donations to HFSG.

Kenny,no one has ever given me greater pleasure whilst watching football ,the greatest player great manager and deserves a knighthood for what he did after Hillsborough.

Stop making comparisons,look back in history we have been blessed with some of the greatest managers in history,I for one am proud to have supported a team where our managers have loved the club and the city we are from.

The problem with liverpool at the moment is they are too one dimensional. The reason Carroll, downing and adams were bought to give a different dimension to the way liverpool play. Downing is the biggest dissapointment more so than carroll, this is because downing was supposed to be the missing piece that would link with carroll and then in turn carroll to be knocking them in, but this hasnt happened and has started to make andy carroll look more like a donkey rather than a world class striker. I still believe if carroll played in a team that would cross the ball in to him he will become a proper striker again. I dont think his lost his ability more that the team arent producing. i believe if a suitable winger is brought in than we will see the true andy carroll.
Kenny has brought the right players in, i believe its the players responsibility to produce the goods on the pitch.

The squad is missing flair players. Too many hardworking but one dimensional players like carrol, downing, adam.....
We need players who can do more than one thing like heading or crossing. I hope KK looks to latin america for some signings as there is plentiful of flair players coming through the ranks.

Hi eds I'm confused about the fair play rule that comes in affect 13-14 does it mean a team can only spend what they earn through sponsors and other revenue or can owners still get loans and use there personal wealth to buy players and pay wages

Eric the red. {Ed002's Note - It is rather more complicated than that. June 30, 2014 is the nominal start in anger. Clubs will need to limit their spending within certain constraints to the money the club generates itself. There are then other rules governing what counts in teh figures and what does not (e.g. investment in infrastructure, investment in youth, interest on existing debt). I would not worry about it too much.}

Maybe some communication problems
between Downing and Carroll,
apparently when Downing played for Villa,
they had a habbit of shouting at the centre forward
that a cross was coming in,
At Liverpool, he does the same
and he calls to big Andy -
'Ball's up'
And Andy does as he's told.

I'm not always happy with the responses of th eds but I do have the up most respect for your knowledge. I just was wondering what is the ideal age to introduce youngsters to regular first team football? The thing is we already have an outstanding youth side & we keep buying 18 & 19 year olds. Is it realistic to say by the age of 20 & 21 they should be first team regulars? People are saying in a season or two we could be back in CL & start attracting big names but we will have such a talented crop of 20 & 21 year olds in 2 seasons time. Slodge

20 Jan 2012 14:54:53
Just wondering what other people's views are on KD"s "apparent" stance this transfer window. His comments regarding the strength of the squad and that he is happy that he doesn't need to strengthen must surely be a smokescreen?

I only say this because surely with a) the number of goals we've scored this season and b) failure to win enough home games, there must be a serious concern that the vital CL spot is slowly becoming harder and harder to achieve, and failure to strengthen could be extremely costly?

If FSG WERE 100% behind Kenny then surely they would see that there are 3 obvious positions on the field that need addressing, as numerous posters have identified, a DM, RW and Striker.

However, I do believe Kenny has FSG's full backing, and while we're all awaiting and wondering if anything is going to happen I'm sure steps are being trade to recruit.

What is the bigger risk......taking the gamble now and spending to give us a better chance of CL football OR failure to strengthen and having no European football for a 2nd year running?

I do believe all the signings KD has made will come good, including Carroll, who just needs a couple of goals and some confidence as well as a better supply line.

Fingers crossed for the 2nd half df the season.

Would love to know other peoples thoughts

Mark from Selby

Honest view is that if we don't buy a striker the season will just fizzle out. We need something to give the team a lift. A bit like Suarez last year

My thoughts exactly.....

20 Jan 2012 14:16:06
The reason I don't like Carroll playing for Liverpool the team I've supported for over 50yrs.
He offers us nothing; any player with something about him on 90k a week would be fuming at all his critics and would get out there on the pitch and show them there totally wrong, don't give me nerves or settling in or any other excuse. If your good footballer your going to show something if only in flashes. There-in lies the problem, he's not good enough to raise his game, he's playing at the wrong level. His level is a couple of steps down. All managers make bad signings even whisky nose down the lancs. The key is to get rid and move on.

I've posted many times on here that kennys tactics are shocking of late and many have rightly question if it was Roy or raffa every one would call for there heads I want to get back to the high tempo type we played against fulham end of last season but football is about opinions and people get slated for having a different opinion than some on here,we are a diverse fan group and it's good to have different views not to be all robotic and fall in line as kenny drones,I love kenny and he should be made a sir for what he has done for Liverpool in general but if I think he's doing a good/bad job I want to be free to put my opinion across,my opinion is that Fenway are not happy with some of the signings and would want kenny gone but they know the uproar that would happen,thus if we don't get into 4th place they will ask kenny to step down cheers Pk

You should stay home

Some valid points but do you really have Fenways ear? How likely is it that you do actually know what fenway are thinking? I would say highly unlikely.

But the thing with roy was we were getting outplayed by nearly everyone and we were 5th from bottom ,big difference

go cos he never won it?
I still back LFc for 4th.

I would be the first to admit, that I would like a host of new and exciting players at the club, that is the "heart talking, and all passion", the head however says, look at what has been achieved since the new owners took over. Let's not forget that under H&G we were desperately close to serious financial difficulties, who knows even 'administration', loans were due and we were nearly on the "bones of our ar*e", I remind all that, that was October 2010. We have come a long way since then, but there is still a way to go, so its about being patient, and perspective!!.
Yes, we can look back to our glorious past and say "we should be there, and winning that, signing those players". But look what FSG have done in 14 months, and we can all say thank goodness for smart, passionate, dedicated, and business orientated owners.
Never forget how close we were to serious financial difficulty, be proud of where we are now.
Regards to all.
Shankly's Red Army.

I totally agree.john henry and co deserve our total respect.he is a gentleman and has passion.we are getting new investments all the time and our club is growing.all these young players we have bought will shine through in a few years and all will come good.i see alot of ppl having a pop at comolli but he scouted most of the young talent at spurs that have come through.it takes time to build an empire and john henry is doing this.i just wish ppl could be patient and stop bitching like 5 year olds in a sweet shop.remember fergie at man utd nearly got the sack untill he won the fa cup.all us fans are doing is putting more pressure on the players.i know it feels frustrating at the moment but lets all cheer our team and they will repay us.

redricho

Great post mate. I think people really do forgetting wat them previous owners done to our club. Our new owners are a proportion sport business who will be going for years, not like chavski and s**ty who at anypoint their owners will get bored of there lil toys and stop plugging money in to summat that is a massive loss. We have proportion owners. Keep faith people, we will get there.

i feel that andy carroll is not scoring due to mostly playing upfront on his own.at nufc he had players running in the box with him.all i see is players hoofing the ball up to him and hoping he will head it in.this guy has the best left foot in the prem.get someone running up with him and the goals will flow.plus keep kelly at right back and push johnson up as a right wing.attack instead of this 4 5 1 crap.lfc for life.

redricho

Why does he fall over so much ?

The good thing about johnson and kelly playing on the right is that both can swap from wing to right back during the match

Carroll has played upfront with World Class Suarez and still been awful.

Is there any chance Liverpool will sign Bale, Messi, C.Ronaldo, Tevez, Aguero, Xavi, A Sanchez and Inesta because they are really good on FM2012 and they seem good on YouTube and I'm sure they'd fit in as a team from day 1. I don't know what Kenny is playing at, doesn't he realise how good these players are? They are better than Carroll who has had ample first team appearances. Can you please give me a score out of 10 of the chance of signing all these players before feb. Thanks, love you eds.

-100 lol

Yeah I agree. Also we should sign the following:Edgar Davids - calss on the original Pro evo, Cambioso coz he was ace on Pro Evo 3 on The PS2, and Gabrielle Batistuta who was the best srtiker on sensi soccer!

Aguero has only recently signed for city, I'm not sure about the others but there is a slim chance of messi if we really push he would love to sign.

Awful typing by me!

Aaah Gabriel Batistuta my favourite non Liverpool player ever

Chris in Tamworth

Batistuta was one of my all time fave players.He was on a different planet in the box he looked like jesus and the people of florence treated him like he was.Shame he never played for liverpool

Lothar matthaeus was good on LMA manager 2000 and he was a free transfer

I think we should sign pacman, he ate up a lot of ground. so to speak.

On a side note, does anyone think when villa boas squats at the sideline to get a 'better view' of his team he looks like he's a manager from that 90's football arcade game? (I think it was Techmo world cup '90)

hi ed ,was at the newcastle game at anfield few weeks back and i have to say its a discrace the way alot of fans slate our own players i couldnt belive it ,lfc are supposed to have the best fans in the world ,its been going on for years now ,we should be supporting every player and manager we have ,look at lucas prime example u could hardly blame the lad if he turned around and wanted to leave what support did he ever recieve from us for the first 3/4 years of his lfc career ,and as for raffa benitez the man won us the champs league and made us a real force in european football again ,he gave us players like alonso,reina,torres,mash,sissoko,garcia,agger,skrtel etc ,and i know there will be smart comments now like nunez etc ,but thats us allover never backing the manager and the players compleatly ,same with kenny,and the players he bought ,so do u think its the fans own fault that we are were we are by not backing the club like we should and always wanting better
thanks

20 Jan 2012 12:20:54
So we bought Joao Carlos.. we also have Suso & Coady & Shelvy all young & on the verge of playing 1st team football regularly so why the hell we splashed 20M/16M on Henderson. Should have kept Meirrales when he reaches 31-32 these players 'll be ready to come in to replace him. He was demanding something close 60K per week that's not much high & won't be equal to 16M/20M in two, three or four years time. He was quality & was bonded in well with team mates.

Pretty clear LFC don't use the money wisely when they got it.. & now no money available..
Henderson, Downing & Carroll is the down fall of Kenny's new project. It is the truth believe it or not.

Actually your wrong with a signing on fee, win bonuses and other bonus this will easily reach 16m over 4 years .What you should ask is which of the two players Henderson and Meirales has the most to offer us in the next 4 years.As for the youngsters coming through its not as easy as becoming 21 there are many factors involved .I personally believe that we have an amazing array of young talnt second only to Barca but remember the names as usually the ones you least expect will go on to be great players.O~ne thing most young players lack is the mental strength potential is nothing if not realised.

Keep knocking players like Henderson as his attitude is world class , extra training and just amazing attitude.Personally give me 11 Hendersons over 11 meirrales at least he tackles.give him time then judge

Henderson is class, how cant you see it???? 20mil was a bargain

Henderson for 16 Million. The lad is quality

hi guys great website. tomorrow is a must win for us. i hope kenny does not start kuyt. put carroll and bellamy. i will be shocked if we don't win this match. like i said before, if we can beat teams such as chelsea, arsenal, man city etc all away, then surely it means that we can beat bolton tomorrow. Also why on earth did kenny start 5 defenders in the match against stoke?. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

I think we are beating the so called bigger teams because we are set up very well defensivley and very good on the counter attack. but when we play teams that we should be beating they set thier stall out and we have not had enough creativity to break them down. It will all come good when we see Gerrard, Suarez Carrol and Downing start their first game together.

We will leave if late in the window to sign players, the reason for this is man united, if we go buying players now, then Fergie will winge at his owners (and man can he winge) that he's not getting the enough investment, and force them to cough up some money for players that they desperately need, if we sign late in the window it will be too late for Fergie to sign anyone, even if he gets some money

Things are desperate for the mancs, too much debt and no money to spend, Ageing squad and they've had to even bring Schoals back from retirement, Our empire is growing and man-united's is falling So cheers up guys, our future is very bright!

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United's transfer policy is certainly not based on anything thathappens at Liverpool.}

Lol... unless Liverpool try and buy one of their players!

When are people going to learn that reading newspapers or twitter or internet blogs is exactly the wrong place to try and find information out?

If you haven't learnt this lesson, you are going to continually make yourself look ignorant. If The Mirror's recent example of crass and sensationalist reporting hasn't made you sit up and take note, let alone the 22 years of The S*n's BS then it may take a rocket exploding in your lower intestines for you to smell the truth.

Another example of the utter irresponsible garbage spouted by media hacks was this extremely tenuous link to Moussa Sow. Never before been linked to the club until one day last week, he 'allegedly' states his undying love for LFC and a desire far outstripping any desire to meet the perfect woman, to score at the Kop end.

Low and behold, mayhem. Twitter seizes up with 'Sow to LFC' rumours along with this website being awash with 'if we don't sign Moussa Sow then Kenny needs sacking. I've seen him on YouTube and he is just what we want and desperately need'. To 'Yet another target we've let slip through our fingers' on news that he may indeed sign for another club.

Seriously it's nearly enough for me to unlock the gun cupboard, launch a few shells into the sawed-off and come looking for you all, dressed like John Rambo, even down to the black boot polish just under my eyes, even trying to get that Nike tick just right.

I'm not interested whatsoever in who I would like the club to sign. I'm not interested in who the media say we're going to sign and I'm certainly not interested in any one else's comments either.

The only one I will listen to, with great interest, is the statement from the club itself telling me who we have signed. Until then, stop this incessant need to feed your craving of information. It is really having an adverse effect with your objectivity.

You are balancing your need for a superstar verses who we have actually signed in real life. It's not healthy or helpful.

Why can't you just sit back, relax, be patient and enjoy the football? Hmmm? You should actually use all your efforts to support the signings we made in August as no doubt come next month you'll be slagging off whoever we buy this month in any event.

It's a strange World you reside in.

Sadly once upon a time during close season every team thought they had a chance of winning some thing now only 3 teams and that does not include us have a real chance of winning the prem' , and that is all down to instant sucess expectations of the money signings which does work as once seen at blackburn , so all supporters can not just sit there for another 20 years thinking next year we will win the prem' we all want it now , and we have to face up to the fact we wont win it and more to the point our reaction to the wasting of money is fair , if we did not waste the money that fsg have we could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
fsg need to look at the way we play at home , its great to have a fab stadium but very depressing to play to a small audience. i will still be part of that small audience if it does pan out badly for us .
so please mr henry thanks for saving us from doom last year and please look at the big picture and do not let sentiment get in the way , loyalty is great but reality is what it is. red mick tag

Kenny did his business early in the summer and i would think he would of this window. why is it everybody can see we need a striker yet LFC continue to bury there head in the sand and think a laklustre Carroll is the man or Kuyt up top last week against Stoke, we need goals and our strikers cannot give this. get buying KK.

BigD {Ed002's Note - The uefa.com summary is something like this - although I have not checked for a while:

Champions League: Teams competing in the UEFA Champions League group stage this season can expect to receive a minimum amount of €7.2m according to the revenue distribution system in place for the 2010/11 campaign.
Each of the 32 clubs taking part in the UEFA Champions League group stage that kicks off on Tuesday will receive a participation bonus of €3.9m, plus a match bonus of €550,000 per group game played. On top of that, the following performance bonuses will be paid: €800,000 for every win and €400,000 for every draw in the group stage.
There are additional payments made to the teams that progress in the competition with €3m the reward for advancing to the round of 16, €3.3m for reaching the quarter-finals and €4.2m for a semi-final place. The winners of the final at Wembley Stadium on 28 May will collect a further €9m, with €5.6m going to the runners-up.
By way of example, any side winning all six group games would earn €15m – comprising €12m for their group stage performance plus €3m for getting to the last 16.
In addition, participating clubs will be entitled to a share of the market pool based on the commercial value of their domestic television market, the number of UEFA Champions League matches they play this season and their final position in the domestic league table last term. They will also keep their UEFA Champions League gate receipts.
Each of the 20 teams that contested the play-offs has received €2.1m.
Europa League: The 48 clubs embarking on UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns this week will receive increased prize money compared with the rewards on offer last season, when the rebranded competition began life as the successor to the UEFA Cup.
Each team taking part this term will collect a €640,000 participation bonus together with a match bonus of €60,000 for every match played in the group stage. They can add to this total minimum amount of €1m through a series of performance-related rewards, starting with €140,000 per win and €70,000 per draw in their group games.
By way of example, if a side wins all six of their group fixtures they will earn a total of €1.84m from the competition by Christmas.
Progress beyond that point will trigger further bonus payments worth: €200,000 for reaching the round of 32, €300,000 for the round of 16, €400,000 for the quarter-finals and €700,000 for the semi-finals.
The prize money for the clubs that go all the way to the final will be €3m for the eventual winner and €2m for the runner-up at the Dublin Arena on 18 May 2011.
Participating teams will also be entitled to a variable amount depending on the commercial value of their national media rights, their position in their national championship last season, and their performance during this UEFA Europa League campaign.
A side could pick up, at best, €6.44m not counting the market pool share.}

In other word LFC get into the F****ng champions league!!!

Bloody Hell, What a big big difference, as much as i want us to finish 4th the way we are playing i just don't see it simple reason being we can't score..

AVB has come out and said there should be 'B' teams in the lower divisions. I was wondering what the ed's and everyone else thinks of this idea? I think it would be a good idea. At the moment youth football is just not good enough in this country, as was proved in the NextGen series. Surely playing competitive football against professionals would benefit these players? The likes of Coady, Morgan and Sterling aren't good enough for the PL at the moment, but still need more of a challenge than reserve football. Opinions welcome.

Rafa's Purple Goatie {Ed002's Note - The idea has come up before and there has also been the thought to extend the loan system to allow perhaps 10 players to move for a full season to a lower division side. I don't see it happening any time soon. Perhaps something could be done after a breakaway as a means to try and protect lower division or less successful sides from slipping in to obscurity.}

The most obvious problem with this is that unless you begin even more leagues or increase greatly the number of teams in each league then some long-established
clubs would fall out of the professional game.All well and good for us but what about their supporters.Not as numerous but just as committed

Puzzled

If it were to happen the clubs like Darlington we be OK financially

And another thought...teams could let squad players or those returning from injury play in their B team (with a view to winning their league) how fair is that? Ultimately a B team could reach the premiership ! As you know an owner is not supposed to have a stake in a second club even now and that is to stop any jiggery-pokery in swapping players and so giving an advantage for their second club or in this case B team in individual matches
frauhgt with danger and should not be considered

Puzzled {Ed002's Note - How it works in Spain is that the B team have their own squad and they are not allowed to be promoted to the top tier.}

Perhaps we could use Everton as our feeder club. They could then ground share and solve their financial problems.

I think what most of us are forgetting is twofold;

1. Our most potent attacking midfielder (SG) has been out of action most of the year and uses the middle of the pitch to do most of his damage. A fit SG feeding Suarez and Carroll up front is what I am waiting to see. It will give Suarez and Carroll more space as they both draw defenders and you can't man mark two strikers. It also sucks defenders into the centre of the pitch which should give Downing who I would play on the left and Henderson who I would play on the right space and an improved ability to use the touch lines. With Adam sitting behind these three it provides for a very solid lineup. I would play Bellamy off the pitch as an impact player and bench Kuyt.

2. If Lucas was not injured we would be building better from the back. I believe he has matured into a quality DM and whilst Spearing is learning, Adam for mine is still getting used to the team.

I think we are solid at the back (as proven by Jamie not being able to get a game). In time I would like to see Coates replace Skrtel but he is not ready yet.

I would like to see KK give some of our kids more bench time as we have some quality ready to be exposed. I hope we can do this later in the season.

In summary, it is a work in progress and I tend to agree with not buying in January when premium prices are paid.

Aussie Scouse

I agree with what u have said, but its pretty obvious we r lacking a goalcorer. No matter how well this team plays, goals will still be hard to come by coz we dont have a goalpoacher in the squad.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas thinks English football should seriously consider following the Spanish model by allowing Premier League clubs to field "B" sides in the Football League - or even permitting the purchase of smaller rivals for use as feeder teams — to allow young prospects the best possible chance of fulfilling their talent.

---------------------

100% agree, Liverpool could use A.Stanley
Everton - Tranmere and so the smaller clubs would benefit and we as a nation would do better. what do you all and eds think.

BigD

Yea I think we should use everton as a feeder team to us ;)

Why don't we use Everton?

Macca,

You are being to polite, I agree with the Eds that you don't have to come out and share the information you have but you do and you also come back answer peoples inpatient questions like "Why haven't we signed him yet etc etc, I don't believe you etc etc"

They are just frustrated fans that are desperate to see a little more flair on the right wing and some end product with their delivery along with someone who can find the back of the net on a frequent basis.

I'm no statistician but I wonder if there has even been a game yet when Gerrard and Suarez have played together? I get excited just by that. (I only remember the Utd home match when Gerrard wasn't fully match fit)

I trust in what you say 100% and I know like many others that things can change (another club comes in with a bid, player changes their mind, injury etc) but I will remain optomistic at all times.

Thanks again for the time you and the Eds put in. (Just as an extra bit of useless info for you but I speak regularly to the landlord of the Arkles who speaks to a few of the people at LFC and he feeds me some whispers but I still get more info on here tbh) :-)

If we don't sign anyone descent now who can help us push for top 4, who and how are we going to attract top players after the Euros? Players which perform well in the Euros are going to cost a fortune and why will they want to sign for a club with no CL football. I really do hope that our management know what they are doing and pull a quality player or 2 out the bag soon.

Would personally prefer we didnt go after someone based purely on performances on international tournaments...always pay over the odds if someone plays half decent..diouf for example..im sure the management at the mo know what they are doing

Remember torben piechnik?

Let's be honest...we don't need a massive turnaround of players. We have played well enough to win in about 85% of our games this season. We have been very unlucky and very poor infront of goal. The way I see it is that we need a striker, someone who can finish with a proven record. Who that may be and how much I don't know, I'm sure some of you will name names! KD is doing a good job, we have a young squad, with some promising youngsters coming through. Sterling is sure to make his mark soon. Keep the faith, if we sign someone or don't. Next season is looking rosy.

MJ

All that's required is a World Class striker to partner Suarez. You can coach all aspects of the game to players to help them and the team improve but you can't coach or teach someone to put the ball in the net. Would totally change our outlook and put teams on the backfoot before a ball is even kicked.
With exactly the same squad of players with say....Suarez and Van Nistleroy type
...............Suarez and Drogba type
...............Suarez and Henri type
...............Suarez and Fowler type
...............Suarez and Shearer type
...............Suarez and even Collymore type
You get the picture? don't know where we will get him from? but we should endeavour to get the ideal front man if we want to keep Suarez.
My choice short term would be Drogba always get the feeling he likes Liverpool and Anfield and Carroll might learn something from him.
Long term would be the likes of Cavani or Higuain.

Kenny has always said 'if we've got something to tell you, we will tell you'

as far as i am aware he has always stuck to it too, so i would love to know where all these papers and websites got all these 'facts' about us wanting players.. Im pretty sure camolli isnt ringing the press with info...

20 Jan 2012 08:00:32
Think our american friends will not be backing the king. Tbh he has squandered tens of millions on average players and we show no sign of champs league qualification. Think the king may be gone by next season at least rafa when we finished 5th won it. 5 times!

Complete idiot.

You ahve to look at the bigger picture... City and Spurs have also bought players and their players seem to be better at the moment... (Our hope is in the youth coming up in the next 3-4 years)

20 Jan 2012 07:13:39
LFC Fans Dont believe all the hype going on
FSG will NOT allow KD to sign anyone in Jan, they want him out in the summer,

They will be the same as the last lot of Yonks, all promises no substance.

sad but a once great club fails to impress, now just sad club

In you we trust Kenny

Scared to leave your name?

dd

When they bought the club they said they won't "make any promises"

morning ed. Any news, that would make my day better! {Ed002's Note - Darren Bent still hasn't signed.}

Ed, that actually made me laugh. It's a miracle!

Thats great news ed! If you have news like that all day, I'll be one happy bloke ha

Personally Ed I think that's bad news, are you not a Bent fan either?

It is looking increasingly likely that either no one is coming in this window or it will be very close to deadline and may be another surprise. For people regretting Sow not being signed, bear in mind that to sign a player before he goes to the ACON is a huge risk because he may get injured in that competition and if not it would be a while before he would join the squad and get up to premiership speed, could also cause unrest with the strikers that we already have. Have faith in Dalglish, Commoli and the board over transfer activity.
With the euro's coming a lot of players are reluctant to move in case it doesn't work out and they lose their place in national team.
Get behind the team now and realise that 4th may be out of range this season but with the squad settling down and some quality additions in the summer next season could be a bigger aim than 4th.
Also, with Kenny you are never going to get a snippet of information, he never gives anything away, just watch his regular anfield interviews with the press.
This is not a bad season at all and apart from the game against stoke there have been some high quality performances throughout.
Good times lay ahead.
This is an excellent site and we should be grateful to the Ed's and Macca so try not to piss them off with negativity and the same banal questions.
To those who say we should be interested in Tevez I say you need to educate yourselves, who wants an arrogant, cry baby, disloyal, money grabbing mercenary, exactly the type of player ywe don't want at Liverpool despite his obvious talent.
Well done to the e-petition for breaking the required target.
Justice For All.

Mark.

Kuyt deal looks set to complete for 6 million. When it does, LFC will meet Valencia's asking price for Soldado- 22.5 million sterling. Dialogue has been happening between the 2 clubs since november. Expect a busy final few days of january.

Hi Eds.
Out of interest (maybe you can shed some light on this).
Will there be a total kit re-design with Warrior Sports being new supplier.
Hell, its a bit like converting your Dvd collection to Blue Ray, only to find there is another new format on the way (which I believe there is, called Super HD).
Food for thought. {Ed001's Note - not sure what you mean by kit re-design, as there seems to be one of those every year anyway. But yes, all the training kits and the playing kits will be new.}

20 Jan 2012 01:25:55
Was it last week we were talking about Jackson martinez(i think that was his name)??,the boy looks class,would definately fit in i think,and not cost too much either :)

I think he is the type of player that LFC needs to challenge for the top 4. An overly aggressive player who can play with both feet and has a good head on his shoulders. He does not hesitate to shoot and has excellent speed

Agreed . I saw few match of Colombian league and Mexican too. they play same kind of football like EPL . I think he fit in Liverpool very well. £8.5 is asking price.

20 Jan 2012 01:01:35
hey eds im surprised we are not linked with lennon that much! i thought for sure he would be linked through out january because he the perfect player to fill in the right mid position and im pretty sure comolli was at spurs when lennon was brought in from leeds. I'm tipping liverpool to make 2 more signing couldnt give tell you who because there seems to be so mant to choose from with rumours flying around lets hope its hazard and cavani those are the 2 rumours i liked the most to bad they wont happen this window:(

great job on the site also eds really appreciate your time {Ed001's Note - the reason why Lennon hasn't been linked is simply because his crossing is so poor.}

20 Jan 2012 00:44:47

For all you slagging off G.Johnson.... we all want big Andy to succeed and to do so he needs the service, who else bar Johnson gets crosses into the box Downing?!

Johnsons one of the first names on my team sheet (opinion) and atleast he carries the team forwards,

As for the muppet that said we should bid for Walcott! what planet you from we already have Downing to run the ball outta play on the left, we cant afford to pay the ball boys on the other side of the pitch the extra labour.

Stick by the team, the squad and the manager.

The worry for me is Andy settling into the squad, have you noticed the way his team mates look at him on the pitch? Bellamy, Henderson and Suarez have been guilty of death stares and head shaking lately, just hope the squad give him time

Glen can't cross to save his ass, either.

BooDaBooze

But he's definitely better than downing lol i'll even go as far as saying he'l probably play better on the left wing than downing does!

The Telegraph report that our new kit deal could be even more lucrative for the club, to the tune of £300m!

I you see Syd,
