my thoughts on the game today
reina another great performance his ball distribution is unrivalled. glenn johnson was impressive in first 45mins second half played ok made a few wrong choices. skyrtel his usual self had not really anything to do. agger great presence on the ball great goal enough said. enrique just is himself solid defensively and attacking. lucas glad to see him back doing his thing. joe allen probably got glimses of what i expected when he was bought. gerrard didnt score but some of his passes were sublime. raheem did ok but his ball retention at times was away. suarez simply put is a genius this wasnt his best game but the true grit he shows is an example to anyone. shelvey i was impressed with because his desire to show for the ball just tells me he is a confident young lad. henderson a player i like has no backing from most fans over his price tag but he is a genuine player.
feel free to comment this my view not everyones

livlim

So why didn't we bash Southampton for six if individually we played so well?

Ozone

Wow Ozone...such a lack of any understanding whatsoever. We simply were not sufficiently clinical in front of goal and again we did hit the woodwork twice. 3 nil would have been a fairer reflection of the game but I'll take three points and 1 nil!

Fans such as you Ozone keep finding things to moan about. Just go away!

Because they've got legs too and are a premier league team. respect is a two way street mate.

Everyone mentions names and insinuates who they'd like us to sign, but who do you think will be signing for Liverpool in January? Who have we shown the most interest in? Because according to the Daily Mail, Mirror, etc. it seems as if we are looking at nearly anyone who's scored a goal (or hasn't scored enough...)

Any truth pepe of to barca with valdes going to city rumour seemed to be rife at todays game ?
Petermolly

Why on earth would city want Valdes?

I'm fed up of this negativety by so called fans.

We have by all accounts had a bad start to this season but we are only adrift of a top four spot by a few points and if you consider the 'denied' two against Everton and Skirtel's unfortunate back pass, plus the other missed opportunities, we would be in the real mix.

Brendan is doing a fine job moulding something for the future it appears. Youth in and flourishing. Under performers sidelined unless they shape up - Jose. Cutting costs - yes as a club we have been losing money. Without forwards - something went wrong at end of August. Injuries - Kelly, Lucas and Borini plus Cole.

And those that moan - just look at Chelski with the man they wanted!!! - history and that's all - downhill for the last two years with us - a disaster with great team at Milan and now moaning about the depth of the Chelski squad - could never hack it with us at Anfield now.

Positives - all our team now are comfortable on the ball - forget the nervy moments in the first few matches - forget poor Skirtel bottling it - he is comfortable with moving and holding the ball now.

The future is very bright

jnev

How can you even compare us with chelsea..they are having a bad patch we have been bad for about five years...they have won the league about 3times in the last 10 years..we have never won it in twenty...should i go on???

Get off the lithium tablets mate, they are clouding your judgement.
We are a average mid table team, with one style of play, and no plan B.

Agree, but Skirtel. Seriously?

01 Dec 2012 23:19:03
Shane Long and Walcott are Brendan Rodgers main targets in January. Long will cost around 10-12 million and Walcott will come in for around 8 million.

I don't necessarily believe this, but a Walcott, Long, Suarez front three would be interesting to see, that's for sure.

Absolutely no chance of getting Long especially at that price

Long is no where worth near 10-12 pounds.. Walcott would cost a lot more than that!

I watched Tom ince today at the posh-Blackpool game, i know we're linked with him, but tbh I hope we don't get him his skills etc arnt all there made out to be yes he scored and got an assist etc, but truthfully sterling, suso and Ibe are much better. Especially as for the first half he was diabolical, never on the ball, in the prem with a quick agile defender he'd get destroyed :)
Cheers

I was at the match today, which if I may say was woeful.
There was no atmosphere and the only time the songs started to flow was when the announcer called Southampton Swansea.
Not many good performances today expect for Lucas who I thought was brilliant on his first game back from months out but on the other hand I thought sterling was absolutely awful the worst performance by a player that I have seen for us in years, and I know I'll get slated for that but it's true he didn't look interested, looked tired, bored and generally had an attitude that to me didn't seem positive. How he stayed on the pitch I don't know and I don't care how old he is and how much learning he has to do, if he's in the starting eleven then he can and will get slated. If he doesn't sign a contract as he is too greedy then as far as I'm concerned he can leave, bearing in mind bright young stars fade as they all have done.
Sorry for the moan just felt that something needed to be said about how poor he really was today
JBPLFC

I agree, never heard it so quiet. thought we played some nice football tho, sterling didnt seem to be with it today. apart from that its improving.

I really hope Sterling is just tired and has'nt got anything playing on his mind! Everyone know's the phrase "There's no smoke without fire" There's an awful lot of reporting of his discontent and offer's being made!

Sterlings mind is elsewhere.
Maybe time to cash in as soon as poSsible.
His head has been turned.

Thats a sacndelous statement to say his head is turned and he looks disinterested. The pressure cooker that boy has been thrown into at such a young age is incredible....the whole country is judging his every move and the contract is only adding fuel to the fire. Obviously this is going to take its toll and he'll have to take a break to avoid mental exhaustion....whether or not he'll get that break is another thing but i feel for him. I understand he's in the public domain and is open to criticism, but keep it in perspective ffs.

just seen ajax/psv on tv,erikson played very well would be a dream to get him,but fisher on the wing was pure class.
21 and 19 years old.
both are gonna be stars, there out there lets try to get them and push on.

Fischer destroyed our Under 19's in last years Next Gen Series. We lost 6-0 in the semi finals.

BthekingB

They will not be joining liverpool

Eriksen & Mertr ens would really push us for the title.. Winger & false8 which is exactly what we need!

Chaki

Eriksen & Mertr ens would really push us for the title...

Come on....be realistic you lot need more than these two players to even get a sniff of the title.

Hi eds, what are the details of Gaston Ramirez's contract clause (if there is one) if Southampton get relegated? A player we might've acquired under KK and would defiantly strengthen the front line plus we could get him relatively cheap.

mozzilfc {Ed002's Note - I explained the situation with Ramirez over the summer - time and time again.}

He asked about a contract clause Ed002, is there one?

El pistolero #2 {Ed002's Note - I don't know the provisions of his contract.}

Would rather play Suso and Shelvey than buy another young CAM-type, personally.

01 Dec 2012 22:04:12
Hi eds

Please could you tell us which player you expect to see in January. Who do u think we will buy?

Thanks

Lucas {Ed002's Note - Please read the posts.}

Feel gutted for Joe Cole and his extended family, upon the death of his brother-in-law Mitchell Cole, 27 is no age for someone to die. Hearing things like this and of course the terrible story of Stephen Packer currently put things into perspective.

Well fellow redmen, this is exactly the team we weren't beating at home last year (a la Norwich) and I'm glad we got 3 points. Sure some negatives such as Sterlings tiredness and Jonjo fading in the second half (plus Hendos run, why run into Sterling?) but good to see Stevie G free up a bit, Allen making some decisive passes in the opposition half (not sideways to the Allen bashers) and the return of a certain Lucas Leiva, how we have missed him.

Let's go to West Ham fighting and let's not get carried away.

mozzilfc

Brilliant to see allen in his natural role as central midfielder rather than defensive. Sterling is getting tired, get assaidi in the mix!

01 Dec 2012 21:40:36
now i was never a fan like many a red fan of lucas but over time he sold me over and i did see a player now today i know it was southampton no disrespect but lucas played infront of back four giving extra cover there allowing allan and gerrard to get forward and not only that in the last few months we only had 1or2 players in opponents box today there was 3or4 even 5 thats what lucas brings allowing our attacking players to get forward look at our right and left back at the last kick of the game in opponents last third why simple lucas what do u think red from across the pond

Funny thing is, I was always a fan of Lucas since I saw him play in the reserves.. I mean, Not that he played good, just that I always had high hopes for him. Weird how some things can turn out.

01 Dec 2012 21:30:13
anyone else noticed why luis hasnt scored in the last 3 games its simple??

Swansea no goals
Spurs no goals
Southampton no goals

if you also throw in Stoke at home no goals

if no one has spotted so far .he hasnt scored a goal against a premier team this season , that begins with a letter S.

so there you have it his nemesis this season is letter S.

steve peplow

He scored against Sunderland.

Do you think Gomis would be a good fit for liverpool?

That is if Liverpool can afford him..

01 Dec 2012 21:12:01
You have on chuffed Cudge today. Only 6 points behind 4th spot and we have a decent run of games compared to a lot of teams above us. I wouldn't be surprised to see us in top 4 by the end of January, who Knows maybe even the beginning if other teams results go our way, I think our next game will be a high scoring one, Just got a feeling.

PS gotta love a website, on there website in score center where i had to watch the updates as i was working, apparently we were beating west ham 1-0 then when Suarez got booked it said along the lines of such and such beat 2 Southampton players then on the next sentence Suarez has been booked he will now miss the Southampton game, whats the best word on here to describe them? STNUC!!

Cudge

01 Dec 2012 21:07:15
You read all this clap trap on here about us only being a centre forward or two away from challenging. How's that then? We won't go out there and bring in proven quality, it'll be a punt on a kid with resale value. In any event if we throw a fox in the box into the formation we will sacrifice a degree of possession. Teds obsessed with possession so he's happy with the existing formation, he just wants to bring in additions to 'support the group', as he puts it. Teds trying to play champagne football with fizzy wine players. We were better last season, at least we passed and moved as opposed to just pass. It's boring to watch and it will end in tears.

Ozone

What a ray of sunshine you are ozone. Great fun in the pub I bet...

02 Dec 2012 16:42:11
sure.... we are finally able to win against lower teams @ anfield and yet u claim we were better last season. take off your rose tinted glasses mate. Kenny Dalglish wasted 100M on poor players.

BR is the way foward

trini_red

01 Dec 2012 20:49:59
BR has only had 1 transfer window and a handful of games (very unlucky decisions wise in 3 or 4 of those) whilst the table position could be a lot better, the inclusion of Lucas and we can already see the blueprints of what BR is trying to accomplish (with a very young team) i feel once he's able to bring in more players that suit this style (and more goalscorers) we will be well on our way up,

Remember Bradley Wiggins fell and grazed his knees a few times learning how to ride his bike before he became a world record breaking gold medal winning olympian

Admittedly i began to question once or twice but by putting my logical head on I know BR is young and has a vision, and i for one believe in him

the more i watch michu the more tears fill my eyes when i see downing on the bench and carroll flying around like a donkey for westham...this guy was 2m those two guys were 55m combined...i hope fsg should think about reshuffling our scouting network and those in charge of transfers..when last have we got value for money this days

They acted quickly - Commolli is gone.

Fools and their money are quickly parted.
Sadly we have been the biggest fools in the transfer market in the last 2 years.

Just like people were saying about pappiss cisse last year. Next season he wont be able to score

1st season syndrome.

If Carroll had stayed fit at Newcastle he'd have got 20 goals.

He only went to swansea because of laudrup

01 Dec 2012 20:33:31
A win today ladies, not bad!

Only another 21 points to go to that 40 point mark to avoid relegation. Surely you lot can do it with 23 games left!!

Tree Blue

Would have another 2 points apart from being robbed against you

You do realise that we are only 4 points behind you bitters don't you?

We,ll be comin we,ll be comin ,we,ll be comin down the road when you hear the noise from the bill shankley boys we,ll be comin down the road. Reckon we will have caught your lot up by New Year's Day.

01 Dec 2012 20:27:43
I mean this in a positive way, not negative...how can we make the team attack in a more fluent way, ok we have got the defence and organisation, but it all seems a little mechanical and laboured right now...what are we lacking, is it pure and simple a quick striker to feed balls into or do we need anyone else?

don't shoot im trying to be constructive

Fluidity will come over time when the players have a better understanding of the system and each others games.

MIKEY

We lack confidence, that's all.

It comes from having a relative rookie as a manager and too many youngsters being pushed into an under performing team.

01 Dec 2012 20:21:39
And some k obs on here think we DONT need a striker!

01 Dec 2012 20:17:32
I missed the match today. Who played well and who didnt? A good win though. The positives are that you dont have to be a great team to get top 4 this season ilustrated by chelsea, everton, newcastle, arsenal, spurs, west brom etc. Its going to be luck on who gets the 3rd and 4th spot.

Jonjo faded, Lucas made some errors but he has been out for collectively nearly a year, could see why we missed him today though, made some vital interceptions. Gerrard was tired and frustrated, sterling was just tired but Suarez, Allen and the whole back 4 were superb.

If we can get another 3 points at WHU without luis, well be in a good position come Jan. Time for the squad to step up.

mozzilfc

Suarez was lively as usual. Gerrard played better. It was just phenomenal to see Lucas out there again. His presence in the middle is huge.
On a whole we were very wasteful. I thought this was one of our worse games. We played brilliant for 70 against spurs and lost and play crappy today and won.
Andrew

01 Dec 2012 20:02:25
Eds fellow reds , after today's result if we could win next week ,we can move into 8th ,watched tHe west ham game today and if we can over run the midfield we could get a result . Nolan was all over the park drop Lucas on him .

01 Dec 2012 19:42:49
Hello Ed002,
with Suarez out at WHU, who do you think will play upfront? {Ed002's Note - The obvious choice is Morgan or Pacheco buy I would think Assaidi might be the option Rodgers looks at to replace him in an interchangeable front three.}

Is morgan any more obvious than yesil? {Ed001's Note - yes, Yesil is still trying to fit in and Morgan is the one being pushed by the reserve and academy staff.}

He had Shelvey up front against Young Boys remember. I really hope Assaidi starts getting more playing time. I would not put Morgan or Yesil up front on their own at a hostile Upton Park, wouldn't be fair on the lads. When is Borini expected to return? Jan or Feb? He has to get more time in the central role when he comes back.

01 Dec 2012 19:54:34
We won by one goal. Lucas was back and we played some great stuff in the first half. Some great individual pieces of flair and skill by our lads too. A clean sheet. Enrique is in fine form. Thought Joe Allen looked good in the 1st half. Took dog for a walk in a good mood.
Saw Reading and Utd were in a 7 goal thriller and hurried home to watch 2nd half. Reading bossed it but it was pretty dire stuff to watch. They(Utd) have a goalkeeper issue, CB issues and have no midfield but still they won by a goal.
Life sometimes is just like that. So keep your chins up Redmen, we're on the way back and will do it in style. I hope your pints taste good as you all watch our 3 minute cameo on the end of MOTD. As was once said "The road is long, with many a winding turn, that leads us to who knows where, who knows where?"

Chi-Paul

GOOD job cos 2nd half we were awful again!

01 Dec 2012 19:30:45
Made up with the 3 points today , hope we can go on and get more points next weekend . Although I think west ham might be up for it after today's result . I have a sneaky suspicion BR might go for cole up front with Suarez being banned . Who would other reds pick if they were manager .

YNWA

Jamesy

Liverpool are only two good forwards away from challenging. Going by performances we shud be alot higher up the table and our luck and shocking ref decisions have cost us some of the decisions shud be investigated for corruption

I think it might be shelvey or gerrard for some reason, unless yesil or morgan does something to impress BR in the next few training sessions
derryred

Jamsey! Chelsea were not up for it today and flattered West Ham! The Hammer's played well but Chelsea did'nt and hav'nt since Rafa was installed! Hopefully we'll be up for it next week and give them a lot harder game than Chelsea did and hopefully get a good result and slowly but surely climb that table!

01 Dec 2012 19:23:00
Eds fellow reds .drop Morgan in next week as a poacher ,just let him play through the centre .

01 Dec 2012 19:16:20
Why compalain when we won after long, long time. I'm very happy we won it doesn't matter how we win at the end of the day only 3 points matter or counts in the game.

Its clear that our first priority is going to be RF as Rodgers has tried few of them Downing, suso now Shelvey. Anyways ed2 must be happy then even some fans who are not satisfied as alway when we win they moan when we loose they moan oh God just help them.

Take it you dont pay to go

01 Dec 2012 18:43:41
I think we are growing into the season very nicely and that would of been a game we would of drew last season. Lucas is a massive plus as is Enriques form he as been brilliant recently. A bit gutted about Suarez being out next sun but it gives an opportunity to someone else and I see him playing Thursday now.

Mighty reds

01 Dec 2012 18:31:58
With Suarez now banned for next weeks game against the Hammers who do you think will lead the line?

Personally I'd stick with Lucas Allen and Shelvey in midfield with a front three of Sterling Suso and Gerrard.

Curled1

Simple fact is we don't have anyone to lead the line.

Might as well play Agger upfront as he scored.

Thanks FSG

..........reina
Wisdom skrtel agger Johnson
...........lucus
........Allen gerrard Enrique
Sterling..shelvey

That's a good option, yeh, got a feelin BR might go 4 a 3-5-2 tho?
Carra, Skrtel, Agger as a back 3 Wisdom RWB, Johnson LWB,
Allen, Sahin, Gerrard as a mid 3, Enrique, Shelvey, Sterling.

I'd rather ur line-up, but can c BR doin this, as essentially it's 5-3-2 when defending.
Mite help when they're tryna lump balls in the box?

Shelvey, false 9 n stuff

Evening All,

I thought we were pretty good today and great to see Lucas back. I think we seen much improved performances from Allen and Gerrard because of this. Although I still wish Steven would keep the ball ticking over sometimes. Still trying too much too often for me.

We are just lacking precision and accuracy in the final third but as I keep saying, this will be the last part to click. Hopefully a couple of good additions up top in January will aid this as Sterling, as good as he is going to be, is still very raw (and tired) and we have tried god knows how many players on the left this season.

I am optimistic and table looking a lot better this evening. If we can just muster a few wins between now and Christmas then still in with good chance of a good season and outside chance of the top 4. Purchases in Jan are crucial.

Best wishes

Davey

01 Dec 2012 18:04:31
See that the 2 teams we dominated and were unlucky against Swansea and Spurs both had good away wins.
Thank God we never kept hold of Steve Clarke? How poor have WBA been in the last 2 games. Arsenal and Chelsea's big money signings that everyone was screaming about are'nt exactly firng are they. Don't get me started on Rafa.
How about us? EH! Lucas back 3 points in the bag, onwards and upwards. Were not far behind teams who are supposed to be having a good season. Happy!
kidmillions

Don't diss Steve Clarke. He is a good bloke doing a good job at WBA. FYI Stoke are their bogey team from the championship times.

Really don't understand why you are slating Steve Clarke, kidmillions?

After all, he's took West brom to fifth place in the league, seven points ahead of us. Doesn't say much for Brendan Rodgers does it?

Steve clarke is a gent & did well for us & personally hope stoke loose every game vile team vile manager vile ethics
Paisley's genius

Based on his past posts im taking the slagging of steve clark as being sarcastic ?
derryred

As you probably know I have never slated Steve Clarke whom I have the utmost respect for. If you read between the lines I was attempting to have a go at the fickle poster brigade who are quick to slag anyone on the back of a couple of results.
Judging by the response? It's backfired.
Red Faced. kidmillions

Sarcasm does not always translate well when written, see the point you are trying to make on fickle posters though kidmillions & due respect, just for the record no sarcasm on stoke & pulis!! Blurgh!! Vile!!

That's what you get for being clever kidmillions. Lol

Eds, Torres's hair was to the left today do you think that means he will join liverpool in January? Rafa's not coming back, neither is Torres,or Ian Rush, could we plz move on! How about good win today boys, StevieG classy first half Allen was decent as well, Sterling needs a break, MOTM Performance Jose, glad to see Lucas back great reception , we'll be a much better team now. He allows the rest of the midfield to play to their strengths, a couple more signings and we have the looks of a very classy young team, with a young manager that wants to play the right way, a superb youth setup, our youngsters will be on a conveyor belt to the first team. Overall feeling positive about our future but not deluded by the present. Leem

Agreed, we recently lost 2-1 against Spurs away, always a tough game and have just won 1-0 at home to Southampton, eek!

We are not in top gear, we need a player or two to help lighten the burden Big Sam is going to try and out muscle us and we'll need to out play them.

Hope Rodgers has something clever planned for up front, he's had a few weeks to live on knife edge that is relying on Suarez not to do something crazy and get a yellow, but can't really crucify Luis for his yellow today, silly but in the moment stuff. He needed a rest as well as young Sterling imo.

2 sensible posts, not getting carried away like daft posts above, well said both

Think Sterling has to miss the Udinese game. We need his speed against West Ham. Their full backs are slow along with their centre backs - Suarez would destroy them.

01 Dec 2012 17:54:40
As a poster who changes his mind with every passing results sometimes even during games. Will all posters just be happy today. 3pts clean sheet lucus back.
We haven't.won that often at home this year do relax and enjoy the pints tonite .

first time on this site in a while. disgusted with sterling getting a hammering. leave the kid alone. PLUS, he had bloody good game. fools.

Let's be fair, we've become hypercritical of players, especially on comment boards like this site.

I know Rodgers wouldn't be in management if he didn't go up to Sterling at the end of the match and talk and in training he'll be talking to him about these things. 17 years old, Bale wasn't on a winning Tottenham side in the Premiership until he was 22. So it shows how far and how quick Raheem has come.

But if he's playing a man's game, then he'll be treated like a man, so no hiding places. But that being said, i agree we don't need to call players names or disrespectfully compare them to waste produce, we should save these sort of slurs for politicians. :) 3 points, i'm happy enough.

January buys:
Moussa Sissoko 7m
Huntelaar 11m
Sturridge 8m
Jeffren 5.5m

Out:
Downing 8m
Cole Free

January/summer ins: isco 14 million
Daimoa 20 million
wanyama 8 million

outs: downing 6 million
hend 8 million
cole free
spearing 2 million
carrol 17 million

net spend: 9 million

I am sick to the back teeth of people coming on here with their list of players we should be buying and who to sell.Let the staff get on with that sort of thing and concentrate on just supporting whoever is playing in the red shirt

Jeffren loan

It's called being a fan. You get excited by signings. {Ed001's Note - I don't, I get excited by wins, who is wearing the shirt at the time is irrelevant to me.}

01 Dec 2012 17:27:58
3 Points lads, that all I wanted today.

A win no matter how it came, something to build on.

Lucas coming back is immense, He will free up the other 2 Midfielder's to push forward (whoever the 2 are), anyone who has seen BR's interview knows he likes a 3 Man Midfield, 1 holding and the other 2 to push laterally up the pitch.

This means a lot more of our possession will start to be in the opponents half.

I am willing to bet that Lucas is never dropped for the rest of the season in League games and will only be out if injured.

An another note, Michu for buy of the season anyone?

I am totally baffled why a larger team never went for him, us for instance, he was banging goals in left right and centre in Spain last year!

He only came because of Laudrup

They got a bargain, how much was it again? 3 Million?

01 Dec 2012 17:24:40
Anyone else wants us to SMASH West Ham just because it's Sam (Fergie Lover) Allardyce - I can at least respect what Fergie has achieved in the game but BIG Sam - who are ya!?!?!?!?
:-)
Good win today though Sammy Boy! Well done West Ham...

I hope Wet Spam spank ya!

Good result today boys!! Now, let's keep the momentum going through to Jan and beyond!

Welcome back Lucas, great to have you back!

Most of you complaining are crazy..I don't care a win is what matters to me anyway they do it...1-0 or even 7-6 as far we get 3points..now suarez can get the rest he needs..he would also start thursday in our must win match..

01 Dec 2012 17:09:56
Lovely to see the previous Lucas haters moving onto shelvey..oh but now of course lucas is vital to the team! what is wrong with you people. Tobiwan

Agree, Shelvey is excellent, even if today wasn't his best game, 4 goals in 8 games in Europa, maybe he'd be an option against WestHam? Enrique and Johnson stood out today above the rest imo.

Good win! Dominated the game but just lacking that killer touch. Fullbacks were awesome; especially Enrique. Gerrard coming back to his best but my MOTM has to be Lucas - how we have missed him! Fantastic day with gooners, chavs, brom and everton all dropped points. Let's keep it going! Singred

01 Dec 2012 17:07:17
Win is win and I would take 1-0 all day long.. Second half we didn't play well and quite wasteful in possession and some loose passes and misunderstanding...Suarez is banned from next game which is bit of worry given its west ham away..Gerrad started well but faded in second half and lost ball few times.. Sterling needs to be rested little bit but again its frightening to think he is about to turn just 18 and needs more composure and experience which will come with time.. 2-3 Players is all we need to have good squad...Big welcome back to Lucas who looked outstanding and just shows why we miss him so much...

Harry Oldbury

Good post not brainwashed-balanced

01 Dec 2012 17:06:49
even tho we got the win and i want to be positive it is worrying to see how many mistakes we make. Passing mistimed, runs mistimed, no shape and at times looked clueless. Johnson and enrique good and welcome back Lucas who did well though. Hard to see how we are going to get through a busy December.

Cred

Have some freakin' patience. It's a process. It takes time. And no teams play excellent for 90 minutes. The progress is clear to see.

In the second half of matches we have been very careless and lacklustre with possession. It's not just today, but seems incremental in our game, which is a cause for concern.

01 Dec 2012 17:06:06
Lucas played very well for his first game back, Gerrard had a cracker because of it so I hope a few people keep their mumblings to themselves. Sterling needs a rest, replace him with Assaidi in the next game and give either Yesil... or even Joe cole a game.

Dan.

Agree, although I think Lucas had a good game by any standard.

01 Dec 2012 17:04:47
3pts that's all i wanted. Delighted with the win. Pity Luis got a yellow. He can now play on Thursday with through kids. Br has big call for Sunday away to west ham.
He has said all along we are not a one man team time to prove it.
Think it will be stevie or johnjo up front would love to.see Morgan and Steve behind him.
Well done lads. Time for back to back wins. Look at spurs 3 on the trot and they are in the mix for champions league.

Dare i dream .
Well done

Hey eds

Why dont Liverpool take a punt on Franco Di Santo ? i like him as a player, his contract is up soon so can't cost more than a few million...not bad for a player who has been called up to the Argentina squad and has improved over the last few seasons.

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - How can I possibly answer a question "why don't Liverpool take a punt on ...."?}

01 Dec 2012 16:59:36
Missed the match.
How did that line up do?
Did Enrique, gerrard and Lucas have good games?

MIKEY

Lucas was brilliant, albeit a little rusty on some of his passes as was to be expected. Gerrard was obviously more comfortable knowing Lucas was there for cover and so attacked more which was good. Enrique was really good again, made some great runs, just needs to work a bit on his shooting - still put in another solid performance though.

Few too many mistakes in terms of linking play and some mad passes but all in all it was a comfortable victory.

JFT 96

JP

Yes they did. Lucas great, getting back in the groove. Stevie not quite in right place. Shelvey got better. Quite a few overhit passes today, especially in first half. Almost trying too hard.
Be interesting to see how we get in without Saurez, suspended for next game v West Ham. Chance for Morgan maybe?
ND

Yes, yes and yes Mikey i think everyone had a good game shelvey and sterling need to put some weight on their passing but other than that the whole team was good. The only problem is goalscoring but i would take 1-0 wins every week :)

Enrique and Lucas played superb. Gerrard better than last few games. Saurez got 1 yellow and banned for next game

Good performance but our finishing is woeful. We shouldve won by 6 goals. Sterling looked tired, Suarez needs a potent goalscorer infront of him definitely. {Ed002's Note - Why not humbly accept Liverpool won and just avoid trrashing teh players or manager for once.}

Thanks Ed that reply is spot on people can't be happy we won and defended well till the final whistle. Yeah there was some mistakes yes some players will need to be rested but we won we got the 3 points isn't that what everybody's been asking for?

Dont take it out on reds fans because your shower lost against fat sam u mug

But Ed, Sterling did look tired and it has been a talking point since Brendan Rodgers had the question posed to him in the pre-match press conference, it's actually a nicety to Sterling because it's a useful excuse to why he was sadly not as cutting as maybe he could have been, in a few chances.

Suarez does need a goal scorer next to him, he's making chances all over the penalty area and Liverpool could have, should have won by a lot more; had we such a player, they could have been challenging Suarez himself to the top goal scorer award. :)

I think it was a fair critique and one i agree with, Sterling has played a lot of matches already.

01 Dec 2012 16:54:34
I know lots will disagree but in my humble opinion Sterling is total sh**e. The kid hasn't got a bloody clue and messes up so many opportunities, right now he shouldn't be starting.

And right now u shudn't call urself a fan.
Disgrace.
The lad isn't even 18 yet, has played far 2 many games already this season andf is one of the few positives to come out of this campaign so far.
U r an absolute joke.

Go back to your own site he is a kid who has been outstanding So far this season . Agree he needs a rest but noway is he sh#te .

Jamesy

You are an absolute person he's 17 years old and has made a great start for us, you would obviously rather have downing looking at your knowledge of football. The boy's tired and he's still the only one that runs at the full backs out of our wingers. All he needs is a break and all Liverpool need to do is get rid of supporters like you.

It's pretty obvious who the clueless one is.

Whoever you are, you're an person.

Biscanifyoucan

Mate hes a first team regular at the age of 17, and shows knowledge and compusure beyond his years. It takes a while for players to shine at such a young age in a robust and challenging league. Hes doing well at the moment, and its scary to think how good he will eventually be!

Theres a manc loose lads, tread carefully!

ian the red

Ah, this is a bit raw don't you think friend? He's certainly better than you would have him credited.

He was ''wasteful'', i'd agree but he did do some positive things, only Agger's goal rippled the back of the net, it wasn't like Sterling was far worse than anyone else, it's that he's young and is learning, same as Jonjo and Rodgers. for all we forget it.

Ed, i just explained why i thought you may have been a little harsh, then i read on and see what utter miseries also use this site and leave the stuff you'd expect inside a public cubical at a train station. I see it through your eyes a little more and understand a little more, over exposure to this, surely isn't healthy?

Unlucky btw, i hope Benitez turns it around, as i think he's a good manager and given quality targets arriving it would only get better, alas, i think your fans for much have already decided that he's a dead man walking in his job, it's worse than Caesar on the Senate floor. :)

KUTGW (Keep uP the good Work) to all the Eds. {Ed002's Note - I always wash my hands before editing posts after Liverpool have played.}

01 Dec 2012 16:51:14
I don't care how talented Sterling is. He needs a day off. So wasteful today it was painful to watch.

01 Dec 2012 16:45:49
take shelvey off

To be fair in the second half everyone was losing the ball and cheaply, Shelvey was very good in the first half and was unlucky not to see his thunderous shot rip the net off the posts.

He's better going forward than going backwards, but is a clever player. One definitely to be patient with, he's still young and already doing the business often in terms of goals and general Shelvey Shelveyness. :) He's a good lad and is really stepping up to the level. (2nd top goals scorer, wow!)

brendan is a fool

everyone can see lucas is knackered...
why risk him...its so personic
and these are the things that annoy fans even more
is stupid decisions with subs..

He can't do anything right . If he hadn't played Lucas you would have said he was a fool . Do we need to complain about everything . We won but I bet there are stillsome on here who complain.

Never mind glass half empty, your glass is empty and has a chip in it.
We won so cheer up. Lucas is a big boy.

MIKEY

'Personic'? Sorry, please tell me what that made up word means?
Lucas was a risk today, but I 4 1 am made up BR took that risk.
Allen n Gerrard were much more happier n potent in their natural positions n the whole team looked more relaxed just coz of his (Lucas') presence.
Granted, not a perfect game, but when will we cut the Reds (the team we 'support' by the way) some slack?!
1-0, 3pts, well dun boys n Brendan!
YNWA xxxxx

If Lucas gets through 90 minutes - it's only good for him! They've not rushed him back.

01 Dec 2012 16:42:19
raheem sterling has been poor...
we have re discoverd johnosn and enrique...
the best full backs in the league..
LUCAS...thats the name who should sing...
look the way he wins the tackle and break the play..
outstanding..
so suarez booked and no trip to westham..
no caroll and no suarez.
great!!!

Good win today but we still have yet to beat any team above us in the league - FACT. We are a mid-table side. We are over-playing Sterling and Suarez because there is nobody else. Cannot play a 17 year old this much. Only good thing is that all the teams upto 3rd in the league are as inconsistent too, so we still have an outside chance of top 4. This will only happen if things turn around, don't see anything yet though.
G

Morgan, Yesil or even Shelvey can maybe get some time against Westham, Suarez has been phenominal for us so far, i'm actually sweet and sour about him having a game off to recoup his strengths, love the lad immensely, what a trier.

Enrique had a stormer, he's been drinking from the same sacred horn of the Vikings that John Arne used to. More of the same please Mr Enrique.

Johnson has been playing well (when fit) for some time, i thought he was the best player for England in the last failed tournament we were in. He's become vital to our balance on the right side.

Lucas is what steadies the midfield, he and Gerrard have a great understanding and it's good to see him back and already in his first game back he's too important to take off! Says it all really.

Sterling is wasteful, he always takes far too long to make a crucial pass, but he hopefully will learn in time, we all tend to forget we (the fans) built him up into a player he is yet to become, he needs a season or two and these decisions, movements and passes will fall into place a little better, he's still a kid and weighs about as much as a wet towel.

I don't think he's a natural ''forward'' he's a winger and should be running the wing and wouldn't be caught in two minds all the time, but eH! If Arsenal want Sterling, never mind about Theo WhoWhat, i'd take Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, he'd be a terror with Suarez, controversial i know, but eH!

01 Dec 2012 16:40:03
omg suarez gets a yellow card for a handball,so he is banned next match. who would brendan put upfront

I'd give Morgan the chance, I see him as 3rd choice central striker behind Suarez and Borini, with Yesil on the bench.

He'll probably play Shelvey there though.

BJH YNWA

Can only be brad jones or pepe renia .

01 Dec 2012 16:37:06
We're getting sloppy, we desperately need a second goal. Not creating any real clear cut chances though.

The ''clear cut chances'' are what we fluff up. It's the half chances Liverpool feed and scrap for survival from.

The bloody transfer window can't come quick enough, whoever moans about Sturridge coming in, look at who we put out upfront against West Ham and maybe think twice moaning about Sturridge.

Big Sam just turned over Roman's Chelsea 3-1 and Carlton Cole scored and his contract expires in 6 months, yeah welcome Sturridge with open arms, for all i think he's not super, he would help tally a few goals over a season. He's better than that Torres anyhow. :)

Perhaps we could send them Agent Downing?

Agent Downing is being groomed as we speak. Gonna cost them 45m though

Maybe we could send them Agents Cole, Allen and Carroll too.

Enrique, Johnson and Shelvey have been awesome with their movements and passing. But the Lord is back and

He passes the ball 40 yards

Because Shelvey is the second highest goal scorer Liverpool have got this season?

Because Shelvey can play in attacking midfield?

Because Shelvey seems overall a player in better form.

Absolutely agree with the original post.
It baffles me what ppl see in Shelvey. Slow, clumsy and clueless.

Shelvey is class, sahin is class but suso will be amazing... you should be happy we've got a problem like this picking one out of 3 very very good players.

Can anyone please explain what exactly does Sterling add to our team right now? After an initial good start to his career over that last few games I think he's been terrible, he doesn't beat his man and his decision making is awful.

01 Dec 2012 15:30:59

If you check my posts you will see I have always squarely put the main blame of our decline over last 3 years on a certain Rafael Benitez, and the 3 years previously, only winning an FA Cup on penalties.

His influence and tactics destroyed Inter Milan, the same influence appears to be having a similar effect on Chelsea - unfortunately with the players at his disposal at Chelsea, he won't fail completely, but I expect he'll be back doing his charity work on The Wirral with Monse sooner than most people on here thought.

I suppose we'll then get the " In Rafa we trust " brigade back on here.

Hello Eds,

Are Liverpool serious about getting sturridge and from what i have heard the quoted price is about 20m. dont berate me but I and many other fans and maybe even yourselves would feel we probabaly could get Torres for that much In jan. I beleive we are the only team who can revive his career. what you think?

crazy about caroll out for 2 months...pff damn that dude is injury prone..

anyway.........can anybody?? eds and all

shed some light on the formation today seeing as enrique is at left back ?

red lobster {Ed052's Note - Its the usual 4, 3, 3, with both Allen and Gerrard pushing forward more. Allen will hold more of either of the two, but still go forward more than usual. The front three will be dynamic and continually change positions, and run into holes, through the middle or out wide. Expect us to thump them haha}

Great Coach and he had us seeded number 1 in Europe DJ

Chelsea should have never go rid of Di Matteo.

Rafa has no excuses now. That squad is more than good enough to win the league.

Where will Rafa go after Abramovich sends him packing which is going to happen before the season is up. So much for Abromovich appointing Rafa to get the best out of Torres. MAJOR FAIL.

Old news ..

Latter Liverpool career - Fail
Inter - Fail
Chelsea - Early days but failing

Love it, great coach, ask the majority of LFC fans, ALL Inter Milan fans, ALL Chelsea fans and of course nearly every other team fans in the PL who were all calling for him to stay at Liverpool.

Rodgers has driven off Carroll. He is driving off Pepe Reina.

Rodgers will drive Liverpool down until we are rated along side Aston Villa.

The media are losing interest in us.

Boston Red

Don't be a turnip mate.

Reusch

He's driven off Carrol and has managed to get £17M and i am forever grateful.

AsianRed

As for carroll - we are better for his absence.
as for Reina - Rodgers plays him when he is
not performing well - how is that driving him off? Media losing interest in us - wouldn't that be a good thing?

Puzzled

Carroll has been a massive loss to us the 1 goal he has managed this season would have made all the difference.

Pepe has been brilliant for us but he hasn't played well for the last two seasons and has cost us on numerous occasions with silly mistakes.

We haven't been good enough for 5 or 6 years and BR needs time to build the team he wants and the style he wants to play so let's give him some support whilst he tries to get us competitive again

Norfolk Red

Stick to baseball and leave the football banter to the grown ups.

KUMBER

Yes, he is driving away Gerrard, Sterling, Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Wisdom, Agger, Skrtel, Suarez etc. etc.. A manager does does take care of a football club to actively destroy it. We have quality players, probably deserving of at least 5th in EPL on pure ability alone. The only differences between reality and a top 4 finish are a in form keeper, a real goalscorer to play along side Suarez and a dependable LB.

I think if sterling dont sign contract and tries to get lots more money out of club when he hits 18 we should let him go as he should be grateful he in the team at such a young age,no player is bigger than club and greed is what is killing this game ,hope he does sign as he is a good young player and it is only media stirring things up ,we need to send meesage to all players dont hold club to ransom and only play for club if heart is in it or look for somewhere else as we will always get a replacement -SALLY-

Sterling is a valuable asset. What your suggesting doesn't make good business sense.

Rodgers' amateurish public comments about the Sterling contract aren't helpful.

As a club, we are in no position, either sporting related or ethically, to take a moral high ground.

01 Dec 2012 13:40:51
I really do not agree that Laudrup and Clarke are better than Brendan Rodgers.Other teams tend to be more determined when playing a calibre of team like Liverpool,Arsenal e.t.c
Besides, the pressure of beign the Liverpool gaffer is enormous. So,my own expectation is to ensure qualification for Europe this season ,then next season we can aim higher.

On what evidence are your comments based? Jmac

Look at it this way big sams westham are up there, with more long balls then blackburn when they got rid of him. should we bring in big sam?

Macca, please ease my worries if possible...

Tony Barrett has said tonight that our 2 main targets are Tom Ince and Daniel Sturridge...

Have we not learnt from our last splurge on overrated English dross?

Sturridge got 11 goals and 5 assists last season in the PL.

Whether you like him or not, I'd welcome that return up front at the moment.

Him and jordan rhodes should be looked at very closely.

Downing and Hendo will be sold in the next windows thats why BR has been playing them recently. I also doubt that it is Gomis we were watching but a midfielder.
Thanks YNWA -DanieBoy

BR has said today we won't be selling anyone

You mean the same Brendan Rodgers that said ''Carroll is staying''. Only for Carroll to be loaned out with no one coming in to replace Carroll. Oh you mean that BR.

LoL, naive MR.

01 Dec 2012 12:26:34
Rodgers has said today that he wants to get players in quickly at the start of January n is confident we don't have to sell to buy players..... Hope u stick to your word mr Rodgers this time......we need to go on a run of wins soon n this is the time to do it with our next few fixtures, hope we win today or I'm going to start worrying about us..... Rodgers needs to forget about the top 4 n concentrate on getting out of a relegation battle 1st! Good luck today boys coz all I can see is another draw to be honest!

thank you for the info in the past, cheers

Andy Carroll may be given a chance under Rodgers next year.

I hope so.

Rubbish! Why the hell would we want a striker that cant score? His goalscoring record this season is 1 goal in 14 games. Last season was 1 goal every 9 games. He has actually gotten worse!

BrisbaneLFC

I hope not. The donkey can't even get in west hams team today

Carroll was injured for six games. And his record is still better than Borini..

Interested to know your opinions here lads.

Who do you reckon is the most underrated player for LFC in the last 5 years?

Personally gonna go with Arbeloa.

JFT 96

Underated? id say crouch. Top footballer i always thought, look at his hat trick against arsenal, the skill the movement the technique, for all three goals.

Benny baller

You mean the spanish and real defender . for me it would be maxi before his purple patch when kenny took over, dont remember any one calling for him to start games, then all of a sudden people wanted him to start every game even tho it was like playing with 10 men when we had a battle on our hands.

My prediction for today's game is 4-0.

Scorers - Suarez, Gerrard, Johnson, Suarez.

This is going to be a good month for us and when it is over we won't be far off 4th. Mark my words.

Just seen video of Jordan ibe from the 3-0 the other day. Looks amazing. How old is he? Is he likely to make the first team in the near future?

Cheers guys. Great work.

He's a big talent, no doubt about that. He's only 16 though, doubt we'll see him involved this season. Maybe a cameo or two at the end of the season.

Amz

Hes not 17 til next week, great ability but better playing for U18's than sitting on the bench.

We are currently re-building.....yes this seems to have been an on-going process since Houllier started his 3 year plan, but this current rebuilding regime is significant.
We have owners that are un-doing all that was done wrong since Moores + H&G. They are also in the process of doing things that should have been done years ago, but never were.
We are sorting the finances out, developing a new way of playing (back to the style we were famous for - keeping the ball, passing teams to death and making them work without the ball, so we can kill them off).
This will take time.
There's no point is saying things like " after 10 games or 15 games this manager had 24 points or 8 wins etc.
Certain managers had a lot of money to spend or had a better 1st team/squad.
I firmly believe that BR is the right manager for us.
Any position above relegation this season will do (although I think we will be nearer the top than the bottom).
Get behind the team 100%.
Stop moaning.
Make some noise for a change at Anfield.
Enjoy the ride.
In a few seasons we will truly appreciate what is currently being done (foundations being laid for long-term stability and success).

Do u go to anfield on a regular basis? You can statt the singing off cant ye.

Waro.

I like your post and I agree with you I'm prepared another re-building effort. Liverpool are short of some quality because we have some mediocre players. Besides what's the alternative, start throwing monoply money around to buy players Unfortuntley clubs want real money. We haven't got money and it's as simple as that.

Owen

Get to Anfield as much as I can. Hard when you live in Kent, have kids, mortgage, low income and not a lot of spare time. Subscribe to LFC TV to watch any match I don't get to, so can see how quiet Anfield and has been for a few years now.

01 Dec 2012 11:15:14
Was top 4 a realistic target for this season? I didn't think so. It was always a huge ask for any manager to take this squad of players above any of City, United, Chelsea or Arsenal. For me this season was about Rodgers getting the players to play his way and hopefully give the young lads as much game time as possible.
I am a fan of Brendan Rodgers and to think of sacking him already is madness, i'm not saying the results have been acceptable but to be manager of Liverpool is a very difficult job at the moment, mainly due to some very hostile impatient fans. The fact that our away support generates more noise than Anfield is embarrassing, best fans fans in the world? Not if you read a large amount of posts on here.
I'm sure that will get a few disagree's but it needs to be said.

Now as for football our season starts today, anything less than 3 points at home against Southampton is a poor result, there's no hiding we need to win not just for the points, but to get a bit of pride back at Anfield. Teams are coming here expecting to win instead of hoping for a point. That needs to change.

The manager came out recently saying the pressure needs to be taken off Gerrard i don't know if that was his way of saying, we can't rely on Stevie anymore because he's playing so bad someone else needs to step up and help Suarez. Unfortunately no manager has had the bottle to drop Gerrard so the other players have had to carry him through games, the last two against Swansea and Spurs highlighted this. With Lucas due back soon i wonder if we'll see a midfield of Lucas - Allen - Shelvey which is probably the best we have at the moment.

I saw a post on here yesterday saying, " i won't support a team going down hill." Well i'm sure i speak for a lot of Liverpool supporters in saying you won't be missed.

always a red

In August chairman Tom Werner said top 4 was "vital".
He obviously thought it was realistic.

And Tom knoes as much about footbal as the anfield cat, probably less fact!

We actually went into the new year only a few points off top 4 last season. Our squad depth wasn't good enough, evident when lucas was injured.

Be gratefull for Rodgers!

After 14 games Kenny only got a return of 23pts
And after 14 games Roy could only muster 19pts.

Brendan is fixing us,I believe he is from a different bottle a special one.

So for all those wanting our best manager in years sacked ASK YOURSELF WOULD YOU PREFER ROY OR KENNY?

The stats dont lie we are better under Brendan.

R u bonkers? currently 14 games and 16pts!

I agree with you entirely that Rodgers is a better manager for the long term. But your argument of using points after 14 games doesn't make sense since we have only 16 points after 14 games under Rodgers !! ra1969

No wonder you didn't sign your post.

FT

He is taking the pee!

The Irish Rover

I agree.

Less points after fourteen games than either of the two previous managers is better. BR is ploughing a new furrow to success. Its the equivalent of getting in the slip stream of the faster cars waiting til the right moment to pull out and overtake. Right?

Its not about points is about style. Jmac

'Sir Alex Ferguson might be on James Bond's hit-list after it turns out he offered 007 tickets to see Manchester United - but the spy is a Liverpool fan!

The Manchester United manager met actor Daniel Craig's mother on an aeroplane flight to the United States and said he is welcome to visit Old Trafford.

But his mother responded by telling Sir Alex that Craig would do no such thing as he supports the club's fierce rivals.'

Even James Bond supports our club. All arguments are invalid.

Lets get 1 thing straight, Brendan has no choice but to play youngsters! He hasn't brought them through and we are in danger of losing sterling because he'd rather talk publicly then to the lad himself! BR should have had raheems contract tied up so when he is 18 it's signed

Rafa on Carroll : "He played in the FA Youth Cup at Anfield and we were watching him, a young player with power. It was an option, he was cheaper. £35m? Take the 'three' off. Quite cheap". LOL. He's obviously taking a dig at his successors. Where's all the love gone Rafa, eh ?? ra1969

True though

Rafa is not taking the piss out of lfc he's taking the people that run lfc. They've made too many mistakes not to be made fun of.

Love dies qucikly when you change sides

And the plastic love is never there. RAFA might find that out soon.

I felt really sorry for the flak Rafa is taking! Then i think of the pay cheque he's getting! then i don't feel that bad on him! Coz all those shouting abuse at him he's just pocketing the money they've just paid to get in to shout abuse at him! Which is funny really! In Rafa we trust! Hehe!

Slowly im losing faith...... A string of what i would say were bad calls in succession is dampening my spirit by the minute.

From the word go I have been behind my manager, yes i got angry once or twice.....
The last two games we've played cole and hendo, Y y y y. Are u trying to break our spirits ?
What happened to Suso, shelvey, sahin , yesil .
If u want us to turn against u , carry on as ur going BR, keep playing cole and gerard .
U said u play players on merit and they dont merit to be on the team, and that Mule heondo, no disrepect intended. As to what kenny ever saw in him i cant see it, and im looking with a microscope.

Today, i promice u , we will lose against southampton, they have more heart and our captain looks like hes a ten year old at a dinner party, not really sure what he must do , so he just stands there.

I think it is time that we let pepe reina leave he has not been at his best in a long time and we can still get big money for him.The way I see it is if Jones can do just as good a job as reina then pepe has lost a lot of form and I honestly believe that we could do a great deal (make a profit) from selling him to buying a new keeper. And at the moment there are a lot of top quality goalkeepers around.I no I am probably gonna get slatted by the pepe lovers but even you guys have to be honest his form is poor and he has never been good in the air.

Brendan Rodgers is happy with the progress since he arrived at LFC? He must be crazy? The table doesn't lie.
If this is progress why did we change managers in the first place? Our position is far worse now then last season and we look like not getting any better under BR. He keeps blaming refs etc. Get the results or go home. This business isn't for your lot.

Do people not remember the second half of last season when we collapsed?
Home defeats to Wigan, West Brom, Fulham?
We only won 6 games at home all last seaso and only 2 or 3 after christmas.
Yes, Kenny started off well but then it all went wrong. Atleast give Rodgers until the end of the season before you judge him, with some good signings in January we could be right in the mix for top 4 come April/ May.

Our excuses can't stop. Frankly a bad workman always blames his tools.
BR was a bad choice he can't blame anyone. He shipped goal scoring players without replacing them.
Fact Westbrom don't even have a squad as good as ours. They are getting results and are up there. Someone is doing their job.

The only man i'd want for his job and has RB on his tracksuit is Rudolpho Borrell! He know's those kid inside out and they respect him! The league table constantly changes throughout the season. You can be top of the League with just 1 minute of injury time left in the Season and then Goal!!
You're no longer top and finish 2nd and trophyless:):):) So the season is not over? Is it?

Although I do agree with many people here saying some of BR's tactical decisions are a mistake for example Downing as a LB but at the same time I think the reason he had him playing there is 1st he wants to get rid of him and he thinks showing him off will help clearly thats backfired and honestly I wish Downing would come good for us but hes clearly got no quality to provide for Liverpool. Second I think it was the injury to Wisdom who would have played RB and then Pushed Johnson to the LB. As we saw from the Wigan Game the Johnson/ Enrique partnership works and works well and Enrique is also starting to get into the rhythm of things and I can see him providing more assists/goals for us if he continues playing in his current position. All in all we do need to rest Sterling hes still young and he will undoubtedly get fatigued as the season draws on playing week in week out. An additional striker will bolster our attack but I reckon this year a top 4 finish is simply not possible.

Have heard that liverpool are looking seriously into Sakho. He's not happy with the bench but he lacks the experience of his counterparts. He's played a good level of top flight football and would be good for the future and fit straight into the team. I've heard this will be financed by the possible sale of Dan Agger to a big club.
I know he only just signed a new contract, but this means his sale value will remain high. It would also help fund a top striker.

Yeah right, sell our best cb. Then Skrtel's form will drop, n we will be forced to look at another cb. U shud be managing the mancs.

Go all out in Jan for Cavani 30 mil not unrealistic the south american family at anfield can be very inviting did you not watch being liverpool, in sticks reina back four johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique holding two lucas, allen attacking mid stevie g (who isn't past it just needs to be in his best position further forward)front 3 cavani suarez sterling. Sell carroll 18 mil to west ham (terms of loan if they stay up), downing 7 mil and cole 1 mil to anyone that will take them. therefore 6 months down the line 4 mil spent and pushing top half of prem, books balanced!

Totally agree. We have a good core. We we're one deadly player away from winning several of the earlier games. Our teams screaming out for that one talented player to poach the goals because Suarez is the best second striker / withdrawn striker in the world At the moment

Its that simple!! Haha

I bet BR has him signed up already, just waiting for Father Christmas to collect on his sleigh to drop him off on jan 1 :-)

More chance of us signing Elvis.

Suarez is the best striker in the world?

What about Falcao?

And Messi is in a different gene pool to every other player

The ssoner we stop hying our players the better

BR quote

"Gerrard has been Brilliant" since I came here.

Gerrard is taking the venom from some supporters just because BR is playing him at the back of midfield and no other midfield player we have can fill gerrards boots in the cam position. (actually no player in the world can play like Gerrard but thats a different story)

Why don't we attack Lucas for not scoring goals?

After all lucas has scored how many 1 goal in 5-6 years at LFC?

Gerrard has 150 Goals at LFC.

Why not vent on Sahin, he's not a goal machine?

Or how about Steerling how many goals has he from 20 odd Games?

How about Allen how many goals has he chipped in with, a bagful, I don't think so!

How about our new srtiker before he was
injured Borini was he banging them in?

Was Borini like Rush before Borini got injured, no!

So why round on The Great One, Gerrard?

Stevie was always able to drag the team up on his own now thats not happening for many reasons, it does not make stevie a bad player, but it does raise questions and most of those questions should not lie at stevie's door.

Thunderlieger

Hey, Elvis could do a decent job up front with Luis

cozinoz

ARE people 'slating' Gerrard for not scoring?
I think the criticism is because he gives the ball away too much and that he doesn't track back - even when HE has just lost the ball.Add to that the appearance often of complete indifference.
People will balance his past achievements against his current deficiencies and will eventually say the latter outweighs the former. That is not 'slating',it is merely not being blinded by past glories

Puzzled

Are you living in a bubble.

Gerrard has one goal so far this year of course people are slating him for not scoring

Goals or rather lack of them are a big problem for LFC.

BR is the other big probelm.
