Any interest in son of hamburg from us eds? What sort of price do you think he will be going for? Possible addition for the summer? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

There is interest but there are better clubs out their

01 Mar 2013 17:52:02
Eds you've said that you believe that Sanchez could be seen as a replacement for Suarez if sold, do you think we could look at him regardless of Suarez leaving given it seems though it seems he will become available? {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

I'm not sure suarez and Sanchez would find it easy to operate in the same team. Never the less if we could get Sanchez at a reasonable price the it would be a good deal

Joao Carlos teixeria, Ryan mclaughlin and Jordan ibe will all be part of the first team squad next season. Three very exciting youngsters, who I belive will have massive Liverpool futures. hope the the good work at the Academy continues.

I agree to the above one hundred percent the Portuguese kid is excellent there all good but I have high hopes for him mostly

gee man

02 Mar 2013 09:02:47
i think we have a chance of getting a few players from 1 age group like utd done in the 90s only thing we need to do is be patient with these players, it won't be all rosy at the beginning imo but in about 2-3 years we will have a squad ready to challenge for the pl and I hope brendan gets the chance to take these kids through.

Or the season after

01 Mar 2013 20:27:45
With Palermo looking almost certain to go down, any chance of Abel Hernandez linking up with Suarez next season?

How about Illic would be a cheaper alturnative than Erickson and would probably join.

01 Mar 2013 20:25:13
Eds fellow reds. Is sturridge injured, as he is not in training pictures {Ed019's Note - Got a knock in training}

01 Mar 2013 18:41:50
Hi ED thanks again for doing such a great job.

Just require an update is they any new on Sturridge for tomorrow game?

Thanks Braveone {Ed019's Note - He'll have a late fitness test, got a knock in training}

Ed019 DO you know if he passed?

Thanks Braveone {Ed019's Note - No}

Some of our players need to get in the gym. We have some great players with lots of flair and skill but without that balance and strength like Suarez and Messi have they may come up short. The likes of Suso Sterling Coutinho and Assaidi need to hit the gym this summer because IMO there all really really good players but too lightweight. DBol

That's what the off season is for? What. do you think they just do nothing lol

Like Shelvey? You can do too much gym work and end up slow and muscle bound, not good for a footballer.

01 Mar 2013 18:52:22
has said many times on record how happy he and his family are at Liverpool and how he hopes to be here for many years to come. surely by saying this and by recently signing a new long term contract this all means he is looking for a way out.

01 Mar 2013 18:32:29
I'm mightily impressed with suarez and sturridge, but think we will need to add another striker to our ranks in the summer. I think wilfried bony would be a great buy for us, strong, quick, and has a good scoring record.

I've watched him a few times now, he's not quck, he's strong as an ox is very similar to Yakubu.
Can't see him being a Liverpool type of player.

We need 4 strikers just like Utd have.
Problem we have is that Rodgers likes to play an attacking front 3 that can interchange positions so Bony don't fit into that system.

01 Mar 2013 22:32:40
Good players can adapt to most systems, if their mobile enough anyhow. (Sorry Andy) If I were you is stop worrying about things like that, if wet sign em I'm pretty sure it'll be with a view to being able to play Liverpool way.
JohnBoy

Personally I think Bony would be perfect, we have Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho for pace, trickery and pulling out defenders, all we'd need is a powerful forward to smash them in from in front of goal, as we've seen with Sturridge but on a much more powerful scale. And to be fair, he isn't constantly quick, he has bursts of pace, and when teamed with his pretty quick feet and massive stature he runs through defenders.

JFT 96

JP

I would love to see Bony join us. He offers something different, like a plan B. Can push defenders around, creating more space for suarez and co. Improved version of Carroll imo.

01 Mar 2013 18:27:51
If Luis goes then we should sign. wait for it. NEYMAR.

If we get a big enough fee for Luis ;)

Thoughts?!?! eds?!

blaz

Highly over rated player, yes he is has potential but his attitude stinks, he has already said he is bored of football, and been sent off 5 times in his career already!

RedPJ

I wouldn't want him, massively overrated {Ed002's Note - Stroke of luck then.}

I'll admit to having not seen him play that often, however in the games I have watched of him nothing suggest to me that he is anywhere near the level suarez is at yet.
dr

Chris in tamworth. You don't want neymar! If Liverpool could get him he would be the biggest signing in the last 20 years

Agreed! Over rated, dives too much. Next!

Biggest signing of the last 20 years?! Haha, what world are you living in?! What, because he's hailed by the press? The lad's ego is going to completely destroy his game, and he hasn't even earned the right to be classed as a big signing - he performs well in a sub-par league. He'll get found out when he's up against defenders that won't hesitate to cut him down.

Based on maturity of performances, I think I'd prefer Damiao - lethal finisher, level head and a team player.

Not that either will ever happen.

I'm just getting ready for posting tomorrow.

"That was the worst display I have ever seen, we should sell Gerrard, Agger, Allen, Henderson, Suarez. wait, what? We won? Where was I again. that was like watching Barcelona, Allen was Xavi, Henderson was Fabregas and Skrtel is Messi. "

Think I covered all the bases there.

;)

Thats pretty good and sums up the fickle nature of some our eh. oh what's the word now. hmmmm?

Oh yes - FANS.

Ye never covered all bases ye missed the draw out

alan waddle

You forgot the situation where we haven't scored in the 1st 30 minutes dispute 20 shots and everyone calls for Rodgers head, then we win 4/5 nil and he is god

RedPJ

Alan, I think the first reaction covers a loss and a draw.

Andy K

01 Mar 2013 21:39:23
I think draw is included in the loss category of "panic/fetal position" reaction Alan.

Well Brendan has written his post match speech too: controlled the game, referees don't give us anything, can't fault the players.

01 Mar 2013 17:40:29
Probably have a bit of MOD fever but I think we should definitely put in a bid for Mauro Icardi. he's would greatly improve out attack, is young, has pace, strength, and technical ability. that will leave us with plenty of attacking options for next season, Suarez, Sturridge, Borini, Icardi, Sterling,. do you see Icardi moving and if so around what price. thanks

Sad to say, but it's true, Borini is not going to make it. Positioning is not enough! Killer instinct and confidence are a must and poor Borini has so far not shown any. youngster must be given a chance in League cup and even PL next season.

I'd play the likes of Ibe ahead of Borini.

Borini just hasn't got the class to step up to this level.
He might work hard, he might show passion, but he's just not a striker.

Sell, sell, sell

01 Mar 2013 17:16:00
For someone who is leaving England this summer Suarez has really improved his English over the last six months as he is actually understanding and responding to english which he could not do in the slightest when he first came to LFC. May mean nothing but seems strange to put in that effort to learn a language then leave / {Ed002's Note - It means he has been learning English.}

They only speak English in England.

01 Mar 2013 17:03:01
Hi ed 002
Isit known that Sturridge is this injury prone? Seen as u follow Chelsea? Some of my Chelsea friends have said that his injures was part of why Chelsea wanted rid of him! I hope this isn't the case, 2 important games now west brom who we would have beaten if he played an now Wigan big game for us an he's injured again! {Ed002's Note - Chelsea did not want "rid" of him. They just did not stand in teh way of a player who wanted to leave when an acceptable offer was made. He had a hamstring injury in the early part of the season and no has a minor groin strain (probably a stretching injury) which he is near over. Hardly seems injury prone does it.}

He seems injury prone. He picks up a fair few soft tissue injuries. But so does Agger, and he hasn't been injured too much of late, so things can change. Maybe it's just a run of bad or good luck.

01 Mar 2013 16:36:12
Suarez has been replaced already in Daniel Sturridge; Borini is the other striker. Rodgers don't particularly want more than two strikers. Coutinho is the No. 10, expect also to see him play the false 9 at times. A wing forward will arrive in the summer, maybe two if Downing leaves. A centre-back will also arrive and a certain player on loan. Expect Reina to stay. Feel free to be in doubt but u can always quote me as THE NEW ORACLE FROM MERSEYSIDE.

More like the " The Cuckoo from Merseyside"

Not sure where you get your info mate.

All different players in the way we play

01 Mar 2013 16:25:00
Stop with the brenden out posts guys, managers need time! What do u think Benitez is going to do? He's gunna need time to at least 3 years. Chopping an changing managers isn't the answer we'll be in transition for 20 frikin years if it was up to u lot!

01 Mar 2013 15:53:54
I have a second cousin, who has a friend, who knows Suarez's tailor, and while he was measuring his inside leg asked him if he was going to leave in the summer. he answered in his native language so he didn't understand him.
Ah roll on the transfare window.

My fifth uncle, who is is the taylor's assistant understands the native tongue, and he told me that Suarez said, "There are two types of tackle, one between two players on field called a football pitch and one where you've got that tape measure. you concentrate and don't ask stupid questions!"

What size inside leg was he?

01 Mar 2013 15:53:51
out: Brendan Rodgers
in: Fabio Capello

fforestfach red

He's getting upwards of £5 million a year for managing Russia.

Yes, a real possibility.
Rodgers is Championship league.

01 Mar 2013 15:16:49
I've only just realised how good our goal difference is! If we could of spread the goals out instead of battering Swansea and Norwich we could technically be 3rd! : ( bad times

What if this - what if that

We deserve to be where we are in the table - end of

Do you not think that each club has their what if story?

Janman

Did luis suarez goal deserve to ve disallowed vs everton?

Every team has bad decisions but the fact we nearly went a whole season (30 odd games) without a penalty and after all those obvious calls not given due to Suarez "reputation" then i'm sorry no we are not were we should be

The league table doesn't lie.

After 38 games you are where you deserve to be, that's a fact, baby.

01 Mar 2013 14:52:44
How is Bale valued at £70M and Suarez only £40 Liverpool will be wanting £50-£60M if they were to sell Suarez at least and personally I think he will stay for another year,
LFC

01 Mar 2013 15:37:20
Actually the club value Suarez at around 35m Euros.

Bale will be gone in the summer so then we will see how good Spurs actually are as he has carried them this season, just like V. Persie has with Utd, Where would Utd and Spurs be in the table without there contribution I wonder. Valuation is irrelevant as i'm pretty sure Suarez is a more wanted player than Bale and therefore his price will be massive although as I have said before he will stay.

Actually the club do not value suarez as he is clearly not for sale. To buy him you are going to have to make an offer that the club cannot refuse. I'd imagine 50m+

There is no such thing as value of a player, its whatever a club is willing to pay and the receiving club is willing to sell for

Domihiho - there is such a thing as value and you've more or less just described it!

Value in the real world isn't negotiable

If we got 50 mil for a crap Torres, we should aim for double with Suarez

35m euro! The club value our star player at less than we paid for a player we've shipped out on loan!

I don't think even were that bad in the market.

Fester

01 Mar 2013 14:48:58
Interestingly if u look at the training photos on Liverpool. co. uk the players in orange bibs are probably the starting 11. And allen is one and sturridge ain't there says it all really : (! One of those situations u see a great partnership but don't see it enough: (

Based on that en genius logic we're going to play 6 players and no goalkeeper

No Sturridge I'm utterly disappointed. Now all They got to do is keep Suarez quite, an it could be very diffacult for us tomz!

01 Mar 2013 14:44:13
In news: Koke will come in from atletico madrid.
Out news: Downing will leave the club in summer.

I don't feel rodgers is taking us back to the champions league and since benitez will be available in the summer i'd say its a perfect swap

YNWA

01 Mar 2013 16:13:47
Agree. Benitez is made in Liverpool while Rodgers is made in Chelsea, and I'll have Rodgers any day.

Absolute and utter nonsense no matter who the manager is we are a club in a re building process and will be back in the CL within 2 years, Rodgers is doing a decent job and he has given the youth a chance which is good unlike most managers these days, good times are ahead we just need to be patient.

What a muppet if you think having benitez back is moving the club forward
fforestfach red

Benitez spent 200 million and helped to nesrly send us into administration

He can stay at the bridge

I feel Benitez is taking CFC backward. he took over 4 points off the top, he's now 19 points away?!
he is also making the same mistakes as he did when he was sacked by LFC and thereafter at INTER, ranting to the media in interviews, not changing his system during games and still stubborn and seemingly unapproachable in regards to his playing staff.
but if you have an opinion that can prove me wrong on any of these then go ahead.

s. p

I'd say you have a chance of the Chelsea job yourself as you clearly demonstrate your ability to alienate most of those around you

The billy big time players at chelsea work against any manager they do not like

01 Mar 2013 13:53:31
Hey fellow kopites! I know no game of football is easy but after watching the fixtures list with my red tinted glasses I think we will win all our remaining games except at Newcastle where I think we will draw and finish 4th on 70 points. And before anyone asks no i'm not drunk. I just have a good feeling about this.

Enjoy the rest of the season and keep supporting our great club no matter happens. I'd like to put to words how much I love this club but as all we fellow kopites know that this feeling we have for our great club cannot be expressed by mere words.

Cheers!
YNWA.

Lets just win the first game and worry after that.

You are wrong - we have one 3 away games in the PL all season so where your confidence comes from baffles me.

Concentrate on tomorrow

01 Mar 2013 13:46:43
Eds, If suarez leaves, who do you think will get his parking space?

The space will be retired, just like Carragher's shirt number.

I have dibs

01 Mar 2013 12:32:13
I hurts me being a Liverpool fan that most of you guys are much interested in
Suarez leaving this summer. Well, we still have 11 Games to go and so much to play for. Who comes in depends on who goes out. So let's just stop the banter and get behind the Lads to end the season on a HIGH. Y. W. N. A.

D_Tru_Red

Don't be hurt by people postulating over future events. It's bound to happen, there are 11 games left and no matter what for those 11 games Suarez will be a Liverpool player and knowing the kinda of player and man he is, he'll only ever try his hardest for the team.

But we should ready ourselves for the blow in case he does want to go elsewhere. He's amazing to watch and no doubt playing the way he has for us this season he's got some of the currently more successful teams looking at him. That's a testament to how well he is doing for us. But like Torres, if Suarez wants out and we get an acceptable offer we will sell. I think we have to in that situation, if the player wants out and a club is willing to met Liverpool's valuation then that's business, unhappy players/assets aren't healthy in the long run.

01 Mar 2013 11:32:16
Having watched the Suarez interview with I am confident that he is going nowhere in the summer. At the end he talks about being an honourary scouser, his love of the club, and mentions Stevie and Carra having been at the club for so long.

ChrisE

01 Mar 2013 13:00:27
If he stays for another 4-5 years and keeps performing as is, he will truely be one of the greats!

01 Mar 2013 09:38:59
hi, eds, we would sign a left back in summer, which player u would like him playing for us? {Ed001's Note - to be honest, I would be happy to see Johnson, Enrique and Robinson as our left backs, if Robinson gets it together on his loan spell. There is enough ability there, with Smith as extra cover, that I don't see it as a priority position to spend money on. I would rather we put more money towards a centre half.}

Agree with you Ed. I really was sold on Jack Robinson when he first came on the scene. He has everything commitment, pace and good awareness. It is stupidity that people keep on mentioning Luke Shaw when we have one of our own in the ranks. Ed/ Fellow reds any idea how has he been doing at Wolves?
really hope he progresses well and becomes our Ashley Cole (without the d**kness and having some loyalty)

01 Mar 2013 09:12:22
Ed001, what's you thoughts on rossiter and Dunn and do you see them having a future at lfc? {Ed001's Note - yes, I think both have a very good chance of a future with us.}

01 Mar 2013 10:49:36
sack rodgers and get in martinez from wigan

That is a terrible idea.

FowlerGod.

Brilliant explanation of why we should do something so stupid. That's why if you was in charge sacking every manager we get we'd be relegated

Can people stop talking about Suarez leaving!

Everytime I come on here the most talked about subject is about Suarez leaving. He is not going to leave in the summer so let's sit back and enjoy the remainder of the season

01 Mar 2013 10:02:45
If we get a bad result at Wigan and we play badly will Rodgers job be on the line?

I think it's a fair question to ask. I would like posters to say where they stand before the result. If its a loss were you right all along. Its to big a job or are you in the ' we're going to finish top 4 and I always believed in Rodgers' camp.
Lets get it all out the way and off your chest today people so we don't have to hear it til our next match.

Rogers for the long haul for me, going through a big transformation which i'm sure is the best thing for the clubs future. So 1 or 2 bad results don't change my mind.

Bristol Red

Any new manager (regardless of who it is) is going to need at least one season (and maybe two) to set the ship right from where we are now. Given Rodgers will have one season in his belt by this summer, I would much rather give him one more year to make a real impact and improve the team enough to get into Champions League. Any new manager is always going to have to start at zero, once again.

Rodgers to stay regardless of result

01 Mar 2013 19:51:44
It's just a myth that new managers need two seasons. Chelsea change their manager more often than Abramovitch changes his socks but they won the CL. What really matters is that the manager knows tactics and can adapt during games. If you don't believe me just look at the stats.

01 Mar 2013 07:02:16
Hi Eds, I would have to short questions. One is about Daniel Sturridge. Do you think he will play against Wigan? Or is the injury more serious? On the LFC page they mentioned that he'll be assessed. How did he got on?Do you think he will be ready for a full time game? Also would like to ask about Yesil. Is he making progress & when do you see him getting some game time with the 1st team. He is supposed to be a great prospect right? Or any other of the young boys coming through? Ok I've got one more: Will Coutinho be a starter for this game do you think?
Thanks a lot! Appreciate it {Ed002's Note - If they say he will be assessed then he will be, so I don't know. I would doubt you will see Yesil in the first team this season - perhaps a cameo at the end of teh season if anything. I have no ideas if Coutinho will be starting.}

Isn't Yesil out for the best part of 8 months?

Amz

Yesil won't make a cameo for a season if say as he's undergone surgery on a torn cruciate ligament injury

Ed002 needs to do a bit of reading as well!

01 Mar 2013 08:08:25
Player of the Year shd be chosen from struggling teams, and my candidates will be Luis Suarez, Bale, Michu and Juan Mata. Without Mata, and of course the whole Chelsea midfield scoring, they could be in the bottom half; they are less than 20 goals between their strikers across all competitions, 17 I think.

Struggling teams? then name Liverpool, spurs and a chavski also a swan, do you even look at the table these teams are not struggling in the league. andy.

By struggling do you mean any club not from Manchester.

What a tool you are

01 Mar 2013 04:34:33
What worries me is Ian Ayre because of his horrendous inability to manage his role to a acceptable standard. I have no doubt that the person would of allowed Suarez agent to write into the contract this so called 40EURO not pounds clause. You often see Spanish clubs putting amounts on there players in order to scare teams off or highten the price pending the player wanting to leave, I imagine Suarez won't force the issue because he says he dreams of the club and the fact they stood by him he'll want to leave on amicable terms at least, and that's a BIG if he wants to leave, Ayre should of seen this attitude in the player and stamped a 70million get out clause because you know only big clubs will be interested and they all have that sort of money knocking about over a period of installments. {Ed002's Note - You don't understand how this works at all. }

--------------------------------------------------------
Saw your post down arguing with ed2 and saying owners or ian are the problem, you don't understand how it works, Liverpool can not just keep clause as much as they want, it has to be all parties agreeing including Suarez and his agent, Suarez or his agent wouldn't have accepted signing new contract with Liverpool putting unrealistic prize and risk closing his options, you forget Liverpool are not in champions league so no player is going to risk signing contracts with unrealistic clauses and risk closing their options.

Ian ayre is more qualified then you can ever be!

Ed2 mate Forgive me for my english as english is not my first laguage but trying very hard so atleast can post here

01 Mar 2013 02:39:08
Hey ed,

I know most of your job on this site is answering Suarez related enquiries. However do you think BR's statement that he's here for the long haul and his agent agrees are something to be positive about - in the sense we get to keep him - or just part of the game and if a good offer comes he goes. {Ed013's Note - You have got to give the manager time, it is positive until the fans turn on him}

01 Mar 2013 02:14:23
i think suarez will give us 1 more season to see if we are making the progress he wants, so the summer signings will be important, and we will see were the americans want to take us, I think suarez loves the club and Liverpool and I don't think he is interested in champs league, he is only interested in playing football and winning games, at the moment he is doing everything on his own so let's wait and see what the summer brings, and please BR no more swansea players there are better players out there who can do the job better

Was looking up ours, Chelsea and Arsenal's fixtures towards the end of the season. From my perspective (never know with the prem) we have the cabability to total 66 points. Chelsea 62 and Arsenal 62! Why can't we hope on forth? let's GO REDS

Of course you can hope!

Personally I don't think we'll make 60 points.

Lets take it week at a time and start with 3 points from Wigan (Which have been a bogey team for us in the last few years).

I know this has been done to death, but I can't see Suarez leaving the EPL for the Bundesliga. I could only see him moving for La Liga. I am not being condesending, but wouldn't that be a step backwards, regardless of the team

Daveevad

The German League is a good standard and going from strength to strength. Dortmund and Bayern both excelling in Europe. One of the world's top manager's choosing to take his next job there.
At Bayern, Suarez would be guaranteed the odd league title and german cup and have a credible shot at winning at least one CL. He would also earn top wages. I don't see that as a step backwards personally.

Ya, I know it's great, bayern and Dortmund are great etc. but name five top players that aren't German or Dutch that play there? If I was Suarez, to forward my career I would be thinking real or barca, maybe Juve of Milan (s). And I feel it's a bit of a cop out from guardiola. I'm not convinced by him. I would love to see him manage a struggling epl team. Both teams he has and will manage are ready made incredible teams with minimum domestic competition

Daveevad

Daveevad Ribery manduzic luiz gustavo Dante breno rafinha for Munich and lewandowski guandogan for Dortmund not to mention Sahin kagawa earlier
