Could some ond tell me why are we blocking Ojo's loan deal? Newcatlf and Rafa are a good prospect for any young lad!

Believable6 Unbelievable7

01 Jul 2017 23:28:26
Klopp wants to have a look at him preseason as he thinks he may be good enough to offer us something. Also if we let ojo go on loan do we buy another backup in case of injuries? Who will thenot push ojo out the door permanently.

01 Jul 2017 23:36:17
Maybe he is going to be given an opportunity? I mean we keep being linked with attackers under 23yrs old. We have one already.
If he has no impact in preseason, then minds might change. Rather see if he can become the winger or attacking player we seem to want to buy, like Lemar at £40m, then buy Lemar at £40m.

01 Jul 2017 23:58:50
Give the manager a break lad!

There are loads on here (including myself) who want to give youngsters a good go, so when there is potential for him staying and breaking in to the team, the manager's decision is criticised.

You're entitled to an opinion, which is as justified as my own, but just remember it's a busy season ahead, and if this new season is anything of a reflection of the last, we would be in a much better place to keep the squad strong, considering some if the injuries we had as a consequence of our gameplay.

It's seasons like this, with first team players potentially being utilised for Europe and the league, that players like him show a little patience and await an opportunity.

I'm sure there will be plenty of chances which they must grow a pair of plums and prove why they belong at the club.

02 Jul 2017 00:20:23
I don't mind him going on loan, I don't mind him staying and getting game time. What I'll mind is him starting and only paying for the u-23s.

02 Jul 2017 02:42:29
Well said Davey.

02 Jul 2017 04:25:11
If he's good enough he stays.

If not he should go to Rafa to improve.

Minutes on the pitch is what all the young lads need, also we should do everything possible to give Rafa a hand where possible. He is a decent man who would return to us in an instance if given the chance.

Klopp deserves credit for wanting to assess them now, even if it is on loan to see have they improved on their return.

02 Jul 2017 07:20:57
Why do some here think he will get chance next season. I personally can't see him getting minutes at liverpool.

02 Jul 2017 10:59:07
Because he is a tallented young player. He is stronger and more league ready than Woodburn and he got chances. I personally think he should be kept and any game possible be brought on as soon as possible.

01 Jul 2017 22:36:56
Eds 002 if you have a second can you give me your opinion on FSG's attitude towards football transfers in English football. I don't understand their blatant disregard to transfers which is bordering on arrogance or worse ignorance. The perception from many is that they can do what they want and not have any accountability for their actions. It's tarnishing the reputation of our club which used to be so classy and proper when doing business. I live in the States and believe me they treat their beloved Boston Red Sox like a newborn baby. They have the 4th largest payroll in the MLB and spend perverse amounts on transfers but the distinction is they do their business in the MLB with decorum and no fuss. So why do they think that have no problem sullying the heritage, prestige, reputation of LFC? They seem to have this poisonous swagger that we as the fans have to pay the price for and suffer the consequences. Your feedback would be appreciated Eds 002.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I would not blame FSG for this. They are the ones digging out the apo9logies.}

02 Jul 2017 00:04:33
I love our manager, but as I said before he arrived, and let's be honest, he is a bit of a clown, and he need to appreciate that this is not Germany, and that EVERY move is monitored closely by the gutter press who feed our insatiable demand for football news.

Ultimately, if we had the finances it wouldn't be a problem.

02 Jul 2017 00:17:41
Thanks for your reply 002. Are you inferring that this debacle is down to just one man? I'm incredulous that Klopp would be so naive and stupid to jeopardize our future?

{Ed002's Note - No. The owners do not do these things. I am not saying it is Klopp alone. Why do you want to keep bring this up.}

02 Jul 2017 10:05:50
Well said Ed002, this got boring weeks ago. Just move on.

01 Jul 2017 22:11:11
Mane, Salah and if Keita is signed up, I hope they become stars, they have the potential. And they make the African nations cup every 4 years then. :p.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

01 Jul 2017 22:27:51
Every 2.

01 Jul 2017 19:16:33
Hi ed001 if you're about. I was wondering what way you would line up next season in relation to the wingers with both Salah and Mane being RW. Would you play Mane at LW and Salah RW? I believe he has previously been played there?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - players move about on the pitch, I would give both of them freedom to roam personally.}

01 Jul 2017 19:55:25
2 players freedom to roam? surely that would disrupt the teams formation especially defensively. we would be slaughtered by the strong teams.

01 Jul 2017 22:03:31
desk - We have always had a fluid system under klopp. It's what he wants.

01 Jul 2017 23:17:02
We keep a formation when we haven't got the ball then as soon as we get it the front 3 especially are interchangeable.

01 Jul 2017 22:15:34
By roam I think ed means interchange as clever players will instinctively cover another players position when said player changes position. i. e. The front 3 move across the pitch creating space yet if we loose the ball they defend the area they are nearest ultimately changing positions whilst retaining the team shape.

02 Jul 2017 00:43:24
What's wrong with left footers playing left wing? Yes interchange and be fluid, but a decent left footed cross when teams park the bus is sometimes what's needed.
Don't tell me it's old fashioned, it's common sense.

02 Jul 2017 04:36:03
Interchange every so often, pulling the opponents defence all over the shop, causing confusion which will create space for the strikers.

I just hope we can strengthen the defence or we will be found out very quick in Europe, concede a messy goal at home gu2ves the opponent a huge boost with the away goal rule.

Time to wise up and man up back there .

03 Jul 2017 01:15:25
Burke in our and a lot of modern systems the responsibility of crossing seems to fall to the fullbacks on the overlap after wingers cut inside.

01 Jul 2017 19:01:39
Gimez and mendy all day long gor me.

Go get keita for less next year!

Believable1 Unbelievable5

01 Jul 2017 15:54:48
Just a question ed's, if these reported rumours are true about naby keita agreeing terms which as a Liverpool fan myself I don't believe they are because of the amount of crap I read and nothing ever happens, what is the difference in this report to the way we delt with the VVD deal? Cause from what I have read we have not approached RBL atall yet so surely this is quite simular.

Another thing that is quite annoying is how can Chelsea sign players such as the German centre half they have just signed before it's even been published on the papers! It's absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing as a fan and for us to see the manner they deal with it its just continues and continues for months then 9/ 10 never happens.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I am struggling to find any differences myself.}

01 Jul 2017 16:24:13
Am I right in thinking that if Jurgen Klopp decides he would like to sign a certain player. the first point of contact would be that players agent, in order to ascertain if the player would actually be open to a move.
If the player is keen on a move, is it ok for his agent to talk contracts and money with Liverpool without the knowledge of the players current club.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not allowed. You are wasting your time if you are scratching around looking to try and justify the actions lof Liverpool and Klopp.}

01 Jul 2017 18:06:44
Not trying to justify anything. Just trying to understand how these transfer deals work.

{Ed002's Note - The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.}

01 Jul 2017 23:51:06
Thank you for explaining things. Much appreciated.

02 Jul 2017 00:35:19
Ed002's thanks for explaining things. it's much appreciated.

01 Jul 2017 14:30:30
Guys I still think Liverpool are as strong as I've seen them the past 30 years. I just think we need three top quality (wether we get them or not) signings. Just to be able to keep the tempo up with the champions league games etc. So what's people thoughts as it's not likely to be VVD, keita. Salah we got so who next can we keep sahko?

Is mendy to m city done.?
Is Robertson good enough?

We need to get real as supporters as to were we can be realistic looking for players. Are we aiming to high? Not with Robertson apparently!

I think we have a great chance to build something special for us going forward. But for me the club is at its biggest crossroads it's been at for years.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

01 Jul 2017 14:52:41
Robertson would be a decent signing. He's no Paul Konchesky that lad.

01 Jul 2017 15:05:03
Mendy, Keita and VVD wouid guarantee top 4 next season or higher.

01 Jul 2017 15:15:00
Need to start sorting that defence out. VVD should be the priority. Then a left back.
Clean sheets in Europe with Lovren and Milner? Qualifying will be hard enough never mind the group stages.

01 Jul 2017 15:29:22
I thought this was going to be one of the best transfer windows in meany years with the prospect of champions league and klopp in charge. And I know the window has only just opened and we've sighed a winger. but just thought klopp would want the players in asap to start preseason next week. Fingers crossed we are not saying we can't find a LB at the end of the window. Come on Liverpool let's get the players we need. Asap.

01 Jul 2017 15:29:54
We are nowhere near the team we had under Rafa (mainly), never mind 30 years ago.

01 Jul 2017 16:33:56
Impossible as Klopp doesn't like him, but I think we should give sakho another throw of the dice.

01 Jul 2017 17:34:40
We often tend to romanticise the past and underrate the present.
To say this team is nowhere near Rafa's team is a grossly wrong statement imo. I'd put this team now with the addition of Salah at par with them. Add Keita and VVD and this will be our best team of the premier league era in my humble opinion.

01 Jul 2017 17:59:24
Lets see how many Champions League finals this team gets into Reet.

01 Jul 2017 18:57:48
Rafa had Gerrard, Alonso, Torres at his peak and an excellent defence. I think Mane and coutinho would get in that team but no one else.

01 Jul 2017 19:55:17
Gerrard, Alonso, Torres, Mascherano, Reina, Hyypia, Garcia.

No comparison.

01 Jul 2017 20:53:13
Reina>Mignolet
Arbeloa>Clyne
Carragher>Matip
Agger>Lovren
Aurelio>Milner
Alonso>Henderson
Mascherano=Wijnaldum
Gerrard>Coutinho
Kuyt=Mane
Babel / Firmino

Fair to say the only player in Rafas team who definitely wouldn't get into this one was Babel. Kuyt was at least as good as Mane but arguably Mane gives away work rate for more pace in behind. Mascherano was a better defensive player than Wijnaldum but not as effective going forward so I'd call that a draw.

Aside from that, every other player from Rafas best team would walk into our team.

01 Jul 2017 22:15:15
Loved Kuyt but Mane starts over him, Aurelio. eh I think I take Milner (probably get blasted for that but I don't recall Arbeloa and Aurelio as fondly as others. Problem with rafas best team was depth which we have in spades and I can still see us being a strong side domestically and in Europe. Plus we don't know what Salah will be for us and could add a serious player or two in a few days. Good point of this thread however is that Rafa had some amazing players at his disposal!

01 Jul 2017 22:52:19
I thought Aurelio could have been the best left back Liverpool would have had in ages. if we could have got him on the pitch more. He definately had the ability.

01 Jul 2017 23:15:31
Rafa is always the better MANAGER! Tactially astute!

02 Jul 2017 08:27:22
All teams are judged by what they win, Rafa nailed it in his early to mid terms, Klopp has had a bigger job rebuilding overall IMO so maybe a bit early to make a complete judgement, and why doesn't Hamman get a shout, personally I thought he was excellent.

02 Jul 2017 23:51:45
Ron, you missed Carra and Didi? .

01 Jul 2017 12:52:47
Is the transfer window open today, or is it Monday?

💰💰💰.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Today.}

01 Jul 2017 14:37:28
You mean it's open now and we haven't signed anyone!
What the hell.

01 Jul 2017 14:46:26
Bleedin joke this. I expected 3 signings by half ten this morning. What the funk?

01 Jul 2017 14:46:41
We have signed someone laughin2.

01 Jul 2017 13:50:16
Great news 😎
Thanks Ed 😘.

01 Jul 2017 18:59:14
Ron, you'll have to change your default post to 'the window doesn't close till September'

01 Jul 2017 18:12:47
I don't understand how transfer window is open today yet about 20+ deals have already been done involving premier league clubs in June.

{Ed002's Note - It is not possible to complete across border transfers before today.}

02 Jul 2017 00:25:21
Jk82, the transfers that have happened before today haven't been formally completed (despite being signed off by the players and clubs involved) . Salah and Solanke technically weren't Liverpool players until this morning.

02 Jul 2017 08:09:08
Cheers ed 002 and PutneyRed.

01 Jul 2017 12:46:40
Very true. I can't see them doing that so hopefully move onto other targets quick as cb is a crucial area that needs addressing. Cheers for the replys. Always a pleasure 👍.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Jul 2017 12:36:05
Heard michael beale has resigned from sao Paulo. Do you reckon he could come back? Still has a house in the city and very well respected within the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No idea I am afraid.}

01 Jul 2017 12:22:07
Hi all,
Now that it appears that Palace have dropped their interest in Sahko would you know if any other club has shown any in him please?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

01 Jul 2017 12:20:46
Very true Ed002. The statement did include that line. Maybe it's just me and I should stop taking any heed of Twitter rumours and ex players and journalists etc continously saying the Vvd deal could still happen. thanks for your reply👍.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Of course it can still happen. If the club were will to make a humiliating U-turn and go back to Southampton with an offer of at least £70M and be willing to except any consequences.}

01 Jul 2017 14:02:14
Or maybe it will just happen as both the club and player want the move, and Pellegrino won't want to start the season with an unsettled cash cow who can be sold and the money reinvested to targets he wants.

{Ed002's Note - But Liverpool has withdrawn interest.}

01 Jul 2017 18:14:07
I understand that, but given LFCs behavior in regards to tapping up, I believe it has been shown that being up front and honest isn't exactly a virtue we're a paragon of.

I don't think it'd be out of the question for the club to attempt to negotiate despite the public withdrawal.

{Ed002's Note - Of corse they can. If the d it without the consent of the club then there will be yet another complaint.}

01 Jul 2017 11:42:33
Hello ED002 how do you rate Salah? How much do you think he will improve our team next season?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Salah is a very good player indeed who sadly did not settle at Chelsea for a couple of reasons. He did well at Fiorentina but was not entirely settled there so he went back to Chelsea before a very successful couple of seasons at Roma. Because of his natural position as a left footed right winger I still think Klopp's first choice of Julian Brandt would have been the better option as his natural position is on the left wing. Regardless, Salah will be a very good addition.}

01 Jul 2017 11:56:02
Thank you ed002.

01 Jul 2017 13:11:57
I agree ed, I think Brandt would have been great. Do you think Mane may return to left side, a position he has played previously? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I would hope not as he has been successful on the right.}

01 Jul 2017 13:52:03
Genuinely looking forward to seeing them both giving full backs a hard time.

01 Jul 2017 16:13:45
Thanks for being so genuine Hansens Scar.

01 Jul 2017 16:28:17
What a nice thread with no silly questions and know rose tinted niave coments. nice ey edd!

{Ed002's Note - Yes it is Billy.}

01 Jul 2017 19:43:57
Ed01, Brandt recently came out and said that he did not move to us eventually, cos he didn't think he was ready to make the jump to a bigger club and needed to develop further at Bayer Leverkusen. He may have been a better option BUT Salah is more than a good addition as he is more proven as Brandt is, IMO and will improve us as he and Mane can play either side of our fluid front three.

{Ed001's Note - erm pardon?}

01 Jul 2017 22:29:52
I personally think Salah will start on the right with Mane on the left allowing both to cut in on there favourite foot with our fullbacks overlapping to create the width.

01 Jul 2017 11:09:17
I find it amazing we was going to pay however much for van dijk when the likes of rudiger and Manila's are available for half the price.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

01 Jul 2017 11:41:20
But would they want to join us though? VVD did. Ludicrous price though I agree.

01 Jul 2017 11:42:49
Rüdiger is really injury prone. He was injured a total of 226 days in the last 2 years and he picked these up in a league that is far less physical then the PL.

{Ed002's Note - Cruciate Ligament injuries happen in many leagues.}

01 Jul 2017 11:45:46
Rudiger isn't actually very good, I'm presuming you've actually seen him?

01 Jul 2017 11:51:09
Mate, are they "available to Liverpool" for half the price?
Selling clubs adjust their asking price based on the customers. This fundamental concept is ignored by too many.
A premier league club with champions league participation is one of the richest customers and the asking price is adjusted accordingly.
Last time we were in the champions league, we tried to upgrade our squad by buying lots of decent players - Lallana, lambert, Lovren etc. We sold a world class player and bought a load of decent players who were not good enough for the champions league.
This time we are targeting quality over quantity. It costs more but ultimately will prove good value.

01 Jul 2017 12:58:37
He's playing on the Confederate cup over tah who most on here want.

01 Jul 2017 14:28:14
He went down with a hand to the chest by Hernandez faking injury when his team were already 3 up. Not what I want in a cb. Plus his hair is just watched too normal. No thanks.

01 Jul 2017 19:50:18
So a CB that is time-wasting is now a way to judge the talent of a player, Davey? Good grief! People saying Ruddiger had an injury. Sorry, VVD did not play the last 5 months of a season but he is not injury prone? Come on, these arguments don't make sense. The idea that a more polished and better CB, a current German international (VVD wouldn't make Germany's bench at CB) should cost 2 times less than an overrated and VVD, is flat out madness and is just illogical. If I was to pick btw the two, I know who I am not picking and that is VVD. People say "there are no better CB's out there than VVD so just pay the money". Well, Chelsea just lay waste to that argument by signing Ruddiger.

01 Jul 2017 20:30:42
Well said Brussels I'm afraid it's hard to say anything on his page anymore without being slated unless you encourage us to spend vast sums on average players. Keita yes vvd no thanks. I wouldn't give them 30 mil for him.

01 Jul 2017 10:38:17
Has Solanke been spotted in LFC shirt leaning against anything yet?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Jul 2017 10:50:16
I saw someone like him driving a bmw to Melwood! I waved at him but he ignored. 😞.

01 Jul 2017 11:05:45
That was Frenchy in his 7 series.

01 Jul 2017 09:54:24
Eds,

When we hear reports of someone agreeing personal terms before an official offer has been made. I'd that even possible? That would be tapping up surely wouldn't it? Is it just more tabloid rhetoric like 'preparing a bid'?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It is not allowed to speak with a player without the permission of his club - that would be "tapping up". It is also not allowed to talk to an agent about that level of detail without the permissionh of his club - again "tapping up". It is morally abhorrent for a club to deliberately use the press to unsettle players in order to try and force the move - particularly "on the cheap".}

01 Jul 2017 10:21:46
Cheers Ed.

01 Jul 2017 10:27:47
I guess when it rains, it pours regarding this tapping up nonsense then, Ed.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new.}

01 Jul 2017 10:46:00
Before the hysteria kicks in, we don't know if the club has talked to Keita without RBL permission. You don't necessarily have to have a bid accepted to have permission to speak to a player, as far as I'm aware.

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool has spoken with Keita it is WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF HIS CLUB Ron.}

01 Jul 2017 11:07:09
Guaranga ed how do you do it? This page has been the same for the last 3 weeks just different people asking the same questions a different way. Take a break.

01 Jul 2017 11:27:21
i have been ignoring most reports since VVD, bt i must say the reports written about keita is looking exactly like VVD.

i just hope its journalists guessing. this shouldn't happen twice in a row.

01 Jul 2017 15:31:23
I also remember that salah had agreed personal terms before a fee was a gread and now reports saying kieta agred personeol terms and a fee has not BEEN submited yet sound foRmilia dosent it YNWA sorry about spelling.

01 Jul 2017 19:58:10
Regardless of wether or not Roma had accepted a bit for salah, doesn't mean the club hadn't given Liverpool permission to have talks with the player. Maybe they were confident of getting more money out of Liverpool and saw it as a way of prompting the higher offer after Liverpool knew the player wanted the move?

01 Jul 2017 19:52:23
It seemed like Salah was believed to have been tapped up as well but it seems we just paid what they wanted and the issue died or something like that. Can Ed02 pls, shed more light on this?

{Ed002's Note - Salah's agent used social media when negotiations were going on an Roma kicked his ass. He apologised and remarkably someone up their bid accordingly.}

01 Jul 2017 09:39:17
Chelsea have secured a deal to sign roma cb rudigar. Guess there interest in Vvd has gone. They have realised Southampton don't want to sell and have moved on quick. Maybe we should do the same eds and move to other targets . Unless we are full sure we have a chance at getting Vvd?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool issued a humiliating apology and a statement dropping their interest. Why is that so difficult to understand?}

01 Jul 2017 10:18:25
The VVD saga sounds very familiar, How many of you have you in the past have cheekily checked the availability of your best friends girlfriend on a drunken night out and she gives you signals she wants you too! Only to realise the following morning she told your best friend, now you have to issue a grovelling apology to your best friend, "It was just drunken banter and wouldn't dream of doing that to you! " Now you leave it too settle, only to realise a few weeks later that they have split up, you find yourself down town with a different friend, she's out with her friends too and before you know it your both hooked up and it's the start of a wonderful relationship, though your best friend is not happy about the situation they will make out it's fine and carry on! Yeah people will talk, you feel guilty but that will pass! Anyone else? Just me then! 😂😂😂 What I'm saying is, it's not quite dead in the water just yet! 😉.

{Ed002's Note - So the club lied yet again? Wow.}

01 Jul 2017 10:33:17
Hardy, your analogy is way off base and a poor attempt at deflection. No wonder Saints are pissed off. We should just move on from this pathetic situation we have created for ourselves and face the consequences that we have messed up and left a player in limbo. Tapping up is illegal, end of story.

Also instead of constantly deflecting and defending the indefensible just cos "other teams do it", we should fix these issues that are eating out our club's credibility and standing in football. Now that would be a start, right?

01 Jul 2017 13:18:56
It's called light hearted humour, Calm down! I'm sure the club have learnt their lesson! What will be will be, I'm sure the signings will come!

01 Jul 2017 15:48:40
Hardy, that analogy just shows where your morals lie. Awful friend.

{Ed001's Note - he sounds like the kind of person who will soon have no friends! What a total ****.}

01 Jul 2017 19:17:58
Oh dear! I didn't realise i was being serious and that actually happened to me! Why so serious? A banter page where no one has a sense of humour! 🤔🤔🤔.

01 Jul 2017 23:31:39
Southampton have got a cheek. I thought it was buy 4 get the fifth one free.

Lol sorry, genuinely mate great article. Do you do these often?

{Ed001's Note - as often as I can. If you look on the site there are a couple on there I have done recently. I do them as often as time allows.}

Always felt it's a shame it didn't work out. Also felt he could be very useful when we have 80% possession at home and unable to score!

01 Jul 2017 09:54:15
Will have a look later on today, Cheers ed1.

Reading some comments here are slightly embarrassing? Don't want to insult anyone, but please think before you post. The desperation and self torture fans go through during a transfer windows is embarrassing. Just relax and wait and see. Personally love to see a good signing and hold a season ticket! But don't understand the obsession of signings we get who we get! Relax!

Did anybody get the gist of what Nikp87 is saying? I've read the last bit 15 times and I'm getting more and more confused each time I read it. Holding a season ticket? Please tell me that's a typo for my own sanity!

01 Jul 2017 06:08:39
What does a season ticket has to do with transfers? Or are you from the Soooper fans section!

01 Jul 2017 07:16:01
If the deal happens for keit then great but I really don't think centre mid is a must and if it don't happen we should just go all out and get a top cb and lb, we have shown we can score for fun it's being tight at the back we need and with Hendon hopefully back to fully fit we will be a difficult team to beat!

01 Jul 2017 07:56:39
The OP's post is very clear so I suggest people who don't understand it overall, should read it again. As Kopit said, we are well stocked in CM and if any player should be added there, it should be for depth purposes even tho we have 5/ 6 players there for 3 spots. Our attack is fine as well with 5/ 6 players for 3 spots as well. Our issues like at the FB positions and maybe at CB. This is where we should focus on right now, to improve the first team.

01 Jul 2017 09:16:01
How could anyone say Center Mid is well stocked with quality? Kieta will walk into our midfield. Our center mid is mediocre which is evident when team sits back and we heavily relies on Coutinho to drop into the middle to start piulling things. We are excellent in passing sideways and backwards! There is no one center midfielder who could drive past couple of players. Just having numbers doesn't warrant quality!

Eds, regardless of who we sign with obvious outgoing sharpening aswell, is it not worrying the fact that we struggled so much last season without champions league? For how taxing our style of play is on the players and adding champions league do you there being much room for improvement if any?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember seeing our style of play as a problem, we went through a bad patch, but that was all it was. No team plays well every game.}

01 Jul 2017 06:22:45
Thanks for reply Ed. don't get me wrong I love the football we play with and without the ball, it just seemed to me that the players got a little tired in that bad patch but it obviously could of been for a number of reasons.

{Ed001's Note - they were covering plenty of distance still, I didn't see any tiredness personally, just a lot of players not playing well.}

01 Jul 2017 07:59:37
There a lot of attitude problems as well as we lacked the drive and belief to break teams down and step up to the plate. See Hull and LC defeats for evidence yet we were up for the fight after either of these losses when we went against Spurs and Arsenal respectively. It has nothing to do with physical tiredness. Mental fatigue due to the bad patch we were having? Maybe as that can take a toll on your confidence.

01 Jul 2017 09:25:31
I honestly didn't see it has a tiredness thing, more of a drop of form by certain players and the players who came in to replace missing players not being as good.
Teams started to play narrow with 10 men behind the ball, without Mane we had nobody who could get around this tactic especially at Anfield.
Gini and Can huffed and puffed but neither had the quality to find a way through teams that just parked the bus and let us play the final pass to MIlner or Clyne, who justs hopelessly crossed the ball into the box.
I believe our Aquisition of Salah and our pursuit of Keita will improve us greatly this season especially at home.
Can and Gini both had inconsistencies in their performances last season especially against teams at Anfield who parked the bus.
Clyne and MIlner were also poor against that tactic. I think TAA and a new left back will eventually replace them by October.
That's the way I saw it and i think we will see off teams at home much better this season, just my opinion.

Hi eds. Do we have any serious in any goalkeepers?

{Ed002's Note - It has moved on.}

01 Jul 2017 08:00:24
We have potentially 6 GK's at the club right now. How many do you propose we get?

01 Jul 2017 09:45:46
I think Karius will really step it up, he has to in order to gain a first team regular place. Should he fail, we have Mignolet to fall back on, he had a decent season last season but I do feel we need to give Karius more of a chance, because he didn't really get much of a chance before and everybody slated him on his performances, he was getting destroyed. Most people forget he had just come back from a broken hand. The last thing we need is a new GK. We also have Ward? who in my opinion should also be given a chance.

01 Jul 2017 10:40:31
Spot on, Teabag. The way he was treated by our own fans (don't care about the media nor the failed manager turned pundit who has a vendetta vs LFC) was appalling just cos he made two mistakes (as if no GK has ever made one in his entire career) which is part of the learning curve. They are the ones who destroyed his confidence and made Klopp act. To me, Karius is the future lof LFC, Migs is not regardless of his upturn in performances which is not that impressive in the end, cos he had been bang awful for 3 years before Karius arrived. In fact, it was his incompetence led to Karius being here. Karius is talented BUT just needs to get stronger, improve his performances, and we need to get a better defence around him as well as defending is a team game, not just for the GK alone.

01 Jul 2017 11:07:12
I merely asked a question brussels, didn't propose anything.

01 Jul 2017 14:23:16
Agreed BR.

30 Jun 2017 23:54:07
One thing is for sure. It will take a quality left back to come in and be as consistent so Milner was last season. He is just the kind of full back successful teams of the past, not just Liverpool had. Bit like Denis Irwin for me. Understated but quality, gives 100 per cent and has bags of experience. No drama if we don't spend big on a left back. definitely need cover tho which is why robertson would be a good signing.

The lad has plenty of potential and is Young enough to be eased into playing for a huge club like us. I hope VVD happens as him and Matip together would be immense but can't see us going back after our embarrassing public statement.

01 Jul 2017 04:11:23
I see what you're saying. I think Milner produced more going forward than Clyne did. Neither was bad defending and I know Milner cut back onto his right a lot (let's remember he played their out of duty not desire), but he was at least creative and solid taking pens. What exactly did Clyne produce? I can use my left foot better than he can, and I'm an old hack 😀.

01 Jul 2017 07:58:42
I think I have it right that Milner scored seven goals and one assist, Clyne no goals and one assist. Even taking into consideration penalties that speaks for itself. In defence, Clyne is reasonable when the ball is on the ground IMO but poor in the air.

I think that RB is as key as LB next year. Also think with a left footed winger in the squad then Milner at LB isn't as problematic as it was last season, where both Coutinho and Milners lacked pace and both their natural instinct was to cut in rather than get in behind.

01 Jul 2017 09:40:25
All of Milner's goals were penalties Zimbo, ridiculous comment.

01 Jul 2017 09:50:30
The ideal situation would be to get a LB, RB, CB, CM. This won't happen and we all know it. I think more important in this order is CB, LB, CM, RB. I believe we can be fine with Clyne for another season, yes he's not exactly incredible but if needs be we have Milner who could step in and TAA. I think splashing money out on a RB this window would be a mistake and TAA would be probably history.

30 Jun 2017 23:35:12
1st time rant, so go easy.
At times last season we were unbeatable, the 3 players we missed most were Matip, Coutinho and Mane. When they weren't in the team we really suffered (Ok, Hendo too, but Emre is an able deputy) . If we sign VVD and Keita to go with Salah we've got top class replacements for all 3 if they're not fit.

When they're all available we'll have better strength in depth than we've had in years and the competition for places motivates players, especially with UCL games to play in. Would that not be a good transfer window? For a change?

Believable10 Unbelievable0

01 Jul 2017 03:53:04
i agree Dennerly, but somehow i don't feel like we'll be getting both or even 1 of VVD and Keita. there's a lot of rumours, talks going around but until i see them confirmed, i won't be getting excited.

if however we do manage to pull both, including atleast a LB if not another RB as well, we do have better strength in depth and i expect us to challenge on all competitions next season. it does however, mean that its a make or break season for klopp for most likely breaking the transfer record 3 times in a row (VVD>Keita>Salah) in a single season.

01 Jul 2017 04:30:04
Change VVD to someone who can really defend and not just rely on his speed to make a last ditched tackle and it would be a great transfer window for us. For me the problem is all the extra games people talk about- if we don't play well in the qualifying rounds and are kicked out of CL then we have a bloated squad and will be very difficult to keep everyone happy. On a side note don't you guys think the last 2 managers we have/ had-Klopp and Rodgers are like kids in a candy shop when it comes to tranfer.

01 Jul 2017 08:01:44
Klopp did very well last season in terms of transfers, and this year Solanke and Salah seem shrewd. can't put him in the same bucket as the previous seasons where it seems quantity was prioritised over quality (with a couple of notable exceptions) .

01 Jul 2017 08:04:21
Rodgers may have been like a kid in a candy shop, and plenty of fans are but that's not the same with Klopp.
I'm not sure how you arrive at that conclusion.

01 Jul 2017 08:18:53
Spot on, Crazy. To the OP's post, the issue is not that the players we are looking at (NK and VVD) will not improve us. The problem is their evaluation and price. That is the issue for me. 140m for two players who for one, is a HUGE gamble for a player with only one season in a top league tho talented, and for the other who is talented but has a lot of faults to his game. That is my issue.

People say "the money is irrelevant". Well, that is patently false. If that was the case, why did Chelsea (who spend like no tmrw presumably) had to back down from VVD and Bonucci both better than VVD, by the way) cos they were too expensive. Even some of their fans are whining that they can't get their first choice targets. They are now going for Ruddiger (Roma) for 30m. So are people trying to tell me that VVD is worth more than twice the price of a German international (VVD would not even make the stands at CB for Germany) who is more experienced and a more polished CB than he is? Sorry but that makes no sense to me.

There are very good players for great value out there and Mo Salah is a perfect example of that as he is more proven as a player than Keita overall is so I suggest we get to work and find the right players for us instead of dropping 140 for two high risk players. Even Chelsea don't do that anymore.
