Hi all,

Congrats to a very young Ajax team. great to see. during the match it was stated that Ajax have played at least one player who had come through youth academy in over 30 games for the last 30 years! Wow or what!

Anyhow. looking at the Ajax team can any of the Edds confirm if any teams (including LFC) have been keeping an eye on Younes? He's a wide left player who is very skill full and reminds me of cheski's hazard.

LFC could do with a left winger with plenty of pace and guile!

20 Apr 2017 20:15:16
So who is watching the UTD match tonight LOL?

Palace game is going to be massive for us. We are at home and I reckon this match will seal top four for us. Nothing but 3 points will suffice. Come om Pool!

20 Apr 2017 20:24:37
I was, now they scored I've lost interest.

20 Apr 2017 21:16:05
If United win the competition, also finish in the top 4 of the league, will Liverpool qualify for the CL if they finish 5th in the League? I suspect not, but if so I might start rooting for them this evening!

{Ed002's Note - No they won't.}

20 Apr 2017 21:23:56
You cannot qualify for the CL finishing 5th unless you win the CL like Liverpool did in 2005.

20 Apr 2017 22:02:12
Or the Europa league.

20 Apr 2017 22:19:46
Just so ed002 can get in early on this one before motdf kicks in. can you confirm that Liverpool have put in a £49.000.000 bid in for Uroš Spajić.

21 Apr 2017 15:03:58
Imagine having to go to Turf Moor three days after playing 120 minutes in Europe.

Utd are in for a tough time on Sunday. Great for us.

21 Apr 2017 15:10:45
1-1 now Ko Lo. I am hoping for extra time.

21 Apr 2017 15:17:47
we'd want man Utd to win Europa wouldn't we? wouldn't impact on us finishing fourth and may also distract them from the league?

21 Apr 2017 19:49:16
No faithinworks, firstly it would give them a much bigger boost in the transfer window, as if they need that already. Secondly CL wouldn't distract them as much as it would distract us, unless we buy really well in the summer, and lastly europa is a much more imposing schedule than that of the CL. If they finish 5th or 6th and miss out on winning the europa that would be ideal for all the other top clubs. Plus it's major bragging rights if they win it. They did everything we didn't do last season, win the league cup, win europa, get CL football and finished above our league position last season.

22 Apr 2017 09:40:14
I'd like them to lose the final on penalties 👌.

20 Apr 2017 18:50:23
I'm not saying sell hendo but say if Klopp what's a new captain who would you people like.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

20 Apr 2017 19:05:49
Adam Lallana.

20 Apr 2017 19:11:09
To be honest, I think that is one area we really struggle with - we don't appear to have too many natural
leaders in the squad. If I had to pick, I would probably say Lallana at this time, but would like to see a strong presence at centre back or midfield that has the qualities to captain the side.

20 Apr 2017 22:52:46
Matip or Lovren.

20 Apr 2017 23:37:57
The problem with Lallana for me is that I feel he talks too much. Maybe I'm getting old, but that Nivea ad makes me cringe and I wish he would just zip it sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - same with me. Never a captain in a million years, he is one of the biggest culprits for going missing when it matters, especially after he has been spouting off to the press.}

21 Apr 2017 00:07:53
Milner.

21 Apr 2017 01:12:54
Lovren. seriously?

21 Apr 2017 01:22:36
Wijnaldum - has captained PSV before, is experienced and involved in everything in the middle of the park. Failing that perhaps Llalana.

21 Apr 2017 07:57:44
Always thought lucas deserved a shake of the stick. The ammount of crap that guy used to take only to change everyones opinion on him and knowing everyone was calling for his head, shows commitment and grit.

21 Apr 2017 08:31:48
Honestly next season we could have it that our captain is hendo milner our vice and Lucas our vice vice but none of these 3 could be playing if a midfielder is signed or hendo injured. Personally in this scenario I'd give it to coutinho see if he can take the next step to be a real leader on the pitch for us!

21 Apr 2017 10:47:32
i think having watched all the matches and the available tunnel cam programs in our team we don't seem to have that leader bully in the team a captain needs to be very vocal lead by example and to some extent a bully as he needs to verbally harass players to get a reaction on the field, for example when Gerrard was captain he led more by example early on his captaincy and learned to be more vocal but he always had Carragher who whilst always led by example on the pitch was the verbal bully always talking and shouting
I just don't see that in this team.

21 Apr 2017 15:07:01
I wouldn't pick Lallana because I can't see him staying in the starting line up for any more than another 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a substitute next season even.

Personally I would give it to a player like Firmino. I think the additional responsibilities would elevate him to a new level. He may not be your typical Carragher or Keane type leader, but he has that desire which drives others to work harder and the ability to win a game on his own at times. Kind of like a Gerrard type inspirational leader.

21 Apr 2017 15:15:18
If not Henderson I'd go with Milner.

21 Apr 2017 15:13:24
In a way, it's a sign of the times. The typical vocal leader that rallies the players and leads by example is becoming more and more scarce in the game. I struggle to think of too many out there.

21 Apr 2017 15:22:52
If Lallana is everyone's candidate then it's a sad indictment of the team's leadership stocks. No disrespect to Lallana, but he's not a leader that can galvanise a team. Not in a million years.

21 Apr 2017 19:16:33
Agree with Robin, Lallana is the only real option but it's a sad commentary on the state of our players leadership credentials rather than a glowing reference for Lallana.

Is Turan moving and have we shown any interest? (Please! )

20 Apr 2017 17:08:46
1. He's too old now.
2. See point 1.

20 Apr 2017 17:57:18
At some point, you're going to have to let this Arda Turan thing to lFC go.

21 Apr 2017 00:04:27
When he's too old for an ambassadorial role, presumably.

20 Apr 2017 14:49:22
Will Hendo play again this season? not looking too good at the moment .

Believable0 Unbelievable4

20 Apr 2017 14:54:25
No chance, he's not even running.

20 Apr 2017 14:56:26
I don't think so, sadly. Even more worrying is if he can even play consistently due to his heel issue.

20 Apr 2017 15:34:02
Unlikely he will play again this season. Someone on social media said hendo had a secret operation tho.

20 Apr 2017 15:37:22
All the more important to tie Can down to a new contract. With Lucas and Stewart on their way out, we do not have a single CDM to rotate with Hendo (Can aside) when he inevitably gets injured from time to time. Hopefully sorting out Can's contract situation and signing a quality CM like Keita will make Hendo's frequent absences less noticeable in our performances.

20 Apr 2017 15:52:53
3rd season in a row that we has lost him at the back end of the season. warning signs. Fergie was right.

{Ed001's Note - no he was not. It is nothing to do with his running style, as the bitter one knew when he spouted that bull in his book. It was an injury, completely unrelated, that caused his problems.}

20 Apr 2017 17:04:28
I have the same issue with my heel, I can assure you it is very painful.

There is no cure or operation to solve the issue, it's an issue he will have to learn to live with and will affect the rest of his career, sadly playing football especially at that level he'll miss more games than play, Klopp will need to find a solution.

Hope I'm wrong but that's what specialist has told me.

20 Apr 2017 18:00:47
Deceptikon, Fergie was right about absolutely NOTHING as the foot problem Hendo has has nothing to do with how he runs. Many athletes in diff sports have had it including NFL players but they are able to play through it due to high level treatment and top of the line sports science and medicine.

Fergie was just an old bitter who STILL can't bear that Hendo came out great by moving to us instead of his mob. Stop validating his nonsense as you're embarrassing yourself.

20 Apr 2017 19:19:44
Your heal is part of your foot of if I'm not mistaken. Footballers run on their feet hence me making the Fergie comment. Love Hendo. Been supporting LFC since the eighties. As bitter as Fergie was and as much as i don't like him, the man knew players. Built, broke up and rebuilt many successful teams. His comment as much as we may hate it stems from his knowledge of players.

{Ed001's Note - no, it stemmed from his bitterness after Hendo rejected his attempts to tap him up.}

21 Apr 2017 11:04:11
It's the plantar fasciitis problem innit? There's no way that's caused from a running style. It just happens. Can take up to two years, can sometimes be managed within a few months. There's talk of it being career long? Your body actually heals the issue itself after a year or two by forming a heel spur. That's worst case. He'll be right.

21 Apr 2017 15:17:20
Have to disagree 77. I have also the same issue but i have been heel and injury free for well over a year. It is merry hell when you have it as im sure you are aware especially when it moves to you heel. Good footware, insoles for plantar fasciitis and exercise for your feet worked wonders for me. The benifit that Hendo has is that he is surrounded by top medical people which will help him a great deal. I think he will be fine, i would guess that his heel has ruptured which could take 3/ 4 months to sort out.

21 Apr 2017 17:59:45
Plantar facilitis (sic) has absolutely NOTHING to do with "running from the hips", which was Fergies complaint about Hendo.

Leave the medical speculation to doctors, not crackpot assumptions from a poster trying to prove their (completely incorrect) point.

20 Apr 2017 14:29:29
afternoon eds. i know you said that any defenders would have to be moved on before we looked to sign any but surely the club are concerned with lovren and matips inability to stay fit? this is our first centre back pairing and they can't get a run of games. with the possibility of Lucas and Sakho leaving, gomez and klavan is not sufficient cover.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs manage perfectly well with four centre backs which is what Klopp wanted as well. Sakho is not available because of Klopp. The training regime is responsible for the muscle injuries.}

20 Apr 2017 15:41:17
Sakho himself could not stay fit for a long period under both BR and Klopp. We definitely need a new CB to replace Lucas (deserves to play regularly elsewhere) and Klavan (not good enough) . If we don't sort out our CB conundrum, then next season is going to be one big disappointment with all the additional games and our attack will tire out at some pint meaning our defenders will need to do their jobs better than what they have done this season.

20 Apr 2017 14:48:05
Hey ed, would you be willing to share some technical know-how on the specifics of the training process that Klopp is implementing? I am really curious on the matter.

My personal take on the whole "Klopp's methods lead to more injuries" question: It is a curious conundrum, but as a dimwit with no actual knowledge on how the process works I would support the coach in his decisions. If more frequent injuries are the price the pay for the dynamic style of football we play, then so be it. I like Klopp's style, but if it was without drawbacks then everyone and their dog (and Sparky) would be using it, I guess. Still, if there is room of adjustments, then let us hope he finds them.

{Ed002's Note - I don't want to open this up again but the players are pushed too hard and that results in muscle injuries.}

20 Apr 2017 15:33:50
Ed002 Sakho is not available cuz of his stupid behaviour. not cuz of Klopp.

{Ed002's Note - No, he has not been available to play for Liverpool because Klopp does not want him - it is entirely the fault of Klopp - nobody else.}

20 Apr 2017 18:06:17
I don't see the banishing of a disruptive player who takes responsibility for anything wrong he has done, as being the fault of the manager. Sahko only cares about Sahko and to keep him while he continues to disrespect and flout the manager's orders would be dereliction of duty and a slap in the face of his authority. Many may not wanna hear that BUT I'm happy that there are still managers who believe in team chemistry and harmony and will not tolerate insubordination. BTW It's not as if Sahko was Paulo Maldini while he was here, was it?

Clearly, Klopp was right as we are third in the PL and if many think he would have improved us, I sure haven't seen this improvement as he's been here for 3 years where we conceded 150 goals in the PL in that span.

20 Apr 2017 23:17:26
I fully back Klopp on this one. 1 chance, 2nd chance, 3rd chance. otherwise where does it stop for the entire squad.

21 Apr 2017 15:08:24
I have to agree with Ed002 here. You can only blame Klopp for the Sakho fiasco. Not initially as I do believe punishment was needed. Sakho's behaviour was getting out of hand BUT after that Sakho played for the reserves with no issues and has knuckled down and just got on with doing his best for Palace which shows more maturity than Klopp's pig headedness. All Klopp has to do is say ok you've took your punishment like a man and shown the willingnessto work and dig in I wanted and I respect that but you are on your final warning, welcome back and it's problem solved.

20 Apr 2017 14:28:17
Ed's, it seems like we have more injuries than any other team. My question is, who is responsible for conducting players medicals prior to signing. I get that some injuries are unavoidable and occur during games/ training, but it seems we have a lot of injuries that are just due to the players physique. Can more be done? Is it just bad luck?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club are responsible for the medicals and the training regime continues to be the cause of many of the muscle injuries - this has all been covered before.}

20 Apr 2017 18:16:57
LFC have covered the most km per 90m at the highest ave speed whilst using the fewest substitutions of the top 6.

20 Apr 2017 19:19:50
Whilst some injuries may be a result of a tough training programme, a number of the key injuries, in my opinion, have not been the result of the training regime. Coutinho was contact injury, Mane was pure bad luck, Lallana twice injured on international duty, Henderson an ongoing issue with his heel. I think we have just been plain unlucky in a number of circumstances where other teams have been somewhat luckier. It happens like that sometimes. Hopefully next season we won't be as unlucky.

{Ed001's Note - if it was down to the training then the hardest trainers would be the ones suffering the muscle injuries ie Firmino. It is down to a lack of basic fitness by the players. They need to be pushed harder if anything.}

20 Apr 2017 23:02:15
Who are our hardest trainers, I presume you mean firmino is one, I also assume hendo lallana Milner would be up there, and can also see origi mane can and wijnaldum Puting it in.

21 Apr 2017 15:09:29
Agree with Ed001 on this. You don't see the Brownlee brothers pulling muscles regularly and they train far harder. The other month one of them nearly passed out before his muscles gave in!

20 Apr 2017 13:20:08
Hi Eds not watched as much youth and u23 football this season as i usually do but caught up a bit on youtube last night and see that we seem to have another exiting prospect coming through, Rhian Brewster, now i read on the lfc site he has played a closed game for the first team in front of Klopp where he scored a hattrick and he's working with Steve McManaman, now at the age of 17 (just) playing for the u23 side seems really good sign, but can you tell me how high he is thought of at the club or is his fast development an unexpected good surprise for the club.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he was not seen as anywhere near ready before the season started, so, while highly rated, it is a surprise that he has made such progress this season.}

20 Apr 2017 14:15:07
Bru, check out how many goals he has scored for the England teams, he has banged in a few already this season .

20 Apr 2017 14:21:06
will do red and thanks ed.

20 Apr 2017 14:49:08
He was also released last season or the season before due to some issues he was having. Thankfully he seems to be over them and is progressing very well.

20 Apr 2017 19:52:33
Jezza I don't believe that's true but happily corrected if wrong, he left Chelsea and came to us as he said he didn't see any way into their first team so turned down a contract and moved on. If true then that's surely a good sign that he striving to get to the top.

20 Apr 2017 13:13:20
Does Harry have a new user name?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

20 Apr 2017 13:58:54
UEFALona apparently.

20 Apr 2017 14:57:35
I guess Insigne was no longer pulling any trees with Napoli.

20 Apr 2017 16:32:56
Lorenzo Insigne has score more goals than any other winger in Europe / Italy. He has registered more number of assists / goals than Hazard and Sanchez.

20 Apr 2017 23:08:06
According to bbc, Sanchez has 19 goals and 9 assists In the league, and insigne 14 and 7. Never mind that Sanchez has played half the season as a striker. Pointless harry.

21 Apr 2017 15:47:30
Thanks, Fencey for the correction. I guess Harry's new name will now be "My name is Alexis Sanchez".

20 Apr 2017 12:40:38
Matip, Lucas and Klavan injured, what the hell are our players made off paper or something.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

20 Apr 2017 12:50:13
What? That can't be right ed? All out for weekend?

{Ed002's Note - Standard Liverpool muscular problems for LL and JM.}

20 Apr 2017 12:55:16
Jesus christ. Ok. Know one to play alongside Lovren then against Benteke, Zaha etc. Great news.

{Ed002's Note - Gomez.}

20 Apr 2017 13:15:33
Ah yes could be a good oppertinity for him, a big task though against Benteke. All 3 definitely confirmed out then?

{Ed001's Note - late fitness tests for Lucas, Matip and Klavan.}

20 Apr 2017 14:18:44
thats bad news, all three won't make it, it will show Klopp just how thin the squad is of first team players, maybe it will give someone a chance to step up, its going to be another tough game .

{Ed002's Note - Well if the likes of Gomez are not well enough thought of by the supporters they should be sold.}

20 Apr 2017 14:33:27
Klopp seems to be satisfied with what he has
And everyone else thinks we need around 6 players
I'm not sure why he makes out like the team is super solid I. Bet u he doesn't fix that defence
He will just replace sturridge and sell anyone he doesn't need

So be prepared a fast start next season and then same as usual as it hits xmas.

20 Apr 2017 14:58:56
Do you have the winning lottery nos. as well, Real?

20 Apr 2017 15:44:47
redforever, It is not the depth that is lacking in our CB department. It is the quality. Most clubs make do with 4 CBs over the course of a season. We have four on our books but cannot seem to stay fit for long stretches. Adding more CBs is not the solution (as long as there is a replacement for Klavan) .

20 Apr 2017 16:20:45
Redforever you dont know all 3 won't make it. Ed has said late fitness tests. Im sure one of them will be fit enough.

20 Apr 2017 17:48:03
If all 3 are out he could play gomez for matip and grujic for lucas.

20 Apr 2017 21:08:55
Firminio, what I meant to say is that it would be very difficult for all three players who are rated doubtful for sunday to actually make it, I will be checking the news every hour hoping for something positive . 3 points from this game will go a long way to top four .

20 Apr 2017 21:11:02
TAA must surely get a game, he is knocking on the door .

How is it possible that Sturridge now has the mobility of a broken down hurse?

Yes the injuries but bloody hell he's now slow with no agility. Big Mertesacker could challenge him in a sprint/ agility course!

rant over lol.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

20 Apr 2017 12:07:51
Don't think that's true.

20 Apr 2017 12:14:36
😂 hahaha! Fake News! 😂.

21 Apr 2017 09:36:00
Seriously? Its like watching him in slow motion, he can't get around the pitch the way we need him to.

20 Apr 2017 08:00:20
Morning all. Ed001, we've seen Klopp tinker with 3 at the back last 2 games, or at least ot seemed that way to me, so you think this could be his prefered option from now on or was it just to get the extra CB in there to cope with Stokes and WBA direct play? I quite like that set up but feels like we have not got the right personel to play it and we are better suited to 433.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - horses for courses mate, against the bigger, more direct teams who lack pace, I expect to see the back three. I would prefer we didn't use it though, it just does not suit our players.}

20 Apr 2017 09:17:22
So for Palace as an example, would we assume back to 433. They will look to use Townsend and Zaha on the counter no doubt.

{Ed001's Note - that is what I believe to be the case.}

20 Apr 2017 10:29:49
Honestly I said it earlier in the week but palace leave their front three forward and I don't expect that to change and they will look to play down the channels and win it off us high if we play out from the back. That being said bar their front three after that initial press they are the not the most mobile in the middle and around the back.
So if our passing out from the back is precise given any sort of movement from our front 3 they should get space to do damage.
The main interest will be how much clyne and milner still push forward and whether Lucas will have the legs to cover the channels if they do.

20 Apr 2017 11:56:31
Just read that Lucas, Matip and Klavan all doubtful for the weekend. Time for Gomez?

20 Apr 2017 12:08:28
Matip again?

20 Apr 2017 13:51:52
That would be bad news I don't mind the idea of throwing Gomez in at the deep end first time around he looked assured and calm in everything he did but who would back up be god forbid one of lovren or himself took a knock early on, with Lucas out as well will leave us quite short in midfield. Assuming can drop to deeper and grujic perhaps in then? Or coutinho back and Trent even out wide.
Could be a very interesting lineup at least it will be difficult for palace to prepare for anything specific.

20 Apr 2017 15:04:38
Fankly, I'm starting to get worried about the fitness of our players. Either they are fragile or the training regime needs to be recalibrated or something cos it seems Matip for example, can't complete a full game w/ o some sort of injury. Hopefully, they can be passed fit for Sun cos I have little to no confidence in a Gomez-Lovren partnership cos one is a bit rash and the other is untested.

20 Apr 2017 20:21:24
Matip has suffered a lot with injuries this season. Can anyone shed any light as to whether this was the case while he was in Germany aswell or is it just since he joined us?

20 Apr 2017 02:59:35
I've seen you mention interest in Ricardo Pereira. Would this likely be primarily to fill in at left back? Or is the plan to compete with Clyne? I like the player a lot, but wonder if it's the former, is it not concerning to be looking at another right footed player starting at left back for us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we need both a right back and left back, to give Milner and Clyne a rest, apparently. Players these days are such precious little things they get tired if they have to play more than once a week, bless them. I mean it is not like they get taken away on all expenses paid holidays midseason or anything for winter sun is it? Oh wait....

Pereira is to cover both sides, so that Clyne and Milner can get a rest when needed or just be dropped when underpeforming.}

20 Apr 2017 06:36:49
Wouldn't TAA be giving Clyne a rest?

{Ed001's Note - that is if TAA stays at right back, that is not expected to be his position long term though by many.}

20 Apr 2017 06:56:05
What position is he expected to play in eds? Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - depends on how he develops, but more likely in a midfield role apparently. It could be he ends up staying at right back, but that is not the expectation.}

20 Apr 2017 10:33:46
A player I thought could change position is ojo I'd love to see him given a shot in some games where wijnaldum or lalanna plays with a bit of freedom to just try influence play.
How's he done since the back problems actually haven't heard anything the last while, is he still pretty much this season off and work from there?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, anything he does this season is a bonus really.}

20 Apr 2017 11:17:52
Didn't Stevie G play RB for quite a few of his first games. Just saying 😊
But I thought he was a midfielder for the reserves or under 21s etc and that he just played RB as that's where the need was.
I like TAA though has something about him.

20 Apr 2017 10:59:19
Well whatever position he play's in he look's a fantastic prospect.

20 Apr 2017 11:24:54
Ricardo Pereira is having a good season and I suspect Benfica would want a good money on the player. There is a good chance we might miss out on him. We need more than one full back for the next season.

20 Apr 2017 14:27:56
Looks like TAA will get a game this weekend, another three first teamers injured, late fitness tests .

20 Apr 2017 15:08:27
Harry, Perreira play for Porto but currently on loan at Nice.

{Ed001's Note - still I am sure Benfica would love to make good money on him, so he is not wrong.}

20 Apr 2017 21:02:51
Cheers ed.

Hi Ed01 bit of a personal question if I may, You are obviously a Red and you wear your heart on your sleeve . Do you find it difficult editing this page? Like you I bleed LFC and I really get upset and sometimes furious by some of the things I read on these pages . I understand that we all have our own views and opinions and it is healthy to discuss it in a forum but surely even you must get sick and tired by some of the sh*t . Don't get me wrong I really value your humour and knowledge on football matters and I am not suggesting that you edit other clubs pages, I am am just trying to understand your motivation for getting up and doing i.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I do sometimes get annoyed (to put it mildly), but I also cover all the pages we have, so I just leave this one alone when I need a break from it. It is just a case of remembering it is words on a screen and meaningless.}
