In reply to:

"If its true that nuri sahin will be available for as little as 5m, why the heck is camolli not breaking his back for him!? 10x better than Adam and would be the long term replacement for stevie! Please go out and sign him before its too late! !"

It's 8m, I think! Cracking deal for him!

But, he is nothing like Stevie G, at all.

Aside from that, he will - most likely - go to one of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Last night was the first time on lfc tv that I had seem the 96 memorial service highlights held at anfield and it was totally emotional.
When I saw the response to Rafa Benitez from the fans and from himself when he was thanked for all his efforts and praised for turning up once more to the service to see a foriegner become an adopted scouser brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat that matched those of Rafas.
I have never seen such loyalty in football and I only hope king Kenny can talk him into a coaching position which will keep Rafa where he truely belongs here at LFC with the club and people he loves and who love him as much.
God bless Rafa and his family and remember you will never walk alone here on Merseyside , you are a true
LFC legend.

What is with you people saying you wouldn't have xabi back because he's too old? He's only 29! Peak years for his position and his skill set never included blistering pace or unparalleled stamina which are the only thing times takes from you. His gift is his brain and laser guided passes which he will always have. He will be world class well into his mid 30's. I would have the dude back in a heartbeat.

I agree Alonso Gerrard and Lucas would be a good midfield three. . Also Alonso may have what. . 2-3 years left at his prime. . if you ask me hes the perfect tutor/ mentor for Suso and hopefully can mentor him and guide him to turn him into his natural replacement. . If we signed him of course. .

Doubt that we bid 35m for Llorente. . {Ed001's Note - you may doubt it but we bid over 30m for him and were told that he was not for sale until the summer no matter how much we offered. By the way, even Balague admitted as much at the time.}

Why didn't we wait till the summer? The season was currently gone and we didn't have any expectations left.
- - - - - - - -

Because if we waited we would have finished 8th-10th and there's no reason for Llorente to want to leave 6th placed Athletic Bilbao for a midtable Liverpool. At least if we went in for him now he'd have reason to come and remember there's still a chance we might go back in for him - he's not just a target man; he's quick and has better feet and more tricks than the traditional big-man-up-top.

Martin

So you think Carroll was the reason why we are 6th ATM. He has only 2 goals and been injured for a long period of time. Made no difference whatsoever yet. {Ed001's Note - he has made a huge difference to the spirit in the camp. It was a statement of intent sent out to everyone that Liverpool are a force to be reckoned with and not content to wallow in mid-table. It was a massive lift to the whole club.}

Perroti has been linked to us on sky sports aswell as a couple of other english teams do you think he would be a good addition to the team ed's? or anyone else not seen much of him in real life but he is pretty good on football manager lol!

Daryll {Ed001's Note - I like him myself, not so sure how he would get on in England though, I think I would get annoyed if I watched him play all the time. He is a bit prone to going down rather easily.}

Ed002's Note - Raider Myopia is an interesting analogy for Liverpool fans - perhaps one I had not thought of. I am not a football fan at all but I catch the Giants when I am back home sometimes (and I was there for the last two games of the World series in November that were not needed). SF was one real happy town when they won. Years ago you used to be able to buy joint Giants/ A's hats and folks would go to games either side of the Bay. Your IP address lists you as Fla. and I see that the Bucs are due in to play at Wembley this year - you coming over?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Raider myopia is not a good analogy for all LFC fans, just the ones that demand overpriced, over hyped, English players or cannot fathom why Neymar, Ganso, et al will not be joining our club. Like you, I am not a fan of American football. But as you know, we are force fed all things NFL over here (60 minute game that takes 3 1/ 2 hours or more to play, "athletes" that weigh in excess of 300lbs & a majority of players that if they sprint for more than 5 yards need oxygen on the sideline, no thanks). Ironically enough I also choose Baseball as my second sport, being born & raised in San Diego I am a big Padres fan. And will say big ups to the Giants for winning last year (Bruce Bochy is the man!), even though the Giants went to the playoffs over the Padres (classic meltdown performed by them last year, wouldn't you agree?). And to answer your last question; when I visit England (which is now once a year) it is to go to Anfield. I wouldn't put a dime into the Glazers pocket if you personally handed me the money to do so.

Hey ed's i just watched man utd look very average by what looked like a good newcastle team and i thought enrique played very well indeed if he plays like that consistently then i would gladly have him playing for us! whats your take on him ed's as i have not watched much of him? also praise to guttirez (spelling) he played very well but he resembles the greek far to much and i hear one of the eds saying they did not want barton/ nolan i forget which one ever plain in red a shirt and i agree about both even though nolan didn't play today i don't rate him and barton was good first half but was like a ghost second half.

cheers ed's keep up the good work im more addicted to this site than facebook lol

Daryll {Ed001's Note - he looks ok but his crossing was woeful tonight.}

Hey mate you seem to post a lot about Italian info, is Criscito good enough I watch a bit of it but find it enough I watch a bit of it but find it hard to make up my mind about the players in that league . Haven't seen much of him though to be honest. I heard he was in the final year of his contract 7mill is nuts if that's true contract 7mill is nuts if that's true Fowler is god
- - - - - -
Maybe 30% of the footy I watch is italian and am very lucky to have sone extremely good reliable contacts due to my line of work, I've seen criscito play a number of times and while going forward he is lacking defensively he has excellent timing and tackling and is a good reader of the game, if he worked on his crossing he would be the equal of any left back. As it stands id make him a good addition to lfc (if signed) but not a key member. He is also a more than capable centre back and certainly equal to skrtel in that position. Hope that helped.

Why do high profile players feel they have to play in champions league and have to play with the best players and have to get paid more than anyone else! If your that good you don't need these things to prove it! The day when messi wins the league with Wigan will just never happen. .

Neymar has a contract at Santos until 2014. Hopefully by then we will be able to compete with United and Chelsea and offer Champions League. They rate him at 30m Euros (about £28m). Really would love to see this player at Liverpool.

I don't see the point in chasing Sahko, we have Martin Kelly to move to CB. I wouldn't mind a little punt on Rodger Johnson as an experienced CB for next season.
We've got to sell Agger as he is too injury prone and still quite a good sellable asset

Can people stop with

"Defour the new Alonso"

and "blah blah the new Gerrard"

because I remember when Bruno Cheyrou was the new Zidane. Players shouldn't be linked players of such legendary stature as they'll never live up to them and this makes them seem less of a player than they are, this is seen with Lucas as I bet he was mention as the next Ronaldo or Gerrard and people were disapointed with his lack of flair and attackive capabillity but over time he played his own way of defensive tireless football and we came to admire him for it (well most of us). Its just setting the player up for a fall. - Mc

Jay Spearing is turning out to be a wonderful player for our squad. I don't think that we need to buy a holding or defensive midfielder anymore, Spearing is good enough to cover that position. A creative midfielder is needed.

Have it in good authority that since there's a divide in opinion on Ashley Young and Stewart Downing from KK and Comolli, we're going to bid for both - 30mil. Although Villa are reluctant to sell both. But chances are they may be tempted to cash in. We'll find out soon what happens.

19 Apr 2011 21:31:22
Jay Spearing is better suited to the Premier League than Christian Poulsen, our other option in the position at the moment. He will never win us a game single-handedly, but his performance against Arsenal and Man City were very good, constantly harried their creative players giving them no time on the ball. If we had a fully fit squad, he would not be starting

On talk sport tonight guilleme ballegue recons we chose carroll over llorente in january?? any truth in this Ed?? {Ed001's Note - last I heard was that Bilbao rejected our bid for Llorente, I am not exactly sure how that was choosing Carroll over Llorente myself.}

19 Apr 2011 21:24:30
Enrique appears to be booth quick, physically strong and technically very good on the ball. He seemed to shrug Valencia off the ball with ease which is not easy, would be a good option particularly as Robinson albeit fast and a good reader of the game might struggle against the physically stronger right wingers such as Valencia.

19 Apr 2011 21:21:57
{Ed002's Note - Jean-Michel Aulas, the Olympique Lyonnais chairman, has a business model based around selling players for a significant profit. To further this, he has always maintained that every player has two prices, one for his sale and one for his sale to an English club. This has been borne out over the years.}

Just out of interest Ed, how many Lyon players have ended up plying their trade over here during Aulas' time in charge?

His 'English price' thinking would appear to be flawed if managers / clubs here are aware of this underhand practises and have refused / are refusing to buy at his inflated rates, no? {Ed001's Note - the likes of Essien have moved here mate, it also depends on whether his English price is based on the standard French dislike of the English or not.}

19 Apr 2011 21:21:58
Please, Please stop this euphoria on Jay Spearing being the new messiah. A hard working determined Player, lacking the skill, Power, or pace, to become a great player. HE is not even a scouser he is from the wirral.We will never win the league with players of his standard.Yes, he has come in and worked like a jack russell. but he never took charge of any games I have seen, Gerrard, Alonso, Souness style.We still need a quality midfielder, so stop going overboard on him.

jay has played well and deserves credit oh and the scum are about to win the league with carrick and fletcher both awful players. academy players seem to be unfashionable to some fans yet they rave about foreign players who try when they feel like it.

Ok, minus the bad tackling as well. I meant that with temper part.
Ive got a feeling he could do a great jod as a squad player. Also think hes one of late bloomers.
Hes deserves so much credit though for trying so hard in the reserves for years and sticking it out till he gets his chance, and hes taken it exceedingly well.

Hi ed's pls post this

Pepe did an interview with lfc.tv according to Yahoo!xtra sport.

Jose Reina is desperate for Liverpool to begin next season strongly if they are to have any intention of re-establishing themselves as a top four team.

Kenny Dalglish's return as manager has somewhat steadied the ship, however, with the Scot guiding the side to wins over Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

"We cannot just perform against the top sides because a season is 10 months long, " he told the club's official website.

It look's like he might be staying

Been away a couple of weeks and although I have gone through the archives I was wondering if much has gone on, i.e, change of targets and progression of detail.
Also, I was wondering who are our main targets,
I have made a list and would welcome any more names and the likelhood of them signing.

Conteroa
Marveaux
Adam
Benzema
Defour
Dzudzack
A Young
Downing
Dann
Cahill
Enrique,

Have I missed any?

How likely are these deals,

Burnsy {Ed002's Note - Coentrao is very unlikely; Benzema seems unlikely the others are possible to one degree or another.}

19 Apr 2011 19:46:04
Losing Reina would be a big disaster and imo could be as bad as when we lost alonso. Teams are built from the back and Reina would be a key figure to take over captaincy from Gerrard.

I really hope he does stay this summer and his comments on sky sports look promising (but then so did Torres's before January!) He is one of our top players and arguably the best keeper in the world!

Please stay Pepe! (I know you're reading this and will take my viewpoint into consideration ;)

19 Apr 2011 19:25:23
Hii.
A lot rumour for right now about next season tranfers. That only a rumour, not all can be happen. For sure, 5 or 6 player will be signing and 1 marque signing. Thats normal, player come and go in tranfers season.
Just hope KK and DC doing well in tranfers activity. They know our squad weakness, and try to resolve that problem.

After reading Pepe's quotes today mate. It sounds like he's already preparing for next season with LFC. I hope i'm not reading to much into it but his interview today (LFC weekly) was not the usual stuff he has been quoted as saying, in the past few months.

If you are reading too much into it, then I am too because I agree with you, it sure sounds like Pepe is expecting to be at LFC next season. And that's great news, a solid team starts from the back, and LFC could do a lot worse than him in goal. Any talk of cashing in on him is nonsense, in my opinion.

"We cannot just perform against the top sides because a season is 10 months long. If we get the balance right, we'll be a lot, lot closer to where we want to be. We started this season and the last one not the best. Next time, we need to make sure that doesn't happen."

Heard from a reliable source that Lionel Messi and Xabi Alonso will be signing in the summer. Messi is a known admirer of Dalglish and thinks the future looks bright at Anfield. He is also very close friends with Segura, Pacheco, Insua, Maxi and Gerrard. A fee has been agreed for £125 million + add ons.
As for Xabi Alonso he loves the Club, City and People!

Well it seems Raffa's hidden work at Liverpool is now getting praises from within the club.
King Kenny is the most recent to praise Raffa for his work at the Academy since Raffa got the power to change things in 09.
Lets hope Liverpool recognise his work and appoint him Director of the Academy.
I'm sure Benitez and Dalglish can create a bootroom, youth, coaches and a success for the years to come

To all you prats that say reina is signing a new deal. you are talking crap. he done that last season.lfc will not give him another one when he has just had one. they will not beg him to stay. in there eyes if he wants to leave. they will let him. for the wright price. they don't want players that don't want to be at the club. he will still be a liverpool player next season. so stop worrying about it.

With results going in favour and not in favour for liverpool we can still qualify for europe.

This is how we can.

Stoke can qualify for the Europa League as runners up in the FA Cup final and yet they could also see that Europa League place go to the sixth-placed team in the Premier League, which is currently Liverpool. Meanwhile, the remaining Man City v Stoke and Liverpool v Tottenham Premier League fixtures could now be matches with extreme conflicts of interest.

Result: Stoke City win the FA Cup
Who qualifies for the Europa League? Stoke qualify for the Europa League, fifth place in the Premier League gets the remaining Europa League place.

Result: Man City win the FA Cup and finish in the Premier League's top four
Who qualifies for Europa League? Stoke qualify for the Europa League as FA Cup runners up, fifth place in the Premier League gets the remaining Europa League place.

Result: Man City win the FA Cup and finish fifth in the Premier League
Who qualifies for the Europa League? Man City qualify for the Europa League as FA Cup winners, sixth place in the Premier League gets the remaining Europa League place (because Man City have qualified for the Europa League twice via the FA Cup and Premier League, their qualification via the FA Cup takes priority, allowing sixth place in the Premier League to provide European qualification).

MAN CITY V STOKE AND LIVERPOOL V Spurs: CONFLICTS OF INTEREST?

Tottenham want Man City's home game with Stoke City brought forward because they fear a conflict of interests that could impact on their Champions League qualification.

With Man City and Stoke meeting in the FA Cup final on 14 May, the Premier League game between the two coincidentally scheduled for the same day has been rearranged for 17 May.

However, should Stoke lose the final, it would then be in their interest for City to clinch a Champions League place, as that would allow Tony Pulis' side to qualify for the Europa League.

"I think they [the Premier League] should look at it, " says Harry Redknapp. "We feel it should be changed."

In the past, the FA Cup runners up would automatically qualify for the UEFA Cup if the winners had already qualified for the UEFA Cup by a different route (winning the League Cup or by Premier League placing).

Since 2009 and the advent of the Europa League, however, the FA Cup runners up are only permitted to enter the Europa League if the FA Cup winners have also qualified for the Champions League (which takes precedence over Europa League qualification).

Ordinarily when the FA Cup final is played the Premier League season would be finished and situation clear, but the waters have been muddied by the fact that the Cup final has been brought forward this year.

The FA Cup final is taking place earlier than usual in order to leave two clear weeks for Wembley to prepare for the Champions League final on 29 May.

The fight for the fourth Champions League qualification spot via the Premier League is unlikely to be settled before the FA Cup final is played, leading to controversy surrounding the rearranged Man City v Stoke league game.

To muddy the waters further, Liverpool (currently sat in the sixth spot which could yet be allocated a Europa League place if City win the Cup and finish fifth), face Tottenham the day after the FA Cup final, leading to the bizarre situation that a Liverpool defeat could be in their favour.

I enjoy reading this site and enjoy looking at the rumpled but am getting a bit fed up with all this stuff about reina. he is a quality player who has kept us in a game many times. Let's just wait and see what happens in the summer as nobody knows what's happening inside LFC. ALso what do the eds think of Stefan jovetic, I believe we went for him last summer but didn't have the funding, cheers {Ed007's Note - He is a quality player and would improve LFC no doubt IMO, but can't help with whether you tried to sign him or not, can anyone else??}

It was about 2 years ago we tried to sign him, Rafa confirmed this in an interview with Ballague. We didn't have the financial muscle at the time. . Fiorntina were reluctant to sell such a hot property, he is a quality player but is still recovering from the serious injury he had.

The summer signings will be:

Eden Hazard
Ashley Young
Jose Enrique
Charlie Adam
Mamahdou Sakho or Gary Cahill
Connor Wickham
Karim Benzema (50/ 50)

If Benzema opts not to sign, bids will be made for R.V.W, Llorente, Hulk and Jovetic.

ive heard today a lot of rumours
this morning i heard that liverpool will cas in on reina and get lloris but just now ive heard hes in contract talks over a new deal and kenny has said that he is staying and ive also just heard that liverpool have nearly signed ashley young and jose enrique and is there any more news on charlie adam i heard a while ago that hes been unhappy at blackpool since january as they didn't let him leave for us
Also when will kenny get the job we should get im now before its to late {Ed007's Note - I knew it was coming, Charlie Adam!!!! AAARRGGHH!!! Most of it is just speculation, and IMO it is only a matter of time before Kenny is confirmed full time boss, the owners would be crazy to consider anyone else just now considering his connection with the fans/club. The LFC fans would not be happy with anyone else right now, though I might be wrong}

My mates sent me this,

I don't know the original source so it may be from here and i'm just being a tit so sorry in advance.

"There are significant rumours on some scandinavian forums claiming that a "shoe-in" signing will kick start the summer. It is listed from a couple of people who lives in Liverpool with what they claim is extremely reliable sources. There is also a list with facts regarding the player;

-2 years left on contract
-Not mentioned before under Kenny or Comolli as it is regarded as unlikely
-Player wants the move
-Price 15-25 mill
-Not in a position that is a top priority (could be argued what is "top", but I assume this means that this is not a centrehalf, DM or winger.
-A huge name that will thrill all of the fans (though not in the ronaldo-messi league)
-Unexpected
-Player is a fan-
Transfer to be done early to state an example and to signal a top ambitious club even if we miss out on Europe.
-A transfer that will make Pepe stay.

I do not know how this rumour occurred, but even though they are Norwegian they should not be slagged off. I know some of them er very well connected and they live in the city as well

The speculation is that Xabi is the one, but I can't see why Real would do this, and I also think he is too old. unfortunately Sneijder and Schweinsteiger recently signed new contracts."

I think you got the wrong page, mate. Although, your punctuation of sentences with ???s is identical to the deluded Spud who roved these pages not too long ago, preaching of the imminent signings of Aguero and Huntelaar.

You're also similar in that you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up any of your claimed 'signings'. You're obviously clueless (I mean, look - some of those players aren't even British as you initially claimed) so please stick to the Spuds' pages where your tripe will be welcomed with gusto.

Hi Eds
Please post this as I am quite worried!
Stevie Gerrard has another 3 good years left in him! ! Please don't despair just yet. The two full back 'kids' are fantastic, Robinson's pace brought such a wide smile on my face, as I was watching in a pub in London! Ashley young, downing or other pacey winges are all we need! The owners will support what they promised so. .
Will Kenny still be in charge? What's the hold up????
What's going on? Is Commoli one to decide? I rage at the thought! ! !
Also, Eds, this delaying of Kenny's contract made my wonder, do they by any chance have Rafa in mind to make a come back? He's truly with Liverpool and close to many reds. .? What do you think, eds? And, Please, What's the hold up with Kenny's contract if not. . .

Redtam London

{Ed002's Note - I don't see that there is any rush or hold up on the contract. They came out a couple of weeks ago and said that the two parties were in discussions. Comolli was tasked with finding a new manager but won't need to do that if Dalglish and Liverpool agree a contract. So don't worry yourself too much. I am pretty cedrtain that Benitez will not be in charge at Anfield next season.}

For the life of me I cannot fathom why any Liverpool fan would want Gary Cahill at our club. He is your typical over rated English "hoofer". Anything above 5 million for him would be a waste of money. This would also be detrimental to the youth coming through the ranks (not to mention Ayala, who in my opinion could very well be starting next year for us).

I guess it must be that I am an american red & I just do not understand the myopia that is associated with English players. I want the best players plying for our club, I do not care where they originate from. The criteria is simple:

1. Are you good enough to play for LFC
2. Do you want to play for LFC
3. Are you willing to go to battle in every match for LFC

Doesn't matter where you are from, just meet these 3 simple things & you will have my support until you move on.

I hear, see & read all the time people having a go at Lucas for stupid fouls, wayward passes & anything else so called "fans" can blame him for. However I watched Spearing give the ball away numerous times, commit stupid fouls & give away the penalty against Arsenal.
Yet not one person on this board had a go at him, it makes you wonder (by the way idiots Lucas is a starter for Brazil, Spearing will never step foot into the English team [and before you have a go at me I am a fan of Spearing, as a squad player]).

an american red

Ed002 - being from the bay area are you aware of the Oakland Raider fans myopia? And if you are, does it not remind you of some of the posters on here? {Ed002's Note - Raider Myopia is an interesting analogy for Liverpool fans - perhaps one I had not thought of. I am not a football fan at all but I catch the Giants when I am back home sometimes (and I was there for the last two games of the World series in November that were not needed). SF was one real happy town when they won. Years ago you used to be able to buy joint Giants/A's hats and folks would go to games either side of the Bay. Your IP address lists you as Fla. and I see that the Bucs are due in to play at Wembley this year - you coming over?}

And, don't forget, it was a Tory Govt in power at the time of Hillsborough. And we were banned from European football at the time as well, so there's definitely no love lost there. So it wouldn't be a surprise if they turned Kenny away, that's all I'm saying.

As much as this hurts, the writing is on the wall for S.G. he has carried the club for so long on his back it's starting to tell with his injuries. I gotta feeling that KK will try and use him not so much next season so the question to you all is, WHO THE HELL IS GOOD ENOUGH TO REPLACE HIM LONG TERM??? i don't see meireles, lucas or any of our kids being a similar type of player to him and i can't see anyone out there who is even close to steven at his best. Any suggestions? {Ed007's Note - I'm dreading the replies to this one lol}

It's a good discussion point, personally I would like to see Stevie replace KK as mgr in the future in the same vein as Pep at Barca but who is out there to replace him? Well from the Academy we have Coady which is quite exciting but if we are looking externally then I would go for Erickson, great shot on the lad and only 18 as-well, any thoughts Eds? {Ed001's Note - Suso as the attacking midfielder for me.}

We all know the reason that Ferguson was knighted. Yes, his football record is top notch but it was his public support to the Labour Blair Govt that sealed his award.
Somehow or other, I can't see Kenny doing the same with Cameron and them !
Maybe that's why Ed002 thinks it won't happen. We all know the Tories hate anything to do with Liverpool anyway. .

Gerrard will still be important next season! When he doesn't play, we sometimes play more as a team. Don't worry to much, plenty of good talent coming through. Pacheco (if he doesn't move on) Suso, who will be exceptional if he carry's on the way he is. The future looks bright if the youngsters step up and do as well as Flanno and Robbo! YNWA

We've had great players such as , Dalglish , Rush , Whelan , Hansen , Kennedy , Barnes and many many more everyones footballing days comes to and end at some stage there will be someone out there who will replace him.

Atleast we have a manager who knows how to replace legends.

I'm betting on Reina staying at LFC. Why?
Because he's smart, mostly.

1. The lesson of Torres:
He's seen Torres move on, and then struggle for form and for morale, at a team who were supposed be better than LFC. Admittedly Spain would be a lure for him, esp Barca, but in the prem it would have to be the Gunners.

2. Who is better than LFC?
The fact is that the Gunners havent done as well as we have, since January. And we are still getting better, whereas they have probably peaked.
LFC are a team on the up, and with big improvements coming in the summer, who knows how high we will go next season?
He knows that the times a re changing- we've picked up the second highest points total to United, since KK took over, and there's no reason to think that will change next season, in fact with a much better squad we could easily overtake United.

3. He knows FSG are deadly serious about getting good quality players- good enough players for KK to mount a real challenge, and definitely good enough to make top 4 next season. If he goes to Arsenal he'll probably get top 4 footie, but LFC have just as good a chance as the Gunners next season, if not better.
Spurs will probably fade, but City will still be fighting for a CL spot next season, and something has to give. With LFC back in the mix, there will be five strong teams chasing 4 spots. Whose to say City won't beat the Gunners into 5th place next season, with even more cash injected in the summer?

4. Pepe will be fully aware of KK's track record, and how he has the proven ability to buy the right players to form a title winning team. Arsenal have been trying for the prem for years with Wenger and failing- why would Pepe take the risk of moving, when his best chance might be to stay with LFC?

We don't know the full picture behind the scenes as he does, but if you were in Pepe's shoes, you'd be having serious doubts about the wisdom of a move to Arsenal, surely?

Liverpool should look to move on a lot of players in the summer transfer window, as a lot are not worth the contracts they're on and are not likely to seriously challenge for the 1st team. Phillip Degen, Soto Kyrigiakos, Maxi Rodriguez, Milan Jovanovic, Paul Konchesky, Christian Poulsen, Alberto Aquilani and Brad Jones. Liverpool want to get the £300k/ week off the wage bill and recoup around £25m from these sales. The replacements for these squad players will come from within the Academy and Reserves, with the likes of Ayala, Wilson, Flanagan, Coady, Ecclestone, Sterling, Robinson, Morgan, Pacheco, Spearing, Suso and Gulacsi playing more of a role.
If a bid of £5m+ comes in for Joe Cole we should sell, as he hasn't proved he is worth the £90k/ week wages he is on, West Ham and QPR would be interested if they're in the Premiership.
As for players coming in, a solid left-back (e.g. Cissokho, Enrique, Baines), a central midfielder in the Essien (2005/ 6) mould (e.g. M'Vila, Sissoko) some wingers (A.Young, Payet, Mata, Hernandez, Jarvis, Griezmann, Shaqiri) are a must. Some bosman's "could" come in to fill the squad e.g. Taiwo (left back option), Marveaux (left sided midfielder) and Seb Larsson (can cover the whole right hand side, and has very good delivery from dead-ball situations)

Iv'e never understood why this wonderful man has never been knighted he attended all 96 of the tragic funerals of the Hillsborough disaster, counselled all of the families through these tragic years , also done alot of charity work with marina.

On top of this a TRUE LEGEND to football.

And what does Alex Ferguson get knighted for? winning a few titles absolute disgrace.

Hello. i normally don't get any info on players contracts. This one though i can gurantee it. Reina is signing a new contract he is already deep in negotiations. Most of our signings are already in motion the players have been told who this is. and most of the fringe players are now playing for there careers.

Reina will be staying on.

Yep that's probably the best rumour of the summer.

The signings 'already in motion', that I know of, are Young, Dzsudzsak, Adam, Enrique and Wickham.

Have you heard any names mate?

Hope LFC bring in more players in the summer that will see us carry more attacking threat next season.

Hopefully LFC will have the ability to score up to 70 premier league goals and propell LFC into champions league, if not win the premier league.

Hope we do not do a Chelsea and sign too many strikers, especially expensive strikers that will ultimately lead to difficulties in selecting players.

Hulk - 27m
Gervinho - 15m
Turan - 17m
Defour - 13.5m
Cisssoko - 14m

Although good players of the calibre we ought to be finding, there is no way we should have to pay those amounts for those players. 17m for Turan! A player who hasn't proved himself in any major league would be insane

People still keep posting J.Coles price to be about £6 million, you will be luckey if you get 3 million for him, you want him out but unless his valuation drops he may well stay, the only team I can see being maybe prepared to take a chance on him is Q.P.R.They have the money and he would be there star singnig, it would also mean a return to LONDON which I think will suit the player, so you best hope they put in a bid or he will be a Liverpool player next season.

Interesting Reina article on the official Liverpool site. He states:

"We cannot just perform against the top sides because a season is 10 months long. If we get the balance right, we'll be a lot, lot closer to where we want to be. We started this season and the last one not the best. Next time, we need to make sure that doesn't happen."

So, does he plan on being around for "next time"?

Hey Ed just posted about Kenny Dalglish and thought I should copy and paste his honours for all to read :

Kenny Dalglish returned as Liverpool manager in the wake of Roy Hodgson leaving the club in January 2011.

Dalglish enjoyed a highly-successful spell as Reds manager from 1985 to 1991 where he won a series of trophies to establish Liverpool as the leading force in the country.

Taking over from long serving manager Bob Paisley, player-manager Dalglish managed to win the 1985/ 86 league title and the FA Cup in his first season at the helm.

He led Liverpool to the 1987/ 88 and 1989/ 90 league titles, they were runners-up in 1986/ 87 and 1988/ 89, plus clinched another FA Cup in 1988/ 89.

Dalglish quit as manager - even though the Reds were top of the league at the time - in February 1991 and eight months later took charge of second division Blackburn Rovers.

The former Celtic player got Rovers promoted to the top flight at the first attempt and spent well in the following season to establish the club in the newly-formed Premier League.

Blackburn finished runners up in the Premier League in the 1993/ 94 season and won it in 1994/ 95.

Dalglish became Director of Football at Ewood Park before replacing Kevin Keegan as manager of Newcastle United in January 1997.

He steered the Magpies to second place in the Premier League that season and the 1998 FA Cup final but was sacked at the start of the 1998/ 99 campaign.

In June 1999, Dalglish went back to Celtic to become Director of Football and was appointed caretaker manager in February 2000 after Head Coach John Barnes was dismissed. Dalglish guided the team to runners-up in the league and won the Scottish League Cup but left that season.

He returned to Anfield in 2009 to work in the club's youth academy while also having the role of club ambassador. Now in charge of the first team, he hopes to revive Liverpool's fortunes after a disappointing start to the season.

Cheers Ed,
Adam O'K ;) YNWA {Ed001's Note - that is not quite correct, he replaced Uncle Joe Fagan as boss, not Sir Bob. Sir Bob was his right hand man and helped guide him and he has learnt so much from him and Ronnie Moran, Joe Fagan etc.}

The Mirror are currently running daily excerpts from journalist Brian Reade s new book An Epic Swindle 44 Months With A Pair Of Cowboys and, so far at least, the snippets have proved to be a bit of a goldmine.

It s probably worth mentioning that Reade is a staunch Liverpool fan and one of the men responsible for the Dr Mr Hicks protest video (i.e, the one in which Echo & The Bunnymen singer Ian McCulloch claimed that having the Americans in charge of Liverpool was akin to watching his family getting ***) so his accounts are massively one-eyed and biased, probably embelished to a certain degree and possibly even completely fabricated but they certainly make for good copy, and we all know that s what really counts.

From today s batch:

As George Gillett digested the words he was reading, the blood drained slowly from his face.

Surely there was a misprint in this report about Steven Gerrard marrying his long-term partner Alex which completely changed its meaning.

He read it again but it came out the same, so he phoned his co-owner: Tom, there s something you need to know. Our team captain is gay.

A bemused Hicks asked for the evidence and when Gillett read it to him, in between guffaws, he explained that in England the term partner can refer to a member of the opposite sex.

Their captain wasn t tackling for the other side. Alex was a woman.

Reade also claims that Gillett had little to no idea how the European transfer system works, a fact that has since become abundantly clear:

Gillett s favourite phrase, when Benitez tried to pin him down on his transfer budget was: I ll give you £50 million plus whatever we get in the draft , which was so nonsensical it almost had Benitez butting walls.

If Reade is to be believed, then it s little wonder that Liverpool were in the toilet and Rafa was stark-raving doolally by the end of the rootin -tootin tycoons reig

Have it in good authority that since there's a divide in opinion on Ashley Young and Stewart Downing from KK and Comolli, we're going to bid for both - 30mil. Although Villa are reluctant to sell both. But chances are they may be tempted to cash in. We'll find out soon what happens.

oh ok so because they can't decide they will just bid for both. . ive never heard such rubbish. that's like me saying i can't decide which girl im gonna sh*g tonight, so will just get them both round. IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN lol

So you reckon it's not possible to sign 2 different wingers playing on opposite sides of the field! ! BTW why the hell we bought 2 strikers in Carroll and Suarez. According to you that's like sh**ing 2 girls, isn't it? Well some people only ever good for one anyways! !

You idiot. .Are you blue nose or a manc. . ? What the guy was quite rightly saying was that it would be stupid to just buy 2 players simply because we couldn't decide which one we preferred. . This is totally different to buying 2 strikers that we wanted at the time (esp having just sold El Nino). There would be nothing wrong with buying Downing and Young if they were both targets and we actually wanted both of them, but but if we only want one of them then it's stupid to buy both

In 's the press about complaints against King Kenny's "tirade" against Wenger. . Tirade my apse. telling someone to "Kiss Off" Once is not a tirade, and saying he should be dealt with the same as Rooney. . Kenny Just got caught on camera were as Rooney was deliberate.

On another note. Speaking to my brother the other day who has met Kenny a couple of times playing Golf in La Manga. Saying what a thoroughly nice bloke he was. down to earth, having a laugh and cracking Jokes, but also how hurt he was at the state Liverpool were in at the time!

El Diablo!

Its to my understanding that a top striker based in Spain has all but agreed to join Liverpool in the summer. (It's not Benzema either!) I can assure you my information is 100% accurate.

Mr Mister

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Why don't you just tell us who it is? Otherwise theres no point posting the rumour. .

My guess is its either Llorente, Bojan or Benzema (despite what he says as he's trying to make it a surprise by not revealing who it is?), Rossi? Who else is there? Ed, who are some more quality strikers in Spain? {Ed002's Note - There are plenty of decent strikers in Spain - I am certainly not going to list them for you.}

Players like Lucas(Top Tackler and one of the most consistent players of the season), Modric, Wilshere, and defenders are not included.

Gareth Bale barely had 2 good games this season. Based on what PFA selected him is a "mystery" and "wonder". (champions league hat-trick?) And I am hearing Baines is not included in the PFA Team of the season, can someone explain why?

I'm sorry guys, but i don't think that dzsudzsak is proven enough to walk into the starting right wing position for liverpool. unproven in an unproven league, he'd be great as a power sub, but i can't see him more than that. and before ppl start talking about suarez in the dutch league, he was the best player in that league by far and had a brilliant world cup, was one of the players of the tournament. you can't say that for dzsudzsak. i think we need a proven, world class winger for each side. it may be expensive, but apart from them, i don't really think we need any other players.

We don't need a keeper if Reina stays as back up we have Bouzanis, Gulacsi & Hansen

Johnson & Flanagan at RB

I personally don't think that we need a CB as we already have Carra (aging), Agger (injury prone), Kelly (new Carra), Wilson (promising) & Ayala (new Agger)

For the left back spot, yes we need one and we have Robinson as understudy

CM Lucas, Gerrard, Spearing & Shelvey. Bring in one more to eventually replace Stevie.

RM We pace a precision, possibly keep Amoo as back up.

LM same as RM, try and keep hold of Ince as back up.

CAM/ CF Meireles & Pacheco, bring one more in.

ST Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt. Blood Suso & Morgan/ Ngoo, buy another experienced ST.

We need at the very least:
LB, CM, RM, LM, CAM, ST

Six players = 19

Yeah, I notice that now. Just got back from a business trip and the jet lag is setting in. Can't sleep, but I find myself leaving out words or even entire sentences when I post. I can barely keep my eyes open as I type this.

Martin {Ed001's Note - sleep deprivation is deadly, nothing makes sense after a while. It is how it feels editing the site during a transfer window!}

On talk sport tonight guilleme ballegue recons we chose carroll over llorente in january?? any truth in this Ed?? {Ed001's Note - last I heard was that Bilbao rejected our bid for Llorente, I am not exactly sure how that was choosing Carroll over Llorente myself.}

ERM well i wouldn't go as far as saying we chose carroll over lorrente. but im sure if we bid the 35 million we spent on carroll then i doubt bilbao would have turned it down.

Neither of Doyle or Long are British, just to let you know before a stampede of posts are printed correcting your mistake.

geez here we go again, can we stop taking the piss out of peoples spelling, not everyone has your grasp of english, it does not make them thick, i was reading a tweet from ian rush the other day and he made a spelling mistake and came back on and rectified it, so does that make him uncreditable, i have a friend in poland and half the fun of texting to her is her mixed up english, its so funny to read but you get the gist of it, id like to see some of you so called scholars speak nevermind write in a foriegn language, ps ed i agree with you about adam, jimmybosun,

Fair shout Ed but, in my view Adam could me a massive waste of money and effort or with better players and movement around him could be exactly what Liverpool need. I doubt he'd play every game due to his fitness (and fingers crossed the emergence of shelved) but he could play like carrick does for the mancs in games when they want to dominate possession. Hopefully not giving the ball to away to yaya mega money though
