Hi Ed. If we are to make another signing, who is the likeliest to join in your opinion? Surely a defender is next priority, or maybe a backup striker?

19 Jul 2011 23:48:47
ed who is this marco bueno and is he any good

19 Jul 2011 23:48:36
We sign a Mexican kid. There's our striker. He could be good. I like these Lucha Libre players.

19 Jul 2011 23:43:39
Hi ed. Do u know whats happening with poulsen. He must go in my opinion. Also which left back do u think we are most likely to sign. Cheers

19 Jul 2011 23:33:12
Any truth that we are in talks with Mexican: Marco Bueno?

the familiar face at anfield next season is gerry marsden - to fire up the crowd, not staunton as kk as already said, and we sign a copa america striker guaranteed, that is why we pulled out of wickham transfer

I live in Montevideo. One of my mates is from Rosario and he grew up with Godin. I just asked him about any potential move for Godin this summer - Liverpool or anywhere - and was informed that he is happy and staying put where he is. So, lets put this Godin rumour to bed once and for all...

Thanks to all those who replied to my regarding Ronnie Moran earlier, it ended up in rumours, I must have hit wrong button, perhaps some fellow reds or Eds may know how we may go bout rewarding him with the recognition he deserves for his services to LFC and to football in general, KK is due to be nominated for a knighthood, Ronnie is well worthy of an OBE at least. This may sound awful, but legends like Ronnie are only receive their credit when their gone, let's give a true legend the credit he deserves before this happens.

Managers are easily recognized for their successes; Shanks, Paisley and KK, but it's those like Ronnie Moran who don't get the credit they truly deserve.

With all this talk of naming rights for a new stadium, I for one would proudly sit in the Ronnie Moran Stand

Please post to banter

Henderson, Downing, Adam and even adding a fit Gerrard, Aquilani and Carroll will all seem like new signings to Kenny. They all offer attacking qualities to the squad which were missing last season.

With Gerrard, Aquaman, Meireles & Adam best postions being attacking centre midfielders, and Lucas as the holder, ... a Steve Clarke 4-3-3 is bound to be implemented.

We will not be buying anymore wide or central players and no 4th striker till Jan. I can even easily see Shelvey and Pacheco going out on loan.

Depending on Stevie's grion recovery (if he does fully) we may see one of Meireles or Aquilani move on by the very end of August.

A left back will be brought in next week once Insua is out the door. There will then be a few pre season games for the new althete to gel with his new team mates. But expect the left back to have premier league experience - Jose Enrique despite his desire for chamipons league will join us, as Arsenal have no further interest and Mr Fab to focus on replacing.

19 Jul 2011 22:32:35
Just read macca's point about Gerrard's groin not responding to treatment....
Thats the first bit of bad news I have heard for this season..... Gutted.... but if it means we get a fully fit gerrard then its worth getting him 100% fit as we now have a squad depth that can cope for a few games at least...
Everyone is having a go at identifying who macca is...... my top three bets are:
1. Shergar
2. Kenny Daglish.... Would be funny though and how would all those who slate macca feel then?
3. The Pope.

Ed ive been talking to my mate today and he says were looking at someone called Lionel Caroll all i know is he is a french under 21 international i know nothing of the player, is he any good? how much would he cost and have you heard anything? cheers YNWA Lee {Ed029's Note - I'm afraid I don't know much about him I think he plays left back for Benfica can anyone else help with Lionel Carole?}

______--
Re above:
20 year ol plays for benfica, French, French U20 squad, left footed left back only played first game for benfica earlier this year. Now has same agent as Casilas, (Real M) Zapata (Villareal) Osvaldo (Barca) Payet (Lille) Marchisio (Juve) so probably in good hands there.................

i heard that Aly Cissokho wont be joining Liverpool it's a 100% no go. I dont see why KK doesnt go for him, he's young and one of the best LB in europe, he could improve alot. And to be honest i think he is much better than Jose Enrique, Enrique is over rated i dont see what KK see's in him, and not worth 14 million pounds either. he isnt the type of player to take us foward. Looks like another season without a LB. Liverpool musnt like LB's

19 Jul 2011 22:02:54
There is no interest in Godin. I have seen him play and he's not bad, but there is no interest right now.

Thanks, James.

I dont see how our spending has stopped. Where's the 20mil or so we bid for Phil Jones. We already had Henderson. Adam was a target that we got and so was Downing. I'd say we'd have got Adam and Downing if we'd have got Jones so although their's no kitty per se. I dont agree at all that our dealings are done with.Is der not the 15 to 20 mil that wasn't spent that we'd have paid for Jones knocking about for at least a centre half. Jonson6

Alot of people saying that after spending £35 million on Carroll there will not be another big signing up front. Although i dont think theres any chance of signing Aguero (wages to high) or Higuain (Real Madrid wouldnt sell) i still wouldnt rule out another big name. In January when the deal for Suarez was agreed and before Torres handed in a transfer request there was plans to put in a bid for Carroll and wanted keep Torres. I cant see us signing anyone else until we sell quite a few players, then i think a lb and cb are top of the list but if we get rid of enough dead wood and the wages down it wouldnt suprise me to see another big name striker come in.

Just read caught offside. They print absolute BS on that site. This site is great Eds, good rumours, funny rumours, boring rumours and of course the truth.
Here is some truth:-
Next purchases - CB, LB
Next outs - Aqua, Raul, jova, Shelvey, Insua, plus loans
I love that the media are guessing wert move, KK has restored the club to it's great tradition which was unthinkable a year ago. Well done to FSG too for being of sound mind.
Bring on the season - Longnline the King

Flavere {Ed009's Note - Caught Offside is literally stories written by kids. My little sister could start writing for them if she pestered for long enough.}

see alot of mixed views on the ability of andy carroll.
what you think ed, ? u think he will b the player we all hope he becomes. {Ed009's Note - I am not sure he will ever become a 35 million player, but very few really are worth that sum. I do think though, that he is a very good striker and he could well get 20 goals next season.}

Hi EDs Love the site...plz post this if poss...
I bet your going mad with all the Aguero rumours but just have to say heard from a friend who works at Anfield & melwood..( no its not KK, DC or JH lol )...there is some slight truth in the rumours but there are many stumbling blocks which are follows...WAGES, we must offload at least 3 of the "Deadwood" high earners & hope he accepts a pay cut, this would be a major ask & if City, Chelsea or Real enter the race offering £££ then game over, next is CL FOOTBALL, while he would bypass it for a year, simlar to Mata there is a feeling he would want a release clause if CL football was not gained in first season, which if we dont qualify after paying a huge signing on fee & wages for him it will be a huge waste of money, LOYALTY, after the Torres & Tevez drama's of late we are a bit cautious (and rightly so) of the player wanting either to move back to south america or a big money move once he has 1-2 big seasons, now even though this would be good financially it wouldnt be good on the development side, now the fee is better news, its not £45-50million as his release is 38.1million EUROs so considering we paid £35million for Carroll that shouldn't be a problem, they are ig stumbling blocks there are few smaller ones like shirt number, bonuses ect but like the Ed's I see this highly unlikely ( 2 out of 10) unless the player himself really fancies the move to this great club to be a part of something big which to be fair won't happen as he more than likely gonna go where the £££ is.
Do not fear though apparently we are taking a very close look at Karim Benzima from Real with potential of a season long loan with view to a permanant move ( they want to trim wages aswell & there have been no takers of the frenchman), Adam Johnson is still there but we are waiting for City to start spending big again...Likely outcome for him is if they get Nasri or Sanchez we get Johnson...they also offered us Bellamy & even though we gave it a short thought we turned it down. Big mega money signing not likely this summer guys I'm affraid unless Aguero is desperate to join us and wave away riches, but A.Johnson & Benzima are genuine possibilities & would improve us further...nothing new on CB orLB, but looking likely to use G.Johnson & Aurellio as left back with youth developing behing them.

Ed
Notwithstanding the earlier discussions on our need for a LB.
Does Cissokho at around £12m not seem like extraordinary good value, for a player of his age and ability, and that would seem ideal for the Prem also ?
Baines being touted at £18m + for instance.
It just seems like a very good opportunity being passed over.
I mean, even if we did sign him, he would have re-sale value in 3 x years time if we wanted to have the kids in.
The Real KB {Ed009's Note - I don't think we can be entirely sure that he would cost as little as 12 million but, that aside, I do think he would be a very good deal. The only questionable aspect is whether his unsettled nature will have an adverse effect on our squad, and Kenny will no doubt have taken this into consideration.}

What has happened to interest in Stephen warnock. Vastly underated and underplayed. Surely are more realistic fee can be sorted. The kid is a scouser n all Can't believe I haven't seen his name mentioned before now. It was in January. Our need for a left back more keenly noticable now. We must be realistic as if we achieve any our goals of champions league then we must balance the books legitamatly. Unless we do a man citeh Which by the way, etihad is Arabic for united What price for success Red Mike {Ed029's Note - I think Warnock may well try to fight for a place under a new manager at Villa and it could be a step backwards for the club. I think if we do try to sign a left back it will be someone who do a job for us for 4 or 5 years

sold by us for 2mil, was one of blackburns best players then was sold to villa started always till gerrard took over never really played again just like when he was with us. The lesson to me is like ed said we cant go back, but we can go forward lets play youth players more in the first team like the end of last season instead of selling them for 2m buying an lb for 8m aboard then he flops, we dont need to buy many more players just bring through the youth.

If Damien Comolli was being truthful when he said LFC's main business in the market was done, then he's a lot thicker than I first thought.

Even a blind man can see that our problem (for years) has been at left back, wings and a general lack of flair and trickery.

Of the three infield signings we've made, only Downing can be said to be an improvement on what we have.
Adam and Henderson are good players, yes, but where they essential additions? No.

We practically have no left back. Aurelio is a crock who couldn't walk to the bathroom without pulling a hamstring let alone run over 30 90 minutes of footy; Insua's average at best.

Johnson is a right back and should be played there, not to have his game limited by being played as some makeshift left back.
Johnson at lb was a short-term fix to a short-term fault.

On the wings, Downing will be a big improvement.
But another winger was a MUST.
We simply CANNOT afford to have one widemen.
When he isn't available we'll be back exactly where we've been the past few years: NO WIDTH.

I'm appalled that one, instead of at least two, winger was prioritised.
How many wingers do the Scum have? How many do spurs have?

Another of our big hindrances has been a lack of flair, trickery.
Suarez has given us exactly that.
But now what happens when Suarez isn't available?

We back to square one: no trickery or magic to unlock those stubborn defences who come to park the bus.
All great teams have at least two players with the genuine ability to produce magic.

It should've been top priority this summer to bring in one or two more players with the flair magic element of Suarez.

Imagine we're playing Stoke, who put ten men behind the ball. There's no Suarez and Carroll. We can't pass our way through their defence; can't dribble (Suarez) through them, and can't hit them from the air (Carroll). Ghastly.

I'm sorry, but I haven't been much encouraged by what we've done this window.
Downing has been only problem-area signing.

Left back, another winger (tricky) and centre back are the areas in need of serious attention.
If Macca is right and a left back isn't being sought, and Downing will be the only winger signed, I foresee huge difficulties getting top 4 next season.

I'd advice that people brace themselves.

Ben smith from the times has just put on twitter that aguero is NOT going to sighn for Liverpool he has got a lot of thing right so we ha got to trust what he says. {Ed009's Note - but not what we do?}

Hi Eds this is not a rumour just looking for opinions I think that we have signed good players this summer and think they will improve our squad alot, we have a big squad but not quality in dept I know we will get rid of some of the "deadwood" so lose some of that dept I think with the squad we have now we are only setting ourselfs up to fight for 4th place Before the summer transfer I would have hoped for 6 young top quality out field players which would set us up for years to come and give us a great chance to compete on all levels next yearwe are LFC so only the best should be good enough We still need CB, LB, RW and striker I know this sounds greedy but the two Manc's and chelski nearly have 2 quality players for each position It would be great if people posted their opinions to this? Ed009, i asked Ed002 because i thought she was the resident expert on French football mate. I swear down Ed i fully respect your opinion as much as any if not more then any of the others. Only reason Ed009 was that it was about French football mate, wasn't saying you know nothing of football outside of England but i see Ed002 answers a lot of questions re French footy. Just i glanced through the answer thats why i got the name of the player spelt wrong. I respect you as much if not more then any other of the Eds, only the big potato Ed001 deserves more because he set the site up. Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - Jonson mate its fine. I wasn't being remotely sarcastic, he is the resident French man, having lived there for a while. Thank you for your kindness, it is much appreciated.}

Who would you bid for

Agree for Adam Johnson
Disagree for Eden Hazard

19 Jul 2011 20:23:57
Appreciate the answer re Carroll Ed002.Just a quick follow up. I think most of us know about Mexes, but i'm could you tell us if Remi is a quality player and who he plays for? Thanks.Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - Rami is a solid centre back, one of Lille's standout players, along with Gervinho and Hazard, before his move to Valencia in January - after which he was loaned back to Lille for the duration of the season. He will not be available for a move having changed clubs so recently.}

Ed009 i apologise for my last post, thank you for answering it shoulda read the reply properly, even got the players name spelt wrong. Sorry again Ed009, no offence intended mate.Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - Thats absolutely fine mate, Ed002 gets asked a lot because she knows a lot. None taken whatsoever.}

I honestly think that Kelly will be first choice at RB this season. He is a much better defender than Johnson and has the pace and can put in a very good cross too. Dalglish will convert Johnson into a RW and use him at LB when needed. GJ is a much better attacker anyway. It would make sense to play Kelly at RB and GJ at RW.

We are always talking about Kelly as a CB, so why the hell was he never been used there in the first team? RB is made for him, keep him there

what seems to be happening with the likes of honda and jeffron suarez. seems like honda is linked with blackburn now and suarez is inked with bolton i think. if we are interested in these sort of players dont you think we would be far more likely to get them than them sort of teams

19 Jul 2011 20:10:18
Hi ed's, Just a quick question, I been reading that we are no longer looking for a left back. Do you think that there is any chance that agger may fill this position until January or is he really adverse to playing in that position? I also wondered what your thoughts on Johnson playing RM/RW next season where? I personally believe he would be great there he has pace, power, a decent cross and can shoot, or do you think that Henderson will fill that spot. For some reason I think Henderson is going to be a player like Schweinsteiger starting out on the wing and brought infield over time.

Onto the rumour I have been told by a Friend at the Walkers that Leicester are looking to take Jay Spearing on loan again.

Thanks keep up the good work

Kman {Ed009's Note - Firstly I think it is far more likely that the position will be occupied by Johnson and Robinson till January, if we have to make do. Playing left back means making sudden turns far more often, not ideal for a crocked player. I think that Henderson will primarily be our right midfield but Johnson will likely be tried out there, especially if he recovers from his injury in time to play there in pre season. It was Kenny's intention to play him there last year, but injuries stopped this.}

Hi everyone and Eds;

Just heard from my source that this transfer window is going to be the craziest for years, expect some wild merry go rounds, we know Jovanovic, Jones, and probably ElZahr and Degen will go for free, expect Pacheco to go back to Spain, Eccelstone to leave also, nothing new there but he said there are players not just Aqualani and Paulson that could also be sold that will surprise everyone.

He also hinted on the situation with Aqua man, he is very much wanted, IN ENGLAND? Man City and Arsenal, if Fab goes, apparently both are very keen.

Hazzard will also leave this summer despite statements to the contrary, who knows where he will end up? Probably not us unfortunately.

Nothing concrete I'm afraid but then again who does know anything concrete these days, just that this window still has legs and expect the unexpected

Cheers

I think Macca does have good sources.He mentioned the interest in Suarez months before the press got hold of it and the Suarez signed.

19 Jul 2011 19:36:57
for the first match i dont think gerrard will start. i think we will play 5 in midfield with jay spearing and charlie adam holding with downing on left and henderson on the right aqualani the man behind carroll that is what i think will happen gerrard to come on second half

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again this may be incorrect but i was told Gerrards groin is a big worry for the club, apparently it is not responding to the treatment in the way it should..

Cheers

Macca

will suarez not be back in time from the copa america?

19 Jul 2011 19:33:24
if we had money like cheslea and man city we would probably buy a left back and a center back. but know training has started, kenny is just concentrating on the team he has got. we dont NEED a lb or cb, but we could improve in those areas maybe. but only would have room if players left. think abou the players we want to sell. perfect example is poulsen. hes going nowhere because hes happy sittin on the bench (if that) gettin £60k a week and being able to say hes a liverpool player. why would he want to go to an average team on lower wages were he will prbably have to work his arse off more. we have some players, like poulsen, el zhar, joe cole etc who are on a nice wage and if they move they will get less, so they wana stay put. they are a disgrace, they should go an let the club move forward and buy players who can challenge the first team and have a long future at the club. cant wait untill eventually dead wood goes. its a pitty more havnt gone and they wana stick around for money selfish reasons.

19 Jul 2011 19:15:19
Glen johnson is a right back, kelly should be used as center back . Why are we gonna make do and play people out of position? There must be money there for us to spend as much as we did on henderson so lets buy a top quality left back . For me a priority. I watch a lot of football and i must say ive never thought Enrique has stood out so not sure bout him.

19 Jul 2011 19:09:28
Hi, My Auntie's friends sister cleans the toilets at Melwood and I have it on good authority that the familiar face coming home to L.F.C is non other than Emile Heskey as a back up striker and Gerard Houllier is coming back as Stewart Downing's chauffeur ...

You Heard It Here First.

19 Jul 2011 18:56:06
So far I feel KK has only brought in quality players who have a desire to play for Liverpool FC, which is why he might not be too keen on Enrique. What do you think ed?

That's why he also gave up on Young and got Adam and Downing, once he was sure they would relish playing for the club. That is also why I believe he wants to sell Aqua.

So i highly doubt we'll be getting Cissokho or Enrique. Thats the main reason we've bought English players only.

What do you think ed?

PITSILFC {Ed009's Note - I agree that we will not be signing any players who don't want to play for us - there is simply no point. I think Cissokho would want to join us though, so I don't quite see the link there.}

19 Jul 2011 18:53:48
if we want hazard we should offer 20 mil + some players what do you think eds. {Ed009's Note - If I was in charge then probably yes. Not that it would make any difference as he wouldn't join us this window at any rate. If he does it will be a real turn up for the books.}

19 Jul 2011 18:42:33
ok lets take things into perspective as far as i can see everybody is going on about left back glen johnston has just signed a new contract he will be left full kelly will be right back we now have downing
left midfield so lets look at right midfield at the moment first choice is kuyt he is not a winger great work rate but can not out run his opponent we now need creativity on the right to open up teams so whos it going to be swp? gerrard? kuyt?lennon? i would be happy with gerrard but i think he wants centre mid big decision?

19 Jul 2011 18:39:25
whats the latest on a left back guys theres no way we can go another season with a problem in this position. Happy with the rest of the squad tho

19 Jul 2011 18:32:02
I dont see what all the hype about Scott Dann is? He belongs at a club looking for a top ten finish e.g stoke, bolton, newcastle some like that not a team aiming for champions league. How he will help get us to this goal is beyond me i'd rather have agger and skrtel as for me they are both better. I dont see the point of singing a player better than what we have. Please lets try for some of the young talent from THE REST OF EUROPE like Sakho, Lovern, Subotic or Hummels.

Carl {Ed009's Note - Subotic and Hummels won't be leaving Dortumund. Sakho won't be leaving PSG after he was given a new contract, a pay rise and made captain of the club. Dann is far better than Lovren - and in fact one of the best defenders around and available in my opinion.}

19 Jul 2011 18:15:25
i am backing carroll to be top goalscorer this year, he needs good service and he will get that from adam and downing, just give him a chance. what u think ed {Ed009's Note - I am not sure that he will be top goal scorer - that depends on whether Rooney can play a whole good season and whether Torres can stay fit and regain his form - but I thin he could well bag 20 goals next season.}

19 Jul 2011 18:13:59
To all eds. Why do you keep giving all foreign players a low rating of moving to LFC. The only players you rate high are the foreign players that are currently in the EPL or players of GB. Are you saying that KK will not not look elsewhere for talent? I think you wrong cos why else would we have signed Suarez if we only trying to look for local players {Ed009's Note - we can only explain to you the interest in the players we are given. Cissokho is as likely as any other player bar Dann at this time I would argue.}

19 Jul 2011 18:04:01
Ed002, do you know or remember who the centre halves were for France when Andy Carroll played so well against them on his debut. He was the only player to come out of that game with any credit on Englands team. Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - Ed002 has slipped out for some cocktails for a while. It was Mexes and Rami if I remember correctly. He did play fantastically in that game}

19 Jul 2011 17:43:33
tom ince should start every game this season

19 Jul 2011 17:38:24
I am not claiming to know anything for definate, only what I suspect. It seems as though we are building bonds with Hull, we have been sending them several players on loan this season and last, Ayala, Amoo, Gulcasi and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Also the friendly that will produce revenue for Hull. I believe maybe we have an agreement that if Hull produce any talented youngsters we have first refusal on them. I would be happy to be corrected if jumping to conclusions.
Also John Henry is a very clever man and I've heard people moan about his twitter posts or get excited about them, (regarding mata and aquilani) perhaps he just appreciates mata as a footballer like we all do, or perhaps he was creating a smoke-screen either an unsuccessful one for downing or one for a transfer that fell through. I also believe he's done this with aquilani (saying he's staying or just praising him, I'm not sure which because I don't have a twitter so it's just hear-say from here) although aquilani is a good player he doesn't want to play in the English premier league and Liverpool don't want to sell him cheaply, so perhaps Henry is playing mind games to get more money for him.

I personally think Aguero would be a bad move... Yes he is world class, and scores for fun, but he is an out & out striker He plays like torres did. Forlan supported him like stevie g with nando, Aguero made 2 assists in the whole of last season Were would Carroll play? Let's get realistic, we have good owners that are already supporting us, & we won't fill every space on the field 'coz next year we will have Champs league and will be able to bring in world class names. A LB & CB would do us fine.

where are all the top player's the club promised us , better than we have i'm better than half of what we got at the moment , el zhar rubbish , poulsen should be charged with impersonating a footballer, degan what the fook, insua overweight & lazy , we need a couple of top player's but we are buying average, we need pace which we haven't had since barnes & we haven't replaced john arne riise yet how long has it been , get rid of the sh*te and there is enough deadwood there noah would be delighted wih that amount of wood , come on lfc make a statement please, ynwa thanks

Liverpool should buy Aguero we can rip off other teams like we did with torres keep him for 2 years or so and sell him for more. I dont know what these other fans are complaining about his states his a striker his job is to score so what if his got low assists. If not Aguero we should make a move for Muller from Bayern munich his young and we can get him 20m max

hey eds this isn't a rumour but just a little theory i would like ur opinion on. The reason behind liverpools all english spending is due to the lack of european football, so i believe that we will indeed buy players of the highest quality such as Mata, Hazard and so on when we get in the top 4 for champions league. what do u think? {Ed002's Note - I would perhaps not read so much in to things and Chuck Adam is not English. I don't see anything stopping a Johnny Foreigner coming in still.}

i know you're probably sick of me asking this question but i was wondering what you thought of Ryad Boudebouz as an attacking midfielder? and secondly do you think the team we have at the moment is creative enough? i was probably not the only Liverpool fan who was frustrated at the lack of invention sometimes last season. Great site, though i might have to get myself barred, its the only way ill stop

dann will be the best buy 4 liverpool this summer. young , scouse, liverpool fc mad, anonther home boy who knows wat lfc is all about and will play for pride and love and not for money like many others. GET HIM SIGNED ASAP b4 we lose out hes better than all other cb linked with us

ED just a quick one, reina was very happy to stay on because he was told who the signings we were after. Surely what we have signed so far wouldn't really excite him so there must be something big coming or some spanish players to keep him happy. Any thoughts {Ed009's Note - I am almost certain he was not told that specific players would be joining, that would be a ridiculous promise to make considering all the permutations of events that could lead to failure. What I have no doubt he was told is that we are going to make progress in the transfer market for arguably the first time in his tenure at the club, and we have fulfilled that promise thus far. I am not so sure that specific players would be signed to keep any other one happy, and I think Pepe deserves more respect than the assumption that he would demand that anyway. I know of no interest in any Spanish players off the top of my head, and 'big' is an entirely subjective term.}

19 Jul 2011 16:12:56
I have been a reader of this site for the past two years but never posted before mainly for two main reasons : Unlike many other people here, being from India I am not privy to 'genuine' information about transfers and the other reason being that I just reading and being up-to-date about my beloved club.
The only reason I am posting today is that i just can't take the flak that a lot of people are giving to Kenny and Co. for not signing the like of Aguero, Sanchez and Pastore and rather wasting money on the like of downing, Adam etc. Not only this, they even give flaks to the eds and other people who seem to suggest otherwise.
I am going to give you guys some definitive stats on why the above mentioned players are not being signed and why these players are just not good enough for the fees and the wages they command.
I know there is more to football than stats but they do give us some idea about the quality of the player.

1. Javier Pastore
Goals Last Season : 11
Assists : 4
Expected Fee : 50 million pounds
Pastore only created 4 out of the total 65 goals that Palermo scored. In comparison, the 'overvalued' downing created 9 and scored 7. And downing was worth 20 million.

2. Neymar
Goals : 17
Assists : 8
Fee : 40 million pounds
Carroll scored 19 last season and played fewer games and most of us have seen his performances in the copa america. Is he really worth the money?

3. Paulo Henrique Ganso
Goals : 12 ( though played lesser games)
Assists : 0
Fee : 25-30 million pounds
Nothing to Elaborate.

4. Sergio Aguero
Goals : 20
Assists : 2
Fee : 39 million
Wage : 200-250K
There is enough evidence to suggest that Suarez is a much better player ( he had more assists from january) and over the course will definitely score 20 goals. Though, the fee might still be justified in his case, but his wages are at par with the likes of messi and ronaldo when he is not half as good.

Therefore, there is a reason these players are not being signed. Its not that the club is not ambitious enough or the players don't want to come here.
Just because all of them are south american, doesn't mean all of them have a Pele or a Maradona inside them.

I hope this would go some way in stopping the madness

Does anybody else have the same problem as me. When a question is asked or a post about a player or someone leaving etc is made and an Ed replys with an answer that i agree with, i'm not sure weather agreeing with it means i'm agreeing with the poster when its the Eds answer i agree with, or vice versa, so i just leave em. Jonson6 {Ed009's Note - I know, its even hard for us some times. I'll check the site, see an answer I feel is perfectly reasonable such as "no, Aguero won't be signing", and see 10 unbelievables. I imagine it is usually easy to work out what the unbelievables are for. At least I would hope, in the case of Aguero, they are for the post; otherwise all is lost.}

19 Jul 2011 15:44:28
I don't see why liverpool don't go in for scott sincair young, english, and good final ball just as a back up for downing.
Sean Robinson

19 Jul 2011 15:35:14
Hi Ed, Why is Danny Wilson not the answer to CB defensive problem, I thought he was highlt rated at one point and had great potential. I've heard little about him only as speculation as a swap or loan?

Brownie {Ed009's Note - he was fantastic for Rangers and very highly rated when we bought him. Since then he hasn't developed so much, but that could largely be down to him being played at left back, far from his natural position.}

19 Jul 2011 15:23:21
According to DC the whole spending thing could be over, or is this a tactical commetn to sneak under the radar for the remaining targets.......

19 Jul 2011 15:01:31
Hello Ed, Can you tell me when Liverpool's next friendly is please?
Also I do not believe that Liverpool are gonna stop spending the cash for the right players.... I keep remembering what John Henry (god bless him) said when he took over the club.... If a player fits the bill then we will try and buy that player...
obviously we need to get rid of some of the deadwood but I honestly think that we are taking a couple of weeks to size up the squad who we need/ who to get rid etc and then in the last two weeks of the window expect us to make a final push for players.... Also... Reina would not have stayed unless a whopper was coming in..... So I expect 1 more player to be signed who costs us in excess of 20 million.... would welcome any thoughts
jonnybarnes89-90 {Ed002's Note - 23 Jul 2011 against Hull away.}

19 Jul 2011 14:57:23
ive just read on the lfc blog that lfc and man city have agree a fee for auguro and they discussed personal terms and its up to the player now to decide which club he want to go to any truth in this eds. {Ed002's Note - None.}

19 Jul 2011 15:09:21
Hi Ed,

One for your questions page.

Downing has been given the number 19 shirt and Maxi moved from 17 to 11, doesn't this seem strange to you? I thought Downing was nailed on for number 17, do you think the club is freeing the shirt in anticipation of a further signing at some point in the window?

Also any update on Insua, do you think he will be sold or retained? {Ed009's Note - It does seem odd but it could be nothing more than a simple change to have someone playing in the 'first eleven' jersey. I would not read anymore into it for now as I can't see another winger/attacker being altogether likely at the minute. I think Insua will go if a buyer is found, a decision which would be mutually agreeable for both parties.}

19 Jul 2011 14:41:49
When the Hull friendly was announced this board was in a frenzy over the idea that it involved Crainey coming to LFC. With Gulasci moving on loan does this dispelled that theory?

19 Jul 2011 14:00:35
If we get a decent offer for Miereles, we should take it. As good as a player he is, he is far too lightweight for the EPL. Charlie Adam can hold his own, Lucas can also as well as Henderson even at a young age, but Raul avoids 50-50 tackles like its the plague.

19 Jul 2011 13:52:01
Ed, I really hope that we give some game time to the youngsters for the next match against Hull. Players like Suso, Sterling, Morgan and Smith could really thrive having top players besides them giving them tip here and there. Ed, do you think it's just wishful thinking or could it happen? {Ed002's Note - They may well get a run out but it does not make them ready for regular first team starts in the EPL.}

19 Jul 2011 12:59:20
i heard the transfer kitty is finished. People will need to be sold in order to balance the books and bring in new people. the club has gone over in spending and is looking forward to the alberto aquilani money as they don't expect to sell the rest of them for any real money.

19 Jul 2011 12:59:18
The odds have dropped from about 18/1 to 5/1 from a flurry of big bets being placed on Aguero joining Liverpool this week, don't have ago at me, take it up with the bookies ok

Keyser Soze {Ed009's Note - betting odds mean nothing. It is literally because a bunch of over excited Liverpool fans have rushed in and put a tonne of money on him joining.}

19 Jul 2011 13:37:51
if the window was to close now and the season to start then i would be very happy about our chances of challenging for the league, we have now got a better squad than arsenal and chelsea who i think may struggle, i heard lampard saying how we have spent fortunes while they dont need to as they have a quality squad anyway(wot an idiot)there mid consits of lamp, ramires and mikel we have much more talent then them, i think we have bought very well and adam will be buy of the season,

19 Jul 2011 13:28:35
I am content with the signings this transfer window although i don't believe this team will be challenging for the title any time soon, i know the priority is to get back into the top four, but the new squad will still find next season a struggle and should be prepared for a fight. i understand we are in a re-building process and i fully back KK and DC transfer rules, but if the owners are willing to splash the cash then they should take advantage of it now whilst they can, yes we need to get rid of the deadwood, and some further transfers coming in may depend on this, but i feel we should challenge for the title this season meaning we need more quality players. i was wondering what all the other reds think, press believable if you want to see more big singings for LFC this summer or click unbelievable if you are happy with the signings and feel it is enough? I am just interested to see fellow reds responses. Thanks

will liverpool be nortaged up to the hill again?

john vs tom

Tottenham are applying for regeneration fund from the goverment.

man city took the Commonwealth Games stadium was built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games stadium cost £110 million and seats 47, 805.

West ham take Olympic stadium a 60,000 seater statium.

How much has the stadium project cost?
The total cost of the entire project is £390 million. This includes the construction of Emirates stadium, a new waste and recycling centre and relocation of local businesses and statutory services.

What is the capacity of Emirates Stadium?
60,000

To finance this highly complex project, Ashburton Properties, a subsidiary of Arsenal Holdings plc was formed and obtained a £260million senior loan facility from a stadium facilities banking group. This banking group comprises: the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC, Espirito Santo Investment, The Bank of Ireland, Allied Irish Banks PLC, CIT Group Structured Finance (UK) Limited and HSH Nordbank AG. Interest on the senior debt is set at a commercial fixed rate over a 14 year term.

Arsenal is contributing the balance of the stadium project costs through funds from Granada, Nike and the sale of surplus land assets relating to the stadium site. Also once the Club relocates in 2006, Arsenal has planning permission for a residential development of Highbury. The Club is actively looking to re-finance this £260million loan early in 2006. Managing Director Keith Edelman explains:

"We believe most of the risk is behind us because most of the major engineering challenges have been met and the physical structure is there. 14 years (the term of the current loan) is a short space of time for an asset which we hope will last 50, 75 years or more. Therefore we are looking to go for 25 years at a lower interest rate. If we can do this it will reduce our debt payments on an annual basis and allow us to have more free cash."

What will happen to Highbury?
Arsenal Stadium, Highbury is being redeveloped into 711 homes, facilities such as a gym, health centre, nursery and retail unit. The East and West Stand fa ades, together with the Marble Halls and other key elements of the current stadium such as the art deco Sunburst glazing panels will be retained and incorporated into the new scheme, named 'The Stadium - Highbury Square'.

Highbury's Grade II-listed East Stand and opposing West Stand will be converted into high-spec apartments, many overlooking the pitch, which has seen so many glorious football moments over the last 93 years. The goalposts will be removed and the pitch will become a garden of nearly two acres. The North and South Stands will be replaced by new-build apartments designed to harmonise with the East and West Stands.

The luxury of the development continues with an underground swimming pool and fitness centre under the pitch. There will also be a 24-hour concierge service and spaces to park cars and bicycles. Perhaps best of all, The Stadium will be a walk away from Arsenal's new home, Emirates Stadium,

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says he expects Liverpool to challenge for honours next season.

The Anfield club have not won the Premier League title for 21 years and finished sixth in the league last term.

But Ferguson thinks Liverpool, under boss Kenny Dalglish, will be a major threat next term.

im betting on liverpool to win

Before we start this is just what I am hearing from a number of sources and might not be 100% true.

It is rumoured that Liverpool and Man City have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for Aguero. Personal terms have been put forward by Liverpool and Man City and it is now up to the player to decide where he is going by the end of the week.

Is he in it for the money or the football only time will tell..

To the poster who told me i dont know what i'm on about and it shows the intelligence of modern day Liverpool fans, and go across the park to support Everton, well at least thats original, thought you were gonna tell me to support City ha ha. Also the Owen subject cropped up not long ago, and one of the Eds went into great detail of what happened with Owen leaving and how Rafa practically begged him to sign a new contract, think it was Ed001, but if it was another Ed who explained it i apologise. And speaking of intelligence, your takes the piss mate and you must suffer from delusional fantasys, because no matter what happens, as far as i'm concerned he burnt his very last f***in bridge when he started to yak on about winning his joy the Prem with Scum even though he really did f*** all but qualify for a medal except coming of the bench a few times and scoring for a no wher near full strength side Scum against Blackpool. You dont have to be a brain surgeon to realise Scum would have won the Prem without him no doubt, because everytime Arsenal had a chance to to owt they folded like a deck of cards{do you like my gambling analogys mate, feeling really clever today for a modern day Liverpool fan even if i'm 34 in a few weeks ha ha}. Just look at your posters of him on your wall in his Utd kit, bet he looks proud as punch eh. And one thing i will say, i'd put my last pound coin on Owen celebrating like a little jack in the box if he did ever bag against us. Even Torres said he wouldn't do that, not very likely to happen anyway but at least he said it. Correct me if i'm wrong is he not a Utd player for another season anyway, its just company for Fergie so can read the racing pages together while he's sat on the bench at yet another club pickin splinters out of his asse. At least if your gonna have a go you whiny pussy, at least sign your name warrior. Jonson6

why did we buy andy carroll because im not convinced by him. we shud of bought romelu lukaku fantastic prospect.

19 Jul 2011 11:45:07
Being contraversial here but i really think Andy Carroll will be a serious waste of money i don't think he will suit the system the club will want to play and his all round game is poor a player in the mould of higuain or a bent would be a better option for us hope the club keeps aqualani i think the season away playing regular as brought him back to his best i think he will be a great asset this season we should sell mierales his body language on the tour tells me he doesn't want to be there and get rid of the deadwood who wear the great red shirt

People going on about centre halves, centre mids, strikers and everything else, do you not realise we have a gaping hole at left back?

Unless Kenny is wanting to play Johnson left back and Kelly right back, that should be our top, 100% target.

Also all stop asking the exact same questions as other people and just read the site.

Thank you.

Hi ED : Is there a site I can go on to find out who we have sold and for how much. I keep reading that players have been sold or, gone on loan but cant seem to find a site which tells you how much for etc thanks {Ed002's Note - Try the main club site which will, I am sure, publish the press releases. If not, the BBC maintain simple lists on their football pages.}

19 Jul 2011 11:18:14
I think liverpool will make 2 more signings ...
Obviously a left back is needed tbh people are saying cissoko over jose enrique ... what planet are they from?
Enrique proved his class last season.. hes done it on the highest stage ...
THE PREMIERSHIP

Then i expect a CB but i dont think it will be one whos going to walk into the first 11 i expect a squad player someone who is willing to rotate but someone who is good enough to play for liverpool...

These aren't rumours but this is what clearly is about to happen

19 Jul 2011 11:10:03
any more news on stevie gerrards thigh, rumour has it that he is still having treatment & he is not responding , he wont be ready for the start of the season & the club are very worried, hope this is all toss but only saying what i hear, he has been having injections at shire's hospital in greenbank , hope it is the end of his treatment & he is back asap,

19 Jul 2011 09:38:14
Jeffren, Honda and Cissokho, that would make the squad a total unit with flexibility and cover in all areas, Go on Kenny, you know you want to, I reckon you could get jeffren for £7mill, Honda for £8mill and Cissokho for £10mill.....£25 million to completely sort the squad outJUST DO IT :D

19 Jul 2011 10:51:58

Just heard from a very good source that Liverpool will wait for Man City to make a bid for Sergio Aguero and then match it (we don't want a bidding war with city). Maxi is being kept as a squad player which will hopefully give Liverpool the edge over Man City (best mate of Sergio). Aguero is also understood to be willing to take a pay cut if he finds the right club (he is a L'pool fan). I am not saying we will sign him as alot can go wrong, but the interest from Liverpool is high and a package is being prepared.

To all the people that doubt .... KK does not want to sign bench warmers, he wants to sign players who will compete for a first team place.

Rumours are spreading today about Aguero again. have announced that they have shortened the odds on him joining Liverpool after a flurry of bets.

Im not sure whether they have suspended betting or just shortened the odds. But there is a definite rumour that Aguero has turned down Man City in favour of a move to Liverpool. The source of the Aguero decision is unknown because its all over Twitter and I cannot find the origin. But the announcement is officially from them.

Remember this happening with Phil Jones though and look how that happened

ALL BELOW INFO IS FROM BBC GOSSIP PAGE, WITH MY COMMENTS ADDED

Blackburn have tabled a £7m bid for CSKA Moscow playmaker Keisuke Honda, who has also attracted interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.
*talkSPORT*
IF BLACKBURN CAN BID £7M (and i reckon they'd get him for that (if we or arsenal don't come in)) THEN WHY ARE WE EXPECTING TO PAY £15-20M??

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has denied that Liverpool have expressed an interest in midfielder Lee Cattermole.
*talkSPORT*
......GOOD

Fulham manager Martin Jol is keen to bring former Leeds and Liverpool winger Harry Kewell back to the Premier League.
*footybunker.com*
I SAID A FEW WEEKS AGO (to my knowledge i didn't get slated for it) THAT THE GALATASERAY GAME COULD BE PART OF A DEAL FOR TURAN OR MAYBE THE OLD FACE COMING BACK IN EITHER KEWELL OR BAROS..... DOUBT IT THOUGH, JUST SAYING HAHA

Manchester City may make a surprise bid for out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.
*Caught Offside*
NOW I KNOW EVERYONE WANTS RID, BUT I FOR ONE THINK HE IS GONNA BE SUPERB THIS SEASON
I KNOW HE'S UNHAPPY, YOU WOULD BE..... BOUGHT WHILST INJURED, GET FIT, PLAY A FEW GAMES WHERE YOU LOOK DECENT, NEW MANAGER COMES IN, SENDS YOU ON A SEASON LOAN
BUT..... IF CITY WANT HIM? THEN WE MAY NEED TO CONSIDER KEEPING HIM (they are out buying GOOD players)
AND LOOK AT IT THE OTHER WAY ROUND..... WOULD THEY SELL S**T TO US

AND FINALLY

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has described a Malaysian fan who sat in a stand full of Liverpool fans wearing a replica shirt bearing his name as a "legend" on Twitter.
*Metro*
I DON'T THINK THE RIVALRY THING WORKS IN MALAYSIA AS IT DOES HERE :/
ROONEY HAS NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF
HE COULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT HERE

Hi eds great site Have read quite a few rumours regarding tapping into the asian market by buying a player and the recent tour of asia producing packed out 100,000 seater stadiums this looks like a great idea. Do you have any info on whether the club would be looking into buying an asian player to boost this or are we looking at alternative ways to increase exposure is the far east? great site {Ed002's Note - If the club are to buy an Asian player to improve the squad and provide cover the best option is Park Chu-Young. If they are to buy an Asian player simply for the purposes of "tapping in to the market", then I think it has raeched a pretty grim state of affairs for a club held in such esteem."

Liverpool and spurs have been linked with barnsley duo Danny haynes and craig davies.... the pair thought to have huge potential have been on the liverpool watch list for some time.... danny haynes is a player that kenny has been watching even whilst at bristol city and now at 23 kenny could step in and help make him an instant star and an ideal striking partner for the giant carrol. . . . kenny is thought to have said its all about danny haynes to other members of his coaching team. {Ed002's Note - He has signed for Ipswich.}

Wouldn't it be nice if the hackers of the s*n placed in a link which directed all the naive readers to the hillsbrorough justice campaign website? oh, the irony

Since Real Madrid have picked up Coentrao to play LB, do you see them moving Marcelo? And do you think LFC would have a shot at picking him up?

ed do you think we will try to sign toivonen, do you think he can fit in 2 lfc squad....and if he prefers 2 move to epl....what will be his cost....? thank you {Ed009's Note - I think he would be a decent signing, although he is somewhat similar to Carroll, which would work against him. I don't know of any interest in the player anymore I am afraid.}

I think we are still short of 1 or 2 new signings. Though, virtually, it looks as a complete squad, but 1 or 2 quality inductions are still needed. Hope, for a good season, ahead. With the squad, we currently have it'd be very hard to make it to top 4. Because there are many teams better on the paper than us. Hope, King will bring out the best out of all these and make us to champions league next season. YNWA

Could people PLEASE STOP CALLING HIM AQUAMAN???

People. We don't want to be like City, trust me, because when their bubble bursts and their owners pack it in they'll be down the tube with leeds and portsmouth, i'm happy we're still being run properly and trying to solve our debt problems in a business sense, not just pot luck.

Michael Owen can shove all his goals in all his games for when he played for us right up the poo pipe of his favourite horse. Just a money grabbing clacker who for we got about 8 mil and Nunez for because he let his contract run down and down and who's price to Real Madrid was inflated by taking Nunez to make it look like we got more for him then we did for him. Oh how he tried not to be smug on T.V at half time when we were 3-0 in Istanbul.By the look on his face after the game you'd have thought he'd just missed out on a Champions League winners medal after our historic comeback.I couldn't give a f*** which players he's mates with, his comments actually made me feel sorry for Torres for 8 hours, then i woke up and i still dislike the pair immensley, none of them have showed any class towards us after they left . A player like Alonso, now when he left and we all know why he did, has showed nothing but class dignity and he still loves our club. Who would be welcome back in a heartbeat by everyone, except Charlie Adam maybe{joke folks} Thats bulls**t about 98%, both making a random number close to a hundred and only proper scouser's as someone put it would be fully offended or against him coming back. I'm from Preston, supported Liverpool since i was about 6 years old. My dad was Irish and it was Ronnie Whelan being my favourite player and being Irish himself playing for Liverpool got me supporting us and i've never looked back 28 years later. He used to bollock me for crying when listening to radio if we got beat or conceded a goal, sounds a bit mardy but thats what the club ment to me back then and still does now. I'm sure fans who aren't actual proper scousers who i'm sure have supported and loved the club from a kid like me, are not second rate fans who dont understand the history and tradition of Liverpool. I know bar last year when Roy was in charge, we've said always said this is the year. But i cant remember looking forward to a season with such realistic optimism and a chance to establish ourselves at the top of the tree again for a long time in f***in years. Jonson6

Liverpool will put a bid in for the southampton teenager alex olexade-chamberlain But with arsenal also wanting him, it might be who bids more ED'S just one question, with KK and the lack of information giving out of L.F.C these days, who gives out the inside info? Is it the agents? Anyway great site Brill as always, I just wish some of the rumours were true Aguero, higuain etc etc. .Y..N..W..A. 19 league titles here we come Fergie u better be ready for K K and his merry men {Ed002's Note - It is very difficult to keep any transfer details quiet nowadays. Agents will share information - often in a misguided attempt to get a better deal for their charges. Clubs will often discuss what is going on. This is particularly true of French clubs. Most coaches will answer direct questions reasonably well, and pre and post press conferences there is much more open discussion. Players generally have an idea of what is going on but largely don't care too much.}

Not a rumour, just a thought, if we want to buy the best and we need a defender , in my opinion the best in the epl is Michael Dawson he was awesome last year especially against us, we buy him, we improve dramactily improve

Right so theres 40 sumthing days left of the transfer window, i dont think we will sign anyone else untill about the last 10 days of it.
for the next 30 days i think we'll be concentrating on who we need to keep, who we need to loan, and who we need to sell.
Sales :
Jovanivic will defo be goin. (as will brad jones)
cole, ngog, will probably go
maxi, meirles, insua and degen, pacheco might go
Loans :
obviosly, it depends on how many sales we manage to make, and obviously it will be youngsters who go, if any go.
possibly :
pacheco, shelvy, spearing, flanagan, robinson, wilson, darby (again), ayala, .

i do believe we will be keeping alot of our players tho, mainly because people dont want the ones we're willing to sell.
poulsen, + aquilani, will be staying,

within the last week or two of the window, i dont think we will have collected alot from player sales and so the owners wont be digging deep into their pockets and will probably look for 2 relately cheap players.
one being a left back, and the other either a centre back or a 3rd striker
