Hey everyone, just flicking through sky channels n I noticed that they have the kings of Europe the Chelsea story on again, Now I'm sorry but what the hell is going on? Why is it being shown over n over again? They didn't show us as many times when we won it in 2005, they had the replays the day after n that was it! So why keep showing Chelsea winning it? Does anyone know? It doesn't happen for anyone else

A back hander from ambramovich? there is definitly some kind of anti-liverpool fc conspiracy, and a pro man utd etc maybe same with cheslea..

Because we had already won it 5 times and this will be Chelsea's only ever one.

It's not really a surprise mate, even JT didn't get as much stick as Suarez leading up to his trial, and still absolutely disgusted that nothing was done about the supporters booing the minutes silence for our 96 and the poor lad who died on the pitch...I hate them too, but don't let it eat you up. We all know parking the bus does not deserve a CL winners medal. Who knows why the media prefers some teams to others.

Not to mention the non-handshake between Terry and Ferdi

Don't take young boys lightly. they play attacking football score so many goal every match.

Personally, I'd like to see Allen, Sahin and Shelvey get a few games together in the midfield. I feel like BR's style of play does't quite suite Stevie G 100% and it'll take him a bit more time to adjust.

~Fresh

Stevie g should take up the role of super sub, its the only way our bench will look any good all season ;)

I have been thinking the same although a fantastic player Gerrard is struggling with the new system
As is downing and Enrique and Carra

Leam Red

Stevie gee best striker we have

19 Sep 2012 21:45:25
I'm actually looking forward to 2moro's game especially with all the youngsters picked.

It gives BR's a good chance to look at them and see whether they can make the step up.

If we lose or draw then we can say they are only youngsters...

If we win thats going to make them feel 10 foot high!

This may have been touched one over the last few days but given time i think Rodgers will do well for us.

Imagine in a years time with possibly adding 3 first team players, the current squad and the experience of the youngsters.

I know its not Chelsea or Man City having 20m players in every position but u never now - desire sometimes beats ability!

Hoola

P.S. is Danny Wilson in the squad if not whats happening with him... Loan?

Nope, and not sure what the problem is but i see Andre Wisdom and Stephen Sama miles ahead. Really think Sama should've travelled with the squad, he's going to be an absoloute rock

Sama played in the NextGen today for us against Inter Milan.

Bit of banter for you.

Claire Rourke is class... And gorgeous!

That is all

hulmerous

I second that ;)

Not sure if I prefer her up front or in the box

Just like to clear up this llorente rumour..... Just watching Barcelona n the commentators said that Barcelona look most likely to be his destination, now I know some of you have a hard time understanding things but come on..... Liverpool?? Or BARCELONA ??? We need to be realistic now, a top players name gets mentioned and you Lot jump on the band wagon thinking we are getting that player.... Well I'm telling you that it won't happen ok accept it

James

No it won't because we are going to get jovetic

That's it then. If a commentator said that Llorente is going to Barcelona, then it must be a done deal. Thanks for clearing that up James mate. I thought he was off to Juventus.

Cheers

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Sounds like you're enjoying yourself James. Bet you can't wait to squash the next rumour.

Nope we ll end up with some obscure guy nobodys ever heard of most likely twud be my guess
avoorochie

Well Llorente will be Messi's replacement and Leo will join us in exchange for Joe Cole and a meal at Carragher's bar. Sorted

Yasil will score and he will slove Liverpool striker problem.

Get him on the promax, hit the gym then he'll be ready!

I think he will

and i think suso will play himself into the liverpool first team maybe not for games like manutd or chelsea but the others for sure.

So we will play him against the lesser teams but then in better players for the top teams? I assume that these better players will. It be playing against everyone else?

Really want Suso to shine, the stuff I've seen put him in the Messi/Ronaldhino/Cristiano class. Sort of dropped of the radar a bit in last 12 months - I hope it's about hiding him until we can get him properly signed up.

Missed two sitters in the under 18s but that could have been because of anything.

Id slove to see him solve this problem

Young boys are getting pretty cocky! They under estimating our second team and saying about our start to the season! Did they even watch us play against man c as Sunderland? To be fair saying that I dont think many "fans" on here did

Hehe - the arrogance of youth!

19 Sep 2012 17:36:57
Ed's whats happening with Joao Carlos Teixeira? We paid good money for the lad and i never see him featured. With the older crop of youngsters playing Young Boys i expected he to play the NextGen game today.

ChrisE {Ed052's Note - Coming back from injry}

He isn't even playing for the u21's {Ed052's Note -

He's recovering from a back injury.

He has been injured for the past 1 year, since he joined in jan I rarely saw him play, what sort of injury does he have? Hope he gets fit soon.

Sj

Was too old for next gen series
Tommy.

How good do the staff rate the Lad then Ed? I know we paid a bit for him. Do you rate him? {Ed052's Note - He is rateD and I do. But he needs time to get some playing time. }

Lets get 1 thing straight, Fernando Llorente will never ever play for us. There's a video on youtube that was recorded when we wanted biesla as manager where Llorente is asked ''What do you think of your coach been linked with Liverpool?'' Llorente literally laughed out loud into the camera and said ''Why would he want to go there? Its a big step down for him''

And lets be honest, If Llorente became available, Why would he sign for us? He If he wanted a move to England he would have his choice of City, Chelsea, Spurs, United and Arsenal.

Another football fan that You Tube, Facebook and in particular Twitter has made paranoid as hell.
JohnBoy

^JohnBoy.. You do realize what YouTube is right?... As in Llorente actually said that. I would say video evidence is the strongest and how would that have anything to do with FB/Twitter...?

LFC_JK

Well that never happened...

Maybe so. Don't tell me he lol'd into the camera just before he said it the swine.
JohnBoy

Whats he supposed to say?

Shame the boys lost 3-2 against milan. Then again main thing is that the players improve and x amount of players get into first team/squad in x years time. redevon

Most of our previous squad are on the flight to play Young Boys!! So think they did well against AC Milan. aklfc

5

Robinson
Sterling
Suso
Coady
Wisdom
adam morgan

all played in next gen last year now they have been taken with the first team squad for Europa league game

the players that is at u18 right now probably will take long only because the next u21 league will become better and they will spend more time developing there like RealB and BarcaB and AtleticoB etc etc in spain.

look at Tello he was 20 when he got into the team a barca and that was then only when they needed him.

Was inter Milan not AC
Tommy.

Hi ed. I no we have made a loss the past few years. But if we had no debt, no plans for a stadium or spending on players, would we be In the red?. Next year, will we have made any money or do we except a loss again thanks
Murray {Ed002's Note - The question makes no real sense to me, sorry. Certainly there will a loss this year but I would expect it to be less than the past two years.}

If we make a loss there will be no money for players with ffp rules, that's what I'm trying to work out. Fsg have said they won't spend and that we need to have made money before we can spend it. To stay in line with ffp rules. I like fsg and BR, BR needs 2/3 years to get it right and I'm fine with that. But if we are making a loss every year how can we spend thanks again
Murray {Ed002's Note - The FFP calculation is not on the overall profit and loss but on a separate set of accounts - this was all explained a couple of weeks back - try searching on FFPR.)

Basically FSG are writing off certain one off costs to tidy up the accounts. Next year should be better, and so on until we are in profit. aklfc

Thank you
Murray

Thanks ed. just read it and it's not to bad.
Loss of 50m, 35m was stadium plans. So only 15m loss within ffpr. And 9m of that was letting Roy go. So not all bad. next year will be better.

A little bit from the Ed's wonderful breakdown of the FFP:

It is not the full accounts of a club that are being considered, but just the relevantť income and the relevantť expenses. Excludedť expenses are critical to the FFPR calculations. To this end, all clubs will need to effectively produce two sets of accounts. An audited set which are provided to Companies House and the relevant revenue organisations, and a second audited return laying out the relevantť income and the relevantť expenses for the purpose of the FFPR.

FFPR calculates from a club's relevantť income and the relevantť expenses whether the club is running at a surplus (profit) or deficit (loss) within a Monitoring Period (e.g. 2013/14). From this the FFPR decides if a club has met the break evenť requirement or not. This is not met if the relevantť expenses exceed the relevantť income by more than 5M euros (an acceptable deviation).

If the club exceeds this acceptable deviation, the owners of a club may contribute toward correcting it to a maximum of 45M euro over a rolling three year period (30M euro from 2015/16 on). Example: If Club X made a loss of 50M euro in 2013/14 due to the purchase of players, the calculation will ignore the first 5M euro and assume an owner contribution of 45M euro and there would not be an issue. However, for the two years following, there would be no allowable owner contribution as the full allocation had been used. If Club Y made a loss of 30M euro in 2013/14 due to the purchase of players, the calculation will ignore the first 5M euro and assume an owner contribution of 25M euro and there would not be an issue. But in this case, for the two years following, there would still be 20M euro allowable as owner contribution to cover further losses.

FSG will walk away from liverpool if the offer is right ive been told.

In business everything is for sale if the price is right - there is no such thing as sentiment where money and profit are concerned. Liverpool FC is 'merely' an asset on a big company P&L ledger along with all their other asset. Exactly the same as everything in any business. RED LENIN.

LeBron James (Who already has a minor stake) is said to be trying to talk Dr-Dre, Snoop Dogg, (both LFC fans) and Eminem into buying into the LFC business with him.

Liverpool are huge in Asia. They are Number one in Thailand. Ahead of Man Utd.
With this massive fan base. They will be very attractive to an Asian investor.

The Accountant.

Snoop dog is the largest glory known to man kind, I've seen pictures in atleast 10 different football shirts.

Would you really want eminem, dr dre, snoop dog n co involved with liverpool fc..... I wouldn't want them and neither should anyone else...... They would bring in more trouble than there worth.....
Andy

! Liverpool FC signs new multimillion dollar kit deal with Sean John Clothing line. Also, new multimillion dollar shirt sponser deal with Beat's By Dre......Liverpool FC to name new Stadium 8 Mile!

RyanWhittington&hisCat
I hope nobody takes this the wrong way...just having a laugh!

Oh no Andy! Your not thinking what I'm thinking and that Snoop Dog and his homies might snizle mi jizzle to Stevie G right before kick off, thus having a detriment on how he might play?
JohnBoy

Yes we have so many fan in thailand. don't forget Hong kong, singapore too.

Bpen kohn Thai ?

If FSG did sell, dont gaurantee we will get someone who will splash the cash.

Not having a go or anything, but i hope were not overlooking michael ngoo, this lads got more about him at this stage than adam morgan, hope its not a LOCAL BOY thing again....?

Seriously? I mean, really? That's your angle?

Tell me, where is Raheem Sterling from? Born in Jamaica, lived in London since aged 5, youth system in QPR and only here since 2010.

Basically, it you're good enough and you can show ability to play the football that Rodgers wants then you'll get a chance. Local lad or not.

Ngoo, IMO, is a good player and has come on leaps and bounds in the last 18 months. He'll get a chance if he's good enough.

SpudRed

Ngoo has certainly come good this season. I though he might make the squad for Switzerland but believe he has travelled to Italy with the U19,s.

Mate if ngoo keep's playing the way he his this season an in pre season he will defo be around the first 11 next season .

L B .

Unfortunately talent and skill is not the only criteria, coaches are looking at personality, if the player has the correct ethos, and love for the club. I agree, would love to see Ngoo and Ajorodan? given a try in the first team squad. aklfc

"In December, Assaidi displayed a Man of the Match-performance in a home match against defending champions FC Twente, where, despite an ankle injury, Assaidi led Heerenveen to a crushing 6“2 win over the champions by scoring the first hat-trick of his career, whilst also delivering 2 assists and winning a penalty. After the match, he was applauded for his performance by Jans, who said that Assaidi deserved a "10 out of 10 for his play""

"Assaidi received another call-up for the 4th group match on 4 June, again facing Algeria, but this time in Marrakech. In a 4“3“3 formation, Assaidi was given a place in the starting line-up on the right wing. Morocco cruised to a 4“0 win, with Assaidi scoring his first international goal as well"

"Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hailed the deal, saying that he was "delighted", and described Assaidi as "an exciting player...that will excite the crowd"."

So I'm guessing this guys not here to make the tea, when's he getting a game then?

BarriTheHat {Ed049's Note - Tomorrow night.}

Cool, I think him, suarez, and sterling would make a very tidy front 3 - goals please chaps...

Actually scratch that - give assiadi, suarez, and sahin a go I think... maybe leave Borini at home shaving his stubble

Sahin is a midfielder I believe.

He is a real live wire. Pops up all over the place, full of tricks and appears tireless. RED LENIN.

Ed on Liverpool's site there is an e-petition we can sign but when i click the link to open the page i dont know what to do from there can any Eds/Reds help me as i really want to add myself to it please.

Liverpool are already thinking about potential replacements for gerrard, and are lining up a bid for either malaga's isco or Athletic Bilbao's Ander Herrera.

They need to start thinking!

Wow someone reads twitter

Actually its not twitter its as marca in spain who are reporting it

Where's the money coming from to sign these players, may I ask?

It's all over twitter mate - likelyhood is he/she has seen it there.

I think it has been proved that 95% of Tweets and a similar amount of newspaper stories are guesswork and prove not to be true.

Shelvey is Gerrard's replacement.

There is a 23% chance that 67% of stats are made up on the spot.

Andy K

23+67=90. Which means there was a 73% chance that the 67% was correct, so you mean to tell us that he's right Andy k?

To the reds from a blue, been on ur site a bit over last week or so for obvious reasons. Can see a lot of snipe aimed at the management! Just to say, outsider looking in, you are missing one thing, LUCK! I have never seen a team create so many chances and hit the woodwork as much as you guys have over last year or two! Seriously, what are the stats? I bet you have hit the bar more in the last year or so than a lot of teams have in the last 5 years! I know it ain't everything and I don't watch enough of ur games but it strikes me u play good football and just lack luck when it comes to ball in net!

Billiam

Hi billiam, thanks for even spotting that as a fan of someone else, there! BUT although yr absolutely right- can i just ask that after a season and a half of this going on, what's the point where it stops being bad luck and just becomes "bad finishing"?! there's got to be a cut off point somewhere :)

Fair spot Billiam, we need to finish our chances better but it will come. Hope you guys only finish one place below us in the league this season.
CR

A decent striker would be handy though

Not Liverpool or even football related but I have a meeting on Friday morning with some very important people who, if I get things right, may help me to launch a business venture that I've been working on for 6 years. This could make me a lot of money and I'm quite nervous as I'm just a humble chippy and not well versed in the financial and legal ways of big business. If only there was someone on here who knew about such things...
hey Ed002 don't suppose you're anywhere near Tamworth over the next couple of days?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Sadly I am not Chris, but good luck with it.}

HeyChris, if all goes well, can you buy us a striker and build us a stadium? lol

If it all goes well I may one day be able to afford a box at Anfield I don't think I'll ever have enough for a striker and if it all goes badly I'll just blame Ed002!

Chris in Tamworth

Chris i've seen you say on here a few times about young player - If your good enough your old enough, So if your buissiness is good enough they will help you, If your nervous just trust in your idea not in youself too much, Hope all goes well for you and please let us all know asap mate YNWA.

UCCM

Thanks UCCM, I'll certainly keep you posted

Chris in Tamworth

If you do nothing else get yourself a signed 'Non-disclosure agreement' (don't use theirs unless your happy with it - examples available on the internet). This may go some way to protecting your idea. Best of luck

Be confident. You deserve to be where you are, and you deserve this opportunity.

Hi Chris, I have been a financial director for one multi million business and also ran a partnership with 2 of the directors.
You need a good accountant, set up as a limited company and register for vat asap.
keep your accounts on a sage package and employ someone like me. haha. There is a lot of help from tax, vat and bank, so don't be afraid to ask for FREE advice. Good luck.

Good luck mate!

davethebutcher

Chris,

Get everything in writing which is verbally agreed. Record the meeting if your local laws allow one-party consent.

Hire the services of expert consultants for business valuation, project delivery and project management prior to meeting.

Get quoations in writing for logistics, labour rates and from product suppliers.

Focus on the essential services which can be provided to secure only those. Most anything else can be subcontracted out.

Look in to any bonding or securities required for work to be performed.

Determine your customers needs and present yourself as an expert resource of information. Salesmen are common but the true value lies in serive as that will ultimately develop and foster client relationships.

You will then be in a position to meet with businessmen.

- Logic {Ed052's Note - Good luck Chris, I may be of some help to you if you need some stuff, but everybody seems to be behind you - if only they got behind the team like this haha.}

Amen to that Ed052. Amen to that.

Good morning to you all, I have heard some mixed news this morning. I say mixed because different fans have different opinions of our owners. This is just rumour so please do not accept this as a formality, thing can always change. FSG are looking to sell the club in early 2014. In the meantime they plan to get all of the club's finances in order. Sponsorships will be maximised and costs reduced appropriately. Brendan has been told that he can use the proceeds from all outgoing playing staff to bring in new players in January apart from 10m-15m, the club will do their best to make as little losses as possible to make the club more appealing to buyers or investors. I am not sure whether the owners plan to float our club or sell to another consortium, but it does seem they want out quicker than first believed and are no longer willing to fund the club more than they need to do in the meantime. Stadium expansion has been scrapped. The owners did try to attract an investor, but that fell through. Current investors are not happy about the amount they have had to put into the club. Personally I think its their own fault for not doing enough research before they bought us. I hope they do not cut costs too much or I feel we will finish lower than Eighth this season and what consortium will want us then? I fear we will be floated and that could be very disastrous for us in the long haul..........EGGS

What time of night did you wake up from this dream?

Although a rumour. It sounds logical as it matches things I have heard, except for the time scale. I heard 2013.

Redrumours

Reducing the wage bill.
Selling players.
No stadium development.
FSG are saving more money than they would make by winning something.
It certainly makes sense if true.

The Accountant.

That stinks EGGS... Get some sleep.

Wow another person that can see the future!!

Don't waste your time on here - go play the lottery.

Your story has about the same chance as you getting 6 numbers.

I would suggest all reds fans watch the film 'money ball' it's the story of how a guy uses stats to buy their players and they buy cheap young ones and basically this happens for a small baseball team they win the league and red sox try and buy the guy and implement his ideas and then they win the league. Sound familliar? Not saying it's going to work with us but we can only hope. {Ed063's Note - Moneyball is specific to Baseball; it is only used in Baseball; it is based on individuals statistics which cannot be transferred to another sport. It is not used by Liverpool.}

Have you been living in a cave?

Chris in Tamworth

But the general theme of it can be transferred to any sport. I think Liverpool should watch it either way to get an idea on how FSG operate in their dealing s and plans to rebuild.
AnfieldUSA

No this film is literally about our owners watch it and you'll understand what was meant {Ed002's Note - It is about Oakland A's and not about FSG. The sabermetric statistics used are about baseball. It may be argued that cricket statistics are similar, but not football.}

Ed this is exactly what comoili did we bought Carroll most headed goals downing most successful crosses and Adam most goals/assists from midfield. Obviously a different set of stats but stats all the same {Ed002's Note - Nothing about "Moneyball" would encourage a club to spend £36M on Carroll, over £20M on Downing and £7.3M on Adam.}

The thing is in baseball, from what I can gather (I am no expert, but try to follow it when I can) nearly all teams play to the same system, and all have the same basic positions on the outfield. Catcher, 1st 2nd and 3rd base, short stop, Left, Right and centre fielder.

Batting, They start with a guy good at getting on base (whether hitting or walks) then another who may be able to get on base an move the first guy on a base, then come in with the big hitters who can hit the the ball good enough to drive these guys home or hopefully hit a home run scoring a few runs at a time.

Pitching, the starter has an array of pitches which hopefully stop the batters getting to base (strike outs/ground outs etc.) and usually last around 7 innings if all is going well. they have set up pitchers , then closers who are usually much better at one or two different pitches, but can only last 1 or 2 innings.

Everything is related to percentages, and a good batter will get on base around 30% of the time, there are clutch hitters and big hitters, pitchers stats are all about strike outs and walks and ERA's. Teams play the same way whether they play home or on the road, and starting pitchers play one in every 4 or 5 games

This can't work in football where different teams play different styles and formations, counter attacking, posession or defensive (sometimes depending on who and where they're playing) and where you try to keep your key players in all games.

Downing had one of the best crossing stats in the premier league, and he's hardly set Anfield alight since he signed, and hence why Carroll will probably fair better playing for Sam Allardyce and lump it up to the big man type football, rather than the pass and move possession game that Rodgers is implementing.

El Diablo!

But Bean is best buddies with Damien Commoli and is believed to have influenced Commolis statistical approach to purchasing players so the link between Moneyball and LFC is present, although slightly tenuous

cozinoz

Miinterpretations of 'moneyball' methodology is amazing. As Ed002 (the voice of actual reason) has said it does not relate to FSG as it was employed by Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta of the Oakland Athletics and is much more a comment against old fashioned scouting rather than standard business practise in MLB... But, sorry Ed002, Beane is a firm lover of LFC and Comolli remains his good friend and disciple of the principles and methods proposed by 'moneyball'. This said, Beane himself did an interview for The Guardian this year in which he suggested he would be loathe to suggest the algorithms from his methods would work in a sport that not consist almost entirely of 'set pieces' like baseball but he also goes on to imply that this does not mean there are no meaningful numbers in football that could identify undervalued players.
UN {Ed002's Note - So which meaningful numbers made Liverpool think that at £36M Andy Carroll was a bargain? Stewart Downing a snip at a little over £20M? St Etienne's Bernard Caiazzo had Comolli figured out - but only after the damage had been done.}

It's up for debate whether FSG fully employed the "Moneyball" philosophy at the Sox anyway, so what this has to do with Liverpool is beyond me. Shocks me how some people insist on dragging this up. I blame Brad Pit...

JF

FSG offered billy beane a 12 million a year contract, he declined the offer and stayed with the A's, two years later fsg and the red sox won the title using a method based on the system used by billy bean at the A's FACT.
moneyball is specific to base ball also fact.
I personally believe a similar system could also be used for football using a statistics system similar to the opta stats, but scamatics are in no way shape or form related to football.

I totally agree with you Ed002 - Comolli has been found out at three clubs now & I'm fairly sure Beane would think that all our existing numbers currently count for nothing in terms of future performance but when he employed the system in MLB it was appropriate and the scouting system was similar to that used here in school level football where the tallest kid is almost always the goalie. Their scouting system was out of touch with proper statistical analysis and Beane jumped in on that according to his book having been a product of the scouting system there. It would be good if we could base an algorithm on the skills of Graham Carr at Newcastle ;)

Statistics are used by every proffessional football (and probably sporting) club in the world. This is not specific to Sabermetrics, Oakland or FSG. United apparently let Stam go on the basis that his tackling was decreasing, later to find out that tackling wasnt an all conquering stat, based on Maldini having a low tackle rate but was clearly a great defender due to his read of the game. Whether Comolli used a similar methodology, I dont know, but stats have been used in football for a long time by a lot of people.

Expect FSG to sell rather then buy in Jan. No big names will be signed just sold to cover losses.

FSG OUT

It's amazing the amount of people on here that can see the future.
Ever thought of playing the lottery?

Seriously, you don't know what is going to happen, so wind yer neck in and jog on

We will only need to add a quality striker who can melt the net at least 20 times a year and we should be able to compete. We are making heaps of chances every game which shows that something is working. We are playing more attractive football and just failing to find the net mist games. The problem is that, the type of striker I speak of usually only wants to play for clubs with guaranteed champions league football. BR will have to be very clever and target a good striker who is willing to believe that we will return to champions league football over the next couple of years. Is Sturridge the answer? I don't know. He could be. What would and who would suit our playing style that comes into this category? On top of this, FSG want to keep the wage bill down . Hard to say but I trust BR can get it right. No pressure Brendon!

hi eds,do you think yesil will start 2moro night,really dying to c this lad play,also same for assaidi will he start do you think?ty ray {Ed063's Note - Maybe not start, but I think he will come as a substitute}

He's certainly ahead of morgan in the pecking order and he started last time out, i think he will start with borini and downing as the front three, henderson, sahin, coates, carragher, and assaidi wil all start, id like to see robinson also iven a start.

If that's your front 3 were is Assaidi gonna play then?
JohnBoy

Left midfield mate, borini, yessil and assaidi would be far too inexperienced to all play upfront together, downing will also play as right midfield but both will move upfront at certain times
