I can't be the only person who thinks Parker is useless, can i?

KT!

The only thing he does is get in the way of the ball

His second touch is always a tackle... That is to say he has an awful first touch incase the 1st sentence wasn't clear?!

Yeah, you probably can

McSnuggles

I agree with you im sick of people saying how good he is,he runs around like a clown on acid,tecno tanktop parker-ARRY

I think useless is a tad much. His face does a really good job of blocking shots.

I agree mate, I think he's completley over rated.I think Italy will give england a far greater threat up front than Ukraine. I am sure the England media is full swing in "we can win it mode", 1966 yada yada yada, I think the Italians could be even more dangerous than the Spanish.

I think Hodgson has to start against Italy and try and use him as a battering ram.

Bar scoring from a double deflected cross, Shrek was c*rp tonight, White Pele my a*se!

Rebel_Red

I'm sorry but I have to dissagree with you all on this one, Parker has been one of the stand out players for England in this tournament thus far. He's made many vital tackles, interceptions, blocks etc in the middle of the park. He's one of the things England have been missing and we at Liverpool was missing last season after Lucas's injury. Ok he has got the best touch and pass but I'd pick Parker over Barry any time and day of the week.

Shak Attack

Scott Parker can control a ball further than I can kick it.

Len

Rebel red if we start hodgson we have no chance he is over 60 lol i know what you meant andy carroll should start your right wellbeck did naff all last night same as young no idea how he get's in the team can play well just not consistent

Typical and someone asked before why we call them slysports

Macca, cheers for all the info u share. Iv noticed since the euros you don't seem to be gettin a lot of info bout transfers at the moment, this got me thinking that could it be Gerrard that you get most of your info from. He was kept in the loop about Rodgers been first choice the whole time (which uv always stuck by) and also u always seemed to know well in advance if Gerrard wasn't taking part in a game during the season. This may be total bo*****s and I wouldn't expect u to reveal ur sources anyway but just thought I'd throw this out there.

Or Carra! He's out scouting at Euros I think!

Ohhh Sherlock Holmes, nice observing ;)

BADGER

Are you deliberately trying to stop macca from posting? If you have any ideas about where his info comes from, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! DERPY much?

What the hell does Derpy much mean?

How is Ashley Young playing on that England team? 3 games and no contribution. He is making Milner look half decent.

Downing couldn't do any worse milner has been awful to,wallcot and downing or ox deserve a chance i think/ted bundy

we need to get theo walcott and adam johnson together with a striker(eden dzeko) is my choice

need pace and creativity in midfield, andy and suarez will come good once we get the midfield right.
our defence was good up untill lucas got injured. charlie was good aswell he had the highest assist.
the iclandic player sig...... is very good player for the future.

come on fsg give rodgers the cash. i like his style of attacking football. but i will always believe those american gave kenny bad treatment. kenny came in and brought stability to the team. rafa screwd the team upppppppp. he is an person thats why he cannot get a job. ask inter what they did with that wasteful coach. dam person rafa

Love it or hate it there's no coincidence that the new kit seems to be a design that will sell well in Asia, even down to the swirls on the sleeves.

And your point is?

For the last time, that is not the 3rd kit, it is a fake mock up

Point is he is right... but we dont care as long as it does sell well in asia....

Are the swirls not on the fake one?

There will be no swirls on the sleeves. That was a bogus kit. The owners are conservative, not retired disco pornstars

A blessing in disguise that Lampard got injured, Gerrard is now controlling the games as he does with the reds. He is now hitting his true form, he is a top man!

Evered

Gerrard has been absolutely immense for england this tournament. Just hope no one tempts him away...

I notices a lot of posts regarding Stevey G are getting 2 thumbs down...can someone please tell...it must be Gareth Barry & Frank Lampard!

No matter what happens with the Euros. Stevie Gerrard has been one of the best players there. Another fantastic performance tonight to add to his fine performances, in the other 2 games.

Hi ed16, I know it's out of the blue and as macca suggested GJ is likely to stay but a question about Dario srna. He always impresses at these tournaments but as far as I'm aware has never made a "big" move. I kno big move is subjective before any1 reminds me, but u know what I mean. Just wondering is he a bit like Stevie- as in a 1 club man/legend?

Ta,
Jason {Ed016's Note - "While playing for Shakhtar Srna occasionally bought many tickets for orphans. Besides buying tickets, he also paid for the transport. One time he paid for 920 children" Club captain and 30 years of age. He will no doubt see his career at his current club}

Cheers ed- great player from what i've seen. Sounds like a true gent too.

Jason

Ed, is that true? That's jus true generosity right there if it is, all these players that only care about themselves and how much they make (i hear De Jong jus refused a contract offer of over 100k a week at City) and Srna does that? He deserves to be applauded as a true gentleman for doing things like that.

Not a rummor just a word from over the pond in ireland what a great match our captain is having tonight such passing determination from him in the middle keep up the work steve and bring that form back to liverpool this year irish kop here

What would this england midfield be without Gerrard?He's a pleasure to watch.

phillyred.

I just hope he plays like this for LFC next season, instead of trying run every preverbial blade of grass, being more efficient in his play

19 Jun 2012 20:53:33
Another brilliant delivery from Gerrard. What a terrific tourny for him so far. England might be out if not for him.

AmRed {Ed016's Note - Truly the engine of the team}

I got slated on here a while back for saying that I thought Carroll would be better than Rooney inside 2 seasons.

I think Carroll is better than Rooney right now. He has done sod all to make me think he is anything better than average for the last 2 years. He hit his peak, and is now on the way down.

What I can't understand is why so many people believe the media hype. I know he scored tonight, but my nan could have scored that, and she's registered blind. The boy is average now, no more.

Nick

Spot on Nick

Chris in Tamworth

Rooney also missed a sitter, but no doubt that will be erased from memory!
AC should have started,we would easily have got more tonight. Wellbeck is pants.
Lee73

Don't be so f'in daft.
Carroll's going well but he's not in Rooney's class yet. When he's had four or five top seasons in the Prem and top scored we can say that.
And as for you Chris, you haven't had a good word to say about Carroll all season long.
The Real KB

Really...can we have a little bit of perspective. Rooney scored 27 goals and carrol scored like 4. We can't all be that stupid to think carrol is better

I have to disagree. yes carroll seems to be in better form but rooney is class and has won a poor man united team many a matches. i think carroll still has a bit to go but when he hits his prime he will be better than drogba was for chelsea.
derryred

KB let me qualify that I was agreeing with the posters sentiment about Rooney not necessarily about Carroll

19 Jun 2012 20:50:39
one decent cross from Young to Rooney who made a bo"""cks of it apart5 from that they spent the first half giving the ball away. Welbeck and Parker can't get into the gamer and Milner looks like he doesn't have a clue. Apart from that the first half was fairly uneventful

Redpath

Never understood the fuss about Milner - Id put Downing ahead of him

cozinoz

Milner tracks back on defense and actually passes the ball forwards...

Soldado will NOT be joining this summer.

I have connection in Spain and I'm assured that he will still be at Valencia.

Who are we going to get eds? I've heard negredo but is he good enough?

Should we get a south American or a European striker? I'd like to see a pacey flamboyant South American come in and excite the fans!

19 Jun 2012 20:44:21
Its a joke rooney playing he aint even match fit!
and the header he had was perfetic the reason he didnt connect with that header is because his wig might come off.

Carroll should come on with all these good balls stevies putting in box he has more of a chance to cause some damage.

ACHILLES.

plenty of ifs and buts here but if modric ends up a real, could alonso be on his way back? or even ozil?

Wouldnt join liverpool

hey eds i know you have said liverpool have spoken to hoffenheim about gylfi but has a fee or anything been agreed yet ?also do you exspect him to sign and do you know of any serious intrest for anyone else

thanks and please post and answer {Ed016's Note - Fee probably agreed. I think it is likely he will join soon enough. Just relax or you will go crazy this summer waiting for stuff to happen.}

Twitter is rife that he has brought an apartment in Liverpool already... Don't believe that myself but I would think a deal will be agreed sooner rather than later.

Young is much better than downing... but so are half the players in league two

I dont know from where all this hate towards skrtel is coming from. He had a good season so give him cerdit for it. yes him and agger make a good partnership, all the more reason to keep him. we cant afford to loose good players anymore. even if we sell him, its not guaranteed that who ever comes will definitely be better than him.

Hi eds,
Who are we most likely to sign this summer? Rateings out of 10?
Siggy?
A.Johnson?
Sturidge?
Tello?
Any others? {Ed016's Note - We don't do the rating, but I can tell you that the rumoured 3rd Kit floating around with the tribal design on the arms is a FAKE. The actual 3rd kit is a darker purple very dark and light grey arms v neck and orange trim. on neck and arms. Warrior logo and Sponsors and Liverbird also the same colour as home and away kit.}

Can you put a picture up ed?

Square tomato {Ed016's Note - There is one on the picture page. http://www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/images/3rdkit.jpg}

The kit still sounds hideous. {Ed016's Note - http://www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/images/3rdkit.jpg Looks smart to me. We've had a lot worse.}

Were can I have a look at it, Ed016 mate.

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed016's Note http://www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/images/3rdkit.jpg }

What do you think of the kit Blair mate.MATTYLFC

You'll never believe this Ed016, but I don't mind that !
Colours are a bit of the wall, but we've had black, green, grey, white, yellow etc, so we might as well do the spectrum.
But the collar is just right. I may even purchase one of those for couch potato'ing in.
The Real KB

Hi Ed, do you have a link to a picture of this kit? {Ed002's Note - The link is in the post.}

Another fake kit, the kit behind the first purple one has a purple collar and not a orange/yellow one.

In reply to the post about released players:

Amoo, Aurelio, Darby, Emilsson, Gomis, McGiveron, Roberts

There might have been a few others but I think is most of them

Did Amoo sign for PNE?

He did DAWKINS mate. Not official until 1st July, when his LFC contract expires.

I think the lack of info from macca proves how secretive the club are being with transfers now!

Or his source is busy, maybe at the Euros

I think what that proves is that his contacts are players and as they're a little busy right now they either don't know anything or are indisposed.

Only one man is able to get information at this time but hes gone off the radar.
Come back Daniel Hanwell we need your reliable info

Glad Carrols been dropped for Rooney. I rate Carroll and i think he had a good game against Sweden, i also think he will be in the England Squad/Team for the next 10 years or so. But you can't compare him to Rooney, whether you lot like to admit it or not, Rooney is our star player, so when he is available he should start no matter what. And the fact is, him and Welbeck link up well, they play the same type of football, and play for the same team. Its a no brainer. Hart, Cole, Gerrard and Rooney, there our 4 world class players who when fit and available should start no matter what.

Time to take off the rose tinted glasses and be realistic some of you.

OsgoodIsKing

I don't think anyone minds that Rooney is starting- everyone expected that, but, judging on the Sweden game Carroll should start ahead of Welbeck!

Hush your gums numpty... Carroll should start with Rooney, i mean you as a Chav fan should know what he's capable of, he destroyed your defence.

G BOX

Until you said "Cole" and "world class" I was with you. Cole is a very good full back. Lahm is a world class one
AD

You forgot Jack Wilshere mate. He is Englands best player by a country mile.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Hart is a good goalkeeper, no doubt - but world class - not yet.

In fact, imho - none of the 4 mentioned are truly world class - how many would be in a world 11?

John B

I agree to a certain extent but the big problem with Rooney is his suspect temperament. Yes he can be a match winner but he can also be invisible in games AND can also do something stupid and leave us with ten men on the pitch

Puzzled

Drop Young - he was hopeless

I think Cole is the best LB in the world, AD mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair are you basing that opinion on a certain Barca game? :/

Gerrard is Englands best player .... By a country mile. Switch on Itv if you're not sure...

Are you serious Blair? I seriously hope not. Wilshire hasn't kicked a ball for 12 months, yes he's a talent but he's not Gerrard's level yet and won't be for many a year. Just because he plays like a Spanish player, doesn't mean he's anywhere near as good as one.

Papa G

Didn't sign off apologies.. :/

Lee YNWA

I was a bit rash lads. I should've said Wilshere 'will be' Englands best player. After watching another great performance by Stevie tonight, we all know who is best.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

John B what's a world 11 got to do with things? Iniesta, xavi, ozil, ronaldo, gerrard and Silva couldn't all fit in the same 11 but there all world class. I guess it's opinions but I don't see how there's only one world class player allowed in each position. Sorry cassilas

Macca how many transfer do u reckon liverpool will conduct

Which part of "I have no news at all on signings" did you fail to understand?

Chris in Tamworth

Yeah and can you also tell me the score in our opening match at west brom ?

C' mon the guy don't do guessing he only tells you whats nailed on!

If itss not what I want to hear I don't want to understand the answer, have you not workked that out yet Chris?

19 Jun 2012 17:30:48
Its not a rumour bt I feel that if we take long 2 sign players in the window that they will not settle fast enough for the new season and that will lead to a slow start . After the past 2-3 seasons that's the last thing we need and our 1st 3 home games are not very helpful to liverpool so its gonna b tough. What do u think ed? {Ed005's Note - I think people are over-reacting. It will take time whatever happens as the players will have to adapt to BRs playing style in the games. I think we need to take time to identify the players we like and get them in - transfers aren't as simple as they are in Football Manager things take time people need to be patient.}

19 Jun 2012 17:21:34
According to many:

Martin Skrtle is awesome and should not be sold. Skrtle is rubbish and should be sold. Skrtle is a flash in the pan and only had 1 decent season. He's good but Agger makes him look better than he really is.

So many opinions but please do me a favour. Reread the above sentence again and then replace Skrtle & Agger with the following:

Reina & Agger
Carra & Agger
Agger & Lucas
Enrique & Agger
Adam & Stevie
Hendo & Stevie
Stevie & Lucas
Carroll & Saurez
Saurez & Bellamy

I could repeat this all day long but you realise that a team wins together and a team is only as good as the sum of it's parts or as it's weakest link. I think we have one of the best goalies in the league, one of the best CD pairings. The best CDM in Lucas. We have 3 full backs that are top 4 or 5 in their positions in the league. We have Gerrard who would grace any team in the world today still. We have Saurez who I feel would make any team in the prem and on his day any team in the world. AC is maturing into a hard working CF that no CD in his right mind would want to face. Thats 9 pieces to our 25 piece jigsaw. Add Doni, Bellars, Coates, Carra, Hendo, Gylfi(possible), Downing, Adam, Sterling, Robinson, Jonjo, Coady.

That leaves 4 pieces more needed.
CDM
RW
ST
An in the hole playmaker
A LB/left sided wing back.

It would also be great if we could take 45,000 - the away fans = 42,000/70% = 29,400. It would be great if we could replace 29,400 fans with 29,400 Irish fan copycats that wear red and follow our team no matter what, through thick and thin. give BR a chance and stop worrying what other clubs are doing and worry about LFC. The glass is half full not half empty.

Chi-Paul

That irish thing could be arranged.......from an irish pool fan

Little hard to read after a glass of wine :(

I too am basically an optimist (in most things not just LFC) but one or two of your earlier comments were taking things just a bit too far

Im soo excited to see England tonight play against ukrane, i dont understand why people say johnson has played badly i think hes been brilliant.

Scouse ben

I think he has had good moments and bad moments. Most fans only want to see the good points that's why they think he is so good. If you watch him closely though you will see how lazy he is, he doesn't track back and his positioning is awful at times.

MIKEY

I think the thing with people's perception of Johnson is that they expect a full back to be able to defend and he is NOT the best at this most necessary task of being a fullback

I've written over & over again. But you're not posting. Why eds? Please, post this one. Excuse me for copying & pasting.

Spain striker and reported Manchester City target, Fernando Llorente, will not be sold for less than his release clause, his club Athletic Bilbao insist.

Llorente, currently on international duty at Euro 2012, is being linked with a move away from San Mames, despite signing a contract extension last year.

His current deal has a €36 million buy-out clause, and the club have reaffirmed they would not take a lesser fee.

"He is a key player and we would not accept less, the supporters would not accept this," said president Josu Urrutia.

Many of Europe's top clubs, including City and Real Madrid, have been linked with Llorente but the striker refused to be drawn on speculation over his future.

"Now I am only focused on the national side, my situation with Athletic has not changed," said Llorente.

Llorente, who scored 29 goals in all competitions last season, is reportedly seen by City boss Roberto Mancini as a replacement for Edin Dzeko, if the striker departs the club this summer. {Ed005's Note - Excuse me we are editing about 100 posts here, and we can only edit a certain number at a time, post them, then move on to the rest so be patient and stop flooding the editing board with all of your posts and moanings or you'll be ignored. And it's not even LFC related anyway.}

Llorente will never ever play for Liverpool.
When Kenny was sacked and we were being linked with Bilbao coach Biesla, Llorente was asked ''What do you think of your coach being linked with Liverpool?'' Llorente literally laughed out loud into the camera and said ''Why would He want to go there'' Its on youtube.

We could of just saw it on a newspaper website like yourself.. not surprised the eds tryed avoiding this utter nonsense which has nothing to do with out club.

Tom.

I scanned the Blue s ite page to see what Moyes situation was, out've a footballing interest. And the bile the paranoid sad bitters are spouting-STILL about us. They really are obsessed,and vile.

Let them go if our fans are mouthing on their page then they should expect abuse

I also went on the blue site earlier too again just out of football interest,but i did notice one of our lot on there being an person and mouthing off, so it's all not one way.

This will seem negative and look like a rant, But it is not.

Castiaganos, Elia and Diame are all signing for West Ham.

Looks like we've lost out on De Jong to Newcastle.

Moses could be off to Chelsea.

Powell decided to sign for United even though he is a big Liverpool supporter.

Jackson Martinez is signing for Porto. Not to sure if our interest was real in him or just fans bigging him up. Either way, We lost out.

Kalou is signing for Lille.

Any truth in the rumours of United going for Sigurdsson? I cant see him signing for them, Fair enough he's a manu supporter but he would'nt get a look in with them, If he signs for us he'll be the 1st name on the team sheet every week.

Cole and Aqualani are not good enough.

All these players are agreeing deals with teams and we are been left behind, Hazard,Kagawa, Marin, Podolski, Giroud. All these players would massively improve us.

Also, What news on the rumours of Agger, Johnson, Skrtel, Reina and Suarez leaving? I would'nt be too upset if suarez left. He brings nothing but bad publicity with him anywhere he is.

Fianlly, I know the chances are slim, Beacuse we only signed them last season, But what are the chances of someone taking Adam, Downing, Henderson and Carroll off our hands? Hopefully if Carroll has a good Euros then it will get a bit of interest in him. We wont recoup the 35m we spent on him, But maybe if he scores a few goals for England we could get maybe 15m, Even 20m for him ?

It's the right time for big changes at Anfield, New manager with a new plan and a much different style of football than we have ever played. Tika-Taka is the way forward.

Scott YNWA

Terrible post and very negative! Those players are signing for other clubs. Full stop. It happens all the time. Who's to say LFC were ever actually interested in any of the players mentioned? Papers and rumour sites are NOT valuable sources of info. They're there to keep you interested to make money. Only BR knows who he really wants, lets judge him on that. And a dose of reality is needed! Players will almost always sign for Arsenal, Man U, Chelski, etc over us because they offer CL and more chance of success, at the moment! Simple fact. Our challenge is get into the CL in the first place. We need to be very clever in who we target, but it can be done ... proven by the likes of Modric, Bale, Cabay, Cisse, Lavezzi, Hamsik, Cavanni, etc ... all of which never joined their clubs for CL purposes. we need players such as these!

LFC_SA

Disgraceful liverpool fan

During Kenny's reign we played some of the best football ever, admittedly it was not consistent but even to watch it played in patches wa good.

Lots of changes means poor results and another new mgr at season end, where will it stop?

I'm glad we missed out on elia, moses and kalou. i'm indifferent about diame, castiaganos, but i would like de jong. either way but rodgers knows his way of playing inside out and will know the desired qualities for any position that needs filled. i am confident that nearly every signing he makes will come good.
derryred

You would still moan if we signed cavani, Honda, messi, higuain and iniesta by the end of the window. Liverpool does all it's business behind closed doors and we won't know about any ins or outs until they happen.

Getting fed up with all this sh*** negativity. BR is a bright young man (younger than me!); he knows what he wants to do and has communicated this very eloquently. People going on about de Jong but Ruiz scored 35 in 65 for twente and he didn't cut it for fulham last season.

Ruiz scored more tha Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam combined last season.

Its about the players mentality. sure morientes was prolific in spain but was pretty poor here, yet smata is doing well. it doesn't mean anything. do you think every league of ireland player can do as well as mcclean has done ?

Ruiz 2 bpl goals. Carroll alone got 4 ( shocking I know ) . Dont post things that arent true

The club are criticised for not bidding for players and conversely they need to give youngsters a chance, in addition we have had players out on loan who are coming back, do they deserve a chance? We have an ambundance of talent, youth and squad players who didnt get game time. The new manager and staff will have their own targets to bid for and they will evaluate our current squad, so I can't see hardly any transfer business being done to near the end of the transfer window. Out of the young lads, Sterling, Suso, Adjoran, Robinson, Coates would be squad players and Morgan potentially.

Evo YNWA

Our club gets criticized by idiots for not bidding quick enough, and then for signings that don't make an immeadiate impact. kenny got abused for not bloding youngsters, yet when youngsters were blooded and we didn't win he got criticized. then when flanno made the mistake he was getting abused by it for fans. with some supporters there is just no winning. BR has actually intelligently labled them as type 3 supporters.

As much as I like the guy and his spirit, Brendan shouldn't be talking about his philosophy too much.The media's always been against Liverpool FC. If we don't hit the ground running and don't get the right results to begin with, the media will blast him for talking about his philosophy so much before the all was even kicked. He should let his football do the talking.

If Lucas had stayed fit last year we probably would have had the best defence in league. I'd say leave it alone we have other areas to improve. Let Coates establish himself as no. 3 and Kelly as no.4 and see where we are next summer.

Id like, and think Brendan Rodgers will give chances to the following younsters this season:

Suso
Sterling
Robinson
Morgan
Adjoran
Wisdom
Coady
Toni Silva

I want all of these to be at least starting games this season in Europa League + CapitalOne Cup.

Harry5:)YNWA

Definitely agree with suso and sterling. And maybe send 2 or 3 of the others on loan to gain some experience.
YNWA

Don't forget about Joao Carlos!

Sterling is too young to loan

Look i also want yougsters blooded but i don't see it happening in competitive matches unless we are winning 2 or 3 nil. sterling was in the first team for over a year before he was blooded. that should give you some indication of when they'll get game time. would like to see themin preseason though.
derryred

I have noticed that some posters (not on this list at the moment) have said we can't play such and such a youngster as he will get 'cut in half' or similar words. But then they go on to say we should loan them out to other (lesser?) premiership teams for experience. Well' if you loan someone out you expect them to play. So they will still be playing in the premiership - just not for us

Cannot follow the logic?

Hey guys,

i am from germany and my father, brother and me will go to the reading game (20. October)... my question now is do you know a oppurtunity to save some money and have a cheap hotel, etc for us?

it is all so expensive there...

a die hard liverpool fan... {Ed002's Note - Look for a Travelodge or Premier Inn in Reading or consider staying in Wokingham (Embrook Inn, Oxford Road Guest House, Pheasant Inn all show as very cheap). Another option would be to stay in West London and travel to and from Reading on the day of the game. Wokingham is a 10 minute train ride from Reading although the ground is on the outskirts of the town.}

Try Agoda and latestays google them names and maybe you can get an idea and the closer to the date try again and book .Hope thats helped

Even better option High Wycombe is not too far from reading there are loads of hotels. You can get a bus to Reading for £5.00

From Dan H

The game is at anfield lads so think the man needs accommodation for liverpool ! {Ed002's Note - I used to use the Marriott by Lime Street but use the Hilton at Albert Dock. It is fine.}

Long commute from Wycombe to Liverpool, the game is at Anfield on 20th Oct unless its been moved already...........Ibis is usually a cheaper option.

Lol I'm on the bus from Wycombe now do I don't miss the game. Oh S##t I've missed my stop lol

It depends on what u are referring as 'better' i guess. different type of players, better at different things.

Hi eds, not a question on transfers rather what we already have at the club. Do you believe the likes of Suso, Sterling, Adorjan will get a chance over pre-season given they didn't last and how highly does the club rate each. Also do you believe that Dani Pacheco might get a chance pre-season or just be moved on. I've seen Suso, Sterling and Adorjan quite a few times for the reserves and they have all played well and obviously Sterling got his go, just wondering who else might get chances. Cheers for all the good work {Ed001's Note - I expect the kids to get a chance in pre-season, especially Sterling, who Rodgers rates very highly. I am not 100% what will happen with Pacheco, he was out definitely, but he might well be given one last chance now there is a management change.}

19 Jun 2012 14:00:32
I have to agree with the previous poster in some respects.

Although I appreciate that just because we look at a player it doesn't mean we will indefinitely make a bid...

But Newcastle have now made a bid for Luuk De Jong according to SSN (which generally states ''alleged'' bid rather than outright states a bid...So I'm guessing this is true?

But surely with a lad of this players promise, with the stats and his cost - we should be having a flutter on him...

What are we waiting for?

RobbehLFC.

We wont go for de Jong cos we dont have the money, Rodgers has got to do his business on a shoestring, thats what he has been brought in for.

I think we've got the money mate. We continue to pay compensation to Kenny and Swansea etc which all adds up. I thought Kenny was tight lipped yet NO-ONE knows anything with regards to potential transfers. I reckon we should judge come the start of the season but you may be right.

De Jong goin Newcastle ? If BR doesnt want him then stop whinging! Christ, no one can even sign yet and people goin mad at missing out on 'targets'. Hi Eds, what's your opinion on Mathieu Debuchy's, could we potentially swap for Joe Cole? If Glen is on his way it would be IMO a great replacement and would put another lump of cash into the pot.

RedLee {Ed001's Note - not a fan myself, yes he gets forward well, but he can't defend, is weak in the tackle, gets caught upfield, can't cross and his passing is suspect. Though it could be seen as a good like-for-like swap on that basis.....}

Debuchy is signed sealed and delivered to the Geordies. They are the team to watch next year. Good on them. Now a well run club, financially stable and not paying silly money for players like they did in the past.

i'm glad ireland have been knocked out, i've had enough of itv telling me how special their fans are. if irish fans were that loyal and amazing then why has an irish premier league club gone out of business this week due to a lack of attendances?

So it's got nothing to do with the financial state the county is in?

Because Ireland is Ireland.look at rangers they have a good support what happened there,and we in trouble not so long ago.some fans on here could learn something from the Irish fans and back your team no matter what happens and Irish teams don't get million from sky or advertising.OLE OLE OLE OLE, where here for a good time not a long time.
Anyway good luck tonight.

Because none of the irish fans are from Monaghan : )

Hi Eds & Reds

So anonymous poster is glad to see Ireland out cause he/she are sick of hearing how loyal their fans are made and blaming them for Monaghan United going bust. Well anonymous poster lets get a couple of things straight :

1) Yes, Republic of Ireland under performed in Euros, can't make any excuses for that, but our fans are the best in the world, the Irish fans are welcomed no matter where they go, never cause trouble and ding their hearts outs, same cant be said for their English counterparts

2) Monaghan United : Dont think the anonymous poster knows the full story. Monaghan United have been struggling for the last couple of years to find sponsors. Monaghan is a prodominately GAA (Gaelic Football) county, unlike clubs on other counties such as Dublin and Cork , where clubs have a steady following.

Coupled with dwindling attendances and lack of sponsorship , Monagahan United had high travel costs, given their location , the nearest club was an hours drive for an away trip with up to 5 hours for furthest for away fans.

Perhaps anonymous poster want to get all the facts before ranting

Just heard Ant & Dec have signed a new deal at ITV. I can't believe thats 2 more signings we have missed out on! What is going on at FSG / LFC?! How many more signings are we going to miss out on whilst teams like Chelsea/United/City/Arsenal are already making major signings. Even if Carroll isn't in BR starting 11, he is a great impact player to bring off the bench. If the opposition is just sitting back inviting us to attack, why wouldn't you want a big man to bring on?

So 35m for a person to come off the bench, good business.

Its not that bad really Chelsea payed £50M for a player to come off the bench and not make an impact

I think it's time we got over his price. Or maybe because Lucas was only 6m we should drop him. Downing was 18m so he should play ahead of Bellamy. Gerrard was free so he won't even make squad. Let's play people on form not on cost or value. CQ

If only Aston villa are interested how much do you expect us to get for him ?

Also do you think Luuk de jong and Mathieu Debuchy will end up at Newcastle or us with Top Champions League Clubs interested ? {Ed002's Note - Price is irrelvant. Chances of De Yong are slipping away so we can assume any interest has been dropped. Debuchy has not had Liverpool chasing after him.}

De Jong will go to Newcastle cos Tim Krul is his best mate. Also Debuchy the French right back will go to Newcastle cos Cabaye is his best mate! Well done the Geordies.

BR is looking at signing a striker from Chester, a left winger from Watford and a right winger from Oxford utd. For all those wanting to spend a fortune on the next Carlos Kickabout this will come as a huge dissapointment. Other who know our history will know what i am getting at. Reality Red

I do but I also think times have changed and the chances of finding gems in the lower leagues are very low these days. If they are not snapped up already by other teams and there much improved scouting networks, but English youngsters are not as well trained as those from other countrys. Any kind of creativity and technique of coached out of them and replaced with long ball tactics and so called bravery.
We will only find real gems in the lower leagues of other countrys, but unfortunately the bigger teams of that particular country will usually get in there first.
I feel English teams in the top tier will continue to bring in players from overseas until the whole football coaching system in this country is turned on it's head and we start coaching our youngsters the modern game, technique and creativity.
Long ball is dead and it will never return.
Continental football is becoming more and more a non contact sport and it will only become the same in England.
We need to start teaching it here before our national team slips further behind and our club teams will only suffer as well, forever cursed to bring in overpriced imports, or overpriced English youngsters because good ones are becoming so rare.

Right. Eds, please post this.
I personally think we should sell Carroll & keep Suarez. We should get a striker like Soldado. People will say that, we should keep Carroll because he showed a bit of form towards the end of last season & scored for England. But BR's style will not fit him. The thing is to get him scoring goals we need to adopt a style which isn't great. I mean he was horrible towards the start of last season. But Liverpool was good then. In the later half of last season Carroll played well but Liverpool played like a relegation zone club. Remember when Carroll was at the pick of his form at Newcastle? It cost Sam Allardyce his job. Because, Newcastle's form was terrible. We tried to make him score goals by applying his style of play. But it destroyed our form as well. The truth is England beat Sweden only because of Walcott. Besides, he's never gonna score more than 13 league goals a season. I'm happy that we aren't interested in De Jong as he's a similar player. I'm not a Carroll hater but rest assured that he's not the sort of player who can help a team achieve top4.

Quite agree, sell Carroll and also sell Downing, Henderson and Adam - Waste of money the lot!

Mate: de Jong is ten times the player Carroll is - FACT.

Andy Carroll played 1-game for Newcastle while Sam Allardyce was manager, coming on as a substitute for the last 4-minutes of a game so I would hardly say it cost Allardyce his job.

Andy Carroll only became a regular starter for Newcastle after Chris Hughton became the manager and when they sold him to us they were 3-points behind us in the league, so not in terrible form.

And he did help England beat Sweden by scoring one of the three goals - if he hadn't of scored, England wouldn't have won.

You say you're not a Carroll hater but you are making-up enough lies to discredit him and try to turn people against him.

And by the way - you say he's not the sort of player who can help a team achieve top four, what about Drogba? He has achieved top four and much more and Carrolls style is very similar.

JRG

Great! I personally think you are not right. I am sure the club is monitoring our personal opinions.

Carroll could not even lace Drogbas boots. He is much the better player even in his thirties, I wish we had him.

I would personally swap Carroll for Drogba and also give Chelsea Downing and Henderson as well. There is no comparison.

There is no comparison with Drogba? At 23-years old Drogba was playing for Le Mans in Ligue 2 in France where he scored 12-goals in 45-appearances! Carroll at 22 had just moved to Liverpool for £35m. At 24 Drogba moved to Guingamp!

Drogba didn't move to Chelsea until he was 26-years old. Target men are always late developers. When Carroll is 26 there is no reason why he can't be as good as Drogba. Look at his performances towards the end of the season, especially the FA Cup final, and they were every bit as good as Drogba's.

And by the way, Drogba scored 1 more league goal than Carroll last season.

JRG

JRG certainly knows his football he put all you to shame

I think someone(ed2) needs to hire a thief to come steal all of your keyboards so the rest of the world can live in peace.
AnfieldUSA

Great reply JRG. Everyone keeps comparing the finished product without looking at where they came from. Look at Van Persies stats at Carrolls age.

I've been reading this site since 05 when I started a new job and stumbled across it when I should of been working :) when it was just a football rumours site with only the one page. There might of been one ed who did things back then but he very rarely replied to anything.

These used to some classic rumours like "so and so signing tmorrow,press conference to be held at 1pm". Then it'd never happen but it was kind of exciting if not massively believable! And as someone posted earlier you'd hear about someone's mates dad who saw someone at a hotel and they told them that someone was def signing.and of course they never did.happy days :)

Now it's turned into an ask the ed's question and answer site.
I'm sure they ed's have got better things to than answer "ed in your opinion who is better out of...."

But anyway I wanted to stick in my two pence worth on downing,who lets be honest,didn't have the greatest of first season at anfield. But I draw hope from my friend who's a season ticket holder at villa who said that in downings first season there he wasn't that impressive and it was only once he'd "bedded in" that he was good and was one of villas best performers winning player of the year award a year or so after he first joined.so I'm hoping next season he will prove he's worth £20m.
I did hear another rumour about him from his time at boro and the real reason he was "out injured" for about 8months.
Let's just say it involved him and his personal security man being a top "distributer" of certain products In the north east.
My "source" was a lad who I played footy with who used to work in a bar up there where downing and "friends" used to frequent quite regularly.
Of course that is just a rumour/gossip but the lad was very plausible and had no reason to lie. So take it as it what it is.

So ed's keep up the good work and people keep the rumours coming in!

The crowman.

bellamy has been quoted saying he will be surprised if liverpool dont go for Joe Allen this summer.

Any news on the stadium macca ? I hear we're making offers to people who live in Lothair Road. {Ed002's Note - The owner has made a very recent statement on the stadium - does that not satisfy your need for information?}

Ed's will Agger still be a Liverpool player next season? Only, I want to get his name on the back of the new shirt. Thanks.

For whatever name u want, i think its pretty much safer to just wait first. anything can happen..

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - How many will be bold and get "Canvani" on their shirts?}

Iv gone out and got higuain after reading some rumours on here the last few days so im putting a plea out to john henry make my top viable lol

Hi eds, brilliant site. Just a thought. Do you think our current players would best suit a 4-2-3-1 system with lucas and gerrard/hendo being the 2 and suarez (left) carroll (center) sig/krasic (right) of the 3 and that would leave us looking for a striker up top with pace and a good finish i.e soldado/ rondon type player? You and other readers answers would be appreciated.Please post as my posts have never made it on yet. Thanks again. {Ed002's Note - Unless posts are abusive or nonsense they will make it on to the pages. What you need to know is that as soon as anyone types "Please post as my posts have never made it on yet." the posts will generally get cut. However I will let this go.}

I'm loving being able to watch footy every day but in a way can't wait until its over. Want next month to come along and know whats happening in the window.
It seems like the Eds think the Krasic thing is one of the more possible moves, I haven't seen much of him myself but doesn't look all that on youtube. On the other hand Babel looks great on youtube so know its not the best source of info on a player.
If there is a chance of Krasic going on player profiles Ill be appreciative.
cheers

ffs lets go for Modric and Mandzukic, we would be awesome

Padre

No disrespect mate but you'd never get modric from spurs, if he stays in england it's with spurs but rumours persist that it's straight money from p.s.g or money plus a player from madrid, to even think of getting modric is bordering on the lunacy!

last season we weren't actually playing that bad a football at times.

If lady look had been on our side i think it would be realistic to say we could have made top 4.

Unfortunately our club isn't that big a catch anymore to the "elite" players. we cant offer CL football and we cant match wages that other clubs pay by a country mile.

I know you see other clubs buying these "big name" players , but it doesn't mean there going to gel and adapt to the premier league.

Take chelsea , abromavich has bought torres,hulk,marin,hazard so the manager has to now play these even if he doesnt want to.

Id be happy this summer if we got sigurdsson,tello and sturridge.
I think sell adam and that would cover the purchase of sigurdsson.

Well it seems transfer bids are flying around, and deals are there to be made.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd have already made signings, Newcastle submitting bids for Debuchy and De Jong (if Sky are to be believed) and Liverpool getting the ball rolling with negotiations for Sigurdsson, and Man City being suspiciously quiet...

Most fans have an idea of what we need to improve our squad, hopefully Brendan and FSG can deliver and we can look forward to a successful 2012/13 season

The thing with city is they can just watch everyone else and see what there doing.
Then at anytime match the bid and better there wages.

quiick question on Sigurdsson - since he spent 5 years at Reading (ages 15 - 20), does that make him qualify as a homegrown player? {Ed002's Note - No. It applies to the window between 18 and 21.}

19 Jun 2012 09:58:50
If we could get Sigurdsson, Gaston Ramirez, Adam Johnson, Tello and Krasic this summer I'd be pretty chuffed to be honest

Sigurdsson yes swap for adam
Krasic i wouldnt bother with wrong side of 25
Johnson yes
Tello yes please and for the price quoted 8mil hes a steal.

I for one am very happy the way our club is run, I don't think alot of people realise how much pressure would be on the likes of city or chelsea would be under if there rich owners were to become lets say 'bored'. Our club is run in an excellent manor nowadays! People need to realise you don't have to pay mega money to get players who are great with lots of potential, because of name. I love football and watch it non stop but admittedly i never heard much about tiote, cabaye before they were snapped up. we need to have faith in Fsg just because were not linked with every single superstar. we need to be realistic maybe were in for a treat. Not many people now, i am looking forward to going to Anfield next season. Liverpool have not only got a bright future, i believe we will be alot stronger next season even if we only add 1 or two players.
SB96

Would actually love to know Ed002's thought on if he thinks FSG might pack it in one day. I fear those living in hope that Roman or the Sheik will get bored, will be left disappointed. I reckon FSG will sell within next 2 years. {Ed002's Note - FSG will eventually leave and it is fair to say that (a) they have been shocked at the rate the club hemorrhages money; (b) there is an exit plan; and (c) they will continue to give it a damn good go and being as supportive as they can.

They will not be looking to unload the club any time soon although there are clearly many here who want them out.}

At ed002, what do you mean by an exit plan? {Ed002's Note - There is no need to go in to detail about it but a strategy exists for them to end their ownership of the club.}

I understand that with the internet warriors consistantly trolling this site with abuse that it can't be broken down too much but just wondered if you considered it a positive exit plan for the club and its long term future?

Fascinating thread. For me, I think the biggest mistake the owners made is they:

a) Didn't have time during the acquisition to adequately evaluate the club's finances (which frankly are in terrible shape, although improving a bit- £50M loss on ~£170M revenue is enough to make any financier weep).
b) I think perhaps they were a bit naive as to the influence supporters in England have over a football club- this isn't really quite the same in America.

Time will tell, but I expect if the 'supporters' start getting too loud in opposition to them, they'll want out and quickly. The result of that will likely not go well for us as I think the one's we have now are really pretty decent.

My thoughts anyway.

He may be from the blue side of the city and he may play for the red Devils but there no denying that Rooney is the best striker ib England by far.

It is Chris!

True, however he shoukld be starting from the bench - that's the English problem, he walk right in when the others have played so well.

Its always happened, shoulkd be on recent merit and not you name.

The most over rated player in world football. To mention his name in the same sentence as pele is a disgrace to mankind

I think you'll find the most over rated player in world football is Ibrahimovic!

Come off it , IMO Rooney is the only truly 'world class' player in the squad, with te exeption of maybe cole or hart... And he will be more fresh than everybody else... You will be eating your words when he scores later!

I'd rather him in behind a striker than Ashley Young.

Rumour:

There was once an awesome rumour site where people would post things like:
"I was in the chippy and in walked Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso - both ordered Pie, Chips and Peas. Well, we got talking and I asked if we were going to sign David Silva and they both kind of looked sheepish.."

Used to love that sort of stuff, brightened the day and some gave you an absolute wet-the-pants moments.

Why all the questions to Eds?

If the site isn't careful someone's gonna do them for false advertising!

Agree! Miss the good old days of someone seeing ronaldinho on a bus. :(

The reason these type of rumours have died down is that the Fans know the big names are not coming and neither the players nor the fans are over the moon about who might come, so saying Carra and Stevie were in Tesco discussing the possibility of Allen joining its just not the same mate!.

I agree! That was back in the days of football rumours.

Hi Ed's just a simple question really. I was wondering how do you rate Jordan Henderson? I think that he got the main attributes to become a great midfielder for Liverpool and I think that he will improve a lot under Rodgers, and that the Euro's will help him gain confidence, cause he really lacks self-confidence. What do you think Ed's, readers? /Swedish Red

19 Jun 2012 08:32:38
hey Eds.....
city offering only 15 mil for RVP.. liverpool should put in a cheeky bid aswell he would be a great signing 4 us

RVP has turned down 160K a week at arsenal City will probably offer him 250K a week so how do we square that circle?

Please Tell?

When will it sink in the minds of felow LFC fans that we are not going to sign players who will gobble monies and overstretch the wage structure that we are trying to reduce. The EDs have repeatedly discussed this but its just not sinking in. We do not have a Sheik, Or Abramovich and besides revenue from ticket and merchandise sales will be stretched not to mention other commitments eg Stadium which should be priorities. Worse still we have no Champions League football and that puts finaces in a strain. We should trust BR to discover new, younger rough gems which will soon be Ronaldos, Messis, RVPs if you want.

We need to consolidate and build up a team. Imagine what would happen to Citeh, Chelsea if their owners are declared insolvent. Administration. Surely we do not want that for our beloved LFC

Mos {Ed002's Note - There is no chance of the owners of Chelsea or Manchester City being declared insolvent.}

Chelsea or City becoming Insolvent

That's the best laugh I had so far this morning

Much more chance of Henry becoming Insolvent especially since hes worth less than half a billion while the other two gents are worth many billions

RvP will go to Real (Higuain will leave). He won't stay in England and play for another team.

No Name Man

All this talk of selling a handful of players from the club and bringing in a similar number is ridiculous. Under BR I can see the team lining up in a 433 or 4231, our back 5 is solid and unlikely to change, add to that a fully recovered (fingers crossed) lucas and gerrard in a deep role, with hendo and adam as cover. That leaves CAM, ST and LF/LW and RF/RW. It's pretty obvious we're signing Gylfi, who is most likely to fill that role (gerrard occasionally), and in Joe Cole we have adequate cover in CAM. Haters gonna hate, but cole is capable of providing that bit of flair occasionally. I'd like to see Carroll given an extended run as our main striker, with Suarez playing wide on either side of him to take advantage of the extra space and giving him the opportunity to continually nutmeg and embarrass defenders. The other forward/ winger is out of downing and bellers, with the later the most likely choice when fit. Both players are capable of playing on both sides and can regularly switch flanks with luis. So other than Gylfi, we only really need to bring in another striker and winger. Personally I want luuk de jong, work rate is great, very intelligent give and go type player who could potentially link up well with Stevie, luis, gylfi etc, seems to score goals for fun and looks like a world beater in the making. For a winger id love to see us sign Gaston Ramirez, hes quick, has a bag of tricks and has loads of potential. With these 3 signings, we would see a more creative, lethal and exciting Liverpool team capable of cracking into the top 4. If the Newcastle bid for LDJ is true, hopefully it forces us to get a move on and snap him up.

Whatever happens, I have absolute faith in BR and FSG, and am confident that they will back him with whatever funds he needs to bring in a few quality players for his system.

I have no faith in either BR or FSG I must be a troll?

I do hope for a re-birth of LFC under a different owner who understands the great institution that is LFC.

Henry and his plastic Brand can go

Isiah

Isiah - LFC would be far better off if Henry and his plastic band stayed and so called fans like you went across the park and became one the constant bitters calling for Moyes to go.
No faith - unbelievable - WHY? Are you ITK about what is going on behind the scenes, and honestly who would you have wanted ( who was available as well ) instead of Rodgers - and please please don't say Benitez and his banal style of football.

John B

You assume much John B

I don't want Rafa never did

Kenny was doing fine.

I don't want Liverpool prostituted around like a plastic Brand I never said nothing about band (that's your suggestion)

Why do I need to walk accross the park because I don't share your opinion?

I have many reasons why I don't want Henry here's a couple - Lets see Henry is given shares out in return for business dealings, eventually LFC will have to pay a dividend to make good on these shares, (or the shareholders will be unhappy) its not a family business and will the Owners ALL of then be happy with a small return? If not how will that impact on LFC and the pursuits of Players and their success on the field in the future?

Henry knows little of football and his MGT structure seems weak, maybe you don't agree? What direction are we going in?

Please show me the positive signs?

BR I wish him well but he won't get this 10 year plan people seem to think is in place, I have no faith in BR coming in and doing what needs to be done, as quite simply he does not have the experience, nothing against the man personally.

We have had 3 managers in 2 years and if BR does not get top 4 he will follow those who preceeded him, we have no visible plan no long term strategy, people have remarked about the lack of leadership at anfield last year, is this all tripe?

The future does not bode well or can you tell otherwise, over optimism is foolhardy.

FSG are in over ther heads they assumed it would be much easier then it is in England, I have seen this in business many times with American owners.

So no I am no walking accross the park I am waiting for a better day!

Isiah {Ed002's Note - I thought it was four managers in two years?}

Ed002 Apologies I Forgot about Rafa

Isiah {Ed002's Note - No need to apologise.}

He gave about .5% to Lebron James, thats the only giving out shares I've heard of, and it's just a novelty for Lebron! So you also think Henry is going to fire BR after paying 7m for him? Doubtful! If we are honest with ourselves, Rafa was awful, he had to go! Roy was never wanted, he was booed at Anfield sure, so the owners made a good impression and got in a legend like Dalglish. He was never ever the long time solution, he was a stop-gap and I expected him to go this year regardless of results! It's logical that the Owners are trying to build a legacy here where we have talent in the squad, can attract a top quality player when snd if needed and finally have a steady stream of youth being promoted from the academy. BR is logically the nest candidate as he can build us a legacy, at the age of 39 has 20 yrs of experience and not to mention he's fluent in Spanish and soon italian aswell so he can place his vision forward to the majority of foreign players. And thats not even mentioning how articulate he is!

They aren't going to invest the money needed for a new stadium nor players to get us challenging for the league.

The image of the club has been tarnished severly over the last year which surely has damaged its worth.

FSG will be hounded out within the next 2 years like H&G.

Why is everyone so pro FSG? Isiah is not a sheep and there are many more like him out there. Yes give FSG & Rodgers time, but take off the rose tinted glasses and don't settle for mediocrity.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

He gave about .5% to Lebron James

True

He also gave other shares to others

Need to read up.

I have it on good authority that the owners have given BR a very healthy transfer budget of £50m to spend, but this is to cover the full season i.e. if all goes in the summer, he will not be given more in January.

A number of prime targets have been identified, with the funds being utalised on 4 or 5 players and not one 'big' signing, but the club are happy to play the waiting game.

The general opinion is that clubs like Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid (i.e. the big spenders) will be filling their boots after the Euros have finished, and will result in a good number of their existing players being unhappy and, hence, available for transfer at a cut price.

Interest has been registered in: Ozil, Modirc (no chance I know), Walcot, Allen, Milner, Zaha, Alonso, Dawson & Huddleston.

Obviously we will not get them all and, with the excpetion of Dawson and Zaha, they are all midfielders, but they are all I am aware of.

A very Risky strategy by all accounts?

Any interest in Walcott?

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

19 Jun 2012 08:05:04
I know this ain't exactly shocking news but I have it on good authority that Sigurdsson is as much as a done deal and we definately interested in Krasic, though we are currently looking at many players. For all those Torres lovers there is no chance of him coming back he is viewed as a pain in the neck by certain senior players. I rarely post on here but when I do it is always spot on.

Henry would not give a flying "fig" about the opinions of Senior players.

Hi eds can I ask you a question, who in your opinion. Is better out of luuk de Jong and soldado? Also, people moaning about us not going for de Jong, in all fairness is an 8m forward who can't get in, in front of huntalaar really good enough? Also, I can't see glen leaving as he will only go to a top club ie Madrid etc, we would still get 15m for him at least which rules out most clubs for a 'bookend' {Ed002's Note - I really do not want to start ranking players against each other.} Sorry.}

Morning Ed's,

Brilliant site, one that I have to check every day!

I may be asking a question that you guys have already answered so sorry.

The Johnson rumours, where have they came from?
Is it the club or is it Johnson that this has come from.

I still think he is one of the best full backs about, he has his moments but majority of the time he's consistent and decent going forward. Also one of the stand out performers for England this euro's.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I rarely have idea where specific rumours have come from.}

19 Jun 2012 07:23:13
Hi Eds I think that we should look to the future and sign players like Isaac Cuenca, Christian Tello, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Joselu the first two are believe to be available for £8 million each. Sigurdsson deal will be slightly more than what Swansea agreed. Joselu scored 25 goals last year for the b team and is highly rated by madrid but the player wants to play first team football and it's unlikely that he'll get with the likes of ronaldo in front of him. Should be able to get him for £7 million then I think we have a team that will then finish in the top 4 most have first team exp especially the first two playing for barca's last year

Mark the red

I totally agree with you mate i think all three you mentioned would be great additions and in my opinion the best way for the club rather than paying top money for 'big names' i would never want to see Liverpool run like city or chelsea. there's only one way there club will end eventually!!

Younger progressive players will be BR focus.
Players he can mould into his style.
would love Joselu to come, such a natural.

What do you think eds. I know that this is what the owners want but do you think this is way or will the owners demand players that will become an instant success

19 Jun 2012 06:33:00
A few things,
I am on this site everyday. This is the only site I visit religously. I for one thank the eds for this site, and their hard work. As for us supporters, stop with the bitching and moaning. I recall a debate which said Im not a true fan because I don't attend every game. I obviously cant but pay for the satellite that let's me watch every game. I for one am tired of people saying players arent of pools quality, there going to be stuck mid table etc....im also annoyed that people still complain about fsg and Henry, and always slate the fact they are american. So what they bought the team, and eliminated the debt. Now that the debt is gone all I read is we need super wealth to compete, this is crap. People rome wasn't built in a year. Support the team no matter what. Its the club above all else, win lose or draw.

How long did it take to build Rome? Thats more likely how long it will take to get our club back up there at this rate.

Lets hope Rodgers really is that good, cause big name players arent coming.

Hi EDS, more of a query than anything else. What is the situation with Darijo Srna? Would he be available and do you think he could replace Johnson or do you see him more as a right sided midfielder?

Coily {Ed002's Note - Srna would I am sure be available but given he must be 30 I would doubt there would be much interest from Liverpool.}

Hi Eds, this isn't a rumour, or a transfer question really. You guys seem to know your stuff when it comes to inside knowledge, so...

I've noticed Ed005 saying that there may be concerns of Doumbia's real age. I remember something similar happening a while ago with a few other African players. Is there genuinely a problem with African footballers and their age?

There is no confirmation that I know of in terms of this, but I remember reading a long time ago that an Italian club signed a player who was 22, but turned out to be 36 or something. {Ed002's Note - There have been issues with a number of players claiming to be younger than they are - Freddy Adu is another. I doubt at this point it would hold up any transfer.}

Thanks, Aussi Red {Ed002's Note - I'll ask.}

Hi Eds I have a question. do you think the club is looking at bringing in more uruguayan talent because in my opinion Uruguay is becoming the international powerhouse they used to be and are full of talented players. So my 2 main questions are is the club actually interested in building a urugauyan foundation for the future and do any of the eds think it would be a good idea? I dream of seeing suarez alongside Abel hernan and Ramirez and don't think it's too unrealistic if we build around Suarez who is our biggest gem. He is a creative genius who any top club would be lucky to have and he is our link to a country who have immense talent. Do any of the eds understand what I'm trying to ask or share my opinion? Sorry if my writings a bit confusing.
Thanks and love the site!
Et {Ed016's Note - I believe we now have a fantastic relationship with the team we got Coates from. I would be surprised if we didn't have first option on there youth}

I'm sure the club have already agreed to this mate or were close to an agreement.

DaveyBootle {Ed002's Note - It is not quite as simple as that but there is an agreement with Nacional regarding youth development.}

At least comolli did one good thing

If any of our players or staff ever came on this site, i'd be deeply ashamed at some of the rubbish they'd see on here... It's getting beyond disgusting now. It's getting to a point where i STILL have total, complete, 100% faith in this club. It's actually a fair chunk of the fanbase i'm beginning to lose faith in...

I'd really love to know if it's really getting that bad, or if these angry unsupportive fans are just a tiny minority, albeit a much more vocal one.
It honestly hurts more than any matchday loss we could suffer.

Red7. {Ed016's Note - It's just people trolling. Ignore the negative. Plenty of sensible people still. }

dont get why everyone is saying we have missed out on LDJ. quite frankly i dont remember us bidding for him? we had known interest under dalglish. we dont have any KNOWN interest since BR came aboard. let mes stress the word known. he very well could have interest in him. if he does he probably figured no one would bid for him quite so soon. so that just means we now have to bid to if we truly want him. so lets all take a step back. the window hasnt opened yet and you are all complaining. in some instances for good reason but just because we aren't anouncing who we are signing like chelsea and Arsenal does not mean we are not working on it. lets stop being so sheepish and stop being fed by the public. for god sake think for yourselves.

that is all good luck eds putting up with this its a tad bit ridiculous. 90% of the time the newspapers are wrong and people still go back to believing them. Koptalk is the same way......

BostonRedBlox

We haven't actually bid for anyone...

Hi Eds & Reds,

Ireland may have been played off the park over 3 games, results dont lie, but listening to our fans singing The Fields of Athenry, tonight and all 3 matches makes me proud to be an Irish Red, supporting your team through goods times and bad,that what its about.

In a tournament where tensions have been running high between certain supporters, the Irish fans have been welcomed and embraced by the local fans, so much so that the Mayor of Gdansk has proposed the Irish fans for a UEFA Fair Play Award, just goes to show how passionate well behaved fans can held in such esteem.

Irish, Red and proud of fans,

{Ed005's Note - The Republic of Ireland fans have been excellent all tournament even though they've had little to shout about so I'm sure they'd be good candidates for the fair play award.}

Wondering if it would be possible to swap the moaners, groaners, and negative numpties on here for the Irish fans? Fantastic support that- would love to see Anfield rocking like that even if the game/season isn't going well.

It's the day trippers. Same as the club from Salford.

DaveyBootle

Agree that its amazing support from the Irish lads, but arent they spoiling their players somewhat? They were absolutely awful in this tournament and didnt deserve that great support IMO.

At what point do the players take that support for granted and think they are just there for the crack as well?

Im not advocating booing or anything, but if supporters feel let down by their team (certainly over a succession of games, rather than one-off), they should let the players know.

I would be a bit embarrassed if we became a bunch of supporters who just sang and sang and sang, regardless of the performance of our team. Defeats the object.

Just my opinion.

Red G

As an Irishman I would prefer less signing and more talent & heart on the pitch.

I refuse to watch any more games if Dunne is playing! Least give younger players a chance who are up for it.

I think we should wait and see who Newcastle bid for an go in for them... Lol
Look at there buys they got...

We may well have on a frequent basis too if Redknapp was our manager, not Rodgers.

hello eds quick question; who is a better striker,
Jackson Martinez "OR" Salomon Rondon
{Ed005's Note - Salomon Rondon by a mile in my opinion.}

Just a question for the edds. When a club signs a shirt deal like Lfc have with warrior do the club get ant money from the shirt sales or does it go to the manufacturer in exchange for the yearly deal the club get.

Cheers

Bilverstone
YNWA

JFT96
{Ed005's Note - No idea how it works mate but I'm sure Warrior get a cut of the shirt sales - a pretty big cut but to see the publicity of sponsoring a club like Liverpool is the biggest thing for them - especially now that they have managed to break into Europe.}

I bet there isn't a day goes by when Torres doesn't regret leaving Liverpool. Yeah he might have won the CL but was a bit part player he wasn't even allowed to take a penalty. Now Drogbas gone he hoped to become the main man but they are likely to sign Hulk to play Drogbas role leaving Torres kicking his heals unlucky Fernando you will never ever recieve the adulation and love you got at Anfield. What a waste what a shame.

Not a waste we go 50mil for him ahah

Jpow_LFC

Forget him. Drop the bitterness and cynicism.

Chelsea fans actually seem to like and support him even though he has been dire. Makes u think...
