I find it hilarious that people are syaing we are "missing out" on certain players. Just because there is rumours bout players it does not mean we were interested. Obviously Jones and Young chose United ahead of us but that is not anything to do with our transfer policy. I doubt Adam, Nzogbia and Downing are first choice signings as we could get them now if wanted.
I believe there are far better quality to be bought and I respect that KK is waiting for them instead of panic buying average players. We need more genuine quality like suarez who will improve the team not average players who excel at average teams. These players wont push us on to close the gap on the top 4 who are already way ahead of us.

Ed do you think we will be happy with the players we have at the end of the Transfer Window or do you think we will be quite annoyed ? Basically do you think we will have a good Transfer Window ? cheers mate. {Ed009's Note - I think we will be happy but it totally depends on your expectations. I personally would be happy with Adam, Downing and one or two continental players, perhaps Mata or left back - would you?!}

Hi Eds (second post)

Great site, just read an article on Kenny not saying he is willing to talk about our transfers but then denied to comment in adam, i respect this and respect him but feel slightly frustrated that while he says he doesnt pay attention to the media or gossip of signings liverpool are supposed to be making clearly other teams are hence why players we get linked wiht keep going to other clubs and meanwhile we seem to be left waiting as he said pre season starts monday susrely the sooner the better to get lads in and get them use to the life at liverpool before season starts? AB Red {Ed009's Note - I am sure they are working on signings as we speak. The point he is making is not to believe everything you read. He may well have seen all the suicidals on this site and wanted to reassure us!}

Adam played a stormer in both games against us last season for Blackpool.
Nzogbia likewise for Wigan.
They also scored 21 goals between them last season.
Both left sided players, "were we hardly get any goals from". Yet on the right side were probably the best in the Prem.
Expect them both to sign for LFC.The balance in the team will be vastly improved.

From ESPN:

Luis Suarez has been quoted as admitting he dreams of playing for Barcelona. The Liverpool forward reportedly told Don Balon magazine: "If Guardiola wants me, I want to play for Barcelona." Apparently, Suarez's agent is the brother of Pep Guardiola.
I don't know how I feel about that. Eds?

KB {Ed002's Note - I don't know how you feel about it either.}

Sergio Aguero and Arda Turan have dreamed of playing for LFC, KB. It dosn't mean it's going to happen mate. Me thinks that the media is being naughty again, by not telling the full truth (as usual)

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. Don't buy the S*n and The M*il. {Ed009's Note - I think the quote is taken out of context, and could he really be blamed if its his DREAM? I doubt very much that the player will move this summer.}

Daglish: Liverpool will not publicly sign players.
Daglish also said that if reports in the newspapers are true than we will have around 300 players at the end of transfer window.
Daglish also said that he would like to conclude deals behind closed doors.
When asked about Adam and millner, he replied that he will not take name of any player untill the deal is done.

Hi Ed,
I suggest you guys set up a page purely dedicated to all the Editors something like 'Editors take'. By doing so, you can update latest status about players:
Who we are strongly linked
Who are being scouted
Who are set for exit
before waiting for us to post queries

We were rumoured to be after Griezzman before winter transfer window started. Barcelona were planning to sign him if Sanchez deal didn't go through. Now that the latter is almost a done deal, Ed, do you rate him and believe he can do a good job in our wings adjusting to EPL? What are our chances of getting him considering John Toshack's Real Sociedad connections?

Similarly, won't Izaguirre be more easier to get unlike other targets considering King Kenny's Celtic rapport to solve our left back problem?
How much will he cost?

SRK {Ed002's Note - Experience tells us that duplicate questions won't stop.}

Hi Everyone,

I have no insider information or neither am I going to pretend I am the uncle or cousin of a famous footballer like some sad people. However, I am a massive LFC fan based in Ireland and about 2 years ago Kenny Dalglish attended a charity dinner in Dublin with former players like Ronnie Whelan and Ray Houghton and when I managed to get Kenny's autograph afterwards, I asked him who he thought was the best player in Premier League and to my suprise his response was - Michael Essien. Now, I am not saying we are going to sign him but I would just like to just share some genuine information with my fellow LFC fans.

The hardest player Liverpool will find hard to get rid of is Milan Jovanovic he's on £120,000K at Anfield who's gonna pay for that ? Ridiculous Wages {Ed009's Note - the player isn't on 120k a week, let alone 120,000k. His wage is roughly 70,000 but is bumped up to around that when all his signing on fees are taken into account.}

Cant have been many transfers today as Kenny has been in Belfast receiving an Honourary Degree, or are they all done??...

Eds, just a quick question if by now nobody has offered for our so called "dead weight" what is stopping us from releasing them from there respective contracts or is there something i am missing here?

D690 {Ed009's Note - they have to agree to such a move, and many of them will know as well as you or I that they simply won't be signed again on anything like the same wage.}

I think it is important to post this in rumours. KK is not a man to buy many top name players. He buys players who ensure that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts and ensures a team style, ethic and harmony that creates a winning mentality.

In his first stint as manager the only very big name was Beardsley and even Barnes was viewed as a risk due to inconsistency.

At the time people said buy in Aldridge was madness, 28 years old and from a small team like Oxford.

Please all you posters who aren't old enough to remember this golden time have faith as KK really does have an unrivalled understanding of the game.

Below is a list of every player KK bought or gave a debut to. Looks pretty good to me. The numbers are the price paid.

Andy Carroll 31 January 2011 35,000,000 Newcastle United Luis Suarez 31 January 2011 22, 700,000 Ajax Jordan Henderson 9 June 2011 16,000,000 Sunderland Ian Rush August 1988 2, 800,000 Juventus Peter Beardsley July 1987 1, 900,000 Newcastle United Ronny Rosenthal June 1990 1,000,000 Standard Liege John Barnes June 1987 900,000 Watford Ray Houghton October 1987 825,000 Oxford United Jimmy Carter January 1991 800,000 Millwall John Aldridge January 1987 750,000 Oxford United David Speedie February 1991 675,000 Coventry City Glenn Hysen August 1989 650,000 Fiorentina David Burrows October 1988 500,000 West Bromwich Albion Nigel Spackman February 1987 400,000 Chelsea Jamie Redknapp January 1991 350,000 AFC Bournemouth Steve McMahon September 1985 350,000 Aston Villa Barry Venison July 1986 250,000 Sunderland Don Hutchison November 1990 175,000 Hartlepool United Steve Harkness July 1989 75,000 Carlisle United Alan Irvine November 1986 75,000 Falkirk Steve Staunton August 1986 50,000 Dundalk Mike Hooper October 1985 40,000 Wrexham Nick Tanner July 1988 20,000 Bristol Rovers Barry Dures 1988 0 Trainee Jim Magilton May 1986 0 Trainee John Durnin March 1986 0 Waterloo Dock Robbie Holcroft 1990 0 Trainee Barry Jones January 1989 0 Prescot T Mike Marsh August 1987 0 Kirkby Town Steve McManaman February 1990

Hi eds and fellow reds Watched some highlights of the England U17s game vs argentina and I was very impressed by both sterling and Morgan. The latter particularly impressed me and was just wondering if u think either will feature for the first team next season? I personally am delighted we didnt waste our money on the over-priced wickham and would much rather see Morgan brought through Interested to hear your thoughts ed, great site by the way

Cheers,
Red Pedro {Ed009's Note - I imagine Sterling will get a few games next season, probably off the bench. He won't be a regular though, simply because it would be a very risky amount of stress to put on such a young lad's body.}

Players state they are happy, excited at the new season and working with KK/SC. Ex-players who are close to the club are opyimistic and predict a bright future, The 'fly-by' fans on here moan worse the my missus, the way they carry on you would think Woy was back in charge. Patience is a great quality, faith a good belief system, passion, pride and loyalty are qualities of true Reds. Watch and learn from KK's up and coming dynasty, it will take a bit of time but will be a joy to be part of. The good days are coming back lads relax and enjoy, plus sing your hearts out at every game next season to remind all the other teams we are the mighty LFC.

Hi Eds great site these arnt rumours buh just people who i think are realistic and who i would like not all of them but a mixture would be great just want to see how many fans would agree with me that these players would make a difference next season.

Charlie Adam
Juan Mata
Xherdan Shaqiri
Adam Johnson
Christian Eriksson
Jeffren Suarez

Can i have your thoughts on these players ed if you think any would be good signings ? {Ed009's Note - Adam, Mata, Johnson and Eriksson are very good players, the other two are not good enough for me.}

01 Jul 2011 20:30:06
I believe Liverpool have had 2 bids turned down £6 & £7 million for Charlie Adam. Blackpool have said they want £9m. What is the difference in money between finishing 5th & 6th. We all know the difference between 5th & 4th. The point is if helps LFC to finish higher the money is worth it. To me this is like the Gareth Barry deal all over again.Charlie Adam will end up somewhere else

I think not being in europe will bring some advantages to us.We will be able to concentrate more on premiership than previous years.
Thus we have a very good chance of breaking in to the top four.Therefore with only 2-3 decent addition excluding Henderson, we will find it easy in comparison to other top flight teams.
And we can also win FA or Carling cup.
(Just think about it it's a huge factor)

Dalglish in Coleraine NI today receiving an Honorary Degree my mate picked him up in a cab and asked him about transfers who's coming in and he said still working on a few deals but not going to pay over the odds unless we feel he is worth it. Jones, Young etc just not worth the money. Also trying to move players in the other direction as well. We are very ecited about some of the youngsters coming through.

01 Jul 2011 20:14:55
Quick question eds, Back in the day Rick Parry took some bad press for the slowness of transfer dealings when he was Chief Exec. Are we seeing a similar thing now with Ian Ayre or is Comolli responsible for negotiations (for example the Adam signing seems to be dragging on now) or am I just being impatient?

01 Jul 2011 20:07:53
In this years transfer market liverpool has three main problems.

FIRSTLY: They are not in champions League or europa League this year.

SECONDLY: As they are not in europe this season they will have to pay over the odds for good players.

THIRDLY: D.C want's to spend money but not in high cost players.

As a result we will not sign too costly players. And we will only buy decent young and players.
But Some Liverpool fans are not understanding these facts.
I would love to hear your opinion ed.

Liverpool transfer policies is total in disarry
We are missing out so many excellent players
Already we miss out 4 players
Jones went to Man Utd he feel he got better chance of winning any trophies
Marveaux went to Newcastle fail the medical and do not want to take a chance remember Aquilani
Young went to Man Utd same reason as Jones
Wickham went to Sunderland because Liverpool won't paid £12m for a Championship player

Here is the list of player potentialy would miss out
Jose Enrique - might still on with Newcastle since Newcastle offer a highly lucative contract
Stewart Downing - won't paid the £18m asking price which value him around £12m max
Scott Dann - Stoke have offer just over 10m and Liverpool only value him arround 6-7m
Gary Cahill - too expensive @ £18m and Arsenal is favorite sign him
Charles NZogbia - Aston villa have offer Wigan £15m again dee to be too expensive
Gael Clichy - £8m sound reasonable but can't much Man City wage offer
Leighton Baines - can't see him go across the park to play for Liverpool
Gervinho - Arsenal came in first
Fernando Gago - ask to double is salary
Mamadou Sakho - want ECL football
Diego - His temper is problem KK might not like him in the team
Emilio Izaguirre - again too expensive @ £10m for a scottish League player
Doni - want come because he lost half his salary
Juan Mata - Arsenal, Man Utd and others have make a firm offer and Liverpool haven't have a offer reasonable
Ezequiel Lavezzi - @ £28m for third forward too expensive
Eljero Elia - Chelsea are also interesting and want ECL football
Aly Cissokho - more likely to be Clichy replacement @ Arsenal
Eden Hazard - must offer in excess of £30m+ before Lillie to let him go
Sergio Aguero - £40m + full stop. Chelsea more likely
Cristian Zapata - Udinese still waiting for offer
Dejan Lovren -work permit problem might buy him and loan him back to Lyon meanly won't play PL next season
Moussa Sissoko - Man Utd and Tottenham are chasing him both have European football
Aaron Lennon - Harry won't sell unless he could found a replacement
Santi Cazorla - cost £18m and want to still in spain for couple of years before he going to play aboard
Keisuke Honda - form is bit patchy recently and at £15m could recoup back from Shirt sales but Arsenal also in the hunt.
----------------------------------------
Why do people keep saying were missing out on players that have only been linked in the press or have been mentioned in a forum.We have no clue who are targets are only Kenny and DC know that for sure
we have been linked to every player in europe do you really think we'll get them all.

Hi ed, just looking at these milner rumours i think he would be a great addition to the squad he would be cm also can play on the wing, i rember before he joint city he said that he would welcome a move to liverpool but the price was too much for liverpool last season so he moved too city now liverpool have the money to spend i think they will make a double bid which may go up to 40 million max for james milner and adam johnson once man city have signed one or two players they will let them go whats your opnion ed is it possible?? Thanks Great site.

all of this waiting around for our club to sign players is stressing me out Adam is an absoloute bargain even if we was to pay 12mil hes proven what hes all about last season in the prem an i cant understand why we dont just pay the fee an stop draging this out if we dont sign him an he goes else where i think its gonna be getting a little bit silly now? how can u justify spending 35 mil on andy carroll whois just as proven as adam is but yet we cant agree on a price? or should i say LFC are trying to thrash out a deal for a cheap price? i agree with this but sometimes u got to bite the bullet an spend the wonga we need a reality check peeps everyone is bangin on about these world class stars that we are suposedly gonna sign an its not gonna happen this season KK knows this an thats why he is trying to sign players like downing an adam. if they was that highly thought of like carroll was the money would of been paid by now once we get in the champions league again , then an only then will we attract the stars we really want :)

Was just thinking about this Aguero fella. I sometimes wonder what's more ridiculous; him demanding astronomical wages or clubs labouring over "packages" to satisfy those demands.

I mean, what's this bloke done to warrant such a payday?
How many individual awards has he won in La liga?
How many regular top 3 or 4 finishes has he helped Atletico to?

How many trophies has he helped Atletico to?
How regularly does he feature for Argentina?
What are his international achievements at senior?

No, no, no This is a joke; Sergio Aguero is a joke.
I'm also baffled as to how the bloody hell Atletico are able to pay him that much, especially when you consider that they are in the red financially.
Unbelievable.

How are they doing it?

This Charlie Adam saga has gone long enough. I reckon we should pull out and go for someone else. Blackpool are taking the p-ss royal I think we have to accept we may fail on some signings. Joe Cole deffo to spurs please. I'm on the fence with Aqualani - maybe he should be given a chance? After all he was injured when he came and has had a good season on loan and the only issue was over wages from what I read/hear etc. I agree with signing younger players but we will need some older heads. Remember Gary McAllister?

LFC have agreed to a friendly with Valencia because we are interested in 2 of their players including Mata (the other Banega). If LFC bid for any of these players and Valencia play hardball on a fee, LFC will threaten to pull the plug on the friendly...

... the assumption is that we have already agreed a fee with Valencia for a player, hence the friendly. This is incorrect. No fee for any player has been agreed.

Whether you remember or not a few weeks ago i posed about Luis Suarez's Barcelona ambition to play for them one day
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has said he would be unable to turn down the chance to play for European champions Barcelona should they come calling.

Suarez only joined Liverpool in a £22 million deal from Ajax in January but admits he "dreams" of playing for the all-conquering Spanish giants.

His agent, Pere Guardiola, is the brother of Barca coach Pep Guardiola, but the Uruguay international says this has no bearing on his goal.

"Before meeting Pere Guardiola, my current agent, I had this desire, this dream of a chance to play for that team [Barcelona], " Suarez is quoted as saying in Spanish sports weekly Don Balon.

"Obviously he [Pere] is a person related to Barcelona by his brother, but work situations are totally different relationships. If Guardiola wanted me, he would want me no matter who represents me."

Suarez came off the bench to score on his Liverpool debut at Anfield and quickly became a fans' favourite when he contributed to all three of his team's goals in a 3-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester United.

Hi, I'm a youth player at Pau F.C, and used to play with a goalkeeper who used to be in the Caen youth team. He told me of M'baye Niang and told me what an incredible player he was, due to him being in his team at Caen before. i'm not saying he will sign for us, but I would be delighted to see him sign, because he was an outstanding player at youth level, scoring for fun and humiliating other players.

Kenny Dalglish has insisted Liverpool will continue conducting their transfer business in the appropriate manner and will not publicly chase players.

There was expected to be movement in and out of Anfield this summer as Dalglish puts his plans in place for what the club hope will be a more successful 2011/12 campaign.

The Reds have been linked with a large number of players since the end of last season but, apart from signing midfielder Jordan Henderson, have so far been quiet in the market.

Dalglish, though, has played down suggestions that he should be worried about not bringing in many reinforcements during the early part of the summer.

"Pre-season has not started. We don't begin until Monday, but obviously transfers are part of football. You get people moving in and moving out, " Dalglish told Sky Sports News after receiving an honorary degree from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.

"We are not going to speculate on any players we have or any players anyone else has. There has been plenty of talk in the newspapers and if you read them and believed them, we'd have a squad of about 300 next year.

be aware comolli couldnt scratch his apse if he never had to hands, useless at tottenham. even jol came out in press and said he was s**t, yet all and sundry pinning our transfer targets on his negoiating skills or lack of, weve spent 16 million on an inadequate midfieler henderson but are prepared to of load mierelles for 13, every target were linked with , weve failed to get because of his crap negotianing skills, so mates be very aware

Eds, ...A few rumours going around regarding interest in Diego. Watched a few clips of him on Youtube, which to be honest can make anyone look good. Do you know much about him?

Keep up the good work YNWA {Ed009's Note - he is an incredibly talented player with a real reputation for trouble making. He was brilliant at Bremen, before being so-so at Juventus, and causing trouble at a Wolfsburg team who have a dire leader in Magath.}

An under 23yr old left back, striker and winger forward that are better than what we already have in the starting 11 would cost BIG money so either FSG will spend the money and get these players in that will improve the starting 11 and make us top four contenders OR they will pay mediocre money for young players with big potential but not starting 11 material (a la Henderson or those of even lesser ability) and we will finish 5th at best. I hope they buy a mixture of both, but we shall see

i have a very unreliable source who over the past one month has said we will surely sign Young, Clichy, Doni, Wickham and Payet which have all turned out to be wrong.
But the good sign is he just now told me that Mata has no chances of joining us. so going by his reputation mata is surely coming.

Please for the love of God stop going on about Sergio BLOODY Aguero He's not going to be signed as the priority is English talent and the cost would seriously hamper other transfer possibilites.

There is a lot of talk about smokescreens on this site lately.The only smokescreen is we are doing it the liverpool way, keeping things under wraps.The truth is there is nothing to keep under wraps.The eds have no info because there is no info.We made a big mistake appointing commoli.If arsenal and spurs got rid of him what were we thinking taking him on.Hopefully dalglishs skill as a coach will see us finish in the top four this season.

can i just say to liverpool fans be pacient with signings, there are already three 90 % complete which includes adam, mata and downing, also siging will be lucas from sao paulo, jose enrique, holliett from blackburn and doni from roma, also aguero wont be coming to liverpool we feel suarez and carrol will be a great partnership, also expect another backup striker to come in, this will be either roux or real mallorca stekier webo if we cant get in jose enrique as there is also compition for him from barce and juventus, we are looking at either chivu from inter or former liverpool players riise, hyypia will come in to the coaching staff and will teach skrtel to head forward hahahahahahaha cheers ty789

Ed I heard a rumour that we had a mole in the camp leaking info. Do you think this mole was Sammy Lee and he got found out and got the bullet? {Ed009's Note - I don't think he got the bullet, I think they put an earthworm filled mole trap on Anfield pitch and he fell right for it, more likely.}

Eds, who are in our shortlists for left back? Why our transfer targets slipped one by one to the hands of rivals?(Marveaux, Jones, Young, Wickham, Monreal, Criscito, Clichy, Enrique, Gervinho and possibly Mata?) {Ed009's Note - I have just answered the left back question in length, and my arm would fall off if I attempted it again, so just check rumours and I'd be grateful. I think that with regards to 'lost targets', it is more likely they were never real targets at all. As an aside, Mata's chance of signing is no less than ever.}

Hi Ed's

Before the end of the season both KK and DC said that we should all prepare for a 'Busy Summer' and even Pepe Reina said that after his talk with them but so far we have only one transfer completed.

My questions are:

1. What for you would define as sucsessful 'Busy Summer' ?
2. With the money that Chelsea and Man City have to spend and the fact that we cannot offer European football next season can we still attract the 'Big name' established players?

Markiemagoo72 {Ed002's Note - A successful summer will be an improved squad. At present Liverpool will not be signing Neymar, Sanchez, Ganso, Lucas and the like.}

G'day Ed's and all my fellow Liverpool supporting legends.

I have been reading this site pretty much on a daily basis for the last 5 years, this is the first time I have ever sent anything in.
I have been happy in the past to let the 'deluded' fans have thier ridiculous opinions without comment. I have also read the more viable rumours and opinions which have warmed my heart and given me great hope for the future.
It is only now (maybe cause I am a little drunk) that I feel like I want to input something of my own.
My input involves no rumours, as basically, whilst I do care who we sign and who we are rid of, it really is none of my business and no matter who they are they will get my full 100% support as this to me is what being a fan of this magnificent club is all about. I get up at ungodly hours of the morning to watch us play. Every game, without fail. I sat up to the early hours of the morning reading this site when the court case was on to get rid of those leeches H&G. I bawled my eyes out when we were finally rid of them. My missus woke up and came out and wondered why I couldn't just wait until I got to work the next morning to find out the news, let alone be sitting there crying my eyes out But that's OK, she doesn't understand. I know you guys understand. I have 4 tattoos, a southern cross cause I love my country, my kids names cause I love my kids, and a Liverbird and "You'll Never Walk Alone" cause this club is right up there with my kids and my country as the things I love and care for most in this world. I see a guy walking down the street wearing a Liverpool shirt and I will stop and hug the guy and he knows why, cause he also understands.
So all I want to say is, my fellow Reds, please support our club through whatever may be thrown at us, please support our manager and backroom staff, whoever they may be, and please support our players no matter who they are, because they, like you and me, are Liverpool through and through and by pullng on that mighty Red shirt they have earnt and deserve our respect and admiration and they, like you an me, will Never Walk Alone.
Thank you for your time. I love you all. YNWA.

Can we stop using the term 'deadwood' please ?
I like a laugh and banter as much as anyone on here, but for some reason this term just really gets me.
They're players the club wants to sell. Call them sh**e, useless, or whatever as this could be an opinion of their perceived abilities.
But not deadwood. That's just wrong.

Got to post this eds it's well funny

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani was ejected form the club's training ground after security did not know who he was.
The 26-year-old, who recently declared his happiness at returning to Merseyside, was arrested for trespassing at Melwood.
The Italy international was ordered to return early to pre-season by boss Kenny Dalglish but was forced to leave the premises when security guards mistook him for an intruder, according to the Monday Supplement.
The security guards forcibly ejected Aquilani who later filed a complaint with the club.
But he has accepted the security guards made an innocent mistake and the good news for Liverpool fans is that he has pledged to see out the remaining three years of his contract.
"We saw this long haired fella kicking a ball around and couldn't understand what he was trying to do, " Melwood security guard Steve Hill said.
"He kept taking shots from the edge of the area but the ball was flying all over the place, we presumed he was a local drunk and decided to throw him out before he smashed any of the windows"
"We asked him nicely to leave but he refused and said that he was a £20 million Liverpool player This cracked us both up but we admired his cheek and asked him to prove it".
The Italian then challenged both security guards to prevent him scoring a spot kick.
"After 76 failed attempts we told him enough was enough, we both had homes to go to and we could have been there all night, I'm not being funny but if he's a footballer he did a really good job at hiding it."
Clearly an amusing, comical and irreverent piece of nonsense, and is in no way true but good for a Friday afternoon chuckle

hey ed and fellow pool fans, was just on youtube yesterday i know a bad source but seen a few videos of lauri dalle valle, scored a few goals on loan from fuhlam
Theres also a video of him doing freestyle and its unrealThat has to be one of the worst bits of business from us in a long time, he could have been our 4th striker this year as he is 19 now, anyway no rumour just said id tell ye about it
TQ

--------------------------------------------------

Ahh Della-Valle, good striker in my opinion Not a great amount of pace but he can score alot of goals. I was gutted he went, and another player i thought would make it in the Liverpool team was Christopher Buchtman, he will be a very very good player. We let them go far too early and its a shame really but... I guess on the plus side, its now finally great to see our academy players and reserve players getting more noticed. It's been since Rodolfo took charge of them and its finally good too see they are being developed correctly.

Too the future

now that all players from abroad can be bought i expect to here more and more ridiculous rumours of forgien players arriving to liverpool... as of the mata situation, as much as i would like him at liverpool and fits the bill in which liverpool are after.. i see us having no chance at signing the player, firstly he is happy to stay at valencia and secondly i imagine teams like barcelona and chelsea would be his first choice espcially with his raw talent.I personally would like to see two class wingers(left and right) witch we have been missing for years and sould have resolved a few years ago when we possible had the best spine to a team in the world

some folk on here are grumpy idiots. Why grumble because we have to sell before we buy, i think that route makes sense. Imagine if we bought our targets first then looked to sell off the so called dead wood. The buying clubs would offer well below the asking price as they'd know we are no position to decline. Clear out 2 or 3 players at a time and then bring one or two in i say. We do have a huge squad-it's just unfortunately not one of the best out there.

Hi Guys,

Dont slate me on this just want to know honest liverpool fans opinions. FSG have stated our transfer policy and to me it seems very similar to Arsenals. I totaly understand this policy but i am worried that we will end up the same as Arsenal, a top 4 club but lacking the cutting edge to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and city. your opinions please guys.

01 Jul 2011 14:05:07
Well the international transfer window has opened and it will be interesting to see who Liverpool can get in. One thing concerns me is that while I agree with Fenways transfer policy I think it will be very difficult to get the players we want, and certainly not in time for pre-season. This transfer window is very competitive with a lot of money awash from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, man City, Man U, Spurs and even Arsenal. Liverpool's haggling policy will always be vulnerable to gazumping from other clubs. For this reason despite the expectations at the satrt of the summer of getting 5-6 players I think we will be lucky to get 3 (incl. Jordan henderson).

01 Jul 2011 13:58:37
Ed

Is there any truth to the whole wage bill story?

From what I understand is that there is no problem with us signing players but we need to make sure that we are in line with FFP rules if we had to qualify for Europe next season. Clubs who do not fall in line with FFP will be refused entry into the Europa and CL 2012/2013. If we sign lets say another 4-5 players and struggle to get rid of players on large wages who do not feature in the clubs plans then we end up with a wage bill that exceeds the limits and with no revenue this season from euro matches will make things even more difficult to balance the books should we decide to add to the squad without selling any players.

Ed, please could you give your thoughts on the above {Ed002's Note - You have been misled. It will be three years before the FFP come in in anger. We are now in the first of three years where accounts will be considered. I would not worry about it this season.}

Loving the Sheared rumour, not ridiculous when you think about his relationship with KK at Blackburn and Toon connections. But wouldn't want to lose the impact which Clark has undoubtedly made since he started, which has definitely improved moral and enjoyment of training lacking under Woy Clark def an unsung hero over the success in the second half of the season. Still in the right position Shearer would be good addition but maybe his heart still lies in Newcastle (maybe post Mike Ashley).

01 Jul 2011 13:46:45
Everyone is worrying too much.... The transfer window and season start are a while away still...

As for transfer kitty etc. I trust FSG and KK will make the right decisions. With regards to reducing the wage bill, this can be remedied with a few sales and loans if need be. Even though Poulsen, Cole, Jovanovic etc. didn't make an impact there are still lots of clubs in the Premiership and across Europe who would love to sign these players. We mustn't forget that in reality when FSG purchased LFC they got it at a significantly knocked down price (hahaha, up yours Hicks and Gillett), they are well aware of this and as business men, which they are, I suspect there is a significant transfer kitty available, but only for the right players. I for one do not want a Man City where there are class players unhappy who do not get a game, ot where rotation is required to keep everyone happy.

Man City and Chelsea were outdone by Man Utd last season who didn't have the funds or squad depth (as much as it pains me to say it). As we know, going on a spending spree doesn't buy success (hey Roman). It's the right players in the right club.

Keep faith in KK and FSG and let's judge in 10 and a half months time, and I am sure the furture is bright.

Is there any truth that there is a mini upheaval in Anfield? Is there a problem with the transfer policy implemented? Was Sammy Lee a scapegoat? All was fine when Henderson was signed, and more signing were lined up but all of a sudden 'supposed' target are being signed up by other clubs and there seem to be shift towards a ' must sell to buy' philosophy Things are not looking good from the outside as we seem to be struggling to sign Adam
Hope I'm wrong, Eds. Please please reply {Ed009's Note - Sammy Lee has arguably long been the weak link in the back room staff and Clarke is far better at their job. The sell to buy thing is nonsense. There is money to spend and the only reason people are making this assumption is because we have missed our targets. Maybe they were not our targets at all.}

Its started crack me up reading some of these posts now. I remember when Clichy was first linked, some fans were saying he cant defend, rarely seems to get to the byline to put a cross in. physically weak, mentally weaker, couldn't tackle a plate of fish and chips and so on. As soon City might sign him, its well their goes another target, whats going on boo hoo f***in hoo. It was Clichey who also said when the Arab's took over that spending lots money doesn't isn't a recipe for success. He plays like he talks, f***in s**te.And i for one am glad he's gone to City, so we can hit another diagonal ball over the left back area for another goal or 2 from Big Andy. Then we get someone dynamic like Juan Vargas or someone of his quality instead. Jonson6

Liverpool New Stadium Latest

From the moment FSG took over Liverpool, one of the first questions they had to address was the new stadium. When the cowboys took over, they promised us a new stadium but we all know how that went. FSG have not come out yet and made a commitment about the new stadium as they are still taking their time to analyse if it is better for the club to build a new stadium or to just redevelop Anfied.

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre has explained what the latest situation is.

Nobody is going to force ourselves or the owners to make a decision until we know what s right for the club, because that was what went wrong before

Some people won t like that it takes time. That s unfortunate but it s the way we do it.At least once a week someone will ask me what is happening with the stadium and my answer is we don t know .

The reason we don t know is there are still two solutions.

They are a new stadium in Stanley Park or a refurbished Anfield that obviously comes with all sorts of issues and there are a million questions to answer.

The new stadium in the park comes down to the economics; how do we pay it back? It needs a big naming partner.

Until you get the answer to those questions it would be wrong and unprofessional for us to make a statement about what we are doing.

At the end of the day whether we move to a new stadium or stay at Anfield, it is going to boil down to an issue over money. It would be great if we could move to a new stadium which seats 60,000 plus fans but developing such a new stadium would require a lot of money. Ayre touched on the issue of naming rights and that is going to play a major role if we decide to get a new stadium. There will be no way we would be able to build a new stadium without selling the naming rights which means that will be the end of Anfield.

All this talk about the king is back.Its all bulls**t.We can blame parry, gillette, hicks, souness, evans etc but the truth is its dalglish's fault.He walked out and the club never recovered after that.Its all his fault whiskey nose and the mancs got a run on us.So to all the people on this site praising the seconding coming you all have very short memorys.The reason players will not come here is because the fans will always take dalglishs side even when he is in the wrong.While i will always support liverpool i will never forgive dalglish for ruining the club.'tom' {Ed001's Note - you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.}
------------------------------------------------

Just to prove that you don't anything Tom, it was actually Souness that dragged us down. Yes Dalglish walked out but he left behind still a very good team. Souness tried to change too much too quickly with mediocre players, Mark Walters for example. No-one has done any better since.
Until now, I had my doubts about KK coming back as I thought he had been out of the game too long, but the change around the club and the pass and move football we have been playing, takes me back to when we were formidable. Dalglish has done more in the short space of time he has been here, than all the other years before. And please don't go back to the victory in Instanbul, real, true fans will understand my point.

liverpool will back out of adam deal if not agreed in next 48 hours
they have shown an interest in essien 4 a replacement this is wat my sources tell me
also mata deal near completed as liverpool want it to get completed before he signs 4 some1 else
we will sell cole to tottenham and jova and aqua to a european club prob spain or italy
also pacheco wants to go to spain on loan and mereles to spain too
----------------------------------------

I think Essien is very unlikely. Chelsea rejected Real's bid for him, whilst Essien's agent said there is now way he would be leaving the club.

I am hopeful Mata will sign, but has there been anything said after he said he wanted to stay with Juve?

Bodey {Ed001's Note - apart from Valencia getting upset because they thought he played for them?}

Essien is a non-starter, like a lot of other so called rumours. JWH has said all signings are age dependant.

i dont have any rumours but i do have a little statment. been a die hard lfc fan all my life and been keepin an eye on our suspected transfers of late. i think that no matter who we sign in the next few weeks that if we can start this season like we finished last season we will be doin very well.we have been linked with all sorts of players but at the end of the day its up to them if they want to join the revoloution.id like to see cole jovanovic and poulsen move on and ngo too.as far as in coming players go id like to see fresh names new talent and players that kenny can groom in to true red lfc players that are proud of the jersey they wear and the history of the team they play for .thats wat lfc is all about when we were on top of the league years ago its was about the club and the players now all you hear about is money , buy him do this do that . kenny was the heart of liverpool for a long time and hes bringing that tradition back with him now. this season is the start of a long road for liverpool fc and i dont want to miss a bit of it. our great team wouldnt be wat it is today without us (fans) and we need to support our team ( managers staff players) the way we used to and not doubt the ways in which they do business.

lfc till i die ............... :)

Hi Ed,
I was just wondering , Now that Sammy lee has departed from his post , I was hoping would there be a chance to get Sami Hypia back as a first team coach. I believe there was an interest in giving Sami a coaching role at the club when he left LFC.But now since Big Finn has retired, Will Kenny go for him ? What are thoughts on this ? Please post.Great Addictive site.

Really appreciate the amount of work put in by all the ED's to make this site work throughout the day.
Cheers
Neo {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware he already has a job and is not willing to walk away from it just yet. He would love to come back one day though, he makes no secret of that.}

Lille striker Gervinho claims he is on the verge of sealing his move to Arsenal.

The Ivory Coast international has been one of Arsene Wenger's top transfer targets this summer and it appears he is set to land his man.

thats another target missed why cant we move more swiftly for players

Ed why won't FSG fork out 9m for Charlie Adam even though they spent 16-20m on Henderson ? cheers, {Ed001's Note - they will, the problem is getting Oyston to accept an offer, not in paying it.}

Jose Angel, Roma? Is it true, ed?
Must have passed me by if true. Lol
Thought he was cast-iron to Barca. Ah, well

Govan Sami {Ed001's Note - Roma jumped in and met the asking price, so long as they agree personal terms he will be there next season. I was hoping we would nip in, Barca never seemed as likely to move for him as the media speculated.}

If we are in for Tom Cairney i will be a happy lfc fan. Class player who can spot a pass and has a good eye for a goal. I have seen him play a few times for the tigers and defo one to watch for the future. BUY BUY BUY

Do people think the transfer window is open 24 hours or something? People panicking today already, there are 8 weeks folks not 24 hours, don't start fixating on the Sky Sports countdown clock just yet

Ed's,

Quick question for you

What's with the Manc advertisements on the Liverpool pages?

IKK+DCWT {Ed001's Note - because people keep talking about them on this site and Google use the content on the page to decide what ads they show. If people stop bitching about what they are doing in the transfer market, then the ads would change.}

The deadwood. There are fans that appear to have gotten their knickers in a twist and believe we can no longer buy without getting rid first. Whilst it is true we need to lower the wage bill substantially, this is a good opportunity to remind everyone why we need to do this.

Although H&G are now gone, the effects of their spectacular mismanagement is still being felt and will continue to be felt for several years yet. We must not lose sight of this fact. Just because the great rock that those cowboys dropped in our water has disappeared the ripples are still smashing into us.

Only yesterday Ian Ayre stated that if H&G had followed through their promise for the infamous spade in the ground in 60 days pledge we could be starting this season in a new ground. Yet more damaging was the chaos created by the wage structure. Whether Purslow was implicit in this policy is open to debate.

You may recall that in the space of several months around March 09, virtually every single yellow ticker tape banner that went across Spurs Sports News concerned an extension to contracts for staff and players alike. Torres, Benitez, Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Gerrard, Ngog, Kuyt and on and on it went.

On the outside to us this looked like champion business for the club, securing our assets but the sleight of hand performed by those responsible in pulling that stunt was as well performed as it was taken in by everyone. In fact I would go as far as to say, it made a case that the club were in far safer hands at the death than we truly were. We add into the mix the undisclosed clauses, the add on's and the only route we could get players to sign on was by offering stupid wages.

It is that last bit that FSG are trying to deal with. There can be no criticism of the club at this present moment in time. It is a very difficult balance to try and achieve. Yes we are all aware of the need to improve the quality in the squad but we need to drop the wage bill which at the end of 09/10 season stood at £114M and you then need to add Cole, Jovanovic, Poulsen, Meireles, Konchesky, Jones to that picture.

We simply cannot afford to post financial accounts that show the club is not running well and is not as efficient as it should be. This will deter potential sponsors and limit much needed future income revenues. So we just cannot buy, buy, buy and hope that the last bit of the window we offload the deadwood.

Already we have seen the problems we face with our first attempt at offloading deadwood. David Ngog. He was given a contract extension and uplift in wages to the level that his ability did not justify. Now the club has to take a hit on the amount we will let the player leave just to get a club interested. This has a knock on effect with future potential transfer targets. But then if the player is not prepared to take a massive drop in wages we hit a snag.

Ngog is currently on upwards of £45,000 per week. Sunderland have offered in the region of £25,000 from reports I have seen, Ngog, or his representatives, are not prepared to drop that much. And here is the crux. He isn't good enough to be paid that amount of money. Sunderland know it, we know it and Ngog's agent knows it. So we have an impasse.

Now the same scenario will occur with Poulsen, Konchesky, El Zhar, Deggen, Insua, Jovanovic, Aquilani et al. There's bound to be more filth on the books that I cannot bring myself to recall. Ask yourself this question. We've seen these players' week in and week out, unfortunately, but would you pay the astronomical wages they command in relation to their abilities?

All this has to be achieved within the club's income streams. No mean feat. We haven't a sugar daddy. And the other big issue which clots our revenues, where do we find the money to fund either redevelopment or a new stadium without going into leveraged loan land?

So please think at the issues that face FSG which H&G have left the club in because although they are gone, their stink is still all around the place. It's going to take a few years to fumigate. Give FSG the patience and respect to do so because they will I am confident they will do that.

The frustrations of the fans because of the lack of investment in recent years is one of the reasons behind this current surge of impatience, but we must ensure we do not lose sight that we are recovering and not yet fully recovered.

why are we trying to sign downing and adam?
we have a midfield three of stevie lucas and henderson with meireles aquilani spearing and shelvey as backup we need a left back and a wing forward mata must be a priority if not n'zogbia who is more attacking and skillfull than downing and would be available for cheaper a front three of
mata/nzogbia carrol suarez
henderson gerrard
lucas
enrique agger carra johnson
reina
in my opinion this team is capable of challenging for trophies what do you think?

01 Jul 2011 11:26:16
liverpool will back out of adam deal if not agreed in next 48 hours
they have shown an interest in essien 4 a replacement this is wat my sources tell me
also mata deal near completed as liverpool want it to get completed before he signs 4 some1 else
we will sell cole to tottenham and jova and aqua to a european club prob spain or italy
also pacheco wants to go to spain on loan and mereles to spain too
----------------------------------------

I think Essien is very unlikely. Chelsea rejected Real's bid for him, whilst Essien's agent said there is now way he would be leaving the club.

I am hopeful Mata will sign, but has there been anything said after he said he wanted to stay with Juve?

I wish people would stop banging on about all these players we've missed out on. We've missed out on nothing

Jones, Young, Wickam and Marveaux are all players we were persuing, all 4 players would have been thoroughly researched by our Manager and Scouts and then had a value placed upon them as to what they would be worth.

If other clubs come in and offer more money or higher salaries, then we are right to walk away from the deal, we wont be held to ramsom.

If any of you were sourcing an item on ebay and you found something you wished to bid on you would set a value on this item as to what it was worth to you. Would you then pay more than you planned to on the same item? I doubt it very much. You would walk away from the deal and then source another item.

This is no different to what Liverpool FC are doing, sourcing their targets, setting a price (fee + wages), and sticking to their guns. If a deal does not materialise then they will move on to another target (and i'm sure they've got a considerable list of targets to choose from).

I don't think selling the deadwood is a factor in purchasing our targets although I do think it is imperitive we offload some of the high paid squad players. The last thing we want is to bulk the sqaud out with over paid egos. I think Citeh are going to have really problems in the coming years, their squad will be full of very high earners and they will struggle to offload those players to other clubs unwilling to match their salaries.

We must trust in the club, they have put a plan together and they will follow it through.

I admit I'm eager for us to sign more players but we certainly don't need a full overhaul of the squad. I will be happy with 2 or 3 more incoming players plus 5 or 6 outgoing

There are still 2 months of this transfer window yet so there's still no need to panic.

If come September there are no more signings, then so be it, it just means our targets ended up being overpriced or greedy, and I don't think we need that

Just read on Paul Tomkins twitter page that Nolan Roux has been offered a 2 year contract extension by brest president. reported in the french press. This apparently to ward off interest from marseille and he is hopeful the player will stay at brest. Hardly earth shattering I know but thought I would share what I read. Would this guy fall into the category of 'Oh no another target missed?' The desperation in an 11 hour old international transfer window is frigthening

If any of the whingers actually took some time to sit down and look at things, they'd see that things are just about to get better for LFC. Take the so-called missed targets for example.

If Clichy signs for City and Enrique replaces him at Arsenal, that likely means we'll be looking abroad, at far better options.
We are understood to have interest in/been watching Aly Cissokho, Juan Vargas and Jose Angel. All three are better players than Clichy and Enrique.

City's imminent swoop for Clichy would immediately end their interest in Cissokho. With no confirmed interest in the player from elsewhere, we'd have a very good chance of getting the player if we're any determined to sign him.

Vargas as I understand it at the moment isn't attracting any interes from what we'd consider to be formidable rivals. He'd be open to the move, so if we want him and are prepared to reach an agreement with his club, he'll come.

Angel is the least likely of the two, imo. Barca are looking for a left back and are very interested in the player, and so is him. Perhaps we could move to swiftly steal a march on the Catalans, but I won't be holding my breath.

The point basically is that, there a tons of options, very good options out there. Kenny and Damien are looking for the right player (ability, age, price etc) and will pay the right price for him.

For an instance, it's possible that KD&DC consider Cissokho at £18m a better deal than Enrique at £9/10m, or Clichy at £7m. The same consideration likely went in in the Wickham issue.

Though we DID have an interest in Clichy, Enrique and young Wickham, our not signing them has actually strengthened my faith in Kenny and Damien.

What this shows is that a) KD&DC want the best option, not the first available one, b) we have a big pool of options where we looking to find the best one, c) we are calm and confident about getting that best option, and d) we won't be rushing into anything, buying just for the sake of buying. There's a clear blueprint, a modus operandi.

As the honourable supremo John Henry has been at pains to stress, we are keen to avoid the short-term, hasty decisions which have ravaged the club so dearly in the past.

I'm very enarmoured with the quiet, thoughtful and prudent manner we've proceeded to do our business. The way things ought to be done.

With one or two exceptions, I don't know for sure who's on KD&DC's hit list, but I'm more than sure that they'll be quality. As the boss himself has often stated.

Only thing that ticks me off are those gullible fans who invariably get suckered into the media drivel and even use whatever trash is reported there as a stick to beat Kenny, Damien and the owners.

It's not those gentlmen's fault that Sky, Guardian and all their other weasel friends link the club with every player under the son. John (if mes remembers correctlys) especially urged fans to take with a pinch of salt all the media-llion rumours/stories.

Dalglish stated for all and sundry to know that LFC WILL DO its job the way it ought to be done: behind closed. They're not hiding behind them closed, nay. They ARE WORKING and working VERY HARD, and WHEN there's SOMETHING to announce, they'll do so.

So why can't some of our fans just let them get on with their jobs without getting on their backs and giving them grief? Why's it so difficult for some to read a media report pertaining to a (supposed) LFC target without taking it at face value and working themselves into a frenzy about. Good Fowler

Ed, please remind me, when do we begin our preseason?

Govan Sami {Ed001's Note - back in training Monday.}

I work for SureStart who have offices in the new Bloomfield road development and this is the truth behind the delay in Charlie Adam's signing at Liverpool. Personal terms have been agreed, duration of the contract, image rights, bonuses etc, the only stumbling block is the transfer fee. Once this is sorted he will have his medical.

Oyston wants as much as he can get as only a small percentage of the actual fee will go to Blackpool. Rangers are entitled to a 25% cut, Holloway himself is entitled to £1m (some agreement he had with the chairman), Belakon (The latvian shareholder at Blackpool) is wanting his £500k investment back with interest as he funded the transfer from his own pocket. Charlie Adam himself is entitled to £750k from any deal. So basically if a deal is agreed for £8m as rumoured, Blackpool Football Club will only stand to bank around £3m and this is why Oyston is holing out for as much as possible.

I'm sure something will be finalised soon.

All this talk about the king is back.Its all bulls**t.We can blame parry, gillette, hicks, souness, evans etc but the truth is its dalglish's fault.He walked out and the club never recovered after that.Its all his fault whiskey nose and the mancs got a run on us.So to all the people on this site praising the seconding coming you all have very short memorys.The reason players will not come here is because the fans will always take dalglishs side even when he is in the wrong.While i will always support liverpool i will never forgive dalglish for ruining the club.'tom' {Ed001's Note - you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.}

Hi Eds - what are your thoughts on this subject - looking at the transfer market so far it seems that we have missed out or potentially missed out on some targets as we will not increase out offers. Reading between the lines possibly but is this due to the fact that we have not off loaded some of the high paid dross that are currently still bleeding the club of money and until they are removed from the squad then we will be reduced to going after second and third choice targets of lesser quality possibly putting us in a similar situation in the next few transfer windows. i dont have a problem of having to sell before you buy because its just common sense but i think the signing of Henderson so early in the window might have raised our expectations slightly
Any thoughts thanks Jones {Ed001's Note - no, it is about priorities, you only overspend on priority positions and only for the right player. Clichy was only of interest as a cheap stopgap until Robinson and Smith are ready. We don't want to give him huge wages and pay a big fee for him, it makes no sense.}

01 Jul 2011 10:43:06
I might be way off base here but i think that fact the club haven't chased up on Jose Enrique or Gael Clichy that must mean they have someone else in mind. Fingers crossed Aly Cissokho but that may just be fantasy football.

Also on a none football matter, hopping Wladimir Klitschko can do the business tomorrow and win me some money.

Is it just me that thinks this...

Liverpools owners have gone on record saying that any signings over a certain age should not even be rumoured about, as the club will not be looking at them. This says to me that we are looking for real youth talents, not 26+ year old players who are still begging to play in europe and win the title. The way im seeing and perceiving the FSG 'way of doing things' is that we will be looking at signing players from international U21 level, U20's and U19's, with the possibility of 2 or 3 more mature players (im talking 23, 24, 25) coming into the side to make us more competitive over the next 2 years. The signings of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez support this theory, aswell as the large roles played by the younger players last season, such as Jonjo Shelvey (who in my opinion could turn out to be one of the best signings Liverpool FC ever made, cheers Rafa), Jay Spearing, Flanno and Robinson. Alongside this, I also believe there will be more focus on the development of our home grown academy starletts, such as Raheem Sterling and Adam Morgan to ensure they progress into the kind of players they have the potential of becoming.

I dont think FSG or Kenny are looking to win the title next year, there looking for a Champions League finish, to bring higher revenue and income to the club, to attract more of the brightest FUTURE stars.

It wouldn't surprise me if most of the dealings are done at academy level, or the young professional level, e.g Jordan Henderson and Tom Cairney. I personally dont think we will see downing arrive at the club, even though I think he would be a great signing (pass completion success rate, dynamic crossing style, intelligent passing play etc.. etc...). I think the newspapers have found an inch, and taken a mile where this story is concerned. Charlie Adam as we all know is a real possibility but I do not expect any ageing European Internationals or players looking to Kick-Start their career again like Diego arriving at anfield over this summer. That includes Xabi Alonso.

I may be wrong, and if I am im sure we'll all have a good chuckle at my expense. However, this is how I have personally perceived the statements from Kenny, FSG and Damien Comolli. Would appreciate peoples feedback and their own opinions, especially you ED's if you fancy.

JC {Ed001's Note - most of our signings will be young, but there is still a need to fill gaps with players to cover until youth is ready. Left wing is one of those gaps, which is why there is interest in Downing, but only at the right price.}

Dear Reds
Please rather then reacting to biased english media stories we should use our head.
Now some papers are reporting that we can't spend because we need to sell first.according to papers we missed on cornor bec. Our wage bill is loaded.now someone need to analise that we actually made bid for young and jones but they chose man u that means transfer funds in excess of 30m and wages of over 100 thouand per month so let's ask our self when we have funds for young and jones why we won't spend on cornor unless we did not value him that much.
I ask my fellow reds we should not get into this media propogenda.this is same media who believe harry redknapp is world class manager and roy was unlucky.wher as we all know the truth.
For me even if we let's assume reds fail to sign anyone I for one still cheer my team and till last breath be a red.
Reds rule.

This is not a rumour, but rather a fact. KK knows what he's doing. If anyone has doubts, please read his book "My Liverpool Home" before questioning the mngt team. With the swap meet now in full gear, I expect the level of frustration will increase as many of the "targets" sign deals. No matter how many stars the rivals bring on board, on the pitch they can only field 11. And if there isn't unity, proper leadership and management, they will not succeed. We may or may not land the speedy, skilled, or sexy names... but LFC will not fall short on any other front. The torch has been lit, so just relax and enjoy the ride It will be amazing whomever we are starting, whether they have adidas gear or not- as long we continue in the right direction. Is it just me or does anyone else think adam isn't worth this amount of hassle? Were spending literally weeks negotiating this transfer like he is lionel messi and the most important transfer of the decade. I say stop messing about with this transfer and let oysten keep adam and see how much he gets for him in a years time.

Also if adam really is desperate to play for lfc he will wait the year. Fed up of us being held to ransom, first newcastle with carroll now blackpool, we are liverpool, we don't get terms dictated to us. The more meek we are in the market the more teams will take advantage of it.

There has been a lot of speculation for months about which wingers we will sign. I believe that we will only sign one winger.
A quick look at our clubs history reveals that the last time we played with two proper" wingers was in the mid sixties with Cally and Pedro
At that time almost all teams played with only one centre half. Once this changed to provide a back four, something had to give. I ur case, it was one winger.
Cally and Pedro were replaced by big and little bamber (Heighway and Hall). Fans complained that Heighway wasn't a proper winger because he came inside too often and joined in general midfield play and that Hall wasn't really a winger at all but a midfielder playing on the right.
Then along came Keegan ("Liverpool spend big for unknown Scunthorpe winger"). It turned out that he was half of the best strike duo we'd ever had, so he probably wasn't really a winger. Eventually he left and was replaced by Kenny. He wore the no 7 shirt and often lined up on the right at kick off but nobody ever imagined he was a winger.
During our best years from the mid 70's to the end of the 80's, we were by far the best team in England and probably in Europe. The right flank was mainly occupied by the following list of players.
Jimmy Case (Good at kicking wingers into the Kemlyn road stand but primarily a DM)
Terry Mac (about once a season)
Sammy Lee (Bulldog style centre mid)
Steve Nicol (Nominally a full back but actually played every outfield position)
Craig Johnston (Aussie midfielder/support striker/almost like a winger sometimes)
Steve Mcmahon (Combined the basic footballing skills of Case with the elegant understated on-field violence of Souness)
Ray Houghton (Energetic centre mid playing on the right)
There were also occasional cameos from David Fairclough (The original Supersub, a centre forward) and David Johnson (another centre forward).
During our best years under Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish we never employed an outright right winger. For most of this period we had either Heighway or Barnes as our left winger. The two most successful (in terms of trophies) wingers we've ever had.
Whoever we sign for the left wing this summer, don't expect to see a Lennon / Walcott clone running up and down the right touchline. We might well see Henderson, Kuyt and occasionally Gerrard or Johnson but no sprinters in a football kit.

morning eds. i do start to wonder if there is really any truth in this downing story. i dont have any inside info so to be honest i cant say i know if it is true or not. i for one would like to see us get him. he is the type of player that would be good under kk and the kind of player we need. someone that will just fit into the team. i know alot of people on here say that we should be getting likes of mata, hazard, aguero and yes i love to see them at lfc. but what i think people are forgetting is kk is trying to build is a soild back bone to the squad first and thats why they are trying to buy prem proven players first but this time at a younger age. alot of posts are saying why do we want the likes of adam and at the start i thought the same but the more i think about it i think he would be a good player to bring in and great for the squad. i would like to see aquilani given a go but we will just have to wait and see on that one. one player i would like to see at lfc is elia i think he would a great signig for us

What we need is 2 old fashioned wingers, left winger, right winger, goal hanger in the middle, tricky inside forward, two hard working half-backs, two full-backs that can kick a ball or a man the length of the pitch and a centre half that can head a ball or a man at least half the length of the pitch.
It's not Rocket Science is it football is a simple game.

Has Tom cairney actually signed for lfc? S.S.N haven't mentioned anything Just wondering if this means we've given up on Adam as we've been messed around? With Henderson and cairney coming in and aquilini returning we seem to be over the top with midfielders (central) rather than looking to solve problems such as lack of width Width has been a problem for probably 10years with the only slight reprieve being pennant and riera. I hope things would change this year but it isn't looking likely. With the exception of downing (who I'm not overly convinced about). What do eds think, are we likely to have some surprise? {Ed001's Note - yes, I do think the club are still actively pursuing width, they are just very good at keeping it quiet.}

I'm a huge lfc & also support Stockport my local team just wanna say hamman 1 of my heroes of the club has been linked with our vacant managers job I hope this is true coz if he brings his skills from the pitch to the dugout I'll be over the moon

With all this bulls**t that were missing out on targets and are on our asse money wise. Macca posted something that i thought would of calmed things down.That if we're so skint or whatever, all these f***in doom and gloom merchants would calm down, but alas its not to be. I coulda swore we put in at least a 20mil bid in for Jones and would of signed Young as well given the chance who would also have cost a few quid. The international window has been open for a few hour and the little bitches have come out of their holes to piss and moan i see. Never mind Eds, only 2 months of this left, good look. Hope none of you get carted to the nut house anytime soon. Reading a couple of post this morning i've just told my dogs to phone the nut house for me, get me a bed ready.First time i start pissing and moaning about lack of signing's and missing so called targets to, get the men in the white jackets straight away and section me till september. Good luck, you'll need it. Jonson6

John Henry reassuring Liverpool fans that dispite missing out on some transfer targets that they will be splurging money in the transfer Windsor . I bloody hope so I'm just praying they and KK and DC have some big surprises up their sleeves. Ed do you think there is going to one or two big surprises in store for us in through the transfer window? Try give a good straight answer , I know you find it hard to at times :-) addictive site by the way, I love it {Ed002's Note - It is impossible for me to know what would surprise you, so I can't answer that.}

Whats happening?

already, 0.6% of the international transfer window has gone, and we havent signed anyone.

Have KK and DC been in bed all night, instead of finalising deals?
Lol. Good luck today eds.

So it looks like Clichey will be heading to Man City. To be honest as much as we can trust in KK and DC I really think we should have finalised a deal for Clichey as he'd have been a much cheaper option than Baines or Enrique and is a proven left back. We set out like a house on fire by signing Henderson from Sunderland and I had a good feeling about the coming season and the new faces that'd be coming to the club. I'm truly tired of the Adam rumour now, Oysten is clearly and absolute pain and holding out for more money whenever we feel close to signing the player...and I wonder...is he really Liverpool class? Time to walk away LFC.

We have to ask ourselves...can we ship certain players on quickly to free up 30 million pounds in fees and wages. Yes we finished the season very well but that was mainly down to Kenny revitalising the club, the camaraderie and the morale within the group...the squad from last season simply isn't good enough to challenge for a top four finish this term. We need a top class centre half, a left back either one or two good wingers and a quality centre forward...not a back up to Caroll and Suraez...a signing that'll push both players throughout the season.

I feel our next signing is crucial...it'll indicate the clubs intentions for next season and years to come. Our history is phenomenal, but it is exactly that...history. We need to make statements in this window of our intentions of a new legacy and one which we can shout from the roof tops about.

I will only feel we've made progress with a top four finish this coming season and a bonus will be winning some silverwear to give the fans a day out and something to shout about and addtionally something to build on for the following season.

We are Liverpool Football Club - let's go back to going about our business that way.

Jonny Boy.

Dear Ed. The international window has been open for a whole 7 hours and 50 minutes now and yet there is still no sign of any world class talent being signed. I trust the King but no doubt he's lost it, Comolli is clueless, Henry has no money, we're going to get relegated and BLAH BLAH fu*cking BLAH.

Just thought I would post some of the first inane drivel of the international window to save the doom brigade the bother

International transfer window now opens. Looking forward to the gems that KK is gonna bring in, which I have faith he will. Most of which will be unexpected and unmentioned to date I suspect. We need to stop worrying about funds/wages etc. FSG and KK are shrewd, wages bills can be controlled by selling and loans, even tho j cole, poulson et al didn't have the best season last year there are still plenty of teams who would welcome and benefit from these players. As for the transfer kitty we need to remember that John Henry did a good piece of business and bought liverpool for much less than it is really worth so they do have the capital, but for the right players. I trust that to date the players we haven't followed through with were seen as not the right fit.

Comrades

I reported last night that Liverpool were showing interest in Blackpool's Central Defender Alex Baptiste. I am now in a position to clarify. Apparently, Blackpool keep moving the goal posts with regards to Charlie Adams wantiing more and more in the way of players and money. One of the options being considered is money and 3 (yes 3) loan players going to Blackpool and Adams and Baptiste coming to Anfield. The sum mentioned is 9M along with Wilson, Spearing and one other. This is one of several scenarios being negotiated by the clubs. (well it's not the clubs really, it's apparently Oyston who is being hard work)

Doesnt it make you sick, these footballers who demand pay raises because the £60,000 a week just isnt because the £60,000 a week just isnt enough anymore my god, i'd actually be happy to earn that in a year and just to clarify, i used the sum as an example... ive no idea how much nasri is on, but im guessin he's on enough to buy a guessin he's on enough to buy a house (in cash) after a months work. house (in cash) after a months work.

Be fair 50% of the reason football exists is because of footballers (the other 50 being us fans).

They generate millions and millions of pounds of revenue for their clubs and their wages don't even come to 50% of the running of most clubs. If they generate (through image and performance) 5million a year (for example) then surely they should be entitled to at least half? Or would you rather some fatcat chairman gets that money?

And before people argue that the price of football tickets and merchandise has increased due to wages you're wrong they increased due to national inflation and (the incorrect) view that the public has an increased disposable income.

You can call me, am a one of those who moans & be always negative But believe me LFC's all planned transfer's hes been dealt with a big blow. Jones, Young & Cornor were serious targets that we have missed out on & it is because the off-loading of players don't went on as planned. First Juve decided not to buy Aquilani, second high earning useless deadwood like Jovanovic, Ngog, Joe Cole, Poulsen & Konchesky has no intention of Leaving LFC & there are only a few interested teams for them and out of those there is almost none who can pay their sky high wages, Those money sukcers don't even want a pay cut.

JW Henry asked Kenny & Commoli to get rid of them but it is looking likely a difficult task for the club and will cost LFC lots of money. So don't expect much activity for this window anymore, maximum 2-3 players more coming in

YNWA JFT96

01 Jul 2011 07:20:58
With LFC seemingly being beaten to a couple of recent transfer targets, I think, in future King Kenny should let it slip to the media that he intends to go for a couple of "bogus" targets. Players whom he has absolutely no interest in but sneakly let's the press know that he is interested in. Then, with a bit of luck the likes of Fergie and Mancini might just buy a couple of overpriced duds It seems apparent that Fergie is determined to buy up any of Liverpool's targets - I think he is terrified that we are coming to get them

01 Jul 2011 07:15:09
Is anyone else completely sick of people moaning and twisting about 'missing out' on players, if Kenny thought they were good enough to sign them, he would of made more of an effort, which, from what I can see, with Jones, Young and Wickham; he didn't, so he doesn't think we need them. The international transfer window has been open for about 7 hours, there are 6 weeks left until the season starts, 8 weeks until the transfer window closes, and after the Carroll deal everyone knows how quickly a transfer can go through. I wish people had patience and faith in Kenny, and judge his signings and our squad in mid to late august instead of after a couple of weeks. Apologies for the long post

Hi Ed's

Listen guys..this club has been threw enough cr@p in the last few years so lets stop arguing amongst ourselves..We had two lying wasters at the helm of our great club and finally after we get rid of them..we start fighting and slagging eachother of because we are'nt splashing the cash and missing out on so called targets..I believe no news is good news..no one from the club has yet said ''yes we were after that player but things did'nt work out''..maybe that was because we were never after them in the first place and remember this..all good things come to those who wait.The transfer window is now open so expect things to happen soon...sry for the rant

Just a quick thought for the Ed's and the rest of you insomniacs out there hoping for some news to break. Do you think its possible in this day and age, with the likes of Twitter, SSN, mobiles etc to actually conduct business in private without any leaks? I guess what I'm trying to fool myself into believing is, could we already have our deals done but we're keeping them silent util they could officially be concluded today?

Anyone slightly worried about how the team is shaping up for next season? The secret is out I can reveal one of Liverpool's great mysteries of transfer and recruitment policy. It involves repetition of past formulas......and Kenny's little black book of footballers names. There is no room for Connors or Ashleys here:

So far this transfer season we have been linked with a Lucas and a Suarez despite already owning one of each.
Next year right midfield could be taken by Glen Johnson, Adam Johnson or Charlie Adam (the winger Torres from Athletico was considered but the name is allegedly synonymous with lazy, glory-hunting disloyalty).
The defence could involve the the 2 Martins - Skrtl and Kelly - or 3 Danny's - Agger, Ayala and Wilson (plus JC, but as we know....there's only one Jamie Carragher).
Our subs bench could involve Amoo, Ngoo and Ngog.
If Robbie comes back as people have predicted, the reserves could see Jesus being trained by God (overseen by the King of course).

Based on the above evidence I think it is obvious that our next two signings will be an Italian model leftback called Fabio and Carol Vordeman to partner Andy upfront.

Or maybe Kenny will buy the only player that really Matas?

01 Jul 2011 02:18:47
I have a question for people, say you have a budget of £300,000 to buy a house, you can stretch to 350k if need be, but you'd be eating beans and stolen bread for the rest of your life, while house hunting you find a house that is ready to move into, it costs 350k, then 20 minutes later you stumble across a real gem, twice the size as the 350k place, but half the price, only catch is it needs work, the work would cost about 50 - 75k if you did the hard yards yourself. NOW, what would you do?, would you buy the potentially great place that needs work?, do the hard yards and have a mansion, or would you rather take the expensive option, have as much room to move under your budget as you do in your new kitchenette, and know that you may have missed out on a real gem?. Yeh it would have taken a few years dedication, but it'd be the place you always wanted, and would suit you to a tee. It's either that or take the expensive option and walk past the other place in a few years time and see that somebody else has made it great.

Expensive is not always best, and very rarely has room to get better, if you do your homework properly then there are some serious bargains out there.

01 Jul 2011 02:09:08
Really, really disappointed about clichy. With money tight at the club (and it is tight, trust me), clichy represented everything about who we need to buy. Value, hard working and combative. To see man city come in and steal him from under out noses is a disgrace. This deal should have been wrapped up days ago. I for one am concerned. Not with management or 1st team squad, but with the huge wage costs of peripheral players hamstringing our ability to make the squad better. Seriously, there's no way we can afford to buy 15m plus players with our current wage bill. We have to shift the deadwood. Yet another symptom of the s**t h&g left us in.
Kenny, go get us Dempsey first please.
Tbr

01 Jul 2011 01:23:28
I think all of us need a huge dose of reality because the reality is we're struggling to get rid of the deadwood and slash the wages bill, otherwise it's really difficult to see any new signings coming in. As it is, we are still stuck with Konch, Insua, Ngog, El Zhar, Poulsen, Cole...

Kenny said the squad just need a little tickering - read as we need to slash the wage bill before we can bring new blood in. You think J W Henry will endorse new players for the club while the wage bill keeps escalating? Sing Red

Just seen Utd are bidding for M'Villa from Rennes.... So upset if they get him for £15m. Awesome player, crazy cheap and not with a huge club so we can offer a step up for him. A huge improvement over anything we have in DM and if he goes to Utd I can see him being their best buy, and a huge capture.

01 Jul 2011 00:55:41
blimey, why are people so impatient-and what says $50 million buys you the best.Look at what has happened with Torres-he has become a very expensive flop. No matter what you pay there is absolutely no guarantee that a player is going to succeed at a club no matter where they come from.Looking back at the history of Liverpool and some of their great players, where did they come from? Keegan came from Scunthorpe, Rush came from Chester, Toshack came from Cardiff City and Aldridge came from Newport County amongst others. All these overseas players you get excited about look great but can they hack it in the premiership.Liverpool bought their fair share of flops based on performances at world cups etc, and look what happened there Home grown is not so bad you know, and if Wickham was the answer , what the hell was the question

anyone have any concrete information about Mata someone has said on twitter that he prefers Arsenal and that if Nasri leaves expect him to go arsenal. OK i know twitter is far from reliable but this guy has been wrong and correct.(well that dont help ahaha) it would baffle me if he went, with his one and only spanish friend at the club leaving plus clichy and Maybe Nasri....i feel he may stay in Valencia one more season to see the progression of his potential clubs, if not i feel Barca if they get sanchez and Fab wont go for him, then in the prem city and us are the front runners.

Tom is a midfielders and only 20? What will happen we arn't sure a suppose. Is kenny really doing what he did by buying players like barnes from lower teams and trying to build a world class team? according to the mirror blackpool have told liverpool they must pay £9 million for adam, so what is the hold up? if this is case where has the hold up been for the last 3 weeks is it now?? tell us a price, we oughta pay it as it seems pretty reasonable, deal done, adam wants it, we want him, they want £9 million, i spose he'll sign last day of the window when we finally get the deal WE want, not his club, commoli will work out a deal for say, £8, 950,000 and not a penny more just gt him signed, boring now, it seems and obvious deal to be done but god there making the most of it

why the FECK are we linked with WAYNE F**KING BRIDGE?

He has NEVER been a good player, and now that he is 30, he is only getting WORSE. The SH*T that comes out my arse is better than him. He is absolute SH*TE.
I'd prefer Dossena back over him. Scrap that, I'd prefer a blindfolded Konchesky

He was absolute dogs muck at Man city, even worse at West Ham - and they got relegated He was barely noticeable in a relegated team - we won't push for anything with this signing. Fair enough signing from a relegated team if they are their best player, because they can materialise into something, but not WAYNE BLOODY BRIDGE.

Surely we haven't reached such a pinnacle of despair. OH MY GOD HE IS SO SH*TE.

Here we go again, enough is enough,
the usual we are going to buy him and him etc..
wake up smell the horse Man Utd all around everyone EXCEPT us are doing business, not being linked and alledgedly interested in etc. It takes us 3 seasons to buy a player that other clubs can sort in a few weeks. It is very tedius now and rather boring, we are all being sucked into this we are negotiating etc etc.. RUBBISH we are supposed to be a top club with a few "dollars" well while those "dollars" sit in the bank any players who would improve our team/squad are moving on, presumably bored with the same old rigmarole that bores me. stand still and stop then go back 3 spaces. Nothing has changed, Henderson (whoo lets throw the flags out for a sunderland player, how our beloved club has gone down the biggest of biggest of hills).

sorry for the rant, but please don't try to appease me with, negotiations are delicate etc etc, the are only delicate and time consuming to us, not any other club

regards

a very very dissalussioned red irish man. who believes we will be cheering on the same old same old, and come the close of transfer day, our owners and management will announce "well we tried our best, things did'nt work out, boring boring)
