All, just wondering if anyone knows if LFC will be staying in Dublin the night before or night of the Bilbao game this Saturday? Or will they just fly in and out? Tks.

Great result that tonight but it's only a friendly. This time last year we beat Barcelona 4-0 then lost 2-0 to Burnley 2 weeks later when it really mattered. Hopefully Klopp and the lads are going to take it 1 game at a time and not get carried away. I still believe we need a few more in to complete the squad if we want to challenge for trophies and not be satisfied with finishing 4th.

01 Aug 2017 22:48:06
Loads of positives to take from tonight though. Salah could turn out to be a great signing. Him and Mane are going to cause teams problems this season.

01 Aug 2017 22:50:33
Still a very strong performance look great up front my concern is still at the back here's hoping for a VVD signature soon.

01 Aug 2017 23:02:47
Only a friendly but noteworthy how strategy changed to adapt to Bayern away. more of a 4-2-3-1 and Hendo and Can controlling middle of the park, releasing Mane, Salah on the break and Coutinho and Firmino to link play.

Have talked about it before but I can see a much more balanced klopp and more strategic approach this year, with a 4-2-3-1 probably being used more frequently and hopefully more difficult to beat.

Good signs, not just in the result but how Klopp is thinking and adapting.

02 Aug 2017 05:31:09
I'm still worried about how we will handle teams who set up to shut us down. We create changes but haven't been able to finish them. Hopefully Salah and Solanke will provide a solution to this. Salah's goal was very opportunistic last night, something we have missed since Suarez left.

02 Aug 2017 07:23:58
I think we struggled last year when we pressed and teams didn't come out.

I would say from last night we look more, set up to get behind the ball, and break quickly.

Given the pace we have this makes for a sensible approach.

01 Aug 2017 22:31:28
It's our year :)

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - heard it all before mate..

01 Aug 2017 22:34:44
I know mate. Just sarcasm unfortunately, although can't deny the strong performance!

{Ed025's Note - great result i must admit..

01 Aug 2017 22:39:43
Remember last year when we thrashed Barcelona and everyone was elated? Then we lost the next day and it was all doom and gloom, people were actually genuinely mad we played that game because it 'ruined the high of preseason'.

01 Aug 2017 23:10:17
Barcelona was a great game but while followed by Burnley, was also then followed by a fantastic run into Christmas too.

It wasn't completely misleading that we beat them, and neither is this Bayern win worthless either. hopefulyl shows were starting to gel and patterns/ movement looked good.

01 Aug 2017 22:28:37
Moreno defending pretty well ๐Ÿ˜ณ Klopp really is a magician ๐ŸŽฉ.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - souhampton and RBL wish he would disappear..

01 Aug 2017 22:54:27
๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ I think koeman might aswell Ed ๐Ÿค”.

01 Aug 2017 23:12:18
Are they really that worried about our rising star Alberto Moreno Ed025? Lol.

Baz.

{Ed025's Note - i would not think so baz..

01 Aug 2017 23:23:53
With a TAP TAP of his magic wand,

Klopp can make your centre half disappear. I HOPE.

{Ed025's Note - well he certainly succeeded with yours der..

01 Aug 2017 22:05:35
Another really impressive performance. Our movement, one touch passing and energy was brilliant. My motm was moreno, he was amazing, defensively solid, dealt with everything, his attacking display was top class, his timing of the overlap, pinpoint crossing and his assist impressed me hugely. He's gotten huge stick some warranted but tonight he was a changed man. Hopefully this is a turning point for him. Hoping and praying Sturridge is okay, what a classy finish hoping it's a nothing injury and just a slight strain or fatigue from multiple sessions.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 22:44:35
Impressive yes. but klopp still not 100% happy. Love the fact he still pushing the boys after a great win.

01 Aug 2017 22:59:39
Ya saw his comments, always keep the lads on their toes and striving to improve.

01 Aug 2017 23:25:04
Great shop window for the lad.

01 Aug 2017 22:03:56
TAA a starter for me, also Kent and Woodburn did well.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 01:01:20
Will be lots of games this season I think Kent should stay, gives us some pace from the bench and a ability to beat a man, chances of either mane and salah staying fit all season will be unlikely too.

01 Aug 2017 22:00:49
Sturridge injury can't be that bad, or he would not have been given interview at the end of the game. hopefully just a bit of tightness with all the training they have been doing. klopp said they did all have heavy legs. and Sturridge said they have been doing triple seasons so hopefully see how things are tomorrow YNWA.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 23:31:45
Hopefully He'll be OK.

Its a make or break 6 months for Sturridge.

His Career has been blighted by injury.

He really could be a top class,30 goals a season striker.

He needs a break (pun unintended)

01 Aug 2017 21:54:07
Serious question. Did Moreno just play his way back into Klopps thoughts? I know it's pre-season but that was a scrappy game and he was really good!

Believable13 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 21:47:25
Anyone think if we just take the 'n' of the name Robertson and call him 'Robertso' he will be better?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 21:56:04
No. But take out the "son" and put in "inho" and it just might work.

01 Aug 2017 22:13:00
take the s out to get rid of the name Andre and add Carlos after the Roberto and that is some player you have there. :)

I hope Robertson does well this year and syres up the left side of our defence.

02 Aug 2017 00:05:22
I was thinking along the lines of robertso Carlos!

01 Aug 2017 21:44:05
It's a preseason game. But think having salah is having a great effect on our balance then we at first release. Having Mane and Salah either side makes it harder for full backs to push forward.

Gives a bit of protection to our fullbacks. Moreno seemed to enjoy bayern game makes a difference when you got someone as fast as mane infront of you stoping full backs overlapping so quickly.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:43:58
With regards to Sturridge; it looked like either a hip flexor or quad issue to me from the replay. We do need a new striker if Solanke is only considered good enough for the U-23's. Only those watching him train daily at Melwood know the answer to that. It doesn't have to be a world beater. Javier Hernandez would have been perfect IMO but we'll never know now I guess. Great result tonight, pre-season or not. The lads played well.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

01 Aug 2017 23:37:31
How do they tell from training?

Is there obvious signs that coaches look for or is it just which player suits the opposition better

The margins are so small between nost of them.

02 Aug 2017 11:49:59
I'm not a coach Lfcder (luckily) but I would imagine there's numerous factors considered, including talking to the senior players who lined up directly against the individual player.
Obviously they'd be watched in match situations as well. maybe youth matches or in Solanke's situation, pre-season friendly matches.
He's been good, but so was Aspas which is why I'd like a reliable poacher type of striker from the Premier league brought in i. e. Hernandez, but that ship has sailed.

01 Aug 2017 21:38:38
Ok. Look I'm sorry. I thought that was what you do. Apologies for the questions then ed. Good win eh. Really buzzing. Anyone we sign will be a bonus but if we keep everyone we are definitely title challengers.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:38:20
ok so they players had a good workout against a very good team

that guy kent looked like he has improved. he didn't look out of place which is what i noticed

but i will stand by what i said before. lfc need more players to cope with such an injury plagued team. the same people will always get injured.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:37:10
Are the Eds and fellow reds prepared for the possible hundreds of posts to the tune of "Why are we trying to say Moreno? he looks a top quality player" I suppose it makes a nice change from Keita and VVD talk as well as the constant negative posts about certain players.

On another note Great game from the lads today now if we can transfer that to the Prem and Champs Leage exciting times ahead.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:35:36
Danny, please say it's nothing serious, we need you to win the league this season : (.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 22:08:06
Depending on Danny for title is like clutching at straws. not going to happen.

All said and done we were much better than last game and very good performance.

Cheers.

01 Aug 2017 22:24:41
Not saying we depend on him but we are a better team with him fit than him not.

01 Aug 2017 21:34:42
I wonder if everyone still wants Renato Sanches now? Looked very average to me and we have players doing that job already. I think at times we overlook what we have. It's not about spending huge sums on huge names. I'm sure Keita would be good for us, but at what cost? Who would get ditched? There are clear areas to develop and if the right player comes at a cost then so be it. Can we please appreciate what we have, support what we buy and stop bombarding the eds with fantasy football style questions. We are what we are, we are doing the best we can and will continue to do so.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 21:41:52
Sanchez was on of the wrost if not the wrost player on the pitch, lost the ball too many times and was giving possesion away in dangerous ares, i won't even pay 20 million never mind 45 ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

01 Aug 2017 21:45:18
He was very average but he looked one of there better players tonight. Shows u how bad Munich where though.

01 Aug 2017 21:46:27
Too many modern day fans just think the grass is always greener. Our squad is very good. We are admittedly a bit light at centre back, but aside from that I think we now have a squad to compete. And we built it the right way as well. We have spent large but not excessive fees on key players like Mane, Salah and Wijnaldum. Good value buys such as Matip, Karius, Grujic, Solanke, Robertson and Gomez have supplemented that; as well as promoting our own youth players such as Arnold, Woodburn, Flanagan, Kent and Ejaria.

I cannot wait for this season. We look so strong. I don't think people realise just how good we are. Make no mistake, Bayern were throwing the kitchen sink at us tonight and pre-season or not, we made them look average whilst trying to give everyone a game. Will be a very different game tomorrow night because Athletico beat Napoli at a stroll whereas we put in a big shift to topple one of the best teams in Europe. I even fancy the side we finished the game with to put Athletico away though!

01 Aug 2017 21:49:02
I wasn't overly impressed but guys it's pre season even Voronin had a decent preseason, tough to judge any player properly imo.

01 Aug 2017 21:30:58
Gutted for Sturridge but he needs to go he's made of glass! I love him but we can't depend on him he's miles ahead of any striker we have the runs he made alone is a forwards thinking it's better then firminos! but he's crocked he's not getting the luck I'm gutted for him! Will come
Back and haunt us if we don't sign a forward.

Believable6 Unbelievable14

01 Aug 2017 21:41:22
Help the man (kill the man) He is our friend (We hates the man) he is amazing (He is useless)

01 Aug 2017 21:48:34
It looks like a minor quad strain. Calm down. He played on for 5 minutes afterwards. You think he'd have done that if it was serious? Precautionary.

No need to over react Captain Knee Jerk. Wait until the morning when we know more.

{Ed002's Note - The Liverpool players, particularly Gerrard have suffered from stretching injuries of the groin.}

01 Aug 2017 21:53:40
Btw just to point out I do accept most the points you made I just thought I would make a Gollum joke as reading it he came to mind.

01 Aug 2017 21:29:43
So that double signing of Studge being fit didn't last very bloody long did it. . Oh well, maybe we will sign Keita now to replace him (sorry eds ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ)

Believable4 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 22:15:33
Liverpool were very very good tonight, beating one of the best teams in the world, think we would be nigh unbeatable if we had signed Keita . oops .

01 Aug 2017 21:28:29
Ed001 why I'm I banned on chat?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - didn't know you were.}

01 Aug 2017 21:39:57
Oh I can't post in there for some reason, thought I'd been banned.

01 Aug 2017 21:28:11
Ffs sturridge injured again hope it's nothing other than a jar of his quad muscle super finish for the goal really need him to keep fit this season think kent and Gurdic should be given more play time looked really direct and positive.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:46:42
Kent looked very good indeed.

01 Aug 2017 21:25:35
Quite entertaining for a pre season game! Gutted for sturridge of its a knock, great finish!
I don't want another cm, say that attacking lineup is our best, we still have gruijic lallana and gini to rotate, I'd like to see gruijic get chances especially.
I'd add a CB and if anything else a winger. I know we have 2 quality ones, but for me coutinho is now a midfielder, moving him away from there means we lose something. Someone else with pace allows us to rest or rotate mane and Salah.
Not gunna look into the game at all, Bayern were useless and its preseason, but Kent showed a few good touches, he can be the fourth winger with Woodburn. Arnold looks fine at right back, and hopefully Robertson can get some game time tomorrow.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:34:10
Where did that new Spanish left back come from? Lol.

01 Aug 2017 21:44:54
Bayern who? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Excellent team performance tonight.
Really hope Moreno stays.
Really hope Danny's injury is only minor after that fantastic finish .

01 Aug 2017 21:45:11
That man is baffling. Easily had his best game in a Liverpool shirt from what I can remember, when he's on his way out.

02 Aug 2017 00:06:52
Let's not get carried away from one pre season game, Moreno has had more than enough time to prove himself!

01 Aug 2017 21:25:30
evening eds would any of you know what the injury looked likely to be that sturridge picked up and recovery time?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he will need a scan first.}

01 Aug 2017 21:38:47
Absolutely gutted for him. Great finish though.

01 Aug 2017 21:17:47
Watching tonight's game. I like grujic better than Can, AA a definitely right back, Coutinho looks out of sorts 100 mill I would take it.
I wouldn't loan out Ryan Kent he looks dangerous coming of the bench on the left wings and definitely wouldn't loan him out. Mane and Salah I think Liverpool have more attacking options going forward. Sturridge scored a great goal but he is so unreliable I think he has go to go.
Give Ings a chance.
And Moreno had a good game. he has so much potential.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

01 Aug 2017 21:21:12
You'd decide to sell a player based on a pre-season friendly?

01 Aug 2017 21:24:29
So where are all the moaners who think we need to spend ยฃ140m on new players? Let the coach do his job and improve players including Moreno who actually looked like he play football tonight.

01 Aug 2017 21:26:10
Thought coutinho looked decent today.

01 Aug 2017 21:31:57
JFC some people.

01 Aug 2017 21:32:35
So gutted for Sturridge, great finish and to get injured doing so is just typical. Kent showed real skill when he came on, TAA was very good, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but Moreno was brilliant all game.

01 Aug 2017 21:34:12
Sturridge reminds me of Torres when he came back from his injury he lost his pace, we sold Torres at the right time.
Lfc can't risk Can going into the last season with no contract signed 30mill now or nothing next year.

01 Aug 2017 21:17:44
Danny Sturridge injured the man has no luck.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 21:24:57
Such a shame looked very dangerous and actually had that yard of pace back too. If there is any justice it's just a precautionary move it didn't look overly serious. To the poster above we would be fools to let him go unless we get a really generous offer.

01 Aug 2017 21:25:15
Summed his career up that sort burst of play.

01 Aug 2017 21:26:35
Such a shame, as soon as he hit it it looked like he strained something.

01 Aug 2017 21:29:23
No luck doesn't cover it. I really hope this is just a small tweak or strain and he can take part in the rest of pre-season, but his running stride didn't look quite right from the second he came on.

Quality goal though.

01 Aug 2017 21:29:41
I think we'd be fools to pay him so much to stay on the injury table. At what point will we say enough is enough?

01 Aug 2017 21:50:58
We took a chance on sturridge knowing he was injury prone. Ever since his City days he's been the same unfortunately for him he will b like that for the rest of his career, such a bloody talent as well.

{Ed025's Note - i know FG, its a bloody shame mate..

01 Aug 2017 22:40:12
All take a chill pill ref Sturridge, its just a result of all the tough training sessions while on tour, he will score more goals this season than you think .

01 Aug 2017 21:17:02
The year is 2020.

Al (Roberto Carlos) Moreno has just won his back to back Ballon D'Or.

Rafinha is still wondering where Ryan Kent disappeared too

Sturridge has score 50 goals in 200 minutes in 3 years and Grujic has grown dreadlocks in honour of being the new Ruud Gullit.

That is all :D.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 21:11:47
Dare I say (I know it is only a preseason game) but in this formation we look solid back to front and Bayern have not really troubled us. Is this the formation JK hopes to utilize this season? the majority of the players look very comfortable in this set up.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:23:27
Yes, it was a friendly but still, this was Bayern's 9th game of the preseason. I don't think they were that bad. We were simply that much much better.

01 Aug 2017 21:10:33
If walker is worth 50 mil Moreno must 70 mil at least.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 21:31:09
He had a unexpectedly good game, tbf. Best thing is that he didn't go to pieces when Coman came on and had a couple of runs at him. Just stood him up and let him go nowhere until help arrived instead of lunging in recklessly.

01 Aug 2017 21:10:14
Watching the Bayern game and great play from the lads, mane and mo look fantastic. Thought moreno had a great game, can't wait for the season to start.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 21:05:52
Kent can definitely beat a man.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 23:01:50
I had a look on his Instagram the other day, he posted a video of him beating the player, my mouth hit the floor. He can definitely beat his man and I'd definitely have a look for it in his page, it's worth it.

01 Aug 2017 21:02:02
Sod keita grujic is the man give the lad a chance.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 21:07:59
hs goal was disallowed if that was why you are saying that. I do agree tho he is a good young player and should be given a chance. I would have loved keita but it is never going to happen.

01 Aug 2017 21:27:40
Gruijic looks built for the premier league, strong and not a donkey by any means - he can hit a ball. I'd rather give him chances than sign another cm.

01 Aug 2017 20:57:02
So looks like Mbappe to LFC is now 100% on.

Lol joke, looks like we won't be making any more signings until Jan, which I have no problem with. We have plenty of talent in our team, I can't see VVD signing any more, but I'm quite often wrong so who knows.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

01 Aug 2017 20:50:39
Please God let us just add VVD to complete the squad as we look fierce from Mid and going Forward with Couts dropping back and having lallana Gini and Studge on the bench. We could be in for a gr8 season ahead.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 21:29:48
I feel Gini should always start when fit. Doesn't seem to put a foot wrong.

01 Aug 2017 20:45:11
It's not just a goal it's an M&S goal ๐Ÿ˜.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 20:29:14
Moreno, playing like a world beater!

But then next game will prob be rubbish!

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 20:45:24
Who is this Moreno guy and were did we buy him from he's excellent lol.

My guess personally is that the formation suits and doesn't expose him as much but going forward he's in real today.

01 Aug 2017 20:28:34
How much do you think Moreno would be cost if we bought him? I personally would rather keep him than sell for less than a profit. Good performance from him against Bayern.

Best preseason game for our front three so far. Mane in particular was pure class, firmino created his goal for him with his typical hardwork and Moreno should have had an assist with that beautiful counterattack and cross and a goal from a free kick.

And now for the second half.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 20:41:00
Great to have Winny and lallana to come in as replacements. a great squad Klopp is building!

01 Aug 2017 20:27:55
Ok, so we looked good against Munich.
But we always looked good against this type of attacking team.
What I am really looking forward to is the Athletico game.
I think this will really help us see how we will play against teams who try to frustrate you. And athleti are one of the best teams in the world at.
Very impressed with TAA again, if he starts the season a fail to see how clone will get back in the squad.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 20:25:04
1st half over in Munich Bobby, Salah and Mane absolutely outstanding whole team very solid and focused even Moreno playing exceptionally well great feeling for the start of the season i know its only preseason but the pace that's up front in the team is phenomenal if we could possibly get in another cb before the start of the season and keep Couts who has been surprisingly quiet tonight then we could have a real go this year .

Believable6 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 20:24:26
Watching a half-fit Mane absolutely wreck Bayern Munich is a sight to behold! He could easily score 20+ if he stays fit for the whole 38 games.

Also, how much more solid do we look in this formation with Can and Henderson protecting the back 4?

I know it's only pre-season but i can't help it! Exciting times.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 20:11:52
as exciting as he is going forward, Trent is an absolute liability at the back. He is all over the place. I sincerely hope (and I'm sure he will) that Klopp starts the season with gomez at right back.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

01 Aug 2017 20:29:39
Fully agree, bundles of potential but lacks so much intelligence defensively.

01 Aug 2017 20:35:36
And exactly why young players don't play.

How else is he ever supposed to learn?

He's playing against bayern Munich and Frank Ribery.

Oh yeah and he's 18 or summit. I'm 25 and still haven't got my rubbish together. That lads lining up against one of the world's best and most experienced left wingers.

01 Aug 2017 20:43:04
And I suppose Ribery is scared of the lightning and is just hiding in Trent's back pocket?
Out of position a couple of times but an otherwise mature performance in my book.

01 Aug 2017 21:34:40
Not sure which game the moaners above were watching but Ribery got put on his hind end more than once and didn't seem to bother trent. He is an immense talent and games like this will have shown Klopp the boy deserves to play and more than that he can be called upon when he is needed.

01 Aug 2017 19:57:28
Hi eds. Slightly off topic but your input is most welcomed. We dominated football in seventies and eighties and one of most support teams in world. How come we are not a financial powerhouse of world football. We were winning titles and cups for fun, so where is our money. I realize not the same amounts now as before, but surely we should be a rich club buying any player and paying any wages but since slysports took over, we stuttered behind their love child mu. Mismanagement or never had that sort of cash in first place? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - money didn't flood into the game until after our period of dominance was over.}

01 Aug 2017 20:22:53
We failed to capitalise on the money that started to come
into the game with the advent of the premier league. We were found wanting, commercially, for a number of years and have had to play catch up ever since.

{Ed001's Note - for how long did our commercial dept operate out of a room above a pub? David Moores has a lot to answer for.}

01 Aug 2017 20:38:28
We never took the opportunity to realise the business football was becoming.

We had poor ownership.

We should of increased are stadium at first opportunity when itt would of cost about 10p. For example in 2005 our brand new 65k stadium was going to cost 90mil. Now it's 150 mil for a stand expansion.

Where still playing catch up and never had the owners others had who where beyond rich (our owners are good but aren't shiek rich)

Where moving forward. And our 2-0 up against Munich so sall good.

01 Aug 2017 18:58:29
Hi Eds, will you be giving us the Live Chat room for tonight's match, many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note - yes, Liverpool Live Chat is now open.

01 Aug 2017 18:08:12
Eds. Do we know the next step for Xabi Alonso's career? Is he looking to go into coaching? He seems such an intelligent and level headed guy that could one day add great expertise to our backroom team.

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

01 Aug 2017 18:16:29
If he is coaching then sign him up ๐Ÿ‘.

01 Aug 2017 18:20:30
Any other Eds know?

01 Aug 2017 18:20:30
Any other Eds know?

{Ed001's Note - sorry no, I don't know what he is doing.}

01 Aug 2017 18:37:05
Ron meant tap him up!

01 Aug 2017 19:11:33
He is far too handsome for management. He will be on Sky next to Jamie Redknapp as part of a new double act; The Beautiful Men In Black.

01 Aug 2017 17:27:02
Reckon it will be a good game tonight vs Bayern. Looking forward to it.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 18:18:24
I'm really up for this one. Probably overly excited as I'm off to Dublin for saturdays game. Will be a good test for us. We shouldn't read too much into it if we lose. If we win, a different matter of course. ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

01 Aug 2017 16:12:11
What's everyone's thoughts on Renato Sanches? He looked to be a potential world beater 12 months ago, now a year later he's barely played football and resigned to Bayern reserves.

If we could take him on loan, he could well fill the Keita gap (Klopp must believe there is a gap despite having too many CM's already) until we reapproach RBL for Keita next Summer that could be shrewd business.

Believable1 Unbelievable11

{Ed025's Note - yeah..like balotelli..

01 Aug 2017 16:31:58
Lol Ed. we should really only be focussed on making sure we bring in players that really strengthen the first team - or else we should be giving our own youngsters the chances like Grujic, Woodburn etc.

{Ed025's Note - if they were any good im sure you would mate..

01 Aug 2017 16:47:58
Does Sanches have a similar attitude problem, ed?

{Ed025's Note - absolutely mate

01 Aug 2017 15:51:22
Ed1, out of interest do you think we're done in this window?

If not, how many more signings do you think we'll look to make (if you had to guess)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no and two or three probably.}

01 Aug 2017 16:01:38
Thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

01 Aug 2017 16:04:53
It will be interesting who you think the two or three could be ed. What positions do you think will be strengthened with 2 or 3 signings?

{Ed001's Note - I am not getting into that, there is little point on here this summer.}

01 Aug 2017 16:09:58
But then how will people know who to constantly ask the same questions about?

{Ed001's Note - they will have to guess.....}

01 Aug 2017 16:19:30
Wow Ed001! 2 or 3?
My guess was VVD and that was it. If more join, then they will probably be squad fillers anyways.

01 Aug 2017 16:26:18
Is it Navy Keith, the cow and VD?

01 Aug 2017 16:46:25
Was, you forget Ken Aguero.

01 Aug 2017 16:53:47
Is it VVD Oxs?

01 Aug 2017 17:25:48
Torres is coming back. Again. like last year.

01 aug 2017 18:02:25
" his armband proved that he was red, torres, torres"

baz.

01 Aug 2017 15:06:18
I've lost track with all the talk about couts VVD and keita the last few weeks, are we seriously looking at buying anyone else at the moment, anyone remember lol.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 16:30:41
I was about to ask the same question today!
Eds are we looking to buy any other CB at the moment?

{Ed025's Note - not as far as we know mate..

01 Aug 2017 17:03:47
Left your self open there ed1
Cue loads of questions and speculation.
Keep up the good work eds.

{Ed001's Note - ?}

01 Aug 2017 17:16:35
Should of put open to questions there, who, when how much will these signings be.

01 Aug 2017 15:03:35
Just a quick question, I'm not sure if anybody will have an appropriate answer but I'm just curious.

When other teams, agree a fee with another club for said player, the buying team or maybe the selling team, normally inform everybody, "Fee agree, pending medical" or "X player has agreed to join said club following a medical" via social media or "sky sources"
How come Liverpool wait until the player has passed their medical and photosยฟ

Random question and I know it's a bit weird, it's just something I'm curious about and I said if someone can give an appropriate answer because I know Liverpool tend to F up transfer ALOT.
Remy, VVD, Keita, Of the top of my head to name a few.

Thank in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs would rarely if ever confirm a transfer before the medical is passed and the registration transferred. And clubs don't release statements as "Sky sources".}

01 Aug 2017 15:20:25
Thanks for the quick reply, but I wasn't saying clubs have relseased a state through sky, Sky do tend to put articles up saying "Sky sources understands a bid has been made and accepted for X player, depending on medical"
Sorry for the mix up.

{Ed002's Note - The clubs don't make any statements before the registration is transfered.}

01 Aug 2017 14:43:44

If anyone is interested, the Bayern Munich game is being televised live tonight on ITV4 from 7:15pm

Marvellous and splendid

๐Ÿ‘.

{Ed025's Note - everton are on itv4 on thursday in europe if anyone is interested in quality football..

01 Aug 2017 16:01:00
Didn't realise you rated Ruลพomberok that highly, ed025 :p.

{Ed025's Note - they are actually not as bad as i thought mate..

01 Aug 2017 16:07:39
As the great Bill Shankley once said Ed025, 'If Everton were playing at the bottom of my garden, I'd close the curtains'

{Ed025's Note - thats in case the players seen the state of his minty house mate..

01 Aug 2017 16:11:48
well you may aswell get your excuses in nice and early ED25.

{Ed025's Note - ahh..you got that did you KR?..

01 Aug 2017 16:35:35
Quality football, my bum ๐Ÿ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - have a look in EKA...you may just turn into a blue mate..

01 Aug 2017 17:21:05
Surprised you're Still confident about the upcoming season ed025 considering you've spent vast amounts of money on average average players, none of whom would actually get onto our bench nevermind the starting 11

Good luck with Sigurddson for 50m, makes Salah at 35m look like even more of a bargain ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

In all seriousness though, I saw an article on the Liverpool echo today, basically an Everton fan who was saying they should be competing for the league and not just the top 4, and I thought to myself 'holy sh*t, id love a bit of what he's on'

{Ed025's Note - that was me ruthless..

01 Aug 2017 18:33:45
Mind me asking what you're on then pal?

{Ed025's Note - on a wave of optimism mate..

01 Aug 2017 14:36:32
Just for opinions sake, say we got VVD, who would be your ideal centre back partnership? In my opinion, I would go Lovren and VVD. I think with the support of VVD and the opportunity to build a relationship, Lovren could be very useful.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

{Ed025's Note - matip for me..

01 Aug 2017 14:52:56
Matip and VVD. No question about that. Lovren's too rash and his passes tend to be rash and erratic.

01 Aug 2017 15:56:35
i heard klopp has never dropped lovren ha.

01 Aug 2017 15:58:24
I would love to see VVV and Gomez think he looks a better defender than Matip and Lovren and a long side VVD would grow into a top centre half. both players very strong in the air and can both play and both have a good. And I would rather a young player make mistakes then the other 2 witch they seem to do a lot and hope he learns from them.

01 Aug 2017 16:07:01
How do people not like matip? He is by far our best defender he is composed on the ball and barely has to lunge for a challenge. Him and vvd would be great so long as they don't both surge forward at the same time.

{Ed025's Note - decent but a bit slow..

01 Aug 2017 16:55:43
OK- does anyone think that Klopp intends to play VVD in a back three? Otherwise- why give Lovren a new contract, why scout wingbacks, and moreover, why meet with VVD in Blackpool to show him videos of how he'd like to use him? What else is he going to do, show him a clip of a flat back four and 'explain' to him, "see where Lovren's playing? Well that's what I want you to do. " ;D.

01 Aug 2017 14:00:10
Great to see Klopp backing Danny Inges.

He's taking part in more and more sessions with the team and also on his own.

Klopp said it doesn't mean anything that he is not playing yet as they want to give him maximum time to get up to speed and be part of what we have planned.

Great news.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

01 Aug 2017 16:56:54
I agree it would be a shame to see Danny leave without being given a real chance. He got himself injured both time by just trying too hard.

01 Aug 2017 13:58:13
Seen that Van Dijk hasn't returned to training like southampton wanted him too? Handed in a transfer request?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 16:17:19
No he hasent clutching at straws again .

01 Aug 2017 13:57:40
@MK

Unfortunately some don't realise that this site is all about opinions, however, I'm interested to hear yours on the LB situation.

You stated that Clichy was in the top 3 left backs for the last decade in the prem.

Can I ask who would be your other 2?

And who would miss out but may be in contention?

Cheers.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 14:06:46
Evra and Cole for me.

{Ed025's Note - have you never heard of...leighton baines?..

01 Aug 2017 14:16:32
Milner.

01 Aug 2017 14:21:46
Are we talking about the leighton baines that has barely played football coz of being injured almost if not more than a certain mr. studge, who you constantly say has an attitude problem not an injury problem ed?

{Ed025's Note - studge has both im afraid waqas which is a shame as the guy is very talented, leighton has had a few injury problems recently but has been superb for almost a decade mate and along with cole has been one of the best L backs of his generation..

01 Aug 2017 14:24:26
Cole and Baines definitely.

{Ed025's Note - i agree EVO..

01 Aug 2017 14:53:56
Definitely Evra and Cole.
Baines would also have made the list if he played for a half decent team though.

{Ed025's Note - good answer..

01 Aug 2017 14:56:56
Evra and Cole as the first reply said. I don't think anyone else has come close to Evra, Cole and Clichy. United still haven't replaced Evra sufficiently and Chelsea had to use a right back (Azpilicueta) there at times. Liverpool haven't had a good left back since Riise left the club and he was only ever a decent player. Nothing special.

{Ed025's Note - gael and MK sitting in a tree....

01 Aug 2017 15:18:25
Clichy is barely good enough to play in the Prem, how is he one of the top three PL left backs of the past decade? Has to be Cole, Evra and (probably) Baines.

01 Aug 2017 15:14:49
Gael Clichy?

01 Aug 2017 15:23:08
seamus coleman :)

01 Aug 2017 15:45:02
Aurelio was a better left back then Rise MK, if he wasnt injured as much as he was. Evra and Cole I agree with Baines I don't think is in the same league as the those 2.

{Ed025's Note - the green eye of the little yellow god me thinks..

01 Aug 2017 16:08:32
Aly cissokho, Jon flanagan and Phil Neville for me.

{Ed001's Note - Baines was light years ahead of Evra, who was a lazy get that all the United fans wanted out for years before he left.}

01 Aug 2017 16:07:08
cole was on his own as the best left back followed by evra. baines was better than both on the ball but his lack of real pace stopped him from being right at the top of the game.

{Ed025's Note - baines created more chances than almost every midfielder or forward the season before last..

01 Aug 2017 16:54:42
Is have riise every day of the year over clichy.

01 Aug 2017 17:31:40
So is clichy there due to the lack of good left backs then?

01 Aug 2017 18:01:38
Basically Smp. To be one of the better left backs nowadays you just have to be average haha.

01 Aug 2017 20:40:40
Cole, Baines and (bit of a cheat as he only improved once moving forward Gareth Bale) Another mention ho is just outside the decade (2005) Graeme Le Saux.

01 Aug 2017 13:07:45
This summer we wanted to improve the defence. We've got Robertson which will be a solid addition to the team. Happy days if we get VVD (or other) to be first choice over Lovren or move to a back three when he feels it right. I'd still keep Clyne for a year until TAA takes over full time. Just not sure who the sitting defensive midfield player will be now that Lucas has left and who will break up the oppositions play. Or is Klopp more "defence" and "offence" with not much in between.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 13:29:48
Henderson as deeper lying midfielder in front of backline.

{Ed025's Note - yeah tommy...well out the way of the real stuff..

01 Aug 2017 13:34:12
Henderson, Can and in this pre-season Wijnaldum have played the 'holding' role for Klopp.

01 Aug 2017 13:49:36
So Ed025 you don't rate the water carriers like Makelele and Deschamps who do the grafting? Ever remember Beckenbaur who roamed about just off the back line. he want too bad a player.

{Ed025's Note - lets not get get confused here tommy, those 3 were world class players who could play anywhere on the pitch...jordan on the other hand....

01 Aug 2017 14:33:43
I'd have Henderson in goals over makelele Ed!

{Ed025's Note - i would have him in goal before karius shane..

01 Aug 2017 12:51:15
So VVD fails to turn up for training for Southampton! Turning into a bit of a soap opera this transfer window!

Believable4 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 13:26:24
Its coz Pellegrin is not convinced that the player is mentally ready to be training on a regular basis with his team mates. VVD wants out, Saints know it and a offer north of 60 million pounds will seal the deal.

01 Aug 2017 13:55:48
How you know this? He is probably injured and not able to train fully.

01 Aug 2017 14:01:06
Are Liverpool waiting for someone else to bid first before making their move? I have heard that LFC will not make a bid unless invited to do so by Southampton, but i can't see that happening so maybe that's our only hope?

01 Aug 2017 13:20:55
Think he missed the last train home from Blackpool ๐Ÿ˜‰.

01 Aug 2017 14:10:19
SG8, I think it will take a Transfer Request from the player, which I can't see as he will loose a big chunk of money. He will be integrated back into there team imo.

01 Aug 2017 15:56:08
Offer 60 million and 1 pound. haha in all seriousness we should just move away from him and focus on getting the defenders we have unto speed and raring to go.

01 Aug 2017 12:47:26
Hi Eds,

Can you give a quick opinion on Inigo Martinez? I've not seen him play but heard him described in the same vein as Carlos Puyol. Natural leader, tenacious, deceivingly good in the air. Is he up for a move?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - very good young prospect but I am not aware of him looking interested in moving yet.}

01 Aug 2017 14:11:32
Have you confused him with inaki williams ed?

{Ed001's Note - no, I did get him confused but with the young defender at Atletico Madrid. Gimenez is it? Something like that. Certainly not with Williams, who is not someone I am keen on having seen a lot of him last season. He lacks finesse, very raw and a bit of a headless chicken.}

01 Aug 2017 12:42:27
Berger signed 21 years ago, today.

I never saw him play. Was he a good player EDs?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

01 Aug 2017 14:40:32
I would RELISH having Berger in our team now.

{Ed025's Note - i prefer..wonchop..

01 Aug 2017 16:12:26
Don't recycle that old joke, 025. You'll only make a hash of it.

{Ed025's Note - nice zed..

01 Aug 2017 12:38:30
Hi Eds, do you think Ings will be replaced if he leaves on loan? On paper, we're fully stocked up in that position with Firmino, Sturridge, Origi and Solanke however with more games this season and injuries we could struggle.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - why would he need to be replaced? He has barely kicked a ball for us.}

01 Aug 2017 12:21:03
I hope we manage to sign VVD, I think that's the only signing that would improve our starting 11.
Other than that, we'll just be buying players to compete for places on the bench.
Our starting 11 will be up there with the best in the league with VVD at the back.

Lets hope we're more lucky with injuries than last season.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 12:26:26
Still think signing another fullback will be tremendous for next season. VVD and Periera for me will make us title challengers.

01 Aug 2017 13:00:37
Well with Clyne, TAA, Robertson, Milner and in an emergency Gomez I think our full back situation is fine. Clyne and TAA will be a good battle because TAA is superior going forward something Klopp will like but isn't as good defensively so will be interesting to see what happenes there. At LB two players which again are fairly even but Robertson edges it for me due to extra pace and the left foot. A RB can be bought next summer imo.

01 Aug 2017 11:49:48
So if the reports are true and we have walked away from Keita, and as has been suggested there is something in his contract that would allow another German side or who ever the clause is relevant to ( I know its not Liverpool because Eds002 has said) but let's say for arguments sake Dortmund come in next season with a 48 million bid as reported the clause is, what is then stopping us coming in with a bid of say 55 million? Surely it would have been better to accept Liverpool's much higher bid this season to maximize what they received for the player. Surely this clause is BS?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2017 11:58:00
I'd imagine Bayern will try and broker a deal for him in January for him to join in the summer, a la other targets. A move to Munich guarantees trophies, something a move nowhere else does.

01 Aug 2017 12:11:35
CFC I understand that mate but why would Keita himself be pushing for a move to LFC this season if he knows a team like you suggest will come calling in January or next season why wouldn't he just wait? It makes Zero sense to me ๐Ÿ˜ฉ.

01 Aug 2017 12:19:20
They did not accept a higher bid from Liverpool because they don't care about the money, they are owned by Red Bull and they put everything into pushing there brand. That means keeping Keita at any cost and staying the force they have become in Germany. If they loose out on the extra 20m but beat Bayern to the title this season i doubt they will care.

01 Aug 2017 12:22:26
It isn't difficult to grasp.

RBL don't need the money because they are crazy rich. They see having a quality squad with keita in it as more important than 20 mil extra this year

Money is pretty much of no object to RBL.

01 Aug 2017 12:30:40
Why sell to one of your biggest rivals for a fraction of the fee you could get for him? Don't see the positive in weakening your own team whilst strengthening your rivals! Why not sell to Liverpool for more money and not giving a rival team the edge over you! It baffles me ๐Ÿ˜ก.

01 Aug 2017 12:40:05
just a quick question for Hendos Heel please explain when Keita pushed for a move because as far as I'm aware he didn't once try to push a move through.

01 Aug 2017 12:46:46
With his representative talking with Liverpool and trying to broker a deal for him during this window surely you can see that he was open to going to Liverpool and with RB bosses saying he had had his head turned!

01 Aug 2017 13:01:46
Germans seem to do things differently. And Tbh I wouldn't fault them too much.

01 Aug 2017 11:30:04
Seen reports of Liverpool having interest in Ozil I presume this is none sense and the media using the Pipco story to come up with this

As talented as he is I wouldn't want him and can't see Klopp wanting him either with the attitude and lazy work rate.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

01 Aug 2017 12:27:39
Someone should tell Barcelona to sign Ozil. Would be easier for them to get and they can keep their hands off our players for once.

{Ed025's Note - they only want one...the rest would not get in their reserves..

01 Aug 2017 12:48:46
ozil is class. the claim for him being lazy is nonesense.

01 Aug 2017 13:22:16
I've never seen ozil sprint.

01 Aug 2017 10:19:55
Ed is it fair to say we have stepped away from pushing for Keita now?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

01 Aug 2017 10:43:51
I think the fact Klopp jokingly suggested it would take โ‚ฌ300m to get him is a fair indicator that the deal is dead.

01 Aug 2017 12:23:46
It's fair to say. now stop asking.

01 Aug 2017 12:32:04
I will ask what I wish to 87red. i've not asked that and we are 11days before season starts. don't pull people down with there posts snd questions, its what the site us for!

{Ed001's Note - no it is not, so please stop asking the same questions over and over. The site is not for asking the editors at all. We are called editors for a reason.}

01 Aug 2017 12:56:45
Fair enough ed. I genuinly thought it was. I'll try to be a bit more passive and not direct so many questions your way. Although im reading through multiple questiobs from others.

01 Aug 2017 10:15:20
Just read that klopp has said we will going for the title this season, I just can't see it.
We finished forth last season with the sixth best squad in the league and credit must go to the manager for that but 4 out of them five teams with better squads last season have nearly spent ยฃ150m each, city nearer ยฃ200m, only Arsenal have spent similar to us, I really think he's dreaming if he thinks we will be close to the title especially with playing in europe as well.

Believable10 Unbelievable9

01 Aug 2017 10:28:34
I can see us challenging if sturridge is fit and playing. He's our natural goalscorer and capable of scoring 30 plus goals. Firminho should play behind him. We don't have the best 11 or squad but there's enough quality up front to be dangerous. Our back line is the weakest link. Also we need Henderson to be fit for the majority of the season.
We still need a top class midfielder and centre back to partner matip.

01 Aug 2017 10:32:58
I think there are 5 teams with a genuine shot at the title (sorry arsenal fans) . I think we absolutely could win it, I also think we could easily finish outside the top four. This will be another fascinating season.

01 Aug 2017 10:55:14
you don't need to spend that sort of money to improve I would rather they spend more time on the team we have with maybe another centre Back (preferably nastasic or christensen) but anyway team should come first.

01 Aug 2017 11:02:03
Spurs: Not strengthened at all and lost White Hart Lane. Playing all their home games at Wembley will hurt them massively.

City: Spent millions and ended up with worse players. Zabaleta is better than Walker in every way even at 32, Clichy is better defensively than Mendy and not much worse going forward, B. Silva is not any better than what they have. Danilo is actually laughable; horrific player. Ederson is a marginal upgrade though and Kompany being fit will be massive so I expect them to challenge if Kompany stays away from injury.

Chelsea: Started the summer well signing the likes of Bakayoko, Rudiger and Morata. Now they have shot themselves in the foot by selling Matic and likely forcing Costa out the door. Don't underestimate the loss of Terry in the dressing room either. Not to mention selling good young players like Chalobah and Solanke. They have regressed slightly and having European football will be a big change for them next season.

United: Initially looked to be wasting money trying to fight fires. ยฃ75m to replace Ibra with a lesser player. Lindelof who is no better than what they have. De Gea possibly leaving etc. However it now looks like they will keep De Gea and the signing of Matic is huge for them. May just have fired them into a title race.

Arsenal: Will continue to fall behind under Wenger. They have replaced Giroud with a striker who will take time to adjust and isn't actually an immediate improvement. They still look like losing Sanchez and possibly Ozil who are both critical to the style of play. They have failed completely to address the weakest midfield of the top half of the table. Worrying times for Arsenal fans. Europa league contention will hurt them as well.

Everton: Spent big on largely average players but may have a shot of finishing above Arsenal as they will probably be knocked out of Europa in the group stages.

Liverpool: Signed a very good winger to add balance to the front 3, signed a left back which was absolutely critical, bagged one of the best young talents in England who looks an absolute steal. We do however need to push a commanding centre back over the line. If not Van Dijk, then somebody. We are weak there with Matip, Lovren and Klavan all weak links. We also have to try and keep Coutinho or we will face another season outside of the title race.

So who has massively strengthened more than us? I'd say Liverpool, Chelsea and the two Manchester sides are the only teams who are looking likely for the top 4 this coming season. Though I do think the title is up in the air and depends heavily on the 4 teams mentioned keeping their best players ie. Coutinho, De Gea, Costa and Aguero.

There is no need to panic though at all.

01 Aug 2017 11:04:55
He said nothing of the sort. He said it is incredibly difficult to set a goal as to challenge for the title as there are many teams capable of winning and essentially said 4th again would be doing well but with things going our way we have space to move up farther.

01 Aug 2017 11:13:06
I'm not sure we have enough quality to win a title - if you look at the defence it is probably the weakest out of the top 6 and, sooner or later, it will cause us problems. I fancy our chances of a top 4 berth but don't think our first XI is quite good enough for a title win. I hope I'm proven wrong though.

01 Aug 2017 11:20:05
MK Scouser sorry but stopped reading your post after you compared Clichy to Mendy, have you watched Mendy play, 100% improvement.

01 Aug 2017 11:24:49
shaneK

He actually said "we will be playing for the championship. We don't start a season by not having any ambitions.

If your going to pull me up about something at least get your facts right.

01 Aug 2017 11:36:18
2nd tier is hardly ambition. ahem.

01 Aug 2017 11:41:37
Jay if you had watched him you'd know Mendy is absolutely useless defensively. In fact I'd go as far to say he is worse than Moreno. He is just very good at going forward and at 20 still has time to improve. In the short term though, he is a definite down grade at least defensively. Clichy is under rated. A very reliable full back who can get up and down contributing at either end if the pitch. Mendy is scared of his own half!

{Ed001's Note - Clichy is crap, can't defend or attack. Poor both on and off the ball and weak.}

01 Aug 2017 11:55:21
To be fair MK thinks that when fit, Luke Shaw is awful too, Ashley Cole was massively overrated and Dossena is the best left back to grace the league ;)

01 Aug 2017 11:57:06
Got to agree to disagree there Ed001. He has been in the top 3 left backs in the league for a decade in my opinion. Appreciate and respect your view though. I don't think he is a great player, just a steady player. It is more a sad indication of the state of full backs in the modern game that he has been so successful, than because he is one of the greats.

{Ed001's Note - he has not even been in the top 3 at Citeh! He is woeful.}

01 Aug 2017 12:29:20
Clichy is a footballer? I was under the impression that he simply pretended to be one. Damn there is one poster who actually believes that!

01 Aug 2017 12:36:29
Sorry mk but your original post is a bit rose tinted. I agree on some of your points while others are a bit wide of the mark. But that's the beauty of having an opinion.

01 Aug 2017 13:05:28
Agreed mad max. But how dare I express it, eh ๐Ÿ™„ for the record (even though I know it was sarcasm), I have previously posted that Ashley was the only player in Englands golden generation who can truly claim to have been the best in the world in his position! I genuinely don't rate Luke Shaw though. Average player.

01 Aug 2017 13:06:27
Mendy and Bernardo are world class players. Walkers the best prem rb. Company back. Silva, de bryune, sane, aguero and Jesus.

Tottenham finished 2nd last year and played a large part with truppier at rb and where fine.

Chelsea have weakened. Transfers that didn't need to happen.

Arsenal have added 25 goals. Surely makes them better than last year.

United now have more balance. A good cb. A proven prem striker who gets in behind. A 2x prem winning dm. Pogba in his second season along with mki. Rashford and martial.

Evertons. crap.

Liverpool amother paccy winger. An alright lb. Yep abit stronger than last year. Not by much though. Well behind in this transfer window. Missed a lot of top players. Need to act fast.

{Ed025's Note - evertons crap SS?...only 3 at the most of liverpools players would get in our side..FACT..

01 Aug 2017 13:36:02
So that means 8 Everton players would get in our side. I do love your outlook ed25๐Ÿ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - i always tell the truth john...like superman..

01 Aug 2017 13:53:26
We are nowhere near good enough to win the league, Chelsea, United, City and even Spurs can all field better starting elevens, we have more games this season and we haven't addressed the problems we had last year. Salah, Robertson and Solanke are fine, but that doesn't address the fact we are soft in the middle and poor at defending set pieces, that doesn't address the fact we will have to rely on Klavan at some point in the season which will cost us matches and then what happens if we lose Henderson and Can for extended periods as we did last year, as there is no Lucas to fall back on now, can you imagine going up against Pogba, Herrera and Matic or Kante, Bakayoko and Fabregas with Wijnaldum and Lallana as your centre midfield pairing? We are the weakest link in the top six as we have the weakest spine, no amount of positive thought or blind faith changes that.

{Ed025's Note - a man after my own heart FMS..

01 Aug 2017 13:54:08
Come on MK. This is the banter page after all. Of course it's only opinions on this site. People need to remember that.

It's just a shame yours is wrong. ;)

01 Aug 2017 13:47:48
Ed25 post on the our team page the combined everton/ Liverpool 11. I'm intrigued to see who makes ya team? . It's only your defence and keeper I can think is marginally better.

{Ed025's Note - i will do in about an hour mate..

01 Aug 2017 14:20:47
Ok ed buddy.

Listen it won't be till about 2019 a new manager, 1 left playing for you from this summer that you realise buying 7 ok players and selling a world class 1, was a huge mistake.

We know and spurs so trust us.

It's a shame because your like 5 year olds on Christmas eve convinced that box is an iPad and where the parents who know your only getting an etch a sketch.

Leave conversations of productive seasons to the big boys and focus on your mini league. You will be better off for it. Finishing 7th is brilliant for such a small club. I'd count that as abit of an over achievement myself, I do predict a good quality quarter final appearance in the fa cup though, so pleanty to look forward too.

{Ed025's Note - fine reposte SS, but you know in you are scared to death that we are becoming the strongest team in the city and its killing you, we now have money and soon a state of the art stadium which will see us up among the elite once again while you stagnate and harp on about ancient history when you used to win things, be afraid mate...be very afraid..

01 Aug 2017 20:08:36
Haha nice one Ed but if ours is Ancient yours must be prehistoric. I do kno of a time when you won the league though. But could not play in Europe I am not sure hy (Looks around nervously) But as far as players getting in to your team I see your three and raise you to 4 I can think of straight away Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino, Salah,

{Ed025's Note - studge is made of glass or he would be in mate..

01 Aug 2017 20:27:25
What a bloody dreamer you are.

Optimistic, pessimistic and ed25istic.

Or just blind. Can't figure it out.

Your a credit to small part of the city you represent. You always out do Tranmere and that can only be a good thing.

Getting involved in any kind of conversation with the big teams is j7st going to leave you broken, with how far behind you really are.

I heard liverpoil have stepped up with giving to charity btw and are attaching a box of Kleenex behind the away seats for the derby at anfield, so just let them tears go buddy. Hopefully we keep it friendly this time with a nice 1-0, bored of those big results. Just like a cat toying with it's dinner, pure cruelty. Haha

Look you ed. Canny wait for the new season.

{Ed025's Note - you may be surprised SS mate..

01 Aug 2017 22:26:51
I would have argued with your point Ed like a woman who's man keeps cheating on her "You are wrong, he has changed, he is different now. " But yeah a little run chip the keeper and out for 6 weeks rest sort of proves your point.

{Ed025's Note - its a shame clfc, the guy has so much talent but his body is a wreck, i actually feel sorry for him mate..

01 Aug 2017 22:47:07
True Ed025, I remember seeing a meme somewhere saying he was an amazing hospital patient who's career jas been blighted by football :) (Was it on here? ) I really think if he wasn't so brittle he would be one of the worlds best.

A question about your team mate if I may be so bold on the Liverpool page but it is inkeeping with injuries. How are Seamus and Yannick doing? and do you think they will be the same when they return or do you think they will never be the players they were? (as has happened to us in the past such as Cisse and Torres and others and possibly every other club to)

{Ed025's Note - i would like to think they will be able to resume their careers with no ill effects clfc but you never know, they are both making great progress though mate cheers..

01 Aug 2017 23:25:14
Same Ed two quality players in my opinion. I know they are a member of the enemy ranks (As are you) but it is never nice to see anyone get injuries like that (Coleman's especially reminded me of the Eduardo one when at Arsenal) besides you aren't man utd otherwise I would forget my caring side and just play the laughing postman song on a loop to you :)

01 Aug 2017 09:47:12
I was reading an article in the Echo the other day about a solution the the Keita situation. Amongst other things, the writer suggested a short term gap-filler a la Caulker, until we can return for him next summer.
With Munich seemingly happy to let Sanches go out on loan, he is one option, though i have heard there is a rather confusing set of clauses that nee to be agreed with Munich first.
Secondly, it was suggested maybe De Jong or Motta could be looked at on a short term deal. They are both over 30 and both have a year remaining on their contracts.
Now, obviously there are many factors involved in this scenario, but it would be interesting to get the Ed's and readers thoughts on this (not just these players either), though i think i did read from Ed001 somewhere that he doesn't think Klopp will play with a DM at all, which would make this whole piece irrelevant!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 10:44:10
I would rather see Ejaria and Grujic given a chance to prove themselves, what's the point in bringing these young talented lads to the club if you are never going to give them the opportunities to play.

Henderson
Wijnaldum
Lallana
Can
Coutinho
Milner
Grujic
Ejaria
Chririvella

We have enough CMs, I cannot understand why we were pursuing Keita unless there are/ were plans to shift someone on.

01 Aug 2017 11:06:36
Ed002 has repeatedly said the clause for keita only applies to German clubs next season if I'm not mistaken. So either way we won't be getting him "on the cheap" as a lot suggest next summer.

01 Aug 2017 11:20:27
I never said we will get him cheap, but i do think we will return or him next summer. I agree with you Scarface, I personally think we have enough cover in the area, although i don't think we have a dedicated DM in the squad, just several players who can play the position if needed.

01 Aug 2017 11:28:21
Give youngsters like Ejaria, Grujic etc a chance than sign short term replacements. Motta will not come to LFC and De JOng is bang average.
I'm sure Klopp will make another attempt at signing Keita next summer, and if the player truly wants to be at LFC then FSG will no doubt stump up the cash. In the meanwhile, Gini, Couts, Lallana, Grujic, Hendo, Can and Ejaria are quality options to fill our midfield ranks.

{Ed025's Note - there is a bit of quality there IB..

01 Aug 2017 12:01:51
Unless we are going to sign a player who unquestionably improves our first XI I see no point buying expensive, mediocre players who are on the decline rather than giving chances to our youth players. It would make no sense to me at all.

01 Aug 2017 12:04:16
Coutinhos leaving and Henderson is the only midfielder there when fit who is top class. Keita looks like a great midfielder in the making. However I can't see him joining atall.

01 Aug 2017 12:31:08
Bit if quality Ed025?
LFC imo have one of the best balanced midfields in the league. Not a fan of the CBs and fullbacks at the club though. They let the team down from time to time.

01 Aug 2017 09:30:57
Have anybody heard or read about Liverpool increasing their interest in Leon Goretzka now that Keita has shown completely unavailable, or is all focus on outgoings for the rest of this window?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

01 Aug 2017 01:47:09
Was just wondering, if countinho leaves maybe klopp will try to Sign Brandt again with him being a confirmed starter.

Believable0 Unbelievable14

01 Aug 2017 08:11:10
Coutinho ain't going anywhere.

01 Aug 2017 09:15:17
I think to have Coutinho to stay for this season and VVD to come in and that would be a great window overall with the other 3 boys.

Sturridge fit for the season can only be like another striker signing too. Let's hope he can actually stay fit this time round.

01 Aug 2017 09:53:46
If it was possible to sign Brandt he would have been bought instead of Salah.

01 Aug 2017 00:56:52
Good move for Ings if it happens. Let's be honest, he would struggle to make the match day squad as Sturridge, Solanke and Origi are ahead of him. A good loan season with Newcastle and he could fetch 20 odd million at the end of the season.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

01 Aug 2017 05:08:59
A loan so to increase his value? If that is the plan for him, I don't like that as I really like him. And I don't think that is a good move for him. But who cares what I like and dislike anyway?

01 Aug 2017 05:41:51
Well what would u suggest Haizan? Have Ings play u23 football for the next few years and then sell him for peanuts?
Lets be honest, we have 4 forwards ahead if him in the pecking order out of which 2 are heavy Klopp favorites. Ings' time at LFC is up. Good player who no doubt would have done well at the club but its in everyone's best interests to move on.
He will want to play regularly sooner rather than later and I would rather see him scoring goals somewhere else than being fed false promises about first team football at LFC.

01 Aug 2017 07:58:31
I have nothing to suggest IB. I like what I have seen of him before, and wish to see more of him playing for Liverpool. That's all.

01 Aug 2017 08:58:28
He's just returned from a long lay off. Who's to say he won't force his way into the pecking order above Origi or Solanke? He's a proven Premier League goal scorer after all.

01 Aug 2017 10:08:14
After such a long lay off Ings needs games. He won't get that many opportunities with us so a loan makes sense. We can assess him to see how he's progressing and then make a decision on what to do next summer.

01 Aug 2017 00:46:19
So, I'm just reading the BBC gossip column (now I realise this is already a shady source so let's take this situation as hypothetical for now) and there's a report of Neymar apparently making contact with Phillipe Coutinho trying to persuade him to move to Barca. Does this constitute tapping up? I imagine it could be hard to prove in the sense that Neymar could be talking to him as a friend as opposed to doing this on Barcelona's orders - a grey area perhaps.

This leads me onto my next point of - Does it annoy anybody else how hypocritical Barcelona are currently acting with rumours of them reporting PSG for FFP should they make a bid for Neymar, whereas it's ok for them to publicly broadcast that they are looking to poach Coutinho from us in order to turn his head. So it's ok for them to take clubs' best players but if someone else tries to take theirs then they should be punished?

I for one hope we stick to our guns and tell Barcelona absolutely no way for Coutinho. If RBL aren't selling Keita why should we sell Coutinho, irrespective of whether he wants to go or not, he's contracted to us for the long term, it makes little to no sense for him to force a move as we're not obligated in any way shape or form to sell him and it's only his own career he would destroy if he did decide to strike over something like that (not that I think for one minute he is stupid enough to do that! ) . Interesting few weeks coming up anyway!

Believable5 Unbelievable3

01 Aug 2017 04:35:17
it can't be that hypocritical and I think we should be the last club to throw shade at another given our current dealings and also Stevie admitting that he was used to talk with potential targets.

Someone else used the term "soft tapping-up" which I think is a beautiful description of the grey area in these negotiations. Ed002 may be able to elaborate more if the sun is shining over there.! :)

{Ed002's Note - As you know it was Coutinho who spoke with three Brazilian players about other clubs, had his agent approach Barcelona and had Neymar speak to Barcelona on his behalf - not the other way around. This has been explained on many occasions. Barcelona cannot report another club regarding FFP - it is in the remit of UEFA to decide what if anything is to be looked at.}

01 Aug 2017 00:42:33
So don't say anything but I've been swore to secrecy. Jamie carragher has just been round ours for so. e cheese on toast and he assures me that we should all stop panicking about our defence as it's all going to get sorted. He said he can't name names but it rhymes with pirgil pan pyke. Not sure who that could be but he sounds rubbish hot.
