My view on the game is that we will never know what the result would have been. The Rodwell challenge was 50/50 whether or not it was a foul or not nevermind a red card.

Carroll was quiet but he did his job he got back to defend the set pieces and scored a goal. Enrique is so far our best signing so far with such consistent brilliance.

But Liverpool weren't certainna win after everton went to ten men as Everton put real heart and effort into it and made it a good game but it was our depth that won us the game as with the likes of Gerrard, Henderson and Bellamy who set up the goal for Carrolkl and as Everton back got tired with the constant possesion of Liverpool they finally made the one mistake but that is all Suarez needs.

-McMenemy

Can i just say I thought Carroll did great today and took his chance well after reading it sounded like i was harsh on him this isn't the case he had a good game -McMenemy

Thanks for your comments on the derby sir Alex. Good to see you worried.

Sorry forgot to add previously I have to also make special mention to carra, I am also one of those who thinks it may be time 2 slightly phase out carra 2 role of ver important squad player rather than auto 1st choice but today was right up his street,a real battle & once again he totally excelled himself, brilliant, put his body on the line for the cause if u will & this is why he is ideal 4 the blood & thunder of utd but Norwich at home perhaps someone different, then back in 4 Stoke in the cup, what do you think ed?

Steve. {Ed001's Note - I have to say, in games like the Derby, there is no one better, he was excellent today. But I do feel he shouldn't be automatic first choice any more, his lack of pace is forcing the defence and midfield to drop too deep.}

Thanks ed, totally agree I just think with agger out & caortez " bedding" in we r bring forced 2 play that way & it's stifling us in games against teams like wolves last week but horses 4 courses against utd, everton & any of the big 6 away he's ideal, would there be any of the youths who could step in as the "agger" type until he's fit ed?

Steve {Ed001's Note - I think Wisdom has the makings of a good centre back, but we let the Agger-alike Ayala go in the summer, he was virtually a carbon copy but right footed.}

I would rather lose with honour, than win in disgrace.

Today, a player playing against Liverpool was sent off for making a perfect tackle on a Liverpool player.
The incident took place about 2 meters away from the referee.

The tackled Liverpool player acted as though he was badly injured, waving his arm in the air whilst on the floor to gain attention for his injured state.

The player was not badly injured.

The referee was not required to provide a public explanation for his decision which had a massive influence on the outcome of the match!

The same referee has made bad decisions in the past against United v Chelsea. Again, the same referee was not required to offer an explanation!

There is nothing strange about this sequence of refereeing decisions.

Nigel Atkinson is a UEFA referee.

The Premier League is not corrupt.

Cheats never prosper.

Congratulations Liverpool FC, I hope you are proud of your "win" today.

Sir Alex x

Calm down "Sir" Alex, you've still got Howard Webb.

Blair Myane YNWA

Thanks sir alco, we r proud, what is your point?

Steve

Then being a United supporter you would 've have been disgraced many times .. I do remember a couple of years ago Everton being denied a winning goal because the referee decided time is up 30 seconds before it should.
Roy

Stuff me a manc talking about refs and cheats never prosper they have not done bad have they just two words howard webb

Sir alex x, who is Nigel Atkinson. How can you comment when you don't even know who reffed game - it's Martin Atkinson.

D 2308

Yes Roy, I remember a team being denied a goal that was about 6 feet over the Man Utd goal line. I also remember Rooney diving for a penalty against fellow England team mate, Sol Campbell when he played for the gunners, not even close to being contact. Absolutely disgusting behaviour! But I wasn't surprised! It's nothing new.

The Irish Rover

"Sir" Alex, your post seems more aggresive this evening, compared to your usual BS. I've got this niggling felling that you are a Toffee not a Manc, yes?

Blair Mayne YNWA

Blair
Is this not the Alex who used to be on the original one page banter site? If so, he is indeed a toffee fan. He changed his name out of admiration of Sir Bob the Red!

The Irish Rover

Blair,

I am convinced sir Alex is an Everton fan. ED001 if you still around, do you think sir Alex x is the same Sir Alex the Everton supporter from the main pages, the one that want to be Bob The Red special friend?

Roy {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I haven't really taken much notice to be honest. I don't get to edit the Liverpool site as much as in the past, normally 009 is hogging the limelight in the hope of finding himself a new bf....}

Wise up you duck,
people on hear just laugh at you hope you know that.
king henry

Cheers, Roy and Irish Rover. I had a feeling he was a Toffee.

Blair Mayne YNWA

A certain Mr Ronaldo springs to mind.

JRG

Hey Sir Alex - just for the record, Suarez was caught with the following leg (although I agree it wasn't a red card). However, Cahill, Fellaini and especially Hibbert all could have walked for over the top challenges.....So stop whinging and get over it. And, of course, Utd players never over react do they.....

You really are a numpty.

ConnorsLFC

Blair, do you ever see slur alex on the Manc site? Exactly. He comes on here as there is no one to talk to on the bitters site.

Dont forget the Gerrard red card in the FA cup last year, another one that should never have been red. Oh but when Man u win due to dodgey desisions the media dont make a massive fuss about it do they!. Anyway I think we all agree Everton were fouling a lot in the first half and deserved a red card on several occasions. At least 2 other tackles could have been deemed red cards so they got off lightly. Good win yesterday and we are happy with it.

Sir alex you are well and truly the biggest d*** head ever, wat a complete joker
Jaydee

01 Oct 2011 22:53:43
Hi all fans and eds a well earned win, everyone did well, and about the red card I think it was because the book says a tackle where studs come show and it was double footed and he did catch suarez as he was following through, yes it was a red card. Still well done to all the team, of course there is room for improvement no team is perfect. I wish john henry a quick recovery and hope this game lifted his spirits. Ed what is your take?
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I am just happy to get the result, derby matches are never about a performance anyway. Good to see Carroll score too, he needs some goals to get him going.}

Dont get why players lunge in studs showing anymore. You know how ref's are these days. Esp in CM, is it worth it?

01 Oct 2011 22:36:18
Really pleased for Andy Carroll, last 2 performances have been better and hope he can kick on from here.

I appreciate people can have an opinion on Carroll but he has been bought, his transfer fee is £35 million and he will be our no 9 for the next 3 to 4 years. As long as he is committed to club and plays to the best of his ability its not in our interest for him to fail. So why do so many people want him to fail so badly?

If you support LFC you should be wanting him to succeed more than ever. I think the best is yet to come and that Gerrard and Bellamy might aid his game more.

Come on mighty reds.

YNWA

D 2308

He'll be our No.9 for the next 10 years I hope

LFC Eaton

01 Oct 2011 22:34:50
Its a derby you need commitment and luck and we got both haha ! Never a red card, the ref was weak for both of us, don't know how he is a ref in the prem !
Thought Carragher was class and loved Kuyt duck for the first goal.
Game was ruined by the ref though, but 3 points is all that matters bring on the mancs !

hey ed001 or ed002..
i know it has been a long time now.. nd i'm not 1 to live in the past
but i'm just curious if you could just explain to me all the circumstances that led to Torres' exit from liverpool..
was it his own decision? was he thinking about it for a while?
Thanks in advance ..
S.G.L. {Ed001's Note - he fell out with the club over his treatment during an injury the previous season. It just festered from there and he sulked, a lot to do with him being aloof from the squad and so disliked as well. It was his decision and he had wanted to go in the summer but been persuaded to wait and had promised to stay until the following summer. But then Roman's cash was wafted under his nose and he forced his way out in January.}

So none of that crap about him being misled by his advisers and him feeling sorry after the move are true? {Ed001's Note - oh no, utter nonsense that is. He has never been a true team player anyway, he never got involved with team bonding and kept himself to himself. He fell out with Gerrard and Carra a number of times because of that. It was him wanting out, rather than him being talked into going. He did the same at Atletico when he joined us, so I suppose we just ended up reaping what we sowed. Can't expect loyalty from a player that will dump the club they support to join you.}

Wow.. i never knew about all that .. thanks for that ed.
but then again, what can u expect of the modern day footballer..
i wouldn't be surprised at all if Luis wanted to leave after a season or 2 if Madrid or Barca came calling.
Thats how fickle football has become.
Its sad really..
S.G.L.

Completely off topic i know.. but i was really fascinated with the way Jose got rid of Guti and Raul as soon as he took over at Madrid.
I heard some rumors that the 2 players had too much player power in the dressing room.. even more than the countless coaches they played under..
do u think Gerrard and Carra have the same player power in our dressing room?
And if yes.. does it affect the team in a negative way?

S.G.L. {Ed001's Note - yes and it can be negative and positive. Under Roy it became a negative, Dalglish has very much made it a positive.}

Thank u so much for that ed001..
u guys do a mighty fine job.

I could go months asking questions.. thats how much i wanna know about the football world.. Lol..

S.G.L. {Ed001's Note - ask away, makes a nice change from just answering questions about who is going to sign. If us editors can't answer, we can always post it up and someone else will be sure to know.}

What a great question s.g.l & thanks 4 the very "interesting"answer ed we should all b eternally gratefulll fir kk as the tosser commentator said today this time last year we were 4th bottom & staring into the abyss! {Ed001's Note - I think people need to bear that in mind when we fail to win, Dalglish has not walked into a title challenging side, he took over a struggling side. Him and Steve Clarke have worked a minor miracle to put us in a position we can challenge for the top four this season.}

So ed, was Torres disliked within the whole squad during his years at lfc? boom.... {Ed001's Note - not really disliked, he was just not one of the lads so to speak. He never made an effort to be part of the team at all.}

I think Suarez is different to Torres in th efact that he cares about the team, whether or he's loyal to us, the only time he sulks is when he either doesn't get the ball or is subbed off. I think he is trying to get to know to other players and it seems he know Maxi, Lucas and Kuyt better. If him and Carroll can form a partnership then the whole world will fear playing us.

I actually felt embarrassed after asking so many questions & went to bed.. Lol

S.G.L.

Good evening boys and what a good one it is
the sun has shone and we beat the bitters in their in own back yard, granted the sending off was harsh but we haven't had the greatest slice of it of late, so u take the smooth with the rough, but my main comment is on the start we have made sitting with 13points from 7 after enduring 4 of our hardest 7 away games while the ugly sisters from manchester have been nowhere except Stoke & spurs respectively, we really should be very optimistic for this camaign and if & it's a big if we can beat the filth we could really be looking at higher than 4th, my final point is the continuing performances of Lucas who many won't agree but this lad really is the business
He is developing into a truly vital member if our team & alongside reina, stevie & suarez is establishing himself as world class
to sum up we r a cock stride off the top with the impending fully time return of our inspirational skiiper after the int break, the future is very very bright! Steve.

01 oct 2011 21:53:11
the midfielder played the full 90 minutes for ian holloway's side and netted with a superb free-kick after 66 minutes.

he also created the first goal for gary taylor-fletcher. winger david amoo was also on target in bury's 3-1 win away at yeovil town in league one.
amoo is on loan with richie barker's side until october 22

so why we need so call superstar our young star need a chance to proof that they can be superstar.

Hi Eds/All,

Just a quick post re the biased nature of Sky. During the build up to the game today the guy said something about the dominance of Everton domestically during the 80's.....Well, I don't call 2 league championships dominant against the 7 or so of LFC.....

I have to say that the general anti LFC view of Sky along with the use of clear biased commentators such as Neville really annoy me.

I'm so glad Kenny puts them in their place.

Has anyone else noticed this?

ConnorsLFC

Yes its extremly annoying.

conor

I should add that I am seriously considering cancelling my Sky subscription (which I only have to watch LFC as I can only get to Anfield a couple of times a season) because of the general anti LFC media work and commentators such as Neville. Anyone else of this view?

ConnorsLFC

I gave up on skysports when neville joined them.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

I did watch all the build up today and sharp was saying that we were miles ahead of everton in the 80s but i don't recall that part, who said it do you remember?
hibsylfc

I don't listen to Sky pundits, newspapers etc, etc, Connors mate. When ever i want to know anything about football, i just log onto this site.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ditched sky years ago when Gray and Keyes kept mentioning The mancs during every other game being played. Hated that stupid subbuteo toy Gray had too. Horrible company, horrible presenters.

Hi Hibylfc, it was the commentator supporting Sharpe and Souness during the build up to the game who came out with the stupid statement.

For me the best bit of today was dirk's duck out of the way for Carroll's goal. What a legend!
I mean not only did he have to be aware of what's behind him and totally unselfish but also the speed that he threw himself down was ridiculous. When the ball goes over him I swear it was only travelling about knee height. It's like some crazy forward limbo.
Mad skills.
Duckula

Hi almost forgot that move it was brilliant,was watching the game with a gent who had never seen a game before and he spotted it even before the slo/mo.(godin)

Yeah, in some silly way, it reminded me of the Baros 'breathe in' when Smicer got our 2nd goal in May 2005!

01 Oct 2011 21:33:46
As per usual people moaning about todays result.
Since the end of Jan we have bought in saurez,Carroll,Enrique,Adam,downing and Henderson.
All of them pretty much playing every game this season.
So that's 6 new players playing in an 11 man team , do you not think its going to take time for them all to gel!
It's going to take time , I didn't think we played that bad today myself.
But teams that play bad and still win , are the teams who win things.
Giv

The team are still picking up points and in my opinion may be going through their so-called bad spell. There's a lot more to come I'm tellin ya.

i know rodwell didnt play that long today but is he as good as they are saying he is. maybe as good as stevie? is he a red fan? why are everton getting all good young local lads? a great win today and am not worried about man u, pity about international break. its the three league games after that, norwich west brom and swansea. in last few seasons its these type of games that we left points behind us.

Im sure the commentators during the game said something about the youngsters that are coming through. there arent many in the liverpool that have come through their ranks but everton have all over the place. they have to do it because they cant afford to buy players but they do seem to have all the gd local players. the liverpool youth system isnt bad but they dont seem to bring through the youngsters.

GMN {Ed001's Note - you mean youngsters like Kelly? People really talk utter nonsense, the only reason none came through for a while is because we had no decent ones. That is why Rafa had to rip the youth academy apart and hand it over to the Barca guys.}

How many have came through over the last 5-10 yrs compared to evertons. i said liverpools system wasnt bad its just compared to everton they dont bring through anywhere near as many.

GMN

Agree Johnson6, there are far to many negative fans out there that slag our team off but instead should be behind our squad.

If you feel that negative about our great club, go and support City or Chelsea. True Liverpool fans will support our boys even when there's a rough storm.

I and many others on this site will support our boys through thick and thin coz that's what we do, its in our nature.

Yes ya can have ya opinion, but do n't call ya self a true fan coz true fans back there team and SUPPORT the boys when times gets tough

Good result today lads, 3 points is 3 points now let's beat the red s**te from Manchester and push on for that CL spot.

Thumbs up tizer red, i agree and the way people slate ex members as deadwood is disgracful

Well happy today nothing better than a derby win i thought Carragher was absolutely brilliant. A captains hero performance. I thought second half Carroll was unplayable.

We are grinding out results which is important if Man Utd was doing this everybody would be saying this is stuff of champions instead they have a dig at Liverpool.

Eds what do you think of Jason CUndy he cant wait to slag off Liverpool is he just a bitter southerner?

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - small time footballers like him are only in a job as long as they can stir up people to phone up and rant at them. He has to be like that or they wouldn't employ him. Simplest thing to do is not give your money to any Murdoch company (ie Sky) or listen to Talksport (who, after all, are quite happy to pay the likes of Kelvin McKenzie), then you won't hear the nonsense coming out of the mouth of no marks looking to make a name for themselves.}

01 Oct 2011 20:47:11
It was a good win today, although Rodwell should never have been sent off. Every team is now subject to these amateur extras mangling a professional sport. We have been on the wrong end a few times already this season, as were Wolves today, the incompetence never ends.

Blunders are now the norm for all refs and linesmen. Alas it seems they are beyond reproach in the eyes of the out of touch F.A. and its silly respect campaign, In my book respect is earned and not bestowed in some administrators little rule book.

It seems there isn't a willingness to address the fact that football is actually been ruined because of weak officiating. I think the F.A. have pandered to the bit part players and made these officials more important than the actual game, the teams playing, or the fans who pay the wages. I don't suppose its our game anymore, its now owned by passionless pencil dicks and pen pushers.

Match officials are increasingly incapable of making the right decisions. The game is obviously far too fast for them, they miss too much and too often, and then have to make a judgement call based on what they think happened, rather that what they know happened.

It's long overdue that video replays were introduced during games. Its essential for the health of the game, but then again we can probably expect sweet F.A. to ever change.

Charkey

Agreed, they should also get referees from Rugby Union, teaching football refs how to handle players / situations.. They've got to be in charge of the game, without ruining it!

01 Oct 2011 20:43:24
a wins a win. 3 more points on the table. obviously sendings off change games, as do subs. we knew it was work in progress, and it would take a few months to get a shape and style with new players, and apart from the s**te at spurs its been ok, not fantastic, but better than this time last season.

A derby win is a derby win. Who cares who played well or bad, 3 points against the Toffee noses is always that little bit sweeter.

Can't wait for the Manc game. I'm pretty sure we are going into it, with more confidence than the are.

Blair Mayne YNWA

01 Oct 2011 20:32:15
Before people carry on about how poorly we played and it was only 10 men etc, just remember- even with EFC down to 10 men we still had a job to do to win the game, and the lads did it professionally and came through- many teams would have stumbled and drawn or worse.

Onward and upward- bring on Utd!

From what I can remember we had only 6 points from the first 8 games last season. At the minute we sit on 13 points with our 8th game against the Mancs to come. This alone has to be a massive improvement on what we had to suffer last season. Would the 7 extra points we have already got us into a CL spot last year? We also have that terrible period around & after Christmas to maybe accumulate extra points based on last seasons performances. I'm a realist & I'm not going to boast on how we will win the league but a top 4 spot is on. I just hope that Spurs & Arsenal go well in the Europa & CL cups. As they go further in these comps their squads will be stretched. I'm hoping big Andys goals are like buses! You wait for one, then they all come at once.

I think carras far to slow,carrols to one dimensional,gerrards past it,Lucas far to defensive,Adam's never looked like a Liverpool player.only joking was a great performance carra was a rock today proved many doubters wrong so did big Andy.

As a red since i was five, i am so proud of how King Kenny handled himself in the post match interview today ( and every other game ) . He refused to get involved in the headline grabbing bulls**t quotes that you see other managers getting roped into giving by lecherous , non football, moronic ,media types. Can you imagine Hodgson standing up to them in the way Dalglish did today and question their line of questioning? He does'nt suffer fools gladly and takes none of their crap. He respectfully tells them to f##k off when THEY dont show respect. He was just after coming down the tunnell folling a win in the Derby and the first thing he hears is 'was it a sending off' , from some drooling simpleton , dying to get the 'scoop'. Kenny was having none of it, nor was he having any of the 'well the monkey must be offf Andy Carrol's back' line . "figment of youre imagination" he told the reporter , regarding pressure on Carrol. He supports and believes the in player he brought to the club.
Kenny Dalglish represents my club, the club i support, the club i love ... and he does a f##king good job of it. Long live the king. You'll Never Walk Alone.

Dara D

Well said my friend. In king Kenny we trust. He will make us Champion again, trust me.

01 Oct 2011 20:12:00
Roy, i might be accused of shouting other posters down for the 100th time. But i'll name the you and Ash as just negative posters who want nothing but perfection which aint gonna happen. We aint in the C.League. Which means we cant attract the cream of the crop yet, but were still up there. Utd have shown their not all cracked up to be, but when they win ugly, its character, team spirit they put it down to. When we do its a total direction of the team players,manager etc, off a few but mainly you two. Keith was man enough to come back and say how he felt. If he felt ashamed its upto him, if he never he's a liar and i wouldn't call someone i dont know i liar so fair play Keith . But it doesn't matter how we play, same old s**t. Bet you've been a season ticket holder for 30 years or justify it by saying that. Same with Ash. Constant moaning, everyones entitled to their opinion but even after a derby where form and sometimes football goes out of the window a win will do for me any day of the week. My grammer upto scratch today Roy, you even bothered to take time out of your life last night to have a go at it. Not really assed to be honest but just goes to show how petty you are. Why not just support the players and team to that C.league place, we'll players who will crawl over glass to be part of the magic of a C.league night, that will want to join us then but we've got a very good squad as it is in my humble opinion. Why not support it instead of slaggin it. Every f***in game, same posters moaning about the same players doing the same things re of the result. You want instant gratification. A good old ham shank or the old cheggy of support City spring to mind. Jonson6

Go on jonson6 !

Another foul-mouthed rant from Jonson6. Has it ever occurred to you that I want more for Liverpool than you and that although I'm critical, it's only because I want the best for Liverpool and I don't get carried away because, being a Liverpool fan, I have seen so many false dawns? If you are genuinely happy with the way we are playing, then fair enough. I still see the flaws to our game. Do you think KK will come in on Monday and say 'well done lads, you can all go home because theres nothing to work on?' We cannot keep hold of the ball long enough, our midfield seems to lack guile or a 'number 10' if you will, we don't close down quick enough, Andy Carroll still lack movement and doesn't look lively enough. I am not ashamed of my opinions and I certainly don't use profanity and expletives to get my point across unlike you my friend.

Ash

Sorry for the delay johnson6, probably you were waiting all evening for this response.
Lets start with your grammar (note its ar not er) ..sorry to say its even worse than before, but possibly its the blood rushing to your head.However my grammar, spelling and english is just as bad if not worse, I wasnt judging; As I explained to you yesterday, I found someone posting about writing a book in 2 liners that had more grammar / spelling mistakes than my 9 years old english literature homework amusing.
Back to the matter at hand:
- Do I want perfection , no I dont I want 4th place, with the demise of Arsenal its our best chance, If we dont grab it this year then dont know what will happen, Reina have given us enough chances, and the vultures out there waiting to bounce, Suarez will follow.
- C. League players?? Dont know what are you on about! second half of last year we were awesome if the season was started in January we would 've finished second, we played excellent football, great understanding between Raul, Suarez, Kuyt we just lacked width , but instead of investing on that area we spend 16m or ist 20 on a midfielder who is not good enough and move one of our best players last season on for next to nothing .. I dont want perfection I just want us to play as we can play and proved it just few months ago.
-- I am not old enough to be 30 years season ticket holder, but was old enough to experience the feeling of being on top of the league , we won everything playing good football, Hansen and Lawro wouldnt have dared to hoof the ball , and we scored more headers than we do these days -- I want these days and feelings back, its not instant gratification , been waiting over 20 years for it.
-- I am not a fickle yoyo fan, when we win they came out with the league is ours, and a week later if we loose even a game we controlled they came with lets sack the manager, I know we are not playing well and I know what happened at white hart might happen again, and If you did nt feel the pain after that awful game then I wonder how much of a supporter you are.
--And lastly .. Its getting really annoying questioning people support if they dare to critise, every one have a right to express their view, I respect your support, but dont dare question others little man.
Roy

Ash i agree mate about the midfield. Charlie is just not mobile enough, to cover ground and put pressure on the opposition's midfielders. I think the guile will come back mate, when Stevie is fully fit.

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed001's Note - that's why we need the defence to play higher up the pitch, so the midfield can be closer to the opposition.}

I think that's a bit risky Ed mate. Our defence isn't the quickest, and will be caught by the quick counter attacks. We have no pacey CB's, maybe Agger but he's no Usain Bolt. This a weakness for us imo, we have and will be caught out again.

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed001's Note - exactly my point, we need some pace in the centre back position, so that we can push higher. The full backs have plenty of it, so we don't need to worry about those.}

Johnson6 speaks his mind and then backs up his opinion... I wouldn't mind if more people explained there opinions -McMenemy

Skrtel's quick Ed, but clumsy. Kelly is our quickest CB, when would you consider sticking him into the centre? thanks.

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed001's Note - I think he is far too good a RB to move him inside, though, if Johnson was fit, I would move him inside to replace Skrtel. I know he isn't slow, but Skittles just reacts too slowly and so gives the attacker a head start. Plus he still seems unsure in the air since the clash of heads with Carra, as well as reckless in the challenge. To be fair to him though, he did play well at the end of last season, he was even carrying it out of defence, which is something we are missing at the start of this season without Agger.}

Just got in from the Match, Liverpool City centre is really lively great place to be after todays win.
Just been reading some of the posts about Suarez not being Man of the Match.?
I can assure you he was! He never stopped for the full 90 minutes was always putting there defenders under pressure and was a constant threat. Not his best game ever in a red shirt. But the lads work rate,skill and threat to the opposition is immense! How many supposedly class forwards go missing away from home?
Not Suarez! Can't get enough of watching him play...

He will be at Barcelona next year.

And you say United get all the decisions. HA, seems nobody is complaining about one of the harshest red cards I have ever seen.

G.A.G.U.S

I think you'll find many people on here have said it was a terrible decision. However, Cahill could very well have been sent off for his challenge a few minutes later which was far worse.

Mr Benn

G.A.G.U.S - if you bother to read some of the posts below you will see lots of people are complaining about the harsh red card. We have been on the end of some very bad refereeing decisions this season and this is just another example of the general ineptitude of ALL referees so far this season. It may have helped us this time but with the current standard it could just as easily go against next time which is why many of us are worried.

JRG

We've been the reciprant of some awful decisions so far this season, GAGUS mate. They say these things "even themselves out, during the season" if this is true we are still owed 2-3.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. You are a terrible, terrible team with a terrible, terrible defence (which i've been telling you all season)

One of the worst decisions I have seen. The speed of the challenge was immense and I think that is what fooled Atkinson. Ruined the game as a contest for me.

Dirks Engine Room

Jayus we got one.and ive seen alot worse giving to united over the years.
sometimes i really do G.A.G when reading your posts.

Blair Mayne

I remember me and you talking about referees on the United page after Chelsea vs Tottenham last season. I think we can both agree that the standard is as low as anywhere else in the world. Mark Halsey made a bad one today aswell. I was absolutely astounded to see Martin Atkinson refereeing in the Champions League during the weak with his history.

Secondly, I think you will find that our defence is not the problem, it is our midfield. Surely you, with your supposed superior football knowledge, can see that there is absolutely zero cover for Jones and Evans lately. We have been discussing Evra no longer being good enough for ages now on the United site. Jones and Vidic should be the first choice partnership from now on. I admit a new left back is needed in January or next summer, hopefully Izzaguire. Smalling at right back.

G.A.G.U.S

GAGUS - just wondering whether you think Fergie regrets selling Pique? Thought he looked a bit lightweight when he played for you lot but he has developed into a fantastic ball carrying centre-back now, was he let go too early?

JRG

Probably, but he isn't much goos when under pressure. Would still rather him over Evans.

G.A.G.U.S

Your defence is a major problem GAGUS mate. We all know how rubbish your midfield is, but when United were beating all in front of them at the start of the season. I was still telling you, that there is flaws. Remember all the TV/Newspaper coverage about Jones, Smalling etc and how they were "Fergies Boys"? But still i kept telling you Mancs "Your defence is not that good" and "You are not that good"

I 100% agree with you on refs mate, and always have.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Jones, Smalling and Vidic are top class. Smalling and Vidic together with Jones at right back? Rafael is going to be a good right back. Yes, he's a little rash right now, but he has dealt with the likes of Bale and Ribery with ease in the past. He will learn with time.

With regards to midfield, there is a lad in the youth called Paul Pogba who needs to be given a chance, and Ravel Morrison will blow everyone away when he makes his debut. We need a defensive midfielder like De Rossi or Vidal.

G.A.G.U.S {Ed001's Note - not sure you can suggest Morrison will blow everyone away with his er record off the field. People might get the wrong idea!}

Ha Ha. That would be quite a debut.

G.A.G.U.S

The twins don't seem to be improving whatsoever GAGUS mate. Without biased i think that young Flannagan, is already a better RB. Watched the Inter game earlier and they got stuffed 3-0. If they don't improve by January, me thinks you'll go back in for Sneijder, and he'll come this time. You defo need some one like that, i'd take Martinez he would be perfect for you.

As for Morrison mate, he'll probably be in jail. Playing for B-Wing.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Yep, the Liverpool v chelsea game in the 2007/08 season at Anfield, the prime example of shocking refereeing that always comes to mind for me. rob styles awarding chelsea a penalty when Finnan tried to clear the ball and malouda came crashing into the back of him. How that warranted a penalty is beyond belief. styles even went on to produce a 2nd yellow for essien and he wasn't even sent off. Things haven't changed much since then on the refereeing front - Shouldn't have been a red card in today's derby either (but I'll take it!)

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Fabio, Rooney and Vidic were the only ones to come out of the Champions League Final with any credit.

Morrison is finally starting to settle down, so hopefully he'll make his debut soon.

G.A.G.U.S

As far as Sneijder goes, I don't want him. Sydney suggested on the United site that if Dortmund are knocked out at the group stage, we will go for Mario Goetze and I hope that is the case. He will be available for Champions league aswell. Ross Barkley is another who I think we'll go for.

G.A.G.U.S

Martin Atkinson may be a complete tool, but what about Graeme Halsey?! If it weren't for him, newcastle might not have won and we would be 4th before the international break

And those stupid mancs who criticized Kenny for his rant against the refereeing in the spuds games are keeping awfully quiet! It's Red-nosed biggest secret: keep complaining and even the most hard-nosed refs will feel sorry for their own errors and make it up to you in your next games!

Really happy with today's result. This match is always the biggest of the year for me. Local pride goes a long way. Well done to Carroll for his well taken goal. I posted a few days ago about his improving attitude and form. I predicted a goal spree in this game and the next. I'm
Half right, keep it up lanky arse.
Really disappointed with the everton fans throwing crap on the pitch, as far as I could tell the Liverpool players never provoked it not that it would excuse it. Life time bans should they catch those responsible please.

MIKEY

Local rivalry is ok but when fans throw bottles at players and shout all sort of abuse it's just not on. And why didn't the stewards taking any action? Anyway it was important to get three points today and I believe KK and SC are beginning to reap the rewards of their training methods and tactical approach. Future looks really promising.

Ed don't see too many carra knockers on here today. I thought he was immense and fair play to big Andy I hope that shuts people up for a while. I'd love to see stevie and bellers starting,don't tink kenny will do it against Man U but maybe against Norwich we might see it. Ed what the hell is goin on with english refs,they are having a shocker so far this season. Roll on the spam game.

I Love Loverpool

I. Think refereeing is probably the hardest job in football - every decision is scrutinised with multiple camera angles while the ref has only one view of any incident and has to make important decisions based on that. However, I agree with the OP that refereeing standards have slipped unacceptably low this season - not just the games we have played where there has been a number of bad decisions, but in all the premier league games. The red card in today's games was an absolute joke - people's careers and jobs are being put in jeopardy because of bad refereeing.

Nil Satis - Nil Points

If you know your history etc etc etc

Astonishing the amount of negative comments regarding individuals today. It's the Derby a completely differrent environment to any other game - inc the Scummers, they always let you play at the Temple of Doom as Sir Alco is focussed on his players and team and not us, which is the complete opposite of Everton as a whole.

Personally I thought Carroll had a good game today, does an awful lot of things not associated with a Number 9 - defending corners free kicks etc etc good movement across the front and whilst he won't be on Soccer AM#s showboat everyweek Downing is one of the most complete and technically astute footballers I have ever seen and since being at Anfield I can see why he has always been so highly rated. Never caught in a bad position and rarely gives it away, he will benefit from a fit Gerrard, he is proper quality and he always earns his shirt with a full shift.

Well done Red Men today - Having read the other posts if we had moved faster and scored more we could have got 4 points.

BOILED ONIONS

Hope Downing does improve. He has been invisible the last few games. We really need him to run at defenders more and get decent crosses into the box.

Best player on the pitch today - Enrique, brilliant game. Then Suarez, then Lucas then Kuyt. Carroll is starting to click now and is providing the 'presence' in the box that distracts defenders. I'm still not that impressed by Downing, but he has experience and pedigree so he will eventually come good. RED LENIN

Downing has been one of our best so fare. the only times he has had bad games was against spurs and today.

For me Downing has done little wrong.

I am very happy with the result. The only dissapointing thing was that some of our players did not work as hard as they should. I was expecting the players to be very stong and stormy during the game but it didnt happen. I dont like to mention any player names but for those of you who watched the game you must know. even with 10 men everton we straggled to score. It was only when Graig and stevie came on we manage to score. I think we need to improve on passing and tackling. Some of our players can not pass one opposition player. We need to improve to pass through with the Man teams, etc.

01 Oct 2011 17:43:34
Just an Opinion. Liverpool should work heavily on their movement higher up the pitch. At times when we attacked Eveton, Lucas and adam didn't have options to pass the ball forward as there was no movement/cross movement ect (sometimes even Suarez and kuyt stopped) and they had to stroke the ball sideways. whichmakes it difficult to get a goal. When Bellamy entered the scene, we could see the movement upwards changed. Teams higher than us have very good movement, and players have more options (3 to 5 players to pass the ball) to pass the ball

Budashow LFC

I agrree with you mate

I still do not like that we play so deep and allow teams onto us. This is the reason Lucas/Adam under so much pressure in CM and end up going backwards or sideways. I do not think any other team in the EPL goes back to their keeper as much as we do. Thoughts?

01 Oct 2011 17:40:10
I might be showing my age a little bit here but can anybody else remember the days when LFC players who scored at Goodison were heroes. What does Andy need to do for you to stop slating him, even if he scores the winner in our next game people will be moaning. If you are a true red you will get off his back and get behind him, he's our number 9.

Everton ran there heads off after the red card but at the end our quality of fresh subs were too much and ellmay set up Carroll and a mistake gifted Suarez too finish it up.....bring on United -McMenemy

01 Oct 2011 17:35:04
Good result today against a resolute everton side. Lucas was impressive as was both our full backs and suarez and kuyt both put in shifts as usual. I have never been a fan of andy carrolls style of play and the way we have to play to accomodate him. His first touch is baggy, his work rate seems lower than it should be and for a big guy he does get bullied of the ball quite a bit.

I am not dissin the guy or deliberately being negative but any person who understands football must be able to see that Carroll doesnt fit the bill at the moment. Yes given time he may turn out to be the bees knees but lets be honest he does not inspire confidence at the minute. He scored today and good on him but let it not distract from the fact that he is a long way off from even nearly being good enough to represent this club at the top level.

Adam, henderson etc may raise eyebrows sometimes but at least I can see what they have to offer...Carroll I absolutely fail to see how or where he can fit in the long term.

JJ Atlantis

Couldnt agree more mate. We get slated for "being negative" or "not getting behind players" when all we are doing is making an honest observation...Carroll at the moment is simply not good enough or adaptable enough to play in this team especially the way KD sets out his teams. Carroll has no technique and is very slow, this slows down our play and disturbs our rhythm when going forward. As a squad player he will do but I really do believe we are a top striker short of challenging for the top honours.

The key is Stevie! He is the only one that has can provide quality service for Carroll. We saw this when he came on. It was the same for torres and owen. They are nothing without Stevie!

Yeh we play too many long balls when he is in the team!

I disagree. It takes time to build understanding. Carroll thrives on service, just like the final ball that was delivered by Enrique, who was top drawer today. Downing was marked out by Osman, but the good news is our LB and LW can turn service providers, you'll see the best of Carroll and Suarez!

SingRed

The only thing I worry about Andy is - he falls over too easy. He is a big strong guy and should stay on his feet where he is more dangerous. Other than that he is improving every game.

01 Oct 2011 17:28:13
Decent performance today but we were helped by that dodgy red card. About time we had some good fortune with refs.

My only niggle which I found myself sometimes screaming at the tv was our inability to close players down. I know it was a hot day and going full whack for 90mins was impossible but there were times when balls were played to Everton players and we just stood off and ball watched. The player was then able to turn easily and pick a pass. I've noticed this in previous games also. I remember brilliant performances in the past when we got into opposition faces from the off and never gave them a minute to settle. I thought we looked a little leggy at times.

But as I've said pleased with today...good confidence booster for everyone...bring on the mancs!!

Gordy

Worst was Saha's shot where Carra backed off and said "have a go mate!". I think Skrtel was immense today but don't see him getting a mention. Whole back 4 was good I thought.

I did notice when Bellamy came on he was running around annoying their players in possession. As a sub he had the energy to do this.

01 Oct 2011 17:25:30
What is this myth that Everton were the dominant team of the 80s? Sky said it atleast twice today. They won 2 championships, an FA Cup and the Cup Winners Cup (in short period when the Liverpool sqaud was ageing and needed changing). Well done .
In the 80s Liverpool won 2 European Cups, 6 Championships, 2 FA cups and lots of League Cups.

01 Oct 2011 17:24:32
Anyone else notice the amount of long balls we were playing before Everton went down to 10 men? Both sides were just hitting the front men with long balls for the opening 15 minutes. Bit of a lack of movement up front, Carroll was trying hard but his movement's not the best, same with Kuyt, Suarez was pretty poor for most of the match (but he scored so he's done his job) and Downing wasnt even making any runs, he was terrible for me. I think we need to be more patient in our build-up - pass it around the midfield for a bit, wait for an opening and pass better in close quarters in the final 3rd. I have nothing against crossing for the big man when we're in a good crossing position, but we weren't even bothering to get into good crossing positions a lot of the time, we were just hitting it into the box from just inside their half. That's just lazy, and there's a noticeable lack of the sort of invention and one-touch passing that United and City in particular have got in abundance. Despite all the negatives, it's always nice to get a derby win and there were plenty of positives to be taken from this. Suarez with another goal, Carroll taking his very nicely, Adam playing really well imo and unlucky not to score, Lucas back to his old self, Carra being immense. We need to improve our passing and resist the temptation to hit it long to Carroll but this will come when the team has played more games together. A win's a win so well done to the lads, but the performances need to pick up now

Red Ollie

Too many times Adam & Lucas have no-one to pass to as we always so deep - hence they go back. In everygame we seemed to battle to pass out of our own half. Then we go long to Carroll - yet its not his fault we do.

I agree it's not Carroll's fault, we just need more movement in midfield, Lucas and Adam are too static atm. Adam's movement improved immeasurably in the 2nd half but it would have been nice to see him do that when it was 11 v 11

Red Ollie

Now I get it. Andy carroll was saving it for the really impt games like the merseyside derby.

What odds he gets another screamer againsu the mancs in a fortnight? Or maybe even a brace or a treble? Haha

I think the rodwell red may hv been harsh but i'm glad we're finally getting some decisions going our way.

And what's with the missed penalties? Adam and carroll took lots of penalties with their former clubs and rarely missed. Maybe if stevie isn't on the pitch, either of 'em can try. Juz stop missing!:-)

Anyway, i'm happy with any type of win, much more so against the toffs.

Hey, I want to apologise for my negative posts just now. Indeed we beat our local rivals 2-0 away, and kept a clean sheet, and here am I, bitching about how "poorly" we played. I'm glad we won nevertheless. Now that Carroll has gotten off the mark I do hope that he goes on a good goal scoring run that will eventually become something natural to him.

Once again I'm really sorry.

Keith I dont think you have anything to be ashamed about, yes we won and should enjoy the win , but we did not play well .. we cant always hope for a sending off to win games.
Our club is as big if not bigger than United and we should be aspiring to dominate games the way they do, today they played terrible still came out easy winners against 11 men.
We have the ability to match them and demonstrated that end of last season and we need to get back to that level, until then every fan have the right to fairly criticise players or tactics that simply are nt working.

Carra well played. Andy great finish, showed his strength with Baines bouncing off him and finished it well. Just like to point out that like Henderson never asked to be bought for 16 mil, Carroll same with his transfer fee. A bit long winded but as well as the full backs and Carra played. Luis never asked to be man of the match, he was given it, get over it. At least he was happy for Andy to get his goal if some fans on here dont seem to assed, to be honest, it seems like some fans are wanting him to fail to prove they were right all along. Just support the guy/team. Soft sending off, yes, but not our fault. Swings and roundabouts we've been on the rough end of some refs ones ourselves. We couldn't win away from home last season to save our lives. And yet still some posters look for the bad points instead of the good points in everygame. Why dont we just batter a team like Stoke away then get beat, will that make you feel better. Wins breed confidence, and thats 3 on the trott. Ed001, i know Kuyts pen record is a great one but would you not say that while on the pitch that Bean should take em. Mentioned first game season that i wasn't bothered that Suarez had missed but you said Adam should take em. Do you reckon he'll be on em from now? I think he should defo when he's on the pitch. A lot of people might not like my posts or what i write but like a few others, a minority i may add, i'll support the team through thick and thin. Support us, were a work in progress, slowly but surely we'll get their, way Utd are playing we'll give them a tanning, watch. Rather be hated for being me, then loved for being a two faced bulls**ter. LFC FOREVER. Jonson6 {Ed001's Note - I think Adam will be taking them now, about time too, he is a penalty specialist.}

And after gerrard returns

Surely Gerrard will be back on penalties when fit?

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - I hope not, he is not as consistent a scorer as Adam. Great to have as a second option, but Adam is deadly from the spot. Though now I have said that he will miss them all!}

You think Adam and Gerrard will both play Ed? Lucas I guess will always play and I do not see Kenny playing a 3 man CM. He likes 4-4-2.

I think Adam will get more bench time now that Stevie is back. Pity, as I really rate him. {Ed001's Note - I think Gerrard will take over Henderson's right sided midfield role myself. Or is that hope? Because I think it is his perfect position, he excelled on the right.}

I dunno Ed. Maybe this would work:

Lucas / Adam
Suarez / Gerrard / Downing
Carroll

with the 3 attackers behind Carroll interchanging positions? {Ed001's Note - why would you want to move Suarez out of the position he is playing so well in? Especially as Gerrard has not been at his best the last few years, it would be a huge risk. If it was anyone but Gerrard you would never consider it, but isn't it about time he had to win his place rather than getting it because of how good he is?}

I think our best penalty taker is still Kuyt to be fair, it was a top class save from Howard today and he'd scored the last 9! Adam is good but has been known to miss a few, and I'm not sure why Suarez was ever on them. I think KD will leave it to Gerrard though now he's fit, just seems like the obvious choice (though maybe not the best one)

Today wasn't a great performance by any means but we won, Andy scored, Gerrard got 25 mins under his belt and we got another clean sheet.

When Everton had 11, they had more energy and movement in the centre of the park. Rodwell was very very unlucky in my view, at 1st glance I thought it looked a bad challenge but the replays showed it to be a good tackle. With Adam and Lucas in the centre of a 4-4-2, we lack dynamism in the middle, but that will be rectified with a fit Gerrard and a on form Henderson.

Stewart Downing needs to maintain his width, he drifted in far too much esp. when Everton we're down to 10. Our left hand side as a result was not as dangerous as the right, where Kuyt and Kelly worked well together. Of our players, Downing was the least effective, and was deservedly subbed for Bellamy.

Bellamy played really well when he came on, provided width and pace and played a big part in the 1st goal. Think Kenny has pulled off a blinder in bringing him back to the club if he continues in this vein.

Really happy for Andy Carroll, took his goal well and I'm sure that will do wonders for his confidence.

Totally agree

Learning from todays team selection, i would play for Utd:
Reina
Kelly Carra Agger Enrique
Kuyt Gerrard Lucas Bellamy
Carroll Suarez

Reina
Johnson Carra Agger Enrique
Gerrard Lucas Adam
Suarez Carroll Downing

or Kuyt Suarez Downing

Utd CM is weak, lets play 3 CM and dominate them.

poor until 66 minutes. if draw then people will kill KD here today. Our wing have no pace to beat them even they are 10man. Hope Belamy start more game. Weating for Gerrard start the match.

Red card in my opinion was never one! Very unlucky on Everton, but we've had so many hard decisions against us of late it's about time we had one for us.
This is where I think video replay technology would be so important, look how dominant we became only because of a numerical advantage. We've been on both ends of this weight.
Penalty? Yeah, careless tackle by Jagielka, clever play by Suarez
2-0 is always a fantastic result, alongside hitting the bar/post twice and a missed pen.
Everyone misses a penalty every so often, not the end of the world.
Everyone was solid tbh. Can't fault anyone.
Loved Carroll's goal. Bellamy instantly effective, class dummy, or should I say duck, by Kuyt. Flawless finish by Carroll. Up and running now, never doubted the guy, natural striker. Hope he gets in the England game and bags a goal or two, to come back for us in hot form for the united game and stuff them.
Suarez deserved his goal for a great performance. Yes, lucky and fortunate, but football is a balance of luck and skill. He had both where necessary.
Kelly and Enrique were class especially today.
Loved Kenny's post match comments. what a shrewd bugger he his, but what a genius. Love the bloke, the only guy for the job.
Trust in Kenny and his players

Hi ed,
Just wanted to know,who is currently the Joker in our locker room? I know DKuyt is the DJ...any info? Great win today though. Really happy Andy scored. What say u ed?
Thanks a million.
{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, I have no idea, I have never really given it any thought at all. I am pleased Carroll scored, he needed that goal.}

I've heard that Pepe is the class clown so to speak, and watching his drunken singing on youtube I'm fully prepared to believe it haha

Not the prettiest of wins, but a win none the less. Both strikers score and we didn't concede.Stevie gets 25 mins and looks like he's rounding into full fitness. Kelly and Enrique we excellent. I've admitted this before and I'll do it again for the last time, but I certain I know nothing about football. When we were lining up Enrique I was sure he was going to be an average LB. I didn't know he was so fast and so strong. He's a great signing and he'll only get better when he settles in. When Stevie starts to pull the strings I think we will hit another gear. All around him will benefit. A great day overall and up to 4th at the moment. When we win the "next" game we will be considered...............YNWA. KK and SC take a bow.

Chi-Paul

I agree not pretty. playing not so good and winning though is good. stevie is back and hendo looked better centre mid if only for a few mins. ac didnt play well but scored. this was considered one of ian rushes greatest trates. ac gets stick, pity. he played well last week, very well in fact, so looking positive. we have gone to spurs, arsenal, stoke and everton and have 13 pts from 7 with all new players getting to know each other. also stevie just back. glen johnson and hopefully coates to come in. we have best full backs in league.

newcastle wont last pace. spurs and arsenal are a danger to us maybe.
but look at chealsea, not impressive, something missing. man city could implode. man u have no midfield and if rooney gets injured they are in trouble. not silly to say we will win league but game by game pick up the points, come late feb people might be suprised by the league table. 85-86 man u won first 10 league games then fell apart. kk won league with liverpool. again game by game. you never know.

I thought the throwing of objects at our players was pretty shameful by the bitters...

Good 3 points, even though we played to not the best of standards, I think the shape looked better when Stevie & Bellamy came on.

Matty P

I totally agree! Banter slagging chants all fine but people with viens popping in their necks screaming vitrol and throwing objects is beyond disgraceful. Get these mugs outta the grounds for good. Dirty scum bags.
Anyway we beat them.
Last year we struggled against the small clubs not this year!

Dont Buy The Sun

Small club?
Wtf are you talking about. Everton finished just below you last season and their a small club? Your a moron. Liverpool got pretty lucky today but their not a small club. I agree that fans throwing things at players is bad but every club has scumbag supporters and don't try to deny that.

Breeno {Ed001's Note - obviously the joke went over your head, but then you were far too busy jumping in with abuse to actually use your brain. The small club jibe was clearly a reference to Rafa's dig at Everton. I would suggest that you stop trying to abuse people or go elsewhere in future.}

Ed001 I haven't heard about Rafa's dig about Everton being a small club and believed it was just some Liverpool fan taking a dig at Everton. I was also just pissed that Everton lost today, and not saying that ye completly got lucky, Rodwell shouldn't have been sent off and if he hadn't it would have been an entirley different game

Breeno

We still got a penalty after the sending off anyway and if that was put in it would have been 1-0 and that would have also changed the game, the sending off is the same situation, and your sharp himself today on sky said we are still on top off everton, don't let emotions rule your reasoning.hibsylfc

01 Oct 2011 15:19:05
Whether Carroll scored or not doesn't make a difference. He was poor for 70 minutes and suddenly scores a goal just by standing in the box. He is lazy, gives away possession too easily, and worse doesn't fight to get it back. Also because of him we get overrun in midfield because we are not allowed to place a fifth midfielder.

Indeed a win is a win, and I'm glad we got three points. However the performance was poor, and something has to be done. Whether it is telling Carroll not to go to the pub so often or extra time at Melwood, something has to be done or we'll implode one day

Keith YNWA

Typical.
Some of you are never content, and no matter what the poor guy does, he still gets slates.

What are you talking about? Carroll plays what position? Striker. And even so, on countless (if not all) occasions he was back defending set pieces, when a lazy player would stay upfront, let others defend, and hope that Reina or such will pump it up to him.

Give the poor guy a break and stop slating the guy. He is doing his earnest best, scores a goal under pressure and all some people do in return is split hairs and piss and moan. What do you mean so what he scored? That is his job, isn't it? He didn't just wait for it either, he outsmarted Baines (who so many of you orgasm over), peeled away and hit a sweet half volley into the ground. Grow up and start supporting your players like a supporter is meant to, funnily enough. Unless of course you think you can go out there and do a better job?
Jacob red.

Keith. Jam it mate

Keith, why dont you support the bitters? if all you can do is moan, we dont need you..bye bye

tel 1949

Whether a player scores or not makes all the difference, as football is about scoring goals. His performance wasn't great but his goal makes up for it, that's what he's there for. When Gerrard is back in the team, and Suarez and Downing play better than they did today, Carroll will have the service he needs

7 games in and were sitting nicely in 4th winning at godson and the emirates on the way. With a bit of luck at Stoke and at home to Sunderland we would be near the top. Well done Kenny, fantastic job. Let's drub Utd with a shaky defence next. Gerrard fit and looking sharp...

Get behind your team! This is going to be a great season, I can feel it.

With more luck in those games, we'd be top.

Liverpool been so Unlucky by Refree for at least 5 match. so 1 lucky day today is a yellow card change to Red.

01 Oct 2011 15:05:20
I don't understand why people are still unhappy. We actually have DEPTH in our squad now. I do believe that the substitutions Dalglish made on the 67th minute made a lot of difference and probably is our strongest team.

Henderson was awesome for the 6 minutes he was on. Central midfield is where he should be playing. Carroll got off the mark, I expect him to get a HUGE boost of confidence for the coming matches as well as for England.

Team against Man United:

Reina

Kelly - Carra - Skrtel - Enrique

Gerrard - Lucas/Henderson

Kuyt - Suarez - Downing/Bellamy

Carroll

RenegadeRed

Haha "Henderson was awesome for the 6 minutes he was on."

cozinoz

I thought myself Caragher was fantastic today, man of the match.
Was never a sending off but about time we got some luck.
Thought Henderson looked more comfortable when he was on in the centre.
Can play better but great 3 points. I saidbefore the game I would take 4 points from are next 2 game so good start.

Bilverstone

Well he had nothing to do

Keith YNWA

Bloody hell Keith can you try and say something positive about the win? you've posted 5 or 6 times in the last half hour slating either the players or management. It is a derby - they are frantic, the players don't get much time on the ball and the tackles fly-in. It is very rare that these games involve good football.

To the OP this is the type of game that Carragher is made for - defend deep and tackle hard.

no carroll critics now are there?! it was great to see him score and his celebration really showed what it means for him to get the goal. great win today against everton- and we could of have a few more as well. well done lads. YNWA
thekop1

Yes well done to Andy for his goal, and hopefully this might be the start of something wonderful. But if you really want to be honest, he scored yes, but where was he in the first 60/70 minutes, apart from him doing the Carra specials from the back hoofing the ball to no mans land and then asking Suarez to chase it.
BUT again, he was much better when Gerrard and Bellamy came on and deserved his goal.

Suarez and Adam were terrible, gave the ball away constantly. Skrtel; disgraceful defending. Stevie good as ever.

Suarez got man of the match , adam passed well most of the time.

We love Suarez. But he wasn't MOTM, had to be between Enrique and Kelly for me.

Suarez gave the ball away countless times when he simply could have laid it off and he tried too many fancy turns when the simple pass would have been good enough.

Yea i was thinking enrique or kelly i was suprised when they came up with saurez was one of his worst games this season and he still scored but deffo not man of the match kuyt and luas played well no one stood out really but i would have give it to kelly or enrique

Why did Kuyt take our penalty? I wonder, could it be because that's his first penalty miss for us after taking 9 penalty's. Idiot.

Funny thing is that andy has been awful in this game it is as if he is scared off ball.
His touches have been poor.
But I am so happy for lad.he scored his first goal.
He must work on his game he is so important for us and we need him to be sucess for top 4 position.
In the end good result for us but not good performance.
Lots of work ahead.
Take care all.

Red indian

Shhhh

It was a great finish by Andy and let's face it he could have with a couple of headers today. Getting off the mark was very important today. Well done to Andy! Disappointed about Downing though. He had a poor game today.

Red indian, how was it not a good performance? we scored twice, had over 70 % possesion, hit the woodwork twice and missed a penalty, it could have eaasily been 5. so when tottenham win 4 nil against us with 9 men its a terrible performance by us, when we win 2 nil against 10 men its an average performance? did you watch the game, everton offered nothing, even without the red card we would of spanked them, cahill deserved to go anyway. i will happily take the 3 points, two wins on the trot, both strikers scoring and gerrard getting 35 mins in a tight pressurised environment, similar to how the man u game will be. we controlled the game from start to finish, lighten up.

After I read it here that kelly cant cross well my eyes always looking to him. and yes he is not a right back materials. he will be a batter CB rather then RB. GJ is the Best in that possition. miss the Reisa day the fast LB was rocking.

Glen Johnson can't defend to save his life. Kelly played very well, should have been man of the match. I don't think you can really fault him offensively. In my opinion he can cross the ball very well. Perhaps he could improve on ball control though. Hope he manages to get into Capello's good books today

I didn't think he was great, his crossing in particular left a lot to be desired. Solid defensively but not tested very much, and got forward well but didn't do much with the ball. Overall I'd say he showed great effort but could have done better, but maybe that's just my high expectations of him

What a shocking decision from Atkinson, it was a yellow card at most!

Liverpool frustrating style of play, long balls galore and less thrust and penetration than a limp 92yr old man.

Wish we would keep it on the floor more and try utilize the extra space the ref has given us.

Gerrard and Bellamy need to come on early 2nd half if we are to get 3 pts.

Chipkin9 (Eire)

Agreed a shocking decision but then Hibbert and Cahill should be off by now. Everton always turn up extra violent in these derbies and its about time they get punished for their intent.

I have not had a bad word toward carrol thus far but he looks a bloody lazy sod, he clumps it up field and out of play when in possession, just before the ht whistle he looks like he is just punting it from outside the box with no real effort, with his current form he should be busting a gut to prove to us fans he cares, he is a geordie lad through and through and that showed on the field for them, i just feel he doesn't give a monkeys for us.

I'm a red through and through but that was a ridiculous decision. Not even a booking it was a good and fair challenge. Standard of refereeing this season has been shocking

It certainly wasn't a good tackle. He was showing his studs, but he didn't make any contact. Neither did Torres last week remember. It's a fine line between not making contact & badly injuring a player.

The Irish Rover

At least it went for us for once it normally goes against us but it was never a sending off
giblet

'The Irish Rover'

It wasn't even a foul, let alone a red card. Try watching the tackle from a neutrals point of view. Cahill's could have been a red and it was 100% a penalty, but that was never a foul, let alone a red card. Mark Atkinson is a very poor referee and you have to say Suarez' role in it was pretty disgusting too. For a player to act like that when there is no contact is vile.

Sydney!

Well sydney you did predict a red a piece could well come true and you could be right he barely caught him but toores got a red for one similar last week iv got to admit i was shocked he was sent off looks like u have got howard webb nice of you to loan us atkinson for this game

You mean a neutral like yourself Sydney? Look at Rodwells reaction. Hands straight to his head & looking at the Refs pocket to see what card comes out.

Don't come on here Sydney talking about disgusting play acting. Rooney against Sol Campbell, when's there's a foot clear daylight diving for a penalty comes to mind
It's quite laughable actually that a manc should even bring digusting behaviour it up.

The Irish Rover

Rooney, Ronaldo - the divers - and every Manc that clammers around the ref to sway his decision. Disgusting. For players to act like that is vile.

We are due a bit of refereeing luck, but that was never a red.

01 Oct 2011 13:13:26
Probably the worst refereeing decision I have seen for a long time. A clean one footed challenge that got the ball and he is sent off. I feel bad for the young lad.

Sydney!

Think you're exaggerating a bit Sydney. Bad decision, but at least you could see where the ref was coming from - unlike some decisions made in other games this season.

Martin

Rodwell was sent off I guess because of the speed of the tackle. If it had made contact Suarez could have broken his leg. Sent off for the intention, not the tackle itself. Though Rodwell isn't a player who tries to injure players.

01 Oct 2011 13:13:15
Sorry to Jack Rodwell. Harsh red Card

we can't control possession. Every time we get the ball it's given away

Keith YNWA

4-4-2 dont work, we need to revert to 4-2-3-1 IMO and pass and move

01 Oct 2011 12:48:49
To the unsigned poster that ended about John Henry, that ended with actions speak louder then words. Well his actions mean we've still a football club. Not a club the banks were going to pick apart bit by bit till we had nowt left. If he and FSG hadn't of come and saved us we'd be fecked. Get well soon. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note -

These two teams from Liverpool boast 26 league titles between them. That's still 6 more than manchester...........

Kuyt - Carroll - Suarez

I say 4-2-3-1 mate,

Lucas - Adam

Kuyt - Suarez - Downing

Carroll

Yeah Corkpoolred, yours seems much better.

Bellamy not kuyt

01 Oct 2011 11:52:02
I dont know why we dont give Bellamy a blast on the left. Downing in the middle with Lucas where he played for Villa enough times is a bit more mobile then Adam. I'd defo play Kuyt on the right today. Starting Bellamy on the left would play more to Carrolls strength with the way he's more likely to come back onto his right foot and hang the ball up in the air for Carroll to attack, just like Barton did time and again at Newcastle and Meriles against City last season, it seems he prefers it hung up rather then whipped in so play to his strengths. Think we could be devastating on the counter attack with that team along with Suarez. That team is also quick enough to get back and help the defenders out. Jonson6

Ed001 - Good morning, just wondered what your score prediction for today will be? I am going for a 2.2 draw and a red card for each team. I am looking forward to this one, it will be a good match-up today.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I don't do predictions Syd, far too superstitious to predict the score of a Liverpool game.}

Fair play mate, what about the Spurs Vs Arsenal game? I can only see a Spurs win if I am honest, I think they could score a bundle too. What do you think?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I think Spurs will just edge it myself, 3-2 I will go for.}

01 Oct 2011 10:46:52
Reina

Kelly
Carragher
Skrtel
Jose Enrique

Kuyt
Adam
Lucas
Downing

Suarez
Bellamy

Doomed if we play that side. Adam is too slow in the middle. We need to play 5 in midfield

Totally agree.........because everton will work hard in the middle and adam wont be up to that..as well as the silly challenges he makes

little bit disappointed bellamy doesnt play but i hope he comes on for atleast 30 mins..

01 Oct 2011 10:31:04
how much money do liverpool have to spend?

What you selling?

If Henry wasn't in hospital I am sure he would reply to your question.

Saw the pics of him in a neckbrace. Is it true he got a Viagra stuck in his throat? ;-)

01 Oct 2011 10:06:40
Tevez doesn't want to play in europe, Liverpool is now his obvious destination!

Sir Alex x

He also hates Machester and wants to move somewhere 100% better, where the people are friendly, good looking, have good taste and a sense of humour.
On that basis you can easily see why he would want to move to Liverpool :-)

He might as well stay in Manchester as it looks like both clubs look like they will struggle to get out the group stages.
You might find it hard to get a response from most people today as its one of the most important games of the year.
Keep posting Alex everyone like laughing at you, not with you mind at you lol

always a red

We have a fairly good South American representation here (I count 6) who can help him to adjust to life here, why not? Imagine him, Suarez & maybe Lavezzi! Wow!

Hi ed, just a quick question. Why was Meireles sold? I think we're really missing his defence splitting passes. Navz. South Africa {Ed001's Note - he wanted a huge pay rise, he wasn't getting one so he chose to leave.}

Liverpool owner John Henry has been hospitalised after an accident on his yacht....GET WELL SOON JOHN, our thoughts are with you

Tel 1949

Billionaire injured on his own boat,yeah my thoughts are with the millions of americans with no health cover or workers killed doing dangerous jobs for small wages or starving children dying every second throughout the world because obscene wealth is in the hands of the few! Henry can look after himself!

I agree with what you're saying but calm down man - he only wished the man who SAVED Liverpool well..

Corkpoolred

He hasnt saved anything yet! I dont dislike John but my feelings toward him are the same as his towards us and our club purely business! I hate what money has done to the game but thats now what you need to succeed. So if he cant fulfill the new stadium or redevelopment and if our manager is under preasure to keep wages down then I despise his arrogance takingover a club were he cant fund the ambition. H&G were called saviours when they arrived ill reserve judgement on FSG. As they said themselves actions speak louder than words.

Hi Ed,

Am I right in thinking our local youth scouts missed out on Wayne Rooney, Leighton Bianes, Jack Rodwell and Ross Barclay? If so is there an issue with the scouts, our offers to youngsters or the perception that youth will get more opportunities at Everton? Either way something needs looking at no?

Chubs {Ed001's Note - no, they chose Everton, simple matter of choosing to be at the club they feel they have the best chance of breaking through at. In the past we used to get all the Everton fans breaking through with us, the pendulum is swinging back our way thanks to Kelly, Flanagan, Spearing, Flanagan, Robinson etc getting chances.}

I heard from a lifelong Everton fan that we nearly got Rooney. He turned up for a trial at LFC wearing his Everton top, and the organiser gave him a right bollocking and told him he wasn't going to trial at LFC wearing that shirt.

I can sort of understand the guy's viewpoint, but if its true, its strange how one negative experience for the very young Rooney at the hands of an over-enthusiastic LFC coach could have steered him firmly towards trialling for Everton, and eventually on to Utd.

I guess sometimes its worth waiting until you see what a kid can do before you give him a bollocking over wearing his team's shirt to a trial.

I thought Everton bought Baines from Wigan?

would love to have Christian Eriksen in Jan, could it happen? {Ed002's Note - No chance.}

01 Oct 2011 08:09:12
Mario Gotze is plausible but i don't think it will happen in Jan, but maybe Marek Hamsik or Christian Eriksen, what do you think?? {Ed002's Note - None of these will arrive in January I am afraid.}

That little fellow Bannan at Villa looks a great prospect. Along with Albrighton we should take a look.

01 Oct 2011 08:06:49
are there any CB linked to LFC, because we really need one more quality defensman, would love to get G. Cahil in Jan

If u really want us to sign a cb, why gary cahill? he is carp, rather have shawcross. Cahill wud make a better goal poacher than a cb.

My views on meaningful banter vs senseless slagging is quite clear. You asked why I criticise, yet you're happy to have other people throw rubbish at our team and club... very strange. What's even more strange is you can take the slaggings from outsiders as banter, but view my comments as personal attacks. Banter? Abuse? It's up to you to decide

Throw rubbish at each other if you wish, but the stronger the smell, the more people gets put off.

Btw Alex x, I think you're actually a reds fan just acting as the devil's advocate. Thanks for the effort; your dedication, almost obsession with our team is most commendable

I also think that will be the team. Well, you can't accuse Kenny of not standing by the players he has brought in. I personally just think that we don't have the CM's (besides Stevie) to play 4-4-2 which Kenny wants to play.

ed. If kenny went to john henry and said i need such a player. He is young and will have sell on value but he will cost 55 million. Do you think we would have any chance of getting that type of player or are we not shopping in that store? {Ed001's Note - it would depend, if he could present a good enough case to show why he needs him, then yes I believe the money would be found. But it is highly unlikely, the players that cost 55 million are not what we need, we need to find them, like Suarez, when they are 20m and sell them for 55m.}

When are we going to sell Suarez for 55 million? I hope our business plan isn't to sell our best players

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - what are you on about?}

Next season to Madrid.
