Eds, any idea why my posts are not being shown? I have posted a number recently, and they have not been shown.

Eds, do you think Liverpool are the greatest team
in the universe or do you think there might be a team
somewhere else, on some other planet some where, who could give us a game of football at least?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The team is doing well at the moment.}

Well I can only speak for this universe.
The answer is YES!

I'm not sure about parallel universes.
Unfortunately I think by the laws of quantum physics there might be a universe were we are actually terrible.

I know its hard to believe. Not the parallel universe bit. The terrible bit.

Another game down, 3 more to go. Today was a tight game, but a win is a win at the end of the day. I'm sorry to bring up some negativity, but does anyone think we looked slightly sluggish today? Mignolet had one of his poorest games in a Liverpool shirt, Sakho looked a bit slow, Lucas wasn't great, and even Suarez was very sloppy and Glen Johnson, don't even get me started on him. On his day he is one of the finest right backs in the league, but how often is that? I think his Liverpool career is over after this season. Had a good spell a few games ago, but two games in a season is nowhere near good enough. Has to go in my opinion. Sterling on the other hand, was simply out of this world. He has the world at his feet this lad. Expecting big things next season.
Cheers,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It wasn't our best game ever, but the pressure is in now, we have a young squad and there are very few players we have who are experienced in challenging for the league title. Couple that with the fact that Norwich are fighting to stay up and played superbly. These last few games aren't going to be pretty, but to hang on will test our resolve. I think taking all this into consideration to hang on for the narrow win today proves that we deserve to be where we are, and I'm more than happy with that. Next week with the 12th man behind us will be different.

Agree0 Disagree0

I always think Johnson gets unlucky as skrtel is weak on the ball, just ships it off to Johnson and expects him to do something!

Agree0 Disagree0

ROI. you are a very brave man, but I suggest you run and hide!
You will of course, immediately be accused of not being a 'real' fan as you have dared to suggest that we were not absolutely fantastic all over the field.
For me, posts like yours, open up more of an opportunity to involve one's self in 'banter'.
If we were all to simply point out how brilliant we are (and I think we are) without being willing to partake in banter relating to some issues you have raised, then what's the point!

As for GJ, its like he has all the ingredients. but refuses to make the cake!

Anyway, I'm off to hide in the shed!

Agree0 Disagree0

Every game, there will be a couple of players paying below par. I agree we were not at our best yesterday. I think scoring 2 goals early actually was a setback if anything. As soon as we get the 2nd goal, we change tactics and only play on the counter, this has been evident from pretty much every game this season. Most of the time, the opposition does get back into the game though we always have enough to win the game.

As for the players, I thought Johnson, Sakho, Lucas had poor games while Flanagan had a mixed game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I forgot Mignolet, who also had a poor game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought flanno made some superb runs and tackles and opened up space for coutinho. So i'd say he had a good game.

I normally try and defend keepers as a former keeper myself but migs wasn't on the ball.

Sakho I thought did well. He passes weirdly and with pace, but read most the game ok and looked strong on the ball

Skrtel I hate. He can't play BR's football, constantly plays the ball to people under pressure. rarely passes forward, if he does the guy is already marked. I want him gone. He makes some good last ditch tackles and headers and he's scored well this season, but he's f*cking up the system and putting pressure on the team.

I think I counted Glen Johnson giving away posession in our half 11 times yesterday. He can really take a running jump from the team. In our year where we are finally doing well, he's decided just to take a sabbatical

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't necessarily agree with you Bob but your way with words always amuses me! You sound like my old man. There are certain players he never has a good word for. Skrtel is one of them. He doesn't like Jonno either come to think of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow such vitriol from someone who usually posts sensible opinions, Bobatron. You hate Skrtel? Seriously? Ever looked at his stats compared to other PL defenders? Him and Coleman are right at the top of the tree. He has his faults on the field but gives 100% for the cause. And Johnson can take a running jump? Whatever happened to SUPPORTING the team instead of writing such embarrassing crap?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sivy, your point is taken: that to be critical of the team on this site can bring abuse. However, I believe some of the other lads have it right when they state that at this particular juncture that the form of individual players is irrelevant. What matters here is 'heart' and 'nerve'. Chelsea and Citeh couldn't find their heart or their nerve this weekend - we did. To criticise the players at this juncture - as we stand on the cusp of winning the premier league title is, in my opinion, somewhat petty. We ground out a win away from home and at a ground where that team are fighting for their premiership lives. God it's hard to criticise that! Then again, perhaps I'm wrong and we should've hammered them 7 - nil.
Respect to the lads that pull on that red shirt. For me they're all heroes and have given me bragging rights among a sea of Chelsea and United supporters. For that I am grateful. They've also given me pride and no end of pleasure.
Saying all of that do you think people that come to this site are dumb!? We know the are areas that need improved. There'll be a time for that. Right now let people enjoy their moment. It's been a long time coming.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jackzokay.

I thought it only polite to answer your question.
No. I do not think that people who come to this site are 'dumb'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Blocked, I can't hate my hatred of the player. Maybe it's clouding my judgement. I never pay too much attention to stats I think they can be used, but only in conjunction with what you see on the field.
When I see skrtel play I cosntantly see the wrong choice of pass picked, when runn back towards the goal, he runs to the player with the ball who johnson or flanno is already tracking, instead of into the space (Negredo goal vs us is a gem of a highlight for this) He has scored a lot, he's made some good last ditch stops, but he also gives the wrong pass for me on around 40% of the occasions. He's almost too determined to play rogers style.

As for Johnson, I don't want him at Liverpool, he looks so disinterested in games, he's constantly giving away posession in our half, forcing the 3 defenders to come across. I don't particularly believe it was an injury that got him sidelined. just like Aggers ''injury'' when Sakho came in.
I appreciated that people want you to get behind the team, and I will this season, but I don't want Johnson in this team next season, he won't work hard enough in the champions league based on this years performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 21:47:19
Another huge step to claiming that title lads. Forget the performance now whether you thought it was brilliant or poor or whether certain individuals didn't play well enough!

5 points clear and on a 11 game winning run which is unbelievable.

Let them keep doubting us. We'll keep proving everyone wrong! We will compete again next year, even with champions league! We have so many young quality players and a excellent young manager! We finally have the stability we have craved for years and we're going to get better and better!

Make us dream

20 Apr 2014 21:31:22
I don't understand this myth that Sakho is poor on the ball? . Just because he looks awkward doesn't mean he is. Am I the only person who thinks he's good on the ball?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he's been alright. Especially for his first season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. He just LOOKS shakey. In fact, he is very good on the ball, and always plays a forward pass, instead of skrtle who can only pass to Johnson. Today's problem was him getting sold short a couple of times and because no midfielders were showing feet, and Gerrard kept dropping to deep, in fact the whole back line was far too deep. But hey br knows what he's doing and I'm sure it'll be spoken about.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 21:44:06
I reckon it's what is known as the "Sakho Angle" that perpetuates this myth; that is the angle at which Sakho must lean back to successfully pass the ball. It is easily over 45 degrees.

He is good on the ball, and has even pulled off a few tricks against Swansea. He never looks comfortable (like Cissokho) but he actually is. Probably because he is so lanky.

He'll come good (although looking quite shakey). Remember he is only 24, at his first new club having been at PSG his whole career, in a new country with new friends and a different language. He was captain of PSG from a young age too.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has the potential to be an outstanding defender. Pace, power, strength, threat in the air and he will get better on the ball.

Look how much more composed skrtel is on the ball now compared to what he use to be. We have a good player there lads, back him!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm backing him all the way.I think he's a beast. We need two quality full backs, we're sorted at CB. I think we're always going to be shakey at the back just beacause of the players we throw forward in attack. Can't have it all ways! I know I wouldn't sacrifice our attacking threat to be more solid at the back. Can't understand everyone moaning!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jukebox is right. West ham, palace, chelsea have reasonable defensive stability.
Is that really what anyone wants?

Ok flanno and johnson are a little better at going forward than back. We have win 80 per cent of matches with flanno. Plus its like watching one of your mates on the pitch!

We have to take the rough with the smooth. And the smooth is SMOOTH! ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO, Sakho has had a mixed first year. I would like to think he would be better next year, more consistent and a regular starter.

He looks awkward when passing, but he does pick out a team mate the majority of the time. I think he sometimes just passes without thinking, onto someone who is under pressure or passes way to fast.

Also, I am not so sure he is as fast as people are making him out to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 21:10:17
Very big set of results this weekend. Credit to Norwich but we stayed strong and we got the 3 points. That really is all that matters.

Lots more still to do but I think that Mourinho has now privately given up the league. He realises that we are not in a false position and that we are not going to buckle.

Chelski will be concentrating on their Champions League games against Athletico Madrid. If we maintain the intensity and quality of our forward play then with the crowd at Anfield on Sunday we could finish Chelski off.

It would be icing on the cake to give Chelski a real beating but just so long as we do the job and get the 3 points.

Looking for Sturridge to be passed fit to play on Sunday as that gives us more firepower. Raheem has been brilliant these past few weeks.

I have now stopped worrying about our defensive frailty. We will sort our defence out next season but for the last 3 games we just have to go out and score at least 1 more goal than the team we play. Simple really especially when we have the best forwards and attacking midfielders in the league. Bloody hell when we have Stevie playing as a holding midfielder and yet with his 40 yard precision passing we can cut a team apart in the blink of an eye.

Other teams cannot deal with our pace intensity and passing quality. They might sort out a plan sometime but not anytime soon.

I am not going to criticise any of our players. Some may have better games than others but don’t worry about that now. Just give the team 100 per cent support and nothing else. We play Chelski and we want our 3 ponts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with all of that Tommy. Still expect Moaninho to talk up Suarez diving this week. He'll try and get Luis into a frame of mind where he's on the edge. If he loses it'll be because we have a fake set of fixtures. Only champions have to fight on four fronts, blah blah. He's a bully and instead of being beaten by the team he claims has more toys than him it'll be by the snivelling kid he once shared his sweets with. I respect his success but not his methods.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am sure that you are right about Jose but I think that the power of the red juggernaut at Anfield will just overwhelm Chelski and nothing Mourinho says or does will stop us on Sunday.

Even if Chelski manage to keep Luis quiet we will still find a way to beat them. They are already mentally weakened.

The fams will put an extra 10 per cent into the team on Sunday.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be very wary of Chelsea visiting Anfield. They were outstanding against City away when they needed to be, and when everyone was saying they would park the bus.

Also, I suspect we won't see us winning 4-0 or something like that, this season again. It will be close.

As for what Mourinho says, it has now got quite pathetic, but he will continue the way he has been. We just have to make sure we don't get agitated by his words.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Apr 2014 12:02:22
I think Chelsea will be a major threat next week, they've a strong team and will be up for taking 3 points from us if they can.

As for what Mourinho says, he was a breath of fresh air the first time he entered our league but has now become a wee bit bitter and, as my dad would say, is a legend in his own pants. He is starting to turn the fans and media against him much like in Spain so I hope he sorts himself out soon as he is a good manager and the PL is better for having him in it. if he can sort his attitude out (sorry Ed02)

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't underestimate Maureen. He whinges and he moans. He makes outrageous comments and acts like a spoiled brat. Some of it is pure arrogance, some of it is completely feigned. He acts like this to take the focus off his team, especially when they are beaten and it works! The man has won leagues wherever he has managed. He is easily capable of coming to our place and doing some damage and so is his team. Luckily we seem to just dig in when the going gets tough. We always seem to have another goal when we need one and the players never say die attitude has got us to where we are at today. Sterling was absolutely awesome against Norwich. At one point towards the end we were under a bit of pressure and kept giving the ball away. Someone got it to Sterling in the right back position. He had a look upfield and realised there was no outlet. He skinned his man and went on a run eventually casuing a throw in and relieving the pressure on us. Superb intelligence for a 19 year old kid. Suarez may not have had his best game yesterday but he ran himself in to the ground for the team. Always available, tracking back and pressing high, the man is class. All in all we shouldn't underestimate the potential threat of the chavs but we shouldn't be scared or to respectful either. We have the team and mentality to destroy them and at home with the kop in full voice I believe we will!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It clearly works as a large percentage of the Liverpool posts are about an obsession with the manager of another team.}

No obsession Ed. We are talking about him because we play Chelsea this week. He's said some silly and disrespectful things about our players and former manager in the past so hardly surprising we will talk about him on a football discussion site once in a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is all of the time. People craving him as a manager - it is constant.}

20 Apr 2014 20:34:24
Hi lads don't post very often but great victory today! Just wondering if anybody knows if either Suso or Borini are homegrown players? Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Both are.}

20 Apr 2014 20:49:31
Don't post on here much but always read the site would just like to know what everyone's opinion is on Rodgers? I personally think we have a great manager at the club and also a great tactician. I hope he gets the contract he deserves in the summer and is allowed to bring in the players he wants to make us even stronger next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If anyone questions Rodgers abilities now they are mad or just clueless about football. And like our team he will develop and become even better. Check the list of Premier League winning managers. If he pulls it off he'll be in select company. Aged just 41. that's like 19 in player years.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love him! I was sceptical when he took over, esp from King Kenny, and then with his first set of signings I was worried. I think the turning point came when we signed Coutinho and Sturridge. Again I wasn't convinced that these two would make a huge difference and how wrong was I!? I think our issue in the past has been complacency. We would turn up against the top teams and put in a good performance, and then screw up against mid table and relegation candidates with 20 shots on target and no goals. BR has somehow hammered it into them that games aren't won until the final whistle and to take one game at a time. He has worked miracles with Suarez, Sterling, Hendo, Flanagan, and Stevie has been sensational in the holding MF role. I never imagined he would turn the club around like this, I was keeping my fingers firmly crossed for top 4 but I just couldn't see who we would replace. The way he handles the media is great as well. Concentrates on the football and leaves the mind games to the kids. I really hope he signs a new contract and I hope he gets to have more of a say in transfer business. Long may it continue

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he has done very well, especially to change his style of play when he found out that our possession based football from the first half of last year was not working all the time.

Tactically he has been excellent so far IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is a cracking manager and, like Martinez, is a young manager with a very bright and loyal future. I wanted him from the start once the rumours started and I started to read up on him and his travels to top teams in Europe including the Spanish national side to learn his trade. It was a gamble by the owners but seemed well reasoned and in line with what they saw the vision to be. I think a lot of fans have been proved wrong, a lot proved right and a lot pleasantly surprised. Long may it continue

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed will sturridge be back next week?

Evening Gents,

Firstly, well done today.

Secondly, I can't believe how some of you can be so negative.
We are coming to the close of the season and you have had a fantastic week. Could you have hoped for more favourable results?.

Sunderland did you 2 massive favours at Etihad and the Bridge, combined with your great result at Carrow Road, against a team fighting for survival.

There are no easy games in prem, especially this time of the season. There are no givens but as well as Lpool are playing, you can't expect to steam-roll everybody, it just won't happen.

If you won £1m on lottery would you care if it was your normal numbers, a lucky-dip or a scratch-card? No, of course you wouldn't care as long as you won.

I appreciate you are keeping your cards close to your chest, I would do the same, but come on boys, stop being so negative and having a moan at your own players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post DG.
After reading some of the posts hear one might think that we had lost today.
But apparently we won, are top of the league with only 3 matches to go and with a 5 point lead over second place chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

School holidays Dags.

Any educated supporter knows that at this stage of the season it's about getting the job done and that is exactly what we are doing.

I would take 3 more scrappy wins if it gets us the title.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree dags, but one thing that puzzles me is why does Moses keep getting brought on, essentially he is a Chelsea player, our rival for the title, so even psychologically Moses may not be in the right place for us and it must be slightly demoralising to aspas and Alberto that he gets on before them

Agree0 Disagree0

Go easy on us Dags, we're a bit out of practice at this stage of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Post of the day Rob b. Give me strength!

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree and not sure how a fan from another team can mention this.

Did we play well? No; did we win? Yes; did I think I was going to have to ring Ken for his pants as mine were increasingly becoming soiled. let's not go there.

Seriously the term winning ugly is there as this is what happens. 3rd place guaranteed - 5 points above one of the two teams and 3 above the other.

I was disappointed at some of our play by the same token this season I've been blown way by our play.

I think we missed Henderson's energy today - however 3 more to go - win the next one then there are only two possibly winners.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken, don't wash those lucky pants mate lol

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 21:30:36
Can I just mention something that has always bothered me on this site. Whenever a somebody posts something nonsensical, people will blame the "school holidays" for it. I would just like to say that as a 17 year old who attends college, it is not our generation alone that posts stupid things but people of all ages. I never slag the team off even when playing below standard. I just try and support the team and remain positive. So please do not blame young posters for the drivel some posters may share.

Thanks

With Moses going back and Aspas likely to leave are we looking at bringing in more than 1 attacking player? I know Borini might stay but with our current squad we'd still be short given European commitments.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Aspas will get one more year mate. Should be more opportunities for him next year with more fixtures, he could prove an important player next year. I don't think Brendan is silly enough to pay 7m for a player with no plans for him whatsoever. He and Borini should be kept in my opinion. Doubt we'll go for more than one attacker with these options we already have.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Aspas is a good player too BUT who will need to improve his strength and baulk up in the off-season. The little I`ve seen of him shows that he is very clever and smart w/ deft touches and occassional flashes of class. He will defo get a chance because I don`t see BR spending that kind of money on a player w/o a real plan for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot depends on whether Aspas is willing to stay and wait for the opportunities. I hope he does but if you were in his position would you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas' agent says he wants to stay, but wants to play more. I suspect we will bring Borini back and let Aspas leave.

Hi Ed's, what players are we interested in for the positions; Leftback, Midfielder and Winger?
I see these as the positions most needed to strengthen in.

Not sure what I like most, challenging for the league or watching Manchester United slide back to the pit the came from.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

As much as it is fun to watch man lose i'd still like them to get europa league I think even with moyes in charge next year and the new signings there going to make it would certainly help them next year to try get back in the top 4 with no European games hopefully they can get in the europa league but its not looking likely but I have faith in moyes to still mess it up next year hopefilly

Hilarious that some people are being negative here.

TOP of the league.
11 games unbeaten
Check your heads whiners and get behind the players that got us there.
Norwich were fighting for their lives. They pressed every ball so we made a few errors. They played well. Give them some credit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more, it's all about the three points, and it's a very new experience for the team, it's all about winning the first title, a huge monkey to get off their backs, cut the lads some slack, keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times have you seen new managers installed at this time of the season for a relegation club and win 3 of the five games - it happens.

we still won - players will get nervy - more so as they know it might cost us the title.

I bet you these same whiners will still be complaining even AFTER we (hopefully) win the league because they just can`t help themselves. #Pathetic!

We a team that will win 3 4 or 5 1 but win we will, I can't understand the negativity. Yeah the mistakes are comical at Times, we have our weaknesses and everybody knows that, yet we still manage to win, this was like a cup game and nobody criticises a cup final if you win a trophy. That is the plan, win pretty or win ugly these games just need to be won, come end of the season and noboy will remember these mistakes we'll remember the flano goal, sterling's performance, cout's man of the match performance against city, Stevo's speach, Suarez bitting a gold medal. Chelsea come to us now, which team do you think has more confidence, we do 11 wins on the go, we are the team to beat stop bitching for three games that's all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great post! The whiners say they are only voicing their opinions by bitching because they say they care. Well if they cared, they would know that this is not the time to complain about a team that has some way some how, rang up 11 straight victories. This is THE time to stay together and surround the team w/ positive energy.

Phew! I'm so glad that potential banana skin is out of the way, all this time iv'e wanted Liverpool to be challenging for titles and it turns out I don't have the stomach for it at all, still wouldn't swap it for the world. One glaring issue is this ridiculous dawdling about at the back, Mignolet is like a kid constantly putting his hand on the stove and getting burnt then wondering why, he needs to realize the short ball to the center backs isn't always on.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I see your point BUT that`s what BR wants and these things will happen unfortunately. It`s up to the players to know when to pass the ball and went to put their foot thru the ball. That`s where I think the problem is IMO.

Is skrtel banned for next game? He picked up his 5th booking today

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Surely same as gerrard, yellows reset to zero in early April?

Agree0 Disagree0

That's what I though but not sure

Agree0 Disagree0

If a player accumulates five cautions between the opening day of the playing season and 31 December in the same season, he will be suspended automatically for one match.

If a player accumulates ten cautions between the opening day of the playing season and the second Sunday of April in the same season, he will be suspended automatically for two matches.

If a player accumulates fifteen cautions between the opening day of the playing season and the last day of the same season, he will be suspended automatically for three matches.

If a player then accumulates a further five cautions then he will be hauled before the regulatory commission, within seven days of the date of the last caution. The members of a regulatory commission will have the power to deal with the player in such manner as they deem fit. The same procedure will apply for every further five cautions received by that player.

Not a great performance today, but three points (and guaranteed UCL) is what matters. I'm not a big fan of Henderson, but I would much rather play him than Lucas. I really like Lucas as a guy, but he is sloppy in possession and gives away too many fouls. Henderson gives us more energy than him. On the bright side, Sterling and Allen were really great today, now let's just pray Sturridge is back for Chelsea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Still whining and bitching about players perfs after we won an 11th game in a row. Pathetic! Lucas is coming back from injury and it was the first time that he`s played 90mins so he looked rusty. We won and that`s all that matters at this stage.

If we played like that every week we wouldn't win all of the games redohio. I'm not overly concerned, of course, I'm delighted, but just because we won doesn't mean it was a perfect performance.

Just a wee reply to The Word.

I think its nonsense to suggest that the big teams have been poor this season. Chelsea will have more points than last. I also think that Citeh and The Gunners will end up with more points. Everton already have and Spurs will just fall short of their tally from last season. That to me would suggest that they have played better. Liverpool have played out of their skins and Manchester United have lost the plot. I think fans from other teams need to give Liverpool the respect their performances deserve and stop trying to look for excuses. We have been outstanding (even if we don't win the league) with a style of football above and beyond anything seen since The Invincibles.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

On the day that Liverpool confirmed CL football, Manchester United also confirmed that they won't be.
Have a very happy retirement Mr Ferguson.

Agree0 Disagree0

If anything, the top of the league teams are stronger this year than ever before. The top 5 or 6 will likely have the most points ever in the last 10 years. The top three are on track to all get 80+ points for the first time in 6 years. The league winners averaged 88.6 points over the last 10 years. The last two winners had 89 points. If LFC win out then we will have the league winning average. We will also break the record for consecutive wins in epl history. A big IF but it basically shows that, strength wise the league is about the same as the ongoing average and maybe a little bit stronger across the top 6.

So, stop listening to any nonsense about LFC taking advantage of a weak year. We are there on merit.

2013-14 80, 75, 71 with 30 points left to play for between the top three*. (256). * obviously 33 points in the 11 games left between the top three but LFC and CHE play each other.

2012-13 89, 78, 75 (242)
2011-12 89, 89, 70 (248)
2010-11 80, 71, 71 (232)
2009-10 86, 85, 75 (246)
2008-09 90, 86, 83 (259)
2007-08 87, 85, 83 (255)
2006-07 89, 83, 68 (240)
2005-06 91, 83, 82 (256)
2004-05 95, 83, 77 (255)
2003-04 90, 79, 75 (254)

Good win today against a team who threw everything at us. for those moaning! I think when man u and other teams won the title they scraped through some of their games or got the same luck where getting now.
2nd point. reading posts from other fans on some websites is so funny. 1st moaning, Liverpool haven't had many injuries lol I think we have as we all know as well as suspensions. 2nd Liverpool don't have champions league footy. maybe the eds can answer this but who was the last team who didn't play in the champions league win the title? I haven't a clue. 3rd how big is our squad compared to the others and the quality they have compared to our bench? Other fans make me laugh at the minute.
well next cup final coming up so good luck reds
YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think man city when they won it two years ago weren't in champions league not quite sure though.

Agree0 Disagree0

City were in the CL because they finished 3rd the year before. But they didn`t get out of the group stages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man City with all their investment played 6 CL games before Christmas two seasons running and that was it. Our squad with no additions could cope with half a dozen extra games. It'll be more though because on current form we are certainly one of the best 8 teams in a Europe. QFs next year and build from there!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 17:06:59
We got what we needed, 3 points. This stage of the season it doesn't really matter how we get them, just that we do.
It seems that Sakho and Johnson are at the top of todays 'Get rid of, not good enough' list. Whilst both didn't have one of their better games I think it wasn't helped by how deep we were, and how many suicide backwards passes were played to our defenders, Flanno give Sakho more than a couple today. Think nerves got the better of us today, as even Gerrard was playing a lot of backwards and sidewards passes. Also thought Lucas looked a little lost at times, but an away game with a team fighting for their Premiership survival was always going to be a battle.
These days even when we don't play particularily well, we are still winning, which is a quality we've been missing from our teams for sometime.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do people realise how much of an onus there is on the full backs playing the diamond. They provide width and have to get back. Toughest gig going. And Stop slagging Johnson & Sakho please. Sakho got caught in possession because he was given a hospital pass. Flanagan made more mistakes that hurt us than anyone but he's local so gets a pass. But the kid is just that - a kid. So I won't slate him. We won. Chelsea lost and City drew against the bottom club - at home. We beat a team that have tested most top sides this season at Carrow Road. Do people realise how much of an achievement this team is on the verge of? Support a group of players who will go down in our clubs great history if they see it through.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally, a post by some one with some football sense. We ere nervous and defended too deep which allowed Norwich to come onto us more which led to panic and mistakes. We still held our nerve and ground out a great win.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 16:32:01
To any fans saying some players aren't good enough: we've got champions league football again and we're strong favourites to win the league. No matter how poor you think some players are (granted not all have been great in every game) these players all played a huge part in getting us to where we are now, and if the next few weeks go our way, will be given their just rewards.

btw, sterling was incredible today and hopefully he continues like this for years to come.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Toright mate, I guess the other teams who won the title won every game easy lol moaners do my head in when looking at the smaller picture
YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's nerves from the fans. We're all bricking it and LFC don't make it easy. That's why some fans are having a moment.
It's perfectly understandable, but given our success, a touch unreasonable.

Did you know this is the first time in 32 years we have won 11 league games on the bounce. In 1982 we were kings of Europe in the middle of a 3 year league domination.

Amazing stuff from Brendan and the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken I just love your posts mate.Your more or less spot on with your reasoning and there is a lot of sense in them. You are right a lot of the moaning is unjustified. We have 3 games left to win the league so let's just concentrate on getting behind the team for the run in.

It's just nerves not bad players. and for all the slating going on the players still held out and got the result and were unlucky not to get a 4th goal on break.

Everyone needs to get behind the team right now and turn Anfield into a cauldron, just like 2005, and blow them away. I really feel that Man City will drop points this next week and if we beat Chelsea we are almost there.

Come on. We go again!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will give them hell at Anfield next Sunday. What City went thru last Sun was child`s play compared to the caldron of noise and pandemonium they will face. And as for City, they will defo drop points again because based on the awesome perf I saw from Everton against the mancs today, they have next to NO chance of getting a win at Goodison.

I don't know if some of you will agree with me but the below par performance of some players today is mostly psychological. The fear of losing is definitely hindering the performance of some players. I feel that Johnson, Sakho and Flanno needs to be psychologically on top to cope with the pressure of the remaining games.

It might sound negative but it's not meant to be. but has anybody ever won the league having conceded as many goals as us? I tried google but couldn't find tables for every year. If anyone has the answer please post. Also looks like we will break the 100 goals scored barrier this season. Amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Derby in 1975 conceded two more than us at present. but yes if (when) we win title it will be a Premiership record of winning title with highest no of goals conceded.

Before the sunderland game andy gray said its not time for close wins instead of the 3 nils and 4 nils he said we'll see a lot of 2-1 and 3-2 from Liverpool. spot on he was.

Doesnt matter how we win as long as we got the three points.

All three title challengers were against relegation contending teams in there last games (City and Chelsea at home)

Only Liverpool managed to shrug them off and get the required win so let's give them some huge credit.

Come on! 3 more wins!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, all the big teams have had a poor-ish season, I don't think it will be as easy next season

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree. I think the league will be like this for a couple of years. There are 7 teams capable of getting top 4 and 2 or 3 teams beyond that who are capable of beating big teams fairly regularly (Soton, Swansea, Newcastle). That means its unlikely that we will see a procession for any of the big spenders in the next few years. The CL is also more competitive now so it takes more to get out of the groups than a few years back which again stretches the resources of the major clubs. Liverpool will challenge again next year because we are more settled than United & Spurs, mentally stronger than Arsenal and have more resources than Everton. Finances and squad depth should make Chelsea & Man City favourites again but we look set for top 3 again next season to me.

Thought Joe Allen played well today! Anyone else?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with that, mate. Skrtel too. Obviously Sterling will get the plaudits and rightly so.

Agree0 Disagree0

No I thought he was very ordinary

Agree0 Disagree0

Im with chris. though to be fair not many players were amazing today. but i'm probably just saying this cause we have been so good so many times through out the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought Joe Allen played very well, saved a certain goal at one point with his quick thinking. Snodgrass shouldn't have been on the pitch by the time he fouled Mignolet. Great, tenacious performance. Can't always win pretty, sometimes need to dig in to compliment all those goals. Rest of team should stop giving Sakho poor balls to deal with, sometimes the 'Carra' boot is just what is required. Can't always play tippy-tappy when we're being closed down. Anyway, dust yourselves down and go again next Sunday. Three games from greatness, don't lose our nerve now. YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

Allen was excellent today, worked exceptionally hard for the team and showed a lot of grit. A few players let us down today - Allen was not one of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Joe was superb today especially in the first half.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm on the same kind of wavelength as Chris & Kaizer on this one, although admittedly I didn't get to watch all of the game. From what I saw, I thought he started brightly as the whole team did but then started to run around a little aimlessly especially in the second half when they were looking particularly threatening. Not bothered at all though as i'm delighted that we won which is all that matters. Thought Sterling was unbelievable, out shined Suarez in my opinion.
Roll on next weekend!

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting how many different people view his performance, let me clarify though if you will allow, didn't mean he was man of the match but he certainly put a shift in and made some good interceptions, overall IMO did well, I can guarantee this in every game from now til the end if the season each team we play will have chunks of the game were we don't hit the heights we've been treated to this year but think this is an opportunity over the next few games to hopefully show us his worth as a squad member over the next 3 games, I'll even back him to get his first goal of the season at some point to

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 14:34:37
There will be lots of criticism today for Johnson and Sakho, and rightly so but you have to remember it's just nerves. BR nor any of the players are sitting back on purpose (if they are it's a huge mistake) it's just that like it or not the chance to win the title is going to play on your mind. I know it's making me nervous and I don't have to try and play.
3 more games and 6 points required I think? I'd have taken that at the start of the season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sakho wasn't that bad. he got caught once but with gerrard & skrtel directly behind him and lost the ball from gerrard passing him the ball to his chest with three players closing in on him. Johnson thinks he is Dani Alves and Flano doesn't deal with balls behind him or in the air too well, Mignolet needs to be given a shot of testosterone but thankfully, thankfully sterling was on it. we won! and are 3 points clear if city with their games in hand…. which means in our next 3 games we can only afford 2 wins and 1 draw. either way we have 3rd place with our name on it but I think we have 2nd place in our pocket and the next two games are very important in determining how decisive the last game will (or won't) be.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need 7 point from 3 games to win the league, unless city drop points along with way in which case we would only need 6 points.

Agree0 Disagree0

7 points not 6. if we get 6 and city win there games they take in on gd

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the fault of Stevie G. He told the players at the City game to do exactly the same in the Norwich game. That's what they have done by winning by 2-3.

Agree0 Disagree0

Love this comment haha

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 14:26:48
If Glen Johnson gets a new contract it will be farcical. The worst defender we have by far. Bad distribution, bad defending, always retreats into his own 18 yard box, looks lethargic, lazy, uninterested and contributes little if anything positive. Consistently poor.

Don't know why we wanted to sit back so much but comical defending, comical attempts at playing the ball out and a static midfield once we were ahead made that game far more difficult than it ever had to be. We should have slaughtered Norwich - 3 points is 3 points but that was simply not good enough - Chelsea and Palace will not be as forgiving.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know, what makes it even worse is that ugly defeat for Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did Liverpool win 3-2 or lose 3-2?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure I agree with you Seano. He's improved massively defensively over the past couple of seasons, and since he's come back from injury this season he's been different class going forwards! He may not have had the best game today but he's still one of the best RBs around!

Anyway who cares! Top of the league and heading towards a first Prem title! YNWA

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not his biggest fan and never have been but we just won mate. The players will turn up for Chelsea and then it's game over. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm delighted that we won and some players (Skrtel, Sterling, Allen, Suarez) absolutely shone. It is a pet hate of mine to see players who do not have the desire or will on the pitch - I can accept lack of talent if their is 100% behind it. For Johnson he has the talent but lacks the desire to really utilise it - its incredibly frustrating to see it week in week out and I do not agree that he has defensively improved: retreating into your own 18 yard box is a disastrous way to defend against wingers and is all Johnson ever does. Add to that his haphazard distribution and benign attitude and it drives me crazy. Perhaps my post was made with the nerves and adrenaline still coursing through my body - we won and in my opinion deservedly so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all psychological for me. The fear of not losing and the importance of the three points is definitely hindering the performance of some players like GJ and Sakho.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you Seano. I'm not being negative about the game because it was another great victory! I just find it infuriating that all the players are giving their all, and Johnson just looks like a player who wants to stroll to the premier league title! He's far to slow, casual and lethargic in his attitude, and he really doesn't belong with the rest of the squad in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2014 14:18:31

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree0 Disagree0

Great to see calmness amongst some of the unbelievable digs at some players, to everyone else, what matters now is points and whilst we all want to beat teams by 3 and 4s it's those wins by a single goal that will get ya over the line, the need for good performances is in the run in so were in good form, tbf we can't be in any better form than 11 on the bounce, proud red as always, onwRds and upwards and onto the next biggest game if the season to Cheksea at home, come on the reds

Credit to Norwich as I thought they played very well today. Nervy one and perhaps Gerrard needs to be a bit more clear when he says 'more of the same' that he doesn't necessarily mean 3-2 with lots of defending at the end!

Important bit for me is we're now guaranteed top 3 and a seat in the CL group stage- well done to BR and the lads on that front!

Could be all over next week if city drop points to Palace and WBA.

Time to wash the lucky pants!
Come on you reds!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont wash those pants

Agree0 Disagree0

Ken - I love you and those lucky pants - you know what to do, gentle 30 degree wash, non bio liquid and a little extra fabric conditioner, then gently breeze on the line at 18 degrees with the washing line turning clockwise, then and only when bone dry, put those bad boys in the hot press with rose petals to gently re-fresh them for next week.

Tight game today, but 3 points is 3 points.

Agree0 Disagree0

Northof. Now you done it. now every manc and bitter is going to be stalking kens washing line. Ken. please upgrade security ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Security is air tight chaps, never fear. The only danger is if the washing machine keeps playing up. They are priority for the next working washing cycle though.

Suarez and Johnson were absolutely shocking today. Suarez has been for a while now. Looks like he's been carrying a nock?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yea but we still won suarez scored. 3 points job done ynwa

Agree0 Disagree0

So you don't congratulate our team winning instead you slate two of our players one that scored. Oh the joys

Agree0 Disagree0

He's trying too hard to make things come off in tight spaces. To be fair to him he is getting 2 and 3 manned every time he gets a sniff of the ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Suarez has looked a bit lethargic for a while now and his touch is not all there. Johnson is just a liability as is Sahko and Skertyl does us no favours grabbing about in the box.

I do wish we would stop faffing about with the ball near the box as pressing teams put us under pressure and we make mistakes. Probably need a new heart after this season with all the stress lol.

Still we got the three points and Gerrard & Sterling were quality. 3 more testing games to go.

Come on you reds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez was great today. I don't know what you were watching. He had at least 2 on him all game.

Johnson had some shaky moments but he generally played okay.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no way on earth he could have kept up his early season form. He's having a lull, but still scoring goals. Fine by me.

Agree0 Disagree0

These are the type who would whinge if they had Michelle Keegan bent over infront of them offering a free for all.

We are top get behind the team

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is MarcO one little unnecessary mistake could undo what the players have worked so hard for and as such it only seems right to point it out. Give credit where credit is due but at the same time have a word when needed. i'm sure BR will be saying the same things.

Agree0 Disagree0

Top of the league and still won and the first thing people want to do is slate players. We won end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

He scored 30 goals and had 12 assists and he is still shocking. You are mad my friend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking at all of you! Deluded. Great result and not prett football. I'm not hating, I'm just pointing out that Johnson and Suarez were crap. It's not an opinion. It's fact. Today. They were. Johnson can get close when stopping crosses and Suarez got tackled every time he had the ball, and did nothing but tap one in.

Maybe I'm being greedy, but I hope we can improve our goal difference today. It could prove essential.

Gonna be an exciting game!

I hope Aspas gets some game time today. Many fans say he isn't good enough for Liverpool, but let's be honest, we don't really know what he is capable of in the premier league.

Obviously Saurez will get a hatrick today as he always does against Norwich, but how many goals will he get in total today?

You always tear Norwich to shreds even when you not having the best of seasons, they must be fearing the absolute worst today.

I'm just glad Chris Houghton doesn't have to be there for it as he's a nice bloke and would got terribly abused by the Norwich fans if things turn out how I think they will.

Really big match for Joe Allen today (not that its not massive for everyone). Henderson's tireless, high-tempo pressing of the opposition midfielders has been a really important part of our success this season. It will be missed today. Allen looks the most likely of our middle three to take the Henderson role today. After a bit of a stop-start Liverpool career so far, Allen now has a chance to play a role in these next few season defining matches.

Right now in the league, we can afford to drop 2 points. Today can not be that day! We need to save them 2 points realistically for Chelsea. However, Win the next 2, and that's the title, in my opinion.

im sure everyone is tired from the temporary excitement from yesterdays result
but I hope you enjoyed it because norwich will get a draw today. 1-1 for me. lfc can't afford to have injuries at this time of the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank god. Was beginning to think your forget to predict Liverpool losing points. I feel much better now. :) cheers
Ps is it really that boring being a united fan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you actually for real mate? How many weeks have you been predicting our downfall for now? It's honestly embarrassing and nothing but a source of ridicule on this site. Odds are you'll be right eventually so you just keep coming on here each week? Haven't you got your own team to bother about

Id take a scrappy 1-0 today just for the 5 point gap it opens.

Read my previous posts, believe and support, there is something going on. Supported since 1972 season. Home and away. There is something happening under Rodgers. Cannot put my finger on it but it is there. I know it's not done yet but there is a belief. We know it but dare not say it, the players know but now is the time to keep working hard. Suarez had that look when he scored the second goal. Let's keep it going. This is not just a league title, this is a way of life for us old timers. Let's keep the noise up and defeat the opposition every game. We are all in this together and let us show the world that, WE ARE LIVERPOOL, tra, la la la.
ITS HAPPENING (I know, one game at a time) but its still happening

Morning Reds,

What an opportunity we have today to go 5 points clear at the top.

I think 4-3-3 is the way to go. Play Suarez central, Coutinho and Sterling at either side with Gerrard, Lucas and Allen as the midfield trio.

I'm going for 4-1 win with Suarez coming up with another hat-trick.

Ken get those pants on lad!

Red Rum

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I went for the ridiculous 5 2. put a cheeky bet on it, had another 4 match accumulator closing on a Suarez hat trick but Newcastle screwed me over yesterday, they just had to score two goals. anyway, who cares. we're going to win the league! :) YNWA

I think he'll stick with the diamond and give Aspas a chance to partner Suarez with Allen to replace Henderson.

If we win the title this year, anybody think we should write to the FA and request a winners medel for Borini?
He'd have to go down as the most important player not currently in the squad, his goals could prove very important.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If he comes back he will be full of confidence knowing that he has helped us. if he doesn't come back his value will have risen, especially if Sunderland want to keep him.

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt his phone was hopping after the match with Liverpool players saying thanks well done ect always liked that fella done more for Liverpool than half a the squad haha

Congratulations IR, on your baby girl. I've two girls myself and we watch all the Liverpool matches together. My youngest still thinks the name for a goal is Suarez, because he's scored so many times - so she says things like how many Suarez have Liverpool got now? Or when I shout goal, she shouts Suarez!
