According to the paper, on this day in 1959, shankly took charge for the first time; as we lost 4-0 to Cardiff! The rest as they say.

Brentford.

19 Dec 2015 16:51:51
You mean Brentford.

19 Dec 2015 19:51:02
Sukhy. If you are going to post on here at least get the facts right, and try and get the team correct.

20 Dec 2015 00:35:10
Red Since 64. If you are going to post on here atleast stop patronising, and try to be a bit polite.

20 Dec 2015 06:15:35
Red since 64, u have lost all credibility with your blind support for that muppet BR. Stop being rude, its not your place to do so. And i'm pretty sure that was an honest mistake from Sukhyrai.

20 Dec 2015 09:50:08
Red since 64, take a chill pill and show little respect for your fellow supporters. This site is for pleasure and mutual enjoyment with your fellow supporters.

Hi all just want to say I think it's a fantastic time for our young players at the club. With JK and the rest of the staff the will be given every opportunity to make it. BR hardly if ever give them a chance I could list the players but we all can guess the names. I'm not saying the are/were going to but star players but at least give them a chance. Also the loan deals will be much better looked at for the players needs where as before I got the feeling they were just loaned out for the sake of it.

Klopp is the manager of the first team, not the academy and he will play the best players who are in the best form regardless of age (as he should) . If we don't have huge injury crisis I don't see anyone who wasn't expected to be a regular, starts or become first or second substitute other than Brad Smith maybe. Maybe Tex against Exeter but that's more or less it.

19 Dec 2015 17:57:52
Did I say anything about the first team? There are lots of ways to assess a player well before he gets near the first team. Training, loans how he plays for the u-18 u-21,reserves then maybe just maybe he might get near the first team but if he does or doesn't he'll have been given every chance to make it.

19 Dec 2015 19:52:01
by all accounts Klopp is all over the academy and getting around to seeing everybody even the kids. I like that he is making himself approachable and getting to know the ins and outs of the whole club.

19 Dec 2015 19:53:55
Barry, yeah yeah yeah. Rodgers was the anti Christ and Klopp is the saviour regarding the academy.

19 Dec 2015 21:37:40
Don't be offended that Klopp actually cares about our academy and wants it to succeed and BR couldn't be arsed to even go watch them play one day in his life at LFC.

19 Dec 2015 22:48:08
Redohio mate all I want is the young lads given a fair chance and with JK more than BR I firmly believe that this will happen but as I said they may not turn out to be Liverpool standard but at least the got their chance.

20 Dec 2015 08:38:30
What is a fair chance? Klopp has used Randall Smith Chiravella Brannigan and Rossiter in games since he arrived. He has recalled most of the lads on loan to look at them at the time of the international breaks. The truth is you can't expect him to remove a 10 million pound plus player from the first team to give a youngster a chance! I am of the thinking that if you are going to play a youngster he must be better than all other options you have. If you think a squad player, let's say Joe Allen isn't good enough to play at the top level and he has been given the opportunities, sell him. But you can't do that unless you are convinced that you have a youngster who can come in and play better than Joe. I am sure our already knows who he wants to let go and if there is anyone in the youth team he can promote. I am positive he wants the best players he can for his team and he will leave nothing to CHANCE.

20 Dec 2015 11:06:19
Has Rossiter played under Klopp?

Thought he's been injured.

19 Dec 2015 14:36:14
Eds reds if you could pick a centre back to partner sakho, within reason, who would it be?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - off the top of my head I can't think. Not sure who would be within reason these days. One thing is for sure, I trust in Klopp to get the right man.}

19 Dec 2015 16:35:56
I'd probably choose sule or howedes.

19 Dec 2015 16:45:43
Jonathon tah? I think his name is.

19/20 6ft 5/6, strong, quick.

Looks good on youtube but we all know how deceptive that can be, haha.

19 Dec 2015 18:39:54
Subotic, Howedes or Mustafi.

19 Dec 2015 21:41:20
Well let's just hope our scouts would know more about him than you do Paulo, haha!

19 Dec 2015 23:36:37
Mustafi very good.

20 Dec 2015 03:19:19
KLOPPO to be honest I think Subotic is not really an upgrade on Skrtel, has never looked the same player since his knee injury but I definitely agree with you about Howedes and Mustafi although isn't Mustafi a left sided centre back? I may be wrong though.

20 Dec 2015 06:17:29
Has to be Howedes. Affordable and a realistic option.
Dream signing would be Varane. Having two top quality CBs form the same country will help with the communication and teamwork at the back immensely.

19 Dec 2015 11:59:47
I'm just going to throw this out there and there might be examples where this statement would be wrong but has anyone noticed recently, how managers go from being successful at a club to having a total nightmare once they sign a contract extension.

19 Dec 2015 14:34:53
The Mourinho one is interesting because this is his first genuinely poor spell.
I don't think the 2 are linked, I think it's harder to retain, motivate and placate big players. Suarez was the beginning of the end for Rodgers, Hazard wanting out has led to Mourinho's demise.
Big name players are a blessing and a curse. It reinforces the point about building a big team ethos which can withstand the loss of a big player.

19 Dec 2015 15:29:20
You're right Ron. Look at what CR7 is doing with Benitez at Madrid. Most expect Benitez to be gone by the summer too. But I must say that Mourinho had it coming. He'd been asking for it since a long long time, contract extension or no contract extension.

19 Dec 2015 16:16:08
Mourinho works his players hard. It's okay for a season, or two, but day in day out must be exhausting, especially with the park the bus tactics. Genuinely think he is one of the worlds best but you can't sustain his style for the long term.

19 Dec 2015 16:29:14
Rafa was a bad appointment and I knew Perez was wrong to sack Carlo and that he would regret it. The players loved Carlo and did not want him gone. Benitez is now paying for Perez 's mistakes because the players never wanted Rafa. As for Mou, he's had it coming for years for trashing other managers and clubs, taking all the credit when his team's win and trashing his players like he did this year, when things don't go his way. If the players got him sacked, then he deserves it for trashing them publicly.

19 Dec 2015 17:02:03
I don't think Mourinho works his players much harder than everyone else. They are professionals, they should be working hard.

19 Dec 2015 16:49:44
Its like the managers want there jobs gone.

Mourinho just kept going and going with the same team and tactics and his constant bitching.

Brendo just needed to lose the obsession with possession football and play the high press like Klopp has done with the exact sane team at his disposal but he just couldn't let go of his beloved system. If we were enjoying our footy under him maybe that would of bought him some more time.

Maybe they both thought they were invincible and wouldn't be sacked.

19 Dec 2015 18:10:02
Big player's today have too much power, they need to be reminded that it's the club that pays their wages aswell as the manager's. Their first loyalty is to the fans and the club. They have every right to voice any concerns that they have, but only behind closed door's. When they play they should play to win.

19 Dec 2015 09:43:29
A report by London School of Marketing that looked at the active fan bases of clubs across Europe, placed Manchester United at the top, with Liverpool FC in second ahead of the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea FC and FC Barcelona as the clubs with most fans globally. Refreshing to see that although are lack of champions league football we are still a major club throughout the continent. I recall edd2 mentioning about a supper league in the future and how we would struggle to join this league without cl. Surely they would look at a this edd2 if we persisted without cl. Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I didn't say that. What I said was that Liverpool are not party to the discussions and would not, unless certain things change, be invited to join. That remains the situation.}

19 Dec 2015 12:41:16
A supper league hey? Do they all eat gourmet meals and see who eats the most?

19 Dec 2015 14:46:43
I like the idea of a supper league. Get Jan Molby back and we'll win it by lunchtime.

19 Dec 2015 15:35:24
Him and razor would smash it!

19 Dec 2015 16:27:13
Thanks for the reply edd2.must have got my wires crossed aswell as my spelling. ay lads!

19 Dec 2015 20:40:27
I wonder what the Supper League Trophie's made out of?

20 Dec 2015 05:42:56
Be made of fish fingers I reckon.

20 Dec 2015 10:58:41
Sausages!

What's with Pulis and his new comments about last weekend's game? The game is over and let's move on for God's sake. And to bring in the value of the squads on the field, in his comments, is really low. Just makes him look like a petty, jealous type of fool who suffered from an unloved childhood and needs acceptance now.

Believable17 Unbelievable0

19 Dec 2015 09:58:16
Forget him, move on.

19 Dec 2015 10:28:04
Are you suggesting Ra, that tiny penis may be the jealous type.

YNWA.

19 Dec 2015 12:42:08
He sounds like a bitter and a stalker who just won't let things go. The game is over yet he is still whining about it. I guess he's still sore because we fought back and the whole of Anfield was buzzing.

19 Dec 2015 13:03:41
I actually laughed out loud to that Sizemick. Tiny Penis -hilarious, it's comments like that and Ed002 is why I keep reading this! Great entertainment, oh and the Liverpool news and rumours of course.

19 Dec 2015 13:30:20
LOL. Sizemick - i didn't get access to that kind of info at his press conference. Now I'm feeling deprived because people know a lot more than I do ;-)

19 Dec 2015 21:44:24
Well I just love football Karma, check out what happened to wba today .

I really like the 'Live chat during match' new page. Two questions, will it be available in mobile as well, and can we keep it open for say an hour or two after the game for post match initial reaction?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed033's Note -
1. The page should adjust so you can use it on a mobile.

2. Maybe it could be left open for 1 hour but someone has to be an 'admin' to stop any 'person' that causes trouble

19 Dec 2015 11:33:31
How about have a different poster be admin for each game?

{Ed033's Note - This would have to be done on an unpaid, voluntary basis

19 Dec 2015 14:02:50
Yeah I wasn't expecting a fee, but with 2 games a week at least over Christmas, and obvious other commitments, I'm sure you could find one poster a game who is willing to just see over the live chat, give the eds a break lol.

{Ed033's Note - hope so

19 Dec 2015 15:06:16
I'd have no problem doing it if the eds can't find anyone decent. Not for the next two weekends though.

{Ed033's Note - ok thanks Reet, i'll email you after christmas
